Tensions Overshadow NATO Meeting Intended as Show of Unity

"Start start with the ongoing NATO summit here in the UK it is meant to mark the seventieth anniversary of the military alliance bought. Disagreements have threatened to who over shadow celebration Robert. The summit began yesterday with us. President Donald Trump's attack on French president Mo mccraw as micro had earlier called NATO brain debt. What did you make a fuss? Well trump absolutely played to His his his absolute he. He was big completely consistent in that he likes strong men who he thinks like him and and he hates rivals. That's the crudity of it but I'm macron has come in for something of a beating not only for trump but also from the German leadership suggesting somehow the could be a displacement or replacement or winding down in Europe European security of NATO building up the defense component payment of the European Union e. e. d. u. and the other things that are which which Germany is not prepared to accept. It's not prepared to accept by the way also the NATO. I told him that they go up. Two percent of GDP. They say ten twelve years off that by the way if they were to do it tomorrow. That'd be the third military power in the world but the engagement with Russia is really terribly. Terribly important McCall the Italians particularly to say we must engage h with Russia You know that despite everything. It's a pity that the the the the NATO arrangements have really gone into neglect. The and this has enraged. Of course the new eastern part but cotton us of of NATO. There is real substance to this route. But I don't want to take cap the conversation dominated but actually there is more to macron's argument than the he's been given credit for. Let's talk about Russia moments bus but Carol s Robert mentioned our there are big questions now weaving the NATO over the future of the alliance over money also over Turkey's behavior do you think the summit in the UK. We'll find any solutions. I think this summit will be an attempt to paper over the cracks. I think they want to try and put on a show of unity. We've had the British prime. I'm Minister Boris Johnson. Arriving saying that it is one for all all for Juan and Jens Stoltenberg secretary general saying it's the most successful swill alliance in history because we've changed. The world has changed but I think the problem is that it hasn't sufficiently adapted to the changing attitudes. It's a some of its key players. that comment from President mccraw about NATO being brain dead was because he's looking at NATO which is after all a political as well as a military alliance you have now got in the American president trump. Someone who has questioned America's engagement in the alliance in the past that he's now saying he's committed a to it you have had Turkey which didn't even consult key NATO allies before waded into Syria. And what you've got now. Is this alliance that was constructed to join the the end to try and confront the Soviet bloc during the Cold War which hasn't hasn't really worked out what it strategic purpose is now and although there's a lot of talk now about what the attitude to will be with China but it will be towards sabree threats and so on it hasn't really worked out a new overall strategic direction and I think that's what President Macron was referring to so robots looking looking at this strategy and what NATO's functioning at the moment is there any agreement between the states member states over who or what is the the biggest threat at the moment is it is terrorism or what. Now this is This is high theology which has been around. I was at the think-tank forum-goer I'm Greg Cote engagement NATO. Yes Day and it was very interesting by the way how was generation split that a lot of young people. They had a lot of the debates. Only open people speaking from the floor if they are under thirty five sons a bit mad bit work but it was terrific. It was terribly important and you saw really. What a fundamental difference was? This is an an enormous area of debate. And you're absolutely right in your question and I'm going to illustrate it. Only with one anecdote with three prime ministers in succession on the stage together together with Justin Trudeau and marketer of the Netherlands are absolutely accomplished uric euro performer Ruta. But before him it was the extraordinary absolutely straight out of Borgen Earner Solberg of Norway. NSO book was asked to consider the whole scenario Korea. Russia the works they know about what is your greatest