"Wanna be a rebel follow. Jesus christ you'll be a real rebel today. You don't even need a leather jacket or motorcycle or your wallet attached to a chain. I don't know why bikers always do that. You know who's going to take up bikers wallet anyway but you know but that's real rebellion in the best sense of the word world changers our thermostats not the monitors a thermometer just tell you what the temperature is. A thermostat changes the temperature and in the same way. A world changer changes the world. Well the guy. I want to focus on. Everyone knows this story name was no we think of noah we immediately think of noah's ark and that's appropriate but there's a lot more to life than then is one of a number of people men and women that are mentioned in hebrews chapter eleven which has been described as the heroes hall of faith sort of the rock stars of the christian world of the bible culture that people that just stood out and lived as god wanted them to live there. Not in the hall of faith because they were perfect in fact they were far from it. They're they're primarily because they exercised fate. That's the word that keeps popping up again and again by faith. They did this by faith they did that. And it just reminds. Say you don't have to be a perfect person to be used by god. God is not looking for ability. He's looking for a bell. God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called. He's looking for some men. Some woman young or old to just right lord here i am. Send me to make a difference in my world. I wanna make a difference in my family. I wanna make a difference in my culture. I mean look at some of the people god used. For pete's sake. I mean there's some people that messed up pretty badly think. Of abraham abraham the father of faith that he had faith but he stumbled in his faith at least twice lying sarah. His wife laughed at the promises of god then. She denied that she laughed. Sems- he made it into the hall of faith. He was a woman chaser in a pretty immoral guy. Gideon struggled with fair and self doubt. Rahab the prostitute david had an affair and murder demanded. Cover it up elijah. The prophet struggled with depression and wanted to die. The samaritan woman had multiple divorces. The disciples fell asleep when jesus asked them to pray. Simon peter denied the lord. Three times timothy had an ulcer. Lazarus was dead. So what's your excuse. I mean seriously godkin. I use you and no other guy. We're going to focus on for the next two. Times is a man who got drunk and put himself in a compromising position but god gave him a second chance with. Here's what moa moa moa okay. That's a new character. Just invented bo. Was this brother his lesser known. Brother he just build a little row boat with a hole in it but no no built an ark right but no had great faith and a great got. I think he's a misunderstood character. Even caricature of course semen cartoons. Steve carell portrayed them for laughs and evan almighty then there was that film where russell crowe portrayed. No that was one of the weirdest films i've ever seen. I think he was channeling. Gladiator more than noah. Because there's a scene when he's getting ready to go and people are trying to get in and russell. Crowe noah is killing people so they don't enter the arc. That's actually not what happened in the bible the fact is the door to the arc. Remain open for a long time so anyone who wanted to come could come. Fact is nobody wanted to go in the arc. So there's all these distortions of the story and it's important to go back to what bible says. So hebrews eleven tells assists by faith noah being divinely warned if things not yet seen move godly fear and prepared an ark for the saving of household by what she condemn the world and became era of the righteousness which is according to fake so there are several principles in this passage. It help us to understand what made noah tick. Here's point number one if you're taking notes. God revealed secrets to know. God revealed secrets to know. he resigned. seven. He was divinely. Warned of things not yet seen see god spoke to him. This was activated. And i wonder if god has spoken to you lately you know. Sometimes he will say. I don't think god ever speaks to me. I remember hearing pastor. Chuck smith tell the story of his grandson. Who said do a small mom. God never speaks to me. She said honey. You know when you do something wrong and you feel bad in your heart for doing it. He says yeah she says i can be god speaking to you. Pause for a moment and then said mom's god speaks to me all the time. Yeah there's a lot of ways. God speaks to us but he does speak to us and the primary way he speaks to us is through the word of god but god revealed a secret to know the bible says the secret of the lord is that fair. Only grandkids are were smaller. I used to take them to secret places. I would say you know. We're going to do a restaurant. Do you want to go on the regular way. Like all the other people or do you want to go into secret. All get all excited the secret way papa and i just take him in through a side door but they thought it was secret. There was this park. That's not far from our house and so said we can go to the regular parco. We can go to this other park. I caught secret park. And that's what we went not secret anyone can find it but to this day we still call it. The secret park county is going to walk to the secret park but we like secrets right. So the secret of the lord is those that fear him gone reveals things to christians that people who are not believers don't understand as an example as a christian. I know that god's word is true you see the basic christian in many ways knows more than some of the great intellects of our world because we believe this book and we know because we believe this book that there are certain things that are true in certain things that are not to for instance we know man is not basically good