"And now, the low post. Welcome to the low post podcast on a Tuesday morning. We are halfway through the NBA season in terms of games played and I have not checked in with our resident expert, color analyst on our biggest NBA games since the beginning of the season since pre season, so a lot of time has passed. We've got a lot of data. Jeff van Gundy, there's a lot to talk about. How are you, sir? Doing well, how are you? I'm doing well. What's to complain about? We're halfway through the NBA season. I was at raptors Knicks yesterday. I don't know if you saw that ending, one of the craziest endings I've ever seen in person almost an all time bad loss for the raptors it was insane. Yeah, it was a hard fought game and I did watch it and Fred van fleet. It reminded me of when he took a foul at Thai game, not knowing the score, that happened for us when I was with the Knicks as an assistant in 94 when we went to the finals. Or was it 95 Sam Mitchell took a file in a tie game, not knowing the score. And it ended up that was the Reggie Miller where he scored 8 and what 9 seconds? 8.9 seconds. Yeah. And in that game, Sam Mitchell fouled, I believe it was Starks, stars went to the line, missed both, and then they escaped. So it was really like, it brought back memories, you know, have always no one time score, penalty, time outs, all that. And that was crazy game. It was a tremendous win for the raptors and a really difficult loss for the Knicks. We could all agree, I mean, I realized that I'm talking to a biased party here. Reggie Miller fouled Greg Anthony on that inbounds pass, right? In that game, pushed him down, got to steal, turned around, hit a three. We could all agree that's a foul, right? Not in those days. I don't know. Yeah. That was just one of those things where like, you know, you preach all year play 48 and finish games and, you know, the bigger issue was we came out, I think it was up 6. No, might have even been more. And we just gave Reggie Miller a wide open catch and shoot three from a side out of bounds. I mean, you know, so we did everything wrong they did everything right in that period of time and unfortunately the bad guys won that one. Quick thoughts on the raptors that all eyes are on them as the trade deadline approaches their 20 and 24. They've now won four out of 5 to somewhat steady the ship, but as you know, coach just reading the tea leaves and reading the reports, the whole league is watching to see what are they going to do? Are they going to pivot? Are they going to trade one of their key starters and sort of retool or are they going to go full on rebuild and I think they're still just waiting to see kind of like, can we get it in gear a little bit? They've got a ton of road games, unfortunately for them coming up, they're a bunch of home games in the hole already. Road games in the hole already. I just watching that game. It was a win for them. Did it inspire faith? What are you seeing at a Toronto as we get to the halfway point? Well, they really struggle on offense. They've regressed in that area, and I'm not an everyday observer of Toronto. So I can't tell you exactly why obviously van fleet's dropped some in his shooting percentages. They're very reliant on one on one basketball. They don't have a lot of shooting, you know, Trent is obviously a great shooter. And they're tiny. Overall, they're a small group. So it'll be interesting, you know, like I know there's been a lot of hand ringing over Scottie Barnes and his, you know, whether he shoots it well enough, he made a big three yesterday and late in the game. But I thought he played it like a really good game yesterday, like on the offensive glass. I think sometimes we rush to anoint and then we rush to judge amen. Players and I think sometimes you just have to wait and see. And certainly Barnes, if they're going to play him at center, at some point he's going to have to be able to, you can't play a small center that can't. Shoot the ball. So I think, you know, the Knicks and I think it was the right move. They chose to play Robinson on siakam. Anna nobi with Randall and then they put a smaller Barrett on Barnes and I thought Barnes just really like mauled him when it counted the most. So I think it was a good win for them. Long term, do they have enough? To be a serious playoff team, probably not, and I'll be interesting to see what they choose to do. Yeah, you just, first of all, having a small center who can't shoot seems like a bad idea. It seems relevant to the Brooklyn Nets. Just apropos of nothing. You just nailed it. Let me put an asterisk unless you have Kevin Durant, who so don't go to, you know, I mean, literally like he's that good. Oh my God. And claxton is a great roller. Oh, I wasn't talking to her. I wasn't talking about claxton. Oh, you're John Simmons. Yeah. Well, they have the same strengths and they have the same issues, which is free throw shooting and, you know, all that. So yeah, Kevin Durant and Irving, are they erase a lot of possible negatives? You just nailed it with the raptors. It seems now safe to declare whether they make a little bit of a run, whether they slump whatever they end up doing, they just don't seem to have the goods to go deep into the playoffs. They just don't seem like a dangerous team. I don't see signs of them becoming a truly dangerous team, like a team like, oh, I don't want to see them in the first round, boy, they would have a punch of chance in the second round. It's just not, even when they win, you don't come away feeling like that's coming down the road. There's another thing we're gonna talk about later where when they win, I do feel like that is coming down the road. And Scotty Barnes, I couldn't agree more. The last two weeks have been almost like refreshing for me because he's been really, really good in the last two, three weeks when teams have started to play him kind of like Ben Simmons and draymond green, like we're just not going to guard you and see what you do. The next to your point did not do that last night, they reverted to the way that teams at guarded sky before. I've said all year, I read and hear all this Scotty Barnes and Evan mobley like angst, like, oh my God, have they regressed, and delete has in common Evan mobley shooting. I think 18% from three and Scotty Barnes is field goal percentage is down, like maybe we were all wrong about him. I'm like, what planet am I living on that these guys who are 20 and 21 years old on good teams figuring out their roles, particularly Scotty Barnes on a team with similar players to him. It's kind of an awkward awkward balancing act for all of them. Like we're already just disappointed in these guys. And I've watched him and I'd be like, I get that he hasn't made a leap, but I still think he's kind of playing okay, like his defense hasn't been as good as I hoped, and to shooting hasn't been as good as I hope but I don't watch him and feel like, oh my God, there's a problem, and I was beginning to feel like a crazy person coach. And the last two weeks have been refreshing for you 'cause I was just never really worried about either of those two guys. I'm still not. They're both gonna be awesome. I'm like, it's all fine. Yeah, and I think when we judge, we always judge that everybody should be an all time great.

"Game before. So what I've seen, though, is I think in these close games, teams have to convince their players to stop like running the clock down too early in these fourth quarters. Like, you know, you get to 5 minutes and you watching the point guard, you know, playing more cautiously and they're starting their sets, trying to run an extra 8 seconds off. So they're getting into their first action at ten. Instead of early. And I just think Boston, they became very hesitant. If they get if they have the lead going into the fourth quarter, I think they have to, you know, encourage smart no. We're not trying to run clock. We're going to play, and I think smart actually has to find his way, you know, back into the post like he did at the end of game four, you know, where he can bully smaller defenders. Well, it's funny you say that because Chris Paul is like on the verge of an 8 second violation all the time. He's like a half a second away and it's amazing. It's like the 7 seconds or less franchise is now like 19 seconds or more. They barely get the ball over half court in 7 seconds anymore. And again, when you're playing against switching teams, right? It takes a little longer to exploit the switch than it does a drop, right? The drop is like, you can basically get a decent look off the first action against a drop. When you have a legit Hall of Famer, like, you know, Chris Paul or a great player like Dončić and Booker. But it's the traps. It's the, it's the switching to me that, you know, you need as much time on the clock as you can. And people talk about playing with pace. Zach and playing with pace is really good and it's necessary. But everybody equates that just to the full court to me, that goes to the half court as well. How quickly you get into what you're running. How hard and how forceful your cuts are. How well are you screening and setting up the screen? All those factors go into half court pace. And I think Phoenix because they rely on actions more than a lot of teams now, they have to pick up their pace in the half court. It's going to be a really fun game. I also, by the way, when I said me too about Boston, and I picked Boston to win this series. But by the rule of the basketball gods, I must pick Boston tonight because of the pick Boston to win the series. I have to pick Boston tonight. I hope we get a game 7. Coach Jeff van Gundy your inside is second to none. Thank you so much for your time. I will see you soon. All right, take care..

