China Indicates Trade War Talks With The U.S. Are Improving
"President trump went on twitter yesterday to note a record high in the stock market. A new record the president wrote enjoy exclamation point the market rose after reports reports that the US and China had had agreed to rollback some tariffs between the two countries. Now an important thing to note is those reports came from China's Commerce Ministry. There has been no official announcement on this yet from US negotiators but White House. Press Secretary. Stephanie Grisham told Fox News that negotiations are moving in the right direction and I can not get ahead of talks with China but we are very very optimistic that we will reach a deal soon and and hopefully have some good news to report or that was White House Secretary White House press secretary. Stephanie Grisham we now have a different White House official trade advisor Peter Navarro on the line. Good Morning Mister. Naral thing our you today very well. Thanks thanks so China came out and said there is phase one of a deal we're going to agree to lift some tariffs on each other the US and China the US has not confirmed that yet. Can you confirm. Is there a deal as their phase. One deal I can confirm that. There is no agreement to remove any of the existing terror as a condition of signing interface. One deal and the only person who really can make that decision is President Donald. J trump If you don't hear it from Bowser sure Robert Lighthizer trade representative than It's not a real and if you don't hear from President trump that did come right out of the the administrative propaganda as it were. In China. was widely misreported. The products. Talk about that. If there's no deal to roll back tariffs wise China in a saying there. Is You referenced propaganda. What do you think is going on here? Well some companies joking me yesterday as the real negotiations which. I don't really start until you have a handshake shit. Deal is worth what we had October Basically they're they're trying to renegotiate or retrieve the October deal I don't fault all Kim for that's kind of what they do but the reality is What is on the table is there's terrorists coming in December December fifteenth We would would be willing. I think again. It's up to the president to postpone those terrorists realize but let's remember December fifteen th one but not roll back any existing terrorists. That's the fine distinction here but the terrorists are really necessary defense against China's economic aggression against the United States. They are also the only insurance policy. We have China will come to the negotiating table embark faith and if you give away any of the existing terrorists run the very real. Don't risk that you'll never get to phase two or three and I. I think your listeners need down or stand that there's there's seven things we're trying to get done and the phase one only gets about two of them done I WanNa ask you about the The possibility that the US would back off on the tariffs that are scheduled for December fifteenth. Now that's one hundred hundred sixty billion dollars of tariffs on Chinese products mostly on consumer electronics. You're saying maybe the US would would would not do that. Would not tariffs on those products. Why why is that? Well we have terrorists on Existing products The the additional channel terrorists That we would be put in place are would be a goodwill gesture to get us to phase two or three again the idea would be to To maybe wait a little while but I you know not my place here negotiate in public. which is what the Chinese were doing yesterday? I think what's important to the American people understand is is is that China is actively engage economic regression. They commit what I call the seven deadly sins It's force technology. Don't have time for all seven. I'm so sorry although I do throw the American people understand. We are getting hammered by China and I think they do they really broad support from American people on President you in trump's tough stand on China bipartisan support on Capitol Hill. That's it is. There is a wrinkle here. Though for the president we have had in this country. Three straight months of manufacturing contraction that is unusual we've had job losses in manufacturing in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. These are states that the president wants to win manufacturers openly. Blame the trade war. The president must have people telling him. It's time to move on this right. I would assume don't dispute all of what you're saying. They're basically what I'm saying is in the numbers just Yes hidden despite the evidence Obama abiding years they lost two hundred thousand manufacture just ask. You aren't the numbers we've added five hundred thousand in manufacturing jobs. The unemployment rate is the lowest sentenced Ben since man walked on the moon wages rising life. Life's good for America's better than than it was during the previous administration. I myself when you work. Every single day. Trying to create good manufacturing coaching jobs for the real mobility this country people who work for their hands president trump's doing a great job in that and I can take through the baronet Wisconsin Oshkosh. It was constantly Lima Ohio York Pennsylvania. Greenville South Carolina. I'll take you there. We go on a tour. I'll show you all the good manufacturing jobs Mr Navarro top losses. Your those are still occurring. Wait how straight advisor. Nabil thank you so much for taking the time we really appreciate it.
