Is Shohei Ohtani 'The New Babe Ruth' or Something Entirely New?

"Here is passing. Never seen a player like shohei ohtani babe. Ruth was playing against pitchers who were thrown eighty-five miles an hour. Shohei otani is doing this. Against an average fastball of ninety three point five miles per hour average breaking ball. That's unlike anything babe ruth ever saw on top of that he is facing hitters on the pitching mound who were better than they have ever been also and the fact that he has a two point seven nine. Era now in one hundred things which the third best in the american league while at the same time leading all of baseball with forty home runs. It sounds ridiculous because is ridiculous. We have not seen anyone like this in history and the only thing that i hope for greenie is that shohei ohtani can stay healthy because that is all. That's keeping him from being brilliant year after year after year so greatest individual major league baseball season of any player. certainly in our lifetimes. right. I think so. I mean 'cause pitching is a completely different skill than hitting. This isn't i mean to me. It's almost akin to bo jackson playing two different sports. Yes dion sanders like it's. It's almost two different sports to be that good as a pitcher and that goes here.

"Proud of that will have some positive effect on the world You know the library here. my eight year old son and i the first tuesday of every month. He wasn't with me today to do it. But we've gone and we do. These live videos now with our local library and we do either a craft or a science project experiment. It's easy enough for any child to do and we try to use things that are at home that you know you don't necessarily have to go out and buy but you could get them easily if you need. They're easy for all children to do Because children u. We learned from nine different avenues in our life and we we For child all that tactile stuff in all feeling in the sensory in that visuals in everything helped him learn if they can't learn one way they can actually absolutely learn a different way. Just kind of put all that together. But you know things like that. Are i think we need more of things like that for kids but having my son there it shows other children. What he's doing okay. I could do that to you. Know or i want to do that as well. And so We've been through a mini. He's been in the he's been in. Ot speech therapy since he was eighteen months old and he's eight and he still going strong in those in that world And i come in therapist Because they really can make such a great difference in a child's life but you know my grandmother she would. She was a religious woman. She would take my mother and put her in the car. In on sunday she would drive into the poor areas of where she lived and she would go into different homes and the men who were drunk she would go in there and she would make a pot of coffee and feed them breakfast and drag him to church. She was a kicker little tiny. Greenie was so. I just love that about her and my mom grew up. She would stay in the car. Because this would have been in the nineteen forties and.

"Earlier on Greenie, You know, it's pretty crazy for sure. I never been a part of that. You know where every single player on your team comes back. It Z pretty incredible. And I'm super pumped about it because You know, just going through training camp in the whole year last year, it was a great time, man. We all stuck together throughout the whole year. Even during the you know, the tougher times we stuck together and through the great times, and that's what made this team so special. So I'm pumped to have everyone back. I'm pumped to be a part of it on. It just says a lot. You know how we all want to stick together, And it shows that you know, just overall, you know, every position. They're just great leadership all over the place. You know, from the top of the organization to the bottom that Everyone just wants to stick together and just keep working hard because we work hard here. We work really hard. Glad the same time. You know, we love to do it and have fun with it to Gronkowski looking to roll it back. This coming season. And what about adding even more players, Julian Elements often retirement Or is he? I believe, you know if Julian truly heals up, and, uh you know, whatever. Certainly on him, Uh, you know any any fully heals and feels good? I think he'll be back. I don't see why he wanted me back. But in the future, maybe a year or two away, Let me tell you just a competitive s So if I say if he heals up 100% Feels good. I think he'll be back in the NFL, but I don't know what team I don't know where, but I think he's gonna at least take this year off. He's got a lot going on. And then he'll be back. I think if if, like I said if he heals up 100% Rod comparing with Mike Greenberg earlier on Greenie weekdays, 10 O'clock Eastern, following Cage's here on ESPN radio Right now,.

