"To executives at ESPN. From what you saw when you were there. Where longevity becomes really the only driving goal. This way. Whatever Carl is that version of Carl would have reached out to me like 6 months ago saying I never doubted you. Never doubted you were solo. That version of Cara was like, I told you it was a mistake to have multiple countdown. I told you that was a good workout. It's like, you were in the room, but we were making all those decisions. All the way. I know it is. Jerry's like, I'm all in on this version of sports center. And then later on, it's like I didn't like this at all. I don't know why they thought that was gonna work. Yeah, Jerry just played the classic. This is why I've had a long lost career. Oh, the wind's blowing. This might ask sorry, roaming them out. About this way, and then Carl, who what's the other guy's name? It's a good drive me crazy now. Carl and then the other the other guy, the other old guy. Those guys seemed like they've been out a hundred different times. And then they got back in and they're aligned with Logan again. Frank, Frank, Frank. Yeah, Carl and Frank. And then Hugo is the other one, but he wasn't in tonight's episode, was he? It's like wrestling, where it's just like their storylines, and then all of a sudden somebody's mad at somebody and then all of a sudden they're switching to the other side. As heel turns like four times an episode. Right. Yeah. I don't think the show goes two more seasons, that's it. I think it's 5 seasons it out. I don't see any scenario where it goes past that. I think 5 episodes. I think 5. Really? Yeah, I think we'd be well, I don't know. I don't know what we'd have planned, because who you can't kill anybody off, right? You kill Logan Logan dying as the last card you have for like 7 more episodes after that. Right? Right. Logan has to die at some point during the show. I was interesting. You know, yeah, when you think of where this thing started in his health deal. First scene we see is this guy taking a piss in the wrong room on the floor and then he takes a piss and Kendall's office when stewie's in the building to meet with him. And then the coffee thing, like all the things that happened early with him and then he gives the speech and his speech crushes and he like one of the first times he's castrating Kendall. The health thing is definitely gone away other than the UTI infection episode, which was just sort of weird until you understood what the hell was actually going on. I just want to share this with the world to Greg line. It's actually a Grand Duchy. That was just terrific delivery, as always. How did you feel about Greg's usage rate this season? I.

"Is that first episode of media west. What's been we'll see one. Yeah what's been and what happened with the wisman. They meet the woods man. He's out man. Children jerko to the awards light. Keep the turn. Let kids played by christopher. Lloyd as you can tell by the impersonation warrants him of the beast and immediately sets up all the arts ability sets up all the spooky parts of the show. I feel like the show is. I was surprised. Balance of spooky. I like why. I it's good fall. Show it takes place around halloween. You find out later and it's just like it's got creepy vibes without ever feeling too scary shirt and then the woodsmen immediately feels different than our main characters. It feels it almost. Feels out of place honestly. The first time. I thought i was like the way. He's talking the ways acting and he's like oh i just like who are you. What's happening. Calmed down but immediately. You can tell that i feel like the woodsmen does a good job of setting up that there's more Is more to the world. He mentions the unknown the beast. What's happening and you know you get a little bit of that. And then what do they do. Run away from him and then they just meet him again. Basically as a wolf comes in. It's the wolf episode. It's still like a wolf comes in and they end up fighting with the wolf. A little bit were ends up knocking out the woodsmen after. They've established that he's friendly and fired. Because because wirt is brexit. Greg knocked them out because there was a plant. Yes oh my god. We're told greg as he was like bringing them in. Hey our plan is going to be to knock him out and then he says okay but then there wasn't like does nice things where it's like. I don't know it seems nice. You know the wolf comes in and they're like oh and then greg knocks out. The was which was great. It was good comedy. I love it a lot. Greg's line you have beautiful eyes to like. I like to lie. Greg greg is greg great almost feels like listen. I i don't wanna like over indulge myself at all or feel important. But i feel like greg in word or so like like it an ego. You know what i mean like. There's like there's like what we all are words like all our worry. All earnings and greg is like like the inside of our like it like just trying to like candy. my pants. yeah. I feel like the two of them together is super interesting but we are. Because we're like shits on greg. Yeah i mean. I feel like their relationship is kind of one that needs to grow. I think they both have growing to do personally. And then also a kind of like a little like. Oh you're an annoying. Little brother to him and i think that there may be some maybe jealousy or resentment there too because he is able to say and do the things that were is too afraid of jerk. Yeah you know. And then they it's classic chi-ching swear they get the wolf into a into the wheels of the mill to destroy the wolf and you find out it's a dog with a black turtle inside of his belly which is never explained not once not and the whole mill is destroyed. So it kind of seems. Like maybe the men's fucked. Now now is lance gonna turn out and he was like. Oh but we took care of the laws. And i didn't like that moment..