When Should Your Child Get Their Own Phone?
"Know in our initial call out we heard from almost two hundred families that were struggling with different issues relating to technology and we pulled out some of the most common. I think tough questions that we get Sir. You edited tackle. These yes sounds good okay so first. We're going to hear from Jill Kelsey. She is a mother in Greenville South Carolina and she she has an eleven year old boy and an eight year old girl as they get older. I my son who's eleven is about start middle school. He doesn't have a cell phone yet. Like when do I give them a cell phone. What kind of cell phone does he get when you're thinking about getting a child a phone for the first time three important things to think about the first says the circumstances so why do they need a phone or why. Do they want a phone. It could be safety reasons. If they're traveling or they live in multiple households or people pick them up could be for social reasons the other thing really though and this is a case by case child by child basis is really looking at their maturity you know what is their maturity level. How do they respond to something when it doesn't go as planned are the impulsive. ANA says it's more important to consider your individual child than to go just by age or grade also. She says you can start slow if you want and set strong rules especially at first when I think about the first phone I really think about this idea of incremental use use right at an a flip phone. I maybe the upgrading to a smartphone at some point when you think that maturity is a right place and the default is that you have at night and at certain different times parental control apps like apples screen time or cool but don't underestimate the hands on approach. I just think physically taking the phone on putting it in a locked box or having a family place where phones go at certain times just creates that structure that so many people need

"You have not flown lately. You may be in for a shock. How close you get to be to your neighbors on the plane? I got some interesting info for you in today's Clark -rageous moment and coming up later. There's a piece of office equipment that people coming to work for you don't know how to use. And it will surprise you. What that is. And whether you should still have it at your place of work. Speaking of work. I wanna talk about something that is a real serious problem in the US. And that is that a lot of people who go and get a college degree or able to find work much more easily than people who don't have a college degree on average vac through the last ten years the unemployment rate among people with a college degree versus people without one. It was night and day. But a huge percent of people with college degrees. Are what a communist referred to is underemployed that what you're doing for work. Has nothing to do with having gone to college. The you could have done the same work. You're doing coming straight out of high school. And then so many people who don't go off to college have trouble finding work. Employers and many jobs say, oh, well, we only hire college graduates. So what's broken in the US is we're treating education as I heard one calmest referred to it as a credential. Instead of treating education as training for specific, skills and specific jobs. I've had such a fascination with how South Carolina influence so heavily by large numbers of German companies that have located around the Greenville, South Carolina area. It's the interstate eighty five is often referred to as the autobahn, and that part of South Carolina because there are so many German employers, and they have brought a change to the education culture in the state of South Carolina that technical colleges state supported provide training in things that employers specifically say they need. Now that should not be a shocking concept train people and what the work that's available calls for. And the idea in Germany is people do apprentice ships, and they do trade school. So that they get the skills for the specific high skill job that they're going for. And we were talking about this and one of our show meetings. How the junior and senior year of high school in so much of America has become a time for too much idle time and a lot of teens getting trouble during that time because it seems to have particularly senior year has a lot of treading water. So I told you about something kosh must be two years ago. Now, that's a program that IBM was the inspirational force behind that people do in their junior and senior year. Also, an associate's degree program. Typically at a trade school or a community college where they learn a specific skill when they graduate from high school. They have not only the high school education. But they also have a specific marketable skill that the marketplace is looking for. I think we really need to think in this country how we can improve the lot of people in their lives. And this is one of the areas where we can really make a difference the greatest difference Ecorse flows to people who are not. Of a mind that college is what they want to be a lot of people feel pressure to go to college. They go to college. They drop out an end up was student loans. The don't drop out when they drop out..

