That's very on par for halftime in Denver the LA Lakers leading the nuggets 53 48. "Then there were a lot of people that would get in the, I'm willing to do what it takes, what's required to win. But there are no guarantees. And it's the old saying, remember the guy who remember the guy who quit right before he had success? No. Yeah, nobody else does either, right? It is. It's one of those things there are no guarantees, or are you willing to do the work even though there's no guarantee. Good is the enemy are great. Because it came from somebody on the text line said, it comes from the book good to great. Yeah, I think it's a guy named probably John or something. Oh, man. Vote by Jim Collins of Jim John. I was close. As we get you set for game one. Now, some of you, we're getting a little pushback. Why do you keep bringing up the negative history? Because we want you to use it as fuel. If you don't know your history, then you're what? You're bound to repeat it. Bound to repeat it. We want you to use this. We want you to use this as inspiration. We want to stoke the embers. Of your passion for tonight. And a reminder of why the Lakers have been a major, major thorn in our side. Here's the yet another example. Gotta get that 2009 hometown hero Chauncey billups was treated to Denver and led the best nuggets team in over 20 years to the Western Conference Finals against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. Got the game one. Anthony Carter committed a mistake that continues to haunt the mile high city to this day. Trevor ariza shoots the physical while the smaller Anthony Carter had trouble passing the ball in. Over the long Odom, which allowed of Visa to shoot the gap for the steel because Carter has the lobbyist bounds pass. After a hard fought series, the nuggets magical season came to an end in 6 games. At the hands of the Lakers. You know, I think there's a lot of revisionist history about and it's probably the people who like to come after George Carl. Because we're like, they couldn't throw an inbounds pass. That's why we lost the series. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Hold on a second. They lost that series in 6 games, okay? It was a two two series. We just got done with a two two series. All important game 5 in LA, they lose. Okay. You're down three, two. Guess what you get a chance to come home. Yeah. And you get a chance to come home and beat the Lakers, force a game 7 in which the idea is that anything can happen. In that game they got beat one 19 to 92. They quit. I mean, they flat out quit in that game 6 at home. They got beat by 27 points at home in game 6. So kind of like Phoenix. Yeah, don't exactly. So don't. This revision is history while Anthony Carter cost him the series. We talking about. You're at home in game 6 with a chance to respond and you quit. So anyway, I think the history of that series has been rewritten a little bit over the years. I do have, I do have some people saying, well, you guys did the same thing with Kansas City last year, and they rolled us again. Well, he's got a point. He does, but he did have a point. But I'll give you, hey, but tax year one, us zero. You know what? You're not wrong. Yeah. They know that to work today. You know what? You win. You win. That's whole milk. Yeah, that's heavy cream. Shannon Sharpe. You're not our friend anymore. Here's what he had to say as he was taking a look at the Western Conference Finals, breaking it down from the Lakers standpoint, of course. And then his prediction. It's going to come down to this gift. Okay, your two best players, Jamal Murray jokic, AD and LeBron, play to a stalemate. Okay, now the other three, the others, what are you going to do? Austin Reeves, delo, Lonnie walker, Rui hachimura, vandal, those guys, can you outplay Gordon? Can you outplay KCP? Can you outplay Michael Porter junior? Bruce Brown, if you can, I like the Lakers. So I'm going to take the Lakers. I will be bold in my prediction. I've been, I'm going to go legacy 6. You know what? Shannon, you had me with your analysis right up until how you interpreted your analysis. Because I totally go with the idea of the others. As the key difference in this series. But after just watching the nuggets, others against Phoenix's others, I think Lakers, others are better than Phoenix's others, but I still don't think there are others are as good as the nuggets others. You follow that? Everyone get that? So Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter junior, Bruce Brown, kentavious Caldwell Pope. Versus Austin Reeves, D'angelo Russell, Lonnie walker, Vanderbilt, and hachimura. Hachimura, I think that's how I pronounce it. Yeah, hachimura. Haki Mara. You should have a film guy. He still works over at the Broncos. Yeah. Is that his last name or his full name? First and last name. Last name. Horror hoochie. You must have come up with a nickname for him. I always wanted him to marry Kristi yamaguchi and she'd be Chrissy yamaguchi horo hoji. See, I knew you had something. I knew you had something. Wouldn't that be the coolest thing ever? Christy yamaguchi hora Kochi. All right. "Jared Vanderbilt, he's going to crash the living hell out of the offensive glass and teams will ignore him and he has punished him as offensive rebounding