"Very good dribbling. He's very good running with the ball <hes> he's he's good at arriving. In the penalty box of you remember some of those goals on the gold cup even with chelsea. I think he's he's arriving well well and something we've been talking to them about and <hes> you know a very dynamic player in your reference tim playing next to the strike. You know ah in in offense. He was more of an attacking midfielder in in defense. He moves up next to strike. If we when we defend in a four four two you know we've defended in other ways where he has other roles and responsibilities but that was primarily what we did in the gold cup. There were times against mexico like i said where he shifted over to the left. Josie was central jordan moved up and we had you know pressing three and that change a little bit but <hes> overall. We've been really happy with his contribution to the team. Take away the results of course but but the friendliest coming up what's the focus for you and your group in terms of what you want the team to work on what you want to get out of it what you want to develop whether it's in possession defensively. You're just what the group in general so. I think that against <hes> you know mexico is going to be a great game because that was our last game and for us we can analyze is make adjustments and then see how that works give the guy's real specific tasks to work on that. We can improve from that game and <hes> you know. That's the fun part of it against so we're gonna be looking to make them run more. Make them run without the ball. I think we didn't do a good job. At there's number times a game we play back zach and and you know he doesn't have enough option to play out or he's choosing not to play and that that can't be the case. We need to make these guys run. It can't just be us running around <hes> <hes> so that's gonna be the priority there defensively we still want to be able to to pressure them so you wanna be able to move into a higher type of press at times but we have to be control <hes> we we have to control the tempo the game and something we didn't do well in in the final <hes> against uruguay i think it's going to be an interesting exercise of trying to break down a very compact for four to a very physical compact for for two <hes> and then you know being able to defend some of the quality that they have <hes>. It's an ex. It'll be <hes> you know. We know they're robust. We know they're physical. We know they're well organized. We know there's very little space between their lines. It's going to be about figuring out how to break that down so you had a quote greg that i thought was really interesting and also just spot onto poyton oreo n._f._l. In the athletic excuse me it was basically as a fan. I can understand we are thirsty for talent for people who can come in and make an impact and i heard the way that you spoke about paxton and i'm thinking about sardinia destined miles robinson in these guys that are coming in and on boarding and getting comfortable a long long list there if you look at twitter if you look at the message boards if you if you read columns or tear us talk about sometimes we get excited. We wanna see these guys right away. How do you approach approach and these two games in this camp moving them in because there are a lot of people out there will say put insurgent. Let's see sergeant. We've seen josse. How do you balance that sort of developmental side as well as the side where you just you want to go out and perform. Execute the things that you work on. It's a good question. I think that <hes> you know there's probably gonna gonna be some of those guys that that may not play the games and you guys are going to be disappointed and that's gonna be you know how it goes. <hes> you know we'd like to to get them on the field. Some of them will get on the field starting two games and for us it's again. It's about picking the right moment and and setting a guy. I think it's setting a guy up for success. You you know when you think about a guy like sardinia death. <hes> you know who's playing in these champion seed qualifiers. I mean these are absolutely crucial fixtures for his club. They lose this. It's a massive amount of money. They're losing and they have the faith to play this guy in the game. So you know my guess is that he's probably ready to play at at the international level any it's worth giving him an opportunity to international level. <hes> you know paxton is a is a different story. You know your sub done for dallas last game. You know it's we're we're talking about a completely different level players that right now but does he have interesting. Quality says he's shown enough during the year. You know to bring them into the environment see how he does absolutely so. It's it's there's not one right answer and i'm the same way you guys are except <hes> you know. These guys have progressed so quickly that i can use it. I think gee. I wish he was ready to you. Know wish it was four years later and he was at the top of his game. That's exciting to me paxton <hes> miles. You know all these guys but i also realize it's a process i realize it takes time and what we're doing is gathering as much information as possible to to to find out there absolutely ready so processes and interesting word and we hear hear it all the time in sports play greg. I think i hear from you ally and i wonder what it means for. You not necessarily sort of in this time. We're talking about the roster making those decisions but literally day to day you go from the club side and you understand what that is. It's your with your players everyday. You're working on something. What is your day to day like now at the national team. Has it changed. Have you settled into a rhythm. What are you doing so. That's exactly what i'm working on is is a is a strict process. <hes> you know of workflow and you know we define weeks with the coaching staff. They're all here in chicago and we say okay this week. We're going to you know analyze our game against mexico and we're gonna. We're gonna make a new structure. <hes> we're going to experiment with you know coming up with a new structure of how we're gonna defend that say three or four three for example and we'll detail all the you know the ins ends and outs of a three four three how it works high block our mid block our work slow blah and just go it doesn't mean we're going to use it but just going through that exercise. The next week will focus on <hes> you know opponents scouting we'll take uruguay for example and and break them down. <hes> you know i'll i'll have weeks. It'd be personal development weeks. You know i was in in severe. The <hes> you guys probably saw that with low potato gay <hes> you know learning from him talking to him. Then i went to switzerland to meet <hes> pick the coaches of the swiss national team you know trying to get information trying to learn more about the international game and how they approached you know developing the teams so it's it's something that <hes> you know. I'm looking afford