The Virus Was a Pretext for the Nullification of the US Constitution

"Before this happened before virus patients were dumped like typhoid Mary into nursing homes in Democrat state after Democrats state of the Democrat state. Before that happened, Biden announced his main adviser and coronavirus was Ezekiel Emanuel, who had written that nobody should live past age 70 and to make that happen, you shouldn't even give lifesaving medications to patients over 70. So you got an advocate of euthanasia for the elderly as Biden's main adviser during coronavirus. At the same time that the Democrats in state after state after state dumped coronavirus Mary in nursing homes inflating their death statistics justifying the closure of churches, the state of emergency that forbade political meetings, remember Gretchen Whitmer was denounced by her state Supreme Court for violating the constitution of Michigan. She should be removed from office and then criminally charged for that. She won't be. Andrew Cuomo was using this coronavirus state of emergency in New York to justify seizing guns to justify nullifying the Second Amendment. He said the state of emergency caused by the virus gave him the power to suspend what remaining gun rights exist in New York State. So what we're seeing is the China virus was a pretext for the nullification of the constitution and the Democrats pushed as far as they could in as many places as they could. They didn't try to lock down of the kind we see now in Shanghai, where people are being padlocked in their homes to starve. But the only reason we're not seeing that is because they couldn't get away with it.

Democrats, It's Time to Head for the Lifeboats

"The Democrats are apparently, it's dawning on them how bad their situation is. And it's dawning on them that they put this complete loser in the lighthouse. I think Buddha is here or here, the correct word. And they're now realizing that he's like a millstone. He's dragging them down to the bottom of the ocean and there's a New York Times article, which is literally titled it's time to head for the lifeboats. Democrats are one point we're talking about, yeah, we're going to try to hold a house. We're going to try to hold a Senate. They've pretty much as it turns out, given up on the house. Margin right now is really narrow just a few seats. The house is basically gone. The Senate, there are a few Democrats who are like, we'll try to hold the Senate, but it's increasingly looking like even that's going to be really hard. For them to do, quote, it's going to be a terrible cycle for Democrats. This is a sauce make a former adviser to Clinton. There's an Obama adviser who says pretty much the same thing and apparently Democrats now at the local level are running away from Biden. In fact, there's a little funny detail here in the article Gretchen Whitmer quietly removed the president's name from news releases about federally funded infrastructure projects. So when people realize this is Biden, they react so negatively that Whitmer's like, let's take the guy that's laid out the guy's name. Like in the old days where you get the old whiteout and just wait him

Julie Kelly on the Government's Humiliation in the Whitmer Case

"And she's Julie Kelly, senior contributor for American greatness dot com and greatness dot com, Julie. Welcome back to our new America first studio. Well deserved fancy digs there, Seb. Well, thank you. I don't know about that. We've been working in the salt mines for three years now. So this is our reward, I guess. So you, on the other hand, have been working like a single handed news agency when it comes to January the 6th. We'll put up on the screen right now. The two books that you've already written, this loyal opposition on the never Trump movement, and then now most recently, January 6th, let's show that book, Eric, how Democrats use the capital protest to launch a war on terror against the political right. For those people who outrageously missed our discussion on newsmax just yesterday, let me start with the question I asked you there with the collapse of the whitler quote unquote fed mapping trial, which you introduced me to that phrase. And with an acquittal of Matthew Martin from the January 6th quote unquote, insurrection or fed direction, I don't want to count our chickens before they're hatched, but are we potentially seeing a chink in the armor of the political exploitation and weaponization of the federal law enforcement and Department of Justice Julie? Well, let's hope so. I mean, the verdict's in the Whitmer fed napping trial were stunning. I mean, you really can't overstate what a huge defeat this was for the Justice Department and certainly for the FBI. You had a three week trial, most of the witnesses for the government were FBI agents undercover agents, experts, the lead informant. And this whole case was built around the idea that these men got together plotted to kidnap and kill Gretchen Whitmer in the fall of 2020. But what the defense put together over a series of months in numerous court motions was a very compelling and ultimately convincing case of FBI entrapment. That was their argument that was their defense solely rested on the fact that the FBI attempted to induce these men who otherwise would not have tried to commit any of these crimes, induce them into this plot. That is what the jury concluded. They equated two men outright and the other two men, including the alleged ring leader, the jury could not come to any conclusion was hung jury, the judge declared a mistrial. And the Justice Department learning nothing apparently is planning to retrial retry Adam Fox and Barry cross

