Well before we go into the into you as always going to listen to some music. And as i said it's time spit of different music this time. It's classical music once again from time to time. You know. that's my background from time to time. I want to do some play some classical music and well here. We are today very special music guy. Believe it's of course related to the show because we're talking a lot of medicine today and even the three pieces i'm gonna play. Today are not declared as hermetic music. They are very much so in a link to the hermetic world so the first piece is a french oregon piece by french. Composer of the twentieth century called jon longley and e as written music organ music in very gothic very very strange sounds very slow and a bit creepy for some but not from e but some people find that music creepy boy whatever. It is very organized. Music restrict very geometric in a way even if he doesn't mention that in his writings but so i think for a show about hermitage system which is basically the main topic of the tobias. Today i thought he would be a good fit. So the first piece we're going to hear is called a number one from eight pius modal modal pieces of bitar to translate if you're not a musician and modalities type of type of scaling music. So a repeal modell hero eight modal pieces and this two very first off by john longley and it's performed by organised in an austrian judge. Actually in small austin truth which has very nice oregon and we're going to listen to that now and often dental. Come back to you and tell you more about by talk with tobias churton and of course thin you'll hear into but for now shara ugly meet. Ps modal newell.

"Correctly debt by annotating the text with references. And then of course maverick uses a lot of French common names for plants etc instead of scientific ones and sometimes he uses even several common names. Different ones for one and single plant. So the translator has simplified Dimaggio by always using one single English common name species and in order to help us with comprehension that hopefully to make good use of it. This first English edition contains also to plant in. This is for six hundred eighteen six hundred eighteen. Blunts that Maverick mentions so. They're all into in this at the end of the book and this is all not only nice addition to the book but it really makes it now. One hundred years after appeared usable and highly interesting for the reader. And for those among you who would also like to use this book for practical work so brace for. This book. Goes to three addresses first and foremost of course to the author Shaw Vic or whoever he was by his real name. He's probably been a doctor himself by the way he criticizes the medical field of his time. You can see that you often also cites other doctors who are also known today only a bath and open minded to natural medicine. This is another hint but he remains a mystery excited to translate during his forwards to call. Maverick the Food Cannella of modern herb list. Yeah that's quite true. We don't know who he was Mr Maverick but he spoke certainly was groundbreaking in its day and it is those groundbreaking texts that remain important for us nowadays and not only as historical textbooks but as a practical advice and handbook for our and your contemporary work therefore second praise goes to inner traditions who took up the published his book and added to a series of important texts from the past that should be known by real practitioners. Let's hope they win. Continuing then paused and bring awareness of important books in different languages also to the large English speaking and therefore also international esoteric community search praise loss but certainly not least goes to our Bailey. Sorry I can't tell you more about him or her but that person remains mysterious in the book notes a little bit like the author himself but he or she is wonderful translator who went much further than just doing translation I explained why about tweets out ever altering the original work or putting himself into foreground but added a perfect new layer to mavericks work. So if you are interested in Hermitage and ALCHEMY INSPIRING STORY PLAN MEDICINE NOR JUSTIN. Good old cult books in general. This book is for all of here. Hermetic herbalism by John Very translated by our Bailey brand new publication by inner traditions. It is worth it chapter two Greg's choice flow sue Greg Kaminsky of a cult of personality podcast and chamber of reflection dot com with Greg's choice before we get to the book review. "A. C. by Swedish cult musician Fratto F. I hope you enjoy die. Think he's music is really very special and it should be known by any serious. Oh cultist okay friends listeners. Let's go now and present four books that we have selected for you today. If I say we I really mean it in that case because for those who are regulars of the shows you already know that I have always friends who are here with me and who present those books but let's go in order and today are present the books two chapters in backward owner to make it a bit you and fresh okay. Chapter four loss of the four book said. You know always in chapter four. There is a twenty minute interview with Audrey also or some person who has a lot to do with. That began the book. We present today is cold early poems by Alastair Crowley yes well most of you do of course know that. Allies decroly has been really prolific poet. And very good poets also and Well I'm afraid is not the Osram going to speak to that would be a sensation wounded. Nobody it's no less very interesting. I can speak to Christiane Julie. J. Kristen J who probably many of you know. An academic and an occultist who has done many interesting were already and he is now creating and you publishing house called. Comrade PRESS SENT. This early poems works to be precise by Elyssa. Croly is the first the first book that has been released by this new publishing house. Comrade Press and I will be speaking to Chris to Christian Judy Jay about this book about the new venture that he has started. Why does that? What will be the aim and I think he has a lot of very interesting things to say about this okay. That was chapter four now. Let's go backwards chapter three. You will meet again with my friend or Sola Salon Jerry who has already presented several books on this show and today she has selected for us a book by asking US Mason. I think many of you have heard the name. Athas Mason does were interested also in the left hand pass in female magic and this book we hear about today is maybe one of the key works by atom. That's Mason draconian ritual book Akopian Movement is very central to work can or slow who is always very invested than very