Con- up blah blah blah. It's the stuff. That leonard on the tony robbins podcast But you didn't start out being a business builder and entrepreneur. You start out with something that might in fact seemed like the polar opposite of the pat success. Which was your lover. Phil and you went to film school. How did your family feel about you tripping the light brand tacit rather get yourself a good steady job I think that you know my mom lived in constant and still does quite. Frankly live in a constant state of panic that i was going to do nothing with my life that i would Be unhappy in some way and so she worried but very quietly so when i was a kid she was very encouraging. Wanted me to go chase my dreams and so i didn't grow up with that like pressure from my parents or anything. They wanted to see me happy. I was very passionate about film making. They could see my excitement. They wanted to see me. Pursue it So they were very encouraging about that. My dad is. I got towards graduation. Film school he sent me starting at month. Six or five hundred member exactly my senior year. It was five more months four months three more months one month at two when he was not going to be helping me financial anymore so literally the day. I graduated I had no more assistance from my family so that was actually great so from that perspective. He didn't have too many concerns Because he just believed. I would somehow figure it out. So that long story but took me through my remedial jobs phase where you know barely making ends meet but i made some I made some what ended up being quite smart decisions around managed apartment complexes and things like that really cheap rent as why was while you were in films who know right after i graduated. Put again as about weirdness right like all you went to film school you went to film school. I assuming you want to make films and managing apartments. It's a weird mix. I mean we know people go into the arts often wait tables. You managed apartments. That must've been that entrepreneurial spirit in you as well even doing that film time. it's interesting. there really wasn't and i. I am by nature. I am the world's worst entrepreneur. I don't have any real entrepreneurial Instincts in me so even the apartment managing thing was was totally an accident. It was me capitalizing. An opportunity that presented itself and that i will say i've been good in my life about winning opportunity presents itself. I take that opportunity But if that one hadn't fallen in my lap than that it's terrifying to think what the outcome would have been. So when i went to film school i thought that i would. I was showing real promise zone school. And i thought that i had natural talent for it and that shows you my mindset. I was very focused on what what comes naturally to me and so i thought it maitlis gifted filmmaker and so the first half of them school. I did very very well. And then i got selected as one of the four people to direct senior thesis film. Which is a big deal and so when it happened was like oh my god. I'm like bud shows. I'm literally one of four people chosen to direct this film. And i'm gonna make this. It's going to be amazing. i'm gonna go out. I'm gonna get a three picture. Deal from hollywood off the back of how good this film is going to be. And and my life will be. That's literally what i was thinking. And i showed up on the first day of domain with virtually no preparation and to give i wrote the script like to the minute that it was due so a couple of hours before. I jot something down which only feeds ending it gets elected which only feeds into. I'm just naturally good at this. So i roll up onset completely unprepared and i fail miserably very publicly incredibly embarrassingly and then that shakes my whole world and makes me realized that i am. I am not a talented filmmaker like that was the hard realization that i had phase at that moment.

Report: Philadelphia Eagles are telling head coach candidates they want Carson Wentz back in 2021
"Eagles coaching search. Carson Wentz, how he relates that again for those who missed him. Might Gara follow with a report out today, saying that the Eagles are telling head coaching candidates people they're interviewing that they want to keep Carson ones they want to. Fixed Carson Wentz and that that is a big part of the coaching search. So how do you feel about that? Because Ellie now you're not to use like Are you surprised about it? That's the question. I think we've had so much talk of Will they attach themselves to Carson. Is this actually the route They're going to go? Some people have said Look, they're definitely not trading Carson. The money is too much. If they're telling head coaching, Candace, I think that one aspect you could look at it. Is this getting out because they want to make teams think they're not trading him. But presumably, I know I hate to play guess the source. But if Gary follow is saying they're telling candidates this It seems to be coming from the candidates or from someone who's interviewed, so they have no incentive to hype up the Carson Wentz trade. But you know, who knows? Maybe a candidate went thinking you'd have more of a say Heard that Carson was the guy and let people know like Whoa, They're really gonna do this. No, it Xan interesting situation, to say the least. And that when we saw it coming, I certainly I thought that after how it all went down, regardless what out with Doug? And of course, we all thought it was actually coming back when the season ended exchange quickly around here radio. But even in light of all that it just It felt like to me. There was just Too much too much baggage. It was too far gone the relationship that it would be better for everybody for Carson and physicals, toe move forward separately and change of scenery and all that type of stuff and Well, here's a question me that way. So obviously the Eagles have Carson under contract they control where he will play next year. But I've also said that and we see it no, of all the league's honestly if a player wants out, he finds his way out. I mean, it very rarely do teams make a player stay that does not want to be there, especially at such a critical position like quarterback. If the Eagles are committed to keeping Carson But Carson keeps up that he doesn't want to be here. Like what do they do? Do you forced Carson out? Do you keep him? I mean, I just It puts him in a tough situation because you know you don't your franchise guy to come in here, especially. He's already having locker room problems with the mindset of this guy got the coach. Fire doesn't want to be here and now he's leading the huddle like that's not an ideal situation to
Blake Shelton defends 'Minimum Wage' song
"On the phone. Right now is blake shelton it. We got new song out today We do and It's we kicked around actually releasing this song last last year at the end of the year december and and happy anywhere still kind of having its moment at country radio and we didn't want anything to get in the way of that record because that's been fun record to have and didn't want anything to interfere with what it what it may go on to do And so we backed out. And now we're releasing this all minimum wage. Which i've actually had recorded now for Maybe a year or something and and just you know everything. Kinda got thrown spun out last year. Obviously it did for everybody else and and So we're gonna come with a new album that this'll be the first single off of that album and we're pumped about it just because it's it's up campo it's fun and fully energy and and I definitely need some of that in my life and hopefully Everybody kind need some of that. If you put out a song and it does not go number one. Is that a disappointment to you Well that's been a disappoint not just at this point in my career. I mean if you're going to release a solid radio. I mean you're lying to everybody if you say it's not in the back of your mind that you hope it goes number one. I mean you otherwise. You wouldn't even release it to radio and go through the promotion process and you know all the things that you that you have to do to to be a part of that world. I mean you know. I mean you see. Every week somebody is trying to get their record number one and and You know for me. Not that i expect it to go number one but at the same time. I'm disappointed if it doesn't just because i know how hard everybody on the team works to get those things to the top you know and it just try to get done. Blake shelton on with us. What was the first job you had where you made minimum wage our roof houses in ada oklahoma and they may have been more than minimum wage. I think about. I think i got paid eight dollars an hour and i feel like way back then. Minimum wage might have been six dollars an hour or something closer to that. So man i. I stepped right into the big money. Roofing houses you know. I wrote houses to arkansas. But i