strategic threat. The melting of the Ice Cap Justin Trudeau was hopeless. He was absolutely his mother. The Sun was Apple Pie and hugging trees. Where really were ready for piece? Actually in fact he did down what the Canadians have been doing in Syria left Galveston than Don don good fighters most intriguing was Huta. You thought he would be the most accomplished God talk about a snake oil salesman. He would not put what his hand up for anything. Not even a commitment for about the second or third richest country in the EU a NATO putting its hind in its pocket to go to two few percent of GDP. He said No. We're not going to do it so that tells you where we are. There is a fractured leadership on generation. Lines absolutely what. Carol Carol said it. It's going to hold together for the time being but to come back to macron Laura detail in all seriousness. He did awesome very important questions because the foundation is a union of Democracies and Turkey. Certainly doesn't look much like a democracy to most of the allies now. Let's look at the dynamics between the NATO elitist. There's a newly released video that seems to show Justin Trudeau. Boris Johnson. Emily mccraw Make Fun of Donald Trump. Are they ganging up on him. Will it was some wonderful footage. which any of our listeners could probably find fairly easily with a a quick search on the Internet of them the reception at Buckingham Palace and they do seem to be poking fun at trump for waiting in with his own little impromptu news conference yesterday? I think we shouldn't shouldn't make too much of that specific incident but I think that what he does is show this This real concern that there is is on the suspicion of where from really is on this We know that he doesn't really like these. Multilateral organizations we know that he's he's been hugely critical of in particular many of the European members of NATO not putting sufficient funds and sufficient resources into the NATO part. He's been very critical of that. He seems so far on this trip to have been on his best behavior. Trying going to say that trying to stay out of the UK election which is something that the conservatives who are battling away with polling day just a week or so away now he he pulled back from waiting too much into the election campaign he has kept his comments. Pretty supportive of NATO. But I think when you saw that little Vignette of the other world leaders apparently mocking trump underlying that is all these big doubts about whether trump's halt halt really still is in the NATO alliance you're a detachment didn't become with trump Obama hugely popular in Europe with far more eurosceptic. Almost the for P people around trump. I think it's terribly healthy. That McCall and Boris and Justin Trudeau chatting away. They all mate actually the the the interesting intelligent womb people. And that's a great thing. It's great for my country Britain. Whatever you say about Boris and I know him well he does engage? They like talking to him and he was having a sip of champagne even though he'd promised he wasn't going to touch a drop of drink until brexit assault. It just just finally before we move on. Obviously we have to talk about how trump's visit is reflected in the UK politics right before general elections. So so Carrie. What is interesting is that we haven't seen that many photos of trump and Johnson together this time for example? Have we know extraordinary. The lengths to which Downing Street has gone to to try to prevent photos of President trump and Boris Johnson. buddying up together and when you think about previous visits of. US The president's it is really quite extraordinary but the backdrop to this is that Boris Johnson's opponent Jeremy Corbyn one of the central themes of his attack on the Conservatives is that we're going to get a trump style US UK trade deal if the Conservatives win on that will push up drugs prices in the National Health Service and it's going to cost us all hundreds of millions of pounds every every week now the conservatives have flatly denied that they flatly denied the NHS will be affected in any future trade deal. But the problem is that in the the UK trump is not exactly a popular figure. And I think the conservatives who are ahead in the polls at the moment no that if Boris is seen to be using using up too much to his old friend Donald that is not gonNA play well with the British Electric. And that's why even though they did meet in Downing Street last night there were no pitches the two of them together.