"I think Milwaukee's other hope is, you know, I'm curious to see this coach Boston has been an elite offensive team now too. For the last 45 games their defense has gotten all the attention justifiably. So they're like a top I think they're second and offense since January 1st. I think Milwaukee's hope in this series, one of their hopes is grant Williams Al Horford, Derek white, Marcus smart. We're going to dare you to shoot threes. And we don't believe you're shooting a percentages in the case of grant Williams and Horford of late are sustainable. We do believe you're shooting percentages in the case of Marcus smart and Derek white, are sustainable. So my question to you is like Boston around Tatum and Brown is just a social shooting team, but it doesn't seem like it because of how they move the ball and how those two stars are such great shot makers. Why is and grant Williams is shot 40% from three. That's real. Maybe that's a real thing and he's just a great shooter, no, I don't know. But how is Boston able to be so damn good offensively, which with what I think is just okay shooting around its stars and all we hear about is shooting, shooting, shooting. How are they able to be that good offensively? Well, I think Robert Williams, the lob threat, helps them, him being back. I think that the ability of like you mentioned Horford to spread the floor, not get small, see, I think they have very good overall size. So to be able to keep the size on the floor and still have enough shooting with grant Williams and Horford tice can make an occasional three, I think you're right, Derek white's going to have to shoot the ball better. You know what Milwaukee's going to do defensively and you know what Boston is going to do? I think it's a sign of a great team when you can you know exactly what they're going to do because they are so resolute in what they believe and how they're going to defend. So I think game one there'll be no surprises as far as schemes match up things like that. And I think it's going to really just come down to and going back to your offensive thing. I think Tatum his passing ability has always been there, but the consistency of his willingness to draw the second offender and create open shots. I mean, again, I hate comparison because it is truly the thief of joy, but he has right now some Dončić genome as far as that size to be able to see over defense. And that willingness to pick people apart. I think he's been, I think they're the best team left right now. And for many reasons, but a large part is because he's been so willing to be a defensive stalwart and offensive igniter. Well, he was the best player against Brooklyn in a series with Kevin Durant. If he's the best player in this series, Boston's gonna win if he's close if it's Yanis, but it's close, Boston is gonna win. By the way, coach, before I let you go I have to say, I thought I thought of you yesterday. There's a passage in Chris herrings book about the Knicks about you thinking so much about basketball that you drove into your garage door, I think where you were driving, right? Like the garage door was not open and you mind was on the game and you forgot to open it and just drove into it. Yeah, Grant Hill. People now hear him as a broadcaster and card owner and head of USA basketball and all that, right? And I think so many of your fans would have no realization that he was so dominant early in his career before injury. And so Gran hill when I was coaching the Knicks was as big a problem as anybody could be to you. He was a point forward and he could run pick and roll with any combination. They Doug Collins did a great job of surrounding him with shooting and they ran a lot of different wrinkles. So we had just played them and he had diced us up pretty good. And so we were playing them, you know, like one of those quirks and the NBA schedule where you get them a week later and so I was coming home from shoot around and you know I had like the driveway like in like a lot of people doing New York where you go uphill and then you turn into your garage. I did that. Unfortunately, I forgot to hit the garage door opener. And so Grant Hill caused me to make pay out a lot to the repairman to give us a new garage door and I'll forever be upset with him about how much he cost me. But the good part of that story is it wasn't in vain, at least we won that night. So yesterday afternoon I went on a grocery run and in my head, I've got all this stuff ruining. Three game 6 is tonight. How am I gonna juggle watching all three of those games? I got a podcast in the morning so I gotta watch them all tonight, start to finish, take my notes, I gotta start previewing sixers heat just in case and I got a column to write and I got NBA today and I get in the car and I back out of the garage now at least the garage door was open, but we have a very tight garage, very tight garage my Honda civic is like I've got a foot and a half on each side of the Honda civic. And I'm just spacing out and I back out not paying attention to the fact that the right side of the Honda civic is about to smash into the side of our garage door frame and I hear and I oh my God, I just pulled a Jeff van Gundy and I get out the right bumper is like hanging off the car. There's anti freeze dripping out of the front and I'm like this is so bad, man. I got a lot of problems. No, no, that's true. And I'll give you another one. I'm not a great driver. So my brain was in Houston to do a game. And so he had brought his wife, so we're going to go get something to eat. So he came to my house Uber to my house. And I'm chatting on backing out of my driveway. Forgot to open up the or forgot that the gate, it was open, then for some reason, I hit it, hit the button, and it was closing, and.

"If Booker is like 80% of Booker, I feel pretty comfortable with Phoenix in this series, and we can talk about why. And I've said before, I want no part of Luka Dončić in the 7 game series. That guy is a monster. It is ironic though coach that for the second straight year, the sun's are now facing a team who beat the jazz by going 5 out and it spots last year it was the clippers and the difference between the suns and the jazz against the clippers was as you just said, 8 and his ability to catch against switches, offensive rebound his hands. And I think that looms large here too if Dallas tries to go 5 out, it doesn't seem as if that would be quite a central and ingredient in this series, in part because of Paul and Booker exploiting switches, but also because ayton is just a much better offensive player with the ball in his hands, than Rudy Gobert. And also, you know, the level of perimeter defense that Dallas is about to face from Paul Booker bridges, Crowder, cam Johnson, maybe Tori Craig gets back in the rotation is to put it politely a little better than the level of perimeter defense. They just tore apart against the jazz. Well, it's true. And I think ayton has great feet too. So he can, you know, he can do defensively a lot of different things. He's just he's just a really good player. You know, irregardless of does he get paid, whatever he gets paid, you know, an extension talks. He's a really good player, and he's with a really good team for him. I agree, that's why Phoenix to me has been dominant. They've been great offensively and defensively. I do believe, though, Dončić is the hardest matchup in the NBA. I just. Literally, I love it. There's no good. If I had to say like one possession, like, to not just go get a shot, but just like there's no good way to play. You play drop. That's a terrible coverage. You try to switch most vibes don't have a great chance. And again, that doesn't mean I think they're aesthetically as pleasing as a lot of teams because he holds the ball and he's doing his thing. But I just think his combination of size and skill and the ability to make every pass, I just think the guy is just an absolutely brilliant brilliant, offensive talent. And because he has an advance in the playoffs yet until, you know, that somehow his brilliance on offense gets overshadowed by lack of playoff success. I just think I never understood that. I mean, not that it's been going on for a long time, but you did hear people say, well, why hasn't he advanced the first round? And you're over hard to win. It's hard to win. Because they played a team that was maybe the favorite to win the championship in both of the seasons and he averaged like a thousand points in a thousand assists, and I will tell you this. If you just say the name Luka Dončić, just say, do they even just say Lucca, Lucca, Lucca, two, any clippers, coach, they begin shuttering like they don't want and they don't want to see that dude ever again. Just ask anybody what the clippers how good that guy is. I will say Utah hunted him both in the regular season end in this series on defense as mercilessly as any team in the NBA. And I thought that's where the hamstring issues or whatever it is showed up a little bit offensively he was great. Defensively, he was a matador last night, and I think Phoenix is going to see that and triple down on that. I'm not sure they can take advantage of him in the same in the same ways. You know, it's not like they have a ton of blow by speed. I think Dončić, I actually think he's made a terrific improvement at that end. And I don't know if it's more protection last night. When he blocked Rudy Gobert or stripped him or Rudy Gobert lost a ball, whatever happened on that play, that that felt like that was the moment that was the moment that jazz ended, just like you could pinpoint the moment where Lisa Simpson broke Ralph wiggum's heart on The Simpsons. You probably don't know that reference. That was the moment I can pinpoint the end of the jazz. Yeah. I have no idea about The Simpsons, but I would say that when you're a great player, you can only be a great player. If you commit to defense because you know that is exactly what it takes coupled with your great offensive skill to move on and have success. And so I think commitment to defense has improved yearly with the Mavericks. And I think he knows sometimes they have some roster issues that are going to come up sometimes like you don't know when your best chance is. This could be their best chance. And so I think his commitment levels high, I think he's got guys playing well around him. Finney Smith Brunson has been absolutely outstanding. I think the Dinwiddie, like he's a wild card, like to me, he gives them size and ability to go off the dribble if he's playing well..

"And now, the low post. Welcome to the low post podcast on a Friday morning after what was the first mega night of the NBA playoffs with three high pressure elimination games, all of which sadly for us neutral fans or we neutral fans as my dad would correct my grammar. Ended with actual eliminations, the jazz are out facing an off season of major, major questions and change. The pelicans are out and the Philadelphia 76ers after so much drama after an epic meltdown slash press conference by Doc Rivers after threatening. Threatening big time weekend drama in Philadelphia dispatched the Toronto Raptors in an absolute blowout. So we only have one hope left for a game 7 in the first round and it is the wild and woolly, Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies and happened to be calling that game tonight. Someone who's gonna help us go through all these series and preview the next round, the one and only Jeff van Gundy live from Minneapolis. How are you? Doing well. Enjoying my stay in sunny Minneapolis. So you, I think, promote the image of an old school curmudgeon. Is that fair? I try not to. Okay, maybe sometimes you come across as an old school curmudgeon. I will just editorialize, okay? So I could see you saying things like, well, two points is just two points. Doesn't matter how they come. So I will ask you this. Did you did you smile, laugh, jump out of your seat, something when John morant detonated unbelievably at the end of the third quarter in game in game 5 in Memphis. Please tell me you had some sort of human reaction to this. Yeah, I mean, it was a great play. Absolutely. You know, I was able to coach like Steve Francis. So I saw a place like that. I know no one wants you to go back and ever say another guy did something, but I saw Steve Francis do crazy stuff like athletic like morant did the other night and it was a heck of a play. But he's done a lot of those. But the best part of it was the call of the jawbreaker. That to me was I laughed out loud at, I am called because it was so appropriate. I wonder, I haven't talked to I in since that game. I wonder if that was rattling around in his brain, just in the recesses of it just in case or he improv'd it. No, he had, he had that one stored up from before the games before the series started. He was just waiting. I am sure for the right time to unleash it. I got to tell you though, it's cool. It lives forever. That call lives forever now. It's a little figure of speech, but you only get one shot at those calls and breen has talked about a couple of big ones that he regrets. I mean, he's the best to ever do it. And you now lives forever, jawbreaker. Oh, I'm so good. So good. Are you this series, this has been one of the drunkest first round series of all time. Like every game features. Forget like X's and O's and occasional mistakes and breakdowns and bad shot selection by Minnesota down the stretch of game 5. That happens. Every game features like at least one 45 second segment and probably like three where it's turnover, run out, turnover, run out, guys fall over another turnover you're like, when did the basketball game start and the Keystone cops came in and started playing, are you? Are you, I think, I think you guys would be okay to actually be drinking during the game. That's how drunk the series has been. Are you looking forward to game 6? Well, I think you make a very good point. It hasn't been really well played. It's been hard fought, but not well played. John chaney used to have a saying that I really believe in. You can't play emotionally drunk. And I think both teams at times have been emotionally drunk. And that has led to, in some cases, catastrophic mistakes. And Minnesota, we were talking before, they have led a 168 minutes of the 240 plate. And 40 of 44 of those that they didn't lead were in game two. So they have basically been ahead in the other four games. The entire game, and yet they just haven't been able to finish it off. And I think most people watching the series think this should be the elimination game for them tonight versus the other way around. And that's other than pat bev, this is a pretty young team. And you know, they've had some big defensive breakdowns and big moments. Dave, I thought their offense just ground to a halt late in game 5 and they took a lot of bad shots, but I'll tell you this coach. I wonder, did you ever have set aside Jordan who nobody wants to poke the bear with Jordan? Did you ever have a series or a player who would unleash taunts early in the game against other star players or shush the crowd too early? And you would be like, can you just leave it? Can you just leave it be? We don't want to anger this team because I love so a pat bev is gonna hit you with the too little taunt. He's gonna hit ja with the two little ton every single time. Even if he misses the shot, I feel like he's gonna hit him with the two little cat is getting a lot of stuff for hushing the crowd early in the fourth quarter after a three and of course they lose. And he looks foolish. I want Minnesota to keep leaning all the way into that. I don't care that they lost the game. I don't care that they look a little foolish. I like that this is their spirit. I don't want them to lose their spirit, but did you ever have players who were like, can you just, can you not make anyone mad until the game's.