actually to this fall because it is regular games. You know you go september october november so the i think there's a nice rhythm to have those games worked and it'll be it'll be nice to you know after the camps and settle in <hes> analyze plan execute analyze plan in the next few one of the big parts of your job that we see you is is traveling around watching your players playing with their clubs setups. What's set up in terms of scouting how often you keep in communication with the players in the pool and then the other part heart is with these potential nationals players that you could have coming in but haven't decided if they're part of the u._s. What's the process in terms of talking with them and trying to get them in a lot of questions that one yeah that was a good one so every monday <hes> every every weekend <hes> <hes> coaches are assigned to watch <hes> certain games and analyze certain players we give players ratings for every single performance <hes> tuesday we have a call which usually lasts about about or call or just a meeting which usually last about five hours and we we review every player's performance and all the games m._l._s. games foreign games and we talk about the ratings. We're watch video clips of the game. We want to have a very good understanding of what these players are doing. <hes> so that's a big portion of time. We'd like to get out to the clubs. Meet the clubs. I meet the people talk to the coaches. <hes> and that's something we're continuing to develop. I talked to a club yesterday and and they said well. Why don't you come in and talk to the coach about how we should use. This guy and i and i thought it was. I thought it was a great idea and we need to do that more. <hes> you know another club yesterday. M._l._s. club. We have the plan of how we're going to develop this player. We had a conference call and talk about you know how we're gonna get this player to the top of his game <hes> to help both the club in the country so that that works been good in terms of dual nationals. I think that <hes> you know we have a responsibility federation to be tracking these players and <hes> <hes> and to be communicating with these players most importantly and then we need to show them that we have the environment. That's gonna make them better. You know i'm a firm believer and you know we wanna a creative environment. That's both enjoyable and the players believe they can progress in and if we do that <hes> you know. Hopefully they'll choose russ. There's gonna be cases where they don't choose rush and there's gonna be personal reasons that dictate that and and we're going to have to live with that but if we give our best effort to either keep these players or attract these players. I think we can live the result a five hour conference call once a week breaking down every player number greg. I'll meet myself. Just throw me on the back. <hes> you hundreds of dollars. You can be part of it one time. Oh you guys won't do it. Though i know you won't hit me we we will book my hat gago. I will literally fly to chicago right now. Camp outside of the of the soccer house last one greg and i know people have been on you about the communication nation with younger players etcetera etcetera and this is a little bit tongue in cheek but i just wonder how that works with.

"He's a player who's in there now and he's kind of in that that fringe but tyler adams was hurt you know there there's a crop of players that i think are are coming into this team and then gregg berhalter has a vision for what and how this team should be playing and the players are buying into it so there are gonna be bumps in the road this isn't gonna be overnight usa isn't gonna turn into a man city you know no matter no matter who's coaching this team if you just look at the the players on on deck that's the reality and so it's a tough position there's not a lot of goodwill in the tank right now fan perspective yeah and and rightfully so you know i think as the story we reported last year and the ringer this the organization position inside usa soccer knew there were deep structural problems inside the men's team and they didn't addressed them and they let them fester and they got worse in the usa missed the world cup right which was which was a very preventable thing and now what this team needs the challenge lynch where this team is not only do you have to win but you have to win back the loyalty of fans who you know maybe don't feel like supporting it especially when you at soccer is doubling down on not paying the women equally and just you know they're they're seems like they're all these unforced errors that or they're turning people away from this organization you mentioned him already but i'm gonna ask again because it was a question posed by one bill simmons in our inner slack channel which is how much longer do we have to watch michael bradley play soccer city u s a n d b m i mean i think he's he there's a there's a high chance he's on the roster for the what it would be twenty twenty two world cup you know he's in qatar he's thirty one years old 'em i understand the michael bradley frustration station but it's almost like he's i think kevin car another one of my colleagues said something to the effect of like no team with him seems like they're gonna contend but then the team is worse without him so we got on of like you need him still name a better defensive midfielder in the u s pool other than tyler adams he's hurt then michael bradley yeah it's you really can't do it and you watch some of those you know i mentioned that one diagonal ball a lot of the best you ask kind of chances says from the run and play get traded because michael bradley hits passes that very few other players in the pool can hit i think it's just unfair unfairly just that ball bearded head in the middle of homes the symbol of failure psc here in in associated with failure yeah yeah end end you know his his his liabilities were on on display in the second half when he was basically a slow slow and ask the cover a lot of ground and got and you know but he in western mckinney got beat on on mexico school which partially as a result of communication but it's also michael bradley isn't the spry young young chicken that he wants was you know so she mentioned that involves were in play at soldier field for the gold cup darko would definitely definitely had been sent to offer any number of the show call yeah yeah and and that was pretty vicious it was and how did the referee not he's literally standing right next oh i know yeah maybe he's scared of the fans a high so you s and then he loses to mexico go cup did you watch any of the copa america final three honest i i made i made a choice so it's like i only do too and i'm not gonna do both games you know speaking of did you was there anything to you to repeat those comments that it was unfair fifa scheduled to men's finals on the same day as the women's world cup final yeah i mean i think you know grant wall interviewed the head of conquer calf and it's like why did you schedule.