rate has spiked already with the Lakers and defensively LeBron AD Vanderbilt is a thing. And it's working, they can switch three, four, 5, across all the front core positions. They kind of need all three of those guys on the floor to cover for the guards, and to have enough size and rebounding. And that's okay. I think it's okay again, the spacing on the offense will be a challenge, but no team is perfect. They've used Vanderbilt as sort of the Swiss army knight. They had them guard Brandon Ingram against the pelicans. They had them guard Luca yesterday against Dallas and then switched everything and that worked. And defensively, I think that's going to be a real, a real kind of solid top ten ish, top maybe even better. Defensive lineup. And then everything else kind of clicks into place. You have Russell and Beasley starting Dennis schroder comes off the bench, Rui hachimura is now the backup power forward that they didn't really have. You can use van dough in that spot if you want. Austin Reeves, I think it's at a nice season for them. And when he looks to score, there are different team and he's been looking to score more in recent games. Just one opportunity to present itself catch go score. Backup center a little bit of a question with bamba. You saw them bench him in the second half against Dallas, but between hachimura and Vanderbilt. They've got spots there and again, it's a team now with more shooting and defensive makes sense and at the same time they've that's a that is damning with faint praise. I think is the saying that the Lakers congratulations you have a team that made sense because you had a team that made sense, then you made one gigantic trade that gave you a team that didn't make sense, then you undid that trade in quite artful fashion. And now the team makes sense. And I think they're a solid team. I don't know where they're gonna finish. I still have questions about the defense with those two guards on the floor, really any combination of any lineup that doesn't have AD and Vanderbilt, I'm gonna worry about defensively. And the spacing when you do have those two guys, I'm not sure what the ceiling is, but they are graduating to, this is not something to just sort of chuckle at and say, oh, let's all overreact to three or four games. This is a team that's something now, I think. I don't know what they are, but I bet internally they think they are, okay, now we got something. Now we got a team that can go toe to toe with anybody out there, right? That's what they're thinking I'm guessing. Yeah, that confidence this guy high right now. And I think aedes a pretty strong bellwether always because he's not very good at hiding his emotions and his spirits are through the roof right now. You see it the way he's playing on the court, but I caught his eye from across the locker room last night, and it is a joyous locker room. Everybody's ripping on Austin reefs for getting caught on camera talking to Josh green. Everybody's saying, you know, you ain't, and I'm gonna bleep the bleep out of you. Everybody. Everybody's going by Austin. I don't want to fry you. And I catch 80s eye from across the locker room. And he's sitting in between Vanderbilt and LeBron. And he kind of goes like this, the gesture towards Vanderbilt, gesture towards LeBron, two thumbs up, huge smile. What do we have here? Thank the lord. That's fantastic. I feel like AD probably does have some bar in his bag. I feel like that would be up to Sally. We're sense of humor. So and look at the way he's doing it. Late in the game, they need a bucket dentist who's commanding the offense. He's looks towards LeBron, LeBron points. No, you get that ball to AD. 80s posting up turnaround fade away. Like going to a jump shot in a crucial situation, that to me also shows what level he's at physically. That he's not just trying to the jamming around the rim. So it's a good spot to be in. They still have a ton of work. And you could say, why did we wait so long to make the trade? Or whatever you want to say, but there are strict schedule is somewhat favorable down the stretch as well. They have a couple of games gets the suns with Kevin Durant or assuming Kevin Durant would be there in that moment. And they are in the midst of this stretch of 7 straight games against Western Conference teams with better records than them. And so they got to continue not stumble here. They go one and two on this trip that Dallas comebacks all for not, but they're playing like a team that expects to be there. And I think belief is a huge part of the equation when it comes to these type of things. Yeah, the next half dozen games are tough, although teams that have a better record than them, that sometimes half a game or a game or now it's essentially you're playing your peers, some of whom may be in less good health situations than they've been record might indicate. Overall, they have 12 home games left in 9 road games. By winning percentage only, they have, I think, tied for the second easiest schedule left in the Western Conference, which is why some of these systems are pretty high. On their playoff odds, and

