"Welcome to the third segment of the show and your host Elizabeth Aaron in the last segment. I talked about the movie. The Social Dilemma Am, now, going to discuss the movie he'll. He'll is a documentary that is focused on health and wellbeing and lifestyle. It's rated TV fourteen because of some language it came out in twenty seventeen and it's an hour and forty six minutes long. And this movie one, the Maui Film Festivals, Soul in Cinema Award for best film the movie was written and directed by Kelly Noonan, and this is actually the first film that she has directed. She has in the past been known more as a producer and actor. This documentary features interviews with many of the experts and specialists in health in the united. States and beyond. The list of names of experts is long includes Deepak Chopra Joseph Dispense up Peter Crown Kelly Turner Marianne Williamson Michael Beckwith Greg Brandon Patty. Pan Robin wargin Kelly Brogan Anita more Johnny Bruce Lipton Diane Porsche Anthony. William. David Hamilton Mark Emerson John Borissenko, and Bernie Siegel all these people have worked with many people who had health issues from all of the world from all walks of life and it bring a lot of wisdom and scientific knowledge to the forefront in this movie. My feeling is if you're human being body, you need to see this movie. Would have been nice. When we all were born, we came within instruction manual. So we knew how to take care of ourselves and others. Houses has been a personal interest of mine and I've seen some of these people speak or read their books with they've all been separate Canavan. With. This movie does is it brings all these specialists together in one movie. So you get a big picture and it was amazing and it was pretty amazing. The description of this documentary on Netflix is stories from spiritual leaders, physicians, and those with chronic illnesses reveal the powerful connection between the human psyche and physical health. But I would say that that doesn't go deep enough. It really talks about keeping up our health is more than just exercise and eating right although those are important to it's about how the physical spiritual and mental all impact, our overall health. And we have a lot more power over health than we've been led to believe that our bodies are highly intelligent and they're designed to heal. While doctors know an awful lot of in their approach to helping somebody he'll is to prescribe something and often prescription or have some side effects which means something else needs to be prescribed, and there's this snowball effect that ultimately is in disservice to the body. The movie starts out with a number of individuals talking about the health issues that they have dealt with whether for a long time or short time with that have greatly impacted the quality of their life. And then director Kelly Noonan talks about how she's fascinated with healers in how our thoughts and emotions affect our health. And she also is interested in looking at what energy healers and mind body medicine can do it if that was considered normal..

"You know his dad was there with him were dead journey Venus Venus Serena Their Dad got dementia tennis and how he was there and how it became something that they. That path they want together and you know what? I mean just working in just working Michael Jordan another one, his dad's right. There is just when when your dad is involved in your in your life at that level is just different and it's so crazy as learned it doesn't startling u-turn ten or eleven it starts at debt three, four age introduced a sport to love because you're out looks up to you you're like. You you are like a superhero to your child and I think if we embraced that role of being a superhero and I think we we have to start owning that. You know what? I mean just using that four. For support for the kid ultimately, that's where it goes. Go ahead. Yeah. No and understanding also that. Dad's mean any everything to parents mean. To their kids and and they are just soaking all interactions in and also lack of interactions. So they are proud and say, that's my dad when you know dad is present at the game and time somebody's shoe. They're also internalizing when that doesn't show up. Right Right and it's understanding both ways and I think we talked a little bit like it's it's attempts to be easier for DADS to jump in and participate and show up more with a kid once they're more verbal verbal and active but while you're some ways that dad can show up. And support the the whole family with during those hard weeks. And even months when babies are really itty bitty newborns. And I think that's the creative instincts. Things as would a creative nacer comes in would our subways would would would have some things that you can do to support that? So I know when I was growing up as a young as a young boy you know you know eating there. Was a great time to kind of Greg Brandon Fellowship I know that's kind of a lost art in in east as was everybody's on the goal you know and everybody has a phone. You know what I mean so is is is that is just eat together as having a fellowship in that sanctuary you know doing things together those who stuff. Playing, Playing Board Games, you know what I mean having that night to where. You know it's all about just a family. You know you you cut off your phones you every is is all about people that are internal. So you lead the external people go because you want to show that that commitment like you said, we don't. We don't want it just to be a one sided thing to wear this. You know when the kid is active, you know what's once was going to happen when those tough times you Wanna I think having those outlets to you can just. Say. This is what's going on. This is how my day was or when they're just little just a little bitty baby like you said, this little Eddie Baby, you know plant guys plan with the baby together. You know what I mean you guys is doing stuff together once once again, the the we want the baby to regardless of what our separate lives are. We want to come together this port that baby or babies to grow up in that that nest of of up. Just, being able to have a opportunity.

