"I'm pat around the table. The horse of the head of the table. Oh my god okay we gotta we gotta keep going right back in the bit so okay if we look at the success of like recent superhero movies. It's always fun or gritty twists on their origin story or or their character. That's what makes them shine so my question to you is what's the source origin story for your hero. And then how are you going to change that for this reboot to make them extra. You know extra purposeful in meaningful to the story. Yeah so we don't get a whole lot about invisible boys beshir. Don't know that. I'm ryan three seems so kill. Mitchell is a stunt cast. That was to get the kids butts in the seats. This was the height of keenan and kelly. Like this was to get a high nick. Yeah yeah this was the kids in the door because this was like kind of a team. I was twelve years old. This hit me. Just a perfect i to watch this because i when i thought about cal. Mitchell would only think that he likes orange soda and that he put the screw in the tuna time when every movie that wasn't rated g. or are had to fit fit. This wide gap of appealing to twelve year olds and like thirty five year olds. All at once. You've had to take someone from the cast of all that. Yes yes absolutely. Which is why. You have greg kinnear acting alongside cal mitchell in a separate here. Sorry andrew fucking geoffrey rush city. Yeah remind everybody that. I assume oscar award winner at geoffrey rush also in this. I don't know if he has an academy award or not. It doesn't matter so we don't get invisible boys backstory. All we get is all his life us ignored and this one bit the first scene. We see at his parents house because he's a teenager and he's a door tells dead going to my room with three strange men funny line and his dad doesn't respond a quite lonely kid who discovered that he.

It was about 12 02 midnight. He's the dad. Craig Counsell. The chicken ran at midnight, and I just I just dragging my needs That gives me chills even hearing you say it again. I've heard this story numerous times. It just it just blew me away. Something that meant nothing. All of a sudden meant everything in the world to our family. So how did Hollywood get ahold of this story and get ahold of you? Well, first of all, Tom friend who works for ESPN. He put the feature on ESPN. And then he wrote, We wrote a book and about your About eight months ago, I get a phone call from Hollywood and I, You know, I said, What the heck? Hollywood's calling me from Hollywood. And it was Diedrich Gurney and Deidre Gurney is the creator of Duck Dynasty, and I think she produced fast. The movie fast and furious. Along who reason, she said, Rich? I've been chasing your story for 10 years. I'd be honored if you let me do the movie. So we got together and about a month ago we signed a contract and we're going to start production here right after the first of the year. And it's just it's just thrilling and honored. The were able to pass our story along everybody across the country Now, when and again I'm talking, a former baseball coach Rich Donley. Rich when you told them you wanted me Bloom, Daddy to play you in the movie. What was the response? Well, they said you'd be perfect. They were looking for an athletic guy. Kinda good. Looking in a real jerk on you would you would fit that bill just perfectly to achieve and have to act. It's your whole life has been an act. That would be perfect. I have no idea why I like you. I thought the perfect choice to play you would be Woody Harrelson. Honestly, I mean, you guys kind of look alike. Who is playing you. I don't know. They tell me that you write the script, and then they go to the acting cool, And I guess there's I don't even know there wasn't acting cool and they go and they they try to find somebody who It sort of looks like the character for me for my daughter for my boys, and then that's who they choose, and then we go to work. So Charlie Sheen. It would be your choice. Oh, no. Well, I don't know. You know, they tell me. I've talked to some friends of mine and they told me a guy by the name of great pioneer. Yeah, Who's an actor, and I just looked him up. And we do look alike and they said he likes sports, and and he'd be perfect, But, you know Known what's inside my head. And now I am. They're gonna have a hard time finding somebody. Well, Greg Kinnear was incredible. I'm trying to think of the movie Invincible. He played Dick for meal. The former head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. He was tremendous in that one. Did you know that? Yeah. Perfect. And look, I'm sure he's on the list. But you know, I'll leave that up to them. I told Deidre the other day I said, Look, this is your baby. I am just I told her. I tell you what I feel like I'm a brown pair of shoes and your tuxedo. So you take it from there. Well, congratulations on the movie..

