"Early from Dallas, he wasn't even a full-time player full-time season. Back on track. Here's our man, Jordan Pete Fox. For young boys, it's from the penalty spot, but it is number 18 of the season. He now leads the Swiss Super League. I feel like people are giving up on peacock. Because he missed that sitter at Aztec cover versus Mexico, I get it. It feels very one dough like the treatment that he's getting. I hope people don't go down that route. It's one game, one miss, a long road ahead of them. In MLS, another number 9 scoring goals. His 5th of the season. Tied for the league lead. Only two games all at home, but this man is hot. Listen, he's not your prototypical 9. I get it, but he is for FC Dallas and he is for the U.S. national under Greg Berg. He also scored last window. So Batman is hot. FC Dallas, three one winners over Colorado on the night. Speaking of American goal scorers, Christian Pulisic and Chelsea face Crystal Palace. In the FA Cup, semifinals, that one on ESPN+ Sunday coverage starts 1125 a.m. Eastern Time. Whatever you want to call it, it always seems to live up to the hype. 13th minute galaxy going up through chicharito. Good finish, Hummer. Is this a great finish? 'cause he sees corporate coming out and he, on purpose, heads it down, tries to get underneath them. It's a great goal. So I had chicharito to score first at plus 400. You had Carlos vela to score any time plus one 40 should have had one there. I should have had that one. Absolutely. This is just a terrible giveaway where velocity and you would bet the house on Carlos vela for anything that. Bella does finish this, but gold disallowed her. Did they get it right? Yeah, they got it right. A few inches off size, but nonetheless, offsides. 31st minute galaxy at a second, Sega Cola valley at the back post. Yeah, grand sear, another assist. That's three and two games and Sega cooler Bali. It is by himself naked back door. He'll finish that. Two zero laid into the second half. From close range, two one, we got a ball game. Yeah, the pew just lets go to the villa turnham and it's a right at Bon Bond. Coughs it up and chicharron goes right there for the finish. 7th minute, second half. Stoppage time. Latif blessing. We got a late game.

"Of Stargate. St One. Hello my name is Chris Donna. Logan this is rock the s O bannon creator of alienated and Farscape James then from desperate housewives and all star Superman. Hey It's Greg Berg them mind reading cop on heroes. I am C. Three. Po Human Cyborg relations. Hi I'm Angel Kobe. Am I take one of it and I? This is billy boy. I plead pippen and load up the rings. And you're listening. Sifi talk wrong and prosper well into this edition of sci-fi talk time capsule as we're almost in the middle of January actually. We are in the middle of January. And this is my magazine. Style interview podcast. I'M TONY TO LOTTO BEING HUMAN RETURN. Monday with its third season on the sci-fi channel and this summer at San Diego comic con show runner and freaky disgust this new season. I think we left our characters obviously on the precipice of great life threatening situation though in the last year and so we're really exploring the consequences of that this year. How do they get themselves out of situations. Do they get themselves out of situations and the season really is about being careful? What you wish gone. Because they all were striving for what they wanted the freedom for justice from hers. And so it's exploring that definitely. Were exploring more levity and I'd say there's more romance this season and human relationships and but it also at the same time the stakes have never been higher for them. And so even you know it's it's the same journey that that we say on. Which is that. They're trying desperately to be normal and to be human until there. There is something of course is always wanting to threaten that and the danger that their end only keeps getting ratcheted up especially their ever evermore interwoven. Each Other's worlds and this season began very conscious efforts. You have them all intertwined to have the big bags be affecting more than one of them. They have to fight together so they don't. They're not all off in their own. Little bubble so there's a lot of having to to band together against the greater evil. Look for being human on the sci-fi channel and speaking of channel tonight continues its final season as we met at the end of last year. A young dragon comes into the fold. Colin Morgan Discusses. What the Dragon. Means to the story. They are telling the dragons murder has always been on. It's been something highly important for because because he concentrated I can connection as in which is why you wife goes back to the Dragon. Because there's no one else in connection with their their arm people module creatures of magic on regardless of it. I think I think he can was love. Loneliness and Merlin on on House the dragons no longer what he was no longer. The the source of advice smirnoff's kind of ny going through because else is so off the baby dragon. I was a big thing for him. Is something you wanted to do to for for the future on this. It's it's actually a little bit upset. What's what's to come with with the Baby Dragon. On something has happened with Madonna. Within those three years that we don't know about thought has from from the first episodes. Let's put her on such a mission in such a drive but it's terrifying. Nobody knows what it is. A war. Her reasons for are they will become clear. It's right the season or thoughts. That's another thing. That's a burners threat to seasons. There's a lot of seeds that are earlier on me on Scifi Friday nights at ten and definitely go to sci-fi Talk Dot Com. Is I preview every episode with clips and pictures and coming up? This Monday is the following. It's Kinda like a procedural serial killer and cult mash up altogether. Any Parisi. Who We know is Cara Stanton on person of interest has a new role as an agent. Absolutely I play agent Deborah Parker and I come in the second episode. I I come in to the investigation of Joe Carroll and his followers and I am a specialist in colts. So I come into sort of answer the question for answer many questions about you know. Is this a cold? How wide is it? How many people are they relating to one? Another relating to Carol Lot of lot of threads to follow. I gotta say one of my favorite things about being an actor is getting to like have a little window into all of these worlds that you wouldn't necessarily look into otherwise and Yeah I have read so many books about serial killer that I'm finding it hard to sleep. It is some very very very scary stuff and especially I mean. It's all real. I mean there are just so many of them out there like all over the world and like I mean you name it there some Group of people who are into it. I mean it's it's really. It's very extreme and and fascinating world. So yeah it's been. It's been creepy the following premieres this Monday. Look for my podcast special on that particular day. Monday with interviews with the cast taped it near Comecon and spotlight has composer Lt Orbison. Who is the composer on Hansel and Gretel which hunters? We chatted recently about that project. In how this this movie? That's coming up for you The a totally different take on Hansel. Incredible it looks like a lot of fun especially know Jeremy can do action with the avengers of course so shouldn't be stretch musically. How do you approach a movie like dad or did you have a lot of discussions with a director on that? Yeah we had some extensive discussions about and and went down so the several different different roads really in the very beginning. You know the in a way the first thing that Tommy and I discussed was metal. Like heavy metal METALLICA. Early was Kinda first musical reference and and You know which Kind of goes with the you. Know the new. Hey Para which Tommy was going for it. It's got a very rock and roll sort of feel to it. The characters have access to technology which is probably not historically accurate. So you know. There's a bit of stretch of the imagination there and we decided to apply that to the music as well. But then once he started so tempting. The film and getting into the editing process started Trying more classical sounding pieces and was enjoying that a lot and And then the studio came back and reminded us that you know he had sent sizzle. Reel from you know which is sort of just kinda short Montage of shots from the film that he shot on on location actually sent that over to them with this Mattel Not metallica actually is another band but but I'm kind of a heavy metal song in the background. They really love the feel of that so they sort of reminded us you know. Hang on a second. This is what we were drawn to revisit that and Somewhere in that conversation that the phrase stuff stuff was thrown into so All of a sudden we're we're you know we're looking down to avenues heavy metal classical symphonic music you know. Modern `electronic music has been thrown into the mix. So but you know. I think that crossroads was really sort of the genesis of the sound that you hear in the movie. Did you like a rock band to play some of this stuff or did you do that yourself? We didn't some of it ourselves and you know some of it You know I brought players in and And it was just a in. You know all kinds of samples that were made in House. And and you know there's a lot of experimentation really that went into it and then eventually we recorded the score at the Sony Stage in In here in in Culver City or in La and With the weasley reasonably large orchestra and and So the you know the real trick really was to marry all these different Different sounds and different ideas into something till he's yeah definitely as you. Did you kind of make any changes as you were getting the footage back and seeing what they were what they were turned they were turning out. Yeah I mean the. The really wasn't constant flux while I was scoring several different takes on the story the the the studio and and Tommy and editor where we're playing around with and and so I be quite adoptable and and and ready to serve take u-turns and and and follow them down that road and But I'd say you know the the general sound of the film once we kinda found it. We didn't really evolve. I mean it kept evolving. But there's sort of we all knew when we were in the sweet spot and that was probably a good three months before scoring and And then it was really a matter of just sitting the music to the picture having said that the the last he's music that I wrote is really what became the main Thailand. Sort of so in a way. It was one of those things we have to start to go from the from the end back. You know Make your way to the beginning And then so the I had to go through all these experimentation to figure out whether sound love the main title and thereby you know the kind of the essence of the sound of the movie was one of the things that you've done in careers you come in for films and work with other composers. Like being Soloist Sherlock Holmes doing a little bit work Iran Man and also for Frost Nixon and even angels demons will. Yeah you did some additional music for them. What's it like to kind of come in and kind of work? In that capacity on a score it's actually really liberating You know and the reason being There's just so much less responsibility on your shoulders. And therefore you know you're you feel much freer and I think I think it's really Soon Nice to be on this Don't get me wrong. I do greatly prefer scoring my own tells but but it's actually it's it's a lot of fun to just you know. For example you mentioned Ironman. I just jumped in for few days and did a couple of shoes for mean and You know helped him out as much as I could. Because you know time was running out and sometimes it just happens with so anyway the point being you know I really all I have to do is just swoop in and and Kinda take the information in and there's no time to really overthinking and and you just kinda sure like musical mercenary do the job and and evacuate so it's You know it was actually those. Those are really a lot of fun. Wow that's cool and the movie that you scored that I enjoyed was season of the witch. I thought that was a good score. Points enjoyed that A different obviously a different type of film. Although you can they can almost be both have witches. It's kind of interesting on that one Obviously you took a little different approach on that if you can kind.