"Yeah, I've got two guests for the second week in a row. We're very generous here at SI. First, I've got the Hall of Famer Ben Wallace, former NBA champion with the pistons, of course. Ben has launched a new cannabis venture, it's called undrafted, a nod to his own career, of course, which you can learn more about at BW as in Ben Wallace, BW undrafted dot com. We discussed that new venture, as well as a bevy of NBA topics. Of course, having to include had to include defensive player of the year because Ben Wallace won four of those tied with to kimbi matumbo for the most ever. Ben Wallace actually second, I should say, in the pod because first up, I've got Stan van Gundy of TNT and NBA TV. We had a ton to discuss, of course, at this late stage in the season, we get into the sun's title hopes why he thinks that Phoenix is absolutely the favorite. How far the grizzlies can go, what the Celtics can do now without Robert Williams, how far can the nets get after their weird jagged season? Plus, Stan gives us his picks for coach of the year and defensive player of the year and lots, lots more, never any shortage of strong opinions when you have Stan van Gundy on the pod. Before we get to all that, a reminder, please rate review and subscribe to the crossover wherever you get your podcasts. If you got feedback for me, please hit me on Twitter at Howard Beck. Okay, Stan van Gundy followed by Ben Wallace all coming up next so stick around. Now very pleased to welcome Stan van Gundy Stan. How are you,.

"Big question number 6. The Memphis Grizzlies. Oh, what a cute upstart team. Okay, now they're not just cute. They're really good. They're tough they're ferocious. They talk trash in LeBron's face and annoy him. They're really good. Boy, they could win around in the play. Oh my God, 41 and 19. Two games behind the warriors for the number two seed with a much easier schedule for the rest of the season. They are 5th in offense. Think about that. 5th in offense, despite the fact that they don't shoot threes and they really can't shoot that well from it anywhere based on the numbers. 8th on defense, 5th in net rating with a decent chance to catch the warriors for number two as long as draymond green is out. So the simple question is this. We talk about this team cute, young, upstarts. Okay, ferocious really good. Jeff van Gundy, can the grizzlies just flat out win the championship? What was so interesting about their season is they started out so horrifically defensively. Then they lose morant. And they find their way. And they win without morant. And then when morant comes back, they continue to win at an unbelievable pace. And then I think Moran set out a game just recently, I think it was a road game in New Orleans. And they win that game. I mean, these guys are just really good and they've got great depth, but I don't even know who their second best who you call their second best play. Like, they have a bunch of guys that play well. Morant, clearly like this dominant player personality leader, and then they have a bunch of guys that just fit together very well. It's truly, to me, out of left field. Like how they could have started so bad. Defensively, and now be so good defensively. So a couple of things. They are two in one against the warriors so far. So they're going to win the tie break in the event that those teams are tied head to head because even if the warriors win the last game, the next tie break is get ready for this. Division winner, which is so anachronistic and stupid, but it's still a tie break in the grizzlies will win their division. The warriors, unless they catch the suns, will not win theirs. I think there are, again, 41 and 19. It's crazy how good they are. If you're skeptical of them in the playoffs, I think there are two reasons and I want to run both of them by number one, they're young and it's rare for a team to go from we've won one playoff game together against Utah last year in the first round. You can count those play in games if you want. Those are high stakes games at warriors to win the play and tournament was an awesome, awesome game. But one actual playoff game, it's very rare to see a team go from that to like, oh, we're suddenly in the finals or three three in the Conference Finals. Do you buy that rationale for some light Memphis skepticism? I mean, no, I don't buy young. Like when the team's good, they're good. And I'm a little bit more like if I was like, and I'm not skeptical on Memphis, but if I was, it's jaren Jackson junior is he going to like. Where is he at? Is he going to be a dominant second best player? Is he going to be inconsistent up and down in his offensive production? What a great draft choice? What a terrific player. You know, is he a guy who can, and I think he can get it done in a playoffs when teams are concentrating on him? What does he bring? The youth. Can they score well enough in morant's minutes off the floor in the playoffs? And where are they going to go? With the ball. I think you're hitting on it about can they score enough in the plan? First of all, jaren Jackson for his greatest season is he's having defensively 41% overall 32% on threes 48% on two. That's just not going to be good enough, particularly for this reason. I think if you are if you think the grizzlies are still not quite there, the reason would be that a lot of the reasons they are I'm not saying this is true, but I think this idea is worth looking at. A lot of the things that are driving their success are things that will not vanish, but will be more limited in the playoffs than they are in the regular season. So they're really dependent on forcing turnovers for their offense and they're really dependent on offensive rebounding. They're the number one offensive rebounding team in the league. And you could make the argument that, well, they're going to face better opposition. The game is going to slow down. At the very least, the opponent turnovers that are fueling all these Harlem globetrotters, fast breaks that they're getting every game. They're the greatest show John Moran is the greatest show in the NBA right now by himself. A lot of that stuff will come down. Teams will be more prepared for their offensive rebounding. Maybe they will maybe they want Steven Adams is just a monster offensive rebounder. And then their lack of outside shooting. They've made them how their 5th on offense and they're not, again, shooting well, even their floaters. They're like the floater kings of the NBA. They're like 15th and field goal percentage from floater range. That offense that's 5th, I think in the playoffs, it will be very interesting to see how it performs. That's the sort of all the stuff that they're excellent at in the regular season. If they're merely pretty good at that in the playoffs, I think they take a big hit. Well, I think that is the question. I think, you know, offensive things change in the playoffs. It's not the exact same game. But I do think offensive rebounding can hold up. Now, it's always the tradeoff between staying big and keeping, you know, more size on the floor, more rebounding than limited perimeter shooting or do you add more shooting in the playoffs and take off an offensive rebound. I think those choices are often challenging. And there's a give and take. You can't, you can't try to be everything. And so it'll be interesting what Taylor Jenkins, who, by the way, like when you.

"What do you think very quickly of these LeBron at center lineups that Vogel and now fizdale with coach logo, hopefully we're covering well in health and safety protocols have turned to in the absence of Anthony Davis. Obviously when AD's back, these are going to be a limited part of the rotation, but probably part of it considering Dwight and DJ have done next to nothing this year. Are they viable to you? If they get enough of the supporting guys back, they're fine. I mean, they're fine. I mean, they used it against Houston. I mean, Houston's awful. They'd be Houston by a couple down the stretch. Thank you for saying that because the coverage of that game, we were guilty of it too, was like, stroke of genius, fizdale and et cetera. I'm like, how about the headlines should be barely beat a team that stinks? Didn't they have four guys score 20 or more? I don't know. Yeah. So it's not like I didn't understand what everybody was raving about. They beat Houston on the road. Hey, listen, when you've lost 5 in a row, any wins a good one. I'm not knocking down. I'm not even the move is fine. But the idea that they unlocked something, I didn't understand because they had played with Carmelo Anthony and James before. Like, this isn't like exactly revolutionary. Like, they're trying to get a win, you know, coaching is nothing more than trying to give yourself your best chance to win. And against some lineups or in some teams, it makes sense, but it still comes back to who are the other four guys around James. I can put James anywhere. James, is the type of guy he can everybody knows us. He can play anywhere. So it's who do I surround him with? Do I have enough? Because he'll bring out the best and most guys, you know? And I think what's scary to me is, is this the best of 8 that he can bring out of them? Like, it's just their best and it just keeps coming back to me to Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis is their chance. Like he comes back off of this injury and they're in whatever place they're in. And he's able to have recharged refocused reenergized and plays at a top ten level in the NBA. If he can do that, then they're really dangerous. LeBron had center, they are plus three in a 116 minutes. And you saw last night to your point, those lineups are either so bad on defense that they just have no hope. Like if Carmelo Anthony and Malik monk and Russell Westbrook are out there, you're just, you're just praying. That's all you're doing. That's just prayer, that's basketball prayer. I pray we hit enough threes and they miss enough dunks and threes because they're gonna hunt mellow every single possession. It was interesting to see morant hunt Russ late in the game last night. And then they went defense and they were to have Stanley Johnson and THT out their Stanley Johnson just already like top 5 most essential Laker all of a sudden. And the grizzlies said, okay, well, those guys can't shoot. We're gonna play our big guys just like normal and we're gonna bet that our size is you don't have the speed and shooting to punish us for playing big versus small and they generally won that bet. The I guess the non big lineups, no AD no center without LeBron. So I guess melos at center Russ is the key to those, are -27 and 44 minutes. You can throw those ones in the trash as soon as AD comes back. And just to finish your point on Lakers coverage, I really enjoyed how the headline after Christmas was LeBron overtakes Kobe as all time leading scorer on Christmas as if anyone cares who the all time leading score on Christmas is. And they lost the game. How about you lost at home to the nets? Then that's had one of their three guys and you still lost but LeBron passed Kobe as the all time leading score on Christmas. So all was well. Are you ready for question number two? Yep. Is it time for the Boston Celtics at 16 to 19, tenth in the west coming off a game without Jayson Tatum and some other others in health and safety protocols in which they lost at home to the clippers who are missing lots and lots of people arguably there are three best players and four of their top 5 and shot four of 42 from three four of 42. One of the three was made by Sam Hauser who, or Hauser, I'm sorry, who would not be playing normally. Is it time for the Celtics to explore breaking up jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum? Well, all those possible trade ideas or thoughts. It's all dependent on who you can get. So it's not about, should we break them up? It's about, can we have can we construct a better team through a possible trade, right? And I don't think anybody in this league minus maybe jokic and Giannis, who else, curry, Durant, Durant is untreatable, right? So the idea that Tatum or Brown would get traded, that doesn't, that might happen. But it's funny, it's funny you bring up jokic and I apologize for updating it because this is what this is like how screwed up my brain is. Last night, as I couldn't fall asleep, my brain went to this place..

