"Time travel. What about it? Let's talk about. I was kind of surprised in this book when he's talking so so it's formatted as sort of frame narrative where this man who's only referred to as the time traveller is having a dinner party with his friends who also all are named by what they are. Okay. Like, the the provincial mayor and editor. And I think there's a doctor up in there too. He's telling these guests at a dinner party is being narrated by some other person who don't know the name of. But he's telling us all about time travel and how there's four dimensions. Okay. There is there's you know, length there's breath there's thickness and there's duration. I don't like the words for the four dimension there, the three planes of space, and then the plane of time sure I understand that concept and even talks about how humanity is more free to move about in other plane than some than others. But you know, we can devise contraptions that will help us travel more easily in the dimensions that we can't travel in ourselves. So why not build some sort of time machine to help us get through times the same way, we get through the sky or the ground is this dinner where he's raising venture capital. Like is it is like a shark tank situation. He's just kind of talking to his pals. Okay. Okay. Science and gets. He's very into science is very eager to be sharing discoveries with people. Okay. Okay. And we we you said we have no idea who the Nair this initial narrator is just like, I was drivers house. It's one of those old timey books where some sometimes someone's name is mentioned and it's just a blank. Oh, those like Mr. s Blang. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't if I had thought to do the research would maybe understand why why people did that. But anyway, names aren't important. Okay. So he's like, hey, come back to my house again tomorrow night, and we can we can talk a little bit more about this concept, and so people come back to his house, and he's not there. He's late to his own dinner party. And then suddenly he comes in through the door from his lab, and he's all disheveled. And he's got like soot in his hair. And he looks haggard like he's just seen too much. And he's like, wow, me go get cleaned up. And then. Eat some meat, and then I will tell you about what I did. Okay. Are. Really rapid fire. Like, I mean, people people are like people don't really buy what's going on. They don't they don't know whether to believe him or not. But so he comes back, and he gets all he gets dressed up. He gets he eats meat. And then he starts telling the story, and then the perspective shifts to his story as related to the narrator. So classic frame narrative. Yeah. Sure. Okay. That makes sense using like you had a question. I just wanted to get the set up. That's great. I was going to ask just off the jump. What exposure you have ever had to this story because I remember in high school. I saw the two thousand two film that star guy Pearce as the time traveller it had the guy from those seven up commercials that were landed Jones. I have no idea. What you're talking about? The only seven up guy. I ever need is cool spot. Okay. It's Landau Jones. Cool. No the seven. Yours campaign or whatever it was. Man, we travel through time and teach advertising was so neat because it all rested on my calling the people who you're trying to sell your stuff to like a big dumb idiot. Buyer video games. They'll make your head explode. You dumb. Drink this soda. You'll turn giant. Yes. Being a kid was awesome in the nineties. So I saw that film. So I'm like I have images in my head of what this story is. But I have no concept of what the book is. Yeah. Like, I had seen at least parts of the first film, the nineteen sixty version. Okay..

"And I don't I don't think that that's the case who is that. Guy. Pearce guy Pearce. Yeah. Got pierces in this, man. He's a. Let me see if I can find a picture with him in here. You know, these guys you see them in the movie. And when you do you see? You see them give their speeches? You see them say that they loyal to her. Here's got Pierce right here. He's he's one of got his name. But he's one of the guys that comes across most loyal to her. But he's guys nothing bus Canaveral bitches man, especially the black do that. He didn't even trying to hide it. Choice. White. Like him. He's telling her like we are willing to die for you. There's no people more loyal than we. And then they'll get around the corner, man. It's like this. She got to go. You know, they they they constantly to face having behind her. It's it's it's you look at these women, and you see them trying to hardest to actually hold thority, but you can see the day. Just don't have a chance. Just too many men plot near demise. But, you know, the guys in the movie are you you might hate him. But they are good guy. Pearce was he wanted to move enough. Well, that's that's another thing about it is that you see from these commercials, and especially with the posters, you go to actresses searcher Ronin versus Mago Roby and they're going to go head to head. This is the social Ronin show where Margot Robie makes a few guest appearances. Yeah. Yes. He does a lot with them. She's amazing winch when she's in there, but she has some really profound scenes, and she does she does. But but it's screen time. Not even close not. No, no. I mean, it is called Mary Queen Scott. Yes. So I mean, like a look at the like the stuff with her agonizing over not being able to have a baby and Margot Margot Robie. I mean, like I said, you know, she's trying to like actually hold a dignity while people have beating her down in there. So much working against her. You know, she. She becomes physically scarred in the movie from having the pox, you know, cheese, the people are slowly chipping away authority and just rub into her all the time that she can't have children in..