"From smallville Gemini Division. I'm Michael Shanks of starting one. Hello my name is Chris Donna. Location rock the S. obana creator of Alienated and Farscape James then from desperate housewives and all star Superman. Hey It's Greg Greg. Berg them mind reading COP on heroes. I am C. Three. Po Human Cyborg relations. Hi Angel Kobe. I take one of it and I. This is billy boy. I plead Pepin and load up the rings. And you're listening. Sifi talk live long and prosper seventy four time capsule. This is my magazines out interview. Show and this segment. I have more comments and soundbites from San Diego Comic con one of the returning series. That's going to be wrapping up. Its final season is fringe and here. Joshua Jackson looks back on season three and also what happened so his character wouldn't be there season four and he looks ahead to Caesar five to know I felt like last year. It was a necessary outcropping of the finale from the season before. So that all made sense to me. And the vacated the extra vacation didn't hurt either so You know I think our story has gone in Directions. That are story has gone and it is what it is so this year. I'm in the beginning of the season last year. I wasn't but it didn't freak me out. I wasn't there. It felt like a necessary step for their show to be taking that being said. Nice this your Joe has been really really forthcoming in a way. That hasn't always been the case on our show so it's nice to have this shortened season that has a really specific linear story. That is trying to tell a very very clear beginning middle and end story and to be brought in to be part of that allows at least me but I'm sure all the rest of the accident tell you it allows us the opportunity to get ahead of what we're doing as opposed to just experiencing an in the moment a lot of time with scripture coming in very late to really think out all right so those are the signposts of where he's taking the story this year. How do I want to be at episode for? And how do I want Peter and Walter to episode that allows me the opportunity to to think about those things ahead of time? So it's so I mean I haven't started shooting at so far. This is great look for the final season of fringe on Fox starting on September twenty eight also returning the TV in the SCIFI channel is haven. I recently participated at a round table session with Emily Rose Lucas. Brian and Eric Balfour where they previewed the new season three had kind of a Brunch San Diego Comic Con. I think we'll always have. The elephants are so down the kind of thing that we hang the show off of and that the characters are able to kind of react is based on the trouble to week. But there's definitely much more mythology and over arching story being revealed this season and season three definitely learned a lot more about this one. Just something and I think it's probably true this season. I each episode. We probably learn more than we've learned in all of the first two seasons so it's GonNa be. I think it's going to be right. I mean high overstating it totally too. I was standing outside a second ago and this week Kensington. Very just handed me a paper. Pretty much have arena returns on SCIFI FOR SEASON THREE ON SEPTEMBER. Twenty third. So look for that interesting series. I attended a breakfast at San Diego. Comic con four was defiance. And they're MIA Kirshner Julie. Bents talk about their character of sisters and how they live in two different situations in the world of defiance. We were just talking about the fact that you run the world above and keeping the peace and I run the world alot and there's a really and Yang quality to this relationship and defiance is a treacherous frightening place and there's not a lot of love that existed from before before the Pale horse and the sisters are so close and it's yeah it is you're right. It is an extremely complicated relations man. The both of you into science is both have the same kind of quality bouncing different cracks dimple businesswoman also colored figures and also keeping clients happy peaking killing each other. There's a lot of balance for both Amanda Drinks at night blood pressure. She cries herself to sleep for my for me. I think Kenya created this club because she views sexualities an extension of and she believes that the more people that are exploring their sexuality and really sort of able to reconcile what their desires are the more peace they'll be and it seems like your character comes from a great place love me. I think that I'm Amanda. She's an idealist. She believes that that we can accomplish this on an she really believes that the eight races can live together in case as one. And it's complicated. It's difficult but she's the optimist in it all but don't mess with these character. Yeah you can talk about love but these are treacherous fierce women who we've been through a lot to make it to the stage of the game into to to survive as we have and and I think that I really love about it is normally in a show. You see a powerful man running the above the line and then you see a powerful man running the darker side in the message is to women and so maybe it will help create murky and today we have on spotlight. We have kind of a departure speaking again to a composer. This is Michael Penn who composes for the HBO Series Girls. Don't take a slight detour this week. But it's an interesting conversation and we chatted at San Diego Comic. That's been a blast dickey. Tinashe show yes. I did my sister's show With a bit of trepidation. Because I'd never done television before and I didn't know what the time schedules would be quickly. I was used to movies. Where you you? You have a block of time but you have a very finite you basically you have a case in. Hopefully it's not a lot of changes in just kind of go from there with a TV show. You've got new cuts of episodes coming rolling in all the time but it's been it was it was actually it actually worked out really really well and she'll and it's been great working with. Lena Dunham news the creative force behind. What's the funds so high score clever but there were ten in the first season and I assume the second season I'm starting now is also going to be sure and I think it's it's a start next year sometime. Much of new approach has to choose any particular kind of broader score. Well I knew that Lena was a big fan of the score that I had done for this sunshine cleaning and there were there is a certain sort of vocabulary of instruments when I used on that them. That's where I started as I started to score the show and broadened it out from there and I started to work on some some some some themes like based on The first episodes got which actually sort of ahead of time before the all the other Episode started roll in and so I had kind of put together some basic ideas and then I just let the let each episode dictate where I wanted it. Are you based in out here or are you? I'm out here. But they do their post other do. Yeah so yeah. Yeah so just way to accomplish between apple or something. I don't actually remember Because there is a lot of overlap and there are there are there were cuts and there were changes but but thankfully I have a fairly liberal kind of setup where I can. I can changes pretty quickly because I have a studio at home and stuff. So it's very helpfully stays so okay. One of the most important I think so. Yeah his nature of his death. When a quick turnaround our dollar yeah but the tragedy is that that there's there's a type of composing for television and Film. That's been that's been lost except for the very very high end high budget films. Which is you know. A big or Castrol Union based score which is a rare thing. These days of incentive fortunate. I like when I go look at old episodes of Columbo. I hear these big sweeping scores that I think my God. These guys had to do that in you. Know an hour and this kind of remarkable. Yeah I know film wise. The scores like the harming. Oh my God yeah absolutely. That would have to be a huge budget movie now. Yeah anything else. You're working in my You know I used to make records so I I WANNA do. I WANNA put out some of my own music again. I'm trying to find a way to do it. In this. In this world where musics no longer really a commodity odd reality but But I'm not one of those music should be free people. I think it's a tragedy that recorded music as its own thing is really relegated to this weird. Is it commerce as a charity world? So but I'll figure it out you read something right they into looking forward to what you do still watching season one and I'm enjoying okay. Good girls is available on. Hbo And you can also see it now on the HBO APP for your tablet who are also. You're drawing till next time. This is Tony till I don't have a very nice holiday weekend for those of you in. "Of this complaint. But after Jovan was killed the local press reported that apparently two women who worked for local television stations at spoken to the police about the relationship with van-de-velde the other woman is believed to be a friend of the first he sent the second woman flowers anonymously. She learned his identity from the florist and later discovered that he was involved with her friend. We have asked both the police and through the state's attorney's office if there is a complaint give us the dates is screwed Berg. Maybe he was out of state. We don't know one of the cops claims that he. Spoke with Jim and told them to keep away. But Jim says that never happened Jim was never arrested. He was never questioned then develop a flat out denies that he stalked. His former girlfriend says cred Berg, but the attorney also believes that whatever this woman told the police has become a central element, their suspicions about then develop. I think they are convinced that he is a weird guy. He says, I think she understandably got upset says a friend of felts who believes he really cared about this woman. He would phone her run into her on the street. He wasn't taking no for an answer David Grinberg iris son in law partner who went to high school and college with Venda Velde objects to this account, then Velde, he says, only ran into this woman and phoned her once Greg Berg denies that Vandevelde was pursuing her. The thing with Jim is this circumstantial evidence coinciding with his personal. Life says the friend here he is not letting go of a woman, and then people wonder was at the same Suzanne. Jovan was accepted into Vandevelde seminar strategy and policy in the conduct of war in September nineteen ninety eight she was among the one. Eight hundred sixty nine students who had applied for the forty places in that course and van-de-velde other seminar, the art of diplomacy during his time as dean of saybrook fend. Velde had also taught in the political science department, and he developed a reputation as one of the best lecturers at Yale. His teaching style was riveting, and creative to demonstrate how force changes the balance of power and international relations. He wants pulled out a fake, handgun in the middle of class, simulated negotiation. He organized diplomatic receptions for a students, and gave each of them, the assignment of answering a question about someone else in their class without letting that person realized that he or she was being pumped for information. He took them on field trips, including one to a nearby. Naval base tour nuclear submarine and says one student. We got to touch a cruise missile Jovan. Friends say began the semester like many students and thrall with Vandevelde indeed. She was impressed enough that she decided to do her senior essay with him as her advisor, actually, she had taken the unusual step of writing to senior essays the other international. Studies. She chose the subject and Venda Veld's area of expertise, the international terrorist Ozama bin, Laden who's believed to have mastermind the bombing of the American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania Vandevelde appeared equally taken with Jovan. I think he likes Susan's enthusiasm. It was flattering that a student would be so deeply involved in his topics as a student who was in the class, at some point in the semester. However, Jovan, Hasim seemed to falter. She didn't go on either of the two field trips she's lot. They were a waste of time says a friend of hers, she also had reservations about a project on terrorism. The project which was optional. But which the class had voted to pursue involved using the internet to show, how easy it would be for a terrorist to get information to create a weapon of mass destruction. We decided to.