man. That's a hard one to believe. Isn't it men's basically good really well. The bible doesn't teach man is basically could the bible teaches that man is basically sinful. Now that makes sense in the world makes more sense when i accept the premise. Basically we're basically sinful but the bible also teaches that god is good. The bible teaches that one day judge will come to the world. The bible teaches that. It's gonna get worse before it gets better. The bible teaches at one day. Christ will return and he will right every wrong. And jesus even said of the father father thank you that you've hidden these things and revealed them to your children so when you believe the bible you know things other people don't know. And noah understood that in. God revealed secrets to him pastor greg. Laurie we'll have the second half of his message. In just a moment we send passer great studies out via the radio. Email satellite and even our harvest at home online services and it's encouraging was here that these messages are impacting. Lives after greg. I have been a true believer for six decades. And we're thankful for our harvest partners. Who make them possible. Would you partner with us. You could make a donation dot org and you'll find pasture greg's harvest at home services at the same web address harvest dot. Org and now pastor. Greg continues his study called the world changer at the end of the world. part one. let's listen number to know ahead. A great reverence for god. He had a great reverence for god. I think that maybe this is lacking in our culture today. Have we become too casual with the lord. Have we taken him for granted. Possibly when it says he moved with godly. Fear does not mean that he cowered in fear before. God a better way to say that would be. He moved with reverence. We need to have reverence for god. And one definition of the fear of the lord that i like is a wholesome dread of displeasing him olsen threat. Not cowering in fear. That god's gonna smack me. But rather i love god so much and god is so holy. I have this respect for him. But maybe we've gone too far the other way. Jesus is my homeboy man. Hey of news. Last your homeboys so called created the universe. Have a little respect when you talk to him. Have a little respect when you worship. Kim have a little respect when you speak his name. I've gotten to know. Dr james dobson pretty well over the last few years and i've been with tim and a lot of situations and he'll say to me greg call jim and say okay. Dr dobson you know. Call me jim. And i don't feel comfortable calling him jim for some reason and i think it's because i respect him so i'll say well dr dobson. I going to be super casualty. Ductless and you know. So that i call him that out of respect and in so no ahead this reverence and respect for god any never lost that reverence for the lord and so he was a last days believer because he was living in the time before the flood king. Why did the flood come. Why did godsend judgment on the earth. The first time the answer is found in genesis. Six i want you to turn over there if you would genesis six. If you don't know where that is it's right after genesis five hang a hard left and go all the way and you will find genesis. Six first book of the bible genesis. Six five gives us a description of the world. The days of noah then the lord saw that the wicked man was great in the earth and that every antennas thoughts was only evil continually. You might underline that only evil continually and the lord was sorry he made ban on the earth and he was grieved in his heart. I'd underlying that to come back to it. So the lord said. I'll destroy men whom i've created from the face of the earth man and beast creeping and birds of the air. I'm sorry i made them stop there. What exactly what is going on here. In planet or to bring god's wrath so heavily genesis six five gives the answer. The lord's saw the wicked man was great in the earth. In every intent of the thought of his heart was only evil continually. I'm just amazed at the things i read in the news today. You know the news feed just the atrocities. The horrible acts that people do against people endless. And you know. I don't even have to illustrate this. It's just heartbreaking. it's disturbing and it just seems like people find new ways to do evil things and that's what was happening at this time but what this shows us is gone is aware of the wicked this man. He's paying attention and their wickedness is full of the brim would be a better translation. Sort of like an overflowing trash can or a septic tank. You know it's bad. It was stinking to high heaven. It was so bad you know. Ten testing the book of genesis can be divided into three sections generation. Degeneration re-generation generation degeneration re-generation. So i it was generation when god created all things and said it was good then degeneration. That's when sin entered into the garden when adam and eve ate of the forbidden fruit and regeneration were at phase to hear degeneration and god said he's grieved now. It's interesting that the word grieved is used here in verse six. You only green for those who love. You don't grieve when some random person cut you off on the road you get angry. Maybe upset but it doesn't you. It grieves you when your child is disrespectful or goes astray or someone you love or care about. Says her does something that hurts you your greed only by the people you love right so the fact that god uses the word grieve shows us that this is hurting the heart of god because he loves humanity. You remember jesus looked over the city of jerusalem and he wept over them because he knew they were effectively bringing judgement on themselves and we read in one thousand nine hundred forty one. He saw the city and wept said. Oh jerusalem if you had only known this your day the things that made for your let me ask you a question. Have you ever shed a tear for someone who is far.