"To Janet from crews songs dot com. Kokomo is number ten. Reggie, you're on with Ron McGill zoo Miami. Go ahead. Reggie. Hey Ron, I don't know if he's like a week or so ago. There's like a swarm of bees like Padres game. It seems like this happened once or twice a summer what causes all these beads to, like, suddenly be they're swarming around at a game. And like, what are they have to do to get rid of 'em? Thanks. Well, what they're usually doing their as following the Queen Queen is going somewhere to relocate. It just happens to be. She may have landed in the stadium someplace and all these all these worker, bees are following that Queen getting ready to establish another hive. It just happens to be. She is nothing in particular might have drawn to that area, except maybe some heat or some smell or something. But generally speaking, she just flying to find an area where they can start a new hive and all those other bees are following her to get those bees out of there. You gotta find that Queen and move around, and they will follow. Number nine Stu got three little birds. Ron follow up on the bees. Do you totally dismiss the idea that there's a chance that maybe the bees just wanted to have an outing? Yes, I totally do. Number eight. Miami. Right. If we can clone animals like sheep and Beezer and danger. Why haven't we been able to clone B's yet? It's not a matter of, of cloning animals to, to, to have it exist. How do we keep it alive? Why are the bees dying? Is it gonna make any sense to clone animals? It's just going to die. They're having these, these these, you know, these colonies just wiped out and it's just that's what we have to find out what is killing the bees. It's not a matter of getting them to reproduce. What is killing the bees? So certainly, you know, Coney might be something, the thing about in the future, if something's actually becoming endangered. But if can't keep it alive, once it's there. What's the sense, but Ron humans have outings? So do you know for a fact that a B would never want to have an outing? I don't know. I fact. Number seven to don't worry be happy. Ron is there something the Padres could have done differently. They could have had a beekeeper come out the other day. They came out and just killed a bunch of bees, just killed them. And I'm wondering how that situation can be handled because nobody wants to be sitting in a baseball games about around being right? Well, first of all, people are swimming all these, these route the sting, you really don't want anything to do with you. If you look at people like beekeepers go in there, many of them don't even wear protective clothing, and they transferred the bees, without ever, getting stung, the keeping to move the Queen, I think, in that situation where we're talking about, you know, public, safety or public perception of safety, and they didn't have the time or the money at the time to hire. Beer beekeeper to get into look for the Queen and move it out. And you know, you're got players out there that are making 'cause billion dollars a day, and you're paying them to wait for Easter move. So they had to get that of quickly as possible, number six guts, Southern Cross. You're on with Ron McGill of zoo Miami, go head Jose. Hey Ron, my daughter has become anonymous advocate like they once you really dislike with the roaches, Jess stop eating meat do through watching videos on YouTube. How do I get my daughter? How do I get my daughter's head that eating meat is healthy for human and for humanity because, you know, animals are going to overtake if we don't eat? Well, I don't think that's too, that animals are gonna overtake if we don't eat meat. What I was just to her, and I understand her reasons for not eating meat. There's a lot of the meat that we harvest isn't harvested in the very humane way, I think if she starts to understand the circle of life, and I understand that they're going to be listening who are vegans vegetarians. They're going to just lashed out at me. But I also believe that animal protein is a normal part of our diet..

"Maybe don't what God knows to carefully people might talk. Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe. Join us in a moment that Kellen Winslow story is so creepy and awful that no one is equipped to talk about it publicly like you don't see anything on television other than he might go away for life, and it's just baffling before we get to Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe, though, Greg Cody, again was clipped by the hard network out. He was mad. He was upset about it because he said is nothing sacred. He really said that as we clip them because he thinks his learning of two different kinds of hose. It's something that requires elaboration and he insisted on doing it here. So go ahead. I'll be quick. We all know about the standard whole used for tilling soil and so forth on the farm and elsewhere, there's something now called an active ho that has a blade in as us more for digging. Like if you were trying to uproot dying lawn grass, you would use an. Active ho because it digs. It doesn't just till it digs. So you have a hope you have an active hope both wonderful products. That's an example where technology is a good thing, because the act of ho of used it barred it from my neighbor, and it's a godsend changes your life. Glad we clipped you put it on the poll, Guillermo does the active hotel chains your life. Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe in with us from last night's game. And that one was great. Bob, just with the floor is yours. Tell me all the interesting things that you loved about last night's game. While the first thing I loved was the fact that it was decided that way that late that when, when the raptors stiff it down with about six minutes ago. They suddenly get the ten straight points. I'm going to stay quiet all of them at these data ten, I think he and now they're about six and I would equivalent this equipment to a wrestling that got to shoulders that got the counter to it got the they got the way. Your shoulders to the mat but to and they can't get that through town, a kick out by the warriors within the form of those pointers, and they take the leap back. And then finally comes down to the last shot. I thought it was great high trauma in a lot of amount of intrigue both ways, what a what a great showing in the end by the proud champions of work on to give it up. You know, that kind of stuff if you wanna go that way. And I was ready to crown Kawais Kenya. Paul universe lifting him up at the moment after relatively quiet game for him. And I got a great height mama. And, and I really, really enjoyed it and I, I would have been very comfortable if Toronto had one, but the fact that there's going to be more coming as a semi okay with me Bob any issues with the timeouts call by Nick nurse with three of our remaining in the game. Well, I you know what? I didn't pay attention to it. I guess I I, I was lax. Someone emailed me immediately after the game. What did you think of the time out, and I have to admit it hadn't gone to me. So I, I I'm I'm going to be publicly professed that it went over my head. How about the Kevin Durant situation? I what's the update because I've been in the news, blackout Kelly's? I mean M R I, the belief is, it's going to be an achilles tear. And he's got. So it said, that's so sad. Oh, obviously. I mean, you know, I'm not enough of lawyers for, for him personally. That's wow. I mean what would events I am? That's terrible. I mean, you know, the are no, it's not the death second state where twenty five or thirty years ago when they would end careers. But it is still difficult thing to come back from. And it's and it's sad. And obviously continues to put a little a the fact that he can't play. But to cloud over the the series I, I don't like what I call guys loose ends..

