Leadership Lessons from a US Army General Maj Gen John Gronski (retd) - burst 11
"A gunnery. Sergeant michael burkhart was the who was the explosive ordinance disposal team leader went down to that site with two young marines and they were going to conduct a post blast analysis to determine a tactics techniques procedures insurgents. Were using so we could try to prevent these attacks from happening again in the future and when gunny burkhardt got down there with two young rains was chaotic. The soldiers were cisterna. Seen the ad that a chaos there were two reporters from the omaha world herald newspaper there there were embedded reporter so anyway going burkhard gets down. There sees the destroyed up. Armored humvee sees a crater near that up armored humvee bow four feet in diameter a couple of feet deep makes an assumption that that's for that roadside bomb that destroyed that humvee was placed jumps down into crater. Take a closer look as soon as he did that. He realized he made a mistake because he could see in the dirt in front of him to artillery shells. Red detonation cord running in the nose was a roadside bomb. That an insurgent have placed their so. He took his k bar knife. Cut the red debt. Detonation cord to neutralize that roadside bomb. He didn't see a third artillery shell into dirt behind him in that crater. An insurgent was off in the distance. Hit a button. On a that nation device that artillery shell exploded not going burkhardt about fifteen feet into the air lands on the dirt road unconscious pants soaked with blood. Our soldiers call a medevac helicopter. Ride away go up tomb start. Cut his pants off. Start tending to his boons after few minutes burkhart regains consciousness. The soldiers couldn't believe that and and he's laying there and he asked the soldiers if he has both of his legs because they had no no sensation from the waist down. They sure to me had both of his legs. They continue to work on 'em couple minutes later. He gets a tingling sensation in his legs. He tells the soldiers he wants to stand up. Soldiers couldn't believe that this guy had just gotten blown up and so we struggles to his feet. He standing there to soldiers around him. The medevac helicopter comes in lands on the ground behind them. The soldiers point to the stretcher On the ground in front of the misogony. We've got you know. Gotta put you on a stretcher and carry you to that helicopter. He looks at the soldiers and he says i'm not going to have you carry me that helicopter on a stretcher. I'm going to walk there under my own power. Because i don't want the insurgents of the pleasure of seeing me being carried that helicopter and easy. He says that he raises his hand into the air and gives the insurgents which i will call a one finger salute reporter reported from the omaha world heritage takes a picture of him standing there Groin protector. you know. In in front of his private area there. No pants on finger thrown up into the air soldiers around him. You'd say the helicopter the background. That picture became an iconic picture of the iraq war but what is deleted Point of the story. And the reason i tell this story and the reason. I think it's important. The leadership point of this story is member told you. He had two young marines with them that day. He knew he was going to have to recover from his wounds. He knew what all the roadside bomb attacks were getting that those two young marines were going to have to be out there probably later on that day routes realizing roadside bombs. The reason he wanted to walk to that helicopter instead of being carried there had nothing at all to do with what he thought and surgeons for thinking. He wanted to walk to that helicopter so we would not shatter the confidence of those too young marines. Pseudo leadership point is even after getting blown up ten minutes earlier. His main concern was not with his own wounds. His bank concern was with those two young marines. Who he was leading an isn't that what leadership is all about. And we talked about that looking out for the welfare of those you lead rather than your own welfare and that's exactly what gandhi burkhardt exemplified that day. And that's why. I like to tell that story that i read read that story. I had to read it again. Because i was laughing because i could just see i. I have friends who are marines right by the way. There's no such thing as an ex marine okay. the just doesn't exist. I've been told that countless times by my friend there's just no such thing they they may be quote unquote have retired at the end of their name. But they're still all. And and and i just thinking about them go. That's exactly what jimmy would. That's exactly what he would have done. That's what bob would have done. He would have done the same thing. I i can. Just see it. I just great story but it was truly the surprise in that lesson was not. I thought it was going to be resiliency. It is but the point is that he cared so much about making sure that those other two young marines were their that their mental emotional state was not shaken. Yeah and you know jay that think about this as leaders we face adversity almost every day in whatever organization were leading the some degree and and sometimes things get tough honest and the point is as a leader. You can't be thinking. I'm an figuratively. I'll use this. You know you can't be thinking. I'm cold i i'm hungry. You know i. I'm shivering right. No you you've got to show those you're leading that you know what i've got the resiliency to overcome this. And because i do you have the resiliency to overcome. They might be called. I might be hungry. I might be weak. But i'm going to take care of you before i take care of myself. And that's the essence of leadership. We underestimate the modeling of behavior. Don't we when it comes to leadership absolutely. Yeah and you know what the other thing i learned in my forty years of leading soldiers also leading teams in the business sector. Is the people you lead are always watching you practice. You know you could. You could put down in writing. What your leadership philosophy is or you could verbally give some guidance about behaviors. You're looking for but those you lead are going to be watching to see you. Know how do you adhere your own guidance. Behaviors that you're looking for you. Exemplify those behaviors and your followers are always watching and your actions speak so much larger than larger louder than your words. Do

Deshaun Watson Faces More Sexual Assault Accusations
"Swear and i. can you just walk us through. How things unfolded this week with shawn watson and these lawsuits. Yeah it was a little bit. Unorthodox the attorney. Who's doing him. Tony busby who is kind of a local celebrity of sorts. He posted originally on instagram. That he was suing deshaun watson and suggested that other women could come forward. We didn't actually see them. Posted on the harris county clerk's website until the next morning at which point there were two of them to masseuses have now filed civil lawsuits against texans quarterback deshaun watson accusing him of inappropriate behavior during sessions. In some instances suggesting repeatedly that they massage his groin area and the third case that just posted more recently that massage. Who could help or hurt her career and just to be clear. These are civil lawsuits to shawn. Watson has not been charged with any criminal activity at this point. Right it's all the facts. We have of this based off a civil complaint so not a police report. And the harris county sheriff's office said that they do not having investigation opening and houston police that they've not said one way or the other only because they have not charged him with a crime at this time. Do Some Fabrics Make Body Odor Worse?
