"Welcome back into the copes and Crowley podcast. I think I don't carry. We talked about this last week. You being a big football guy? Do you get the mean It's different for you? Because spring training for you is like work like you're getting on a plane. We're actually we're recording this on Thursday morning. February, 11th and Carrie just told me actually, during the break there. He's about to jump on a plane. Go down to Scottsdale. Did you think you'd be flying to Arizona? Dude s so I made it. I actually made a critical mistake, Adam. And this is when you were planning spring training. It was initially in January, and it was OK. Everything is going to start on time. So I buy my flight for you know the weekend before pitchers and catchers you're supposed to report because when pitchers and catchers report Writers get access to the ballpark. We get in there. We're all set to go. And then you find out that maybe they push spring training back and I'm thinking, Oh, maybe I'll have to push my flight back. I don't really have a hotel yet, So we'll figure this out that I find out that okay. It's all starting on time. But writers actually aren't let in for an extra week this year. So the first day that I can be its Scottsdale Stadium isn't until February, 22nd. But the Giants first team workout Today is February 11. So I am going down there. I might just come back. I might come back after the weekend, and we will see, you know, may can't spend enough time in Scottsdale and so we'll see. We'll see. I don't have my hotel reservation starting. So, as you know, I went to Arizona State living off a few friends couches for the week. And reporting on baseball from the Scottsdale area is kind of my story right now. It sounds to me like this is not this is not a work trip. It sounds to me like you're cursing down may have a feeling this is a work trip. This is the work grinding away. When you get there I will be. I will be. I got a ton of interviews scheduled. All I needed just borrow a friend's wife. I said, Well, let's see if we can get some answers because you said to me that there's so many questions around this team, and there are and you know, baseball prospectus puts out there thing with You know what you project the Giants to fit. Shit. I think they had him it at like, 76 wins or something. And yes, I've seen 74 75 76. I have not seen anything in the eighties. So far by the way, can I Can I just make a statement quickly here, and that's the 76 or 77 Win team is the most frustrating team in baseball toe like the 2000. I don't know. Can I offer you like a 2008 San Francisco giants like You mean my favorite San Francisco giants of all time or, you know, come on Jorge Castillo and third base and s. So it was one Benji Molina was hitting his prime. Yeah. Big money in little money, And I want to say problem may have come up the next year, you know, nine Hot? Yes, Yes, I think so. He may have been end of 2008 and had too many at bats to win Rookie of the year in 2009, because he would have been that guy that year. Can I offer you like a Ryan rolling her? Maybe making a new appearance? By the way, That was Brian Bo Cock. The starting shortstop that might have been the year of the Brian Bo Cock was the starting shortstop Kevin Franzen gets hurt in spring training. Omar Vizquel was hurt in spring training, and so they go to the singlet. Shortstop at but you know what came out of that? Oh, a team and in my memory, 08 No. Nine was big for pieces that led to the bullpen run for the World Championships. Sergio Romo. They had to find Guillermo Mota was a guy They brought over in, like, Oh, wait or 09. Danny Santana was around. So serious mottoes your remember you're remembering some guy's better than anybody. How about Alex Hinshaw? That's a lefty. That's a guy who I loved him, said that Bugs Bunny curveball anyway, do lots of questions around this team who's gonna be the closer? Whose baton against Who? In which line up to you. You came up with syriza of kind of like mailbag questions right about about what we should be focused on for this year. Yeah, I've been focused on this writing for the Bay Area News group this week. Bunch of different giants topics that were thrown out there to fans getting their reaction and I want to ask you some of the most burning ones and, of course. The most important place to start when Farhaan Side, he said that the biggest offseason acquisition for the Giants was not actually any players that they've signed or traded for, but his Buster Posey That leads to the question. What can the Giants realistically expect from Buster Posey after he will go 550 days between starts if he starts on opening day for San Francisco. See, this is Ah, I mean, that's probably the biggest question period and not so much like. I don't even think that's the biggest question like like relevant to success for the Giants, But I do think, if poses good or opposes the Posey. We were used to seeing for so many years. Obviously, the Giants are in a much better situation. I think the better question is like What are they looking for? Like you can have your expectations for like we need him to to put up these numbers. But what does he need to do to help this team be successful? He's gonna play Gold Glove defense is just what he does behind the plate. I don't know how much run he's gonna get it First. There's a lot of right handed bats. There's there's no reason for Buster Posey to pick up the first base and spent this year. No reason whatsoever. So the question I have is, Does he end up in a situation like we're watching Warrior basketball right now? Second warrior reference of the pot by the way today. Steph Curry Looks like he's more fresh than we've ever seen. And Draymond Green looks pretty good, too. He had a four game stretch over the last week or so we had 50 assist his