"By the way. It's true. Gregg berhalter. Hey, coach the US men's national team. Not only came on the show again came on the show in studio yesterday. US men's national team tweeted out a picture of he and I in studio, which I reached weeded, and then my man, my main man Kevin Frazier jumped in. But and I would talk soccer over the years. "All right. So that literally was the easiest our I've done in a long time. Why? Because three amazing things happened three amazing things happen. And that was easy enough to carry that. I our amazing thing. Number one. We have the US men's national soccer head coach on Gregg Berhalter. Not only die talk. Soccer. I talked to the new national coach, and it was awesome. That was amazing. The second amazing thing that happened was my opening take. What can I say? The third amazing thing that happened was Jeff in San Antonio called. That's an easy easy. Our the second hour is going to be amazing to Tobias Harris next segment Joe Montana after that. So this second hour could be everybody as good as the first hour. But then again, maybe not because there's nobody in our number two that is the bad ass. Jeff and San Antonio is. And that's saying a lot because arguably the greatest quarterback ever is going to be on the show this hour. Yeah. I went there. I mean, there's bad ass. And then there's bad assery Jeff in San Antonio. Now. I ran out of time at the end of the hour. So there's something as part of that call that we did not address I touched on it. I said did he talk about rolling that thing out? Did he talk about a launch on February third or April fifth? Did he do that? In fact, he did do that. And a few of you picked up on why he did that February third or April fifth as the launch date for his baby Jordan brand why February third is to three April fifth is four or five. Get it. Twenty three forty five. One more thing about Jeff like, I don't know if Jeff has a business plan or if Jeff just got the domain rights for baby, Jordan. Whatever it is. He thinks he's going to be a billionaire. Meantime, tweets lots and lots of tweets really quickly jed in Illinois tweets. Hey, Buffalo Wild Wings, better stack up some extra napkins for Jeff but not for his hands. Give him anything. More than mild in tears will be flowing. Gary near Tahoe tweets base for keeping Jeff on hold ten minutes. His break was almost over and the dishes were piling up in the kitchen regards. The Buffalo Wild Wings manager. Jeff one more thing that makes you a bad ass way to go to one of our partners, wait to make that phone call from a landline or a hard line from Buffalo Wild Wings respect. Rome complete. Your the flight decks in the house, James Kelly. What's up? Y'all looking.

"And essentially these teams are picking up huge portion of those burdens if you if you if you will this is Tam squeezing out the mid tier player. This is all of a sudden guys who are probably went twenty four. Thirty the prime. Yeah. You're and they're being forced out because Tam entices you to go after foreign players, it's all it's all of a sudden like a different salary of different budget that you have to go chase foreign players, and it becomes cheaper to go face to go for the foreign player than it is to pay the domestic player. This isn't the only profession that this happens to I was talking to a few people in one mentioned that it's happening a journalist actually one mention that. It's happening to journalist comes a point in time where they gotta sit down and will this really put food on the table, and they're having journalists general just soccer generous or why I would assume journalists in general, but this was a soccer journalist, they're being they're being sort of priced out. Happened. It happened to a lot of fighters. I know as well. My brother just became a police officer in in Las Vegas, and I'm sure there came a point where he decided right, whereas long-term, what can I do my family this and that what is martyred move. This martyr play is not like other countries where all your eggs in one basket. You look at the way that MLS has rewarded these such Tam players and not domestic product. Let's go back in in time for second Benfield harbor Lee win, you know, these players who are very very good domestic players who had to scramble had to scramble, and you could say, yeah. The four hundred thousand these guys are making half of the million. They're making good coin. But why is it any different than the million? You give you know, some guy who's in the San Jose roster. You'd never even heard of who they hasn't done anything in this league. And clearly does not have what these players have. What about a Walker Zimmerman even really let him walk out is Elliott literally going. Let this kid walkout. Tim parker. You gotta pay them. Aaron long users dependent of the year. Why why is any other player coming from abroad treated differently treated better? This is supposed to be legal choice, isn't that what you've heard over and over again and help the American game. Where can aren't you supposed to throw the American game? So if you have mid tier players, listen, you could see what you went there. Mid tier players central for the growth of Major League Soccer players were the backbone of Major League Soccer when when you were talking about the financial crisis that you were going through, and you were folding teams in the times are rough before you had Heineken Audi and all these different companies jumping on jumping on the bandwagon..

"So afterwards, our guy muddies you'll pay that also was posting all this stuff of him just going after starting a fight with a guy Saint some really nasty things. Hold on hold on. You're not getting you're not getting the whole picture here. And there was a point. There's a photo. It's like it's like a sleep. Are you seriously not going to paint the picture? I'm look I'm not crushing him. I mean, it was a it was a crushing defeat for those. They were up or is it two zero global game goes back and forth back and forth. The end up. The end up losing the game dagger, son lease champions. And when he's coming out the way out of those has this you got to keep in mind. He wasn't allowed on the field. He was in. It was in a sweet, Michael. He coming back down trying to get to the elevator. And the way they have this setup. Is you have fans literally within feet of the as he's walking by arms arm's reach. They can literally touch them, and they all break out their phones and start recording himselves, dealing obscenities. Yeah, they treat him really bad. Even in the crowd. There was all this stuff. It was anti anti-matter recording themselves, yelling obscenities things you can't repeat in Madonna. I do not excuse, but he showed us pretty much every single person thought he might do when he signed. Every single pundit thought, this was going to be a disaster because something would happen. There would be some moment. What all comeback and remind us why we thought day ornamental might. I be a bad bad bad decision. And he starts swinging at people. Yeah. Why do they love him in law? They don't like them in San Luis. Both see what do you mean? Why are they gonna like them anywhere else? The head coach of the head coach is on. Maybe like something about there's a an advocate for what might those was able to do certainly in some parts of Mexico. Same where is here and everywhere else. Why do you remember do you? Remember his comments before he made he made the World Cup in Mexico ninety six one of the most memorable sporting events of all time you member the World Cup bid twenty twenty six how he's trying to make. He was trying to make sure that they knew that makes good and deserve it over Morocco than than in two thousand eighteen where he couldn't believe he had some derogatory comments about Mexico being a more pro Morocco. And I mean, there's reasons why Mexico the Mexican public in general does not like Madonna. You you. Doing causing affect there's no way you really think might have known is worth all this. I just think there's something to it. Because clearly the players of those Loa re respond to him whether how much he does or not the fact that he's their coach. And it's the greatest player of all time. That's right. I said it that carries enough weight where they aren't crazy. If you think is greatest player of all time use you does with a soccer ball. But not when it can't see this with you. You know, what counts the most last few years when it's competition. What's what's the hardest soccer competition in the world annual Champions League? No, just in general. It's a champion. It's not the World Cup Champions League. Yeah. Okay. Okay. And and the last I mean messy was victorious last time out. The last few years when it's his MRIs team. It hasn't remiss I have quarter quarter PHI. PHI. Oh, five or k Cristiano has competed in the same decade. You know, what messy would be without Cristiano Renaldo? He could be ten. Whatever that's just in individual wards in sports like soccer, or you're the one who said it. I don't I don't write them. I hate individual wards in sports team sports. I don't like them. Like right now. They're starting this Heisman talk and their who should win. It. I go. Who cares? It's not. It's it's it's not a sport. Where you celebrate individuality. It's about worse. It is. I don't I know in soccer too. But clearly the soccer world. Now it depends on the team. That's why teams win World Cups. That's why teams win Champions League..