Jimmy Garoppolo Is Reportedly ‘Plan A’ For Patriots At Quarterback

"So much has been made about the potential of a reunion between jimmy g. and bill be in new england. The forty nine. A quarterback is under contract for two more seasons but new england needs a quarterback and they may look to trade for garappolo that is according to a very interesting piece. That are mike. Reese put together over the weekend who covers the patriots for so well and he gets up with us earlier today. Mike for those who did not read. It gives us a sense of your thinking on the possibilities. Here of jimmy g. Coming back to foxborough so good morning green. I would say as a reporter covering the team there so much secrecy around the patriots quarterback plans so i was asking myself the question. What do i know for fact and for fact. What i know is that the patriots bill. Belichick he holds jimmy garoppolo in such high regard. And it's one thing for me to say it. But i could actually show it to you. I mean there was a picture after the forty niners handed the patriots their worst home loss in two decades under bill belichick. We're bill belichick. Steve on the field to talk with jimmy garoppolo and josh mcdaniels. The offensive coordinator was standing nearby for his. Turn to talk to jimmy garoppolo. So the point. Is this screening. If the patriots believe jimmy garoppolo is their plan a and the big gap to plan b. Now is the time for them to at least test. The forty niners commitment to jimmy g. and so then. That begets the obvious next question which is if they do decide to your point that that's what they wanna do. How do they get it done. Well got to give credit to michael lombardi. The longtime nfl front office man who was here with the patriots when the patriots drafted garoppolo in two thousand and fourteen on his podcast. The gm shuffle. He said how about sam darnold going from the jets to the forty niners who in turn with then trade jimmy garoppolo in a situation controlled by garoppolo. 'cause he has a no trade clause and you saw the respect. There was mutual between the patriots and garoppolo. Well you'd think jimmy might like the idea of a homecoming in that scenario greenie. That could work for everyone. The forty niners would pick up a lot of cap space in that exchange. The patriots would get their quarterback through they respect so much in the jets. Your jets would probably take a quarterback at number two which might be their preference anyway.

"greenie" Discussed on Ron Paul Liberty Report

"Hello everybody and thank you for tuning into liberty report with us today as chris. Rosanna our co host chris. Welcome to the program. It is great to be with you. Dr paul very good wanna talk about something. That's been in the news. Unfortunately for us in texas. We're in the news. Because we are the capital. The energy industry we probably produce more energy than any other state and here. We are in big trouble and already the blame game. You know some groups says you know it's the greenies. They caused the whole thing if we didn't have them pestering us This this wouldn't have happened and others will say that No no it's those greedy making too much money. And they they they wouldn't follow the rules and this this sort of thing. So it's an argument who's to blame. Which politician is the blame and You know the governor's get some blame. But but also the throwing some blame iran on on the regulars and that's getting pretty close to the matter and there's this group called the ot the electric reliability council of tax. Well now. they're they're the ones who run the show right all the regulation well. It looks like they weren't very reliable but you know an interesting piece of information came out on this subject of who's responsible and this i find fascinating because this whole program. We talk about lockdown and all the problems of locked on civil liberties and viruses and vaccines and all that but believe it or not. This subject we're talking about is very closely related to the lockdown and nbc groups. Put an article out and they did some research and wrote and wrote about this and they found out that You know each year. They're supposed to go through an inspection so that the wind meals and all are in good shape and and and prepared for the winner and this year. They didn't do it and the reason they didn't do. It was because of covid although restrictions and the lockdown at all and they did only sixteen percent of the windmills. were checked and that was that was remotely. They didn't even go and lookout so they were. They were essentially abandoned and of course added fuel to the..

Who is QB2 in 2021 NFL Draft?