"Wednesday December fifth. You're listening to the Glenn Beck program. Mr. Andrew Wilco is joining us. Now, Andrew was one of our founding one of our founding talents at the blaze TV. I think Andrew when you were. There was g BTV. Yeah. Well, I was a guest I joined real news after the name was changed to the blaze. And then shortly after being a panelist on the blaze, you guys elevated me to to my own program, and I became part of the primetime lineup. So yes, yes. Yes. I was part of the the original circle of people because we had a we had a setup for you up in New York and everything and we're thrilled that you're back you left and joined crtv and been doing a bang-up job on crtv. And now, you're back into the fold and something that is bigger and better. And I think I think you know, there was a story. You will appreciate the Sandra. There's a story I think Vanity Fair about how vox and all of these all these big media companies advice all of these internet companies. They just couldn't make a go of it. And they're all they're all shutting down because nobody will merge, and it's a lot tougher to do internet stuff than we thought you'd think. No, look, I I said this when you join me yesterday that, you know, people thought you were crazy to leave a major national network with all of the bells and whistles, and and and in resources, and I remember I said, it's you then I said yesterday, I thought you were crazy too. But I wanted to be part of it. I was like this made it out of his mind, and whatever you're doing. So anyway, so it's great to be in the family together. The let's let's talk a little bit about the news. A couple of things come to mind. Let's let's start with Joe Biden. And and the the elections that are coming in twenty twenty and I would I'd as much as I'd like to hear you talk about the Democrats feel free. If you want to I would like to hear what your thoughts are on the GOP if you're going to run on a record you kind of have to have one. You and I told this country together with freedomworks, and we went we went to bat for Dr Greg Brandon Matt Bevin Ted Cruz rand Paul Mike Lee Dame. It we traverse the country for these conservatives who believe in the Bill of rights, and the constitution limited government, all that stuff that we talked about all the time every single GOP member ran on cutting taxes cutting the budget repealing Obamacare's during the border. Then once they got power they turned around to people like us and said well, hold on. We have to be pragmatic. You're going to have to give some time. And my first thought was the Democrats never do that to their base. They may order their response to demands of activists you start with the takeover of a healthcare and you end up bathrooms, but they get their this Republican leadership delivered on nothing. Yes, they cut taxes. That was nice. Thank you for letting us. It wasn't like honestly it wasn't. It wasn't stunning. Trump's for anything. Wasn't. It wasn't something where we could say oh my God for the eight years of hard work starting with the tea party. We've got this fundamental transformation of the tax code. We're going to have a flat tax state. You're going to pick up what they need to run. What they wanted the state level. We we got we got some money in our pocket, but they spent more than the Democrats ever. Did they didn't fund the border wall? Whether you agree with it or not the all rain on it. The the the Democrats eventually will deliver on their promises their base. Where's the Republicans? Tell us to sit down and be quiet until the next time. They need our programs our audiences and the and the activists in the base of the party to deliver them victories. Imagine Andrew if Donald Trump weren't president. It was Hillary and the caravan came to our gate, they would have opened the borders, even though right now, she is across the across the ocean. And she's in Europe. And she's like, oh, boy that immigration thing that didn't work out. Well, that was probably a mistake. Probably. Yeah. And they're going to do the same thing if we don't get real lasting security, and the GOP they have a few more weeks to do it. They've now punted the job. They're not going to. Thank you. Why would they do something in the lame duck? They didn't they didn't do when they when the iron was hot what what their motivation at this point. I don't know to not be terrible human beings. You remember me sitting on set with you in Texas, and you said to me something. Of. Ramming. I said, he's not a communist. That was that was all I could he's not the communist had that as well. That was kind of where I. About the migrant crisis is that this is something that nobody talks about especially in democrat circles that we sent for the last year available two hundred ninety seven million dollars to want them all a hundred and twenty seven million dollars. And we're doing those packages almost annually. If you look up on USA ID's website. It's actually a very good website for a government site. Now, two hundred ninety seven million veterans ninety seven million to failing school district not twenty seven ninety seven million for our own infrastructure beloved infrastructure, did he's other countries. And we're being told her fleeing, poverty and violence. Well, the US website breaks down almost to the dollar. How much we