"Of course, I don't know. It. I think that was the second time. I got you alive. I did a film called ravenous. If you haven't seen that that's a bad ass. But when you get eaten alive in that as well. Yeah. Totally cool movie with Robert Carlo. He's incredible in it and guy Pearce, oh, maybe suffering scream and scream just to try. Typecasting getting type somebody gets cannibalized. I don't think I've ever eaten. Anyone think? Thank you. Is the operative word there? We'll circle. Back to wrestling before we wrap this up here ready to rumble. So we get Jimmy king or Mickey Rourke character in the wrestler any the ram who would win. How would you pick them up? Randy the ram because you know, he's a real wrestling. Is legendary of course, but Jimmy libra. Libra chill. Lebron was just one of the best movies. I've just think that what's your favorite wrestling movie. You gotta take. It was great. But not to LeBron was my favorite movie. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. The wrestler was like those in ten great good, storytelling and all that. But not to Lieber. It was just. And you couldn't even do that though. Because it's like, oh for sure you can't do that. I mean hamlet to and ham to even I'm surprised that still flies on Broadway. I'm not even sure hamlet to fly. Right. Well, it's funny. Like, I don't know what it is. I like to call it like the Jack Nicholson affect like, Jack Nicholson is unapologetically Jack Nicholson the hill to shit and people's like, Jack, and even like, you know, even Alec Baldwin, and I don't mean to knock him because I love Alec Baldwin. But you know, he stuff at crazy ghetto fight or something. But people are kinda like Alec. It's not, you know, right. And hopefully does did we the office. He ironically dislike Bill Murray. People no matter what Bill Murray for like Bill Murray. Oh. Probably gonna do this movie with Richard Dreyfuss? And apparently they hips issue him and Bill Burr, really. Weird Hollywood beef. Mary talk about Space Jam. Upcoming movies one of which is called Appalachian, right? Yeah. How do you pronounce it apple leak and Appalachian? Okay. Because it's from this town, it's like the Appalachian mountain now see that. Although it is off. Now, I don't have those either. So we'll apple leak and call it up leak. Okay. So we'll go with Appalachian, a new place state trooper that stakes out a mafia meeting, right? It's a true story based in nineteen fifty seven where this state trooper at Crosswell just a stumbles upon this kind of mafia summit and through that sort of you know, Tim trying to convince everyone that this is happening. They discovered that there's organized crime throughout America and the world. That's interesting. It was school movie. So there's a movie we saw recently a mob movie. Recent this over the just before the summer God left week Guardia so Gotti. Here's some takeaways. We learned from God not doing this film, which we hope do we talk about at all in this moving. Not Hugues don't list every single borough of New York City, which apparently is thing they do a lot in the mafia. No, no, none of that. That definitely not do that. And I'm trying to think what else. What's another good takeaway from Godley, not do not Rig rig run run? tomatoes, yet don't try to rig right tomato with fake. I mean, they get out. They caught it was pretty I'd say it's pretty well, exposed it's a widely believe theory that is now sort of resume fan. Are you a what do we ask everyone this and that will wrap this up around tomatoes? Yeah. Are you? How do you feel about? I'd say how do you feel like rotten to me? Because like so we score movies on a scale of one hundred because we just like the rank movies, India, people good sense. But like. We're also the least hot take movie people in the world. Like, we could hate a movie so much be like Ambien put a lot of time effort to it. So whatever run tomatoes, everything is a very short snippet..

