"Sick. I've never called out. But that's what i'm saying if you haven't but are you saying that you would have if you weren't afraid of How we would treat you know i. I wouldn't care right. I think that was that was the tone. But that's why. That's why. I never call up because i know when i actually need it. That's why i always say. I never asked for anything but when i do ask for something please understand. I'm doing it for a reason but if you abuse that privilege obviously you're going to you're going to catch some side exactly can't be abuse but when i was young i got sick a couple of times but i remember watching. The price is right. My mom would have to stay home from work. Which would drive her crazy. She'd have to call on a substitute teacher. And i would watch prices right. She would make cream of chicken soup and then add rice in it. And i still eat that from time to time. When i'm not feeling good very bland foods and things like that and land on the couch and my mom would be in the kitchen doing other things. It was very rare. If i was sick that my mom stayed home it was all set up everything was laid out and i was allowed to go get a go. Get in her bed because it was a tv in that room and i would watch tv in that room all day. And then i would just like you know there was soup. It was all the outgoing heat. The soup up to make myself something to eat. Yeah ginger ale. Maybe if it was on hand but what did. "Fifty minutes saving fifteen percent or more on car insurance heard that guy commercial. There's not a commercial for guy goes just common knowledge. gothi up the gecko and all the great geico commercials. Well this is the story that you'll be sharing the rest of the day with somebody because there is a lady who you expect your car insurance to cover damage this from a crash. Or maybe it'd be hailstorm but imagine this lady is demanding that gyco pay her one million dollars because she hooked up with a guy in his car and she got an s. T. d. she you're saying she ended up with hp after hooking up with this guy it has twenty fourteen hundai hyundai genesis one hyundai or honda hyundai hyundai genesis. That means beginning alexis. I know so the first book of the bible so she admits she admitted they did not use protection but she thinks gyco should pay because the guy has insurance policy with geico geico has filed a lawsuit to have the whole thing dismissed and to make certain they can never be sued for similar things in the future. They say their car insurance only covers injuries. That happen quote out of the ownership maintenance or use of in quote. The car and this clearly does not fit that category. They should countersue her. That should be a loser. pays case. yeah we're she has to give them a million dollars if she loses. They claim the to gyco says. Hey look it's not our fault that you tweeted had unprotected sex in the car that you know you could have had protected texts. You made that decision to have unprotected sex because the car had air bags that they were protected but as of yet the judge has not made a ruling was the that that should be a five minute court. There should be some the five minute court. Yeah they read the you have each. Each party has a minute and a half to read their case. And then the judge decides next should about the shoah gyco which and miam- that's crazy that she would even try that it doesn't say where it is but there is no way right. There's no way she can win this. She's hot she's hot okay. I'll go that. There's probably no way that she's hot. probably not why. Because she was doing it in the car. But if you're willing to put your story out there on this national platform you just know it's not gonna be good luck for either of them. Neither are going to be good looking. Yeah i love genesis though. There is a pretty car. They are pretty. Those are cool cars but yeah don't you like hey i'm with. I don't really think about it until he mentioned it. But yeah they're probably not attractive people you think she's at least as attractive as the geico lizard with that much rather get. Wow i bet she is attract you think Nobody would wanna ugly girl in guy go. I mean in a genesis he that's the only thing. Hold me up. It's kind of a luxury car. I mean it's it's not a mercedes or bmw but it's a nicer car But by that logic then if it happened at his house would which he'd be suing his homeowners insurance. Yeah you're right. Absolutely she would and that would open the door for anybody who contracts it. S some anybody else's house to sue them Based upon their homeowners insurance now would be you know soon the food court at the mall. I yeah so i just. It's a two thousand fourteen hyundai genesis so maybe not so luxury out so hot a hot car so now. There's two four team because the car seven almost eight years old. You've already determined even less attractive really. Why all doing it in the car. You don't have any houses out together and you know you don't think that would be a good time. I figure she's in in decent physical shape to be able to do that in car. That's a good point but consider the two thousand fourteen. I don't know what about now is just. Yeah i mean gross. You know it. They're gross so everybody who hooked up in a car is gross before twenty sixteen. You're gonna do do it in a nice car car. That's older than twenty-six you're automatically you believe the people to be hooked up twenty eighteen genesis. Twenty nine hundred. Then they're hot. Yeah okay thank. That's a good rule of thumb unless it's a classic car for sure. Tj guess who's back twitter and instagram. I mean excuse me. Facebook and instagram down. This person is up details now. "Centric if a major government in europe let's say decides that they want to crack down on bitcoin corners. They have all these databases available. They can they can crack down individual corners. They can criminalize private bitcoin usage. If they want to. Is it going to be hard to enforce. Yes are they gonna go individual by individual. Yes but they can make our lives like really difficult if they wanted to make our lives really difficult so i think that is my biggest concern. I think it starts of education. If you look at gun rights in america gun rights in america. The gun lobby has been super successful about trying to push back on any kind of lists that are of gun owners in bitcoin land for the last three or four years. Most people in the industry have been cheering on these kind of kyc regulations. We want regulatory clarity. We want we want these large exchanges to exist. And we're fine with giving up that that privacy and that's very shortsighted. We need to realise the risk at play here and how it makes us all vulnerable as a whole and at least start pushing back at least with education