"This season, he's injured once again. This sign taking free kicks after training. Frank, take us as just a footballing perspective. Could you criticize him for doing that? Or is it something that you just do naturally? And you can't pick on him because obviously he thinks he's back to full fitness. Now I would never criticize a player who does extra job after training sessions and Paul was used to be a good guy for free kicks and he knows how to curve the ball. So it does what he has to do is part of his job and if he does extra, he's good because he needs to recover and needs to come back in a good shape on the field. He's only 29. He's not that old. And he should be capable of doing that. It just, let's say, bad luck. Really, bad luck. Being conservative doesn't help in football. We know that if you pay attention, if you don't give 100% during games, you're going to get injured. That's what it is. But when you feel good and you are in a train station and you want to do three kicks after the game after the training session, it's part of your job because you are one of the guy who's going to shoot for kicks. So nothing to complain about people who say that he was unprofessional doing so. I think football people who understand football was an injured half the time at man united. Yes, yes he was. There's not all bad luck. Can't all be bad luck. Right. I'm not saying this one isn't, but it can't all be another one he's gone. He's gone. I mean, in 19 extent, but. Paul Pogba was at that stage of getting out of bed in the morning. Do you know how many this seems to be following him everywhere? And then you've got a question, the desire, whether it's the desire to be that player that he once was. And I don't think having watched them for the last two or three years and how that's panned out, that all these engineers know are not a coincidence. I think a lot of it is down to the player. The player's mindset and the players desire to keep himself in the best shape possible because he's done it all. Done it all in the game, world cups, Champions League, I believe, titles, all that. And I got to ask yourself, and I think man united were asking us, does he really want to be that brilliant player again? And I think the answer is probably not. I mean, you have a segue to get from Pogba to Napoli Frankfurt and I've got nothing. So we'll be Napoli again, I'm Frank for sure told me I would have helped you. Well, what would you have said? I want to come up with something. Oh, really? I was trying as you were blabbering on. Everyone's going for an athlete. When of course

The other two, I would tell them. An absolutely one of those two enter a Milan, not great sides, but are in the last day because they've come up against teams, Milan it responds and entered it with Porto. They just didn't do enough. Just not just did not do enough. I think I don't know how they helped Chelsea turn it on. Anything else. Anyone like to add anything more to this game. It was soft as soft as soft as cities for the first goal rightly. Not given. Frank said, that was a payoff. Said it was a penalty. No? That's true. That's true. I think we should have been a penalty maybe for I remember first half, so it was for Porter. In a new post where there was a push from an Italian defender, and two minutes after there was a free kick, should have been given because of that. Thank you very much, Frank. "Better with or without him. Well, yeah, I mean, having helped defenses when he starts to be used properly by Manchester City as a fact, I think I don't think he even had a touch in the opposition box at Tottenham. I mean, that's really quite an incredible start. And he looked as if he was a stranger isolated from the other players. He was making rounds. He wasn't getting the ball. So, I mean, he's going to end up getting 60 goals this season when they learn to play with him. But yeah, I mean, I agree with Mark. And I think it's a generally how view now that things aren't quite right. It matches the city at the moment. The cancello sudden departure to buy in Munich was a little telltale sign, not picking Kevin De Bruyne for a huge game like Tottenham away where they have the chance to cut after the sleeve. And then that strange quote from Pep Guardiola moaning about it takes four hours and 20 minutes to get to London and I'm tired. I mean, when did they ever moan about that before? So just at number one, things are not quite right with Manchester City, but I wouldn't be in quite such a hurry to write them off. They had just as likely to bounce back probably sometimes soon. Stevie just mentioned there were micromanaging, right? It's also what players your micromanaging. Right. Not every player is going to be or should be treated the same. Because not every player reacts to certain tactics the same way. Some players need the micromanagement. Other players need the space. Other players, you just leave them alone because again, they need that space to be who they are and to express themselves on the field. What I'm getting the sense here from Manchester City and we've been in thousands of locker rooms. It feels like this guy is on top of everybody right now all the time. And when you see the expression on Kevin De Bruyne is sitting on the bent in a big game, just kind of bore there just like, I can't believe I'm out here. One of my sitting here. It shows me that this is a guy that right now is going head to head. We pay Guardiola. And back to the other given his success and given the fact that part of that success comes from his stubbornness, he's not going to let this go. It's going to be my way, or it's not going to be. I don't think this is the way to operate with a team that has so much talent and so much experience. And to the point about erling haaland, as a striker, who was as compared to Erling Haaland, I was as limited as you can possibly be in the striker position in comparison to that level. But men, if I'm making runs, play me the ball. One time, blame me the ball because that's what motivates me. The idea and the hope that I can get in behind the defenders with a chance to score a goal just give me something. Throw me a bone. Oh my God. Just something because I'm going to keep moving for you as long as you keep me motivated. But if the ball is not coming, then I start coming towards you. I start coming towards the ball because I want to get involved. And you're not involved in me in the play. Now, if that were happening with me, is one thing. But it's happening with perhaps the best out and out structure that we have in the world right now, and you're not using them. It doesn't make any sense. Speaking of strikers, as the veteran of the panel, Ian, you've seen them all over the years. How high leaders Harry Kane rate in the history of strikers that we've seen in English football? Well, it's hard to make comparisons across eras because the game was played on different surfaces and you'd have to say that today's defenders are probably fitter and

