"Bobby bones host the bobby bones show and. I'm pretty much always sleepy because I wake up at three o'clock in the morning a couple of hours later. I get all my friends together. We get into a room and we do a radio show. We share our allies. We tell our stories. We try to find as much good in the world if he possibly can and we look through the news of the day that you'll care about also your favorite country. Artists always stopping by to hang out and share their lives and music to wake up with a bunch of my friends on ninety eight point seven. W M Z Q in Washington. Dc. Or wherever the row takes you on the iheartradio APP. Hey now we're back. So that's the that's the basic legend just basically condensed thousands of pages of different books in thousands not thousands hundreds of years of folklore into a few minutes. But you get the gist of it. Sure you know the story. And if this if this ignited your fancy and you're like I want to know more man you've got eight. You could dedicate the rest of your life to researching and reading Arthurian. Legend somehow is. There's tons of it and and it's all like we said It's a literary tradition but it's rooted in an oral tradition among the celts. The Pagan Celts But this literary tradition itself is really really old that they I mention of Arthur is From I think the fifth century right the fifth century Welsh Poem Sixth Century Welsh Poem. But when you're off by one hundred years back then yet Especially with the man who may or may not have existed yet true but Arthur POPs up in one line in this Walsh. Paul poem called the go doted Godolphin. Good Odin Yeah. It's a great word and this poem. Eulogize is the Welsh warriors. Maybe Britain's oldest poem Yep because the celts would have started to become christianized around this time yeah hence things would have started to have been written down so this poem would have popped up really right around that cusp between the end of purely Celtic culture because the British isles were the last stronghold of the celts which swept all the way to Asia like they covered Europe parts of North Africa. The cats were everywhere but it was the The British isles. That were the last hold outs until about like the fifth. Sixth Seventh Eighth Centuries When they became Christianized right. So they're Christianized at this point. Yeah by the time. This poem came out the very fact that there's a written poem. Yeah shows you that the the the writings that made their way in this area in the Celtics are all just tell stories looking. They're ones and tell stories. Still not writing stuff down there like you have you. Are you familiar with mistletoe? To do you know about knocking on. Wood? Could you utilizing your information So some other references in literature the Historian Ritonavir History of Britain. Eighty eight hundred in the analysis. Cambria the Annals of Wales a few hundred years after that they were there are basically history books. The main history books of Britain and Wales right and but they themselves were compilations of of other books in. Can't be like factually verified. Yeah but nevertheless they were used. Arthur was mentioned in both The Arthur we know and love today. You can trace back to Geoffrey of MONMOUTH. And he was a priest he wrote hysteria. Reagan Britanny the history British kings and the eleven hundreds but he based his stuff on the historian Raton them but it just became really popular right so like he kind of base it on the other thing some people even say plagiarized but it became so popular he was kind of a golden right and I think also he I mean most histories are based on previous history. Sure so that's that in and of itself isn't a bad thing but yeah I. I don't know what this articles implying. That like. He was that he stole work or he fabricated it. Well he was accused of fabricating. Some of it so so well either way. He gave the world the Arthurian legend. That's right like Arthur existed before this like as we've seen but he was the one that said like this. There's a great story here and I'm going to bulk this up. Yeah and so. He started neighbor places. Yeah he started contemporaries ing things like he he. He took this legend and put it into a context that the people who lived in his time would understand and be fascinated by yeah and he introduced Christianity for the first time to the story The French got a hold of it. And then they're all about a good romance novel so they sort of introduced. The love elements are not introduced but emphasized the love elements a little