"Your advantage at the time, and from a tactical standpoint, the age would've worked in our favor. Former Phillies Vice President Bill Giles The Phillies decided they want because we had a couple of good hitters that weren't very good in the field. Keith Moreland and Greg Luzinski. It was decided that there would be a yes no vote at the National League meetings in August 1980. If a simple majority seven of the 12 teams voted. Yea, the designated hitter rule would be adopted. And when the discussion came up about the D H. We were informed. That the D H would not be effective until a year and 1/2 later, so I didn't know what to do. Knowing that the D H rule wouldn't take effect in the NL until 1982 and now uncertain of what to do. Bill Giles tried to reach out to his owner. Ruli Carpenter on August 13th of 1980 the day that the vote was taken in the national leg on the designated hitter. I was fishing with my daughter and my God, daughter at a location in the Delaware by known as the Anchorage so I couldn't get in touch so I didn't know what to do so I abstained in the boat. And, of course, an abstention is same as the No. Again former Cardinals general manager John Claiborne. I was less than happy. I mean, where is counting my votes on my fingers.

"Eddie that, but he never took anything personal sort of player. He wrote. If you screwed up, he's going to yell at you. This justified? He's not gonna yell at you if you did the right thing. He's only good dental care who you are. Mike Schmidt, Pete Rose, Greg Luzinski. Very large. It didn't matter. It didn't matter who it was. If you didn't do your job, he was going to let you know about it and get his yacht. Why didn't this I mean, you have a lot of menagerie of spirits. But he won a world championship. Why didn't this team with the main reason We weren't he said. He's the main reason we won. Just with his personality. Why didn't this team win another world serious? Why didn't a team that you were on? You were here from 79 through through? What was an 84? Why didn't the team win another world Safety? 3 83 3 Okay? What? We did win a three We went to the World Series. You didn't win it. You didn't win it. Well, there's only two teams to get their alley. Yeah, OK. I mean, I'm sure you like to win every year, but it's just like how many times you win a Super Bowl. You know, this kids signed up this kid's kind of $510 million contract his quarterback for Kansas City, Okay. And you know what the rest of his career the over under for Winnetou proposes. You don't know now. 1.5. Really? You always got a 10 year contract in the experts take the over under for him when Super Bowls is 1.5. It's already posted in Vegas, huh? Yeah. One in hand. Well, it's it has to be hard for him to do. It will be hard for him to do is hard for baseball teams to do. Well, we only we only want to World series in Cincinnati with the big red machine. We've also seven. We also said me, too. We'll also play lt's 73 that we wanted 75 1 in 76. Is what you get on a roll. How we as you know, is there every day you see it? It's hard, it's hard to win. Back to back world. Syriza's hard to win. That's why you've got to give the Yankees all the credit in the world. Those guys 1 27 world championships. How is that possible? They were our world championships. Frankie Crosetti, the third base coach. We got 19 rings. How do you get 19 Little Siri's rate that it really is amazing, Pete, when you when you look okay, you look at the game and you look at the Phillies now and obviously a 2008 people. It's a long time ago since they won the world serious. By the way, I think the age and team and I've talked about about this. I think the 80 team was There's no doubt in my mind that Theeighty team was better than the 2018 there was just well and I used to tell people that the 1980 team would have beat that other team. And I tell people today I said, we want to beat them. And people say Well, why? When you beat him so well, we wouldn't be him because we're all in our seventies. Howie. I know. You know You're not gonna forget this when we want in 1980 Was the first time An 86 years the Phillies. What Now that's a long time. It is a long that's almost it almost always the Cubs. Well, it's just all right. So now you look at this team and it's different in today's game, so the Phillies go out in free agency is you don't have a good farm system..

"There's still going to be under the gun to get this thing done, but it really does allow for maybe some younger teams that that you wouldn't normally think would have a chance. Ah, and 162 games. They wouldn't have a chance. But it's a sprint now, and if they get off to a good start, they might have the energy to sustain it for 60 games, So I think you're gonna see some younger teams have some energy that allows for them to be in the playoffs mix and normally they wouldn't have a fighting chance of doing it. But, you know, I'd say pressure wise. Yeah, I I got to go with the Yankees and the Dodgers. Do you have real quickly before you let you go here? Bread? Marv Manfred has been under fire all season long, really all offseason long because of the handling of the Astros fiasco than the Red Sox and an obviously this pandemic negotiation with the owners and the players. We know that the Ciba is coming up in a year or so, but the trust level and I guess confidence level from an owner standpoint from a player's standpoint, Where is he? And how does he rebound from this horrendous 1st 6 months of 2020 Well, listen, I think if you're a player or a fan, a man present a bad spot right now. I don't think you know a whole lot of people are looking at him. Finally right now, I think he's made some comments that you know, he walked back, and he did it. He made Bad comments in the first place, and then he walked back in correct time. And I think that kind of rubs everyone the wrong way. And so is that the players union has not a whole lot of love or trust from answered right now, and I honestly don't think There's a ton he could do to get it back at the moment. You know the collective bargaining for Major League Baseball is going to happen after 2021 there's gonna be a lot of hurt feelings going into that, and I guarantee you that the players are not gonna hold back. They're going to be very upset by how this thing played out, and I think it could get pretty ugly next year. I don't want to say that we're going to have a strike or anything. But I think we have a higher potential for that In baseball, you know, coming up after 2021 thing we've ever seen. Because of the way that man pretend allot of things, So it's it's too bad. The players don't trust him at all right now, and I think that that he's gonna have to figure out different ways here and there to to try and get the trust back on his side, or at least to try and make players. Not hate him, because right now I think a lot of guys I wouldn't even say they're neutral or they're ignorant. They flat out just like him. So you know, I don't know how you don't know how you repair that in a year and 1/2 before the next collective bargaining and that's what makes me nervous. You know, I thought I was done, but I want, Lise asked. You're real quick on the only about 45 seconds or so on The answer's Brad Lidge, former all store to Times World Series champ in Philly. And I won't hit on something from Philly. First of all, Gerard is gonna make that a whole team in that organization. So much better. But listen, Philadelphia wants booed Mike Schmidt. I mean, we know about the reputation of the fans and Sandy at the Eagles game, correct. Bryce Harper. The numbers eventually got to where he needed them to get. Although the old PS was below 900 for that ballpark, it should be higher. What on a scale of 1 to 10? Like how? Accepting where Philly fans of his first season with the team because I felt like they wanted a little bit more, but you would know more in Maine. Well, I think you know, certainly the first half they were wanting more. But as you said he righted the ship, and he actually had a pretty big second half of the season, he said, and done all the right things in Philly to get the fans on its side. So he's really I think the fans really do like him. I think they look at the first season is saying, Okay, maybe not. You know exactly where we want him going forward, but that works. For us, So I think he's in a good spot with the fans. Listen, I think he's a guy Bryce that normally gets off to a great start at the beginning of season and sometimes toward the middle. It lacks a little bit. But if he gets off to a great start this year, he could put together a fantastic 60 game stretch. The lineup is fully healthy, so he doesn't have as much pressure on him The watch for Bryce to have a big year and the fans have just, you know, fall in love with this guy, and they're gonna love dd Gregori Issa's well, and if they keep rocking those powder blue, a throwback 1980 something uniform from von Hayes. How sweet of those uniforms man. I'll tell you what I kept my jersey from our throwback came when we had those when I was playing with the Phillies, even though we were supposed to hand it in and get my bag back because I love those things are awesome. They are sweet going back to Ah, Greg Luzinski. Hey, listen Good Having you on the show, Brad. Good stuff today. All right, guys. Appreciate it was fun. Thanks, Red. The bull Greg Luzinski, those old throwbacks. He had the stripes deal. But all right, let's get the update. Act knows those uniforms have been around long enough to remember And we get the update from Mac will come back. The blast is after act Rich Ackerman's update Right now. Here he is. Sports flash..