deep into those books. Actually present. Here. She has a lot of things to say about that book. And I think you're going to enjoy that okay. Backwards again to chapter to chapter two will be as always Greg's Joyce who does not know Greg. Kaminsky my good friend and colleague and I also have to pleasure to be with him as co host from time to time on his. Oh cult of personality. Show one of the classics in the PODCAST. At World of the occult world as well Okay and the book that he presents to us. Today is missed. I missed I which has been published about half a year ago by scarlet imprint and the author is Peter Mark Adams. It's already second grade work with called imprint. Miss Tie and if you want to know a little bit more after having listened to Greg and his presentation of that book you can also go to a cult of personality and listened to extensive interview that Greg and I together did with Peter Mark Adams on that book. So it's a review its presentation. But it's also a bit of a teaser for that other interview on a cult of personality. Okay and right now chapter one I will present to you and new book. That's coming out this week actually with inner traditions which is called Hermetic Herbal Ism. It is one of those books That is has been published. One Hundred Years back started. First Time in English language. You'll learn more about it in just a few seconds because now we kick it off and we started with chapter one joins US show chapter one. Inner traditions has from time to time among their new and very often very interesting books. They produce also Idir first English language editions or complete reprints of forgotten classics of Esoteric cult. Books we have for example recently. Seen the hermetic science of transformation by Giuliano crammers which. I spoke about in our January ex-labour sedation as largely overdue first English edition or we had to wonderful reprint off court sailing months mirror of magic in October. Two thousand eighteen to name just two examples now this month. There is a small book that comes out from inner traditions called Hermetic Herbal Ism by Shaw. Very well who is very cure? Going to ask and dry D so because we all don't really know who he was. The name is most definitely in Elias. And All we know about John Kerry is that he was an important member of our chemical and occult circles in Paris India early twentieth century. He was probably a member of a Hermitic to Hermetic School of abuse. Which offered courses on Esoteric Endo called subjects and Shomali? Hake was a teacher dare and he was also a member of the French L. Chemical Society at the time under the name and to underpin name's John Petit was one of them. He wrote about ten books on Astrology. Alchemy and different other. Oh called subjects and some of them are still available in French for those of you who reached at language. It's always worth looking into them. They're really interesting. Maybe the most exotic of those books is called the long title which had translate for you from the original French about the search for people who have disappeared children and animals objects that have been stolen to find the place where they are long title for a panel of paranormal subject. Well and Roger Rare thing in the work list of classical authors on Herman mets the to speak about those phenomenons as well so Jamaica certainly very interesting and open minded person but back to our book. Hermetic Erbil is its original. French title was again translated. Hermetic mets in of plants or distraction of Quinta senses. Body Art of SPAG arisen by the use of those words. Quinta sends and all of that. You already see strong herr medic influence in that book. The original French version appeared in nineteen eleven over one hundred years ago. Okay you could say since then. Many new books on Spaghetti and plant medicine have appeared especially the last twenty years. That's almost become a little trend among practically cultists and practically alchemists in particular so what is so special about John they expect. Well I believe several things first of all the fact that he comes out of the French tradition and is now available. Finally in English practical alchemy has over. The last hundreds of years. Always been something where the French have been. Particularly interested have developed their own schools and style. And they're also particularly good at it. I think this is true actually until today. Also let's not forget John. Brie and his fellow softer material natural philosophers where alchemy and Spaghetti explained. An important grow in their movement in the second half of the twentieth century and we could name many more example. So Maverick represents an important branch of tradition and it is important to take into account if you want to have a good overview on the question but it is also remarkable to what extent maverick. He combines the subject of Chemistry Spaghetti Citra we St Hermetic Arts. It's background this. Book has about two hundred and fifty pages but in it you find a wealth of information and those links between the different subjects. Probably not all new for some of you. Of course many things are put under New Light. Well at least they have been for me. I won't be the only one does take a few examples for name. Soft chapters for example. One is called theory of Astro Medicine in light of the four humorless temperaments or another one mechanical theory of astral vibrations. Those are types of subjects. You do not always normally find in that kind of book. I was not aware personally of the existence of drama America before I received a copy of this you English addition Hermetic herbalism. I read I had of. This text was in English but I do read French. It's almost a second language next to my native German for me so I bought the French. Originals Welland read a few chapters to compare and I must say that this emission is exactly what I expect from a good translation in fact it is more than just a translation memory says in his fringe original for example the habit of constantly referring to other books of himself from his readers thin very much aware of his other books sent his teachings in the formerly mentioned. Study Group. So that wasn't a problem for them. But if today you had just translated word by word you still would have a very interesting and inspiring book but you would miss a lot so instead our Bailey who is given ESA translator of this book into English has done much more than that. When Maverick sites himself Bailey gives us references let us know what Maverick means now that he was in. The original also has many of the French at the time very lazy about citing his historical references ranging through five hundred years back in History Bailey as.

