"What we today. Call the caribbean when the war slowed down in north america. After seventeen seventy eight. It's important to remember that it did so because the war for the french and british picked up in other parts of the world. The west indies became much more important field of battle because the value of the sugar islands in that area. A fight in this region usually got going in the early winter after the hurricane season ended and lasted until early summer. When once again the fleet tried to leave the area as the new hurricane season began in a period where there was no weather radar. You really didn't want to be anywhere near hurricane with your fleet of wooden sailing ships. I did introduce a number of new people in this week's episode. That probably deserve a little bit more discussion. One person who entered est today was the comp grass. Those of you who have read head know that to grasp will play a key role in future revolutionary war campaigns including yorktown. Those of course will be the topic of future episodes. What else wanted to note that. Digress spent some time in india both before and after his service in america there he fathered a boy with an woman who he formally adopted and brought back to france for education. That boy george grass emigrated to the united states years. After his father's death. George settled in new york city around eighteen hundred and worked for among other people. Aaron burr in new york he married and african american woman and the two lived rather elite lives particularly for people of color during that era one of their children. John van salih degrasse attended medical school and became a prominent physician in boston. Some of you who are familiar with the history of the abolition movement may know john because he did become a prominent abolitionist and during the civil war served as the regimental surgeon for the fifty. Four th colored regiment. That's the famed unit. That was portrayed in the movie glory. I also mentioned the characters who were a group of people of african descent who were living free of any european authority and any enslavement on the island of saint vincent. The french gave the island of saint vincent back to the british when the war ended in the treaty of paris so the carbs and british went back to that uneasy truce where they kind of segregated the island the cabs live on one half and british colonists living on the other then later in the seventeen ninety s. The french once again tried to back the cabs into overthrowing the british when the french and british were at war. Following the front-row lucien. This was what became known as the second carib war this time. The british implemented a more final solution and deported all of the characters to a small island off the coast of present day honduras. Their descendants are known as the garifuna people with the cavs removed. Saint vincent remained solely a part of the british empire and it anger not remain part of the british empire until nineteen seventy nine when both islands finally gained their independence. I had mentioned in the main story. That governor morris and colonel etherington had both had a dispute conflict that contributed to the easy french victory there with basically no.

"Some of these accusations from the us government of grenada becoming a soviet military bastion. They struck a lot of people as totally bogus. But there were also real concerns about how marie special puts governing to the on this we had in terms of human rights solutions that was part of the the weaknesses and flaws of the revolution. In terms of intolerance descent. People were thrown in jail for speaking out against the government for years after the revolution. Still no election had been held and decimal william says. There was a feeling you could not openly criticise maurice bishop. It was a single party state. Practice nor position was tolerated. You know i speak for myself. And i know many others. We were completely carried forward by the positive development changes that were happening in the country. I for one was fixed on that. I was studying economic development before and i could see it happening and at moved me at the same time. I didn't do an completely blind eye to the fact that For example Forma teacher of mine was arrested. Not charged. But through an jill and i was disturbed about that there was no evidence provided but i think that he was treated very harshly and many others. We had seeing that. The revolution shall not be overthrown that nobody regardless of who you are. We'll be allowed to be involved in any activity surrounding the overthrow of the government by the use of The violence that if there was a threat to the revolution then there is justification insecure it. I'm anyone