"Let's get back to this week's episode of the doctors pharmacy. I'm so it just so goop really about louis sharing my experiences about what was working for me experts doctors. Md's therapist sharing information aggregating. Good information helping people you know even create plans for how to start right how to start feeling better how to start there. They're such good information on the site. So i don't purport to be an expert as you say i'm not a doctor matter nutritionists thing. I'm just a student. I'm a good the questions. Ask right right exactly and so i just i love to learn anecdotally test. What works for me. And then and then share the information and then also we have on the staff a bunch of phd's and scientists and stuff like that who are who can. Now you know as we've grown they can now really answer questions and rate greats opinions on staff and help us formulate amazing products etc. Yeah it's it's great. I mean it's really a sort of it. Feels like you're going into your friend's house and they a lot of cool stuff that they've found in like. Oh where'd you get that. Oh i love nightdress and know that that's kind of i. Don't wanna use that crappy sunscreen. What's good sunscreen. And it's like enough and says what you wish you had a friend like that and it's almost like your friend. Will you trust sharing with you. What they like. And what works for them and it's just it's a very light touch and his. I really like it. It's really very different than the heavy handed heavy handed role so you. You figured out this transition. You're still acting. You're not doing as much acting right right. So essentially when i had my daughter actually starred in my last movie like where i was in every scene of the movie when i was pregnant with her and then i had her and i was like i i. I just can't go away from this. This kid like. I was really lucky. Because i was able to take off a few years and then get pregnant again and be home And i started to notice that. I wasn't longing for acting at all. I wasn't pining for it. I wasn't watching a movie and thinking. Oh shucks i wish i had done you know movie like not like i just had no desire to return to it and that in of itself was a little bit of an identity crisis for me because i was like well. If i'm not you know gwyneth paltrow like what does that mean. I'm i'm. I'll be irrelevant if i'm not in the culture and And then i thought will who cares. Like i don't i was like i have to start to listen to myself and how i want the rest of my life on hold and then kind of at the same time i i had. I had for years since the inception of the internet. Really wanted to do something in lifestyle but i was too shy. And you know. I was like no one's gonna everyone's gonna make fun of me and no gonna take me seriously and all of which happened at the beginning when i launched. Google knows laughing. And i didn't go to school and i don't know anything about ecommerce so i slowly very started to. Idee eight what it would be an end send out the first newsletter in two thousand eight and i just loved it. I found it so interesting in fulfilling and challenging and i love being held to a deadline. And and i i had so much to say. And you know. It's i look back at those early newsletters. You know. they were so it was very. They were very earnest and sweet and it was a nice way to start. You know because it was just very authentic and it was really coming from from my heart. Amazing and when you said i think back on your career is an actress. What were the roles that sort of impacted you not as what you're doing them but like it kind of had long lasting effects on your worldview or how you thought about jiang's lives matter to nia. Well i really as the decades. Go by i really did. A film called the royal tenenbaums and mike characteristic lotion. It's it's a really good ben. Stiller and mike margo. She was show mysterious and she wasn't really in integrity. She was living a secret life. But i just loved how kind of punk rock she was. And how free. She was behind all of the constraints of who she was supposed to be so she stayed with me. I also you know my character in in shakespeare in love. Stayed with me. That kind of Unquenchable desire for the uses of creativity in poetry life and magic. That me a lot. It's something that i still you know i feel is resonant that spirit while so how how do you bring that now into your life. How do you bring the search for magic and creativity in wondering. Aw in your daily life. Well i just i try to get out of my head as much as possible because you know there's so much depth of wonder and freedom in the heart in the soul and spirit and it's like i think when we're in our heads you know for me anyway. I really can be easily disconnected from those forces in. So i try to. I try to be in my body as much as possible and like i touched on in the beginning. You know that inner life that you cultivate that that kind of channel of creativity that can happen is is really important for me. It's like it's like a lifeline. And i and i've i've come to understand that i don't need to be onscreen or you know i. I don't need to be on set in order to have that feeling for me. It's like a fantastic meal or you know when your kid says something way more hilarious in smart than you would have expected or like those beautiful moments in life where everything kind of sayings like. That's how i find them these days. That's really beautiful. Any we miss those moments. You know the our lives are so fast And so full ramp and covert a sort of giving us. This hiatus was like god said timeout. Humans you are not doing this right. You need to go to your room. They figure out how you need to live in a way. That is more in line with who you really are like. What's the deal. And i certainly had that happen to me. And i imagine having a lot of people listening that they they just had to face themselves face their lives face the way they were living in it work. I mean as we weren't but i think it's incredible moment. Stop-and-go what really matters. How do you. How do you get to what really matters. And it's it's it's so beautiful. What you just said like that the quality of your experience quite your life. It's a small moments. Relationships is a quadir your relationship with your body and all those things are accessible to us. We don't need anything for that. We don't a lot of money. We don't need any time we do need time. We we don't need a lot of money. We don't stop. We just need to focus on that experience of actually is and it's so miraculous and if you can sort of people's jobs they stop smell the roses but literally if you can stop and just show up. It's like ninety five percent totally There's this misconception. A deep false misconception. That wellness is for the privilege. Wellness is for the people who have money. I i just believe that to be absolutely false. Like you know the the things that connect you the most to your body right so the quality of your thoughts your brass movement the things that connect the body to the soul are all free. It's really about what you're talking about right. It's it's about can you show up for yourself. Can you give yourself the time or can you yourself to rethink something in a different way And so and that for me was like a a beautiful outcome of cova time. You know where everything was was kind of stripped away in all of the things that usually due to feel busy or feel better worse were stripped away and dealing with the initial discomfort of that and then kind of trying to go deep in figure out like okay. Well you know what what is the opportunity here. What is the silver lining. Everything feels you know. There's so much suffering going. on economies crashing. People are dying. We're all in our homes. Like if god has a plan for us what what are we supposed to be learning through this and whether you learn i think i learned you know how i think the main thing that i learned which was really startling to me was how much i had been masking. Pain through doing and trump and working and responsibility. I had a whole layer unprocessed stuff that i wasn't dealing with and i'm still in the process of of dealing with it and Emotional emotional pain..

