The first source that kinda jumped out at me was for us more and he each shown a lot of talent throughout his career. He's one of the reasons graded stakes winner Particularly when he was three but he came back when changing barreds last. Time to eddie cameo william a one big one twenty six time for. Us speed figure but the more advocate..
The Next Generation
"Recently. The washington post published an article about how young adults twenty-somethings called generation z. Are creating a real shift in how viewers connect with sports. And how many connect with sports if you think of the traditional ways of consuming sports you root for a team you watch and attend their games. You might be completely disconnecting from generation z. As an example the post cites. Espn's internal data that says that the percentage of twelve to seventeen year old stick and ball fans who call themselves. Avid fans has dropped from forty two percent ten years ago to thirty four percent today. What if i was to tell you that young people care more about what an athlete binge watches on net flicks. Then what he or she thinks about the next opponent or that viewers might not care about the athletes next opponent at all only that the athlete is a culturally significant. Figure if that sounds ridiculous to you then you might not understand this new generation of consumers. But if you're a decision maker stewarding the future of this sport you'd better learn to understand these jen's ears and give them what they want or you won't have a sport left to oversee now. The washington post article talked about gen z as relates to stick and ball sports. But we're going to do is spend this time talking about how horse racing relates to generation z. And what leaders in this sport can slash should do in order to reach them to do that. We have invited guests from a number of different viewpoints. I we have a racing executive looking to market his product. He is gregory. Vincent who is the vice president of marketing at gulfstream park. Next we have to young people with us. One became so hooked on this sport that he's now going through the race track industry program at the university of arizona. He is michael sand duly and full disclosure. His father matt has been a longtime espn event producer. Our third guest is madison. Bregman the founder and ceo of girls spelled with a z. At the end she consults with clients trying to reach young people. Young girls in particular. According to her linked in page she's worked with a number of clients including the nfl and she's the perfect person for this discussion because she can self reflect if you will on trends involving generation z. So welcome to all three of you. Let's start with mattie when it comes to sports in general how would you describe the differences between what appeals to gen z irs versus older generations. What degen's ears care about. Yeah i think the big thing is that where older generations would sit down and watch an entire football baseball basketball games. This generation is so much more driven by watching clips or highlights. The way that we're consuming it with that. Being said is different too because we're not watching it on tv watching it on mobile devices on different platforms like twitch and and snapchat instagram. And really the way that we're interacting with teams and players as different as well where older generations once again. We're fans of specific teams because you grew up in that city or whatever have some kind of connection to it and this generation more fan of individual players can so for example. If i'm a huge fan of baker mayfield. I may not necessarily love the cleveland browns. But i liked baker and would wear a skirt near water. Whoever it may be michael san duly. You've heard what she just said about your generation. This is your generation. How does that jibe with your thinking as you were being attracted to horse racing. Well horse racing is the number one sport in my heart. But i but i'm a fan of all sports so i completely agree with matt in the sense that our generation likes players rather than teams a lot of my friends like lebron or curry and so on in horse racing. You can kind of do that. You pick your hero for the year for lack of our term. Unfortunately nowadays everybody gets sent to orderly and this year you've built a brand of this year you could arguably make the case for to the law in tis. The law garnered a lot of fan interest because he came from a grassroots fail. I think it was the saratoga. Select that nolan in toga. Bottom out of and he grew into this the big story line. And that's what everybody likes. Everybody likes a big story. That's what attracts fans.

"Podcast brought to you by twin spires back here all the j. spain horse podcast brought to you by twin spires thursday edition of the program and of course tomorrow. We'll have the jury hear and start discussing the the weekend coming up. I was perusing the entries for that. Big gulfstream park card. My buddy cj. Johnson who we had on the show right before breeders cup we had. Cj on He's got his horse in the rampart stakes sally's caroline figures to be one of the ones beijing. Girls this horse for row crichton. It's got incredibly good over gulfstream park west and it's you know it's a different track and the this horse had broken. Its maiden at the gulfstream park turf course but run pretty good in. The gulfstream park. Oaks was forth by behind. Swiss skydiver only beaten three and a quarter lengths. One hundred five to one when when after that back on the turf but then since back on the dirt and a little bit of a break beijing girls been like insanely good in a row. Hands been hot too. He had a big gp. W i believe he won the training title there and You know speed on the legal park west is a. It's a powerful thing and so this particular race you know there is some some other gas the five lotrowska for fausto gutierrez areas gutierrez figures to be pretty quick and salads. Caroline's a stone cold closer in some you know stone closers and small fields are tricky reads. It seems like every once in a while you know they do get the set up and they blow by everybody at the top of the stretch kind of thing. But i don't know it's always a little bit of a an iffy proposition for dream. Reason there to always root for her. She's coming off a really big win at gulfstream park west but she was supposed to win that race. She was three to five that day. You know it's kinda she's been running against. Mitch ran against beijing girl to back got beaten by nine and a half lengths. But she's been running against some some pretty salty competition throughout the summer and fall and Glad to see her I think back a little more realistic kind of spot here. But what a neat horse. She's been for trainer. Matthew williams you know. I mean the small barn and the horses made two hundred ten thousand. They bought the horse for twenty five thousand back in obvious march of two thousand nine hundred. And as i've told the story several times i was. I had the good fortune of calling the horses. Maiden win. And i still i i just. I still have that vision. My head of the horse running through the binoculars just blowing by everybody on the turn with the kind of the They very recognizable silks and it was just like wow. Is that dream. Marie holy crap. It is lots of wanted to talk about And so when we can do the interview. I thought you know what that's fine. I got a lot of stuff in my my little horse player note page and so i wanted to start with a quick discussion about pick fives and then coming right back to the pick four. It's something that comes up a fair bit. And i've even mentioned it on here before too and i think sometimes i am a lot of other people in the racing industry. We sometimes get guilty of perpetuating narratives. That really. aren't that smart. And i'm happy to admit that. I am not the brightest bulb in the in. The shed their bulbs in the shed right. But when i do kind of catch myself on these things. I try to write it down and think about it more because i think i think sometimes we go by these axioms just not necessarily correct and one of them that you'll hear from a lot of people and a lot of tracks kind of depend on this as a abetting thing. I should depend on it. But they think that it's the case which a lot of times i think it is. You'll hear him say you know. Oh you know if you have a really good low takeout pick five and people play the pick five. They get knocked out. But hey there's a pick four pick three double coming up. They've already studied the sequence. They're more inclined to play. And i do think in general there is some truth to that. I think part of it depends a little bit on the circuit. You don't win when tracks have a mandatory payout sequence and it's not attracted a lot of people are normally playing. I think that people focus on that particular sequence and then depending on when it is during the day. I think they're more if they're knocked out there more likely just to go back to their regular circuit of tracks you know if it's a mandatory pale let's say at laurel and i get knocked out in the first leg and laurels not a track. I play yes. I have looked at the sequence. Yes i might have a single there. I like and i make my we win. But if i'm a regular new york player i'm probably going back to watching the new york races for the rest of that day. You know grants pass. We had our our mandatory jackpot. Pay out on the closing night and you know people bet the sequence quite a lot which was great for us and the a lot of people did stick around bit the last few races and i think part of that was. We're running at night and on the west coast and so really there was nothing else going on and so i think that worked to our advantage whereas if a lot of people would have been playing and the sequence was at noon i think we might have lost some of those players just to to some of the other big tracks that might have been going on they may be take their shot up the mandatory payout of the carryover pool.
Weekend Stakes Preview Presented by NYRA Bets
"The victory ride kicks off the stakes action here at Belmont Park tomorrow afternoon grade three early in the caught has just the feel of five phillies. GOING TO GO Six and a half furlongs as for the three year old's warning line favors one francs. Rock Cat Hall of Famer Bill Will Give Fellow Hall of Famer John Velazquez a leg up and this phillies done very little wrong on her career. She's three for seven. With four second-place finishes ran second in a couple of graded stakes, including the grade one spin away up at Saratoga last year last seen winning a third level allowance optional claimer. She uses stakes. Winner took the any limit kick off three year old season three starts back. and. Probably the only reason that this race isn't later in the card is that it's a five Horsfield and Franks? Rakhat is three to five on the morning line, and she may be the the loan speed in race, so she's going to be tough to beat at three to five, but that's a pretty short price, considering there some pretty good up and coming phillies near now I think number four center. I'll I'm going to give her another shot for. For Chad Brown and Joel Rosario Sheila Great Getting Her Maiden Win Gulfstream Park, when bet down to three to five at the end of March then came back in a tough allowance race at Churchill downs where she was really over bet, she was three to five that day against another very impressive maiden winner of this one for Steve Asmussen in casual casual ran a great race that day center I'll had all sorts of problems. She didn't break that well. She had trouble during the race, and she was just really never in at any point. I think it's a racy can kind of draw a line through? If she runs closer to the way she did and her debut. I think she's the one that could give Franks rock cat. The biggest problem Franks rocket will probably get the lead I would think Rosario would have center I'll sitting justin behind her and seeing if they can outgun into the line going six and a half furlongs. With you I'm going to take a shot with center. Rile planner. If? When I plan! Early took five tomorrow I will use both Franks rocket and center, but I'll tell you what I think. You can make a case also for up in smoke was undefeated and sprints. She's four five and a career. Lone blemish came when George Weaver tries to stretch her out Hollywood wildcat. Go at Gulfstream Park. She's raced exclusively of Gulfstream, in fact, steady diet once. Once a month February march April may June now. She gets a race in July. Here over Big Sandy, she wanted the game face overboard last time out for weaver Rod Ortiz Junior. Who wrote her in her debut against fellow Florida breads down at Gulfstream Park's in the climb back aboard for the first time. Since that day looks, you'll need a little help up front if Franks, rockets able to set an easy pace I. She's going to be very very tough. I think Senator I'll be the first one to come calling. Those are the two up in smoke. If you're looking to three deep, I don't think you need to center for Bobby and I race number three goes as the great three six and a half for a long victory ride go to the end of the card. Eleven race card like I said earlier, and the final four races make up an all stakes pick four, and it starts in reasoning with the greed three poker. Flat Mile on the turf for many years. This was the fourth of July staple. On the naira calendar here it is now as part of a super five stakes card. In, the poker though. On the widener, so they come out of that shoot. On the clubhouse turn we get a field of eight entered for the turf as a main track. Only it's all relevant with the way. The weather's been here. I would imagine you know there's supposed to be some rain. We're recording the show Friday afternoon supposed to be some rains rather day on Friday and into the evening. I can't imagine it enough to take this off the turf, so let's say it will be a field of eight.

