"Along with Pat Miller Caro, the Bisons trailing Syracuse to one here in the bottom half of the sixth inning. Kevin Smith, Gregory Polanco and Tyler Yt 456 hitters in the lineup. They're facing the right hander Jose Reyes, who delivers a breaking ball that Smith swings through strike one. He's been up twice. He's gone in the glove twice. We all want Fouled back. Look out, Nick, Sarah, man. Pick a lady over there, and Nick is being That's a good section for foul balls over there. There's a come in hot over there, though. You gotta be careful. Kevin Smith, trying to shake off a little rust here as the 02 is a fastball up and away a volunteer strikes now. A couple of good defensive play started the 543 double play and made a nice barehanded playing swinging Bonnie. The swings and the skies Just one foul first base side. Lands on the auxiliary scoreboard over there and bounces into the club level kind of hold the ball and two strikes on Kevin Smith. It was at 2 84 with 19 home runs in 63, RBS. And he swings through the high fastball at 96. He's down for the third time tonight, another strength out in the third for various. It's now 11 by my count for Syracuse pitching Smith, a little over anxious couldn't catch up with that high fastball there as Gregory Polanco steps and he's over to Line to the third baseman who was at the shortstop position. And struck out. Here's the pitch. Fastball poured right in there at 95 Strike one The job by Kirby's need the top of the sinning. We'll see Raphael dollies in the seventh. "George Thorogood going to be rocking the U. S cellular connection stage tonight at 10 o'clock So you still have time to get here It is 8 37 here at the moment. So you have more than enough time to make it in to see George Thorogood right now on the main stage, Chris Stapleton and Sheryl Crow. They are out there. That's the American family Insurance amphitheater. Welcome back in Matt, Paulie hanging out with you Live and summer fest. It is Brewer's weekly here on Wtmj. We had a poll question up. The poll is now closed. I had to close a little too early. Sorry, but We got. We got a handful of votes that here 63 votes over the hour or so that it was open. I did the most exciting way to win a baseball game, and the four answers were a walk off Grand Slam. A walk off home run, robbed by an outfitter, three bases loaded strikeouts or a game ending play. When I went into it, I wanted you to, uh, fielding ones and two at the plate and end up being three in the field one at the plate with the Grand Slam. I think if I had to do it over again, I'd get rid of maybe the game ending trip play, and I would have replaced that with like an inside the park home run on a walk off, which could be more exciting potentially than a walk off Grand Slam. So if I ever do this poll question again will make that tweak. But for now, this is it. Greg Hill. What? I don't know if you did vote in the poll, but if you did what answer what have you gone with? So I did, And I kind of contemplated right? And I had this discussion with you off the air, three bases loaded strikeouts. We've seen that before. A few times this season, especially recently, So I'm surprised that one didn't get as many votes, but I picked The walk off home run robbed by an outfielder defense. That's my vote. All right. That's this is a big Lorenzo Cain moment where he brings one back. That's what you would have gone there and forgive me. If I'm getting this wrong. You could clarify this for me. Didn't Eduardo Escobar Rob a game winning home run for us when before he was traded to the Brewers. Do I have that correct? Oh, I don't know. Okay. I have, like very like I have a, um, memory of someone robbing a brewer. I can't remember who it is you out, Look it up, but Avi Garcia has had one this season. Not a It wasn't a game winning run. But it was more of a retired way Junior to save a game tying run. It was in the fifth inning, but give me home run robbery all day. Okay. I'm trying to think back to the games against the Diamondbacks this year. The only the only thing that really sticks out to me about the games against the Diamondbacks. Remember, they were on that long, long, long losing streak. And you knew that Something might and so no, I think I don't think you have that right, Greg, because they're only um Their only win was a 51 win, and that ended their 17 game losing skid. Yeah, I'm going to try to find it because there was certainly while I was there. I was like, Oh, it's it's over, and then they plucked it out of this guy. Okay? I don't know. I don't know what you're thinking of the top of your head. Um, I was a little bit so I'll give the results here of the pole. I was a little surprised that game ending Trump play came in last place easily last place with under 5% of the vote. I thought it would get a little bit more than that, because quite honestly, that would be the rarest of the rare of the All these are very rare events, but the game ending triple play. Triple plays are so rare in their own right. I mean, a normal season, maybe again 234 across major league baseball at the most. It seems like so I'm surprised game ending triple play easily. Was the was in last place that we had a two way tie for second or third, however, you want to look at it. The walk off home run being robbed by an outfitter and the three bases loaded strikeouts. And then, as people continued to just relive the Vogel back, pinch it walk off Grand Slam. It is the runaway winner. At close to 70% of the vote on the most exciting way to to win a baseball game. I thought this was going to be a little bit closer. Clearly