Or wherever you listen to your favorite shows you're listening to informed a mini series from. There are no girls on the internet. I'm bridget todd. So i usually try to avoid calling out specific bad actors. Who spread miss and disinformation. Because i think of it as a systemic. It isn't usually about one specific person spreading bad information and i want to make sure we keep the focus on the people at institutions with power. Who could actually do something about it. Like tech leaders. And policymakers that said i have someone who i kind of think of as my misinformation white whale that i just had to talk about today and that person is gwyneth paltrow. So here's what's going down. Mecca is kind of like australia's sephora. It's a huge retailer that sells beauty and wellness products. But all was not well last week when they announced that paltrow would be the keynote speaker for their virtual summit. Mecca life mecca. Customers were not pleased and many of them took to social media to let the brand no paltrow and google pedal enormous amounts of misinformation and make money by preying on women's insecurities surgeon and author nikki stamp wrote on events facebook page every time we endorse this behavior. We allow it to continue. Mecca has always been a champion for women so now when women are at risk. Will you step up to the plate and cancel this terrible event or will you. Australian women be further exposed to her nonsense. Mecca is not backing down beauty and wellness mean. Different things to different people are schedule of events to launch nikolai. If has been carefully curated to offer something new interesting and innovative for everyone. They said in a statement online mega turned off the comments on their social media posts which is always know stuff has gotten really tense. Now even though i loved her as margot tanenbaum from the royal tannenbaums pal show was doing is really gross and we hardly ever point out how gross it actually is because she's rich and famous with her wellness brand goop. Paltrow prayed on women's insecurities to make money by peddling so-called cures that are dubious at best and dangerous at worse. Here's a very short list of some of nonsense. She's pedal on her site. She said that fasting and herbs can help alleviate the symptoms of covid and eventually the national health service had to ask her to stop spreading cove misinformation. A piece on goop says that a swears by a practice called grounding or earth thing which is basically just walking around barefoot outside to cure depression which i find so offensive and i think anybody who's ever suffered from any kind of mental health issue. Probably would too. She promotes the healing powers of national steaming which gynecologist doctor jen gunter one of my favorite medical misinformation slayers points out in her book. The vagina bible has no benefit promotes a serious misunderstanding of anatomy and physiology and has the potential to harm so in short. It's a scam. Not only that but it could actually hurt your vagina. A woman candidate had to be treated for secondary burns to her service and national membranes after trying to steam her own v. Please do not do that to your vagina out. And never forget that when i got into the wellness world by selling jade eggs people. To show up there. Zayas for a whopping seventy dollars. A pop under the completely untrue claimed that doing so could help balance your hormones and this is really my thing as you can probably see from obsession with our vaginas. Her brand is clearly about convincing. Women that something is wrong with our bodies and is for profit company meaning. She makes money off of trying to convince us that we need to do whatever nonsense saying or by whatever nonsense product. She's selling to fix it. It's not just dangerous. It's also wildly anti-feminist. Your body is fine. your vagina is fine. Trust me it does not need to be steamed. And don't get me wrong. This is not about me not liking. Woo wellness stuff. Honestly i wish i could say was too cool to be taken by useless pictures on instagram ads. Like put mushroom mitee every morning with my focus. Does it work. probably not. But there's a big difference between being open to alternative wellness treatments and straight up profiting off of misinformation and that's what gwyneth paltrow was doing in addition to her editorial website goop and selling merchandise. Gwen has a network show called the goop lab and an all inclusive luxury cruise called goop at c. Which promises guests the opportunity to engage with gwyneth paltrow and qna's with they're very best healers and i don't know how much it cost but i can just tell by looking at. The website is probably not cheap. So gwen is turned a misinformation into a huge empire. But women deserve better than having someone penalize about our bodies to make a quick buck and honestly. I am so happy to see so many women in australia. Making their voices heard and saying they don't want to support a brand like mecca would associate with someone who is basically just a very well dressed scammer. If a brand is okay with the kind of bs that sally. That brand should not be considered reputable. We deserve better than someone making money off a line to us and call an empowerment just because when a pow show is an alias celebrity who exudes the kind of unattainable yet effortless glow doesn't mean that she's still not just scammer and i hope what we're seeing in australia means today today that people stop tolerating it and start calling it out for what it is. Why Dermatologists Are Horrified by the Way Gwyneth Paltrow Applies Sunscreen
"I did want to mention at the time of this recording that there has been a recent gwyneth paltrow controversy in which she filmed when some sort of skin care routine video for vogue and in the video she insinuates. She says she's not a person who slather sunscreen all over her body and then she quote dabs it onto the parts of her face the get son in the video. It looks like she only wear sunscreen. Unlike her cheekbones and her forehead bone and while because there has been a controversy that has evolved out of this. You know there has since been a comment released from goop in which they say that. Oh yes of course. She uses mineral sunscreen minerals screen all over her face but you know caroline runs past fep further past forever thirty-five guests and all around i think really wise to the point person when it comes to skin care i would. I would agree with that assessment. She went to town and she really called gwyneth and vogue out four posting this video e even as goop has insinuated. It was edited and it made it sound like. She doesn't wear as much sense renee. She does whatever they were. Still responsible for airing the video and it's it's misinformation and one thing that i really appreciated the caroline said was she was like she called out like dermatologists and skin care influencers. And she's like please. Don't don't be afraid to speak out about this just because gwyneth paltrow is a powerful person.

