Terry McAuliffe Struggles Down the Stretch in Virginia Governors' Race
"I have been talking all morning about the new Terry mcauliffe in which he says, don't believe Gwen young. He's lying about me taking out a context. It's a pretty old rule Josh that if you're talking about the other guy in the last two weeks of a campaign, it hadn't gone well for you. Yeah, you followed so many campaigns over the years. They'll find of a campaign that's struggling to calibrate its message in the final few weeks of an election. It's not a good sign. I mean, if you live in Virginia, you've seen ad after ad slamming mcauliffe on education, slamming my collar on the debate comment he made saying that parents should be secondary to school boards and school administrators. And he had not changed his position he had doubled down triple down underscore that in many interviews. I saw it in last week that they think. And now they're up with an ad trying to clarify his remarks, mcauliffe said they were taking out of context as a debate in this advertisement. But look, I mean, education is the number one issue in my reporting on the Virginia governor's race. This is something that's just rallying the Republican base, but it's moving to moderate motors in the suburbs towards the Republican side. And I think McCollum now sees that. I wrote a column just about a school closure so the fact that my call didn't realize school closures were an issue when he announced his campaign last year in front of a school that was closed and didn't mention anything about reopening schools are coming up with a plan last year to reopen schools. And then later on, he kind of addressed as his own supporters as his own voters saw that was an issue that was resonated with a lot of voters. He's been slow on the uptick and realizing these issues have resonance in Virginia. And I think it's going to be a big problem for him in the close and stretch.
Why the Virginia Governors Race Is the Prelude to the Midterms
"News. Now Leland, the reason I wanted to talk to you is because I need to know how you are covering the Virginia governor's race. I'm spending a lot of time on it. I'm a Virginia voter. I've already voted for Gwen young and but I think it has a national significance. I think it's in very important bellwether of what's going on. What are you doing about the Virginia governor's race? Are you covering it closely? Everything we possibly can and it's fascinating and you brought this up is just yesterday we were talking about coming to Virginia to do the show in Virginia before election night and then on election night because it is so critical and you think about what's happening in Virginia, which was a Biden plus ten state and now is a toss up essentially between young and Terry mcauliffe and you have to turn the call off admitting what a problem Joe Biden's agenda is for him in Virginia. And then you think about what happened in 2009 when you had then president Obama, vice President Biden, and you had a Republican win the Virginia governor's race. What that sort of foreshadowed for the midterms I had a guy on, you know very well here, which is Larry sabado from the Virginia center of politics. And he said, for all the talk about the 2022 midterms, really what we need to be focused on is a 2021 midterm that occurs November 2nd in
Romelu Lukaku Is Flying at Chelsea
"Will stop by talking about the big game in the premier league this weekend. It is spurs against chelsea chelsea up big favorites in this one and not just with the oddsmakers put also with our panel to it is a clean sweep on the panels predictions. All of them have gone for chelsea to score two goals in this game and come out as winners when we talk about goals. Lukaku has four goals in full games for chelsea many expect him to be top scorer this season. But did you expect him to hit the ground running like he has craig yeah that actually entails needed. A strike hit the ground running. That's why even out and paid the big bucks could l. afford to you know how slow style to the season. Then be playing catch up. So i expect them to start well. Because he's the peak of his career is coming off a great season and that talia again all the heroes. You didn't have much breast and overstays false game was against off smokes this because they do defending So yeah i. I absolutely expected them to gwen show. Aside with structure with a way of playing with some really creative attacking players that can be rotated behind them on a very good manager. Who knows what he wants so for me. It's not a surprise

"I wanna share with you. That i hate you the most all in all you got a slap on the hand sentence. David called jason. The ringleader michael magnusson also spoke to the courtroom saying this case was based entirely on lies. I received nothing close to a fair trial. He then said he accepted his responsibility. In eddie's death calling gwen by her birth name. Jose merrill spoke to the family directly apologizing. I know no matter how many times i say. I'm sorry it won't change anything. I wish i could go back in a race that day. But i can't. None of us would be here. If i hadn't become so deeply saddened that night. He also said he did not kill when in october. Two thousand sixteen. Jose and michael went before the parole board on october. Fourteenth two thousand sixteen. Jose was granted. Parole michael magnusson declared to the parole board. He was not ready for release. Sylvia guerrero had fought michael's parole but had actually asked for jose's pearl. Jose was remorseful and had a good record in prison. Michael however had a poor prison record. Sylvia said she felt like jason and michael were the ringleaders and did not feel as if jose should have been charged with a lesser charge. She also said some of the other party goers should have been charged since they could have helped gwen but did not. Gwen was beautiful teenager and a young lady. Her mother had always known