"The greg's are aligned has missed a kick in eight of seventeen games that he has played for the cowboys. Greg's elena's played seventeen games and he has missed at least one kick eight different times. That is almost half of the time. That's not uncharacteristic it up. He's missed at least two kicks like he did last week. Three different times in seventeen games we. We're not talking about really small sample size here. I mean this early large sample size. I mean this is really bad. But so anyway jerry jones was just asked about this on the radio and he said kicker are is dealing with some quad issues and that he needs to get the tweeden reading. Here's from clarence. L jerry. Jones said the cowboys are being tentative with kicker greg's line In the preseason he showed up because of how begin standard. He needs to get his swing. Back this is crap to me like you can't come out now and say oh we gotta go slow with him. No you're the ones that brought him back in other cowboys are the team in the group and the people who brought him off the populace. They made this bet. They can't now pretend like he's hurt. They're the ones who thought that this was clear to go. You know what i mean. I don't understand. They're thanking. Because i i don't know if he when i was training camp i don't remember because i really don't focus on the keeping day when it comes to the right. No not necessarily i. I just look at look at cleveland. The baccio that's how they lost a gang the snap hypocritic hit the opponent's hands and he dropped it okay in the kansas city game. He saw that at the end of that. But to greg searle on. it's like off. You're not out there hitting balls around the professional the pga tour in all sudden. You start hitting balls you. Don't you gotta get some that muscle memory down back to to get your slaying kind of the crate. The get your timing back and everything. I think we're kicker is kind of the same. When you're not out there under duress presser someone trying to block where it's gang situation. Then you kinda kinda know where you're at right. But he decided he just. He didn't he didn't look comfortable. He wasn't good but then and disagree with you but why bring him back. Because you're right. You're right like he's thought i was saying if bill like you're obviously were comfortable enough with what he was doing. Something whatever he seven issues with his squad or whatever that may be in his kicking leg then there should have been some question. Marks holley's can perform on. He didn't do anything on. Preseason what do you play get one preseason game against the jaguars and his is very first practice. He went five of eight on so again. None of this is in your practice. But like i agree with you entirely. I know you have the same question as i do. So okay cowboys fine. You want to bring him back. You wanna to put them on ice great. Go ahead and do that. Get him to where he can practice etc but don't throw him out there in a game where consequences are on the line. You had a minute. He's not ready because that's what they're effectively saying is we throughout you know a situation. We didn't totally trust and that's really irresponsible and reckless in my mind Roots ugly head. Is that if the cowboys are being a lot more games than they were last year. They're going to this guy going to have to make convert you're gonna have to make extra points he's gonna have to be better than Three or five or three six. He's gotta be seventy five percent or eighty percent of its kicks so because g mentioned that was one of the reasons why they had a chance to win. But your kickers missing. Missing bill goals in. You're not gonna have an opportunity..