"All right. Anything else to say about this? Nope. All right. Sadly, not too far from use staff in Greenville, South Carolina, just a few days ago. A an airplane was, was it or they landing? They were planning. Okay. At Greenville downtown staff, and I have both flown general aviation into that airport. That's where I went with. Well, actually I've been there a couple of times in with Stephen Ivy and his Moonie and dispatcher. Mike in the musketeer. We also stopped at the Greenville downtown airport, and then Stephan. I ate an expensive hamburger there once or twice pilot and co-pilot were killed Thursday afternoon, a small jet broken half after it went off a runway through a fence and into a road at the Greenville downtown airport. And I think kind of down in the Bank min as well at the end of the runway there before it gets to the road. Yeah, that's probably what did him in just that steep angle and then hitting the flattened area, the end of the embankment. Let's see. The ad occurred about one forty pm. The plane went off the runway and we just talked about that to passengers were on board the passengers and will our two pilots and two passengers. I guess both pilots. Ended up dying one immediately and then one later at the hospital, I believe both passengers though are still alive as far as I know. Yeah. Yeah. The shows pictures here in this news article from w y, f f, four, probably the local affiliate. NBC affiliate. Interesting said that when the got to the scene that the rescue workers had to get the one of the pilots who was unconscious, lying on top of the throttles. And I guess the jet engine was still running and they had to get this guy off the throttles to to try to shut down the the running engine. I don't if it was more than one injured or not. And I think at the end they couldn't get the engine shutdown for some reason, right. Then I read that somewhere. It was a falcon fifty. I don't think it ran for quite some time, but I guess it was a lot of fuel going into the the stream nearby and it was a, it was a mess. And it's not a long, three PM they were still trying to shut it now that I know what time it crashed. Yeah. Well, one Forty-five believe something like that. So or later the engine still running, so which I'm sure hampered their efforts to rescue the the passengers as well. So tell us staff that from why is how long. The runway is just over five thousand feet long. If I remember correctly like fifty five hundred feet or so. So it's not terribly long, but jets at small. Yeah, all the time don't. They absolutely should it well within the performance parameters of the jet to land on that runway. So we really don't have any information yet as as to what you know what led to this accident, something intended to or designed to slow the airplane down wasn't working or whatever. I'm not other reports. It sounds like everything appeared normal until they really didn't stop at the end of the runway. Well, that sad. I'm sure they'll be more information. It's fairly local for me..

"The us capital shortly after the last june walkout in march congress did pass to gun measures they were to shore up the current background check system and also get more funding to states but neither of those change current law and there is no expectation that congress will return to the gun issue anytime this year president trump has said the mental health system needs improvement and he supported the idea of letting teachers carry guns at schools this would only be obviously for people that are very adept at handling a gun you would no longer have a gun free zone gun free zone to a maniac because they're all cowards a gun free zone is let's go in and let's attack because bullets aren't coming back at us the president also formed a school safety commission led by education secretary betsy devos but students at the us capitol today demanded more concrete action to address their generations fears want people to have that sense of comfort again and be able to walk around the street and not have to put your hands up all the time because he's a cop enough violence enough a killing enough being scared this as today in marion county florida another school shooting left one student wounded for the pbs newshour i'm lisa desjardins and one postscript elisa's report students at columbine did not walk out today since classes are never held on the anniversary of the shooting but they are encouraged to participate in a day of service and let's finish our look at this day with the story of a student who survived columbine nineteen years ago the news hour student reporting lab at legacy early college high school in greenville south carolina interviewed physical education teacher lindsay o'donnell she described how she came to see mental health and mindfulness as the keys to healing my name is lindsay donal i'm a physical education teacher at legacy early college in greenville south carolina i was seventeen years old during the columbine shooting it was my senior year of high school my initial reaction was i thought it was a fire drill someone might have pulled it i thought it might have been a senior prank we really didn't know i school shooting and littleton colorado a denver suburb at least twenty people were wounded it was just chaos people running just crying hysterical it was shocking.