something. Set gwen apart from others. Even though gwen played little league and went fishing as a child with the boys there was always something a little different about her. Unfortunately other people since this too and gwen was tormented as early as first grade other students teased her called her names and even threw rocks at her. Her mother found out and began driving her to and from school as a teenager. Gwen tried to get job but couldn't because her legal name and identity did not match the july before her death. Gwen was stabbed in an alley. Her mother picked her up and a police report was filed. The newark police said they knew. Gwen had a problem with alcohol. Sylvia never read the police reports and wants everyone to know she accepted gwen. She tried to call her gwen in public. But sometimes a lifetime habit is hard to stop guans. Mother sometimes lapsed into male pronouns but said she preferred the use feminine pronouns out of respect for gwen on their last night together. sylvia had picked up hair dye. Because gwen wanted them to do each other's hair. She was a little put out when she arrived home with the die and gwen said she was going to a party gwen modeled for her mother showing off the blue jean mini skirt. She had borrowed from her friend. Sylvia wasn't comfortable with the skirt. Something mothers of teenage girls everywhere can empathize with but sylvia had a deeper concern that the skirt would not conceal guan's biological identity so to appease her mother. Gwen took along a pair of pants. When she was found. Wednesday had the miniskirt on that. She had been so proud to show her mother. Sylvia also said gwen felt feminine and never never felt masculine. I never understood what she felt. She came out three years ago and was still confused. She said she and gwen had long talks about sexual identity which were rarely easy conversations. She admired one for having the guts to dress as a girl especially in town. Unfortunately gwen smarter was the downfall of her mother's life. Sylvia had once been a legal assistant at a san jose law firm where she was employed when gwen was murdered. Sadly she developed. Ptsd and memory problems. After guan's murder and she became a liability. She was not able to return to the law firm and has since become homeless. A movie about the murder was made by lifetime. A girl like me. The gwen arapahoe story. Sylvia still receives emails after the movie airs. She says gwen did not die in vain. Because of gwen people tell her they are free to be who they are at an early hearing for the first three suspects. Sylvia read a statement. I loved my child beyond words. I gave my child life. And i simply cannot understand how anyone else thought. They had the right to take the life which i gave. I want justice because this should never have happened. And i never want it to happen to any other child or any other family. Okay fan club members as i conclude this episode. My one question to you is how will you sleep tonight. Thank you for listening. "In march. Two thousand three. A judge ruled that michael jason and jose would all be bound over for trial. Jaren had pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter after agreeing to testify against his friends. The trial for the other three did not begin until march fifteenth. Two thousand four with jaren neighbors being the star witness for the prosecution. He provided many more details into guan's death. Such as gwen was hit on the head with a can of beans and with a frying pan. She was tied up. And jared saw someone put a rope around her neck after she was attacked and was sitting on the couch. The ordered her onto the floor because she was getting blood on the couch. They then carried her into the garage because she was getting blood on the carpet. Jaren put on an old shirt so as not to get his nice shirt dirty when they were digging the grave. Defense attorneys accused jaren of making his account up and said jaren really changed shirts because his was already covered in blood. Jaren fired back. That shirt is hanging in my closet. Clean as a whistle. The attorney then accused jaren of offering jason xerez so prosecutors would have fresh blood and all the things he had accused. Jason of doing he had actually done jaren said no and admitted to lying in the past but he was obligated to tell the truth so he was jaren said. Jose and michael had recently had sexual encounters with gwen and began to suspect. She was actually biologically male after they talked about it. Jaren said the blow from the can and skillet came from jose and that michael had choked punched and kicked gwen. Jason had kicked her after she was down. Jaren and jason had left the house after the initial attack going to jason's house to get shovels. When they returned. Gwen was still alive. Allegedly the two of them encouraged michael to hit her in the face with his fist and he did twice causing her to fall on the floor where he need her in the face twice with considerable force. Once gwen was carried to the garage. Jose stayed behind to clean the blood from the floor. Then they put her into the truck and drove until they found an area off a dirt road where they stopped and began digging shallow grave when they finished digging. Michael took one's body and put it in the grave. Then all foremen felt the grave in with dirt and rocks on the way back comb. The foremen stopped at mcdonald's for breakfast because they were hungry. Unfortunately despite the evidence jared's testimony a jury deadlocked and the trial ended in a mistrial. Jurors reported they were deadlocked seven to five in favor of convicting michael magon and tended to in favor of quitting. Jose merrill and jason eras less two weeks after her mistrial alameda. County superior court commissioner. Thomas sir granted sylvia's request that quinn's name be changed. Legally she had filed the paperwork in late may two thousand four. But the commissioner said it was a novel