"Win in decades like. That's how big of an upset it would be at this point a motivated chiefs team. That feels like they were embarrassed. That's a scary thought. I think twenty twenty one is just going to be another repeat. It's just a matter of how many wins the chiefs. Exactly get this year again out of seventeen this time around. How about you lewis. Who consider the biggest threat to that machine. Built in case yeah. I'm going to say it's going to be buffalo when you talk about motivation. Jeff just alluded to i think. The buffalo bills are motivated as well. Not just the players on the football team. I think the coaching staff is well. Brian daboll truly believes he should have been a head coach this year and he was leslie. Frazier head coat. And he's not so they have a lot of continuity on both the staff and with this football team overall. I think the key for buffalo. Is this just going to be better. This your office is gonna take it to an even higher level on. That sounds hard to believe. But i think take it to a higher level. I think the the key for this football team to really get over a hump or the two young players that they drafted in the first and second round in greg russo carlos. Basham the defensive lineman from miami and from wake forest respectively if those two guys pan out and they can rush the passer. Buffalo will give kansas city everything that they don't want and they have c. championship. Possibly make it to the super bowl. Russo was second in the country and sack two years ago behind chase. Gung didn't play last year. How about you sam acho. Who do you consider to be the biggest threat to kansas city. Well this is about the short term threat and a long-term i'm taking the l. a. chargers. But here's why. Nobody's talking about brandon staley and what he's doing in. La we talk about these rookie coaches and what they're doing not talking about him. No one's talking about about. I sent her. We're not talking about joey. Bosa side and derwin. James so i think the la chargers are going to be at threat. Maybe this year if they get together next year and the afc west down the line you gotta wash out for la. I like it a lot. I think they are building something. They're based on the fact that they're in the same division. I think that there is a an element of threat there to kansas city. I'm buying into the hype guys. I'm going to go with the cleveland browns. I saw this team go toe to toe with kansas city last year. I i'm buying into the quarterback. I think baker mayfield is a perfect fit. I do think they do all the things he does. Well and they deemphasize things. That are not his strength. The not can't get better by getting odell beckham junior back that needs to work out. They've made big additions. The defensive side. I'm buying in. I know it's been about a trillion years but i'm buying in to the cleveland browns and i think they are the team that's going to give kansas city a run for their now. There's one other thing. I wanted to bring up here and i want to let you all chime in other so when when the list came out. This is jeremy fowler's poll again. He's pulling all the different executives and coaches and scouts and players in the nfl. And they list the top ten quarterbacks in the league and as you looked at that list you and i jeff darlington had the same exact thought. I'll let you give it. What was the first thing you thought when you saw that top ten was. Did brian hill retire from football. Like the guy has led the league in passer rating the last two years. He's offense with the tennessee. Titans is leading the league in yards per game yards per play as well and i know people say well. Derrick henry guess what derrick henry exploded once tannehill became the starter when marietta was starting to in the league. Look.

"But I do think that The indication is since he's going to be made available tomorrow, along with Josh Allen, that that means that, you know they're gonna heat they're set for him to be here. He's here. Maybe already I would guess. And on top of that just kind of get it out of the way. He hasn't talked to the media in quite a while. Obviously there's gonna be a lot of people asking questions. Let's just get this done. And you know the bills. They've done that before. I remember a couple years ago, there was something going out with the Shawn McCoy boom. They made them available pretty early on in training camp, and then it was over with, so You know, I think that that's kind of the strategy here of your PR. How big a deal is to delay in your mind. I think he's a big deal because of how the defense works. The defense is not predicated upon star players and never has, but they do have star players. They have a have true, devious white. Obviously, we know how Good. Jordan. Boyer is and Michael. Hi it is and you know together, but even them, you know, they're better together. Maybe then they are individually They have they signed, resigned. Matt Milano. They have good players, but This defense even going back to Sean McDermott stays in Carolina. Sure, they might have a guy like Luke quickly, but they really are. Defense that has to have everybody kind of working in unison. You always hear Sean McDermott referred to team defense team defense. That's what this is and Starla to lay the position he plays. The job he does and how he does it. Is vital to team defense. I think Ed Oliver really was hurt last year without having star next to him, And I think more than anything, Tremaine Edmunds might have been hurt. Even Matt Milano, but especially Tremaine Edmunds without having Starla tool in front of him, because this defense is predicated among certain people doing certain roles to help others and without a guy like him that has his skill set and You know, he he's the target of some criticism by bills fans, but he does his job well, and when he's doing his job really well, all of those other parts fall into place a lot easier. So he didn't play at all last year, and he's not, of course, the only one there guys all over the league who took 2020 off given that option. That will be some of the questioning here to with respect to latieule individually and just sort of the whole idea, Thinking of how on Friday show I had Kevin pain in from Roda wire, and it was Talking about rookies for fantasy draft on Saturday and he got to Jamaar Chase and you made a point about how like it's a little bit more of an unknown when it comes when you're talking about a guy that skipped last year. How do you feel about that? Like do you think It's just, you know, is that is that a thing that you're going to be thinking about? I think it could be a thing sale where If a guy struggles people will use That To explain it, but it doesn't have to be. You know, it doesn't have to be right. 100% and I do think it's got to be a question because, Mike, I think everybody would be different and how they do recover. Come back. You know what they were doing in the off season. I don't view this really. Any different than I would the Greg Russo situation. Gregor So didn't play in college and the Bills had to do a lot of Intel on Greg Russo prior to 2020, and then say, Well, he hasn't played football in a couple of years. And then he goes and it doesn't have necessarily the pro day and you think is that because what was he doing in his time off and you have to do Got a lot of investigative work there and to make sure now this is your player. He's been with you. He's been with Sean McDermott even longer than that. They know him in Brandon Beane, so I think they could have a better handle than it would in a guy like Greg Russo. Those questions are going to come up. What you've been doing is you've been working out. What was he doing during? You know the season last year. The other part is They may already know that maybe they were in contact with him during 2020. And, you know, getting an update asking every once a while. How you feeling? How you doing, You know? Hey, you can't wait to get you back next year. Whatever it is. They're going to have to have some idea, at least of the level of shape that he's in. You know his size, obviously, like we just talked about people questioning that how he's going to fit in so But Yep, if he struggles, if any of these guys struggle when they come back from opting out Think the low hanging fruit for most people is going to be. Well, That's what happens when you sit out a year, but it doesn't have to be. It could just be. The guy could just be struggling for a lot of other reasons. Who knows? Yeah, I'm gonna have to remember to use if a guy struggling that played I'm gonna have to remember to use that. Probably worn out. Yeah, you should have taken last year. Exactly exactly. He'd be he'd be sharper. Sal carpaccio along on the west. Her hotline like show up in the Bulldog Bulldog is off today. By the way, are are these still like, zoom calls, or are we getting Are you going to be able to Do you know yet? Like during the season or training camp, Okay. Still zoom as far as I know. Um, yeah, they're the NFL hasn't really changed any protocols as far as contact with players and media and All those kinds of things. So you know, I know there's been a lot of talk about it. It's one of the things that happened when you know the bills announced that they weren't going to go to ST John Fisher, and a lot of people started asking..