I was wrong. If I would have gotten rid of game ending to play and put inside the park home run and walk off inside the Parker. Maybe that would have changed things up. Maybe that would have gone a few more votes. If I would have left the poll open for a little bit longer. Maybe that would have changed things up. There's a lot of things we could redo, but You're not supposed to regret things in life. I got it. 55. Yes, it was certified brewers killer Gregory Polanco, and it was Eduardo Escobar, who hit The long ball to right field and he robbed it in the ninth, sending the game into extra innings. Yes, Palanka was playing really deep because that thing was hit hard. And if he would not have been playing as deep that he would have never been able to get to it just because of the exit velocity, But he was playing way deep and he went and brought that one back. Yes, that was Gregory Polanco, That might be as highlight of the year It's been. It has not been a good season. For him offensively or defensively. He's been getting booed a lot by pirates fans. The 17 people who attend pirates home games have been booing Gregory Palanka, Let's go to the phones. 85561616 20 the accident, mortgage talk and text line. Steve is in West Dallas. Hey, Steve, you're on wtmj. Hey, how you guys doing? Good. Thank you. So I missed the end of this game. I had to work at five o'clock, and when I left was 5 to 1 and work as a front desk clerk and About 10 or 15. Minutes after I got there heard a bunch of screaming up and up and the upstairs I thought somebody got hurt, and it turned out turn W won the game, but it reminded me a lot of 1987 Easter Sunday game. That my daughter Crystal and I were at, um Remember, Rob, you're hitting hitting home runs. I think he tied it up. And then they'll swing hit one to win the game, and we're we're crystal Crystal was up on my shoulder. She was eight years old at the time. She's 42 now. Um, she was up on my shoulders so she can see where that happens to people who were standing on the seat. And when the swing hit the home run were jumping up and down on the seat. We cracked, We actually cracked the seats. Dr seat. But that was an excellent excellent Most excellent family had its awesome Christian look, that was pretty cool. Very good. Appreciate it, Steve. Thanks for calling. You know, you think about some of the famous walk offs? Obviously Easter Sunday 1987. That's a big one. I still think the greatest walk off in the history of the organization is the Ryan Braun Grand Slam in 2000 and eight that was in what the 10th inning and They needed that win to get into the postseason. That's that. That's one of the biggest hits in the history of the organization. I think that is the greatest walk off. You had Bill Hall against the Mets back in 2000 and six That was the mother's Day. Once every year. On Mother's Day, we get to relive that over and over there, there's a few. There's the prince fielder. One not that had real significance, but that was that great. Celebration..

"And so when you have these days off during the all star break. I i like to print out a spreadsheet. I'm going on vacation. I'm going out of town. I'm taking spreadsheets with me to do standings kind of standings analysis and Just you know And to do rankings restless season and to do things like that to kind of make. Sure i can figure out the best path forward to make. Sure i'm profiting as much as i can rest of the season You you mentioned a little bit about the trade deadline. I do wanna talk about that. Because the trade deadline's coming up. And i think often people think of. Oh well the trade deadline only really matters in ayler. Nl only leaks and that's not true because you just mentioned some ways we can affect our own standings by paying attention to that. So how does the trade deadline effect have you operate kind of this time of year. Yeah well i think especially for me. Where i'm really low down in saves i wanna be thinking about. Who are the guys that i think are going to take who is likely to get traded and who is likely to take over for them if they do get traded and trying to identify those guys now you know kind of a week or two before instead of getting them after. The trade deadline in the guy is traded. I think can really when you talk about high variance plays that can be a really good way to get ahead It's kind of like when you play early on in the in when you draft early in the year right in a guy hasn't signed yet and you get a discount on that guy because you don't know exactly where they're going but they still have that same ceiling or they're still better than maybe where you got them but you just didn't know what the environment or the situation was so it's kinda similar the equivalent like in season so you know I'm just thinking about You know maybe it's like you mentioned ian kennedy. He's gonna get traded while there's a lot of different potential trade closures in texas so maybe looking at usage over the last week or so last two weeks getting those high leverage plays right. Is it spores. Is it patent. Is it evans. Coup are is the guy. Who's doing that. Ricardo rodriguez of the pirates. Like who do we think is going to take over there. Is it going to be a veteran. Trial creek is it going to be a guy. Younger guy like david bednarz. Who's pitched really well. Who's gonna kinda come in our role and then pick him up a week or two before the trade deadline and then hold onto them and then you just hope that you can kinda strike it rich Getting them in that way. And so that's the way that you could pick up some closers but similarly