"I think a little bit Saddam while Sodano hasn't arrived right here, right here. Oh there you are. I didn't sound many shots. If you had one really, you're that kind of a lightweight. I've been here, like ten minutes. The talk. I thought you were hiding over there hiding he's standing, I was standing right next to you. Okay. So let me ask you, you got the same text message. I mean, you believe that that's like a real text like, what is real tummy. It's up. Frankly, this it's a prank text. Why do you think it's a prank Tech's because, hey you responded way too quickly? And you open the show with Greg going on. Validated. I come on. I mean it's valid, but who really knows anything, nobody knows anything. But that's my point is that you and I are not going to receive that techs, and I also did my holiday. How would they have gotten clearly? That's why it's a prank and has to be someone that knows us. But it's from, like one of those legal not like from burner phone. I get it. But I sent that the screen shot of the text. Yeah. Okay. To five different people that would know. And I said, would this would any person that knows no? How to get such with me and Steve Mason. And everyone's like kinda hard other stuff floating around out there. Right. I mean I read it. Have you been reading in the read it I saw the guy who works for AG? I kind of literally have given us a diary for IRA minus thing, there's something to that guy. I may not I believe it's too well written do I believe it's to details. I believe that I believe that the stuff now listen. I believe some of the stuff in there can be true. I don't necessarily dig it as the gospel at this point, because it's one person's interpretation of what's happening. Also. We are going way deep into the weeds. If we're talking about read it at this point, aren't we? It's the time of year to go ways even meets, right? It's, it's we Tom media. Yeah. Yeah. It's always, we'd no. I just think like for the audience is what I'm saying like listening. Do they even know what we're talking about know what read it is know what the per- the person were discussing? They were Wayne it. So there's a person, right? Works allegedly were allegedly works for AG who owns the state. I don't think works for a g. I think works for a I was told a global brand manager. I thought it seemed fairly obvious thing. And he said he worked three G it seems in the thing, by the way, working is not insignificant. AG owns, like forty percents now at the Staples Center, the staple center. Yeah. So this person claiming to be in and all these high level meetings, or at least being able to encounter. Yup. All the people that are in play here. And apparently, glisten off information that way again. I'm not saying that, that stuff can't be right. But what I'm saying is, it's the interpretation of one person. It doesn't right? It's a one hundred percent accurate but isn't. Aren't all these reports. The interpretation of one person. All right. Chris anes tweeting New Orleans, close to an agreement that will give it landed the number four, pick in the two thousand nineteen NBA draft according to Yahoo sports there. You've got I would assume that maybe the eight they've got the eight again, and then a seventeen seventeen. Yeah. So some combination of those right? We'll get that done. They were expected to trade that all along. Yeah. Yeah. In their one anybody in their one Isaac Bunga. So here's Joan you'd have not deal. How you'd have to like, if you're rob Pelinka your goal here is to get at Landa take take all those guys look up Atlanta 's roster. See how many open spots, they have in that will tell you, they can pull this off or not. I mean it's just that simple. It's not obligate would condition that, well, the Lakers would have to call the hawks like Travis link, but they don't have to take those guys. Oh, no, no. If the sea hawks for like, we don't need, I had the same conversation before the blue preview yesterday with Greg Berg review..

"Eight seven seven thirty seven sixty six sixty six and look I understand it's fifteen games in new a baseball season. And. A lot can happen over the course of one hundred and sixty two games. It's not the fact that the Yankees just simply losing these games. It is the look the feel St. overall stated roster. There's a whole lot of talent. That is not there that sitting there on the injured list, no timetable, quite yet on Giancarlo Stanton. No timetable quite yet on Erin. Hayes still waiting in seeing mcgillion do hall. He'll find out about Gary Sanchez. Tana's on Friday. I mean, it just made matters that much worse. So we set a dodgers last year under five hundred at some point during may rallied back when it division with these win over ninety games go all the way to the World Series. But that's tough predicament. You don't wanna dig yourself that much a massive hole. And we know the AKIs will eventually stop points and better baseball. But you don't want to see like two thousand five or two thousand seven over. Again. Remember two thousand five Anke started eleven nineteen. They rallied to win ninety five games. But it was a grinding entire season two thousand seventy Yankees under five hundred at the end of June and had to go on an incredible run. Just to make the postseason. This season was supposed to be fall more than digging yourself out of a massive hole. And it appears that's where the Yankees added. Let's head to flushing. Good pal. Bruce up next. Bruce. Day for your points. If I Karen, Bruce, let's do a baby number one last week. When I was. Game and see free coming up, and I tell myself, okay. Show me something. What's so call right back seat here for purpose show me something and he did. And I truly believe that that back and the phone back has saved his career because up until then didn't show much. He's been cartoons. And and you know as the Yankee working to make an impact in. So I really think that was made been does it back saved his career, Bruce. You know, what what Clint Frazier moving forward? And we know it's some point the Yankees will have some of the cavalry returning. It ain't Kuna be debate. In my opinion. I wonder if you agree or disagree Quin Frazier brick corner with the quality Vic batch were seen from those two individual players you and I both know couldn't Frazier is gonna deserve those at bats Brett corner. Yeah. I believe it's when you come back for it for a supposedly little timing back to last this long, some of the guys Franken wife taking someone I don't understand that. But but but let me get back to my next point Greg Berg Greg Burgess. She's saying now what happening with Greg bird. He's cases I want. I want to show me this past week. Why freighter showed me and he didn't and that sap at Saturday so replay after after Sabbath and was. Couple of play. So lucky Brucie should've easily hidden four six double play. Great great point. So the fact that bird. Something I I had made my decision. Hey birds and time to move them. Coming. That's point. Problem. Last year was the Yankees way too long. Two six. Was a problem with the hitting and took them wait too long to get cotton. And you look at this team. Yeah. I know people are gonna come back, but you need to do something. Now. Manager, but you need to impact on line up. Now, here's a question, Bruce. How are you doing that in the middle of April? How you doing that? Because I'm seeing. The fact that birds nothing to help me. So you get a left handed first baseman Sand Lake, and I got two guys in mind. One is is try five up. Uh-huh. Why does Chicago Cubs midway to April going to trade, you couch Wilbur, I tell you why? That's why I dead bullpen is a question. Mark injuries Maoist coming back, even though you're so in hand with Batanes injured, I think need to give up on your bullpen guys to get swab plus giving Greg bird. I like the warriors who I think has a light one. But to me, basically pointing picture and to me history bullpen, anyway relieving giving Chicago Cubs, and you get to come bird, and you give them the twice. A cat green on the wiser. But what did he do with Greg bird? They have a first baseman Dave, Anthony Rizzo. What does Chicago Cubs don't want? Greg. They can't they don't want him down in the minor leagues. Like, yeah. Bruce on the surface to the Yankees need left handed power. Absolutely. I'd want to get my hands on a left handed power back. It's also the middle April. I understand you point about the cubs bullpen. It's not very good right now. The cubs are going to sit here and tell you we got refocused on the way, we got brain immoral come. Craig birds comes what the hell the cubs. Greg bird. I grew u- I'm fed up with Burt. I've seen enough of Greg bird. The patience has run out. He's been given a golden opportunity. He is not made the most of it. He's been dreadful not hitting for power not getting on base. Not even performing well in the field. The minute the pack want to see less. Eliza Greg bird. Doesn't mean. The Chicago Cubs are going to want to take them off your hands. Let's say to Manhattan, Mike is up next. And he's on a foul, Mike. Hey, good evening, then thank you for taking my call. Thank you. Tiger with a master's, man. I don't I don't watch golf. I really don't play golf, and I call the fan many times never thought that. I would call talk about golf. But here, I am you what these guy did? He's on a believable. I mean, we saw this idol full full so hard. I remember in nine I was going to do a very tough time my show, and I remember the Yankees won the World Series, and then against the Phillies, and then a couple of months later, the whole Tiger Woods story hate, and I was going through a very tough time myself personal stuff. And I it was it was Irie, you know, being in my car going from job interviews and listening to fan and listening to Tiger Woods thing unfold. And going to myself like this guy's a human being, you know, and and then as I rebuilt myself over the last ten years. So did he the story goes beyond sports? It is unbelievable. I got goosebumps today. I didn't even watch any of it. I just watched some of the highlights. Oh, my God this guy what he didn't just like a little tournament. He won the master's. So for me. It was very sentimental for me going through a tough time in nine watching his idol fall and my life falling apart ten years later down thirty nine twenty nine hundred time things are rocking and rolling. Never even better. So grateful so grateful and to see this guy. It's very eerily. Beautiful to see what he did. I ended by related a lot with the guy that did not want to give up. No. I think it's unbelievable. I'm very happy for you. And I'm glad that everything is going well for you and your shirt and your wife is doing fantastic. And I remember where I was in two thousand nine I was doing radio, Houston York, and Tiger Woods was the iconic viscounts. Tiger Woods was bulletproof tiger wood is could as it gets on the golf course. He this squeaky clean image. And I'll be honest by when Tiger Woods was at his peak. I didn't particularly like them because. I thought he was too good. I like rooting against him. I was always a film Mickelson guy. But as de stories came out, listen, I'm not defending his behavior is on his wife and all the women that were involved, then you had. Potty breaking down. Mike what we love this country more than anything else. Is it good ole fashioned comebacks story. We're four we like to build people up we like to break them down. And then arise from the ashes. That's what we have with. Tiger woods. Tiger Woods was at the top of the mountain. He was this once in a lifetime Tampa golfer, and we ask good as it gets for over a decade, then we'll never crash and now Mike he's back winning a major. It's a real turnaround. I I will never I know. I know I will never forget, man. He was nine twenty nine years old grew up in Long Island drugs alcohol. Just everything was added control added control. And I'm listening to the radio, and it was just an I'm just going to myself. I'm falling apart. Everything's falling apart. What is done, and it was and then, you know, I started to get get back on my feet, and you know. Do my thing sober five years now. And then I saw the DUI which was not that long ago with Tiger Woods. And I said, oh, you know, what I say damn it would only years ago with the d we you know, that he had an I mean he kept fighting. He kept fighting back, and it's not it's not about. Yes. He had the money could retired and done all that he loves to gain. And I think he's spirit needed to. He he just had to show. I don't know. I can't even. Very simple. He could go. No, listen, he has more money than basically, but his comes down to Mike. It's the ideal proven people wrong. It's the idea of showing people guess what? Even though these players younger stronger entering those athletic career could still beat them. It was possible year ago. No way. When Tiger Woods was just came back on a golf course. You'll like, wow, it's great to Tigers playing. It's great that he's feeling great. Then you watched him at the British in the PGA championship said, you know, what this guy's.