"In the primary really. Erling Haaland stats time, then, of course, he made it 20 goggles, 20 Premier League goals already this season in just 14 matches. It's the first person in Premier League history to score 24 January. He's on pace to score 52 Premier League goals. The current record is 34. He's outscored 9 Premier League teams this season, including Chelsea, and if the season was to stop now on 5 previous campaigns, he would have already won the Golden Boot. And he said afterwards he agreed with you afterwards, he said I'm disappointed I should have got four or 5. Yeah, I don't think he's going to, I don't think he's going to get 52. I mean, it could happen. I just don't think it will continue to go at that pace. There's a lot stronger teams to be played. Albeit, you know, he easily could bully even if a plain Newcastle, a bot in a Shah, that's going to be a great match up there to excellent center halfs in great form. That's a fantastic bike for. There are so many other fates to be hired, but yeah, I said to you at the Liverpool game and the Caribbean copper said he looks like he needs to get the cobwebs off. And even though he got to, it looked like, again, I mean, the one he had in the first half that the brilliant little ball from de Bruyne and his letter run across him a little bit, but he saw in ten and getting it on his left foot and we had been sort of hypocritical here. He saw intent and getting on his left foot. It's the wrong choice. He has to let it run across his body on his right, and the defender then doesn't get near them. And he's got a cleaner strike to get away. And the one in the second half when he was, again, the great bulk through when he was straight through one and one with Millie. Kenny gets it stuck under his kind of always expect to see that hit the back of my head. A little bit at the moment and it's Kenya, you know, his touch isn't quite there, which seems strange to be saying for a guy who's got to think three goals in the two games bike. After the break, but he has these a little bit rusty. Yeah. That's just, I mean, he's admitted that himself. He said, not bad, rusty. Nobody got especially given that routine. And listen, the truth is, I think the only thing standing in the early holiday and getting to that 50 goal threshold is city successes. We don't wish Rashad on anyone. But if since you go deeper and deeper into the Chapman's league let's say at Pablo, I decide to rotate and we see how the game stack up, given this midseason break

The statement you made in every year about this box and the fixture list are boxing day call the period fiction list was going to be a bit of a non event. And I think we talked about the games yesterday, which were pretty easy. And this was the same. I mean, the fact that it was three one was only because in the first half and particular, once again, Jack Grealish were talking about end product, even though it got better in the second half. And Erling Haaland individually could have won this game on his own with four or 5, even though he got a brace. Should I hide the easily? I'll give him four. Probably 5. So still blowing the cobwebs off. And I suppose that gave leads a little bit of impetus when Gerhard come on, he could have scored and did a couple of free kicks and that was the only downside, really, but yeah, I mean from what the first minute when Harlan had the chance with the Archibald of the talk, at point that I think any of these games were actually in doubt. Yeah. I totally agree. Listen, you already surprised anything in this game or surprising things without leads with that disappointing. That's what we call a physical game when somebody does you and you blame yourself because you didn't do them and you put yourself in a position where you were going to get hot. That was the mentality. These players today have no idea what physical challenges. Although Pablo is obviously a different generation of players about Pablo as an Argentine footballer, you've got to be tough haven't you. Hey, I like physical full but I was the top player as well. "Football two at the time, there is a real feeling of what could have been with this player. Yeah, it's funny really the way it's happened and you don't like to say it. I mean, you can think of dele Alli as well in England. It was a star at the 2018 World Cup and his career as well. Frankly, gone down the drain. He's such a gifted player James Rodriguez, such a delight to watch when he's playing well, but like a cardi, you know, you're not at the top forever and you don't know what things are going on in people's lives. Why the talent doesn't leave them, but somewhere along the line, maybe they're mentality, the approach does. He didn't work out for Hamas Rodriguez and Everton, even though everybody was extremely excited when he signed. So a little bit sad to see. What do you think of it Pablo? When you think of what we saw from hummus Rodriguez in 2014. Yeah, same. I played many times against him and then he was also joined to watch and play really with a huge technique that left foot with that left foot on that. But sometimes it's not just about talent. He chooses about having the right mentality entirely. Consists of something in football very, very important, very important. Been a good profession a group of I don't know him. All I can say, I think I feel it for him to go to Qatar, Qatar. I didn't