"And turn to the book of judges. Chapter six judges chapter six and read our world changer series which is normally based in hebrews. Eleven and still is to the point but the character. We're going to look at today. The world changer. We're going to spend a little time with is only mentioned in a word in the great heroes hall of faith so we're going to deal with the text that tells a story in the title of my messages what to do when the odds are against you. That's an interesting message. Are the odds against anybody right now. Are you facing some challenges and difficulties and it's not looking good for you what to do when the odds are against you and now we're going to look at a man that had no potential that we can see whatsoever. Yet he became a bonafide world changer and his name is gideon and gideon well. It's kind of surprising. He made it into the hall of fame. This was not a perfect guy. He he had a week beginning and quite frankly he didn't have the best end either but he made it into this exclusive list of courageous men and women who put their faith into action. You know what i find interesting about. Hebrews eleven the hero solid faith or what i call world changers number mentioned since he tells us about their accomplishments done through faith but he never mentioned their flaws their shortcomings but other versus two. But this particular record. Those things are not mentioned so when we look at a guy like and this gives hope to people who are not extraordinary but more on the ordinary side. You weren't the best student. You weren't the class president. You weren't beautiful. You weren't the most handsome you were that person to when they were picking who was going to be on what team to play baseball. You're one of the last ones pick that anybody here. That was me. It was so sad. You know there are a bunch of people he will take depres. Dig up person and at the end it would be me in a three legged dog. Okay and they would still pick the dog over me then. Finally so would say all right fine. We'll take laurie laurie. You can be first base. I'm excited. I can play space. No we want you to be for space. We want to put our cleats. In u when we slide in so you know i know what it's like to be that guy but listen to this. God goes out of his way to find people like that. God goes out of his way to find ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Why so he gets the glory using. Because i said. There's no way i could have ever done that. My own and that is really the story here. People to change the world. And you know what gideon's ruled was messed up. Big time really. It was a horrible situation. Other people were morally upside down. And that's because they're spiritually upside down whenever there's a spiritual breakdown there's going to be a moral breakdown and there's going to be a cultural breakdown and the verse sort of explains everything is judges. Seventeen six it says. In those days israel had no king so the people did whatever seemed right in their own. Is that people. Did whatever seemed right on their own is let me do a paraphrase. Everybody just did their own thing. Sort of like well today where someone will say. Well you know what. I don't believe in your truth that church youth. I have my own truth and i'll do what i want to do. And i'll live by the dictates of my conscience. Because my god would never tell me to do doesn't so etc they just sort of make it up as they go so things were in chaos unlike the wild west and so the lord raised up judges judges to rule over israel. Thirteen in total twelve of them were men. One of them was a woman by the way when we think of judges don't think of supreme court judges running around and rose. These were more like law men of the old west. Think of wyatt urp showing up in town to try to bring some law and order so god raised up these judges who were in many cases warriors as well. So we're sort of picking this story up chronologically as we look at the world changers and joshua has passed from the scene. Remember god raised up moses to deliver israel out of egypt and lead them through the wilderness to the brink of the promised land. God raised joshua to take them into the promise. Land now joshua has died and this just reminds us that god is looking for world changers for every generation moses world changer for his day joshua was a world changer for his day and now we need a new one until so the lord is going to pick out this guy gideon and things were messed up. Because here's the problem. It was the year twelve fifty six bc. It had been two hundred years since israel marched on jericho and though they saw the walls fall by the power of god that great city things have changed because they did not finish the job. God told us to drive out the inhabitants of canaan the canaanites which included the emerites hittites yemenite. The jebusites the parasites all the sites. God said dr. Now in israel obeyed partially so now what has happened is these canaanites have come back to hunt them and ultimately rule over them in this happens to us as christians. Sometimes you know. We'll commit our life to christ and we'll say lord you can have the key to every door to every lock in my life except these two over here. Leave this closet alone. I i keep my skeletons in this closet here. And i don't want to mess with this other area of my life. Lord you can have everything but the by finances alone you can have everything but but leave my marriage alone early by singleness alone or leave my career alone. That's mind lord. No so if i don't let him be lord of all is lord at all and so they it allowed the canaanites to continue to grow and get stronger and now they're gonna come back to haunt them sort of like if you tried to cut down on old tree in your backyard. But she didn't approve it. Just cut it off and left the stump..

