CDC reverses statement on airborne transmission of coronavirus, says draft accidentally published

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention removed language on Monday from its website that said, the coronavirus spreads via airborne transmission. It's the latest example, the agency backtracking from its own guidance. The agency says the guidance that went up on Friday and largely went without notice until Sunday should not have been posted because it was an early draft they hadn't been approved evidence that the virus floats in the air has. been mounting for months with an increasingly loud chorus of Aerosol Biologists pointing to super spreading events in choirs at churches on buses in bars, and another poorly ventilated spaces. They cheered when the CDC seem to join them in green the coronavirus airborne although CDC officials maintain Fridays post was a mistake Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill are incredulous and promised subpoenas an investigation to figure out what's really going on behind the scenes. This change on the website on Monday is the third time that trump's CDC has posted significant coronavirus guidance only to quickly reverse stance. It's also the latest disorienting turn in a significant scientific debate with enormous public consequences for how we returned to schools and offices the debate over whether the extreme infectiousness tenacity of the virus is due to its ability to spread well over six feet especially indoors and small particles that result from talking shouting singing you're just breathing many experts outside the agency say the pathogen can waft over considerably longer distances than six feet to be inhaled into our respiratory systems especially, if we're indoors and air flow conditions or stagnant. What's clear from such cases is that while the virus Shirley spreads slowly in households among family members, it also spreads rapidly at indoor events. The bring lots of folks together. Meanwhile against that backdrop, an NIH press staffer is being pushed out after being exposed as a secret anti. Mask Blogger, William crews, a public affairs specialist at the National Institute. And the White House has also again move to shake up the personnel office at the Department of Health and Human Services. After a series of IMBROGLIOS, the trump administration yesterday removed its top two liaisons between the White House and the Health Department Emily Newman and her deputy. Catherine GRANATO will be shifted work fulltime at the Voice of America. Newman already has spent more than three months detailed to the global media agency as its chief of staff which politico reports has meant that Grenada who was literally an undergraduate at the University of Michigan this Spring and is in her early twenties has been in charge of the entire health departments personnel policy amid pandemic that has killed more than two hundred thousand. And the numbers themselves are still really bad a third of states or seeing new case numbers that are at least seventy, five percent of their peak infection numbers. The most recent ten thousand American deaths were added in just the last nine days three fewer days than the ten thousand deaths that preceded those. On a positive note, fewer of those infected with the virus or dying than earlier in the pandemic, and that's great news. But the ongoing addition of new cases means an ongoing edition of new deaths and cases keeping at it.

"Delivery, south by southwest. Twenty nineteen isn't just about films, politicking designers and social media founders. There's also gadgets there to checkout. Enter LG Snow White. It's a concept machine designed to let you easily make ice cream at home. The Snow White is basically like a Keurigs featuring a pod based system that allows you to choose the base in flavor for variety of frozen desserts. That means it isn't just limited to ice cream. You might also be able to make Jill auto Grenada sorbet yogurt and a whole lot more. I say might because LG is adamant that the Snow White is only a prototype right now. This is more about showing off. What the company thinks it can create for your home that said L G just introduced it's automated Homebrew machine at CS 2019. So the Snow White could eventually become a reality. If it does L says you'll be able to make ice cream gelato and any other desserts listed above in two to five minutes. In addition to that to the system can clean it self and may offer both touch screen and physical dial for controlling its settings considering the popularity of Keurigs the Snow White isn't a bad idea. Now, I just hope LG add some sort of smartphone integration in the future because that would make my life even easier could just pull out my phone using apt to tell the Snow White to what to do and in a few minutes. Well, you have your ice cream waiting for you in the kitchen ultra lazy

"Joy and in. You know, searching EBay. You know, I know that was actually kind of fun for you. We've talked. It was a it was it was kinda hectic to my wife was, you know, a little concern for moment 'cause I got really into it. And I was just you know, I was so focused on getting making this work. But the outcome. You know, boy, you saved you know, you saved half in you paid for it. You don't have a lease you don't. And Furthermore, you're not locked into an eighty thousand dollar upgrade every time. The latest upgrade comes out, and you have some independence on that. So John thank you for sharing your story. And sure your path I wanna switch gears, and you and I have a number of there's at least three things that that we have in common one. We're both passionate about dentistry. Secondly, we we both enjoy surfing and third. We both ride motorcycles thread allows a transition into this cool work, you do charity work, you do in Mexico, would you mind sharing that story with our listeners? Sure. Sure. Well, since about two thousand six I've been part of flying Samaritans, we go down