"Something like that. And sometimes these ducks learn to find safety in, in places with a lot of humans were other animals won't come in and get their, their ducklings. Plus, you have those people who love to see ducks and give them food, give them bread, parking lots are, you know, notorious for people feeding birds feeding ducks animals like that in the parking lot. So that duck probably adapted to say, hey, listen, if you want to be the last one alive in our little clutch. Follow me into the parking lot. There's hope we get some bread and hope these cars, and people keep the cats and hawks away. So they're safer and a parking. You're the one on the radio seeing dune where there's only a buffet buffet. What is the video that you have for us this week run? Okay. Let me get this on here on okay? All right. He just used them all up and hasn't Stephen written in those comments to ratings gold and special on Tuesday night. Why are we using magic? Why? But he's over Johnson. That's the only reason, but he's over Magic Johnson. So that's why we're doing it. That's why he gets every job that he gets is it because he's so horse. Is it because he's so good at broadcast. Magic Johnson did give us a fountain of content alas. I'm he was on these airwaves. So maybe we ride this one out for a little bit while you're going to want to watch it tonight. Just because they're going to have to talk about the Baxter home story that is the reason that no free agents would want to go to Los Angeles. If you're looking at what's happening behind the scenes have you guys seen what the Caesar's odds are now for Kawhi Leonard, and it's free agency destinations. No, tell me the overwhelming favourite, according to the betting money is the clippers at minus two hundred where Lee Jenkins is a part of the front office. Lee Jenkins, the only person to crack Leonard. And really, he just told us that he walks around with a backpack with the basketball in it, and which car he drives the second team is not the Knicks. The. Second favourite such that it is plus one twenty five is the raptors the Knicks occupy space with the warriors with the warrior. Oh, because he rant leaves he can replace them again. Right. But he doesn't do that because he wins championships on his own. So the, the Knicks are plus two eighty the warriors are plus three twenty but here's the damning thing right here. "Is Bloomberg technology. I'm Emily Chang. In San Francisco. Let's once again recap the massive sell off in the US markets this Tuesday on renewed global trade tensions socks cap. The biggest today slump since early January with the S and P five hundred falling one point seven percent. The tech sector was among the hardest hit semi conductor stocks in the west turned in their worst two day selloff since November. Meantime, the IPO market has been white hot this year as we've been talking about take a look at just one example, the still making massive games on top of having strongest first day for an IPO since at least two thousand eight for more on IPO's and the current market landscape. I want to get to Bloomberg's at ham, and who is at the Goldman Sachs leveraged finance conference with more, Ed. Thank you very much. That's right. I'm here with Greg Cote, global investment Bank sex, Greg is we just heard it's been a pretty day in the markets at the same time. We do have this White Hart. You're about some big ones coming into the future. What should I t o investors and the company's publicly thinking of today, but first of all thanks for having me. Thank you to Bloomberg for broadcasting from the Goldman Sachs leverage finance conference in southern desert. Certainly is the some of the market. So the markets it's been a bumpy couple of days in the markets. And as I've talked to clients about what's going on what they think about the markets. They're largely focused on whether the president's treat tweet from Saturday from Sunday ends up being rhetoric or being policy, and I think we've seen the impact of the potential for it to be policy in the markets the past couple of days, if it turns out to be rhetoric that gets a better trade deal. Then I think the market will snap back. And if it turns out to be policy, I think you'll be bad news for the US and China and for the markets. More broadly as release the IPO interesting. There's the IPO market has really been the story of the second quarter. And I think for the rest of the year. It's quite exciting. The number of countries have gone public and the number of companies that are in the pipeline. I think most investors that are looking at these companies are investing for the long term. So they're not going to be overly impacted by a couple of days in the market, but we have seen credible wave of companies become public. There's been lots of focus on these high technology high growth companies, but if you look at the companies that we've seen today. You've seen a hundred and sixty five year old company and