"Today tonight. In our succession here. And I'm going to call it my kingdom come. So. How about? Twelve says woe to him that bill at the town with blood and established a city by iniquity, and that's exactly what had been elected this. This session is not for kids. The session is pretty bloody. Gets the longest chapter in the book of judges it's also in many ways the most depressing. They say, no man's life is completely worthless why for anyone can serve as a horrible example? And I think we've got one on our hands tonight. We're going to see a giving a glimpse in advance. We're learn who big lessons tonight. The peril of ambition. And the principal. But you re you yourself. Both are GONNA be grammatically demonstrated here as we go. And I'll have the text on the on the screen, but I encourage you to follow bibles. Judges Chapter Nine, verse, one and Ben Affleck the son of giral. Now draw ball is an interesting guy. Gideon. But you'll notice in this chapter he's never called Gideon. He's always called level that just to get a little more background you know it's interesting when George Washington Army defeated British General Charles Cornwallis at Yorktown. The end of the revolutionary war began but didn't end with the problems. They had huge huge problems even after that decisive defeat of the British. Things are so bad economically that there were those that felt the only way the country would get its act together is to make George Washington King. and. He was popular enough to have that happen but he declined. And he rejected that plan. Is. Just the opposite here he had a passionate desire to be king. And that he allowed nothing to stand in his way. Even, the lives of hundreds of people. So we're going to discover there's really three stages in this chapter. Seizing the kingdom. And then. Follow through as we go. was. The son of Draw Bowler. Gideon by a concubine. Concubine was a slave that continually with their family. Through whom he had a son. And the family lived in and we're GONNA talk about chuck here in a minute. You can imagine he happened to have sixty nine brothers. Half brothers, and you can imagine how they treated the son of a concubine. His name means. My father is king. And how often it is. That we find the next generation. Is Not made of the stuff of that first generation. And that's what we're gonNA discover here he lived getting lived like a king but remember he refused To establish a dynasty in Israel. and. He made it clear that neither of them like any, any of his sons would rule over the people. Israel would not have a true king until Saul when Samuel gets the actual a little later. He's annoyed and I same old ten. Annoying. Case obviously felt his dad made a mistake and after father's death, he moved from Oprah to check him to start his campaign. Now, there's a strategic reason he went to check. By the way as he moves along here, he's going to break several of God's laws. Lashing ten ounces shalt not, covet. Is Obviously Company. Ambition can cause people to achieve things. There's a positive side to it, but if carried to excessive course can be a dangerous dangerous master. I will ascend into heaven turned an angel. Into the devil in Isaiah? Fourteen. Ember Nebbi is not this Babylon. Built was a declaration that made a king into an animal seven years. Dang for if we have exalted if we Exalt Ourselves, God has a way of bringing us down. Anyway. He went to check him to under his mother's brethren communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father saying speak, I, pray you in the North he speaking to the house. Of his mother's father these Canaanites. Don't confuse fact that Gideon was.