"In the answer. Be. No, there's not a match their first off eight in listened, Alex. Gordon listen to Chris sale after yesterday's game. The Red Sox clubhouse, you know. They're talking about going to work moving forward. And I think that's the right approach. But you know, this Josh is a Red Sox fan one of the big issues. They have this year is they have to make some really difficult choices with Zander Bogart's is a free agent coming up. Jackie Bradley, jR, after next year. Mookie Betts at some point has to get paid Rik Sella's a free agent after this year. I think it was rob Bradford of W E. I wrote a story the other day that Portillo's Representative reach out to the Red Sox asked about an extension, and I don't know exactly the tone of the conversation. But he was politely put off this is why the Red Sox at this point. They have to draw a line. In the Santa they have the highest payroll of baseball. But they got some big bills. Come and do I was going to say the bills for the the World Series title or coming due sooner rather than later? And like you said they're going to have to make some difficult decisions in my freaking out about yesterday. No, I'm not, but we know Chris sales history. He's you know, tended to fade down the stretch of seasons in his career, you expect a good first-half though. And so this continues much further into the first half of the season. I might start to get a little bit more concerned Warwick Greenville at Warwick underscore Jason says, hey, guys, how do you see the Voight bird situation playing out once Aaron Hicks is ready to go? Do you see way more time for Stanton in the outfield or one of the first base guys going down to AAA Warwick? When I covered the Yankees, Joe Torre was the manager. Joe would always smile sort of hypothetical questions like that. And he would essentially saying so many words, don't worry. The baseball gods will will will will. Settle that. In other words, something will happen to address that issue. Somebody will get hurt. So maybe even after Hicks comes back know, Greg bird envoy will stay on the roster that all said just answer your hypothetical. I think Yankees I think we're fully prepared beginning campus in one of these guys down, and I think it's going to be Greg Berg because my God. And I get it. Greg bird had a great spring. Luke. Void his been nothing other than an all star level offensive players since he joined the Yankees. And I think he'll remain with the team. Greg bird would go down. But again, Joe Torry would say don't worry injuries. We'll take care of things exactly. Finally, the starting block at the starting blocks is three years ago. It seemed like a no brainer that Clayton Kershaw would be considered the best pitcher of his generation. However with his inability to stay on the mound..

"I checked that's where I was. I woke up the twenty. I think that's where I'll be tomorrow morning as well. So our plan is the time of year when you wake up and you look at the phone next to the hotel bid because you've not town you're in. Yeah. Absolutely. I've been there. We have Pat forty on earlier we talked about this throughout the show today. But this week sixteen very chalky as they say, I mean, a lot of really small numbers next to those names. What are your feelings about this Sweet Sixteen that does it have sister Jean doesn't have Davidson it doesn't have any of that in there? I think, you know, look, I mean, we all enjoy those stories because they're kind of unexpected and exciting and fun. I was in Florida Gulf Coast. It's thing in Philadelphia. We all enjoyed sister Jean last year is kind of what March madness is all about. But if you look at these games as a pure basketball fan and you look at the matchup. We've got coming up here this week and then going forward through the weekend. I mean my goodness hurt. There's some really good teams with some really great game. So mature basketball standpoint, you can't really be disappointed. I just you know. Of course, we all root for the underdog when we can, of course. Well before we get to really dig into the tournament. I want to ask you about NATO tes. But that news broke just shortly not too long ago after we started the show, obviously, it's foul ball shows a lot of reaction here. What was your reaction when you saw that higher? I that was a slam dunk of a higher by Greg Byrne because listen mate is going to be on everybody this year. I mean, essentially is based on what he's done at buffalo. He's you know, rejuvenated that program they were legit top twenty five team pretty much all season. He was going to be the guy from that level. If you will that somebody was going to land in Alabama a team that you know, let's face. It hasn't really moved the needle at basketball landing him. I I think speaks volumes through what Greg Berg once that program to be and what it potentially can't be. So I thought I think that's a big statement by Greg Byrne and by Alabama about what they're going to do with basketball down there. It's a great hire. It's what it does. We don't know what he's going to do until he tweets which is. That's that's a good athlete or director right there. Right. I mean, nobody can keep a secret. Greg bird, certainly hit during it for us. That's a that's how about that. So what what the until tournament you're in Louisville. Tell me what we're going to see. But what when we check back in with you on Monday. What will have happened their view level? Well, look, I just by saying that since October my national championship game has been good zag versus Tennessee. I'm very grateful to the selection committee for allowing that to stay alive. Size of the bracket. So, you know, look, I'm all in Tennessee. I have been I visited them a lot this year. And I just just so impressed. I o game not was fanny with their intelligence with their toughness with their experience. I just thought that's all the intangibles that you need also been you count in the number of great players. They have on that team. So I just feel like you know, what that that the that? I I have loved since October. I think they're gonna come outta here. But you know, what Virginia look I mean, we've all talked about the UNBC killer ready to throw up, but they obviously put that that to rest, and that's a really good basketball team. I mean, I think that they're going to be a formidable opponent because they now have got past that I feel like I don't know..

"Then on Thursday afternoon, it starts to count real Yankee baseball Joe, and I will be broadcasting live from stadium. Like, we always do though we actually did last year because opening day was snowed out. Which was I tell you created a moment. I'll never forget. Because I got there early. I went up to the booth the stadium even though there was no way they were gonna play this game. There were four or five inches of snow, and I was able to take pictures. I'll never forget that is Yankee Stadium just covered in pugs of snow with I think graphic that said opening day two thousand eighteen meanwhile, they play they play it the next day. I think it was a four o'clock starts we never got to do show from Yankee Stadium. But we will be there on Thursday and Sweeney Murdy is joining me, a very special Saturday appearance, sweetie. I feel like. If I'm in luck today. How are you? Could he doing I never ask you to come on Saturdays because I feel like I would be cheating. I feel like Richard near you have a very deep relationship on Saturday. Well, you'll like it would be there would be something underhand about it. No, I'm allowed. Yeah. Listen, we can split up a couple hours if you want I actually had do a last-minute castle on I was scratched from Richard lineup late scratch because there's some called out stuff. I had to cover down here. But yeah. Happy to be on with you. So what was the clubhouse stuff another extension who's got an extension? Yeah. I wish those are those are the kinds of things we got to talk about the only the only big news today is that and you're Aaron Boone was quick to call us back in and tell us the reason for a Greg. Berg was scratching lineup today. Said it was completely my decision Busa ill Burt could've played today. He's wanted to give him an extra day and he's gonna play tomorrow. So there was nothing that alarmed them and batting practice during that verdict EP on the field today. He said not just wanted to give an extra day games on council. That's what's happening. And that may be true. But there is always going to be from Yankee fans, and for myself included, a healthy skepticism about the health of Greg bird until he proves otherwise. That's why when that's great came out a few days ago. Not joked but sit on the air. Okay. We'll see Greg Byrne July because that's been the track record over the last four years. Agreed. Yeah. I mean, you know, something he's been fighting. You know, and you know, I think he was kind of the day that he got hit. He just said. Yes, fine. Although you probably do that it hurt. He wasn't going to tell us that you know, he's been trying to avoid being hurt guy the spring. But now he's done that. He's got a good. There's only one thing you can do I guess now Yankee fans feel about seeing Greg bird hidden spring training. But what was the alternatives if he didn't it spring training? You just say the guys thinks he doesn't deserve any chances at all right? He did what he what he can control staying on the field, and and try and stay healthy. He hasn't really done that in two years. So I think it was a big step for him to just feel like he could go out there and swing the bat again. And he did it all spring. We are talking to sweetie Murray. And his Yankee report is brought to you by interstate batteries every battery for every need and by your Mercedes Benz tri-state dealer. Visit MBA USA dot com. So much can change in spring training when we were talking in middle of February about Luke void and Greg bird. We didn't realize there's a chance Aaron Hicks isn't going to be ready on opening day, which changes everything because it looks like is going to play a lot of Senator John is gonna play a lot of left as we sit here today less than a week before opening day. Do you think that both Greg bird and Luke void at least until Hicks is ready? Both get an opportunity right out of the gate, or do you still look at it as one or the other at this point? No, it's going to be one of the other eventually, but you know, for the first week of the season Teleranek says back it's going to be both of them on the roster the Yankees just get to delay that decision a little bit early in spring when Aaron Boone is there any scenario were because people these guys. Well anyone? Yeah. Of course, of course, that was really code for somebody gets hurt and exit the one that got hurt. So we'll see he has not really ripped of activities yet. This isn't Hixon's an injury that they everybody thought was minor at the time. And now it's been three weeks, and he hasn't really started to the road back and he said he feels better. But until you start seeing them on the field, you're still a couple of weeks away. Here. You know, Hicks talked about being ready by perforce. I aid be eligible to come off. The I L and he is not gonna make that day. Little overly aggressive on. That date is what Boone says a fist. Point. So. Yeah. Until until that decision has to be made. They don't have to choose what they will choose. Eventually. They are going to choose one one guy to stay on this roster. Another guy who's going to be a triple. So right now on opening day. You've got Aaron judge you guys Giancarlo Stanton. You've got Brett Gardner whose importance is through the roof right now because he's a center fielder, and he can still play centerfield. I think at a pretty high level, and I guess you're going to have Tyler Wade is a super utility guy. Are they comfortable with those four guys on the major league roster being the only true outfielders? Yeah. I mean, I think they had the plan along was for four true outfielders and wait ends up kind of the next weights pretty comfortable out there. You know today is going to be interesting. He's playing center today with Gardner playing left. And I you know, I I said to him. I said you gotta be okay to wait. If you're gonna be okay. Taking charge know. Yeah. Watch I'm gonna call them off. He's yeah. He's pretty confident out there. I'm waiting to see the ball. It gets in the left center because it's a lot different Aaron Hicks play centerfield calling up right guard. There's one thing in a weight is played center before a little bit here recently. But he never played it with Brett Gardner to to his right? So I'm waiting for those balls out there where he's gonna have to call these guys off and kind of take charge. You know as long as nothing else happens. These guys I think they're pretty comfortable but Gardner is going to be the one who having Brett Gardner play a lot in April is not the issue. Having him play a lot in August September. You wanna space these days out and try to get him some rest so that he's fresher towards the the second part of the season which is storage. He has not been in the short term. With excel. I think it's less of an issue as you got becomes a longer term that it becomes a bigger way playing center field or more of an experiment than anything. Because I would assume if both guys are in the lineup on a given day Brett Gardner is my center fielder. Not Tyler Wade. I agree. I think. You know? No, I can't see a situation in a regular season lineup where gardeners and left in weight isn't center. I think this is a way of getting him some more reps and center, and and simply that, but yeah, it's you're going to see Gardner play centerfield probably exclusively. I would think. And depending on the schedule falls you've got after opening day you've got one day off. And then you've got I believe six games in a row. Including some at least one day after night. I think you're gonna see Brett Gardner of every day. But you if sounds like you're not going to be afraid to play Tyler Wade and center. Goes you have to stay. That's asking that's asking a lot of got to play six days in a row with daft nights about I give gardener this because I was skeptical on the decision to bring him back, and it's in the short term working out big time because of his ability to still play centerfield. I've always viewed Brett Gardner as a center fielder that's playing field. And I think that's part of why he's been so good defensively in left field. He's been a gold glove caliber player. I think most rosters in the last five years Sweeney. I think he would have been more than capable center fielder. So they've had this luxury. I think of playing a true center fielder in left field for the last bunch of years. And if he'll you know, what Yankee Stadium is three ninety nine center having the ability to have a second center fielder cover that kind of ground is very important. As defense is is premium they consider he's been a gold glove finalist, but three years in a row now, he's a plus defender on a team that really doesn't have a lot of plus defenders scouting perspective. Our Nixon Didi gregorius both of whom are injured or other plus defenders on this team right now as as you look at it as a defensive unit, the only real plus defender is Brett Gardner out there as much as you know, a lot of what happened is five year was August September it was because Aaron judge was hurt. Giancarlo Stanton nursing am strings, so he had to play maybe more than you. Ideally wanted. To everything that I took note of with Gardner is earlier this month. I had an all star pitcher tell me he hates facing Brett Gardner because of the tough the bats are and you're talking about a lot of full of sluggers. This guy's talking about Gardner. He says it strike one strike two. And then it's take ball. One Babol take ball to foul. Ball foul ball. So all of a sudden, I'm staring at a seven or eight pitches back, and when you're facing that at the bottom of the order before turning it over, and you know, they judge Stanton Sanchez everybody is looming. Again, that's a really tough thing for a pitcher. And they are taking notice we're talking to sleet about the Yankees. What's the status of Severino right now? Yeah. Just a couple of days of throwing on flat ground took a day off. 'cause as mother throw day. I mean, he's still you're still looking at least about a month before you can start thinking about having a back in rotation. Yeah. Brian Cashman throughout. May really kind of just ease the pressure of the timelines because he really needs to built back up again. When you're talking about a starting pitcher you're talking about five six weeks worth. And you're really the first week here. A building a backup sess in the rotation. He's earned it. I give them a lot of credit. I'm skeptical about what's going to happen. Once the games count. But the guys had a brilliant spring training her mind versus low wise ago who gets the fifth spot..