Levi's and you've seen a ten year old company and beyond meat. So it's been a pretty wide before has been as you say like a full phobe producer. Why do we see that divergence in sort of eight is you say these longtime vessels for a lot of people that day one a week one fortunes of some of these companies wise, so I'm doing so well, and some less think these transactions are quite complicated, execute I think it particular wave of companies that's coming you need to help. Explain to investors new business models. They haven't seen before. And we're having invested in his public companies. And then you have to decide how they're going to value these companies and the balance between growth, which is getting lots of value right now pass the profitability and market share. So that's one complicated element of pricing. These things the right way. And the other is exactly what the issues objectives are are companies trying to maximize the price at which they can raise proceeds are. They're trying to build an investor base for a long period of time in the final variable is you've got a wide range of proceeds being offered. So companies with a couple of hundred million dollars a float versus billions of dollars flowed. We're gonna have very different supply demand impact in terms of the market the price thing in the immediate aftermath of trading. We all the conference a lot of middle hawk clients in this conference with us. That's been appalled. This kinda me since December when we had seen a real pullback in particular middle to at the same time. It's been pushed very hard into a lot of fanfare rounds, you sort of putting bodies on the ground across the country building these relationships you've had for long now that this seems to be as I say coming in a bit that we are. As you know, we've got David solid took over CEO about six months ago. He's been challenging all of us running businesses to figure out how to grow the business.

"Let's say old school way of doing things and Oto Beckham junior is a hard worker when he's at practice. He's very competitive. No one questions the winds. Great. But as I n receive he said on me Kansas podcast came out yesterday. There's a bit of a circus. That's around L beckons union didn't mesh I think it's actually a great fit in Cleveland, especially with Freddie kitchens. Now a lot not a lot of people don't know much about pretty kitchens, but the locker room really rallied around him. And he's got one of these Bruce area type of attitudes. That's where he comes from. He's from that tree where he lets guys be themselves in the really gravitate towards him. You think, Freddie? Likes the the expectations ratcheted up this quickly because they have been ratcheted up Mike you I mean people are talking about them in the Super Bowl. And this is a first year head coach like I I think the expectations prop there, obviously a lot higher now with the acquisition of Odell Beckham junior. But there would have been expectations for next season to improve upon seven eight and one record especially considering the drastic improvements say made under Greg Williams as a head coach. But pretty kitchens really designing the offense catered towards the talent that they finally had. And now we are here. We are talking about eight and a half wins as being a low over under something to jump on. Because it's going to go up right crazy when we talk about coaches being under coaches like a coaching tree like the Bill Parcells tree the bell. Check tree. How do you guys? Imagine that isn't an actual just regular Trie, and the coaches are sitting on the branches or is like a tree house, and they're all living in a great question. I think I picture a tree and the tree bears fruit and the fruit is like a face of a coach, right? But there's. Like a little bit of green imagined. The hair. But it's like, right. I imagine like a trunk right? And it goes up, and then the it's hired of the tree. I'm with Mike. It's it's it's like Bill Parcells face, right? And then from that drops little pieces of of fruit. You know? Yeah. That's the way. I imagine. It's a living tree like they hit in. It wasn't at the Keebler cookie commercial that had a living tree. That's the way I picked into a ticket tree or something. Like that. Like Winnie, the Pooh style with a little door at the mar I think so. Yeah. Pleasant pleasant visual. Yeah. I am from the Mike Greenberg. School broadcasting his trick. I part of the greenie tree. No, I'm not. I'm not even close. I may own tree. So that was his first sound on the show, then then when we throw it to him for a question a terrible. Question. I might add for Kevin arnovitz. Tell me the next super team. He knew it was coming to him. He was prepared. He was ready. This is the puppy on the floor in the kitchen not able to move while running in a hurry. Who's the next super team and not just a terrible question. But as an added bonus a terrible question poorly delivered. Forget about the