work out work out on CNC before. I'm not a chance at olympiacos. We probably know the strongest of the strongest, at least he will have a chance at the chance to get to enjoy his football and see if that can happen he was such a great player back in the day. Back in the day. How tough is it, Stevie, for the average football average football stand, the pressure that comes with it comes with additional footballer. And the fact that they were going on behind the scenes in their life as well as well. Well, they weren't worn or they'll listen to players Tony players talk the sacrifices, or woe is me getting paid all this paid all this. But the truth is half tough. I'll be in a professional home life about the wheel, whether you get enough sleep, sleep, eating the right things, and in all of these things are important are important time. It's not a case of a couple of people there and you just look after you after you say I'll be an ongoing thing. Particularly particularly today and so I just don't at this point think that you're normal support has any sort of understanding of London of what and never will never will be the day how are they supposed to when they've never been involved in it in the middle of it. But for anybody who's truth is half of the game is between your ears and it's the mentality. And unfortunately, some of the elite harmless Rodriguez who's shown us some fleeting moments of absolute brilliance for a whole host of reasons and a lot of them what's going on in his head hasn't been able to be able to produce it. Consistently. And so yeah, we don't know what goes on at home, but I'll tell you what does go on at home as a huge part of any sportsman's life that helps them succeed. "Even after the game, Pep Guardiola did admit that Harlan's goal glossed over what wasn't the best performance from Manchester City against Borussia Dortmund. Would you have any worries for them at all Pablo city? No, no, it's just one of those games that you can expect to man city to play every single game either best. Sometimes that happens. But you can see the score deft when folding came on in the second half with Julian Alvarez, they brought some energy into the game and determination. Some pace from the white area. So he shows that with this court, he had many options and yeah, it was probably not the best performance for Manchester City, but it's they have a quality enough to create a moment of magic and to score goals, like they did last night and so that's why I'm not too much worried about that. Well, let's move on to talk about Graham Potter's first game as Chelsea coach. It came in the Champions League against Salzburg. It finished one one, but all the talk with Chelsea right now has been about their owner Todd boley, biggest story in the headlines right now, with his proposals to mix things up a little bit in English football to make some more money. Here's what he's had to say about it. Those relegation games are some of the highest broadcast games. I mean, ultimately, I hope that the Premier League takes a little bit of a lesson from American sports and really starts to figure out why wouldn't we do a terminate tournament with the bottom four teams? Why isn't there an All-Star Game? I mean, people are talking about more money for the pyramid. Memo bead did they're All-Star Game in LA this year. We made $200 million from Monday and a Tuesday. So I think you could do a north versus south. All-Star Game for Premier League and fund whatever the pyramid needed very easily. I have to imagine you've had conversations along those lines with some of your fellow owners. Are they supportive? Yeah, listen, I think that everyone likes the idea of more revenue for the league. I think that there's a cultural aspect that. Is real. And I think evolution will come. Ian, you are one of U.S. soccer's most recognizable voices. What are your thoughts on what Todd bowly had to say about bringing an All-Star Game with north versus south in the Premier League? Well, it'd be interesting to the fans of Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest during the Midland side. Fit into it. North against south, here's something. I mean, I think it shows, I'm not going to criticize because it's great to have new ideas and new debates. So I don't agree with people being very critical about Todd bowley and firing arrows at him about it. Okay, he's put up an idea, but I'll tell you this. It's not going to happen. There's no demand All-Star Game. It's just not part of the culture of the game in this country. And the same way that in the United States and in MLS, they're not thinking about having relegation either, although it's a key part of the narrative on this side of the Atlantic. So I think that's where I'm coming from with it. He can float the idea, but I can't see it happening in a month of Sundays. The Pablo do you like the idea of an All-Star Game in the top flight of English football? Not sure about it. I mean, I've been in England for so many years or playing football in Spain and to be honest, I've been with man city

"One, the through board from the brain, the run, the kind of run that last weekend was not picked up by the brine. For example, on mares, we city this time the ball was perfect and he finished it and I think also the way that second goal was called will help will help him a lot as well for the games to come now. Yeah. We're obviously seeing the first couple. The second goal here, rob O, how good is this a finish? It's a good finish. Of course it is, but the runs equally as good. And the one thing I'd say about the game, I was wondering how he was going to find space because West Ham dropped really deep. There was no space for him to run in behind for most of the game. Declan rice and soup check playing just in front of him. So I wasn't sure how he was going to get the ball. He had two opportunities to make runs in behind. One for the penalty, which wasn't that much space to run in behind, but he got that absolutely right. And then he was clever, not to try and score himself, but take the touch away from the goal. Keeper. He realized how close the goalkeeper was to him. And the second one, as soon as de Bruyne