in Mexico. There's number clinics down there, and they didn't really fly in on private planes, and we work in clinks down there night. And I and I typically work out the one that he you which is just ten miles north of Grenada grow. So this for for our listeners may not be familiar with. Mexico geography, this is in Baja California, it's about half of them. Yes. Got halfway down the roughly halfway down the peninsula just about exactly halfway done a peninsula. And but I've also been a motorcyclist specifically dual sport and dirt bikes whatnot. And I've had and and I would ride down there with friends and then one day, I'm in the plane, and I'm looking down. I'm seeing all these trails and all these stuff and thinking well shoot, I'm just rise of the clinic. And so the recipe would fly, but I would I would ride down there, and I would make like a small of AK out of it. And you know, and just kind of right about a water. You know, maybe stay on the east side or the west side and get down there in about two or three days, and and sweat. So I started doing that. And I have a couple of buddies go with me. And then they there was a photojournalist. I got a hold of it. And he did a story on me back in twenty twelve. And then so I've just been doing that ever since and and we're going down again in March. So I'm putting my team together for that. And we're just we're just really looking forward to we have a we have a new clip. Now, we we had one there. It was pretty small. We had about three chairs and we've since built the new one started in twenty twelve that's pretty funnels actually, pretty nice. It's not bad. And so now we go down there, and we basically do definitive dentistry. You know, we don't do like root housing that if either it's basically fillings or extractions, hygiene cleans, and so we keep it pretty I try to keep it pretty definitive. I I really don't wanna take any work away from from the guys that make their living down there. But, but I wanna do things I can kind of help people that normally wouldn't be able to get that care, and that's part. And I know we've talked about it. But I know the just the joy you get from that. And the pleasure you get from helping people that wouldn't receive care. Otherwise man is regarding the battery for you, isn't it. Oh, that's fantastic. Yeah. Absolutely fantastic. It it's great when you can have one passion. But it's it's really great. When you combine a couple of them. So for you. It's about six hundred miles south of the border. Yeah. I know I've traveled extensively through behind know. What those trails are like and writing a dual sport motorcycle..

"Reagan's invasion of Grenada. He's going to try and come up with a low risk conflict that will draw everybody's attention away. From what's going on? The problem is I don't think there's any low risk conflicts left in the world right now given out polarized everything is, and and you know, and this guy I mean, trusting Donald Trump, not to make a misstep on the international stage is is like thinking you can run through a minefield and not be unscathed. I mean, it's just it's crazy. Dave spot. I think you're right. You're listening to the Thom Hartmann program called to eight hundred eight ninety nine twenty-five. Anything goes Friday on the Thom Hartmann program back with your calls on your media support group for we the people right here. Stick around. Hartmann university book club today, we're reading from. It's even worse than you think. What? The Trump administration is doing to America by David k Johnston. This is page sixty one the chapter titled forgetting, the forgotten man in two thousand ten the US department of labor created a website to honor workers who died on the job, quote, more than forty five thousand workers forty five hundred workers excuse me, lose their job lies on the job every year, the lower the names of just a few who have died in recent months. Osias mission is to prevent workplace injuries illnesses and death, and quote that occupational safety and health administration web page was intended to highlight and humanize workplace deaths to ensure awareness of tragedies. Especially those that could have been avoided. According to Joe, Joe, Jordan Barabbas, an assistant secretary of labor during the Obama administration Barra explained without information like this fatality statistics are just roster. L numbers. The purpose of adding names and circumstances was to impress people with a tragedy that workers and their families face day after day in August 2017 seventeen Trump's Labor Department quietly removed the preamble and the names when it killed the webpage. It also took down. Without public announcement the fatality inspection data for all years prior to 2017. Those are just two of many other Trump administration actions inimical to worker safety others included, no longer posting press releases about deaths resulting from unsafe working conditions delaying rules to reduce sickness and death from inhaling silica and beryllium at work delaying rules to lower the risk of railroad. Engineers and truck drivers falling asleep at the switcher wheel because of untreated sleep apnea and the appointment of a to the supreme court of a judge who held company had the right to fire a worker who chose not to freeze to death on the job a reasonable person listening to Donald. Oh, Trump's inaugural address would never have expected these and other actions, assuming he believed what Trump said Trump declared the forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten. No more you came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement. The likes of with the world has never seen before. At the center of this movement is a crucial conviction that a nation exists to serve its citizens end quote. Those men and women were forgotten again the following week. And it's not just workers interests were forgotten not to mention who were putting danger by deciding not to implement a rule to reduce