Robert Kraft Gives Honest Assessment of Patriots Drafting
"Heard from Robert Kraft yesterday was a man who was completely honest about where the the team is in a lot of different areas. I wouldn't will get into this but I don't think his quarterback comments were Something to really weigh in heavily on but I do think that overall I mean him talking about, you know, the draft specifically the personality just sound thrilled with having to Shell out as much money as he did and he basically admitted that the only reason they had to do that cuz they didn't draft well in recent years and and he committed what a lot of us have said where it's not sustainable to do that. You need the draft to be the lifeblood of your team so that you can do other things like you can't just every three years song ten free agents. It just it it's probably not going to happen be it's not economically feasible. And so I thought it was very refreshing for Robert to to talk to the assemblage yesterday and and really be honest and I think you know in judging from the comments at Boston Sports Journal com from my column off of this press conference wage. Think on a whole I thought the Patriots the Patriots fans reacted very well to it that are really like, okay. Well, at least now we know that the person in charge realizes is a isn't happy about it called last season horrible and B thinks that the team has made correction and is moving in the right direction. That's all anybody ever wanted to to hear from anybody at at one page place and they heard it from Craft and I think it made Patriot Nation breathe a little bit easier. Not that they weren't confident in Bill Belichick rebounding in any event, but I just think it reinforced that. All right. Well, we're still the Patriots thought we had a we had an off-year didn't go well we're going to correct things were going to get things back on track.
Kraft Admits Patriots Are Not Perfect
"Kraft speaking some truth Greg about the 2020 season and how the team got to this point. Yeah, I thought it was really refreshing Nick. I thought that you know, look the only person I understand how the Patriots are set up and I don't disagree with the way the Patriots are set up that page during the football season bills the one who talks for the football organization and I get it. I don't disagree with it, but it's a little bit problematic when off season is going down the tubes and you're not getting any real answers from the chief executive of the football team like this past season with Belichick. He basically deflected everything off at defensive about any questions. Look he's in charge of the team. I understand pointed comments about say there. Their inability to draft. Well the past couple of years wouldn't exactly reflect. Well on the players, he's currently trying to coach but there is a way to say what everybody wants said without saying it and Bill just decides to do things the quickest way possible the easy way possible. I understand why he does it I'm not going to I'm not criticizing him for it. But it it does cause problems when the team looks like it's floundering off where we going. What is the direction things like that? And no one's answering any questions directly and what I heard from Robert Kraft yesterday was a man who was completely honest about where the the team is in a lot of different areas.

But it wasn't. It was fall. So the special prosecutor agree, totally agree. It's great to have you. Thanks for having me. So we've been told let me go back to the top of the hour talking about the conference in London focused on Facebook. And among the big concern. CEO Mark Zuckerberg wasn't there. What's your reaction to that? I think that his failure took your now several times before the European. It's actually in London has been marked in that country. And I think that it led to quite a backlash against ten. And what broadly Facebook it seen as sort of a lack of transparency at a time. When the company is really pushing this idea that they're trying to be transparent. Right. Your reporting on Facebook earlier this month that we've made reference to it the the the major takeaway that that Facebook knew about Russian interference in the two thousand sixteen election and fail to counter it. How is Facebook responded to to this major investigation by the New York Times? Well, the Nishel response was to not much of anything. I'll note that we spoke to. Facebook for several weeks with article came out. We gave them lots of information about what we're going to publish it. May they chose not to really comment and not make executive available to after the story came out quite a few days after they started to comment, and I think their first response was to call her story inaccurate. But the things we pointed to ABC inaccurate would not think we've got in our story, and they've since kind of backtracked bit by bit by bit until the until the very eve of thanksgiving when they finally came out with a statement at bidding what was in our story. And I only hear that the headline of our story talked about how Facebook's policy was to deny and deflect, and that's that's what