"I'll go more. 40 20. I mean, Boomer's got. The Yankees got 55 5 They, you know, Look, they're just going to go down and just take out the nationals right out right out the gate. This is what Jericho's been waiting for a shot at the Nationals. Well, he's going to get it very quickly. That's for sure. Bobby Valentine on the fan on Sunday with Howie Rose and Susan Waldman, and because of the way it's going, and you're only gonna have three weeks of spring training, and everything in between, he says. Managers are goingto really need those arms out of the bullpen Mohr than ever. Most starting pitchers, except for maybe a coal in a program that you all they will be watching it. If they don't have a two run lead, they're not going to pitch to the The hitter. That's going to tie the game or or put the game in the other guy's hands. I think they're going to go to the bullpen more often than not. Also from Bobby Vee Hey, was talking about the three batter minimum. It's going to be different. We've never seen this before. And so that will be a key with the way it's handled. I think that that's going to be a tough decision. As any any managers ever had, and without Ah, lot of chance and trial and error because it's a short season. I think it's gonna backfire on a lot of guys and be the reason that They're not in the playoffs. It's gonna be great for sports radio. Why do you leave him in? Why'd he put him in there for three batters, right. It's going to create a lot of different scenarios. Now. I also know that the guy who made the last out In the ninth inning, I guess is now the designated runner to start the Extra innings right on second base. Is that right eyes that how they're doing it. I didn't see that. Yes s o. The question that I have I guess you cannot put a pinch runner in place of that guy. Right. Well, I would that would sort of Defeat the purpose of it. Because then now you got your fast the sky out there. I don't know. You should be able to use your fast this guy and Jerry's back. But I'm back, baby. Look, I mean, like, so I'm just trying to think if you had like a Take a look. Void He runs okay bushes, they had looked void. He made the last out. Now you're in the bottom of the 10th and he's the guy for the Yankees that starts on second base. That would mean that I made the last out in the ninth and rather you rather have somebody less bulky, like 100 guys in the stands. Can't you get one of those guys out there? That blue boy? Yeah, I would think so. Who's the slowest runner you remember in baseball because there's one that pops in my head. Yeah. Dave Magadan is the guy I always think off. Lola slow. Dave Magadan with holy word wasn't fleet of foot either. No, he was. He was pretty slow, but I just remember McCovey. He had big feet. Cover is before my time, as they say, but, yeah, I remember Dave Magadan in shape Guy Skinny. Yeah, but Babe Ruth now I think he was actually pretty quick for his size. They ate hot dogs and drink beer during the game. Video. The only video we have of Babe Ruth. In those old time videos were always seemed like they were sped up. So it's hard to tell how fast it was, like two. Quick. Okay. You look like Jesse Owens surrendering coward. Here you go, way back, man. Right, Our spaceman. Yeah. Right, But I'm just I'm thinking guys who have abnormally slow for how they're not just every fat guy. Greg Luzinski. Kuczynski about John Kruk. It is name and fat guys like more grace was slow have on Steve Balboni. A good one. I didn't say name all the fat baseball guys, you slur about any catcher about Gary Sanchez. Yeah, you could be relatively slow. No, that's a good one. If legal men did you say that on the air in my ear that was in here. I said, Rob, even sure it was for you. He was slow as hell to is another guy. Very, very slow him and Dave Magadan abnormally slow. Kind of like you running down first. Yeah, I know. But I look, I look a ce fast as I am. That's the thing I don't I don't look like I could be faster. I run exactly at the speed. You would expect me, right? We don't We don't see a sprinter when we look at you. Yeah, Except when you are Louis second year and then you pull your quality your hamstring, which is no fun. To do either way. We're both of those injuries in the same leg. Um, no, actually, no, They were nice. Yeah, they were not shockingly, so I don't even have a good leg. Unfortunately, my softball. That's right. A football wise. You had the agreement. Cam Newton to the Patriot's one year could Max out at $7.5 million with incentives that according to the stories S O. Whether or not he is competing with Jared's to them, whether he's the quarter I got to see these healthy but he is in New England now and very possibly could be the replacement for Tom Brady for 2020. If there's a 2020 of course, because, as Demaurice Smith says, there is Allah lots still to be determined before they these teams get on the field. Is that play or go on injured? Reserve it? Do they go on short term? I R. If you test positive for the virus after training camp is that a work related injury? Are you covered under worker's comp? What benefits are available to you? If you have downstream injuries from contacting covered 19 My only question isn't workers come for when you get hurt, so that you can still get paid. Maybe this guy's not going to get paid because they contract the virus, and they have to be quarantined for two weeks. Of course they would write. Sure I would think so. There's no way he's also saying In worst case scenario, somebody contracts Cove in 19 and then Because of the scarring left behind, or whatever significant issues that were also exacerbated under, you know, because they contracted the disease. What happens if they can't return to all I say playing Got it. You know, it's funny. I don't That doesn't even enter my mind because I think of these, You know younger men, athletes as just quickly give him come back quick and don't even worry about it. But somebody's if somebody immune system goes haywire. Where happens and what happens to him long term in what protections do they have? Or and are they going to have to sign waivers? The old waiver. You know, however, that some of it saying from the beginning are we all gonna have to start signing waivers? When we go back to our employers or school or any of that stuff we might YEP, night. Here's one Mohr. He's not thrilled with these informal workouts, and he's making it known around the league. We sent out the guidance because we think that was in their best health and safety interest. Let's just say that you know for some of the players who practiced we've made sure that They've heard the message..