"Careful of, right? Yeah. But also you didn't get three or four pieces of candy back then. There were no big chocolate bars. It was like, you got whatever was left over from the last Halloween. And it was always small. And yeah, I mean, that's just how it was just different. But thank goodness. There was never a Jeff and Stan, you know, cowboy and Robert type of coordinator. I'm thinking like I'm thinking like red holds men and you know, Bill Bradley or something like that. You know what's crazy? We grew up on the West Coast, right? Right outside of Oakland. And Martinez, California. So we were big, you know, warrior fans a's fans. Back in the heyday. But here's it's just so different now because everything's a picture now, right? It is. And I love watching. I'm like, you know, I'll see pictures of like, but there were no pictures back then. So you were dressing up just for not even because you enjoyed it. You just knew you had to have it to go out and people giving you candy. It was a straight, you know, I want candy. I have to dress up here. Let's do it. Quid pro quo. We all understand what's going on. Last thing, and you can take it if you want. Otherwise, I'll let you go. I'm not a big baseball fan anymore, but I've been having the World Series on in the background when I don't feel like watching NBA games. I will give it to you. Convinced me neutral ish baseball fan. Who hasn't really paid attention and only knows like the very broadest strokes of whatever is going on. Why I should not be cheering against the Astros as garbage can slamming cheaters. Jeff van Gundy defend your team. Well, first of all, I can't defend what they did. Like, I don't even want to. It was disgraceful. And unnecessary because they were great before they did it and they've been great after they've done it. They didn't need it. So that was a terrible lapse in judgment. But that being said, I am still wearing my great T-shirt that says y'all still mad. Like for those whiny Dodger fans complaining about the the championship with that was stolen from him. No it wasn't. We beat your ass, okay? That's that. Okay. Now, can they beat Atlanta? I don't know. Down three two, you know, Verlander out the whole year. You know, mccullers out now. We don't have our top two starters. But I'll say this. Regardless of who wins, we either have a 72 year old manager who I love and dusty baker, getting his first World Series win or a man who manages the braves with who's been in that same organization for 45 years. Now, we may be cheaters, but I got to say this. Until I hear somebody come out and say that that stupid job that they do in a position of power needs to be eliminated as fast as the take vow that we were talking about, then I say the Astros have the advantage and they're going to figure out a way to win it. Dusty baker and the guys, man, it's going to be fun to watch game 6. Jeff van Gundy, nobody does it better than you. Thanks for.

"Take place in the first four or 5 seconds too. It's a byproduct. It's another reason to institute. So the thing I don't like that any time I talk to somebody in the league, well, we got to study it more. Actually no you don't. You need to act. And then tinker with it. It's not going to be perfect, but it doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be stuff in the right direction. This isn't like viral research in a chemistry lab where we're doing trial and error studies on this. Just make just I'm done. Just change the rule. Let's conclude. I'm so disappointed. Are you telling me going back to the beginning, there was never a coordinated Jeff and Stan van Gundy Halloween costume when you were kids? There was never like he was whoever and you were whoever never not once. I hate to think there was, I would call that I'd be very disappointed in my parents if there were. But remember back then, though, that's in the 60s. Not everything had to be. It wasn't had to be take a picture so you could show your Friends that you parent better than they do, right? So it's just, you know, first of all, your parents didn't even go out with your trick or treating. When you were 5, they sent you out. That's it. 5 years old, you're on your own. Come back when you're done. Yeah, come back. And that's when the only thing that my mom checked for was razor blades in the apples. Like if you remember, like, I don't know if that was like I was a kid. That was like an urban legend. That's a thing that happened. Now I need to go research like the origin of who would do such a thing. Why was it, why was it a problem? Oh my God. Society. Brian windhorst types back in the 60s who hated Halloween so much. Would do that. Those are the people you had to.

"It plays to their strength like how strong they are. Like, a little bit more is let go. Like, you can't like, you know, I think with Lowry butler, PJ Tucker, and out of bio, I think it's been I think everything has fallen into line. And again, can they sustain? Can they stay healthy? But you're right. If you're a listen, if your top ten in offense with what they should be defensively, they got a heck of a chance. To play from a high seed this year. I will see the floor to you now. You brought up officiating, you and I have been. You're the driver of the eliminate the take foul the Euro fell, whatever garbage you want to call that fell. The clothesline bear hug in transition. You've been driving the bandwagon. I've been riding shotgun with you for 5 to ten years now to the point that I'm tired of talking about it. It's just unfathomable to me that the league even having created a rule in the G league, like the NBA owns the G league and they made a rule to try and stop this that they have not tried harder to stop it in the NBA. It drives me a bananas. I feel like it's just falling on deaf ears. They clearly don't care enough to do anything about it. You now, you've complained about it a lot, you're absolutely right, the world agrees with you. Basketball is good, bear hugs are bad. But now you have a specific proposal that you want to put forth to the world. Please Jeff van Gundy speak on it. So what I hate is that it's called the eurofoil because it's not, because they've eliminated in Europe. Fema basketball, it's two in the ball, right? So I watched John Moran against Golden State the other night. And draymond green basically tackled it at half court. And everybody wants more action. And there's never more action in an NBA game than in transition. So we should all be putting our heads together to try to give our players the best chance to create action. Like I said, the NBA, the way they've like, they've eliminated all the BS foul calls. I couldn't be happier. I think it's a better game. It's a better product to watch. But they can't stop now. They have to address this. I watched at Boston. I think it was Boston Charlotte game. And there were 6 called in a relatively take vowels in a relatively short period of time. Sometimes teams will even take them in the penalty. Like they'll just because players instinctively just do it. So my rule is you have a separate penalty situation. But it could be, you can set the number. It could be the first time you do it. The second time, the third time, whatever you decide, number wise, it's fair. But if a foul occurs with 20 or more on the shot clock, that leads to two in the ball eventually. Whatever you set the number. After the second time you do it or the third time. Or the first time I don't care, you could do it all the time. But obviously you don't want that in the last two minutes of the game because when you're coming back on a rebound, you know, you're going to foul right away to save time. So in the first 46 minutes, you have that. I think it's imperative. You do it not by if you're in transition or not. You do it because fouling should be punished. Fouling is not something that should be applauded. How about this? Run back and stop him in transition. You watch these fouls. It used to be a minor problem that used to just drive me crazy. Now it's taking away action from our fans. And as much credit as the NBA deserves right now for the new filing interpretations that they've put in that are being universally praised except if you're one of those guys who used to make a mockery of the game, they need to be held to account. I don't know what the rule is in the G league, but just make a first step. It doesn't have to be perfect. All we have to do is everybody acknowledge we are going to eliminate. I have no problem too with leaving it up to the referee's discretion. If you don't like mine, that's their job. That's what they should have discretion. They'll say that we want to take decision making out of the referee's hands. And that to me is ludicrous because that's like saying, I want to take decision making out of a point guard's hand. These guys are paid a lot of money. You know when a foul is a take Val, even if it's disguised, like it's got to be punished and punished harshly. And I think the radical step of doing it immediately. The competition committee should meet tonight. Institute it put it in tomorrow. Will there be growing pains? Yes. Who cares? Do it now. Don't wait. You don't have to study it anymore. It's an absolute like, I don't know what the right word is, but it's a such a negative mockery, a sham mockery. You have to combine two words. It's that good. I'm going with that dead. I just think and also the secondary thing which you don't see as much anymore, but the hacker whoever foul, if you institute something like that, because those always.

But tell me about you know how. How do you think he fits. Lebron how what are you looking for him. How does he have to changes game or does he have to change his game. Well listen. I think i think both have to modify to some degree. Lebron can't be as ball dominant as as he has been off making all the decisions. Because that's one of the reasons rusting wanna be in houston anymore as you. Well know Because he didn't want to be you know sitting on the sidelines. Playing the role of spectator being on the plane and roller spectator watching james audit. Well that's not gonna change lebron james. He's happy to be back home. He's happy to be la. He's happy to be on a title contender which he is on. We get all of that But in the end he still russell westbrook in you know credit to him. You know like. I told you we've had to be. We've all had to be critical of him at times. What we know that. He's an electrifying talent. The most athletic point guard we've ever seen in nba history. We know he's a walk in triple double and we also know. He never cheat to game with his effort when he's out on a court it's always one hundred percent and so when you look at the slow. Almost snail like pace that the lakers could could. Could you know what wouldn't prone to plan towards playing at at tom's in the past and now you've got somebody like russell westbrook all of a sudden and lebron having a night off. Ad having a night off isn't as daunting as it was the previous two years. I think that helps them during the regular season. And then i think once the postseason comes whatever it takes to win is what i think the character in russell westbrook and lebron james will do.