"Of athletic wear and outdoors gear is labeled with claims. That it'll help wick away sweat and keep you spelling as fresh as if you just stepped of the shower in this episode. We look at how those claims can possibly be true and how they can sometimes fall through. Pay their brain steph. Lorraine bogo bomb here. If you're preparing for a hike especially one that involves sleeping under the stars. Every last than you pack should be questioned. Will you need rain gear. One walking stick or two which freeze dried. Snacks are actually tasty enough to eat. One essential rule from experienced hikers is no cotton clothing. Clothes made of cotton can act as a sponge. The material soaks up sweat and holds moisture next to the skin which eliminates the insulating effect of the cotton skin irritation and eventually leads to copious amounts of body odor body odor isn't a personal affront. Temperature becomes high enough to cause certain. Glands secrete fluid onto the surface of the skin is at risk for emanating at least a little bit and it isn't without purpose sweat produced by the akron. Glands that cover most of the body helps regulate body temperature while the milky or fluid released by the epa korean glands. The armpits and groin area is a signal that the body is under stress. African glands are primarily responsible for body odor and although akron. Glands secrete primarily odorless sweat. The smell produced by this sweat changes over time perspiration acts as a magnet tha bacteria on the skin and these bacteria use it as fuel to multiply. When the growing numbers of bacteria metabolize sweat they produce a smelly byproduct commonly called body odor. Clearly cotton isn't the right choice for working up a sweat. Since it can actually make body odor worse. But what about other types of fabrics do all fabrics increase a person's propensity to develop body odor the key to using clothing to prevent or lessen body odor lows in the fabrics ability to release sweat quickly before bacteria can begin to feast on it. There are natural and man-made fabrics that expertly wick moisture away from the skin to the edge of the material where it can evaporate other fabrics however we'll trap moisture in the fabric. And on the skin and make body odor worse a fabrics ability to transmit and released moisture is known as breathe ability. Which is the common term for the moisture vapor transmission rate or mvp tr. The mvp are calculating. How many grams of moisture move through a square meter of fabric in two thousand four hours. Generally the greater the mvp are the less likely the fabric is to absorb and retain odor causing moisture. You may be thinking great. Now all i have to do is find clothing label breathable and be. Oh we'll be a problem of the past not so fast. There's not an industry standard regarding breath ability nearly any label can carry the term usually preceded by words like or extremely. This means you'll need to arm yourself with information about specific fabrics rather than relying on label hype as a guide natural fabrics created from the fibers of animals. Bugs or plants are a good place to start. You'll want to steer clear of one hundred percent cotton fabrics because they take a long time to dry and will allow body odor to bloom. In the meantime this is largely. Because one hundred percent cotton fabrics are composed of fibers that swell with moisture and thereby reduce the pores of the fabric of other natural fabrics absorb and release sweat quickly including hemp fabric woven from these stem fibers of the cannabis. Sativa plant and linen women from flax stems. Well it sounds counter intuitive to wear wool to prevent body odor. This natural fiber is an excellent choice will absorb up to thirty six percent of its weight in moisture without feeling wet and will dry quickly. We'll also releases minute amounts of body heat as it absorbs moisture so it will help keep you cool. Plus we'll is naturally antibacterial which means you can wear it. Sweating it and keep wearing it sometimes. For consecutive days without reading when it comes to making body odor worse synthetic fabrics tend to trap odors at a greater rate the natural fabrics although many of these manmade fabrics like polyester are quick to wick moisture away from the skin and equally quick to dry. Their construction can up the stink quotient within the wave of synthetic moisture waking fabrics are notches designed to pool. Manute amounts of sweat as it. Transfers from the inner layer to the outer layer of the fabric. The concept is a good one as the moisture will generally evaporate once it reaches the fabrics outer layer. The problem is that as sweat collects in the nooks and crannies of the fabric on its way to freedom. It is devoured by bacteria that have themselves made home in those same recesses. This traps body odor. Within the fabric to reduce rowdy odors look for static fabrics that haven't an added antimicrobial ingredient for example the addition of silver polyester or spandex fibers can help prevent body. Odor from accumulating silver nanoparticles. That's particles so small that eighty thousand of them could fit within. The diameter of a human hair can be integrated into synthetic fabric when they get wet. The silver nanoparticles released silver ions that initially slow the growth of odor causing bacteria and eventually kill them off. Altogether some fabrics are infused with a different type of odor inhibiting agent molecules of volcanic ash. The ash molecules have a pore size that similar to that of an odor molecule when the to meet the odor molecule is adsorb and trapped within the ash molecule this prevents the odor molecule from releasing its characteristic smell until the fabric is washed in warm water to prevent body odor. Look for clothing made from fabrics. That will help keep you dry and have the added might of antimicrobial helpers and don't forget the antiperspirant or

Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny dupes spy into revealing how he was poisoned - CNN