spend on infrastructure. How much we spend on healthcare education civil society, governance law enforcement, and I have not heard any credible voice in the Congress, Republican or democrat, the president's mentioned it, but not in congress of eight. Why are we sending the money if the people are coming here if we've sent the money to comfort them to better than to improve their lot in life. There why the people coming here? And my only conclusion is it's a win win for these government. We send them the money. They send us the people. They keep the money to spend it on the people. They come here, we give them healthcare. We find them a job. We give them education. It's a win win. If you're the government of Honduras. I completely agree with you. And I would if I were Donald Trump, and I'm I'm I'm really disappointed that we haven't done this. I would cut off every dime. Look, I'll help you. But you are not to send your people here far as Mexico is concerned. They allowed that caravan to continue to go. They were breaking Mexican laws. They still are turned that caravan around, and I don't know why we haven't gotten tough and just said, okay, guys where we shouldn't be dealing with this. This is your problem Mexico. You let them come through your country Honduras. You don't get a dime from us. You're gonna you're not going to stop people. We're cutting you off. What we talked about the generosity of America. We could argue back and forth about four eight. But haven't we what what is it that? We haven't done for the people of these countries. This is this is so we can we can separate the European question about migration, we have been giving these countries these people that we see that are desperate following voices. That are telling them, you know, it's really sick. When I know, you know, this this is the worst epidemic of Alinsky powered pivot. Whatever you wanna call it in your hand. These poor people are just doesn't see the only person that benefits and community organizing is the organizer Barack Obama's got a sixty five million dollar book deal and the south side Chicago's. These people are being used by people who are furthering their own political agenda and credibility sick. It is it is sickening to watch the images of women carrying children looking for an end to this. And they're being led by people who know darn well, this is not how you filed asylum claim this is not how you immigration. They have to know these people are rotten, and they're evil telling your take quickly on Muller what we found out yesterday about Flynn, and what next year looks like well for a guy that allegedly colluded with the Russian government, you know, having calls with Sergei Kislyak could be incoming national security adviser over certain global sanctions, I if that is the root of collusion with Russia. No jail. Time sounds pretty good for a guy who such a rogue agent. And by the way, why aren't we looking at Claire mccaskill is very tight relationship with Sergei Kislyak business in Russia. The Moscow tower is some some smoke and fire of criminality, why aren't the pedestrian and by virtue of that Clinton who took five hundred thousand dollars to go speak to Putin's bag. Why is this look if you want to have a sense of law and order and fairness and say we have to make sure our political classes on the up and up. You can't say, it's okay. When they do it. You can't say that we're going to ignore the fact that Hillary Clinton was deleting, we're dealing in fact, she was destroying devices in evidence, we're going to ignore the fact that people got their eyes on classified information, like Anthony Weiner, and we're gonna say. But you know, somebody wanted to go to Trump Tower and meet with Don, jR to lobby over the ski that did the the president. He has to be impeached. Yeah. It's and I think this is what people are missing because they immediately you say that and people on the left immediately jumped to that's what aboutism. No. It's really not, you know, but had his basic fairness, which I I thought the left was all about you can't say I'm going to apply the law this time, but not last time or not the next time. It has to be blind Justice must be blind. And I think that's all that the American people want is just can we just apply these things equally? And I it's so it's so ironic to me that people are coming to our border who are fleeing chaos in their own own countries. They say they're flying fling it because they can't work. They can have a job, and they have no chance because there is no equal Justice system. And they're coming here. They're asking us to break the law, which would create what they had and on top of it. We are allowing both sides, Democrats and Republicans we are. Are allowing our country to become a a clip accuracy. Where is this is just the thieves that are running it? I got something you're gonna love it. It's gonna scare you at the same time. I know you're a big fan of investigative journalism and documentary in journalism. This is the first for me, and we did this. We produced this before we even knew that. There was going to be a coming together of the crtv and blaze university, hang on hang on hang on. If you have a second. Let me let me take a break come back. And you tell me about excite hang on Andrew wheel Cal now. Blaze TV along with. I don't even.