We get a lot of maple have sort of corn out of Gulf look but they still really love the music and I know all the music and then we get young people who dress up to the nines. Yeah Yeah it's a really thriving saying still in London and from what I hear still in Melba Joe. Sorry I. I don't see that much over here. I'm not a specialist in the field but I I don't really see. It has a lot of goal. Probably Germany yes sir. Australia's much more conservative. Well talking about that As a kind of a final final chapter in our talk today a little bit of an outlook into into what UC important and necessary for the law so near future not talking about next week or next five months but in the next ten twenty years what do you think for humankind for for for occultist spot for non occultist just as well. We'll be the most important steps to take care of fun to to look after what I'd like. Which is not what. I think will happen. Maybe maybe say I produced what I'd like is that we understand that we are simply a part of the ecology of your family unknown moralists official than anything else and that if we really do think that was so exceptional spacey's that takes into its own hands. It's aren't extinction and leaves a legacy of creative care for the rest of the. I don't think that's going to happen but nonetheless. You cannot wash benefits story unless you have to have always been you know what he's Rice Ya. The word. What I think is going to happen is so difficult to say because what I think is happening right now on a much. More kind of philosophical level is people having to do a couple of things. Having to learn to live with themselves they earn company without destruction. And this is I hope making them reflect on whether or not they are really more or less important than the rest of the I think that we are becoming aware vow. Earn adaptability and that in the next ten or twenty years the value or the appreciation for adaptability will pay more than the appreciation value power and I think in terms of cultism will iheart. Where definitely can it be saying a lot? More hybrids of these groups a lot more young paper embracing a halt his own as a completely valid practice as at home of live and in the most optimistic quiet will get people to move away from any kind of fundamentalism of whatever you know whether it's political religious or whatever that autism will teach us how to live in a much more kind merrick why. Mike US more accountable at the same time. Because I guess you keep it coming more than you also have to become more accountable because you'd say the ethics of your expressions and how can you bring people Difficult how can you bring people in that direction? I mean how do you teach them maybe to be more creative through that creativity? Make the art that we were speaking about which you actually activism. Well I think I mean we do it in our teaching as I said I was just in Stockholm at a university pipe V to a kyle ritual which. I'm still getting my head around. I think that you know everyone teaches everyone this is. This is a world where you can learn from every person you encounter on. You can teach them salt thing. I think the the relationships we have really have to be about supposedly in symbiosis rather than about power. We have to stop leaving in this very possible. The idea of a you above me over Lauren. Me and can this relationship get me. And that's just I guess BICYC- anti-capitalism but it's also advice of Traditional mysticism and it's basic tenant of anyone cultism practices states that are unlike themselves or that might veal. Unlike themselves. I think instead of this cult of self this polishing himself the idea of becoming unlike one cell phone embracing those elements of alkyl practiced will office. That's why whenever I talk to people about it. I try and encourage just look around raid and try you know. They don't have the the sixteen year old snow'll in. May used to say to rate everything you have to do is just nine. That's gone I don't have that feeling anymore. And what do we have to look out for from Patricia? Mccormick any new books on the horizon or anything that if we survived. I've my next book is going to be on queer activism and I also have been asked to write a sequel to my cinema book because people want me to ride on. I haven't written on cinema and such a long time. That's yes I might be those things bit some. Yes it's hard. Yeah sure but it's still too good things to be on the lookout for an great thank you so much for really inspiring talk and it was very very dense and I'm sure our our audience has enjoyed that. Thank you for being so open and for being so interesting and well have lobbied time and hope that this difficult moments where we have to stay confined will change soon to get togethers will happen soon again then in good health and safety thank you. "But as far as the the differences between the two books for sure there's the five years of living life of Of developing of chaos in those five years and a lot of those things came about in those five years and as I grew with it and as I used it in my own life So it was something that I wanted to clarify the things for people for anyone that is interested in love cows. I wanted to have a book that was very clear for precisely to the point Because a lot out of my work is embraces ambiguity. Lot of my works in fiction. I love writing stories that deal with ambiguity acuity so I wanted to write a book. That was very clear and something