And that's why letter after the game was pointing from a man pointing up a man pointing to his hearts, and you guys got to play what he didn't say you guys got play with heart because they tell you what the guy who you love ripping on samba Saambou. I tell you what level. Yeah. But he's screaming score in the ball of stop. That's easy. Stop please Somboon is on a different level your second one based on my comment earlier about how South Americans have inherited this major league soccer's success level that maybe we see him in mammals. What do you think you've got an affinity for South Americans? They're getting it done. No matter where they're from. Right, right, dude. I'm just saying is is going to be a fantastic series. It'll be interesting to see how a style your sticker that turf grass I should say holds up. Monterey. So. Last time they played. We're gonna pick us cruise vessel. You got to say can I put the I cruise which is my pick some sticking with them to win though thing. But now I have boom us getting by Bouma's was that won't with them about and they were pretty smooth. They got I mean, they they would've gone through as a higher seed, correct? And they scored the goal by late to make sure there was another goal by our side. This would have gone through because the road go away goal, but it but at the before the gold Bouma would have gone through. Anyway, I just told us to one to one to one. Yes. Correct. All right. But there was still pressure. And they came up scored that goal. So that was that was a against the team that everyone thought was going to win because of their pedigree in the playoffs. And for good reason. So I I mean they. Manica versus there's this one the final. Okay, Tim, Tim, got crews will America he just texted sevi-, then we'll get on there. Then we'll just keep going like, I said playoffs are fun and. Bruce of think just show that this is this is the year. I mean, there's there's still a lot of places where they can clip hurdle here. But that is pretty pretty impressive. Elsewhere the not the promotion game. But it's the game at least promotion promotions. A lot of wack in Mexico. Diego maradona. Already one last thing. Mention Bob on meet us. I really I didn't v big fan of his calling as by really enjoy it. Now. Who's? Eagle. Nobody goes. Really quickly before we move on. Two thousand fifteen championship sixteen chimp shift doesn't seventeen championship. Copa tells them fourteen. They went to LeBron is in what was fourteen I believe they've had to. Two Champions League finals runners up. I'm not even talking about the tournaments. They lost in the league. I make spinal they've lost. This is by far the most accomplished team of the decade. And if they can go out to nineteen with one more championship, and maybe a what could be a concave Champions League championship. They will no doubt cement themselves as king grand, the fifth big team in Mexico. It's good. I'm glad we got that in. King took it. Hyundai these titles. Are you gonna Kusei so yard? Right. Yeah. "They continue to to work hard. And ultimately last year, they they went and they stop and unfortunately for them from a club standpoint, as as we spoke earlier, the, you know, the wasn't the same success as it was last year for Toronto in terms of this year, but you know, Jozies obviously had a few injuries here. And there maybe not playing at at one hundred percent, but still kinda putting himself forward, and and those can be difficult times in trying times what I would say is that those guys in terms of their experience, and and just what they. They seeing from international football standpoint. Because international football is different from club football on an obviously numerous different levels to be able to have those guys as resources, and and speak to and talk to from the younger guys and very looking at going forward guys that are just moving to Europe and starting their their young European careers or trying to break into teams in Europe, Josie, traveled everywhere in your Michael traveled everywhere in Europe. And so I think they they for sure have have something to offer. From from a team standpoint. And from a program standpoint, Brad, just speaking for yourself, and maybe you can speak on behalf other guys. Just the fact that a coach has been named that has to that has to be almost cathartic for the player base knowing who's in charge. How how how was your reaction to it? Yeah. I mean, regardless of whoever they named and and I think Greg's Donna fantastic job with Columbus. But regardless of whoever they named you you look at the national team games over the last couple the last couple fixture dates, and you know, you it's never easy. When you go into those games with with a young group guys that are on different wavelengths in terms of their their individual careers of playing time. And if they're playing if they're not playing how much time, and so it's when you go into those types of situations to have a permanent manager and to be able to have his right or wrong. That's going to be that that's going to be a huge bonus. That's going to be a huge. Plus, and like I said Greg's been fantastic with Columbus. And and it was really giving them an identity of how how they wanted to play. And I think going forward for the for the national team. It'll be good to have that idea in that that organization. Going forward into into games. Brad. You mentioned about the younger players had an over to Europe..