The Show Must Go On: Wrestlemania Is Still Happening

"In the WWE. That is we say what our jobs are. Every day is to put smiles on people's faces all over the globe and we truly believe that and then this time maybe more than any other in in my memory people need those smiles right now more than anything that's WWE executive vice president. Paul Leveque better known as triple h talking about the decision to move forward with this weekend's wrestlemainia thirty six. It's the closest thing to live sports. That's happened in a wild but with no fans permitted the arena and concerns over the safety of the wrestlers and staff. What will the showcase of the immortals look like in the age of Corona virus? I mean at times. It's Friday April third this. Espn daily Greg. You're ready to talk wrassling. Damn Right Excel it talking about sports with funny named people trying to punch each other in the face. Greg Luzinski is a senior writer for. Espn you can check out. Lapsed Fan's guide to wrestlemainia on. Espn DOT COM. Yeah actually I wanted to ask you think. Most people know your name from hockey. How long have you been on the Wrestlemainia beat my wrestling a Bona Fides? Go back to when I was a we child watching Hulk Hogan and the more cartoonish W. F. which really sort of capture my heart as you know through the decades there have been times where it's been okay to say a wrestling fan and then sometimes when they've you don't mention it to a lot of people. I think we're in an okay dimension it part of wrestling right now. We're sort of a necessary to mentioned it portion because there's nothing else going on and wrestling is somehow improbably still happening. How is this even occurring? Well the way it's been occurring for the W. E. and their competition. A W which Ariza. Tnt network is that they've been holding shows in empty facilities but for me that means holding their weekly television programs raw and smackdown at the W. E. Performance Center a training facility in Orlando and what they've been doing literally holding it inside of an Empty Gymnasium. I'm the game triple agent. I would like to personally. Welcome you to the. Wwe Performance Center now. This show will be different from anything you've ever seen before. Sit Back Relax. And if you can't forget about the world around you and let. Wwe Do what we do. Let us put a smile on your face to start. That was a little bit awkward because the wrestlers would come out and they would look to the crowd. That wasn't there and they would do all of the usual pantomime they would do to get the fans excited except there was no fans getting excited. You see it doesn't matter if there's ten thousand fans at their zero fans because this is how I I remember that can only way I could describe it as it's like when you're at chucky cheese and the animatronic band starts playing into an empty room. It's still playing. It's still doing. Its own thing. But there's nobody that Iraq to it and that was like the first couple of weeks of this and also they've been utilizing more space around the performance center lake attacks in the parking lot and stuff like that to try to make it feel more than just trying to recreate something inside of an empty room derailed. Me With that chucky cheese analogy this. It's the it's the rock afire explosion ban. Greg get it right. There's nothing better than being in an empty room with the rock afire. Explosion Band and just hearing the gears clunk together. It's jarring but also satisfying so wrestlemainia. Thirty six is happening on Saturday. What was the original plan for the event the original plan was to hold wrestlemainia? Thirty six at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and this was going to be a huge event for those who don't know it's not just simply wrestlemainia. Inside of a stadium. It is an entire city being overrun by. Wwe events you have the Access Fan Festival you have the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony. Where wrestlers of old honored and put into a virtual hall of fame. Physical building doesn't exist quite yet and then also after Wrestlemainia the next day on Monday. It's tradition to hold Monday night raw in that same city so this isn't just simply one event on a on a on a Saturday night for The city of Tampa. It was a whole citywide sort of celebration for wrestling as of March. Third The W. E. and Tampa's mayor said there were no plans to postpone the event the W. E. said look the health safety of our fans and performance of our top priorities. But we remain committed to hosting Wrestlemainia at Raymond. James Stadium fast forward to March twelfth. Now you have Hillsborough County's commissioner less Miller saying he'll probably have to cancel wrestlemainia if the. Wwe doesn't make the decision itself because of the virus pandemic governor Rod Santa's that points that cities and counties should cancel mass gatherings over the next thirty days and so it was becoming a worse than worse. Look for W. E. to keep wrestlemainia scheduled framing Jamie Stadium on March sixteenth. They made the decision not to have upwards of sixty five seventy thousand people come to a stadium during a virus outbreak and instead moved into their performance center in Orlando. It's a two night event April fourth and April Fifth. How has wwe justified or explained their decision to go on with us? Well there's the public explanation and then there's the assumed explanation that the public explanation according to the WWe is that it is for the fans the fans are the lifeblood of the organization it is a panacea the fans to be able to hold this event. It is going to give them some comfort in a time of confusion and trouble. It's also going to be arrested for the performers themselves who you know are looking for some direction or looking for some focus in life during uncertain times. And that's sort of the the public explanation for this. If you know about the wrestling business you know that part of this is the fact that story lines that are going to have their big payoff. At wrestlemainia are a month long process. All the story lines all the action. They all run through. Vince McMahon they are on one track. And they're going to stay on that track through hell or high water. These are storylines narratives that the W has been planning to wrap up in culminate at Wrestlemainia happens every year and then they kind of moved to new stuff after that so from a function process to have wrestlemainia occur and wrap up which are the signature feuds and storylines of their season. If you will was a pretty important thing was there any blowback to all of this. Yeah I think there has been some in the rest in wrestling circles amongst wrestling reporters and and amongst the fans wondering okay. We are looking around the sports world. We're looking around the entertainment world. We're seeing literally every pro league every concert tour Disney on ice everything canceling out of concern about corona virus and yet professional wrestling roles on as a weekly television product so there is a bit of confusion. There're two why this continues while every other facet of sports entertainment seems to have stopped. What about amongst the wrestlers did any of them have reservations about participating in this one particular did so wrestler by the name of Roman reigns one of the bigger stars and WWe had a very highly publicized battle with leukemia? He left in October. Two thousand eighteen returned to WWE IN FEBRUARY. Two thousand nine thousand nine hundred and he's compromised so news started to break recently through some of the quote unquote dirt sheets in wrestling. The ones who report the rumor. Innuendo that Roman reigns was not going to be participating in his scheduled match against Goldberg for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemainia. Wwe basically said hey look. This is understandable situation. The health and safety of our performers paramount Sakiz. The biggest name that we know will not be participating but quite frankly until we see what events they air this weekend we won't know who else may have decided to pull out or had to be quarantined or any of that nature because they're being very clandestine about what the card will actually be the first wrestlemainia. That's taking place over multiple nights. It's also the first wrestlemainia that is going to be completely pretaped. So when did they take this weekend's event and what steps did they take to ensure