"Day. One of the NC double A tournament is now in the books, and it was for the most part pretty blase day. One of the NC double A tournament thing. Get that signature buzzer beater that we've had in years past thing get that signature upset that we've had in years past at a couple of interesting games data couple interesting matchups certainly the highlight and the headline of Thursday as far as I'm concerned is going to be two fold one John Moran, and the performance he had putting up a triple double light in the world of fire embarrassing the Marquette golden eagles. John Moran, basically asked themselves to America. Hey, I know you've been hearing a lot about Zawahri of said, I know you've been hearing a lot about audit Barrett. But guess what I could pull out too. And it's the reason why all these big boards that these draft experts. Have i've. Featured in the top three because I could go out and play and on any given night. I can go out and dominated game. He dominated a team that was basically in the top twenty five year. Puts up triple double. Twelve seed Murray state gets passed by now I have a very tough game with four to state on Saturday. That Cinderella number. One Cinderella number two. And unfortunately, Seton Hall was on the wrong end of this. It's Wofford and Wofford and Murray state, or what you love about the NC double A tournament because they don't get a whole lot of acclaim drought the regular season, but they have players who have a chance to become these iconic figures, you know, you'd think about certain players over the years in college basketball. So went up making a name for themselves. NCWA tournament and others who just have like that flash. In a pan moment. Kevin pit snuggles. Name always loved thrown out. That one being the West Virginia mountaineers the guy looked like he was a West Virginia mountaineer, but for like three or four days, I want to say in like two thousand six could miss guided incredible running against tournament, and these are like the likable or the hateful figures that you're a member for quite some time. Well, Wofford has a guy who's got a chance to be evolving of this tournament Fletcher McGee, and you felt for Seton Hall because dad to go up against them. And it was a very weird game because Wofford was super hot early. They built the early lead. And basically saying it's not going to be Seton hall's, not a Seton Hall team that photo year for Kevin Willard, Seton Hall team that worked their way into the NCW tournament over the final couple of weeks you figure they ran out of gas. But then miles pal against going and NC gets going and all of a sudden you look up and knee Wofford lead, which was around aid. Nine ten. Stern Seton Hall lead. What about nine minutes to play? Seen whole bills the lead. They feel good about things Powell is cooking and have fled should McGee and Wofford takes over the final seven minutes, and again and the all time three point score and NCWA history. How to cook in at work in and the pirates had no answer. So you have two teams that of from small conferences that had big time stars that have a chance to maybe capture America's imagination. We'll see if they can do it on Saturday. For Murray state will be against Florida state, and guess what? It's going to be far more difficult. China score against four estate near Atlantic. Deep on believable roster coming out of the ACC compared to a Marquette team that doesn't have all out of athleticism. Then you look at Wofford they get the chance of a lifetime. Taking on the Kentucky. Wildcats the ultimate blueblood Kentucky not having PJ Washington of Wofford consider like that again. Unfortunately, as you know, probably not in the best of spirits this Friday morning because my alma mater Syracuse is packing up the bags for the first time in thirteen years. Syracuse has been knocked out in around the sixty four and it was up and down game with Baylor. Syracuse performed by offensively pretty well. Boy, they missed Frank Howard, twofold, one the top two to three zone at villages had another three point shot. My goodness. They put a clinic on when it comes to trying to attack at China go after that vaunted two three zone of Jimmy behind and accused they went after that two three zone. A embarrassed to tutor is up. Then you had searchers where down on offense because you'd have your point card. Got ties battle your best player bringing up the ball out to the Salt Lake City. He's going to run out of gas tough break. Syracuse would've liked to have seen Syracuse Gonzaga on Saturday. But the end of the day was a mediocre Syracuse team all year. So I'm not that surprised the other big takeaway from Thursday NCWA tournament Assad from New Mexico state who just had a golden chance to steal from Auburn passed up away up that was wide open the game. They should get fouled. They want three. They got another chance, and they miss another wide. Open three is that kind of that. But Tom is taking a lot of heat for what happened in their game against Bradley. Where he's very frustrated one of his players. He gives one of his players one of those like chess pounds, basically saying come on baby. Let's go not this ridiculous narrative, you're hearing now all over the place Bitam is always abusive to his players, which in my opinion is the total budget crap. That's the way I look at it why because he's point his finger and a player's face. I mean, like that's some sort of crime like that's something that should be frowned upon head coach sometimes when your head coach you got to do what is necessary to command your players to command a huddle to command respect. Tom. Izzo took a swing at one of his players. Izzo took one of his players airman ahead. I have a problem with it. Tom Izzo taken one of his players to task. I mean, are we going to be that sensitive? Are we going to overreact that much? Coach K to after one of his players in the heat of a moment. Tournament. Some of the fallout from social media, and I'm going to be honest. Those embarrassed I was embarrassed by somebody takes that were out there. That pains me. Because it just speaks to the soft society times that we live in. Look, I don't want is being abused. The coach has to have certain level respect for his players but point in a player's face. "Sixty six WFAN and WFAN FM New York. These spring training battles are hilarious because think about who guys are facing when they're in the spring training battles. Right. So you've got the Yankees were the first base battle. He got the mess with the first base battle who is Dom Smith hitting against who is Greg bird hitting against Luke. Void hitting against. That's why spring training battles per se are very very tough to read. Now, if one guy is clearly outperforming the other guy, and you've determined that you want to make that decision based on spring training that makes it easy. But when you look at the four guys battling for first base jobs in New York. They've all been productive. What are we? We're going to parse numbers in spring training. We're going to say, well, you know, great Burks for a average than Luke. Boy. I mean, they're both hitting they're both performing now. The Yankee first base debate is very very annoying to me because there should. Be a first base debate number one both guys should make the team assuming they're competent. All right. It should not be a choice. Now, Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman have made it clear, it's a choice for only bringing one guy. So right off the top. I inherently disagree with them. I don't think it should be. I think carrying thirteen pitchers is excessive. Now, I think there's more of a case for carrying thirteen pitchers today than there was two weeks ago because of the uncertainty in the rotation and the fact that you're gonna fill out the rotation with guys who you're not as confident is going to go deep in a games the way Luis Severino has put thirteen pitchers is still an awful lot. And I get a big part of why they have to do it is that Louis Sesa is out of options and God forbid, they lose them can't lose Louis Sessa and more. So today because he is going to start the year on the DL because Severino is going to start the year on the DL. Boy, the Yankees could use twenty six men on the roster which will start next year. Probably not this year. But if you're gonna decide between Luke void and Greg bird, and you can tell me all day that Greg birds a lefty and Greg bird fits this lineup more and Greg bird is better defensively. You can give me that all day. Mike counter to that would be last year when Greg bird played baseball and he played half the season. He won ninety nine. That's my counter it eleven home runs. That's fine. Decent pop. He had one ninety nine. You don't care about average. Okay. He had a six seventy two. Oh PS. Let me explain that for those who don't care about it stinks. The guy is a career to fourteen hitter. But he's at thirty one home runs in one hundred and seventy six games fine. He has not stayed healthy. And he hasn't produced in the last two years most of his production came in two thousand fifteen that was four years ago and the postseason in two thousand seventeen I don't want to ignore that. Because that maps hit two home runs in the AL ES against the Indians. I'm not ignoring that he had production in the postseason. That's what Greg bird dead. Now. Luke boy comes over here and hits freaking three thirty three. He had fourteen home runs. He had an old PS near eleven hundred. So ask yourself this question. No matter what Greg bird doesn't spring training to Grado matter. What Luke void doesn't spring training? Lefty righty. Whatever are you really going to take a guy who you traded for last year. He hit three thirty three. He had fourteen home runs and forty games. He is. Actively said my goal is to win a gold glove. Not hit forty home runs. He sang all the right things. You're gonna put that guy in AAA. Really you're going to do that. How how could you do that? Now if Lugovoi plays in April and hits one forty five fine down. I'm not telling you you've got to marry Luke Voy. I'm not saying you've got to make a long term commitment to look void. I'm not suggesting that what I'm suggesting is that how could you possibly send Luke void to AAA based on all of the regular season numbers that Greg bird, and Luke void have shown you over the last year or plus and Greg birds case, it's not a debate. And if it's close at all, even if it wasn't close the decision is, Luke. See what the decided to do. I think the eighties preferred Greg bird because he's a lefty I think they prefer Greg bird because they love Greg bird. But that being a debate is frustrating Alonzo, Dom Smith is a different story. Okay. I- Dom Smith is still easing that. Greg. Berg league of Smith has been given so many opportunities. I don't care what he doesn't spring training. You know, there's nothing Dom Smith is gonna do that's gonna make me believe in them. I'm on at that point with the guy. I think him coming into camp in good shape gives you new hope he still only twenty three years old. And so I think Dom has the edge for two reasons he has the edge from defensive perspective. And I think he has the edge because of the service time situation that involves Peter Lonzo. So I think that's a true debate in both guys have perform opening day with Tanaka. Look, Masahiro Tanaka from an accomplishment standpoint should be the opening day starter for the New York Yankees. But whenever we get into these opening day debates, whether it's what the Yankees or whether it's the Mets it really doesn't matter. Because if I ask you as a Yankee fan who started opening day in two thousand eleven do you remember if I asked you as a met fan Rasco as big met fan he goes to a lot of opening days. I'm going to ask you right now. Rest going are you ready? Sure. All right. Opening day. And look it up two thousand thirteen who started opening day for the