legs look good. I think there's something to be said about guys in the N B, A who play year after your deep into the playoffs, putting a lot of extra miles on those legs. The same can be said about Buster Posey in the postseason. For that stretch of years, he comes up in 09 sure, at the end within 2010 in May deep into the postseason, What a World series 12 the exact same thing 14. Same thing, 16 the same thing into the playoffs and all of those times. I think you said this last week outside of the Grand Slam off from that Wait. Oh, so there's not a whole lot of offensive calling cards for Buster Posey in the playoffs, So it's all about how he handles the staff how he handles the defense, how he calls pitches and maybe unrivaled by anybody in the game today outside of Yadi Molina. In ST Louis Buster is the best catcher of this generation. So for me, it's about where he's hitting in the lineup. What are your expectations for the offensive production? So I don't know if he's gonna be like Is it gonna be Steph Curry fresh because he's had this time off, or is he gonna be that hip is just is just still not what it used to be. You know what I mean? I'm really Yeah, I'm really fascinated because I believe it was. Nick Hundley, who said back in 2017 when he was first playing with the Giants came into spring training and said after Hundley had played it course field in Colorado that if Buster Posey was a Colorado rocky, he would win the batting title every year. He is that type of a hitter. He is that type of knowledge plate discipline. Ability to go the other way work with what pictures are giving him and he just wasn't healthy enough in 2017 2018 2019 to really do much damage And now that he will have this year and a half off in between serious baseball competition that's putting stress on his body. Will he return to that level? Where you know he is a 300 hitter? He is a 3 10 guy. We know he's not gonna hit 20 home runs. That's just not happening. He probably won't play enough to hit 20 home runs. Will he catch 100 games? Well, it'll only be 81 games. How quickly will Joey Bart working the next I'm really fascinated..

Kevin Franzen Danny Santana Draymond Green Sergio Romo Nick Hundley Omar Vizquel Adam Guillermo Mota Alex Hinshaw Benji Molina Jorge Castillo 2017 Steph Curry Hundley 2009 Brian Bo Cock Joey Bart 81 games Yadi Molina 100 games

If they've got him going back to backs. It'll be interesting to see Adam. I want to move on to pressing question Number two, and that is speaking of the lineup. Speaking of where Buster Posey's hitting. I do believe it'll be much lower this year than it was under Bruce Bochy is the Giants lineup better? Against right handed pitchers or left handed pitchers. Keep this in mind against righties. You'll see Brandon Crawford, Brandon Belt, Tommy Lost Ella Alex Dickerson. Maybe new trade acquisition. Lamont weighed against lefties. It'll be Donovan Solano, Donnie Barrels. Wilmer Flores, Darren Rough, Austin Slater and Marie She. O D. Bon..

"Only Khun beat all these deals I found. That's right. This weekend Video on Lee's got great deals on the best TVs. So let's check them out or will be sorry. All right. Welcome back to the pre game show Adam Copeland on with Bill Lasky, filling it for Marty Lurie. Adam. We went through the offensive side. Let's talk a little bit about that bullpen what we saw yesterday. Garcia Kun, Rod got Watson and Rodgers and particularly, I want to talk about Garcia Garcia has kind of been the quiet lefty. That's kind of joined in the bullpen and really put some good numbers. What do you think about Jarland Garcia. It's funny. He's a guy. I was gonna say you mention those names that you guys that stand out for me where he and Dan brought yesterday. I really like you so elated and Left handed asset for them. I know yesterday they used him a little bit earlier came in. He just sort of finished off that walk after Trevor Cahill fallen behind 30, but I really like him. I think he's putting together a competitive outings almost every time he's been using Wandy parole, So I think in the earlier innings sort of those bridge innings, and I think it would have used it had they not used in two days ago yesterday, but I really like Harlan. I think right now he throws the ball pretty well. He came over from Florida, I think or Miami was very well before, but I think right now there's still kind of figuring out Open, and I know Kaplan said that yesterday where we kind of think you used the word Explorer. That's a good Kappler line. They're they're exploring. Of course, that's running. That's an experiment. No for that together, exploring their conversations going on at home, and you know where we'll go without. I know what's going on. And he was like finding some assets. You know, you gotta throw Specially with young bullpen arms of no track records throwing big innings, which is what they're looking for. This year. They're spearmint and trying to figure out where their next four of guises and back before the Giants have the World Series run. They didn't sort of the same thing. And Bruce Bochy had to go through the young guys to find Sergio Romo. They stuff a guy or serious mottoes and Danny Santana. They brought in a veteran guy like Guillermo Mota, but they were sifting through a lot of young number. The left hander Al It's Inshallah and Jack Cashner. You're brilliant. Some heat to me today. That was a great They had figured these guys out of here their roles would be, and I think that's what the Giants are going through. Now with a guy like Sam Kumaran. He's got stuff where I mean, he's electric. He's fun to watch pretty much every time he's out there because he's filling up the strike zone with incredible stuff right now, and he's got a fast ball touches cripple did it, So I think there's reason to be excited about