"Value guy because I just think you have to cross off a lot of teams with him, right? How many teams would actually unhappy enough with their point guard position or desperate enough for a star that they would want to pay with the premium price would be for Trey. So I don't want to say they're stuck with them, but I just don't think he has the same kind of value as some of the other young stars. Would Brooklyn give up all the stuff they got to try to get Trae Young, probably not. And I know I know you don't mean all, but yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah, right. Three picks. They give up like three of the first or something like that with Houston, you know, give future assets up with the bulls, say fuck it, let's go with Toronto, say, hey, let's talk about siakam and I don't know. I don't know what his value is, but I think that team's kind of a mess. I haven't liked anything I've seen from them this year. I don't think Atlanta is the right choice for the team you'd least want to be out of this group because I still like the roster enough and the trade stuff I don't need to repeat myself all over again here. The value for him. I think we should all be reminded of the Kyrie Irving lesson that we all got taught that there was still four or 5 teams that wanted them again after all the Brooklyn stuff and trade doesn't have anything close to like Kyrie's resume discontent. I mean, it's pretty clear that I don't think people like Trey. So I don't know how that's going to be figured out. It's super finished up the player voting too. It was like, wow. And the money is not nothing. No, it's not nothing. That's a pretty big haul. The money for Lillard and Simon's moving forward and then they got a grant decision on top of it. So you have Portland as your team, you want to be gone. I'm just talking it all out here. Like Portland isn't something you look at today going. That's going to be a great time. Washington should be at least nominated for the worst option out of this with deals contract porzingis injury history and the fact that he's going to get paid again by them. And that's why they want to bring back Kuzma. That was part of the Rui hachimura Matthew Harris. They were both like I overrated that they have other picks going forward. But you're right. Tomorrow. Pics is certainly part of it, but you can then put like Oklahoma City 7th in your power rankings, you know? Right. Although I fucking love watching it. I mean, come on. You can talk me into it. Hey, look, it's Toronto's in a weird spot here, you know? In an OB who apparently everybody wanted didn't meet the price while he was out. Again, he doesn't play in a lot of games, man. Look at his numbers. You got to pay van vliet or let him walk or facilitate some Kyle Lowry deal where they ended up winning that trade big time by not paying lowering it up with precious. So there's some little pieces there, but Toronto, that roster set him for like this weird purgatory thing here too. Well, in the van vliet pieces, is she too? He just changed agents. He's going to be afraid. Right. And I just don't think he's a $30 million year guy. I don't. And we all was 25, and maybe van bleed low 20s, but after that, I just don't like it. And I think we all like Barnes, I would have liked to see a bit of a jump. This year. And we haven't. So I wouldn't pick Atlanta out of this group of who I wouldn't want to be because I know I'm stubborn about this. I still seem to like the talent one through whatever, but they're going to have their own issues with McDonald's. I wonder if the Sadiq bay was Donovan's insurance, and then if the trade thing continues, it doesn't improve, not the numbers, but, you know, you get a Dijon decision there as well, but I would still take the talent on Atlanta and their questions over the talent and a lot of the same questions for the other teams in this group. So your pick is Washington or Portland. I would not want to be Washington. Okay. Fair. I think you made me wave around my Atlanta pick. We didn't even factor in the ownership piece of it too. You have that. The ownership has to factor into this. See if the Atlanta. Who's asleep? That's different. The answer is better sleep for 20 years with this basketball team a stock at teams done well. But all right, we're moving on. Hanging around. 5 teams, Lakers, 17th, 27 and 32. OKC 29 Minnesota 31 and 30 Brooklyn 34 and 24 and the Knicks at number 13, 33 and 27. We probably both have the same for the team. We would want to be going forward. It's okay. It really would have been fun of Chet had played this year. How many wins? Like realistically, how many wins would he have been worth for that team? Let's say three. Yeah, I brought. I was wondering how big that number was going to be. You're right. But let's give them three. Now they're 31 and 26. Right? They're like a borderline in the mix for like a four or 5 seat. And head in the right direction. They struck oil with fucking awesome Jason Jalen Williams, the swingman. That guy, wow. Just over and over again, presti is crushed these picks. And then they have a top 12 guy in the league now. This J is a top 12 guy. Like Getty who I love. So and giddy, they play their ass off. I'm gonna talk about loud door anymore. They are in their last 15 in the NBA, like I kind of just do the last 15 games snapshots and compare everybody. There's 6 of an offense in Lebanon defense for a team that's supposed to be tanking.