"Half OF THE CARD WAS AEROSOL. Being able to run a good one again that That Hurricane Birdie I think it was all closers that day it was taxing pace and I think maybe a good one to look for a rebound. Get a price because of having to come off that. The finale sixteen thousand dollars claimer. There's some old classy warhorse types in here bond durant's in this race king of spades was one of my favorites at Monmouth last year. And I'm excited to see they're dropping down a little bit. He's been making good runs as of late. But you know trying to catch open forty and open thirty. Horses don't Zulu those are pretty good. Animals and I think the drop down in class. He was running in those starter. Sixteenth mom last summer and Spring and was winning them and was you know he beat McCain He. He ran down mccague mccague and went on to his next start to set a track record at Saratoga course-record Saratoga for Jason Service and King of spades real demand. Rambam like nothing so talking about a talented horse. You know maybe not town. The town of courses subjective class there but at this class I feel like king of spades is a a real real warrior and coming from off the pace like that. You're going to have to obviously get a the setup and be avoid traffic trouble Some of your better type. Saffi's got one. He claimed called four seven out and post nine. Who last time was a tactical winner for Danny Goggin prior to that had been a more of a closer type? So which one will see. I don't know the eleven go silent figures to add some pace but I'm really excited to see king of spades back in and if the price is warranted on him. I think he's a a nice nice one to end the card. But it's GonNa be a fun Saturday at Gulfstream Park as I said I don't want to sit in winter so much is maybe ideals on on how I would things and you know later the card. I think it would be a lot more of of doubles looking for wins. I the pick five sequence there and again obviously it depends on your budget and everything like that but you know. I'm not somebody who wants to be playing big spread tickets general so I thought the early pick five was one where you could make an attack for a big score by going against that favorite later on. I think I would probably try to go more race to race with doubles or win bets. But it's all up to you fun card and I wish you guys the best of luck. We will be back on Monday and we will have a whole new week of show. Hope everybody has a great weekend..

"Gulfstream Park Saturday card and the seven hundred sixteen thousand dollar turf event and I think I have my strongest opinion. Here I don't know that we're going to get ten to one. That's on the morning line but we might because from a figure standpoint this horses a little ways behind a number of the horses and here. It's one of those great wide open turf races where I think you can make a case for ten of them And you know King. Orb This five you can make a case for. Don't mess with the Rohamn. National Honor Ethics the Derby Champagnes favourite. Derby Champagne is dropping in class after a Nice second-place finish made the lead just got caught slow fraction. All the you know you you can say all the good things gaffes Leones onboard. But I just don't think this horses that far ahead of everybody to warrant a five to two or two to one that that it's probably going to go off Eh. I really liked the four dakotas dude. Who made the first start off a little bit of a layoff? Last time This horse had been competing at higher levels. Which is kind of a case for a lot of these runners? A lot of these horses have ended up in the sixteen who were very competitive for forty thirty five there. Either you know something a little bit of miss or they're just not quite as fast as they once were. But regardless they're they're now in this spot Dakota's do did for fourteen so they're taking a little bit of the weight break but if the last race is kind of what I'm ki off of I didn't think that my optics plot says that there's not a ton of speed in here. It looks like the eleven and the two were kind of the only real ones. And I think the Dakota Dude Kinda sad a pretty close up trip last time through rather hot fractions and so I thought that Dakota Dude should be a little bit closer and hopefully more comfortable because the horse was down on. The rail was in behind horses the entire way. The comment is crowded and checked late. It's actually a great comic because if you watch the replay the horse kind of inching inching in and when the front runners really start to back up He he has horse and he can't get through. So Victor Lebron just kind of has to wrap up and then all of a sudden nowhere somebody kind of comes in into him from that was right up alongside and he has to really check Don't the horses on the outside had some serious momentum in this race Arcade Ninjas the horse who won just Kinda steamrolled down the outside. I don't know if to dude was beating them but he certainly was running better than seven beaten five and a quarter lakes and I thought that if he runs back to his best days maybe the freshening. I think Falcone's capable trainer six percent at this meet. I think he's better than that. I thought it was noteworthy. We sayas shows up in here and so if if he gets a price to quotas dude is is one that I would be happy to single and pick threes or play doubles off or just Bedouins. Bet If he's ten to one or higher so Again race where I thought there was plenty of horses to to like I think national honor and was coming off a win at this level but he was coming from way way back and I don't think there's as much gas here so my play is that Dakota's dude is going to get a cleaner trip going to get the jump and hopefully Upset throw twenty two dollars in the pockets of some nice to dollar folks the race card. Another maiden special a little bit similar to ray six in the sense of you know not my my best wheelhouse here. But they're certainly intriguing horses. Chad Brown has the reason. I think this racist kind of quote unquote in my wheelhouse is because I think the Chad Brown is going to be very short price obviously made specials at Saratoga and Belmont stakes weekend probably a little tougher than what they're going to see here at GP. W In April. But this horse really didn't do much running either start a very mild kick in the first debut according to the charts and put that second race at Saratoga. I mean I know like I said I know those fields tough but just didn't do much and basically ran at the back of the pack the whole way and just happy to let uncle Chad. Beat me a in a race like this with a horse like that. And there's some there's some good looking horses in this field horse. Todd has a one point two million dollar runner and curly. Ambrose I would say. Watch the board a little bit. I I mean the horse can take money of course but a lot of these todd I that have been live have really opened up short and so I would be keeping an eye out for that one I. I'm interested to see the bill monarchs Mr Jaguars. Because they're going to try the dirt for the first time but the horse has a couple of decent runs on grass and whether or not it can run on dirt will certainly find out. The last workout was very strong. And the Mike Maker horse on the outside rainy. A very credible debut in the The first time start after being a little bit wide makers not somebody. I think of as cranked first time ready to go sort so I kind of liked the two outside wants here along with the pletcher went but the pleasure was potentially a very very short price. Turf SPRINTING IN RACE. Nine race nine kicks off the pick. Five fifty cent pick five and again turf sprint and Mike Maker has horse in here. The number four young Raymond who I don't think is going to be six to one coming off a maiden twenty five win so it is jumping up in class and off the claim but pretty impressive wire-to-wire effort racked up a pretty strong Brisbane at speed figure of eighty six which plays very well against some of the top ones in here. I thought there was a lot of different ways to go in here. Just the to give me. Twenty was awesome winning last time outbreak. The maiden for fifty thousand maiden claimer behavior and prince has been in the hunt in these rate. I mean he's been second and the stretch call in five of his six career races and necessarily hasn't finished the job each time but I mean just as honest as the day is long and we talk about realizing our biases and stuff and I always mentioned that I am way overly biased about horses that I've called and I even mentioned like the colonial horse in the first race and there's another colonial horse in here who ran a huge second place finish in an allowance non-conditional outside just an open allow what's event POKKA. Lopez was on board that day they take the blinkers off to Wesley Ward Horse and we know Wesley spaces I mean you know. He'll run them. Give them big chunks of time off and Dylan Davis shows up know. Dylan hasn't been doing all that great since he came down at Gulfstream but thought this was worthy of a look certainly capable of improving and even the nighthorse Miami. Crockett is is interesting. I even thought that the ADA Forte. Who SHOULD BE A huge price? Could come running a little bit at the end. 'cause there's a fair bit of early. Zip in here as is expected the five furlong turf but I had some trouble kind of thinking which way to go. I mean literally might be just a matter of K. I think these five or six have chance. Who's offering me the best price? Bahamian prints if he slips up to five or six to one. Does he become a a must use? If Young Raymond does stay at high odds of the Board will tell US lot. I think in terms of weird possibly go in that race late. Pick four starts at race ten and we got a couple of good dirt races toward the end of this card. This one. A sprinting event at six furlongs in optional. Seventy five now. What is it the year? Good horses and being born the rail horses coming off a big wire-to-wire score last time there's a lot of other speed in here. Could KRIENS figures to go early on Wanderlust can be close. Early on. Chart is early on wire-to-wire last chance for love for Brendon Walsh. Last Brennan came on the show this week which means he automatically has a big shot to To win this one at at three to one. But as I've said I'm just always gonNA lean against these open length first timers who had cruising easy lease which leads last chance for love. Did and that's just not going to be the case today. I just can't imagine this horse gets kind of a freeloading trip. Mike Maker or Mike Matt's rather has a debut winner here from Laurel Bachelors Bait. Who was very impressive on debut coming from off the pace draws outside so I'm guessing is going to be able to sit back fifth sixth or seventh early on let all that dirty work happened. I mean every horse in here for the most part has been a formerly place type. I SUPPOSE TAYLOR SUCCESS DOWN IN POST TO. Who's coming off two straight DISMAL EFFORTS BUT IT GETS STAKES? Company should be coming from a little ways off. He certainly going to have to turn it around. But there's just so much heat in here. I thought that there was a couple of different ways to look for potential prices. I'm really against last chance for love. That was my main opinion. Was that this one is just. It's just going to face too much additional new pressures to warrant a short price in here so that was kind of my my main steer in In race number ten the eleventh race we go back on the the grass eight and a half furlongs. Another one where you kinda gotta watch the also eligible because some of the horses. That could possibly draw in here are very talented and would would fit very well in this race at this level. But it's a it's a pretty. It's a salty group and it was kind of one of those ones where these are my favorite kind of turf races with these big fields where you can similar to the dakotas dude race earlier on. I WANNA look for horses. Who are not going to be the favorites but aren't that far back from the favorites. Either on their best day or if the favorite regresses a little bit or the famous doesn't doesn't get a perfect trip battle of Blenheim. Ninety five morning line favorite for maker and he's kind of a horse that likes to be up close early on battled last time and still was able to win the war Kind of opened up after putting away and was able to hold off a late charge but His best efforts have come when he's right up there on the pace and some other speed types in here. Honey won't right to that was outside for Bill Mott Went WIRE-TO-WIRE LAST TIME. But again through slow fractions and so. I see those two in here and I'm seeing this my optics. The you know the one figures to be close up. The twelfth hieroglyphics could be somewhat close up again more of a stocker type especially probably drawn outside. These ones to me. Hieroglyphics became kind of interesting one because maker claim the horse brings it. You know drops it down a little bit in terms of price to thirty five and I think should be able just to sit in behind those two. It's GonNa be interesting to see how far they can all crossover because there are a few horses. Like the seven gentlemen Joe who want to be kind of close up But I I was kind of trying to look for who I thought would be a price horse that could come running in the end And I think that hieroglyphics is possibly one of those If the Thirteen Basha draws in I think that That that one could be one of the ones to come running late. Prince of Arabia I think is Is a pretty decent closer in here. Ten to one in the morning line came with a huge rush last time but that was on the dirt kind of been more of a marathon dirt horse of all things but if they really cooking certainly it's going to be running at the end and I want someone running at the end and I think it'd be it'd be and cones. Just been doing well lately. So but a fundraising man a challenging the late. Pick FOUR. Pick five and stuff. Is You know where where I think. There are some obvious structural singles in there. I think you have to this late. One I think you have to just make some some stands and and just hope that you're right because it is a tough tough batch of racist optional seventy five fillies and Mares in. The finale earned the started late daily double twelve race up. Pacific Gail returns in here. Of course you might remember Pacific. Gail ran behind some very good horses. Like come dancing I mean separation of powers. I mean keep in grade three grade to company and they make their seasonal return. Here a horse is GonNa take money because of that. She's five now. We haven't seen her since July. Could she win? Of course but you know I'm I'm generally gonNA steer away from long. Layoff types the interesting horse in here to me. His Jakarta who has just been insanely hot is a very very speedy type and figures to just gun straight for the lead is going to have to battle. I believe with Liza Starr whose another one who likes to go early. And so this race very well could could be cooking in the early going. There was a horse coming out of the Hurricane Birdie Aerosol the number seven horse who six to one on the line didn't do much running in the hurricane bird if you remember that race though they went really quick to the half forty four and three and she was only a couple of legs behind and Sally's Kermit who won came from way out of it while woods. Beauty was closer as well Just a race where I think upfront. It got a little goofy. Got a little out of hand and comes back to the level. The horse ran at two starts ago where ran third at somewhat of a short price. But going six and a half they they. They weren't going quite as fast early and they finished up pretty strong at least in the third quarter. So I thought that if those two go really bonkers that aerosol could be one to receive kind of the the first up trip and sometimes that's a winning move. I mean there's GonNa be some good horses coming from behind like Pacific Gail so certainly Gimme I thought I thought one of my stronger opinions in the second..