moves in that direction will be ruthlessly crushed was that always Justified or exceeded the record stands. The thing is this is where the record also gets complicated. Maurice bishop did come down hard on opposition. He did talk about ruthlessly crushing people who wanted to overthrow the government and yet looking back some grenadians. Now say that he didn't come down hard enough because of what happened next in the fall of nineteen eighty-three decima started to notice that things were off. She would call cabinet members and colleagues from her office in dc and they would seem distracted and unfocused then. The foreign minister told her that there was some quote trouble on the island. At the same time. Strange things were happening in dc Decima notice somewhat falling her to a seven eleven. Somebody broke into her office at the embassy. The security guard was acting strangely. He was standing outside her room in the middle of the night. She realized later that that is one. She began to feel like a hostage. Then another phone call. The deputy prime minister had staged in government takeover he and others in the party were communist hardliners who wanted to go in a more radical direction and they pleased. Maurice bishop under house arrest. He stayed there for a week until a crowd gathered outside this crowd that included children and teenagers and wendy grenade. I still recall that the the crowd was saying you know we want to lead this. Massive people push down the gate. Were bishop was held and got him out. Then they marched together to this big fort overlooking the capital. That's where the army was. Headquartered in that worthy would take back control of the government. The crowd went to the fort. Morris bishop went to the fort was in the rule. Wendy without tied with hundreds of other people i was in the the market square at the time was the low this explosion i ever heard in my life. This is hurt the sound of machine guns and then they say they saw black smoke coming from the fort probably from grenade-launchers. I will three cuss game up on food. And he's just the shooting at people members of the army who supported this coup. Were shooting at the crowd. Inside the forms people ran. They tried to escape. Some of them climbed onto the walls of the fort which was several stories up and the jumped. Many of them died. Many others were severely injured at lived a few minutes before that happened understood market salon. Just look up fire as in and people just fallen down yet.

The mail was unopened on the doorstep. And the ambassador of grenada decima williams was hiding our ticket. Very push slowly. The embassy had received threats over the phone. The ambassadors private office was broken into decima believed that somebody wanted her dead but she didn't know who maybe traders. Inside of grenada governments may be american. Spies the cia. "Just going to give it a may take some time needed pillow guy so in the wake of the contested election you end up with violent clashes between the nj 'em and gary's private army the mongoose. You're looking for a name. That sense fear. Enemies hearts changes to canadian goose gang. That'll scare somebody we got him. Jenny volcano the mongoose guy. Are we sure this country and not like a wii novel so the state of affairs are bad ass though they can kill cobras right. They're the ones that like eat. Poisonous snakes really easily do they do. Attack cobras yeah but this. It's still a terrible name for your gang. Sorry venomous snakes. Don't email me assholes venomous. You all know what. I meant poisonous. Venomous on communication words. Buck you in advance. So the state of affairs goes on for an early years until march thirteenth of nineteen seventy nine when gary made the mistake of leaving the country long enough for bishop to lead an armed revolution and oust his government in a bloodless coup bishop house gary and establishes the people's revolutionary government. Now you might think it wouldn't much matter to global politics who's running a country of ninety thousand people but this was during the time of the cold war bishop named his eldest son vladimir lenin bishop and grenade is merely fifteen hundred miles from the us coastline. Which is what. Americans think of as close by bishop runs grenada. But then he makes the mistake of the american people electing ronald reagan. Yeah countries full of brown people made that mistake. Man world of jimmy. Carter walter mondale so boring but amazing fucking better god. As one of those time machine moments like john connors fighting cyborgs in the future to eventually deal with the reagan thing and go back. This is probably hard for most people in this country or indeed the world to believe but there was actually a time. When