the safety of the wrestlers in the people working on it? It's been a race against time for me. As I mentioned the performance center is in Orlando Florida Orlando Florida. Recently issued a stay at home order March twenty sixth that really closed out all the essential businesses. Just like we've seen all over the country so the WBZ has been racing. It's time to not only record wrestlemainia matches but also record. Future television matches programming as well as far as the safety of the wrestlers. It is a closed control facility. Stephanie McMahon the daughter of owner Vince McMahon who is the brand manager for WWe said to variety. Recently there's extensive testing screening. When you first come into the facility regardless of whether you're a talent crew member or anyone else if you have a temperature taken and you have a temperature over a hundred point four degrees you're automatically asked to leave also any wrestlers de out of the country or in contact anybody who's been out of the country you're not actually allowed to enter the facility. Either so they are taking some safety measures as far as trying to make sure anyone exhibiting symptoms isn't allowed in the facility or anyone who might have been exposed to corona virus through travel or relationships isn't allowed in the facility. Which is you know what you see from other companies as well but obviously there's no way to be sure without Virus testing whether anybody actually has the center of city so they tape this before the stay at home order. Does that mean this is going to be the last big event like this or is this something they're going to keep on doing? There is a lot of sort of mystery as to how these wrestling organizations are going to continue to keep on doing their thing. I'm not sure what the regulations mean for the performance in Orlando. I don't know if this is GonNa be it for their use facility or not. I can't tell you that. Eighty w their competition with also filming inside of an empty facility in Florida's well and there was news this week that they're gonNA be taking their show to some undisclosed to record matches going forward so I don't know if it's GonNa be a shell game where these companies have to start going to the few places around the country that don't have restrictions in place or what have you. But it's clear from both cases that even though they're putting a bunch of their product in the bag right now in our taping matches and episodes for future use on television. The show apparently is going to go on

"The Yankees nine five earlier this afternoon, they headed back to Jupiter, and we get set to watch a little blue listen to a little blue soccer tonight. I'm came wax. That's what I'm going to be doing on the flight back to Saint Louis after cardinals countdown to opening day. Let's get ready for hockey right now, we turn it over to Alex Ferrario and Aimee Marx scores last night on Chile's week and hockey joined by ESPN's, Greg Luzinski, Greg. I got a bone to pick with you, man. Because before we talked the blues run eleven game win streak, and you put an article out there about how the blue saved their season. And then I believe that streak was snapped. How does it feel? I guess I guess it's the new sl. Cover writing about hockey team playing the odds down to happen. But I mean, obviously like things are pretty good. They're right in the thick of things. They have a shot at home. I still in the first round because of this rally. So so things are fine. Even if the street is no longer alive. Yeah. There's no doubt about it. But it's it's definitely a fun thing to talk about right now after dominating the month of February, Greg, and then you look at what's happened with the story lines of O'Reilly taking over Tarasenko taking over a Bennington winning the hearts of everybody in the NHL. And then now you go into a two three in one stretch. But when you look at the blues now compared to what they were on the eleven game win streak, are you concerned from the outside looking in or do you feel pretty content with the way that they played? No, I'm content with the way that they played. I mean, I think you know, you you could tell it the players O'Reilly being the chief among them weren't exactly happy with the effort in the last couple of games. That's to be expected at the you know, there's never been floated these things, but fundamentally you know, like we talked about before there are different team than they were earlier this season. They've just been so much more responsible defensively in their own zone. Therefore checks fantastic. You could see them playing with confidence. And. Yeah, a lot of that does track back to knowing that there's a guy between the pipes give you the safe that you need when you need them. But, you know, even when now they're the when adversity strikes, I'm pretty confident that they're going to be able to find their way out of it, and and remained firmly entrenched in in the top three in that division. Greg. You put out an article talking about the race for the NHL trophies one of them being of course, the Calder trophy for rookie of the year. And a big reason the blues had the winning streak that they did was the play of rookie Jordan Bennington now that they've kind of settled back down to earth. Do you see Bennington still making that push for the Calder? I do. The caveat. I mean, the problem, obviously is that he's not gonna have the kind of of body of work typically allows a player to contend for an award like the Calder which is based on the best rookie of the season. And you know, when you're only going to have upwards of thirty five games, it's tough to to make that case. But the thing about it and said, you know, it continues on this trajectory. He could have the best numbers for any goalie in this league at the end of the day. And so as a voter you're gonna have to kind of balance out the fact that he's been demonstrably the best rookie in the last couple of months with the fact that you know, there are going to be other guys. Rasa stellian defense for buffalo, allies Patterson. Dynamics Lord from Vancouver. They're going to have housing. You're gonna have significantly more games. Played in case. You know, he could end the season as a point per game player is a rookie, which is a really impressive case to make. So the way I had a game plan out today is I think the way it's going to end up being which is that Pederson probably end up winning the Calder. But I I I expect bidding to this point earned himself a nomination for the award just on the strength of the season that he's had. And and let's face it. I mean, a lot of these awards votes happened because the narratives that are established around the candidates and the kid. Season. Is it pretty hard to ignore at the end of the day. No. I mean, really is. And really when you look at what he's done. I mean, he's in such great categories of guys who went on a consecutive win streak as a rookie goaltender five shutouts as a rookie goaltender all of the categories are impressive, and the Calder trophy is one thing, Greg. But then you talk Vezina investment as a really big category to be putting innings name into an hypothetically as we say if this continues the rest of the season in terms of his play. And I mean, you've got guys like vans Levski who are dominating the NHL right now and Marc Andre Fleury turning things on. But do you feel like it's possible that Bennington if if he stays on this track could at least get some consideration or maybe a nomination for Vezina? I think it's possible that the problem I think with the business maybe even more so than Calder there's this sort of obsession with with work rate, and you know, guys have to play a certain amount of games really be in the conversation and compare. The the big dogs in the category. Where I think Bennington has a chance to the is that you only have two candidates right now that I think are are really, you know, concrete established the top three, and that's the leader for the for the city Andrei vasilevskiy from the lightning. And then FREDDY Anderson the goal is to the trying to make believe I think is is right there with them. Yeah. The third spot. Could it be Marc Andre Fleury based on the wins? The number of games played potentially. Carey price any number of other guys that are sort of in that conversation and Benny that's forbidding, maybe potentially slide in and and and, you know, you know, be as surprised