"And movies and specials Klaus with JK Simmons what is that has new movie that is on Netflix today JK Simmons this place Santa Claus Refugio cheated sportsman Joan Cusack a bunch of others are also in it and it's sort of a Santa Claus origin story but it's sweet and funny for the whole family reviewer liked it quite a bit so again if you're looking for a good family Christmas film you can double check that one out good I like to hear that we just had one of the stars of doll face on just we're just before your on Alex little Esther privet schoolmaster prevents kilo she's great what what what it what do you think a doll face it just it's a new whose series with kat Dennings and Esther what do you think yeah I was kind of iffy on it to be honest I it's not exactly my thing I'm I really love all the actors involved from Esther skeet you Brenda song Shay Mitchell kat Dennings stars in it so they're all great celebs a little on the news for me is this article realism shall after he girl was broken up with by a boyfriend she goes journey to reconnect with her friends but there's things like she feels like she's a cat lady thou so she gets on a bus bench triggered by a little cat lady that's the sort of show it is I've been a revered greater hobbled lunch beyond the first episode I only watch the first one and really dug a lot she got it had a lot of great stuff to say about people purchase tickets twenty years ago is on sale even even though I was not the biggest fan I think trust Caleb or on this one all right again that is doll face it breaks today on Hulu earthquake bird this is on Netflix it's a murdering minimum it's a murder mystery but not really what does that mean yeah it's sort of the somebody gets murdered right at the beginning it starts stars leisure candor you might know from to bring her among other things and Riley Keough he's been a bunch of things as well how does granddaughter right yeah yes it's good that doesn't play into the movie too much TV is where the money but it's it's a drama about the in Tokyo being friends one of them gets murdered right at the beginning of the movie and it flashes back it's yours you get to that point other viewer added that that I thought that was pretty good just in terms of the performances Keogh and the cats are both great in it but as a drama I it's a little iffy so again if you're just kind of looking to watch something on Netflix you can directly **** on some good solid performance as part of the one I was just gonna say at the urging of both of you I believe I watch modern love and I have to tell you it is just a enlightening that's what I'm gonna say it's really super good you can see part of yourself and your relationship and friends you know in their relationship in in a lot of the things you see Anna Hathaway did an amazing job portraying someone who is bi polar really really really great that's all I have to say so thank you to both you know yeah at any time in one of the nice things about anthology like that it's not quite good here right now is you're always quite something for everybody you know to identify with because each episode is are not connected to the other technically until the at but I haven't gotten to the end little bit as well Alex on his back very popular show and they're bringing in a live your Coleman one of the hottest actresses working today is the lead in the crown what can you tell us beyond that yeah well one of the big things to give everybody a heads up about this your thing for Netflix usually they'll release their new shows on Fridays that they've been experimenting with evidence here there all of the crown is actually dropping this Sunday November seventeenth on Netflix so it's not there today not there next Friday it's going to be there over the weekend but the big thing is they're jumping forward in time between nineteen sixty four nineteen seventy seven for this year's and that'll be a Coleman is taking over as Queen Elizabeth the second from clear for a there's a whole new cast playing all of the different parts I see you're gonna see Tobias Menzies here people might remember from Outlander among other things is taking over for batch lance's prince Philip and everybody that I've talked to receive it isn't it says wash as it has been before and speak to the British monarchy to be perfectly honest stop I DO everybody who has seen it here has thoroughly enjoyed it so if you like the crown it's more of the same even though it's a different cast hi this wasn't on our list of things to discuss with you but I just found out about this the other day I saw a commercial for it several months ago they did remakes of episodes of all in the family and the Jeffersons did very well in the ratings and was really fun to watch they recast it with new actors obviously now they're going to do a Christmas special where it with an all in the family episode and a Jefferson's episode are you up on this Alex did you already know this no I'm I didn't actually about this I knew that since the first one did so well that we are going to see a lot more of them going forward but I haven't actually heard about the Christmas that accepting that's great I don't remember and I could be wrong in this I was a huge fan of all in the family wanted to salute originally ran I don't remember there being a quote unquote Christmas episode so I'm curious to see which episode they do Jefferson's the same way I also don't know if it's gonna be the same cast is from last year when they did episodes but I thought it was a very interesting show to watch when they remade these episodes so I'm looking forward to it it's I think it's the week of Christmas I believe that they both err yeah I'm looking through some of the information now it's gonna be on December eighteenth and they haven't set the cast yet so it is unclear whether those folks from previous one will be coming back yet or not but I'm sure we'll hear something about action and then really really quickly I want to mention this I watched the spy which is the Sasha Baron cone show where he plays obviously a spy I told Wendy this sometimes it was difficult to separate him from bore at every once in awhile I'll be watching it very very difficult scene I go all know they're gonna hurt bore and I don't want that but overall he did a magnificent job and I thought the show was really interesting to watch transaction is actually a very good actor it's up to lead into a partnership because he does play these outrageous characters but it definitely work for something like this by either that your point it's very surprising ended similar I I have to say if you're a fan of homeland it's the same guy Gideon Raff who did the Israeli version of homeland it's it's got the same kind of flavors homeland where you're at we are constantly tense and nervous but then when it's all said and done you're glad you watched it yeah yeah and that's on Netflix now so you can double check that out and there's only six episodes which music binge Alex great to talk to we really appreciate it we'll check in with you a week from today all right.

Klaus JK Simmons Netflix Santa Claus Refugio Joan Cusack twenty years