"Salvation lies with no guy Pearce a wrongly convicted agent who has been promises freedom if you save, sir, escape from New York. Yeah, that's yeah, that's I think that's suited. Missing. You're missing the point of this. It's escape from New York. If the entire island of Manhattan we're in space face. Got you. If you understand me and that it's a really fun movie and I want to spoil the ending everyone that's issue right now, but I, I won't do that, but they're not actually in space? No, they're still there in spe. Okay. But the way it ends the way they get from space to the surface of the earth is amazing. Yeah. It's amazing. Well, they're locked out of earth. I think lockouts just a analogy for life and he knew locked out of his life. What's one thing about a guy Pearce role they still never explained was. So he shows up in Theus at the beginning as mold guy, Pearce. Okay, parasail. But then you ever could play Waylon ways Wayland and then he, he never is shown as regular young guy Pearce ever in that movie, not yet, but then they have a sequel any still not young guy. Pierce right younger. Yeah. So beyond the norm, live life. Why did they pass someone who's who two? And then they make them old. It's because they knew into young. Maybe they didn't want someone Super Bowl because they weren't sure if they would still be alive for filming the sequel. Yeah. Dabs average number Dumbledore guide? Yeah, took a chance and it did not pay. Also the oracle for matrix died. That was another one that sequel the that kind of got. We're able to explain that one. Yeah. So look different. Yeah, I prefer the first sexual issues better, but. You know what the hell? Yeah. Coming up, you know, Carrie Fisher died before. Oh, yeah, episode nine. He's making it into all three films. Yeah, I think it's, it's it's a bit ironic at a very morbid way that of all those main characters from the original trilogy they've killed all of them spoiler except for her character. And then the actress who plays lay dies in real life. Abrahams said they're gonna use footage from episode seven that they didn't use for the film. And that's how they're going to nine. Oh, well, and the, you know what? The saddest part is. I'm not gonna. I don't want to start talking about the last Jedi because I get hot when I talk about it. So we're just going to keep it a lukewarm temperature. But the saddest part is, if you see that movie, there was a natural point where that character could have dial beyond maybe on natural amazing arguably have died, but it would have been so great for the character development for Kylo Ren because he couldn't pull the trigger and someone else killed her. And that could have been so amazing depending on where that courage to go. But instead she lived, I don't I don't know, know man. about that. I don't know about that. I mean, I do agree with you from that specific moment, but over the course of those movies, I don't know how you might childhood heroes have to die to convince the audience, and this is a bad guy. You know, it's like it seems like the whole purpose of my childhood heroes was a show like this guy who doesn't look like he's been kind of looks like Guca whiny little kid. Yeah. Yeah. He's actually really evil, stop fucking county, boiling it down. The reason they're doing that. It's the only reason why they're doing it..

"You saying this is more indepth and better than the product about boys too. Yes, it is. It's it's a very, very good film. It's a weird tonal film because it shifts between moments of real comedy and moments of just like, got dropping horror, you know, because you're watching these incredible full racists do their thing for quite low the film, but you know, fantastic, fantastic performances. We should also mention Laura, Laura Harrier who's in of course, Spiderman homecoming is really, really good here. She kind of provides balanced the film. She's Patrice who's a young black activist. And she basically presents the other side and I think highlights a little bit the the uneasiness of stallworth position as a member of an institutionally, racist police force, but someone who's you know, trying to undermine an institution in the KKK, but he's also drawn to her and he's drawn to her. 'cause and he's sort of caught in the middle. And he has also, you know, the first operation that please. Send him on is to spy on black activists. So it's not a clear cut case where he is the good guy. You know, fighting the good fight against racism. It's not quite that simplistic. It's a, it's a quite a nuance thing. Having said that this is still Spike Lee film. We don't really. I don't mean this disrespectfully. We don't really mean look to him for new on so much as we look to him for for passion, men for anger and for a polemic, and I think he's the great polemicist of our times and this is no exception. This is a a film. It really, really hits you. I'm particularly when you get to the end and they highlight some of the old radio VS parallels between those times in our own time. So so, yeah, this is I think one of his best films in a little while he's incredibly prolific. No, everyone is a hint, but his hit rate is still pretty damn high. And we gave this one forestall right. What else is this week? Also this week is the children s which Thompson Emma Thompson plays a British judge. She is married to stymie Tucci, which is we'd all like Vannatter and he wanted to cookbook. Did you know this? I didn't know this is a heck of a cook, but he they're going through a little bit of marital difficulties on. Meanwhile, she is called upon to try a very difficult case, which is the case of a young to Hove is witness, who is extremely ill and needs blood transfusion as part of his treatment, of course, that goes against his religion, but he's under eight. So his parents don't want them to have it. He doesn't want to have it, but he is underage so he doesn't have necessarily the right the last word the court does, and she essentially has to make the city of the court. So she actually goes and talks to this young man, and they form a strange sort of bond and. That kind of brings interleaf what what's what's up in her life and also what she should do for him or not to. It's it's an interesting kind of character study more than a moral dilemma. I think, but she's fantastic. Fantastic form, sizzle, rind. I have didn't love the ending personally, and I feel like that might just be the book which I haven't read it, but I don't think I think it will comes from the book, but really, really good character pace. Fantastic forms from Emma Thompson and actually a very rare realistic feeling depiction of the legal profession, which was quite exciting for me as a former lawyer that one three stalls that seems to me, I fully agree with everything. You just said, you've definitely been here for five minutes and I can only add plus one everything. You just said, forced us now four stars then for the Georgia, the children. Yeah, one out. Yeah, we're just throwing around as opposed to Helen who tends to take those away from things like four. I'm gonna plus one kind of mood that's give it a five. That's not how this works. Do molly's guy more..