"It's Friday afternoon if your Friday morning when I'm recording but I'm not going to post it till Friday afternoon. I feel like there's no sense in posting analysis for races on Saturday with Friday's races still happening so But anyways happy to be with you here on a on a Friday April. The tenth today would have been my grandpa chuck's hundredth birthday. I mentioned that earlier in the week if you listen to our regular shows and Yeah thought about my GRANDPA lot. This morning is was I mean hundred years. He made it seventy three. He died in nineteen ninety three but a great Guy World War. Two veteran fought in the battle of the bulge. He was I I've always said I'm very proud that I get to carry. His name. Is My middle name. My Middle Name Charles. After GRANDPA Chuck and Work for the airlines for for many many years that was his career after the united in particular and raise four kids grandkids and I love golf. Love fishing he had hit a I mentioned about probably two months ago. I guess it has been now. I went back to the lake that he used to have a fishing cabinet. Just to go back and see it. I hadn't been there subject thirteen but a lot of special childhood memories up the lake twin lakes and his cabinet and hope that You know hope. The GRAPPA Chuck can somehow out there in the University of the ether. Feel the love emanating from here in in black diamond Washington but anyways. Let's get right to this Thirteen race card. That's coming up at Gulfstream Park on Saturday. I'M GONNA I'M GONNA be like a tout here to say I love this card this. I like this card but I do it. I think it's a fun car to think. There's some different challenges in it. I think there's some good sequences I had said and the Tampa card when we were talking about the pick. Five and he actually. I said that last week we talked about the pick five. It wasn't a sequence in particular that I had a great feel for a pick five in this one. I feel a little bit more like like one that I would. I would like to hop in on. I think the big question mark for the early pick five is going to be droppers. And we've talked a lot about droppers in recent weeks so I think it's a good test in kind of identifying the class droppers that you think might be worth looking away from and the ones who. Maybe you're worth sticking up for the first race. That's not so much the issue it's more Races two three and four where I think the CL- and in particular I'd say racist too because that horse in race two which will get to in a second I think. Probably the Lynch pin for a lot of people in the sequence so let's start with race one though and then once we get to the fifth race. We'll do kind of the overarching. Pick five discussion and pick for. I guess because they they run a two through five. Pick four sequence so one thing worth noting. A slight chance of rain showers high of eighty low of seventy eight so this time of year with Gulfstream Park I would venture guess that if there is much moisture at all they would take the race's off the turf The turf obviously you know has just been through a championship meet. That had a lot of turf racing. They're still throwing a fair. Bit of turf racing added even though there is one less day of racing per week I have to think that They're a little more stringent with the running on anything other than prime crisp firm turf so be aware of that and the and there's some MTO's on the card that are actually quite interesting as well but this first race five furlongs on the turf. It's cheap cheap. The Twelfth Five Nantou and you know kind of a race that in this sequence I think people are going to spread a fair bit My my struggle here was I liked to horses. That are are closer types but I think that one of them is more of a dirt closer type and if based on some of his shorter turf efforts the number seven. Primo Poso should be a little bit closer early on their adding. The blinkers trainer Lily Curtain. It's broke the maiden with this horse at colonial and I remember the race. It was right toward the end of the meat Stocked and kind of battled early out with the other one. Put that one away and was actually. Kinda inching clear in the final strides in the turf. Sprint it was a little easier to go wire-to-wire but in general wire-to-wire was not the winning move at colonial so they went from there to the dirt at Gulfstream and ran decent. I mean ran third and try to come from way off the pace First Time against winners state breads but still first time against winners and last couple starts have been at higher class levels but still not one or two and again on dirt so they dropped the price they cut back to the near the distance and surface of the maiden win and and they add the blinkers. They also go with seven pound but boy which I think could be beneficial for this particular horse To maybe show a little bit more early speed. Maybe have a little bit more left after showing that speed Put It on Daddy. The six horse was had kind of a bad start last time it doesn't mention ended the charge comments but watching the race back. It was definitely a slow start and was able to close in and win at five furlongs at Gulfstream. Which I don't think is the easiest thing to do That was made in twenty-five. This seems like a logical next step up to the Nantou so those were kind of the two that stood out for me. I did think you could make a case for the nine. Who'S A horn? And this is the complete tight that I would never ever put on top. I wouldn't put it on ticket but because it's one for thirty six and I mean you know I I get that horses get stuck in non winters of to land for awhile but this is a different kind of non winners of to but from a consistency standpoint from a generally tactical standpoint. The horse offers a lot of pluses. And I think I think a decent horse to be underneath Shanghai Levi again another one who's been at non winter to land the number Tan for quite a long time. The eleven I think is maybe a bad morning line The horse broke the maiden for maiden thirty five on the grass at five furlongs at Gulfstream. Did it very nicely and then subsequently went into stakes competition and open stakes not not Florida bred stakes They they went down. Optional thirty five last time. Gp W didn't do much running but this is a big glass plunge and kind of return to what this horse at least did best on. Its one time it did best. I don't particularly care for the Horse because I just think that the horse is not in great form but with Gaffes Leone and with the big class drop. I don't think you'RE GONNA get ten to one on venerate but I think some people will look after that one and some speed coming from the outside and congrats this for dirt speed but when it did go five furlongs on tariff. He was a moderate speed. I think the rail has some speed. I think there is enough early foot to possibly set it up for the six and the seven I think this is a race. Where a lot of people are going to be going deep because the next race. There's kind of the illogical single and I think the third and fourth race there are some horses. Those are some reasons. I think we're a lot of people are going to go thin. So I think the way the sequence is gonNA structure for most people is to go spread single narrow narrow narrow meaning two maybe three maybe single And then spread again in the fifth. So if I'm looking at a pick five ticket I I want to kind of be a little different from from them and I think that I like the six and the seven enough to where I just go with those two and hope that it sets up for everybody else. The second race is where you have the number it's a dirt sprint. It's a mile but it's a one mile maiden twelve five and you have this big class dropper in the number three witch-hunter for Sappho Sutphin. Saffy is his barn is really tough to read. Sometimes and I feel like right now you know he kinda wanted that culture but then he heated right back up and they're taking the blinkers off this horse that they ran for maiden special weights didn't do much running so they dropped down to made twenty This was the race that dream. Marie broke her maiden in for twenty. And she's of course gone onto become a graded stakes placed horse She went on a nice little winning streak after winning that race So yes it was a maiden twenty but which hunter was beaten by a good maiden 20-horse. That was much better than made in twenty as it turned out But then he jumped back up to maiden fifty when off at five to two and you know Kinda ran amid pack you know. Drop back a little bit in the stretch and started making up some some ground you know at the end to to get up for show they take the blinkers off. It's a huge class drop. I mean from maiden fifty down to maiden twelve five. I mean you're talking about several levels of class dropped down we know frank. Calabrese has no problem dropping in class to get wins. I mean that is kind of his thing and Gaffe Leeann shows up. The horse has very very fast last work. I mean there's there's there's warning signs and there's if the source runs their race or improves at all. It's it's not even a race. This is going to win by a mile that said there are quite a few red flags as well so how to approach something like this. Well I mean obviously you guys. You have to make the decision on it. My thinking is that if the number of tie the number of times this horse is going to be a single on on the number of combinations out there I think is going to be staggering. And if this horse wins this race you know four out of five times. I'm not surprised but I think that the return on beating this horse is way way worth the twenty percent chance that you beat it and so to me. It's go against and and like I said I I wouldn't be shocked if it's if it's a horse that you know people all single but I thought you could make a case for the five Rockstar. I thought there was potential even in the six music city wolf as a as an on the Lee type because the three doesn't have a lot of speed which hunter so which figures to be coming from off the pace which if the tank is empty on that horse we're gonNA find out on the turn signals right up and blows on by. We'll know the race is over but if all of a sudden on the turn they start pushing along it could get interesting. I think the eight beds strength is a little bit interesting and I think the nine signing bonus should be somewhat tactical and ran a pretty good race at this level last time at this distance as well so I thought that it was a race to go against and I probably throw out which hunter and probably goes some coverage again knowing full. Well that this horse probably wins this race. Seventy or eighty percent of the time. But I think they're going to go off at one two five. I think in the fours and fives the horses. Going to play monstrously favorite and that if you could be right then it could be a very good potential at a score so But again I I also would understand if folks wanted just single there and move on and You know if you're right percent of the time I don't know that it's a long-term right move unless you get some prices elsewhere. But I don't I don't I won't begrudge you. I just think it's it's an opportunity to really go against where everybody else's at and we have seen a number of odds on saffy horses lately not show up and fire And so if you're if you can be right one out of every few times on this one I think it's a worthwhile endeavor third race We stay on the dirt. Shorten up to six furlongs. It's a maiden claiming fifty thousand and a lot of horses who it's kind of interesting there's a few of these ones that have been running mate and special weights. They ran for maiden fifty last time and her back in there again One of them is a saffy claim. For for Calabria's they claim for fifty at number five chilly haze. Who showed a little bit of speed faded late? I think this one makes sense. I kind of part of the reason. I think I also wanted to go against that. Three-horse in the second race was. This was a race that I saw as a little bit of a spread race..