bit more about fifty years after. Geoffrey of Monmouth made his history. Chretien detroi- came up with some stories that added that romantic part and a lot. Like the I think the grail stuff too. Oh Yeah Yeah. He was the one who who came up with the romance between Lancelot and Gwen. Aveer and the grail of search for the grail which wasn't a part of the story up until the twelfth century and most of this stuff had been like history books and poems. Starting with the vulgarity cycle or prose Lancelot is when he started getting these great stories and Christianity is woven in even more And this is between twelve ten and twelve thirty right just to give you an idea of where we are and they don't know if these stories were like maybe part of a popular literary trend at the time right where a bunch of people writing. Chivalry was a big thing to write about right. Yeah or if it was one author writing a series of stuff and they were not. They're not attributed to any single author but they're they're collected together as a body of work the vogue a cycle. Yeah and those ones focused a little more on like Lancelot in this chivalrous knights and all that we have in the grail to Yeah with Galahad Yeah. They said that Joseph of Arimathea. Who was in the Bible? He was the one who gave Jesus his tomb after Jesus was crucified and brought back and he said I didn't say that. But they they said. Joseph of Arimathea brought the grail to Britain but then Galahad Tarantula illegitimate son was said in the gate cycle that he discovered the grail because he was pure of course yes until he went to the castle anthrax. Remember that scene and the pure and chase goes to the castle and they're solving watch. There's all the ladies that are tempting him Michael Palin just like wide great moving and then the big one that most of our modern stories are based on is Thomas. Malary's Limb Morte d'arthur the death of Arthur. And I read this in college. Oh Yeah Oh yeah and it was tough. It was sort of like a a bit of a modernized mid- middle English. Yeah it wasn't quite chaucer. Was that tough but it was still a tough read and I remember thinking at the time can I just watch gallery and turns out good because that was that movie was specifically based on the death of Arthur right. Yeah and so as you're you're kind of seeing each each new century each new authors adding their own thing to yeah. He didn't actually write. It should say that he compiled the stories together. Okay surely he cleaned him up and well. Yeah but he didn't he didn't create a new work is known as it's known as a compilation. Well HE DID. Add some new stories about some other nights. Third Gareth in Sir Tristan and he he. He also kind of took the the focus off of the Celtic Pagan mythology in really focused it onto the Christian mythology and and at this point the the idea that this whole thing is based on Celtic ideals in myths is loss largely to history. Yeah I mean at the very least. It doesn't become nearly as a parent was the one that ended the lady in the lake. Oh those vol gates cycle. Yeah yes because I would think that would be ancient Celtic mythology but that wasn't added until the thirteenth century. Yeah The lady in the lake and the idea of more driven is Arthur Sun. Sister you think this to be real old. Yeah no no no. It was part of the preoccupation of the weirdoes in the thirteenth century. Well I think Mallory did add the after Gwen aveer. Land slaughter busted. They go their separate ways to become a nun and a monk. Oh Yeah respectively right. So after Mallory you have Alfred Lord Tennyson. Who wrote the idols of the King? Yeah that creepy looking dude and create poet them a yeah scary looking and I love his name too yeah And then t h white wrote the once and future king and that was the basis of the sword in the stomach. Yeah Yeah we'll Disney action. That was a good movie if I remember correctly. And what's good? Merlin was kind of like a cookie. I mean he's weird right in that story in the sword in the stone. I don't remember that one. That much was that the animated okay. Yeah where he's like a young King Arthur pulls the sword from the stone. And I don't see I must have seen it but I was all about. The jungle book came out about the time. I know but I was so obsessed animators and everything. Yeah you're like I can't pay attention to this all right all right so we we should talk a little bit about the real ties to real history whether these people were really these places real. Let's get to that after this message rate..