some of these guys. I just don't know yet where their roles sort of polish out right where they're going to land in that deal Test. Adam Copeland joining me today, Bill last you filling in for Marty Larry, one of the things that I did, and you know this I filled in the last couple of years at a river cats doing TV there and I had a good chance to talk to Sam Kun Rod when he came up. He came to me. Could I do it? Do you think I can pitch in the big leagues, and I'm so sure you've got electric stuff, and his biggest outcome was his confidence. He didn't have the built in confidence of am a triple A Can I go one more level up, and I think that's what I'm kind of hearing with Kappler saying, Hey, he's got electric stuff. He doesn't have to pitch to the corners. He decides to throw a strike and Yesterday, throwing one on one with a cutter around 96. He dropped a changeup in to get out of the inning. Those air the innings that build confidence in you and I both have seen this out of him, but it's the consistency. It's the repetition that he has to do. Don't you agree that Yeah, I totally agree with that. It's kind of what we were talking about What Trevor got even right yesterday, trying to build his confidence back up innings. That artist high stress and actually, they put him in a spot yesterday where he had to get about right and wrong. Help protect the weed yesterday, so I thought that was value. But Cocoon Rod, it's what do you make sure like the confidence thing. We talked to him in Scottsdale before they shut down spring training when we were out there in February or early March, and he was talking to us about. He's from a little little Podunk town in Illinois, where there's like once one traffic light those of the brother, he said his older brother was the one like the county icon was like this flame throwing huge pitcher was supposed to be this guy, and it turned out that Sam Ended up being the better player and now he's the guy in the big leagues, So it's funny. I wonder where that confidence stuff comes back to just always thinking I'm in my brain. My big brother. Shadow may be and I won't be the guy to make it to no hearings, and he's got the stuff to succeed. But, as you said, did, Kappler said, his stuff was maybe better than intensities. He doesn't have to paint. It doesn't have to get cute and nibble on the corners. He could come right at you. As long as he's throwing strikes, he could be dangerous. And you know, Adam that some of the things that happened in a 60 game season where you're really pushing a lot of these guys through the minor leagues, where they're not learning themselves and learning stressful situations, and that's one guy that went Right from a ball to Triple A and next thing, you know, he was in the big leagues and he got injured. And you know those are the things that we don't understand how I do as a pitcher that that went through the minor leagues, the learning stages But these guys have pushed themselves so fast. And then they want results. And I think the mental side of it really is the negative. When it get to these young guys, you look a Tyler Rogers. Here's a guy that was a three time PCL All Star. And now he's your closer out of big league team. So these guys are rushed through a lot of things, and and I really believe the mental side of the game is something they need to sit back and kind of learn from the veterans. Well, you took the words out of my mouth and that like I think that we overlooked the mental aspect of of pro athletes in general, like it's hard for us for me to put myself in that mindset or to figure out what a guy's going through. I've never played it that high of a level right. It's hard to you just mentioned Why Tyler Rogers, for example, he was an All Star three times and was never given a shot at the big so at one point, that sort of hit his confidence where, he says What am I doing wrong? I'm doing everything that was asked to be a putting up numbers, making all Star appearances. And then maybe you get a nod like we mentioned Chris Show yesterday. Here's a guy with 70 fiver 72 Big League plate appearances. He was a first round draft pick. You gotta wonder about his confidence and guys like that, where they maybe get a cup of coffee and then never get another opportunity because you're constantly trying to play match ups and Manage..

"Hey, put one on the warning track. I mean, is that you get a bullet points for the debate. Polly didn't used to be the warning track number is closer. Now. You know what I mean? 95 days. I call my roommate a month ago. I said, what are you doing? He says I got this vee are well. Pornography. Yeah, There he is. Well, ah, Forward, five says always enjoyed that McCovey Cove viewing area. But after watching the first couple games is here. I'm hoping they have Plexi glass there next year so we can watch and enjoy the new band box there. Hold on, say that again what He's forward. Vices have always enjoyed the port walk, viewing the maybe they should, He says. They could put some plexiglass in there to wall off the wind, and you could still see the game. Yeah, Boy, That's the only thing about last night. That's unfortunate is that there wasn't a crowd to enjoy that game because that's kind of that's the kind of night like you we talk about like the games. You just remember as a kid and just carry them around for the rest your light and state like that's a kind of game last night that could. That could have been a lifelong memory for for young kids. If they were at that game, it's for example, we did a color and I did it. This state Giants history essay that had copes foaming at the mouth. He was so excited which was it It was an 09 walk off their August 12 or something because he was like a puppy dog jumping down in the hole is like and then this happened, and then that