"It would have been fully justified and with that we welcome you back as always live from the seaport district appear seventeen brought to you by chase. I green this get up and we have a huge our coming your wine. It starts with this. It's a quarterback sneak mc shays make board is in and wait till you see the first four picks. He's with us live to break down off the top. Then wait a minute. What did russell say. Is he talking about getting sri. Didn't from seattle the wild ride in. Nfl history continues. And then we'll tell you how the shawn watson saga plays out and what it will mean for every team in the nfl. All that and more as we get out with you when this hour which starts right now with todd mcshay post super bowl mock draft. It's available right now on espn plus all it. It's fascinating a number one. That's no big surprise. He's got trevor lawrence going number one to urban meyer and the jaguars. But here's where it gets interesting. He also has quarterbacks going to three and four at two he has the jets taking. Byu's zack wilson who has been rising up. Everybody's draft what he has been be talk of the nfl draft process so far at three overall. He's projecting trade the panthers moving up from eight to take north dakota state's train lance to be their quarterback of the future which leaves ohio states justin field sitting there. Four and mcshea has the falcons taking him fields the second highest total qbr in college football season and then jones sliding down a little bit later to make five quarterbacks in the first round in there he is the man with the mic board. It is mcshea and it's awesome. Let's start with this todd. We all understand. Trevor lawrence going number one. Nothing even to discuss. How firmly planted in. Your mind is zack. Wilson right now as the number two quarterback in this draft. I think very firmly. The first thing i do when the season is over and a govan studied the top quarterbacks. Because i know that's what we're going to talk about for the majority of this process leading up to the draft and after lawrence. There's a little bit of a gap and then at zack wilson. And then there's a gap between gods trey lance from north dakota state and justin feels from ohio state. So i think he is clearly the number two quarterback in this class. The question becomes greenie. Is that the jets taking two or the jets gonna move out and allow a team like a carolina to that number two spot to take him. And that all depends on the domino's in terms of the veteran quarterbacks right now where does shawn watson wind up carson wentz. We know is going to get moved to chicago indianapolis. I think joe douglas. The general manager is kind of waiting. And seeing some of these other quarterbacks go and he's fielding phone calls he's not aggressively making calls but fielding calls to see maybe if they can move sam darnold and if they do exactly since the pick for the jets at number two and if not as i said i think the jets will move outta to and wilson will still wind up being that number number two overall pick in this class. I grew the. I've been saying for a while. I agree with you completely. He'll be number two. The question is who winds up making the peck. Then the other part of this is. I'm old enough to remember a time when we wondered if justin fields might supplant trevor lawrence as the number one draft now all of a sudden these the fourth quarterback off the board. How did that happen. You go back. And study games against indiana northwestern. And then the college football playoff national championship game against alabama. He completed around fifty two percent of throws with five interceptions. Those games in my opinion. You look at it physically. He's big. he's sturdy strong who mobile. He's got a big arm all the traits that you look for. But he likes to see his receivers. Come open and get stuck on that. I read very frequently. So you compare him with trae. Lance and i have identical grades on the to train. Lance didn't play the level of competition. Didn't play as many games as is justin fields but i think he processes the game a little quicker in terms of going from his first into a second and third and seeing the entire field. So it won't surprise me if it feels is third quarterback off the board. But i think they're kind of bunched together in that third tier of quarterbacks behind lawrence wilson and then the other two and then i want to ask you about the guy that you currently have fifth because i'm a regular listener of the first draft podcast and so i'm listening the other day to you and field. Yates and mel kiper talking about what was going on at the senior bowl and everyone is raving about matt jones. Your buddy mel had max jones moving this thing and i believe he has him sort of. I believe he hasn't projected higher than you have in projected. What do you see for mack. Jones as this process goes on the fifth quarterback in the first round. Well i think what's going to happen. He's matt jones is going to benefit from the fact that these four quarterbacks are gonna come off the board quickly and it's probably going to be cut because of trades moving up. I have matt jones going number twelve overall right now in a i had chicago moving up to twelve in san francisco. Moving back to twenty we have to see where carson wentz go. It does go to

Carson Wentz would prefer to leave Philadelphia Eagles, but team is not looking to trade him, per report

"This is the saga that we've been covering forever right carson. Wentz coming off terrible year. You know that he got benched. You'll see all the numbers and it was just awful but when they made the choice to fire the coach and bring in frank. Reich's assistant nick serianni. We figured well at the end of that is coming back in philly. Adam schefter yesterday said maybe not so fast wants. Leave the franchise. That's why the trade still employ. This is a real and this was made up and just because he would like to be moved doesn't mean he will be if i had to guess i would guess he is traded. That'd be my guess. Okay at some point this off season but again. they're not just going to train them just. They're not looking to get rid of him. They're not shefty. I shefty speech. The world listens and dan. Orlovsky we've not had you on this yet today. What is your reaction to this idea that it seems at least from the outside like the eagles have probably done just about everything he might have wanted and he still wants out agree with them. Schefter i think carson wentz wants away from philadelphia for a long time. People thought well he wants away. From doug peterson i think he wants to wait from the city. I think he wants away. From the organization. Greenie do speak so loudly. I need not hear what you say. And we live in a time frame and society where it's the easiest time ever to make some form of statement and carson had two opportunities to do that his first head coach in the. Nfl was fired. He had the opportunity to post something on twitter. Post something on instagram. Saying you're my. I said coach ever in the nfl while it didn't work out the way we wanted to for the long run. I'm forever thankful for our time together. Well then we move on and they hire a head coach. Nick serianni another opportunity to make some form of statement some form of. I'm looking forward to the future. New new beginnings fresh start excited to work with you and nothing for those two reasons. I'm sitting back and going carson. Wentz doesn't want to be in philadelphia. Maybe it wasn't as tight to doug peterson and it is tied to the organization and what has transpired over the past couple of weeks past couple of months. I can tell you this. I had a coach call me last week and spend twenty minutes on the phone with me asking about what my thoughts were with carson. Wentz the good and the bad why. It went south this past season because they've got a high level of interest in them and i think two teams. That should be calling our indy in chicago. Both of them have a win. Now defenses and both of them have some form of a tie in the past with carson wentz being frank reich and indian john d. filipo in chicago so i agree with this Shefty i think it's more likely. He gets traded than not.

