"Let's move on to we have no ties in the show. So this is just a lone 11th place we have the Indianapolis colts Connor. What's the deal with the colts? Wow, we have Indianapolis high. I know you think so. I was gonna say, we have Indianapolis low, but you go ahead. Really? Yeah. I think they made the absolute steal of the off season. Waited until the falcons did the dumbest thing, which was to get into the deshaun Watson sweepstakes. And then not even have the fortitude to close the deal. After you alienated the franchise quarterback that brought you to the Super Bowl and made you relevant for a decade. But I think Matt Ryan still got some good football after him. You know, he takes care of himself, it's not like he's the mental processing has slowed in any way. That team just got really bad and really old around him. They got him for next to nothing. They're pairing them with a really good play caller. And good checked out artist. Yeah. And so you have John Taylor there. I think there's gonna be, I think it's gonna be spicy this year, offensively. That's the deal with this team. Yeah, you know, Connor, I really agree with you about Matt Ryan, and I think you can question whether Matt Ryan's arm is, you know, it's not prime that Ryan arm. But it's still a good enough arm, especially if you're playing your home games indoors. If they have to go outdoors, they have to go to buffalo in January, maybe this comes up as an issue. But, you know, it's enough and it also just gives them a level of competence that they didn't have late last year in Carson Wentz, and that is probably why Carson Wentz is not there anymore. But the other thing I want to highlight real quickly is this defense and I don't think it's a huge departure going from Matt eberflus to Gus Bradley. You have the same basic principles here. I will say, I mean, look, Gus Bradley's defense in Vegas and it's funny because we were wondering when they hired him. It was like, oh, they hired the old Seahawks guy with his single high looks like this will never work in 2021.

"Anthony Richardson was statistically not phenomenal, but got the team back to where they needed to be to put them in position to potentially win that game. The Rams and Pukina Kua. I mean, they're just I feel like they're the story of the NFL this year and no one's quite paying attention. This is a reborn Sean McVeigh. He's winning with like, you know, a fifth round pick at running back that they drafted last year. You know, mid round guys. And we thought this could only work with superstar players. And I Stafford looks good. And yeah, I mean, like they're gonna get Cooper Cup back now. Like, I mean, at the end of Puka, by the way, that would be sad. I hope not. I don't think so. Like, I know there's similar players like stylistically, but I got faith that McVeigh and his crew are going to be able to find a way to get back both out there at the same time. Could you and then we'll get into this, but you and I have both kind of written about this over the years. The reason that Cooper Cup is so good is because he plays like a tight end and Puka does too. You could almost be running like 13 personnel on the field with two really good wide receivers like this could get nutty. And, uh, I think, I think that, uh, I think it could be a lot of fun. Uh, I'm looking, I'm looking forward to it, but the Rams man, sneaky playoff contenders had him in there. Um, I like everything about, you know, it's, you know, what's great about it too. Connor is they come out of this year. They project to have $74 million in cap space next year, and they'll have a first round pick for the first time in a decade. Run it back. Go get it. Go get a bunch of other good free agents next year. Now do it again. Yeah. Yep. Yep. You could double dip at the end of the Stafford. I mean, if you think about it though, like if you've got a bunch of Pukka Naku is on your team that are on rookie contracts. Now all of a sudden those guys don't need to be paid for a couple of years. You can do a lot with your roster when it comes to veterans. All right. Uh, so let's look at a free agency next year. Leonard Williams, uh, Chris Jones, uh, DJ reader T Higgins, uh, Burns. Although he'll be, he'll be tagged. I'm sure chase young chase young. That's a nice, like, right. Yeah. Kind of a budget option. Um, there's a lot of good players and there is every year, but I think that there is an attractiveness too. Chase young will be, chase young will be like right up their alley and like a Leonard Floyd kind of way, you know, like a reclamation project. Like, yeah, like, um, yeah. I mean like the idea that they could have some money to spend with a nice base of young players and a revitalized Sean McVeigh makes a lot of sense. Does, um, so they were up 17 to nothing in this game. And I think we will get to the Shane Steichen appreciation part of this, but to have a rookie quarterback and Zach, you know, Zach Wilson came back from seven down 17 