america wasn't at war with anybody why in fact i know by the time ronald reagan took office in nineteen ninety-one. It had been a half a dozen years since the us had engaged in any major military operation and the united states not using its military to kill any brown people for six whole years. It's such an odd circumstance that it literally has a name. Historians call it vietnam syndrome. Is he after. We finally wrapped up the pointless death fest. That was the vietnam war. The american public express a strong public preference for peace over military action. And i swear. It is no exaggeration to say that one of ronald reagan's main goals as president was to fix that. He was desperate to find. Some little countries asi could kick so could put an end all that. Damnable piece yeah. Our foreign policy was basically walking down the hallway blocking and go. Okay what are we supposed to all our money. Heath create an educational industrial complex. You hear a stupid. that sounds. That sounds sounds amazing. Pouring an amazing. Like mondale more jimmy. Carter so reagan's first effort to pick a fight and grenada centered around the point. Salines international airport. There was an airport on the island called pearls airport. But it's runway was too small to land commercial aircraft and it was hemmed in by mountains on one side of the pacific ocean on the other so it couldn't be extended so as far back as nineteen fifty four when the island was still a british colony. There were plans to build a larger airport elsewhere. That could have a full-size runway. The plans are on hold for decades. Wants bishop took over. He made point sailings a priority. If you asked him he'd have told you is because the only chance grenada had a decent economy was tourism. And the only chance they had a tourism was having airport that accommodate commercial jets. But if you ask the reagan administration it was so those damn commies could land the largest soviet aircraft air to disperse missiles and weapons. And and. okay. We're focused on the airport from fucking wings. Meanwhile answer the fbi is selling the nuclear football to russia for three months on. We got sons sued so so so bad. In march of nineteen eighty-three reagan started sounding the alarm about the threat of grenadas. New airport reagan's doomed. Crying got so vitriolic in fact that a democratic congressman named ron. Dellums went to grenada on a fact-finding mission only to report the quote based on my personal observations discussion and analysis of the new international airport under construction and grenada. It is my conclusion at this. Product is specifically and has always been for the purpose of economic development and it is not for military use. It is absurd patronizing and totally unwarranted for the united states government to charge that. This airport poses a military threat to the united states. National security republicans. Keep going after tropical places. They're going to have no place to retreat in the winter when the lecture he takes his shit in texas but if he didn't title that report the deal with airline that he missed a huge opportunity despite the obviously commercial nature of the airport. Reagan kept beating the drums of war about it but a new much shinier casas bell. I showed up in october of eighty three. His name was mohammed ali. Tom little respect terrible. This one started when grenadas. Deputy prime minister bernard cord seized power. Epo bishop under house arrest when news gets out about that. Bishops supporters erupted in protests and bishop manages to escape soon after he was captured and executed by a firing squad of soldiers along with his partner. Who was the minister of education and for their cabinet ministers and union leaders. At that point the military realized they were the ones with the guns so they deposed cord plays governor general paul schoon under house arrest and declared that they were in charge and they would kill the fuck out of anybody who said otherwise okay. So i'm assuming. Ronald reagan's about to make one of those little finger circles below the waist and then punched grenada phrase from they look at it at this point. Some of the nearby caribbean nations. Get a little nervous barbados. Jamaica and the organization of eastern caribbean states appeal to the us for assistance and even though that didn't amount to a legal justification for invasion was all the excuse. Reagan needed within twenty four hours of the request. The us military was mobilizing for the mission to invade grenada named with typical american pomposity operation. Urgent fury that's what. He called shitting operations right now. Shooting don't you do that. Don't you take that for me to my. We're gonna make like ronald reagan and consult a psychic on.