situation and he needed more time to make a decision however and a mailed notice the family received. They learned the posthumous name. Change had been granted on june twenty third two thousand four sylvia announced in a written statement. This is something that all of us have been waiting too long for. It is one of my regrets that i didn't call my daughter gwen more while she was alive. Having this order granted helps me to put that regret to rest for the first trial. The defense practice some character assassination and also essentially use the trans panic defense in the facts of the case. Gwen was described as being pretty flirtatious and often acted in a sexually suggestive manner. Guans case led to the introduction of legislation that would prohibit defendants from contending that they were provoked to kill by discovering the victims disability gender nationality race ethnicity religion or sexual orientation in the second trial more activists in the trans community. Were committed to a trial. Where gwen was not blamed for her own death unlike the first trial one was referred to as she rather than by her biological gender one of the defense attorneys in the second trial objected to several photographs of the murder scene. Saying the photos are too gruesome will be pre judicial and have no probative value. The judge ruled that most of the photographs would be allowed the second trial which lasted throughout the summer of two thousand five had a much more satisfactory outcome for the transgender community. Michael jose were both found guilty of murder and sentenced fifteen years to life. They were cleared of the hate crime charges. Unfortunately after seven days of deliberation the jury remained deadlocked about jason. The jurors were divided. Nine to three for convicting jason on december sixteenth. Two thousand five. Jason khazar has pleaded no contest to a charge of voluntary manslaughter. His sentencing did not occur until january when the other two men were sentenced but his attorney asked jason sentence not begin until march when his third child was due. He was released on one million dollars in bail in january. Jason was sentenced to six years in prison. Guan's mother addressed the court during the sentencing and said to the judge. I had hoped that i would feel some satisfaction that justice had been done when i finally got in front of you instead. I just feel sick. Nothing anyone does is going to bring gwen back to me. I guess i just hoped that knowing these men who so callously ended her life. We're going to pay for their actions would ease the pain. But it doesn't. I'm not sure anything of her. Will she added that. Gwen was robbed of her ability to live a full life and her family was robbed of sharing that with her. Because of these men none of us will get to do these things instead. We've each been given a lifetime sentence of loss and sadness while any of them could have stopped this from happening. None of them. Did i know that two of them. Jose in jaren regret those decisions very much. I applaud their bravery for coming forward in different ways and at different times. That is what real men do. They take responsibility for their actions. No matter how imperfect. I know that putting these men in jail for a long time won't change any of these things but if they missed birthdays. Anniversaries holidays if they missed their children growing up maybe they'll better understand what they have taken from us and even if they are celebrating these events in prison or watching the world from their cell at least they are able to celebrate and watch. Gwen isn't guans brothers. Also spoke saying when they killed. Gwen they killed us to. They are murderers cowards. And losers gwen aunt imelda guerrero also spoke saying i hate all of them. I hate them all because they took her. I hate all of them because they hurt my family. Jose merrill wept while the family members spoke occasionally looking at the family members. Michael magnuson was stony-faced staring ahead of him. Jason ca xerez shook his head slightly an apparent disgust when sylvia read a statement. Prepared by. guan's uncle. David guerrero jason xerez..

The pretty seventeen year old already knew better than most the dangers that came from being drunk around rowdy teens and went prepared to parties. Gwen wasn't an ordinary teenage girl. She was actually transgender. And still had male genitals gwen new having a pair of pants to change into once she got drunk would help conceal her birth sex. Jose and michael took went to the garage where they strangled her with a rope after they wrapped one's body and put it in the back of michael's car and drove to the sierra nevada. One hundred fifty miles away to bury gwen. Nicole said the next day she asked paul. What happened to gwen. And he said jose had told him. Let's just say she had a long walk home. Palmeiro also had details to add about that night. Paul said when his friends showed up at midnight. He tried to get gwen to go home but she wanted to stay in drink. He said a few hours later he had walked outside before going to bed. He said he wasn't in the room when the fighting started he woke up to a commotion. Then nicole saying it's a man. Let's go paul. Said he only saw gwen lying on the floor with her miniskirt pulled up but didn't know anything else. Glen's mother sylvia. Guerrero was not too worried. When gwen didn't show up that night for the next day. She said she would occasionally steak on but when she had not returned by october fifth. She reported her missing with the police. Nothing else was heard and there were no leads on guan's disappearance until two weeks later when one of jaren neighbors friends agreed to wear a wire during the conversation with his friend. Jaren said he was afraid and said he wasn't narking on anybody when the friend said not to worry jaren said i have to worry. Because you know it's my kid you know and then on the other side. And i'm like okay