"More steps up pressure comes knocking the football to fumble and looks like Keynes jumped on top of it. That was Gregory Russo, who, as I mentioned earlier complaint D'Andre he's playing inside. He lined up over the center on that one, forced that fumble and recovered it. We'll talk more about the Bills first round draft pick in just a moment, by the way on the draft, congratulations to the SEC. Still the King's In fact, they broke their own record for most players selected in the NFL draft in a given year. 65 players from SEC schools were taken in this draft. The previous mark 64 held by the S E. C. In 2019 previous mark to that 63 held by the SEC, so they're really good at Alabama has had 51 players selected over the last five drafts. Sir. But Gregory Russo is who we're talking about. And to our west. Her outline. We will go because we're joined. By Todd Stroud, Senior football advisor for the University of Miami in 2019. He was at that point coaching the defensive line. So position coach for Greg Russo Todd, It's Howard and Jeremy here in Buffalo. Good morning. Thanks for coming on with us today. Good morning. Thank you. Great to be here. So I guess what I'd like to start with your coaching experience with Greg. What stood out as you look back? What are some of the things you think about when you had a chance to work in particular with Greg Russo? Oh, golly, you know, just first of all, just from a character standpoint, just Ah, wonderful kid. You know when the 99% tiles for his character leadership qualities all those things Red Coming out, obviously was a safety slash wide receiver in high school. Big, tall, lanky guy in high school, um, kind of fit all the attributes to be a great defensive and, you know, great linear speed coming out of high school length all those things Attentional again a lot of weight. You know, Coach Diaz saw that before I arrived here is the defensive line coach and they signed him. He had his freshman year where he got injured. You know, real bad. He had a lower leg injury after a couple bowl games and set out and I was lucky Enoughto. Slide in there in 2019 get a chance to coach him. And just what a unbelievable amount of progress you made during that calendar year at 15.5 stats sacks. Actually only started Records of the season. You know, he started as a back up. He had a senior in front of them and just got better and better and better and more productive as the season went on, just Has all the great attributes that had a great defensive end, you know, possesses. Okay, So what are those great attributes that he possesses? He has great, great linear speed. You know, we ran a sub 47 40 it around £260. He's 67. His wingspan is about 83 a half inches. He's got big, heavy hands. He uses his hands. Well, his strong at the point of attack. Hey, he did it from every position on the defensive line that one year, you know, he played some three technique. He played defensive end He dropped into coverage. Played knows Garden or three down front had a knack for rushing as a nose guard. Just you know, a complete guy and, you know, obviously opted out, so he's gonna have to knock the rust off and get coached up again on get his fundamentals in line, But I think his upside is Is probably as big as any available player in the draft. I was curious if you could talk a little bit more. You mentioned a moment ago about how much he developed in that one season and I was wondering, you know you have. You don't have a lot of reps in in terms of that position. He was limited a defensive line As you mentioned coming into the University of Miami. He only plays one full season. What is he, like in terms of Coach ability learning curve because he was really doing a lot of learning of that position. Right and again, That's gonna be a work in progress, but he's very intelligent. He processes very quickly from the film room to the field. He's not a high rep guy. He gets it. He's very high intelligence. And he takes the coaching role. Well, he could be coached hard. He understands it. He loves the game. He wants to get better. And he wants to please. And if the if you have any He has. He has a great motor. You know, he'll play hard every snap. And if you have those qualities, and you have his physical size, you got a winner his length. He's long and the bills had mentioned that when they were talking about some of things they liked about Greg. How much of a factor? Yeah, you know, you talk about speed bend all these different things, countermoves. What about his length coach in terms of how much that is a factor in his overall game. Oh, I think it makes him It obviously creates separation. You know, between offensive blockers and when you're rushing the passer link this nothing you know, but in advantage You know, and it just creates more separation between him and blockers. You know, as he gets better with his hands and develops a repertoire that he feels comfortable with. You know what? That league in rushing against good people, I think When he goes to the process and learning curve. I think that, uh, you'll be a winner with without a doubt, but length is a key to the position and also a kid that moves as well as he does for a size. You know he can. He can make a lot of effort, Sex and in slip blocks late on, do some things that shorter guys can't do to get tied up with blocks were with with Todd Stroud from the University of Miami coached he was the D line coach in 2019. What about how you used him in your pass rush packages Because I think again, Brandon being the Bills GM..

"Yeah, I was watching Arsenal, Newcastle and they were showing scenes from Old Trafford and I did. I did think like, you know, maybe maybe put the game that's happening on had split screen. Did they? Really? Yeah. I'm here. Watch Arsenal guys anyway, flipped out of the race. Um, be either postpone the game. It's just it's ah. Fans of those clubs and it's not just Manchester United. And there's a protest that Arsenal that probably is has been a Liverpool. How about Maybe it was who I'm sorry. Some. I think it's Liverpool. Somebody who is the grandson of Ah, legend from Liverpool. I'm pretty sure ask that his grandfather statue be taken down. Oh, my goodness. He said he wouldn't want to be here for this malarkey basic, but they crushed the league right. It's Zita Super League. But it's just it's about you know what what's happened to those clubs and, um, whatever you know, It's one thing I guess toe raise up as a fan base and crush a Super League. I guess it's another to actually force an ownership group to self Sally team. It's tough work. I don't know. Yeah, that's what I was curious about. I don't know that it's ever Which I think of an example here. We're a fan base was so outraged that I got to the point where someone sold the team because the fans were unhappy. You know, I mean, I didn't have what? I don't have an example of it, but I thought that was really fascinating. We're talking about the Bills draft. What do you think of the class? And what do you do about the fifth year option for Tremaine? Edmund's those sandals You wanna bring up this 0.28 All three old 5 58 85 52 5 58 coming about 9 30. We will be chatting with Todd Stroud. He is the senior football advisor for the U, But in 2019, he was their defensive line coach, So he was the position coach for Greg Russo will find out a little bit more about the Bills. "Get ready to play is huge, and there's the guy we've been talking about Quinn miners From Wisconsin Whitewater. He is a really good run blocker don't know if he can translate to the pros, but he's gonna be playing inside, so we'll be able to get a little help. So that and two players that I like Steve or at the bottom of the list that Orrin Esty viewers are seeing. The Texas tackle Sam Cause me on the offensive tackle from Northern Iowa. Spencer Brown. There's another guy, Northern Iowa season canceled FCS. And he gets an invite to the senior bowl and kills. It s so he's now in the conversation. I think late day too early day three and the kid is an absolute giant. Six, FT seven Six FT. 8 £314 primarily a right tackle little stiff in the hips, but he bends, okay. There were run first offensive Northern Iowa so not much past pro work to review their long athlete. Long tour so long legs long arms, So the speed rushers sometimes can get the better of him. Change of direction. Guys pose problems. What of the bills want on the edge? Do they want an athlete? They want a giant human being that could just get hands on people and steer him around the pocket. But Spencer Brown, tenacious player looks to find extra work. He's kind of in that feisty Feliciano mold. The thing I like about cause me We're gonna ask Greg Cosell in our number three of the show about some of these guys for more in depth. Look at them cause me is an athlete. He's got good feet that keep moving. Even after he's initially engaged. I like the way he resets his hands and pass pro plays through the whistle loves to finish, whether it's run game or pass pro adjusts well, two twists and stunts. Rarely gets overpowered, which means he's really good cause he's six. He's 673 10. He's not a heavy guy despite being a big guy, but he can sit And because of that. People rarely lift him and win the leverage game against him. Despite being so tall, and I like the way he handled the speed rush there in the big 12 conference s O That cows means a guy that I think could be there late around. Now there's gonna be some of these guys there and think about this. You're gonna get a got Kevin Jenkins. He's 663 17. Liam Aiken. Bird. The other kids 663 Oh, six. Dylan Reagan's from North Dakota State, 663. Oh, one, Walker Little's from Stanford. 