Greg, before we get into the game and the film breakdown, just a couple of things outside of the game that I wanted to ask you about. First, we had the quick embrace in the postgame between Belichick and Brady. And I feel like the Belichick haters were lining up to kill him because all it was a two second hug, but then we found out that Brady and Belichick met for 15, 20 minutes in the Tampa Bay locker room area on disclosed room. And it seemed like it was a pretty good meeting. Just your thoughts on that meeting and why it happened when it happened. Yeah, Nick, I don't know if I said it on here last week or I don't know, I did a bunch of interviews last week. So I'm not sure where I said it, but basically I hit the I hit the double factor with the I thought that there would be a half hug and brace on the field and I did mention that I thought there would be a behind the scenes meeting possibly in the Buccaneers locker room. Now I didn't have any insight information on that. It's just normally the way things go. So that's what I expected. I didn't expect anything huge on the field, just, you know, good enough, you know? Like, you know, love you bro see you later. And the locker room thing, it's not a big deal to me. I've seen Bill do that before, whether she's met with coaches, assistant coaches, other players. I've seen him do it before. A handful of times. So that he did that is not unusual to me. I think it's good that they got that time together. By themselves and, you know, I assume it was, you know, there's really in the visiting locker room at Gillette, there's a is basically like one doorway that leads to the training room and where the coaches get dressed and stuff like that. So there's plenty of space back then there for them to have a little private conversation. I assume I bet it was held in the training room since it was it seemed like it was pretty late in the night where most of the guys were gone and on the buses and Brady had that he went straight from there to his press conference. So that things went down the way it does not surprise me at all. I think that's par for the course. It's good that it happened. And I think it gives everybody sort of a clean departure from here that everybody can move on. It gives them the closure. They finally had some person a person closure with what's happened over the past year plus. The second thing quickly, there is this tip for tat happening between Belichick and Seth wickersham. You talked about Seth last week, you are friends with Seth. You respect work. You trust in his work. Belichick on Greg hill yesterday said that he doesn't even think he's ever spoken to wickersham. When I went into it, I wanted you to, uh, fielding ones and two at the plate and end up being three in the field one at the plate with the Grand Slam. I think if I had to do it over again, I'd get rid of maybe the game ending trip play, and I would have replaced that with like an inside the park home run on a walk off, which could be more exciting potentially than a walk off Grand Slam. I'm trying to think back to the games against the Diamondbacks this year. The only the only thing that really sticks out to me about the games against the Diamondbacks. I was a little surprised that game ending Trump play came in last place easily last place with under 5% of the vote. I thought it would get a little bit more than that, because quite honestly, that would be the rarest of the rare of the All these are very rare events, but the game ending triple play. Triple plays are so rare in their own right. I mean, a normal season, maybe again 234 across major league baseball at the most. It seems like so I'm surprised game ending triple play easily. Was the was in last place that we had a two way tie for second or third, however, you want to look at it. The walk off home run being robbed by an outfitter and the three bases loaded strikeouts. And then, as people continued to just relive the Vogel back, pinch it walk off Grand Slam. It is the runaway winner. At close to 70% of the vote on the most exciting way to to win a baseball game. I thought this was going to be a little bit closer. Clearly I was wrong. If I would have gotten rid of game ending to play and put inside the park home run and walk off inside the Parker. Maybe that would have changed things up. Maybe that would have gone a few more votes. If I would have left the poll open for a little bit longer. Maybe that would have changed things up. And if he would not have been playing as deep that he would have never been able to get to it just because of the exit velocity, But he was playing way deep and he went and brought that one back. I still think the greatest walk off in the history of the organization is the Ryan Braun Grand Slam in 2000 and eight that was in what the 10th inning and They needed that win to get into the postseason. That's that. That's one of the biggest hits in the history of the organization. I think that is the greatest walk off. "Low rates disappear. That's C U N e t dot com Here is Number three. About four. Attend a couple quick ones for you. This one is a bigger topic, but I want to just Get it out there because it's something I'm going to spend some more time on on future shows. And we've seen over the last couple decades. This push West people flocking to Western states, Texas and California and New Mexico and other places. And I've said over and over again. I think its pursuit of you know, quieter weather, although that's been disproven by the crazy whether we've seen over the last few years, um, just warmer. Lot of conversation about better schools, lower taxes. I get all that stuff and that that's always going to be a driver for one's decision. Where to live, or where to raise a family that that's all good and I completely understand it. But the thing that's not getting enough attention on this is the fact that When you look at the water, the fresh water supplies Their dwindling rapidly. For whatever reason, the climate has warmed up, and I'm not going to get into a big Climate warming debate here. It is changing the dynamic in the in the Western states, the United States. Colorado River Lake Mead. Many of these resources that provide fresh water for significant parts of the West. Are drying up. And when you look at this story It doesn't get enough attention. Because above Having a decent and steady supply of power, and we've talked about Texas and how their inability to control that Having fresh water to drink. Bathe in to cook in or cook with. It's gonna be a big issue. Like need. 35% of what it was 20 years ago. I think the other one is Lake Powell. Where they're having now to tell people You've got to conserve. Car washes and watering ones. Lawn going to live in a desert? Probably not a good idea to have a green law. Especially when you're struggling to meet the needs of the people who Just want to drink that water or cook in that water. So it's a story to