Now, I don't necessarily think the team made assurances that Lamar would definitely be back, but I don't know that they had to do that either. When they were talking to candidates, they just wanted to know what their plan was for him. So it's clear that they want Lamar to grow as a passer and have chances to have freedom. At the line of scrimmage to be able to do what he needs to do to grow in that area and take the passing game, which has really been one of the worst in the league for a while to the next level. John Harbaugh, the head coaches. Now part of the ways with coordinators and back to back years, defensive coordinator Wink Martindale a year ago, and now Greg Roman, so he clearly not just from the quarterback standpoint from the team standpoint, sees a window that it feels like they have to capitalize on and it's gotten a little stale. A peel back the curtain and realize that it's best for the team to get a new coordinator in there. So I don't think the presence of Todd munken is coordinator. We'll really affect negotiations all that much. It's a nice solid to the mar like, hey, we're going to help you out. You're going to have input in this process, which we had heard in our reporting that Lamar did have input early on. After they parted ways of Greg Roman, he talked at the team. About direction of the offense, some of those things. And so it's a good step, but the money always talks. And that's separate from any coach that's in place. And so the ravens would have to come correct and sort of bridge that gap. Or they just

All these games in the next 60 minutes. But here on NFL live, we start the day with some breaking news. And for this one, the ravens are making changes, offensive coordinator Greg Roman is stepping down. We get right to Adam Schefter. What do we know here Adam? Not a big surprise here, Laura. I think a lot of people thought it would go this way. The ravens often struggled this year. I think both sides had a mutual interest in exploring other avenues and so Greg Roman stepping away. The ravens are making a change. They are one of ten teams in the market for a new offensive coordinator. And this often struggled as the season went on. Yes, Lamar Jackson was gone, but no, the offense did not perform the way it had in recent years when it had been a top shelf rushing offense. And so I think the ravens were looking for a different look. I think Greg Roman was looking for a different experience. The two sides come together. They go their own ways. Now Baltimore is in the market for a new OC. More from Adam throughout the show. And the ravens addressed the media earlier this afternoon. Head coach John Harbaugh explained how this decision will affect Lamar Jackson's future with the team. Listen to this. 100%, 200%. There's no question about it. Lamar Jackson is our quarterback. I mean, he's been our quarterback. Everything we've done in terms of building our offense and building our team, how we think in terms of people and put people around them is based on this incredible young man in his talent and his ability. And his competitiveness. And Greg's a great coach and he did the best he could every single week every single day. Great family, another great competitor. So we leave that era kind of. We move into the next era now in terms of our offense and I did ask him more about it. And he will be involved in it. You know, I'll keep him abreast of what's going on, and I'm sure he'll have some input along the way. Okay, so just so everyone here's that again, you hear Harbaugh they're saying that Lamar Jackson will have a say in who they hire as the offensive coordinator. How do you think that affects his ongoing contract negotiations at him? Listen, I think they made it very clear today. John Harbaugh, the ravens head coach, and the general manager Eric dacosta, that they're not planning on moving on from Lamar Jackson that they do want to restart contract talks and try to work out a long-term deal. They were highly complimentary today of Lamar Jackson. They didn't show any signs that they wanted to or were willing to move on from him. You heard John Harbaugh there say he wants to include Lamar Jackson and the search for new offensive coordinator. Take his input and therefore Lamar would be comfortable with the offensive coordinator they choose. They're going to try everything they can to entice him to sign that long-term contract that they were unable to agree on last off season leading into the regular season. So the signs today out of Baltimore were very clear. The ravens made it known that they want Lamar back. They want to figure out a way to get that long-term deal done and they will include him in that search for a new OC. More coaching news is coming, Adam's going to hang tight for that. And you know, it is interesting as we bring in Dan orlowski Markus spears and keyshawn Johnson, how in today's day and