that anyone could right. Well there thank you. I think hugh you did well by doing a book For everyone because that doesn't mean that this it is easy an easy read. It is very impressive. I think and I hope many people all kinds of approaches. We'll read it. Thank you for presenting to us today. Laugh Chaos S.. And specially those two books. Thank you for being on cell service today and well good luck for your next work and everything you do. Awesome thank Hugh so much Rudolph. I really really appreciate you. Thank you for having me on the show and being able to talk about this. Thank you so much. Thank you ooh choice hello this is Greg. Kaminsky of the cult of personality podcast and chamber of reflection dot com with Greg's choice to discuss gusts are book today. Which is twenty six gates by Allen Blackwell which is a collection of short stories that I helped Allen Edit and I think it was quite an enjoyable project and it was quite unexpected. So if you will permit me I'm going to read to you from the foreword brief forward that I wrote for the book to just is to give you an idea of my approach in reaction to the project to begin it says. How do I introduce you dear reader to this collection of unusual stories? Perhaps in the same way that I undertook reading the myself with great faith that the author had something unique and mysterious to impart. This mysterious gift is unique. Because it highlights the mystery. And The majesty found in what might might be mundane and ordinary moments of life when considered in the light of time and the Ark of life. You've they take on an extraordinary poignancy. The Great and small questions of Life Ali for all bound up together and inseparable and twenty six gates expresses this through a range of different story story types now. Twenty six gates was not what I expected. From the original conversation conversation I had with the author Alan Blackwell about his vision for the book to the initial. Read through my experience in editing. The texts of this book provided me with a treasure trove of reflective insights into into the human experience my own memories and the universal desire to truly know ourselves. Send our world so these tales are in no way ordinary for. They allow us to question and find answers in unexpected affected forgotten places so when approaching this book when reading it it is is important to be aware of the author's tone and the feelings that each story of Vokes Vokes and I find that memories arise in response and I can only describe the experience of reading. The book is magical in each individual story. God caused a deep contemplation of my own life. Memories in the choices that I've made. I think Alan Alan Blackwell has provided a wonderful text that has the potential to transform the reader through the method. Did of the questions that it asks is the quest for truth to know ourselves. I know the world is all of that really worth it. While the truth may not always be sweet. The journey to discover for it is inevitable and we should embrace with joy and faith. I think that's at least that's what my experience has has taught me and the characters in Alan's stories sometimes struggle with their journey as we all do but they're redemption is available in each and every moment just waiting to be recognized and that's true true for us as well so going through these twenty six gates. I was repeatedly impressed with the impact. Acted the stories. It was really a pleasure for me to work with Allen as he developed his book. And I'm very grateful for that opportunity. Unity and again. I think if you approach this book with Care You will find that there are mysteries stories revealed in and in between the words. Now that said I believe that working with Alan to edit the book and bring forth his vision it was really tremendous experience because it allowed me to observe his growth as a writer and his ability to express himself become more clear and lucid. And so that was was that was really gratifying for me as an editor and I also feel that. This book is interesting being because it's not standard a Colt Fair. It's not about history. It's not about practices worth ores any type of theories What it is is an and and I don't really know this for a fact but it seems to be like semi biographical short stories that take inventory of the character's situation and progress within life and within the human realm? It's it's really quite interesting interesting and I find my when I read them. It brought me to a very quiet reflective place that I really liked and was able to do that with an. You're very immediate. Sort of polling you right into the the the story the scene so I think this is a really wonderful effort from Allen and I would encourage people to read this book. It's a short read but it's one that leads I said will evoke all sorts of memories and allow you to consider not only what's written and wooded conveying but how that relates to you and your own life and I think those types of stories are really eh worthwhile because living an unexamined life ultimately ultimately doesn't provide the ground that produces transformation and growth. Both which I believe is our purpose in many ways so again again. It's not an impartial review by any standard. But I highly recommend twenty-six Gates by Allen Blackwell. I think you'll enjoy Viet- very much and I look forward to future writing from Alan. Because I believe the based on this that his his future as a writer is quite bright Uh Chapter.