they've done here. I mean, do you have a perspective on that from someone who was in the inside at one point? Well, I think that it's a it's no. Different from any other company in the valley. There there is a tremendous pressure on policy on the policy team and other policy teams to to try to understand the public sentiment and then craft communication strategy and policy strategy that can raise the company's interests and anyone working for the companies working for the company in other words, working for the for the commercial interests of the company, and it's it's not their job to think about what's in the in the interests of the the reader of the New York Times or or the public Sharon define standby. Stafford made Keith rose is win for them in that game. And they've been very good on thanksgiving lately with Africa. I think they've won five of six if that means anything which I don't really other than that. They have a good quarterback. And that they're at home on on a short week. But I don't I don't care if chase Daniel starts or not. I'm still going to lock this game up for the bears. And I was surprised that lines are going to be favored if chase. Daniel starts this game. Which I totally I locked the bears up last week. And I'm gonna do something that west earlier in the year, I'm gonna follow in Greg's footsteps here. But following my own split steps from a week ago. I don't know about locks you. I mean, your ride in with Greg who's flirting with infamy, foreign sweat. I like to do with the locks is not have them involved in my Sunday, at least before the show because I get to very I'm very irate when I lose. So at least I can deal with that alone on thanksgiving Khalil Mack is back to what he was before the ankle injury. And that is he is he destroys game plans. He is that guy. I mean, Aaron Donald I think is Serge into the favourite for defensive player of the year. But MAC, maybe with a close a strong finish. I don't think he could rule him out either. He's he's a force. No. And this lions offensive line's been up and down, especially the right tackle, Rick Wagner. He put MAC over there on him. They're going to struggle. Meanwhile, like long is out as been out for a while. And we don't even notice we haven't even mentioned it on the show. One of the best guards football on the bears bears are getting done pretty well. I just don't feel like Chicago to the point of trusting their defense one of the few that you can they don't have big letdown games. Only one I can write their average margin of defeat is the second lowest in the league do not they don't suddenly get wiped out by salad who they played pretty easy. Schedule had the easiest maybe the easiest scheduling football against posing. Offenses the one quality offense. They played the patriots. They did a solid job. Not great score was misleading because the special lines on the flip side of beaten some good teams, but they've lost some bad ones..

"Six o'clock in the morning, at least in the bible or the city of New York chaos has transpired as the scanning machines. It was supposed to be state of the art to replace Don dinosaur machines, a breaking down left, right every which way because of the complicated. Ballot. Created by the New York City board of elections say knew it was defective. They advertise shit is such they told you there would be problems and Rita. I'll talk about chaos Shing kadarshian momentarily. But what was it like in your naked the woods? Well, you know, what I had to redo its two pages as you know, all too. Well, and of course, your your wonderful wife, Nancy who was running for attorney general, she's filed suit against this specific reason because it's two pages. And the irony of it all when I voted Curtis. First of all, I'm happy to say that it was packed at the voting place. I am such a big believer. And getting out and voting. I actually tweeted out a picture of with the I voted sticker and so forth. But in my case, it wasn't the second page that was a hassle. I had to redo the first page and put it in over and over again. Finally, they gave me a new first page, but it just shows how much of a hassle and how complicated it is. But I am happy to see that the lines are long. The polling people told me also Curtis that they are seeing about a thirty to forty percent increase. And I think that that's the upside the negative is that ballot is a hassle and the weather. The weather is bad. No matter where you look in the east coast Carter New York City, obviously rain all day. Albany rain all day. Buffalo rain all day. And in most of the boroughs and the suburban areas, likewise, inclement, weather and makes you shady to yourself. Why don't we have early voting? Why can't we be like so many other states where you have ten days to a weeks? She can pick. Day, especially on the weekend. When you may not be as hectic in terms of your personal and professional responsibilities as you are in the mid week when you are working many people working today, it's gotta be a hassle to get to the polling location. If they weren't already there this morning because of the weather because of all the traffic