didn't. I don't know if you started like i did. I had to be tear off. Guy i before i was actually the guy with the shingles is that. Was that your pat. I never worked up to shingle. In two years. I was a tear off and carry. I could carry by the end of the road. I can carry two bottles of shingles up at a time on on my shoulder which is like a hundred and twenty pounds. That was the only time in my life. I was ever in shape. Of course i was still a teenager. So i had that going for me. How do you feel about the return of the mullet. What do people say about yours back. In the day versus you know kind of the new generation of the mullet. Here's how about it. Because i'm a little jealous And that's been honest. i'm. I'm a little jealous that i don't have the mullet. But here's what i've found. Is you know you look at morgan. Wall he's a good looking guy and he's in shape and and when i've tried growing my mullet out this last last year during the quarantine time i realized for me. You can't be fat and have a mullet lock. You know what. I mean in order to get away with it. You have to have something else going for you and you know back in the day when i had one man. I was skinny. And that's not how it is anymore. And so i'm gonna have to. If i'm going to have the mullet. I gotta lose hundred fifty pounds. There's a lot that's a big number man pat is. I'm sorry bobby. Blake this whole controversy about minimum wage. When it finally gets to you that people are. I don't know whatever they are. Do you roll your eyes or do you go to this Well i've learned over the years not to just roll my eyes. You know until. I really get to the bottom of whatever. The particular controversy is that But when i saw this on was i i mean. I don't want him everything but it kind of a role of the is. Because i think if there's if you can find something offensive about this song i mean you're either you're just looking for fight or you're probably not a country music fan to begin with you know it's i. I really can't draw connection between anything controversial. And i love song. But you know it's It's the times we're in. i guess but we're just. We're proud of the song and and we love it. Which is weird. Because as soon as i heard about the controversy i came on and was just railing against these overly woke folks. It's what i was calling him. And then i started to get pushed back for standing up for the fact that it was a metaphor for life in that i was someone who grew up on minimum wage for most of my life. I wasn't. I was just so irritated in ronnie dunn fight. The standing up for two like why in the world is happening with folks. Think you just gotta go okay. Well that's your your take. We're we're going to keep going on with reality on this road and you can take whatever turn you want to Because it's at the end of the day it's a song about if you got love and then you didn't you've got the everything that matters you know And again if there's something offensive about that then i this is not the the world i wanna live in. Have any of your other songs sparked up debate. Like do people get upset about hillbilly bone. Because you know you know you know. Only you know only time that people get upset about that song when we perform it live and trace sexually points In the in the area makes it makes it big deal every time it gets to the chorus like. He's got a point to himself to be sure you understand exactly what he's talking about. I don't know. I don't know i don't know what to say. Oh i i thought he he points to a hillbilly and the crowd. Yeah that's right that's not me up. Blake shelton's got a couple more questions for you. I was talking to devon dawson recently. Who is one of the writers god's country and he told a story about how they they had sent playlist to you a few songs and god's country was one of the first ones on that playlist. Can you just kind of tell me your version of the story. But hearing god's country i was well. I don't think. I heard the other song that they spent because wanted god's country was the first song on that email or whatever i got and i stopped right there. I was on my There's a rumor going around that. I was on tractor But i was actually on skid steer different kind of equipment. But i had a both in that thing and i was i was mowing and doing some things and i figured out how to our. He's not think. I even tried to open the email to see if i could learn how to use my bluetooth and and And i turned it on. And then i was. I was shocked. I was blown away. I couldn't even believe what. I was hearing. 'cause i knew that it was it was a it was game changer. It was that lacombe. Nothing would be the same for any of us involved after this song is far from a career standpoint and and what it was going to to do you know and in my mind anyway because every time you record song you say oh my god this could do this or that And this one seemed like it would just almost Start a new chapter for me. And it did to be honest It's one of the few times that actually had a vision and trick that the my last question for you if twenty eight number ones now twenty eight like once concerts return. You're at the point now where you could do. Two nights in a city playing pretty much all number ones and other massive songs didn't quite number one is that something that you'd want to do is do two nights and a city making sure you get all the hits in what i wanna play in front of a of a full crowd and two nights probably will be one night too many from i guess i guess if people would promise they would come back in the second half then. Yeah that would be a blast. I used to always think that about george strait. I always thought it'd be cool if he did like a marathon like a four or five hour concert just all these number one hits and it was on. Hbo or or something like that. Yeah that's my big idea for george. Anyway he needs it. I think he's he's in the business for some career advice so i'm gonna hit him up. Tell him he loves it. He loves to work. I'll tell you
Retired Chicago firefighter speaks out after being falsely accused in Washington, DC attack
"Fans and tags in the interest of truth and public safety. That's what Hard gnome, Jack Dorsey says, right? Well, I'll tell you what I know. One retired Chicago firefighter who isn't too impressed. Have you seen this story that relates to trying to identify the person who may be responsible for killing that Capitol Hill police officer with a Fire extinguisher. Well, they got a picture of the suspected guy, and he had a C F. D. Ski hat on So this was put out Twitter with one person tweeting. Here's the picture Twitter. Do your thing. And Twitter did its thing. And the identify the wrong guy. And they dispatched the blue Check Mafia and all of the Their acolytes, too. Harassed this guy who turns out to be a retired Chicago firefighter. Not a Chester, Pennsylvania firefighter. Chester Fire Department, not Chicago Fire Department. The guy passes the firefighter in Chicago, the retired one Was wrongly targeted bears a passing resemblance to him, and here's what happened. Uh, He was well, first of all the retired Chicago firefighter just to establish his alibi for You know those Twitter mafiosos. I know they're so Evidence driven on January 6. He was grocery shopping and celebrating his wife's birthday in Chicago. He lives a real life, so he's not on social media. He didn't even know he had been identified as the alleged killer. He Uh, I only realized that something was up when he got phone calls saying that your An effing murderer. Who belongs in jail, and then TV news reporters were staking out his house. Chicago police had a dispatch a patrol car to keep watch on him overnight. The story has left up my life, said the Chicago firefighter. David Quintavalle is I feel the need to just report on this? Not toe on Lee ex exposed the hypocrisy. And thuggery of Jack Dorsey and the Blue Check Mafia but also so that there's a much an Evan effort made to make sure people know that this guy was wrongly identified and so should be left alone as there was two Wrong, wrongly identify him and mess with his life
Urban Meyer to keep health in mind as new Jacksonville Jaguars coach