age, a lot of players, especially quarterbacks, looking for more ownership on the team. And you hear that's the direction that the ravens are coming out and saying, but let's go back to moving on from Greg Roman. Dan, does the move makes sense to you? Yeah, it was needed in Baltimore. And this is probably one of the biggest off season news and moves that we will have in the NFL. Who's going to be the next guy? Two things could be true. One, Greg Roman in Baltimore had one of the best, if not the best run game designs and productive offenses in the NFL. The second truth is their past game never caught up to that run game. And that's really why this move was necessary. The Baltimore Ravens were never going to take that next step and Marcus said it two years ago unless the past game evolved as great as there are multiple tight end package was in the mall running this offense, the pass game never caught up and it has to for them to contend in the AFC. You know, the interesting thing about this no matter who the offensive coordinator is going to be Dan and Greg Roman did a good job when he was given the keys to the car and then eventually that car ran out of gas. They got to go get a big time wide receiver, no matter who's calling plays. I don't care for you to implement the same system that you already have or you completely change it. And let me ask you this then because you would know you as a quarterback. Could a guy like T Martin who's on the staff already who call plays in college played the quarterback position, it has a really good relationship with Lamar Jackson, be kind to the passing game, coordinator, maybe because you know John Harbaugh likes to give guys with the first opportunity, chances to do things and bring guys in. I wonder if they're thinking inside the building like that. Yeah. If he's got the relationship, it makes a lot of sense. I always like one coordinator, but if they think that that's what's necessary to go to the next level, I can see that for sure. Yeah, we'll throw out some more suggestions too here, too. It's a good question to ask. Marcus, what do you think? Well, I mean, Dan really alluded to it. And I've been screaming it for a long time that they just needed to evolve. They needed more nuance. And no need to reiterate that. I think a name, if a guy that is not is fine with not making a head coach and move, I think a name should be Eric the enemy. It's been a creative offense with Patrick Mahomes. It's been an offense where you can implement a lot of the run game that we've seen already in Baltimore, but also a guy that can evolve the passing game because he's been around Andy Reid and under that tutelage. I think that would be a name I would explore if I was the Baltimore Ravens. Okay, so names are going to get thrown out. I want to know this though, Dan. What type of offense do you think makes sense for Lamar Jackson? Assuming that he's still there with the way that they are now. The other thing too, hoping that they get a big time wide receiver in the fold. I honestly think a pro style offense. That's what Lamar's best at. We pigeonhole Lamar to just being this run only centric quarterback or run down. Lamar is at its best when he runs a pro style offense. That's where he ran in college. I threw, I'll throw a 5 names. One, Bobby's slow with who's the passing game coordinator for the San Francisco fort igniters. Imagine him in that offense. Number two, Brian Johnson, who's the quarterback coach in the Philadelphia Eagles. That is a pro style offense with that wrinkled of quarterback run. And then I'll throw Jeff lebby who's a college football coach offensive coordinator at Oklahoma. Josh gaddis, who's the offensive quarter at Miami, but he was at Michigan, imagine the hardball family ties. And then Tommy reset Notre-Dame. I think all three of those guys and the big thing is this. Get the passing game to be married and match that the same level as their run game. You know, levees interesting to me because he obviously had a lot of success at old miss as well. That was a high powered offense. These are college offenses, but still. And then levy has actually been tied to Alabama, so maybe there's little battle there between Nick Saban and the ravens if they ended up going down that path. Let's get to more breaking news. Tampa Bay will be looking for a new offensive coordinator in Adam. It was time to move on from Byron leftwich. Tell us a little bit more about what happened here. Well, think about this. This offense really struggled this year. Hard to blame it all on my own left to which the offensive line struggled in past protection. They couldn't run the football and if you think back to one year ago, Byron leftwich was a finalist for the head coaching job in Jacksonville. They decided to go with Doug Peterson, left to which returns to Tampa, the offense never seemed to be able to get on track this season. Run game, nonexistent, pass pro, not great, and so Tampa decides to do a major shake up, an overhaul of its offensive coaching staff and basically let's go the entire offensive coaching staff today led by Byron leftwich who again a year ago was mentioned as a potential head coach candidate. And so I think there's a lesson there, right? If you get a chance to get a head coaching job, you don't want to waste too many of these opportunities because you never know when they do come along and so now Byron leftwich is looking for a work at a time where there are ten teams without offensive coordinator openings and he just went through a rough year, the team went through a rough year, neither