"Yeah, I don't know if I should get, I should not get any credit for the eclipse, close out. This is all Luke. There was a group of us that saw him do it, and I actually really my first reaction was just pure enjoyment. I thought it was hilarious. And, you know, Luke has asked to help a lot and to stay off the ball and we put him on some different matchups and then he started doing this contest as a way to stay in the play and it started with like giving Luke a lot of crap about it. Like dude, what are you doing? Why are you jumping 15 feet from the play? And like Matt would pull all the clips and we'd play him and we'd give Luke some crap and then, you know, you can't deny the stats, like it's working, I guess. I mean, it's not working. And there was actually one time last year. I forget who we were playing where he did it on a shooter in the corner in front of our bench. And it was the first time that I'd ever seen it from the angle of the shooter. And I just remember like, I thought to myself, like, oh my gosh, like you really can't see the basket for a second. Like, it is, it's the eclipse. Like, it's taking away the view of the basket and Luke has run with it. It's been his thing, he did text me this year that if I don't have walker Kessler doing the eclipse by the end of the year that I'm a failure as a coach. So I do have a homework assignment from Luke on that one, but I was just a huge fan of it. Somehow it's turned into like, I'm the first person to notice it. That's not true. I was just a massive advocate of the closeout. I got to text Luke earlier this year when Rui hachimura shot fake the eclipse, which we may be on to something offensively. We're going to work on it before we play the Celtics this year, but yeah, it looks such a great guy. So easy to root for. Does so much good stuff on the court, and that one just happened to be something that I was just one of the fans of. The first ball fake where the defenders 15 feet away in NBA history. "I don't think he should be worried. If you think Anna nobi is the guy. And if you think for the next 5 to 6 years, he is going to be a staple of your rotation and you're going to be a really good team. I wouldn't blink at the asking price, but if he's not, that's a steep price to pay for a guy that's probably not ever going to be one of your top two guys definitely. Maybe not one of your top three guys in your rotation. I'm very interested to see what happens with him. Everyone's talked about Toronto. It's not original thought, but man, oh man, there's so many seams that you just want to parachute them in on and see how they look. I really kind of hope he gets to go to a contender. Let's talk about the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis returns last night. I thought it was a very smart move to ease him in in a game against the San Antonio spurs, and he was fantastic. I think it was he only played what, 24 minutes, like 21 points, a bunch of blocks. You know, I was working on that van a bios story earlier this year and periodically, I like to check which of the players doing the best in the restricted area, a non paint restricted area, the paint. I think Anthony Davis was shooting like 78.7% in the restricted area, which is like even for the restricted area absurd. And so it was really nice to watch him last night, you know, he took one three, I think, a three was his first shot, but really get back into the paint a ton. That's where he was having a ton of success. To start the season and looking like MVP AD again, just dominating the rim on both ends of the floor, were you at the game? What did you make of his return? I was at the game. I thought he was excellent. He moved well. It only took a merely a couple of minutes to kind of get his rhythm back after he got to the free throw line. And that first shot went in. I think he really got into it. He had two blocks into the first quarter and really got into the flow. So look, he's obviously a major difference maker for that team. You can see the way he energizes them. Definitely defensively, and even offensively, his ability to kind of step out, top of the key, make shots, get to the basket, create second chance opportunities, the whole thing. And look, when you have him in the rotation, you can bump Thomas Bryant down. You could bump Rui hachimura, the new guy down. So it's valuable in that sense. My concern as it will be every game is, is that foot could hold up. And you saw it. Yeah, he went down the third quarter. I mean, Zack Collins came up underneath them. Why Zach Collins was contesting a 48 footer, I don't really understand, but Zack Collins came underneath him and immediately Anthony Davis grabbed his ankle. And you know, it's kind of like a writerly phrase to say the entire arena gassed, but I'm telling you the entire arena gasp as he had the Davis lay on the floor and he didn't get up right away. But he did get up, he was fine, but this injury, it was an injury they couldn't really define for weeks, it seemed like what is it? Does he know the scan? How many doctors are going to look at it? There's a bone spur there. There's a stress reaction there. There's a lot of things that are scary when it comes to big men and feet, which are generally problematic when they get commingled. So if he's healthy and I think Hashimoto is really good too. He's a nice fit for that team. They're a team that's that you have to keep your eye on in the next few months because healthy AD, healthy LeBron, hatchimal a part of the rotation, you know, if Westbrook can limit his off the deep end plays to two per game, like they're going to be dangerous in the playoffs, but it's game by game with Anthony Davis. He steps on somebody's foot wrong, you know, you're talking about some that may require surgery. I mean, sergeant was discussed originally for this foot injury. It sounds like it's happening in the off season no matter what he's even alluded to. We're going to have to get the best of the crap out of me. If you're like a Lakers and you're looking at free agents, if he has, I mean, foot surgeries are they're real. They're a major ones, obviously. You don't want to hear your list, Frank. You know, that's the new that's a new word in the basketball lexicon that is like the new microfracture. Yeah. Yeah, nobody wants to hear that anymore. So there's a long way to go in the regular season. And a lot of games be played