"Re- regardless of where he goes if he goes to Mexico afterwards, if he goes to to to any other country, if you take some another club position, you wish him well, you wish him well. He's been great for our club. He's been great for us. So wherever wherever he he had he ends up. You like I said you you wish him all the best. So any thought about Nick, I mean, any thought after this weekend about how this club might look like or are you excited about just because of the way the club has been able to just please everyone at every step. They seem to do everything where you go. If you're fangled, this is great. So any any thought at all about what the future holds? When you wake up. You're trying to say they're going to blow up Atlanta. No. But could. Who'd look different. No, of course, and again in world football in in in clubs around the world and national teams around the world and and in any team. When a season it, and there's gonna be changed. There's going to be changed from player personnel. There's gonna be change obviously from a managerial standpoint there's going to be changed. And and sometimes change is good. Sometimes change is bad. You just have to wait and say, but but changes inevitable, and so it's part of professional sports. Not just soccer the sports that were playing. It's it's an all sports. And so that's the challenge of being able to to be successful year. After year is is trying to put together the pieces that allow that to happen. So. We'll worry about that. After after Saturday night enough this at all is right now are focused on this weekend and income Saturday, Brad, let's talk a little little national team. You're thirty four years old. You physically look like you're in the best shape of your life. You're having a.

"But what right now is the energy like in Atlanta. Yeah. It's huge. It's huge from the standpoint that the city is buzzing everyone's talking about it. We all know the. The difficulties that the city's had it when it comes to to championships in finals, and and winning the ultimate prize in whatever sport, it may be and in the city of Atlanta has struggled to say the least and now have opportunity to to hopefully, bring a title to to the city and state everyone's behind us. But like I said, there's a huge buzz around the city everyone's talking about the about the team everyone's talking about the week kind of leading up to Saturday. And ultimately, we know we know Saturday is going to be it's going to be really special. Brad. You can say Atlanta is a miserable sports town. They they they they don't win in anything. They don't have any fans support. I mean, how is it that the falcons this is the falcons stadium. The they draw half your numbers explained to me. How has it landed gun so big how is it? Landa United gotten. So big. Listen, first of all, I'm I'm not I'm not going to sit there and agree with you in terms of if being a failure of sports down in in the sense of of attendance, and this and that I will say is when the stadium was designed and built it wasn't just designed built with the Felker in mind. It was built with us in mind as well. So as much as you're saying, it's it's the falcons stadium. There's some people from Atlanta United. I would argue that that that's our stadium. Those people felt come on. Brad. Why is it land United so popular? It's the answer. Share it with us. Come on. The the reason being is the fans have obviously turned out in huge numbers. But also the product on the field in terms of the the style of soccer that we play the silo football. The quality of our of our players, you got someone like the gal Joseph. You know, these these guys are exciting players. And beside that I've. Think it's also been a cool experience for fans to be able to go to games, and it's a it's a cool ticket to have. And like I said the fans of tremendous in terms of turning out for games. But also just getting behind the team in. Up to the stadium and watch the game show to stadium and make sure our voices are heard Brad we touched about predictions and why we went one direction. There's something happened in the postseason where you guys went to where you were strongly bid to where you were a fine tuned machine and just rip through New York City ripped through the New York red bulls. What did you see in practice in the build up that was there a switch was it more defined? Or was it just that things started falling your way? No, I think that it was definitely things where we discussed things especially after the red bowl game in the regular season away. And then as you guys mentioned Toronto the last game season Toronto away where we where we through the support she'll out the window. And so we talked about making sure that when we step on the field next time, regardless of who we are against that. We're gonna make it difficult and make sure that we actually competed in terms of physical physical ability and our mental toughness when times got off. And I think we've shown that in the playoffs. Now that were not just a team that can pass the ball and play beautiful football. But we can we can scrap and fight and ultimately roller sleeves up and get a little bit dirty. And I think we've probably gone that way more so than the beautiful football during the playoffs. But at this point the at this point in the game. It's about making sure you're in the final which we are. And now, it's. It's now gives us opportunity. So hopefully winning them Brad. Listen to other confession. You're gonna hate us. You know, I love you. You're one of my favorite favorite team mates ever the polar bear go on. But max and myself both picked red bulls as sports, you'll champions. We knew that when crunch time we were right? But you just hit the nail on the head..