picked up the ball, everybody could see where the space was, the defender probably knew he was going to run into there, but he had so much pace, then he ran round the ball and just passed it into the corner. And you knew he was finished going to finish it. So he showed in limited opportunities today what a great player he is. I think that's Jan I hear. No, I'm just saying, I just agree with the boys because I think that second goal is vital. Of course, it's vital for any striker to get that first goal. If you wait for that, there's be a lot of foot talking around. But I think that the second goal is so important because the thing is that they will always be taught a whole long will de Bruyne and the rest of the match the city need to adjust to Ellen Harlan, how long will need to adjust to the pet way of playing. That's why that second goal is so vital for both Manchester City and Ellen Holland. So at the goalkeeper perspectives for both golf Shaq. Yeah, first one's a nightmare because you think you're going to get there but these big giraffe legs come and take the time. I got to that. First of all, if you're demon Moyes, and you see the reaction post community shield, you have to go, please know you all just stop. Just stop with the gooding Harlem dog. The last thing we need is an angry building on and showing up. And that's exactly what you get. But then you know David Moyes, you know west were a very good team, let's remember. Sit deep, so pressure up and try to deny Ellen Holland that space. And then the path from gun gun. And areola who came off the bench a few minutes before, which I don't think had anything to do with it. It's about that leggy straight and I remember a couple of seasons ago, short and I have in the conversation about how quick Erling Haaland is over the ground. He is so tall, his try to so long that he is deceptively quick. Right. If it's Raheem, if Ariel is standing there and that passes intended for Raheem's tooling and you know, and you can see how quick he is. I think you hold your ground. But it's so difficult to judge Erling Haaland that you commit. And I mean, quite quite clearly, quite clearly, a penalty that there's no argument, the funny thing about that for me was whenever there's a penalty, there's always somebody who says no reference goes to the reference. You know is it bad? There's always somebody who says, no ref. He didn't touch him. Every single police in just two and started walking away. You know, it was just that obvious. And then the second came later on when West Ham, a gold down and no tried to play that but higher up and there's room in behind. As good a finish as it was, the past from de Bruyne are equally sure. And job done. And man city made a very good West Ham team look very ordinary on the day. Jan pec Marie only spoke about this afterwards. Whence the penalty was awarded, he was very impressed with the way that grabbed the ball. This is mine. I'm taking this penalty. Yeah, there was no way back for him not doing that. Also, that in Manchester City they haven't had this penalty take there's been different doing that. So there was always him got to do that because you want that first goal never under estimate that first goal in a new club in a new season. So and he got the penalty himself. They used to be an old rule if you fool, told you shouldn't do the penalty and so on. Well, these rules doesn't count for these big strikers, these big goal getters. What are The Crown make of it around you today? Like as in the western cry, you mean? Yeah, just as a sense of occasion. So the feeling I had and I thought it was a bit similar in the committee showed last weekend was very much like, okay, we want to see how and play. I think even as a western fan or a Liverpool fan or any opposition fans that they will face now, I think there's this feeling of like, okay, we want to see now that he's here, finally, we want to see how he plays what he does if he can defend against him. What kind of run is going to make? What kind of Gorgon score? And I think there was that today as well. There was that kind of anticipation of even if he plays against you, I'm not city fans, of course, want to see him do well. But even I felt opposition fans were very much like, okay, you also came today to watch West Ham and towards your players and giant Bowen and the new signings blah blah blah of course. But I think there was a feeling as well as we want to see early Han now a bit like you would want and go and see a Christian or Ronaldo may see all these and not know that he's at that level yet, but it's certainly a feeling that there was a sense of anticipation even of excitement really to be fair, even amongst the rest of the stadium. That excitement was somewhat muted when we saw on the big screen Yan was currently put up there. As he was broadcast with erling's dad, as he was making his way to the seat, Jan. Yeah, it was, and I was the first time I had to father and son at the game. And he was delayed to the game. So I said to him, so Alfie, where are you? And I said, well, I'm with my family with the Manchester City fans. Yeah, but we're going to see each other halftime. And I said, where are you? And he said, well, I am with the city times and they were like thousands of them. And somehow we managed to find him and he came down and of course he was he was proud is to find his balance between being an advice of being a dad and of course anyone can understand how nervous you are when you're your son is doing that penalty and but this is a good thing for them and after the game we spoke to Alan as well and Allen said this is a great day for me and my family. This is a family bound man and this team Holland is not only a cliche, it's really a thing they were all the whole family today sitting as I said behind there and Alfie told me when he was going off for the penalty. There was 200 Manchester City fans turned around to him and filming him for the souls as he was shooting on the suiting and it was funny around the atheist minutes people were seeing that there's only one Alfie Harlem as not many fathers who get that in a game. His bodyguard. Kevin Costner Whitney Houston there it is.