top along with the other two that are to me, you know, stone cold box at this point. Greg going back to the Selke trophy on your list. You have Mark stone. Patrice Bergeron Sidney Crosby and over here in Saint Louis. We're looking at Ryan all Riley who win the blues were gasping for breath in the cellar of the NHL standings O'Reilly was doing chest compressions on the team on both ends of the ice. Did you consider him at all in the Selke trophy candidates list? And why didn't he make the final cut? Yeah. I think he's he's right there. I think I'd have a fourth of my ballot. If I had one right now right behind Crosby. And that's a that's a spot that whip up either way, and it also depending on how many games per playing for the Bruins. That could also be a factor as well. You know, work rate for him in the past has been an issue where he's otherwise. But great stone March down the winger for the Vegas Golden Knights. They're big acquisitions the trade deadline to be in the best defensive player. I have to admit that when it comes to the cell. Might be doing a little bit of lobbying. This point Jones a winger we haven't had a winger win that award since two thousand and two I think it's nasty joke that the Selke has been reserved just for Centerman and not for wingers. I think it's sort of a lazy thing my peers due to look at how many guys win and then be like, oh, you should win the Selke. And then with Crosby. He's the guy that I think needs to get maybe a little bit more examination attention to the voters for the virtue of the of the season. He's having we know Riley is one of the best defensive players in hockey. And I think at the end of the day, he'll probably get into that top three. But in Crosby's case, I think, you know, putting him in the top three now allow somebody to take a look at it and say, all right? Let me let me see exactly how good his season's been. But at the end of the day, it would shock video Riley in that top three. Because like you said he's he's been stellar and enter me he's right on the cusp of cost of it. Anyway, you know, when you talk about the trophies, Greg. In the north conversation in it seems to always be not so much about defensive play. But it seems to be more of offense of play from defensemen in some of the trophies are just given in terms of the guy who leads the league in points leads the league in goals, but the Selke trophy to me, and you just kinda referenced it there. It seems to be a reputation trophy like it doesn't really look at a play of plays throughout the season. But so much it focuses in on guys that have one in the past. And if they continue that trend of good hockey that they seem to win it before other guys who may be having a better season. Yeah. No, there's something to that. And and I think that, you know, in some cases, it's a reputation that builds over time. I mean, you take a guy like for example, Alexander bar. Call for the Florida Panthers. Who I think could end up in the top three this year. Even though he's having demonstrably a subpar year defensively. Like he's been really good defensively. All the metrics are actually working against it this year. But because. He's sort of been on this track towards intending for the award. It wouldn't shock me to see my peers, you know, maybe put them in the top three and a season where he doesn't deserve it. So you're right, it, it's a it's a tough one to crack. The Norris is is much the same way where you know, maybe even more so than the Selke. There's a sense of is it this guy turned to finally win. Right. It's it's tough to crack it and and for a guy like a Riley. You know, the good news for him today. I think he's been at the filthy conversation before. So you know, there is examination of the practice needs had. Easily could be that he ends up in the top three. But, but like, you said, it there is a lot of sort of voting in both north and the Selke I think a lot of it has to do with writers and media members, maybe not necessarily identifying the correct way. So evaluate how defensively these guys have had down in Boca Raton, Florida the National Hockey League. General managers are commencing the week of meetings. Now, if you got a microphone for a few minutes to stand up in front of these general managers, do you have a change that you would like to see implemented? Well in the small-scale in the smallest jail. They both have to do it to play offs the small-scale might my big issue. Always been the first day of the playoffs. You'd be like the first day of March madness you start the games at noon, you play all throughout the day into the late night and make it a giant celebration of hockey, and you could play hooky from work or do whatever you want go to the bar. Friends. Like, I always thought that that'd be the coolest thing ever. I wish there was a way to make it happen. But in the more pressing needs for the league reexamined, the playoff format. I mean, if you look at the way it is right now, especially in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs at this point number two and three seeds in the Eastern Conference. They're gonna have to play each other in the first round. There's a chance that San Jose in Vegas up to play in the first round. Like, I understand why they're doing this format in order to try to create were telling badge of in the first round. But at the end of the day and just they don't recede to protect your top seeds. It ends up devaluing the regular season in a pretty dramatic way. It ends up with with the play offs. Where really really good teams are forced out in the first round just because of the sort of artificial seating that they've decided on. So I I would get up and make my case to try to reach this playoff format because right now releasing to we're losing really good teams way too early. Let's take a quick break here at the time. Top of the hour. When we come back. We'll open up cardinals countdown to opening day presented by Amarin right here on camel, axel, take you until eight thirty. That's when Alex will have blues pre-game blues and the ducks tonight in Anaheim at nine o'clock from TR Hughes homes broadcast center in Tampa..

"Top are Hugh centers. Maybe one great thinner center. Twenty three to twenty five minutes a night. And solid. Sabers roster. They have those building blocks. ESPN? Greg luzinski? Listen, he was on with with bulldog and Sal earlier today. Good logic there. If you're thinking about what you need to be a. Team that sustains. Success in the NHL look at the Blackhawks. Look at the penguins. Look at the lightning. You can really you like you really need to great centers of franchise defensemen. And at least a pretty good goalie doesn't have to be an illegally. And middle sat scoring last night who little hope little hope that he can give you that right now. Still seems likely that he'll give it to you at some point where he'll be one of the he's if he comes out to be the player that he was kind of projected to be number one prospect outside the NHL last year world junior MVP top ten pick. Despite the fact that he played in high school the year before. If he becomes what he should become. He'll be the best second line center in hockey. And he'll be thought of as one of the one of the who are the best second line centers in history like immediately, Mark Messier comes to mind. More recently have Guinea Malkin comes to mind. Now, technically nNcholas Backstrom. Yeah. Nncholas top center there. Like if he becomes that think about those three teams. You just mentioned they'll have cups like ten of them. The penguins have a bunch the capital's finally one. If you get two centres of that level. It's tough to not be good. You got to be pretty bad at everything else. How long do we spend talking about getting a franchise center in here when Derek rowing Tim Conway, we're putting up eighteen goal seasons? And you couldn't get anything out of them. In terms of something close to what's at the top of the league Middlesex shirt turns out to be good. Great. And then you have two of them. Got a hold that happens. Sabers by the way, sit third in the Atlantic Division. One point behind the Toronto Maple Leafs, four points ahead of the Bruins five points. I head of the Canadians. They have a ten point gap between them and the team's not in the playoffs which right now is Pittsburgh thirty two points. Which is also the same. The islanders have and the Red Wings. Penguins are good. But I'm not scared