673 13 Samuel Cosmic your guys 663 14. You're gonna have a ton of guys that are gonna be there. Spencer Brown, the guy that you said from northern Iowa's 683 11. The next guy down would be a from Cincinnati. James Hutton. He's 653 13. There are plenty of guys. They're they're gonna have the physical attributes that the bills are looking for. What you got to think is the bills see the exact same thing we do They see physical traits. Okay. Is this they watch the guys on film the guys they like. Then they started a okay. Is he or isn't important to him. Is he a hard worker? Is this going to be a guy that fits our didna? And of all of these players that we're looking at right here that I just went down there all 65666768. Which one of those guys is a guy like Remained. Edmund's Entre Davis White and Dion darkens. You know those High level care him. Myka, Hi, Jordan Boyer. You know, Colby, who are guys like that? And if that when they find those guys, that's where they start their depth chart, And when those guys are on the board, they come to them. Then I'd be cutting into this just a matter of writing the name down and picking him. But that's the work that nothing. I don't We don't know. Right? We don't I'm not going to Cincinnati and asking about James Hudson. You know their tackle, but the bills do, and that's what separates these guys were going because all these guys gonna be on Most of these guys gonna be sitting here at 61. The question is, which one is the guy? The bills have pegged Saint Listen that this guy because of because he graduated from high school early, He was a four year starter at his high school. He was a team Captain, Captain. He was He's a valedictorian of his class. He graduated suma cum laude from Cincinnati University. He's you know, he's graduated. Three. That kind of stuff. And those of the things you don't know about. But those are the things and those things above every anything else set these guys apart in a group that I just described it all kind of all the same. You know, on the surface and their stats break time for us. When we return. We'll play some of the comments from Brandon Bean from night one of the draft after they picked Greg Greg Russo and from Pass rusher himself. Stretch Greg Russo 67 to 66. Well, we'll hear from the tall man as well. When we return here on one bills live presented by colliding health. It's Buffalo Bills radio. How'd you gr sports Radio 5 50 all sports all the time. "Defensive end Greg Russo as the bill selected Russo with the 30th overall pick last night in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft in Cleveland. Russo was seen by many as one of the top pass rushers in this year's draft class, but he ended up falling to the Bills with the third last pick in the opening round. Russo's time in college was limited as he played in just two games in his true freshman year before suffering a season ending ankle injury and ended up getting red shirted. But as a Tracy redshirt freshman, he lit up the college football world is he registered 15.5 sacks, which was second in the nation just behind Chase Young, who ended up going in the NFL draft the next year as the second overall pick in 2020, though, Russo he ended up sitting out the season due to Cove in 19 concerns and also to focus on this year's draft in a complete details of the Russo pick, plus many more from the NFL draft, available for you at W gr 5 50 dot com. As for the Dolphins, they stuck around with pick number six to take wide receiver Jalen Waddle from Alabama, reuniting him with two a tug of my Loa. They also used the 18th overall pick to take a fellow Miami Hurricane Jalen Phillips, another pass rusher with their 18th pick there. And then, of course, the Patriots. They were one of the more interesting teams on the night and they end up getting their next franchise. Quarterback Mack Jones ended up being the 15th overall pick. "Kind of think That playing inside helped him in terms of his pad level and leverage. Because if you don't play low inside, you don't have a chance. Now he goes to the outside and you watch his tape this year. And he's walking offensive tackles back because he learned the leverage game because he had no choice playing inside full time. Now he goes outside, and he's still playing with that leverage, and he's winning against taller players. There's not too many taller players out there. He's 66 and I love that. You know, it's just he's under the radar, and he's ranked. You know some of these places they got him like the 58th player ranked, Um, so he's not top 100. But that's a guy I think we'll probably He's probably going top 50 pics. Yeah, I don't think he'll be there for the bill. Second, specially with all the edge rush needs of the team's Joe mentioned at the top of Round two. He's gonna come off because I saw him in an interview, too. Fantastic kid like he's going to go like he he checks the character box. He checks to do anything for my team box, having played inside at £290 and then losing £20 to go back on the edge. That's a kid that's going to do anything he can to make his team to help his team. I said it yesterday some of these guys, you epidemic that didn't last year. You get these guys, particularly young age like we talked about Devon Singletary doing it this year working on his body composition. It takes an incredible amount of work and discipline for a young guy did this just to display and forgot like Peyton Turner? Who's a big big dude dropping 20 you say Wells dropping 20. It's dropping £20. And playing well after you do it actually playing better after you do it says a lot about words. Commitment is and I'm just and the other box. He checks his position. Flexibility, so I'm I'm like it. Were met with Peyton Turner is kind of where I'm at with ruse. Greg Russo, Um The fact that he really dominated this year when he actually got on the field. They moved him back outside, moved him outside and dropped £20 and all the sudden he's crushing people. Um You can talk yourself into anybody. You know, it sounds like you have right, so, but I still think Greg Russo's the better talent because of his length and his versatility is there I have no idea whether Peyton Turner's Injury is a big deal for people. Well tell they'll check it for sure for the surgery is not a small foot surgery wasn't what he did this last season was it I'll have to check. I want to say you might have had Mr complications. Yeah. So that's their shoulders. I can't remember all these players run together After a while, Uh, we have somebody supporting your Greg Russo argument. Steve, it's Robert in Toronto. Joining us on one bills live. Robert, What do you have for us? Players run together after a while, Robert, Turn your radio down Great. Well there. Go ahead, Robert. Hey, guys. I just want to say I really agree with what Joe said. Except for always, I think always more of a guy that's not proven. A guy that if I could make a bit of a Derby analogy, a bit of Ah, guy that works out great. But I like Rousseau, and I want to talk Steve back into Russo because Russell's proved it on the field and I want guys that prove it on the field if I could make a comment about the second round If we go with the corner there, and maybe a guy like Benjamin ST Juice has got some length. And in the third round, Tommy tremble the tight end from northern game and I'm gonna turn it off on this deer foot to your comments. Thank you. Yeah, no problem, Robert. I think there is an argument to be made. Who hopefully get the edge rusher you want or that you believe fits the value for you at 30 because I think As we just heard from Joe. There's probably going to be a run on more edge guys at the top of round two in terms of whatever fits the value there, and it's generally believed by some of the draft experts. Dane Brugler, who's been on this show that there's this second tier of corners that are expected to start ticking off the board in the second half of round two. So does it get all the way down to the bills? It's 61. Maybe it does. Maybe it doesn't But I think you have a greater chance off landing a corner You could be happy with in round two. Then you do landing an edge rusher you would be happy with in Round two. The question is, Are you going to get what you like volunteer at 30 and round one to take an edge rusher you're excited about that's the big unknown. Yeah. And once you get down into the 2nd 3rd round, I think it's even more on mortgage into the point for this franchise. Word sits with this roster. You take the best guy out there get let him can't give me a chance. And there's enough. We've talked about this enough that it's almost to the point where While there's a ton of them, you start looking around. You got all these guys on one year deals. You also have a white guys in the last year of their deal. This is a team that once again just like they did two years ago on this like they did this year. They're gonna have a ton of guys that are not on the team. After that last snap of the football in whatever game they end their season on. It's going to be a vastly different group coming back in 2022 that is going to be in 2021 just like it's gonna be. In 2021 that it wasn't 2020 so, but it's scary to think about all these guys leaving when they're such healthy contributors to what you're trying to do, Gerry Hughes just to be just one same thing..