fact that had nothing to do with what we were talking to aren't if it's about. And then then in the middle of another segment, I'm throw to him a question, and this is his light on his feet response. "I don't think it had anything to do with. Why are you guys bothers outrageously the other thing that I think is going on here if he conflicts questions and the scrum with all the time he spends on social media. So yeah, if he goes on Twitter on a given moment there or. He listens to your show or whatever. Of course, he's gonna hear people speculating about where he's going. No one in that scrum ever asked that question. I've been in those scrums. No, none of the beat writers in Oakland. And San Francisco ask him about that he was upset because he can't distinguish between questions in that official capacity and all the stuff that he pays attention to on social media, and he doesn't like being accused of wanting to assume LeBron's mantle and not getting the chance to do it. He thought by going to Golden State. That's what would happen. We would regard him as the best player in basketball. Would he might very well be there's an intelligent market for it. He was upset because that bit got out, and he was clearly conveyed by someone who's either in that organization in that locker room eclipse to him, but it's interesting because how could he not know how easy the winning would be when seemingly everyone knew how easy the winning was going to be. Well, I mean, there's winning and there's winning. I mean, he's one he's got rings. He's got the awards. But if he wants though, I don't know that it's not just the. Yeah. He wanted to championship you've got his championship. But what he want? He wanted to be mentioned alongside or even above LeBron as the best player in the world. When who asked ten basketball analysts are ten common fans for that matter. Hey, who's the best basketball player in the world? The truth of the matter is is Durant is good as he has. And I think you can make a compelling case. He is never the answer. And that's what he's upset. Who's the next super team in the NBA who's best positioned? And maybe it's wherever Durant ends up. What team is best positioned to be the next Golden State. Best position look at the teams with two salary cap slot or who can create them. Right. So theoretically, you've got the Knicks. You got the clippers. I don't I mean, the Knicks ever position for anything. I mean. Yes. Theoretically, look, I love what's going on in Milwaukee..

"Eighty three percent of the audience said, yes, those are the polls Stu gods during the break was making a prediction, Mike he was saying that what's going to happen to the patriots is three years after three or two years after two more Super Bowls Brady and Bella check are going to leave together. The patriots are going to go one in fifteen somehow. I don't know if the mathworks and they're going to get Trevor Lawrence. Yep. Book it. Mcdaniels will be there to coach him somehow because the patriots futures and interesting thing like they're going into this post-season. And I don't think many people are making them the favourite. There's the smallest betting favourite of the four whom teams this weekend real. But how about just to win the Super Bowl, right, Mike? If we were right now going on in Vegas where are the patriots winning the Super Bowl because I don't believe anyone trust them to go. And when a road game were you saying that their fourth among all the teams or were you saying among this weekend? They are the smallest betting favourite among the four favorites this weekend. Both they're also fourth the two bidding favorites are both the NFC teams. Correct. I think Greg saying of the home teams of the favorite teams, but the patriots do have the most difficult opponent. They're getting the chargers. True. Get a factor that it right? But but when was the last time the patriots worthy? Smallest favorite in this round. I can't remember it. Yeah. They had the fourth best odds and they're behind the Rams chiefs and saints. I don't. I don't think what I'm about to say is wrong. That they may be abetting underdog against all of those teams that Mike mentioned if they were to face any of them. And yet if that game were happening that day you had to place a bet on huff winning. Do you bet against the patriots? Kidding me out because I want any of those teams, but I would for the last five years. I would have done it. And I've been I would have been wrong a lot like I this this patriots team. Okay. Feels to me weaker than any we've seen in a while. And I know I'm grading on a curve, but they went with this kind of record when they had met castle at quarterback, which suggests that they had a lot of talent outside of the quarterback position. Because of what you just said, I've you this as a gambling opportunity getting the patriots that low at home minus four over the chargers. Are you kidding me? There's no way San Diego wins that