"At the end of the day does it does it matter I think as long as they're winning games and they get better weekend week out then we can measure how the success by says the school plays the goals of this score 40 goals, but if it comes at the end of the season and if one nothing, then was it really worth it because it seems that maybe it's cost the team at that point. So I'm a believer that whilst they're winning games and whilst they are getting better and taking over and in the process of achieving their goals. Then everything's going to be fine and I'm sure the best version of them is not going to be in this first week of the season, but maybe come in the season when they're potentially caught finals champion Z finals end of season pushes to win titles. If it's working then I guess that's what it matters the most. Mark Ogden, who assures us that these glasses are on trend that is wearing for today's show. Mark, I tell you what, just from a football fan just for someone who likes watching the Premier League, this is going to be fun, isn't it? Yeah, absolutely. And I think Harlan is a natural bond goal scholar. There's no doubt about that. He will start loads of goals. You'll probably end up with a Golden Boot this season, but I think the situation is the city that they bought him to score the goals to decide the tight games against Liverpool, either Champions League, that the games that matter, the goals that matter. If you score in four against Fulham and 5 against the two forests, that isn't really why they bought it, but it probably has that in him to do it. I think he's such a dangerous player against wheat defenders. Tom and defender score lots of goals. But yeah, it is knee jerk to suggest that he's not going to score a lot of skills and be a flop that I think caught him a flop, but there were kind of alluding to the fact that it was way off what we expected him to be, but it will click. And I think for the past two or three years, city of basic play with the front 6 and you could never tell which one was playing where they were sold fluid and they moved all over the place and was it fold or was it Sterling? Was it out of silver? Was it Gabrielle yozo who pledged to the middle? We never actually knew. Now it's obvious we've got to define number 9. The most outer net number 9. I think perhaps ever had. I mean, aguero was more of a team player than Harlem, but they'll find a way to play because this looks great. It won't take deploy a lot to find that past that he didn't find at the weekend. And with the same with people like fold and silver. They'll soon find a way to make you click. But I think as well, I think the defenders in the Premier League are probably at a higher level than the Bundesliga. I think part of when we played Bayern Munich, I don't think that Harlan would have been tested as he will be in the Premier League. So it will be more difficult for him against better defenders, but look, he's 22 years old, is absolutely physically intimidating. He's got this great physique pace, power, great head of the ball. He'll click pretty quickly and it'll be a case of how many of the score. And it will be exciting, but the one thing I thought of the weekend was that Nunes is I think the year older than him. In lots of more rounded player in terms of his awareness of it to hold the ball up, just bringing teammates in. But that'll come with Harlan. He's not had to be that play, but it'll come to city, dad. But it's a good point, Dan, mark is doing that. And I spoke to a lot of the Manchester City people when I was in Leicester. And I was amazed how they were thinking all that. Yes, they are buying a much wanted striker and number 9, a superstar and all that. But they also know he's 22. He needs to be developed. He needs to keep on developing. And that's why I think one of the main reason why they went to Manchester City because they thought he would take the next step if you compare Nunez and Liverpool, Nunez came to replace some Sadio Mané. But Ellen Holland is coming to Manchester City to give them something else. And that process can take a bit longer by the blues. What if it doesn't collect Shaq? Obviously it's complete disaster. Well, I'm sure you'll hear about it here first. But I don't think anybody's anticipating that at all. Listen, I'm in agreement with all the boys here. Listen, it's one game. It was a glorified friendly, which we'd been seeing all week long. And then all of a sudden, in this preseason friendly things go as things normally go in preseason friendlies and everybody's everybody's all surprised. It'll come good. I don't think there's any doubt any dough to that. The question just remains. What does Erling Haaland come in good mean for Manchester City? In 6 5th league title in 6 years or is it? Does it deliver the Champions League? And ultimately, that's what is done to. But as far as a 22 year old, playing in the community, she goes and not having the best of performances. Certainly, I'm old enough and to make this about goalkeepers because it gave us always about goalkeepers. David de here in his Manchester United debut at the community shield as I'm sure Mark would remember had an absolute disaster and look at that and at his best you know to be regarded as the best goalkeeper in world football. So let's not. Let's not get carried away with this. Well, I tell you someone who is getting carried away with it. It's native manure. When you take a look at predictions as to who will win the Premier League, this season, former Manchester

"Plays with a hunger and an element of a player who's fearless. Who's not thinking about the chance that I'm going to miss. He's thinking about all the chances that I'm going to put away. And I only compare this and contrasted potentially with a guy like. Big sign for Chelsea, big expectations. He was going to be the player that was going to put Chelsea in an environment in which they could contend for a title. And when things started to go the wrong way for Romero cackles, you can see a shift in attitude. I don't think that happens with erling Holland. I think his makeup seems to be different. He doesn't need the arm around the shoulder because his motivation and that hunger and that fearlessness that I just mentioned pushes him to get himself in a position where he can score goals with consistency. He knows that's his job. He knows that his obsession and that's what he's going to do for you. So if he's healthy, he's going to support goals. My only concern is injuries. He's three to one to be top goal scorer next season than Premier League Shaq. Would you put your money on that? Absolutely. All right, listen, I'm with Ali on this. Unless as long as these students injury free, I think, Erling Haaland grabbed unless he says injury free and Pep Guardiola decides not to play early in Holland as goalkeeper. He grabs 15 goals of season, no question. He's just that talented. Three to one coming into a system that hasn't used an alternate striker. He had to have scored the goals that they have over the last couple of seasons. I think that's an easy bet to make. Even for somebody like me, who is hard to part with his money. Well, I've seen you with it very quickly at the poker table. That's another story..