"Russian spy unwittingly revealed how Russian agents nearly killed opposition leader Alexei Navalny back in August when they placed the lethal nerve agent Nova shock inside Navalny's underpants. Even stranger. The spy disclosed that detail to navalny himself who was Impersonating a high ranking Russian official on the phone. CNN's Cloris Award broke this story in collaboration with the investigative outlet Belling Cat and Dirt Spiegel, and she joins us via Skype. Claressa welcome. Thank you so much for having me on Peter, and let's start with a little more context. Here. Back in August, Navalny was flying to Moscow from the city of Tomsk when he became very ill on the airplane, And here he is recounting that moment. To you. Let's listen. I get out of this bus room tone over to the flight attendant and said him I was poisoned. I'm gonna dive and then then I lay down under his feet in tow to die. So the pilot then diverted the plane to the Russian city of Omsk Navalny survived. He's now in Germany. But tell us what you learned about the days and hours leading up to that moment on the airplane. I mean, you know, it's just been extraordinary to get this kind of insight into how an elite team of FSB Russian State Security service operatives With a specialty in chemical weapons, many of them doctors, scientists operating out of the UN remarkable Moscow suburb were able to essentially trail Navalny's every move for more than three years. Then, as you said in August, Navalny became very sick on the way back from Tomsk on this flight, and the Germans once he was able to be transported to Germany confirmed that he had been poisoned with not be chock. We now know that that Na'vi chalk was planted. In Navalny's underpants If you can believe that, Wow, What is that? Details say to you. So we spoke to a lot of experts about this to try toe understand it better both from the point of view of understanding whether the intention was to kill or possibly just incapacitate. And by the way, all of them agree. You can only really be looking to kill when you're using Na'vi chalk outside of a laboratory. But also to get a better sense of why would they put Nova Chuck in the underpants? And particularly this one operative describes in this now famous phone call to Alexei Navalny were Navalny was posing as a senior national security aide conducting an investigation into the operation. He tells him. Listen, we put it on the underwear on the inside seems of the crotch area and experts Have told us that the groin area is particularly porous, particularly susceptible. This kind of poisoning, So they certainly knew what they were doing it as you say It was navalny himself, who was able to coax these details out of this agent who was a part of this toxins team. Why didn't have only do that? How did Navalny do that? So when I was in Moscow last week with my team, we all set about trying to confront some of the people that through this investigation with Belling cat we have been able to identify as part of this FSB toxins team. Then they landed on this idea of pretending to be someone high up within the Russian hierarchy, and they were able to disguise Phone number they were using to make it look like they were calling from an FSB landline. And if you listen to the conversation, it's it's something like 45 minutes long. It does take a while to persuade this operative his name is constant included. It's if he graduated from the Russian Academy of Chemical Defense. It does take him a while to be persuaded that it's OK for him to have this conversation on an open line. With navalny, But once he starts talking boy, does he start talking? Well. Vladimir Putin himself has said that if his agents wanted to kill navalny, they would have done it. So what do you make of that reaction in Russia? About how high up this operation went in the government? Well, I mean, this puts the Kremlin in an extraordinarily embarrassing and uncomfortable position because just last week, President Putin, responding to our reporting, said, What's the big deal? So what the FSB were following Navalny? That's normal because he works with us intelligence services. That doesn't mean they poisoned him. Well, fast forward just a few days, And here we are with concrete evidence that in fact, that team of operatives who were following him did poison him. And so how on earth does the Kremlin go about wriggling out of this one, Essentially I will say that unlike last week where it was much more silent, and the Russian media and people weren't really talking about it, perhaps because they were fearful this time, people are starting to talk about it. We've already seen Russian journalist trying to go to the address off. This could threats at this operative who unwittingly confessed to Alexei Navalny. And I think it's going to be very difficult for the Russian government to put this genie back in the bottle. Just briefly, Claressa. It is amazing to see you sitting there in front of Alexei Navalny, who had gone through such a tremendously traumatic ordeal on this airplane getting poison. He's been a thorn in the side of Vladimir Putin for many years. It's amazing that he's still alive. How is his health? How's he doing? He has made nothing short of a miraculous recovery, and all of his doctors say the same thing. What is even more extraordinary is that Alexei Navalny is still planning to go back to Russia. He says. He's a Russian politician. He belongs in Russia, and he would never give Putin such a gift, he

The deal still pending formal approval from the P A in the board of governors, but all signs pointing towards the return of hockey within the next few weeks. And I felt a shorthand in Washington football team home against Seattle on Sunday. QB Alex Smith ruled out with a calf issue. So Dwayne Haskins said to make his first start since Week four after getting benched in early October. Haskins certainly appreciative of this opportunity. Biggest thing I wanted to do face in this whole thing's come on the other side stronger. That's what I did looking forward to doing that. With high opportunity that I get going forward. "groin" Discussed on KNBR The Sports Leader
"No, no, it was great. The big story of the big story is that They're popping is growing like Jeff George did one year, the What year was it? Nineties? Seven. Maybe not 98 John's first year they went through so many quarterbacks at a groin injury, including the Great Jeff George, or an interesting way of Pronouncing the word growing. He had a little he's from Broad Ripple High school in Indianapolis, but he sounded like it's from the deep South. When he said, Goran, you get online anyway, Derek, that was that was a bad injury. Just looked like he was gonna make it in the end zone. He was trying to clear Whitney out of there. Buddy. He popped the groin. Marcus Mariota played Lot as well as I've seen him play. Got Chris Babcock, who is positively prescient. Texted may way before the game the middle of the afternoon, right after our show. And asked, Would you give up a third round pick for Marcus Mariota? And I didn't respond because I haven't seen him in a while. And I wanted to do a lot of work out an answer that question. I mean, he does make you see the highest paid back up in the league to your 17 mill. Wow, that's a lot. Including 10 next year. 10 Million option next year. Yes, so that I mean, they're not gonna trade him And I'm gonna take that sour. He'd be a starter's the question. Um He threw the ball well, that dead dead