5 tropical cyclones are in the Atlantic at the same time for only the second time in history
"Tonight for the first time in nearly fifty years. They've ocean is home to five rapidly growing named tropical cyclones with one hurricane sally set to slam into the southern coast tomorrow for the very latest I'm joined by ABC News. Chief meteorologist Ginger Zee now Ginger Hurricane Sally is clearly strengthening as it approaches your location in Alabama? Where do you see the storm heading? Juju I'm in the heart of mobile and you've got things like that building with sandbags in front of it, and that is for good reason from here back through coastal Mississippi that's where the brunt of the storm is going to impact. So let's look at on the satellite got lot better organized as we went through today, and that's going to keep going as it moves really painfully slow to the West northwest it will finally start to make that northern tick tomorrow afternoon and evening, and we expect landfall sometime around midnight or thereafter early Wednesday morning. So this is a slow. Storm that means that rain is going to be a big time issue and part of the slowdown is that stationary front making it almost defense you see we stopped the clock at about midnight. It looks like it should make landfall somewhere close to Pascagoula Mississippi if it does by the way, make landfall in Mississippi as a cat to that's the strongest we've seen in. Mississippi. Since Katrina in two thousand five that looks like wrong place wrong time. Now, there are always multiple threats as a storm approaches. There are already dire storm surge projections. What worries you the most about Sally. Storm surges what loses most life and property and storms. So six to nine feet in some places others up to eleven. Let me break it all down for you get warnings all the way from eastern Louisiana through the Florida panhandle. Now, it breaks down and closer to the center of the storm. In the northeast quadrant, we call it the dirty side of the storm. That's where you'll pick up some of the hefty so. From Mobile Bay. Back through deloise pass Christiane that's where we're most concerned. Now we also have rainfall and I don't want anyone if they're inland to say, Oh, this is just a coastal storm. By no means, you get fifteen to twenty inches on top of that storm surge right at the coast. That's not good especially here in mobile but go up to Gumri or even Atlanta and you could see a half a foot arrange.

But it's really about the life of I am of a person rather than the death of a person on CBS Sunday morning. I've always loved profiling people. And it occurred to me that there were a lot of great people from the pass. It didn't get a proper sendoff and some that didn't get an e send-off at all. And so that this would would be the, the right vehicle. I guess as cold award is at is to, to, to profile the subjects that are interesting to me, you know, and, and like I said, there's a lot to choose from beyond von meter in TV brothers. You're doing Sammy Davis in who else? Meander falls, because when they died out, forty thousand years ago, there was no open at least not one that we could find now there might be a stone tablet, somewhere in the Levant where they were given you know, sort of a proper sendoff, but I don't I don't think so we couldn't find anything in our own search in the archives are in Lexis Nexis, which I think people still use. So this was this was important for us to do next season. This is something that I've always been interested in the black congressman of reconstruction, which I know sounds like a funk band, but it's this period right after the civil war when there are a number of African American men most of whom had been slaves, who end up serving in the United States Congress. So it's those little pockets that are, that are interesting to me as well as well as people like Audrey Hepburn Sammy Davis junior, who we hopefully all. Love and remember. But our I think are due, for sort of a new a reevaluation and you're still doing Sunday morning at the same time. Absolutely. I have a lot of stories in the works. I do the years have collected names of people who I call sort of the pioneers before the pioneers. So there's a woman named Elizabeth Jennings. An African American woman who almost exactly. Hundred years before Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks was was was was asked to sat down on that on that boss, excuse me. Among Gumri, Alabama, Elizabeth Jennings in New York was kicked off of a streetcar. And she ended up suing the railroad company that owned that streetcar. And she won and this is before the civil war, and led to the integration of New York's transportation system. And I mean it's a remarkable achievement and it's almost equally remarkable that we don't know her name. So this episode this Thursday, is about her about the African American man who played major league baseball, what passes the major leagues sixty four years before Jackie Robinson antibody woman who was the highest paid director in Hollywood during the silent era. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio so rookie coach Jim Gumri. That's his name. He went ahead. And he switched up his top two lines. "But you only need to listen to one the latest one to get caught up on everything in tech. News virtue is on apple podcasts. Spotify everywhere else. You listen to podcasts. Check it out. He's a bigger power back. Five eleven to fifteen racked up back to back seasons with over thousand yards seventy one total receptions over his career as a runner. He's powerful tough to bring down. He's the guy got a gang tackle because he'll drag defenders he exhibits. Good patients at the line of scrimmage. Knock Gumri also has a good change directions. Well, as a pass catcher racked up a lot of catches. I did see a few drops. But he did get a lot of all they really wanted to get the ball to Montgomery a lot. Obviously it is size. He doesn't have that breakaway speed. But he can definitely get by defenders. He's got the makeup of a work. Horseback has good patients change direction. There's kind of a hit or miss style. Running with him the kind of results and some negative yards at times for me. But a lot more good than bad. I had a low second grade on him. I have an eighty so we have this is our biggest discrepancy so far. So let's go ahead and move onto sleepers, and I know. I know you've got to I've got one. So why don't you? Go ahead and start. All right. My first sleeper is somebody