Julie Kelly: An Update on Alleged Kidnapping Case of Gov. Whitmer

"This Michigan alleged kidnapping plot Julie the trial could not have gotten any worse for the FBI which has had I think it's an understatement to say really bad 5 years Give us a summary what happened Why did the case fall apart And what happens going forward Are they going to try to retry any of them So this was of course the plot to kidnap and kill Gretchen Whitmer a case that made wall to wall national headlines as people were voting in the 2020 election the arrests were made in October 2020 Was revealed through these defense attorneys 6 men were arrested charged on federal counts of conspiring to kidnap and also use a weapon of mass destruction But what defense attorneys uncovered months of filing motion detailing very compelling case of FBI entrapment You had at least a dozen undercover agents and informants working out as numerous FBI field offices across several states who can cause this plot to stitch these men together who did not know each other prior to the FBI's involvement Which them together induced them into attempting to commit this crime at the end of the day during western Michigan rejected the government's case not a single conviction to men were completely acquitted And two men remain in jail this DoJ amazingly is trying to is planning to retry both of these defendants after the jury came back as a hungry on that recounts for those two men

Biden Department of Justice Suffers Stunning Defeat

"In a stunning defeat for the Biden Justice Department, a jury has acquitted two men, accused of conspiring to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer in the fall of 2020. The jury also deadlocked on a verdict for two other defendants, which meant a hung jury, a mistrial. So another way to put it is the DoJ in one of the most high profile terrorism cases. In which they put enormous resources, they could not convict a single defendant.

Right Scoop: Zero Guilty Verdicts Found in Whitmer Kidnapping Case

"It's our friend who writes scoop points out Zero guilty verdicts found at Whitmer kidnapping case The jury rendered verdicts today in the Whitmer kidnapping case against four men who were accused of trying to kidnap the Michigan governor Remember how that was exploited by the media the Washington compost the New York slimes the Trump haters Trump was behind this Trump and his supporters That's right No the FBI was behind it And their supporters So what did this federal grand jury find No guilty verdicts Two of the men were pronounced not guilty In a mistrial was declared for the other two and of course the U.S. attorney's office immediately said and we're going to go after those two again I'll tell you what Here's CNN a federal jury on Friday That would be today I found too many accused of plotting to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer not guilty of kidnapping conspiracy a mistrial was declared for two other defendants Adam Fox Barry Croft Daniel Harris and Brandon faced federal charges for allegedly conspiring to kidnap the democratic governor Harrison Concerta were found not guilty of kidnapping conspiracy The jury also found Harris not guilty in other charges The jury couldn't reach a verdict for Fox and Croft after which U.S. district judge Robert jonker declared a mistrial for those defendants all four defendants who pleaded not guilty Faced up to life in prison if convicted of kidnapping conspiracy

Gretchen Whitmer Kidnap Plot: 2 Men Acquitted, Hung Jury for 2 More

"And we are bringing you breaking news folks from The Associated Press, breaking jurors acquitted two defendants of conspiracy to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020, but couldn't agree on a verdict for two others. That means a hung jury for you people who are not in the court thing and guys, I have got this is a service we provide for you. Who is the best reporter on these legal issues right now? It is our friend from American greatness, Julie Kelly. I've got her on the line, Julie, break down what happened with his shocking and just verdict. So after 18 months of putting this case together, arresting these innocent men in October of 2020 to coincide with the election produced more bad headlines for Donald Trump, 18 months of putting this case together, numerous FBI field offices involved ruling by this judge who I really liked and did a great job, but nonetheless gave really the government everything that it wanted in terms of not presenting a lot of evidence about the eye correction to this jury. Nonetheless, DoJ walks away today with not a single conviction on four men charged with conspiracy kidnap Gretchen scratching Whitmer and conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, a firework with some pennies tape to it if you believe it. Two men are acquitted two men hung jury the deadlocked on their guilt or innocence. Now, Julie, was it deadlocked on all the counts or were they acquitted on some? The two men Daniel Harrison Brandon Concerta worked on all charges, the other two matched Adam Fox two with the alleged ringleader and Barry cross junior, the jury dead last on every count with them as