shot down the sideline, a deer and wall. There was big time. That was one of the best throws I've seen. You made a lot of great throws, but he he's still you know how much does he practice with the ones he still Their first reads. Not there. He's gone. He's out the gate. He runs along 88. He ran for 88 yards last night in the touchdown, and he's tough. He jumped right over the pile. I think the big moment of the game Is They got a first and goal on the four yard line, and you could not get that in. And then, uh, Rochelle makes that great play on the Passed in the right flat and then Justin Herbert is just a transcendent talent. Geez, I mean, honestly, I know you got your big n ba G m pole. If you were to pull NFL G M's right now who, if you hadn't started franchise and one guy And it's certain problem. You know, there's some defense of players and watching Joey play again last night and he was out in crunch time. But Boy, you just forget I'll go to the player Nick Bo says that his brother is really great player. But, you know, take away Aaron Donald to the world, maybe get some votes for him. But just quarterbacks. If you were to start a franchise that any one player in the NFL it be, Mahomes probably number one because he's been there done that. But it may be a close second or certainly the second place finisher, the Justin Herbert. Tell me where he's got a weakness. I don't see anything that he's not good at. Except occasionally the pass rush. But that you know when he when he When he And the boot game after Mario made a great play on Chris Harris, Junior to run him down. I thought it was gonna be a pick six. Yeah, and the charges were poised to score there. That's not his fault. But you run a stretch left boot, right and you've got pressure right in his face. How could he run away from that? A little better just to take a sack. There was a really bad play. And Anthony Lynn's game management is just so wretched all your little too late to call a time out. I mean, last night was one of his better guy. I've seen him wreck first halfs and games. Just terrible. He's not getting any better. I mean, he's got to study. You know, he's gonna get fired at the end of the year, and he has to figure out how to do that. He's gonna be lifetime assistant coach. Just not good. Um, but you know, he didn't quick way to 20 seconds to call the time out. At that point, Don't call it What you're trying to do with those timeouts is conserved 42nd intervals, not 22nd intervals turned out fine. They won the game. But that was terrible. But I would you have had badly try that 51 yarder. After he missed the earlier one. You're giving it right back to them on the 41 yard line. That was crazy, then the way the raid I thought the Raiders sandal the end of the game fine and It wasn't a lane Kiffin lining up for a 76 yard field goal. But you did you 55 65 yards or it's indoors. I guess it a legion. But anyway, I was a hell of a good football game. And then you know, Herbert makes that throw with pressure right in his face, and Troy Aikman come on. It was not under thrown me get couldn't believe it. You said if you would have put it out there would have been touched down. Where did you want to put it right in his hands. He did after you did slow down a little bit. But he got pressure right in his face, and he was not prepared to throw that deep shot. I think he saw it a little bit late. But how many guys have the arm strength to get it there and take that shot and then so great, you know, first time in Vegas is the L. A Chargers at the Las Vegas Raiders. The whole thing is just weird. And what does it come down?.
Herbert Sets NFL Rookie Record, Los Angeles Chargers Clinch 30-27 Victory Over Raiders
"Brilliant rookie record setting season continues, he scored on a one yard plunge, giving the L. A Chargers 30 to 27 overtime victory over the Los Vegas Raiders that Thursday night, setting a rookie record with his three with this 7th 300 yard game. And you know, as 27 scores passing scores on the year that ties a Baker Mayfield, the record set in 2018 for the most by a rookie in NFL history. Las Vegas, meanwhile, dropping to seven and seven and lost quarterback Derek Carr to a left groin injury in the first quarter. Uh, Las Vegas has lost 45 all but killing its playoff chances. Raiders tight end Darren Waller. He did have a monster night again, even though it was on the losing, and he dedicated his performance to his former Baltimore Ravens teammate and close friend. Raiders lose QB Carr, fall in overtime to Chargers, Herbert

He think if it seems like I mentioned we take a look at the charges, Raiders game charge leave this game 17 to 10 early in the third quarter. I want to explain to me in Fitzsimmons, you have a quarterback and Justin Herbert has been unbelievable. 17 to 21 23 years and two touchdowns I know was third one. But why did you take the ball of his hands and 11 throw for the first time? Third one on I'm not part of that coaching staff because I would have put it in his hands because he is athletic meet. You could roll him out and he's going forward or toss it. Uh, Can't answer that. You have no answer me to do it. It's all I've got for you is I would have probably put it in his hands and meaning calling a bootleg. Um, roll into is better to his right and his left. And See what happens. Over what you just described right now. And Vegas without Derek Carr. If you're just tuning in groin injury starting quarterback for the Raiders right now is out. Mariota is in Marcus Mariota. Lot of people probably forgot that they brought him over no doubt from a Tennessee Titans on. He's played well early on five for five. 80 yards and a touchdown gets his first touch. Now here at the start the second half, but The Vegas Raiders are playing the playoff lives. They lose this game, Freddy, they're done. It's over. That's and then Jon Gruden if you think he has been a beer face now. Been a barefaced gonna last till next year when they were right there having a chance get into the playoffs, but the defense and then the team let them down. We're keeping on that game charge leading at 17 to 10 Right now they're playing with a coach's life is well, Anthony Lynn, although that does not seem to be the case he's gonna be here next year. Yeah. Look, I like you have any little lot, but I'm a big Anthony. One guy. Um You know me? I'm not a fire The coach guy you neither am I. I don't know You could be the biggest creep in the world. But I don't want to see people lose their job. Tom to Lesko, the general manager has drafted extremely well. You lose. What fortune By Joe Fortune Ball. It gave us a statistic last night. But if you would have teased the Chargers six point out a 10.6 point teaser either way. Meaning catching six or