happened, and then this eggs I was at that game. That was a great game who hits a walkoff who read a hit the one on one rebate. The reason I remember it, it was a Linthicum start Both. He got tossed and Wotus got tossed. And then Tim Flannery had to finish the game is manager Tim Flung and I think What happened is flan walks out to go Talkto Lincecum and let's just hand him the ball and you thought he was getting yanked until he walked off the hill. Everybody started booing, and then Flannery The pan but a rebate walked it off off of future giant Guillermo Mota. You just did it. This date just yet. Touching leads to come in this in that I had to know. He went eight and 2/3. So that means that the 2/3 was when he walked off and flan didn't know. Really. I didn't mean to pull my dog surprise. Here. Take the ball. Dude. Here you go. I'm done. Five won. A lot of people checked in on the turtleneck. I want to get to the giant sound on the other side of that a lot of chicken on the back, okay? And you know what? I remember five witnesses. That certainly is a good look on some players, he says. And by the way, you guys didn't even mention the money. Lock turtleneck, Which is another thing that is a whole other conversation mid nineties. Probably. What did it was known to occasionally throw on a mock turtleneck in the 95 96 quarter pole? It's serious. Yes, Well, you're not alone, buddy. No, I had him too. But there's no getting around that. But, you know, I used to rock. You know what? This. I just got the strongest image in my head of the best lookin turtleneck and MLB history. He wore it almost every week night in the summer from 86. The 93 baby with the high black will freaking Clark. I was a monster black turtleneck where it's. It's set off the White jersey they wore. It looks so we're good, dude, great card, and there's two bonds is launched. It'll definitely used to rock the turtle, the turtle neck with the short sleeves where guys rocked that turtleneck up. That's a weird looking weird. What is he doing that you guys you know, I could see, like with an incredibly tight sleep a short sleeve mock turtle like ladies and gentlemen, Come on down, Tim Ryan? Yeah, it goes like my mark. You guys couldn't you see him wearing one of those like under his blazer, guns flying a big Mick and everything Cobalt talking like veins. Like big veins on his bicycle. Take out my brain. Yeah, Yeah. Niners. Niners in turtleneck Stayed away came here. I believe. I believe 16 has been seen in a turtleneck. Polly. I'm pretty sure I've seen Ronnie. I think Iranian turtle Merton Hanks and help the neck white shirt elected. That's the guy that's the guy code. Jimi Hendrix of Turtleneck Core Alliance is wearing a turtleneck is like having a really weak person trying to strangle me, and that's okay. I got Tio choke 0.530 says Shout out 19 nineties, Dwayne The Rock Johnson turtleneck and Gold chain Lonely Island. You guys know that at all. I don't but I could see it in 95 says the neck gators. Yeah, they're called Gator Mask. I didn't know that. I don't know why, but the call Gator mouth is they're really good for work when you have to keep taking them off and put them on there. The only reason I wear that one is well, Paul. When you saw me I had a mask on you, did ya? There was a massive. There were stylish, though you have, like a slit eye was made by a friend of cans Can't drop by the house and put him in our mailbox haven't taken that step into fashionable more. Then I went to tea and be sport. Shut out. TMB sports. When back when stores opened in June, you know and and shut up to Anthony Bruce Adia TNB. He just walked up to me and just Chuck this thing into my chest and it was a tomato, pious, high red tailed hawks Gator mask, and he's like that's for you, buddy. So that's what I go to NYU. Where that one all the time and it is hella convenient have to say to up and down on the neck and and then you walk around looking like Solano. Yeah, Yeah, a little bit. Okay, listen, we got to get into some postgame sound. What did strips you have to say after that one last night. We have shown us this in the power hour Provident credit unions $100 Visa gift card giveaways so more reliving a magic night. Next can hear one of your.

"Maybe. And then he also hit Marco Scutaro in the pinky finger and broke his pinky. Um so I came in the game. It had kind of gotten a little bit lopsided. And you know, you obviously want to stick up for your teammates on DH. Make sure that you send a message back, okay? This is not really gonna be stood for so I hit McCutchen and it was in the lower body. It was in the lower lower ass and I got ejected, served my three games and when I ended up getting a waiver traded over the Pittsburgh Clint Hurdle Before I could put my jersey on for the first game of my Pirates tenure asked me to go and make sure everything was smooth over with Andrew McCutchen 2017. It was actually pretty funny. Any was all good with that. He had put it behind it, as had I, but you know the gate. You always want to stick up for your teammates, because regardless of what the media or whoever is saying about you the respect that you really want our 25 guys or in this case right now, 30 guys in that clubhouse with you Those are the ones that are that are super important, especially throughout the course of Ah, long season and you know you see them more than you see your family, so everyone wants to make sure you do the right thing by the guys in the clubhouse. George, you did that on your own? Just one last question. I'm sorry. So, Yeah. You make that decision on your own. You weren't You weren't asked to do that by anyone else other than George contest. I mean, I'm not adjudicated. I'm just trying to understand Because this is this is something I'm not familiar with this a player. I don't know if a guy is