You just joined a conference with the slogan. It just means more. Apparently it doesn't in your state. Yeah you gotta imagine that at some point really soon. That's going to change. Because the main if especially if quinn is able to go ahead and do this or decides to go ahead and do this And he's already travis..

"On ziprecruiter dot com today and put ziprecruiter to work for you. Travis there's a lot done pack. And i know everybody involved in college football all the fans certainly the fans impacted by the decision are trying to figure out what's next even those who are not directly impacted by the decision like yourself wonder okay. What does this mean for my school and my schools conference. Are we going to add teams to the big ten. What's going to happen with the pac twelve or the big ten in the pack. Twelve gonna become a super conference. Everybody's just throwing goose pu against the wall right now trying to figure out the scenarios that make the most sense and i felt like coach gundy so i didn't know how he was going to react. I didn't know if he was going to be angry. I didn't know if he was going to miffed. I didn't know. I mean. I didn't know what to expect because let me tell you about that man. You heard him say it right there. I like to know where you stand. I want you to know where i stand. And that's one thing. I've always admired about him. I had never met him until. I walked in the building the other day and to add to it. Everyone's still processing us because it's up for most people. It's happened so fast that people are still trying to figure out everything that's going involved and then trying to talk about it and it's it's not an easy thing to just have an answer for there and look and in a lot of cases there are no answers yet. There are no answers yet because we just don't know and you know the whole so it's funny to me. We brought up on mardi mcgee. The other day coach saving told us at at media days the unintended consequences portion of all of this. Whether it's in iowa whether it's portal a playoff expansion might end up at seventeen games. It's the most transitionary time in the history of the sport and so i felt like coach gandhi. He was very honest but very measured because like everybody else. He surprised that this unfold. You heard him say at there okay. But he does feel good specifically to oklahoma state. I think it applies to like the ohio states the notre dame's etcetera if you have a track record of success sustained winning seasons that type of thing and certainly tremendous financial backing from donor ship. Then you're probably going to. You're going to be in a pretty good spot. Two things really were revelatory to me number one. That coach gandhi said he believes the goal of the league is to stay intact until twenty four. I and he believes that's going to happen now. Is there gonna be a power for he said. Hey in my opinion vows in behind closed doors. I'd say that's a probability now. The other part. That really intrigued me was the money. The big twelve Money that comes in from the big twelve network and and whatnot. Espn plus and then the money. That's generated from n. Stadium revenue and all of those things to me hearing the numbers. Come out of his mouth made me go okay. It's very interesting but the bottom line is to me. I just don't think anybody knows what this means yet. Other than the southeastern conference has added to absolute monster brands in the world of collegiate football collegiate athletics to their resume to their to their a list of attributes. I don't know man The sec lot stronger. I think is what i think travis. The one good thing for gundy end. The oklahoma state program is while they are not oklahoma. They are a good enough program that they can make conference better. And so they will they will they will be. They will be valued program to go after and then because of their location they they can go anywhere. I mean if i'm the big ten. I'm going after them in iowa state like yesterday. I'm going after them if i was the acc. I might have said this on here last week. I think i did. If i was the acc. I'd be going after. Oklahoma state west virginia and notre dame. And it's just going to be it's going to be fascinating to see how all of this unfolds. What we don't know yet is what if some other university.

"Hey y'all welcome to the maurice. Miss america podcast volume one hundred something ancient on towards two hundred. I had an interesting week last week. I went down to stillwater oklahoma and the reason that i went to stillwater. Oklahoma was because cage. Cunningham became the first oklahoma state cowboy in the history of the men's basketball program to be drafted number one overall in the nba draft by the detroit pistons. In fact he's just the second athlete in the history of the osu athletic program to go number one. A guy named bob anymore when number one in the nfl draft in nineteen forty seven. Wire you pointing at me. Did i already screw something up. Let's refer to it as the oklahoma state program. Os what's just get that. So let me tell you guys about. Osu okay. I've never been there travis. Odd never been down stillwater. You know. i've been blessed to. We've been all over the country to amazing universities and campuses. But i had never been to. I've been to norman ton you've been to their best friends place because of Covering baker mayfield cuyler murray jalen hurts everything. Lincoln riley has built down there in. Norman never been to stillwater hell. I didn't even know where it was. I mean i had to look at the map figure out which airport i should fly into so a fly into o'casey on the evening of the twenty eight stayed in okay see And as we began the process of putting together how we were going to cover the draft party at eskimo joe's and you guys haven't been there and you're going to stillwater. Make sure you go by there stan. Everybody involved at that. It's iconic it's one of those campus halts that is iconic to that university. It is awesome there. Are they known for like some cheese fries or something. They claim the world's greatest cheese fries. And i will tell you did not disappoint. I ate them on. Live national television Right before the nba draft began on abc. Now let me back up a minute so as my producer. Melinda adams and i are preparing for this party. They were thrown a party for the basketball team so they could watch their brother be drafted and and do so together. Enjoy a nice evening out. have some most cheese fries and watch cade go number one now obviously the big story in all of sport and i say that again like it's the it's the middle of the olympics and in our world in our zip code. The biggest story in sports is that now. Oklahoma and texas are officially headed to the sec. They are going to join the southeastern conference. And so i thought okay. Well wait a minute. Oklahoma state is in the big twelve. They are directly impacted by the decision of oklahoma and texas to leave the big twelve conference in head of the sec. What's that mean. And who are the most outspoken people in that conference will oklahoma state head coach. Mike gundy just happens to be one of those people again. I'd never met coach gundy. I got hooked up with coach. Gundy bama amazing mentor gordon whitener. Who is he coached at oklahoma state. Back in the day he is. He's a legit like american cowboy. He's the marlboro man. Gordon is so gordon. Hook me up with gundy gundy's all in we go down there. I drive over from oklahoma city. The morning of the twenty ninth and Right around just past dawn. And i'm driving down the highway on thinking about okay. What am i gonna ask. This guy house is going to go. And i'm gonna tell some travis and by the way guys will I did a thirteen or so minute interview with coach. Gundy ask coach gonna his perspective on everything that happened. What it means for the big twelve. What it means for oklahoma state and the fact is we just don't know those answers yet we just don't and so y'all hear that in a minute but before we get to the interview. I just want to say that. I walked into the football facility. So i got to boone. Pick and stadium and melinda and the communication staff from oklahoma state. Were waiting on me. Because i got lost. Of course. I was at the wrong end of the stadium. You're supposed to go. The west end of the stadium was east. Is there anything more confusing than going to a new college campus and trying to get around the facility. It's kind of confusing But i mean look at say is confusing but the west end of the stadium is like i mean. There's all these flags flying this gorgeous entrance. And i was on the other side of field oscillating so we go inside walk into the lobby and were standing in the football lobby there and just just hanging out and i mean it is they have this As as you know. Travis these days you walk into the lobbies of power five football facilities and it's not like a random board room looking experience like a museum. It's a museum and boys. Oklahoma state a museum. There are all of the the awards. Go all the way down the hallway. There's there's just like gory graphics. Everywhere there's led boards everywhere play and highlights stay mannequins with like all the different uniforms. They wear cleats all the bowl trophies. Yeah all the different the a ride the vast array of uniform combinations right and over in the corner as you as you walk into your left around the corner is barry sanders heisman. Trophy and i geek out. I mean on nerd out on having the opportunity to see the heisman trophy. Same thing at notre dame. When i go there you go to. Usc it's like a whole lana of them. So so i go over there. And i'm like studying berries heisman and then i come. I'm kind of walking back and coach gundy walks out of his office says hello. He's like crap dude. You're dressed for church. He's got on a polo pair jeans. Of course. I had were suit because espn travis. That man took me in introduced me to his assistant his admin who is a wonderfully lovely lady who he goes. This is the. Gm don't get it twisted. She runs a whole program and then he he. He took me in his office and then he grabbed me and we will do he toward me around. The entire facility introduced me to coach glass the strength and conditioning guru there who knows a bunch of my friends and we i mean. We sat there and a weight room Gorgeous weight room for probably twenty or twenty five minutes solving all the problems in college football. Were you just wishing that you had some Jim closer you get a few reps reps in their at their facility. Thought about book shirts. A little tight so it might have popped a button or to. You can't be working out in your suits because those are those are too tight for you to be doing any sort of physical activity. That i ever tell you the brent venables story from nows all by myself okay. So are its tangent. Time ladies and gentlemen several years ago. When i was two thousand sixteen. I'm not sure the year but it was. When lamar jackson and the louisville cardinals came to Clemson to play deshaun watson and the clemson tigers and it was one of the greatest football games i've ever seen and we went there and in the morning we're doing all the live shots for sportscenter for college game day for this network and that network and afterwards we had a whole day to do basically nothing because the game didn't kick off. It was the abc night game. I mean i think it was a eight. Pm kickoff for something you got plenty of time so my goal was now that i'm hopped up on coffee after college game day. I'm going to give a workout in right now. So change clothes get outta my suit. Get into some shorts and a tee shirt in the clemson white room. That's one thing that's so cool. Is that they just allow us to go in an air pump. Our get are running on a treadmill. You know it's a it's a national championship level facility. And so we're in there doing thing. I am underneath the bar. And i have. I don't know like hundred seventy five pounds on air. Maybe one hundred eighty five pounds. And i'm laying there and i'm like getting myself ready. You know heavy breathing all the sudden. I almost have my eyes closed. I'm like gardner. Snuck yourself you ready ball. And i look up and like brent venables lathered up yelling at me. Make sure i'm ready to go. Kickoff kickoff is like eight hours away and that dude is full ladder. Ready to go. I love that stuff he is. He's one of those coaches that you just feel like main lines red bull. That man cannot like. I love it. He can't it he doesn't turn it off like it's it's something about the defensive coaches because for high state kerry combs like seventy years old or something doesn't he's always the most energized person on the field. It's at something about those defensive coaches. they're like a few fries short of a happy meal and they're just like kodjo bro. I don't know how they do it..