and I would at the very least be deeply concerned about Davis's ability to stay out there on the floor. Yeah, it's tough because it's a little bit reductive, not even reductive, like it's not fun to reduce the analysis to Kenny stay on the floor, but that really is what it comes down to with AD. We know how good he is. Yeah. We know how good he is when he plays. I think looks the best since he's left New Orleans this season. That's how good he was playing earlier this year. I like what you said like for them to have a bench backcourt now that's Thomas Bryant and Rui hachimura is like legitimate considering where they were to start the season. I think Dennis Schroeder has been fantastic for the Lakers the last couple weeks, like, you know, they had that game against Miami a couple weeks ago where they won without LeBron and AD shooter was fantastic in that game. He was making plays late in that Memphis game. Again, last night, he's just a very solid player for them. And things are kind of settling into focus and that's even without Austin Reeves and Lonnie walker. I think walker has been better for them than even I expected this year. So they're in position, like as much grief as we give Lakers management, which they deserve for not putting a team around LeBron that can compete to see how close they are with a team like the warriors, for example. And their ownership group like we had a story this week in the athletic, they're not sure if bob Myers is going to be back and now I'm looking at it like are the Lakers relatively even that embarrassing when you see what's going on with some of these other teams like Golden State, so I'm pleasantly surprised with where the Lakers have ended up at this point in the season. I think if LeBron and AD stay healthy and they're one more move away, I don't think God humor a thing is going to be. I think that move is coming too. This hachimura deal foreshadowed at least one more move because the Lakers, the cap space next summer is now gone, because whatever you think of second round picks, you don't trade three of them to get a guy you're not going to resign. And without hashim or they're at 34 million, that's close to max cap space. With him, even if he's at ten, 12 million, he probably is a little bit more. You're going to eat up half of that. And you're talking about having only enough money to get, you know, what Kelly Olynyk is worth these days. So I think because of that reality, I think you're going to see the Lakers far more aggressive in the next couple of weeks. Looking at some of the Utah guys, looking at bouillon Bogdanovich, maybe there's somebody else out there, that's available. Kind of waving the white flag on the idea that next summer, they're going to be able to go and get a marquee free agent like Kyrie Irving to come play in LA. Look, who knows how that's going to work out long term, but short term, that's going to make them even more dangerous. She put bouillon by Donovan on that team. There are an even more dangerous offensive team. When you saw LeBron last night, I mean, he's been on these scoring binges of late, but when he's surrounded by guys that can play, like Hashimoto and by Anthony Davis, he's passing the ball. He's giving on 11 assists in that game. He's not looking to put up 40 on any given night. So you give him another weapon, that seems to be that much better. And it's going to be interesting to see, I think it also opens up, like you said. They do decide to move Ross and attach those restaurant picks. The idea that they can take back longer term salary really opens up the idea for some of the moves they can make and I wonder if they'll try to get involved with someone like van vliet or whoever it is, it could be really interesting. I want to get to all star, but I just want to ask real quick. I really, really enjoyed those nets sixers games and the warriors grizzlies games last night. It was a ton of fun and we have nuggets, sixers coming up on Saturday. We have Lakers Celtics coming up, I'm already willing to call rivalry week a success. If anything, maybe we need to make a bigger deal out of it next year. I don't know. No? You're out on

"What does that get you? If they had drafted better, like then you might say, okay, but Corey kispert, why is Kuzma resigning there, by the way? Like, why money, money? Like if the witch is gonna pay a bunch of money, that's why Bradley Billy signed there. Like, I'm a Bradley Beal. It's laughable to think that Bradley Beal was going back just to be the one to revive Washington, to be the one to take the wizards to a championship. He got paid. I don't begrudge him that. He got 5 years and a quarter of a $1 billion. That's why you go back. And if they open up the checkbook for Kyle Kuzma, he's going to go back to. But I don't know why Washington would want to do that because all it does if they're all healthy, maybe that gets you like the 7 seed. Maybe that gets you the 6th seed. It does not get you among the upper Echelon teams in your own conference. No, it doesn't get them, it doesn't get them much closer. You're still a player away that you can't now acquire because you've got all this money locked up in these other three guys, only one of whom has been an all star. Actually two porzingis count counting him from very early in his career, but porzingis is not making another all star team most likely. Kuzma's probably not making it all start to. Bradley Beal may not be making another all star team in his career. So you lock up three max contracts with three guys who are not making all star teams. You have doomed yourself to the treadmill of mediocrity. I agree with you that the Lakers got the episode title, please treadmill and mediocrity can that be the episode title I'd like that. I agree that the Lakers having weathered the storm without Anthony Davis and him coming back potentially within minutes of this podcast dropping. And at 22 or 26, like the record suggests that they suck, but they are only a game and a half out of the last play in spot. So they're still very much alive and one bigger boulder move involving at least one or maybe both of those future first round picks. Might really put them firmly in the mix. And so as I have been saying from the get go, I don't think you just cash out on a season where LeBron's playing at this level, man, some of the footage of him in that loss last night, he just looked absolutely despondent. But I agree that this should make them more aggressive. One, they've weathered the storm without Anthony Davis, Anthony Davis is now healthy to hachimura does help kind of stabilize the rotation as does Thomas Bryant's emergence during Anthony