that I haven't heard people talk about too much and his name is mile Sanders. He's the placement for sleeper. Sure. He was the replacement for. Saquon saquon Barkley at Penn State so Sanders in the guy who is very patient always makes the most of his blocks. He's creative and able to string together. Several moves about sacrificing speed Sanders has a great jump. Cut shows a nice stiff arm, and he seamlessly changes direction in and out of his cuts. Sanders is very aware is a very aware reliable blocker Sanders has sauce sticky hands and plays the ball like a wide receiver. Even even saw him makes him fifty fifty jump jump. Ball catches on his tape and Sanders finally is very effective short yardage in short order situations. He's small and compact and he does a good job of getting down low behind his pads and moving the pile. I think he takes too many chances trying to jump over defenders. I think he maybe thinks he's slightly better as an athlete than he really is. And he's trying to hurdle guys too often and putting himself at risk. He can be a little loose careless with the Bala times. He's not even though he moves the pile. I wouldn't call him powerful per se, but he runs with good leverage and Sanders will occasionally dip his head and miss block. Like most of the backs will in this class. But I haven't eighty four on Sanders. So. Late mid late second round pick. You was my sleeper as well. You know, you smooth running back with great change direction has the capability to make defenders miss with cutting ability. Sanders is a more nuanced runner using timing and hesitation to throw off defenders. His footwork is clean show. Some good drive as well. Like, you mentioned the downside is this was his first year as a starter after taking over saquon Barkley combines gonna be huge for a guy like Sanders because he didn't really show a lot this past season in terms of production. Everybody had high hopes for him. And he didn't quite have the huge numbers of everybody was looking for. And plus he's kind of coming out a little bit early with only one year one year of starting experience. But his that lettuces them is also going to be something that they're gonna wanna test because that's been a big question Mark among the draft community. So combine hope clear some of that up. But I do think there is something there, Sandra. Sees a guy. Take a swing on. I have a. Five on him. He's a third round guy for me. But definitely a guy that isn't getting the hype that a lot of these other guys are and definitely worth the swing. I think maybe because they haven't seen enough on tape and they want more production, and they want the big numbers that maybe he's not being talked about. But there's definitely something there with mile Sanders. I agree. I think he's got a chance to be pretty good. Okay. So talk to me about your second sleeper..

"So the whole point of it is you don't need everyone on that same page. And I think that this was just a smart upstairs move saying, hey, they don't like it. Here. We get something out of them move on. Now, I think its though when when when you talk about it because it's still a players league. And tell us deal trumps everything and I'm looking at this team comparison to other teams within the division. They're not as talented as those other teams, they lead to good players go ha Clinton Dix is really good player Tom Montgomery's ago without a position. But at times he's been the player. Think he's out of position running back. He was better when he was a hybrid. But when they've been at their best because the pack of had good players. They overwhelming with their talent. And have a really good quarterback. I think the Packers need to be careful of handing too much power and control to number twelve twelve was upset Aaron Rodgers upset time. Gumri didn't take the knee and look time Gumri could be wrong for that. However could be could be however, the Packers built on the Lombardi days, then Lombardi days, it was all about the team. It wasn't about one player. So they just need to be careful because we seem players go. The next is going to be the coach be careful hitching your wagon to one player yet. My issue with this as we all we we make this about air margins all the time, and we we make this point to say does do the are the Packers wasting his window. Are they putting pieces around him, meaning personnel pieces. And then you take away two guys who won two guys whose is one. One on defense that we've we've talked about their defense needing guys in the secondary bowler. They're balling in the secondary hawk Lynn. Dick's is one of the best in the business at that position that safety and then offensively a guy who's again, he's a hybrid. He's an effective player. When you do utilize them hasn't been as effective this year because you haven't needed to use him that much and fumble any fumbled. He so animators doesn't throw interceptions. Mason Crosby doesn't all. I'm saying is when you when you're going with chemistry. We understand the culture in Green Bay. They don't deal with turmoil inside the locker room, and they hush all of that. This was a been suppressed I don't think they wanted to deal with this. So they got rid of them. And I think it might hurt them in the long run because you can't always replace personnel. And they're not helping with the illness. They're just trying to address the symptoms, and you still got the issue going on in the locker room part of issues over what's gonna talk about. Now. Two guys. That's in there. This air Rogers has been there. There's always been something going on whether it's him the coach or him and Brett Farr life from day one. That's why he dropped in the draft. Like, I love air Rogers the player. But in terms of like the teammate, it just seems like there's always something, and you can't beat a common denominator in all these issues, and it's not your fault. He didn't bring it on the end zone. And I gained t the fifty three guys fifty two guys in that locker room agree with an Rowan. Nobody hand the two anonymous. You know what I'm saying? I'm gonna tell you. They all read them right now if they disagreed they wouldn't say out, disagree with them. And now Joe that's true. That's the problem with the culture right there. Because when Crosby MRs four Phil goes, Aaron I got your bags by damn. I wanna I wanna go there. But a-rod has got your back. They run. Tom Agung recent now, everybody's like Ritchie Cunningham questioned. The phone. You don't question the fines..