Been sailing with, his brother and he's going to meet his brother a rendezvous in future and he. Comes to Santa Maria island looking for. His brother ship but he sees trial what is his first opinion and how does he respond Greg Well he he sees. What he calls his memoir strange Sal opening up around the Cape of the island the point. And he ended crew a paddle over to it row over, to the trial he's a takes food and he makes the. Offer to Benito cereno but now comes? The, moment that Melville turns into a drama, and that is a fascination because there's a great deception underway Maury. Who has Spanish, and, understands and and Serrano and Dell no sh sh, Ray a trade Spanish and English back together, but MAURICE stands right next to Sarah no because, he's in. Charge of the. Ship but Delo thinks cereno is he doesn't know anything about the drama he's being Deceived Maury, takes the role of the deceiver and that is a magical position. In Africa And did, more, was again I'm asking self-aware or? Have we teased this out because we're literary men. Greg where were they at the time this is this is the heart of the, matter and this is, what's, so captivated Melva, when he read it in in. A donors memoir more in Baba's, obviously? Sore Delano perseverance the ship and they, they had they. Had a number. Of options right they they wish earned you gotta remember they were starving. They were dehydrated as I mentioned to women to children by this point had had died one could imagine that. They would have done. Anything that they needed to do. To get food to get water they could have surrendered they could have a mmediately forte but instead they came up with. This remarkable deception where they, would decided that they would let whoever it. Was turns out it was a. Masa. Dylan oh board the ship and they, would protect they would pretend to be slaves They. Maury who could understand some Spanish Would stick by Benito cereno and and act as if he was so dangerous body servant and and what's fascinating about this Delano later on in his memoir describes, the scene as if he's. Still entranced he's still quite couldn't grass what had happened that these west. Africans had managed to to deceive. Him this went on for hours Delano, it's an experienced mariner circumnavigated the globe but three times this, was the middle, of his third voyage. Third world voyage he had extensive experience he he had seen other. Scenes of slavery and revolution and, colonization so he was a worldly man but but he couldn't quite understand what. Was going, on in front of me he thought maybe perhaps, benico Selena was a pirate or. Privateer and this was in a lab Gueret ruse, to try to lay. Siege to his ship the perseverance so he was a little nervous. But he became increasingly fascinated between, the relationship between Maury and and Benito cereno he looked around the ship he. Saw scores of west Africans only a handful of Spaniards he, s Benito's rain you're what happened When he came. Up with some story about running into about sailing from Montevideo then they ran into they ran into a storm and then. They hit the doldrums the. Fevers head and that was to, how to account for why that was very very few Spaniards on, board the ship and this went on for hours Benita. I Delano sent his. Men back to his ship and back to Santa Maria to fill the water casks and get food this took a long time so for a very long time Macedonia was alone on the trial watching this kind of uncanny. Seen, and this is what Melville magically turns into Benito. Cereno but he goes rain you as a story is takes place almost exclusively in the mind of a Mazda Delano where readers don't know that. The west Africans are in charge, of things until the end of the story just as a Masa Dylan oh. Didn't know that the west. Africans were running things we're basically running an eight hour pantomime. Of the master slave. Relation at three PM the. Trial is drifting out, from the protection of Santa Maria a Moscow a sees that things are awry. And he wants money to help Benito cereno always the Yankee trader, it doesn't happen so he decides to, leave as he's leaving getting into his. Whaleboat to go back to perseverance Benito cereno grips has hand and then dramatically in the novel it says tackler throws himself. Overboard and explains that this. Is all a ruse and that, these are rebels and he must recapture a ship and when we, come back the recapturing of trial is the beginning of. The ordeal for Babo. And Maury and the other west Africans who want their freedom and the running up against the change in governance of the new world which is making money from slavery but has its doubts and will eventually shed slavery in. The, South America part of the new world much before. The North America or the United States Greg Grandin is the author of the Empire of necessity slavery freedom and deception. The crew