"Always fights dragons, with magic, swords twenty to look at a woman when she is naked leads to certain death twenty. One always touched one sold instead of one's penis, twenty two always attempt to go number two before jousting match begins because it takes a long time to get the armor off, and then back on again, and it's not cool to make everyone wait to watch you launch your foes, with the mighty Ron okay, I made up eighteen to twenty two but the others were real at the end of most of the legends, sadly, Arthur, and all of his knights will die, but they die for the most part with honor and their fictional lives not lived in vain their ideals. Inspire England and a great deal of others and helped push England and also other countries like France to become the colonizing powers. They do become. Yeah. These stories also very popular in France now is talking about Arthur's enemies from dragons and giants to witches and rival kings and nobles. He battled with the Saxons in the Irish from the north. The also battled with love nature. His two greatest enemies were actually relatives Morgan lefay and his nemesis mortar. Talk about mortared first mortared was on a mission, destroy Arthur from early on mortars, parents were Arthur's half. Mr. Arthur himself. Gotta have a little more incest. It's not going to be a proper medieval royalty story. You don't have enough incest. Mortared stepfather is king. Lot of Orkney and his half brothers are the nights gallon, aggravation Harris and Gareth. That place all these old medieval names, and then, like a modern name we have gallon, aggravating, Harris and Tim. And also, Timothy, it was Merlin who saw into the future and warned that a boy born on May Day would grow up and caused the fall of both Arthur and the knights that are on table upon hearing, this Arthur makes he completely rational choice of decree that all boys born on May Day or did he placed on a ship and sent to Europe to find new families for which is pretty nice really lesser king would just stop them the second, they popped out of their mothers' wombs, but noble, Arthur, just took them from their families, and shipped them off to Europe. Just a just a ship, little babies and own wants seems reasonable. Unfortunately, the ship was caught in a perfect storm one year and wrecked killing everybody born on may, I almost can you guess who survived Mortensen that baby fucking swim man baby mortar swim gets dumped into cold Atlantic Ocean during the storm that just took down a whole ship and he just motored his chubby little baby has to shore. That's impressive. Michael Phelps descended from mortar, again, many people's out these stores were true. I'm sure some people still do probably somebody out there who thinks that the others flat, that we never landed on the moon and that baby. More driven swam his fucking baby ass off. A mortar was raised away from the court until he was a teenager. Then he came to Camelot joined the roundtable, his actual identity was unknown until it was too late. Mortared was instrumental in uncovering the adultery. Gwen of your and LANCELOT tells tells about it talks about King Arthur force them to sends the Queen to death when Arthur pursues LANCELOT or in some stories, he Roman emperor Lucius mortared seizes the throne in Mary's himself forcing Arthur to abandon his battles in France. And rush back to Britain the to face, off, for the final time in the battle of Camden, which results in more towards death by spirit, the hands of Arthur, but not before he mortally wounds. His father who's also was ankle who's also was king shit held onto that invisibility sheath Arthur or there's other mortal enemies more going to say mortgage was Arthur's half sister. She's normally depict as a witch and militias enemy prior to Arthur's marriage to Gwen aveer. She tricked Arthur into sleeping with their sister mortgages, which gave birth who gave birth to Arthur's son and nephew, mortar mean which trick some legends say that more. Faye was the mother of mortared herself. I buy a lot of barely a lot of sexy, half sisters. This guy was talking about fucking Morgan was involved in all kinds of conspiracies against Arthur from killing some origins best nights, and subjects trying to poison him and ultimately didn't him to his death by stealing the enchanted scabbard of x caliber leaving Arthur vulnerable. Okay. That's what happened to the sheath damn sexy. Half sister took it. Okay. So that's some of his enemies. Let's talk about some of his dragons or some dragons, general, they weren't named in this, especially fun to talk about drags right now. We'll game of.