congestion the bed. Mass transit a W fodder. Everyone is where high atop Madison Square Garden in east great facilities provided to us in order to do this broadcast. All of you at nj died dot com. And by the way, we have a blockbuster show because in New Jersey, they do get to do early voting as you point out in New York. We don't have a Connecticut. We don't have it everybody. We got an amazing election day show here on Curtis. And Cosby we have Mark Molinaro. He is coming up at twelve thirty. We've got shell Farley. At one o'clock. We got Bob Hubin at one thirty five, and we got Dan Donovan coming up also at two thirty so everybody, you wanna make sure that you stay tuned. And we have the Tri state covered here on Curtis and Cosby today, but think of all the candidates who've run for years, some more some of smashed through our own personal money some of the door to door. Maybe you liked him. Maybe it didn't like him. But many of them work hard. They have modeling tears. They had professional staff they've dedicated their life. They've given a year of their life for the candidate who is running for a specific office. She could be local assembly a state Senate. It could be a statewide seat. It could be a federal see the point being is. It's bad weather today. Is that fair to all of them who tried so hard to get you to vote, even if you aren't even going to vote for their candidate dead on daylight today was stuck in Connecticut in New York, and in Pennsylvania only having this day this day only vote New Jersey, they'll send you ballots, but you have to request it. So it's really not like we have seen in a lot of other states where the early voting entitled cheated Cody polling location. And actually stand on line as we've seen lines around the block of enrage, Democrats and Trumpers and Trump ads saying, oh, no. You're not going to shock the president. Because we know the dishes really amid term vote about the Trump presidency, and we're stuck with this. Our number's one eight hundred eight four eight WABC. Let me tell you about chaos, and by the way, everybody I do want to hear from you two. What did you see at the polling places to did you see long lines on because I was happy to see even with all the crazy weather Curtis. That people were still coming out. They were passionate people giving each other the thumbs up. I'm excited that there's an energy here. But I agree with you. If there was absentee ballot abode in which there is in so many places in the country. I mean, there's there have been it's over thirty five million people have voted across America think about how much of an impact that could even have in New York. Like you said, so they wouldn't have to stand out pouring rain. But I want to hear from you folks to what are you seeing at the polling places? Around the tri-state area. Are you seeing chaos or are you seeing big lines? Like, I it's one eight hundred eight four eight nine two two two one eight hundred eight four eight nine two two two and Curtis. Also, I'm going to give you kudos because you have been working so hard for the Reform Party for all the different candidates. Also, your wonderful wife, Nancy sleeping and kudos to both of you guys. Replacing the good fight people haven't voted yet. And the New York state reg had that here the way you reward that hard work is you vote the straight Reform Party ticket starting with Molinaro for governor. And on Dow, but I will tell you this lawsuit against the city board of elections, many of the points that we have made unfortunately have come to. And we're not even through two-thirds. We'd have two thirds of a day of votes to go because remember in New York City. The election sights will close at nine o'clock in jersey, they'll close at eight, but whether you're in eastern, Pennsylvania east, and and all those other towns off your. We're in Stamford, Connecticut. And all those towns, eight o'clock, by the way, those are all eight o'clock New York nine o'clock throughout New York state, especially the mid Hudson valley throughout New Jersey where you can pick us up. Just give us a call. Let us know what's happening out there. But I will tell you I arrived at my polling location economic Brooklyn where I went to school many years ago. PS one fourteen wasn't a lot of people but more than normal than you would expect midterm election. So I filled out my two page ballot. Which was all connected it I you get vertical. No matter how politically astute. You all the way it's laid out in New York City. That's not true of other places. But in New York City, you got a little your eyes. Go through a maze. You end up with vertical, by the way. I on Curtis. I've ever pulled out glasses. 