well they were servants, to a Rhonda or caucus this plan, that they put together does it look as if it was extremely well Prepared or was it a spur of the moment Well we can suppose from the fact that had happened on this holy holiest night of the, the holiest holiest Holiday Inn Ramadan in in Islam the in, which was at the end of Ramadan and Islam it's too it's the day that that that the archangel Gabriel, presented the initial verses of the Koran to Mohammed and we can suppose that that it, was since it was time to that day That was some planning and some foresight again the documents don't necessarily reveal what the leaders of the revolt, with thinking but there's different ways of of of considering this that that that the The experience that that day that evening was so important in their cosmology and worldview particularly everything that they went through that they were Gribben. Up the Andes the beginning of Ramadan that they experience that a sent into inter freezing atmosphere, that it was so thin that it refracted color. That, that that sparks would come from flannel that must have been a fairly, intense melding of the physical and spiritual world for for these these Muslims We don't know what they. Fasted we don't know we don't know what exact conditions they were, under when they were went, up the, slave road up the Andes but it must have been fairly intense fell and Ramadan added to that intensity and then they were boarded, on the trial and and they were about a week out when, they revolted and they revolted, on as as you nicely, presented it on the on the eve of of the night of power so that I think lends itself to some foresight and some planning if only, a kind of you know climax of everything that they had experience and, all of the hajj hardships that they had experience over the last year and a half bobble and Maury are the important ones to watch here because they're they have evidence. Of letters and they have the language at least Maury has enough Spanish so that he can. Watch what's Going, to happen as they go forward they attack the the Nightwatch. They attack the ship's carpenter another. Sailors with these. Knives the initial assault they execute kill eighteen sailors throw them overboard seven begged for their lives and that was, granted there seventy two so called slaves seventy two people have been stolen from. Their homes thirty two men twenty of the manor between twelve and sixteen twelve be twenty twenty five to, fifty they are the leaders there are women their babies there are other men on board who are going to join. With them most importantly Joaquin who was the ship's Caulker Jose Francisco, were random servants may may, or may, not a participated but the important people to watch now are more with his Spanish and Babo with his genius for leadership they overcome, and then they charge down to Benito cereno quarters he holds them, off with pistols but then, he surrenders after they tell, him they're going to throw the whole crew overboard unless he does They take control of Aranda the slave master, and Benito cereno whose ideas to present returned to Africa Greg Well we again we can only we can only guess but the, documents to Spanish documents that reveal they do. Indicate at Babo and more leaded men that they that they that they were literate in their own, language And it, is true that on that in west Africa There was a good deal of literacy thanks to the spread of his lung which had, come down from LeBron, by eleven in the twelfth century thirteenth century fourteenth century There were Koranic schools there was. There, was evidence that Bob on Maury were were of that strata within west Africa so one could suppose that it was their idea to return to to. West Africa I they actually what's interesting is that they actually asked to be brought to a land of a land of, blacks that they heard exist in these waters, and I take that. As a reference to Haiti that he shouldn't written revolution that happened in the years prior to this this, ship revolt and in eighteen o four Haiti declared its independence it was the second Republic of the Americas the. The first nation that came out of, a slave rebellion and and there was no way that these enslaved peoples who had come across the Atlantic, on a French private here wouldn't have known, about the Haitian revolution they asked to be taken to a land of blacks that they exist in these waters He, says no such land exists and and then, it's at that point. That they asked to be taken to Senegal west Africa to west Africa not knowing that that means a vast voyage but it. Is possible Greg, has examples, of when the many revolts slave revolts rising up against their slave masters over the, period of, several hundred years one very spectacular successful one but was stay with trial right. Now because this is the basis of the drama, January? Sixteenth, the, Bobby