those those questions remain sixty minutes decided to investigate and corresponded sure now Fonsi previews Sunday's report guards found abstaining approximately six thirty three AM and sources say one of them could be over heard saying breed that Steen brief forensic pathologist doctor Michael Baden who observed the autopsy for the existing family believes the Jeffrey Epstein died around four thirty that morning two hours earlier the guard say they came in at six thirty they found them they call emergency services they tried to do CPR with them that he's dead but rather than leave the body there they take the body to an emergency room yeah is that normal protocol no that's a that's not normal protocol the EMS people normally especially in jail should not move a dead body he's right bureau of prison protocol mandates a suicide scene should be treated with the same level of protection as any crime scene in which a death has occurred journal finds he is with us now Sharon welcome what what is the prison guards do with Jeffrey of Steve's body so immediately after they discovered and they took him to the hospital and they were trying to do CPR and I'm on about an hour after I got to the hospital they declared him officially dead about seven thirty and then hitting them work out when they did the autopsy the next day what we know about what was found in Jeffrey absence jail cell so it's interesting you would think that it would be if sparks right this is a federal prison high security out what we have learned through our reporting is that there was multiple she said there are lots of bad and an electrical cord no prescription medicine there is actually notes and a paper he had written a note and on Sunday will show you what that man said so in the PC or heard saying that a guard was saying read as Jeffrey breed it so this was widely known what was happening in the present or to we we aren't sure well we know the way that the prison was set up he was in a in a secure area were there about eight cells and so we have heard and our our sources tell us that the guards could be over heard saying brie that sting breed and what's kind of areas that after that the prisoners that were in that secure area all started chanting breed that steam bring it so the first day with the prisoners other prisoners were aware of what was going on something was going on it's you know the doors are blocked they probably couldn't see that much but certainly they heard the commotion or that with Mr video surveillance in there and in in that area it's a great question we know that there was video surveillance facing the guard's status which is outside of the area where he was we are told that the video facing the cells the video the might have seen his cell door was corrected so on the question what was in his jail cell I mean is entering you would expect it to be Spartan if currently it wasn't but was that a violation there in that cell and was it with was an unusual to find bed sheets there's a very specific bureau of prison protocol but what's allowed inside the cell and I think you'll see on Sunday when you see the photos that a lot of the betting raises a lot of questions as you know it had been reported that he made a first failed suicide attempt weeks earlier and yet his cell is covered in bedding and sheets he was the only person in the south and if there were enough sheets for lots of people you can see the full report on this week's sixty minutes on Sunday on your local CBS station still to come the democratic presidential heard is standing here listening to the CBS news we can round up on the CBS news weekend round up I'm bill Rakoff joining me now is CBS news congressional on Washington correspondent ed o'keefe we're going to talk a little bit about the presidential campaign in just a minute but let's start out with Congress returning in the Senate returned on Friday the house is back on Monday number one item will be the agenda of impeachment and just how the trial is going to look but we still have an awful lot of questions that remain before we even start talking about when it's going to happen yes exactly I mean we we have Democrats of course still are clamoring for the ability to call witnesses and and essentially have them ready to go at the start of this trial worse as Republicans who are recalling the precedent set during the Bill Clinton impeachment trial that essentially allowed the Senate trial to begin and then left open the option of possibly calling witnesses later if the impasse continues into Tuesday or Wednesday then this could be drawn out affair but if Nancy Pelosi comes back and sends the articles of impeachment over to the Senate in sort of forces Senate Republicans hands and we'll see exactly how quickly this begins everyone anticipates it will begin at some point in January it's just a question of when exactly that's because everybody on both sides of the aisle would like to get this over with you know maybe even if it's got some witnesses attached to it they still wanted over sooner than later for campaign and other purposes right not only do the Democrats running for president who are centers want this over with but the Republican senators running for reelection there are more Republicans and Democrats doing so are also eager to clear the decks of this and everyone generally wants to be able to do again what they did at the end of the year which is passed several big ticket items with bipartisan support remember right before Christmas they laughed and were able to pass a new trade deal in the house which will be taken up soon by the Senate there was work on a prescription drug benefit plan