'cause I am I pretty good Eissa. You've never seen glasses. I like actually ask the person next to me. I'm like could I borrow a pair of glasses? Because exactly you couldn't say. And look this hurts all parties. This hurts the big parties, the Democrats she public and smaller parties and all the races. So on there. I'd fill out the ballot. I double check it. And then I give it to the polling person they show you gotta put it through the scanner. You gotta I hear it. I tear it tear no problems. I put it into the machine scanner and the scanner doesn't give a positive or a negative response to the poll watcher. So I say that the poll watcher. Well, it's my vote counted saying, I'm not sure. So I'm going to give you an affidavit. No, no, no. You didn't say if it boat is see mine, actually, it showed mine showed I told you the second page went through but the first page, but it said this page was approved it didn't. And so they wanted to give me an affidavit and action valid I said, but I'm not absent I said, I'm not going anywhere. So Hooton hollering and they're getting upset and had three cops. They want nothing to do with it. And. And I demand to see a voting inspector from the New York City board of elections, which I knew would never come. And so I keep Yellen. So they're Trinidadians the the trainees and there are Beijing's from Barbados, shake, quiet Tari. Oh, okay. Make sure they were not a lot of West Indians. Snow the Joe MAKIN stay following because they love to argue. They're like Dominicans and Italian, you know, screaming and hollering. So now all of a sudden in order to calm, everyone down because they see on leader of the pack. They give me an additional ballot illegal. I fill out the additional ballot. I separated it goes into the machine for a second time. This one clearly says it's been accepted. Now, if both those votes voted then committed a crime, I could go to jail, but I would love to see this one you're going to send me to jail for the mistake of the board of elections made and secondarily in a situation like this. You say to yourself how many other machines at a laid out and not working now. And we find out as we survey around the city that these scanning machines breaking down every which way do you know, what happened with me? I told you the second page went through on mine. The I did not. So then I had to go to the guy. So this is what really infuriated me I had a different experience. The guy took out my mart vote my ballot. And basically had it out there. I grabbed the paper and flipped it over. There is a huge pile of people standing there. You're not supposed to see who you voted for or what you voted for. They're is my ballot flipped upside down. You can see everyone to see I turned it over. I said, sir. Don't ever do that to me don't do to someone. If you go to Kurdish in Cosby, the Facebook page, Kurdish and Cosby, you can see that I broke the law a second time in taking a selfie of my vote. You know, what I knew you were gonna do that. In fact, I was about to do somewhere close to that. And then I said, no, no, no, I'm not gonna break. Three commssion the shaky nine precinct. I say go ahead. Lock me up. You're not supposed to take selfies. And they said this guy is local. He's a crazy person. I could've told them that Curtis. Let's go. Let's go to Greg who's calling from Brooklyn. Welcome to Kurdish and Rita. Cosby here WABC, Greg. Hi, greg. Hi, thanks for taking my call. I went up to our polling station if at ten thirty this morning and every single machine was broken. And they made us drop our our sheet into the box. So that dropped inside the machine even though scanning them now, I own a field service tech company. And I find it hard to believe that none of the machines worked. Yeah. That where where exactly were you voting Greg because that's interesting to know where were you sixty seven th street and fourth avenue at the highschool telecommunications. That's what did they say. He's going to happen with your votes while they said, well just sliding in here to the box into the bottom line. And and we'll scan them later. Yeah. By the way, that's what happened to me. Last go round. I was not comfortable with that. That's why I made sure that they actually put I was worried they were going to put my first page, which is of course, you know, governor Lieutenant governor all the major congress. There's a lot of key ones on that goes Spain. I gotta tell you, Greg. It is such Michigan. And they told US Fish and events. That's why our party here in New York Reform Party was you only wanted to take the board of elections in New York City to court the rest of the parties for too. Chicken. They were saying, well, we don't want to within the board of elections because we have so much other business with them know is interesting Curtis when I was tearing it apart because we have talked so much about it. I remember thinking, okay. I gotta do a clean. There was almost so much pressure. Like, I felt like my hands were shaking when I was separating page one and page too. Because all I could imagine was a bunching up. Well, let's go to Andrew's calling from New Jersey welcomed the Kurdish and Rita. Cosby here WABC, Andy. Hey, how are you? What happened with you? Andy. Well, you know, New Jersey where we didn't have any problems voting. But I saw the news with all. Machines breaking down in New York, and it is just archaic. And I think about how you vote and how you fill out your ballot. It is very much different than how you fill out a lottery ticket about how the system is very few problems with that..