"Better. Here comes the interview. We repeat of GIO cult of personality intro music. This will be finally beginning of the interview, Wisconsin mccoubrey part two. If you have not yet done, so I strongly advise you go to cult of personality webpage that he's Okocha of personality dot org. And listen to the first part there and then come back. But of course, you can also start here and the other way round that's all up to you. The into you. Here will be in two parts of about thirty minutes with another piece of music in the middle. Gabrielle McCaffrey is to founder editor publisher and contributing writer to an Thema pillars. Occult periodical. Gabrielle has fully overseeing the creation and publishing of several well respected is Teri titles, including Craig Williams and drink the desert and cult of Golgotha. At pilgrim in the mystery tradition. Brielle is deeply fascinated with all subjects relating to accuse me Herr medicine and the nameless. RT he walks to pass of Lucifer area NAS tick. His systemic. I'll be very person customized approached to practice and devotion stems from a profound love. Rory is Brielle McCaffrey's first published script at Thome which correlates directly with an Seema's publishing mandate along with his unique views and methodologies on a chemical bookmaking. This is very much a continuation in the spirit of his previous contributions to pillars called periodical and elsewhere. But within aurorae these concepts are fully developed an actualized. Here. Come Greg Kaminsky and myself interviewing Gabrielle McCaw Frey. Gabriel. I'd like to ask I don't know this may seem an odd question. But I think you describe yourself in your work as Lucifer Burien. And. I'm curious if you could talk more about that in the reason, I ask is because. Historically. Yes. Alchemy is really in my from my perspective. It does not adhere to those sorts of full philosophical precepts. I mean, and I could be wrong 'cause I I may see it differently than you. But I see loose affair. Ian is where that idea as a philosophy. That's promoting the self. Power of the self and a certain level of rulership in the material realm. In just sort of going back to the initial story of Lucifer's fall from heaven. That's in many ways, really the story of of being who who left that domain in order to be sovereign in in another domain, essentially. It's almost like, you know, casting out the. The newness or the on manifest in favor of the material or materialism, and an I'm curious how that meshes with the Al chemical process which historically again in. This may not be your take on it or your experience, but historically as more of like, a unmaking of the self and removing boundaries and separations not to reinforce the self. But to sort of lose the self in in the unmanifested altogether. So the boundary between manifest and unmanifested solve the boundary between self and whatever else dissolve in order to sort of greater to be born the lesser must die off sort of approach. And I'm just very curious. How you take on things is congruent or oppose to that. Or or how it fits all fits together? All right. Well, again, a suit what amazing question Super Bowl the question. And one of a no always new from the get-go that I would get asked so much show that you know, like, it became a recurrent theme often when I when I speak about it, and in Allah, I was always like with almost at some point thinking about. Well, okay. If ever one day, I get to say you presentation or something like that. At a conference or any type of event it could be interesting to to kind of give my own take on what? Could because I'm not gonna say is or I'm not gonna be go insane. I I hold the truth about this. So not should but say could be. What what I seen it? How I see this force if you tweak any older. But. You're you're absolutely correct in what you just told me. I just wasn't a us enough to. Noted down altogether. But you can remind me by like wealth try, but I do believe at one point. I believe that's important mansion as well. Indeed, the work I found is Louis Vernier and. I do detest willing label on say what I would call myself. I know I do for lack of of any other alternative, I guess. But you know, I'm not this one thing. This other thing Norris. Anyone just this one thing? And you know, I believe that's ludicrous. Because also it's not a I on. I knew for fact that it's not natural movement. It's not a group necessarily will. They are. But I found that there's growth misrepresentation from overly disappointed with how not only is this procedure. But how usually it is presented as well. So I'm completely against dark, plus and any type of. Self Aikman dice men through that. So you're not completely wrong saying that if we have to stick to the modern representation of was Bernie them than indeed, it would fall in a precisely into everything you've just mentioned, which is also the for the formation or misinformation about what is or what is not the left at say. For instance, again, I'm not a super expert on the field. But from what I do know. And for what I when I presented in Maya book is to be like, a very solid on the fact that this work is not at all. Neither is sorely right hand bat, nor is it necessarily arrest in packs because I believe this dichotomy between the two in front to knows this with a capital g so I'm just like I'm not taking in or oldest question. Now, some people would argue that just like the way I went at it. And some of the terminology us absolutely puts mean that gotta gory. That's that's fine. With me. If if the file means it is the case. You know? And yes, I must say that. If if typically speaking if the right hand, Pat has warranted you with orthodoxy bit more to do with. Meal establish religion as a waste do it. And to go at it. You know, when dogma than of force, it's perhaps not my Cup of tea for sure. But but in the in a sense that I've always been somewhat, you know, swimming, upstream, and yes, and I have this seems like this rebellious black flame within that. As this Inara need to question everything and to again to go back to this better know, myself, or you know. So this for me, I don't see the south as being this, all encompassing. I don't see the south as being this zoning me this early. And then grad is when of eagle that's now. I the for me the south and say something like the all is the same thing for me. I do realize though that the soften the all will dissolve has this sexual need to kind of step rated self from the all