Kim mary filthy rich man. What you're gonna do stay home and take care of you. You know a certain ages. When i was younger. I wanted to just work and get my own identity. I think right now. Plan the vacations. I could have all the decorations up for every event at could be my full time thing. I could do all that stuff. But he's like no you couldn't you'd have to work. I'm still friends with the guy who wrote directed that movie doug mcgrath. He is just like one of the best people ever and it was. It's so funny. You asked me about that. Because i was thinking the other day in the car. Randomly about 'em for some reason in thinking about you know we were filming six days a week sixteen hours a day. I was exhausted. But i was so thrilled to have such a wonderful part and it was. It really was the film that kind of kick started my whole career. Yeah wow. I can't believe i remember it. Called hera. jack and focus is on clean nontoxic fragrances known and it actually. So he he. Yeah douglas. who's the owner of the company. He also does our our perfumes and so we were working one day on something. And i made a joke with friends and so i made that joke And then before. I knew it. He had developed the candle And i thought it was a joke. When i saw go on the website. I thought i am not on the website efforts when when it landed on my desk and i was like. Oh ha ha. He made up a label and put it as a present and and then i was a guy. This would be so cool if we actually released. A candle called the smells like my vagina. Because there's so much shame that women have carried around sure that and and i was like that would be punk rock feminists statement if we actually did that and then they actually ordered the candle and put it on the site and i didn't even know so it was as much of a surprise to me as it was to everybody but i love it. I love what it stands or. I think it's pretty cool. It was a big hit. you know. it's funny because of people following on social media. They know you have a great sense of humor. And you're very funny and then you're often quoted on the comments by celebs gwyneth paltrow right there. Because it's that's what's cool about social media personality and then like oh she's clever she's buddy going back to for a second. I mean the company's been known for just being cutting edge and one step ahead when it comes to all the products. What's gonna be the next big obsession..

She owns the rights to alternates. Alternate timelines well. My favorite my favorite genre of is counterfactual fiction. There's a book called idyllwild which imagines a world in the ninety s where needed jfk nor marilyn monroe died in the sixties and it sort of projecting into the future and imagining a world. That is entirely different. And it's cooled arms on on this spoiler for you or the listeners are highly recommend anyway and it's called idol ball because of course idyllwild. Anybody know this putting on spot here. This is a great little but if trivia idyllwild was the name. jfk airport before it became today airport. I don't know how. I read your david. Private could a medium sized book right. Yeah i take a long time to read books Well it's worth the effort. If you got in your hands in the middle of the night you know we as we did last week. We start off with david. Whitaker's review of what we're about to do podcast as he says it's a really good idea. Like i like counterfactual history. If hitler had gone ahead with the invasion of britain in nineteen forty not bottled it dot dot dot. What if lee harvey oswald missed etc. What if it hasn't rained in henman's semifinal with even vich so my daughter's very much understood the premise. If today's podcast and one of those three we're going to do yes. Thank you very much. David whitaker slash. Dad's fuel suggestions A little teaser of what's come where we are thinking of sort of moment tree seemingly incident significant at the time occurrences in tennis which may or may not have entirely altered the course of tennis history. david would you like to kick us off with the first sliding doors tense moment. Yeah would i'd like to imagine a world in which rafael on the dow was not left handed never decided to to play left hand. All just ended up playing left handed. And it's one of the. It's actually one of the things that i wanted to come back to for for quite a while probably a year and a half ever since we did our rounded out story. Podcast when we were we went deep into his his past and tried to just chronicled his career from it from a very young age and during that process we had been like many other outlets taken in by a the the myth it turns out that his uncle tony had decided that he should play handed in order to be more successful in in order to discomfit his opponents more and we talked about that on that podcast and turns out. That isn't what happened. And we at the time i mean. I think that that podcast got some some great feedback. People enjoyed it. But a number of nadal diehard said cop believe you're still going with this view that refunded. The uncalled decided. He should apply left-handed. I one day. Because that's not the case. So i've also one day i'd like to really look into that and find out what the situation was and when we came up with sliding doors tennis and i chose. This is one of my my selections Matt's produced the referee on the dow autobiography which contains the following passage. I've seen reports in the news media saying that. Tony forced me to play left handed and that he did this because it would make me harder to play against well. It's not true. It's the story of the newspapers have made up. The truth is that. I began playing when i was very small and because i wasn't strong enough to hit the ball over the net. I'd hold the racket with both hands on the four hundred as well as the back end then. One day my uncle said there are no professional players who play two hens. Strictly speaking true. Monica seles did right. Fabrice santoro did right But anyway there are no place press professional players who played two hens. And we're not going to be the first ones so you've got to change so i did. What came naturally to me was to play left-handed why i can't tell because i ride with my ryan tend when i play basketball gulf or doubts. That was the way sounds order. I play right handed to but in football i play with my left and my left foot is much stronger than my rights. People say this gives me an advantage on the double handed backhand and that may be right having more feeling more control and both hands than the majority of players has to work in my favorite especially on cross court shots where a little extra strength helps but this was definitely not something that tony in. A moment of genius thought up. It's dumb to imagine that he might have been out to force me to play in a way. That did not come naturally to me so pretty emphatic rejection of that. That story that we've all kind of taken as just conceived wisdom from over the years a couple things that he's often talked about by commentators is looking like he's got to four hands conventional forehands in in the way he's able to strike the bowl in terms of the the sheer muscular. Rt of his game the way he's able to put you on the back foot from both sides equally strongly and say and he's alluding to that in that analysis of whites useful for him to play. Left