against the chiefs, which I think was equally as impressive, but had a safety, had some help there right off the bat, but to be down as deep as Indy was, and with the style of quarterback that Anthony Richardson is now versus what he's going to become in the future. I think this was an absolute hell of a performance. They're down 23. Sorry. But, and it's just, the whole thing is so good. It's so patient. They never lose control of the pacing of the scheme. They were still running a steady diet of Zach Moss when they were down 23 points and all they understand that they can get quick strikes. They can get quick points. I don't think that the Colts have anything to be upset about here. This was as good of a morale booster as you could possibly want out of something. I mean, it's like another example to me too, of like the job Shane's done of keeping everybody on board after all the drama in this summer with Jonathan Taylor. And I thought, by the way, I thought that puts Shane in an awful position. You know what I mean? Like that you had, you had like one of your best players, one of your most respected players, one of your most well liked players who is completely being alienated by ownership. And you're a new coach trying to build a program. This is a really, really difficult situation for a first year coach to be in. And so to be able to work through that and, you know, get the buy-in that he's gotten and build the running in that he's built without Jonathan Taylor in it. And, you know, get the year that he's gotten so far out of Zach Moss and develop Anthony Richardson the way that they've developed Anthony Richardson. And, you know, a lot of the things that we remember about the Colts when Frank Reich was winning there from, I would say, what, 18 to 21, right? Like a lot of those things are kind of popping back up now. Like, oh yeah, like DeForest Buckner is a damn good player and they've got a pretty good front and Jack Leonard's really good. And, you know, I just, you know, you, you, you look across the board and are they the best roster in the league? No, but they also aren't the worst. You know, like they, and like Anthony Richardson walked into a decent, like he's got a decent group around him and they're not that far off, I think, from being pretty good. Now they're not there yet, but you certainly see where they're going to be in a position coming out of this year to take advantage of that window you have with your quarterback on his rookie contract, or they could really kind of make a run, you know, in the next couple of years with some of the core players they already have in place. And Colts defense played really well, but you know, and Gus Bradley, I think is one of those guys that part of the reason they didn't go defense in the first place is because they wanted to hold on to Gus, even though the Colts interviewed like 67 people for that head coaching job before they landed on their candidate. But, um, you know, so I'll have to mention, you know, Kenny Moore, all those guys, defense played really well. The touchdown pass that Richardson had to Mo Ali Cox was ridiculous and to follow it up with two point conversion. Um, I mean, he's going to be a star, man. Like he is going to be, and, and, and maybe like, we don't know what the limitations are on him yet. I'm sure we will find it, but man, like just a special player, you know, and just so much fun to watch. But I love that both of these teams are competitive. This game just made me happy. I've no, I've no other take other than this game made me very happy. I'm so excited to see where Richardson goes. Cause he's like this guy who, like, I feel like, and it's funny too, like how Florida struggled in college football kind of like, and I don't know how much, how closely you followed that Connor, but it kind of like adds some context to like, why, like he was consistent last year. You know, sometimes you get that when a guy leaves a school and you can kind of see when he leaves, like, Oh, maybe he wasn't like in the best position last year. You know, maybe there were some things wrong fundamentally there that he had to overcome. So you're seeing that. And I think like you see athletically the guy who he's, he's so good athletically that he can kind of, he's got this escape hatch to make it work when things aren't perfect there for him, which buys him time to develop. And it does seem like you watch him play. And I just talked about how, how everything looks so hard for Mac, like Anthony Richardson, everything looks easy. You know, like everything looks like, like, like some of his touchdown run, like there were a couple of his touchdowns. I think maybe it was the one he had the concussion on against Houston where it looked like he was fricking jogging and like you watch him and it's like, like it doesn't look like he's running very hard. And yet he's like passing three guys on the way to the end zone. You know what I mean? Like he's Derek Henry, he's