Post Time: Fountain of Youth is leap day for Derby hopefuls
"Happy Fountain of Youth Day. Thank you thank you starting early today for so eleven. Thirty fourteen racist today so should be a good one. I don't know if people think chancellor card yet but I mean it's just stacked start to finish so we're we're gearing up for a day. How's the weather down there today? Good conditions it's great It was very breezy and on the chilly side yesterday. Obviously not Florida are rolling their eyes at US saying that it's cool but it feels different when it gets colder down in Florida will definitely say that. But it's gorgeous. Today it's going to be low. Seventies son is out a little bit less windy than yesterday as well. Let's start with the Fountain of Youth. That will be the final of the fourteen races on this Saturday program. Twelve horses are entered. There was some conversation about chance it potentially coming out because of the outside post position As of just a little bit ago I think he is still in so some decisions yet to be made but twelve horses set to go. How did you see this one? Yeah he is still and he does have until forty five minutes before the race as is the protocol for Great. It's so he's got some time There was one scratch just of the number two horse in there but This is a tough race chance. It's been really impressive. And Ultra talented and and obviously Fun Horse to watch down here but I did go with the Horse. That actually finished second to him in the Home Watch. Oh man and that is as you know on. Tv For Kelly Brian. I just thought that this course who I had not actually seen him physically before leading into that last race and he really showed me. Both in the flesh needs performance that he was the type that could handle the stroud and distance effectively. I think he's drawn well and he's going to be really tough. Obviously done this moment. It's going to take a lot of attention. Chance it as well and those are some good horses but I'm GonNa land on as seen on TV seen on. Tv Ninety two on the morning line has been extremely consistent. You mentioned the forest arts. Two wins two seconds and that runner up in the mutual macho man last time to to under pokka. Lopez here this afternoon. I'd like to spend more time talking with you about some of the other contenders but in the interest of time here this morning. Let's move on to the race. For the three year old girls we don't want to neglect the phillies The Dow is race number ten one mile on the main track. It will go right around that four o'clock eastern time. Yeah this is an exciting race. You've got tunnel shape city outside Saffy. Joseph's junior has obviously really burst onto the scene this year with the likes of math wizard and then of course potential Derby contender and Chan said and he's also got affiliate that Again is undefeated and turned out to be the first graded stakes winner for Tony. Lists and sire and she even though she's been so impressive it does kind of feel like even in this race that she still has a little something to prove. It'll be interesting I think that the race really revolves around the todd. Pletcher Philly in spices nice. I mean she was just a monster in her debut and I spoke to todd yesterday and he said that she was the phillies but they obviously really had high hopes for given the purchase price and her breathing out of the Dorsey and she not only showed up in her debut. But I watch pretty much all of her recent workouts at Palm Beach downs and I spoke to todd about this too and that she's been training for the most part with some of the really highly touted colts and his part including the point. Who was really well tipped out market analysis. Just some very talented horses. That have won first time out. And she's been training with the colts. A Lotta Sense. Kinda dwarfs inside too. She's a very very big Philly but she has a nice way of moving and they taught it said that was a way of them kind of testing. Just how good is she? And she's really responded to retest. Yeah that I start. She dominated her maiden race on January twelve. She won by twelve ran away from the field. That probably could have been more if they wanted it to be. That was at the same one mile distances. Today's Dimona del Was there a obviously? She was the favourite that day ACACIA but was a palpable buzz around spices. Nice when she walked into the paddock that day there was and you know she would not necessarily be the type of horse that I would pick out in a lineup Just face off of you know looks for a Horse. That would win first. Came out like I said. She's very big she by curl and She has kind of a long stride along next to her and I thought that she was going to win. But I was almost wondering puts. You need a race which you need to turn. And she's just so talented that she was almost kind of able to overcome. Maybe not looking like the precocious sharp I out type of winter so I thought that was really interesting as well. And and obviously this is going to be a tougher spot going right into graded stakes company but think that she is really one of the box. Office potential superstars on the undercard today. And I'm excited to see her. I also use underneath though in Second. I use five reluctant bride. Who I think is good and I like her switching to stay. She's got dirt pedigree and I spoke to Patrick the cone the other day and he said he tries a lot of his horses that he thinks are good. On the turf I F. A. Indian and sold allante being perfect examples and He says he thinks it's an easier trip. And then you switch them to dirt and that just might be where they're most comfortable and that's what he's doing with this one today who just closed so impressively in her first race. And I think that she's got some ability to talking with ACACIA. Courtney from Gulfstream Park here on the Horse Racing Radio Network Again Fountain of Youth Day Fourteen races. We have time to look at one more case you have about a minute or so. Just over that for we have to get to the next segment The Gulfstream Park Mile is race number. Twelve another big field. Eleven horses entered one mile on the main track. And this is a very interesting race gear. Mclaughlin had to including Hi Collin true. Kimber I really like hike. Second also layoff. I think he's GonNa be a big improvement for him today. And I think that it's kind of always flies under the radar is how Creek Hustle. He's actually my top picks some paddock school the other day for Vicki Foley. I think he's actually going seven furlongs. One Turn My. Oh which is what he gets today. just a side note. It's the treat to see Pegasus World Cup runner up MR freeze back. And he'll turn back and distance as well for for Dale Romans who could potentially have a big day. Yeah it could be a huge day for Dale and ACACIA. Has a very busy day ahead of her. So we'll let her go. Acacias squeezed me in this morning. I appreciate you taking a few minutes. Go enjoy the rest of the day and we'll talk soon. Thanks for being here all right. Thanks guys take care. She's the best Acacia Courtney. The little a here on the horse racing radio network do miss having her with us on the network but she's doing good things down there Gulfstream and on some of the other national. Tv
Mark Casse Interview - January 18, 2020
"When you talk about the three year olds this weekend all eyes on the grade three Lecomte stakes at the fairgrounds and mark? CASSIE is going to be a very very busy man. He has horses entered there there. He has horses entered at Gulfstream Park. And as you might expect he's prominent in so many major stakes races mark with me now here on the horse racing radio network mark appreciate the visit in the time my friend thank you. Thanks for having me now. It just got to win a few. Yeah now you just got to get things rolling. I mean you're pretty. Hey good at that though sometimes so far this year but it's really it's early what's okay so for a trainer when you go through a little stretch like this. You said it's slow. You know things will pick up eventually. But what do you. How do you keep the faith? How do you keep the same approach? Approach everything well. You just know that it's worked and so You know you just you just keep doing the same thing you've always it's done So much of it is is just sometimes you go through cycles and things work right sometimes. I can look at it condition. Asian book a lot of times. And tell you whether we're going to how we're going to do. Sometimes you know you have races that fit your horses better than others and But by the you know you just continue David Care on. I've talked about this many times and that is you just keep doing doing What you've been doing we We won five breeders cups and two classics. And so I think we we I think we we. We know what we're doing so we just keep doing the same thing. Yeah more than twenty eight hundred victories in North America for trainer Mark. CASSIE so. Yeah I think you know what you're doing it hard mark not to start like tweaking. Funny Mike though I will tell you. This is many racist as we went all those. When you start? Start when you do go through a little spell where you're not winning as much as you'd like you know you're like he's still like oh I want to win. It never changes. It doesn't matter whether for me whether it's a five thousand dollar claiming race or five hundred thousand dollars claiming race and I I don't like losing nobody does You know so There you go. Well hopefully things start picking up with the Lecomte Lecomte stakes later today and all the stakes races at Gulfstream tubes. You're well represented there but let's let's focus on the three year olds in the lacob and this is a race that you want for the first time. Last last year with war of will we know it worked out okay for him he went out and won the preakness later in the season. And some people will say maybe he should have won the Kentucky Derby. But that's neither here nor there here at this point So tell me about the two horses you have this year. You have Lynn's map and then you have enforceable and I would say Lens Map. Probably the more highly regarded at least in terms of the the morning line. Well well we just scratched him. Oh okay well there you go. And and that was kind of the plan when he drew the fourteen hall. It's nearly nearly impossible to win anywhere from the fourteen whole But New Orleans is pretty tough to win from the fourteen hole So when that happened when he drew outside their yesterday we Entered him in the Smarty Jones. And he's going to run next Friday at Oakland in the Smarty Jones. That works out okay. It doesn't cost you a whole lot of time right. No no not at all and The the Smarty Jones I think he's number eight of nine much much more favorable Post and Yeah he's a very nice horse he's he's done done well so far We're excited to have him and you know now he. He's he's taken one step. He took another step and now the big except the big step that says. Can you run with the better. Three year olds in North America and We're going to have to wait a week to find out. Is there something mark that you look for for in your newly turn. Three year olds at this point in the season that you say okay they they have that it factor they have what it takes to be a factor moving down the road to the Kentucky Derby. Oh yeah I I mean I think you can look at horses and say you know can again this one go forward a lot of times. It's pedigree a lot of times. It's the and brains So it takes a lot it takes a lot and and more than anything it takes a while back but Definitely by this. It's time you know we're looking at is that we think could You know go on I would say that A year ago today I still had big question backs questions about Sir Winston I wasn't sure how good he was as yet and But WAR WILL I. I was very confident at this time. Last year. I think I can remember doing an interview review Down for Thinks it's name right now but down in New Orleans and he he said What do you think of your chances today? And I said I'd be surprised if he gets beat. And I don't say that very often but I had just the utmost confidence of war in war will well We're not we're not in the same. You know we are not on the same same page right now as we were a year ago so we have enforceable end. Today who enforceable is one of the horses he's gotTa humongous pedigree pool brother Demo Heynen also half brother another really good horse. Can't can't escape me right now. But he's a horse. We liked a lot but he is just been extremely slow to come around His last race was much better than it looks on paper and in David's extremely happy with the way he's trained up to this race so You know we're expecting big things out out of in today I if we don't see him today then he's just not I don't think he's good enough so We're we're looking for big things out of him today. Are there a couple of other three year olds in the Cassie Barn. That people should keep an eye on as we moved down this route short on my three year old colts right now. Um and one that I would tell you that we work game this morning. I'm in Miami today and we work in this morning we bought or recently broke his maiden name's untitled Broke his maiden at cough stream ran a ninety eight buyer One by ten. I'm excited about at him pretty soon this morning out of the gate and I just like so many things about him. He's a big tall lanky cold with a great mind and and Just lucky you know that we were able to get him in and now we need. We need to have some luck with him. He's going to Swail We have two you other cults that are in running allowance races today Strike Appeal and race driver. They're running that fairgrounds right now I would call them the B. Team Hopefully plea. After today we could call on them they will say earlier. You mentioned the name of the Belmont winner from last year Sir Winston. I saw that he had a breeze was yesterday at Acworth. Desert Right which day before the day before a guy for yeah? What's what's going on with him extremely well? We were very happy with the The only issue he pulled the shoe off during the work and then he stepped on it and He's been a little tender on and we're currently Soaking his foot and and insane I would say fifty fifty. I sent him up to run him in Chazal I think it's called and Next weekend right now I'd say we're fifty fifty two run. We're GONNA see. See Our foot response to that and If not we'll wait for the next one. My long term explains for him is is trying to get him to do by which I'm happy. He grew up a lot during his time off. He's a big handsome horse now. And and Training well so expect big things out of in We'll see what happens here with his foot. Just been on the phone with the Cheney Baig Egg who is my main assistant there knows no Sir Winston probably better in any way and he helped preparing for the Belmont and So we're we're seeing. He's he's soaking his foot as we speak what's going on with the preakness winner. IS HE GONNA race in two thousand twenty. Yes eastern well. He watched him train Yesterday morning before I drove down to Miami scrape. He's grown up. Some right now are feeling Is that. He's a great one winner on the dirt. We're going to try to make him a grade. One winner this year on the grass so that that's where we'll be focusing Probably the maybe around March or April April.