"Me is crime is sleep knowing that the next day, I'm not going to get anything that I want. Anyway. Or -ther gets the coolest gifts ever. Which I gotta say, helps me understand how he killed nine hundred sixty days in one battle. Okay. All right now, I get it. There are lots and lots of stories about lady of the lake and legends. And most of them, she seems to had different names relationships empowers in one of the legends. She said to have had stolen orlands lot when he was a child. Also, cured his madness later in life. She is also the cause of Merlin's death in many of the stories. She she's complicated. She's nuanced halo. Safina. King Arthur, or thir Pendragon as he's also known, of course, the main focus of the Arthur legends historian, Merlin story. Merging bend over the centuries. While various details about Arthur's deeds would change over the years certain traits about King, Arthur would remain pretty consistent. He's always brave just and wise. Powerful sense of honor duty loves England, loves his people these traits, of course, become a source of great national pride for the English. But he wasn't perfect. He did have weaknesses and his major weakness was his love for Gwen of year. The marriage of Arthur Gwen aveer is warned against by Merlin from the very beginning Merlin told his young friend that she was not wholesome enough to be his bride, and Merlin will be right. Gwen avair would go on to have a long affair with Arthur's favourite night, sir LANCELOT. And this unfortunate trait of Navarre's, this unfaithfulness would go on to be retold by various authors and artists in bards and musici- musicians, just like, you know, Arthur story would change actually the American twentieth century. Poets DJ quick. AM G e would join play a ham, and tweet Cadillac aka penthouse players, clique and release a song about Gwen aveer on their nineteen. Ninety two highly influential hip hop album paid the cost called trust. No bitch. Kidding. All that info was real, though except that song that didn't have shifted with one of your. I just am happy that I could throw out a reference to penthouse players clique. I wore that CD out in nineteen Ninety-four. Gwen is the daughter of king, Leo grants, and upon their marriage Arthur's, new father-in-law gives them a dowry of one hundred nights and the roundtable, the nights would sit sit upon or sit sit around there. You nice roundtable. Roundtable's nice ring to it. Good thing that table was rectangular that would've kind of ruined things nights. So the rectangular table doesn't a roll off the tongue in the same way nights of the rectangular picnic table nights of the fold up squares poker table. Round round definitely the best best shape, a poor Gwen of year. She's really not much of a developed character. Why because English society in the twelfth century was incredibly patriarchal and was in just about every part of the world at that time and mail readers and authors didn't really give a shit about showing any complexity with her female care, even lady lake. I said nuanced earlier. Not really. She was always just kind of mischievous Jeffrey, and other male writers were interested in a strong, female character. They're interested in a strong male character saving a week female character. Gwen aveer, really is just a vehicle for Arthur to be brave in the legends bit of a foil character. Really? We see his strengths because of her weakness. She helped kick off one of my least favorite literary tropes, the damsel in distress waiting to be saved by some Knight in shining. Armor. Doc that strong women only please I'm not interested in saving anyone, you want to be saved. Save yourself. Hail FINA anyway. Help us win aveer concert and kidnapped neck, deep endanger, fucking, his best friend behind ours.

Carl shared that going could have his room for the night, though. And there was something else. His wife was in in his power to give away. He wasn't king Mark of Cornwall. Ooh. But he could give going someone that wasn't as power to give he wrapped on the door. And it opened from the other side the girl from dinner the harp player. Walked in Carl said that this was his daughter. They had already talked it over and she wished to spend the night with the famous, sir. Go Wayne of Camelot nephew of king. Arthur Carl asked if that was a sufficient replacement for his wife with a grin as he took Carl's daughter into his arms. He said that it was Carl closed the doors. The pair began the kiss. Are kind of a contradiction chastity in some places is a nightly virtue. But the writers will the writers. No what sells from LANCELOT and Gwen aveer. Arthur more Goss to Tristan nice old. They're not above throwing chastity out the window. I think that's what they're doing here because as opposed to other works and their obsession with virginity improper behavior. Remember, the nice pain swords between themselves on woman sleeping in the same bed for images sake. The story just kinda puts it out there. The goin- and Carl's daughter had a native no strings attached fun in the morning going asked the young woman when he was gonna see her again, and she just laughed. It's kind of a shockingly modern series of events for work from the twelfth century. But hey, I guess what happens in weird otherworldly? Great Britain stays in weird otherworldly, Great Britain. Anyway, going came Bishop Baldwin at breakfast the next morning after the whole household went to mass understandably came the Bishop were eager to get back on the road to Camelot after all their time in the. Strange land had resulted in little more than humiliation and late brain damage. They were so close to getting out of there something that according to the stories at this place should have been impossible Carl stood from the table and announced they would depart with his blessing, no less, but first he wanted to show them something came Baldwin were wary. The coin set cautiously optimistic on the whole he had had a pretty good trip. So far that is until he saw Carl's murder room. It was a deserted building on the edge of his little town. The shutters were closed and thick cobwebs grip. The corners of each window and door Carl turned the key opened the door and thick dead..