quarterback, Derek Henry. It's, it's ridiculous. Um, yeah, no, it's a bright future there. Um, and so that segues into the last game that I really want to dive in and talk about, which is the bears and the Broncos. And so, uh, good for the Broncos getting on board. Um, Russell Wilson played really well and you know, I wrote last week, I mean, yes, I crushed on Peyton. Um, but at the same time, I mean, I wrote, he is going to get the best out of Russell Wilson. I just think the best out of Russell Wilson isn't consistently good enough to win you games. Like he's going to get the best out of whatever version Russell Wilson is now. But again, what, what is that? Like that is right out. I think, I think Sean Payton, I like watching Russell Wilson over the first month has given me this. Like, I feel like now Sean Payton should be good enough to help the Broncos ride out the guaranteed portion of Russell Wilson's contract and buy them time to go and find the next quarterback. Like that's what it should be. Right? Like your model, if you're Greg Penner, if you're the Walton family is we know we probably made a mistake giving Russell Wilson this huge contract, but can we get competent enough play out of him where his presence on a roster gives us at least a chance to win week to week and can be competent enough. And then that buys us time. We're on the other side. It's like Alex Smith in Kansas city. I know I've used that example before. Can we turn them into that where like we can compete with him and then that'll buy us time over the next three or four years to find the guy that Sean Payton's really going to build around. Like that would be the goal. And I think what we've seen in the first month, despite the fact that they're one and three, they're, they've been fine. I mean, Russell Wilson has been fine. You know, like I, I, I think for the most part, you see a guy who's, who's, who's, who's playing pretty well. Not great. You know, it's not MVP Russell from five years ago, but like he's playing, he's playing okay. You see, he's been good. And you're also seeing a guy who like seems like he's been willing to subjugate himself to the team too, where like when was the last time a Russell soundbite made the rounds? Like we're not hearing a lot from him, right? Yeah.

He's been vaccinated from what i'm told. And he might not be on the field because he can't get two straight days of a negative test or ten days of no symptoms so that could be a big factor where the line might be moving. Browns have confidence against him. They put them last year so Who do you like. The anchor raiders. Lebron's or do we just throw them together. No no in that one. I gotta say i have mahomes. "That you need and to make this a top tier on organization haven't been there and so does the herbert's. What's the right word. Renaissance does the herbert premier sants. Yeah the encouraging. Signs from herbert last year does that compel the organization to say we really need to take advantage. We've got this talented guy on a rookie contract. We've really got to put our foot on the gas now and maybe it does. And if that's great if that is the case then that's great for staley. Who is as you mentioned a really sharp coach and did a fantastic job at the rams defense but it would also be a bummer for the coaches in the past. Who haven't had that kind of support. I think if. I had to pick a team that i would want to coach this roster. The chargers roster is obviously a roster. That i'd want to coach but also the chargers general because like the they just don't have any fans and so it's great like you can kind of just you know you can experiment. You know little bit if your brand is daily you could probably try some things and like no one's gonna care because no one comes to the games anyway you know so it's great and then like you know if you win that's great. It's a surprise but if not just like if you ever met a chuck. Do you know any chargers fans do either of you. Nonni chargers fans i do. You know chargers fan. I think i know too. I've never met a chargers fan in my life. I know one. But i haven't talked to him since they moved from san diego. I don't know if that changed his view on it. Yeah i mean. I just like i. I just don't think they've really exist. Which is fantastic. You know you're just operating in a bubble which is exactly what. I wanna do fiber coach. We should send connor to la in search of a charter. San see how long it takes based on some of the the home away splits when they were playing in the soccer stadium. It would've taken me a while at home game to find the right right. Yeah i'm over under on twenty four hours brennan. Steely the good pick almost set the nfl record last year for fewest. Second half points allowed Which is like a good sign. I guess for a defensive coordinator The guy that you'd want to take over your defense but also former quarterback too. So i think a lot to like. They're also coached every game now. So