Warriors' Klay Thompson Reportedly Suffers Season-Ending Torn Achilles Injury

"Back here on this developing story. The news from the nba yesterday was not good hours before the draft klay thompson injuring his right leg during a workout with several nba in ally. He will undergo an mri this morning. The warriors are worried that it could be chilies injury holding out hope. It's not as serious as that. But if you're reading the tea leaves on social media all the reaction that seemed to be coming in. Yesterday it sounded very pessimistic. And so here's the great jalen rose with me here. I see the look on your face. What is your reaction. What what would this mean if this is a bad injury. I'm just really disappointed for clay in. this family. Hopefully is not a torn achilles. Which is being reported. I just remember seeing kevin durant with ice on his calf but ended up having an achilles injury. And it's really unfortunate. Because with the splash brothers healthy with draymond green. And you draft wise men the golden state warriors. We're going to catapult themselves back into contention greenie now without klay thompson. They'll be lower-half playoff team potentially in the western conference and now that he's had achilles injury is potentially in back to back seasons. We now start looking at the future of their team. Wondering ken bay now recapture championship glory. So it was really unfortunate for the golden state warriors and their fans if particularly going into the draft last night. No question about it so all. We'll do we'll sit and we'll hope for better news than some are anticipating and we should have that in a few hours

"Be concerned. I play all those things combined. This far as i know he's playing basketball and I don't know who with i think is playing basketball pie. Like a lot of these guys are trying to get ready for ready for the season. Clay of course missed all of last year after the aclu injury. He suffered in the finals that year. Before here are tim. Legler and adrian watson hausky getting up with us earlier today guys. Thanks whoa do. What can you tell us. What do we know about this injury. Greenie lower lower right leg. There's certainly a significant amount of concern among the warriors talked to his agent greg lawrence last night. And they're going to have that imaging this morning a west coast time you'll see some of the warrior personnel front office medical staff coming down to be there his agent there and they're going to get a better sense of the severity of the injury. The torn acl injury was on his left is left knee that causing the last season. This is a right leg injury so it's not the same leg that's not necessarily any indication of how severe it may or may not be but just to sort of by for those award following it last night. The vibe i was clearly getting from you and others covering the story. Was that the level of concern that this is. Something very serious is significant. We don't wanna read too much into it. But am i getting that part of it right. Yeah there's there's a significant level of concern but it could be could it be At best strength half at worst is it in the achilles area and so that's why they'll get in there today they'll do the imaging and they'll find out for sure right so tim lego. Let's let's sort of look at this from a bigger picture basketball perspective if klay to missed significant time here this is a long term injury and again we can all hope that it isn't but what would that mean for the warriors championship window. Well my direct answer to that question would be. I think it's still open greenie. I think. Look i'm less concerned about klay thompson potentially missing another years in terms of just guys getting a little bit older steph and draymond both in their early thirties. I'm not as concerned about that. More concerned about what is going to be like coming back from now. Potentially another dreaded basketball injury. That's what you're concerned about and now on each leg so let's see what klay thompson looks like. You know a year from now. That's how john again. We're still waiting to hear the results of that. I still think the windows opening the main reason because we look around the nba. There is only one team right now. That definitively you can say it. Looks like they're put together to win the title. And that's the lakers about virtually every other team in the nba. So this means the warriors getting back together is delayed a little bit longer so be it. I