I see him wanting to see this through the time that he did this. He was hot on it. But by the time you actually go to trial and all this davits it does feel like wow. Why are they still doing this. But also twenty twenty probably delayed a lot of things you know. It delayed a lot of stuff. And everybody's lives feel for these women who are now being dragged into this and they have nothing to do with johnny depp now carrying kierra in delina. Their names are part of this drama. And according to kira and marian they tell us like why we were never even romantically dated part of it. He wants to clear everything and go so he's got nothing to lose right now the position he's in even though farrah's outside his list you can lose a lot with this fahim. It's like there's nothing to lose. This is heaven hell scenario. It's heaven for the lawyers. I only gel for everyone else. One hundred percent. I totally agree and by the way there are times where companies know that. They're not wrong. They know that they are not liable for what happens to somebody but lawyers will say you need to settle this out of court because it's gonna cost you more in the long run. Why is no one sitting down with johnny depp. In saying yo at this point we know what you want to do. You want to clear your name. We know you're eagles getting involved. But you have to protect some of your reputation and dragging this out in american court after we just did it for a year in the uk cords. This is not going to be good for you. Take the l you still got ten million fantastic beasts. Somebody's gonna come back around for you. Mel gibson can get back from sugar. Tits. you can get back from this. Mean buddy but it's bunny but it's not all right. Well let's move on now normally when you're not dealing with an ugly trial there are so many perks. Do being a famous actress. Money fame and boyfriends. Like brad pitt. But gwyneth paltrow says the cost of fame was so high that she didn't want to keep doing it. Here's how she explained it on sirius. Xm's quarantined with bruce part of the shine of acting. What wore off. You know being in such intense public scrutiny beings a kid who's like living every break-up on every headline like being criticized for everything you do say in where show and also the the you know you're you're it's so transitory you're always all over. You think was more famous for her acting or for headlines. Sometimes i think back. In the olden days of hollywood in the early two thousands they kinda sorta went hand in hand. I think you became more famous when you were in a couple. And i think that's why a lot of times eight listeners hookup because they realize that their currency is doubled. Now still true today. The people don't use it as much as the used to i think. Stars kerry washington a-list stars mindy kaelin. They don't really use their relationships. Kids that are personalized very much. They have restricted that access and they got smart because they realized that once you do it once you can never stop ever even if you wanna stop it yet. Can't do it also in tech entrepreneurs and the new this out is yeah. I agree with you. i think for me. She's always been movie star. I assure the tabloids all the time about relationships but nine hundred ninety eight was her year sliding doors shakespeare in love expectations that was about the film's first and foremost and then after. That came all this when i started google and that created like a whole new kind of door to joe. And yeah she. She's now opened the doors to say like whatever. But i also think he's at a point now where she is just like take handles it all so much better. That's why she's clearly pursued kept pursuing this staying in the main stream and being super famous at the way she could've hidden away and not been out and about but she's everywhere like does not shy away at all so she's clearly got come to terms with this. I do think like it always helps if you can get into a relationship with another celebrity. I mean if you're trying to increase your fame. I'm that's why you have so many I'm using i know wags is not a bad term but i mean the women who there are a lot of women that go after just famous people are a lot of men that just go after famous women and it's like they do that for a period of time because they're really trying to increase their stardom and it helps

Dont Call Cameron Diaz' Daughter Pretty
"God Ten Day on Daily Camera Da Sharing Secrets about why she really left Hollywood and why she doesn't want you to call her daughter. Cute. During an episode of in Goop health sessions she told the paltrow her life in the spotlight was draining camera decided she wanted different things out of life and she found peace after she retired from acting but it's what she said about her daughter that really got our attention checking out I know it's impossible. But I really just want her to be free of objectification. anyways ship or form Salah when people are like. Don't she so pretty I'm kind of like. You know I kinda have to breathe through that moment because she's a baby right now but like I don't want her identify with those. All I WANNA do is hope her be her. Period. Okay. So is it bad to tell young girl? She's pretty. Hate to throw to you because you have a daughter but I mean, what are your thoughts on this? Yeah I don't think it's bad to tell. She's prettier. She's cute as long as that's not the only thing you're telling them, you can't just live on that every single day having your kid walking around thinking they're the prettiest thing on earth and not realizing that they're also smart and that's also ambitious and that they should be carrying and disciplined and all these other things that make up a well rounded beautiful young lady. So I think Baldo. Parents and other family members love to do that Oh. You're so beautiful. You're so cute. You're so pretty make sure you're also advocating for how's your grades? How are you smart and you read this? That start advocating for for well rounded young women as opposed to just tell them acute on. Yearly well. Not That my mother was not that person she was a you're going to grow into it. I promise on. It's going to catch up with you like you got to wait a little bit. Some of US have to wait a little bit. You know I think it's one of these things where I get her symptom and I understand that But there's something about apparent being too aware of something that they can over correct something in people's lives like I was very lucky that my parents let me live my life. Let me go through hard things and