They have they're looking to add something did on consumer Aaron Donald all ready doing their work. Adding another guy doesn't hurt not one bid. They're they're thinking Super Bowl. So little move gave what a fifth round pick. Yeah. Could turn into third a believe. But yes, basically pennies on the Dollar Time on Gumri to the ravens is is weird move for me because I feel like he just goes from one kind of weird running back situation to another weird running back situation his workout today. I'd leave or it was yesterday. He still wearing number eighty eight which he he wanted to not wear number eighty. He's running back into Packer said no to that a while ago. So you still know her eight as running back, which is weird to me. Yeah. So do you think that he'll play a lot for the ravens? He got kind of buried in Green Bay on the depth chart behind Aaron Jones and to mall Williams, also had kind of he was also kind of complaining about the team and people were complaining about him. I think that's one of the main reasons he got traded was because of the kind of this is functioning the the Packers locker room with the raven has the problem with the ravens is that they use so many players on offense. They got Alex Collins book, and they have like four tight ends of the us. They use three receivers. John brown. Michael crabtree. Snead. Yeah. It's just it seems like he's going from one might be the he might be number two on the death. Charter my number one running game is not that great. Yeah. We'll see. I'm very skeptical that his role change a lot with the team change. But you never know. Maybe they they traded for playing. There is a reason there has to be. Mhm trade for no reason. Yeah. Sometimes who traits. Okay. Sometimes you trade just to be worse and get a higher draft pick and how more drought pixes so on and so forth. But I don't think that was the reason they traded form. No, no. I mean, the Packers trading him that is because there's a Packers just want to get rid of him and get a draft pick for sure I think he was just being a problem then locker room, so. Yeah. Their in Jones's looked really good. So. A big surprise for me. But anything else trade deadly one discuss? No, I think that's it think we'll take a break. We gotta talk about that DJ Dirk in Maryland situation. Come back that terrible terrible tragedy and the after.

"How many times, but it was prepared for the success in later? He was eighteen years making excuse always. Well, how Brandon Ingram so now cow here we go. So let's go to the last play. So you brought it up. What was Wes Matthews doing? I know what I think he was doing. He knows that LeBron is just a disaster at the late game free throw line. And he just saying I'm just gonna foul him. I'm going to intentionally foul him right in front of the referee. Is it possible? He thought he had a foul to give I guess it's possible. But I Don harder. Look at what he does. Look at look at what he does. That's something playing. Okay. I think it was planned by Wes Matthews to say, I just want him to go. See if he can free throw that was playing about time Gumri, it guess what happened. Exactly it was playing that wasn't plan because we were playing dunk dodge. It doesn't do what he doing JJ doesn't do what he d. So what I would have done in that situation is I would have played him straight up. And if he blows by me, and by the way, I gotta give LeBron credit again because he did something that I always pound the desk for him to do. He actually drove the basketball now is tiger name. But he drove it and he blue light by address it because help did not come Donncha state on have gotten the corner and JJ rail was on the other side. So it was a one on one situation. Mavericks, CD you go DAL. That's what you told me eight or not very good basketball say skip, and I've been driving on him the whole game because nobody can keep LeBron James from the rim. If he decides to go to the rim, but there was one man left back at the rim who might have gotten in his way and his name is Andre Jordan e seven feet tall. And he blocks a lot of shots. So I was hoping that I would get to see it play out. Because now LeBron would have to make some big decisions blown by if west Matt doesn't foul him which LeBron do then what's he gonna do? I don't know. But you do that. You said this is what you told me just last week. You said you wanted to see LeBron late in the ball ballgame. Go drive the by did. And give file okay? He drove the ball. He got. What I said that was an intentional foul debtor feed blown by. And he's attacking the Andre Jordan what he thinks going to happen. I'll tell you what I think's going to happen either. Lebron's going to pull up