of those other teams by any means, we'll talk some sabres later teasing this top ten NHL trades in two thousand eighteen lists for Matt Larkin hockey news. We'll get to that as well. But our question right now is how good is Josh Allen have to be. To make you forget that the bills traded them home spec tenth overall in thousand seventeen the Buffalo Bills treated the first round pick that would become Patrick Mahomes in the with the Kansas City Chiefs. Who now has forty five touchdowns on the year forty five that number is just ballistic. I mean. It's it's a it's a it's maybe it's it's super unfair. I shouldn't even do it. But it's super unfair to compare the two in the stats. But it's just almost hysterical. That Mahomes has forty five touchdowns and our quarterback has five. And like I said, I'm not judging Allen on that. But it's just kind of. It's their forty five to five. Now if you want to count rushing obviously Elon's little closer because he has five rushing touchdowns. And that's kind of been, you know, his bread and butter this year has been running the football. So you don't want to judge them on passing touchdowns. But what are the bills? Eight eight passing touchdowns on the season. Peterman has one Elena's five does Anderson have one does not have one Barkley had to Barkley had two. That's eight hang on runnings Jones denied he almost. No. Oh, yeah. That's right. Did he throw for one? No, no. Like he had two touchdowns in that game. Did he against who the jets? Yes. Remember, I think so because if he did the net means Barkley had three because he threw a touchdown pass to. Oh, right. I don't think Jones had to win that game. Maybe he did. You know, what I'm gonna say he did. And I'm not gonna look it up. I'm gonna go with my gut. I think Jay Jones a two touchdowns against the jets eight. Oh, three or five fifty is the number. How good does Josh L need to be to make you forget that the bills traded away Patrick Mahomes. It was only one touchdown Johnson should have gone with my gut. Lousy almost had the one in fumbled into the end zone. Yeah. Lot of lot of Twitter response. Super Bowl consistent playoffs. Shouldn't Chicago be talking about the same thing? They picture Bisky over Mahomes. The text line. If Mahomes is breeze and Ellen has rivers. I'm not mad. That's a good comparison. That's from Ryan west Seneca. I like that breezes certainly better than rivers. But are chargers fans. They mad. I mean, they're not. I mean, they're mad because their team left. But are they mad that the team picked rivers over breeze? I don't I wouldn't think so rivers has been very good. That's a great comparison. Thank you, Brian for bringing that up breezes, certainly better than Philip rivers and has been, but I can't imagine that there are a large portion of people down there in southern California. That are mad. They chose rivers instead of breeze because rivers is really good rivers is going to be a whole Famer. That's that's a disgrace. But rich of a drop off has it been like not too much. Not too much. I don't know. The chargers like do they still flop in the playoffs? Probably because it's mostly been coaching other issues with the thing I will always get back to when we're comparing quarterbacks I always think to myself. What would this guy do on that team? The Peyton Manning Tom Brady debate for the ten million time came up today on the station, and every time someone wants to bring that up and throw that in my face that Brady's got five Super Bowls and Peyton Manning's got two and one he didn't even do anything basically to get it. I always just think to myself if Peyton Manning's on the patriots. I think he's winning five Super Bowls if not more burgers on the saints. Maybe he's burned drew Brees. He's got Sean Payton head coach. Patrick Mahomes on the bills. He's not throwing forty five touchdowns. He's probably still really good. But he's not throwing forty five touchdowns. I could probably turn that around and say if Josh Allens on the chiefs, he is he do you think he'd be playing a video game stats on the chiefs are now with tyreek hill and Travis Kelsey, and he had a really good running back before that. And Sammy Watkins is number two receiver. Maybe wouldn't be putting up forty five touchdowns of forty five hundred yards. But he'd be putting up some gaudy numbers. I bet. This is similar quarterback is a little more inaccurate. But he's got the arm strength. He's got that creativity in the backfield. I could see Josh throwing a left handed pass that can happen. I would not if there's another quarterback in the league, not Patrick Mahomes or maybe Ryan Fitzpatrick 'cause he likes to do a lot of crazy stuff. Like that Rogers pulling also younger. Yeah, rear. Allen's got that creativity. I feel like I could see him trying to throw a left handed pass. We saw we saw Josh Allen stood up swim move a guy when trying to get out of the hawk. I mean, he did jump over a linebacker. And he did that. Yeah. He hurdled Anthony Barr. The Miami game he gets out of a sack by just pulling a swim move out of like a defensive lineman's arsenal you're almost dead to with the football in his hand. He just goes over the dunes like I'm outta here later. He almost did what I saw someone do in a high school football game. It was not lie. There was like a video clip from earlier in the season video clip, what am I one hundred and he puts he dodges the quarterback or the defensive tackle just like Alan does. And while he's doing that. He can't put the ball in front of him. Because then the player can get to the ball. He puts the ball behind his back as I know demonstrate to my radio only audience he puts the ball behind his back and the defensive player can't get to it. Because it's behind his back, and it comes out the other side. I think Allen almost did that. Thanks. I feel like this happened once with a young quarterback, and it resulted in disaster. Like he tried to put it behind his back in it. Think it was James Winston. Sure that one great Winston. He's got to be better than that. Oh, absolutely. What is happening there? They're done with that. Right. You think he's gone next year? Now, you don't know what I think they use the fifth year to find out to me the coach needs the stick around that. And I don't think the coach six around unless they make the playoffs. And that seems like I don't think it's happening. Could they still realistic mathematically could make it? But I don't think it's happening. Texter says second time tonight, you disrespected breeze. One more time in a wrath is coming a row. I'll see you when. Greece. One singular wrath is coming. Joe? What did I disrespect breeze? Drew Brees is I read I I said, I think rivers might be as good if not better than him. If he was on the saints is that disrespectful river solving quarterback. What is one wrath? I don't know. I know what a reactive multiple rats. Yeah. You can have multiple wrath. It's. I think I think I don't think I've disrespectful. I feel like a rat. I feel like a wrath at this point is just a wreath noattacks there. If Allen is eighty percent Mahomes, and we still have trae white. I'm happy. That is probably one of the best text. I can see like eighty percent Mahomes. What's eighty percent Mahomes? I mean, that's what thirty five touchdowns. I don't I don't know. If you do the math on that. I don't what is it thirty five touchdowns on the season. Just the thing is I don't know that this bills regime has the capabilities to surround him with the offense. The Mahomes has right now in Kansas City. And that is a feather in the cap of the of the Allen people, but you can always go back to that Mahomes. Putting these video game numbers. He has an insanely good support system around him in Alan has one of the worst in the league, possibly he's always running for his life because offensive line stinks. His run game. Can't do anything. His receivers are no names that born on teams eight weeks ago. Now they've shown pretty well. But who knows how much of that is him. And he's got an office coordinator that historically when he was a coordinator in the league was always at the bottom of the league in passing. But I also question whether this bills regime can ever build something similar to what the chiefs have. Where are they getting a tyreek hill? Where are they getting a sixteen million dollar receiver? Sammy Watkins it can come in and pay Watkins, he's got his flaws. He's not on the field right now..