it's not a very good example i think because it's the mariners that like you know Mitch haniger for instance. Right if you think mitch is gonna get traded. That means that there's a spot in the middle of the mariners lineup. That's now opening up and somebody's gonna take it and then there's also a position in the in the field right or d. h. You know depending on where he's he's hitting that that now will be added to the roster so who's going to be now this year like it's probably gonna be like taylor trauma or they've got a lot of outfielders but let's just say it was like who you're rodriguez was ready to come up or something like that. You could go for him or let's say like With the pirates for instance you know a guy that i picked up his jared leva right. I'm we know he's a big stolen base threat you know. They're likely maybe to move some guys at the deadline. Maybe it's gonna be gregory polanco. Maybe it'll be brian reynolds severally. Hope they don't just for pirates fans sake because he's a really good player but if there's a spot that opens up there maybe he gets playing time and i need stolen bases in this particular league. He's a guy who could easily get ten to fifteen stolen bases over the second half of the season you know and so Thinking about just the way like the different pieces that are in place in as they move who fills in those Who fills in that spot in the lineup who feels that roster spot In different different places. And that i think is where you can really make up a decent matt ground and get some guys who may be you know. Have a lot of skills but haven't had the opportunity yet. I couldn't agree with you more. The one thing i will add to that is when you're looking at closing situations check to make sure that the guy who you think might be next man up isn't also going to be shipped out of town to right because like richard. Rodriguez is a great example right. Because he's he's gonna get shipped out of time. We we fully expect him to be somewhere else. Hopefully it's closing situation from teams. I have missed my closer. It might not be though who knows But yeah kyle creek and david bed mertz. He'd like the top two guys to likely get the next shot though cow creek could be moved on his own. They're not moving bed. Nar like you know and so like for me probably gonna put more money on bednarz than will on creek just. Because i think there's a chance creek gets moved out of town to And i think bednarz powder skills personally. But i just one of the things. I can't remember what year it was But there was year in which a closer everybody's like. Oh this closing everybody go after this guy over it might have been washington on every put your money on training or something like that and then they traded try and into and it was like. Oh okay now. It's sean kelly or whoever was I wish i could remember. That did not work out. Well no no no..

"And obviously it's an we get sent down to the minor leagues to create room for stephen mats and An for similar today right. Was that the move. I haven't seen that. is that dry. Believe that was the move. Okay interesting. I'm after the other. One was the fact they had to make room on the forty man. Roster is they defy the other Peloton brevin guy. Jeremy beasley yes. That's it so. That was the other part of the move to get cimber on the forty man roster craig of those bullpen names. You're mentioning john oxford Jacob barton's today picked up. I know there's still another half of the trade to dissect and go through But i want kinda take the conversation this way because that's just the way it was going. john hayman and robert murray reported. Today that market for richard rodriguez the pirates. Closer has been heating up a little bit over the last couple of days and they vary both specifically mentioned. The blue jays interest in richard rodriguez. Now we heard a lot of interest in blue jays. This past some of it came true citing george springer so people were starting to get a little disappointed with some other. Signings didn't happen because people like all this being used as leverage. So i think are going to see the blue jays connected to quite a few relievers throughout the course of the next few weeks before the trade deadline but craig. Richard rodriguez is a bit of stud pirates bullpen. And not many people might know him because he's on the pittsburgh pirates but my goodness. I'm just pulling up his fan grasp page right now crack and as i scroll down. He's having a hell of a season. He pitched to one point seven eight year reign. A one point two four reliever as pretty remarkable. Andy's this is the second time he's been upwards in the ones for f- war in his career so craig. How are you buying interest in. Richard rodriguez it. How much would you pay for him. Because he's a guy that not all but it might cost an arm and a leg prospect wise to get him especially if they do this and the next couple of days or weeks yet. They've if they do that in the next few weeks. I don't care what the price is. Really at this point you know and i think i believe that article earlier and i'm trying to scam my way to find it. Unfortunately but There's some guys on that roster that we could eat some money for the pirates to free up and get somebody like rodriguez back. So i think gregory polanco was the one that we were. That was the article for and I think it was John hayman that might vote no. It wasn't john hayman. I forget so. I think it was but anyway it was a great article of some guys that the blue jays could target the guy they really want but gets something salvageable back that..

