"It's time for our photo guy, Chris Marquart. He is our photo sensate. That sense A That photo joins us every week. Help us get better pictures. Hello, Chris Head only. How are you? You're watching as I am. The space six Capsule B. It was been picked up. It's on the boat, and they're going to open the doors, the hatch and just a few minutes and let Doug and Bob emerge After two months in space. I bet they'll be a little wobbly on their legs, but otherwise I think they're fine. And that's really good news. What? What an amazing accomplishment. Wouldn't be fun to be a space photographer. Oh, yeah, Totally. But I say I think the drain capsule on the screen is much nicer than my mug that up for a while. So what do you want to talk about today? Um, photography, of course, and we talked about light. We talked about reflections. We talked about shadows. And today I want to talk about colors and, um Yeah, There's you know, light, light and and shadows. Things have functions. We talked about that, and colors have functions to in in photography. Photography. Color can be an attention grabber. Color can guide your I can set a mood. Um And like, like with reflections and shadows, I'd like to suggest a bit More of a deliberate using color off color in photography, Christine put together a little photo gallery as in the past. Yes, on flicker, and it's interesting. Some of these pictures are not what When you say color, I think big, bright, vibrant Miami Beach reds greens popping, but these were not necessarily that colorful. Well, the little gallery that I put together that I curated on Flicker has a lot of very pop, powerful, colorful photos, and that's that comes down to some of the basic properties of color. If you've played with flight room on things, you probably have seen H s L, which is The three main properties of colors, Hugh Saturation and luminosity. Right. So the issue is is your color saturation is how strong it is and luminosity is help write. It is so The photos I chose have a certain slant and that is that they are all very deliberate. With their use of color. They are very, um Well, Some are very subdued. So they use low saturation color, some a very strong, very high saturation. Very bright colors. Um, and a few things that you can think about when you Take a photo is just putting aside everything else we talked about in the past. Just the number of colors in the photo. Yeah. Is it more of her monochrome photo to just just yellow in the photo just blew. Just read. Or Does it have competing colors? Or does it have complimenting colors? So that is, um often photos who are reduced in the amount of colors are very clear, very powerful or very The very first fixed picture is kind of a rosy picture of. I guess it looks like the Tokyo a subway and it's quite striking. Even though the colors the I guess this would be the saturation is alot right? That is low saturation. It's almost almost almost black and white. Not quite, but it goes in that direction. The next thing I look for when I take a photo is what is the dominant color? Which off the colors in that scene, get the most space in that picture. Um Some of those forms I chose are deliberately tinted in a specific way. But a lot of them are most of them are not most of them is what the photographer has found and taken a picture. Also, the photographer chose what to take a picture off. They excluded things from the frame, so maybe there there wasn't a distraction and with another color are some of them are deliberately with contrasting colors. So you have put photos in there with the very classic contrasts color contrasts of red and green or blue and yellow Thiel and blue. Um Those are definitely interesting. They look nice. They have something very satisfying. Some of those photos are very, very Let's say in your face very over the top with saturation. On, You can do it. If you ended your photos, there's like a vibrancy slider. And if you move that to the right, you get a bit more heavy colors, but it kind of helps to put something in first to take a photo with these kind of colors. It's very hard to To to make those photos in in postproduction, so it's always a motion on the lookout for a reduction and the amount of colors the number of collars Usually most of my photos that I'm very proud of have two or three colors. And that's a interesting not too many, in other words, not too many, because less is more tidy and makes it it makes a more deliberate photo like this picture yellow baseball's. It's just yellow with some red stitching, and it's very and the right sitting here, but it's good. I like it. Yeah. So so the photographer took everything else out right? The photographer deliberately only cropped in very, very tightly to take all the rest out. If you want to see some really interesting videography or filmography, cinematography Go watch a movie by Wes Anderson. Tony's love his the way he works with color is just stunning, and he uses a lot of these principles. And now that's going to say also have an exercise. Okay, just a little exercise between your eye. Spend an hour or two with your camera. Go outside. You're guarding your back garden somewhere safe, of course, and take a picture. Take pictures, with only one or two colors reduced in up of colors. That's the one part of the exercise. And then after that, spend another hour and go crazy find the most colors that you can cram into one picture and see what that does play with color. Have fun. Can I might, I make generalize here and say that, Ah, lot of what your exercises are about is thinking about what you're doing, being aware of what you're doing. And aware of what you're seeing is to train the eye to see in a front Because once you see then you can capture And make a picture of it. We are We have an assignment. We're still working on it. You think we'll have a review? Maybe next week or the week after. We're getting close one of those two weeks, OK, we'll see. We'll see how many things come on. So you got your color assignment. Go out and take some pictures. Oh, that one. Yeah, that's just paper. Simon. Don't play for fun. The color one. Take 22 different colors were then get as many as you can get his colorful You can't And then if you want to participate in our monthly assignment paper is the subject and the way you do that. Is take pictures. The whole point of this. All of it is just get out there and take some pictures this time illustrating the word. The idea the concept paper. If you find something you like once a week, you can upload your best. Gotta be new. Up to the flicker website. That's a free photo sharing site flicker dot com. I just renewed my pro membership for another two years. I just I really love flicker, but you could do it for free as well and then submit it to the tech guy Group. Make sure you put the tag TG paper. On there so that we know.