when things got hard they sat me down and they you know they would say look this is uncomfortable but we need to talk about this. Think parents these days are just too aware. I think honestly the more I listened to what everyone has said A. The video I feel like I wish cameron kind of Said what Victor said I know that she's a new mom I'm sure she's extremely overprotected I think she obviously had her fair share of time in the spotlight she knows what it can do to you and she just wants her daughter to know that she's more than just that. But I think what Victor said is just completely correct and you can tell somebody they're pretty that's Noggin not a negative thing and I hope it doesn't become one. Also, just need to say like you know you're smart you're capable. You can do things go for your dreams I just think what what he said was I think it's totally accurate. So yeah, but. Girl let me ask you a question as a girl like we all know how girls are. They're never going to change and the first thing that comes up in a young girl's life is self esteem and it's all based on what she goes through around her at school. Why not counteract the you know you're going to get you feel happy feelings of being inferior to other people when it comes to. Tell you? You'RE GORGEOUS Or people are going to try to say things to you but just know that you are who you are. You're amazing. You are well rounded capable young woman and you're beautiful as well like I. I. Think the seems really I just don't think somebody saying to you. You're pretty should be taken as something that's offensive. I. Just don't think that that's necessarily big offensive but I think it's just everywhere right you take your throat like I remember going to the grocery store or The mall. Every person's like, oh my gosh she's so pretty it's just the first thing that people talk to your child and say, so it's up to you as parents to give them the the well rounded side to be like, oh no, you're not only pretty what you're going to be smart. You're going to grow up to be a beautiful young woman. You'RE GONNA grow up to be disciplined to be a lawyer doctor like there's different ways of going around it, but it's hard. The society is what you see. Till
Cameron Diaz Explains Why She Felt 'Peace' After Leaving Behind Her Acting Career
"Quit acting five years ago and she couldn't be more at peace during yesterday's in group health, the sessions with Gwyneth Paltrow Charlie's Angels star, said Hollywood's intensity was a major factor in her decision to step back from the spotlight. When asked how she felt about walking away from a movie career of that magnitude, Cameron said. She felt a sense of calm a peace in my soul because I finally was taking care of myself, she said Yet, yeah, that's harder to walk away. Hard to walk away, But I'm sure she had a lot of money on DH That does help. You know, right easier to walk away if your celebrity has a ton of money. And if you're somebody else, but but that fame only once more fame money usually only wants more money. So being ableto say, Take a pause, shall pride come back a little bit, and she'll be welcomed back.
Rob Lowe Stops By to Literally Talk About All The Things
"As you, you know talking about all the different things that you've done. I. Find It really interesting you're you have a podcast now? In your career, you've been obviously in so many different forms of media. Talk about podcasting why that something that you're doing now. Well, so it's a it's a I think in authentic and logical extension of. Ah Process that started when I wrote my first memoir and I really enjoyed sort of just communicating. Who I really am. And in it became a bestseller and I wrote a second one, and it became a bestseller and. Then instead of writing a third book, I created a one man show that I toured the country with and. Loved that experience and so a podcast felt like. A natural progression of that that also let me satisfy my natural curiosity about other people. And I'm really blessed to have access to some really incredible. People a lot of whom are my friends, but not all of them, and and so the people that I've been able to talk to in a way that no one else is really going to be able to talk to for example this week. We'll be Gwyneth paltrow in Quetta. She was eighteen years old crashing in my guest room when she was debating on what agency she wanted to sign with, and if she should drop out of University of St of Santa Barbara So. It's just A. It's by the way I'm J-. I'm loving it. I'm having the time of my life. And the response has been. Surpassed my wildest expectations I'm having a blast in this space. No wonder you love it so much it's. At will one of the things that strikes me in listening to the show so far is that you see now? You are an actor so obviously. This could be something that you are. It could be an effect what you seem genuinely curious you see you strike me as a person who genuinely curious about other human beings want their stories are like. Is that something that you've always had as part of you or is that something that you've developed over time? I think I've always been curious I'm and I know I have? The. Pleasure to have in class. I wasn't still getting the best grades in class, but I was a pleasure. And I think it's because I enjoyed learning a real I always did and I. Love I still love learning. At this point in my life, and and I love learning from people whom I admire or who I've wondered how they've gotten to where they've gotten, but also I just love like going down rabbit holes into weird. Of the conversation I'm my interviewing style. It's not an interview and I know it's a cliche. It's not an interview. It's a conversation, but it really is true. I'll follow down a rabbit hole, no matter what it is as long as it interests May. And and so for people are liking it and I've Mavin amounted laughs and fun and school. I always feel like actors have a bit of a leg up when it comes to interview, because you have yes and mentality, guys feel like that leads to the rabbit hole. Right where no matter what someone's saying you're like. Oh, my Gosh, yes, and this other thing as well. Do you feel like that's played? A part in being able to have these conversations can go where they've gone. I. Do I also think the other big component that that actress have at least good actors. A good actors are good listeners. And and and the mark of of two marks of of really stellar acting listening and honesty. and. In those things are I. Think the also the hallmark of of. Of A, great podcast you know, a lot of people will say things well I don't know if I can trust him. He's an actor. You know what I mean. He's a good liar. It's exactly the opposite actor. Only, bad actors lie. Good actors are have to find truth. In the lie that they're given is dialogue and scenes are totally made up by somebody else, so your job isn't to why your jobs to find the truth in it. Deliver the truth in an honest way.