"A jacksonville is the best job opening in the nfl. right now. they've got eleven total picks in the upcoming grab first round picks one hundred million dollars in salary cap space. They have the number one pick so all unless unless someone is as a complete and utter fool. that are going to be Drafting trevor lawrence. Whether number one. Pick and trevor lawrence. It's supposed to be a generational great. Come on man come on tomorrow to mark. Among on if sean con come on man is about time you get serious if you can go ahead and get yourself but yourself in the position where hey you know what. We've got a really good thing going here. In terms of the future we covered that bear. And we've got all of this to work with you know. How many times would love to be in that position. Already mentioned the fact in the nba raphael stone in general managers. In general in that league you ask them what would you rather have in terms of rebuilding program. All of these guys who say man. I'm a multiple picks a lot of salary cap space to go ahead and do my thing. Would you get that injectable even with a hard salary cap now. Jacksonville isn't the same as far as free agent destination as a los angeles or the bigger markets. But still you're talking about. The state of florida was no income state tax. You're speaking about ill a situation where you're gonna be working with a generational great quarterback possibly. Hopefully i mean there's a lot of things you have a really really good young talent on that team that a lot because the team one and fifteen but there's there's some ambers within the within the the fire that you can That you can work with. I mean it should be very attractive job for a gm but if a gm any worth of any you know any worth is going to go in there and you're going to be talking about. Yeah i'm going to be in charge of the roster. I mean come on man you know the next bill polian next ron. Woolfe is not going to be like yes. That's pretty good and then since you already hired the couch you gotta make sure that the coach in the general manager president of football operations are together as one as far the philosophy is concerned. And we don't know where myers philosophy because well. He's never coached. He's never coached in the nfl so he might have a philosophy all this kind of stuff. What is it based off of. It can be based on what he did in college because college in the nfl completely different animals. Yeah you might have a philosophy of how you deal with people in college. What when you're dealing with people in college. They're eighteen to twenty two years old when you're going to be different of course and you know this coming central tell you. It's a lot of different dealing with grown men who have mortgages who are building their brands. Who have kids who have other responsibilities lot different way. You work with them. Sure in a college situation. You are of the defacto you are. You are the maker you are the guy you are the when i say jump you answer. How high when i say run through brick wall put your head down and go through that brick wall inc a college. You can get away with that stuff in the. Nfl is not. You're not coach. Employees i mean. This isn't supervisor employees working together. This is a collective understanding in terms of where we're going so yeah you wouldn't have any philosophy and you can have. You can try to find players that are into fit that philosophy but how rigid is that philosophy going to be. If you're urban meyer in college will you can go ahead and you can recruit anybody who you want to. You can text. You can call and you can do all these things and you can go ahead and develop a relationship over the years so you can even have a better understanding it. This young man is going to be able to fit the philosophy that you have in college. You can do that shit and the nfl you can't and the nfl is a business. And if you speaking about philosophy you better think about the philosophy. A win. Because i used to do all that bullshit about. Yeah you know. I bring these young men into the league. And you know these guys are young and some of these come from underprivileged backgrounds and these guys never have a checking account before. These guys don't know how to do this and these guys don't know how to do that so for me as a coach especially being a black coach with these kids coming into the nfl coming in basically as kids even though there are twenty one twenty two years old. I feel it's a responsibility for me to show them the ways of live and the show them how to do things the have them grow and mature of by the time that they retire that they'll be able to have a foundation for them to be successful one. Football is over

Paper says about sixty seconds after the vice president was rushed off the senate floor. His chair later occupied by a rioter. The gang charged up the stairs chasing after that capitol police officer eugene goodman who drew them away from where pence was hiding. The drama of course was all captured on video cold. We're also now hearing the stories of some of the other officers who battled the mob including dc metro police officer michael phenomenon. Known and other officers were dragged into the crowd of rioters while trying to defend the west front of our capital. He says they were beaten with metal. Like i was thinking all right. You know how to survive this situation. I thought no. I can shoot them. They're trying to kill me. And i'm just fine but if i did that i would provide them with the justification that they needed to kill me. Because i can't get to know all so then. I started thinking you know maybe i can appeal to somebody humanity and i started like yelling that i have kids and i think fortunately there were some people in the crowd that recognized that i was a police officer and that you know i don't know killing me was not the right thing to do. And so at that point people started to kind of encircle me and offer me some degree protection. How do i feel about the people that were there. Well the people they helped me. Thank you for being there.

Capitol Police report warned that Congress could be targeted three days before riot
"Tonight. An internal Capitol Police Intelligence report issued three days before the assault on the U. S. Capitol, warned that there could be an attack last Wednesday on Congress itself, The Washington Post reports. The 12 page memo detailed how President Trump's supporters saw that day as the last chance to try to overturn the election results, adding quote, This sense of desperation and disappointment may lead to more of an incentive to become violent. Unlike Obvious post election protests. The targets of the pro trump supporters are not necessarily the counter. Protesters says they were previously but rather, Congress itself is the target on the sixth. Two people familiar with that memo, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the memo was shared to all Capitol Police Command Staff. Washington Post Political investigative reporter Carol Lin Egg is the journalist who broke the story son who was the Capitol police chief until resigning in the wake of the security failures and the siege. He got this Intel report and he's declined to discuss the details of it with me. But I know from other sources that he got this report on the third and that's what made him go to the sergeant at arms in the Senate and the House, his bosses and say, Look, guys, I think I need emergency activation of the National Guard. They turned him down and said that they didn't like the idea of that. They didn't like the optics of the military looming over the capital. They didn't think their leadership their bosses, the Speaker Pelosi or Mitch McConnell, the Senate leader would agree. So they said No no comment tonight on the memo from a Capitol police spokeswoman.

Urban Meyer returns to coaching with Jacksonville Jaguars
"Smart there. Don't tip your hand. Their urban meyer. Even though everybody knows it's going to be trevor lawrence. It's the number one overall. Pick going to jacksonville. Here's the thing. Marcus what did you think of some of the things that urban had to stay today especially about adapting. Yeah that's the only thing that mattered to meals Obviously we talked about urban. Meyer never being. Nfl head coach. But how fast you get the respect of these rome in. How fast can you let them know that we all pulling in the same direction but you also want them to have their individual success. I think coaches missed that in the nfl sometimes like those things can be cohesive. They can work together. You can have teen success but also coaches. That's coming into the league. These acknowledge that a lot of these guys want to have individual success because not only does it further your career in the. Nfl helps your family off the field. You get paid when you ball and then when you set up for success so adaptability was amazing for me and then to. I'm not going to get caught up in this whole quarterback who they gonna take i. There's a dark room somewhere in jacksonville where there's a huddle of about thirty to forty people already. Printing a damn treble lowers all is to or submitted so they could put up on the website and sell out in five minutes. That's all that the jacksonville jaguars go sale jerseys like own a serious though. Y'all trouble or is being drafted number one overall. Obviously he checks the boxes with skill level and talent but there is a city ride known. This there is sweets that that need to be sole jerseys. That need to be sold and a shock of excitement around this organization franchise. I don't think anybody can do it. Like trouble lawrenceville.