Jurors Begin Deliberating Case of Alleged Plot to Kidnap Gov. Whitmer

"The Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping trial is concluded. The case is not before the jury that could be a verdict today tomorrow any time soon. And the real issue is what will the jury find? Will they find these defendants guilty for participating in the kidnapping scheme or will the defense prevail? As I hope it does, that these guys were entrapped by the FBI. Now, it's not very easy to prove entrapment. I was listening to a judge jonker, basically give jury instructions, and he spelled out what you need to prove in order to show entrapment. I'm going to read what you need to prove. A defendant is entitled to an entrapment instruction. If there is sufficient evidence from which a reasonable jury could find entrapment. The defense of entrapment has two elements. One, government inducement of the crime and two a defendant's lack of predisposition to engage in the criminal activity. So in order to warrant an entrapment, a defendant must come forward with evidence of support both elements. So in other words, he has to show that the government did indeed induce the crime and second that the defendant or defends themselves would not have gone ahead on their own. Now, Adam Fox, the guy who was supposedly led this plot. This guy is a broke, emotionally vulnerable addict. Who was apparently looking for company and looking for people who would affirm him and looking for people that he could sort of call Friends. And he ran into this guy named big Dan, a big Dan, he didn't know. This guy was a one time Wolverine watchman, a kind of a militia guy, but it turns out he had become an undercover informant for the FBI.

Which States Look Good for Republicans in 2022?

"Now governor two points political points to close out here. First of all, you've got to tell whoever you're executive director is the poorer person has scheduled a meeting in Washington, D.C. in January. You're going to get a foot of snow today. So I go talk to your executive director and say, you know, you got to get more practical. We really should be out in the west in January, not in the beltway. I don't know who you've got in that job, but really, you've got to talk to them about that. But number two, which states look good for Republican pickups this fall. In the governor House in the state houses. So in terms of the Republican governors association and those races, we always protect our incumbents first, we keep our red states red and Hugh never has there been a greater contrast between Republican leadership and Democrat leadership. So there's a lot of states that are on the map to turn them over. So we're very much on office. You can look at states like Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Kansas, New Mexico, and Nevada, are all on our target list. So we've got a lot of supporters in town for this meeting. People are very excited. They think that people like Gretchen Whitmer have earned the right to be removed from office because of her bad policies during the COVID era and we intend to maximize that.

Yes i know that a lot of the time your competitors right but you can so much from your competitors and i think it's fine suggests let's grab coffee. Yeah because. I need to talk to someone who understands my pain or pick your buying or and i've seen some connections and relationships just flourish and they end up even though their competitors or their or their team is playing football against each other they'll perform together. I mean in the death makes it a really cool a really special thing and it makes the coach. Feel like hey. I'm not doing this by myself and this is really fun. Yeah that's awesome. I agree yeah okay so we were talking even before we started recording about the pandemic and you know the the hardships that Especially somebody that's working in travel like you or like events like that. Yeah it's i'm sure it has been really hard But what i'm trying to do is just focus on the positives because there have been some positives that have come out of this mess. So what are some positives that have come out of this for you and You know i think it. Just that's how. I like to end and on a note positively positively. What's something that maybe you do differently because of the pandemic that you're going to continue doing or positive trend that you're saying well personally for myself When everything shut down and obviously travel everything was cancelled Once i got through all the process of everything cancelling it got kinda quiet right and the only thing i could do engage with my customers and ask them. "I'd like to report our feckless governor Gretchen Whitmer. We literally killing people, but not provided on a second. Let me just jump in real quick and thank you so much for the call. You know it's interesting because I just looked at an article today. It's from last week, but it's coming out of Idaho. Of all places. Big shout out to all of our listeners in Idaho. And it's not so much about the pros or cons of these. These, um Benefits of drugs like I ever met in and hydroxychloroquine, But it's about how I remem has disappeared from pharmacies because of there's the demand for it right. There's such a high demand for it that they just can't keep the shelves stocked. In I've ever met in pharmacies. And this in particular in Idaho, which I thought was interesting, because you know, we used to rely on a free market and we used to pay attention to the things that worked and it seems like we're in bizarro land now. We're in a place where what was no longer is