high gary standards you did. He's just he's showing up all the time now now where he now like. Gus bradley who just took like four games off last year because rally didn't do that by the way and we'll see what goes bradley doesn't vegas i almost forgot he's in vegas. That's how overwhelming. "To move Just to let everyone know the los angeles rams practice in thousand oaks was in ventura county The chargers are set up in costa mesa. Which is in orange county. It's about a two hour drive. If i mean on a perfect day you know maybe maybe a little bit longer but it has to be perfect. Otherwise you're looking at you know two hours so whole thing where he doesn't have to drive that's craziness he. He's he's he's not going to have to move yesterday. But i i digress. He's he was there one year Salmonella sudden the rams are looking for another new defense coordinator whereas i think Gus bradley is going to be here for a little while. presuming he. Has you know Success that's that goes back to kind of stability right like this organization for so long. There's been so much turnover. Now that jon gruden Has his guy. We've seen that he's been able to stabilize your offense little bit. Get derek carr playing. Some of the best football on. His career helped put out the players around him. Now bradley do the same thing. So you can be strong on both sides of the ball and have you talked about at the top of the show. the raiders at their best with could hang with anybody. The problem is they couldn't put that that effort forward on a consistent basis with a better defense. You're going to be able to have a higher floor right more consistent Kind of expectation for you're able to put out in. We doubt in aspen gus. Bradley definitely definitely helps you do that. And like you said Given that he gets struggled a little bit a head coach and might be being a little conservative There's there's like you said it feels like he's going to be here for a while and that bodes well for gruden. Today i really liked him. Bringing ron miles with them you know you go back to It was two thousand from two thousand. Maybe two thousand and one somewhere along there but for the next eight years Rodney Put a one of his pupils wanted. His defense evac pupils there with the chargers into the pro ball. And you know you go back to his days. At in denver with chris harris who you know another late round pick but if you if you look at ron melissa's Track record in terms of development in terms of getting You know that position group those defensive backs on the same page. developed fundamentally knowing what to do For a young defensive backfield you you honestly couldn't have brought in a better teacher Then ron myla's he has tremendous track record in all regards the along the defense with the defensive backs and if you look at this raiders team now with rodney You know being the teacher in for the defensive backfield rod marinelli. I'm not ready to write rod marinelli off. I don't care what happened last year. there are still some improvement on with some of the individual players. That didn't happen as a group. But i i'll. I'll take my chances with rod marinelli as defensive line coach and now richard smith who also has a long track record with with development and specifically at the linebacker position you've really invested now in teachers and development and i think that Obviously you have to increase. Talent needs to improve. But as far as a teacher's for this young defense right now. I think the raiders have done a really good job for themselves Making sure that they have that base covered talk about role models vinnie newness twenty years at the nfl level. Longer to almost thirty frankly And then you get a guy with richard smith who. He's had offensive coordinator. You're kidding experience leading. Ad pets leading. Some good defenses right. He was defensive coordinator for that that made the super bowl. He was linebacker. Strokes in denver helped develop. I mean we know how good that linebacking corps was pay. Manning was a towel right. So there's like you said a wealth of experience in teachers and guys that have done it for a long time at variety of levels in a variety of roles so that's huge that's huge a really solidifies. Rest of that defensive staff. And i think it takes a gus rally. Their intern can focus on some of the big picture stuff now that he has big time other defensive systems defensive assistance in place. So it's it's it's fascinating right. It's it's i think this is definitely on the right. Step my question. You is now. What's next today you still there. There's two talented players in place. But we know they need more. Is that the draft. Is that free agency is that via trade. Is that all free. Where do you think the raiders go from here now to build out the rest of it. Well obviously antibody mention that. Because i will be at the senior bowl next week. in alabama. I think that's kind of where it starts. I mean obviously you.