for a free throw line jump shot or maybe an eight foot sort of jump shot or he's going to pass it to a wing shooter for three at the buzz. That's what he's gonna do the hill or double team coming de'andre just standing back. Okay. Well, going we've probably gonna go up over. We don't know because you a scene. You said you to go to the free throw line. I did. Attack the basket because sometimes they'll just say you guys play just just let him play and maybe could score over. So why don't you could score over? So why didn't play what Andrea just say? I'm just going to hack him. Probably the case. And then he what would have happened would happen. It would have played out. He would have choked the first one and made the second. Okay. So he did over you. You told me you want to because I say, well, what about he hit the three? Will. He should've drove the ball. He drove the ball kiss. It off the backboard, nah, that's not good enough. Now, you wanna see drive the ball? Get file go to the free throw line. He did everything that you ask him to do. And now you change said well with Matthews meant to pilot just fell into it right in front of the referee. Just hammered question. "And let's talk. All right. I'm going to be a good host here. We're gonna finish the trade deadline. We're gonna take a break take a break because I'm taking about what we've gotta do. What we've gotta accomplish here. So let's finish this. Let's packers. Make a couple of moves. They trade time on Gumri wants seems like a big part of that offense to the to the Baltimore Ravens for a seventh round pick that seems like punishment for the fumble. Yeah. And it probably likely is let's see what the ravens can do with them a mister everything, but not actually as talented to be considered a Missouri thing. But does definitely doesn't have one position. Not not going to be really good at though. I mean, we talk about isn't. He just kind of like a super poor man's take on Austin super poor man's. He does nothing exceptionally. Will he borderlines being being good at at certain things? It's really durability in one at one time consistency was was what kept him around and kept him as a key piece of of the offense or play making special teams involve, right? But once once that kind of hit the fan, and then you got a situation almost unforgivable situation where you can change the momentum in the trajectory of of your season and taking out the undefeated Rams, and you and you blow that chance for Aaron Rodgers comeback. You're getting your bags should be packed as soon as the the possession switches. Yeah. I mean, instead he changed the course of their season effectively, ending it. Yep. Yep. I'm forgivable. It's rough. Sorry. Sorry. Packers fan. Sorry. mR, khanna? So the Packers made another trade they traded ha ha Clinton Dix to the Washington Redskins for twenty nine thousand four. I think that's pretty good value. You try to get maybe three out of them quality player. I think I think good for both teams Tom time to rescuers playing exceptionally exceptionally will football for for for the expectation. So adding some stability on the back end of the defense can help as they can seem to try to mature their offense passing game. Yeah. Charlotta agent Peterson for making both of us. Look, look, look like fools with a big game this week to Stella first half of the season. Still the first while now going into the second half of the season. Oh my goodness. Not and I fell related but worth mentioning anyway, Derrick rose put up fifty tonight. Gee what? Yeah. I feel like I I feel. feel very accurately is a Halloween N. He apparently cried after scoring Crear. Hi, good for good for Derek in one twenty one twenty five win over the jazz. Well, it's weird. That's a yeah. I feel like that update. Just got to me from like two thousand and eleven right, right. All right. Well, let's let's move on. But I'm back to Clinton Denver a second. I thought it was really interesting because I know that the Packers really didn't see him as a long term peace us going to be a free agent dissolves all season and all of that. But I mean, this feels low I mean, I feel slow to the casual observer, I guess, and that's sort of what I am with this Packers team this year. Yes. So it's just a little bit weird because you know, PF hasn't missed a number three ranked safety and all of football. I don't I don't know that he's the third best safety in football right now. And he was a guy who played every single basically every down for the Packers. So like he was a big part of their defense. But yet they're pretty eager to get rid of him and four seems seems like good value for the Redskins. Yeah. Inside info type of thing. Yeah..