New York Mets thousand thirteen opening day New York Mets. Harvey. No, the answer would be Jonathan niece. But that's the point. Who cares? It doesn't matter that right after the big contract. I forget when they signed. And the funny thing is Giannis pitched really well and the Mets won that game. Eleven to two against the San Diego Padres on Monday, April. First two thousand thirteen Giannis pitched six and two thirds innings and only allowed two runs. And then the bullpen of Brandon Lyon, Scott atchison, and Scott rice shut the door after they pounded Edison volquez. You don't remember? That's the point. That's why. Yes, I think Tanaka deserves it I trust Tanaka more than any other Yankee pitcher in a big spot given the baseball assuming he Southie throw them out there. But it's it's it's become such an unmemorable thing. And what's funny is when I was a kid. It was a bigger deal. I don't know. What's happened? Maybe because there are just less aces. Maybe that's the thing. I don't know. It just doesn't seem to matter as much last year's another example Jacob degrom deserve to start opening day last year. He did it because he had a back issue at the beginning of spring training and a pushed him back about a week and that cost them opening day. It doesn't matter. Noah Syndergaard pitched opening day. I said, Luke our I don't even remember who pitch last year. Really, you don't remember that. There was no now. Now, I have vivid memories of it. Because and I expressed my feelings to how I didn't see the wreath. That's how we talked about that last year. The last couple of years, you may maybe you didn't realize this. The Mets have not been in our radio stations family. I don't know if people realize that they run a different radio station, and for that reason we do opening day from Citi field, and we stayed on the air to one. So when the show would end at one I would fly over the city field as fast as I could. And I would miss the first inning and a half to winning. So I would I wouldn't see the repeater. But unlike is it a reef or e af is that what it is. Now, it's a wreath, but W R E H, correct? Okay. Arief is like a barrier. Reef fishing, Carl hang out. I just want to confirm that should be the Twitter poll question. I could ask is it a reef or? I bet you a lot of people will get it wrong. I bet you anyhow. So I had to race over to the game as fast as I legally could. And what I'd never forget from last year is the abomination of what they did to the radio broadcast. They just they completely ruined. How he rose and Josh Lewin broadcast by putting I don't even remember who on and it annoyed me to no end. And so I remember specific like, Noah Syndergaard. But I just remember that first inning and a half because I was so angry that I was dealing with that. And now we don't have to deal with it 'cause opening day, we're broadcasting live from guess where city fail baby. But the opening day thing does it matter. The velocity thing. The velocity thing would Matanzas. It also really doesn't matter. Now, I know that when you see a guy, and here's the funny thing about spring training if Noah Syndergaard is throwing one zero one we freak out. What are you doing? It's spring training. You're throwing tour de LA Matanzas, those eighty eight oh my God. What's he doing? He's not throwing hard enough. What do you want? What's that? Perfect number guys. Get ready for the season in a very different way. You have to hope that if and Matanzas and feeling right? He's gonna say something the way Luis Severino did. So I try not to look at velocity good and bad and read too much into it. When we're in the middle of the season, and maybe not even the first few weeks of the year because don't even said a in may I'll be back to my, you know, my full velocity May June. And you see a number considerably down you start to get a little worried about it. But here in March, I don't worry about much and I've learned that over the years because I love spring training. I was there last week. I was at the game scoring the game. I'm into it. Put a week and a half in when I've already seen enough spring training baseball. I realized that all that matters is getting through this thing in one piece even the numbers. Don't matter. Wilson Ramos and Robbie can on the Mets side or having big camps. Gary Sanchez has done nothing offensively for the Yankees. None of it matters. That's why when we talk about battles for jobs, it's tough to read too much into it. Let alone the veterans do you? Remember rally Banias with the Yankees one Cam. I think he was like one for thirty five something absurd. Just couldn't hit. And by the end of it. We're all saying oh boy. Bagna seventy thing left in his forties. You know, maybe this is it for him is a veteran. Give him a shot and he starts the season red hot. So even with that good and bad. It's getting to opening day in one piece and both the keys in Mets haven't done that. So far Luis Severino is not getting there in one piece. We know that Arad Hicks is now become a question because of the back issue, though, I think they're very hopeful that he'll get there in one piece on the met side if I had to bet right now, I don't think Todd Frazier jet Lowry getting there. I think Jeff McNeil playing third base. Tomorrow is a big indicator of that. So it's really just get to March twenty eighth in one piece more than anything. Because right now, I am at the point. What are we less than three weeks from opening day, which is crazy, especially when you look outside? There's snow everywhere. I'm at the point where I'm just sick of it. Just get to the real stuff giving you the real baseball..

"How is doing. We miss them to New York and one to what he's doing these days. John as far as left and hitting. I agree with you. In fact, the guy I wanted was Harper Machado. Because you have a left-hander heading in back of judge. Wow. What a combination, but they're going to hang in there. Right. Handers hit right righties better than lefties hit lefties. And so, you know, be back sometime in the summer, Aaron Hicks left and Hooda Brett Gardner is a left hand hitter. Greg bird is a left hand. So I don't I don't really see it as a very big problem. It'd be a little problem. Anyway, all teams make changes during the year. So of the do have a lot of problems facing righties, they'll go out and get a left odor. Well, here's a his kind of interesting, Bruce one thing that if you look at the way teams are going about things right now, Kyle Schwab is really nice hitter. Where are you going to put him because he is not a good defensive player? Look what they've done they've getting people that complain multiple positions. So that you can move around the G H. You don't wanna stick guy and have him sit. There. You got a lot of people. There is not a good leftfielder. I mean, he's going to go back to being a catcher, what's he gonna do? And that's the. Problem that the Yankees now are going with all around players. This team also is not a pull happy team. And you'll see a lot of right handed hitters going. The other way. I think you can't really make a decision on judge was playing with a broken wrist for months, and I don't care that. He said he was that. He was better on it's fine. That's the last thing. I remember Don Bailer, Joe Castiglione telling me that the last thing that happens when you break your wrist. It's really bad, and you're not gonna get strong until the next year. So I don't think you saw what this team can do. And I have great hopes for Greg Berg that he is going to be still in the middle of this lineup that maybe he can maybe he complained tune with Luke white, and he can we can get a first baseball tune going like that. And you know, as John said, you know, what this team does the team that leaves every year, John, and I go through who's gonna make the team who's gonna go north and by Joey got an entirely different team out. There are a lot of it. And that's what happens in this lady. You weren't answer your part of the western job question about that. And anytime you have an injury between your fingertips and your elbow. Your baseball player. That is a big time problem my purse, thanks for asking you about my son Duke, he spent eighteen years in New York, New York one then CBS, and then FOX five for the last ten years or so we really loved it. He misses New York when he did come home the Boston, and he's anchoring newsy. Just come back from the Super Bowl where he covered the world champion patriots. And he's enjoying himself. But he does miss New York. And you must be glad because you've got the grandkids. And we have a four year old granddaughter at home with us. So that makes it this sweetser. We're happy to have him home. And especially to have little Charlie home, the youngest of our six, grandchildren. Eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six our number are both in New York and Boston Manny in New Hampshire. You're next up on the fan and w e Manny. How old are you? I'm fine. How to get along with? A giant fan. Along with it. Been a long winter in New York because the giants who terrible. The jets had terrible. The Rangers are out of the playoffs at this moment. Excuse me. And the Knicks have I would say a historically bad team. And I go back to Braun and gallatin, and sweets and Dickie McGuire. And they have they have at the moment. Lost twenty five out of twenty seven game. So yeah, it's been very up in New York. They can't wait for the Yankees. And the Mets for that matter. I was the cavalier team that finishing fifteen and sixty seven it's no fun. It's hard to do. You have a question here. Real quick. What do you pick out by chance withdrawal any way possible? You know? I think no surprise me before. Well, first of all teams, never tell the truth. So is it possible? They could sign Machado and Harper or Harper, I guess, but I don't want him to sign Machado. Because of they signed Machado. They have to get rid of Miguel and do Har and he's one of my favorites is a guy in his rookie year to ninety seven with twenty seven homers a ninety two Rb it's and that was his rookie year. I think he and Torres are going to become too great players. So I hope they don't get Machado. Never know. What's going to happen that I can recall vividly and before the two thousand four season the Red Sox not they had deal for Alex Rodriguez? And when that fell through the players association put pressure on them not to sign the contract and take a pay cut. All of a sudden the Yankees came out of nowhere. And that changed the course of history. I've got a question for you. What do you think would have happened in Boston had Alex played there? Well, we wouldn't have had a fight with Jason Varitek. That's true. Yes. And he wouldn't have slapped the ball out of bronze. Hands either. But I don't know it. To how history might have been different. But I think it worked out pretty well the way it did. And he did play hard though. I mean, he had some issues off the field. And of course, some of the indiscretions on the field. But I think he probably would have been welcomed and Benchley lobbed any would have certainly flourished at Fenway as a hitter, she showed me would've Susan mentioned this to me the other day after Alex Rodriguez was down the suing major league baseball, knocking me Yankee doctors and yada yada, yada. And just a couple of years. He's come all the way back. He is the darling of the American media. It's amazing to me. He had had on the Super Bowl, Alex and Mr. peanut in the sober bowl. Peanuts back and forth. He also now has his own YouTube channel, and he's on CNN or not CNN watch the stock station staint CNBC, right? And he's done. He's like totally turned his whole life along. You gotta get by the way Yankees. Don't win the World Series in two thousand nine without Alex. Was they don't get to the world. That's right. Some great home run in late innings against Minnesota and against Los Angeles. And then he hit a