asked to do it or if he does it on his own, But in your case you were like, now I'm going to do this because I don't just take it for my teammates. That's exactly right. Got it, Georgie? You had an incredible career. Now you get a chance to talk about it. You know, you win a ring in 12. That was an incredible run sweeping the Tigers, just a magical run. Then you were there in 14 when Bumgarner came out of the pan in Game seven. I'm just kind of wondered. Give me give me two things. Give me a moment that that when you think of your career, you think, Wow. I get to experience or witness that And give me a character You mentioned Clint Hurdle. Give me some. You know somebody who's in the game that we don't know about, Necessarily that That you just think has been a total character and that maybe with you, we should have been able to get to know. Um okay, So I'm gonna leave out for answer your first question. Obviously, the postseason stuff in the world championships. All those kind of Arianna are in a category of their own, so I'll leave no doubt, but it was 2012. And it was Game 1 61 We were playing against the Dodgers in Dodger Stadium, where we had already clinched the Uno West and we were already the whatever number number one seed. We won the West. And the Dodgers were chasing the Cardinals. I think by one game for the wild card second wildcard spot. I think that was the first year where you had the wild card game and We were up. Very Vito had started the game. It's crazy. How all these memories come back so quickly, very detailed, started the game he went. He went seven innings and I think it was the eighth inning and we were up for the one and Guillermo Mota. Went into the game. And it seemed like it was like six pitches or seven pitches. He had given up two runs and there were two outs and Shane Victorino was on third base. And the phone rang the phone rings. Gardy told me to get going. I get loose. It seemed like in 13 seconds that do like five fastballs and boats was already walking out to the mountain and And he called me into the game and I'm facing that camp with Shane Victorino on third base. 65,000 screaming Dodger Gran And I fall behind that went slider ball one slider ball, too. And I threw two fastballs to challenge fastball. You and the count, and then I struck him out on a two to slider, and he threw it back. And I love I lost my mind. I came off the mound, just fifth pumping. And that was the That was the first time where where I knew that I belonged in the major league and that I got it and that I had confidence moving forward to pitch at this level on a day to day basis. And I walked off the field and Barry Zito greeted me and everyone was super pumped. I also think that as that got me onto the post season roster that year, his boats in the staff felt that I could probably handle a little bit of pressure if I can handle that situation right there. So that was probably probably my most memorable non postseason. Memory being with the giant and a Zafar as character any. Anybody just stands out. So a character that I played with and I've played with him twice, and I know he's a guy who can rub people the wrong way if he's not on your team, but Francisco Cervelli He was my. He was my catcher with the Yankees when I first got drafted in 2006 in Staten Island, New York, which was short season, a rookie ball Was my catcher there and then he was also my catcher again when I was in Pittsburgh, and he's just he's such a. He's a great guy. He's a character. He's always got jokes. He's just a wonderful, wonderful guy. He's half Venezuelan, half Italian, and he's got more spunk than I think anybody had ever played with Cantos and severely coming down the street. Watch out, George Man. We appreciate the time. Let's let's do it on the regular as much As we possibly can, because I got a 1,000,000 questions about how much of a weirdo F ELT is NFL to friend, But he's a He's a weirdo. You know that I will carve out a lot for some Affeldt stories, Man. We appreciate the time. Good luck to you. Thanks for having me guys before doing it again. Thanks very much. George Concert owes Ah, former Giants pitcher and think it was his broadcasting thing goes, He's going to die. He's going to die. But you know what? He's never going to be David be Fleming. Then again. Who is ever going to be David be flaming other than Day. Fleming. He'll be joining us before Giants baseball here on these sports with.

"Preseason the off season the spring training the Summer camp 2.0, spring training to point at whatever you want to call. It has officially come to an end. And that's because tomorrow night from Dodger Stadium, you get regular season Giants baseball. Good morning to you happy Wednesday to you, Adam, coupled with the leadoff spot as we are every weekday morning, 5 to 6 a.m. And I was in the fields again last night, man and I went deeper into the ballgame last night that I went to nights ago. I think it went into the eighth last night before I drifted to sleep. But I actually did not go radio. I was able to. Ah, Devon Lane. Best ass was that was in the living room. Still when I went to sleep, so I was watching the ball game. As I as I fell asleep inside, climactic for the Oakland A's and I looked around and I went and that team is gonna win 97 ball games every year, kid because the Giants pitching staff with damn good. I know people go well, it's exhibitions. We don't even know if all those guys are on there. Here's the deal. This is a two month season two months. What you've got right now is pretty much what you got right? The Oakland A's ran out there. They're starting lineups for each of the last two days and not trying to take shots and that, Yeah, they're no good. They're not going to figure it out. Kate Kappler actually talked about it. Mohr leading up to this final