"I don't know what we're gonna get out of Damon Arnett. Yet He showed classes here and there, but he just wasn't on the field enough to really get a good feel for what kind of corner he's gonna be. I think he's talented. I think he can be really good. How does he fit into the system? We have yet to see. And how are the linebacker's gonna fit in? Because you have to be able to cover you know you're covering your covering a third of the field in that middle underneath kind of area. We know little tin can cover but he didn't have a very good season. I don't know that Nicholas Morrow was gonna gonna be that guy to help out. You know, it's just I think personnel wise. They have a lot of holes that they need to fill to really make this defense go. But I do like the fact that you're gonna be able to come in and kind of simplify things. For the back into that defense in the secondary, because that's where they need the most help. A Sephora's getting lost out there and just go you're taking and your overall grade of the Raiders finishing up with that eight Nate season. Oh, I think we talked about it before very disappointing because for a second year in a row, they had a horrible second half of the season. A lot of it was due to the defense as far as the Gus Bradley higher goes, I don't know if I didn't see the press covers. I don't so I don't know if it was a dress, but I guess he may not have been in the running to be the head coach. With the charges because the charges are a very attractive team, and the defense was one of the reasons why they were relatively competitive in all those one score game, So I guess the fact that he didn't there are apparently was not under consideration. For it is something that works to the benefit of the Raiders going to a team within the division so clearly two games against the Chargers next year he's gonna have Ah ah, lot of knowledge that should help the Raiders and we should see some better defensive performances and Matt touched upon Ah, lot of the fundamental and technical Advantages and strength and weaknesses that Gus Bradley brings. His obviously proved himself in. Seattle didn't have as much to work with in Jacksonville, but nonetheless, I think it's a good hire. And I would expect that the defensive improvement that many of us expected to see this year will be seen next year, especially if there's AH lot more stability as far as offseason moves go, compared to what there was less Dog season when there was a significant change, which is very often it's a good thing, but sometimes the changes take when you have as many changes they had. It takes a season for all those adjustments to work out all those changes to work out, and I think Gus Bradley is coming into a very good situation and again, you're getting you're getting a coach who strength is whose background and strength is the current weakness of the team is inheriting. Vegas, Sandy 7 11 read his stuff in gaming. Today. It's at the sports books on Wednesday mornings, It's dropped off there, and he has good does ah, lot of different articles. At least he has been and will continue through the MBA season and up on until when baseball starts as well, Mac a terrorist at sports adrenaline. You can follow Matt that way, Matt your take on some of the guys that you expect to be back, and then we saw some late season..

"There you go. Meanwhile, the wild have gotten that gold to get back within one of the L A kings 12 22 to go. Third period from Los Angeles. 3 to 2 Kings lead the Wild 3 to 2 Golden Knights lead the Ducks 12 04 to go in that Kings game 12 35 to go in that golden Knights came in regulation will keep an eye on both those games as they move down towards crunch time. And Matt Gutierrez your take us far as Gus Bradley being tabbed. By the Raiders as their new defensive coordinator. Of course, about four years head coaching experience. There were Jacksonville. But part of you know, the guy. Really, that helped orchestrate that legion of boom up in Seattle and different type of defense for the Raiders may be a little bit more simplistic, which may actually help out some of the younger guys and there are some veterans there as well. But he's got a tall task to try and mess this stuff together and also figure out who's he going to keep? Who's going to be let go, and then we'll see what he does as far as His staff, moving forward Richard Smith, the linebackers coach, that was part of his defense of team over there from with the L. A Chargers. His son, Travis Smith has been the assistant defensive line coach here for the Raiders, now in his ninth year, so I didn't know if there's a chance to Maybe Travis's dad. Richard could come over from the Chargers and help out somewhere on defense. We'll wait and see. Richard was also instrumental and solid getting a intern job back in the day, as well as well as Dan Quinn, so he may have other opportunities as well. But your takeover all Matt on the initial hiring of Gus Bradley, because I know we thought Wade Phillips because Bradley is a guy that's been, you know, pretty successful on the defensive side of the ball and for him to stay inside the division and come over here to Vegas from the Chargers organization and again a defense that you know has Joey Bosa and and several other Really key James and then some other key