NBA Rumors: Pelicans Plan to Hire Former Sixer Willie Green as Head Coach
"Head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. So David Griffin has his next man to lead Zion Williamson. Last year. It was Stan Van Gundy the year before that it was Alvin Gentry. It's just now going to be the third head coach that Zion Williamson is going to have his third year in the league. Now, when you look at Willie Green Clearly has an extensive basketball background was in Philly, the Hornets in New Orleans. Atlanta. Play with the Clippers was with Orlando as a player the last few years, though, because just because you're a former player doesn't mean that you're going to be a great coach. You want to see what experience? Yes. Sometimes guys have a lot of experience. Sometimes guys have no experience. Willie Green was on the Golden State Warriors staff 2016 2019. And Is on the sun staff, too. Currently So this is someone That has been around the league now for a while. And Yeah. I don't know how

Ball brothers Lonzo, LaMelo set to square off in NBA matchup
"We're talking about lonzo in the last segment. A little bit and brandon ingram coups mud cetera. But the whole point was that lamelo alonzo are playing. And you don't have a lot of brothers playing against each other. We know the wilkins brothers Played against each other. Obviously the soul brothers have played against each other so this is just another installation of that particular kind of cool fund rivalry that the nba tends to have but we you know we talked a lot about lonzo. What do you think of the mellows. Ceiling is wow. That's a great question Ever since i first saw him like what was it like three years ago now watching plane. Aau it was obvious he was really talented offensive player. So i would say. His silly is attached to his defense. Okay you know. The more he improved bronco on defense to hire his silly goes because even though i think he's a really talented offensive. Play at the reality is. There's not a whole lot of dudes who play his position in the back court. That can't get you them buckets. Right what else you got. And we're waiting to see him. Show us the other aspects of it tastes him from being a talented young player to someone who may be able to lead a team to a french tour championship. So at this point It's a wait and see i need to. I need to spend a liberal time playing ball getting better getting stronger. Before i can tell you where i think is ceiling is going to go because i need to see how strong and how defensive he's going to become yet. Defensively is a big problem. I think big problem right now but it's a big problem for young players especially rookies week or so. You know. it's time for all of them. So i'm not going to hold them to this. But after two seasons if dudes are still blown by him because he's too busy trying to leak out get buckets. Then we know what that is. Yeah look here's ofensive skill set. His passing is ridiculous. Like we already know that that very early on do you think. He has a higher ceiling than lonzo though no not inherently so right well of course. There's always a good defender. There's no question about really answer. Really good rebounder right. And he's equally as good as a passer. So you're asking yourself. We'll lonzo's offense developed faster than lamelo defense. Because that's gap right. There will lonzo's offense develop than I would say lonzo's offenses rounding to form much much better. These last eight months or whatever lamelo defense defense takes a while i feel like guy sometimes go years before they learn to play real. Good defense is that fair or it depends on the coach that should never have conversations with Jj radic over the years and bright before he was drafted. He and i were joking. I was like dude. I love you to be in phoenix. House wins nash. And amari and those guys were rolling. Sounds like do you just be straight buckets. Any overstaying strengthen gundy and you needed to lay defense to play. I needed to pay exactly to play defense for stand right and it was because of that. He's still in the league. I don't know if he was still being the league. If it wasn't for stan forced him to know how to play good defense and he did. He became a very capable defender Even though he's small right even though he you know he he's he's not he's strong for size but he's not like some overwhelming You know person when it comes to his strength but he's really smart. He plays the angles while he plays team defense. Because you're you're right. You're right

LEVEL UP: This Life Coach Says Now's the Time to Level Up
"Thought work an action and breaking through limiting beliefs. When in your own life have you leveled up the biggest level up from he was having twins that will the big level. That's what taught me. Oh i can do anything if i can do this. I had my first daughter. My husband had been married for five years and then we tried to have a second child. And i was over thirty five. And we ended up using some fertility treatments. We didn't earn nation. Which is just an and i ended up pregnant with twins and it was shocking. Even though when you're doing facility treatments that's a possibility but it was still shocking because surviving with them right bringing them home and and at this point i also had a business which felt like another baby. I was already running my coaching practice. And i have like seven clients. I was working with. And i was doing contract work. Having to put all that on hold for a while just to kind of survive and keep them thriving and get get a lot of help and shift my mindset. I really had to expand into this next level of growth in order to see my life in any way because now we went from a family of three to a family by one of the things. That really helped me. I completely changed my relationship with time. All of a sudden the value of something like fifteen minutes was so high for me. It was worth so much to get fifteen minutes to take a shower. Was like so valuable for me so that was one of the first things that changes. I started to look at time from this new perspective of. Oh how every minute of my life is so valuable because either. I'm taking care of a kid or i've got to be producing results in my business or in work so that was one experience of leveling up. Another one is really taking my business to the next level. I said okay. I'm gonna make six figures. I'm gonna make six figures and more and it was just a decision i made in my mind of. I'm done playing small in this world of coaching. I know i can do better. And now i have a family three you know and we had bought a new house so this was the time to kind of say. I need to play a bigger game. The universe is calling me up for big game. And that's how sometimes it feels. It doesn't always come just from you. It comes from like the universe telling you like a little whispered then keeps coming up over and over again. You're met for something more meant to play a bigger game. You're meant to do more and win. That voice was in my ear. I was like you know what i am meant to do. More and i'm going to grow this business. And i'm going to take it to the next level and so i left some of my contract work. So i consciously made a decision to shift and consciously made a decision to focus my attention and really grow into. You know the six figure coach than i am. Now you all know. I did not grow up speaking spanish. My husband did and it's really important to us that our girls have exposure to the language when i interviewed susie had a meal. The creator of gundy. The NBA Show
How Will Stan Van Gundy Fit With the Pelicans?
"Was a few weeks ago in the ringer NBA show that at the very tail end of the show I recall you saying. Keep an eye out for Stan van Gundy and New Orleans and since we last spoke That came to fruition Stan Van Gundy was hired by David Griffin and the New Orleans Pelicans I think when this all started with the pelicans ouster of Alvin gentry. Through the. Face Tyler had a former relationship with David. Griffin, we talk about my Tony possibly because he had a former relationship via the Phoenix Suns with David Griffin but they do land on Stan van, Gundy as their next head coach when you saw that news come across the wire, would you think great I'm happy I think he could bring some accountability to the team in terms of how much they need it on the defensive end of the floor they were horrific. On defense this season in San Andy. Of course, infamously famously I'm not sure once said build an effing wall and that the Pelicans need to do and I look forward to see what he can do now that he's back in the NBA but by the way like he failed in Detroit because he was coach. Angie 'em now he's just a coach right and he was always a good coach. He was good basketball coach and it was one of those cautionary tales of. It is two different skill sets number one it also in many cases can be two different motivations right if I am if I am the general manager and the coach now let's say I make a poor signing or a poor usage of money will sometimes I may want to use that guy to prove that I was right about this guy right and I know that you Still get into that with with a front offices and coaches anyway, right in in everybody wants to be responsible everybody wants to be right about the move they made. But when you then you're not doing the scouting of every other team on a regular basis, I know you have scouts you're certainly not doing that with college, but it's just a very hard job to do twofold and. Another cautionary tale of taking that over I mean everybody wants that power but I think we've seen two of these guys. Now fact three of these guys. Now, all of which I think you would say were subpar to very below average in that role but. We respect them as guys that are on the sidelines as basketball coaches. That is their expertise in that is doc rivers who took on that role Tom Thibodeau who took on that role and Stan Van Gundy who took on that role and yet got hired as coaches though it didn't go well at their last stops. I mean doc better than the other two but we thought. Hires because these guys are good basketball coaches who were miscast trying to run everything for sure absolutely and ultimately it's another good opportunity for him when New Orleans area there even though they have Zion, they have ingram granted these a restricted free agent. He'll likely back matched any offer sheet or whatever This is still sort of A. Team right now that can go in many different directions depending on how David Griffin wants to build it out and I look forward to seeing the ways in which Van Gundy, Utilize Zion and the ways in which he tries to get him going off because remember you know before all the three point shooting, we've seen the last ten years or so that has. Exploded with the warriors and the rockets and all these teams shooting lot of threes, the magic, Dwight Howard at center and four shooters around him in the late two thousands with anti head coach and they went to a finals. We're going to be lost to Kobe and the Lakers The had some good run they some really strong teams and in with Williamson. With the New Orleans Pelicans, I know they want to add another they don't want to go like all small Wall. With Zion at the five all the time it's it's just went to work but I, think van Gundy's pasts and what he could do now with this roster, it's kind of exciting to think about the possibilities with the different ways in which they can use ion but most importantly though and again, this is like with all the coaching hires we talk about I am more interested in the personnel changes who they draft, who do they try to trade for? Who Do they try to sign I am WHO's coaching the team, but you know I'm excited to see if they're able to get. Zion, going and creative ways that they weren't able to do as much during the season despite his success he posted up a lot man I. WanNa see some more pick and roll with Zion I wanNA see some more creativity with him, handling the ball and running pick and roll, and that will largely come from other personnel changes that come to the roster that allow that to happen. But Hey, man SVG had success with some different types of teams in the past and I look forward to seeing what he can do here with him, and that team has a good roster they under performed badly. Made sometimes teams underperformed because you look at their roster and you go man aol have the goods like that team underperformed I. Think so too. I think of course it I mean look I mean Lonzo I think Lonzo hit one shot in the bubble well, even though they're young that defense was bad even though they had good individual defenders, they've jrue holiday one of the best perimeter guard defenders, Ingraham and Lonzo. They were good defenders of the Lakers. They were the last two years. They were good. They were not good defenders last season with New Orleans. And Zion I, mean he was horrific. He was so bad on defense. It was it was really sad to watch. This is the guy who is blocking three point shots closing out from the opposite side of the paint at Duke just a year prior, which is why people wonder how much of it was fatigue coming back but season how much of it was the injury limiting him how much of it was effort I? Don't know I don't know what it was but regardless. He stunk on defense, and all of this needs to change next season for this team to be anything that have any chance of actually getting into the playoffs it can't be all