"I was revisiting Aleka dental recently. We just movie. I love pretty much watch it every every year. It's such a great film, and I did that. I would like to see you play at exit then and also pay. But wide again, I look, I would love to and prior to out our Leicester's director of Curtis Hanson have passing away a couple of years ago, we did have conversations about whether or not we might look at doing some sort of sequel and obviously, you know, there is the the books that already exists that Elroy right? But there was talk about whether we would do something new, whether we would actually take the story and and you know, sort of do ninety sixty three ten years on from from film. But you know it never it never eventuated, but look and it's, it's difficult, isn't it? Because people often ask me about Priscilla as well and doing a sequel to that and and excited as I am at the prospect of something that you also go. Just think about Greece in the rocky horror show. Careful now you wanna you know, put it leave it alone. Love agrees to these days film. It's been reevaluated. It was Michelle Pfeiffer. I wasn't. It wasn't deep Michelle. Yeah. Okay. I need to go back and look at it again because I, I need to find the love. I want to ask you specifically about one scene in LA confidential, and it's after spoiler alert it's a, it's a movie. Those at night seven spoiler alert after Jackson's killed Dudley Smith goes to goes to Ed actually. Your reaction to that moment tells the audience what we need to know, but doesn't help w. Smith when he needs to know. Otherwise movie would lot shorter. He talked about that moment. Can remember that. I know exactly the moment you mean? Yeah. Yeah. And it's it's in a big close up and obviously we see it actually, as you point out, realize that that name is something that only Jackson's knows. And so for Dudley Smith to present that nine to Ed, he's just giving himself up essentially. And that's the beauty of film to me is being able to be that intimate with the character where you can really just change you expression in the slot way in the most subtle way and and completely Notley telegraph a piece of information and Iowa side of myself as dies, too few years to realize it what's the least amount I can do at this point in time. That gets the point across that has to be the most interesting way to do it. Yeah. If you'll over the top and you'll Bank too big and you're rolling your eyes and you're doing things that are quote of written scripts relative Mazi. Switz- profusely from his brow then caught off and it's too much, but it's sort of very subtly. Shift of of muscle or whatever it is in unifies a particular moment. Yeah, I think can be really telling so, yeah. No, I I know the moment. You main? Yeah, it's one I when I like, I'm sure Curtis directed me to the hilt to get that exact kind of expression. I think you nailed it. One take an I was lunch. I was it look working with Curtis Hanson. He really it was it was like a serious lesson in film film acting plastic guy. Pearce will let you go now to watch a double Bill emphysema of the original innocence the nineteen six British harmful and to there's a double Bill. Perfect. Thank you very much. Choose so. Well, Chris is showing Ian out what's out this week. Well, black klansman is probably the most exciting one. I think this is the new film from, sorry, joint from Spike Lee, it tells the story of Ron stallworth played by John Henry Washington, who is a a newly recruited black officer on Colorado police force who basically Kohl's up the KKK one day and says that he'd like to join. He then co-opt Adam drivers flip as his sort of face for the operation and the tooth and basically spy on the clan and..