"Number fifteen to number thirty thirty five not doing fine. He's hitting for power big home this weekend or yesterday. I never at this point but the point being her story is still gonna hit no matter where he goes. Our nato may not have three hundred anymore but thirty homers to eighty. Okay fine significant hit. It is and but. I don't want to assume trevor just like we're not assuming all prospects of the same we assuming all froma rockies of the same so i took a difference i mean i i believe too was a little older deeper in his career and had some of the injury questions that were greater than stories at the time are not of same story later in his career and did the injuries last year. You like raba now. I mean he'd look he's been very good player. I i'd love to use them in the chorus games. But i just i'm not feeling it. I mean a agai you lock into. You feel excited about that with ronald top. That's the right word. But he is on fire. Every games a multi hit game and he's batting four fifteen over the past three weeks narrow homer but you know he's not a power guy but if you told me at the end of the season that remmel toppy about three hundred and stole twenty bases i believe you and i think i think we do. I think we have to take them seriously. But would you start them this week in an espn standard leg there. I assume they're on the road this week. Five road games now granted to seattle but then the next three or finding you know we talk about that would just start this guy that guy. I'm finding a none of my leagues. Why even have the option to start your. I either one of my lockton outfielders. Or he's such a good alfred. he's locked on my bitch. I don. I hardly have a league because injuries or poor play or whatever where i would say yeah this week. I'll start him next week. i won't i just don't have that opportunity to you. I in the similar state. You're right. And i think the takeaway here is that if you are not the all in toppy a guy like i'm not today is a perfect time to try to cash them in knowing he's got a five road game week that's probably about as unattractive a week said a weekly metrics that he can have all right well promote the tristan things in the shows announced time for him to do some of that. It's combo meals. Hey it's a combo meal. Combo di di di di it's a combo meal homerun still. Kyle's each to be very proud of a bunch of combo meal since our last show which is all that matters. Randy rose iranian. Can't wait to see what tampa bay's lineup is. By the way for tuesday they face some. It's eduardo rodriguez first lefty and then garrett richards and then my friend nicoletta Young award winners here. But you know you combat franco first or second. I wouldn't be. I'd be fine with that. Rosa rain is having a fine year. Abraham toro was alex bregman fill in at third base power. Not as much. Speed gregory polanco who i gave up on three years ago. Louis orioles who. I gave up on three months ago. Adam duvall who is shorter from the right side. Adam college wherever from the right side right thirty home runs maybe not fifty. Maybe two thirty but similar it. May you're going to buy newish. Warner's the swampers done over the past week. He got a binder. Duvall has done and then the other comma meals brandon belt. Nice weekend phillies. Really nice weekend. Although another philadelphia sports team did worst at least discuss. There is a key difference to me between on. But i like where you're going with the cop and it's the ballpark's that's the only thing that i'm not wild about but beyond that i kind of like that and it's not of fact. I think he does get underrated by a lot of people and has been for quite some power you know that he's gonna hit for power but now he's more like christmas davis because not as many home runs. I don't expect that do volative. Thirty five home runs but right in that ballpark. Good for him. Man cave cable to thirty and thirty to thirty five guy on the higher ends by the way he can be playing left field right field for oakland or the yankees or the dodgers in keeping him. I mean good for them. They got him and now they can. They can move them. They should now duval's not part of your future Any thoughts on toro arrears polanco belts. That i may have just. Yeah i i mean we should probably do a quick one liners on tour arenas suspects you've been playing a bit more than i expected with. The travel show. Injury is getting a lot of time at third. It's got a couple of assignments at leadoff. I would try to just stream and based on the pitching match towards similar situation. He's done all right so far and bregman and that's a pretty lincoln. I'll probably another month. I think orien- oriented that's right handed it only hits. Lefties lasts was little. Yeah that's why i'm saying the matchups. Yeah actually seven of his homer against right handed pitching and his numbers are better against lefties but only like sixty points of opiates. so maybe he's finding finally emerging. Maybe is complete shortstop. Maybe this is alex scored. I can't play short. But i'll hit when i played third. That's possible or stop kingery ing him and just give them a position and leave him alone..