"I'm Gretchen Rubin and this is a little happier. I heard this story from a friend I know well and because I know her well. I know a lot about her family so I know that she has a very close family with loving generous parents who are also very a loving and generous grandparents and she told me this story about her parents at one point. One of their granddaughters became very interested in dollhouses. Now I know this stage well because both my daughters went through very intense dollhouse stages. This granddaughter had very simple under furnished version of a dollhouse and she desperately wanted a more elaborate one. She talked about how she would furnish it and arrange it and she loved looking at pictures of dollhouses dollhouse furniture and miniatures so with all good intentions the two grandparents went out and bought a beautiful dollhouse and even more than that people all the furniture for it. It was a fully furnished dollhouse the little dining room table and chairs the little. Bathtub sink even the tiny visa flowers and various kinds of food for the kitchen so cunning and their granddaughter was overjoyed and she played with that dollhouse for a day and she never played with it after that and I was thinking why reflecting on my own daughters way of playing with our dollhouse especially my younger daughter Eleanor who was far more engaged with the dollhouse. I realized that this story perhaps. Illustrates an observation by the philosopher Bertrand Russell who wrote in his fascinating book the conquest of happiness that to be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness. I've thought a lot about that statement and whether I agree with it one hundred percent or not. I'm not sure that I do agree with it but this dollhouse example strengthens his case. My daughter's liked the process of furnishing the dollhouse the furnishings. Fishing's are expensive so they would get the pieces slowly something for a birthday something for Christmas or perhaps my mother would take them to the tiny dollhouse store in our neighborhood to choose something as a special treat when she came to visit New York City they yearn for something thing they plan and then when the time came they get it in the meantime they had to make do with what the had some children love to improvise using an empty Spool as a stool for instance but Elisa Eleanor Day didn't do that. They just played with whatever they had and. And whenever they got something new they'd arrange and rearrange it repeatedly and the fact is it's so fun to go to a dollhouse store and pick out the cunning little items there is so perfect and tiny and without even realizing it and with the most loving of intentions these grandparents had given themselves much of the fine and taken away much of the fun. I'm not sure that I agree with Bertrand Russell that it's always true but it's certainly true that sometimes.

"Gretchen Rubin writer who studies happiness good habits. Outer order nature. I'm in New York City, and with me is my sister, lists us craft my sister. The sage that's meal is crafted TV writer and producer living in LA, and Gretchen. I definitely feel that doing this podcast has made me wise. We'll be four. We jump in. We have an interesting update from our listener, Donna. Yes, she said in twenty eight teen I listed more music for one of my eighteen for eighteen. I wasn't sure how would play out, but I began being more mindful of ways to have more music again in my life. I had been in two singing groups in high school. A traveling choir in college played several instruments at cetera in my former life before mom, and professional as the kids left home. I was having a bit more time. I wanted to join a choir, but at the same time my mom suffered worsening dementia had a stroke and was wheelchair and assisted living bad. I started traveling three to four hours a week to see her I tried to make our visits meaningful. But we stopped having things to talk about despite including her table mates favourite things, they have done their past one day while attending a funeral. I noticed how rich the words were in the carefully chosen. Hymns my next visit I asked each of my mom's tablemates, what their favorite hymn was from that conversation. I decided volunteered have him sing once a month for the residents that were interested. Funny thing, one pastor at the assisted living said, I can't sing, but I love hearing the old hymns and he sits in listen, sometimes singing a few others who seem very quiet will perk up to sing an old favorite. They often know the words, my mom has always loved to hear me play. In fact, as a teen, she would let me off dishwashing duty by practice. My Pia no effective idea, parents, I was aware that I am not that great of him player. But my spouse reminds me you're much better than the concert pianist to isn't there. We always end with the non him. You are my sunshine, the most sung song and any music event of the facility. So who knew that my more music, eighteen would result in me practicing almost daily again and playing. Hymns at an assisted living, not so nice this because it's solves it achieves so many purposes, all at once for her for these other for her mother for other people who she didn't even set out to help, she's found a way on. It's interesting. I reading hurt note. I reminded me of some research that I'd read, and I actually looked up, and I will post a link to New York Times article that talks about this research that research shows that even when all other means of communications have shutdown people respond and remember music, and apparently music memory less better than verbal memory because it's processed across many parts of the brain. And so it's stored in more locations. And so this is this is a great way to reach people who may be are don't do have trouble, speaking, and communicating that way. But who can respond to the sound of music, and to the words of a song and? I just wanna point out her saying that she was more mindful about ways to incorporate it just points out how if something's on your brain. It helps you just be aware of it incorporated into life, which is why the eighteen eighteen nineteen for nineteen lists are so great to begin with. Yeah. Exactly. And sort of related Lee. We talked about invest in your identities. And in the responses, we got many people talked about identities related to music, sort of, like, she's saying, I had this very strong identity when I was in high collagen is sort of fell away. It's interesting to me, how many people mentioned music related identities. And maybe it's because as children, there's so much structure around it, because it's like you have to take piano lessons, and then high school and college..