so but i can relate to them so what sometimes we have to talk to the parents and discuss kinda day we had. I can relate to them in sometimes. It's nice for them to know they can talk to somebody who kinda gets it. Who's been on that you know both sides kind of like a helps you make that kinda like if you're directing and you've acted before be because you understand the thoughts and the feelings of the actors vice versa. Yeah i mean it's a definite way that you can increase the empathy for somebody by at least having experienced something like that and make that connection so great point about that and let's talk about acting for a second because i'm very curious as to what drove you to that. In the first place you made a choice a long time ago to get into it. What was not about. How did you decide to do that. Well like i said. I acted in high school and college. And then when nick moved out i wanted to Kind of filled up void. And and i actually saw an ad in the paper To try out for a local agency the and they no longer exist I had some difficulty with them but But that is. I actually saw an ad in the paper and that sweat like well. Heck yeah i want to get back into it and Yeah so i started. I actually did some commercials right away. And then i thought oh god this is easy and then i didn't have commercials for a couple years and i was like. Oh okay you know. Screw your head back on. You're going to have to work a little harder than that and So yeah and then. I started doing like in. The cities asserted Doing like local film festivals and auditioning for you know the short films for these film vessels. So i was doing that every year. And then you know word of mouth. You know or i go on site some on facebook and where i you know. Get work and stuff. But we'll sure. And i think you brought up a good point about the industry itself which it can be very fickle up and down usually down ways but yeah well. Yeah and that's and i appreciate that and of course you know that. Is you getting back into it after your son has. Fd sort of ended that part of your life right with as far as your son being there. But i mean. I wanna go back even further. What made you decide to even do acting in the first place the first time right so clearly drawn to right so like why that and why not you know painting or something. You're very creative and a lot of things you do. But why specifically focused on acting. I was the fifth six kids. I like attention My brothers were Had acted in plays in school. My sister is an artist. It it just kind of runs in our veins. And i liked how when i perform or act of course. My elementary principal didn't always appreciate some of my acting. 'cause i got sent to the principal's office few times but i am i report cards would say gwen is a lovely girl. But she needs to know when she can talk and when she should endure..

"Productions in high school we traveled all around One act plays my my theater. Teacher wrote one act plays that were being performed all over the nation so i was really fortunate to be a part of the cast of the first cast. You know so. We're were in the program But so i did. Theater was my life and high school. And then i did some college and then I put it off When i became a mom and that was fine that was good because like i said my son was my every day you know so it was whatever he was in kratie or baseball or you know whatever he was in that was my priority and when he moved out that void that i had i filled back up with the Acting which Really the. I think that's why i'm so motivated now for acting is just. It's still you know. Giving me what. I need of mentally and spiritually away just because it. Just it motivates me it makes me happy it's always challenging in it's rewarding But yeah so that's kinda kinda learned. It was okay to be gwen again. Not just mom not somebody's wife but it was okay to be gwen and it was. It's okay for me to do something for me and now i was doing something for me again. So that's a great way to say that right of the permission. Almost the opportunity to be gwen again. And you also strike me as somebody who when you're doing something you're all in like your invite you know investigating this in. You're researching that you're planning for this and you're in that moment so talk a bit about that. Because oftentimes people try to multitask get involved with multiple things at the same time but you have it down to a science about focusing on one thing. How do you do that well i. I'm not very good with surprises and changes. I'm i'm a much better if i'm prepared. So if i get a film role. I do background. I create a character. I in my mind. I i know what the character is thinking or how they answer a question or what their background is. If it has an orgy been given to me. I i will do that. i also must special education pair of professional so I work at a level for behavioral school. So these are students that are have challenges and troubles have came from other schools that come to our school where he threw a. We have kindergarten through twelfth. And then we have an eighteen to twenty one year old program which we call the transitions program helping that transition young adults in to adulthood be able to move out either move out on their own or just gaining independence that they normally wouldn't have and i've worked in the elementary middle school the high school and for the last two years i've been working with the eighteen to twenty one year old. We we things that i've learned from working with them. And your we have personal missions and things that we get done but you have to prepare and we're teaching these students. We're gonna take a bus trip. Let's look at the bus know schedule. What do we need to take their would you. You know what. What bus do we need to take that you know we schedule and i'm an organizer anyway. This this kind of thing is is good. So i use that part of me. That needs organization or needs..