Who's the Champ?
"Bobby? A halt of the New York hot list is our first guest of two thousand twenty here on the gate now. The horse that won the Breeders Cup dirt bile beating Omaha beach is spun to run and he will be facing Omaha beach again in the Pegasus World Cup. The first major race of two thousand thousand twenty but maximum security will not be there and code of honor will not be there. Maximum security is waiting for Saudi Arabia. The world's richest race the Saudi Cup in February. It's very tempting to make this a political discussion. I'll only do it to the extent of saying with what's going on in the Middle East right now. How do you think that is going to impact whether trainers bring their horses over for the Saudi Cup and or the Dubai World Cup in March or maybe they take a look at that Pegasus again and say maybe we ought to just stay here that that's a very hard question to answer? Ah It's hard to understand how people feel I will say this. I am confident in saying that the people especially in Dubai. We're ruler of the country behind that I think they're going to bend over backwards to provide security and take care of the park I I would hope the same thing's going to happen in Saudi Arabia race and then just not become a outer tech or anyone but that is a question question that you just can't answer. I think it's very hard. It's an individual decision to a Lotta funny. I understand when people go play a lot of people who have no dog in the adviser to come up with answers of morally questions. And what they're gonNA do when not to you. Gary West was all set to run his voice Independence when it was nine nine billion dollar I. He was happy to take the fourbillion winter. Share the person. Just go to the Middle East but when you cut the first out of nowhere to three billion winter I'll get one point five billion something like that and you have just wants to you know once in a lifetime could easily win ten million dollars and probably turn around that month and win a twelve million dollar right I. It's hard because this is an expensive sport and as much as these people arrested of of money that goes into this so You understand it as of now. I haven't heard anyone saying they're going to change their mind about going. I'm sure people are a little bit nervous but I mean let's be frank. I think anytime you over. There is probably reason to be nervous. So it's just an individual decision and I wouldn't chastize anyone. Whatever they they decide because it feels like them? That's their call. It's not it. I make my own decision on my life. You make your own decision on your own life and I think that's the way it goes. Oh by the way. I think you're under selling the Saudi Cup. I believe the purses twenty million dollars. Well it's ten million the whip you get ten billion but it's it's one that that that's what I'm saying he gary West is looking at it. I will get sent. Don't get out of the home and billion dollars if I say in that term so you can when you look at it now. You basically have to win the Pakistan that in line with at one point I for share of the first compares to the ten million that he will win. Take home for winning the Saudi Cup where he will be the favorite and a one term mounting great definitely. I Dunno betting Saudi Arabia. But I know American pools. He's GonNa behavior and you running for stabbing tons of money. That's a pretty compelling nonetheless in the Pegasus World Cup you do have. Some horses is with some credentials including higher power. The Pacific Classic winner. We mentioned Omaha Beach. roadster for Bob Baffert is aiming toward the Pegasus. And you will be there. How do you see this first? Major race of the year shaping up that force right now in training maximum very doubt after that case to be made then Omaha Aubenas bunch of wrong especially violent eight might be the second and third bout with McKinsey right there with them so when you get fun to run and Omaha Beach I think he got a pretty darn good race. I mean it's interesting possibilities. Are the horses doing nominated at the box He's done. I'm very well. This is of course. A lot of people east might have remembered with Chad Brown Barrasso. And you know he was good you know. He got coming up. In the minor spot that West to John Adler Verona's ray thing all of a sudden. He's winning all these steaks and eat it. You can't east to Churchill even lost or any blocks. We'll see if he's going to be the ones that they decided to send into the race. It'd be a good one back wizar- people know this story. That fifteen thousand dollars who ran against maximum security and the world's most famous Amos. Sixteen Thousand Dollars Eight lamer and it'll be in there. I think it'll be a big competitive fourth. It doesn't I think have the superstar. One runner arrogate powerpoint chrome Omaha beaches in that category But it's interesting. It's good to get back into talking about racing and Bobby Hall. Nobody better to do it with so. Thank you so much barry. Thank you always chat that with you so when we come back here on the gate. The site of the world's first million dollar horse race is short on dollars and short on time time to secure them. Welcome back to win the gate in July of two two thousand. Nearly twenty years ago Churchill. Downs home of the Kentucky Derby purchased Arlington Park in Chicago for nearly seventy one million dollars. Arlington's owner Dick Duchossois had closed the track in one thousand nine hundred ninety eight and nine hundred ninety nine saying that he could not compete with other gambling businesses. The opened again in May may of two thousand presumably with the knowledge that a sale was coming at the time. Churchill was in something of an arms race against the stronach group. When it came to buying up tracts the idea was to create networks of tracks for simulcasting and cross promotion of races and Events in nineteen ninety nine Churchill bought calder race course in Miami and Hollywood Park in California and then bought fairgrounds in New Orleans in two thousand and four? This was meant to counter the STRANA group which began its buying spree in nineteen ninety eight with Santa Anita then they added Gulfstream Park in Florida. Both major Maryland tracks Laurel and PIMLICO as well as golden gate fields and Portland Meadows and Oregon stronach versus Churchill. Wasn't exactly the Cold War. But the battle lines had been drawn it it seemed that Churchill was the first to blink Churchill dumped Hollywood park like a hot potato in two thousand five just six years after buying it. Churchill said at the time that California has forsaken racing and its needs reports came from fairgrounds in two thousand thirteen that the turf course was too dangerous juris to race and that the track had been poorly maintained ever since the churchill purchase at the same time Churchill was trying any maneuvering possible to get out of its obligation obligation to operate racing at calder. Eventually the STRANA coned Gulfstream Park worked out a lease agreement to run the calder meet in October and November this year. Two Thousand Twenty is the final year of Churchill's obligation to lease the meat after which it may convert the track into a shipping logistics center. Or something like that.