double or the game against Philly to knock in the winning run. This when Damon stole two bases on one play, and Alex I will say this. He said that's the biggest hit of mica room. I remember a fifteen inning game. Janine cheetahs our made his major league debut in the fifteenth any Yankee Stadium and they ride walked him. I got a story about that. I got a story about that. Yankees are playing Boston there as usual fighting for first place, and they have this unbelievable game fourteen scoreless innings. I can't name the announcer because I don't want to get him into trouble. But I know two guys who were doing a game late on the west coast, and they keep following this achey Red Sox game. Finally, hey rod homered in the fifteenth inning. And and one of the guys turn to his his partner and said, do you think anyone's listening to this game? You know that was the same game our buddy Dave SIMS who works for the Mariners. He they had finished a game. They got on an airplane and went somewhere and he got on the bus, and he turned on his phone. He said are you still playing they had gone from city to city and we're still playing that game. I remember that in that. So well, the thing that is amazing about about Alex. And what he has done. You're talking about the AKIs not telling you the truth. I remember firmly the day that Brian Cashman said right in my microphone. We are perfectly willing to go into this season with Bubba Crosby centerfield, and what two days later, Johnny Damon is Watson the clubhouse. So when you hear when you hear reporters? Including our wonderful Christie back there. Year reporters or broadcast is asked teams about injuries. Boy, if you believe that you'd believe anything though, I would run from that. And you know what? Harper and Machado, we'll be playing next year. Who knows where Joe what do you think? You figure the Phillies are gonna sign. What I would think they are both. But opera could hit fifty home runs. So good Machado in that Bandbox. Yes. But he could very well. Go back to Washington for a year and try to get his numbers up and get that big contract. Three hundred four hundred million whatever, I don't think, you know, you mentioned I didn't know the kimbro was asking for six years, and no one is signing a relief pitcher for six years most outside of mo- most relief pitches one good year and one bad year. And the reason they have one good year one bad year because when they have the Goodyear the manager uses them all the time. And so the next year they don't throw with the same efficacy. So that's why it's going to be very draining for the Red Sox, John because they play the extra month, and that extra month can really take a toll on a pitching staff for walk Tolbert to be very careful how you prepare it spring training when you talk to the guys in the nineties Andy Pettitte always talked about that they had figured it out once of how many extra months. That they had pitched pitching those extra months all those years year after year after year, which makes what happened in the nineties to me even more special than we thought it was absolutely Al Arbour the late great coach of the islanders after they lost. They won four straight cups, and then they lost in the finals to the eventual champion Edmund and Al said, you realize these guys have played the equivalent of at least one more season than anyone else. So that is true people forget that the postseason so exciting. The games is. So great. But it does take a toll in the Aki said that stretch under Joe, Tori. Where he managed twelve years and they made the playoffs twelve years. They want the World Series six years you have to win a lot of series to do that. That's a lot of baseball one of the things that we're talking about Machado when and Harper I don't think these guys I think they'd better. Silence on the I don't think anyone is going to get the years that they that. They think this game has changed. And look what look what the Yankees have done. Look what they brought in DJ LeMay who who can play everywhere. He goes the other way is a good contact hitter. He's a great defensive guys these guys that just play one position unless you're just a major major superstar. I just don't think it's just going to happen. I really don't I think they'd better get themselves in camp. Although JD did pretty good coming in the and he came at the end of February last year, and it forty three homers and knocked at one hundred thirty but the market is limited because there are so many teams who are quote unquote tanking and not in the position to sign or wanna sign people. Like that yet? Maybe when they get closer to being a winning product. They will. Do so. But right now, you're not going to have a team like Seattle or certainly the Marlins or the Texas Rangers or all down signing a guy like Machado or. Rallo San Diego some house in the mix. That's a big mystery. It's it's very odd. As as we sit here tonight. There are over one hundred unsigned free agents said many of them are really good players. In fact, I'd love to get a list. I've got some. I gotta lot here. Yup. It just amazing. How many really good players around the beach after all we're all going to spring training in another couple of weeks of the thirty clubs Twenty-three hasn't signed a deal for more than two years Twenty-three out of thirty. Here's some of the names that I wrote down on the way over here. Harper Machado Machado kaikal kimbrel. Mustafa's Marlin Gonzalez GIO Gonzalez. Adam Jones, Jose glycemic. Josh heralds Harrison, clay buckled to a great year last year back Ervin Santana and Evan gattis. I mean, those are just just really good players do. If in fact, Joe I have to ask you this. I'm Susan can. Comment too. I don't believe anything. I hear read. He doesn't know I've been on the air for forever. So I certainly don't believe. Anyway, did Washington really offer harbor ten years at thirty million a year, which is three hundred million if he signs he and his family for generations multi multi multimillionaires anyway, Joe, if if they did offer it, I think it was very wrong Scott Boris not to let him sign that. I guess what are your thoughts? We've read it. We don't know for sure that it's true. But for Scott Boras has a history of taking his clients deep into almost spring training before they sign and sometimes you overplay your hand. So it'll be interesting to see how this works out. And I'm told we have to take a break. So we'll be back with your phone calls Keith in Medford hanging there. Eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six is our number. I'm Susan woman along with Joe Castiglione, and John sterling we'll be right back. Hockey fans joined greater for Lauderdale for the ultimate pre-game.

"Copeland on KNB are six eighty sports leader. Did I love that line? I love it. Kobe decides to go into all the reasons that he could play still I just don't want to do it. By the way of video surfaced over the weekend. This is like the new thing. Now whenever a superstar basketball player a hall of Famer now has a kid who's on the rise. And by the way. Have we we haven't had like, a father son hall of fame duo in any sport. Have we? Bobby bonds close with berry, but not a hall of fame hockey. Now, the Inaki did holes. There you go in football, though, never. No matthews. I think the Matthews Matthews a hall of Famer. But I think he is going to how are we going to three generations is that why I I don't know if the older Matthews, I know Bruce is in the hall. You're right now in baseball. You figure Ken Griffey seniors is damn good and Ken Griffey junior. Of course, a hall of Famer the Ripken's no bonds you, and you know, the bells. No, see you've got you've got a lot where you get good father son combinations. But I've always thought like we could end up with the first father-son duo in the NBA playing on the court at the same time being LeBron James and brawny why can't think of a lot of NBA guys? I mean, Steph and clay in Kobe his dad played the NBA, but other than that there's not a lot of other guys that did. So this new phenomenon is is getting video of these young players where I mean, this happened a couple of years ago with sheriff O'neil when shack son who had heart surgery, by the way, it is supposed to return to UCLA next season. Red-shirted? I just would have been his freshman year this year but bowl bowl went up and played it at Oregon he missed all this season with an injury. But what I'm getting at? Here is Kobe Bryant has a daughter who's tearing up like the eleven year old or ten year old girls basketball, circuit and Kobe is one of the coaches for this travel team. So there was a video that surfaced this week of his his daughter just slicing and dicing, and I'm sure Kobe's enjoying the the bean bag. And I think he's getting ready to have another kid. I think I saw that his wife is getting ready to have another kid. But I love that statement from Kobe. I could play ball still if I want I just I just don't want to they've got the technology for it. They've got the feeling for it. I just don't want to do it. Somebody checks. You don't want to. Thank you Kobe. We'll get back to the NBA stuff in just a minute here. But I've was caught by during the break the two oh nine checked in on the text line. Instead die hard giants fan and raider hater. But I'm okay with the by the way, this was unprompted woke up and props you to nine feeling like I just got to get my thoughts out to the leadoff spot. I thing. Morning says I'm okay with the raiders in oracle for one season. Under two conditions is a two oh nine zero conditions. They've got to pay us an insane amount of money. And most importantly, they gotta take some harsh with the raiders can come to oracle part. They've got to pay a lot of money, and they've got to take Jephson Marsha they need a receiver. Anyway. So it's a win win is what he says, hey, not a bad play. There. The way some RJ didn't even knock somebody out. Now. One fight couldn't he played deandre are defined. The Marsha big dude man what we're getting at here is twofold at the there's just a March his name has come up in the last two days. Also as part of this Gica, we'll talk about this briefly here. The Jacoby ellsbury thing. I heard Krueger was the first one I heard yesterday sat down with it. But grant brisby of the now as the athletes for years of McCovey chronicles is joined the athletic covering the giants this year alongside Andy bag early. And he had a good article yesterday on the ethic about. What the giants would need to get from the raiders. And how basically the article starts out with and he's not wrong that the giants care lots about their image. And they've done a good job at keeping the same image and keeping this gold plated World Series type of image despite having to pretty bad seasons on the field. But he's talking about the way they keep their way. And I say this all the time they they're better at probably than any sport in North America or any team in North America, keeping their veterans and keeping their hall of famers and guys tied to the organization. They like the lifetime achievement thing, which I'm okay with as a fan. I said I've always felt lucky to grow up and see the hall of famers. The giants frequently around the team. That's pretty cool. You hate winning organization. Just distances itself from a player, even the fact that there's still a a little bonds marker out there in center field. The fact that he still comes back when winter comes back full circle, then we'll be we'll be all set in stone. And that's probably coming sooner than later. I'm guessing once he decides for sure that he's all done with baseball or baseball. Continues to decide that they're all done with 'em. Dave, I think they need to bring Willie McCovey statue across the cove and put it closer to the stadium too. I really do. I like it out there. I like that. I love that angle of the of the statue out there. I love that. You can see