and moral and the other leaders decided to kill a Rhonda wide what do we know about. Their decision making cra- Greg well. Again this is all guessing and filling in by, from from the. Logic, context, that, we, do know about they were days into the revolt they had demanded to be returned. To west Africa Benito sitting stalled he he he he I sell north and he sells South he was taking his. Fine the last thing he wanted to do was, round? The, Cape, with a with the cruise ship full of mutinous ex slaves in a skeleton crew of of of. Of Spaniards and so he he. Stalled this was a typical strategy of of of, slave ship captains. Who, were, who, had, the tables turned on them and One could guess that the execution of I had to do, with a growing desperation among the. Rebels they were starting to get. Hungry they were. Starting to get thirsty they were dehydrated there was eventually two women, and two children were die of dehydration but they But they ran into a storm ship almost capsized so one could imagine that that the execution Rondo which seems to have taken place, after a bit of deliberation testimony from some of the surviving, crew members talks about the congress. Or the council or the a. Meeting of of. The leaders of the revolt had when they decided that Rhonda had, to die And and so the execution took place quite after The actual revolt The execution, of a Rhonda, the stalling continues and now we're going to sail fifty three days up and down up and down, avoiding all traffic Benito cereno thinking to himself that he's going to come across another ship that. Will rescue them that's where we're headed to a place called Santa Maria island off of what. Is now chilly the book is the empire, of necessity slavery freedom and deception in. The new world Greg granted. Is the author. I'm John Batchelor this is the John Batchelor show Balance of.

"Greg Brandon's here is new book is the empire of, necessity slavery freedom and deception in the new world and I described this as de mythology ising a, brilliant, Melville short. Story short novella Benito cereno, about, a, slave uprising at a masquerade that deceives a massive Delano. From Duxbury, Massachusetts and. Professor we were discussing a Mazda. Dylan oh being. Not quite a success in all of, his adventures and he's he's. Tireless the man works all the time he never sleeps he gets it from, his his family the della knows their adventurous, but at the same time we have to watch Melville Melville's many years later. Although they share some of, the same players the young attorney who becomes an important player in the slavery battle in Massachusetts when he's. A young attorney he represents Delvino. In his law seeking a. When he wants to. Be. One wedding wants to seek compensation For his actions. The important actions, with, the trial, but Melville. Himself comes from a family I learned in an elaborate, footnote that you provide a family that. Has a a shadow it's the shadow of a slave revolt against the, family that Melville comes from and there were young people and a sixteen year old girl who was, hanged, because of. The slave revolt in Albany, New, York, does that does that weigh on Melville's opinion of what. Dylan oh, well I. Think in slavery in general I. This is the. Question Melville didn't leave any diary entries, or or correspondence of what. He was thinking when you wrote Benito cereno and this is a debate among, Melville scholars about his opinion of slavery slitting, Melville was was was a democrat and he believed in emancipation they believed in. In in freedom for individuals, he was against chattel slavery as an institution but also he was witnessing I think he was living through Through what, the institution of slavery was doing. To the United States and he was. Tortured by you felt I think he was at an impasse the impasse though is in. That living in denial the wealth I read you correctly the wealth of New, England has to be presented as based upon slavery the number of slaves after seventeen seventy six was in excess of, five million flowing to? The age of liberty so there was nothing about? Liberty, that, stopped slavery in fact it encouraged, it, did Melville ingest ingest. That growing up and did he put it into Benito cereno yes and what he put into Benito cereno. I think is is is a sense of hopelessness he he had come. To the conclusion that that America face, to choices and the eighteen. Sixties had it could it could it could. Fight against slavery and the inequity sinful inequity, that slavery was and risk. Destroying the Republic the experiment and The liberty that the United States was either do revolution or through war through fragmentation or it could accept the fact that that that liberties I can leave slavery in place and accept the fact that liberty for, sun meant slavery Meant slavery, for others and it was. That pessimism.