players. That tells me something that he sees the vision that Mark Davis and you know Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden sold him. No, I I'm too full here with the Bradley higher. I like the higher Don't get me wrong. I think I think Bradley is going to do a good job here in Vegas, and I think he's a solid defensive coach. I think one of the one of the biggest assets to hiring him is he knows how to build a defense. As far as personnel is concerned, we saw him do it. In Seattle. Hey, did it in Jacksonville, and you saw what he had there in and in l, A almost a San Diego again, man. I can't get away from that can But you saw what he did in L A there. Um The problem is I think everybody's expecting him to come in and immediately make this a playoff caliber defense and I don't know. Where they fit right now. If they have the personnel for that he's going to have to make a lot of changes. His hay said It a lot during the press conference is introductory press conference there that you know. It all starts up front, everything that his defense is about. It's starting with that front four because he doesn't like the blitz that we know how his defense is. Place that cover three style doesn't really blitz blitz the whole lot. And that means that you need those front four guys to really get after the pass rusher and let's be honest, There's not a whole lot more disappointing in the NFL. As far as the front four goes on with the Raiders have thrown out there the last several years. They? They're just not getting after quarterback at all. So 21 sacks this season. Couldn't couldn't get the ball from anybody. They only had what were their minus 11 in the turnover difference. Only 15 takeaways. Yeah, the whole season, so he's going to he's going to have to find Some legitimate pass rushers to put on that front four to really make a difference on the positive side, though I think this this absolutely helps a guy like Jonathan Abram out. Abram gets lost in coverage a lot..

Defense the style that you should see is a team that plays with great effort. Great enthusiasm great toughness and adidas a place. Smart that that is arkie. That's the style when people talk now if you to set a wha what is our non-negotiables that is fast physical. And we've got to find a way to get the ball and We gotta sit up opportunities for the offense score them possessions and you know every call that we design is really whether even if it's just three d you say or man coverage we want the players have the mindset that every every call that we have is designed to get the ball and it's very important the communication that take place within the defense. We're going to add defense. We're going to be very multiple but not the expense that we don't play fast. That's first and foremost. What is your blandford forgetting. Some of these players clear. Farrell damodar net trayvon. Jonathan abraham up to speed that next level. Well i think first and foremost to build but obviously the staff freak. The staff has has done here. You're great job with fundamentals and things like that and then you involve a note new system when i would say it is a system now we have in place and those things. That are negotiable. But we also don't wanna players to be robots. There's things that we do that we feel strongly about and it's really based on fundamentals and things like communication fundamentals saqlain guys get off upfront but the defense align so there's some non-negotiables like that is an exciting defense to play and i would say that the players will be very excited to be part of it. Because they're they know that they're gonna have the billion of play fast and i think is our job as coaches is really to evaluate the players and then put them in position to where they can make plays and like. I said for me to be fair to the players. That's gonna take place the next month or so you know. We're going to be heavy in tuned to it. I'm excited about a guy Coach rod marinelli is going to be a part of the staff and he was another big reason why this was so important..

Laura was a do that he just understood the whole defense in the playbook so well so learning low techniques from these guys have meat you know be successful so far right now and you know into future longer so we talked a little bit about what it's like not having that off season program but you did something kind of unique when you didn't get a call up for the combine and you did this virtual workout. How important do you think that was for you to get seen. And what kind of advice do you have for anybody that would be coming into the league. Having the same situation since cove is still looming over us off south Anybody who wants to plan the league you know you gotta do whatever you can to just get noticed you know. I feel like i did a job. You novi being noticed. But i needed to do a little more. You know what not having no pro day no by so meets on my own. What was that feeling like for you. Trying to fight for a spot here as an undrafted free agent It was difficult to not the done a great job. You know just being able to continue to stay in the building and fight for my job. Every day you know with practice squad. Just come into play football everyday. The game i love and just being able to have the coach understand and notice