"The raid raven said, you know, what we're gonna put them in a bunch of our meetings too. Ha ha Clinton Dix. There will not be a fourth-round or this year is going to hawk Clinton, dick. There won't be won't be. So at practice at you're less talented. But we know what happened is that time on Gumri is gone because he ticked off Aaron Rodgers and ha Clinton Dix gone because of Aaron Rodgers new contract. This is becoming shack in Orlando, Oklahoma City and Westbrook. Lebron Cleveland and Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay when you date somebody out of your league, it's never an even relationship. Ted Thompson get him outta here. Time aunt Gumri. Good player. Get him outta here. He ticked off and Mike McCarthy's up next. That is not to say New England doesn't love Tom Brady. But Tom Brady doesn't own the franchise. Okay. That's not to say the Lakers. Don't like LeBron. But they told him we're not giving you the franchise. Success breeds confidence. Big markets breeds options small towns that gets professional sports franchises, especially if they don't win. And even if they do they have often low sports self esteem. Cleveland's tip toeing around liberal and Oklahoma City doesn't wanna make Westbrook unhappy in may enable him and yesterday time on Gumri. Yeah. We don't need you, really. I watched them in their own division. Minnesota and Chicago have better players than Green Bay. You. Don't need time. Montgomery. You don't need Haukeland. Knicks. You don't need. Okay. Because by the way, Minnesota Chicago in your own division or better. Philadelphia's better Rams are way better. I'm watching all these NFC teams Dallas has better players. But. Okay. I just I just wanna make sure when the Packers are at practice today. You do understand. They're a less talented football team. You got that? Right. Nobody in the world in the NFL thinks this morning that the Packers are more talented. They're not bailing on this season. I'm not saying that but going to New England, and they just got rid of one of their most talented players and certainly one of their most versatile. You get into these relationships Westbrook in Oklahoma city's one of them. They're just tip toeing around Billy Donovan sh-. Don't tell Westbrook that don't he'll leave us. And they got into that in Cleveland. I saw it firsthand. I lived in Florida was shack Orlando, and I saw it would would Dwight Howard Norrland. No. And I'm watching this Green Bay thing right now getting weird. It's getting unhealthy. You're dating. Somebody out of your league. This is how guys act they get weird. And then all of a sudden, I'm there and a little Bill peop- outfit. Non talking does. The tin men member. News broke about the eagles. Yeah. And then there for three hours within already. Are we going to settle on the poll question? Mclovin forward saying my poll question my way, it seems like golden Tate would be the answer the guy with the most value trade USA over to Maria's over ha ha overtime Gumri. And even over Dante Fowler. We'll time on a Gumri difference maker probably play a lot. They kind of need that kind of third down back. But I only take feels pretty impactful to me golden Tate going to the Super Bowl champions. So they've got a lot of juice left at thirty. He has to have something left if he's going to get another contract here or a sizable contract. So this is his final year of his contract. Yampa anyone know golden Tate's real first name. I would like felt like Tim is it. What is it golden? It's golden golden h Tate the third I'm not even making that up. Dan Lovett junior the thought that's a nickname. And he goes to Notre Dame. And he might be you know, just one of those. I mean, he's still have Hopkins is your deep threat. But you know, you got Thomas who the last couple years was just sort of bland there wasn't anything dynamic about him. He certainly wasn't the best receiver on his own team. But you know, maybe it's a big body that to Shawn Watson can take advantage of their with an and it helps Hopkins. Yeah. Just get somebody. I think because fuller was that speed guy that you had to at least, you know, account for a lot of people are writing that that will fuller injury was a bigger blow than people realize for the Texans he'd been playing really well. "So it was that wasn't a problem. You know when an anonymous player called out time on Gumri the Packers this weekend. And like, I've always understood there's people in my business who tend to curry favor with critics. So they, you know, it's kind of like you're bulletproof vest in our business. Take care of the critics. They won't rip you. I've known a lot of guys that do that. You know? I mean, somebody called him out to Mike silver city was selfish. Did you were you ever in a locker room that you you knew that certain guys were leaking stuff to the press? Like, I always think that's strange I've worked at two or three or four media companies where I know there are people that are leaking stuff about me and other people to the press that that's part of our business, and do you ever feel that because green, but somebody called out time on Gumri to Mike silver, were you ever in the locker room and thought that guy's a talker. That guy's a talker. That guys talk you have certain guys because Mike silver has relationships in that locker room. So when he comes in and says low to people he'll go to certain guys that he's friends with. So you kind of put two and two together. Right. And you say I bet it's him doing it. But you never know you never in Rogers and Mike silver close. So if I was if I was time on gunnery, whether this is accurate or not I'd watch his reaction on the sideline runs. I know they're close. And I'd be they both went to Cal. I be like L Aaron just called me out probably. But when we'll never know. We'll never know. Did what you talk. Did you talk? Did you have a little sourcing in the NFL little source? Did you Peter King? You drop little stuff to him. I had that little guy. Jay Glazer, you told him stuff. Well, I mean, we we're friends, and so I would get information that sometimes you got the strategically leak stuff the, but I was never like that. I wouldn't talking about players on my team. I just kept on. Okay. I'll I'll be Glazer a gets Allah now called through Avon though, you got any scoop goop what's going on what's going on locker room. It's going on. Yeah. I got a little scoop here little you give them a little something something what's going on around around the crumbs little little some why not. That's what a NFL insider. That's what our voice rate Schrager. That's what shrinks in NFL insider, all that's what all of them. Do. When you the whole Cleveland Browns situation, how many coaches did you have in the NFL total four shoot head coach is four five anybody fired midseason never never in the middle of the season. But you had you had situations where you knew he was gonna get canned. Yeah. Oh, absolutely. I don't love the idea. Fire and Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley in week eight. I don't love it. What do you do though when you got guys that heavy goes because they're they're both? They both been head coaches. Yeah. Yada offs of coordinators. They're both offensive minds the room. I heard is that Hugh Jackson did not want tot Haley that was Dorsey decision. I don't know if that's true or not. And so and Todd Haley one of the reasons that that do. Because I knew we weren't going to be good. But when another reason I didn't wanna stick around Kansas City. I knew Todd Haley was coming in. Now, I did some research about Todd Haley, he's got an incredible ego, and he'll yell at you. And he he'll go off. You don't like that? I don't like that at all. I don't like to be talked to like that. And so I was like I gotta get outta here for sure now I'll retire if they keep me, and that's kind of what I said to him with the chiefs like I cannot stay here and play for a guy like this. I don't know him called around on new players that have played for him..