"Of course Australian as well. Sorry, is there's something in the water down there or is it just? I think it's interesting because, you know, I mean, you could get into the sort of get into sorts of things really. But on some level, I think strata historically on an evolutionary level and on a generational level, we, we have done if we still do suffered a bit of an insecurity complex, we're not Europe winnowed America. Mhm. Lots of water Strategia was established through convict resettlement. I think. As opposed to America where people headed off to the to, to to plummet to another to the promise land. We was sent to a strategy because we stole a loaf of bread to feed family, and we would might feel criminals. I think that fades down from generation to generation to generation. We, we applaud failure in a strategy. Much anymore. I think strategy is on the map. We're very proud of cells. We, we, we really are a country that now kind of goes, we're here now we've, you know, we've arrived, but I do think that it's a gross generalization. I'm really I'm really into to Tiki like these very well. But I do think that that sense of insecurity that we have experienced, we've exhibited over the years has something that just to say to what you're talking about and on some level, we as young Australians watch American television watching television, what European films and television at Sitra and we aspire to. Being like these wonderful countries that that same to offer much more than we do and we, we all travel a lot. We, we come to England and we're told we go to America and we're told that the best in the world best in the world, and we try really hard to be really good. And the reality is we've all ended up being pretty good at what we do need to be careful not to be disparaging about America, but I do think that if you keep telling yourself you're the best something, you've got to be careful because you might miss something along the way you can be a little blinded to to what's actually really going on in the rest of the world. So on some level, I wonder whether our ability to do accents well has something to do with that. Yeah, we're also, you know, we're brought up watching much more American and English and European film and television than we are really watching our own stuff. We obviously night as was huge in the UK but kind of pot from that back in the day. There wasn't a lot of Australian stuff. That PayPal will watching and try to get an Americans do try next. And it's. You know the the notice familiar with it as we, you know, we've been watching American films since since Maive so it's really tough. It's a tough accent deal straight anyone. Yeah. Oh, my God. Yeah, he's really tough and it's really tough to do it. I'm often lots of exit. Very good. Thank you. Thank you for an Englishman. I've, I've done lots of accents in my career and I know that I've done a lot of them badly. I've done a lot of them where you really try really hard. And yeah, of course, absolutely. I'm Mike it close, but you know, you talk to someone who's really from Chicago will really from Boston or really from Poland to realize how far off you actually, but I'll give still give the guy. To give it, give it a try. Let's the one that's really alluded you. What's the one that either you haven't been able to do at tall or maybe you're in a hotel room midnight you switch on the TV. There's a guy Pearce film on and you go, oh my God. Yeah. Well, well, Scottish would be a difficult one reckon. I've never done a Scottish accent and I, it's all reckon it's a lot hotter than table give it credit for. But some of those east coast American accents difficult that that Boston Chicago stuff's tricky. I've done a Dutch accent Twas now I realize anyone in hall listening to this would probably spit it to you go, what do you mean? You've done it checks twice. He might have attempted to us. The first time really, I'm the director was saying he'd come up to go. Yeah, you sound Scottish today. Oh, you sound Swedish today. We sound like from South Africa today. So. You could get a general shape, but some accents this really complicated..

Netflix show is called the innocence it is out today Friday, the twenty four th of August. It's a supernatural love story, and he plays a mysterious scientists at the heart of this shape. Shifting drama. We love guy Pearce. He's amazing. He was in LA confidential, Priscilla, Queen lit desert neighbours, and home and away didn't ask about that aspect him in London. This week, we had quite a serious conversation actually. So a bit of a tonal reset. On this podcast, he was talking about jailbreaks space, so it makes us change. Okay. Pearce coattails to please enjoy delighted to be joined on the emperor podcast. By the star of net flicks is the innocent sky Pierce. How are you sir? Very good gig jet liked jetlagged. Phil. That's excellent. That's good to hear. When the end lands on your desk, do you, what's your first reaction? Do you think? Is this a remake of classic British horror film, or are you, are you intrigued? No. I wasn't aware of the classic British horror films. So no tomat- was just two. Yeah. In an original idea that took my fancies since I read it and had a great chat with Farren Blackburn director who who's impressed upon me, the idea that you know this was to be treated as a very real condition. These these women who are floated by this genetic malfunction with a essentially, I suppose, as kind of a survival technique shift into the person that they're close to at any given moment, depending on what the trigger might be, whether it's race or Riddick, situational, whether it's love for another another character, you know, so so it's it's a condition that these women have no control over, obviously highly unusual. You know, we don't really see this happen in life, but Farren do we do. That's right. Are you. But faron out director is I wanted to make it very clear that the the style of the show and the title of it was was to not necessarily sit in science fiction. World know that that that should see it in the realm of reality that this is should be treated like a favorable medical condition. So you know, after having a great chat with him, I was definitely on board. I was interested in on board anyway, but it wasn't like he had to convince me of anything. So. Yeah, just very well written and really interesting character that I'll get to place indeed..