FBI has arrested more than 100 people over Capitol siege in Washington, DC
"Jeff to Gaze has more on the sweep that has followed last week's attack of the U. S. Capitol. The FBI is so far arrested more than 100. Rioters from last week's deadly assault and identified over 200 suspects. That entire building is filled with treason. Straight. Yes, sir. Death is the only remedy for what's in that building. Including Peter Steger, charged with civil disorder for beating a Capitol police officer with a flagpole as he was dragged down the Capitol steps that D C police officer Mike for known he's self deployed to the sea. He spoke with our affiliate in Washington. W Yusa. Guys were like grabbing gear off my vest. I remember guys chanting like killing with his own gun in another area of the riot. Investigators say. Robert Sanford, a retired Pennsylvania firefighter, threw what appeared to be a fire extinguisher that hit three officers in the head. He was also a resident on Thursday. So was Kevin Seefried, who was carrying a Confederate flag through the capital. With
Reduce No-shows, Fill the Schedule, and Improve Patient Experience with Michele Perry
"Back to the outcomes rockets. All marquez here. Today i have the privilege of having michelle. Perry on the podcast. She is. The ceo of relations has sast based patient centered. Engagement company that utilizes a modern and mobile first approach to improve patient and provider communication. Michelle perry has almost thirty years of experience in software and health technology an undergraduate degree from the wharton school at the university of pennsylvania and her nda from harvard business school. Just the the important topic around how we communicate patients effectively. And how do we do that at scale. It's going to be a great talk and michelle super excited to have you join us today. Thanks for having me excited to be here absolutely and and so before we dive into the awesome way. You guys engage patients at relations. Talk to us a little bit more about you. Michelle wu spires your work and healthcare the patient. You know really. This truly has to be about the patience to have been easier way to access healthcare This pandemic has shed light on. The fact that truth helped get a truly is about the patients. And that's why you know. I joined a company named relation relating to the patient and focusing on the patient. How do we make it easier for the patient because anything related to health care is high and so why don't we make it easy. Yeah and i think the nature of kind of how healthcare works and fortunately that it's complex And the need for that expertise of simplifying and getting a message to the right person at the right time is critical so michelle talked to us about how relations is adding value to the healthcare ecosystem. Exactly what you just said you still my words saw. It's all about getting the right Right message to the right person at the right time. And you know the industry's been a little too focused on patient portals and just dumping information they're figuring out the patient would find the information and it's just not working you know we need to make it easier both for the practices and health systems to make it easy for their patients to access healthcare. And we need to do it in a way. That patients are use to communicate. Say and we all carry this phone You know there are a few people in the country maybe not for the most part people have a phone kind. You know in their pants pocket or in the hand of something all day. So how can we make it very easy using that mobile device to get them just that right information and not a data dump just the right information at the right time. Yeah and so there's a flow you know. There's there's a step by step process that kind of we go through when we get care. There's a scheduling. There's there's actually going to see the clinician where you wait. I guess there's a lot of waiting and cars now with with the pandemic reminders etc. So there's a lot of touch points that potentially league we could miss and so talked a little bit about what you feel makes relations special and different than what's there today. Yeah so you know. Unfortunately healthcare has so many rules and regulations Starting with that introducing some of this technology to be patient facing can be really non thing and then you add all all the communications laws which tcp a of the can spam and. This really seems way too. Risky move forward and health care. So that's where many practice of just put it in puerto new best enough but the adoption and usage of portals. It's just really low. So what we focused on is making it just easy to get the critical information at that point in time. Whether it's about an appointment to make sure that you know it and confirm it and we have best practices where we combine own email and chat messages over the course of five three one day to get the best response rate and to get people if they can't make it you know to cancel reschedule and get them back on the calendar that you can get waitlist filled spots that they laughed and moving all of that so really combining all these with one platform that can make this really productive for the practice which would make it productive for the practice can make it easy for their patients totally.
Understanding the Virus with Dr. Howard Fullman
"So i are host the quadruple board. Certified doctor of internal medicine. Pulmonary disease critical care in neuro critical. Care my very good friend. Dr steven day back. How are you steve doing. Okay deceive. oh we have one of our favorite experts returning to us today Howard j fomin. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and howard served a multi decade tenure at kaiser permanent day as partner ford member president of the executive committee chief of staff and chair of the quality committee. He has supervised over forty three hundred staff and over five hundred doctors. Howard is now seen your operating advisor at atlantic street capital for their medically focused investments. Dr howard foreman nice to have you back thanks to be here high stated it good to see hey steve. What's it like in the icu. With the kobe patients has it gone. It's been very rough at my hospital. The surges hit us really hard. We actually we had a mini surge. Back in may when everybody else seemed to be really struggling at this time it has hit us really hard we have about one hundred and fifty plus cove patients in our hospital and i bought twenty percent of those are in the intensive care unit and those that intensive care unit. They are all on high flow oxygen or intimated. So they're all very very sick. And howard what. Are you hear about kaiser. How are they holding up in all this. I just very proud of everybody. Credible courage by the patients and their families what they're going through doctors nurses respiratory therapist all staff level of dedication i think of the healthcare professionals are just miraculous people. Tired in was there the other day doing data the procedures. And just in what. I do which is way less difficult than being in the icu. For twelve hour shifts just wearing in the ninety five masks in a shield and all the p p being more cautious than ever and trying to make sure that the patients can get in and out so that they're not in the medical center. One minute more than is necessary. Cetera et cetera. Just makes the practice of medicine which is already something that's very challenging even more challenging but my heart goes out to the patients and that that's just a culprit patients Anyone who needs services. The hospital is having more difficult time than usual inside easy being a patient thunder normal circumstances that along under these circumstances. i'm sure they're all kinds of treatments. That have changed since our last conversation. I mean the remdesivir steroids in a number of other treatments that you guys have raised a bad situation. What's working the best these days. Dr steve in actually the one medication that really has shown to decrease mortality everything that we have is decadent on an age old medication. A steroid that's used to decrease swelling decrease inflammation in the body thus far as the only medication that we're using that actually has been proven to diminish with a twenty eight day mortality. We do give them de severe because there has been shown that there's been some benefit in terms of shortening the course of the disease and so it's still part of our protocol and so everybody who's coming in is getting a coverage for we call community acquired pneumonia in case they have bacteria on top of covid. So they're getting the usual medications for that which is usually as for miocene in something called stuff triax zone but the standard therapy provided you have good kidney function that you're not to overwhelmingly sick is the decca drawn remdesivir but it is the decca drawn. That by far has been shown to be very effective. I do believe for those people who are not terribly ill that are just starting to show signs and symptoms of covid that have various co morbidity is considerably overweight have diabetes a monoclonal antibody that has given an infusion. I believe has also been a game changer. Although i've not seen formal data in that way but those are the big three medications that we give. I mean you've got to look at what's going on here in the us and it's gotta frustrate both of you. Knowing how many people are breaking the advice may be needle one column rules because somehow those of us in the us don't like those things called rules. Frankly i've seen a bunch of parties. Go on in my town. There have been a bunch of weekend weddings and dancing. And what have you and it's almost like. What are you supposed to do as a healthcare organization to get the message across. I can't imagine. What would happen. To dr steve here if there was a surge on top of this surge. That's an important point in all of us in healthcare professions of. I wanna start again by saying lots. Lots of people doing their level. Best imply vincent. I feel really badly for people who don't have a luxury to be at home. That essential workers people who were living in very congested areas. Tranquil did very best. They can difficult circumstances. So that's important to make sure we now. The hard work difficult circumstances lots of people living under now everybody's violating these guidelines but there are people who are either inadvertently or something some cases intentionally violence
Washington DC officer seen crushed in doorway speaks out