"And this is not hindsight. I tweet. Did you take a knee in that situation air Rogers you quarterback and you let him go down to win it? And I believe he raw Thomas government not saying this cost them the game. But I believe he robbed them of an opportunity to possibly win this game. Which is exactly what Roger said after the game, which is typical of Aaron Rodgers because he is notorious for throwing very teammates underboss and not taking enough of the blame himself in. This was classic Aaron Rodgers because I would like to point out all those who maybe didn't get to watch the game. The Green Bay Packers were two of nine on third down. Yesterday's that. Great. No, no Jared Goff had a QBR of sixty seven which is just pretty good. It's a little above average. Aaron Rodgers had a QBR yesterday of sixty. So he got out played according to QBR by Jared Goff. Is that good not great, especially when you're quote, unquote, the greatest quarterback who ever played what if I want you use mass rating passer rating ninety one or two point nine. I'm just going QBR, which is a much more effective and all encompassing rating quarterbacks play for the whole day. So I'm gonna go with this one sixty seven to sixty. So we get back to Aaron Rodgers who is classic for fringe pointing and blame deflecting. And in this case, I don't know exactly what happened. But to your point about Michael silver of NFL dot com. He did write that on the previous series time. Gumri was in the game. We'll time Gummer only played six off into plays the whole game. So this was one of six place, and he is fallen somewhat out of favors, you know, because there have been times when time aunt Gumri is made some big little place for this team. He's been pretty good out of Stanford. He six feet two hundred and eighteen pounds. He ran a four five forty at the combine was third round pick. So he's he's a big powerful. But but also he's got some some speed to give you eighty Lisa got banged up running back wide receiver running with number eight number. He writes. Wearing number. And I remember back in twenty sixteen in the game at Lambeau against my Cowboys ten for ninety three which is pretty good in that that playoff game at Gerry world. He had he was good in that game had eleven Russia's for only forty seven years. He had some big third down run. So so he can make some play and he is definitely fallen out of favor. So he was in on first and ten at the Green Bay twenty one in the previous series. And if we have that play this play that made him angry. So this is going to lead to what happened at the end of the game. But if we have the first ten play Aaron got a little pressure in his face, and he threw low and outside to Montgomery here over on the sideline. So it wasn't very good pass by Aaron standards. He didn't really have a chance to catch this ball. And as he jogs back to the huddle incomes Aaron Jones number thirty three's back in the game. Going to carry on next play time Gumri is basically finished for the game. And according to again, Michael silvers article he went over and slam. I'm gonna get my notes real quick here. So he slammed his helmet on the on the ground now. Backing you see he has to have those to do what he I'll Lido knows. I don't need. No. You don't need. No. Can we show your notes show him show? There's nothing before somebody types up for him. I don't I need. don't mind all mind. They're all all mind. Right. Just. Just. My professional. Here's the point so time Gumri, according Michael silver slams, his helmet on the sideline and he's feary ass-. And it's possible. He rebelled it's possible. He Newton need against the team and against the coaching staff. But now, let's get to the play in question..

"Having a flight when he didn't have a fly. I don't see a problem with any of it. But how is it? What can you explain to me is it because you don't get to talk all weekend at home that you unspoiled this way on Monday while I'm trying to set up back stories and let everybody know I mean, Chris happy because this is taking the attention off of him. But he told us that he had a flight. And then later in the day put a video of him at a winning in Fort Lauderdale like where he leaves wasn't in Fort Lauderdale wherever it was. You clearly didn't take a plane to get there. Well, I think that the event there was a big event being planned for Thursday night. Did you take a plane? No, okay. You drove up to Boca, right? Yeah. There was a big event that there had been some confusion about dates. It was probably on me where it was I booked this in advance. I knew I had this Thursday event and then like a month ago. It hit me that await the Thursday of the wedding is the same with the event that we have planned. So I had to tell them that. I couldn't go to that event because I had a wedding and in that. Might have said that I had a flight just because I got nervous. And it was a big event. Like if I did that I apologize. I just trying to make everyone happy Paul jobs for what they do. Apologize for. I mean, I totally understand. Go with me. But I did book that it Wayne advance. So it's not like, it's this is a last minute thing. That's another one that we're not so sure on. So what were the football things from yesterday, Stu gods that were your favorite football things? Aaron Rodgers being denied a chance to take take the ball down the field against the Rams is why I am again mad at his teammates. I mean, just hold onto a bleeping football. Just I mean just surgically have it put in your body. So that you could go and take it to Aaron Rodgers. So that someone. Who's losing the game for you is him. And not anybody that time Gumri who fumbled that. Yeah. Just taking a lot of people were saying that I guess Mike McCarthy said they discussed it before the kick-off covering his covering his behind. Yeah. We were stripped of that moment. I wanted to see Rogers on the road against that team undefeated go get that defense and probably pull out a victory for the Packers. We were stripped of that moment that was frustrating. But that was a really good game. And I'd like to see Aaron Rodgers get another shot of that team. God if he gets if he gets the playoff with with a team the way the Rams will lose we'll be like that or to the saints like his the saints are also we've been sleeping on the saints because they came out of the box slow, but a lot of people had them as the Super Bowl champions this year..