"That's pretty significant. Rj so i think to me especially if you take the one of your best players album core. The heart sold at offensive line. And you don't have you have to run you're on the road is gonna be frigging hostile. They're given out raise man to celebrate ethnic. The parties continued man. They're still. They're still at high when the super bowl fifty five so right to me. I think that to me is simple as that sounds and they get little little shaves right. I think running the football under the circumstances. Losing your best player office associate said to me. That's going to be something to write about. Second best player right. Yes so. I don't want to put words in your mouth. I would verbalize that point as saying if they are efficient on offense if they have manageable third-down like if they're getting into third and seven thirty and eight. That's how you lose this game. You know what i mean like. If you're in in third downs that are difficult to pull up. You need you know. You've you've gotta you know you've got to take advantage of first and second down. That's why you know people hate running on first down because they call. So i would say you've got gotta have manageable third dance. That's that's the key for me. If i had to give an answer. I mean which is kind of the point i would say it's like winning the turnover battles to to general right like because that goes that sang if they win the most teams that went about the nfl games. But i think you know a stat that i screamed. All last year was how infrequently the cowboys began possessions on the positive side of the fifty yard line through their first seven games last year. They began to possessions on the positive side. One possession on the positive side of the fifty yard line. And so if you're kind of like i said like if if you're asking your offense to convert third and seven thirty and eight over and over and over again it's not going to end. Well even the best offenses in the nfl. It's going to be difficult. And so similarly. If you're asking your offense to drive seventy nine yards. Eighty one yard seventy six ers. It's it's tough against anyone let alone against one of the best defense in the nfl. And so this defense is going to have to help the offense like i know. That's a general way to put it to but we're going to need a three and out we're going to need a turnover three but maybe it's a three and out after one. I down like we're gonna need short possessions. The cowboys defense is going to have to two to three different times. Give the cowboys respectably. Nice field position right sixty yards to go. Because if you give this cowboys offense we think you know the you know the ball on their own forty yard line. You're getting points right like even if you walk away with a field goal. You're getting points on that possession and so you've gotta stack those up and every opportunity to get points in. This game is going to be so critical because this is so good. And that's i'm a little like i. Just a teeny bit worried about greg's line. Just because he had the shaky start. During the first day of practice he hasn't really kicked into the preseason. I'm not like ready to panic about it. But you know this is not a game where you can be squandering opportunities to score points. As my overall point on the table without a doubt right and i think most teams that get the ratio of them getting the ball on the thirty five yard line and they have obviously a lot higher opportunities score points. But i think it also is it. This receiving core has so much hype in his is so talented. And i think with blake. Jaren me knows a lot. The yard to be had and i think when you play a defensive so good upfront i mean those dudes are you got golsen. We've mentioned databa- you've got I mean those guys. i mean. They're like they're they're not the most active guys i mean they're just big and look you got to get them running east and west and i make it stay on the field orman of in the first game of the season to me. I think is very critical. Because look i think. Death is crucial. Because i know the first game of the season. You're not used to going fifty five sixty five snaps a game. And if you're out in the field l. on the fourth quarter. My gosh i mean you're talking about getting punched in the gut. Made the duration of the game to me that is also you know the the time of possession time of possession keep bryant fall into me run. The football is something that you really are able to create an and the weapons of cd. Land amar cooper's already said he's the best wide receiver in the nfl. You got now is another quote. I was surprised. Been guys kinda validate himself with like. He's like went on to say. Oh cowbell date myself my shoulder. So there's a lotta showcasing be going on in this game. Which i like it. You want to get back it up. Yeah man i mean this. Is you know what this is. And i don't think you watched. Game of thrones right weren't rat. Don't don't waste your time a lot of great movies. A lot of great centers. That i just got that i enjoy. It gives me something to look forward to. But no game of thrones. It's you know for anyone that is The final season took two years. So i forget what number was like seven or eight whatever. The final season was but after the second to last season it was announced that it was going to take two years so we waited two whole years for this final season to common that land and it was disappointed. and so. that's kinda sad. Exactly how i feel. But we've been waiting. You know like i dunno. Fans of The tennessee titans have been waiting a long time. I mean there are team lost in the wildcard round of the playoffs last year. So they've been waiting a long time to get to see this team but they've seen this team right. They're seeing ryan tannehill they've seen derrick henry brown like yeah they're to julio jones whatever but my point is we've gone even longer in i mean we we've gone what feels like two years since it kind of has been two years. I mean the the two thousand nineteen season broke for the cowboys. Right like right around thanksgiving when they got their ass kicked by buffalo and then they got destroyed in chicago and then it was really obvious. The jason garrett was out and they got embarrassed in philadelphia. I mean that last month the twenty nine thousand season was was like pulling teeth. And so then. The mike mccarthy era begins and the pandemic hits and then we're waiting forever to see sports in general we see the cowboys comeback and we get a small just baby taste of what nice life can be like as a cowboys fan and then dak prescott is taken away from us so this has been a really really really long time coming and so it it's going to be interesting like besides the fact that we're hopeful it's going to be interesting.