"So if she is she, I think she's kind of escaping into a, a land of, you know, beyond maybe conventional the framework, but yeah, I think she's clearly in oblige. I mean, look at her whole her all backstory. I mean, would she did with her brother said, she ate the stallion heart? She was going. I mean, she wasn't behaving the way look at aria are is like, yeah, I'm not going to do that. I mean, she just wouldn't you know, riding a real rebel is like, yeah. I'm not gonna do that. They just see a different set of possibilities, because they district coming from a different place. One thing and I think, mom pointed this out to your somebody pointed out, just Brienne is an upholder, which is nice because there to kind of negative versions of an upholder with Stanton, anti Taiwian. But like brianna I think is an upholder. So that was nice to see that. She's so you like having a good. I like having a new poll. Yeah. And if you have no idea what we're talking about. Of course, go to the quiz. Quiz dot Gretchen Rubin dot com, and you will find out your own tendency and learn about the tendencies, and I, I did a post, and we talked about it on an episode about the tendencies in game of thrones. So I will post those in the show notes, if you want to go deeper into a close reading of all of the characters and their tendencies graduation. I tell you a new series that was presented to me yesterday about what's going to happen with Jon snow, interesting. Yes. So the theory which I hadn't heard is that John is gonna end up back at the wall that there is going to be evidence that white Walker still exist, because they were around for ten thousand years, and that they need to rebuild the wall, and that John is gonna take himself back to the wall and be the head of the wall. Which I just I thought that would would be a fitting end, for John, if it's not death. I like seeing him at the will see now I thought he would rejoin the free folk and go beyond into the true north because someone torment said he would rejoin ghost. But yeah, I didn't think about the wall. But yeah, maybe that's like that idea. Yeah. Well, don't we know that the night king has been destroyed before didn't brand say that? So maybe he does kind of come back or something. I don't know. I don't. So that's interesting. Well, either one of those I like I always thought he would die because he's kind of technically already dead hole. Thing is like you have to die. Yeah. You know, once year sir, once your purpose is served. Yes, bed. Maybe his purpose hasn't been completely, sir. And so he can't die yet. Well, there was a period where I thought, what was going to happen with The Danny would go back and rule on the other side of the narrow sea. Because remember, she said people love me there. They look at me that way there. And I'm like those are real people like why do you have to be the ruler of these people because you think you have this claim to it while you don't have the right claim to it. So go back to the people who actually want you to rule them who love you. And, and who you've already kind of ruled? So go back, and then, so then I thought, well, it could be whoever on the iron throne her there. And then John could go north but I don't think Danny now is gonna come out of this. I mean she's beyond beyond. Yes. She's not going back to marine, but so sunset, do you know what is a great moment that no one ever talks about science? I thought this was so lovely because there's a lot of people in the show asking.