Is now the time you want to sit back and binge on a remake of Stephen King's End of the world thriller the Stand Well, CBS Access is certainly betting on it. It opened this week, not sure what the reaction will be, as it strikes a little close to home during the current pandemic. In this version, there is again a disease unleashed upon the world with a small group of naturally immune survivors, led by a 108 year old mother, Abigail, played by Whoopi Goldberg and lots of makeup. Ultimately, it's a story of good versus evil in the cast is pretty impressive, including Jane. James Marsden, Amber Heard Heather Graham and Greg Kinnear. The stand remains one of Stephen King's most successful books, and critics are saying overall, this new miniseries might be the best adaptation of it. And according to those critics, there was no effort to make fiction reflect reality. We shall see when the numbers come in. If this version of the stand at this time is going to be a hit, and that's now streaming with Jordan WBZ Boston's news radio in North Carolina school principal is on the holiday mission to bring joy to Over one million people nationwide. "Because you get to play this. I should be clear homeland or sort of this superhero Captain America style like altruistic hero, But then he's also kind of secretly evil. So in this role, you kind of have to do two things at once. I imagine that's a real gift for an actor. Yeah, It's incredible. It's it's Ah, It's honestly It's the gift that keeps on giving in 70 different ways, you know, and I'm so happy that we've had a positive response thus far because We get to keep doing it. I mean, I decided. Haven't had this much fun in there. General. I'm possibly ever. You know, it's just being being someone basically in massive cystic sociopath is Just so much fun and you get to do so much crazy stuff. So, yeah, it's a ball, so let's talk a little bit about the plot. I just want to run it down for people who haven't seen the show. Yet. The show is set in a fictional world superheroes are big business home Lander and his teammates. The seven are owned by a company called VOD. International. How does the fact that they're owned by a corporation show up in the superheroes and what they do? Well, I mean, you know, I mean, it's like there was. There was AH movie ages ago called Mystery Man. In which Greg Kinnear played a superhero basically the old American superhero responsive by pity and all these other products, and it's Kit's sort of leans into that idea. Is this big corporate Goliath? In the full of or that basically is just, you know, it's just a general isn't the branding superheroes as a product, you know, has any any any other Corporation does. It's It's really It's just about money. It's just it's it's Symptomatic of Ah, well, some symbolic and reflective of what's going on the world today. The weather, big conglomerate, corporations and kind of a dominating the marketplace and pretty much taken over. Most facets of the way we lived. Ah, you know, in the show, it's the super heroes of the product and We're out there doing all these wonderful deeds Teo and putting on the public face and then behind that asses the case with many a celebrity and media politician is a very dark side going on. So Basically, it's you know, it's it's a good versus evil show, but everything is inverted. I want to play a clip that I think really illustrates that what you're talking about there, So this is home Lander, your character, addressing reporters and the public at the scene of a plane crash or terrorist plane crash. We have home Lander and Queen Maeve on the scene. Do you have a comment if they let us into the military? And this will never Happened again. That is my solemn promise to you. Want to your congressman. Talk to them. They'll listen to the people together. Together, We will make sure that this never happens to our great nation ever again. Bless you. God bless America. Brother. I hear you. That is a clip from the boy's starring my guest, Anthony Star Anthony like that is one of the scariest parts of the show to me, and I want you to run down. Why? Because there's obviously it sounds like you're giving A speech about your feel so sad for this tragedy. Tell me a little bit about like home Lander's M o in that moment. In that moment, he's there's been a There's been a hijacking Queen May, which is another superhero in the seven and myself, homeland. Have busted onto this plane killed the hijack ism in accidentally homeland delays at the controls of the plane. And so the plane is actually going guys going down on we made the choice for pride of the plane going down. Well, I made the choices that we had to leave all the passengers on board so I think there was, you know, 240 odd people onboard. A male died, so this whole speech is a spin. On homeland is part basically the trans salvage pun intended salvage something from the wreckage on DH spin it politically because homeland is big Emma underlying all this one of them anyway in his quest to become A guard or Sena's A god. Ah, Pot One is to get superheroes installed as a centerpiece of the military, so he basically is making a speech to plan. Patriotism and their fear to train accelerate the superheroes entry into the into the army. It's It's so scary to see him turn like that and how effective it really is. And the show's title The boys is a reference to its protagonist. These civilians played by Karl, Urban and.

Which is he could probably do asleep. And he did. Two episodes of Rake starring Greg Kinnear which didn't last very long Amazing JOBS. He's been essentially producing. You know he's you know there's been a couple movies that have come out with the from the mind of San Ramey tag like but he's just all that means is he's producing it. He hasn't directed anything quite a while. One of the other interesting things about this is. There's already were a lot of rumors based on the title of the movie. That doctor strange in the multi-diverse Amandus that we could see a lot of returning characters and we could see used some actors from other things that you know the SORTA like the crisis on That we got with on on TV that we could see the return of some other versions of these characters. As doctor strange goes through the multi-diverse and obviously with his ties to to McGuire and the original spider man trilogy we could potentially actually see like an alternate version of Spiderman or. I don't know if they can use spider-man.