that there is a risk there we had you know. I'm gonna be getting a little bit long winded we had coined based in two thousand fifteen twenty sixteen. They fought the. Us government government wanted the information on every single user. Instead they gave information on twenty thousand americans every withdrawal address every deposit address full. Bitcoin buys sells. And if you use all that information with the chain surveillance company any transaction. They made outside of coin base. That's scary like maybe we entrust the us government's. I'm not gonna make a comment on that. But what if it's another government you know what if what if isn't authoritarian. That decides that he wants to use that information on the wrong kind of way so we're very vulnerable on the individual level. But i think the network is i mean. It keeps us beating my expectations. It's really robust. So you're obviously a well read person. What is for you a must-read book and feel free to if you want to say one or three or whatever it's it's totally up to you the number one book that bitcoin is rita's and sovereign individual and telling book for twenty years. They wrote in one thousand five. Yeah it's not. The only thing they got wrong is why two k. That's true anything else. I'm a big sci-fi. A lot of my thinking was shaped by like brave new world snow crash. Only adam back's big books. He likes snow crash. Yes no crashes Comic a dystopia in pre market kind of thing that it doesn't have bitcoin in it. Which makes it unrealistic. Like my biggest complaint about that now. It's like if i read new sci fi like if you don't have bitcoin like you're the least forward thinking author there is like what's going on there. How about influencers people that you just admire that you look up to the just kinda shaped who you are First of all. I hate the term influencers. I think people have platform of trying to influence people a thing. The goal in bitcoin should be the dynamic that i think of when i think of an influence sir is try and basically get people to need you. You're like you're there crunch and my goal has always been to help them find their independence. Andrea was very early on for me like very big. I always like zebo. Andreas zavos snowden was a big one. For me i am. He's not he's not bitcoin. He's he's recently come around to bitcoin. Yeah how about you. People will be surprised to hear like. I was highly influenced by warren buffett. And it wasn't really people might look at it and say all your influence because he made a bunch of money and you were just kind of looking at that but to be quite honest with you is more just kind of his moral ethical like when whenever he said. Something just knew that he was kind of coming from earliest. I felt like he was saying it from a place of trying to help people and educate people on on his thinking and how he valued different companies and whatnot. People in the bitcoin space might look at that and really kinda like raise an eyebrow like he's the king of fiat and like that that doesn't make any sense press poison square. Yeah rotten rat. Poison square hammond charlie munger but to be honest with you the things that they taught me both charlie and warren taught me was just the importance of education and the importance of reading everything. You can get your hands on question everything. If you can't argue both sides of something well then you probably have a biased point of view on it. Try to extract the emotion out of of what you're doing and in just really dig into all the facts and circumstances that kinda lead you to a conclusion and so for me. That was really influential early on in my life even though i completely disagree with them on bitcoin obviously but i i would argue that the foundation and the educational background that they kind of instilled in me allowed me and encouraged me to disagree with their point of view as one like one of the first things i learned from. Buffet is like he went into this. This discussion with like the ceo of gyco at the time. The guy said that you know. He disobeyed recently bought more stock. Or something i can't remember the exact nuances of the of the conversation but he pulled buffet. Yeah i own the stock and buying more whatever and so if it was like well. I'm gonna i guess i i know what i'm going to buy. The guy was like. That's the exact wrong reason to buy like if you're buying it because i'm buying it then you're totally missing my point of what i'm trying to tell you here and so like that lesson really kind of instilled in me like i shouldn't be buying something because warren buffet likes it or doesn't like the process of trying to understand why you value. Something is really kind of what's important and was a huge impact on me. in general. My big journey in the beginning was heavily heavily. Nim focused it. Was you know random strangers on the internet that add names they made up and we were in irc. We were on bitcoin talk. We are on red it no filter. Everyone learning together and for a lot of years. Bickering twitter also evolved. Kind of that way. And i i think one of the cool things about bitcoin is is not the influencers you know. There are a lot of people that that have very good writing that. Give us great content that we can consume and think about things but to me. The most powerful thing is the community. And it's basically you have all these peers that are were on the same level learning together and bouncing ideas often each other even though sometimes it can be very aggressive to me. That's really cool. But there's there's no leaders. There's no of italic that you're you're to to to tell you how to think no i love that. I'll be honest with you. One of the things that i liked the most that you put out there is this idea of just being humble. This is what. I've learned in financial markets before i came to bitcoin as soon as you think you are knocking to mess something up. You're about the fall on your face like just flat on your face. And so the message of just staying humble stack sats question everything educate yourself to the imf degree at when when you get there then study some more and learn some more challenge those thoughts all of those things just totally resonate with me and i think that when you get around people in this community that our bitcoin is through and through they just have that in spades where they don't know they're right they think they are or they like to think they are and they're very open to somebody providing you know a counter argument and they want to hear the counter argument and they wanna dissect the counter argument. Maybe on twitter. We don't necessarily demonstrate that because maybe it's our fiftieth time arguing a topic that might be new to the other person but we've.