"Gretchen it is time for demerits and gold stars. You're up this week with a happiness demerits. Yes. This is sort of like cobbler's children going unshod or physician heal. They self like I've been saying you like, oh, I'm going to come to Los Angeles. And we're going to clean your office. And it's going to be amazing. But then I look on my own office. I thought you know, what I need to do some work right here. You know? Oh, that's funny. Yeah. No, I went through my shelves. And I was like stuff is distorted to pile up like things just gather and stay there and clog up the system unless you're pretty ruthless. And so I realized that I was getting very fired up to help you clear clutter, and I needed to clear my own clutter for so spent a lot of time in my office. Now, it's feeling much lighter and less burden with junk. Well, it makes me feel better that like you all. Also have clutter gather. It's not just me, you it happens to the master. It happens all the time. It's not something that you can just do and be done. It's something it's gotta be a habit because maintenance, it's maintenance, exactly. So what's your gold star take us up? All right. Well, I am giving a gold star to Jack's teacher MRs Herrington because she did something that I thought was so great. So we had gotten a notice from the school saying, hey, it's time for mid term progress reports, but you'll only get a progress report if something is wrong if you hear nothing just assume all as well. But then MRs Harrington went out of her way to write Jack, a really great progress. The nice, so we got a progress report the mail, I thought, oh, no something's wrong. We got a progress report. But in fact, she'd gone out of her way to talk about all the progress. He's made Dingley resembled to read it to him. It made him feel great because he said to work really hard third grade. He's not. Like a walk in the park. And it was just I thought what a great teacher to say. Like, even though I could save myself time, and I go out on my way for a student. I just really appreciate it, which I did Email her and tell her so she knows when people are really trying harder. It's so reassuring and satisfying. When somebody's like, hey, I see that you're working hard. And it's really paying off like to get that recognition. What a great teacher. Yeah. She's wonderful. "Invest in progress to listen, this is a happiness hack that appeals to you and me as people who love to read. Yes. This comes from Chelsea. She says one resolution changed my life setting a bedtime alarm. I wanted for so long to be able to read more books setting my alarm at he forty brings me out of the social media coma. I fall into so easily at night reminds me, hey, if you want to read more here's your chance since implementing it several months ago, I've been able to join a book club and have read so many books. I actually do have the time to read now. So I take this to be Gretchen technically, she's setting an alarm for bedtime. But I'm calling this set an alarm to read. Yeah. Now, she describes it as a temblor, but it's you can use an alarm to get yourself moving in whatever direction he wants. So this is a great idea about how to just make sure you find the time for whatever you want. And as she said, she's. Reminding herself. Hey, if you want to read more, here's your chance, that's a great thing even for rebels or people who don't like to tell themselves. What to do reminding you love to read you want to read? Now, you can read if you feel like reading, I think, it's this brilliant solution. Yes. So thank you Chelsea. And now, this is know yourself better question that I have been thinking about lately, which is does your appearance match your personality. Well, first of all, I think this is an intriguing question. But why like why does it matter? Well, I think it matters because whether we want to or not we convey a lot of information to other people through our appearance and some aspects of that are within our control and some aspects are not within our control which can be frustrating. So I think it's good to be aware of how you might be coming across just through. How you look. So you can take that into account just as you move through the world, right? And maybe you want to take deliberate steps in the way, you look. So that you feel. Like, your appearance is more closely aligned with your real self yelich. I had this thing where I just looked so corporate like that is the way if I am just in my natural state. I just looked so corporate on your yoga pants, but when you're dressed in anything, but yoga. Yeah. I just go very corporate. My hair goes corporate just everything about me. I look like the lawyer that I was trained to be and for this reason, I almost never wear jackets like because I just feel like it just makes me look so so so corporate, and I don't feel like I don't feel like I am so corporate and that's not the aspect of my personality. Like, insofar as I am sort of corporate. I that's not that I want to be like putting front and center. So I try to like not play into it like by by knowing that it happens. Well, one thing Gretchen I noticed the other day you were on CBS morning talking about loneliness. Yeah. And I must say I noticed that you were sitting up so. Great. It made you look very corporate isn't it was so like stiff, and I wanna say unnatural 'cause you're very natural on television. You know, what you say, but you are sitting up ramrod straight. And I noticed like Gayle king was kinda comfortable in her chair and everybody else was like a little more relaxed. So I think that might be something that causes you to look really corporate is how your your posture is so perfect. Well, I have to say, I usually my posture is not perfect. And I think I was probably channeling mom. He's always like remember to sit up straight. She's always emphasizing good posture. So because I was on TV. I was probably like really because I was sort of, you know, like little anxious probably really over like, meaning after the, you know, over pasta rising myself, I will post a link to the clip so you can look and and people can see whether they think I'm sitting up straight. I cannot bear to watch myself on TV. So I will not watch this. But listen, I really curious to hear if our. Listening with me, or if they just think I'm like, the little nitpicky little sister your area, very curious..