Which one is which one is your grenades grenada and granada or nato. I will accept so tom. You're gonna read. Something noah wrote for you. Are you ready to have to cite yourself quack. so tom what was the invasion of granada. So grenada It's a no all right so first. A little background. That's more like it. Grenade is an island nation foul. Okay all right all right. I promised him. Grenada is an island nation about one hundred miles north of venezuela actually the eleven smallest sovereign nation and. That's on a list that counts shit like vatican city and monaco. The whole country is about one hundred and thirty five square miles. So if it was an american city it would be the sixty ninth biggest right between philadelphia and vegas if we measured by population. It wouldn't even make the top two fifty to be clear. It is a tiny tiny place. The history of the island begins in piloting epoch where a bunch of submarine volcano spewed out huge piles of earth sperm for a few hundred thousand years. All the volcanoes in the area are extinct today with one exception. And it's name is the only reason i bring up. Islands origins at all that and noah is quite literally making me read this start with the geological origins. Anyway grenadian coast. There's an active submarine volcano called. Kick them jenny. Which is rated four five on google maps despite being six hundred miles below the ocean's surface. Okay i actually looked into this. That score would be a lot higher. If you don't count multiple who said quote to that shapiro. Hey naming people tip. Don't give your volcanoes cutesy names because they all erupt eventually and murder people and the only thing that you can control in there is how often the news as to talk about the devastation and loss caused by the buzi. Do psy volcano something normal. Anyway the island is first inhabited about thirty six hundred years ago when native south americans made away across the hundred miles or so of open ocean between there and venezuela but doesn't show up in written history until fourteen ninety eight. i'm christopher columbus spots at during his third voyage to the new world. He never actually landed there. But that didn't stop him from naming it he called it la concepcion and although that was a reference to the virgin mary. It's still kind of like naming it the island of fucked so the name didn't stick a later. Map by america's namesake amerigo. Vespucci had the island marked the name mile. But in the fifteen twenty. Some spanish maps started using the name grenada which became lager nod. When the french colonized it in sixteen forty nine and then grenada when the british took it from them. At the end of the seven years war christopher columbus going island to island to drive bys with flag javelin. Just dibs in everything. So tom what you're saying. Is that the spanish. Couldn't hold the mayo. Oh what why are we letting eli. Didn't we have a moratorium on this ceases got it. It's unaccept- lead them so for the next one. Hundred and fifty years grenada remains a british colony until a radical grenadian politician with a spectacular name of theo phileas albert. Mary's show started to agitate for more local power in the islands. Governance this led to a series of concessions by the british government aimed at finding out. Just how little they could offer the natives to get them to calm the fuck down so like in the nineteen twenties. The crown colony was governed by fifteen man legislative council and the crowns big concession was to allow the locals to elect five of those fifteen members. And if that sounds overly generous to you. Don't worry they restricted the vote to only the island's wealthiest individuals of course in all they gave this damn near symbolic vote to less than four percent of the populace. No glad that doesn't happen anymore. And none of them were allowed to vote on sunday. Still the juggernaut of independence was rolling in nineteen fifty one. They held their first general election on the basis of universal adult suffrage by nineteen seventy four. They were granted independence ultimately the opted to remain a member of the british commonwealth. So technically queen elizabeth remained their monarch and she was represented by a local governor general appointed by the crown but for all intents and purposes grenada would be self-governing from that point forward. Well except for the swans. They did not own their swan. That's good as first. Prime minister was a labor agitator named eric. Gary gary was the founder of the grenada united labour party and yes they use the acronym gulp which started as labor union and eventually became the islands. Dominant political party. The gary was. Gary was already serving jerry mirror at the time so after a quick change of title and a bit of updated stationary. He became the newly independent nations. I prime minister okay. Sorry prime minister. What do you mean the entire country is on its fifteen. How can a whole country. Of course the british empire generally didn't leave newly independent colonies in great shape to thrive under self rule especially not when those countries were full of people of color. The early years of independence weren't great for the average citizen so opposition party started to thrive over the next couple of years. His main opposition was a marxist. Leninist party called the new jewel movement or nj 'em led by a revolutionary named maurice bishop in nineteen seventy six the to win toe to toe in the general election and at the end gary claimed victory but the end nj m. refused to accept the results. Can you imagine it. Loser of electric refusing to concede This let it sink in.