"Retha Franklin if you're just tuning in and, you don't know we lost. Earlier this, morning she is Yeah and think about it pancreatic cancer, was the. Cause. I, heard Steve. Grzanich report. That I didn't know that seventy six. Is not. Old enough just really isn't yeah I know and if anyone who is a singer male or female does not mention her as an inspiration they're lying right oh, my God I know I know, I remember as a kid. All right so this would have been in the late, sixties and early seventies when there. Was a TV show on TV. Special or anything where where there was music involved. Even though, I was a kid I was? A little, kid I knew that. If Aretha Franklin was part of it it was going to be good it was going. To be, entertaining she just had this incredible energy at all times and boy could, she belt? Out a song I mean. You just heard her she just had the ability to just make song her own and make it so great and boy it said that she's. No longer going to be able to do that, isn't it it really is. A loss For all of us and you think, about it? You're mentioning a little kid Anyone. Who heard Aretha. Franklin even if that wasn't, your musical style you were awestruck, that's the thing it, wasn't my, musical style but you couldn't beauty of I I was floored by you know she would just she would just come, out and give it her all every time and she was just so. Good and it got sad toward the end when she couldn't do it anymore she is still performed in recent years and I can't imagine how frustrating it must have been for her to know that she just couldn't do it the way she used to Jewish saying. With. The with the? Pope, or. For the pope when. He was in Philadelphia lash, remember that Steve yeah yeah And all the heavy hitters out and John Paul McCartney everybody. Paying tribute on Twitter? This, morning It's a loss That say a lot when when the other greats have, show, business, say yeah we've we've done anything we can possibly do. In show, business but boy we hold her in. Such high esteem, you mentioned Elton John and Paul McCartney for those guys to. Go the now now we've lost a. Giant proves it we've, lost, a giant very. Very sad Elton John said the loss of Aretha Franklin is a blow for everybody who loves real music music, from the heart the soul. And the church her. Voice was unique her. Piano playing underrated she was one of. My favorite pianist Oh yeah yeah I, kind, of forgot about. Her piano playing because you've just focused on that end Djelic voice right right with the power to to keep, twenty cities going I mean. Power in that voice. Just unmistakable much energy. So would you agree with me that There are. Some performers, where as time, goes on somebody else comes. Up and you go they are. The, new. Blank. Blank blank who is there a new Aretha Franklin is there a modern day Aretha Franklin because. No, one's. Coming to mind for me that is a great. Question I, mean you have singer Adele has, a great. Voice the closest I can think of Kelly Clarkson can really. Belt she's awesome comparison that well but I mean it's been hot her league. No. It depends on how you measure you can't measure it by today because, we'd have to look at you know thirty years down the road down the. Road yeah and the other thing is you know, Franklin was she was a cultural influence, or political influence she sang, it king's, funeral she she was there for so. Much of our history from, the sixties on right and I don't think that there. Is a musician or someone. In entertainment, who has that, sort of influence or was. Witness the way she was right A package whereas you know beautiful voiced women right now Kelly Clarkson's great Adele, is, great but, there's not that whole package Yeah I. Know and I'm sorry. I even, though, they can belt it out it's nothing like this I'm sorry I we, should ask Greg cut that when. We talked to him later, on, because that is a great question Bill someone from eight one five pointing out how. Ironic, it is that she and Presley, died. On the same day yeah they, can't Queen king quite, right right and he died on the throne which always, throws me, and that's. Where. I was when, I thought of Elvis this morning That's my little tribute sixteen Respectful. Right up until, then another another text says how great she was in the blues brothers and she was she was one of the, bright spots in the. Movie the blues brothers. Reintroduction I think definitely wise it really was because for a new generation of people who may have heard of her or kind of casually knew what she could do. Watching her in, the, blues. Brothers you go oh wow? Can she ever do it so you're absolutely right that that was probably the introduction to a. Whole, new generation of fans unfortunately it brought, us who's. Zoom in who or whatever But, there's that Bill I would say this is a text from, seven to eight. Wendy and Bill I would say that Mary j. Blige is very close and they, have collaborated together Mariah Carey also, not too shabby but Mary really crossed. The cultural line she'll be an epic for generations to. Come close still it's, not the same A couple people suggesting Jennifer Hudson again closed seeing again and tell you measure you're, looking at the voice I'm looking, at the influence and maybe it's beyond. Say would be oh someone who that's interest area at. Big moment that's interesting Couple said that Whitney Houston would've been. That person I went amazing see the comparison but again it's it's it's not. The same, because her life was such a right I mean. That shouldn't you know disqualify, her for her ability she had a great voice but and she it Aretha just encompass the feeling really think of anyone who, does? Best respect just like the song I. Mean. Right you know, who could not respect her yeah sometimes with Whitney we had issues. Because of. Bobby Brown. Because of the side shows I know all right so we got Greg Who great music. Critic further Chicago Tribune and he'll