"Aaron Rodgers post-game clearly very upset with the time Gumri fumble, very disappointing. Plated lose the game. But it definitely took away. Tune for us to go down in the win it burst at ESPN radio in the at and Mike McCarthy give him a lot of credit supported the hell out of time on Gumri after. So we trust our players to make plays Aaron Rodgers who. I saw font of yesterday on some sort of. I don't know if this is photo shopped or not but on the internet Aaron Rodgers funded on some local news station as Packers head coach. No lies detected. Aaron Rodgers a little more candid in his assessment. Because it's obviously a guy who was tremendously confident in his ability to single handedly keep this team in games Aaron Rodgers who wanted nothing more than a chance to beat the Rams on that final drive in air Rogers who was deprived of that opportunity because timeout Gumri against all odds and Mike McCarthy said this is something we talked about beforehand on the sideline where we wanted the ball. How much time left why taking the ball out of the end zone runs counter to what you're looking for in that. But again for all the top to bottom when you look at the Rams Packers game yesterday. We talk about this in the NFL and a time where dominated by offense. I thought from start to finish that was one of the best complete football games in every phase that we've had this entire season. You had gyro exander and the Packers secondary coming back for the first time in a few game playing lights out. I think five pass breakups on the day against a dynamite Rams offense. You. Obviously had Todd Gurley again open every single play. No matter what in perpetuity, all these things happen. You got the Packers on their side. Devante atoms and air Rogers, just absolutely painting a Cosso out there in the middle of this game. And then we all get robbed because this damn special teams play. I understand. I said it was a complete game. I didn't mean I wanted to actually see specialties inserted self in a situation where it needs to be. And then of course, we've got Todd Gurley. Todd Gurley was one of the smartest football plays. I've seen it a good long while Todd Gurley. Who cares? Not for your fantasy championship aspirations. Who cares? Not for those betters in Vegas Todd Gurley who when give an open field and one of the last on the would prove to be the last actual run before the Neal's of the game. Decides in the open field to sit down get tackled before getting into the end zone. So they can Neil out the clock. Tiger asked about that. After. Fantasy end. "All right, we're back. So here's another one. I don't think I've mentioned on the podcast before in this one is a book called the soul of an octopus surprising exploration into the wonder of consciousness by Saimaa Gumri from twenty fifteen. So Saimaa memory is a naturalist and author. She's written books about other most books seem to be about animals, but this is the only one of hers I've read, but so I already think I knew sort of how interesting octopuses were, at least in theory. Like I'd, you know, I'd read all of their crazy feats of escape. They're enquiring play behaviors the way they they, they play with different objects and sort of penetrate locked boxes and things like that. They're surprising predation strategies the way they squeezed through holes, only a tiny fraction of the size of their bodies. The way they seal themselves in their dens with rock coverings or armor themselves with coconut halves the way they taste with their skin and change color to mimic there. Surroundings with this kind of frightening accuracy, all this stuff. But what I did not know before reading this book was how emotional I could feel about an octopus, so you so you're, you're not recommending this to like hardcore sushi enthusiasts. Definitely not if you if you want to keep eating octopus without thinking about a book that made you cry. This book is just an absolute delight. I'm not sure exactly what genre to call it. I would say it's partially a science book about zoology biology, marine invertebrates, primarily the octopus. So it cites a lot of research in it and talks a lot about observations of octopus behavior, but that's only part of it. It's also partially a personal memoir specifically about, and I am not kidding one bit here, love affection and the complicated personal relationships between humans and cephalopods. There is a lot of human octopus love in this book, and it's also partially a philosophical and occasionally theological reflection on the nature of consciousness in mind and people's beliefs about the soul and how those concepts could or could not and should or should not be applied to animals like the octopus. Nice. So this books. Really kinda. Got it. All. It's full of interesting facts and observations and anecdotes from experts about octopuses, but it's also got the this moving personal narrative that I'm pretty sure I if you have feelings will make you cry about activists. And I mean, really, I literally cried about an octopus in the first chapter of this book and it is it. It's a, it's got a thoughtful and earnest consideration of what consciousness consists of whether other animals possess it. What it would be like to have the mind of an octopus. There's here's just one example of the kinds of thoughts about octopus consciousness that are explored in this book. So you have to consider the way the octopus nervous system is put together. It is very different than our mammalian nervous system where we've got a brain where most of our neurons are, and then you got a spinal column and you know nerves reaching out throughout the body that can send information back and forth. But, but basically we think pretty much all of the bulk of the information processing happens in the brain. Rain, guess an octopus has a brain, but in a significant way, it looks like the body itself in not just the brain does a lot of the thinking with with neurons loaded in different parts of the body, specifically its individual arms and the arms passenger signals along within each other that never even seemed to reach the brain..