"Premier League. This season with 99 goals and then you bring in early in Holland. It's a great spot for them to be in. And I'm sure you will be criticized everything to be over analyzed. And if they don't win the Champions League, you'll be saying, well, it was a failure, but the fact is, you know, the sun is 21, 22 year old player who's got a lot of years ahead of him, and I'm sure he'll be just fine. I'm not sure how much you know of this erling Harlan character Jan. He looks pretty decent. How difficult is it going to be for him to adapt to a very new situation has made him as explaining from versa Dortmund where expectation is one thing to manage the city where it's a completely different level, where you have to put it in, day in, day out to be guaranteed a starting spot. You mean this player is €50 million cheaper than Harry Maguire. Yeah, I understand. I know the player. Now, I think that is quite interesting to see because I think you have to put in a mixture that Pep Guardiola's way of playing football. There is a lot of talking about he's not doing a big number 9 and all that kind of stuff. But I think this is also a part of the process. What Pep Guardiola tries to do with his team now. I think Jack Grealish and Ellen Holland goes into the same kind of strategy. There's not typical pet players. Alan has always shown he showed his Salzburg endorsement as his development goes quicker than everybody thing, even himself. But I think he's very prepared for this because I got a suspicion. I'm suspicious that that there was a time that Spain was ahead, obviously thinking that he would we was 2021 and maybe it was the right time to go to Spain, not the intensity of an English football season that started in August and in end of May. But I think that he feels so strong. He feels so strong physically. He has developed a lot if you see his body now and when he came to Dortmund is changed, but also the mental state of him. Yes, he is a young lad, but I think he feels very much wanted Manchester City is not that pep will say come to us. It's going to be an experiment what's going on going on with you. He is told that this will be defined role. And when you see him scoring goals, he's all within and around, if another score sees nearby, if he scores, he's always in the box and when you see Manchester City play, you just see how many times there is a bold bumping around in that 18 yard box. And Ellen will be around. And elling is not only a big, big number 9. He's so much more and I think there is always more in him to develop into a more player that can always play even more with the team the way Pep Guardiola wants all these players to play. What will it take for us to be sat here in 12 months time reflecting on a disappointing season for Erling Haaland? Why can we foresee it not working? Injuries. That's a concern. Injuries. And Jan just mentioned that he's gone stronger at Dorman. But while he has gotten stronger, there is a history of niggling injuries here and there. Things that you assume as he gets stronger and he matures and his body and all of these things that he's going to get better. But there's enough there to be concern. If he's healthy, I don't care what system erling Holland plays in. He's going to score goals because he.

"Want to do it. Who knows? I'm not playing devil's advocate here. But you're saying the Premier League is very competitive. Is it? Dan, have a look at the four teams in the Champions League. I mean, we'll talk about it. We'll probably talk about that later with Manchester City in the Champions League. I mean, Grealish if he scored those two goals. I mean, that is the best investment management systems ever done. That is a small details. I think there's quite interesting to see that the competition is now games by a Munich or a Real Madrid or Barcelona if they come back with PG with all their kind of players. I think it's quite interesting to see how pat is developing at the moment. Last season it took in Greece, that was not a typical Pep Guardiola player. Now it's taken in a big number 9, but having said that a lot of people saying, yeah, but he can't work with big number 9s. But Alan Holland is not only a big number 9. He's also contradict players. He's a young players developing. I think it's quite interesting to see one of the best football brains in the world trying new ideas out there. Natum. Yeah, I was just going to say that I said he's good to see by I was like, you know, bring back quality of the people. You know what I mean? But yeah, thanks for everything you do though. Thank you. So there's no concern. No concern at all that Manchester City could have been the next 9 leagues. And when those thought that 6 of the same degree, you said the titles are foregone conclusion and lo and behold this three points now separate in suicides. And maybe it would have been three sides for Chelsea's fell off just at the turn of the year. Yeah, they didn't get paid. It's not competitive between, say, the top and the middle. But for how many years has it been the case that like the top three or four have just been miles ahead of everybody else anyway? And I think I agree with Steve in terms of you'd rather see top quality at that end than in my opinion. He was great for the Premier League that Lester won the league title that season, but to see all the major powers underperform for a year. If you saw that every single year, the product itself probably wouldn't feel as good as it does right now, in my opinion, but maybe that's my city bias because it is city TV, isn't it? Well, let's take a look at your silly TV starting 11 for the start of next season with Erling Haaland in it. How do you fit him into the team, natum? Well, you just slamming just straight through the middle, you know what I mean? It was quite easy to find a spot for it. But I think this is the thing we're sitting, you know, there was some players I could have put in a gun doing in there and the front, the other two people playing out wide. You could have changed that. But I don't know, I'm forgetting Grealish as well. It's a tough call, but at the end of the day, I think as is the case of Liverpool this season on city. Like you use the whole squad everybody will play. Some will play more than others. But even