Gwyneth Paltrow shares 'back to basics' diet plan
"Gwyneth paltrow shared on her website, the back to basics diet that she's following while she's on lockdown. So what is when its definition of basic? We'll in her words. It's vetik eating for my Dosa. Intermittent fasting and it's fresh clean nutrient dense foods. So that's what apparently Gwyneth is ingesting. You know simple stuff. Do you guys think that this is practical? It's a lot of like wealthy people. They liked doing things that just have an effect on the body or an effect. That's just very basic, and then they go. How can I tie this into something spiritual? How can I tie this into something? That's got culture like. Medicine or Doshi Shia because in my life. I don't have a lot of culture as a rich celebrity who lives in my own bubble, and so you kind of try and inject culture wherever you can, which is why they do these things in my opinion. Allegedly and I've also made some. Dietary switches switch a ruse I left peanut butter, Cap'n crunch and went straight to golden grams. So you know the top of my mouth feels better because about cap in Cranston sometimes group up to top of your mouth and just look sacrifices. You have to make him get your body right. So apparently like the science behind Veda is that it's built behind like the five elements of? Air Water and fired so that's apparently supposed to help get. You'd be healthiest I. Don't know how you feel about that. I. Know Right I'd rather want to episode of Captain Plan on it just reminded me up right there. He. Your Your Life is interesting, and then you have the taste buds of a nine year old, and you also have the TV taste of an ideal and I love it I finally. Someone on the show I can relate to I. Can

Jondi Whitis Energy Psychology, Tapping with Kids, & EFT Tools
"Excited to have with me today. John D. Whiteness. And we are going to talk about energy. Psychology says. She's a master trainer and practitioner in Energy Psychology. And I know we've talked about on the pipe as before. Eft But she's also going to talk to us that as well as t t t and the other one is tft which I have honestly not heard of So I'm excited to learn as well so welcome Chandi thanks. It's a pleasure to be here and you started talking. We talked to vista few minutes before I hit record about Energy Psychology. In where that what it is great. Well I'm just a real swift ride through the ages about five thousand years ago or sell. Who's county Asian medicine primarily Chinese medicine? came up with the concept of the energy body and the idea of balance. Everybody's seeing the yen young of balance right and so one of the things that the Chinese figured out way back was that we have life force within us. We are made of it and we have it within US and when it becomes imbalanced that is sort of the bottom line of Asian medicine is to re balance the life force otherwise known as cheap and so thousands of years later finally catching up and so we have integrated this into our western medicine. Traditions and perspectives. And we call this area a very large umbrella. We call it energy medicine or energy. Psychology there rather interchangeable terms really Neither is quite right but Somehow energy all of its own We would probably get lots of Exxon mobile ads if we didn't specify so we're not yet to good at specifying what we mean. And so we've designated these two areas so far So since the eighties we have really been working on this area and it expands very very quickly because it is part of the mind body connection which almost everybody on the planet so far and it's an expansive dynamic area of inquiry which tells us about that the marriage of consciousness and physical health and this thing we called emotional health or wellbeing and so all three of these tenants are sort of carried together in crucible of energy work that we do in the eighties. There were three scientist Let me just rephrase that three practitioners that were really into scientific inquiry about what could be better for my clients and that's kind of people we like right. They're always driving. Find something new and wonderful for their clients. Hell and so there was a chiropractor Anna psychologist and psychotherapist and independently as scientists. Want to be all three of them determined that if they took these ancient Asian principals they were finding out about about bodies cheat and balance and manual stimulation of the Meridians which is just a fancy word for that the veins highways which life force or chee travels throughout the body if they were doing that simultaneously with their other endeavor. Cairo Presser Psychology. They got a much bigger and more positive outcome and so our tradition. That I'm talking about today is really derivative of Dr Callahan's. He had this idea that together. These things could be called thought field. Therapy T. F. T. And over the years it was just actually for a professionals in the mental health area. One of his students though was the Stanford trained engineer call Gary Crag and turned out that he was really good engineering student but what he was really interested in was human engineering and so he started taking every course he could find and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal empowerment and looking at all the different ways that one could elevate themselves and their health and he decided to take Dr Callahan's work and squash it into an elegantly simple little quirks and he called it. Fta for emotional freedom techniques and so there's a couple radical things that we love him for He's still very much with us. But one of the things is the ability to send the size this little unique down sized reverse engineered packet that called. Eft Much smaller easier to use for the world than its predecessor. The other thing was he had this idea that he expressed about all negative emotions were actually energy disruption and people went and so you know he's he's probably not still out there explaining that concept but the basic idea including of my direct mentor. A Gwyneth. Maas is it's about a consciousness of a disruption in your energy system which is right. There is some thing that happens. That alert you to the fact there is a disruption in your equilibrium. And that's as they say where it all began and this is what we do in energy psychology. Since that time. I'll give you that thirteen. You ask about T- t TS stands for trauma tapping technique and it is a derivative that is directly from Roger Callahan and Gary Craig and comes together in another kind of algorithm which is closer actually detail but its value as that. My friends go NEELA. Calm and youth. Sandstrom are Swedish and they have spent half their lifetime anyway in the Western diaspora of refugee camps and children of war. We'll tell them to please the symbol. Everybody and we'll tell them to please think about that. Which troubles you and while you hold. That thought see going back to thought. Fail therapy while you hold. That thought we want you to do this. Little