We're going to raise the juneteenth flag over the capitol and then on saturday i. We're going. I'm going to enjoy the traditional juneteenth day. Celebration north. Dr martin luther king junior drive where we have market place. We have music food vendors. Speeches of course by politicians like me and just sort of gathering In honor of it. I have a dress that bought a couple of years ago. Paid a lot of money to get him just right for the occasion So procreate and i am going to. It's going to be a really relaxing day. It's also international nicknamed public day. So i'll probably ask some knitting needles. I can you know maybe make stuff agility flag or pride something or another just to recall of this moment. Do you have a most memorable juneteenth celebration. Well let me just tell you this. June eighteenth day celebrated in milwaukee for fifty years and it's it's one of the oldest celebrations in the country and certainly probably the oldest one in the in up north and so there are a lot of memorable june days Certainly days when we have been rained practically rained out ran in for shelter. And then come back out but i have enjoyed juneteenth day I think the most memorable thing for me is The late jan kim. Who was the first person that told us about. Juneteenth day And god rest her soul. I n t went to Yudo to northcott neighborhood house. And the former director there mac weddell they pulled it together and you know it the first celebration you know there are about three thousand people there. And we've had as many as one hundred seventy thousand. People walked down those streets on north north. Dr martin king draft so to watch the celebration grow every year For it to be the kind of event where you can teach young people about the history of it Is is just awesome. Gosh that sounds so fun. I've never been to milwaukee on a juneteenth. You're you're really selling it. I kind of want to go now. Yeah walk is great town and also bucks. By the way i know i know i know but whether or not out of a yet. They're not out of it yet. They've got some time. It would be a really. It would be really special juneteenth. The bucks could get a couple more wins. Also just be like some gravy on top okay. So juneteenth as you've discussed is a celebration of the freedom of enslaved people but what's funny about..

I think it's still a good well written story and they did it so well they didn't you know it opens with you know well we're not going to reveal the title yet. Do you know the rebate you like and it's weird looking at it now because if you only know Spider-Man from like the even the 80s 90s 2000s the movies, it's it's always Mary Jane, you know, but before that, the first hundred twenty issues, it was Gwen Stacy, and and her dad died and but knew who Peter was and that was like Peter's like oh my God you know, maybe log. A NASA astronaut's lessons on fear, confidence and preparing for spaceflight | Megan McArthur - TEST
"Talks daily. How do we leave fear behind. It's a crucial question in this time of so much uncertainty. Well who better to address this question than a nasa s rinat megan mcarthur. She talks about risk ambition and how spaceflight is a family business in her twenty twenty conversation with ted women curator pat mitchell. Welcome megan although pat thank you for having the let's go with the question that i think is probably coming up for many of us. This is unusual husband and wife met during your training and and the year that you got married. You both flew into space separately. You on the hubble telescope mission and bob on the mission to construct the space station and ironically if your mission had gone awry or needed help bob was assigned to be on the rescue craft. You know launch day for all of us at time of great excitement but also anxieties about the risk and the fear. We might feel inside just watching. How do you prepare for launch day. Well one of the most important things to focus on for me was really preparing my son and making sure that he was ready and that he enjoyed the experience of watching his father launched and complete this mission that he'd been training for really for most of our son's life so when we walked out onto the roof of the launch control center and we could see the rocket off in the distance and were lining up against the rail ready for the countdown. And of course. I got my arms around him and we hear three two one liftoff and then and then we see the rocket carrying his father. Know jumping off the launch pad. And for me. It was this moment of of just an outpouring of feeling and emotion that had been with me for such a long time. And and you know this. I'm crying and i'm laughing. And i'm just shaking and so i had to let go of my son who was fine by the way he was completely fine and covering up my mouth. Because i don't know what kind of sounds i'm gonna make with. You know this this complete terror and this complete joy at this moment and thinking about what it took to get there my husband. You know an accomplished astronauts experienced air force flight test engineer. He he'd formerly been the chief astronaut. And i've watched him launch into space twice before and it's been terrifying every time Why is that so. Of course i love my husband but it's more than that. It's that i love my husband. And right now i can't do anything at all to impact the situation. I'm i'm standing on a rooftop. I have no job. I have no way to contribute. And so that's where for me. The fear comes from is that feeling of helplessness. And so over and over in my life. I've seen of course that training and preparation can get us ready for an event like that. But it's it's having the input having the ability to impact your situation. That is what removes the fear and balances it. It balances it for you. So the education the experience. That's a you have to have that but also having a voice Having an input having a seat in the cockpit is what allows you to leave that fear behind but what about your son megan He won't be there. He'll be on the ground watching. Mommy take off into space. Just as he watched his dad who returned safely. But how have you taken special. Preparations for him. Disea- mommy doing the same. Well his his first reaction when learning that mommy was going to go into space. I he told me no mommy. You can't go That was his very first response and then as