"Insurance. So he switched and save. Then he did kind of a touchdown. At least. He was still good that. All right. We're back here on the max and her podcast thrilled to have friend of the podcast, and it at a nice layer to it that he's getting ready to participate in MLS Cup in the hometown of his club. Right now. It is brags. Add Brad was second time. You've been on with us. Third time. I I'm not sure I'm not sure. But it's always it's always a pleasure. It's always great talking you guys. So rector back. I'd like to think we're directly responsible for. Your success in Major League Soccer because the pod succeed in Major League Soccer. Yeah. I mean, listen, obviously, all the credit goes you guys. So we actually. Thank you. Great job did a great job Bank. But we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna spoil the party right now. Neither one of us picked it Lanta to win MLS couple not before not at the beginning of pass. We neither one of us did. And then that's when the Senate is just gonna come to an end, right? I feel so wrong as the playoffs. Played out like way way, I was way off base. Maybe just stop doing predictions of this show. You know, I will who who were your predictions. I had red bull's. We've already red bull's eye had red bull Seattle exporting. Gotcha. Gotcha. All right. All right. Well, I ruined this wrong. Hold on. Let's let's context we picked these picks right after you guys were blown away by one of the worst teams in the league in Toronto FC feeling. Blown away. Yes. But one of the worst in the league I would disagree with. Record. More than great. But forget that. They also did a double last year. Most historic team. So I'm not taking any Toronto. But statistics. All right, Brad. You're obviously getting prepared for MLS cop. It's been a crazy just successful year on the field and off the field for Atlanta. I went to my first game. It was that second leg New York in Atlanta. I've never experienced. I I think this is the best venue to watch a game in all of Major League Soccer all of North America. Max hates you're stating. Because it's too big. But I absolutely love it. Two two big in in what sense? This is just too big. It's hard to get from one end to the other. I just getting my my legs don't move like they used to. So is more where where we where we where we're supposed to put our seventy three thousand fans. If I was thinking kind of like upwards like in a spiral where like, it'd be you know, I just maybe some new technological advancement. I think it is. He's a Florida state fan. He's got like some weird rivalry going on state. We were supposed to play in that stadium anytime big games. And we have failed to do it. And we did play Alabama there once and they blew the doors off a so that stadium does give me a little it gives me little he'd be gbs when I get near it. Because of the college football connection that is true. Fair enough wall aside from that I would have to agree with her in the sense of. Yes, it's the the atmosphere and environment is Saddam. We're lucky to be able to call it home into to to be able to play a file now in front of our home fans. It's going to be a him be a special night. First of all it is spectacular. When it's there when I'm seated it's there's nothing quite like it. But what is it just to get your thought right now being there? What is it like a head of MS Cup? We have been noticing from afar. "Ernie's gonna they're play Lambley stadium. God. I don't wanna go to Wembley. I you're right. This is what it's come down to this is what the culture. Oh my goodness. This is pathetic. This is pathetic. I wish who was interviewed interviewed parking. I wished it would pressed him on that. You've got a press them. What do you mean? He may. He may have he may have locked up at that point because they don't want to much because then he's going to have to answer. This who was it. No, no player wants that. He's like, oh, I don't know. If you throw it out there, you gotta be a pair to answer. It throw it out there. I me. But may I mean, we'll have to talk to him to get a maybe he was just like, maybe it's a feeling he got from there. But I mean, if you see it, obviously US camps under these circumstances did not fill you up with pride and all all the good feelings that come with representing national team. It wasn't a great experience. And it's the the dark Shah the dark storms of not making the World Cup remain. And I don't know when those are going to be shaken I think the best way to do it is find success, but there's been very. Title of that. So they remain and that's going to hurt these psyche. And the confidence of a US soccer team. They're gonna start we we're not supposed to compete. Let me ask you a question. Ground will Mexico who were the two players you've most criticized in the US soccer pool after the the buckle. That was a qualification process to the world doesn't eighteen crush these players. Who were they crush them crush them? Bunch of players didn't just to Michael in Josie. Okay. We and we spoken to Michael on this podcast. We spoken to Michael he's a friend of the maximum podcast because he's been on the show. We spoke to him. What did he say? He wants to be back with the national team at any capacity. Feels he's got a lot of time left Josie out the door. When there was a question. What questions about his fitness? I want them back. What did you say? I welcome them backup back. These are guys that have played over one hundred gains their national team. They've made their money. What has happened this quote dairy back in a heartbeat? Players look in there. Come on perk. People didn't want the back. But when they hear stuff like this, and they say, okay. Well, some of these guys are not really feeling playing. These guys are going to these guys have a chance to come full circle. And be the knights in shining armor to say, no, we we will get you out of this. Because right now, there has to be more confidence in them or that conferences growing back than what we currently have. And you have to look for that experience or something to kind of guys to to smack get out tell you what I guarantee you turning on culture has to change. I've I can only speak coaches can only speak for the coaches that I played under. But this wouldn't have flown with Bob, Bradley. Are you kidding me? No, wait. What what you're never play. Again. You're never playing don't worry about don't worry about playing whereabout. Get them. Not get an Email. You're getting a fax. You're not gonna get carrier pigeons. The pony nothing. Nothing Klinsmann buried in culture from Bob, Bradley but land landed at a time where he didn't wanna come back. He didn't come back and he ruled with an iron fist there the World Cup. So Gregg Berhalter, I wish him the best really do. But the first thing has to change the culture. Every sport where there's not insubordination. It's too strong of a word here, but anything to that effect where you're not aligned with a coach, and you are pushing back at you're not convinced that you're part of that's that's it. It's over there's the separation certainly more. So when it comes to the national team. So that is. You you hope for the best. And you you pray for some good news. And you pray for something. That says all right, we're turning, but it's not in. The more information comes out you see how damaged to me the. The projects. But at least we have a coach now her at least there's a coach there..