"Recover deleted files. That's a very big difference right. What you're looking for is a photo recovery coverage program that it's not that the files deleted the files damaged? You want something that will fix a damaged file well cried. Yeah now I'm not. How can I don't WanNa preach good okay because I don't want to be a preacher here but that's why you back up? It's very costly lesson. Learn I'm sorry to say all right. Well thank you so much. I'm sorry. Yeah there are you know so. There's some files that can be corrupted. That can be reconstructed. And maybe we've had this experience with your e Mail for instance. Suddenly emails all messed up. And there's a rebuild the database command and most email programs that's because the database ace's corrupted but the actual files the actual emails are still there so it can recreate that it. Just it's it's just. It's a complicated thing to do. And if for file were just like for instance if your word processor files were just a bunch of text. Well you know if you've lost the font style or or the paragraph information at least you'd get the text back right but the problem is a lot of word processor files aren't just the text Microsoft word. Heard for instance does some really weird things with the text and you can tell this there are programs out there and maybe this I don't know maybe this is worth a well. It's not gonNa work with the photography program but if you had a text file that were damaged and you wonder recover it. There are programs that call hex editors that let you are there other programs. That'll do let you just open the contents without making any substance at all about what it is as a photo. Is it a wordpress. We don't know we'll just show you. What date is on the disk? Sometimes Times that's useful and I've used heck senators to do this because you can see what the data is on the disk and certainly in a word processor you could see. The raw text is there and even even extracted by hand manually. But a photo is a little bit of a different beast. I'm sorry to say and honestly the formats that they put those in. I think you can't just rebuild the picture from b. m. p. files were like that unconfessed tiffs chiefs. Ti F- files might be might be recoverable that way but most tiffs are compressed Japex or heavily compressed and that compression means that you can't just say well here's a bit put that may that's the sky another bit another bit another bit now. Here comes the tree another another. It's not like that. It's it's it's junk. Basically basically junk sorry to say. Eighty eight eighty eight. Ask Leo speaking of photos. We're GONNA talk with our photo guy. Chris Markwort we've got a new assignment hot. He's gone onto the alphabet so we did last time we did Golden G. Now we're on H. He's looking for picture. An image that illustrates the word or concept hot hot and the way we work these. It's not a contest understand. There's no prize. It's just a a challenge to get out there and take pictures so you can upload as many as one week to our flicker group the Tech Guy Group on the flicker dot com site tag it with a Word T. G. hot and in about three weeks aches. We're GONNA take a look at the crystal pick three. I don't I don't play because you know I was embarrassed last few times I did. He picked my photo. And I don't know it should be your photo so Hot I'll I have some golden pictures but I didn't submit.

"You said you are normally we talk about politics and you wanted a break but it's hard to take a break from that so when you think about the resilience to go music and what it's been through in the city like washington dc next going through massive duplication right now you can see the resilience of the music itself the same resilience that's embodied in the dna of african people who wish boots chattel sleep hundreds and hundreds of years uh uh of degradation in at gipsy genocide so the music itself for me represents so much more than just the music up the cost of like i have this thing where where i say you know uh dc without go go with justise watch out they don't get dc without local is just watch for me it's still not heartbeat of the city it still with moods the city so what we're doing uh he's taking a global ban again to ghana west africa to show the roots now that resilience that i spoke about i think the really important for african americans specifically black people throughout the guy group in an agent of time five that we're in right now the weight this country is being run uh with who do all were racism and wife i believe that of to think that pretending american needs to do to connect with their ancestor it'd the amazing thing about the new at that time period that you talked about so those are the people listening why history buff who understand bc history i think they know fdc was never meant to be residential place where people to live and this meant to be the seat of the government but at the time when it was time for slavery in order to get into in there was just really to be slave people ventured service too many black people here just say okay we just have government workers in what we carried with us jazz blues is that you see sure dentist uh that eventually turned into the same way when you go down in new orleans you'll see that spirit that culture did a second line so we could geographical citizens we looked into because these specific area gogo peaked at palm drive this is the spirit of the people so for us uh these grew our company is an african cultural resource and what.