sort of 2.5 3 week truncated summer camp spring training thing where, he said, I think the hitters are going to struggle with timing a lot early. What he's saying. Is that like when you when you do these, these 2.5 months spring training Ah, normal workouts every year. All the heaters get to a point where they say I'm ready to go. I was ready to go two weeks ago. Let's cut this spring training short. The reason it's so long is for those pictures, which I think is part of the reason Gabe Kapler Farhaan of said. This is not going to be a traditional starting rotation in the sense that you're not going to see starters going 567 innings into a ballgame, at least at the start. And so I'm encouraged by what I saw over the last two days from the pitching staff, and I said, Let's you Yesterday, I think of sanity of Monday to that those were the East. Artur's in the relievers were the two things I wanted to see the most because we felt like it's a pretty anonymous bullpen right now. Right? There are so many guys that were such staples in that pen for so long. We talked about the core four. But think about the other guys who kind of kind of put it around for a minute, right. Guillermo Mota was here for a few years. You end up with guys like George Cantos, who was kicking it around. Ramon Ramirez was here. Yet. Your guys, you come up and down from the mine. Remember, like Billy Sadler? Some of those guys who were just sort of in your system going between Triple A in the majors for awhile on that eventually you get your staple or your core of guys. And last year we were kind of in that transition period. And then a bunch of those guys get shipped out. Right? You're like that seems that robbed black. What was that guy's name? The anthro realize I can't even remember his name get shipped out to Ah! To Milwaukee with Drew Pomeranz. You had Sam Dyson, who was here for a little bit. Then he ends up getting traded to Minnesota. You have Ah, Markaba Lansing, who was here for a few years. Now he's gone yet. Hunter Strickland. Obviously that was here for some time. Now he's gone. So you're kind of into your new crop of bullpen arms. And and not only is it a new regime where you don't know how they're going to use them. You don't know how many they're going to go with, right? They're going to get to that point where you've got to be a cap. Eyes that this season next season anyway, they were going to the 13 pitcher cap on a on a roster for how many pictures you could have on one team. So giants won't be running out nine different guys each and every day, but for the last couple of days When they had each guy, 18 different pitchers throw one inning apiece, and none of them threw on on on back to back days here well capital and his staff were trying to make their final decisions on the roster. I'm encouraged by what I saw. There's going to be timing issues with some of these hitters early in the season. You hope that you hoped that it happens with the Dodgers. The matchups. The Giants are gonna be able to roll with it. By the way. Think about this. They all threw one full inning because that's going to be a thing this year, right? You've got to get through the inning, so you've got to make sure your guys are stretched out. But when we were watching yesterday, one of the things that stood out to me is they've got several different types of pitchers, right. Tyler Rogers is going to be a guy who can pitch in these high leverage. Innings. I think they're talking about him, potentially Ozer maybe is as an opener like we saw yesterday, but he's filthy. He strikes out Marcus Semien, who is third and MVP voting last year, he springs up Matt Chapman. Who does not seem like he's got his timing down at least right now. A T beginning of this season battles in the on ly a yesterday well outside of Chad Pinder, I guess to do some damage battles and drops of butt down when they do the four outfielder shift on the A's early in the ballgame, but that was just about it. Chad Pinder hit that ball off the wall that was questionable as to whether or not it was a home run. I thought it was a home run cooking Kuipers, saying that ball was gone. Hit off the railing, and they did the review and Major League Baseball continues to baffle me with their their instant replay process that we just it seems it seems to me. It's so obvious like maybe more than any other sport because in football In football like the point of instant replay is not used now for what it was, for the point of its the replay was not to say you have the nose of the ball may have crested the plane of the goal line, so you know was was he down wasn't a catch. We get too meticulous with this stuff when it's just supposed to be able to be called in realty time, and then just tell me where the ball was supposed to be placed with the dinner wasn't out. We don't need this 10 minute break down well in baseball, it seems so much more obvious. To the fan base because there's not a lot of moving parts. It's a ball. It's a guy running to first. It's a guy leaning off of first, There's not two gladiators running at each other at full speed, one trying to break an immovable force one trying to stop into they're getting to the end of the end zone. So it's Ah, It's ah, you know, instant replays been been sort of shoddy. I feel like for baseball for a while and the counter in intuitive it ease that would you say it's counterintuitive, Teo say what speed up the game and then add instant replay for more facets of the game anyway, the age could not What do really anything against the Giants pitching two hits yesterday. The rundown for the two ballgames 18 innings, 18 pitchers. Four runs for the A's six hits, and by the way, the only picture yesterday to give up two hits to give up both of those hits was was Connor Man, As you did that yesterday, so he gives.