Vrabel's latest test leading Titans through virus outbreak

"All right to the big story from the National Football League is they are still trying to figure out if an exactly win the steelers and titans will be able to play this weekend the League postponing Sunday's game after four titans players have tested positive for covert here's titans coach Mike rebel. No there's going to be a lot of questions about the game about who's to blame where it started. Nobody's to blame. We're in a pandemic unfortunately things happen John and I feel comfortable that since receiving the protocols in August, we follow those letter that we were conscious of everything that we did this is a very unfortunate situation but one that were confident that we will be able to handle safely with with football team the players. Best interest in. mind. All this testing continue. This literally is a story that develops minute by minute Adam schefter watch the very latest. The latest. I'm starting to get buzzed this morning Greenie that Monday night be off the table that it would look like a Tuesday game. If not a postponement Tuesday would be in play. If Monday night doesn't happen I want to emphasize that there is nothing final nothing sided I spoke to one league official who said, they don't know what they're doing get and both teams are awaiting were but I did text this morning. That said quote unquote hearing Monday off the table. Now again, that is not confirmed that is not validated, but it seems to be the chatter, an emphasized chatter and speculation of this morning that Monday night may not happen there may not be a Monday night doubleheader and the key question then would be if the game is or is in on Tuesday between the titans and the steelers that becomes the question here what to follow. So we'll see how this plays out this morning. We'll bring you the very

Belichick reaches milestone as Patriots top Raiders 36-20

"Everyone is time for the bonus episode postgame recap for Vegas Nation podcast. I'm your host Heidi Fang and I'm joined with our readers writers, Ed Greenie, Adam. Hill we're going to break down what happened here in the Raiders Lost Thirty six to twenty against the New England Patriots here Gillette Stadium in Foxborough at an ir up in the press box Adam back in Vegas a from my vantage point it was. A lot of mistakes made by the raiders, which is something you can't do against the bill belichick coach team. So we're GONNA get all into that here but I I want to remind everybody that we are brought to you by Salmon Ash, indeed visa and also favor. So make sure to subscribe wherever you're listening and what was your first take on what you saw out in the field today with the raiders. You're right. They did everything you can't do and win on the road or anywhere turn the ball over three times. Once rent on. Didn't protect car when they were driving. Me fumbled the Fumble Alina Game Matter Games already overby fumbled the end zone. In the second half, they just wore down defensively I actually done the first thirty minutes be interested at him. I think thought the first thirty minutes they played. As good. A defense as they haven't a while let's be honest. Thirteen points here cam help them a lot. He wasn't any third, but they were down on the second Apple Sikhism Derek. Carr in the offense couldn't stand field. He gave up two hundred and fifty yards total rushing late Sony Michelle when expert in its players per talking, you know these of League so they were down and they just couldn't match. Match up. So a bad game they printed everything you can do and what on the road so Adam how much in fact that these running bags like just through the defense offered their game because I don't think they were looking to contain the likes of three different running backs in this one I think they prepared to contain Cam Newton? What was your thoughts on the running game? I think I was definitely a part of it and I think there was definitely adjustments made. By the Patriots coaching staff because as as ED put out for the first half of the, Patriots were able to run the ball somewhat. But I thought a it wasn't. There wasn't those explosive plays. There wasn't those big plays downfield and it was a kind of picking up some yards here. They're moving the ball effectively but not really gashing the raiders defense and then. They figured out something in the run game after halftime and I'll be interested to find out the later in the week. Interested to get the the all twenty two film comes out like Tuesday. Look a little what happened but I think just at first glance without really looking into what they were doing on the line maybe differently. They definitely started to go to some more cutback plays where they I thought really were able to take advantage of some over pursuit of the writer side in particular from Jonathan Abram, who you know, we know what he can do. In terms just flying around offensively and having people would kind of sending a message for that defense but at the same time. You can use that aggression against him and I think the Patriots kind of figure that out a little bit and it really hit him with a big plays on a place where he got into the gap, he was near the bulk area but just couldn't make up Adams exactly right and and they're going to have to here's the thing about a player John Neighbor might think they love is aggressiveness in his hitting all that he's got a swagger Jim and I. Hate to say this, but sometimes, you just have to you have to balance that it's hard to tell a guy like that. Don't play this way but Adams wait we should for resod against Christian McCaffrey, over pursues too much when you take the battling new pursue Sunny Michelle Christian McCaffrey, they're gonNA come back will go so Yeah. They just didn't play the run wellness second atoms right they adjusted and you have to give Michelle credit like I said when you go For, an average of thirteen yards of Kerry and I don't know if he's ever average per carry more than seven in a games and you also have saved in job I am. But they did they didn't play offensively were out of rhythm Waller. We'll talk about that I know atoms writing thoughts. Darren WELLM was non factor when you get a lot of good at the bill Belgium at he talked about. How good daring waller as well. Guess what he must have died because they ran every defense coverage double team run in stem and stopped him. So atom I know you you wrote about this mean, what did you hear the game to her? How they? You know bottle up there wall I thought it was a group effort I. think that's what of expected to hear from the Patriots Bill. Belichick obviously didn't go into detail about what he did. I think it was just a lot of deception what they were doing offensively disguising it and Bella check pointed out. Hey, it wasn't somebody covering him necessarily a lot of zone. We played a lot of you know bracket coverage a lot of. Men under there was a lot of different things. Defensively. On Waller but I think it was more just about the looks of they're giving up the line and never letting the raiders. No. Before the play what kind of coverage is GonNa be on Waller? Want Credit Anybody I. Think mccourty would be the one that you would like added. Say. Devin mccourty that Dinnie. Tremendous job on him but it was a little bit of everybody kind of in the mixer.