the chances of truck drivers and train operators falling asleep at the wheel. Trump put at risk the lives of families driving along the highway people riding on passenger trains and many others. The White House called it. President Trump's war on regulation in his weekly radio address in early. May he declared that we've removed one job killing regulation after another, and they're not pretty and they're going and believe me, we're just getting started on regulations. They're gone. Removal of data on workplace deaths which averaged thirteen per day infuriated Jordan Barabbas who was VERA who is Obama's number two at OSHA as a private citizen Baraga created a web page to keep track of the names of the dead. And the reasons they were killed on the job, he called, it OSHA won't tell you who died in the workplace we will after the election Barabbas concerns that the Trump administration would be bad for workers increased when he asked where the Trump beachhead team was and learned that none was coming each incoming administrator administrators sends people the scope of federal agencies. Learn who does what and get a feel for the place in advance. Then the incoming administration sends his landing team the people who will initially implement its policies for each agenda already to agency when no beachhead team came up. Rob figured it meant worker safety. Simply was not a priority for Trump he hoped that was the worst of it. Nothing. More than apathy about. Worker safety. But when the landing team arrived Barabra realized trouble was coming for American workers. And it was not official apathy, but the start of a salts on workers rights and safety. Rob said most of them had no idea they were going to labor and no interest in workers issues either. But they did have was a mandate to delay repeal or weaken regulations that protected workers as part of Trump's plan to eliminate quote, any regulation that is outdated unnecessary bad. For workers are contrary to the national interest end quote. The first sign came when Trump nominated judge Neil Gorsuch to the supreme court. Judge Gorsuch was an acolyte of Anthony Scalia who CD would be taking like Scalia. He said statutes should be litter literally read, and if that made no sense. Well, that was a problem for congress, also like Scalia. He had a habit of consulting dictionaries often following Scully is practice of relying on the third fourth or even lesser definition of a word when a supporter his jurisprudence. Trump's domination alarmed unions. Jody Cala mine commun- communications worker, America. Lawyer told Gorsuch is Senate confirmation hearing the Gorth Gorsuch, quote is a threat to workings people's health and safety end quote. Cala mine cited Gorsuch descent in the thousand sixteen case to make his point that disaster. He said right reveals an anti-worker bias and features a judicial activism that will automatically put workers lives at risk, and quote, those are unusually strong words about a supreme court nominee to review. The case show's garbage as little regard for human life. At least when it comes from employers power over their workers. He considers a rigid interpretation of the law. More important. The case was about a law. Congress passed giving workers the right to refuse dangerous tasks Gorsuch said no you may not refuse. It's even worse than you think by David k Johnston. I'm gonna advocate while you're outside doing all those wonderful. Nice DIY Christmas gifts of walk around your house. Check your shingles. Look at your sophists and make sure somebody isn't making an extra doorway, and they don't need to be you. You might see a tiny little hole that you think. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Now, they can get through the the the secret to that one was doing doing a job involves working in an attic. Okay. And as I go through the little trap door. I literally see a pile of squirrels. And they sleep in a in a pie. These guys were just mounted up. It was kind of cold that morning and. I'm like to run into the truck and get that empty bucket. And he's like what for and I'm like, just shoot. I this was going to go off like a scroll Grenada. And so he goes out to the traffic comes back with the empty bucket. He brings the lid. Thank goodness. And I'm sitting there looking and and again, it's very cold that morning during this big big pile in the installation. And I just kind of ease the bucket down on top of them. And I'm really I feel like one of those movies where you cut the red wire the blue wire. I am just really hoping this bomb does not go because I don't know if you guys man those things can bite. Quick to. Oh my God. I meant to die by squirrel. This is going to. I'm gonna fall to this guy seal, and I'm going to be hanging in the rafters. Squirrels are going to be running almanac. Undignified death at just nothing heroic. It would just wouldn't look good. Right. And but I got the bucket over the top of him. And I'm sitting there like, you know, I'm sweating like, John MacLean and a movie. Oh, okay. This get this and I got the lid east under just right? And they still then wake up. They hadn't woke up yet. And it was just as I licked it. Yeah. That bucket went airborne. Gosh. Click them in. Oh my gosh. It looked like popcorn explosive. Jiffy puff from someplace really bad. This bucket rocking and rolling and jumping. And I had this down and my poor. My poor sister looked at me like I was handing him something out of a bad bad horror movie this. Oh, wait a minute. Things went off in that bucket. Okay. Nobody thought to get video of this Allen. You could have been a viral YouTube sensation sweating back just get that bucket net lived together without getting killed. And so, you know, the the happy ending of the story is that they were strapped down to the back of the truck in the bucket. Did you poke some holes in it for? No, we just drove really quickly today to the nearby wooded. Great wooded area. Let's just say it was someplace