"The green bay packers tomlin gumri turned out to be a pretty interesting little running back being receiver bercy his whole career especially coming out coming out of high community college sorry coming out of college as stanford he was a perfectly receiver also returned kicks and on some end around plays and against the packers saw that and like okay we want you to put on fifteen twenty pounds of muscle only we're going to hand it to you in the backfield and you're running back once they had all those injuries go down all those injuries happen so i mean obviously with aaron jones well and jamal williams with time on gummy only could be i think all those guys are pretty i don't know if they're all draftable but they're definitely all worthy of being on a team eventually or being having different stars obviously injuries are gonna play a factor on how many carries he's gonna get but when you have aaron rodgers and and you have a defense who's this ready for routers slant on the field bunch of times you could see running back get some good points get some good production from this green bay offense i think they're going to be much more balances here as well with that kind of three headed attack last year i mean last year on it was was it for rushing on eighty one attempts four hundred and forty eight yards i mean kind is looking at they're looking at their stats here as they come as we come through even even receiving these guys williams had thirty thirty four targets twenty four twenty five catches i mean montgomery had twenty three catches two touchdowns i mean and so did than yours at eighteen or nine catches on eighteen target so i was rookie was the rookie last year so with the full of full season of hopefully aaron rodgers stain healthy you can get this these running backs any of them only problem is tough okay with twins gonna get the end zones day which one's gonna get in the end zone today as gave me tough obviously trying to figure out with mashups to the offense to the events it could definitely be.

"That's what happens case in point with baltimore and all these other running backs we've mentioned a year in year out if they continue to draft more running backs time gumri than green bay drafting two more running backs that's all we need to know their actions are telling us everything we need to know i agree yeah so yeah i i completely agree are rate from a number one team is the is the i don't know i mean patients was i thought it was pretty good once my call who's going to have in front of that india i think i would agree with that the giants i think had the giants right outside of tampa bay but i like the indy i like the you know maybe shuffle little bit but i like the team so far who you gonna number one i have the denver broncos at number one i i really like and it's kind of more under the radar team i guess because they have cj anderson i think both greets anderson just begging to have his job taken from him he's just he's good but he's not great and he's he's a little a little underwhelming he had okay year last year denver was in the top ten in terms of coal rushing attempts they had you know c j anderson led the way but they had somewhat of a committee approach mall charles head over you know what over somebody at sixty nine carries for two hundred ninety six yards devante booker had seventy nine kerry's jamaal charles probably not going to be there demonte booker would fall into the category of you know good but not great has improved himself to be anything more than a complimentary running back so i think denver the aussie the offense is going to be much improved we think with case keenum at quarterback they still have the mary's thomas emmanuel sanders so i think that.

"Nation three judge panel affirmed affirmed judge oliver's ruling and ordered a new trial from on gumri but upon getting that resolved the states moved for in on bonk review for the entire full six circuit court for all the judges six circuit to review the matter and it was at that time bunk review that by a split vote of ten to five the majority of the six judges reverse judge oliver and reinstated mr montgomery's death sentence in that majority of the bonk six circuit says it was still improper right for the state not to turn this over but simply that the evidence didn't rise to the level materiality that's needed to a new trial absolutely right no one disagreed about the whether or not the state have his should have turned the police report over the real dispute was whether or not it would have made a difference at trial and in terms of those witnesses who said they saw ovo on march twelve it's important to know that there is some countervailing evidence that these witnesses made statements after there was news of of mr montgomery getting a new trial right when when oliver initially ordered a new trial the witnesses who are the subject of the police report back in nineteen ninety six some of them came forward and they said six years later that well maybe it was they were unsure and it possibly could have been devereaux goal sister who who's a year or two older than deborah and that was who they were speculating maybe that's who they saw that night and that it wasn't never ogle that they saw alive so you know we don't know exactly you know what they saw we know is what they said in nine hundred eighty six and then what they said later right and then what we do know is after the sixth rickett reinstates conviction and the death sentence the defense team context independent friends services lc to get an expert pets port and again for reorient ourselves the time line.