Dual Threat with Ryen Russillo
Mark Jackson is the reason why Mark Jackson isn’t an NBA head coach
"Joe. Lake. Up after mark was let go had a bunch of quotes This was one of them that I found co part of it was that he couldn't get along with anybody else in the organization and look you did a great job. I'll always compliment him mini respects but you. Can't have two hundred people in the organization, not like you. Okay. and he said when I say the organizations whole I don't just mean the team just fifteen players that are involved in the coaching staff I mean everybody there's two hundred employees here. So we look at the organization going forward and the kind of coach we want and not just the performance everything else all these factors matter. We took all of that into account. So we have the player part of it. We have the owner part of it. We knew the front office didn't like him when one of the assistance. was busted for recording Jackson in meetings to play for the front office, which again that actually becomes a pro mark Jackson part of it. The Mark Jackson staff was not good enough the ownership in front office told him repeatedly, the staff is good. Enough Mark said we have the best staff going he and scalping apparently got into it and scalloping he was reassigned the front office didn't like that part of it. So we have the players have the staff we have the ownership we have the front office. Let's also talk about some of the other stuff that's just let's face it. Weird Jackson's Amana Faith I. Don't question anyone's faith. I just say to you leave me alone and I'll do my thing That's the way I've always operated and that rubs people wrong way when he was a head coach but also would find time to get to La whenever he had a convenient off day to go and do that. It's tough to tell a man of faith. Hey, you know what don't be that interested in God? That's that's an almost impossible conversation but if I was at ESPN or anywhere and said, Hey, you know what? I can't watch football this weekend. Because I have this higher calling eventually it worked they'd be like, Hey, you know what? Man Like this is all part of the job being availalbe around is very difficult in tough thing to navigate as I'm not even hundred percent comfortable doing it but I'd have to say employer at the time being frustrated by it actually makes a little bit of sense and I think there's other things that just bumped people out when curry had his ankle issues he was brought up in it was kind of a playful thing curry's brought up they put the holy oil on his ankle and. Jackson's wife at the time and Pete Jackson was like look like he had chronic ankle problems and now he doesn't. So you figure it out. That's one of those things where people like wait what Jackson also had some issues off the core where he was caught up extortion deal and I'm not even really getting on his case for that because I think a lot of things happen to people that are public figures that goes on normal people's lives. But the public figure becomes the of jokes on and on and on. He also said when asked about Jason Collins availability years ago. He said not in my locker room. So it came off as if he was a homophobe because there's evidence that he is, and then when he was asked to clear that up, he said look I know Jas I know his family and I'm praying for them right now. Hey, man you save your fucking prayers. Okay. That's the kind of stuff that just doesn't play no matter who you are and I think the. Most important part of all of this because I guess I'm still maybe a little surprised that he doesn't have a job because other people have been on TV and not been great on. TV. I've looked at other coaches that haven't had great runs and there's been plenty of people that have gotten second chances by the way both black and white. So when I see people out raged that he's been blackballed or as. Shannon Sharpe said White Bald or Kendrick Perkins recently, just saying like all of these things that I just going off on the idea that Mark Jackson doesn't have job it really feels like, okay. Are you informed and but yet you've made up your mind decided not to change your mind or are you uninformed and I think so many people screaming about this or like Oh wait that's right. You know maybe either moments you had just now listening to this like Oh, that's right. I've nothing personal against Mark Jackson. He's one of my favorite college basketball players of all time all-time. You guys know how huge of a Saint John's Fan I am and I actually was you know as a little kid be like dude I can't believe he's going this late in the draft is GonNa be awesome and he was awesome in the knicks I felt so vindicated I was. Like and I could refer team right one day I love Mark Jackson and I was right. But when I listened to him on the broadcast Van Gundy I, think him being on the broadcast Van Gundy chances of getting a job because if I was worth a half a billion dollars or more and had the opportunity to own a team or owned a team right now and I'd go. Van Gundy's on all of these little things like, Hey, look at how they blind me Anthony Davis on free throws already have them on the other side of the court. So he can seal for Deepak smaller offender will there be an adjustment. Hey, what's going on with the substitution? Hey, this rule's actually wrong. Why are they doing it? This Way Jeff Van Gundy will say, here's Hey Jason tatum something's wrong with him. He's the first pointed out it happens multiple times every single broadcast Jeff Van Gundy is easily the best NBA analyst in the game right now. Mark doesn't do any of those things and I. Don't know if that's just him not being comfortable in that role but he's a coach. He's a former player and he doesn't do any of those things. He'll say, Hey, this guy's not just a great score. He's a great individual. He's a human being. Okay. So and so doesn't get enough credit for shooting. Okay. In everything is results based. If the shot goes in, it was a great shot at the shot doesn't go in Hey, that's the guy that shouldn't be taking the shot. It's very. It's very minimal depth and when. You have people that make these decisions. You're almost instead of looking at the resume in Golden State which is on its surface again resume. You'd say Yeah. What like six years? Nicholas gives Scott his shot young team garnered play defense that's hard to do. But I think being next to Jeff. When Jeff runs circles around him on the broadcast. It it might remind go wait why why is this one guy way better talking about the game than the other guy so I think the best thing market do would not be on the broadcast with Jeff and who knows what might happen. So I just think the more we look at it and hey man trust me this is not white guy decide to push back on racism segment because I've. Probably done with those the rest of my life. I'm seeing specific to this one because the NCAA numbers are atrocious. The ABC's the head coaching. Diversity that we have in the pro sports leagues still is not what it needs to be I'm not pushing back on any of those things. But when it comes specific to mark Jackson, there are the informed in the uninformed, and hopefully if you've resisted this, you're more informed now.