him. You just know that you know. He's he's a guy that really comes in and he and he goes to work. Well interactions like okay. Great and a good is a great dude. He's a blunt dude. He reminds me a lot. Like oh sanchez His good do he. He knows so much about football. He's intelligent man you know he's been around a lot of programs. He's been allowed everywhere. He's one of those dudes that you know. We want to keep our listeners are only mention this for 15 seconds, but the one cool thing about the NHL this year and I know I know I've already gone over the hockey quoted all the Canadian teams are playing in the same division. So this season all the Canadian teams, they're just playing each other. In the regular season because of all the travel going from the United about seven Canadian teams in the NFL in the NHL. Excuse me. So instead of crossing over the border for the United States and Canada with the coronavirus all these problems all the Canadian teams are together. Not a big story in the United States, But I imagine if you're a hockey fan north of the border. That is an incredible one time on Lee. Unprecedented cool thing. No, that is great. Yeah, your hockey expert your thoughts. Well, I think it's a zoo. Great. They don't have to travel. They could just stay right up right up in Canada and go across from one side to the next. What are they doing when it comes playoff time? No there right now Going to try to not do a double bubble or anything. They're hoping that they can have some sort of a regular semblance of playoffs. Remember? Last year, the MBA had one bubble in Orlando, but the NHL it too, and Edmonton And Toronto so they're going to try to see Let's try to get through this the way the NFL did the way some of these other sports date and have a reasonable facsimile of the post. No, it'll be fun I want I want to know. Tonight will be the first guy that possibly get a hat trick. I mean, that'll be fun to tune in to watch. So there you go, Jae. That's it. We're moving on stupid when we get to the Stanley Cup. Hopefully we're out there. So pandemic. We all have to sit in front of the glass and go to a hockey game. Just drink beer. We have to find a way to do it together. I will say this way. Have we have our conference call every Sunday on football Sunday Key. We all have a couple. It's okay. And we should just mention for fun if you've never been to, and we kind of take this for granted. We're in the media business. You guys were former pro athlete. You've lived this They tell you hockey and NASCAR to SportsCenter struggling. I'll say this in one minute if you go to them in person. People say it's actually like a life changing thing. If you see the speed at ice level, if you see how fast these cars are moving at 200 Miles an hour, it gives you a much greater appreciation than it does watching on television and cheek tongue in cheek planted firmly plant on your tongue in cheek. All right, let me come up. Another cliche Here is the SportsCenter that I like. Okay, Here we go. He's mentioned fun. It is fun. This is kind of fun. So the Raiders yesterday hired a defensive coordinators. Name is Gus Bradley. You might remember him as the old coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was with Seattle for a long time. Big high energy guy. He hired him as their defensive coordinator. But when they made the initial announcement to say, you know Gus Bradley, Welcome to the Raider Nation. Welcome to the silver and black. They tweeted out a picture of someone else. They tweeted out a photo of Ken Wizened Hunt, Who you may remember was the former Cardinals head coach, Most recently the OC of the Los Angeles Chargers. I will mention if there's any reason for the mishap, and I'm not justifying it by any means. But Gus Bradley and Ken wasn't hunt. We're on the staff with the Chargers from 2017 to 2019 leading to the obvious question. And if you do, look at him side by side did it maybe is a slight Slight resemblance. Who have you been mistaken for that either caused you a great level of embarrassment. Or you had to kind of tell the person you know, actually, thanks, But I'm not that person. Anthony Edwards Key. No, no, I know. Um A bunch of guys, though I mean a lot. A lot of anybody 64 with a faith this dark skin. Been mistaken for y'all. Don't you laugh before J. It is. The truth is, I didn't have them all, man. Anybody that they think Look like me resemble me on and I'm gonna keep givin some cried James and he's 67. No, I swear to us nothing that LeBron I swear. God dog that I've been mistaking. I'm like, Know what dudes like 67 Man. I've been Michael Irvin. I've been You were a playmaker. Yeah, but just like we don't even look alike, though. It's right. Come on, like I could get You know, But then the funny thing is when you go on the elevators, the ride in the elevator is always interesting to be stairs, stairs, quizzical stares. Do you play sports? I've had to tell people some of the craziest thing. No, I You know, I'm going to my Nightline voice. No, I I don't play sports. I'm a neurosurgeon. I'm an attorney. You had a head. I gave him all that. I actually I am in law school, and they know you're you're not. You're kidding. No, I'm not a nasty look Athletic all that, But I've been mistaken for people, Jay. I mean, it happens, right? I have