watch. And you know, everywhere from Texas to California. This is going to be a story that's going to require Significant cooperation in the interesting part on the politics side is, Will states be willing to cooperate? And here's the big ask As it happened. It hasn't happened yet. But at some point, you know Somebody's going to make that request. Hey, great legs states. All that fresh water you've got you've had record Levels of Lake water. Can we borrow some or buy some? You know what the answer should be? No. You choose to live where you live. If you over populated areas that can't sustain for a lot of different reasons. Whether that's power or water. Probably not the best decision you can make, and I'm not condemning those states. But you've got to start thinking about this stuff. And when you're making decisions on where to live factor that into the equation, and I think I'm correct on this. I think California lost population for the first time in a long time. There's a reason why that's happening. And some of it might be water and finally to wrap the four at 10. Got to talk about this. "Radio. Let's face it, Uh, in terms of doing things unconventionally. The Pats have almost always been resistant to that. Yeah, they're veteran head coach feels very comfortable playing veterans and You know, for 20 years, you just had to wind up. Tom Brady was incredibly self motivated. He would set the tone in practice. He would command the huddle on game day, and Belichick could at least do everything else he needed to do without really worrying too much about the quarterback spot. This is very different you've got, you know, at least coming into the season. He's had a good camp, so it's kind of maybe changing the perception but coming into the summer A bit of a broken down Cam Newton and a little bit of an unknown in terms of you know Matt Jones, who certainly flashed in Alabama. But still, you know, not quite the the skill set of the portfolio or the The The excitement of a Trevor Lord to some of the other kids that got drafted early on, doesn't mean it can't be a star just means they're going through this in real time. They might also be considering Playing both guys. Yeah. Which to me is the exact opposite of the Patriot way before we dissect if we agree, or if it could actually happen. Let's hear from the coach. Here's Bill Belichick on platooning the most important position in sports. The specific questions like that are really, really hard answer. I mean, here's what I always say. Okay, whatever it is, they can blow through the break where they can. They can mix two segments together. There's a lot of ways to sell that package that locally. What 26 minutes so He's got to give you something, and, you know, I'm sure he's got an affinity somewhat for the people for. I don't know if it's just Greg or whomever else you know is on there, but he's not going on with people He doesn't trust. He's not going to have people who doesn't like so he's probably gonna give them a little bit more than a bunch of anonymous, faceless voices on zoom or in, you know these press conferences where he doesn't feel compelled to give him a damn thing. The question. Forget about how he answered the question. Do you think we could actually see a split? Quarterback situation for the Pats this year. Well, first of all, you got to give credit to Josh McDaniels because both of these guys are playing like they should be starters. You know what I mean? So it's that's that's a luxury that you just don't have. You know these other quarterbacks situations that we've detailed whether it's the Bears. There's you know, some growing pains are going to happen with Justin Fields. Whether it's by the way, how about the hit The fields took my face right on the right at the right of the chin. And so watching his name on? I think it was on Instagram. It's me. It was like it was like, and Justin Fields is dead because he just got drilled, like untouched, drilled unabated as this. Yeah, exactly right right under the chin is right, So, but that's not like a Ideal situation of Justin Fields starts, but Andy Dawn it's not ideal. Same thing with Denver because Teddy Bridgewater maybe is not going to elevate you as much He's going to be safe. But drew lock is going to be a problem solved. He looks like he's he's The part and then you throw in Mac Jones, who picked it up, like like like it was his job to study it for, you know, a midterm exam or something, but he's got it all down. Pat gets rid of the ball quickly. He looks smart makes good decisions. So they have the luxury. Now the answer your question. Do I see them taking turns? No, not at all. Not unless Cam Newton is Some kind of runner which we know he doesn't want to be. Because Mac Jones has to be the quarterback. You know what I mean? Like? Yeah, Knock it out. They're gonna match Flex that run. Exactly. So running the RP. Oh, yeah, He's gonna He's gonna throw the ball. I think it's just a disservice to continuity. To do that, because all it's going to take is a couple of bad. Like inter iterations of that before the team starts saying, What the hell are we doing? Or before? Either one or both loses real momentum that they had over the summer. That's exactly what I tend to agree with you. I don't think it's going to happen. I think if there were More not answers this summer. Maybe you kind of throw things in the blender and say, All right, you know, we got to do what we gotta do. The only thing that gives me pause here, let's face it. I know the Cam doesn't want to run at that much by the way the other night or less game. Which would have been last Thursday. I think it was he had four completions of 20 plus yards and more. I mean, so you to Your point is throwing the ball down the field much. Maybe short happened. Guys. Last year was ugly. Um and Cam probably doesn't want to lower the pads and get knocked around and take a beating. But Let's face it. It's a Calvin's world out there on Sundays, and the Patriots don't have a long term investment in Cam Newton. So while Cam might not want to run and get battered and bruised up, the Pats might be saying stuff. If we got to get first downs, and you can do this is what we're gonna do, but it's almost like they don't need them in the one really the big positive from the Patriots. This preseason has been their run game. Right there. Somebody Michelle and Damien Harris and James White is there and the kids. They just drafted the fourth round RA Monday. Stevenson. They're all bawling. I mean, they ran for, I think close to 200 yards and the preseason Now it's just a preseason game and get four rushing touchdowns or whatever it may be, um and last year despite being back of the league and total yards They were top five and rushing offense. So when you run the ball that well, it gives you options at quarterback. You don't need the world beater at quarterback when you when you're running the ball, and this isn't traditional.