At a time frame it was the radio city crew and a narrow rock cats in all these other cities during the christmas. Show in saint louis or in guam best source chicago so i thought i would go to those auditions and maybe have a better chance at getting that job. And i got cuts. And then i went back again to another got cuts. And so my third others again was the actual radio city rockettes. And that was while. I was on tour with orders second street and i flew from. La to new york. That auditioned spent two days was like a thousand boroughs air. They need a twelve. And after two days i ended up in those high kicks. I mean how hard is that to get kicks right and what was it in the first two auditions that you think that they give you notes like well. You know your heels to the right too much. i don't know what you do. You're doing something wrong. They tell you what you're doing wrong so you can come back and correct it. Leeann your hand is it's it's a those they like looking to the side so like your chin is like you're looking to the sun but if it's like your chin was an inch lows lifted up or your big you is out but it i mean it is so detailed and he's all about being uniform so you have to be like it's precision. Precision data is best marine the marine. It's like every has to be precise. Yeah the goal. The goal around says do not stick out right. You don't want to be an individual you want to be of thirty six so the heart honestly. The hardest thing about the kicks is that you have to take its high. So you're toda your. I can't be higher on can't be lower as it's not necessarily it's not on the guys try so hard to keep your do i do. Do the hijacks. It's it's mostly used target and is like right in front of you. "The news but it is the stuff that you're talking about the rest of the day this is now trending with ribbons on the tj. Show something that's on my to do. This week is to try the new bojangles crispy chicken sandwich. They have new chicken sandwich they rattler. Give me the thumbs up. He must have. You tried it already. Of course rob has our detroit three ninety nine and trying to get into the chicken sandwich words. Obviously but i love bojangles. I wouldn't try. Yeah that's good better than a cajun fillet this. It's just it's basically a thicker version of it. It's it's it's it's a juicier thicker pizza chicken. I'm here in deliciousness. Pizza cheese. Because i i don't think they have the cajun when anymore. I think that this replaced it. Oh no really. I think so. That's what tj to alexis the the bojangles cage biscuit with cheese. Dip it in the honey mustard each by they said it's crispy juicy impact with flavor. That's top with a creamy zesty mayonnaise wondering we don't get paid to talk about this we about food and if anybody in say missouri's wondering bojangles is a chicken restaurant. Yeah yes the southeastern united states. Anybody anywhere wondering we would take money to talk about food out there. Right now bandwagon. So there's this celebrity trend a lot of celebrities talking about how they don't bathe that often the most recent one was jake jilin hall. He was talking to vanity fair. I think he was promoting the new product fragrance in in that interviews. That actually don't think bathing. Is that necessary. Our body cleans itself as what he said Then kristen bell and dax shepard have said a. Yeah we're not crazy into bathing. You know once you catch a whiff of yourself. Then it's probably time to clean up. Then meal kunas ashton kutcher of said the same thing about not bathing in their kids. Not bathing but jason m- amoah who everybody assumed didn't shower busy. Looks kind of grungy. He said no. Listen i'm from hawaii. We go in the ocean a lot. But i also bathe a lot and the rock has also come out and said listen. I bathed regularly. I don't get it. I don't know what they're talking about. This is pandered celebrity question. They hey how often do you bathe. Yeah so jason. Momoa says yeah. I bathe all the time. I don't want to be a part of any trend that involves not bathing. But i think people assume that he didn't just because he looks the way he looks dirty. Looks dirty. he's crazy. Look to shampoo and his hair very often the right one. it doesn't have dribs. No i know they're not full dribs. They're not he's got some bad hair. Salt water in your hair's probably. Yeah that's probably why it looks so good. But yeah he's like i don't want to be part of your trend. I wanna i wanna good for him way hotter. No yeah you got a low threshold. That takes a shower out again. Another example of how stupid celebrities are. Yeah that just makes no sense bay. We don't bay and then people just sit around they just suck it all up and they wait for these celebrities to tell them the next thing they need to do with their lives and like these people are are deranged most of these celebrities. So if you're a kid growing up in your worship and celebrities. Don't they're stupid. Takes our state challenge to them and even though the rock takes a shower. Don't be worse than him either. "Status say again. Here's the problem i have with that. You know it's okay. They're they're private business. They're actually Warren buffett everyone knows warren buffet and berkshire. We'll guy on him. Geico is basically owned by that. And that's that's warren buffett's cash cow has geico. That's where he gets a lot of his money to invest. What i'm saying is if you are gyco insured or you get hit by a gyco customer and gyco tells you that some people think say they have to go there now. Gyco will say we never say that. Well that's what you were. Well the but that's what they in for all. I'm telling you is no that that's shop has agreed to gyco that they will only do that first estimate and they have to do it within two hours which sounds really great but today's cars are so complex. That is absolutely not possible. If you go to geico shop and you should ask that question do you get a supplement this if you find additional damage. Look them in the eye when you ask that because they can't and if there is additional damage which for the love of god the chances of there not being additional damage as that repair progresses through the process the chances of there not being additional damage is so slammed as ridiculous. And then you have to ask yourself. Is the shop going to foot the bill. I'll tell you they can't afford to and they know that you're not gonna know that whether or not that was fixed properly or did that rail get replaced that floor piece get replaced or did they just glue it back together. Because you can't see it. I'm gonna tell you that's a huge possibility and as you can see. I'm getting a little route riled up because you have a choice. These insurance company programs that they say oh. We'll go to our shop. It's going to be great. They're not there for you. Therefore they're they're there for the insurance company and geico just rose to the list of mine of the most despicable practice on the planet to take. I would even go so far as to say trillion dollar business and go to a body shop that so desperate for work