one I had when I was going through the airport. And this little kid comes up to me is like, Oh my God. I would such a big fan of yours. Can I have your autograph? What do you think is going on and what's have all these sports a crazy start talking about sports and the kid's dad is there and he's looking at me, and he's staring. And we're talking. I'm all right with that higher defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. What's the problem? Zach? When the Raiders announced the Tay and social media. They showed a picture of Ken wasn't hon. Let's start with events from a week ago tomorrow, January 6th at the U. S Capitol. Where were you? And what was your reaction to what you're hearing was going on? Well, I was at my house, which is about 10 blocks away from the Capitol building. A lot of my colleagues. In the building itself, and it was a pretty shocking day. I'm shocking is putting it mildly to see you know, the citadel of American democracy overrun by rioters on blue ders is just is just horrifying and In talking to members of Congress and in the days after, I mean, some of these stories are horrifying, people were literally calling. There's thousands and saying I love you in case I don't get to say that. Wow. From what we originally saw on TV or heard on the radio. I'm sure as you mentioned among your colleagues, there were more horrific things that came to light in the aftermath of this uprising. What are some of the things Maybe our listeners are not aware of. Well, you know, there were moments of extreme heroism among some members of the Capitol Police Force one member of 11 officer in particular. Intentionally drew the mob away from the U. S Senate chamber while some of the doors were still open that prevented what could have been an absolute catastrophe that would have made an already horrific day. Even worse. On the other hand, this is emblematic of a pretty substantial security failings in what is supposed to be one of the most secure buildings in the world. I got to Washington D. C just a couple of weeks before September 11th and in the intervening 20 years, billions of dollars have been spent to secure this city. The fact that these writers could just overwhelm the police, so seemingly so easily, is a massive failure that people are going to need to investigate. Already, the top security officials on Capitol Hill have all been fired because they were so bad at their jobs and now a huge presence of incoming protection if you will, from national Guard and more With these FBI warnings that came out yesterday, which you're chilling. Yeah, As a matter of fact, I spent some time yesterday talking to state legislative leaders across the country, including Washington State Senator Karen Keiser. There were some protests in Olympia. These state capitals are are preparing for their own round of protests. Next week on the tensions are growing even higher. Pick so if that's me. I think there's some appeal there knowing that he's done work with the richard sherman of the world. The cam chancers guys that byron maxwell the these high level defensive backs were able to produce for the seattle seahawks. I think if we're talking about him in particular when i go through his resume that's one thing. That really appeals to me. And that's one thing that stood out loud you mentioned that because You know In talking to jon gruden as did last week. One of the things that he talked about was you know your communication development track record and all that and And you know when you look at the legion of boom. Which which. Gus bradley when you look back at those draft the the drafting of the eventual legion of boom players members. Right You know i. I remember somebody on twitter. Hit me up about gus bradley. I think That's pretty huge That's something that the raiders. Just haven't had they haven't been able they for whatever reason especially defensively aside from khalil mack. A few years ago but aside from him and he was just a i mean. That was an obvious. One is a four year school homeadvisor here. So but the but the The draft and development aspect just hasn't been there necessarily for the raiders met. Take a guy like gus bradley in chris. Richard have been prominent in that in their careers To me that's the thing. That if raiders fan. I'd be excited about You know a bringing the on board strictly for that factor in obviously the playcalling schemes and the designs in the coordinating and all that you know That plays a factor into it as well but being able to be part of the draft process in developing them taking them from a to b b to c. That's the part that if i'm a fan of excited about let me let me go through this. Let me delve into this real quick. You know like you talked about drafting developments. Richard sherman was fifth round. Pick right answer. Fifth round pick ran browner Undrafted free agent that they plucked out of the cfl covered him in highschool really. Yeah so our high school. Stuck by Gus Bradley has stuck by Doug Marone head Tom Coughlin there dug out of the closet. I mean, he has tried and he's been steady and he's been patient, and it has not worked. So you know that you've got some runway. I think it's a slam dunk if your urban Meyer because, as Ralph Russo also brings up there You're not going to another college program.