against him, Right? So you're catching six more points or minus six more points. You would be 24 in two. That's how many close games the charges have played over the last two years. Wow. So that's not a lack of talent, No and drafting and evaluating talent. That's that's just not having that that finisher and winning that close game. You don't have to be a part of your culture that you can't finish those games. And that's where the charges all right now, even though the leading it so that's not on scouting, non GM right. That's on players performing and clutch moments and also calling Right sets in place is going to be easy to give it a one and his staff and 53 when it comes to playing speaking Renfro, now the training table, everybody's going to training table late, although Mario Mario just running for a first down for the Raiders, real quick, Cory Booker, the center for New Jersey, joined US 91 10 minutes ago, proposing one of the co authors of the proposal. "Yeah. All right, George. You got something else. I don't know. What what's what's the deal with ru is he out for a while? Who is going to be out for some stretch of time. Now the deal is he left the game in the second inning last night with a groin house right now. That's what's scary. Because last year miss what ninety game last year he missed three months with that groin injury. He was diagnosed with a strained groin. That's the same injury. The force them to miss half more than half of last season. And he says it was different from the pain. I felt last year. It was more of a precautionary measure to come out of the game. So comparing compared to the left groin strain injury last year right now, I feel better right now. I'm not too concerned. Now, the dodgers have since said they believe he will wind up on the injured. Right. I mean, even just a precautionary measure, they should do that. But how are we on Joe Kelley who blew it again yesterday? Like are we like, oh, he blew it again. Or are we like, well, he took the ball when ruined down because he. Kind of stepped up to the plate there. Like, he he made the call according to Dave Roberts. Instead, I got you like do we like him because he did that. Or do we dislike him because if you look at a desk did so much money in him? You've got to find a way to get them. Right. The scary thing is he was a buzzsaw during the postseason. Yeah. But yeah, he was a really ordinary four thirty nine. RA regular season. So it's a question of which Joe he still brings it brings me. It's got good stuff. Ninety nine got. Great stuff. Yeah. But the dodgers are eight and three. Yeah. He's got the three losses. Right. Yeah. That's the no it's not. It's not good at all. The other guys were thrown Dylan flora through. Well. Yeah, it's Byas and and Kelly that are the problem in the below buzz as a shock. Oh bias. Yeah. He was great last last. He was great the entire regular season until he got to the postseason then he was by. And then he was biased. Yeah. Yeah. Now, the good thing is Kershaw through a rehab start at. Tucson. I think last night. So he's getting closer. Greg. Do you know pull up the Kershaw information a through a rehab start? He threw me. Hey, he's throwing a rehab start tonight's. And then he's expected to either start on Sunday or Monday as long as feeling good. Okay. So how long can you realistically give Kelly? I mean a month two months. Oh, she'll be all star break you realistically. I mean, you've got to throw him in low leverage situations to seat now last night runner on your leading three two two that should not. "And here's the thing. It's only six games. And I guess we have to preface that bad. Yeah. Yeah. Let's not get too nuts here. You can't get nuts. Good. You can't get nuts bad when you're only six games. And you've got to be worried about the injury situation to me because it's really starting to Lewinsky and has already said, you know, he's surprised at Tula whiskey lasted six games. Well, five whatever you want to say the way I look at this with two Lewinsky's latest gotta go down. He's going on the injured list with this groin. You've got that down. I'll just took me a couple of days now able to unable to play with your reaction of your Yankee fan with. With all the other injuries that have happened. All the other injuries are bad luck. You know, Giancarlo Stanton getting hurt his bad luck and the hard getting bad luck. It's just bad luck. Troy to Lewinsky getting hurt is not bad luck. It is not always me boy the to deal with injuries. It's the fact that Brian Cashman took a gamble, and you could argue well there was no gamble. You're paying him nothing. No. Here's what you gambled. You gambled. That you expected something out of him. How could anybody? I don't care. How many games he played spring training? How could anybody be surprised or woe is me that Troy to Lewinsky's on the I L he is a walking injured list? You knew this when they signed up course. And so if there's anybody to be mad at about this. It's the general manager he's the one who decided to bring in Troy to Lewinsky thinking what at thirty four. He was going to stay healthy. Really? Did you think that was going to happen? No. I understand the, bro. I I understand. I totally understand that. But you know. Lewinsky getting hurt with something you figured it was going to happen. Anyway, you didn't figure that everybody else in their brother was gonna wind up getting hurt. That's the issue and all those other guys getting hurt specifically into har- specifically him because it today in the field. Yes makes to guide his second year. You really didn't see any injury coming with him. And that's bad luck. I I worry that source that sucks. Right. Right, right. To Lewinsky getting hurt should have been expected. Yes. And so now the Yankees are in a position where Tyler Wade who's done a hell of a lot more complaining than hitting. It is majorly career I'm sorry. He's got an output up or shut up. Tyler Wade was upset. He didn't make the team, bro. You're a one forty career hitter. And guess what you're gonna get a chance to play down. Now, tyrod wordy tyrel Estrada's gonna get the call. He's a great story. This poor guy got shot in Venezuela a year ago, basically at a lost year in the minor leagues. Last year. He's a young guy. Maybe he'll get some pats get that chance, but the first crack here is for Tyler weight and to Tyler Wade put up or shut up pretty well one forty career hitter. But you know, what to his credit not to his credit, but to defend them, Dustin Pedroia came up to the major leagues didn't hit it. Stuck with Francona stuck with them stuck with it, really? And he's had a great career. So I'm not telling you Tyler. We can't have a great career. I'm telling you. It's time for Tyler way to go