"Diversity inclusion not only for their broader organization internally for the industry and what they're doing right. He's really taken on the responsibility for advertisers to really step it up and drive cultural relevance so i think that he he's done a tremendous job evangelizing that in the organization and the resulting in campaigns. That are extraordinarily beautiful and rich and meaningful Not just for hispanics and african americans but for lgbtq four For for so many different consumer groups and done in a really Thoughtful way and in so. That's definitely a company that i've been looking at the work. I do as like. wow like. They really have done a great job. Really making this part of almost like their company and go to market and into the honest. I don't know if they have a hispanic cnn. I don't know if they do. I think he's just kind of taken the mindset and said hey this this is the landscape before consumer base is. We need to reach him in the most relevant way. Right right yeah yeah. I'm not sure either if they do. Or don't I do know that like he. He's even gone through on a personal level of self self discovery process The like ensuring his own heritage know having a at can't remember his mom or dad but there's mexican heritage on one side or the other and Almost like it for a period of time. And then you coming to like this. Nothing should be hiding like this something. I should put out there. This part of me and part of who i am and so i think. I don't know if that precipitated all the other aspects of what you described but i know that he's been on a personal journey as as well as a business journey. I've heard a little bit of interesting. How we've just been talking about the changing population dynamics with The us in particular end. You know eventually. Do you feel like the hispanic business unit. Maybe not hispanic business unit. But do you feel like this notion of how we go to market to serve varying populations. Does it just mean that. We need to change everything that we do as it relates to go to market. Meaning that like you're hispanic business. Unit becomes the way of the future. Not something that's different or separate like we're talking about it right now. Yeah that makes sense. It does and my boss. Greg lines and i have talked about this too in that in a perfect world right. All marketers have this keen sense Almost like spidey sense for for really understanding on having enough consumer empathy then what they do provides the cultural relevance required based on the different cohorts. But until that is true the banning business unit for example serves as champion at age. Ambien as to why Really need to be more culturally relevant. How doing do that. How to measure that. So that folks start to really say while the straps business results we. We have to do this. We have to start including these insights into our brand strategies to then lead to annual plans and execution and until that happens like you know unilaterally. You still need a team. That's really really going to build the muscle to help also teach and inspire the organization But but yeah we've talked about the longer term. Yeah people get it and people do that in a in a in a a standard way because Mar martin marketing. You would call his multicultural. Marketing nowadays is not general market marketing. Everything like for marketing right. We look for that sweet spot of the of the consumer need brand in the cultural context that cultural context is that urse so so then that's true going forward right like it's it's true so that would should then lead you to place where where your solutions and your coms are all capturing the the bigger pitcher in a way. Yeah that makes sense. I mean it seems like a long term play Meaning that eventually it may come back together again or be the new model so to speak of how we should be thinking about marketing. The population that is changing. And maybe it's not that different than you know. Companies that stand up new business models as business units And then ultimately that new business model eats prior business models launch And they become the new way that the company runs You know so. Maybe that's the evolution to you that we're talking about in some respects. It's definitely regardless of what it is is new muscles that need to be built currently and how how has how has the business been impacted this year given all of the things have gone on in twenty twenty. Yup well early on you know. We definitely paused a lot of things especially on the communication side because the moment was on so uncertain and so Challenging for people and really between you know covert and all of the Systemic racism issues. So we were really thoughtful about like hey like what's the right message to go out and when so.

Mar martin Greg twenty twenty hispanics this year one side african americans hispanic mexican