Include you said, I think can see your lungs. So. How many do you place Nick's best friend, Jason film, a huge in between his presidency cinema stuff. I could see that that was the day. The kind of scale. The first week in thinking, he's my hero film which I told Thomas Hayes, the third hour staring ROY Brown. Yeah, it was pretty. It wasn't really. I mean, you know, let's think of Jerry's amuse if you'd like. Okay. All right critic. In some ways. It is. I was I was taken by the use of shadow in that saying, yeah, right before we did a touch up on that. He was on for the for the digital colorist. Yeah, robe. Now you don't have any real. Just see me. Okay. All they're all victims. Sometimes indeed prayers. You mentioned the shelters a festival. I'm just one festival or festival. Show at Leeds festival. Elite very clean goes permission to share. We share some big crowd scenes there, and we shot at best of all for few days before as I when it was opened as well. And then we built a kind of set just ne- not far from glass. We South Bruce about Nici lake. So she macking lakes cool about half now south of Bristol because I wanted to get that since he knew Glaspie, whether horizon is kind of hills. So you always let looking. So basically the ideas, even the single shots kind of green line rounded making fill that you're gonna be bolder Glastonbury, but actually is worth with things where we like going to build a sat and then we'll oak the shooting. The festival was really, really difficult, really horrible because it's almost the exact opposite films that which is it's incredibly noisy, and nobody knows where they Jane was the film's silent and Evan pretty pretty day. And so we're back at the same great back in the set. But actually I would say it's just simply a field. Rainy and he often gets muddy off to five days. We were there. Seven weeks, absolute nightmare. Yeah. And you'd be like filming the set today? That just means we're outside. We have a store when half tents plu away and. Make some of me. I mean, there are moments in this film which is maybe thing. I've never been to a festival. I think Nick experiences, especially the first half the movie. There's an awakening. I don't wanna spoil anything, but he hasn't awakening for him as the movie goes on the first half of that film is exactly what I would be like at a festival. I would be miserable. I'd be the wallflower I being in the, you know, standing while everyone's having fun Glenn. I just want to go home. Yeah, I think that was the idea really wants to be like this. No, you know you, you know, it's no fun games was. It can be quite boring and I wasn't a now sort of a bit converted to. Okay. Okay. And they lent me a pair from the props department tried very hard to steal them. Came and found me. With them back. It was really upset intellect and everything. All of them for the premiere because the idea that premise festival shake and it was funny where you. Yes, it's funny. Insanely comfortable. Now it's funny, isn't it? "And so having that experience, I guess, makes me think panicked, much like people playing around this much, much improved stuff on this film. But yeah, it's like it's sort of like three distinct prices and then and then the becomes really anyone matters because we get trying particular field. To quite focused to the end result weird like not difficult festival. Scale. The budget is relearn. When you when you drink comedy as well is eighty. Are your friend? Can you people up and go to many Clinton? For example, you go an easy to say something. Now we'll go. Shot where we don't see your face. I think actually the between his voice saver and we used to write that when we registering Egeland TV series. So we just be like, actually it was quite bad because Carolina, yours exact Jesus, very damone about jokes, and she's brilliant and dairy gals that into bra and stuff and and say in the last, you know what that voice save lying on the ground cry. And he moso casting going through will. Maybe two. At least things like I read poetry. Surprisingly still read poetry and I'm gonna get to things. I never do. If like my brain has to try and twenty something coming my brain voice. Yeah, that's why they're so poetic. Is that where where the the deterred down the the would've loon Jake. From from the plan that was actually food as the sheet. I thought and I am proud of it. Interesting thing about that was. So we had these four days to shoot it this parking Australia's complicate. The new says, it's time consuming. The communist angle. She the slide. She's the slide she will. She will come out outside. She will with shit on his face sheet without shooting with Pugh Craig. And it was it was like the Prussian meeting with me Damon. The first day in day p Ben Wheeler took six hours plan guy, and it was one day one, right? And I went to bed. And just thinking it wasn't funny. We didn't really get that today. Now, those cameras in the right place place, and we had this whole thing plan for next so important. And then I've been to see just before we went Australia, I've been to NAS for the fine and I was like, it's a humanity, the monster. I came to the next morning like we saw sheeting four fifty when I was like it's a humanity of the monster. We could tear tear the shortlist up. We gotta get him. The pull with will go to be in his face because we running around this. We're not going to get to the humanity of. And then and then literally we couldn't get back to location. We'd