that they say you have to get it. The first time in anything else is on your nickel who would sign up for. That does make sense. Did i was. I clear word to me because i'm pretty little back. Knowledge around body again just realized guys. I had rattle. You have the right to go to any shop you choose. That insurance company is mandated to pay a fair price. No one's asking for more than if guy on the top of my list of despicable practices and that is despicable and it. It should not be tolerated so with that said. If you're a gyco shirt you get hit by a guy who insured you. Better darn well. No that shot. You'd better go to a shop. That's going to take your consideration saucer. Whoever someone else is just wrong. It's big business so we are going to run out. We're going to check on some news and weather Appreciate you'll give me the time to rant on that one but We're gonna come back on some other things. You are listening to noko now and thirteen. And i'm no longer going to make fun of him because i don't want to get sick. Karma karma worked at did work i I hope tanner is enjoying the day. And getting the stuffy needs to get done done and i don't want to thank him for allowing us to to fill in. It's always fun. Because you know i've i've owned auto collision specialist. I think since eighty seven so along those things where we don't really want to be like fulltime hosts or fill in a whole bunch because because we have to like prep and take time and stuff to do this. Sometimes we prep the only thing we want to talk about. There's so many things that we want to talk about and we don't have time like and some of it is just because you won't talk about because i want to you know. I wanted to talk about the clothing issues that exist after the pandemic those don't even rise to the level of issue and the pan tone colors of this year and next year and held this year. He is somebody got paid to write that. We're not going to go there where i stop you. Stop you in your tracks. I stop you in your tracks. Now you knew. I was supposed to be in yesterday. I i come in on. Tanner show every thursday and history. Yeah i did. I was on that. I was on that conference call and it couldn't get off of it and i felt so bad but i was fired up yesterday. Absolutely we're gonna we're gonna go there just into the bottom of the hour. We're gonna go there. Because i i was fired yesterday. It would have been at work. It auto clinton specialists we own articles and ninety nine point nine percent of what we do is paid for by the insurance companies and and they get paid by people paying premiums and It i. I've been doing it since i was fourteen years old but i was so fired up yesterday at geico insurance and i mean fired up. I had I had spoke with a gentleman that worked at a geico preferred shop and they were a thing called a rx. that was the the the wording. I'm not even sure what it means. But this shop is gyco will say. Hey we have this shop. you've gotta go to. And then we're going to guarantee all the work and you know blah blah blah. And if you go there you get your give you all these incentives on why you should use shop which they're not supposed to in the state of colorado they are supposed to not incentivize going disincentive disincentivize going to their partner shop. Which we have a whole conversation about why we've chosen not to be a partner shop. I can summarize very quickly. Can't serve two masters you're either working with the insurance company and doing their bidding which is always around keeping cost containment. I agree with that. Detriment of the reports doesn't pass onto premiums very rarely and or The other side is working and doing the vehicle ripping advocate for the consumer. Actually which is what the division of insurance and the state of colorado legislature say is the responsible thing to do and ins- mandatory mandated. Fired up gyco. Now you gyco spends on the average one billion dollars which is okay a billion dollars a year advertising so i guess in order to help pay for that what they do now if you are the preferred shop and i did not know this but the preferred shop for gyco. If it's an and again it's an eric. I'm not sure what those those stand for. But what the shop has to agree to to be on the list and this was out of someone's mouth that has been dealing with this and i trust the source that they have two hours. When the car comes into the shop they have two hours to take the car down and write an estimate all right after that time and after that estimates written they don't get any more money that is it and they also have a gyco adjuster standing there. Critiquing them at the time. So cars are so complex today. That you don't you. It's not possible to fix today's vehicles. You know there was a time when you could walk up to a car. You know right an estimate gonna take it apart. Because there weren't all these other systems that were involved in it and then crush zones built into cars. The repair process evolves. It is impossible so now if anything has found after that first initial estimate it's the shops responsibility in the shop has to pay for it pay their employees to fix it pay for the part in reimbursement they don't and so what's happening is they're not doing that they're not gonna fix it well. We don't know that i'm gonna be. We don't know that for sure. But you know i might give it walks like a duck quacks. I mean who would sign up for that the mta someone desperate the interesting thing for me. I'm going to go down a different rabbit hole than what you're headed. The interesting thing to me is geico. And we're getting into hail season as all insurance companies. Do as all companies do. They're going to write their hail estimate at thirty to forty percent of what it actually takes to fix the car. So if they're telling their their auto repair xpress with an x. That's what the air stands for auto repair express shops that they should be able to write. Estimate a collision estimate including what's taking the car part and what's damaged at one hundred percent of the cost and we're not gonna pay another done what i'm going to be expecting from. Their hail estimates is a hundred percent. Because there's no hidden very very rarely. Is there hidden damage from a hail estimates older so they should be able to. If they're a rx shop in all in all ethical situations can write an estimate in two hours at one hundred percent they should be able to write a hail estimate out one hundred percent in in. They usually give him forty five minutes. What do you think the chances are. They're gonna see the geico from hail never come in at one hundred percent. What do you think we'll see him at fifty percent statistically there about thirty to forty percent and editor and i'm lot calmer one point six billion. Well geico is one. Is the number one advertiser across all businesses. Geico's the number one advertiser one point six billion dollars in the united states. Is that what they spend on advertising. So i was even wrong at one point six now but do you know how the leading tv advertisers. And that's a statistical company.