put up now. What a positive I think so far from the Yankees, you know, two and four start. You're not happy about it, especially against bad teams. But I, but I will say this the pitching has been good. I mean, that's a happy wasn't great. When he pitched I mean, starting pitching young guys that have pitched they've been good. I mean, I think that's the one positive. You've got to take away from the first six games. Yeah. And I think the the bullpen has overall been good about the problem yesterday. It was the same thing the day before is. Okay. So you're telling your bullpen and eat five innings from you. You get five innings out of your bullpen. They gave up two hits and one run overall. You'd say that's pretty good bullpen that its job bullpen pitch. Well when you're not scoring runs though. There's no margin for error. There is right now one hundred percent. So when a home run is given up by Chad grain to the immortal Gordon Beckham who at one point was a prospect believe it or not right, right? That's it. I mean, that's the baseball game. Because the offense is doing nothing. It just so you can't even sit here. Rippin Chad green Rippin the bullpen Ariffin anybody. They are pitching well enough. Like you said Joe to win these. Games scored any runs. No. That's the bottom line. And they still look I mean with all the guys you got hurt. You still got a lot of bats in his lineup. I mean, let's be on Aaron judge's is playing. You know, you still got Sanchez healthy bird is healthy is healthy. Glacier. G-l-a-c? Right. You've got labor out there. You know? I mean, even guy like God. I mean, he can he can hit. He's not the he's a major league. There's no doubt about that. So I mean, there are all guys here, you know, they can still, you know, get the DJ LeMay us probably been the most consistent hit it so far. So you got guys out there that can still hit. And you gotta do better than scoring. You know, five runs against the Detroit Tigers, no question. And we're the shadows of factor jokes aside. Of course, it was it's tougher for a hitter while you're facing a pitcher coming out of the shadows. But here's the problem. There is not a Yankee fan in the world who wants to hear Aaron Boone after a game kinda site that as a reason why they couldn't hit. Yes. And I thought this was a great point. I heard this this morning. I was listening to a guy by the name of. Hubs. Right. Big Yankee guy Marsh, Eric what are you laughing at me? He had a great line him and his cost on their podcast. Had a great line. I want to give them credit because I think it's okay. Right. So hubs in the other guy, which they Tommy these guys are taught and what is on boston'll. It's a podcast diehard Yankee fans. Okay from barstool. Right. And they were very funny because I was listening to their anger from the first six games, and I get it. I'm a baseball fan. I get upset and they said look we get it Aaron booties making the day to day decisions. It's the analytics, you know, sometimes these managers for things, they don't Calloway, right? But here's what they control they control. Their message after games when they have to answer questions that's on them. They are the Sarah Huckabee Sanders. They are the Ari Fleischer. They are want all the administration of that franchise. So Aaron Boone is going to be judge sometimes based on what he says. So when he says about Troy to Lewinsky's injury. Oh, I didn't. I didn't know. Yeah. All I know is Tyler wage in the game. I don't know. I haven't talked to him yet. Makes you look bad makes makes it look like. It's almost like not knowing that it's certain pitcher is left-handed picky. We won't get into line. Nice about you're right. When Mickey Callaway after a game explains not pinch running for almost the way. He did that's on him. And so I don't think any fan who understands it's only six games once the here in excuse when you couldn't hit the night before either. Right. The excuse of well, those shadows are tough yet. So we're booed and Callaway are really going to be judged, maybe more. So than ever is the way, they communicate the way they communicate with the fans the way they communicate with the press has God knows a lot of the decisions they're making they're not even making troops. I thought that was a good point by those guys. And I think it's true. And I think it works for the Mets as well that we're going to put a lot of stock maybe more than ever in their explanations more than their actions. One thing about the wise ago. I could be wrong about this watching him last year watching him yesterday. It's going to be an awesome reliever. And I don't mean that as a negative comment. You can see as the game goes on you start to see him better. He's control was hurt a little bit. He to me when the Yankees are healthy could. Could be a really good relief pitcher. I think that's just one area. Where the you know, they are stocked. No. I know I know still I mean, but you're right. No, I understand what you just making a prognosis. We'll say I mean, he, and that's why Boone taking him out after four innings made complete sense. I mean walked three guys in the fourth inning. Gary Sanchez ended up throwing are by the way. So we'll see I could be wrong about it. But I kinda project the wise ago to be a really good relief pitcher more than a starting pitcher. But hey, gave him four innings and so far one turn around the rotation other than j hat Joe. The starting pitching been really good doubt been it's been so far. Like, I said it's been the number one positive so far in the first six games for the Yankees. So look this team is going to hit like I said, they still got all the injuries. They still got a lot of bats in this lineup. They're going to get it going. I wouldn't be concerned about it. The Red Sox have not got off to a good start. I really wouldn't be. But the the the injury bug though has really bit them in a big way. And that's the one thing because they've really have piled up. Yeah. And I think when the season started we looked at their schedule and said boy, this is a really soft schedule. They could take advantage of I'm ever, boomer. And I'm sure he was half joking saying, yeah, they're going to start off seventeen and two. That's unrealistic that usually doesn't happen unless we're now seventeen and forty though they could potentially do that. Unless you're the eighty four Tigers starts like that don't happen. But keep this in mind. You never know when you're playing a team and how they're to be at the time. You play them right now. The Orioles are off to a good start right now. The Tigers are pitching, really. Well, Matthew Boyd now as at two starts in a row to start his season, including the one. Yes, they were striking everybody out where he's is striking