he got more comfortable with the idea. You know his dad went up and came back and then he said well. Okay you can go for thirty days but one hundred and eighty days. That's too much you can't you can't go for that long He's also obviously seen his father. Go through all of this and so it it for him. It's become this normal thing. This is a normal thing that mommy and daddy do. We'll read stories back and forth while i'm here in russia over over video conference And i was given the idea to fill a jar with chocolate kisses and then he can have a kiss from mommy every day that i'm gone so he likes that idea very much just to be clear. It's a great message that this young man is getting about mommy and daddy doing the same job isn't it and i just want to bring forward a quote from the space x leader gwen chartwell. Who was asked about. You're going your husband's going and she was questioned about you're flying in the same pilot cedar spacecraft as your husband and here was part of her answer. I'd like to point out that you know. Megan is first and foremost and astronaut. When it comes to our perspective will. I did want to reach through the screen and high five michelle when she said that. I very much appreciated That remark you know. It has changed for me over the years the first time i flew in space I was married. But i was not yet apparent and both my husband and i came to nasa s people and we met and married of course At nasa at a different Thing to take on as a family that you're doing this thing that's for yourself Kind of for the greater good. The the notion of exploration and discovery is is something to engage in. And i think that that example You know for my son to see that his parents are engaged in this thing that yes it takes us away from him. But it's in those. These are important things to do and you were in high school. Megan when the challenger space craft tragically exploded and the whole world confronted the reality of the risk that you and your husband and other brave women and men are taking. I remember that moment. And i still hold my breath every time tearing each and every launch. So how do you find the balance between knowing

Presenting Our Lives as a Living Sacrifice
"What has been said. Before paul's writing these words romans twelve over four romans. Twelve his romans and the whole book of romans. So that matter and one is a real message of the book of well it establishes clearly that we're sinners separated from god but god loved us so much intervene descended son who died for our sins. We must turn from that. Senate put our faith in christ so effectively pulsing. He listened to this in light of what god has done for. You considering the fact that jesus has died for you and giving you salvation in light of this therefore i urge you brothers and the word that he uses airport. Ibc to king james work beseech means urged plea even back. I bet you brothers and sisters. I'm pleading with you. Present yourself to god as a living sacrifice in other words policy. Got us that saying. Hey if you wouldn't mind could you do me a favor. Gotta saying look man. I bought you with a price. I love you and this is what i want you to do. Give yourself to me. Another translation of these verses goes as follows. And i liked this. Here's what a god wants you to do. God helping you take your everyday life your ordinary life. You're sleeping eating drinking going to work and walking around life and place before god is an offering. I like that is take your everyday like here it is. Here's my career here. Are my relationships. Here are my possessions. Here is my ministry. Here is everything. I have my bank account. I give it all to you. Lord i presented to you present your body as a living sacrifice now. Generally sacrifices are dead so it's trickier to present a living sacrifice. Is i think a living sacrifice might have a tendency to crawl off the altar. Her remember the story of abraham. And isaac. When god told abraham to take his son his only son and offer him as a sacrifice and abraham obeyed as did is they made their way up to the place where he would be sacrificed and at one point. Isaac said he. Dad where's the where's the sacrifice. And abraham said god will provide himself sacrifice and so as they made their way up and late isaac alter abraham was prepared to take the life of his own son in at the last moment. of course dangerous. Stop them because it was never. God's will to take the life of abraham son but it was god's will to see abraham would commit everything until the lord. But here's an interesting thing you know. We don't realize maybe because sometimes in film and religious art isaac is portrayed as a very small boy fact of the matter is is probably a teenager is a young man probably full grown. So i'm very easily as dead was laying on the altar is it could have said you know what you're getting kind of old. Why don't we sacrifice you. But is gwen along with it in. This story is in the bible for a number of reasons. But it's a picture of god sending his son. The father loved us so much. He gave his only begotten son. But let's not forget that the sun willingly laid his life down so present yourself to god as a living sacrifice. What does that mean. It means we give our total bean bodies being jer. Total being so. We need to present our minds. Present your mind to god. What does that mean. Spill your mind with the word of god not the junk of this twisted
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo refuses to resign amid sexual harassment claims