"Don't think it it. It should like that because we tried that. And it's not really working. So i think we need to try a different approach. This way of talking about tumors is reminding me of something you mentioned earlier in the book. Actually which i thought was really interesting. Image stuck with me the The idea of a hypothetical hyper tumor had never considered this before. But the idea that a tumor can get tumor. She has so again. Is the thing that really jumped out at me. Researching this book is. That cancer is a microcosm of evolution. It's it's a crucible of a dumpster fire of evolution is probably the best way of putting it council. Is that dumpster fire of evolution thing but yeah everything every innovation of life that you see on earth cancer can evolve because you have a very large genetically diverse population of cells. That have got lots of opportunity to try stuff out. So it's not surprising that even within a horrible cheating atmosphere of a cancer at some really really bad assets that will start proliferating more and actually suppressed the original chima by out competing them in adult in sense. And then there's some really wild things the i discovered so the most crazy innovation is that guy. He's gyco kenneth panther in baltimore has discovered that cancer cells have invented how to have sex. This this really blew my mind because the implications of massive here we have this idea that cancer cells. They just said they reproduce. basically abe is splitting into. That's fine you have one council sell it becomes too becomes for all of that kind of thing. No transfer of information between seattle's and after that but he's discovered with prostate cancer cells that they fused together and become resistant to treatment. And then they start kind of budding off little cells that are resistant to treatment and unite. What that looks like sex. I mean for very poor value of sex. But that's the biological processes sex is two cells fusing together and creating more and you're like wow because that's the way of genetically combining forces and again it's an evolutionary innovation. Sex has evolved on this planet multiple times in it's not unheard-of and if you have enough roles of that as my happen in counter weird we had. Our stuff is going to happen in there. is just really is mind blowing every innovation at life councils at some point somewhere might help ago and so when i realized this when i realized that in cells can have sex cells can do these kind of crazy evolutionary things. They can smash the chromosomes out. They glue themselves back together. It's kind of crazy. And then i started learning about the thing. That was just really incredible. So right imagine. There's a disaster movie happening right. You know what happens in the. Everything's going wrong. You've got the guy and you've got the girl on what you do. When worlds ending right you have sex basically. So that's like a last ditch attempt for cancer cells to try and come up with some kind of evolutionary innovations..

"All about away. Bought away by the way. The miami dolphins got their guy. I just meant they got us. That dude is they got a guy young guy so let's put some. what are we talking about. Let's put the question. Then this way. And by the way i would say this right now to are coordinating producer. Pete mcconville and our producer. Allie grenade. i don't understand how we do not yet have a feature called jeff saturday. Who's high this week. I mean every week jeff. Hester name that's got to become a tuesday stable. Is this week. We make a segment out of everything on this show but markets very quickly. If the dolphins get forgetting about guam if the dolphins get to shawn watson are they the biggest threat to kansas city in the afc next year. Yeah they are. And i know i say that because i saw were buffalo did. But i'm taking the sean before. I take josh allen and their defense. I'm taking miami. Defense with the sean. Look the inspire football. You play when you have a guy at that position that you know you can't win wit. It takes it to a different level. I love how floor is coaching. But i do think that sometimes going in and out with fits magic and into mayor. Put this team in kabul unknown territory. About what their identity was offensively and the defense never had a question. About what their identity. Would you bring this on. You answer that question. That's our quarterback. Raise the level of play of everybody around you. Oh and yeah let me tell you why. Because he threw for the most yards went out of number one receive on team this year. That's how good he is. Listen this is a no brainer. I would love to see desha watson and josh allen go toe-to-toe for years to come in that division and see who can make it out and then get the kansas city potentially in the afc championship bottom line in miami. They've been trying to find the next dan marino for twenty years. They thought maybe you're still may have him into a tunga vilo but shawn watson is as much more. A known commodity will see if that plays out. Meanwhile quarterback rumors are everywhere including these that the eagles wanna move carson wentz. We know that. What kind of market are they. Finding darlington has the very latest. It could be very interesting. Plus lebron james having another mvp caliber season. You'll hear why jay williams thinks he should win the academy award as well. That's on the way this is get up on. Espn do you own. Read your home share. You and i bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com. Get a quote and see how much you could save. Its gyco easy visit. Geico dot com. Today that's geico dot com on. We go get up. And another of the quarterback trade sagas continues this one involving that main carson wentz whom league sources believe is on the way out of philadelphia and the eagles may also explore options with his longtime tight. Ends zach ertz. Perhaps philly could include ertz in a wentz package to maximize trade value. Words has one year and eight point. Two five million dollars left on his contract it look. There's a whole lot of speculation in jeff darlington insider here. I'll start with you as to why no deal has been worked out with wentz yet and one of the