"See that. He's solid. He's big, sturdy, physical. That can help and he's, when you look at the Lakers front court rotation, he can be one of those guys that can play both forward spots when needed. So that's going to be useful. The three point numbers you talked about, he's good at the corner threes, about 42% from corner threes this season, which is probably an area the Lakers are going to put him as he's playing kind of off driving kick from LeBron James. That's what Kendrick nunn did a lot of too when he was in LA. 41% the last couple of seasons on catch and shoot threes. That's a pretty good number as well. I expect the shooting numbers Howard to improve because, you know, I've said this many times before. Shooters get better when they're playing next to LeBron James. They just do. So I expect how she more to have more open looks. And based on what we've seen from him, he's probably going to be able to capitalize on a lot of them. The other part of this is, I think the Lakers believe that there's something untapped in hashima, because in Washington, there was a log jam there, especially this season. You had Kyle Kuzma, who the wizards bizarrely seemed very committed to. We'll get to them. You've got Denny Abby, who was another lottery pick. That's some of the wizards were giving minutes to as well. So in hachimura's case, he didn't have the kind of opportunities, perhaps the Lakers are going to look to give him. So maybe there is something untapped in all that. I mean, all they gave up was Kendrick nunn and let's raise a glass for the two year run for Kendrick nunn in Los Angeles. I mean, God, how many times do we hear Howard that Kendrick nunn was gonna be the answer? All last season. Don't worry when Kendrick nunn comes back. He's gonna make an impact with this team. Darvin Hamm, talking him up in the preseason. I was at those practices where Darwin ham was talking about how Kendrick nunn looked. He was not the answer. Had a pretty good month of January. If you look at some of the numbers, but he wasn't the answer. And with the Lakers getting all they needed from pat Beverly, Dennis schroder, Russell Westbrook, Austin Reeves, that backcourt rotation is fine. It made sense to offload Kendrick nunn in that situation. So I think this is a move that makes them incrementally better to use your word there. I think they do improve based on this deal. The other part of it is, I think it now makes them a little bit more likely to make a bigger win now trade before the deadline because they get how shimura.

"Gamble responsibly, gambling problem called one 805 two two 4700. All right, let's go back to the Lakers for a minute because they made a trade. The Lakers made a deal Howard. A mega deal. Not so much, but it's not bad. We have like one of those little hallelujah courses courses we can drop in, angel singing something. We'll leave that to production. Rui hashim Mora X of the Washington Wizards ex number 9 pick in the draft. He is headed to Los Angeles, Kendrick nunn. We hardly knew Kendrick nunn. He is going to Washington along with three second round picks. You're right. We don't know. Your initial thoughts on the hachimura for none and picks trade. On the Lakers side of it, look, it's a good opportunistic move. They gave up a player in none who wasn't obviously that vital. They had a backcourt log jam to say the least nut has been hurt since he's been there, never really contributed and they trade him plus some second round picks. None of their ultra valued golden ticket first round picks that they don't want to part with unless they're getting a new Ferrari or something. And that is a lot of second round picks. So they had a lot of second Olympics. That's what they're for. That's what they're for. You take your seconds and you take a role player and you send them on just to a team that is looking to unload somebody. Good move by rob palinka and his staff, a good opportunistic trade. And in hachimura, you get size, you get length, you get some athleticism and some versatility that they sorely needed. He's not going to change the world for them. Like he's not a great shooter. He shot, it's interesting. He shot four four 7 from three last season, but he's a career 35% shooter from three. He's at down to 33.7% on threes. Bottom this season. Yeah. Now, playing alongside a healthy LeBron and soon to return, if not already returned to Anthony Davis, he'll get a lot of open shots.

"Department of Health and Human Services. Let's talk now about some of the other teams that are out there and I want to kind of transition to Washington because that was the first team on my list in terms of teams I think that need to start really getting proactive if they're not already about shaking things up. I saw Washington play over the weekend Bradley Beal was not playing so take that with a grain of salt. But I know that once some games as of late, but I look at that team and I see no path to upper level improvement. I see no way that this group of players is going to rise to a level of being a championship contender in two years, three years. Part of that is because I don't know how many young guys can really play. Like Rui hachimura's okay, Corey kispert is okay. Denny avege is okay, The Rookie this year, a blanking on his name, but I haven't seen a place in the G league. He doesn't play, which is an indictment right there. That's a play. And look, I like porzingis. I think he's kind of revived himself in a way this year in Washington and Bill porzingis can be pretty good and has been pretty good at times, but it's not a team that's going anywhere. And you look at Kuzma and Kuzma's gone. He's not coming back next year. That's not going to happen. So I just think if you're the wizards, you have to be talking to teams about everybody. In a seller's market, you've got to be out there saying the teams. Kyle Kuzma is available. And you know what? I know we've got to have a conversation with Bradley Beal about it, but Bradley Beal should be available too. Like Bradley Beal should be on the market right now because I look at Bradley Beal and still a phenomenal player phenomenal score.