"A lot of you know big trainers come down here with their big stock and you'll see some amazing special weights and and allowance racist for these younger horses. That are really intent on making Kentucky theory. Yeah absolutely For Oaks and Derby fans Musty two year old this month and then on into the three year old races next month. I thought Your your point about Ian will so was a good one. I would echo. He's definitely a horseman. You you do not want to on second time out N- not a Guy. That hasn't crank first time in general though speaking of the Kentucky Horsemen You Know My perspective. Gaza someone who who is at Churchill in September and November With the big purses to Derby City Gaming The these fields were super competitive and obviously dismisses the Churchill People Gulfstream. But you know I I would say I'm much more going to be much more keen on some of these. Churchill shippers you know maybe got caught tougher fields than we're used to seeing that time of year shipping into Gulfstream You know if if the batter's favor the New York or the locally based forces from the summer winter at certain levels there may be some opportunity You know I'm on some longer. Prices and horses should be coming out also ran efforts at Churchill so especially samedan races. you know being fifth beaten two lengths. Maybe by some really good horses who are running for ninety seven thousand dollar aid purse Isn't the end of the world. So that's I'll be keeping in mind in regards to the Churchill Horsemen. That's a great point you know they're just one thing. Churchill's Euler purses have increased not gone up and these horses where everybody was at Church. I'll be nude loaded fields and horses that finished fourth fifth and sixth they can definitely make some noise Coming down here And like you said. A lot of people lean toward the more Do the more popular trainers from New York? You have your pleasures and you Chad. Brown's I mean they always take a bunch of money especially at Gulfstream. I mean obviously they win at a high rate but if you can catch those especially in a sequence like the pig five or pick four those are the separators that will look for more this weekend going to be looking for some separators and just winners in general Top races Obviously don't want to give away the store and it's only only Thursday anyway so not sure how deep you've got through the car but Anywhere in particular. You've Zeroed in on as a potential spice perfection. Sort that Could SORTA hang your head on a yes I do. It's an race ten featured race degree. Three Harlan's holiday. I'm going to go to one of the most famous maidens that we know of now. He's coming back back to back wins at a Gulfstream Park West. And that's the six horse body express super impressed. With the way he's come back Since fiasco into preakness were made them pretty famous. I think they got more airtime than than whirlwind. Did for some reason but this is a nice quality horse. It took him a while to break his maiden once he did. I mean he was a neck behind. Shane Salat sprinting at seven furlongs in February and he came out with a bang up race at seventy one to one behind maximum-security Florida Derby got a wide post in the In the Derby really didn't run much that day the preakness we know about the two races. At Gulfstream Park West. Were Really Nice dispenser the last race. I mean he really poured it on down the stretch. I think he beat a eighteen year old Track record there. I think this horse is moving forward. Perfectly the amount of sixteen bit some right up the alien this seems like a prep for the For the Pegasus next month is also making his third. Start off a break which is an angle. I lean on a lot. I like him. I think you're GONNA get He's going to be a single any. I think you're going to get a decent price on them. I'll take a lot of people are gonNA lean towards pletcher and Johnny v with the one Prince. Lucky Nice horse offset this horses to for two goals during likes it as well but I have a little bit of a question mark with him. Going to to turns I think morning by sheer is single that We can lean on on Saturday Bodey Express Brody Express by boat Meister. Anyway Yeah I agree And we've mentioned maximum security Earlier he won the cigar amount. Of course you said beat Bodey expressed in the Florida Derby and it seems Gusts were finally maybe getting a hint of some talent in the the older male division now bodey express in maximum security. Both three right now But looking ahead to next year Seems like we might actually have some some star power in division. That sorely lacked it. This year I totally agree with that. these resources promising horses a few more out there that are finished a year. Strong and little lightly raced in to see her chance of. That's changed a lot boats or winstons coming back and run on the turf at the fairgrounds at the end of the year. And he's looking at a at a four zero campaign as well the Belmont winner so interesting to see how he comes back for. Casey and I think it's it's a promising division going in Into next year for sure. Yeah and my My Derby pick By my standard to has not been seen since Is Back on the work TAB so not sure. He belongs in that breath yet but Good good to see some surnames coming back and while we were were talking actually saw the Personal favorite of mine. Sister Charlie Coming back for twenty twenty two so I think With keeneland being the Breeders Cup host that that has some people may be staying and training in. And you get A. It's not really home game for sister. Charlie trained by Chad Brown or New York. But you get to run you know in front of in front of the industry basically at Keeneland so Good good to see Bright now A value of potential stars Returning for twenty twenty any other thoughts on call stream or playing winter racing in general. I mean winner racing to me I I'd like to turf dude like turf racing Pretty much stick with a goal stream and Tampa but major can't go wrong with turf race especially at night. The timing is right as soon as these racist finish and in Florida a goal of turquoise usually six oh five post time and you got full fields low takeout in both the the pick four pick FIS. I mean you got wide open races. I mean all you have to do just connect one of those could make the meat for you can make your like you said it could make your year. I mean there. There's some big prices out there. You've got to keep on grinding. I think turf away now. is is a is a major player in the winter season. Now without a doubt and Wednesday's pick four pick for paid thirty five thousand and I only went one for four but the the race I was narrowest in I did get home And again that guy could have had it but I missed the other three. They were tough but if it may be you know I had one other decent opinion about a long shot. Then you you know I mean you. Just start to think and you know to me. It's not a matter of I was I 'cause I probably wouldn't even be talking about it for any sort of. Oh I could have had that for thirty five thousand but just seeing you know a track put up those kind of payouts somewhat consistently. I mean you know not always said hi but you'll get the pick fives that pay five figures. Probably half the time I'd say pick for the thousands and you know the fourteen percent take out that helps but nothing more frustrating and admittedly. It's been a bit with you. Know some tracks Race days shrinking. You know you get more competitive where the horses do end up. But there was a time. They're trying to think maybe six seven years ago where it was getting frustrating with the the string of just you know two three one winners steadily and you're playing for five hundred dollars pick bores and you know it's nice to hit when you're playing the big exotics you like to think you're in with the shot at some sort of big payoff oh for sure and then opportunities there for sure this meat. It's the I mean their field sizes. I think he posted it on twitter the other day. They feel sizes some of the largest in the country. So I mean you get the you got the horses air. A lot of You know with the purse money being what it is now in Kentucky a lot of the a lot of outfits have a string their big outfits have a string there and that also attracts Some more you know fans and some more money than those pools. That's I think. What's what makes a difference now. A turf ways. is definitely a must look must play On on the weekdays and the weekends for sure especially the timing like I said the timing is just perfect to I think They don't compete against the big boys during the middle of the day. And they got it all to themselves. The King of the You know pretty much twilight night night. Ration- absolutely all right well. I'm looking forward to enough there as I told you previously. There's a skyline to bring it full circle. The we started right across right across the street. So that yeah that's always a fun double and They have low out there to fourteen and fifteen percent. Multi-race wagers but Certainly looking forward to seeing your thoughts on Gulfstream out Saturday I believe they're pick five fifteen percent so Another another good opportunity down in south Florida and I agree with you Bodey Express I do think is On the fast track so to speak to Certainly being one of the the logical contenders in the Pegasus. So we'll see Omaha. Beach comes back in a couple of weeks at Santa Anita but Yeah looking to be a a good group down there and Throw in the three-year-old Pratt's coming up as well and show ever talk about that. Sounds great do looking forward to always excited about winner racing?.

"Now here's your host and Derosa. Welcome back to the how to bet horse racing. Podcast is we Get set to close out. Twenty nineteen at the end of the calendar year means the start of the racing season championship wise. Anyway at Gulfstream Park looking forward to welcoming and Gus Alonzo to talk about the championship me at Gulfstream Park as well as stakes action this Saturday. Gus How you doing great Enter your host going down here. Yeah just had skyline for lunch so things are going really well for me very nice. Yeah so Yeah you you pick the horses but al forever take pride touting you on skyline and get you to take the plunge all that that was a triple crown winner. They're good stuff for sure. Well Would be remiss if we mentioned some good stuff from last week Hopefully helped some people connect the dots at acqueduct. I know in your spotlight selection sheet. You did give out the pick six and I believe there was a single involved fire. Remember there was. It was in the in the second leg in the grade. Three Gopher One spice perfection. She came through Pay The four eighty but to me. She was a stand out. And you know once she got to the Front Pretty much cruised and pretty one pretty complimentary and I. I was expecting that I was glad she came through. Always need those singles in those Multi-race wagers you do I mean really. If you're you're playing on a budget and never really. I used to be really averse to to forcing single. That always seemed like a bad thing to do but talking to Sometimes twitter malcontents but often I've I've learned is is really sharp when it comes to stuff like this but inside the pylon to Really won me over on the idea that if you're single that that lets you extend elsewhere in it. It's really gossip and talking to someone else about this last night. When Turf Way Park put up those big balloons e finding that separator is really you know what lead you to the payoffs that can make you know your month your year. A lifetime in some instances And I just found. There's there's no sense not leaning on a horse if if you either really like them and they can't lose to use the cliche or you just think they're you know the complete value the sequence and getting that one home can really opened things up for you later and You know spice perfection. Death four eighty as an eye catching number but when it lets you go deeper in racists. They're going to have the twenty thirty dollar winners that that to me is the difference in profit and loss in the long term. Exactly I mean for example here on the first leg on Saturday at acqueduct was a mandatory payout on the empire. Six in the first leg was a maiden special weight race and my second choice was moon over Miami For Mont going. Second time out expected some improvement. You know stretching out and kind of got to one in the morning line and Kinda stayed right. There actually moved up a little bit ended up paying a twenty one forty which was a very nice prices start to the sequence and then Spicer's faction was the second leg as we mentioned in the third leg was tricky race it was it was Another maiden special weight which Ended up going to the favourite trash talker Horse had a few opportunities and he was able to get it done as well. I mean he only paid for eighty as well which is little short. Go onto the Third Leg Indiana de Moselle. Think this Lake Avenue. She was able to set really Saw fractions nobody really went with her. And that's kind of my right up. That's what I thought was going to happen. It's beautiful thing when that does happen. She was a she was out there. nobody really went with her and junior. Alvarado did a great job. She ended up paying ten eighty in. I just thought that was fantastic. Ride and I was kind of puzzled that nobody really went after her in that race. But I was glad to see that You know I was only. I was only three deepen that race and then going through the Renton Shop Ski. It'll horse. You're you're very familiar from Churchill. Downs ran into the street sense. And you know that that race turns and looks like it could be a race turned out the winner of the Kentucky Jockey Club. He scratched you know from from the Kentucky Jockey Club for this and I mean reading a super race another great ride by Sayas and he ended up in nineteen sixty took a little money. Who's fifteen to one in the