game. Well, 'cause it's Angeles. The thing that really jumps out when watching. You know, this is the lack of speed noticed that trick. I'm doing a little tricky doing that. But the patriots overall they seem very slow when you watch him and teams like the Rams and the chiefs like things seem slow. You can see because element doesn't look slow to me. Just Gordon look slow to me looks at defense. Especially really slow was rob gronkowski's falling off the pace of the earth. "Less me that's age. It's just age. It's gotta happen. Eventually they might not have to play a road game though. I mean, what if they can Andrew luck at home, you know, really rare when he steps on a field even at this age where he's not the best quarterback on the field. And it may be happening against Los Angeles Philip rivers, and it's definitely going to happen against Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes and might possibly be having with Andrew luck. Well, I'm judging Brady against himself not against others in what I see is that drew Brees year younger is as close to as good as ever than Tom Brady is that can't be disputed, right because ju- breeze. Feels like he's mastered. The positions isn't over likely MVP this year. So I mean, I don't know football so confusing. I don't know is Brady on the decline the offense, and align his football confusing. Or is is Brady like this is Brady is unprecedented. In terms of the way, he's aging. I'm not talking. About in football. I'm talking about in human life. The way that he ages is not the normal way that anyone I've just wondering. 'cause gronk spin banged up. Adamant hasn't been there all season. I just I don't know. I'm not I'm not certainly not gonna write him all, but that's part of it. He's lesser the last couple of years. He's been a lesser quarterback. Whenever gronk doesn't play. And you've seen recently every time gronk runs a button hook. He loses. Another lug nut. It's it. It just it goes across the field and hit somebody. I mean, they're explanations for everything one of them came be he's getting older, and he might not be as good, but he's still terrific. But SU I'm surprised you have owned the hot take Tom Brady's a fourth best quarterback still alive in the AFC. And that's what you do. I don't want to own that. Because I think he's still the best quarterback of the AFC. And I think he will be ten years. I take the patriots job. Now donlevatar. I love me. "And I'm not sure if it's official or if he's rumored to be once again hosting the Oscars. I say all that to say, I don't understand how people really sort of view, these these incidents incidence, right where whether it be, you know, old or players old tweets athletic players old tweets using homophobic, racial slurs or with Kevin Hart, and this case using a homophobic slur, and it becomes a conversation about that person's personality in that person's character, and frankly, that's the least should be frankly, the least of most people's concerns because they're not going to be your friends. You're never going to really know what they act like or who they really are. So it should be a conversation about why it's a problem. And when Kevin Hart says, and I'm paraphrasing here that if his son was gay he'd beat you know, beat him up or something like that. Whatever. You're not talking about. I don't really care what Kevin Hart currently today. Maybe I don't care. It's probably strong. But what he thinks today of the LGBT community, and you know, he's probably evolved as a human being could be a lot smarter. That's fine. But to actually have the conversation about why saying those things matters. And why you've got kids everywhere saying, maybe they love Kevin Hart. And they say man, there's somebody else telling me that being gay is bad or being LGBT is bad. I am definitely going to hide it further. I'm definitely not going to be the person that I can be happy and free and everything else because everybody's telling me that it's bad to be this. And that's the type of stuff that you just build up and build up and build up over years. It's mental abuse. You hear it all the time around. You doesn't even have to be famous people. And then we get to the conversation of oh that person's a bad person. I don't really care what you know hater Josh hater. I don't care what his personality is like just like I don't really care what behind closed doors Kevin Hart personalities, like it's just in front of everybody. When you're saying these things you are messing with people's minds and usually young people that are still trying to figure out who they are. And what they are. And that's where the. Stations should be not. Oh, should he host the Oscars? Not should Ellen. Have given them a pest. Can we discuss what he actually did wrong? And then move on from there. That's very dangerous because it's that sort of thing and Bouillon that can lead to depression in potentially suicide. So that's very dangerous so many levels