"Movie. Most important thing i think in adapting you. It can sure that you're appealing to the fans first and foremost. I think you want to make sure you're you're you're being true to themselves. As much as you can being the couches like big lower And while you're doing that you have to because your because you're writing right to your writing something through any audience to go see. It'd be different if i was reading. reading mortal combat twelve video back storyline would probably be a little different so when i'm writing mass audience. I also have to make sure that people don't know moral comedy is can go to the movies and understand. Have a good time you know that. They don't sit there with a mobile combat encyclopedia and they're allowed to understand what's going on and so the trick the real the real tricky thing about anybody who is that you once you give his closet what they remember and appreciate about the source material. But you also want to make sure that you're telling his story that anybody could go and say and and understanding how big time assume my final question in probably the most important one is. What's your favorite fatality. Oh my favorite is in the movie so others say this. I'm a big fan of his. I think he has some really cool thing. How these and we're back. Thank you again to greg russo. A twenty twenty was a really strange year for movies. However that does not mean that the oscars will not be going on. They were delayed a little bit but they're still going to be oscars this year We're going to hand out our own statuettes sexual. It's virtually and when i mean virtually mean not at all. We have some winners in a few categories because i mean whoever went for whoever we pick for best screenplay is gonna be for best movie and best. Supporting actor is the same as best actor. Everything's the same so Let's start with best documentary. i guess we can look at the What did they have dominated here. I mean collective crip camp. The mole agent my teacher and time. I've seen chris camp the mole agent and time or none of those. I thought were the best document. I thought the best documentary of the year. It was Aired on hbo. It was called welcome to chechnya that wouldn't was about so basically in chechnya and shell The chechnyan government Did mass exterminations on on queer people. They it legal to hunt and kill Gay people so there's like this underground railroad there. Were they essentially smuggle Queer queer chechnyans out of the country. this camera crew goes in. And it's all very guerilla hush hush they're sneaking around doing things. There's some really tense moments where they're trying to pass through border checks and stuff like that. it's a nutso movie. That are talk. You memory the corruption in. I mean they get from cabinet officials on tape work out. I mean god. This guy is captive guy I don. I don't know what he's but i mean we're talking about like selling their family members into sex slavery just because they come out and they're like well they're not a person so i'm just gonna make some money off by selling them on the black market like i mean it's crazy condoning powerful but it's really good gac lake one of the most emotionally devastating things that i saw this year but Welcome to chechnya very very good. Yeah i need to. I need to see that my my pick. Would i guess it just doesn't count but we're doing our own fucking. Thank heavens gate. The cult of colts I don't know if that counts but man that it was a series and it was on. Hbo but That that series is super gripping it's fascinating it's heartbreaking. It's actually plex it all your heart strings for various reasons Makes you think the crazy makes you feel sorry for him. And it's just it was so well done and You know i learned a lot And documentaries you know they should. That's what documentary should do is be great teaching tools and this was a super great teaching tool for a thing that i grew up with it. I didn't quite grasp the way. I thought i did so. Yeah i'd i'd pick heaven's gate the of colts that was really good. I get beastie boys story I'm a huge fan. And i think To echo what blake said about learning something. I i didn't know so much i guess about the band and you know. I think one of the movies that i wanted to watch came out an apple. Tv last year But you know again this. It's ad rock Mike d talking about their life and of how they became beastie boys they have huge tribute to mca. And it's funny. It has a lot of heart in it is. It's the bbc boys. Being pc voice almost grown up in a weird way. And i do think this is. I think the best documentary. I saw last year and should have been nominated as a man. I've been meaning to watch out for so long so i would go to So for best actress. We're just gonna combine best supporting and lead I thought the bassin she was nominated. Was glenn close in hillbilly. Elegy that movie before it came out. Was you know people are like. Oh oscar bait of ron howard is attached to wait and the book tried to explain. Why trump won the election twenty sixteen so when the movie came out people were just like not happy with it was overacted. They thought eating the adams a horrible job and it was exploitative glamorized white trash all that stuff. I don't think the movie near as bad as people think it is. I don't think it's bad at all. Actually i think it's pretty entertaining movie of that being said glenn close by far gave the best performance that i saw last year. Just excellent. excellent actress does an amazing job in a very very memorable role. Nice nice you got my daddy. I do but i think i had to like. I was looking for the name of her. She was she okay so she's in recent show made for love she's impose springs yet. Kristen malaysia yeah. I do i do think what she's been doing has been really really great. And i do think because i haven't seen a lot of the movies have been out for. I guess for role. Besides i guess what was her name. carey mulligan in Women But i do think She she is really good in palm springs. Being trying to figure out what. What's going on. And i think she did a heck of a performance where i do feel like she outdid these these ladies in these in these roles she interesting because i considered her but then i thought like black mirror palm springs made for love. She's very much got a character that she plays. You know the thing is an and she's the mother in how. I met your mother right and i feel like she's she's trying to leave that big role. That very disappointing role. I think i do like if she's going into these characters. I feel like okay. Fine escape that and as she's going to these new character roles i do feel. It's better than what i saw in. How your mother interesting I'm gonna go a little off. The board probably probably have on all my picks. I'm going camille sullivan She plays the mother and in the movie hunter hunter and there is. She's great throughout the entire film but sometimes a scene can just really captivate you. Just make you go. Wow like what a performance. There's one scene in particular. I'm not gonna mention what it is. Hunter hunter towards noise had. It is just incredible. Man she did. I mean just one hundred percents believable while you're watching that senior right there with her and she just thought she did a super great.

carey mulligan camille sullivan trump greg russo last year apple heaven's gate one scene Mike this year twelve video glenn Kristen malaysia one blake mca one hundred one of first chechnyans

"And again it goes back to the whole. It has like an after school vibe. It so it is so hallmarking now that you say that i'm like oh yeah explains a lot right so make it any better but okay so we're talking about like the dress. And what their how they talk is really all. You can go off of when it's sad. Did you guys noticed. All the plot holes that we're not. Did you call the continuity mistakes that were in it. There's a huge one in the during a record store in one part right aren't they yes. Did you notice the poster on the wall. Like taylor slipped Well we get to that poster. I i don't know how to explain this. But i i thought the cadence off it. It sounded like someone that i would meet on the street today. That's what i'm saying. Like this doesn't like i don't know i again. I don't really feel like they put a lot of effort into doing a lot of the research we're doing you know we're adding the atmosphere. Where put it in time. Know now explaining as a hallmark movie i wish to it would make sense but you know. I think it's not a hallmark movie. It's a kono of the guys hallmark. I feel like even those people put more effort into like you know figuring it out. I think the people in there they sounded like people who are trying to sound like people who are from that time right. Yeah it was not very well In the record store there was a radiohead poster. So it's a radio malaria's yeah. They've been around since the sixties born. I think around nineteen sixty choo choo choo. Let's of an last year we We did a whole month on her movies. Varying kinds of would this movie fit into a four twenty hall of fame. god milk. they'll it is funny because like this movie tries to be very marijuana positive I would. I would say it tries to but it's not very successful at it like Half the time. They're just like all right. Let's make sure we get like three solid minutes of these girls. Coughing the extent of it. Yeah i feel like it. It's a pro marijuana if it was a narc. Yeah it's it's it's. It's like that episode of the office where they find the joint and lactic old year. Then ryan's like i don't think he's ever done a drug in his law. Doobie doobie brothers. I'm so hungry. Wrote this with this with this movie which is over two hours by god. Wouldn't this be better if you were high Now that you know. I will say this this. This movie would be great as a as as a miniseries because that way could turn it off and come back to. It was so interesting. It's definitely palatable. Definitely yes or who knows. Maybe in twenty minute bite size chunks. That might be better to take on offense so final thoughts blake. I'll start with you here. the marijuana conspiracy which is available right now on video on demand Sear nosy this. There's no reason to It is an interesting story As far as what the what. The what the like the background behind. It is about this study that they didn't canada. That's perfectly interesting. But i mean i've smoked weed for way longer than ninety days in a row and i didn't have any of those negative effects so i i think it's kind of bullshit daddy. What about easier. No see the marijuana conspiracy. I will say no to this but there is great literature about this kind of stuff that has happened Fucking that shit like it's way more better than than this movie This is one of those movies where it's like. Yeah i mean there's really not much positive to say about it but if you've seen every other if you seen like half beat too many times and you wanna try something different. I mean this is you know. I don't know if that's gonna scratch. That were shot. it's different. It's a different people. Do you want to watch people complain about having to smoke weed everyday for free. this is. you're getting paid for it. One of the most anticipated movies of this year is mortal combat We had the chance to sit down and speak with greg russo. Who is one of the writers of the movie. "We dracula which i think is that. I guess the netflix will see ya. Netflixing the haunting bly manor. House store lovecraft lovecraft country. And what we do in the shadows what we do in the shadows rightfully one. Because i haven't seen lovecraft country. Regina tells me it's like great man i i wanted to like it. But what did you can second episode. It was like hunting blind manner. I did see and i joined the. I've seen all of it. But i enjoyed what i saw. Well how how many episodes are you like three. Okay then you should stop because that's about how it's about that i think tops out there I have you ever read the turn of the screw go. Yes okay so it takes them and you might have noticed that there's some pretty big departures from it but it. It adds some depth to some characters one in particular it's just a horrible decision and Not because of what. The character becomes her relation with the main character. It's just it's