be on later. On to talk of Aretha Franklin and for? Life and her career but jasmine there. Was another author. That we looked, into getting, we knew we had a couple of days lead time that Aretha Franklin. Was not, doing well so behind the scenes we said we. Should really find somebody to, talk about her and there's a biographer who wrote a book about her in two thousand fourteen but even though she. Collaborated on, this? Book she was not pleased with it. She. Said that there, were too many things divulged do you know specifically jasmine what it. Was she. Wasn't happy. With about the book I. Think it was the last so they collaborated on. Another book the first book that they wrote? Together and I forget the guy's name Let, me get it really I just wonder, what it was because she she spent considerable amount of time with this author chiseling out her, storyline and then once the book. Was published she was very upset that certain things were put in the book that she. Wasn't comfortable with but it was a strange. Collaboration so it is. Strange if she. Gave, information and then ended up not being pleased with I'm not. Sure exactly what went down there his name was David. Ritz, David Ritz yeah, so I'm not sure exactly what was put, you don't know, it doesn't say exactly what she was displeased about her well according to her that in a first book they, wrote together it was great but the. Second book he kind of took experts that she didn't want in? That book into the second book and she was really upset about that how does somebody do that if you're working on a project together Stand I have no idea don't you know you have to say off the record which I, say on a lot of a lot. Of circumstances off the record? Not for air shows up doesn't it But you. Have to honor the. Half tonner it it's the unwritten law all right we'll, take a quick break and then there's more discussion on this and other things, it's been one year WGN, tomorrow night.

"I disfigure dolphins news let's bring his out report is out there not a huge surprise from the miami herald julius thomas and lawrence timmons will be released by the miami dolphins this will open up some cap space in miami to either keep dervis lander make some other moves there's another part of their report that consumer could be a post june 1st release he is scheduled to have the third highest cap it in the nfl behind garoppolo in stafford this year twenty six point one million that's incredible that's the thing all these capspace figures were so many teams have a ton of capspace that's even before most teams make all these cut so in the end the dolphins if they wanted to keep jarvis landi for instance should have plenty of right away the post peyton manning julius thomas come back to us he got he paint man and got a lot of people pay gylys thomas near the taba list that was that breaking news worthy that's what's going on i think when you're on the dolphin says oh what other bit adopted zoos when he throughout the break you're expecting some big i think that it was appropriate placement whether or not it was break here that i wanted on sale here are the types of players when they actually sign those contracts that we would have had his second or third in the news like that actually mattered but now they did it deserve a place in the show absolutely deserve the drop you don't appreciate greg's debate incrementally lowering the standard for breaking news on i don't like that we ran a ladder was yes braga news over the year the phrasing there is a little harsh but just i wanted to cut a put it out there for debate okay let the listeners decide please way in lake rag without your comments they're not the rest of his key anyway movie i drew brees he is scheduled to be a free agent i think a lot of people almost everybody expects a deal with the saints the everybody even greg who's saying maybe the could be some.

"Greg who stinks in new york loosing some why all in the young yet only the wrong way my teens thinks that i actually loved it i am pleasure disappointed weekin weekout i don't wanna win and actually of being successful and making me happy i root criminal lose with stay in the game and by golly gee wiz we're doing the bank of job that it was greg if you're taking who do you want to get in all of this what's four well what's not saying thank you because i do want to be competitive it's not about taking but realistically hockey i can't even fair wonderful quarterback anymore because i don't think that's the route rather go you gotta get a free agent quarterback is never has there been so many free agent quarterbacks who actually good to have decent available so why take a chance to the rookie when you can get established vet and possibly move on from there drag i love that call that was that was incredible and that's why i didn't i disagree with gregg as well to because i i believe it that's the point of view of the jet you're not just one player away so if you're woah player away from gin there yeah absolutely you go grab a free agents they now we're going to make our move i don't think the jets or a player away i think there three or four players away and the only way you can get three or four players away and make that move is by a by striking a rich with the rookie quarterback having him underneath your nails for the next couple of years at a low salary cap dollar amount it and be able to go to in spend money on the positions you truly nate i respect that opinion on it the only thing i'd say is that if you can trade high pick for a bounty of picks and you can go out and and sort of continued suitability maybe maybe a ally finds a second life to change in a helmet out of just be ironic to see jets made that they ends plates only got to watch jets man's have to decide if they're going to root for eli would be the though pondering hit ob eli ally in denver next year just can't we've got to happen oh my god and kirk cousins injected with.