"We're hearing from the police officer who was nearly crushed to death in a doorway is rioter stormed the U. S Capitol last week. Disturbing video has been shared around the world. And tonight he's one of three police officers speaking about confronting the violent mob. Sam Ford from our Washington D. C sister station has a story. We've seen the images now. Acting D C. Police chief Robert Conte let three MPD officers who were there talk. That was the one that was crushed in the door, but they have a heroic story. It's the tunnel through which a president walks out for the inaugural ceremony. But January 6th these three officers were there in the crush, fighting to keep out of that capital entrance. Rioters who police that had bear Mace It's not only painful, but you literally can't open your eyes and when you can open your eyes and you're in the middle of what way would call a fight? The struggle was sometimes in the cops favor. Sometimes in the rioters. I guess I got pin through the small back and forth we had fighting for, you know every inch Fourth District Officer, Hodges was trapped in the back and forth thought, you know this might be it. I might die and there's nothing I can do to defend myself at this point, so I just started screaming my lungs for the under. Give me a way out. Get me a ladder retreat, he said a rider beating with his own baton before other officers freed him, and when police managed to push riders out, officer Michael for known, said they yanked him out with him beating him tasing him because guys were like crabbing here off my vest, and they ripped my badge from me and people were trying to grab my gun. I remember guys chanting like killing with his own gun. Um, I thought about killing people, the Blue High grad said. Instead, he told the writers he had kids. Some shielded him until his partner, officer Jimmy Albright, at the top of this picture, got him back in the tunnel. He suffered a mild heart attack hospitalized two days. The other officers were not hospitalized. Really stunning. The officers say that they were stunned that many of those writers believe the police were supposed to be helping them break into the capital. The FBI has
Facebook, Twitter, and Trump
"Hi james ben. How are you not great. To be honest. i was gonna say happy new year. I personally have doing very well. This is a this. Is the story of the past forever. I personally doing quite well having a great day You know woke up at a good night's sleep got a lot of work done. This morning am feeling good about as far as energy speaking as far as writing this afternoon just the actual what. I'm going to write the the the circumstances of the world and we right. It is not great at feels like a recurring theme sitting from your perch in taiwan over the past twelve months. Let's not talk about that. No one wants to hear about that. Okay fair enough. So we are emergency podcasting. Although we're doom or one. I think we missed a in the context of it's weird because i think there's been a desire to at least on my part to avoid her probably in part because the reason you don't wanna be hyperbolic and your statements or overstate. Anything is because then when the time truly comes when it's appropriate but hyperbolic then. You've wasted it right. You've wasted sort of the impact. And i think that the idea though of saving hyperbole in saving sort of grants statements is for days like today like where bad things are happening. That are big problem. And i think that I'd love to talk to you. Not just about what's going on but also what i what i think i'm gonna write today and get your take on that yeah i i sympathize with a hyperbole. I actually me of of a conversation. We had previously when you alike bay specific around your words when talking about facebook and like make money selling us a data and it's like that lesson stuck with me and i think it's right because when it does come time to actually get specific and like you said get hyperbolic public hyperbolic hyperbolic knots. Anything you've got you've held it in reserve for when you need it. But yeah i'd love to have a conversation like that. Let's do it so for those listening. This podcast will probably come out on friday morning. Us time we are recording on wednesday night. Us time i am about to write What i'm going to post on thursday morning. Us time so you're going to read what i right before you listen to this but we are knocking before i write it. So this is sort of the timeline here and it was funny because you actually ping me and i was in the middle of a call. I was thinking. I need a pig. You it like just to just to talk this through. And i think the way we're referring to obviously what's happening in the us. Capitol where rioters mob stormed the us capital and were basically egged on by the president of the united states. Who was seeking to overturn th results of the election. That he lost. I wanna go back actually. To is interesting we talk about the this sort of language hyperbole and whatnot and i wanna go back to twenty sixteen because win this was in december of two thousand sixteen and donald trump had just been elected president news president elect and as president-elect do he was holding transition meetings naming cabinet members etc and sort of to our point. There is a lot of people that were you know for again for for reasons that can understand. We're we're flipping out about this and you do remember what there was going to be that big roundtable with like tech leaders and there was a lot a lot of talk in chatter that all these tech leaders should refuse to go to this meeting and i can definitely imagine folks who were arguing at the time that those tech leaders refused gotomeeting saying pointing to what happened today. And see. that's why you should refuse to that meeting at the time. Said they should. And i stand by that. I think i love to talk through that. I think it helps give context to where my head is today. I wanna see if that makes sense to you if it makes sense to you within. Hopefully it'll make sense to my readers. Our listeners yeah. I think that makes sense My initial reaction is it does make sense to me like i mean. This is almost been a recurring theme over the past four years in that. It's an imposition of people's one person has a point of view. And they want to impose that on the world and and they want to impose it on social media companies and twitter or facebook. They should just be censoring the president. And and your point has bain hang on. This guy got elected president and especially back at the start. Two thousand sixteen. This guy's got elected president. Now it's one thing to introduce a cost or to react to something he did. That's undemocratic but at that point just outright refusing to do it doesn't strike me as as a reasonable thing to do in a democracy. That's exactly right. There's a there's a phrase that i use that is widely used this original to me but is this idea that elections have consequences and the reality is is that trump won in two thousand sixteen. He didn't and given that he won for a private tech company. Leader to sort of unilaterally. Say no. i'm not gonna go meet with the president of the united states. Who according to the law and according to the rules won the election of the country that has all the rules and the the groundwork and the foundation that makes my entire business possible and makes it possible for me to ruins a providence. To me is a big problem. It is a wrong way to think about the issue.

Always. AM curious about how you pick these. It looks like you were searching for colors and the word color may be yeah, I was looking for color I was looking for support for whereas like subdued caller for strong color for monochromatic for all the opening match all the terms used in the last ten minutes here is the is the Tokyo Cube is that it it looks a little bluish it looks like it's almost monochrome, but maybe it was just a a grey day. Could be that it could be that the photographer just in post production pulled a bit on the sliders and. and. made it a more monochrome than it was like it. Really. That's okay. That's permissible. "The one way you can communicate. Fire Ham radio and amateur radio operators really step up when those you guys trained for this all year long I know. That's why we're treating this as a chain exercise. Even. Though there's nothing going on we don't expect anything This provides training good on you. That's great. So what can I do for you today? We'll I have been thinking about this for quite some time, and lately there's been quite a bit of publicity about flaws in consumer grade routers that are unattached and the one that I had been using for several years. They haven't updated the front where data for about three years. So I decided to build my own something more capabilities. So, what I'm to do is I've got many PC with four Internet ports and I had a switch and couple actually three ubiquity access points for life I and I'm going to build my own router. I'm thinking at this point of pf sense but perhaps something along open sense or one of the other firewall operating systems longtime Lennox Guy. So the Knicks don't bother me I'm just to not familiar with this aspect of it and I. Know. You have talked about in the past about your house, how you have set up multiple submits for Iot, and that's one of the things that I wanted to do. So two questions actually is, do you have a preference on what operating system is the best one to use and second? How would you configure the land? Considering the fact we've got four ports one for the wide area network one for the main one iota one. So the guest network. This. Is something I've wanted to do for some time you probably listen to you should listen to our security now podcast with Steve Gibson because he talks about this a lot. He's really great on this subject. He runs PF since likes it. In fact, he does it's too not too late but you've got another route he instead of using an old PC lying around I'm sure he has a few of those actually has a little appliance that he buys. From a company called net gate the S G eleven hundred that runs PF sense. So it's a, it's a little you know arm processor almost an IOT device, but it's got all the features that you need to run pf since he likes PF since a lot it's open source I don't have any strong opinion about other versions of PS sense. But I, think PF senses is kind of the way to go as for segmenting your you know your land. you can. I'm sure do that very easily with upsets you may have to put extra Ethernet cards in that box so that you can have them have different Ethernet. connectors but I don't think that's going to be a problem at all I know Steve Does that with PS. So that's that's going to be a simple thing to do. It's actually a really good idea because you'll keep it up to date and pf since is much more. I. Think Much More Secure and certainly much more powerful solution for doing your own routing I've been meaning to do this exact thing. In fact, I wanted to get the gate little net gate box, but as many of US geeks. have. PC's lying around that. We could use for this kind of thing I guess you could even probably use a raspberry pi or something like that. But you've got something more powerful, which means you get more throughput that way..