Erin Jones missed some time with some hamstrings and AJ Dylan's been healthy. But Cailan Hill has been the guy that's been getting some of those reps in place of Erin Jones. When he has been able to go. He's played really well. He's proven himself. He's caught some balls out in the backfield. He's going to touch down in each of the preseason games now, so I think he's stating his case to be that third running back behind the Big two of Erin Jones and a J Dillan and the Packers need that. I mean, we obviously saw that in years past, they'll use a bunch of those guys. Spot. So Yeah, he's been impressive for sure. What are some areas of concern for you Special teams. Okay, it got to tackle its continued big time returns, its continued issues and coverage, And this isn't just this preseason thing This is dating back to last year. I feel like every year when we talk about the bugaboo for the Green Bay Packers. The strong point is Mason Crosby, right. He's always been terrific in terms of field goal, kicking butt coverage on punts and kicks. Kickoffs has been a horrific For years now, and JK Scott has been on and off at punting. So when I think about weaknesses of the football team, it's that and then it's piecing together the offensive line until you can get healthy because you look at David Box er. He's still suffering from that knee injury that he suffered on New Year's Eve last year, So he's not going to be back for week. One. Probably not anyway. And you're dealing with a rookie center and Josh Meyers, and there's just going to be some growth there when you're a rookie trying to adjust to the NFL, So when I think about things that I'm concerned about come week one, it's special teams coverage. And then it's Kim. We get five offensive lineman that can mess soon enough to get by and protect Aaron Rodgers in the first week, two weeks, three weeks of the season. Do we know how long it's going to be before David Bach carry comes back? I think they're outstanding Left tackle. Yeah. I mean, you think about a C L is right. So he tore it on New Year's Eve. That's generally speaking. 10 to 12 month injury and I'm not a doctor. But let's say conservatively, let's let's expedite and say he can get back in nine. That's early September, which is when the season starts. Do you want to rush him back for that first month of the season? Or would you rather have him healthy for the Super Bowl? Push that we know is coming After everybody stays healthy for this team, I would choose the latter. I think they want to stay cautious. So maybe October optimistically, and that means you have to get through a month without it. Do you think that not having him at the important position of left tackle could alter the Packers game planning when it comes to what they do on offense? Sure. Yeah, I think so. I think it's a lot of quick hitter passes because you don't want Aaron Rodgers, you know, running for his life back there for the first month of the season, knowing that it's not a sure fire that is blind side is going to be protected. So I think the Packers always you do a good job of getting the ball out. Quick and Matt LaFleur scheme has a lot to do with that. It's not a lot of seven step drops. Let me hang back here for three seconds and let's let somebody get 60 yards downfield. "Com, But now let's get to the Brady it today. So when you brought that up earlier, what Tom Brady accomplish how do you think what he did this year now affect other quarterbacks and seeing what he didn't trying to mimic it? I think it's even bigger than football at this point, because we're seeing Tom Brady at age 43 LeBron James at age 35. I believe at the time because he turned 36. I believe December 30th or so it's weird that I know these things. But we see guys sort of change teams and instantly find away based on their experience, their plethora of experience, you know, building and creating and winning championships. And so I feel like now as we're watching that happen. You're going to see a lot of big moves. What happened after LeBron James and that got a D wanted championship. Guess what? James Harden. Sort of got that LeBron James Ich and was, like, all right, let me not waste my You know, last you're next few years in the association, and now we have a big three in Brooklyn. And now when, when it comes to the NFL and watching in Super Bowl 55 Tom Brady win. He mean as much as he won m v P Super Bowl M v P. We talked about how important the defense was. We talked about how important the staff was. And how that was a such a cue for their success. And so I think everyone around the league is taking notes and like, Hey, we get the right pieces around me and I provide some kind of value and I might be a little bit younger. We could make a run at a title, too. And so I feel like now that's the mindset that a lot of players are are having especially going into this crazy quarterback off season is and I think it's important to note. The difference is also just Tom Brady walked into the situation different time in his career. Contractually, he was at a point where he could go and sign with Tampa. He could take a little bit. As in