really boring and it takes like an episode and a half of just exposition and it totally took me out of this series. That was really enjoying it up until sucks to here. Although i will say the tornadoes way overrated it is and and people are like just write a good adaptation of maybe. It's not that i. It wasn't very so with chainsaw awards. They don't have best actor and actress they just have best lead performance and it kinda throws everyone in there so there's so many of them like i'll just say that elizabeth moss from the invisible man one and she did a good job of however i think the best performance was jim. Cummings from the wolf of snow hollow. I love to go with that to jim. Coming to the voice of darkman duck. I don't think. I hope. I hope it's the same person somehow house. He's awesome in that. That movie be talking about underrated like i. I heard a lot about it when it. I think in october. Whatever it was coming out. I heard about and then i haven't heard anything about it sends so good. Same thing yeah. I was like excited to after i watched it. I was like really excited. Talk about it and then like you know lifestyle happens and i got it completely forgot about it until just now and i'm like i love that movie off. Great like regina. And i watched it. And then i we like a friend of hers told her to watch it so we watched it again then. She just rented it like two weeks ago and we watch the kids really well. It's really good a best supporting performance. What's it clancy brown in the mortuary collection to me. That was an easy one like he easily should have won that he he was great. Can't get enough clients to brown to be honest with you Not enough clancy brown out there. These days I would say the if it's the curse of the actress i'm thinking of from gretel in hansel. She did a pretty good grijalva She did a great job in that role. Too but Yeah yeah kit. Come on brown that being stead Stephen hattie and come to daddy awesome so sold so good. I just think about effects twin song anytime. I read that you remember that yes. It's great video. Finding best director was Bryant burkino for darkened the wicked Justin g dyke anything for jackson. Remote romola or ghauri. Who did ambulance natalie. Erica james for relic Remmy weeks for his house and then later one one l. for the woman who did win best director is kind of like you. Just pick your favorite movie. Basically but that's a it is a well directed. Mary absolutely The dark in the wiki. I will say that When we get to squirrels so best screenplay which is again very similar to me Invisible man one and then you have. Baccarat come to daddy freaky in his house. the writing teams for that. Were all Nominated but again. It's like your favorite picking your the best movie ever so best score Jim williams woodford possessor. The other movies nominated his house. Grellet hansel starting the wicked and the empty man which is the only nomination. It got dark in the wicked score. Every score is is it everything or is it just music. I think everything. I think it's everything if it's everything that i would see the darkened. The wicked is probably the best. Because i love possessor and the wicked i was i. It's okay but it's use of silence and sound effects is great like i. Don't think anything better than the entire year with that but a i would have gone with that Best makeup effects though. We have freaky. The mortuary collection. Greg hansell random acts of violence. Which i saw. I don't remember any makeup effects all and possessor which one would and possessors got some just incredible practical scenes that i guarantee you. That's what put it over the top. Yeah that's yeah. i mean. Mortuary collection has an awesome exploding penis in it and it has a couple other things in yeah. Possessor was the best one creature effects. We have Come play his house. Color out of space which won the wretched. An amulet of colored spaces awesome just. Aw yeah totally and just yeah that whole the whole vibe of that movies is really great. Now that plays a big role the wretched the witch in the wretched is really really. Are they do some really cool things. With like body morpheus but color. I'm space slow. The final award was the new one. First year that they've done this achievement in nonfiction blood and flesh the real life in ghastly death of al. Adamson the boulet brothers dracula. Resurrection cursed films The last drive in which one leap of faith william freaking on the exorcist and scream queen. I'm a huge last drive in pan love. I've watched joe comes. It's monster your vision like this great great great. I have one of his books on erotic film like this. I i like joe bob lot. Oh yeah jobs. An icon. And i and i would argue that less drive in has kind of reignited. Just exactly what monster vision was all that stuff beckoned day. It's totally reinvigorated. That whole all right. Friday night monster movie kind of action and i. I love that it's done that it's doing big things for jonah a self. It's great like it's great down here. Gals going to say Agree with what you guys. I i also did watch. The berlin brother is my My girlfriend's really in to like drag shows. And i'm not sure if you guys are into like the rupaul's drag race or anything like that but this shows great way to show alternative drag queens Doing all macho vision stuff. And i do also think these queens here are do really good voice to show a different side of what drag drag queens doucet of being all. About.

"Like a fun time. It was pretty cool. They have a pre show on instagram. Live so i'm not the biggest pre show person. I don't really care about the red carpet stuff like who's wearing white than i could. I could care less but they had a cool one. It was hosted by This podcast named angel melanson She has a podcast called order problems. But it's all zoom and conference call over Instagram type stuff and it was cool. They had like a jigsaw. Guerrero on it The guy who's the head of finger. I forget his name but They've smuggled leather faces on appearance the actual show so it was recorded in and there was virtual interviews and stuff like that. I liked it. It was really fun My only complaint is it was super fast. It was done in an hour and over some of the awards right now. But i mean there was like no chance to to breathe in between awards. It was like okay. Best kill is best villain is movies like fast super fast like back to back to back but i understand that they can't show the clips for everything and stuff so i kind of get it. The big winner that night was The invisible man won four awards. Did you see the invisible man. I i sure did no problems with katie. And i still haven't seen it since then. My family side and i had to step out on this one than just your daughter's like i want visible min only. Yeah yeah yes. So i sell. It's one of the. What is it regrettable. Movie in regrettable regrettable few movies. I haven't seen this year or last in the last two years. So let's let's down the list of movies. It was in contention with here real quick so yeah yeah for sure freaky do we know what. That is Vince vaughn and The girl from bub-bubba. I she said something. Big little lies the daughter okay. He's been starting. Ben what is it. It's money yes about all the twists freaky friday with a twist of a nice that we got Gretel at hansel. Which i've seen have you seen that. No not have kansas. That one boy. That movie was flake chocolate style. I it may have been a little thin on the story department. But holy cow Stylistic the hunt hunt hunt. that's the one that was banned because Trump was pissed that it was about people hunting conservatives. Most dangerous game type thing i. I know walmart wanted him off the shelves because it was a very violent film. It is but i haven't been able to watch that either and then Underwater In contention with the what's her face Yeah which. I actually really liked. That movie I thought it was actually really cool. I've heard very positive things about it. And i mean it's also was one of the nominees for best wide release The invisible man was the last movie. I saw the eaters so me to actually. I think no no. Actually you know what the last movie i saw. Theaters was knives out. That's a good one. It done yeah. Yeah so that you so. All twenty twenty did not see any theater pile of i think. The invisible man was a deserving winter out of all. These haven't seen gretel in hansel. And i haven't gotten around to underwater but i really want to see that one but Blake habsi gretel in hansel and the underwater. Do you think this woman is the better between between all of it between us. We've seen all these movies right You know as far as just a production value acting Story just the congruity of the entire thing. Yeah i would say the visible man is is a is a pretty well above the rest of these where underwater i think You know i. It's more or less kind of creature feature kind of thing. And i thought it was really cool. Great special effects but Yeah as a whole the visible man is by far the most well put together movie of all these enjoyable with great. Inform ince's Okay so best limited release we have color out of space the dark in the wicked possessor relic and the wolf of snow hollow with a colorado space Eventually winning that one making it hard to argue with colorado space. Superfund great imagery is awesome. I mean for me it comes down to buy a possessor was the better of the two honestly. Colorado space is pretty good thing about colorado space is the director. I don't know if you guys have heard is a done. Some pretty bad things. So people are distancing themselves from him like they they had. the prerecorded speeches for all the winners for colorado space. They had the guy who was the host. He was just like colorado speaks one and then they just moved on now. The the funny people like to debate and argue about the oscars in. They're like oh. This one didn't deserve this chainsaw. Words are all fan voted so even though it might not be your pick. I mean these are what the fans voted on. So that's i think that's something that's important to remember Doc in the wicked of fine movie relic is actually a really good movie but has a very cop out ending. I thought we'll still hollow is awesome. Holloway yeah i really enjoyed the best first feature. We have amulet Come to daddy one dead. Dick's extraordinary nc fever accompanied. Daddy's the only one. I saw what i saw. It's also any haven't seen any of these. Danny now i feel like i'm very out of out of touch with this because i did want to watch Come to daddy an extraordinary but eventually everything kinda like just fell flat. I think Dead dick sounds really cool to me. It's about a guy who a i think. I think the premise is. He's trying to kill himself but every time he kills himself. That version of himself is like a copy comes back to life at his name is dick and that's the whole group tencent best streaming premiere. We have anything for jackson. The beach house his house host which one the mortuary collection and run. I thought out of all of these these. I've seen all of them. I thought anything for. Jackson was the best one. I really enjoyed that. It was kind of like a reverse exorcism movie. Okay interesting. I don't think i've seen i've seen around. And i've seen upbeats house. That's the one that's kind of like it's it's about an alien invasion type thing. It's like a fifties monster movie almost with very psychological or It's really good. And i wanna really really really good His house is about. It's a these refugees come from Uganda maybe they moved to england. So it's very much about. Oh okay i have seen that that. That wouldn't some cool okay. That's a moment. Scott some moments collection as i'd say like makes little this international baquerot blood quantum in pedagogy for jato which one and sputnik i saw all of those but buck and Yeah i think it was the best Which i think is getting a remake american remake Was kind of fun but way we too long yes knows was actually like a top movie. Yeah and impediment is really good. Also i think those in Sputnik i agree. I was onboard until yet. Kind of got a little tiresome everybody on like sputnik dick like when it came out. Yeah i think because of the People were like oh. It's the russian alien when it was more like the russian critter son series..