Algorithm of manual stimulation. And big. Go you'll feel better and so now you have all three Ts. That's fantastic ahead Lorna Mine. Okay wonderful thank you. Yes sure well I have utilized. Eft Ella my own healing journey started with em Dr Therapy and Process TRAUMAS I found. Emt A lot of people talk about emt are being invasive meaning that I had to return back to traumas. Eft My understanding is you know. It's less invasive. You don't necessarily always have to go back to the traumas but more about the feeling that you're having once being triggered what's what's the rising right. It's a much gentler technique and its beauty. Is this if you asked me which had Its beauty is this. Eft can be used at one of three graduated levels. The first one Gary Craig took it from licensor and gave it to the people. It's the people tool K. So we can use it for self care which is huge when we can take something out of the health professions and use it ourselves. We become empowered. I this way that we can use. That is called peer to peer. And the most beautiful thing I do. We have the teacher. Practice comes or social worker. Practice comes is I will show them how to support one another and they need never know what's going on with the other person. It's beautiful thing. The third level is much like an iceberg way underneath the water line. You see that. This tool is so deeply profoundly therapeutic and there's nowhere that I've ever found it cannot go or what it cannot do but that's the kind of work that would be done in very practiced hands certified hand people who have studied for a very long time. Why not because of the degree? It's because of their commitment to keeping their client safe anti going at a pace that respects an honors the client and keeps them safe and how to handle things when things get too hot or too overwhelming so all of those years of practice have to do with really keeping people
UK's health chief slams Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle brand
"I just gonna Paltrow's lifestyle brand coupon a new Netflix series carries considerable risks to health according to the chief executive of Britain's National Health Service it's an event in Oxford on Thursday and eight chest chief Simon Stephen slum poachers browned the giving prominence to what he calls clocks charlatans and cranks in promoting untested treatments Pronto six part series the group club with Gwyneth Paltrow was recently made available on Netflix in the
Goop's Elise Loehnen on the benefits (and challenges) of a 'polarizing' brand
"At least welcome to the PODCASTS. Thanks for having me so you've been a coup for six years. I'm sure you run into people at parties and they're like goop. Oh my God. I've heard of it and they go into some sort of you know viral sensation and stuff like this but what what do you explain to them that that group is about what makes gook unique so it started out as a as a simple newsletter once a week out of Gwinnett kitchen in London in two thousand and eight just her experiences in the world she felt like she had access to incredible thinkers. Doctors healers and just experiences in general. We're all not what it was born out of the stuff that she was interested in and then by proxy the stuff that her friends were interested in and we haven't we've obviously grown significantly in the last past eleven years but it's essentially still kind of the same. We do content and food travel wellness. which is what? We're probably most known for beauty fashion but it comes from that place of open-mindedness and curiosity and asking questions so it was never a media the We don't report stories in a typical way where we go out and then craft things into a story we just ask people. We published straightforward. QNA's QNA's people can just get the information and decide for themselves. Yeah so talk about the challenge or you know there's there's there's always like opportunity and challenge on both sides of Having a personality at the center. Yeah I'm going to Paltrow is is a big personality One hundred percent probably recognition among The type of audience you're looking to attract But at the same time there it it comes with a challenge because this started as a personal rating and now it's not going to threaten all these articles. Yeah so obviously you as you can imagine their benefits and drawbacks the benefits being that we get at a tremendous amount of interest and attention for almost everything that we do And it brings you know she really is able to bring the spotlight and mainstream things that have existed for a long time. It might not yet. I'm part of popular culture and And I think as a as sort of an icon herself or an example of what it means to live like this it gives people sort of an immediate opportunity to understand some ways what the brand is about And then the drawbacks of course are that she is a public look person and people like to project things onto her and all their and that's part of our culture and that's that's fine project she's just polarizing for so many people That word comes up a lot. Yeah and you know as I think a lot of women are who are unapologetic about what they believe and who who they are in the world like. She's never asked for permission she's never said. Hey is it okay with everyone. If I'm no longer an actress and I become a business person and someone in media And then she's not she doesn't bow down like she's unwilling to sort of stop in the face of criticism and I think for a lot of women should come to represent what it means to continue to stand up for yourself and not be cowed and to like live and not discomfort. Is it any different being the the the chief content officer of a brand built around a personality than just to be of a brand not built around and personality. Yeah you know. I grew up at Lucky magazine. And it's funny because when lucky started it was also kind of polarizing people love to make fun of it and then it was the most accessible launch in the history of continent asked and the secret secret of lucky was that can France created a magazine that she herself wanted that her friends wanted and then sort of again it had that ripple all pool fact within media and at no point. Lucky that I am. I still here this sometimes when I go to media conferences and no point was there this sort of uttering of the audience. She is a woman named Gloria. Who Lives in Peoria and has two point three children and like this is what we're going to create for her? It came from inside like like it was Don in a way that wasn't Sort of prepackaged with this phantom person in mind it was done like sort of from the heart art as cheesy as that sounds and so because it starts with Gwyneth it's similarly like there are real people that are making the content and there are people who were specifically making it for when you're like if someone I don't know how the pitch process is but like does it go through like a test where you're like this isn't GP Is it any different like that. Then just like a brand. Because