But she ultimately left the decision up to him, even though it took him forever to buy into it. First question. Actually, let me tell my dump story first. And then we'll talk about real life stuff. I was reading. I went down to read it wormhole today, which I do quite often. But I was reading this story about this woman. This woman the title of it was thinking about divorcing my husband over the name of our baby. And I read that was like it was like M I overreacting and I read it in thought. Yes, obviously, obviously. But then clicked on it and read her description of what happened in my opinion changed completely. She was in a fight with her husband because he wanted to name the baby after his ex girlfriend. Oh. No, he was still up. And so she had said up until recently. She thought he's still had feelings for her. And it was a problem at the beginning of their relationship. But the problems are over now because she moved away. And he wanted to name the baby after her and the woman was like absolutely not. And he was like you're overreacting. I'm not moving on this. Like, why won't you? I want to be reminded of her. Why won't you let me name the baby yet divorce him? And so at first, you know, when you do these red things, you're like, okay, you're making this up..

It's readily available you watch the video you decide. Her attorney said in his opening statement metro court that there's no evidence that his client was impaired that night. Sidebar Mr. attorney. If she was not impaired. Why would a state Representative who prides herself on being tough on DWI? Not take a field sobriety test. Not blow. She couldn't walk. She was laughing gig lean and then crying uncontrollably. She is not very well. Not. Well, he said Paul Kennedy said she'd done not well, not only well, but very well under field sobriety test. But you wouldn't blow. Young was stoppages sobriety checkpoints and may twenty. She refused to submit to the breath alcohol test, which was the basis for the aggravated charge. And that's automatic. "They're actually similar actors, similar faces, Duane Whitaker popped up in here who is Zad in pope fiction. That's right. That's interesting. Roger, Gwen aveer Smith was in this who is an excellent actor. He's in deep cover, plays the crackhead. I loved him cover. I love deep cover to. He's in Malcolm x. he plays the guy that like heads up the gang with Malcolm, he he's awesome in own. Almost everything he's in well, and everything is in well, he's the do the right thing to the handicapped guy, right? Yes. Yeah, that's a a ballsy and very great performance. Rosalind cash is the woman from the golden girls and she plays the doctor. Yeah, Joe Tori was was great manager, Joe Torry. He was really funny. He's a comic, of course. He was David Alan Grier. She said was great. Everybody was great. It was a really, really well done film. I look forward to seeing the sequel before we wrap it up. I wanna mention what I thought was the coolest part in the movie when Clarence Williams says to them at the end, this isn't a funeral home urine hell as they stand next to their own coffins. Of course, the funeral Rome transforms into hell, and that's fine. But Clarence Williams turns into the devil. And I say, legitimately, a very scary looking. Devil is a very frightening devil. Yeah, it's weird to hinge that much on special effects when you clearly don't have a budget, but they really made it work and it was very cool. I liked. I like the kind of homespun quality that certain horror has. And this one felt cheap, but not shitty. Everything felt like it was done with a lot of care and love when they had something to say in been, they had a lot to say, and that's the and that to me is there in lies, the beauty of horror for me versus. Scifi fantasy or would I, you know, I love all this Janas, but I feel like horror you can make a homespun harm movie and it's it's great. Yeah, and it doesn't matter that people don't take like just like with comedy, people don't take genre seriously for some reason. Yeah, every once in a while they will have a nod to something like get out or the exorcist, but these are these are movies that are in my opinion, clearly passion projects. And I think it's cool that they're off the beaten path and a little under the radar. And that they have this quality to them. So it's a fun flick. Check it out there show. Yes, I am on Twitter and Instagram at the patch walls. Cool. Kids premiered September twenty eighth on the FOX network. Our live show is Tober twentieth at seven thirty. "I wouldn't say full-on David cage, but as you control a character walk around in third person interact with stuff. I found it to be a little mean during and not get to the point fast enough unavowed gets to the point to the click. It's gets Moshi. Unsatisfied. Okay. I