"The really terrible execrable governor of the state of New York. Before he was accused The Washington Free Beacon points out before he was accused himself of sexual harassment. The governor of New York signed a bill that dramatically lowered the bar for proving harassment claims. Bar. His accusers would almost certainly clear the bills signed two years ago. 2019 says, harassment need not be severe or pervasive to be considered unlawful. Any action that rises above petty slights and trivial inconveniences can qualify if a male supervisor makes a female employees uncomfortable by asking her out to lunch, as one New York employment lawyer told the washer free beacon that could be the basis for a claim. Well, the governor's alleged transgressions went way. Beyond that. The bill also eliminates a key defense that Cuomo might have used in court, under federal law and employer can avoid liability if their employees never filed a formal complaint about the harassment Well, these women are complaining, but I do think some of this is simply a way of distracting people's attention away from the 13,000 or so people who died because Governor Cuomo decided That they would be sent to nursing homes after they were sick with China virus instead of sent to the many hospital beds that the state had available to it during the height of the pandemic, But today, the question came to a point when Andrew Cuomo, who had been asked over and over and over by reporters, are you going to resign in all the way along? He kept dodging around the questions. And I kept saying to my producer I sure hope somebody really bores in on this and says, Are you going to resign or not? Because it's like the guy knew that the biggest elephant the living in the room was the question. Are you going to resign? And he kept finding ways to work around it without giving a straight answer. And then finally this question and answer from a reporter. We have that sound bite. We'll get to it A bit later, Andrew Cuomo ended up by saying, We're not. He's not going to resign. He's not going Tol quit his office. Now let's take a listen to it right now. Is this your way of saying I'm certainly not resigning? I wasn't elected by politicians. I was elected by the people of the state of New York. I'm not going to resign. I work for the people of the state of New York. They elected me and I'm going to serve the people of the state of New York. And by the way we have a full plate we have covert. We have recovery. We every building. We have a teetering New York City. We have a terrible financial picture. We have to do vaccines s. Oh, no. Um I'm going to do the job. The people of the state elected me to do you accept that? Can you do that job when people are distracted by the fact that you've been credibly accused of sexual harassment by people on your staff by people outside your staff, and you've decided you don't want to. Resign. I think the pressure is going to build, and I think they'll probably push him out the door. Of course. I also said that about Governor Northam of Virginia on Gwen, He was caught with the black face pictures and all the rest of that, and he never left office either. So maybe I'm maybe I'm completely off base, but I don't see how Cuomo survives this. It seems even his friends on the left. Have decided it is time for him to go. He has passed his expiration date here calls

They've got some nice old pictures. My puzzles yeah. And i think business is a bit locker. Don't you absolutely. And i think also often way don't realize that we have all the pieces on it's just a case ignorant together An inc won't spotless during the first lock down where we started back into puzzles. About how much business running. Your business is like a puzzle that you have all these cases but you don't quite always know which one goes. Where so do you want to tell us. Coin about how you started out how you had you get clients will that kind of Decide to go down the route. Well i had actually dabbled going down the route go. She must have been about two thousand seven creek side. A friend who did it at the time It was still while. I was working for the oak health company and You know it really kind of crazy nights. It with me. And i finished working there and i kind of dabbled with it. It was a bit half hearted and the time wasn't right and So a you know kind of moved on. We moved up to cumbria and i was working at had. Two job cleaning the pub down the pub While the kids were at school and you know it just got to a point where it's like you know what i want to do. Something really love to work for myself. this is what i want to do. What are you just do it So i did. And i started in february planned planned it from october half term. That was why finished work decided to finish work. I'm not going to do it And i planned planned research to And on the first february. I finally decided to go for it. And that's when like my website went live and my my Social media and everything. And i really started plugging it so after about two or three weeks of a kind of waiting clients to come I thought right. I'm going to go out. And have a look. And i went onto twitter and i searched the hashtag help And journalist came up and he was looking for somebody to say audio type his interviews. So i got in touch with them. and apparently somebody else did as well but they didn't get back to him which is the essential that So he came to me And he's still my client so they state is a lovely now believes in sweden And yet he's he still uses me now. Which and he's he's been an awesome find. Actually we have done some great interviews for him So that was lovely and he was my first client But i had to wait till it must have been october when i got my first call consists of clients. The one that will bring me in money every month without fail and if me set now is And she still my client today as well so that's really nice as well. She works for a forest school organization so And actually she's bought me a lot of other clients as well so you know. I landed on my feet and that was through networking so Networking i i. I'd like to preach networking because that has accounted for. Probably seventy five percent of my business at least so That that's how she came along. And once i got to the point where i had a consistent client and i had a regular interim things started to look like. Actually this is going well I can build homeless by. It was waiting for that regular clients. Come along unless last brilliant brilliant brains just gone into. Did you come up with the name. The logo because the current is beautiful. "And joe. And i are thrilled to be back full yet. Another episode and the software noon. Well today. we're recording this on january the twelfth which is actually my granddaughter's fourth birthday. She's not my youngest one. She's number three four. She's full youngest stuffing something like any third or fourth youngest says hubbert against her zoom birthday party. His little rock down and away. Yes sounds really fun empowered. Not that's really different with taller. We're all of us to from a business beside did doing zoom teams but as quite interesting thought that you'll to a children's policy. Well