"You wanna look good? So get to Indochino suits. Okay. So talking about Gregg Berhalter, and there was an interesting quote from Michael parkers and experienced player who did was in the US system. He was on MLS rewind Taylor twelve and and he said this the tough part for any coach right now is just getting the players bought back into wearing the US jersey and the pride that comes with that. It is. About a is a real chore from what we've heard here we've heard it from a couple of other places for some of these players apparently to get called up. This is certainly for US team that was without a permanent coach for the past years. So certainly that plays as well. But this to me is the most startling part about obviously the with regards to the search. This was very disappointing. But what has been the by product of that? If you have a player base that is not really gung ho to play for the national team. You're gonna have a fan base. That's not gung ho to watch to play for them and going back to the players. You have a group of players that really got worse as the year went on. So they're not really dealing look the game against Italy. Which some people say, hey, the US are almost God a tie ago that was maybe the to me the the most startling performance of the bunch Italy had seventy five percent possession. So this is not an enjoyable experience for the players. And if this is this is Michael Parker's. This is what he said. But. Is it legit to that? None of these young players. I get the feeling that. It's if they don't wanna show up is one thing, I imagine playing for the US national team is not a whole lot of fun right now. Because of the way it was being played the past few games. I would love to know what players saying, this will never know. You know that? Well, well, we take a guess what does parkers play? Atlanta where did he play well he played in Denmark Sweden? He played a Columbus Columbus. So it's at in Columbus. So what what players and you England. But there's no New England players on the national team come on my producer just at New England. We're not going to go down. So Atlanta players on the national team. Columbus players on the national team. All right. That have flight take your pick. There you go that you think that's them. Deductive reasoning we'll trap alive. Matt saying I'm just saying I'd love to know which players are saying this because it's an abomination, but how you feel what about the European pays players. The these kids that were kind of given the keys to the team and over the past year. I mean, they weren't giving. They were given a disservice. These kids who have never been the US men's national team all of a sudden see it as a burden, but it's not the national team that you. Results. They can't beat anybody. They so they're second best. I'm just just throwing I know you can't just do it out. I'm telling you why there's duck reasoning. There's gotta be some some reason behind it. I'm just trying to figure it out because this is when I heard this was like, wow, I can't be I even retweeted ammos rewind goes this far gone because that's way down the rabbit hole. That's way down where this is a damaging. This is a bruise. It's going to remain for a bit. That's. I got her stocked. How is that word before in the why used it there? How mind boggling is it that a player doesn't see this as a privilege and honor? And also, this is a job you're getting paid for you can pay extra to go do this, and you still getting paid by your club. Like, how sweet of gig is this you play soccer for a living your national team wants you. And you're saying. I gotta go deal with Dave Saragan..

"So let's talk Gregg Berhalter for a second. I think it's a great hire. Would he be my number one? No, probably not. But that doesn't matter. I still think is a good higher for the US men's national team. He's tactically very bright everybody who speaks of them speaks very very well when it comes to the game. He has the ability to get a lot out of his players. Most of the players. I spoke to that are in the mix for the national team. And I mentioned Gregg Berhalter, they were happy. They like the appointment. He relation with those guys. Correct. Here's here's where I have my questions who's Gregg Berhalter 's coaching staff going to be. This is what I would like to see happen. I don't know of Josh Wolff will accompany him. I played with Joshua. If he was a teammate of mine in Kansas City. He is a very very bright individual a lot of players speak of his influence in Columbus. When he was with the national team for a couple of these friendlies that they've had in the year two thousand eighteen player spoke very very well of him. Some players said he was at least to me that he was the only person in the room that really knew what was going on. Josh Wolff if he wants has a position probably at assume with Columbus as the next head coach if they were smart if not I would love to see Josh Wolff as a number two with the US men's national team. And here's here's what I want with that staff. I want. Gelo, I want the mayor of Hanover who popped over at the end there with the national team when their last friendly's was present. So a guy has credibility up the yin Yang and guys knows a connection to that. Last generation I like it now. Now, you have X national team players that have coaching experience domestic and abroad that have played abroad that offer a wealth of experience in for players to lean on. And also also as the game has evolved. Some of these players as coaches are these people as say not players anymore. That's what I would love to see now. Now, we're soon we're going to turn the page and move forward on this whole process once we all vent and get it out. Then it's going to be get to work. And this is why I want to see him get to work with. That group anyone else? Let's stick around. I think he's a very good goalie coach, I think he was a team of mine as well. Listen. The reality is this is a very very young coaching staff. This is a very very young team. Will you need someone who can relate to these young doesn't have that doesn't have a wealth of experience as a coach? But these Soe's going to need to lean on. Other coaches would different ideas. I think Josh Wolff and Steve Kerr can offer that even though they themselves are inexperienced so to speak. The inexperience doesn't bother me as much because I think there are some coaches who had the playing experience that I can give the benefit of the doubt. I would prefer to have that experience. But it's not something get me too far down on Gregg Berhalter because we've seen so many coaches more also on the club rank who had a good career Gregg Berhalter certainly did. We was a a big time international who had his time in Europe as a player too. So there's a lot of wealth of information and knowledge there, so that's that's good again, the experiences and ideally like to see it you'd like to see the trophies. But he also coached at a team that wasn't really equipped to really. With with the finances, and certainly the distraction of the Precourt situation in Austin that would make it more difficult to in trophies. I'm not gonna make excuses, but it's not the ideal situation. So he's going to go out and look for assistance. And when he does that I tell you what her he's gonna wanna look really good. He's gonna wanna look really good with a made to measure suit which fits better compared to generic off the wreck suits I've seen Greg dresses, great anyway on the solid, but.