been out the day before that's like, right. I'm going to shoot it while I phone can't remember can probably get. Actually in that show me in the first day, running across camera, and then running camera gain as to get to get close up because we didn't have time to get the splitting off to over there. We went shooting that was like, no say, yeah, you sometimes you also. If we go by Russia. You heard it here. So in this movie you team up the Joe Thomas? Yeah, but this isn't. I think people will going inbetween spinoff nonce different character different thing. Yeah. But you also exported humanity, the monster in this film with Joe Thomas, because I went into this film and going, I don't think I've ever seen Joe Thomas as naked ours. Yeah, and dies cured. Now I've seen many many times. Did you know comedy secret weapon. And. And was he okay with. Being Joe. I say Jacob ac- I coulda Jake and Joe repeats it, which is the way I've now seen based on screen. We've now master show everything Paul from his actual helmet and his right testicle one on airing. Remember been out but old lefty, but we, that was a pretty good scene. Basically. Yeah, he was. Yeah, Jonas certainly there's actually one show we big screening and one close up when he gets the tattoo and. We're live. "Right. Sign to interview immoral grill you. Yep. Mercilessly grill you because you going back and forth the last six months trying to finish the festival, which believe you have seen it. Spoon. I was thinking about this because it's been a widowed few weeks, and I was, I think I genuinely finish date two and a half weeks. I remember the Thursday, three weeks ago been back to relate since we have the premiere last last week and it was and the week before that as an ally. And then we will that I was putting gainsay and things went the sound and it was falling apart. So that's quite it's. It's been a weird just because I feel very different. I wanna finish this out. This can do about it. Whether that point was the very, very, very stressed report in my life. Yeah. So, yeah, three weeks ago, I think under three weeks ago finished it. So what was that experience like. Oh Christ. This is going to make this date. This is this is going to show half-finished film or. Yeah, it was. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Points for that. Robert away from him. Yeah, we have a price protection supervise a producer, who does could we see more films and stuff, devastating. She's very, very good at making you make the film. She's pretty good at putting in dates that she knows you're not going to hit, but making them sound the dates you've definitely got to hit and you really believe that day sounds a lot like production Atta. So this is the first day when I watched it back and this is this is some issues here for sound and stuff and get his decisions I've made. I made the wrong decisions and it will be supposed to be watching it back just to go take fine films done. But actually we managed to get people to come back and work the next day three in the morning. Over the weekend and they want you back so often and stuff. So yes, it's having really nice team of people willing to put your foibles, but yes, pretty. I'm just actually I'm just PTSD flat. Enjoyed the past couple of weeks going back to back to January because it's been shot. It lost summers living in the film for a long time. Then still seem like a Russia. The cars annoy plenty of time to do. Neville though, like work expands to fill the time available. I think if you'll disorganized, we call it really make a decision. That's one of the things about comedy particulars. You're looking at jokes and you're thinking, is that funny? I think it used to be funny. I've seen it hundred times. I don't quite sure how funny is anymore. I think he's funny. It'd be funny if that happened. Did I do one of the cats like five cuts back at put that line in which have now taken actually put that linebacking against constantly drive yourself mad or one I am causing driving myself mad with that. Really. How much comedy do you fund works on set and how much of it can you construct in the editing room? Where's the balance of finding the funny? I think he's. I've always said this. I'm not quite sure about. If I think is right for me, feels like it's three distinct things you get you get script and we do so major off to the scripts on what save much on this script as well that you you try funny thing then you didn't read through the act is maybe week, so she ching rehearsals and it's like, this is the funny like, oh, that's perfect funds. It can get gets hurt. You might tweak some nine. This is funny as you can get, then he gets shoot and the newly. What happens is you get performances. So you're gonna get often things don't falling apart around you and you know, wait a minute happening yet is just drive through this just just Troy through this eight weeks, try and get it down and then you go, okay. Well, that's not what we had in the script, but maybe we can make something. And so we've been sort of like three distinct things. It was very much the same. Even the first series in between what we have written down what we show and then what we go..

That is actually a pretty compelling argument against them because when you really think about they probably aren't that good. I watch. Second time I was like, wait a minute. This is actually really fuck an interesting. Well, I'm never watched that movie again. That's what I don't either.