agricultural this. And then we've created what was called the squirrel bazooka. Oh my God. Mandalit off. So I was debating how to do that. Yeah. Pop that lit often poom. So it's like a Roman candle just for booth and happily they scampered for closest tree. Everybody was happy. Nobody got bit. Nobody got hurt. Relocated. At it. Got cleaned out a squirrel. So the big question. I had was squirrels Allen is did they have the sense to find their way back to the attic. Or no, we closed up that whole and and completely repaired. All that keeps a little guys out. Okay. Well, dear listeners, we challenge you out do our. True story now, I know you can't makes the hall of this is true right with witnesses. Okay. You gotta Alan. You. Gotta pull out your camera on this stuff. I mean, like, I say you'd be a YouTube sensation. You know? You know, we got a regatta record this stuff for the ages. Some I'd run ram behind me of the camcorder. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I hope we never wind up with a situation like that here with our squirrel friend. You know, hopefully, he's not going to find his way into the studio. I mean, he's earning. I don't know if I hear him bouncing land on the ceiling tiles up there. I've got a net the five gallon bucket and the truck right now. Good. Yeah. Well, you know, dear listeners, I know some of you out there. I'm thinking of our buddy Jim from back in the summer that talking about the family of raccoons Zada. You know, we never got that resolve we we we want to hear from you. And and and tell us your your, you know, bizarre. You're. Inspiring stories of man versus beasts. That came together. So all right. The UN certainly has been a report by the UN. Human Rights Council is unequivocally dampening about the behavior of Myanmar's military and rocking state going so far as to suggest that six, nine senior soldiers should stand trial for crimes against humanity, including genocide the dropping of the g word is a big deal explicitly framing the Yanmar regime alongside the perpetrators of sectarian massacre in Rwanda, Bosnia and Sudan. The report also criticises our saying Suci me on Mazda facto head of government, and increasingly ironic, Nabil peace laureate for insufficient efforts to stop the bloodshed Joan from the the, the diplomatic international community perspective. The the use of the word genocide is no small changes at that means things in the context. In this, this kind of context, that means things. It's a specific meanings and international law unspecific consequences. Moreover, the report was loudly drafted by my friend, Muslim man who used to be the UN reputa- on human rights in North Korea, and who I know is Catholic sometimes almost painfully careful over the word to use in his report, not only with genocide, not have been used lightly, Huma thought very long and very hard about all the consequences of saying that. And in any case, you actually need a resolution by the Security Council to overturning my mom diffused assign which China will almost certainly veto. I think we're about to enter a very frustrating situation, Michael, what do you think the consequences of this should be as John was pointing out the use of the word genocide in official documents means something the UN convention on genocide in fact, not merely permits intervention by foreign states. It actually buy some readings of the convention obliges it. So if the UN have crossed this threshold, this is a an instruction to the world something should be done. What should that something look like? Well, first of all. It, how'd you get seven hundred thousand people camped in some pretty squalid conditions on the border with the country from which they fled there. Now in Bangladesh, which is one of the poorest countries in the world. How do you get them to some kind of secure and safe environment? How do you make it possible for them to go back? And the thing is that as the years go by and I think this is the problem we're going to face with Syria's well where you've had people living five, six years in Jordan and in southern Turkey, hundreds of thousands, not millions of refugees. What do you do to get them back and this Ning to John talk? You know, I'm thinking, yeah, great. But you know, the China in the same way that Russia. The one of the only reasons they were able to get some of the war criminals to the international criminal Tribuna on Yugoslavia to the Hague was Russia wasn't such. How do you, I mean, once upon a time and you say, well, we'll see their accounts in Switzerland, whatever. "Then you can start to make improvements but you have to end see does that improvement effect that result like economic demise without the measurement and that's why most people end up optimizing too early because they don't yet have a process map dance happen you optimize something that isn't really clearly defined then it's not consistent someone's doing one thing another person's doing another thing she buys grenada benchmark from way to improve exactly rot just real real bicyc recording and then the integration pace really that's getting the staff to buying as early as possible having them involved in the process helping them to understand that what you're doing actually makes the job as yet they can then go why in have seek die and when they come back tosks with done and they not faced with an empty inbox it it reduces the stress it makes it easy to share the load so that comes with getting the ball game helping them to understand why you're doing it at and in this strategies to address specific things that it's it's almost like a high chaff thing you have to understeer the staff member imagine that's a huge by number six would be massive what bit must feel what of mindset in coaching and training us to go into that stage it it's one of the least addressed and understood areas because you can have great systems in processes but if no one's actually following the minute early worth anything anyway.