"Rain, excuse me, Josie out door Carlos bocanegra, Casey Keller, and Tony Meola for those players are still active, Bradley, Howard, Beazley and alter door. He said he also spoke with several MLS technical directors. Now. This is good. Hey, fine. Talking's good diligence. Yes, sued diligence. That's fine. Paul does a great job of outlining who those people could be. So now, we got to ask the Landon Donovan's. The Bradley's Dempsey's goose is the Beazley's to Howard's. The rain is jurors world Boca's about this process. We know who wasn't interviewed Peter Vermes dot the Martino one got it. A soda is a bit of a mystery. Because Jeff Carlisle says that it's the timing wasn't right. Which makes you scratch your Marshall Marshall task many times and through messages and Quarles Carlos already pretty much blanked, our boy and never responded to to the question. What at least we're getting them where we know. Who wasn't? We know who was it came down to alternately group of eleven and then it was narrowed down to five and into what we're all. Getting the sense is too. And that is Gregg Berhalter and Scott Abida. It's a sense. We're all getting the final two now. Transparency is what we've been harping on for. I don't know how long and US soccer has done this not only to themselves. But to Gregg Berhalter, they've put Gregg Berhalter in the worst possible position. Interesting Gregg Berhalter now because he may have been the most qualified to the begin to begin with with with the requisites that they set forth English speaker knowledge of the American landscape, all these are the things Gregg Berhalter, maybe one of the standout candidates fine. No problem, but you put an X on his back. You've made him a marked man because of this process. The first moment there is difficulty for Gregg Berhalter in this US men's national team, it's going to be magnified by what is now an angry fan base that is looking for blood because of this process, you have made Gregg Berhalter a marked man, it is unfathomable that they can that one Jaber Halder can be involved. In the committee in the hiring process of Ernie Stewart. Then Ernie Stewart hires Gregg Berhalter. Nepotism. Do you know what nepotism is ES? Yes. I do. I think most people. Do you want the definition don't give us a definition? I wish I never had never had that ever the practice among those with power or influence or favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs. Now, we are not accusing Jaber halter. We're not accusing US soccer. But this this has its. It's far of nepotism. And what you're doing? Now is putting Gregg Berhalter in the worst possible position. So this is this is what needs to happen. Now. Max there's going to be in UC. Oh, Dan, set to retire. Okay. Dan Flynn's going to retire. Many are saying Jaber Halder could be in line for the new CEO of CEO of US soccer Cordeiro who this is world by that's a conflict of interest. If that was his world, by the way, Darrow Cordeiro was a partner at Goldman Sachs. He should have no problem picking up the phone and reaching out to somebody and say come make me some money. This is what we want to do here. This is a finance job position. Should have. No problem going outside of US soccer outside specialty. You're right. He literally he can literally open up a cell phone and pick one hundred people. This is his world. This is officer. Exactly, this is this is where Carlos Cordeiro shows us who he really is this move. Okay. Wow. Man. This is interesting. Good stuff. Now. Jaber halter could still be involved in US soccer right now. He's he's he's number two. Powerful man right now. Okay. Believe so he could still be involved in US soccer. But this CEO job should not go to Jaber halter. You don't muddy the waters anymore..

I was in Kansas City for molest Cup conference finals you were in Atlanta. So we had it really well scouted out. Yup. And it was it was a lot of fun. But I wanna bring up I was I was doing a post on Instagram, and I usually do hashtag max and hurt and I actually did at max and hurt and something came up. That was pretty interesting. What came out there was an actual count. It looks like it's two dogs, and they're yorkies. Put it max in her Anders an account for max in Hercules, father and son yorkies. Max Manzo and Hercules Manzo. So the dogs actually have last names too. So I put it in. And it's just opened up a whole new world. There's an actual max out there. It's like the greatest story ever heard. Do you? What if these dogs come up and say, you gotta stop using that name trademark infringement like a little there's a letter with little signed, Paul. I'm not making this up. There is. Free time on your research. Do a search. I don't want to. I don't want to write listen, we have so much again this podcast blows me away. Because I remember when we first started doing because they're going to be weeks where we're going to have nothing to talk about that week is never come that. We never come in this week. Well, maybe a couple of Iraq. We gotta reached a bit. But we have good backup. Hey last week. We talked about boom us and how their crests was the coolest one. I wanna do a top five soccer crests. Would you be into that amount? Why not today? But when we have a slow week, are you so into this? It's cool peop-. I did I did a Twitter thing as who got a thousand answers. You did not get house and got us. I'll find out the tweet. But it was it was maybe two hundred thousand doubt two hundred. It was kind of it had to be around there. I got so many different. It was anywhere from six to two hundred some interesting ones, but we'll see. We'll just think about it. I think I think he'd get it. And so the other thing before we wanna talk Gregg Berhalter has been appointed. That's been a story. We've been we've been following. And then we stopped following because we were which end with it. So he is now in charge you as MS national team, I want to talk a little bit about MLS Cup. And just something that stood out to me with add Lanta and Portland. Making amyloid Cup is the arrival of South American talent on the field on the sideline that his Sean through this season. And probably is the indicator of where this league might be going. So Atlanta Argentine coach Paraguayan playmaker. Venezuelan striker Arjun Tyne support players that played a huge role Portland. Venezuelan coach Argentine playmaker. Former MVP and Arjun Tyne number ten who scores the goal of the season. And you get to see if you're a clue. Club. Where you probably the goal is season scored on LAF's e. Yeah. But that didn't mean anything this goal. Did this goal changed? Their writing Z employee says the game against the galaxy. Didn't mean anything didn't mean anything like this don't start. Don't you? Don't you start with me with this? How it didn't mean? Anything in the big picture of the playoffs. A rivalry and member you guys got eliminated from the Owl's this goal, actually, those three points coulda changed things. Maybe you're right. Maybe they get a little bit higher. Check the standings. But that goal against the flow of play as allowed Portland timbers to book their ticket for Atlanta and make it that was that was the most important goal of the season that that's all right that okay. Is Adelaide appraise it. That's your big news. That's what I want to say that I was just Americans South Americans. We knew it was coming. And now, it's arrived. It wasn't a big.