a lot of guys out. You never know when you play the name any random team the Astros, which is actually next week. Right. They haven't played well, they get managers and hitting coach is thrown out of games because a bad umpiring. So it's more about when you face teams. And right now the team you wanna face based on all the injuries, they're dealing with. And the important thing is one of these guys gonna come back. Aaron Hicks is huge. Right now when is Aaron Hicks. Coming back, Ken mcgilla Newhall revolt surgery. There seems to be a little bit more optimism today than there was forty eight hours ago about into Har wind Giancarlo Stanton gonna come back. And then to your point the guys who are in the lineup, and I don't expect my talk. But ahead, I'm not even gonna kill him. He's not easy. A major Mike talk, man. He's mytalk talk man, but guys like Greg bird, and Tyler Wade who haven't prospects in this organization. He opportunity is right there in front of it. Is it definitely is much. You will you also need it from the guys that you know, you expect to get it from George Sanchez glaze Torres. He's guys got LeMay us been good young. You need these guys to hit. I mean, they gotta hit and they got to step up and hit one and a half knowing everybody striking out right now. Guy who's striking out a crazy clippers claim Torres. Yeah. He's been out a lot and he's off to a cool start. And now he's gonna get to play his natural position for the foreseeable future. Which shortstop? Yeah. But I just think with all these injuries, and we've experienced this as a met fan I experienced as a net fan with injuries that just pile up. And you you kinda shrug your shoulders and say, oh my God. This is just horrible luck to Lewinsky's. Not horrible lock. No, no. You knew. Yes. Upon signing him that there is a really really good chance. This was going to happen in d and for his sake. I hope he gets healthy. And I hope he proves me wrong and everyone else wrong, and it's a plane one hundred twenty games, but the track record says that's not gonna happen. Yep. You're right. We'll come back and get your calls Mets and Yankees, obviously, seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six the last four college basketball teams are facing off in the semi finals this week and the stakes not only high for them. They're pretty high for you. It's been a great tournament. We've seen some crazy upsets we've seen some star players. And now we're down to. The remaining four teams. Well, if you go to the fan sports book, this is what you can do for this big conclusion, you can win two hundred dollars on a five dollar bet. I didn't say that wrong. That is not a misprint two hundred bucks on a five dollar bet. Just go.

"But given that his injury short-circuited everything this season. I think you're fine. As long as he's healthy the problems start when he's not realize the producers of the show operate under a binary framework where washed is one of just two options. But we're talking about a guy who was out for seventeen gains. And since he's come back has averaged a triple double. He's not his best. He's a little banged up. But he's not the problem on the court. It's off the court where he's the problem, right? Because the reason why the Lakers are in this funk is that they put together a bad roster but role in that this Anthony Davis drama hasn't helped and everyone knows he wants the coach gun. Those are the causes of the Lakers discontent. Not la- groin struggling that. I did I say that. The senate. Brain growing. It doesn't feel good feels uncomfortable doing. But my father's about influence. That's true. Issue of them be right to point that the red for the Celtics. It is so much easier to point at the reps than at a mirror. Joel Embiid does not play well against Al Horford. This disticts are jarring when he was guarded by anyone other than Al Horford over the last fifty two possessions, he made forty eight of those baskets, but when he's playing against Al Horford, he's inefficient on both ends of the court. So what does he do with forty one seconds left in the game? He starts complaining that Al Horford is bothered him too much. He thinks he should have gotten a foul there. And where's the foul? Meaner? Should he have gotten a foul? Feels like. I mean, I mean, okay, fine. Now, I mean, okay fine fair enough. I think Dan's, right. Okay. So yes, that was a foul. He's wrong about that. But he is right about Al Horford. Having 'em beads number forcing him outside forcing to take ton of threes. And that's really the story of why the Celtics are able to beat the Sixers with such regularity. It's all about matchups Horford matches up well against them beat. They're able to hunt out Evan Teijin. Switches get Radic and McConnell limo guys on defense when they want them, even though Philadelphia after the trades is arguably the more talented team the Celtics simply matchup too. Well with them Boston smoked them in the playoffs last year and five games without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, they're ten and two in their last twelve against Philadelphia. This ownership extends beyond Horford into this as well. The Celtics have been changing altered this year by the feeling that they had expectations that no one had for them last year once they lost Irving. And once they lost Hayward now filling. Guelfi by virtue of a couple of trades. The expectations have fallen on them when they meet Boston. Boston knows. They have ownership over that team. You send anyone going to say it say what what went on said he Celtics are better without career. Oh, saying that he's father is saying it right there. That's right. That's interesting. That is the message. He gets five has saying okay spoken is his signature phrase. But he got it wrong. There. Was no scumbag, great Louisville, just choke on my father came in angry today at Louisville because Bobby had predicted an enormous upset Louisville overdue pay up twenty three points. Duke was getting slaughtered. People were going to bed saying Duke has a sure loss, and then you get the magical comeback from the novelty team the team that more people are paying attention to than any in this sport. This is about duke's greatness and a panic situation, and it's about Louisville having no answers at the end of the game in a way that looks scared. So after halftime witnessed and Louisville was up by double digits. I check the box score. And the leading score was a guy named Jordan Nora who you may have heard from this guy's lives yesterday in for a fleeting moment, I wondered to myself this whole time have I been sitting next to the most plugged in basketball analyst at the network, and then the comeback happened. It was immediately disabused of that terrifying..