morning? Line got better but he was my second choice in very nice horse. Looks like very promising horse moving forward in the last leg I was only to Deepa obviously had to use. Maximum Security I got this love affair. We're looking at bikinis in burned. Me Again I think he ended up being fourth. I had them in a travers as well I mean he looked so impressive that Keelan and that allowance when I thought the one turn Cigar Mile. Be Perfect for him. He was kind of in the race early. But kinda faded a little bit at the end in maximum security. I mean proved. He's the best three year old in the country. I think he wrapped up the championship. And what another big effort and he paid four sixty so you have. Horses paid four eighty four eighty and four sixty. The Empire six ended up paying sixty three hundred over sixty three hundred dollars on a on the twenty cent yeah it was fantastic payout for basically three sub three to two horses and Your ticket had it in. The spotlight selections That was one hundred twenty dollar play a colleague of mine hit it and I think could one hundred forty four into it and neither you nor him actually single maximum security which If if I had played Sarah it was kind of a day. I didn't get to dig in as much as I would like. I'd be shocked if I personally would win any deeper. The maximum security. Who in retrospect was a poor twenty I thought was Was a fair price. it's hard to see how many times it after run that race before he gets. Beat maybe you know eventually more than just spun around tries to go with them but again nothing like completely illogical but you know again just Certain races beating. You know the grouping of horses that most of the public is going to be on and you know you said right off the rip that twenty Plus Dollar Winter You already playing for for some big bucks after that so manageable sequence but at the same time paid really well Which is kind of the the type of payoff. I've been chasing at Churchill on these mandatory days I'm take five days and just haven't haven't put it together or you know chalk out a few times and and didn't pay as much as you would like When you have these big carryovers but that's part of the game too but certainly Came together at Akwa doctor and a half to think we're GONNA be seeing some similar situations down the road at Gulfstream. Yeah I think so. They have a similar races. And I mean there seems like there there rainbow six just inflates from one week to another. It's one week go zero. Three hundred thousand a week. I think it's getting close to that now. So it's pretty impressive. How much money is betting? Bit into it. there's a four graded stakes on Saturday. And if Listed stake as part of an eleven race card which you'll be covering for brisk snap before we get into that though. Costs just wanted to get your general thoughts on how you approach Gulfstream Obviously every meets different and You know some familiar horsemen for anyone who follows the New York and Kentucky circuits But obviously just plays differently and More than any other marquee tracker meeting I would say Gulfstream as just the the widest range of races You know get those bottom level claimer on the turf even Just get a wide range of Florida bred Florida horsemen and then of course the Higher End New York and Kentucky guys come out so a lot of different ways zig zag in the multi-race wagers what's What's sort of your starting point with any Gulfstream card? Yeah there's no doubt I mean you you explained it pretty well there but obviously I dick a lot of respect for the horsemen that come from Kentucky that seems to me it. The Churchill track translates well to Gulfstream throughout the years. And it's been that way for years I know in Wilkes. Sometimes his horses Bb been you know. He likes to put a little bit of of bottom into them. Why in Kentucky especially his younger horses and when he comes to go from he can pop in some for some reason. There's so many big names and I think the the Newark trainers with the big names. He might get lost. You might get lost in the shuffle and sometimes you get a horse of his pay twenty thirty dollars and he does that every beat but it is a unique Meeting because you have all these jockeys come from different areas to you gotta you know jockeys from woodbine coming down from monmouth. The New York ones you have left Peru and landeros coming in from Churchill. It's just a you have to have a like a wide open wide. Open mind going into it and pick your spots and know what You know the strain says the especially the trainers trainer angles. Lot their strengths and how they develop horses. I think he can't some price. Is doing that another thing. They've put into the new turf course last year. It's a celebration grass. It's a lot stronger and I know. In years past the grass has been chewed up. Even early in the meet has been really chewed up but this grass the last couple of years especially this year. I was out there on Sunday for career day. Turf course looks really really good and it looks like it's going to hold up. You know for the long meat so why. They have a lot of opportunity to move the rail wherever they want. But I think that's a major difference. I have noticed early in the meet that a lot on the turf sprint. They do run a Lotta Tur- sprints at five for longs and you WANNA be upfront or right near the front. I haven't really seen anybody come from behind or make that middle move Early in the meat. That's one thing I'm keeping an eye on it as well. The dirt as we know usually plays for speed but but there has been some closers coming in as well so I think the the you know the track has been fair Scott no a lot of you know big trainers come down here with their big stock and you'll see some amazing special weights and and allowance racist for these younger horses..
Belinda Alleges Frank’s `Fanciful Schemes’ Eroded Stronach Family Empire
"As the story goes frank stronach arrived in Canada from his native Austria in Nineteen fifty four with two hundred hundred dollars in his pocket and the hope of opening a tool and die shop that shop eventually became the auto parts company MAGNA international which made Strana on a billionaire frank then got involved with thoroughbred racing owning both racehorses and eventually race tracks today the Strana group the spinoff off company for many of the Families Racetrack Operations Owns Gulfstream Park in Florida both tracks in Maryland Loral and Pimlico home of the preakness and of course source the great race place Santa Anita among others over the years. Some of Frank stronach's race track plans heavy listed quizzical looks with one example being the thirty million dollar price tag for the Pegasus statue outside of Gulfstream his daughter Belinda though has done more than look quizzically. Belinda is now the chairman and President of the stronach group and she is suing her father for over five hundred million dollars. She claims claimed that francs pet projects as she calls them have lost the company huge sums of money frank has counter-sued saying that Belinda and a former business partner appropriated family funds for their personal benefit good grief. What will this family feud mean for the Strana Group Group and by extension for the entire thoroughbred industry here in the United States since T S G controls so many influential tracks to people who were quite familiar with the business dealings of the strategic group are writers Joe Connor and Barbara Sector of the financial post a Canadian based publication and we welcome Miss Scheckter and Mr O'connor here to win the gate. Let's start with Mr O'connor. Each side accuses the other of financial malfeasance. What facts do we know through all of this bluster. Well what we do know is what the suit alleges and what I'm frank is accusing blend end of is misappropriating funds and essentially locking him out of the company that his money built and what Glenda is same is. That's not the case and in her countersuit. She's saying well you know. The Truth is here is my dad and I'm quoting is is she's called them idiosyncratic idiosyncratic and often unprofitable side ventures meaning that she believes that her father has a frittered away money on then any projects such as an organic beef farm in California and on a fancy bike electric bike and on other things and that has put the company in jeopardy and that in order to see rescue the company's fortunes. She has to keep her father at arm's length from it. It's a giant. He said see she said as long as that's floating out there and working its way through the court system. It's going to mean some uncertainty. I think the the thing that is sure is that there's going to be continued uncertainty until this gets resolved so so. Michelle after financial controversy has followed the strongbox for quite a while even going back to two thousand ten when they were paid basically to leave magna and it seemed like a little unusual to say the least I mean what do things like this say about the nature of their business dealings things in their character especially as relates to their employees. Well I mean it was very unusual and it was quite controversial in Canada just because because of the the quantum the amount of money that they paid to collapse this dual share structure which gave the Straw nics way more votes per share than other shareholders. I mean it was a common structure in Canada and it's even sort of picking up steam right now in the US and a little bit back in Canada because it allows sort of families as an entrepreneurs to retain control but in the case of Magna and at the time it was an unpopular structure and companies were being pressured to drop it it and stronach agreed to collapse it and leave the company but he demanded what summit called a king's ransom to do so and he was not willing to bend on that it ended up going for Securities Commission and also through the courts with some of the large institutional shareholders like pensions demanding that you know that he takes less money that it was far too much money but he was unyielding and he walked away with exactly what he negotiated with the company who cares what at the institutional shareholders who've been there for varying amounts of time want so it was the same when he was running the company he did things his way he took you know large paychecks and defended them telling people that maybe he even deserved more than he was taking so certainly as strong willed and you know willing to keep pushing his way and getting it so that certainly is the type of personality. We're talking about here. It's a it's not a shrinking violet on either of their counts. What about the potential cultural difference at work here since you have the self made father and daughter who was born into wealth. I think that's a huge the dividing line you see frank who was a child in wartime. Austria who comes to Canada panelists our near to it and has the Moxie to build a company that goes through the roof in terms of its value he built this thing with his hands and I met with them for lunch going going back into the spring and what he said at the time and he wasn't GonNa go deep into the weeds of the actual legal case he wasn't gonNA roll mud necessarily Elliot his daughter but what he did say quite clearly and what was evident in our conversation was that he truly believed that he'd built this. This was whose baby as it were and that his children his daughter and son and their children should be entitled to some of that well but in the form of of a and inheritance in the form of what I think the figure he quoted to me was like I will give my children one hundred million dollars each and they can go on build their own legacy. I can see whereas frank sees. The He sees the race tracks. TST owns he sees the empire as I've been been built by his his money and he believes that he should have the keys to the empire and be able to drive you in whatever direction he