"With the bill. Bradley Beal, I know what you're saying. Bradley Beal is a good guy and a really good player, but he's not LeBron James. And he's not like Kevin Garnett Paul Pierce. He's not a guy you work with to make sure he's happy with a deal. If you're the Washington Wizards, you gotta be happy with the deal. I mean, Howard, look at this roster. Like, you're not winning anything with this roster. Again, there's ceiling to me. Ceiling is playing. Like that to me is the team that they are. You look at the depth chart with this group. The future of this team is Denny abja. The future of this team is Rui hachimura. The future of this team is Johnny Davis, who was their first round pick this past year. Those guys are the future of this team. Like, what are they going to do next summer? If they play this out, like Kyle Kuzma was going to opt out of his contract. I got a pay Kyle Kuzma to come back to be part of whatever. There's an opportunity that he wants out. Well, I mean, I think he wants to get paid. I thought I saw this. 13 million coming next year in a player op. She's going to opt out of that. Kyle's probably he's worth more than that. It now is his time to cash in in the NBA. But you're in a position right now if you're Washington, where because as you wrote, so well on SI dot com, there's so much parity in the NBA. Like if you're putting guys on the block, you're going to have competition for teams that want to get them. So you put Kyle Kuzma out there. Even in what's effectively the last year of his contract, the team is willing to give up first round draft capital for Kyle Kuzma, I would think. You put Bradley Beal on the block. You're going to get a lot of teams interested with multiple first round picks and young players. Like, whether it's I look at the teams out in California. Golden State. Would they get interested in Bradley Beal? The Lakers. They're instant everybody, you know? That might be the player that they attach those two unprotected first round picks to. If you're Washington of that comes to fruition, you gotta jump at that. The wizards were nice story to start the season. They were playing well, they were above 500. They look good, but they have come crashing back down to earth. Some of that has to do with the Beal with Bill being hurt in and out of the lineup. I get that, but this is just a very average team. And I don't see the pathway through organic growth or off season acquisitions to get this Bradley Beal led team into a

"And then a player option for 13 million next summer. Yeah, so he'll opt out of that, of course, because he'll be looking to make more than that. Let's see. I mean, a guy who I don't think a lot of people realize he had such a good year last year was Rui hachimura, it took a long time from a play, but I think I'm hung a wizard's page so I can pull it up just real quick while we're talking it. He had an outstanding season once he actually started to play. What do you think he just hopefully you're not looking? What do you think? We agree we had some more shot from three last year. Oh, that was part of his game that needed work, but since you're asking the question, I'm going to assume it's better than I would think. So I'm going to say 37 38%, 44.7%. Oh my God. Wow. So it's pretty real volume, too. Of attempts 11.3 points and only 22 and a half minutes. 49% overall. I don't think we ever got the story of what was going on that took him so long to play. Last year, I it seems like something COVID related and something family related. But yeah, I mean, he came in and once he came in, started to really show some stuff. So that's a very long answer to isham's question. Let's see, where it goes with Yoko Kuzma because they may look at and say, oh, we kind of like Rui, kind of like Anthony gill. We kind of like denied you can play some of the four for us. So let's see. They've got a lot of stuff to sort out there, especially with their forward group. There's a lot of guys in that grouping in Washington. Okay. All right, hey, I want to do the extensions because we didn't do those yet. You can take the screen off the board because those are on a whole different place. But we didn't talk any of the extensions, except we talked yo kitchen Booker, I think. Right? I believe so. So here's what we know. We're not going to talk to we already talked zubot cherish young and print. So we're going to talk to new ones, the big ones, the big dogs. Let's first talk towns, get the exact same extension as Devin Booker, both designated player extensions off of their current deals four years adding $224 million, an average of $56 million a year for those two guys, just the wolves front court. Super expensive. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, front court's going to be a 90 to a $100 million front court. At some point. Isn't that bananas? Yeah. In today's NBA, right? In today's NBA that you would have two bigs like that. Yeah, making that kind of a $100 million between them, which is crazy. But in Booker in towns, two, yo, all NBA guys, so it's a really good players. This also locks them in for a year..