On the talk soup guy. And then he had like a talk show or something and seen it then he won an Academy Award or something for I think you'd portrayed. Bob, crane the guy. Yeah. Yeah. So what happened to him? Mesa me. Anymore movies love we should have more programs? Sam get on that. Okay. Greg kinnear. A true story. When Craig Kilborn was doing the late late show. We were in LA, and we're going to go watch the Dennis Miller show here. He had a television show on HBO time late nineteen ninety s and as Roma to go and be in the audience for the Dennis Miller show. Craig Kilborn was standing next to us. And it looked at my wife, and I said, oh, look, it's great career. He heard me give you look. Oh, man. I had I not said that I would have felt strongly that Craig Kilborn and our friends. Yeah. Not so much in that. Are you also using he quit doing the late late show? It's the reason I honestly poll I think it was the first week. He ever did that show because he just been hired from the daily show, which of course, he started on comedy central. So it was all very interesting. So yeah, I that was my big foot my mouth. Great career. In fact, I was even Greg Craig let me go to the phone lines in Salo, Tom who is in Boston, Tom what's going on? Hi on the radio. Living the dream, my friend, what's happening. Okay. Four contradictions for that. So called Christian University College. Jesus Christ meets the devil. The devil says I can make you can give you power. I can give you everything is. It's not of this world that you know, my wealth is supposed to come from the world is not enough. So you're supposed to be able to overcome temptation, or bad ideas. So if I don't need somebody who thinks differently than I do or in a different way and have a discussion with him. How can they hear my thoughts? So why are they afraid of hearing all somebody else thinks and believes Secondly, we'll talk talking to you. Secondly, the first point is really really good except it's a Christian university. So they're supposed to actually agree with her this Christian speaker, but go ahead. Yeah. That's what I mean. But just because she doesn't agree. Exactly. What they know. They not even listen to what she has. Christ was radical. So adequate that his own religious organization. Condemned him, right? So there would be no Christian university. These Christians acted like they're acting right now. Certainly the black community as you mentioned is an organization that has been destroyed and decimated by abortion because it doesn't it hasn't it? Physical tech breaking up families is exactly what was going on during slavery. Impulsively Bahir is right. And the abortion movement was started by the Nazis, and a socialist extreme socialist organization in the last thing is this. Said that they advocate exploring abroad aspect of ideas. But if they don't let any ideas, they don't exactly agree with is denying the students change, actually, explore other ideas and analyze it. I love the way. I love the way you broke it down. I think you're exactly right in all four points. I appreciate your brother. Thank you out of Boston tonight, by the way, Rick from Boston called in Kerry to say that he has a picture with Johnny Carson, and that I should be jealous. Yeah. You should go alot. Everybody knows. I was very close with Johnny. Carson. Rest his soul. I'm sorry. Good evening. Thank you, lying again. What fake news asks Jim Acosta, you'll he will verify that. I. Very close. We we at least. And I'll tell you this. I was in as I said L A and like nine hundred ninety eight something like that. And we had breakfast and Malibu taste something right now. I know damn well Johnny Carson was within like five miles radius. Thank you. Thank you. For life friends for life. No, no friends for. It's eight eight eight nine four one pags joepags dot com. Love to hear from you on on this whole idea that a Christian university is like afraid to be Christian Kennedy, Christian speaker who speaking about Christian ideology, I I would love to hear from you on this does I think it's nutsy cuckoo. Also, when we come back is going to be Dr Ben Carson, he of course, the secretary of housing and urban development. Do I call him, Ben? And do I asked him if you framed the.