in a bad season for you, where you don't think you've played art, you walk away, you've probably played 30, 40 games. But I think for me, this is the one which I think currently, if harland was to be put in would have the most quality, but it used to say that that won't change because inevitably the up and flow of the season causes that's out there. And I think one of the most, if you see that team done in the terms of what you try to suggest, I think what is frightening. And I think one of the things that will attract any strikers, if you see the people around you with deploying with silver with the wood fold and. That is a dream land for any striker because you know that you will get good passes. You know you get good crosses. And I think that is if you see for one of the main reasons for a striker going to Manchester City, that will be that one. They will score awful lots of goals and the number 9 will get is fair, fair share of that amount. About Holly count, where the only thing he's guaranteed is chances. Well, you can complain all you want defensively. But going forward, that's 6 that was on that sheet of paper I'll tell you what. How long is it going to get two and three and four chances every game? And the way he finishes, he makes gore two, three, four over again. But you don't want would you rather not see that? I don't know. I honestly, I would concern me going forward. 5 years with sat here yet again, who will finish second? But then to your point, whoever harland joins in that shortlist, real Magellan by Munich, you have the same discussion around that leak. So I don't know why this is any different or why I'm saying it's different. I'm not saying you don't have a responsibility or the leaders never responsibility. I also think there's better there's greater parity in the Premier League than in many of the other leagues with some of the tables and their spending power as compared to mid table to the top of the table. You know, and of course give them cities dominance in the Premier League, given how much they spend. It's.

"Those have not been taken seriously. Okay. And for our listeners, could you give us a little more background on the gray wolf issue? I'm not sure that we're all familiar with that. I know it has to do with endangered species. Yes. So the gray wolf was previously considered an endangered species. And what has been happening is that hunters wait outside of Yellowstone park for gray wolves to come out in order to hunt them. And this has led to entire packs of gray wolves being killed. And so a lot of indigenous leaders have called for the department of interior to put the gray wolf back under the endangered species act. However, secretary Holland has said that they are reviewing it, but nothing has happened. And they are now sort of under protection because of a California judge who said that the department of interior took the gray wolf off of the endangered species with, but that should have never happened because they didn't have enough evidence. For the gray wolf to be taken off. And so they reinstated the California judge reverse that call. And the Biden administration continues to battle against that judgment. Okay. And I know that the gray wolf an important animal for many tribes and it did seem premature to take the gray wolf off that endangered species list. So any other major criticisms of Deb haaland that you can point to at this point with regard to her tenure? So another issue that has actually just written up is the issue with folks dying in custody in BIA oversaw jails. That's happening. And so they're supposed to be an investigation about the estimate of deaths in custody is 16 to 19. Because the department of interior declined to release the name gender and the date of death for folks who died in custody and BIA jails. And so the person who is leading that investigation is Darren cruzan, who's a member of the Miami tribe of Oklahoma. Unfortunately, what has seemed to occur here is that he was the top official who oversaw the BIA jails. When two to 11 of those deaths occurred. And so now he is coming in as a private contractor to investigate these deaths, which has called into question the ethics of the department of interior making that decision. Okay. And we actually did a show on this large number of deaths and BIA jails. Just a few weeks ago here on native America calling. And if any of you have our listeners would like to hear that recording, just go ahead and go to our website and check out our archives and you can hear that show again what Pauley mentioned a lot of really good information with regard to that ongoing issue. "Voice one the Native American radio network. This is native America calling. I'm Sean spruce. Deb haaland has now served as secretary of the interior for a little over a year. She came in as the first native woman to hold a cabinet secretary position and while her appointment to the post marked a historic milestone on its own, it also carried the hopes of addressing long-standing concerns with the bureau of Indian affairs and the rest of the interior department. In Holland's first year, she established an office in the BIA to combat missing and murdered native women. She ordered an investigation into abuses at federally run boarding schools, and she has started the process to eliminate place names on federal land that are offensive. At the same time, she has drawn criticism for moving ahead with certain oil drilling leases on public land, and for continued criminal jurisdiction confusion, which tribal authorities. What's your assessment of Deb haaland's tenure so far? Is she fulfilling her promise to be fierce for all of us? Is she meeting expectations? Is it too soon to tell? Deb haaland one year in, that's our focus today and we really want to hear from our listeners. So please join our conversation one 809 9 6 two 8 four 8. That's one 809 9 native phone lines are now open and our native America calling producers are standing by ready for your takes. Joining us today from Gallup, New Mexico is poly, the net claw. She's a political correspondent for Indian country today. Welcome back to the show, Pauly. Thank you for having me. Absolutely so excited to get this conversation started. So Pauly, I just want to ask you right off