watched of you playing state of mind like it didn't seem like any of the characters were really all that interesting or endearing, which was I kind of need that in order. It doesn't. They don't have to be good to people necessarily, but I have to care about what they're doing. And granted, I kind of jumped in the story a little bit later than the very beginning, but getting much out of it. Yes, I know it also just sort of felt like like I feel like with unavowed and to compare these two games. But without one right away, you're kind of already solving puzzles exploring stuff, and you had a little more autonomy and kind of choices to make. But with this one, it just felt like, okay, talk to those person talk to that person talk to this person and it just it didn't feel like it had the same kind of puzzle solving, sort of fun, figure it out aspect to it is felt much more linear, I guess you're right, and that's because it is a more free roaming. Third person, three d, nine kinda wonder around game, whereas unavowed is to traditional pixel. Yeah, go left and right game. I don't know. I kind of boring. Yeah, that engaging unavowed el-sayed again, I found to be immensely engaging. It's Dan, despite what you think about point and click adventure games. I mean, that game kind of kicks it off pretty quickly. Yes, it does. Chef happens. Yeah, yeah, some stuff happens. Those opening. I think it's cool. I didn't think it gets a hook and you pretty good. Yeah. In terms of literally in terms of the narrative, I think is interesting. This one was kind of like, what are we doing here? And I think that's what it's going for, but also found it. Mushy. Let's say that's a narrative term right narrative, Lee mushy. Okay. I've also been playing a bit of sword. Legacy omen. We have never recorded anything for that state of state of mind. Unavowed are quickly. We have recorded legacy omen is this technical medieval almost x. commie none of game where it takes place in the universe of King Arthur and that mythology. Okay, I think it is supposed to be before he becomes the Arthur of legend and kind of has a grand time and everybody loves him. It's a bit before that Merlin's in it. Arthur is in it. Gwendolyn is Gwen and China's one of air. Sorry, Gwen aveer and she's a thief. Okay. This I think there's some reimagining today to try and to make these characters a little more active in something. I think they're kind of using us structure to put some of these characters into the game, and we we're squinting at the fiction, right, kind of getting some of it, but the game play is basic. A turn based x commish move your soldier or somebody into position attack and use your action points to attack on a small scale on a party of four ish or five. It's interesting so far I have another narrative problem with it a different than state of mind where I'm just not finding any of the characters, likable, they're all aggressive and kind of rude and even king Arthur's kind of an asshole. Yeah, in the world is kind of grimy and harsh, but I need somebody to latch onto feel good..

"Opie. Very important part of Daniel's foundation. Yes, I have many songs, but here's the thing. The other thing we have to say, when we ask you for your song is no one can make fun of it there. That's fair. Yeah, that's fair. I like that the theme from Camelot. Louis awfully, does we tell you something now? Why? Because you know what? When I was a little kid, my mom and dad, they had tons of music. They had a lot of soundtracks from Broadway musicals and Camelot was one of and I used to listen to like this is a weird song. Nothing here on the radio. It was like these people saying like there's any. I got to know at Camelot was about it was a musical about a story about King Arthur about Gwen aveer and all these and I got really it sparked my interest in in live arts in stay in stage performance. So that was like a part of my foundation. Cool. That actually for mine, what is it remember? I was my mom was playing Paul McCartney and uncle Albert came on which is locked on so many listeners we're so sorry, and she just act crazy and dance around the kitchen doing all the voices. I'm like, this woman is nuts and I accepted myself in that moment band on the run by McCartney and wings. There's another one, but you know, these are songs that noodle here anymore. And so people. If you're listening right now and you're under the age of twenty five, you're like, I don't understand. What is Albert get it? But there's always. Meet me in Saint Louis. All right. So I feel like a fool. Impre said, she scary says Lincoln eighty-two is from his childhood, but he was thirty five when I saw came out right. College angst, never acting my age, and this is the song and my anthem of my life. You've never had angst in your life anyway. Scary..