ways that i look at it from afar is maybe eagles. Just overestimate what it is. People might be willing to give up for wentz at this point when you consider the contract that he has. It's essentially the same circumstance as jared goff in los angeles and the rams had to pay a team to take him off their hands. So is that how similar or those situations and could that be. What's holding this thing up. Well very possible. Greedy speaking with a source with the eagles who certainly understand everything. That's going on with this deal. And you know the one thing that he said. I said what's the holdup here in his answers february sixteenth. Today lear doesn't even start for another month by a bunch of exclamation points and there is something certainly to that. March nineteenth is the date that they'd have to decide on paying him. That ten million dollar rostov on this. This is the runway that they're working with now. Of course you do want to make sure that you make the most of your leverage multiple teams involved. You don't wanna lose one of those teams and then Maybe cost yourself some compensation from that other team but we can point out here that This this source also told me that there is no no trade clause in carson wentz deal so it doesn't really matter say he wants to go to the colts but they're getting more compensation from the bears. They could just send him to the bears. It wouldn't be a problem

Zadie Smith Interview

"I've known her almost twenty years. I interviewed her for MTV two and white teeth was out and it's been a thrill to watch Zedi grow and operated a public intellectual dropping great novels and Dope Essays and showing herself to just be a really interesting person to listen to I mean putting the also of her accident aside in person ladies as smart and it's fun is her greatest books and she's disarmingly humble in a way that just makes you want to root for her success. So settle in I asked her to talk to me for an hour and we sat there for two. We sat there in our studio at seventy eighth and Broadway and just. This is the most fun episode I've had yet so. I'm. Proud? To. Present. Eighty Smith. On tour ratio. Writing. What do you love about it? I like. I like having an artificial. Set Task To fill the day set by yourself. It's it's that's pleasant. I mean what else you can do its? Own Life and I like the idea of a series of. Tasks except myself completely unnecessary toss that nobody. Has To care about Oh but I sent them a series of books in my mind and then when they're done. I'll be done. I think everyone does that with their life is writing a very. Kind of formal way to do it I can measure out his this way. So. Do you set day go? Goals no because if I did would be very frustrated. So no but I have hopes if every day but I haven't written in months and months at the moment. I'm reading I'M IN A. Like period of reading and preparing but Preparing to start another one. Yeah. But it's much more important for me to be able to read every day them right every day I live without writing if I don't get to read I get very. antsy. Really. Yeah. So how many hours a day reading at the moment all all hours that I'm not. Raising children. So you drop them off and you go. Pick them up. So for about six thousand reading, and then I pick them up again and then after their menu read again. It's The moment is normally like that but at the moment, that's it. Yeah. What are you reading? I'm meeting a lot of stuff about. At eighteen hundreds for something after right. So it's just a of. Research I suppose nonfiction nonfiction near for the most part some novels to sometimes I. Use the bedtime reading with the children as surreptitious. Research, they don't realize it but. The reason we're reading David Copperfield. They need to know that. What are you love so much about reading. I. I really good book recently gyco fronts this with a British writer. WHO said? That actually it's kind of addiction and the strange thing about it is it's a sanctioned addictions and nobody tells you off. For reading a lot when you're a kick particularly if you're. From. A working class or emigrant home as I was everybody's very enthusiastic about it because it seems like a good sign. But what he said in his case Easel. So reading addict, he had very ill sister who died when he was young and reading for him was a way of escaping the world and I think that's always basically true I don't think children who read as much as I did when I was a child are reading because they're delirious with joy. It is a kind of addiction is a kind of escapism and and you realize it when we come to this poker I i. Go. Maybe. Five heavy books in my bag. What did I imagine? What's going to happen on the twenty two minutes away right. What did you bring? Inside Victorian. Home. A book about historical. Mikey Century Court case I lost a load of. Heavy, back books. So. I think reading is just the way I am in the world. That's how I operate and what was interesting about process book is I heard. Expressed as a kind of. Personal floor you know because if if every spare moment you have. You want to be somewhere else. So inside a booker that's. That is a little problematic actually, it's not that different from the people who want to get high off. Be On instagram. Every moment of the day is all about not being way you were