to that. And so that's the thing that drives me crazy. It's just like, you know, when he's sitting there talking about it's in a they're trying to attack his character. Nope. I just want you to acknowledge that you did something wrong and tell us what that wrong thing was and why it's wrong. And then let other people figure that out as opposed to being the big national discussion should Kevin Hart host the Oscars. I don't care if he does or doesn't. Yeah. And we were discussing off air that that for me. Anyway, it's easier to forgive, you know, the the twenty two year old baseball pitcher who six years ago when he was a dumb sixteen year old with no spotlight on him thought. He was anonymously tweeting something that he later regretted it's harder to forgive the celebrity, and I feel the same way when when you hear homophobic and misogynous lyrics in in rap and other music. I it's it's hard to forget because that's a platform. If you're Kevin Hart saying that allowed before meeting in effect before millions of fans that carries a negative wait in a negative influence in a way that some of that even when it comes to those players young players are the players who tweeted that out when they're young. I don't care if I want to forgive you or not. It's not. Oh, should we think that this player player? X is a good person. Or not that part doesn't matter to me the. But that's where everybody goes with an ooh that. Person set something what are we going to think of him versus actually examining as why saying that thing is so harmful? And that's all I'm saying here is just like man these conversations always get skewed and go in the wrong direction. And this is one of them. You can listen to the Dan lebatardshow with stugatz. And I have access to them in this situation. And it's always fun to recognize who recognizes you, right? Whether it be that was the cast from veep. A couple of guys from the from the veep show, which I love or at MSG one time. Spike, Lee's, really cool, etcetera Donnie Wahlberg friend of the show, or I guess he's a former friend of the show because he was so bad at picking met him the other day. But when I was in Cleveland this year I saw Joe Haden Antonio Brown on the sidelines at LeBron comeback game. And then I went over and said hi to AB, I can call him that now and obviously the connection of him being from AMI gave us a starting point to discuss. And I find him to be a pleasant human being. And so all this talk about him being a problem in Pittsburgh. I wondered if it's true because by every conversation that we'd have you? He seems to be awesome. Full pleasure things you do in life that just you don't realize they're awesome. And then you do and you're like, this was nice wouldn't have guessed. That's what it was based on the title, simple pleasures. We'll get into that a little bit. Man. I have a couple of candidates for the most shocking thing to happen during the break. When did you guys get it was like, the twenty first or something like that? Right. The Friday before Christmas, you guys that was exactly the last show. Exactly. The last show is the twenty first how about that memory and. And so there's been a couple of weeks there. And there's two candidates for the most shocking thing that happened in that time. Not like what the heck in an angry way. Right. So maybe we should maybe re rename that. But first one was happening on the Christmas day game. Ben Simmons had a fadeaway jumper outside the paint. What the heck exactly you go? That's the sound. Or we need was cover. Covering just want to bring up that you covered a game. No, it if I would have seen this on TV and had the same reaction. I would have remembered it but thank the game cover for. Yes. It was the game. I was covering. It was Celtics Sixers on ABC five thirty. I believe that works into primetime. So had that game and it was late in the shot clock. And Ben in sort of takes fadeaway jumper at like eighteen feet, which is like might as well be a thirty footer for him. "David Samson, the former Marlins steam president is with us. Now, what do you make of all of this rebranding? I wanna talk about the rebranding the Marlins doing the need to rebrand by spending one hundred million dollars in the outfield. They had that. And then they got rid of it. The thing that it's going on there doing this release of of logo and they're changing ho ballpark and all the colors. I get it. They want to separate themselves from the past and a new start. From you. And jeffrey. Well, if you're going to be specific, I would say. Let's not let's talk about that. That's to setting talk about right? I'm sitting here in a dark room trying to imagine the new colors. And here's the thing. Dan. I want the Marlins to succeed. And I want them to be good on the field. If the reason no one comes to game, his because of me and Jeffrey, then I'm glad that we're gone because now that we're gone that means that everyone should start committee. What?