Greg Luzinski tweeted out that in Seattle. He's surprised the number of people that seem to think that Metropolitans will be the nickname that they will choose Metropolitans. But when baseball went down to Texas, they were the Texas Rangers the New York Rangers were in existence Rossall long time ago. Okay. The Vegas of the Mets have a right to that name. Regardless of the sport Vegas was not allowed to be the black knights. They wanted to be the black knights, and they were not allowed to be the black knights to. I I mean, I don't know the total laws. Maybe it's just you have to allow it. You have to say, it's okay. The Mets could file a lawsuit. Right. Couldn't match challenge yet. But I'm trying to check and see league out anything army did challenge. The Vegas black knights has idea. Okay. Went with the Golden Knights. But anyway, getting back to the point Greg whiskey seems to think it is going to be or everyone. There says it's the Metropolitans to which he proposed than they would change the metropolitan division. Maybe you might have to change the name. No. Would they do that? Well, I just want to say the most NHL thing of all time would be to have a team named the Metropolitans and have a metropolitan division that doesn't have the Metropolitans in it. Super NHL could always change the Cowboys division here. The teams in the NFC south. And of course, the Cowboys planted in the saints. You can't have a team named as the same as your division. So what are they going to do? They're going to move Arizona into the central maybe and puts Seattle in the Pacific. Seattle's got to be in the Pacific. Obviously you got LeBron yesterday with Vancouver tweeted that the Arizona owner doesn't want that. He does not want to be moved into the central. He is apparently voted against that. It's okay, they're probably going to get relocated to like Houston. Anyway, maybe I was stunned to find out that Arizona has an owner. I didn't know who's still looking for new building Andrew Barraway. They they maybe don't want to move. I was just trying to look up nicknames and trademarks. I I assume every nickname is trademark. Maybe that's what it gets down to like, I found an article said, the NFL team names are all trademarked going to I guess that is I would guess that is standard operating procedure. And the Mets would have to sign off on it. So there's my my my Leafs rent. I'm completely okay. With it with what signing off letting Seattle Metropolitans if they want I really could care two hoots about the nickname. It's not gonna they're gonna call him the Mets, okay? The mets. There's only one Mets as far as I'm concerned. But but it wasn't it wouldn't bother me at all. So they have the same nickname big deal. How would it hurt the Mets? It's not about whether that would hurt them saying if you're the Metropolitans do you just want to pick a name that's already used? I actually liked the name Metropolitans more than Mets. Well, they're going to be the you. Call the metros, I suppose. Okay. Like wasn't the DC the DC metro stars in the DC subway system is going to need some revenue to come back. Scott right infringement on the subway system in Washington D writing Carolina Panthers and Florida Panthers exist, don't you don't have to tell me Twitter's inductors. I know I just telling you the last version of this team fought it and didn't want it to happen. So if you're the Mets, would you fight it, no. Would you want it? I just don't think you should go for the same name. That's already taken. Yeah. There's a million names out there. But there's a history, right? There's a history to met isn't it was that what the NHL team wasn't Seattle like nine thousand nine hundred twenty or something right? What's the history behind? It. Sounds right. There is history behind Metropolitans in Seattle. I'd have to look it up. But it's not that you're grabbing. Hey, what should we do? If a team one of the gopher Yankees, you think it'd be you know, what honestly that's rarefied air. Let's go to the game. Here. We are talking about the Mets Red Sox. It's not the Yankees. But it certainly back can't be the Red Sox. Can you be the dodgers the dodgers you can take their name? That's fine. So team could just show up and just be the dog. I think the I think Yankees might be the only one I would tell you like in terms of all the baseball names Yankees are just Yankees. It's just that you don't touch the Yankees Cowboys. You could Seattle wants to be Cowboys. I hate the Cowboys. It comes down to whether or not I respect and or hate I respect the Yankees as much as I despise them. The nickname is no one else should be the Yankees. John points out that the Seattle Metropolitans predate the Mets nineteen hundred twenty four the very first Stanley Cup champion nineteen seventeen. That's right. So how many teams in the league at that point? Four. So it's like a leaf Scott. Yeah, I tried to delete Cup. I tried to explain that to my brother last night. Right. So he's in town. He's working the game tonight friend, and I tried to tell them you're going to the building's going to be great. You're telecast first off you're going to get great ratings in buffalo on your telecasts tonight. But the building is going to be electric. There's gonna be a lot of fans it's gonna look great on television. And we got into the whole relationship and the rivalry between buffalo and Toronto and the sabres and leaves and I tried to explain to him. That one of the reasons why I despise the Maple Leafs is because the fan base up their acts like it's one twenty cops in the last forty years fifty years, right? When they don't act like a team. That's not only had never been to the Stanley Cup final since the league expanded beyond six teams. Think about that. Nineteen sixty seven right. Was the last time they made it to the final one the cop six may may maybe that was the first year of twelve teams. I forget, but the fan they act like they own the sport. Like the greatest franchise. The Montreal Canadians like the Canadians have won a gazillion cups. Twenty two twenty three whatever it is part of the reason why I don't like Toronto. And why didn't want him to win the lottery, and I didn't want to get Austin Matthews because they always think they're the greatest hockey franchise ever. And they haven't even made it to the Cup final since. I was like six years old. You weren't born yet. Right close to being born yet. Debit even made it to the final heck the sabers a made a twice to the finals since then neither teams won it. But at least they've been there a couple of these guys can't get past the conference final. I mean, they look pretty good right now. Well, they're one of the odds on favorites right now. If you want to go place money on the Leafs, then I think they're a great hockey team. Yeah. More tax on the names giants and San Francisco Giants. Well, what happened there? There's a story about that. Does that Francisco Giants were not the San Francisco the New York baseball giants, right? And they move turn of the century. Well, the New York Giants New York football giants were actually named after the New York baseball giants, right? Which is why they used to call them. The New York football giants. They wanted to capitalize on the popularity of baseball and say, we're the New York football giants. There are a bunch of examples of this in a lot of Texas pointing out that Vegas couldn't do the Vegas nights because the London knights, but though, the Golden Knights and Clarkson is the golden the nights, right? So I I think it comes down to whether or not a team makes a stink. And have a brand of color makes a stink. Texter says that it was the defense department that was against the Vegas black knights because the US department defense holds that name and the Mets don't have the right to the name Mets. Maybe this is this is the same thing that what is it is? It was a Texas say an that makes a big stink about twelve man. Right. Uh-huh. Yeah. Yup. Seattle and Texas I'm gotten a beef about the twelfth man or something. And yeah. Yeah. I if I'm the Mets, honestly, you got bigger you got other things you can worry about other than your nickname. Right. And hey, Matt don't cause up a stink about this. Because they should be the Metropolitans that would be very Betsy. Let's not worry about improving our roster. Let's go and slap a lawsuit on the new Seattle NHL team for taking our nickname. It is another what sixty fifty million dollars for each NHL owner. Well, it's it's over what was Vegas five hundred hundred million is going to be like six fifty. I think so do the math divided by thirty twenty one million dollars. That's all it seems like six fifty twenty one million dollars, not bad. And who knows maybe they maybe they expand beyond this. You know, there's still talk about Houston and Quebec City, and who knows maybe they eventually create an international expansion and international division for the NHL. So you know, whenever there's money. Going to try and go after it, and they can just keep jacking up their expansion. Prices. Feels good to work up a little bit of Leafs discussing. This is an online I always have leash discussed. But that's why this is cool at the sabres are playing better because you need the team up north. It's like I'm not gonna call him. Either. Name the psycho state in Michigan. The team up north is very good. And a serious Cup contender. I need the sabers to be better because I can't handle Toronto success. If the sabres are bad in Toronto keeps winning. That's just know that just drives me crazy now. Well, if the sabers continue to play well this year of this could be I'm sorry, Seattle comes in in twenty twenty one. So you've got this year. And maybe two warriors. I'm trying to do the Matthew nineteen twenty eight thousand nine hundred ninety two. No, they'd be into your nineteen twenty and then twenty twenty one they'd be in the know they'd be in twenty one twenty two. Gotcha. So do more years after this. Gotcha. Without them of this playoff format where you could get good blow it up then sabres Leafs in the first round if they finish in a particular to three spot, right? And once the ATL comes in they might mix..