"Epson dot com slash could Leah now back to the show. Leo LaPorte the Tech Guy. Eighty, eight eighty eight ask Leo. That's the phone number. We're doing a photo silent. We do every month with Chris Markwort. It's not a contest. It's there's no prize. It's just really a chance. to go out and take pictures kind of encourage you to take pictures each month. We have a topic. He's going through the alphabet. We've gotten to the letter N. Now Chris likes to pick kind of. Open ended assignments, and this was pretty open ended end stands for normal normal I. Don't know what that means to you. Asher it's different definition for everybody. That's the beauty of it, so go out. Take. A picture doesn't have to be with a fancy camera could be with your camera phone. But illustrating the concept the idea of the word, what normal means to you. Tag It with the well, I uploaded flicker. Okay, and then flickering. When you upload a photo you can, you can add a tag to it and this case tag it. "I'm still looking for a solution to to make obese into a virtual webcam on the MAC. There's no plug in for that. There's a there's a virtual there's a plug in to be virtual windows and on the Mac. I think it's like a very complicated three steps thing that you have to run several things. I've been all over the search engines for that has been using a program from e. Cam that works beautifully. gives you a song. It's called E. Cam live software switching. It's really nice and there's a free trial take a look at that and it does show up as your as your Webcam. I know I know but does it. Does it integrate with the Stream take for example Dick? I'm trying to move Some workshops into an online form. You're using this as yes yes. That's exactly the thing I'm looking at right now. So that is just that integrates so nicely into obvious and then you can but only the only does the live streaming thing and the recording thing but not the virtual Webcam thing which so I'm using The black magic mini which is just phenomenal and that is a visual Webcam. That shows up as a Webcam and that does all of that in more I it's funny because you know we're way ahead of the game because we've been playing with this for years so we we've got the setups to do it so with the mini and a couple of Hdmi live HDMI out cameras. I can do a whole studio. That's got four. Hdmi's in one of them could be fairly new isn't a jazz brand new. They just announced many pro which has built in streaming so you can that has a streamer in it. You don't have to use the software for the streaming But that is a really great solution. It's basically like your stream deck except it's it's it's litter. It's time to be a video switcher. It's the real hardware switcher. Yeah Yeah I think the mini- is fast but it's going to be hard to get maybe not backward. Mbh when I ordered it but So took me a month or two to get it. That's a key for three hundred bucks. That's a great choice. That's the that's how much it is. Yeah it has type-c out that shows up as the Webcam on your computer so all of that switching and then it has. It has software that uses the term software. So you have a lot more capability in the computer that you can assign to it than just twenty six which is but it has picture in picture four hundred years here but that includes tax. Now it's an important taxes and so bad really a nice solution. I've been very happy with us. Looks good if you WanNa do streaming the problem with the mini pro. That's three hundred bucks more. So at seven hundred seventy year. Yeah it's expensive and that will be back ordered. Probably we black magic stream last week where they announced it was really really interesting. I love with the eight. You Probably Watch that stream and you can see what they can do. It's really amazing. It is back ordered. But it's Yeah that's definitely a potential solution yet. Basically gives you all this capabilities street. I'M GONNA BRING THIS DREAM DOT com because it's more complicated because I have to integrate one remote participants host as long as that. You need to then you need to put him on a computer with HDMI out show. He's an input but he's remote as in really remote. Nobody's saying if he's skype or does he skype. What does he used to get to We we have different ways to do that. So whatever issues you put him on a laptop with h out and now he goes in the Swisher and his audio and Video Camera. One camera two. That's okay I misunderstood. You now makes perfect sense. Yeah totally do. The only limit is for for H. Ports if not. It's plenty but I think it's plenty for ninety percent of people. Do Thank you Chris. All right thank you until next week take care. I suddenly realized. Thank you Chris for spending some time on that On some zoom tips. I realized we could probably spend a whole show or to giving you tips on participating in video conferences and having better video from your house. It's something Chris has been doing for years because he does video podcasts. From his home I normally come into studio to podcasts. We have a very nice video studio but I have all the tools and it's not. They're not expensive to do it at home product that I use that I really like comes from Black Magic. Black magic design. They call it. They have a line of video switchers called the ATM and they recently came out with the eight ten mini which is a three hundred dollar hardware. Switcher lets you have up to four. Hdmi inputs to audio inputs. And then it it itself outputs as a Webcam so you plug it in to your computer. The computer says Oh. That's a Webcam. And now you can do all the switching so you could have multiple people in your house or you could have people on skype. Come in you really can do. Quite a bit of video production and has transitions. It has green screen has a lot of the features. You know big television studios have honestly when I when I watch So funny to see you know all the network television now being done from people's houses you know somebody was saying If you watch I don't know if you watch live with Kelly which is a great show. I used to be on a regular basis as their Tech Guy. Way Back Way back when when it was with. Kellyanne reaches but now it's Kelly and You know the other Guy Ryan seacrest and apparently Ryan's doing it from his kitchen. I haven't seen it yet. And he's got his laptop propped up on books like the rest of us. Don't you think? Abc could go over at his house and set them up. You know. Just give them a camera. Maybe I really do wonder when I see some of these network productions and they're making mistakes. We used to make fifteen years ago when we first started podcasting. Well I guess they're just starting. They're just beginning aren't they? If you've got any questions glad to answer Give me a call right. It's okay Richard in grand rapids. Michigan is next. I Richard Leo LaPorte the Tech Guy. Leon Happy Easter. Oh I hung up. On Cody Cody. Call me back. Forgot we had him on. Hold all that time. Happy Easter to you Richard. That's all right we'll get we'll get cody and eleanor. Back on the line Politics Yeah what can I do for you? Well I got a Samsung S. Five cell phone and it had it for about five years. Run through two batteries. What I'm asking you for is how can I tell when it's time to replace it when it's done when you're done with it maybe more importantly so you already have replaced the batteries? That's usually the first and pretty much the only thing that's GonNa wear out on a smartphone. The battery you get about two years three years out of it and then it just doesn't hold a charge but that's already happened to you in your replaced. It makes it good as new. The next thing to worry about is when do updates stop when his Samson going to say and I believe that's happened already for the S. five when a Samsung going to say we're not going to give you the latest security patches and that's when maybe especially with android now I have to figure you're a smart Guy Richard and you probably don't download? Oh I don't know Russian wallpaper APPs right right. Yeah you're not going to hacker DOT COM to get the latest cracked version of something. No in fact if you honestly if you don't install any new software on their chances are you're fine almost always on android and this is true actually by Os to the hacks. The bad guys get in through malicious apps so as long as even though Samsung is not updating it and you're using an old version of android I don't know what are you android five android six old version of android. That's all okay because it's still works. It really the only issue security and unlike windows where the security because such a problem on windows that bag I can get stuff into your system without you. Download anything mobile operating systems are