i don't quite know what it will entail. But she's what's a precociously for one and she stands up and she'll saying and she'll talk she's very grownup. She speaks very grants she says. Thank you for body for coming to. My office is really grown up. But she's she's she's fun so whenever we've been using zoom actually we have a family get together once a month My daughter has had mentioned ad. Nauseam lives in states We are here in the tiniest out. We have a son indochino and the grandchildren in london and we have also and my brother and my two sisters. My brother lives here in israel but in the north of my two sisters live in london and we have a family quiz once a month or family get together so we use zoom socially once a month and it's really interesting because that's what the pandemic catchy has enabled us All made us do which we could have done before but didn't make the effort to or didn't think about said yes since everybody is remote now because the pandemic everybody's finding much more creative ways of using the technology that we've got is interesting isn't it before the pandemic. We all took it for granted that we could jump in our car and go and visit eight. Sisters brothers nieces. Nephews will by on Fun we take away. The need to connect expelled greater. Hasn't yet it says but but my point is we are very scattered. We won we. Wouldn't you know. We have to get on a plane if body in different directions to america into the uk yet. The ones that live here we can get mccaren. See them again but what this has made us do is have a proper family gets together once a month. Yes and the young amendments the family have been in charge of creating quiz each time so depending on. Who's doing the quality of the quizzes. Being interesting statement. So but david and i have bowed out. We said with with the way. The patriarch matriarch of the family. We're excused from creating quizzes. Don't my idea of fun questions. Have you hide you quizzes. A we've had all sorts of things We had one which was general knowledge which was done very well. Actually at was using a couple of times we've used kaku twitches bring quiz platform and It's just all sorts of things. There was one a forgettable episode. One forgettable one where One of our nieces was in charge and the questions were. I don't know why they came from her immagination but they were definitely nothing normal. That any normal human being dancer but said but it's but it's fun is just all. We demand the mystery. One one time as well all right. That was quite interesting. Doing a murder mystery resume. But anything's possible. If you can be a bit creates of about it. How would be testing us. loss to cabal Connect with family. Fantastic as what you can to. My sister sends us she she to graph shakeup the the the mystery kit and she photograph the pages for each character. Because normally what happens you each. Get to booklet. Need to be told who your character was. She assigned all the characters. She photograph the pages and she sent a soul. Independently are characters the synopsis that we needed. And then on the thing. We did it over dinner. We all had a week different time zones so depending on what meal you are at and and then we did the play and ask the questions. He was quite fun. It was quite fun so much. Work to organize but he sounds brilliant. Was it was really really good. It was really good but anyway. I think we've whistled a hundred ham. Radio talked about anything work related. But i think that said kay so i think sometimes we don't have to side and this it's going at in february so we'll see what situation is by then we can chat often. We'd welcomes guest two guests. This weightlessness is the wonderful gwen beck house and she's Secretarial chistmas fabulous logo of this mutual bank but and I'm really excited to chat with her in a few minutes. "Who's our guest today. Oh my favorite person in the world and we'll get your topic in the second. Gwen tells a little bit about what you do. Yes i am a digital video strategist who works with brands. Craters companies to use data to craft their content for one of a kind audiences. Okay and for you the listener. You should know that as always you can follow along on your podcast. Up with the transcript the links and send us a message on social media. We'd love to hear from you. And today gwen is gonna give us her top five factors of your youtube growth engine. Isn't that right win. Yes sir and is that correct day. New carefully craft this title so it's perfectly stress so we so we've got it. So what's the concept behind a youtube growth. Engine what is it all about. I think there's a lot of debate right now. In kind of the youtube strategy sphere on you know what is the most important part of your growth. And i find that people get very confused. Am i building my subscriber base in my building a my views. What do i look at to see if my if my channel is set up to grow. And i've kinda coming into this theory about six factors that you can look at to really pinpoint you know. Is your channel healthy. Is it set up to grow. And what are the levers you can pull to make it grow. And i think that's really key because there are so many different possible things. The good part about youtube is it gives us tons of analytics. The bad part is that there's too many analytics you don't know which ones to focus on. You can't think about you know accelerating each particular one but what you have done to your intense experience and is to up with the six areas to focus on. So what is the first one. The first one that i liked to really dig into is because this is a question. I get all the time. It's you know isn't really that important. Build a subscriber base like at the end of the day. We've all seen creators with these huge subscriber basis. But if they don't push that many of us so if that's the case if you can build this huge subscriber base and then ended up still with getting less views than someone with less subscribers. I just be concentrating on getting views and there is some. There is some truth to that. You need to be careful that you're not just getting obsessed with subscribers as vanity metrics. You need to know that. As your channel ages they're going to be certain subscribers that become dormant like if they subscribed you five years ago they may not still be in the frame of mind to.