the bat. Deb haaland one year in now, what can you point to as her major accomplishments so far in her administration? I think one of the major accomplishments is definitely definitely the missing and murdered unit. As I was writing my article about Deb haaland's first year, a lot of folks in Indian country pointed to the missing and murdered unit as something that they wanted to highlight in terms of the work that secretary hall and has done over the last year. The other was the boarding school study. So the Indian boarding school initiative report was another that folks were thought was really important in the work that secretary Holland was doing. So I feel like those two were definitely highlights from the year. Okay. Boarding school awareness as well as the creation of this new missing and murdered unit. Now, that missing and murdered unit, that has drawn some criticism, though, has it not. Can you talk about that? Hello, Polly. Hello. Can you hear me? Yeah. Yeah, I can hear you, Pauly, can you hear me okay? Yes, I can hear you. Okay. So I just wanted to ask you because you mentioned the missing and murdered unit as being a major accomplishment of Deb haaland's tenure. But that MM unit has also drawn some criticism as well. I know there have been some articles and some families have been really frustrated with the lack of follow through feeling it's just it's not doing or serving its role as really taking a stand and going after some of these cases. Can you talk about that? Yeah, so that was a lot. That was also part of what I heard from folks as well. That there was confusion around that and also not enough resources for families as well who are doing essentially the investigations on their own. And not having enough resources or, like you said, follow through. Okay. So with regard to the boarding school, I know there's a lot of attention now in Canada and recently the Pope formally apologized to a group of indigenous leaders that actually traveled to the Vatican. So what's the status here in the U.S. with regard to the boarding school issue? And now that Deb haaland has taken this on is one of her major priorities with her tenure. Yes, so the report was due April 1st. But there hasn't been any announcement of the report, the report has not been released. So essentially, part of this federal investigation, they conducted three virtual consultation sessions with tribal leaders and accepted oral and written comments that was last year. And they accepted those comments until December 23rd. And then from there, they were supposed to be writing up the report that was supposed to be due April 1st. But that report has yet to be released and there hasn't been an update since. Okay. Now, if we look back at the former DOI under the previous presidential administration, Ryan zinke was the secretary of interior at the time, what has been some of the most significant or what have been some of the most significant policy changes from that previous administration, as well as other predecessors of Deb haaland. So I feel like one of the biggest things that Deb haaland has really done in the last year was there are examples of her remaining committed to self determination. And I think one of the best examples best examples of that is that she did reverse a 1975 policy called the Morton moratorium and basically that gave up final say to the bureau of Indian affairs on any tribal water projects. And so Deb haaland recently reversed that. And so I feel like having a secretary of the interior who really seems to, you know, there's many years left. But who seems to think that tribal self determination is important. Yeah, and that's interesting because government to government relationship or lack thereof. That seems to be the basis for so many issues that tribes have with regard to dealing with department of interior and do you think we're seeing with regard to the federal government, their approach, tribal dialogs, consultations. Are they using a more engaged, more diplomatic, more communicative approach now that Deb haaland heads up the department of interior? Do you think that's happening? The Biden administration and a secretary hall and have reiterated over and over again that tribal consultation is happening, that tribal consultation is important. But I feel like there are examples, especially when it comes to oil and gas leasing as well as the gray wolf issue that's happening in I believe it's Montana. And ensuring that the gray wolf is protected, there have been a tribal leaders for both the gray wolf issue and the oil and gas leasing who are concerned about the direction that the administration is going and I feel like those have not been..

We're seeing certain interview saying let's see where i am next season. Let's hear the end of the season. One gonna do next. Those kinds of signs are maybe before i think. He's lost patients in in in waiting for trophies spurs maybe not fitting for everything that is given to the club. The club has giving him back teams around him that could go and win and challenge trophy china's premier league titles and others. He came very close. Many times lost all those finals. And maybe now he felt it was better fame to move away from spurs and continuous carrier. Some words let's money. Let's talk contract yours. How much is he going costs. And who can afford him so hurricanes got three years left on his current contract. Uh spurs he turns. Twenty eight at the end of july and the price is pretty straightforward. I think he's one hundred and fifty million pounds. This is why it is the problem our weekend and his agent with harvey's right don't want to send to any other english clubs no rival clubs the only idea for them if they were to go and it's someone could pay. That fee will be only to a foreign club and again abrode. There's not many clubs right now. We can afford became the g. Probably one of them. I guess by an munich you really wanted to. But now we live on skiing team run madrid if they can get the money together maybe one. Oh wait for erling haaland for example. Don't have the money for sure right now. So options are limited outside of the uk and in the uk. We know that she made contacts with hurricanes agent. But it could be. A problem is i. Don't want to sent to them.