"I was going to ask you is there anybody that's you know reasonable for the Cowboys to take attend that you would not be good with oh man like so I would so I like to trust my front office now and it took them a while to earn my trust but I think if they do anything they they may not find coaches the best, you know, they may be, you know traditional in their ways. They may not embraced New National Football League and that way but I at least trust that will McClay drafts. Well, I'm not one of these Capo Jerry Jones is drafting the church owns a big in here. He watching film you think Jerry Jones know who I you know, Liam is Greenberg, you know, somebody tells Gerry what's going on then Jerry goes. Okay. I'm I'm going to make the pig right? I trust the people that's telling Steve and that's telling Jerry who to pick and I would believe that they wouldn't pick a Michael Parsons at 10 or they wouldn't pick a Greg Russo at 10 or they wouldn't just reach for a player. That just doesn't make sense right there. I legitimately believe that any of those five guys are just dead. If they're on board, we're not going to be doing some kind of you know, Vegas Raider head scratch. Oh, why do we pick that do or like you know how the Packers were last year or the Eagles long as you're right teams. We need teams to suck to gift us good players, but I think there's a handful of teams Cowboys. I think Vikings. I think Ravens are really good drafting to where we can just kind of as long as those guys off the board. We're good. I think it's late is on the board pizzas on the board soil or the or the two corners. I don't think we're that incompetent that we're going to reach for some guy. That shouldn't be there. Yeah, I think a lot of Cowboys fans to like, what about TJ Watt and taco Charlton. It's like if you pay attention to the rest of the league, there are some teams like the Bears that have those every year. This is one example in a decade worth of birth good first-round picks the Cowboys miss. One example, most teams. A lot of other teams have one of those every single year at the draft last time. I was on your show. I hated on Cowboy fans for like 30 minutes log. You didn't even write you get a chance just ask me anything, but I'm not going to do that. I'm actually going to give you all some information this show but I gotta hit on Cowboy fans like 26 y'all are really ungrateful man. Would you like if you look at some of these other teams and what they do like they do they put some head-scratchers up there do a lot of these teams put some and look at what we did last year the last couple of years. You're only example is Taco Charlton, right? If you look at what we like we we hit in the fifth round you can hey Anthony Brown you can hate, you know guys like or Louis or whatever Xavier Woods they are what they do. They have done more than what normal fourth or fifth ranked guys do for right? They actually have given a snaps for three or four years man. So relax, chill. Yeah. Yeah. You're completely right. It's just so not understanding how it works. My feeling is you had on the draft. If you if you get good productive players from your first three picks and then you hit on one more round cuz traditional you're going to have you know, that's Thursday..

"Pillow but what kind of do you have for the parents out there that have kids that are interested in pursuing a writing career screenwriting career. What kind of advice you give them. How do they steer to kids. I would say Listen to them and accepted and challenge. It don't read it off and no pun intended You know it's when. I you know where i grew up grew up in a small town in south jersey again. When when i said i wanted to be a writer they looked at me like i was crazy. You know it just wasn't it wasn't it wasn't where i ended up. You know from my town. So my mom I get a lot of credit because she was the one that really said you know. I believe this. I see your passion. I see that you love this. And i'll help you follow it and i would never be here without her. She she made me who i am and and i wanted to instill the same lessons in my son and so i would say if your child comes to you and says i want to do anything. The arts it doesn't even have to be just writing because these are are hard careers that don't pay off right away. I would just say. I would say beaks accepting of it. Try to try to talk it through. And if they're passionate about helping followed the dream it stuff and then turn it over here at a mortal kombat obviously was huge in the nineties. I was a zero guy myself. What can we expect to see in the movie and was it challenging for you to kind of keep your old personal favorites out of this as you were doing it. And what is it going to be very close to the game finishing move stuff like that. What can we expect to see. You're gonna get all that fancier you love this up as you know playing the arcades and playing the games on genesis nintendo. You're gonna see all but you don't gonna see all the stuff that you love you don't have you know. Even if even you left gaming behind you just have these fun. Nostalgic memories of what moral combat wise. It's going to kind of awaken those again. So there's a ton of fan service all a lot of the characters are. They're doing the cool stuff that they've actually never got to even the old movies. So as a sub zero guy you're gonna see subzero in all his glory pulling out all his moves finishing people. Yeah the fatalities are back in the game. That's a very iconic part of mortal combat We got an r rating so we leaned into it and we just want to be authentic to the game. We're just trying to get fans the the real experience and trying to depict the what they loved about the game as close as we possibly can. Yeah good seven. I think i mean this is the john right now is the kids grew up in the nineties. That's really the target audience right now. Because they're the ones that are the majority of the people of the average age. I think in the us thirty seven or thirty eight something like that so It's a perfect fit for that even though you got hit with the r. rating. I think it's the people that are going to be there to see. It are the ones that grew up playing the game. So i think that'll work out. Pretty good well. What other What kind of now i know we mentioned the pandemic. What hit hollywood pretty hard as well. And there's only been backed up on a on movies that are being released. Did affect you with the screenwriting as far as getting gigs. And what other kind of gigs or movies or you're working on it. We can look forward to in the future. Yes oh thankfully we so. He shot myrtle combat at the end of twenty nineteen so we actually wrapped it in december right before. All this happened really. The pandemic affected post production of this movie an end. That's not involved race and post records really young editing the director and all the people that work on the so they were all working remotely from different parts of the world. It was a wild thing road on. A voice calls just like this and talk to each other. It's not it's not traditionally how you would make a movie. But they did the best that could to make it work out for screenwriting in the development process Kind of continues in hollywood so even though productions are being backed up people still developing movies because they hope that it just takes backup is normal so my work is basically continued Not very lucky in thankful grateful for that that i- insta labeled work And i'm doing other video meditations. I'm working on your nineties. Get thrown one at you. So i'm adapting a space invaders. You remember space invaders. Of course yeah. Hundred percent the old arcade game that was on the atari twenty six hundred first game i ever ever played and so finding a fun. Way to bring that back for modern audience A lot of stuff like that let a pieces of old nostalgic properties and you mentioned them that it's for that audience and i couldn't agree more. It's you know. This is the first time i think the nineties eighties. Kids are in a position where we are. We can creatively control these things and so we are at. You're seeing. I think the materials getting better just because the people that grew up with Are now working on it. And we're putting that love into it. So i'm excited. Yeah i remember to go to the movies a plan the arcades while you were there waiting for the teenage mutant ninja turtles. Arcade game was like one of my favorites diplomat. We and they have a place down here close by me in red bank new jersey. Here they have yesterday. So i get an opportunity to bring my kids there. And they have all the old school arcade games pinball games and everything set up there so it's pretty cool to get a chance to share that as the kids get older. I bet i bet. That's that's that's. I'm glad they're still around. I you know i. I hated seeing them. They started closing them. You know. I grew up not far from rep. You ruben cherry hill which is a town in south jersey and we had a couple arcades. They're now they're all gone. And so you know. It's a bummer. But i'm glad you saw the place that's so why would take my kid in a second but yeah it's definitely fun as they get older to do. I had a. Aj styles the wwe superstar on the podcast here and he. He's a big fan of them. And he has these up video arcade games that he's buying and putting him in his also. It's cool that they have this resurrecting some of these things because they know my kids are playing like minecraft. And it's like i'm looking like these graphics ain't no better than games. I was playing. You know right so well. What's the last thing. I want to hit you with greg. I love to ask all the data. Get on the podcast. What type of advice do you have that new dad or for that about to be father. Who's listening. Wow that's a that's a great question and probably the most important question to ask any new data to get any new port vice. I would say Be accepting of change. And now i think when i i i. I'm anxious when i was going to have my son. I didn't know what it was going to do. Was it gonna completely up in my life in it starts. Make your mind spin And you start to think like well against sleep. Will i be able to work. Will i be able to work out. We'll i've able to do the things i love. Still how much is it going to change my life. And i'll just say as somebody that was thinking about other things be accepting of it you know. The change is not a bad thing. In fact the changes can be wonderful thing and it could actually change your life For the better. So don't be afraid. I love that message. there's been a lot of fun for me. I gotta say greg russo your first class father all the way. Thank you so much. You can soon as your time here on first-class fatherhood. Like i really appreciate you. Taking the time man. Thank you.