that statue from the third deck on the on the third base side. I liked that you you don't even have to be you can be inside the stadium and look out. And there's Willie sent standing over his cove also when they put the bonds went out there. They got to put the bonds when on the port walk, right? I mean right by the cove on this on the stadium site. So I'm okay with the McCovey went outward. I think it's it's larger than life. I think it's an awesome spot for it. They named the cove after a man and and don't forget Barry thanked him for letting them hit all those balls into the cove, berry made sure he got that that little prop in for himself. But as far as far as this potential there talking the giants could be looking to swap a big contract for Jacoby ellsbury contract from the from the Yankees, it would fill in outfield need, and the logic in this is that the name that keeps it floated up his less. Jeff's Marcia more Johnny Cueto now. Johnny Cueto on his contract still three years left. So let's get your this season next season and the twenty twenty one season. I think they have a buyout on twenty twenty two option. Thanks again. Bobby? We appreciate that. Johnny Cueto owed sixty eight million over the next three years, including a buyout on a twenty twenty two option chefs Marsha owed thirty six million over the next two years, and then the other two, but I know everybody's paying attention to Mark Milan-San checkmark owed twenty eight million over the next two. Evan longoria owed sixty one and a half over the remaining four years, including a buyout on twenty twenty three option. And that's excluding the portion at the Tampa Bay rays have to pay as well. And remember when Barry berry. Bond signed his contract. It was seven years forty three million. Yeah. That was record-breaking back in ninety two. So the the question is which contract would you swap to try to get you Kobe ellsbury here the reason the Johnny Cueto? When makes sense is the Yankees would be looking for starting pitching. Remember, they just traded sunny, gray added all these. I mean, they went and got James Paxton who they've got two years left now in his deal this year and next year, but the Yankees who've stacked their bullpen would probably be looking to add a guy like Johnny Cueto to give them rotation death beyond this season. And don't forget it. But you made it fairly obvious. But he had set it at some point is career. He would love to finish his career in the American League. The giants went a tough spot last year didn't have the benefit of of not remember last year. That was the whole thing is are they going to pick up Johnny cueto's option coming off a this was last offseason coming off a bad year. They didn't know if they want to buy out if they were going to bring it back bring them back, and then he has to go under the knife. And now you're on with the rest of his contract. So by picking up that option they've now latched themselves into the next three years of this deal. Now the swap for Jacoby ellsbury, if you're clean swapping contracts here, and again, it's forty eight million owed to Jacoby ellsbury sixty eight million owed to Johnny Cueto over the next couple of years next three seasons. If you're gonna have to pay that money, anyway, why not make that money work for you on your Oster? You've already lost the season of Johnny Cueto. So really, you're affectively paying sixty eight over two years. Johnny Cueto sixty eight over three really jumps up to about thirty million a year. If he does not throw this year. You expect him to throw some time in August. I saw an oppose from him the other day on Instagram saying his throwing has been going pretty, well, he's been doing some light stuff and he will be at camp, actually, he'll he'll be reporting to spring training, but do-does grinding and I've actually always liked Johnny Cueto. I know that your two seasons ago was not great last season before he went down. I thought he was pretty darn good. The big fear with this is that you Kobe Ellsberg coming off of an injury himself where he didn't play last year. Is that money really going to be working for you on your roster? Is it is it a good risk to take the other part of this is that if Johnny Cueto is making more money than than Jacoby ellsbury. You might be able to get another young piece out of the Yankees. Right. Everybody's saying move longoria form swapped the longoria contract. Jacoby ellsbury didn't play it. All anyway, just walked along Goria contract. I don't know that longoria is the piece the Yankees would would want. I'm also not sure that they even need that. They all they already went out. And they signed throw Tila whiskey. They signed DJ LeMay Mayhew. They still have Luke void. They still have Greg Berg. They still have the second baseman gleyber Torres. They still have Miguel on do heart. Now, you could think that if the giants are looking to move to Kobe or get Yacobi Ellsberg move. Johnny cueto. You might be able to attack on a lefty reliever. Tony Watson a Will Smith. And maybe get a guy like Miguel on do hardback, get yourself, some more depth within the organization or maybe a minor leager. I think it'd be a good move. Because the Yankees are definitely looking. They're searching for pitching, obviously. And you Tyson. You never know what you get right? And really the Yankees. That are gambling the Yankees are saying we're tied to this money. Anyway, why not take Johnny Cueto in a position spend that money in a position you need? And it could help both teams here. The other part would be maybe Yankees. Just wait until the giants start talking more seriously about moving Madison Bumgarner, and then they get involved in those talks. So if you really believe that that Bumgarner is gonna get moved. If you're the Yankees, maybe hold off. And you talk about doing that later. I mean again, you're already paying Jacoby ellsbury. It's the giants here who are in a much more desperate situation because the value now the value of Johnny Cueto won't diminish or rise. Unless he's got a setback with the Tommy John so stuff will continue to pay attention to the other thing about this with the the ballpark here down at oracle park..

Face a crisis, the sexual abuse of children by Roman Catholic, priests and other church officials, Pennsylvania attorney general Josh Shapiro announced that a grand jury concluded three hundred one priests have been of users for years while being protected by the church weaponization of faith investigations by other states in the department of Justice are underway. Condemn the atrocities of child sexual abuse. He described the heart wrenching pain of victims. And acknowledged that the church community did not act in a timely manner. The abuse scandal is sure to make much more news in the new year to poke called for top bishops to attend the summit at the Vatican in February and Sam Litzinger, CBS news. Let's talk more about the Catholic church is response to this and other stories around the Mediterranean with CBS news. Correspondent Seth Joan based in Rome. What challenges has pope Francis? Been facing reforming the Catholic church. Well, the reforms have really been overshadowed this year by this sex abuse scandal. There has been a real rift in the church. Of course, pope Francis is on the more liberal side of the equation. And you have conservatives who've been within the church at at the very highest levels. Cardinals in such you've been very frustrated with pope Francis for a number of years. So we've been looking at this rift this conservative. Liberal rift in the church, but it really came to a head this year when that archbishop Carlo Maria vegan, no issued that letter in August, which among a number of other things said that he had had a conversation with pope Francis had warned him back in two thousand thirteen about cardinal Theodore McCarrick in the alleged sex abuse issues that he had some dating back decades. This letter really rocked the church and put the six abuse scandal on the front pages. Seth another story that you followed closely that also touched on religion was the US decision to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, of course, many Israelis celebrated President Trump's decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Many Palestinians, however, were infuriated by it. Have we seen many other countries around the world follow suit we've seen a couple of other countries followed? Suit and we've heard of another country. Australia reportedly, pondering a move we saw right in that same month. This embassy move happened in may, and we saw Guatemala and Paraguay move their embassy. But then about three months later Paraguay moved its embassy back to Tel Aviv to the dismay of the Israelis. Don't want to talk to you. Seth about your reporting throughout Italy where the country's been dealing with some wild weather. Absolutely wild weather. We've seen a number of deaths across the country from Sicily in the south to the north. And those pictures in Venice were really quite stunning. You saw people sitting out at those those tables that they have usually where you're sitting in a wide open beautiful Saint Peter's Square, but they were submerged Venice, of course, has had an issue with flooding for years and major project underway to try to prevent some of that dramatic flooding happens. But the combination of tides and the moon and the weather here made that flooding in Venice absolutely atrocious historic for some number of years. And yes, we were seeing a bad really bad weather through a lot of the fall. And in the summer, of course, once again, we had those heat waves, and you had people pointing to the issue of climate change, creating is great fluctuation of of weather and extreme or wildfires in such we covered in Greece. But that heat certainly hit us here in Rome this summer Seth now, something a little lighter or. Stronger. However, you like it coffee with the arrival of Starbucks in Italy. What's the big deal the big deal? Well, Starbucks is now here in Italy. This of course, is were Howard Schultz. I had his idea for expanding. Starbucks best what it was selling beans and such into this idea of these cafes where people would sit and talk. But for all of those years there were none in Italy that changed in September. When this reserve roast reopened in a beautiful old building in the centre of Milan, I walked the streets here in eighty three. And to think I could come back here after all these years and opened up the roaster in Milan. And the response. People are banging on the door to get in. Some things are a little bit different. They don't have some of the more American things a Frappuccino, you don't find on the on the list, they did import American pricing. A small cappuccino is around five euros which in the in the coffee shop at the bottom of my house here, I can get a cappuccino for one euro twenty. So the question is would Italians really pay that much more for this Starbucks experience? Starbucks is now planning to open more small what you envision when you know of Starbucks. What we see in the US? He'll be opening more of those. They've already opened to Milan there are plans to open between ten and fifteen per year. Of course, this is news that has not been welcomed by the tens hundreds of thousands of a bar owners, these small coffee shops around Italy who many of them are a little concerned that Starbucks could chip into their business. Keeping us alert and wired to news across Italy in the Mediterranean. CBS news correspondent Seth tone in Rome, Italy, bone Metallica? Natalia on K Tae merry Christmas. Back home folks were glued to the dramatic trials of Bill. Cosby a man convicted of molesting gymnasts the farmer, bro, and others. Here's correspondent that paper. Demand known as America's dad became the first high-profile conviction of the metoo era, the DA who prosecuted him for sex assault declaring finally Bill Cosby has been unmasked.