"That's two for two lifetime. Both raises came at Tampa. He ran a nice race. Last time in the Columbia stakes seismic. Wave was impressive winning the Cutler bay at Gulfstream Park from well off the pace not a good pay situation. Usually at Gulfstream, you usually wanna be forwardly placed but seismic waiver and really good that day, and of course, eighties flatters in there too who won four out of five races a lifetime. So a very tough race the American it's going to be exciting to watch looking forward to that one a lot the tenth race on the derby day card, if formerly called the derby trial now the Pat Day mile and probably one of the heavier favorites on the day, Instagram. Is back and he's gonna make his first start ever in Kentucky. Good third place finish behind roadster and game winner in the Santa Anita derby in his last start shortening up to a mile. I think he's going to be able to get the lead. And we're probably going to get to be Instagram that we've all been waiting to see. Yeah. He's a very nice horses by into mischief out of a lawyer on mayor was first to racist by ten links will look like he's going to be the one his owner decide to give a little rest. They got behind points that they could make the derby. So this is going to be his consolation. And then the last of the undercard stakes the old I or turf classic great one event with a million dollar purse mile eighth on the turf in the Chad Brown trainees, certainly figured to take most of the money bricks and mortar with Iran Ortiz in their raging bull. Who's also in good form, but a very contentious field. Chad's also got Ticonderoga if to wasn't enough. He's got three in there in curious Qurban who has. As an outside chance. If one of the chats doesn't win. Well, we're we're wrapping up our week on the backstretch here at Churchill Downs. Of course, great coverage live both oaks and derby day coming up right here on the horse racing radio network. We've been talking about it all week. I know you've been talking about it on other shows. Final points on this year's Kentucky Derby, how are you going to play the race in? How do you see? It's shaping up. Well, I still like game winner. I've liked him for quite a while. And I'm gonna put him on top with a bunch of horses underneath and probably in the exact depending on what price he is all Benham straight as well. But you know, I think I think he's a solid horsey. He likes his track. I think he's going to be super tough. He's by candy. Right. Who's a tremendous either for Churchill Downs racing. So that's how I see where do you want? If you like game win, or where would you like to see him into the first turn and I'd like to see him like fourth or fifth probably somewhere forwardly placed but not too far back. You know, I just clean trip is all I really want. I'm thinking the same thing. I like one of the other Baffert trainees improbable both game winner. Improbable have looked fantastic all week. I think improbable loves this racetrack. And I think we're gonna he's going to fire his big shot. And I think we both think. Win win win has at least a little bit of a shot. Not only win. But you know, I mean, not only the hit the board. But actually win the race. Yeah. Definitely a punchers chance there for well. "The here comes the bride goes race number eight here at Gulfstream Park. Tomorrow grade three hundred fifty thousand on the line for. Three year old Phillies going to mile and a sixteenth. Yeah. It's kind of the beauty and the beast race the beauty being Cherie devoe who runs her first stakes horse ever in Premiera promos coming over here from France. She has a ninety five racing post rating, which is pretty good. That's great three material which is right where she's running. Joe Rosario takes the reins. That's a good sign. Philly getting Lasix for her US debut. She had a bullet workout coming into this on my birthday at pace park. So I'm I'm going with her on top. Chad's got the six seven and eight all of which have chance goal Kanda who has very similar form to promote Ella. Got a ninety two racing post rating. She's also getting Lasix Cambier park. She won by four last time out of Gulfstream, very impressive. Victory. Her first race on the turf. And then connectivity who actually got a turf figure better than par for this level in her debut. She won by three quarters of length and really was impressive because she came from off the pace and was very professional. You don't see that in in distance races for young horses, but race was visually pleasing. And I think she's got a big chance to so really good race. I'm I'm excited to watch these Phillies run. Yeah. I was really excited that she came to your part comeback. I loved her turf debut last time out I thought she was just named margin named. Just as easy as a horse could win and I've been waiting on back. And I think she's going to dust these horses unless goal con the comes over as an is the goods or maybe Premila, I don't like betting horses coming over from Europe that are going around two turns she sprinted our whole life G a lot of she ran seven times its year old last year. Yeah. I think I think came to your park is just gonna bury these if I'm being honest. I didn't see it that wide open. If you're dead, you're going to get paid. And he had because I think came be park is going to be a very short price where it's better than a long face all over kmby park in race eight tomorrow three. Here comes the bride stakes got a skip all the way down to raise number. There's a real good maiden race, by the way going as raced and all costs antastic with those good maiden race in race. "Details, we'll wrap our Gulfstream Park coverage for tomorrow with the classical del Koreb. Those is race number eleven. Mile and an eighth three hundred thousand on the line. We have horses from Venezuela. Panama, Mexico, Puerto Rico. All over the Caribbean field of ten of and among and Panama. That being said, I'm going to Mexico. Take me to the border of Mexico that area Krista crossville you he's making a comeback show. Wow. I have no idea. I'm not an expert on Christopher cross catalog. I remember buying the the the one album that he did. And he's probably done more than that. Yeah. He's making a comeback. I don't know if I ever saw him in concert. I can't remember back that far. I know I haven't definitively. No, I have not thirteen for thirteen our school newspaper. When I was in high school was was very proactive in in entertainment coverage. We were the school to have a horse racing column. Written by me and one of my good friends. Brad Rison who's been in the music business is whole life. He was he was the music critic, and we used to go to a lot of shows together. Okay. So about I don't remember seeing Christopher cross in person. Well, here's the Mexican triple crown winner. There is cool. Can you say cool, cool Clin? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, he's well just a lot of pressure for Iran hopping on a horse thirteen for thirteen. No question about you. Screw that up or brother. Yeah. He's he's pretty good. The horse to is outside. I think is the horse. He has to worry about El Cerro. This coming off a big win at camera in October. And he's he's running in some tough customers, and he maybe has a little bit of hanging. He's not not quite as aggressive as the Mexican triple crown winner. But he's capable certainly. So those are the two, but man thirteen thirteen I wish I was down there. I should've stayed the extra week. I don't know much about these horses. I dunno running style. He has Kokin. I wish I did. Well, he's he's obviously not a deep clubs. That. I think it'd be cool tomorrow. Like he was making a big run. If it was like, cook Kokin cuckoo cuckoo Kuchen Kaos gay. I hope Pete does that if that's what's happening. The the break the district. I took Bukowski I like the outside dry like Seattle our meal. First time Lasix, you know, the horses getting the lease X for the first time. They always intrigued me these ration-. Unfortunately, there's six of the out of the ten so you kind of have to handicap at a little as well. You can't just say, I I'm gonna take the first time Lasix, but Bukowski seemed to have beaten the better ones in here. So I'll try him. All right. It'd be the favorite. But yeah, I'd use the two of them. And I would use a piece dose the number eight because Lewis is ride north. That's it. I mean that guy just does nothing wrong golfing park. So how do you dead heat for the win in your last two starts? I don't know if he dead heated for the win or if they just didn't have margins. You'll see that sometimes see that because even even in his maiden races. Not oh, he's got another dead heat down there. They don't have a track, man. They don't have the one two threes. Gotcha. Okay. LS down to margin. Feraud's five. That good classical. They'll Kareem goes race number eleven three hundred thousand on the line in very international flavor down at Gulfstream tomorrow afternoon out of Los Alamos, the futility goes as race number five grade one for the colts geldings mile and a sixteenth the longest stretch in America..

"Three for two at Gulfstream Park lowers for Lisa is to for four at the distance and is for for ten at Gulfstream Park. So these are horses that are running where where they belong places that they like what you would expect from Horry Navarro. I mean, that's that's the way it goes. But but I've got asked Texans on top flowers. Release a second and I've lost enough money on lose to own them. Kidding? I'll let I'll leave that to Georgia. We'll see what happens, but. You'll even to me. Okay. What are you doing? All. I need this guy to come on. And tell me on Thursday that he likes the best. Like, I've I've I've like as if I wasn't looking for a reason to I pick to my biggest money burners of all time tomorrow timeline in Zulu. And you would think I'm not gonna do it ten to one fifty one. This is the chance I might be able to get out on these doors as long if they hold them win even worse. I'm seriously seriously thinking about I think fifty bucks, I can get all my money back tomorrow. Fifty dollars. Actually, bet it. Much of a fifty to win on time line hoping Linden pays like twenty one dollars. Take like the five fifty Zulu. Hope he wins and pay thirty dollars. I'll get back like eight thousand and I'll be close to even on the club. Whatever. Residual money's leftover. I'll say to myself wanted to wash that's like, the that's like, extra takeout. That's all it is for me. I'll leave the rest of chase it anymore, but fifty bucks close to even. So I think tomorrow the late great John Papa lardo trainer and pick six player from back in the Kellyanne today's he hit the pick six hundred five thousand one day and simply set. Yeah. He broke even for the right? Exactly. Yeah. I'm gonna use. I pick for in a pick five guy. I'm gonna use a three judge of horses. Could even make a case for the one right between the two of them Christian David now, he's probably at the point is career where he needs a little moisture on the track, but he's run well at Gulfstream in the past in other races on his card. They're slower aces. But he's liked Gulfstream in the past. I don't know. The racist. In the middle of the pack me six seven eight nine. He talked me into making. We talked about some quarter crack issues that he's fixed now. And I mean, it's you wanna talk about getting a story. He will you would've been you would be. Mortgage in the the house to bet on the Navarro story on on Thursday. So I'll make Zulu the top pick for old time sake. If fern enough or anything else, and like you sucker for a good story, and I'll use all used the form middle horses. Six seven eight nine as flowers Felisa Christian. David my copy Zulu that is the claiming crown jewel. More time. Equine farm juden mock auto tomorrow morning, eight to ten AM afternoon free thirty to five thirty Jude and Chuck Simon the coverage of the claiming crown races presented by red brand fence, and it's all on serious nineteen XM to a one and racing radio dot net will take one more break when we come back. We'll wrap up the program with a Saturday and Sunday stakes. Couple of grade ones outweigh the turf meets to surfers they wrap things up at the Bing..

"The old heart knocking delta blues Mun called home on the old hawed knocking Jason beam. Welcome back to the equine form here on H, R R and the big a and the pontiff and the beamer Jason beam. Nice enough to join us now from south Florida not too far from Gulfstream Park west where he's made his triumphant return to the announcer's booth after three and a half year. High aid is Jason it's Anthony Jude here on the equine forum for some time this morning. I appreciate you guys. Having me on. Yeah. I'm I'm actually about twenty feet from the Pegasus statue right now. How awesome is that thing? Panna cool. I got I remember when I came out. I thought it was pretty ridiculous. And I guess it is kind of ridiculous. But it's I I love it. Like I drive by every time. I if I'm staying right across the street in every day. I drive by it. I smile it's a it's a magnificent sight to see in. It is a it's kind of a balance between over the top. And and really cool. I think it's it's it's an amazing thing in some beautiful pictures have been taken of it over the years in in all different kinds of weather. Yeah. I think Barbara Livingston. That's I think Pegasus her muse. Good. Call. So Jason tell us how this was kind of kept the pretty good lid on this. You of course, everybody most of you know, Jason from Twitter at this point. He has one of the most informative and Ilie entertaining accounts on Twitter at being the awards, and he has his being the awards every year in December talk a little bit. How this how the return came to be? I was I was it's been about be called me about the last week of Gulfstream's the regular Gulfstream meat, and I was actually working on an episode of my podcast. And I saw Pete at calm. I missed it. And so I called him back. And he goes you wanna come fill it results from west because Syria like you thought, maybe I was worried joking. But I mean, this is kind of the time for take vacations things he took a couple of weekends off earlier in the meet and had a few other guys. But I told him I could I could do the the long stretch at the end. And and he was nice enough to offer it. It was really neat. And really really nice if Peter Peter's big heart guy, and I know he he knew that I had kind of given up on the idea of calling ever again. And he said now, you should probably do it for for at least a couple of weeks. So it's it's been really really fun. So far. I read that you you were kind of nervous prohibitive going in first couple of days or whatever. Which is totally a natural thing to be when you've been off that long. But when when did you just like feel like, okay, I got this. How long did it take you? As far as in the last couple of days back to it. I don't know. I don't know that it's still has yet. It's a very hard booth to call from I used the term lightly. I mean, they kind of just have I don't know if you've seen the Senate, but it's kind of like three construction trailers stacked on top of each other. And I'm in the top one. So you're only about twenty feet in the air if that, and it's the angles are to hang out the window to see down the stretch or on the first turn. And so just from visual Sam point, it's really a challenging place to call. And then you throw in the fact that you don't know the horses of the silks very much other than kind of casually following the circuit. And so it's been easily the most challenging place I've had to call racist. But after the first races attest that each race is just get a little more comfortable a little bit more in stride. And I spent a couple of weeks watching the replay shows and just kind of mutant it and then doing practice calls, and I went down a couple of times. And you know, I did this for ten years. And so I kind of.