He had been there four years and how about this Tampa also firing 8 other assistant coaches, mostly on the offensive side. Now, closer to home, Washington interviewing falcons quarterback coach Charles London today for the offensive coordinator position, but two more big names of just opened up this morning. So we'll see if Ron Rivera makes phone call. Maryland terror is going to need a new offensive coordinator as well Danny knows he's since a theme here today. "Or the Chargers. I mean, are you talking about Tennessee Baltimore? I don't know a few more in falling apart too. And the sharks are in the water. Hey, Greg Roman can't leave his house. It sounds like they're just going nuts there in the local market. This is another year where they have it all locked up. It looks like they're on their way. And then the offense just falls apart. The numbers are crazy. The last 5 weeks, they don't have a touchdown to a receiver. They have picked up Sammy Watkins. How sad is that? And he'll be like their number one. And the thought is, all right, so fine. We don't pass the ball, we don't do anything. Last week against Cleveland, that turbo weather, all of a sudden, the fourth quarter, they abandoned the run and dolphins was having a day in Edwards every day. So the ravens could be one of these teams that just falls off a cliff also. They play Atlanta at home. Again, tender banged up. Other raining. Yeah, you could just see Alger just running for 200 yards and winning 6 to three in that game. JJ, there's a bed I love in that ravens game. But I want to go back to the Chargers because we're all over the place. There's this bed I love in the falcons game. Falcons to win the first half falcons to win the game plus three 40. Because that falcons are another team, if they're down 7, the game's over. They're gonna get smoked. But I could run on Baltimore. What, Tyler Huntley? Well, if they're gonna win, they're gonna have to win the first half or they have no chance anyway. So why not take the plus three 40 if you like them? No, well, I like Baltimore in the game. I feel like as crappy as they've been on offense. After they choked up a playoff spot last year. And I know Lamar is probably not going to play with sitting here what Thursday three. Tyler Huntley. If they lose to Atlanta this week, they are choking for the second year in a row. So I think Baltimore Harbaugh finds a way. The one thing about the ravens is beginning of the year they were scoring a ton of points. They were yucking up leads. The defense stunk. Now they got their defense somewhat in order and the offense is an absolute nightmare. I think it'll be a little better because what does Atlanta have to play for in this game? I know you gotta be careful with that. And if I don't stop it, stop. It was 6 wins. Stop it. JJ, we're getting back. Are you watching? Stop it. Stop it. You could sell me on New Orleans, baby, two and a half against Cleveland. Then you could get the NFC title going with them. I can't win Atlanta. I can't. But both were 5th and DVA somehow, which makes no sense to me whatsoever, because every week it feels like they either lost or they should have lost. It somehow advanced metrics like them. So the Chargers is a team that the advanced metrics do not like. For the season, they are 23rd. They're in the bottom ten. Advanced wise. And yet, the case for them, first of all, I don't think their quarterback was healthy from that week two KC game for two months. I just don't think he was healthy. I think he probably had like what Mike white has right now. It was just playing. Mike Williams just he's maybe two thirds a year. He's awesome when he's out there. There's 6 and two and he has two catches, JJ. Keenan Allen miss 7 games. Last four weeks, they're 6th in defensive DVA. There are 8 and 6, but they lost the KC twice by three points each game. They lost to San Francisco and they have some shaky Vegas. They lost to the Raiders at their up ten nothing. Yeah, they have a couple shaky losses. But for the most part, I don't know, Bose and James are questionable this week. But in general, this is a Herbert play. This is just like, all right, what if Herbert just goes on a run now?