"As i mentioned. I think at the beginning it's a very mountainous. Hilly green lush island and it actually has a dormant volcano right in the middle. And there's a lake a crater lake right at the top in the middle of this dormant volcano So that's a really cool thing to go and high aaron you can see monkeys and richards I love that. I would say that a really really unique activity to do their Aside from you know the dune buggies and all of that kind of stuff as well. So yeah. there's just there's tons to do. And it's very very safe island of very welcoming island You know i've had fun just getting to know some locals there and you know chatting and even had local show me around the markets and it's just fun laid back island. There's no pomp and circumstance to grenada in any way. Yeah that is really cool. I like that Okay so for our last one. We're gonna circle to mexico. And i know we're going to talk about cancun an kabo so How about you start off with whichever one you want to talk about. First so the next two properties are sister. Properties called leblanc their spa resorts and the cool thing about them is. They're all inclusive but they're luxury all inclusive Which is you know. kind of a rarity. To be honest. they are very high end The best of the best. But it's kind of nice that you just have everything kind of at your beck and call You can explore any of the restaurants dying Go to any of the bars and you know what you're in for the whole time So there's something fun about an all inclusive in that respect They are also adults. Only which i realized that your podcast is for moms for families But i will say but my way their families get away So you know it's it's adult only in the sense of eighteen. Plus so with that in mind i would say. Bring your teens or older kids. Shaam do about their daughter getaway. I love the idea of something like that Or just get away. Just get behind that. Maybe the best up. Let's be on as we're Have been kids. Yes you know. And i have to say. I'm obviously based in los angeles. So it's very easy for you to get down to cobb. I will be there as soon as having lee possible And we've been my kids with someone so my family members listed out there. Maybe exactly i went to kabul for my first time last september and i it was amazing. So yeah yeah so. I it and it's a way to do it. Sometimes you know we our kids and we wanna give our kids. These experiences growing entity explore. Yeah so you know leblanc is really. It's a wonderful wonderful brand. So hotels are each equally gorgeous. The hotel in kabul is brand new. So it's only about two years old And it sits in a really great location. Kind of smack dab for anyone. That's been right on the corridor. Cobb is kind of like one long strip one long road. It's smack in the middle With one side being Los calbos and then the other side beans san jose each of those destinations kind of offers a different vibe. Personally i love san jose And i don't know if you've got to visit that on your trip. I did actually several resort. so it was. It was a good way for me to kind of get a good dose of whole area. So yeah so. I i know exactly what you're talking about. So i love san jose. It's the you know the historical cultural town. yeah so it's you know you're sightseeing. There's gonna be cool more already vibe. I would say local restaurants. You know it really gives you that more local feel And then you go down to los cobbles and that's where you're going to see more of the nightlife and off shore fishing and action in the bars and the night scene and the big malls and that So i think anyone going to kabul you can really experience kind of the best of both worlds off property But truly you know if your client that wants to go to a destination and just kick back the on the beach be at the pool and just have everything brought to you. This is your destination These are luxury properties. As i mentioned so included in all of the rates are all of your food and beverages It's twenty four hour room service. It's unlimited long distance calls Top shelf liquors. If there's any champagne lovers out there. The house champagne is low. So that should make you very happy also included butler service. So you know we encourage anyone to download the leblanc app for when you're there and you can text and communicate with your butler and you can tell them you know. Please make me reservations at this restaurant for dinner or you know. We're down at the pool. We're going to be in our room in an hour. Can you please draw a bubble bath. You know in thirty minutes Just you know those kind of little extra touches that really make it a special property And you're going to see those same touches in cancun. All of that. That i just mentioned is the same I love cancun personally as well. it's such an easy destination to travel to and to get around I don't know if you've been ben before but again you know. Cancun is very easy to access tons of nightlife and things to explore off property Just across the water is actually a little island. Called eastland o'hara's Which i love to. And i would encourage guests to spend a day off property and go across in explorer this little community When i was pregnant with my second child i was actually there By myself i was scouting hotels at the hotel at the time But i found some really sweet Kids toys that were made on eastern will harris so just some you know local artisans and just a fun by beautiful beaches. Everybody there drives around golf carts. So you'll rent a golf cart for the day and there's just something about a golf cart. That's so fun there. You can't be zipping around on a golf cart at your own whim so highly record that to anyone But the hotel in in cancun is equally as lovely as the one in kabo. So you know it really just kind of depends on which destination is easier for you to get to or which one you want to explore more or the guests in cancun. You can also take a day trip to to loom Which is big for a lot of clients. You can visit the archaeological sites there So they're very easy to do their So it would highly recommend that and You know each of the hotels are going to offer you tons of on top of the activities so you know paddle board yoga. Aqua spinning beach volleyball water. Bali ball Every day they're going to Gave you a calendar of events so you can say you know. At ten o'clock. I'm going to go. Do you know a yoga class At nine o'clock we're gonna go visit you know this. Dj or go listen to this entertainment So there's just a lot to do if you don't even leave the grounds of the hotels. So i would. I would really recommend that and you know we all deserve to get away right now. And i can't picture much better than just going and having someone weighed on me knowing what you're in for. I know you're making me wanna go mike everyone else. I'm leaving you can find their me their getaway. I.