"What is their plan? Do they know? Do they know that's my thing? They did a great job in the Westbrook trade, right? And got some good pieces and things like that. Now the season has gone off the rails. You have Beale out with the year with the surgery and things like that. And they're in a very critical situation of what are you going to do now with Bradley Beal? Like, look, I don't think that Washington deal for Westbrook was as good as Bobby marks thinks it was where it was like one of the best deals of all time. But undeniably they did well. I think that getting off of that contract and getting who they got in in terms of ancillary pieces to potentially work like, I think that they did find getting those guys. Yeah, and you know now, by the way, flipping one of those pieces Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis bertans to Dallas in that train. And we'll talk about dialysis side here in a second. When I look at Washington, I'm just like, I'm confused. And I've been confused about Washington for a while. Like let's just be honest. It's getting to the point where what are you planning here? And I'm kind of shocked like Beale still hasn't demanded a trade. You know? Like every time I'm like, yo, like, how long are you just willing to sit there and continue to be honest, be irrelevant, you know? It doesn't matter. You're young, you're 28 at this point. And you know, he's going to opt in his contract with the researcher and things like that. I would imagine. And then they're going to try to give them the super duper max. And then so we're going to play this dance and then a year from now you're going to demand the trade. You're just wasting your time. I think I don't understand the plan for Washington. It's a big swing on porzingis who's never healthy. But I guess the hope is like, hey, if we're healthy, we can have a pretty good defense. You know, he's a good rim protector when he's right. Kyle Kuzma has been really good defensively. KCP has been pretty good this season. Like they got some pieces, Rui hachimura, Denny advil. They've all been good on the defensive end and things like that. So maybe that's the thinking of like, hey, we're just going to start to pivot to being a really good defensive team. I just, I would be very worried and granted they got off. They're paying porzingis a ton more money, but he's dealing with shorter than I think Davis Burton, so getting off Burt hands. This is probably a win for them. And I think that that's pretty good and Dinwiddie hasn't worked out for them, like there's no, it's not like they gave up a massive player in Dinwiddie, but I just, again, I'm just curious. It's just like will trade you are too bad contracts for you're really bad contract. Like I get confused with that. So let's talk about the Washington side first. Because the thing that I can't wrap my head around in Washington is center has been the least of their worries this year. They've gotten pretty good production from Daniel gafford. They've gotten pretty good production from montrez harrell who they moved in ancillary deal to Charlotte, who will talk about that in a minute because I think that's actually an interesting deal as well. But montrose Herald has been really valuable to score off the bench. Daniel gafford is a.

"Are we just completely out on like hachimura and Jackson as in Kobe white? So Kobe white was next for me, actually a Kobe white ahead of Nikhil Alexander walker. I had Kobe white, it looks like Kobe white ahead of like Nick claxton. I'm intrigued enough with what I've seen, but I think that, again, he's one of those guys where it's just really, really hard. It's really, really hard. To be that kind of player and make it work in the NBA. And then hachimura, hachimura ended up just being like, for me, the tiebreaker was, hey, he hasn't played this year. I don't know what's going on there. This is a weird situation, it seems like. I'm just not going to go with it. You know what I mean? Darius baisley is another guy. Jackson Hayes has shown some signs this year, like over the course of the last month. And then Caleb Martin, like Kevin Porter junior is obviously in the news for the wrong reasons right now, but it's got office talent. Yeah, I don't know what to do with Kevin Porter junior and Terrence Davis. But once you start once you start to mention like Terence Davis, like, okay, I think we're good here. "Hoping that Thomas Bryant can get back from ACL rehab before January. So December for Thomas Bryant, who's been a nice fine for them coming off of being released by the Lakers. As I remember very vividly. Yeah. A couple good couple good big man finds for them with toss Brian. Daniel gafford last year who had picked up from the bulls, he really took off. And then another former Laker mantras Herald playing out of his mind to open this season. Looks I was going to say it looks like you did with the Clippers movies, but even better than he was with the Clippers. He's been great. Yeah, the hachimura situation is odd. There's been a lot of details on what went on here that caused him to message. You know, they've said personal reasons, but usually when it's been this long, we have some sense of what went on but he also there was reporting out of the Washington media that he had been back, but working out on his own and hadn't been working out with the team and those kind of things. So don't exactly know what is going on with that one. But yeah, odd situation. But what's going to be the thing to monitor there in Washington is, how does he crack the rotation now? Because you've got Kuzma playing well as the starting four. You've got Harold basically eating up all the other minutes there. Cobble Pope, holding down the starting three spot. Any audia is kind of the backup for both Kuzma and Caldwell Pope. And then when Burton's has been recently with an injury, but when he gets back, he's kind of the other guy in the mix there. So I'm just not sure how easy it's going to be for hachimura to force his way back into the rotation because he's not somebody who can slide down and play the two at all. So I'm probably taking care of someone else will probably be out at some point, but that's the thing I'll be watching for. One in if they do everybody healthy, how does entrepreneur get himself back in into the rotation? And remember, what we always say, you can never have too much wing depth in today's NBA. So like you said, I think it will work itself out because you're going to need other wings at some point, even if he's not being put right back into the starting lineup.