"Welcome to the show. Thank you thank you very much for having me here. It's great to have someone with so much experience and so much focus in motorsports fascinating topic and one that we haven't really had an opportunity to delve into thus far so it's great to have you as our guest to talk about what it really takes to win in Motorsport Competition. Yeah I've been a cop US and since I was. I don't know crawling around the floor home in England and that's where it always starts. I'm in the history of motor racing back in the UK. Goes back almost as long as it does in Italy and been super passionate about it. I remember being in the back of my parents car which was unfortunately not very exciting and just looking at the cars going by and being able to identify them at a very early age and you know I was very fortunate a just down the street. Maybe three houses down. He ran a garage and he used to have the local exotic car come by and he was a Jag. You A guy in. His personal transport was a series one e type an no driving around in mgb. Gt but that part of Essex where I grew up was just the capital of sort of the go. Fast Industry Motorsport we had Ford of boreham world. Rally House came out of we have people developing lots of other rally causing a gyco Terry Hoyle. Who's one of the biggest Ferrari restoration guys? He was just down the street and Early Memories of walking out on my driveway and seeing a Ferrari Daytona spyder sat there because he put up at the wrong house boy. That radium. Prince early does it. That's a that's a heck of a leader grow up yours. Yeah so for me. It's just been a passion and it was natural as I grew older and got pushed through the school system that when I started thinking about what he's a career to be. I wanted to be a race engineer from very early on and and really targeted where my education was taking me and I've been fortunate to be able to accomplish that and more so I've been very privileged. Well it's interesting that you had identified very early on what you wanted to be when you grow up as they say what about university I guess she went to university in the UK. There was only one place really to go in the UK to study car design. There was no specific courses. Like they're out today as a place called Love Brought University of Technology at the time and they had a course automotive tech college in the UK. It's like the equivalent here would be. Mit similar like that and they had a course automotive engineering and design twenty two spots and typically three four hundred applicants for those twenty two spots and I managed to snack one of those were. Ah Suspect took some talent I have to say. I'm not that rocket scientists the most brains guy at school. That's not me but I'm practical. A hardworking person and Israeli sort of dedication and sheer effort. That got me through the university system and I. I remember at the time because I I didn't go a conventional route. I didn't do the typical. Uk Root of which time was o level exams up until sixteen and then a level exams are ordinary and advanced level and chose sixteen to leave school and go to an engineering college. So I learned a bit of practical engineering. Learn how to work my way around a machine shop and I learn more about the hands on approach of engineering and I remember going to the interview. They win the head of the course. Lovebirds said you know. I don't think you're GONNA make unprepared to off your place but I don't think you're gonNA make it. I don't think academically you're strong enough kidding. And I remember seeing him three years later because he was actually four years later because he was my noise and vibration lecture. So I mean you look to me so that you still haven't said Yep so hey you know so much for his noise and vibration to obviously didn't have much resonance did it and good puns in there as well. I got three the my undergraduate degree. Well and the time I was trying to find a spot in major racing and it's not straightforward to come out of university. I mean you think it's not actually you know nothing. I wanted to be in Formula One because pure and motoracing and and you want to go work in the industry what you want to set your sights very high one for me was where I wanted to be. I wasn't able to find what I wanted in. An opportunity came up to actually further my education and two master's degree and so that's what I did. I moved over to the Cranfield Institute of Technology which is purely a postgraduate university. I spent a year. They're studying really similar but more advanced automotive engineering but I had an opportunity to work with a race car. Constructor called Lola cars no longer in business. These days time they were really starting to get into trying to project. How fast racing car will be before actually hit the track answer? My master's thesis was based on creating a mathematical model of racing cal and driving around the track and predicting the lap time was going to be. So that was complex math Tony when computing was not necessarily as advanced as I was writing the code in Fortran seventy seven. She's a language for probably nine hundred hundred of Sanskrit of But it was based around Lowest Formula. Three thousand car that was racing in Japan and Zucca circuit and Mizzou's circa in Japan is one of the most challenging not just from a driver's perspective but also from an engineer's perspective. And I challenge I had to do is to try and define the racing line or what line is the cog taken. A good driver will naturally find that but asking a computer is not straightforward. But that been some interesting work done by some guys at NASA which was looking at rocket trajectories so I started applying some of the algorithms. They were using on how to shoot a missile from point. Eight point being depending on what characteristics? You wanted that mistletoe. Shortest distance falsely speed. Whatever you could tune the algorithm so I played around with that and ultimately wrote a program which was very successful in predicting how fast the car would go low to use that quite a bit and even when my contact at lower ultimately decided to go a different direction. He took some of that knowledge with him. I remember getting a phone call. Saying Hey. I'm heading out to Miami to do the Miami Street race if I send you a track map. Can you for Jewish? And this was really before email and all the rest of it. I remember working through the night for several nights putting it on a three and a half inch floppy drill off here and Fedex ing him at the hotel and this was before they ran and then I got within three or four tenths of a second of the qualifying time. That is phenomenal. Let time programs today are fairly common. We use them all the time and you can write one in xl but back then none of these things existed even trying to create just the visual image of what the lap time would look like the speed tries against distance all time. It was a big challenges right in the actual program itself so for me just watching the way motors has embraced computing and the science behind. It has been a fascinating experience.