pretty much designed not to be vulnerable to that the big vulnerability there is is APPs. So I would say as long as you're happy with the five. It still works the APPS you want to use still work and you don't and you're very careful or better yet. Don't download new APPS at all. No right that's me. You're fine okay. That's the one thing to be aware of. Is the security issue. What would be the? I don't want to the latest greatest. Were being a newer well. Samsung is now up to the ten. So you're five back behind times little bit back and the S. ten Actually I apologize. They're up to the s twenty but that really should be the s eleven so I probably just released. He has twenty. I actually would not recommend that. But because he has twenty came out you could get an S. ten. Then I I knew I was never a fan of the five. I loved the S. One two three the five. I was a little disappointed within the six was great the eight so. I think that they've gotten better the only thing you might not like the size. They've also gotten bigger but take a look at the ten. That would be a more affordable because they've come out with a newer version and yet still very up-to-date and boy. The cameras have gotten really good since he has five. Okay well thank you. You're welcome Richard. Thank you happy Easter now. I have to apologize to my buddy cody and eleanor. I'm so sorry. Press the button too fast. I'm glad you got back in cody. No problem I Apologize House Eleanor. She okay good. She's sleeping in the back. Seat of the truck. Is that why you're driving around? Yeah well we're we're visiting the family through doors and windows. You know I've noticed people doing that. It's so cute. I was visiting my son. I stayed on the curb he was at his porch. And then right next door. The neighbors were doing the same thing. Think it's so sweet and they want to see her. Of course that's the new baby. Exactly exactly how fun? So what can I do for you? Well much like many of your callers. The yesterday I recently bought an epson fast. Foetal scanner isn't that funny. Y- that's good and do you like it. It awesome I bought it before you know. We're all stuck at home and had time on our hands But now I have a perfect perfect opportunity to both through some old photos. Banned you bet Along with that and obviously having a newborn taking a bunch of new photos yeah trying to figure out a process for taking some of these pictures with Meta data and things like that now the Epson you probably know by the way sponsor we talk about the fast photo a lot One of the things it does. It's really cool. As it does to side they'll get the back and it will add. What's on the back to meditate so it does some Meta data but obviously your your parents. When they took pictures of you did not read. Hashtag Cody Hashtag. Two years old. So there is additional. Meta data that you might want to add at and that's going to be done in software and really comes down to your photo organizing tool. Do you have one that you use using bridge adobe bridge okay for some of that one of the things? I'm also doing uploading all the photos to Google photos which does a facial recognition by the way that was my first recommendation for automatic doesn't just face recognition it. Will I type in Paris? And then we'll give me all my pictures of Paris. It's pretty smart so I think that's a very good starting point then. Does it automatically? You don't have to do it. Yeah that seems to work really well what I was. Kinda hoping you've arrived. Where are you now? We were picking up our Easter Dinner. Oh how fun. Oh that's one. Sorry for the noise no no I don't mind I like I'm kind of living vicariously through you. Cody and your newborn. What's your and your wife to I take with you. That's right. Yeah she's She's riding Shotgun Nice So so you're a photographer using bridge. You must be. You must have the dopey creative suite. Yeah so light room. Of course is is the tool that most photographers using has excellent. Meta data technology. If that's what you WANNA do okay I would not hesitate to use Light Room for that. We used to use Picasso remember. What a great program that was and I'm so sad. Google bought and it There's nothing you know. There's there's programs sort of like that like are you in a Mac or PC easy. Yeah Earth view their programs. Kind of like that Bridge has that capability to. I mean what is it that you're missing from those programs. Oh one of the things you know like Google photos. You can search by a person's face forget. Hang on hang on for just a second. We gotta take a break Octavia talk to you off the air as you get your Easter Dinner. Hope you all enjoying your Easter Sunday. Leo LaPorte the tech. I more calls and drabbed Matteo coming up. Sorry.

"The Galaxy s twenty twenty plus twenty and the Z flip. Which and the rest of the world they called. Zad Flip which I I don't know I like the head flip. That's a good name. I ordered one but good luck. Getting them kind of makes me mad. I don't know if Samsung provides them or these. People just know how to do it. But they're all the youtube reviewers have got. They're trying to numb waiting. I'm excited about it except that That Guy Jerry. Riggs everything got his you know about Jerry on Youtube. He destroys phones. Destroyer of phones and Yeah he took an exact knife. Just pains me. Took him to the phone like you're going to do that. Are you going to do that? What he does the tests the hardness of the screen. You know so he's he has. Samsung has had problems. As you probably know these folding funds Z. Flip is another one of them folding loans or two ways ago with folding phones fold out to make a bigger so it's like phone size. Sicker opens up. Now you gotTA tablet or and I think this is going to end up being very popular folds together to make a small little pocket square kind of phone. The you know you slip in your pocket your person then you open it up and it's normal size and that's what the Z. Flip is it's a six point seven inch from the folds in half so you could just pocket it. I think that's actually good and there's some kind of I think this is a good idea isn't kind of the hinge is Stiff enough so that you can have it all the way open but you can also have halfway open. So it's like a little smirk laptop you could put their little Barbie laptop and then there are programs can understand that. Because I guess Google's put that in android now and so if it's if it's folded a little bit it'll say oh they'll use the top for instance Google's duo which is their phone calling their video calling. You know their facetime program. If you're halfway folded they'll put the video of the person in the top half and the controls and the bottom have and you can aim at just like you would with a laptop to get the camera aimed just right. I think that's kind of cool right little Barbie Laptop. I'll put it in my Barbie funhouse. It'll be cute but don't scratch it with an exacto knife okay Jerry is famous for testing the hardness of screens and so the Samsung Galaxy. Fold was notorious for a very fragile screen. In fact reviewers broke it. The first day many reviewers did the first day and Well that wasn't so Samsung said. Well we're okay. Never mind. Forget that and they came back a couple months later they said well. We fixed the fixed it but it's still a soft because to be flexible screen like that. The screen has to bend. It's gotta be soft plastic. It's an led led screen and Which those can bend and so convened but you know it might have looked Kinkel's or cases little bubbles. Little ripples is at spending The the Moto Racer which they made they foolishly announced this two weeks ago right before Samsung and There's crinkles and say you know might have some creases crinkles normal And of course Jerry when he takes his exacto knife to the folder. The motor razors slices right through it. Because it's plastic SAMSA. Oh don't worry the Z. Flip we're going to We're GONNA make this with folding glass super thin glass it'll fold. Jerry says no no. It's not he scratches. It scratches it. He says it's still pretty soft. Okay so remind me not to use exacto knife on it. Some of the Chairman Says Yeah and Jerry. Rig Is everything has five million subscribers. Yeah they do. Find half a million views on this. There's durability tests so I guess you know he could afford to buy a fourteen hundred dollar phone. Yeah that's how much it is and destroy it break. My heart brought by Debrecen I just I you know. I'm I'm probably not going to scratch it with an exact on so jerry. It's probably not glass glass. We Jerry doesn't know. Jerry SAYS PROBABLY NOT GLASS. Glass is probably a plastic with some glass mixed in or so. I don't know I don't care I I have learned not to scratch it.