"We're watching the Houston Astros for the Boston Red Sox right now and Gonzales Merlin Gonzales, never die for Houston. Thr- two run Homer to run over over the monster. Yeah. That's gonna hurt. So it's four to Astros in the third, man. This is a what if what if the Red Sox lose? And the patriots lose David price used to be a great pitcher. And is just he's making thirty million dollars a year with the Red Sox. We have on the DP show super nice guy. Great guy, great personality personality. You just wish you could get it together because that team is dying for him to get together. They're they're fantastic despite him. Yeah. I know it's sad that he's sort of a detriment to the team. But man, I don't know what's going to happen here. If they go down lose this one two hundred eight wins will amount to nothing leisure mood approved not approved. If you played baseball, would you have long pants. I went all the way down to your shows like most of them have. Or would you go like knee high David price and some other guys do and have the sock? Stick out like Stirrup style. Like the old Mickey Mantle style. Give him my preference. I'd go nineteen Eighty-four Chicago White Sox shorts and a collared shirt, you're kind of UV like, Richie Sexton. Type you're very lanky out there. Yeah. I mean, I remember Greg Luzinski back then ritzy, I'll take that man. Could hit a home run at strike Alec? There was no tomorrow. It's a stick. He'll stick you ever play baseball. Oh, yeah. I was big baseball. We're gonna get. Yeah. It was really good. Yeah. I was I believe you is super athlete as a kid. Now is in the Jewish. So I don't know take that for what it's worth my arch was brand Malta ski and the big problem with him is he rip one to the gap. Emmy rounding second in his yarmulke fall off at he'd have to run back twelve feet. So basically, he had a little bit of they have got a yarmulke for people who don't know. It's kind of a circular disk on top of your head. It's pinned in or. But when you're running like Brandon did. Yeah. It's been I mean, he was moving so fast. Did you see our friend? Chris Simms interview to Rico in the Chicago Bears running back the other day. Now, he took him to a Jewish deli. Tariq three Cohen. He at the end of the interview, his partner left. Go put a a yarmulke tree Cohen's head. This is one of those Jewish Cavs. Yeah. It was very funny. Didn't know what my three Cohen love multiple soup. It was a great interview. He's a really fun player. All he's to me. He's like a like Darren sproles with more moves Jerry Cohen the little guy. Plays running back for the bears. He's a little like red yellow tyreek hill on the chiefs. Like, no one can catch what he's becoming more important to the often. Yeah. Jordan Howard, the star running. Now. I've Howard I wanted my fantasy teams Howard had a little bit of yards today. But it's good that they're both. Well, you know, I like the way the chiefs use cream hunt because he's a hammer running back catch the ball pretty well, which really saves him. And he could be in there every down, but they have that kind of misdirection offense law game. And then when they get that lead. They give cream hunt a chance to run the ball down people's throats. Yeah, I think Kareem hunt can do a little more than Jordan Howard. I'll Koreans will I think a bit better receiver. I don't think Jordan Howard is a receiver. I yeah. I guess I guess they're pretty similar the bears right now are trying to get all these missed misdirection plays to get all their average receive. Offers opened for Mitch Trubisky who is kind of an average quarterback Trubisky. Had a good line today. He he actually looked a little more president. I know that you're not gonna have any silver lining today's game. But I thought he played okay. I I actually as a bears fan feel pretty good about things if you tell me to start a season, we have colo- MAC, and you know, we're be above five hundred or playing. Well, I wake Kleenex still on the t- on the bears. Yeah. Not today. Did he did? He know he was supposed to rush Brock Osweiler. I think everyone told him to take the day off because they're facing the dolphins. Took it literally. If finish a statement if the chiefs win tonight and Patrick Mahomes plays, very, well dot dot dot. I'm going to buy a chief jersey on NFL dot com at eleven thirty pm eastern. You can't get any hotter than if he does that tonight. It'd be really fun. All right. Thanks for listening to Liederman. Stick around. We're gonna talk about the one o'clock games game game. The good the bad the ugly everything right here on the LeBron..

"Mean i think that might be what i would do if i were gm like i would want to do that and this this piece is another piece toward that so is that why murray left because they went from fifty four points to eighty one to seventy four like was it that bad i mean i think it was probably other stuff i think it was probably just the a general lack of professionalism within the organization that can include players it can include him like just the sense that they were kind of the rails and i think you know if you make an argument that what happened with all riley was inevitable or was was necessary the way greg luzinski does i mean it's an extension of the year before it's an extension of yup that point now i don't know if i think it's right i don't expect to hear the owner say so but i think it's right so you know that's the question like is is murray did murray lose because he traded draft picks for players and didn't get to the playoffs what the second year i think chiefly yes hiding more than i think there's almost no question that there were other other factors and i think the timing of the bills clean the bills cleaning house and the sabres cleaning house is not coincidental i think terry gula at some point looked at who he had running his team's doug walian into murray and just thought like this is not going the way i wanted to go and their styles i think had something to do with that you know there how how they how they handle themselves maybe at work and away from work played a part in that but if the sabres head finished third in the atlantic the year before last i don't think tim murray gets fired for that stuff i think he just sort of live with it because it's working you've made these trades and you acquired good people and you know the team is good and we're on track so sure i might not love everything about the way the guy is handling his stuff but the job's getting done and that's what matters the most so i think largely he got fired because they failed the moves didn't work and maybe in part the owner questioned his judgment in acquiring like the two key guys that he gave up lots of assets to acquire seem it seems possible any way that they were in the center of whatever was troubling that locker room and leonard yes that's right i think leonard is in that argument yes that's a first round peg and what are you hearing now on letter when people are more willing to talk because he's gone like that he was just not right well liked does now paul put it yes so murray was was a leonard guy like murray went and got him yep but he really is objectively it's not enough time and it wasn't enough time for rex ryan you know like if you can it's your money it's the owners money and if you want to sign people to five year contracts and fire him after less than two like he did with rex i mean it seems to me like that's kind of wasteful and maybe dumb but that's it's your money i can't really as a fan of the teams i can't really like hold that up as i am not better you know if you've got a three year deal that would have been less wasteful but no reference to me is the fan so that's one part of it but how do you as if you're the owner like how can you live with them giving these guys like i'm sitting down to experience life with these guys and then just like in that amount of time be done right he i mean he's giving he's paying biles ma in ryan for more years than they even worked for him to not work for him but that's incredibly three years for each guy that they that they're collecting bay and they each for to mean that is remarkable so i mean but yeah that's right it doesn't it doesn't prevent you from getting on with business there's no salary cap for that so it shouldn't be in the way really in less in some way it hurts the reputation of either franchise in the eyes of potential coaches as replacements or managers or even players so it very well could it in their defense it might be how you get the.