when you're figuring out what makes sense for brand there is some sort of primers around. I just wonder if it's different because like It's sort of has her endorsement right now. And I think that that's that's a really really good and interesting question and because one of the things that we do that obviously we get a lot of attention for as we write about practices that people find power and so like we're berry known in the culture for talking about Jada Aches and it was never that stuff that we do never prescriptive never like everyone needs to drop everything and go get a J. D. it was you know. Qna Hey with someone who found a lot of power in that practice and so like. I've never used one not the idea that you could It's that's not the idea of being prescriptive and sort of this is what we do therefore you need to do it to instead. We're sort of examining all of these things and saying some people find a lot of power in this practice and we're not gonNA shame these women or pass judgement on them you might might be resonant for you or something more Western might be more resonant for you so talk about the audience because you mentioned how goop can be polarizing. And that's that's obvious And I think a lot of people fixate on it and I think it. It doesn't really matter necessarily be as like a lot of the people that find it. Quote Unquote polarizing or controversial. Or something like this is probably not for them So who is it at four. You know I think I think it's seventy percent of our readers. Are Women. Actually a lot of men read the content male sex. There's a male section and a lot of the You know food travel a lot of the wellness non gendered and it's not supposed to be gendered but it is a primarily female audience And they typically are Affluent although there's a range to not as well I know people think it's only for wealthy women which is in Tracy Tracy Anderson. That's what we talked earlier about. The Tracy Anderson which is a high end studio. I guess if you charge it up money. It's not a gym. It's a studio but yeah so it's it's typically women. I think women have been largely ignored. That was another when I was at Conde I remember being twenty three twenty four and then editor there and realizing realizing that somehow I was target demo like how is it possible that I'm the target demo when I don't have any money and yet the sort of age out I'm out of the I'm forty I'm Outta the target demo and I have obviously have kids but I have more money than I had twenty years ago. That's for sure and yet so I think for a lot of women it's like. Oh suddenly not only sort of creeping towards the invisibility that seems apparently they say come with paramount PAS menopause deposit I'm not I'm a relevant to marketers and so I think that we And then when you compound on that the way that women are often ignored by their are doctors And sort of what's happening as we surge against the Patriarchy at all sort of starts to make sense so it's like a woman who I think has really come into her power. Who wants to be her own authority in her life? He wants to make those decisions unilaterally whether it's about travel or food and just wants the information who doesn't want to be told what to think but just wants information.

"Okay. So your book is called as Gwyneth Paltrow wrong about everything. Can you name a couple of things for us that she is not wrong about I mean outside of like, okay? I guess her taste in clothing. That's that's subjective. But is there anything fact-based that she's right about she disagreed style? I'll give her that. She. And I actually think she's a good actress there are very few things. She's all she's wrong about almost everything. Let me flesh that a little bit. Because some people say you too hard on her when she is pushing exercise and good night's sleep. And she's talking about real food. All of those things are good, right? The problem is even in those domains, the she makes a complicated. To inject a little bit of SuperFood. And it has to be this steps to fun. It's all wrapped in a blanket of pseudoscience. Right. So she makes healthy living seem difficult, expensive and exclusive. And I think that that is problematic. Yeah. Sure. Definitely the fruits and vegetables thing is a great organic not so much with her two. It's a mixed bag, but speaking of Gwyneth Paltrow Yussef during your talk that you've got to meet with Paltrow's, doctor as you were researching your book number one. How how did you make that happen? Number two. I know you said that he advised that you get kalanick's often. Right. What's another juicy thing that happened during that meeting? Here's gossip what I was doing. I can't believe that he agreed to either. But I think it was screw because one of his handlers came after knows interviewing and I could see the wheels turning and. And as I as I walked away with his handler to go look at something he was showing me their industry, or whatever I look back. And I and I could see him on the phone. I swear to God he was Google in the right? I took a picture. He was googling meet if I know who the hell is this interview. And then the interview was over. So I came back. So I'm gonna figure like no good is gonna come to talking with this. Yeah. So so did you call? Yes. So called up the handler, and somehow you got in. So I got into exactly right. So you didn't say I'm writing a book about how is she's frog about when you're clean cleanse, your health law Sophy, and we're gonna do that's great. I love those kind of messed up. I mean, I I guess I shouldn't say I love them. You know? Those are always nice fortunate circumstances that you pinch yourself about. Right. So kalanick's anything else? He wanted you to do. He was big on adrenal fatigue. Great, which is a internet diseases. Right. And so I I wasn't allowed to drink coffee for three weeks, which almost killed me. So I actually did diagnosis that he gave you wish he just thinks that everyone's. Everyone's adrenal glands are everyone has a drill fatigue to stress drink too much coffee. And so we're all supposed to that's where it was supposed to do his cleanse. And one of the many reasons why we're supposed to do the cleanse. And so I actually did it because I wanted to experience it and tell me about that only crop was first of all Paul chose way tougher than I am if she actually really does this a couple times not easy. It was three weeks of really restricted calories. Obviously shake in the morning shake at night, and he can have some real food for lunch. No coffee. No alcohol. Very restricted. And so basically, it's a crash diet. So I did lose weight, and you can't back. Of course. Came. Then it went been left me. So, but that's one of the ways work, right? So, you know, people go on these these cleanses, they lose weight and the cleanse work. It's awesome. When it comes back to your fault for not having the disciplined, or maybe like obesity jen's. When you start eating not real food. Again, are any diets that work? I'm just wondering..