CDC reverses statement on airborne transmission of coronavirus, says draft accidentally published
"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention removed language on Monday from its website that said, the coronavirus spreads via airborne transmission. It's the latest example, the agency backtracking from its own guidance. The agency says the guidance that went up on Friday and largely went without notice until Sunday should not have been posted because it was an early draft they hadn't been approved evidence that the virus floats in the air has. been mounting for months with an increasingly loud chorus of Aerosol Biologists pointing to super spreading events in choirs at churches on buses in bars, and another poorly ventilated spaces. They cheered when the CDC seem to join them in green the coronavirus airborne although CDC officials maintain Fridays post was a mistake Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill are incredulous and promised subpoenas an investigation to figure out what's really going on behind the scenes. This change on the website on Monday is the third time that trump's CDC has posted significant coronavirus guidance only to quickly reverse stance. It's also the latest disorienting turn in a significant scientific debate with enormous public consequences for how we returned to schools and offices the debate over whether the extreme infectiousness tenacity of the virus is due to its ability to spread well over six feet especially indoors and small particles that result from talking shouting singing you're just breathing many experts outside the agency say the pathogen can waft over considerably longer distances than six feet to be inhaled into our respiratory systems especially, if we're indoors and air flow conditions or stagnant. What's clear from such cases is that while the virus Shirley spreads slowly in households among family members, it also spreads rapidly at indoor events. The bring lots of folks together. And the White House has also again move to shake up the personnel office at the Department of Health and Human Services. After a series of IMBROGLIOS, the trump administration yesterday removed its top two liaisons between the White House and the Health Department Emily Newman and her deputy. Catherine GRANATO will be shifted work fulltime at the Voice of America. Newman already has spent more than three months detailed to the global media agency as its chief of staff which politico reports has meant that Grenada who was literally an undergraduate at the University of Michigan this Spring and is in her early twenties has been in charge of the entire health departments personnel policy amid pandemic that has killed more than two hundred thousand. But the ongoing addition of new cases means an ongoing edition of new deaths and cases keeping at it.

"Reagan's invasion of Grenada. He's going to try and come up with a low risk conflict that will draw everybody's attention away. From what's going on? The problem is I don't think there's any low risk conflicts left in the world right now given out polarized everything is, and and you know, and this guy I mean, trusting Donald Trump, not to make a misstep on the international stage is is like thinking you can run through a minefield and not be unscathed. I mean, it's just it's crazy. Dave spot. I think you're right. You're listening to the Thom Hartmann program called to eight hundred eight ninety nine twenty-five. Anything goes Friday on the Thom Hartmann program back with your calls on your media support group for we the people right here. Stick around. Hartmann university book club today, we're reading from. It's even worse than you think. What? The Trump administration is doing to America by David k Johnston. This is page sixty one the chapter titled forgetting, the forgotten man in two thousand ten the US department of labor created a website to honor workers who died on the job, quote, more than forty five thousand workers forty five hundred workers excuse me, lose their job lies on the job every year, the lower the names of just a few who have died in recent months. Osias mission is to prevent workplace injuries illnesses and death, and quote that occupational safety and health administration web page was intended to highlight and humanize workplace deaths to ensure awareness of tragedies. Especially those that could have been avoided. According to Joe, Joe, Jordan Barabbas, an assistant secretary of labor during the Obama administration Barra explained without information like this fatality statistics are just roster. L numbers. The purpose of adding names and circumstances was to impress people with a tragedy that workers and their families face day after day in August 2017 seventeen Trump's Labor Department quietly