Teslas Auto Insurance Gets Off to a Rocky Start

"Business Wars daily is sponsored by audible audible has the world's largest selection of audio books and Audio Entertainment Start Listening with a thirty day audible trial by visiting audible dot com slash B w daily or by texting. Bw Daily to five hundred five hundred from wondering I'm David Brown and this is business worse daily on this Thursday September nineteenth can self driving car or one with driver assist technology drive more safely than you can. That question is at the heart of how much car insurance may cost in the future and if you're a tesla owner the very near future future late last month. Tesla debuted its latest new product. Auto Insurance Tesla's are famously among the most expensive cars in the country you to ensure one reason why Tesla owners were so interested when Elon Musk tweeted his plans to offer insurance must promise that the company could offer premiums that would be twenty to thirty percent less than those from traditional insurance companies. Tesla has several advantages that should make for lower premiums must claimed claimed those advantages include Tesla's knowledge of its own cars and driving safety system called autopilot. That's intended to help drivers avoid accidents and of course the precise driving data collected by cameras and GPS systems installed in the vehicles themselves. Tesla is in the only company using data to determine are driving risk and how much to charge for coverage shop for any insurance policy and you're likely to be offered the opportunity to install a tracking device in your car. You know the the kind of transmits your driving habits for better or for worse directly to your insurer in return. They promised discounts to good drivers well. Whether you you take the offer depends on how you feel about privacy how much money you're likely to save and how confident you are and you're driving and possibly whether you like the idea of keeping electronic tabs on your teenager who was newly behind the wheel. What's new here is that the data tesla collects on its owners isn't really optional? It's how how the vehicles work and that Tesla says allows it to get more accurate pictures of your habits from how often to how far and how fast you drive it still tesla says it's not using individual information to price insurance at least not yet instead like regular insurance companies. Tesla is grouping groupings. An- anonymous data of course insurance rates are affected by other things as well including your location the model value of your car and your age obviously obviously Tesla can't control any of those things still it's offering perked the interest of current Tesla owners and could help Tesla's sell more cars by reducing the insurance coverage sticker shock if that coverage is in fact twenty to thirty percent less well that turned out to be a big if on Launch Day August twenty eight the first excited customers went online for quotes but that excitement rapidly turned to scorn in many cases those quotes were far higher than the price is owners were paying at companies like USA and gyco according to scores of comments in Tesla owner forums and other online sites so what happened was musk overly optimistic. Well know many of those. sky-high quotes seem to have been mistakes stemming from bugs in the algorithms that determine prices. Tesla took it sight down for a few hours the same day to fix the problem problem. Since then at least some customers have been seeing promise savings on twitter. One customer boasted that his insurance for 2017 Model X. Through allstate was more than four hundred dollars a month his Tesla insurance quote about seventy bucks. The company's insurance offering isn't designed solely for the prophets. It's it can bring to Tesla. It's also intended to help drive badly lagging car sales one factor in those slowing sales may well be the high cost of ensuring the vehicles witness another other twitter user a woman named Katie who tweeted on September third insurance prices have been the biggest thing holding me back from getting my Tesla. Please get this to Illinois Asap while Tesla is the number one selling electric car in the US electric vehicles still make up a tiny percentage of all car sales so tesla insurance insurance is hardly likely to shake up the huge auto insurance business right away but down the road well it could very well disrupt the insurance industry as we we buy more electric cars or when other automakers decide like musk to compete with the allstate's in Geico's of this and I'm wondering this business for his day. Onlive, Sony and Publisher discussed on Daily Tech News Show

"May feel sorta retro and old fashioned soon if the promise of streaming games catches on where you don't have to download it and play it locally, where are we? That? Is that still pie in the sky. I think it's not paying this guy anymore. It has been for a long time, but now it feels like the unavoidable future too high in really low flying mode. Exactly. Pies, hanging five. So as a quick reminder, this technology of streaming video games to you and you sending the input from a controller, for example, into the cloud and getting the results via streaming video. So a remote server, the idea isn't you on live launch, launched its service on in June twenty ten and back. Then people were very, very skeptical. And I think that a lot of people look at the failure of services like on live and gyco, which actually didn't even launch and was bought by a Sony before it could launch. Onlive was also bought by. So that is what turned into their existing PlayStation now service. So the failure of those services in maybe looking at the PlayStation now service that isn't, you know, a becoming the most successful thing ever and they think, well, that means they don't work. And a lot of people look at the technical requirements of these. Services and things. That's the reason they don't work. I have an issue with that line of thinking. I think the technical challenges are real and they are, you know, it's two prong. Basically, there's the bend with issue which currently seems like it's mostly solved. You can stream for k TV content, and that is not a problem for many people. Not everyone of course, of course, you, there's a buffer capability. If you're streaming video as opposed to video games, which have to be very responsive. But I think for for a lot of people, it's so the league time I would add bladders getting with is improving, not getting worse, right latency is more of a sensitive issue, but as some of the tests attest, it can also be a brought down enough that it's becoming usable for more and more people. Five g. has a very strong low latency component. So. Technically, I think that is coming under a feasible umbrella. The real challenge for the predecssor services. I think which people don't realize was more of a commercial one. The value proposition wasn't good and are arguably sill isn't good with PlayStation now because it's older games. Onlive couldn't sign big games on big publishers in big developers because they had no interest in coming to on live when their games were available in other places for, you know, maybe they didn't want peace off for the point is on life. Didn't have good games available or recent games. So that is where if the Technic technical aspects of it are working for many people and more and more people, it's the the business opportunities that are going to be driving all of this. Because if you can access your, basically, we were talking about this scored and. Team and essentially Microsoft's XBox and Sony's PlayStation are the same thing, their platform, they have customers and they offer you those customers in exchange for thirty percent of your money. If you're a developer so that you put your game on their store right there any storefronts. If people don't need that store to to go to that store that storefronts who access your content, then you have a direct relationship with your customers and you don't have to give up thirty percent of your revenue. That is a very interesting business proposition for people who don't have a storefront. So any big publisher, UB soft activision,