"Hi I'm showing the company colors wearing my twit twit hoodie today you know so I you know I guess. I thought it was a good idea when I named the network in two thousand thousand four. I thought it was a good idea. But then I you know because it's funny self deprecating this week in tech but now I realize is all the head gear the hats and the t shirts and all that stuff people don't WanNa wear because it's announcing but they're twits. "Recover deleted files. That's a very big difference right. What you're looking for is a photo recovery coverage program that it's not that the files deleted the files damaged? You want something that will fix a damaged file well cried. Yeah now I'm not. How can I don't WanNa preach good okay because I don't want to be a preacher here but that's why you back up? It's very costly lesson. Learn I'm sorry to say all right. Well thank you so much. I'm sorry. Yeah there are you know so. There's some files that can be corrupted. That can be reconstructed. And maybe we've had this experience with your e Mail for instance. Suddenly emails all messed up. And there's a rebuild the database command and most email programs that's because the database ace's corrupted but the actual files the actual emails are still there so it can recreate that it. Just it's it's just. It's a complicated thing to do. And if for file were just like for instance if your word processor files were just a bunch of text. Well you know if you've lost the font style or or the paragraph information at least you'd get the text back right but the problem is a lot of word processor files aren't just the text Microsoft word. Heard for instance does some really weird things with the text and you can tell this there are programs out there and maybe this I don't know maybe this is worth a well. It's not gonNa work with the photography program but if you had a text file that were damaged and you wonder recover it. There are programs that call hex editors that let you are there other programs. That'll do let you just open the contents without making any substance at all about what it is as a photo. Is it a wordpress. We don't know we'll just show you. What date is on the disk? Sometimes Times that's useful and I've used heck senators to do this because you can see what the data is on the disk and certainly in a word processor you could see. The raw text is there and even even extracted by hand manually. But a photo is a little bit of a different beast. I'm sorry to say and honestly the formats that they put those in. I think you can't just rebuild the picture from b. m. p. files were like that unconfessed tiffs chiefs. Ti F- files might be might be recoverable that way but most tiffs are compressed Japex or heavily compressed and that compression means that you can't just say well here's a bit put that may that's the sky another bit another bit another bit now. Here comes the tree another another. It's not like that. It's it's it's junk. Basically basically junk sorry to say. Eighty eight eighty eight. Ask Leo speaking of photos. We're GONNA talk with our photo guy. Chris Markwort we've got a new assignment hot. He's gone onto the alphabet so we did last time we did Golden G. Now we're on H. He's looking for picture. "All the time, you do a little hearing test with the phone and your preferred headphones. And from then, on, it will make sure all the sound has your particular hearing, curve built into it, which I find remarkable, and that's not an Android thing. But then they also do some weird things with the UI. The good thing about androids, you can use third party launchers? I use active launcher and it makes it exactly as I customize the heck out of it. But it allows allows you to put in SD cards. They handle hails at very well. I put my music my photos. My videos media is what I put on their audio books, and, and it's I, I agree with you. It's a nice thing to have especially because I could take it with me. Next time put in the next phone in almost always, it will be recognized because the formats the same. So I would not hesitate to recommend Samsung, if you really want an ST card, they're pricey. But I think they make the best Android phones out there. And they're the equivalent of a great flight fluffy. Biscuit. Jeff Guy Laporte the old tech guy. Yeah. I mean, there are other companies that make them but I have to say at this point Android is Google Samsung and everybody else. And use in do you think that the camera are you happy with the S ten plus camera the town or the s the Samsung camera you were with the pixel? So I, I still have a pixel three XL the only place the pixels, better is in dark dark, dark mode. And by the way Samsung has been with every update improving their phone, but in many ways the Samsung, if you get the ten plus is better because it has three lenses. It has a close up medium, and wide, very wide lens. And I actually prefer the camera on the ten. So you're not I think it's a better, you know, the, the pixel has had all sorts of trouble with memory management. The battery life on the Samsung is remarkable. I don't have any. I have no hesitation, recommending the, the galaxies to be honest with you. The note will become fairly soon. I went crazy. I bought the overpriced the top of the line terabytes to orange. Ten plus the ceramic back. Well, you know, for review purposes, we had right? You understand. You know, me so, well, rich. Purview purposes. I wish I had that in my life. Purposely. Oh man. The nicest knife, Bendel. Sometime. We'll we'll compare knives. But I rarely use it to good. I don't I just use from chop and celery. I'm not going to bring out my special knife. But I have it, but once spoils knife, you'll never go back because how it goes through an onion or how a chops agreeing, onion, or how chop something once you have that feeler sliced tomato, you can't go back. Well, you know what I did because I read board, Dane. I got a global. Wow. Wow. They're not huge. They're not horribly expensive. They're actually, but they're nice they're really sharp. And I bought a wet stone. And, you know, I mean, I and, and, you know, I, I have a nice knife, Bendel I even got a little bit. And but I just I I'm so hesitant to bring it out because it's like I have to get over that, obviously. Really beautiful. I still have my original from the seventies, my original knives, which was tough, and I have a carbon steel knife, and I it's not resistant to row. That's, that's all I buy all I will buy his okay because I want them so that. Yeah, there's so sharp. There's so exactly. Never. Nobody else can ever use them. No, there for your and I use it. "Five, three six year listening to the tech guy. A welcome back to the tech guy, rich Mira with you on this Saturday. We're talking tech Leo LaPorte on vacation filling in for him. By the way, thanks to Leo for letting me do this. I appreciate it on the tech reporter at KTLA channel five in Los Angeles. So most of the time I'm talking tech on the TV in the morning on morning shows across America including Los Angeles. It's fun to come up here to these studios and talk tech on Leo show. So the phone lines are open. You have a question eight ask Leo, but like to bring a guest on right now, Johnny jet travels. The world basically has a dream job for a majority of people who are not scared to fly because if you were scared to fly, you wouldn't want your job. I used to be afraid to fly what? Yes, I got over my fear, but you could not get me out of plane for three years between the ages of eighteen and twenty one, but I was always fascinated with it. I still am today blows me away that people can be transported in just a short amount of time to a completely different part of the world. And I just think people these days aren't really appreciative of what they do. I mean, were they. Can do. I mean, I've gone to Hawaii for dinner before. Gosh, that's amazing. I agree. You wake up to me whenever I fly the fact that number one, I'm putting my trust in an expert and you know these people do it every day. It's kind of like when people say to me like, oh, you make so easy to be on TV. We'll number one. Nobody ever says that to me. But one day I hope they do, but you know what I mean? It's like, but to to pilot that's flying these things to them. It is easy and I'm not discounting their job. Believe me. It's very complex. But if you ask them, you're like, oh my gosh, I can't. We can't imagine doing it. Well, I can't, but to them, it's what they do. And that's why we have so many different people in this world that do what they do. They're the experts in their field, and that's what I love about this world is I'm not gonna learn how to fly plane. I don't want to need to, but I'm gonna let those guys and they devote their entire lives. I read that book the soli guy. I read his book and it's just amazing heath loved. I mean, everything about flying was so technical to him and just beautiful, and that's why he was able to do it. He did. It might make thing was I was afraid of not only. Crash, but I got over that because I've read all the statistics. I asked people studied it. I'd go to the airport for ten. I was flying. And then my other thing was it being in control? What if I had an asthma attack back, then I had asthma or what if you know headings -iety tank. I couldn't just pull over the side of the road. I in car, shut that door if it's for real. And so I got over by listen to my favorite music. I would not. I wouldn't read the sports page until I got on the plane. But once we took off, I was finding, I realized how smooth and safe it is..