"This. Newfangled technology that these kids these days. It's fun and how about as far as discipline goes greg. He's young yet. Are you a spanker timeout. Got how do you guys kind of handle discipline. How do you handle it as a data is that different than the discipline. Style that you grew up with. Yeah you know it is. It is different. You know my wife and i. We designed kind of a plan that we think works. Good for sun It's a lot about talking to them. It's a lot about you know talking through his decisions if they are Decisions we think are bad ones. Then we'll talk through. Why did you. Why did you come up with this decision whereas they were you know. What are you thinking about. How do we correct it in the future. It's a lot of that you know I was i was jersey kid raised by an italian dad and i didn't. They didn't talk through stuff. They talk through it with a with the sometimes with their belt and they said i'm not india but now my wife and my wife is a very very sweet woman who has a lot more patients for things and and i defer to her and a lot of ways. Yeah very cool and obviously now we had the pandemic lifespan turned upside down for for so many different people. Here now i have four kids so it kind of benefited us in a way where they were. They were forced to kind of figure things out together. Now they were you know. They weren't able to go over their friends houses in separate how they were kinda now. You have one child at home now. How did that kind of how you guys manage during the pandemic was able to get out. Do any play dates Ray we able to keep active door and all of it. It's such a challenge right. It's such a challenge. And i almost like almost breaks your heart because You know i want kids. Don't deserve to be locked up in house for a year. They deserve to be outside playing with friends and run around and doing all that and beaming school so it was tough. I was challenging so my wife again. She's she works at home. she works from. We both work from home. So she takes the she does a lot of the planning for him and she basically just designed to be an atom school right here so she would teach teach classes and she would take them on field trips. I only say because i was working So much during the day that she took on a lot of an i thank her for it but then eventually we got to a position where i think we felt safer opening it up and we were able to give him a pod. So he's got his buddy that comes he comes twice a week now and i think any parent out there whose whose been locked up with the kids for the better part of a year and a half is is is ready to get on with this and so i'm excited for to get him back in school. Know i swear kids should be. They should be with socializing with other kids and especially at only child. Because that's another thing you think about. He doesn't have siblings. He's playing with so. I hope i hope to get back school soon. Yeah well said right on there and and you you may have a little blueprint air when you were speaking about earlier. But what kind of advice do you have for the parents out there. That have kids that are interested in pursuing a writing career screenwriting career. What kind of advice would you give today. Started kids.

"Class father greg to first-class fatherhood thank you so much to be here. Well let's kick it off right here like this. How many kids do you have in. How old are they. I have one four year old son. Yes very cool. Very cool You plan on having anymore all done well so my wife and i had a really crazy journey to have this one. it was. It was a wild wild story and data. So let me just back up and tell you that she so she was a stage. Four cancer survivor She at the time and so we wanted to have a child and my wife and now she couldn't carry so we went down the credibly Just long road of surrogacy and egg donation. We finally had our first son. So i think we're gonna be good. Wow yeah what a. What a process that is. I'll tap into that just a little bit more in a second here. If you could please just a second hit my listeners. A little bit about your background or what. You do absolutely so. I am a screenwriter I wrote the mortal kombat movie. That comes out on twenty third From new line cinema warner brothers and been doing this for say a little over a decade now so living out in la followed. A dream didn't know anybody who came out here with the human got into it very cool. What an exciting career. It is much success already. Coming your way. I'm sure a lot to come still in the future now. Talking about what you said here. Obviously the journey for you to become a dad has been a difficult one a challenging one to say the least and i spoke to many dads and we my wife and i. We've been through several miscarriages. We have four children ourselves. So i understand a little bit about nowhere near the journey. That you've had your so after going through this entire process had the actual experienced of becoming a father kinda change your perspective on life changed everything you know it was it was again having it took us about four years to have our son and you know watching my wife's go not battled cancer and then go into the audio. Go down this road that you know to have our son It just you know. I don't think we ever wanted anything more. We didn't want anything more And he just you fight for something like that something. That's gonna you know that you that you deeply want it becomes. Just a part of you comes a party. You and and my son is he. He's everything you know i. It makes you work harder. It makes you love more It it just changes your life you know in in the best way possible. I don't know what i do truly. He's he's he's everything you'd have very well. What would you consider to be the top values that you're hoping to instill in your son growing up. Be kind god you know. Just try to be kind to people you know. We're just the last few years have been tough. I think for a lot of people were looking around. And you see it on the news. And i just i just hope that i want to be part of the generation raises the kids to appreciate everyone and deceit a to be sympathetic to others and and to To to be kind as much positive very well said now jumping right into what you do. Here obviously screenwriter. You mentioned mortal combat Major motion picture coming out here so more combat video games. Is this something. That's always been in your background. How did you get tied into the mortal combat Writing the screenplay for the movie. Sure yes so. I was in nineties kid. Growing up in a little town in south jersey and mike escape was the bowling alley. That's where i'd go after school just to hang out with a bunch of other nerds and we would play out the arcade machine for hours. You know that was are safe haven. And so i just. I had this kind of fondness and love for it and you know when you come out to discredit in los angeles. They don't give you these properties down. Just hand them over so it took it took a decade or so just to kind of prove myself to to work my way up the ladder to write on things that i wasn't as passionate about but i just wanted to make a make some money just to support myself and and i also just wanted to prove myself so finally gotten a position where i had done that and i could I could say. Hey i also love this. I love games like if you got this opportunity. Please keep in mind. And when mortal kombat came up i said i raised my hand. And they said All right navy shy. And then i was on the movie for five years so yeah well very cool. Yeah i. i'm a nineties guy myself and jersey guy as well to and you know one of the things like i said i have four kids one of the things. That's awesome today with the video games is that we have the opportunity to share the game that we grew up playing with our kids so easily. Now they have we have such easy access to all the old games like mortal combat To share those experiences with our kids. Now i know he's only four right now. You got him as you play in. The we is he involved in the switch as he touched tap into screens. Is he involved yet. he's he did they. Are they get more involved than telling me these kids nowadays. They're over my kid. He knows how to unlock. My wife's phone is playing all sorts of apps. and he. he's showing me. When i was like man i was your age. I don't know we didn't have that kind of stuff. We had an sketch i think. I don't know but we didn't have that so Yeah i'm not. Let them see mortal combat. That's for sure. Wait a beat on that one. I think he's on paul patrol right. Now we'll there. Yeah that's a good introduction to a yeah you know what it is back. In the day. I was kind like the high tech one in our family where it was vcr or or re recording one off another and. Now it's like. I'm older now. I mean my my son is older. And i'm like hey do i beam distinct at a tv. He'll be hooked this up. So it's like now i now i defer to him to help all that stuff. So they're saving us. They're saving guy in figuring out. How do we how do we. How do we do this. Newfangled technology that these kids these days. It's fun and how about as far as discipline goes greg. He's young yet. Are you a spanker timeout. Got how do you guys kind of handle discipline..