that also will get completed at some point early this year but also the government decided to keep the lights on through the end of the fiscal year September meeting there will be another shut down and it was a massive defense bill that had several other unrelated items in it that allows many members to go home and crow about home state or personal priorities that should help them get reelected so they'll be looking to do that again probably no later than Easter in April at which point essentially the re election season really begins in earnest to the president for a minute add you he has gone back and forth on this while he says he is inclined to follow the lead of Mitch McConnell Lindsey Graham another Senate Republicans as to how the Senate trial should look almost in the same breath afterwards he generally follows up but wouldn't it be great to hear from the whistle blower and see who that was a blower is so the president may be saying one thing but maybe privately he's still looking perhaps for show I think in this case in this instance as with most instances he is his own worst enemy here and while Republicans are sort of urging him to restrain himself and allow this thing to play out as quickly expeditiously as possible yes clearly the president would like to see a show and be able to stick it to his opponents his democratic critics especially not only does he want to hear from the whistle blower he'd love to see a situation where Joe and hunter Biden or track and by the Senate to explain themselves in the issue that essentially was the obsession of the president last year and because its impeachment inquiry to begin but the bite and say that they are necessarily up for obliging to any Senate subpoena so switch gears and talk about the presidential campaign for just a moment this week saw who the young Kastro suspend his campaign Marianne Williamson pretty much lay off her entire staff though is she still considers herself I guess to be in the race here the herd is standing a little bit but other still an awful lot of candidates out there that's right eight feel that once had twenty eight contenders has been cut in half to what some of us would think is a more manageable fourteen certainly for many voters it still overwhelming but really you have to look at maybe no more than seven at this point that are in this and either through polling or fund raising or both have built the kind of formidable operation that has the potential to go for a little while that is of course Bernie Sanders Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren Pete booted judge Amy club which are Andrew gang and I guess to some extent while you have to say Mike Bloomberg who is self funding and isn't even worrying about fundraising but all of those others hit double digits in the fourth quarter and my banking away that kind of money they are able to essentially bankroll not only the staff budget in the travel but potentially advertising and the ability to open up operations in new states should they somehow prevail in the first four contests and want to continue on into super Tuesday is Andrea hang a nobody at the beginning of the year at least in the political sense said just this week he now believes that with the sixteen and a half billion dollars he raised in the fourth quarter he has the potential not to go the distance well into the spring CBS news is that keep on Capitol Hill for us thanks so much for "United states and that's very important in that a good deal of that would be done by the judiciary committee that john wall gdp consideration you have one members or gregory meeks is already called for him to be withdrawn his ranking member that's something in that in your power catch you decided he should be suspended his ranking member on judiciary of all committees for him to be ranking this all happened during the thanksgiving break when we come together to the guinean this week i think john will do that are not going to unilaterally make this decision i'm not i'm not sharing that with you right now but what i am saying is this is a big distraction and it's very very important to you know that the beginning of the women's movement katie elizabeth katie stent lived in in central falls she would hear down below examples of a family domestic violence and that was one of the motivators for her to advance the cause of women so this is as old as well so that civilization private but in terms of our history in terms of the women's movement one at the motivators now one hundred years after her fight for the right to women to vote we will have will clear the deck on this but i am here to talk about something also transformative in our society and that is this tax bill that the recovery inuit four and i wanna get into this but this seems to be soclean kong there seems to be a bit of a political paralysis here and try to figure it is it isn't we're moving we this week we will pass bipartisan legislation for mandatory on antiharassment anti discrimination behavior a big cool then take the larger issue which has to pass both houses of congress are for ending the nondisclosure ending a who pays all of the concerns that we have about this but i don't think that it should i think that we want to give people hope this is going to be addressed women have spoken out their concerns will be addressed in a way that i think will give comfort as well as end or of this behaviour because you know what it's disgusting it's repulsive and and it has to be zerotolerant will congress will you support congress retroactively making public all of these private settlements the taxpayer dollars have been used it necessarily liked.