"Gretchen it is time for demerits and gold stars. And you are up this week with a happiness to merit yet. And this is something I know so much better than this. Like one of my things is to kiss in the morning kiss at night. Another one of my resolutions is to give warm, greetings and farewells. I always want to be creating like an attentive tender atmosphere at home at the other day. I realized Jamie had come into the apartment. He talked to me a few times he'd wandered in and out, and then we were like off to bed, and I'm like, I didn't spend one minute actually like looking him in the eye and talking to him. I was like reading a book that was really interesting. I had a lot of my mind. I was just like running around doing various household tours. And I'm like, I did not have one moment of honest sincere connection with Jamie. And I was you know, realized this is he was already asleep, and I was falling asleep. And I thought you know, what that's just not good. That's the demerits and tomorrow, I'm going to do better because it just it's just life as much happier. When you put down your book or stop, you know, sit down for a minute. And just really connect with everyone in your household. So I learned comforting to know that sometimes you don't follow your own advice. Yes. That happens very frequently. And that was one time. So let's take us up. What's goldstar? Alright. Gretchen I'm giving a gold star. And I'm sure you'll want to join me in this to our mother because she has done something this year that she's been meaning to do for years, and that we've wanted her to do, but that was a big hassle because you know, mom has an incredible collection of Christmas, really beautiful decorations. Many of them are Santa's that's the majority, but really beautiful interesting varied types of Santa's and other Christmas decorations than handmade or unique like very special. Yes. And getting everything up every year is like a two or three day process for her suffered for that. Because he thought yes, how all gold star for doing this every year because we love it. But this year, she photographed everything and made like shudder fly book of all of the different decorations. She's now in the process of going through the book and writing down what everything is and where she got it. And why it matters sort of? And this is just an invaluable tool for all of us to have because we care so much about this stuff. But of course, we have been, you know, ten years old when she got something and have no idea where it came from. So this is just a great sort of family archive of Christmas decorations and also for you, and I are not she's really good at arranging things, and you and I are not good at that. But so since we have photographs of the way, she did it you, and I can just like, you know, get ideas for how to copy what she's done for ourselves. So it's also it's it's kind of catalogue of everything she hasn't also how she goes about arranging the mantelpiece or something where I'm like, why does my mental outlook as good as her mantelpiece? But I'm like, okay. I need the pine needles. I need the swaggie. I need, you know, guess and. Years go by she sort of giving us more and more things because she has a lot. Yeah. So it's helpful for us in that way. But it is a huge undertaking. So absolutely. I second gold star because I'm super excited that she's doing it. And it's it's a big task. And she's well on her way now. Yes. So good, you mom, and then is it for this episode of happier. Remember to try this home follow a ritual of completion. Let us know if you tried it. And if it worked for you. Thank you to our terrific guests, Abby L in her book is duped double lives false identities and the con man, I almost married. Cast dot com slash 202 for everything related to this episode coming up we've got a happiness hack about how to have better conversation with your taciturn child. I spring. So let's have a happiness hack that is a way to foster conversation by making it feel like a game. Yes. This comes from Christine. She says I have three boys. My seven year old is a rebel nine year old is a questioner and twelve year old is an holder. My husband, and I are oblige IRS whenever we ask our kids to tell us about their day. We get the usual good or nothing the oldest will respond to specific questions and we'll sometimes elaborate, but the other two no, so occasionally, I'll ask them rapid fire quiz style. Questions to find out more about their day things like favorite friend today. Slowest time period. Best subject most enjoyable playtime. Funny. A senior teacher said it's cetera. This really gets them to open up, and I hear little snippets of their day that make me feel like I was right there with them. The categories are limitless. And they like the rapid fire. Style. So they can just answer and move on. But usually, it leads to more detail. It's really helped our communication as they sometimes ask me questions actual conversation. I love this. Because Gretchen for sure with Jack. I'm like how is your day? Good. What happened nothing? I mean. It's exactly what she's saying. Let's funny too. Because I was at a parents meeting of eighth grade parents and the parent of an eighth grader was complaining about this. And I was like I have a solution for you to try try this hack and so. Warnings. I suggested this to somebody and she seemed like really excited to try it. So I think it's a really smart tip. Yeah. So thank you, Christina. Do it with Jack. Yeah. Excellent. "If you're listening today is the