removed the preamble and the names when it killed the webpage. It also took down. Without public announcement the fatality inspection data for all years prior to 2017. Those are just two of many other Trump administration actions inimical to worker safety others included, no longer posting press releases about deaths resulting from unsafe working conditions delaying rules to reduce sickness and death from inhaling silica and beryllium at work delaying rules to lower the risk of railroad. Engineers and truck drivers falling asleep at the switcher wheel because of untreated sleep apnea and the appointment of a to the supreme court of a judge who held company had the right to fire a worker who chose not to freeze to death on the job a reasonable person listening to Donald. Oh, Trump's inaugural address would never have expected these and other actions, assuming he believed what Trump said Trump declared the forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten. No more you came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement. The likes of with the world has never seen before. At the center of this movement is a crucial conviction that a nation exists to serve its citizens end quote. Those men and women were forgotten again the following week. And it's not just workers interests were forgotten not to mention who were putting danger by deciding not to implement a rule to reduce the chances of truck drivers and train operators falling asleep at the wheel. Trump put at risk the lives of families driving along the highway people riding on passenger trains and many others. The White House called it. President Trump's war on regulation in his weekly radio address in early. May he declared that we've removed one job killing regulation after another, and they're not pretty and they're going and believe me, we're just getting started on regulations. They're gone. Removal of data on workplace deaths which averaged thirteen per day infuriated Jordan Barabbas who was VERA who is Obama's number two at OSHA as a private citizen Baraga created a web page to keep track of the names of the dead. And the reasons they were killed on the job, he called, it OSHA won't tell you who died in the workplace we will after the election Barabbas concerns that the Trump administration would be bad for workers increased when he asked where the Trump beachhead team was and learned that none was coming each incoming administrator administrators sends people the scope of federal agencies. Learn who does what and get a feel for the place in advance. Then the incoming administration sends his landing team the people who will initially implement its policies for each agenda already to agency when no beachhead team came up. Rob figured it meant worker safety. Simply was not a priority for Trump he hoped that was the worst of it. Nothing. More than apathy about. Worker safety. But when the landing team arrived Barabra realized trouble was coming for American workers. And it was not official apathy, but the start of a salts on workers rights and safety. Rob said most of them had no idea they were going to labor and no interest in workers issues either. But they did have was a mandate to delay repeal or weaken regulations that protected workers as part of Trump's plan to eliminate quote, any regulation that is outdated unnecessary bad. For workers are contrary to the national interest end quote. The first sign came when Trump nominated judge Neil Gorsuch to the supreme court. Judge Gorsuch was an acolyte of Anthony Scalia who CD would be taking like Scalia. He said statutes should be litter literally read, and if that made no sense. Well, that was a problem for congress, also like Scalia. He had a habit of consulting dictionaries often following Scully is practice of relying on the third fourth or even lesser definition of a word when a supporter his jurisprudence. Trump's domination alarmed unions. Jody Cala mine commun- communications worker, America. Lawyer told Gorsuch is Senate confirmation hearing the Gorth Gorsuch, quote is a threat to workings people's health and safety end quote. Cala mine cited Gorsuch descent in the thousand sixteen case to make his point that disaster. He said right reveals an anti-worker bias and features a judicial activism that will automatically put workers lives at risk, and quote, those are unusually strong words about a supreme court nominee to review. The case show's garbage as little regard for human life. At least when it comes from employers power over their workers. He considers a rigid interpretation of the law. More important. The case was about a law. Congress passed giving workers the right to refuse dangerous tasks Gorsuch said no you may not refuse. It's even worse than you think by David k Johnston.