Be scored us an error on coast road, Although I would think that gun will get an R B. I And he does and deservedly so. Napa, Ghana threat to steal at first Scooter Oh, the hitter to runs in, there's a pitchout Pagon not going anywhere. It's ball one. Lehto is really tipped off that pitch out. That's one thing that you have to learn how to do is a pitcher. You got to sell that picture. You've got to be quick to get home. But you also have to make that one. I believe that you're making a pitch. I'm not throwing a pitch out on the bag with the gun it first giants ahead to nothing in the 5th 1 out. Here's the stretch, not a big lead by pagan pitch. Now, Scooter Ro shows bunt and takes up and in it is to know that ball was not close Scooter over the look at third base coach Tim Flannery. I don't think he had any intention of doing anything with that bitch other than taking it, but I think you just want to show but Scott role of third baseman Second baseman Philip Shaded toward the middle big hole open on the right side, with Votto playing on the bag with pagan outfielders straightaway. Here's the pitch from Matt Latos low and outside with a slider three and And Pablo Sandoval is on deck. The Reds are going to get some action in their bullpen. Now nobody has been throwing, but they're going to start. Here's the pitch inside. It's a four pitch walk. Plato's missing with a fastball on his 71st pitch of the game on just over half of those have been thrown in these last two innings, the Giants Lincoln about a little bit as he threw 19 pitches in the fourth inning. He's already thrown 17 more here, not huge stretch for letting, But it's October baseball and and later may be showing some signs of fatigue out there right now, I think he's rattled. I think his concentration got fractured with that there was space behind it. Bye. By a short stop Ryan Price, the pitching coach for the Reds out to talk to his focus back. Those four pitches to Scooter were not close, and that hasn't happened really all day long. He's been around that strike some people when he hasn't been in it. What's that giant ground attack Rattled? Yes, again changed with the three yards and a cloud of dust here in Ohio almost out in honor of the late Woody Hayes. At Ohio State. 3.5 yards. Sam le Cure the right handed Is warming up in the Reds bullpen, Pablo Side the Giants with a chance for a big inning. Now, two runs already in a to nothing lead to men on one man out, Pablo, batting left handed. Takes a called strike. Pablo didn't like to call On one count of Pablo Sandoval. He has single to left and grounded out the first in this game, Pablo, who had a monstrous home run to the back of the Giantsbullpen here last night, now the pitch And that is outside, well off the plate, count a ball and a strike. I asked a couple of Jets bullpen is about where that bullet landed. And Guillermo Mota said it landed almost to the back, wanted and bounced up and hit the back wall. Then I asked George Cantos, he said, Oh, it went into the river. There you go. Okay. When I left, they were having the argument. 11 pitch Now, Pablo Lines wantedto feel the base hit wagon stopped to make sure it wasn't caught and then goes to third and holds. "Pitcher now you got a big inning coming out Brady walks a picture one right and now you're at the top of the order so I've seen it backfire I think there's no right or wrong I think it's very situational knowing your guy on the mound the command he has and knowing that the eighth place hitter is and and and how good or bad the pitcher is is the error your answer yeah what do you have to do it though you must have been in that position would you do well I I we're I remember walking eight hitter to get to the night the total picture many times and it was always in that second time around and that you don't tell them the first time around but it was the second time around where they could potentially occur the picture Horsham to pinch hit for the pitcher but different heroes like that but at the same time you know you always have to go out to a picture of you have that course were displayed right said you walked eight hitters you better get that night there are structures the pitcher I mean Jack that's literally sometimes the ball game and sometimes the pressure you start trying to catch you know too much in the corner instead is going after Roman and things like that happen where you do walk the picture and then you're you're trying a little harder so scenario the game but it was usually the second time around winner winner Frank Robinson who had a look at it well he screamed most of the time because of the if you're out here with the holler at you all the time maybe you thought that you should never do happen there there the demonstrators whenever I have time on the field at all all we're supposed to do it but that was his bigotry learn about it but right tell him don't worry about hitting I have hitters a lot of times good I like that all right we'll take a break another good good baseball discussion this is why you guys are the best that we're going to put a bill on the faculty professor you know we're gonna have to give the time to think so I think you can come in and educate a few people for us yeah yeah yeah we're gonna have to put on the faculty here but we had fun last few weeks with that bring up a couple in names from from the giants in recent years and you guys talk about it one that I want to bring up after the break is Guillermo Mota and the other one is a handy Velez and well I'm sure you got the lead stories and motor stores as well and they were both you know part part of the team I love to get your your feedback on those guys so we'll take a break more coming up.