Nick how much longer can they afford to be without LeBron James will they can't afford to be without them tonight. They're playing the team they are chasing for the eighth spot. But this is this is news. Now LeBron thought he'd be playing tonight and Luke Walton who when he was talked about this yesterday. He left the door open to LeBron playing tonight. And then about twenty minutes later, Lakers medical staff, they released it that he is out. This was the plan was firm to play tonight and be have a game under his belt before they play the warriors this weekend. And so I don't know if there was a setback. I don't know what happened, but the plan was for him to play tonight. And now, he's not playing you the most important thing outside of them saying he was going to play is that if they hadn't struggled if they hadn't been six in eleven with LeBron being it. Wouldn't matter that much they would be like Golden State when Steph coming back when he's ready to come back, and as we could see with the basketball stuff, very plate after strain this growing. He was ready to be on the court. Lebron is not ready to be on the court. This is the big difference between the NBA and the NFL NFL he'd be playing to and he'd be getting it out to the end of the this is the right thing for the Lakers long-term sticking with the team and all their trade. "Welcome back to the G M C basketball podcast. We just Hayward's injury for the Celtics and pay the civil in trouble. Who knows? But I think we also need another injury. Lebron James groin injury is a very big question. Mark on in the Lakers. Lakers organization as no one has said any word about his injuries, and he's been gone for since Christmas. And this might be torn groin who knows what's going to be going down. But fact, the matter is this injury is more serious than I think anyone thought. I mean thing it's more serious than the Lakers lead on. I wonder if they kind of knew that this was a sick more significant injury than what they reported right away. I mean, they said the MRI came back into wasn't torn. But at this point. If he is out an extended amount of time, you have to wonder if he does have a torn muscle because a strain doesn't really take four to six weeks to come back from you know. Yeah. True. If it's longer than four or five weeks you start thinking, okay. Did he tear muscle? Yeah. I think tearing is pretty serious for the groin muscle, especially, but I feel like that she needs surgery now. Yeah. You would think so. But I don't know maybe we should just bring your doctor friend on. We have two questions for your terrier groin muscle. Does it always require surgery? Mr. Peterson Dr Peterson doctor. I I think he's just a physician, but regardless I think, you know, that doctors or dentists doctors technically one are on earth or Utah dentists are doctors, I know that I have I have a friend. That's a dentist Dr O'Brien. Isn't that weird though, we at all, but like mentally perform surgery? Yes. Gum surgery that century. I I realized this is just kind of fun all surgeries are serious. Do you consider dentists doctors? Yes. Okay. You want to say to my friend, who's a doctor? Yeah. I do bring him on the show not gonna bring Dr O'Brien on the show doctors, you know, I know a few well one's dentist so it doesn't count, but you are scumbag for saying that. That's so rude kitty perform life saving surgery, another doctor. It's not fair. No, that's only a handful of doctors can do that. Or whatever your doctor in. Okay. If your doctor for a second if you're doctrine, you perform surges for muscles tendons in a knee surgery. That's not life saving surgery. But he's still call that. They could you know, like the could do it. Yeah. Because nee- in a harder to the same thing. All right. So let me ask you have to specialize in. That jury jeopardy. They need to go in for surgery. There's a doctor who performs who Dr James Andrews, for example. He does like he just forts injuries. We he's he's in trouble recently. He does sports injuries. And then you've got another guy who does dental dental surgery. So you need life same surgery, which one do you pick which one do you pick both the same thing? So you told me you'd Vic the dentist over the dude who actually goes into the human body to.

"What happens in that stadium on Saturday? If you feel it coming if you feel maybe the colts claw back a little bit. And you feel your natural urge to kind of pull bag a little bit. That fight that urge get out there yell scream. This is a young Colt offensive line. You will draw them off sides. They do get drawn off sides. You affect this week be loud be super loud and do not let that doubt creep into your mind. Just get loud. Stay loud for some penalties. The the nervous energy is not helping anything. Let's start expecting good things to happen because good things have already happened. And that good thing. Specifically is thrown fifty touchdowns and five thousand yards this year. I de Gress. Okay. Let's talk a little bit about this colts offense. I know everybody's a little worried about the colts offense at Ron Kopassus. How scary is the colts offense of line? If we can't get pressure on luck. How are we even going to be able to get stops? The colts offense of line is very. Very good. I say they're probably number two behind the Rams in my book. And that's not a slight the Rams offensive line is just ridiculously good as well. Andrew luck. Makes these guys look really good because he gets the ball out so fast. He is top ten in time to throw. But you know, the chiefs of seeing lots of guys that your this year. Derek Carr, Ben Rothlisberger, Tom Brady, Philip rivers. All those guys are quick throwers. So is Andrew luck. And they keep it in thrown short. So they really help out the offense of line and pass protection. But they are bolstered by some studs Quinton Nelson is a bona fide, all pro stud. He is ridiculous as great as is center. Ryan Kelly, Mark groin sqi. No sh he's he's not a scrub there right guard as well. So that interiors really tight really strong. They're fantastic. Keep an Andrew lucked clean up the gut, but they are slightly success. On the outsides Costanzo left to left tackle and Brayden Smith at right tackle, they offer them a lot of help they ship with running backs. They leave a lot of tight ends into block. They also will bring in Joe Hague as a six offensive lineman to pass blocks. So they're gonna throw down the field. Not just for run blocking purposes. Those guys do get a lot of help on the edges. Fortunately, that's where the chiefs succeed. So the chiefs will see one on one match ups on occasion against these guys d Ford with his been dean against Anthony Costanzo in his speed will be able to have some success and the deformed should be Justin Houston should be able to Chevron braid and Smith a little bit. They can't find a little bit of success in the past rush this week. But Andrew luck again is going to get the ball out quick. So I gotta get there. Quick. Darren de piggy asks what what the weakness on on the offensive line is. So are you saying that the? Tackles. I think it is the tackles. Yeah. There are glue Inskeep can be beat inside a little bit. Especially if Kelly is a combo blocking Brandon Smith inside they do do they pull a lot when they when they run block..