"Now, he can be one of those guys who says I've worked with Marty in the past. Gray Romano every year. We always appreciate and especially with the Tetons being moved up. Everybody got jostle around. But you make your way and sleep when I'm here. Anyway. So I'm the earlier the better for me. I think I saw some highlights you yesterday you were doing something positive. What was that? Confusing. You someone else threes frame your said freeze frame if it was positive chip one fairly. Well, or was that a maybe are you thinking of your Louis? Well, no, I don't hold out from the bunker where giants hat too nice. Nice touch. Maybe I saw you score one across the green. Is that what? Well, that's that's that's common. Yeah. Yeah. All these years Ray. How many times we made the cut now? This is my nineteenth year. I've made the cut twice. That's great. You before you made the cut to. Yeah. It took me like eleven years before I made the cut once. Yeah. And now, and then I got lucked out three years ago. I got my pro was I get a new pro every year. And normally it's guys I've never heard of. And I had sung king. I remember that never heard of. And I remember at range I met him. And I said I had to Google you. And he said I had to Google you all's fair. Yeah. So who's this shot at the end of the story is the reason I'm mentioning he shot sixty at Monterey. He had. He had a putt for fifty nine. Yeah. That's right. And we made the cut value in this year this year, I got Adam shank, which is one letter away from shank, which is not a good word. One of the worst golf last names of all time. Number one the worse. But good guy. He was he was plus three after ten holes. And he finished minus one. Ooh. Monterey peninsula Monterey. And our team is minus seven so we're we're in a heart. You helped you you four strokes yesterday pitched in is that right? Yeah. I had had a bunch of pars five I had five pars which doesn't sound like a lot. But I get sixteen strokes. So they all add up. Well, you're like me, you know, I'm a double digit handicap. Pars are in these tournaments are so great. Are you following this guy? Dave, it's called club pro guy. Okay. There's a guy out there. He's sort of Twitter phenomenon but he's making it's a parody account. But anyway, the point long story short, he has a clothing line, and one of the t shirts, he has says, Dr you know, those ones that are like has a word period after it list dry period punch out period approach, period. Chip period. Chip period. Net five. It's your Christmas present period. Here's Greg Kinnear. I know those hands. Oh. I know those hands anyway, I recognized the topic Murphy. How.

"That's correct. I'm actually excited about the game. Like, you're not excited. Ballot. Check in McVeigh. That's got an interesting, right. Sure. It's a Super Bowl, and it's the glamour franchise in the NFL. And it's everything that you're saying about McVeigh hold on. I hate this week. You may have noticed that. I ended a little ornery at the start of the show everyone who's been around here knows. I don't wanna go to that sloppy hack fest of radio row where everyone's bent over showing you plumbers, but and you know, nester nasty nesters there and some big dog from Michigan is there, and and there's a big dog from Ireland big dog from Pensacola and a big dog from Georgia. There aren't many people there right now. It's Monday morning. But I assure you that Gil Brandt is right. Gil Brandt, the the former executive is always waddling around haphazardly out there. But what would you guys tell me is we're very poor planners around here. The Super Bowl again snuck up on us, which is why Billy won't have a car while he's there we were surprised by the by the Super Bowl. Hey, look the Super Bowls there. Really like, how am I going to get around? Alison doesn't want to go with Billy anywhere. But she's now when they're moving Richard Pryor someone else like with a shackled to each other. I think feel like there's a movie anyway. Shackled. Yeah. I think I think the prisoners who were shackled to go crazy. I'm not sure. Stuck on you with Greg Kinnear and naming that is a Siamese twin movie. Would be funny griss them to stuck together for the full week we've met Dana and one is menace wife on them on that set. I d- be thrilled to do that. If you guys wanna tape each other to each other like I'd be totally happy with you guys. Wandering around radio road tape to each other. It's not happening. You pay how much you paid to get away from Billy traveling up there tomorrow how much have you? Now, not enough. I should've traveled from a different airport. What are the plans for the Super Bowl Billy who's in charge around here that you? I mean, what do you mean? What are the plans we have guests lined up? We now have confirmed our event happening on Thursday that I'm not gonna say what it is. So that clears up Wednesday. So I can get back to the mayor for Wednesday. We have confirmation that Thursday is happening. Are you wanting to do the mayor thing that for those of you don't know Billy's been invited by someone who lives an hour outside of Atlanta? He's the mayor of this particular Pueblo, and he also hosts afternoon drive there. A big dog. He's probably a big dog. He's probably got plumbers. But. Speaking of which my father recently, this is this has been funny on television on highly questionable. My father loves cliches, it's always getting cliches wrong. That's how it becomes. That's the way. The cookie bounces. And I recently recently he is taken to saying, and and it's totally an accident. So and so instead of cracking the whip so and so is whipping the crack, which is a totally different thing. I heard that the other day I heard it from in here. I'm like, poppy say someone's whipping, the crack it's mixed up cliches. And that's what he says. Now, he comes in here and says who's whip and the crack and it sounds like sexual harassment. Donlevatar I've a friend. He was very early on as great as a great awful story. It's early in the dating process she has to go to the bathroom bathroom overflows with debris stugatz cheese quietly trying to clean it up. He walks up the stairs. And sees her on her hands and knees, they meet is and she immediately begin sobbing Gore's. He's gonna begin sobbing. I would have begun summit. I would've looked up one..