games last eighty games whatever why don't you start the season at those eighty games play a regular season game well I don't think they're gonna be able to do that if they're rearranging the alignment of divisions I guess they could you know they could do that if they were just playing two games in the normal way in like a normal ball parks in all maybe they could do that if they're not they're not going to get that now in their in their schedules gonna meet V. very easy to make because like we were going through what the realignment would look like these teams train fifteen twenty minutes away from each other so the scheduling is not gonna be that difficult I don't think it's necessary the more I think about it because this is an evolving thing obviously to really squeeze that many games and by having double headers I mean if you can have right right I know ninety game season do you really want to risk injury and have seven inning games just to get from ninety to let's say ninety eight you know is it is it really that big of a deal so I kind of lean away from the forcing of the double headers and making them seven inning games I'm I just don't think it's necessary yeah well we'll see we'll see what they do if the what if anything is done right if there is anything obviously the best case scenario just knoll knoll date that you can lock into enough so it's a it's it's unbelievable Tony in Bayonne New Jersey Tony how are you are you doing guys everybody can save Ryan tried our best only yeah yep about Gettleman I like the line bad guys the Simons Simons he's very athletic your coverage linebacker who could do a lot of things my question is is if the red skins St James young is that we've got only more toward a left tackle being that he's in the division you got to face him twice and for a number of years I think I think that's a little bit of it over think honestly I don't I don't chase young going to Redskins would have any reason it have any bearing on whether Gettleman takes a an offense of linemen now the the bearing it has is that chase young isn't falling to you right that's the biggest impact right look at left tackle in the NFL is incredibly important no matter if she's young is a superstar in your division or not or if it turns out to be today being cloudy right or turns out to be Vernon Gholston right well so I I don't very sake we hope that for him it doesn't have yes I think that's it over thank yous at Ohio state guy for that whatever that means yeah it doesn't really mean anything because Joey Bosa is now a higher stake at eastern it's always Nick yep Chris in Kingston New York Chris how are you what's going on I think I was doing so good good solid watching a replay of the two thousand thirteen and bear in their files with the first in the heat and I don't know I they made me feel sick to my stomach I hated that he for what they're up by five points with the twenty seconds left in managing but he missed a free throw you know to the B. F. I. five and then they got walkers rebound that he I think was Mike Miller make it to point and point to point and then when you're missed a crucial three of three file to make a three point lead but then we have another office rebound with box and my question is I cannot believe Duncan without the last thirty seconds you know because he was in there he would have won the fourth and the game went bent over he and his friends were leaving after the twenty second here's the good news your feet in the next year yeah I was gonna say is that that's the good news you know what I mean Hey you know not often if that opportunity presents itself and it did and it spurs took advantage of it and that to me when you look at the spur dynasty if you wanna call kinda everything they accomplished between nineteen ninety nine to that point and the year after a dynasty it was a lot of you see a lot of changes over that time to me that was the most impressive thing they ever did losing the way they did to Miami in thirteen losing game six the way they did losing game seven and then it has great is that dynasty was never got to back to back NBA finals here do that right and it was until that one and it felt as if twenty fourteen was a mission the mission while also was the only one we have a law student right they haven't that that's the only NBA finals the spurs of loss that's right but that following year felt like it's all about getting back to that point and I'm getting revenge and they did because remember they beat him in five the next year yeah I'm pretty heavily man right yeah yeah I didn't even feel like that much of a series if memory serves correct I think they blew them out a lot of those again I think they did yeah it wasn't a great series for them now so you know we've talked about one thing leads to another I don't know Joe if they don't lose that series as brutally as they did in thirteen fourteen actually happens I don't know you might be right about that so I think that's the ultimate you know revenge that you got if you're a spurs fan yeah you won the next year Q. in Saint Louis Missouri you know we are you so I think I think thing so you start off the show today talking about mental illness reason I think about him two thousand and two thousand six and there's good and bad memories but in two thousand and one of the things that people I think forget about it in two became to the starter is everyday playing career ability was pretty soon after that and then in two thousand six about this he's only thirteen screen reading please clean green green swept that series yeah because because you know what happens you either go up to in that series yet yeah and it's just well there's a lot of things in my lifetime as a met fan a moment that it maybe it's just me because I've never seen them when thinking this but one moment that you feel changes everything and that plague that moment not winning game two blowing game too the way they did led by Guillermo Mota and speakeasy it now ball off the top of the fence to green missing it that's a missed opportunity Glavin blowing game five because let's face it he blew game five the Mets lead and in the two thousand World Series it's obvious it's the Paul o'neill at bat it's letting game one slip away the way they did and you made a great point the other day Joe because I forgot about it there were other little moments in game one against the all my god Friday made such big mistakes shots the army bad bad base running blunders that Armenia piazza in the same inning piazza weeds already because the fourth inning I was watching the other day last week I got two weeks off with a single to right field Andy Pettitte who has the greatest pickoff move that anybody of AdNews Freeman client and and and what is the odds of going to fall in a sweeping getting picked off first base that pot and then zeal comes yep and here it's like a slow roll with the thirty doesn't run it out because he thinks it's foul you winds up kicking fair and brochures throws him out yep I mean just it it obviously to Timo Perez play right I mean so many things you lose that game it I mean the Mets made like three or four bad base running blunder and and I'll tell you something else that is really yeah I know why he did it but what what's is I I feel bad and forget the kids name we used to call us all the time Mike in new haven Mike in all might be a nice guy sorry Mike yeah Michael last night posts the entire o'neill at bat the video of the outback just to aggravate you know I look in fairness to Mike he's been posting a lot of cool videos and they're not all get pro Yankees negative match it's a good mix of stuff so hi he E. you wasn't malicious about it and I could have easily just scrolled up but I watched it and because we are poor line earlier this week and o'neill was saying yeah I you know I was overwhelmed them found the ball all right right right right a new watch the at bat Neil had no chance in this at bat yeah uses Fallon **** all terrible at the plate so that at bat and then the other one which to me is believe it or not it's actually worse and I know you may think I'm nuts for thinking it's worse and that's the Gordon at bat against the million fifteen that one that one actually the more I think about it mmhm he actually stings me more because I think there's.