"5 50 all sports all the time. This ground. Steve Tasker with you, and we do want to mention we've yet to do this, Steve because we got so wrapped up in the draft rumors taking place with the Dolphins pick it six and the Giants picking 11. Got brand being who is going to be delivering answers to questions in a press conference, the predraft press conference coming up in about 20 minutes from now that will be carrying live here on one bills live. And we thought it fitting to pose to you on the Twitter poll Ah, Brandon being related question, and that is what will be Brandon Beane's biggest challenge. With this year's draft. We have some choices for you. At one bills live on Twitter. A finding to immediate contributors Be filling needs at corner and edge rusher, see, being open toe unexpected treat opportunity where something else and right now, most of the opinion that it's gonna be tough. For Brandon being to fill the team's perceived needs a cornerback and edge Russia. I'm concerned about getting a top tier corner. But I'm not concerned about them getting a capable corner in this year's draft. Um Yeah, It's very interesting. It looks like there's going to be a run on corners before the bills or even on the clock, and so getting one of the top five might prove difficult and think about it, though. I mean, we always go crazy over the most coveted position in football. A quarterback And have five go in. The first round is crazy, and there are five guys that are upper tier corners in this draft. It was and I don't know. I mean, how many times the five corners get picked in the first draft? Yeah, I think it's happened before. Um I don't think it happens often. But I think it's due to a couple of factors number one. Defensive tackle class is strong, horrible. It's horrible this year. Um, you may only see one guy and defensive tackle going around one Christian bar more who Steve has talked about from Alabama. Then. You have Edge rusher class. Not much elite talent that's going to go in the top 15. It will probably come off the board more often in the bottom half of the round. Now you do have some top end corner talent. Which will naturally gravitate up in the top half of the round because of the dearth of topping talent at those Positions I mentioned So You're gonna see receivers in corners coming off the board like crazy between about six and 15. And then there's gonna be a second run on whatever's left on the corner backboard in the early twenties. Which is probably going to leave the bills on the outside Looking in. If they stay at 30, I don't know. I don't know. And I know there's some teams up there. The need corners. No question, but Don't Don't underestimate the power of the draft to have somebody Some other shiny toy than another team needs. The bills don't the world. You know what I mean? Like, for instance, they'll be receivers going Zberg like Denver, like you know, all these teams and you go down to get Dallas offensive line convict there. Every team in the league. You look down there need list. Certainly. There's a number of them have cornerback at added. But like the bills, who have edge rushers slash corner On all of our minds. Most some of those teams are going to get go edge rusher instead liked If they're the bills. They're going toe edge rushers to the corner because of certain guy fell And because that team that guy fell to them, and they took that guy. This other team said Wait a minute. We better take our guy in a different position, not corn. You know what I'm saying? There's going to be couldn't even hold down effect They could be. There's going to be teams that have a need that don't fill that need because somebody better falls to them or is out there or when push comes to shove they just like better. I think there's going to be one of those top five corners at 30. The problem is, I think it's gonna be Farley with back surgery. Yeah. You could be one of those guys. You got Jalen Phillips, who is widely considered one of the best edge rushers in the class, But he's got a concussion, history and questions to be answered medically there. And then you've got Greg Russo. The pass rusher was also from Miami who opted out this year. Um, didn't look all that fluid at his pro day looks great on tape. What? Where does he go? Is everybody convinced that he could be what? He seems to be on tape, so they're gonna be pockmarks on just about everybody for some teams. Some teams will be fine with and say he's great. We're taking him. I don't care. I got to tell you that it So it'll be interesting to see where it goes. I know we got to take a break. I'm glad. I'm glad the bill's earned the 30th pick it get its huge fodder for you and me to talk because all the all the permutations that could be But it was much, much less complicated when you're picking nine or eight. So let us know what will be. Brandon Beane's biggest challenge with this year's draft choices are there for you and one bills live. We'll get to some of your comments on the tweet cheater. "Right. It's like s backwards. I don't know. Maybe there's some kind of grain business plan. I'm not privy to yet money. That's it. But at the end of the day, that's about basically what it comes down to. Yeah, so I just wanted to get out there because, yeah, Netflix has been on some. I don't know what they're thinking with this like, yeah, this is going to go over. Well, I'm sure. Now. But makes me reconsider thinking about jacking, MC squared. The. Formation again. So on another Netflix flicks related here story, which this one, this one I'm about to get my feelings about because God dammit. Okay. So I'm getting this story from movie web dot com. Death note to is officially being developed by Netflix, the streaming service released their live action. Take on the popular manga last year, which was mostly met with mixed to negative reviews since Netflix doesn't release their actual streaming numbers is hard to say exactly how well the movie did for them despite not knowing the exact figures that company clearly feels. It did well enough to warrant spending a decent chunk of change on a follow up, which is currently being scripted. That is why they put an in commercials. Did like we're gonna pay death, no movie MRs. Head of Netflix movie division. Scott stupor is determined to make an impact on the movie side of things. And part of that is going to include making franchises whether or not those movies appear to be popular, a rotten tomatoes case in point. The first death note has just a forty percent approval rating from critics in a very poor twenty four percent audience rating despite that death note to was already coming down the pipeline with Greg Russo onboard depend the sequel. Good lord. Okay. Now if anyone's interested to hear my earlier vary, rain, belly episodes. I think it's like one of the first three or four episodes, but it's like the worst things of thousand seventeen. AM and death. Note the movie on Netflix was one of them. There were in a Raynham order like it wasn't like, oh, you know, number eight was worse than number seven. To me, they were just ten things in general, but no death note was on there. And honestly, you probably was my number one thing that pissed me off in two thousand seventeen. I say, you got heated in that episode. I very much so I will say this if you've never read the manga, it least watched the anime. It is a great great story. And for those that may not know just a quick synopsis death. Note is a story about this high school kid. He's a top of this class. He's a son of a detective and a basically a Sheeny Gami which is basically the Japanese version of like thinking, grim reaper drops a no book on earth. And the notebook is basically if you write someone's name in the notebook and pitcher, they're facing. Your head, they will die a heart attack, and then you can write in stipulations of how they die in like different things leading up to it and stuff like that. And it's a great story. The kid gets to book. He's like initially like, oh, I'm going to use this to like make the world a better place and get rid of all these horrible criminals. In then as with everything, he gets drunk with power power corrupts absolutely. And then he starts to picture himself as a God. He will make the world a better place, and everybody will worship him and only he knows the right thing. And then there's this detective who comes a, he's trying to stop him and his basically this battle of wits between these two characters to try and figure out each other's identity. The kid wants to figure out our light is his name wants to figure out ELS identity so he can kill him and l. wants to figure out lights identity so he can put him in prison, right? Figure out how he's killing these people in the first place. It's a really, really good story, and it was one of those animals that. People always say that it's too hard to adapt enemies into live action. Make it make sense..