that situation is gonna be a lot different than Shawn Watson era Rogers and now Russell Wilson. Even speaking out about this, It might not buy you your way out at this point, Necessarily. We'll wait and see on that. But it could buy you a little more influence. We've already got cautionary tales like Carson Wentz, where you might overplay your hand. It raises questions about Belichick. It just does. I know that Grady left the cupboard bare and made that argument. I always thought it was more Belichick. I was sure it was more Belgian. But now I have to admit I have to wonder. Clearly, I wasn't giving Brady enough credit, but he just won the Super Bowl in year one. Now. Where? The bucks loaded? Yep, sure work everywhere. You look they were loaded. Okay? Did he leave the cover bare for? Belichick was coaching under very difficult circumstances and still did a nice job. Seven and nine. Yes, he did. We don't have 1000 seasons to play out to sea run perfect experiments to see who was who. This is pretty much as good as you could ask for Brady's on a new team Bellatrix coaching without him. And by the way, if anything, the coach had the advantage. When the coach is older, he should still be good. Brady's 43. So the answer does this affect politics? Legacy legacy? The answer is, yes. "Whatever he came to the team one of his big things was was only that was given back to the community. I think they really started, you know, one of the things that he started as an owner with that team wage at my rookie year was he put into guys contracts into our contracts that we had to do ten appearances a year, you'll unpaid appearances and off and you you know now I think there are guys that probably didn't get all Tim. But but it was just there was that emphasis on really getting back into the community and and not being out and and I think as a young player forced to do that you kind of learn you didn't really know why you were doing it at the beginning because you just you were new, you know, you're a rookie to every thing and but then after you got to go got going to a couple of appearances and you realize that wow, the impact that you have as a pro football player and what it means to wage. You know the fans and the people that see you you realize that that making these appearances really had had an effect in a lot of people's lives in different ways that requirement that was made early in my career really made me into you know, someone that really enjoys doing that a lot of times you I think the whole thing is that you end up getting more from it than what you actually give to it. And I think that's the the important takeaway from from doing things, you know from giving back to the community is that you said you had a really getting more from it and and the long run following a little my good friends as this guy Greg Hill. He's on he's got the Hillman Morning Show now, it's on we back then it was on WAAF and I would call in the show sometimes and and just say ask him what was going on. And this one time this one morning. I was calling they were promoting this month. Already hockey game up at Lowell at the Tsongas Arena and it was I think it was the benefit. Maybe it was the benefit like the Worcester Firefighters cuz back, you know, 99a had that really bad fire in Worcester that he was always a big supporter of of that of those families and everything and His Radio partner on there was this guy Lyndon Byers who was used to play for the Bruins and he goes goes a Mac. So you you ought to play with us and I said and I was just joking around I said I said, yeah, I could play I played I didn't Greg goes. Well Max I happen to know that you have never put on skates in your life, which is which was true. And I and I said I said, yeah, I'm an athlete. I mean I can do you know, that's no big deal and it goes there like so you are you kidding. They like locked me down right there and they said so are you committing to play in this game? I'm like God you give me some skates, you know, let me go out, you know, I'll learn how to do it before I pick I think it was like a couple of weeks away. No turning back after that day. So I went out and played that game and I mean I could barely I think I skated actually end up skating twice before I went to that game went and played this game and then Greg from c n be playing this game and it was you know, it.

I would have never even known about that. Unless you said that you were involved with NFL uniform inspecting. So I think that's super cool. "Who is live at five, sir form. Tonight's game was played at Little Caesars Arena that the only place little Caesars tastes good is at the arena. I know that from experience a wire to wire win for the Milwaukee Bucks a triple double for Johannes. And the final score it really not indicative of the way tonight's game went on. The bugs held a double digit lead for the bulk of this game pushed it to 20 Plus and Detroit made a little bit of Iran coming back in the fourth quarter. To make the final score cosmetically, perhaps more appealing on their end, But nonetheless, the Bucks wrap up this two game road trip with a second victory.