last day to get twenty percent off my new twelve month. Video course, the happiness project experience. Register at courses dot Gretchen, Rubin dot com slash happiness. And of course, you can go there. Even after January second that's just for the the discount and listen this week that try this at home. Tip is to use the checklist for habit change. And this checklist is one page free PDF that you can download you can go to Gretchen Rubin dot com slash resources, or I'll put a link to it in the show notes or you can Email at podcast Gretchen Rubin dot com, and I'll send it because in this cluster episodes. We've talked about various ways to approach the new year to have a happier. Twenty nineteen. And then today, we're really going to focus on have it changed because for you and me both in for a lot of people. What we're thinking about is trying to change a habit. And so this is a checklist that's meant to make it easier to think about how to be smart about how you try to change your habits when you're writing the happiness project and happier home, you realize it so much happiness is around habits. And then that inspired you to write better than before about how to change habits and we've talked before about your checklist for habit change. But it's so useful to review you have. So. Many ways people can like set themselves up for success. I printed it out. I have a right in front of me. It's it's a lovely list with many options. So let's go over some of the ways that people can help themselves. Yeah. And because you don't like something like eighty percent of resolutions or abandoned by February. So you really want to set yourself up for success? And I think sometimes when people see the long lists that they're Twenty-one. They think oh, this is too many just give me three. But it's better to have a big list because then you can pick and choose the ones that are right for you. So I think it's helpful to think about all the options. So you really can tailor it to the kind of person you are. So here the Twenty-one strategies to contemplate into what you might do. If you had the checklist will have a change. Let's say at the top of the page were like I want to exercise or like I want to meditate every day something like that. Then we'll just pick one meditate every day. So that's what you put at the top of the checklist because that's what you're working on two. Now, you're thinking, what of all the strategies? Can I use toward that aim? So I as the four tendencies use, you're are you an upholder? Questioner obliged, sir rubble. That's huge writes, the self-knowledge know, yourself know, yourself, first and foremost before you pick these acid. I don't know who you are. Yes. Yes. Like if you know, you're an obliged. You're going to set things up in a very different way than if you knew your rubble, and again, I'll post a link to the quiz if you haven't figured out your tendencies yet, I'm seeing user, Tennessee. Another one is distinctions because distinction goes into self knowledge again, which is like are you a morning person and a night person? That's gonna make a difference when it comes to work process. Are you marathoner who likes to work start early and work steadily and not come against a deadline or you a sprinter who likes to do everything at the last minute or you an under buyer like me, and you you're an under buyer Elizabeth or over buyer like people have different challenges depending on dislike what kind of people there. And then Gretchen you have your pillars of habits. These are the four things that you think are sort of the basics on how you can keep a habit going, right? So one is monitoring just by monitoring how much you do something you tend to do a better job. So if I write down every penny I spend I'm probably going to do a better job of spending wisely. Even if I'm not trying to change what I spend you just kind of makes you do a better job. So one is monitoring foundation is like okay first things, I think about your body..

"I'm Gretchen Rubin. A writer who study happiness. Good habits in human nature. I'm in New York City, and with me as my sister was craft and Elizabeth office birthday parties are a big challenge for you in what you do not so much for me. That's me, Elizabeth craft TV writer and producer living in LA and Gretchen I have to think are many listeners who offered advice about dealing with my messy closet feel your pain they want how they were. I appreciate their thoughtfulness. Yes. Many people think I should put a door on the closet. It is thousands of dollars. Which is why we didn't do it in the first place. But it is something for me to think about for the future people's suggested other ways of sort of rigging up a door not putting in a whole door, but kind of doing a door which sort of don't work for your space. They were good ideas that sorta didn't write or space. Yeah. And then Gretchen one idea. Stuck with me, which I think is a great one is para, it's pairing thing. It's that they do that. I shouldn't put on my beloved slippers because I love getting home getting on my slippers, and my robe and till I put away my clothes for the day. So that would be a way to ensure that I am taking care of my clothes weather. It's putting it in the laundry basket hanging. It back up putting into the dry cleaning pile, whatever it is dealing with it rather than just leaving it on the floor, which is what I usually do. So I'm going to try that. That's good. That's good. And also before we want to jump in and remind everybody that January second..