Game 5 wraps up of the 2020 Finals
"Moments after exciting. One of the best, finals games in recent memory. Game Five Heat Eke Ekit out to live another day and joining Zach tonight now Chris. Bosh. It wasn't quite. Five to Allen for three. It was quite Bosch Talon. But this is up there with one of the biggest heat wins in history I mean. For sure. It's an incredible game. What did you think of it? Man You know I, it is starting to be one of those series that's just kind of grinding to a halt. You thought that was going to happen is not happening. Everything, every player that she thought was going give this particular stat line is not it's not really transpiring right now but I mean, you have to give all credit to the heat and I kept telling people this in all these interviews you know how can get? The Lakers. Over they've got the uniforms on and I just like, okay he don't WanNa be here but let me tell you something. These guys if there's anybody. Who would embrace a difficult situation? It is Erik Spoelstra and Butler seems to really. Thrive off of that and anticipate that. affected. So it's Kinda like a marker will really hard is. Like they say, Oh hey yeah, we're here now. We're supposed to be competing for championship. This is how it's supposed to be. You know is this all about survival now there they've lived to play another day and that's what you gotta do. I think it's time to just acknowledged. Once and for all that, the heat had become a great team you know there was always this question of. Did they benefit from the hiatus hiatus in everything the bubble shake the bucks more than other teams. Did they benefit from hayward getting injured a really good. You. Know this Lakers seem his lost one game in every playoff series. Until now, they have not lost to to a heat team that is missing its leading postseason score until this series Goran dragic that they could started to acknowledge Jimmy Butler. The top ten player. Yeah that'd be we're. GonNa. Have to rearrange the rankings because this dude just put up thirty five, twelve eleven in forty seven minutes forty seven minutes and five and a half whatever it is it's the game you play dull game. Survived forty thirteen seven on fifteen of twenty-one masterpiece from the Brian. James we can talk about the end of the game if you want. Everyone can focus on the end of the game, but the heat put themselves in position to win at the end of the game. Duncan. Robinson was unbelievable. They're shotmaking was outstanding and this team just keeps in with Bam out bio clearly, not one hundred percent missing layups, missing dunks, he can play better he. To acknowledge the heat now are are for real and just like you were saying, they're short handed to. So you know we need to keep that in mind You can only imagine how the series would be a little different Gora was out there and not that he's just going to be that dominating presence, but he gives them another layer. To their attack and you know they have that team cohesion down pack and I mean, I don't really know where the lapses with the Lakers are happening with dunkin' Robinson. He's making them pay every time. I. Mean He's moving himself up into Lee Company every game because you don't expect them the thing you know you don't think he's going to continue to go on the street. He's he's gone on and you'll eventually figure that a veteran is GonNa get into them and just chase him to the bathroom. But but it hasn't happened yet and I mean they're making them pay every single time and. Boy I. Tell You. We'll. We'll see what happens game six. Years especially with a hobbled a little bit man. That's one of the big cities we should probably get to. Well, let's let's talk about the end of the game real quick. Okay. So a Frank Vogel Lakers coach has come out after this game and said that there were bad calls at the end. Jimmy Butler getting to the line I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree he's probably GonNa give find. Lakers lead the Lakers up one. He, ball they run a beautiful fast play for Jimmy Butler gets A. He screwed good play Lebron not. because. Eighty one moving so whilst I foot Lebron on. Screen Lebron and she goes up but Jeff Van Gundy called on the broadcast he he floats see I mean. It in verticality your whole. Career. Frank Vogel helped invent it with Roy but. He floats. He fails right? That's a foul. Yes. Afoul he jumped into them. You know good call by the resident and you have to give you know usually referees are getting tough time I. Think they called a Great Game Day You can always look on both sides and say, well, if an if but if they're even in the game is tied and the players they're the ones who are dictating what happens out there. Hopefully, the game isn't called. You know at the end by you know free throws or anything like that but all. Evenly called Game I. Feel. Throws. Yeah, each team had their opportunities and. Jimmy Man Jimmy Butler man he's he's continuing to do it. Man I gotta I gotta you gotTa give him props he's going to make give him props I. Mean he put them on their own is back in those last minutes. Man I mean, the one leg get he's hidden one legged fadeaway. You know he's hitting the free throws down the stretch to dribble I mean he's He's shoot free throws when you're that exhausted and not just. Did you her second he was going to miss you like just. To, to, of course, you were not you think he's GonNa Miss One because as a player I know how I would feel I'm GonNa Miss One. On. THAT TIRED Like him going over when he was leaned over panting after getting fouled, you know they burned a time out after that but. Just him just still being able to muster up whatever could and having a concentration suppose still had Chris Bosh on his roster. He would have run that play where you went to the back side. And the coroner. You. Come on you. Play for last second shot several times. So okay. So it makes a two free throws come down. They call time out again, Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. Call on this game all over this. Danny Green is in the game with a know Dunkin Robinson's on Danny Green. They know that they're going to run the screen to try to force Dunkin Robinson they know there's going to be a double with Lebron that's exactly what happens Lebron Drives Zach he drives into a crowd. There's three is three and a half guys there. He makes the basketball play Chris Bosh, which he is made for fifteen years since he's been starting to the playoffs, throws it to the Open Guy Danny. Green is a thirty eight percent three point shooter from that spot according to second spectrum is wide open. So I'll I'll throw them another couple of percentage points. And he missed it. Well I know Danny wants that one back. you know he made the right play it was a crowd I. I think he had the mentality to say, you're not going to beat us. We're sending everything in the kitchen saying and we're just going to close the shooters. They got the play that they were looking for. It was a tremendous play Danny Green slipped out. You kinda tell that the heat we're anticipating that play. Brahms. So able to make a very decent pass out the Danny grains got he got his hands on he stepped right into it. Any other time nine times out of ten he'll make that shot. You know he missed it what the interesting thing was on the rebound market Moore's he had plenty of time and he kind of made a quick decision Brian, opened on the right wing, which is always easy to say a new usually. Yeah. You throw it to ad but he had another big on you know and that was just man I was a tough light. It was very tough sequence. Watching film you. In it again now. You. Know Marquee Foucault Danny Green like he just handed the ball to hand off again Danny was right there funny though when he's when you through the LOB. Through. It I looked under the Rim I saw a d. and I thought again the balls just hand in mid Air I thought okay. I hate that decision because ad Mike, I'm putting the referees in play a little bit their down one, and then of course, the pass was that not an accurate he choked right let's just say. I'm not saying I would say that to mark keeps face in this moment. Do not say that Bryant don't say that. He. What do you WanNa say it's choked. Well he also as you pointed out before we started, you know they were setting the screen it they set for Jimmy on the on the go ahead. Free throws a flat screen by crowder and the flat screen is designed. You know Chris knows when your face in half court, it's designed to make defense. Gessler. Like which way to go, but it is an which wishing the pick he went he went from an angle to switching to the flat. kind of this weird in between space and if you don't, if if you're not demonstrative about your coverage, you'll get exploited

I Disagree with the Second Agreement and I Hope You Take It Personally by TK Coleman
"I disagree with the Second Agreement and I hope you take it personally by tk Coleman of tk. Coleman DOT COM. I like to think in terms of alternatives not absolutes that is instead of adopting an either or logic for problem solving and goal achievement prefer to think in accordance with both and strategies. For example, let's consider the notion of taking things personally self help author. Don Miguel Ruiz has done a magnificent job at popularizing and articulating what is often referred to as the second agreement. Here's a summary of the idea in Ruis. His own words quote whatever happens around you don't take it personally nothing other people do is because of you what is because of themselves all people live in their own dream in their own mind. They are a completely different world from the one we live in only take something personally we make the assumption that they know what is in our world and we try to impose our world on their world and quote. I think that's a very useful idea and I found myself in some pretty lengthy discussions where I've defended it to people who absolutely to test this concept teaches own. I suppose. But as for me, my life has been a heck of a lot easier since I started practicing the second agreement as a critical thinker however, I like to keep my options open. Rather. Than treating ideas like the second agreement as dogmas to be believed in a regard them as value neutral conceptual tools whose usefulness varies with context. Sometimes I like taking things personally even when I know I'm not being personally attacked I deliberately choose to act as if I am being conspired against I usually use this idea as a psychological trick for motivating myself. As long as I can employ the take it personally technique in a way that's healthy and isn't obsessive. I derive great practical value from it. Anyone who's ever played competitive spores probably understands concept very well choosing to look at your competition as the enemy or the bad guys can be an invigorating experience. One of my favorite ticket personally stories comes from Michael Jordan before a soldout contest between the New York Knicks and their rivals the Chicago Bulls Knicks, coach Jeff Van Gundy accused Michael Jordan of being a con man who deliberately X. friendly towards opposing players in order to soften them up and gain a competitive edge over them. Van. Gundy's harsh words were printed in Chicago newspaper and Jordan. saw them before the game. He took it personally and decided to play with a chip on his shoulder for the entire game Jordan had a personal vendetta to show van Gundy just how capable he was having a great game without being nice to his opponents. He did exactly what he set out to do by scorching the Knicks for a red hot one points and one point in the game after hitting an important basket Sharon looked at Van Gundy and yelled at him. One of Jordan's team as reported that Michael Love to us, criticism and hatred as a way of motivating himself a sports commentator who knew of this habit predicted that Jordan would score fiftypoints simply because he would be fired up. I've Angolans words. US, right. Jordan took it personally and brought the best out of him interestingly enough. Here's what Jordan said after the game quote. Guess I. Didn't make any friends out there tonight Jordan smiles I. Think those words were more geared to motivating his players but I don't think on the court they have befriended me, I don't go on the court expecting to make friends. But when I leave the court, I don't take what happened on the court away from me. We're only playing a game. I don't view it as a war away from the game and quote. In a video clip. Jordan talks about how he used that moment as motivation while not letting it get to him in an unhealthy way. Jordan disagreed with the second agreement and it worked does illustrates one of my favorite metaphors for life life a game. As an all games achieving one's goals requires the use of effective strategies. A good strategist is one who remains flexible. He uses what works without ever feeling the need to assign the status of costal truth to any of the strategies in his playbook. If taking it personally works good strategists takes it personally if taking it personally leads to stress and self destructive preoccupation with what others think then it strategist stops to him personally. This attitude of philosophical flexibility can be extended to issues and belief systems. Ideas are just tools sometimes are useful. Sometimes are not which ideas of you when you use them, and how you react to the results is your job to sort out as you sorting through the ever enlarging buffet of ideas being offered in the marketplace be should remember the admonition of Terence McKenna quote nobody smarter than you and quote. You know more about what's best for you than anyone else. So don't take anybody's ideas dogmatically specially now mind think critically about everything. Then take what works for you and leave the rest.

College football in the spring? It's yet another idea being floated
"So we don't know about the future college football this season obviously there's a lot of reports floating around to maybe games played in front of no fans Notre Dame's athletic director said he's not interested in playing games a frontal fans Mike Gundy wants games played right away yeah and Kerr Kerr free was kind of the dooms dayers suggesting that there was not gonna be college football played all this year well there is a new suggestion or theory that perhaps college football could be moved to the spring semester that kind of like spring sports you could have college football's start after the Superbowl February March April being your three months of the year you would play college football instead of September October November now I think we're a ways off from this being a reality but it's a contingency plan because you kind of have to fit in your sporting season two the semesters because you have student athletes there so morass I gotta say yeah we we've been frothing at the mouth for spring football and we've seen the XFL failing the alliance fail but wanted to wouldn't fail is spring college football and it would be hard to sit through the entire fall without it right by if we had college football on a platform to itself what you do is you're talking football from real games from the start of September through may the you would have a real football games significant important football games September October November December January and then roll into college football February March April may be into may you would be beside yourself and dare I say it on national championship game played on the weekend instead of a Monday because they don't have to worry about the NFL playoffs as well as a pay off at the end instead of playing the game until one AM on a Monday night how great would that be it be great I've always said this I I think the college football is obviously a monster but that the one thing that could make college football even a little bit better is if it moved away from the NFL schedule because then I would treat college football like the NFL in all the markets in major cities that have NFL teams and look it would take away the crisp traditional fall air and you know going back to school and all that stuff if you would turn