Big Ten football to resume weekend of Oct. 24

"We have major breaking news into our newsroom, and this is what we have been waiting for all morning long involved that man and that man and this conference do we have heather standing by guys lipset her break the news because it's her story let's bring heather and Paul into it. Go ahead heather the floor is yours. What is the news this morning? Komo morning sources have confirmed that the big ten is expected to announce this morning that football is back. The date is still in the air. I'm not sure if it's going to be October seventeenth or October twenty fourth but greedy I can't confirm the big ten football is coming back. Big. Ten football coming back in October for those who are just joining us had their catch everyone up on how we got here on August eleven. They announced that they will not play and they were talking about a spring season. Here we are about a month later how did we get from there to here? while. There is certainly political and public pressure but the president's the fourteen presidents and Chancellors said they would not be swayed by that the bigger topic I. Think we will hear a lot about today is going to be the changes in the medical information remember Michigan Michigan State you're talking about an epidemiologist and in infectious disease expert, right? So the medical information had to. Be buttoned up and change in order for this decision to be made I know that over the weekend they were presented with at least four new antigen tests for daily rapid testing results and also helping them with the contact tracing I. Think the question is and also going back to that date October seventeenth or twenty four. How quickly can they actually procure those tests it? Took the PAC twelve a while to get them on each campus so that could be part of the equation. There are still a lot of questions answered but Greenie to me that is is the number one is the differences in the medical information helps sway the president's the number. One question that most fans will have is, can they get a representative season in in time? To compete with the SEC and the big twelve and the ACC and try to get into the College Football playoff I literally just pulled out my calendar. If they start on October seventeenth, it's ten weeks until the College Football playoff selection special, which is set for December twenty. What is the plan as far as you know it about what they will do for a season? Well haven't confirmed the exact plan to be honest but sources have said that they would like an eight game season eight or nine game season with a conference championship game being on December nineteenth as you said to sneak it in. December twentieth selection, day, and I can tell you that if the big ten is going to be allowed back in the College Football playoff all ten s BS commissioners and Notre Dame Athletic Director Jacks Warwick would make that decision. My Gut says, yes of course they would let them in. But at the same time, you have to remember that not everybody's playing right and it's a shorter season for them to continue. So maybe it's a little bit of discussion difficult conversation but I do think at the end those commissioners will let them participate in the College Football playoff. The question is, can Ohio State Win it?

Why Tom Seaver Is The Greatest Met Ever

"People perhaps too young to have seen it and to have lived through it. How would you put into words what Tom Seaver meant to baseball and particularly in New York in the late sixties and the seventies? Well. He's the greatest met ever and there is not a close second. He's for me one of the ten greatest pitchers of all time when you look at his wins, his era and his strikeouts, the only pitcher in history that can match those numbers is Walter Johnson whose regularly considered the greatest. Of all time top seaver struck out ten batters in a row that is still a major league record and they were the last ten hitters of the game showing how strong he was at the end Greenie I was twelve years old when he pitched the mets to the world championship in nineteen, sixty nine it was absolutely breathtaking to watch a pitcher who threw that hard with that kind of precision and the way he threw that back news to drag against the ground. He was so big and he was so strong. He was Tom Terrific in every way he was he was like a superhero in my youth. I grew up in New York and I wasn't met Fan, but you couldn't not not only admire him but you're almost all of him. He became almost mythical figure you can. We talk about that a little bit not not just how great pitcher he was the numbers tell you that story but just what he meant in an even larger sense than that, how would you put that into words? Well he was so much a celebrity in New York because he was so smart he was. So worldly, he did the New York Times Crossword puzzle every day and apparently nobody did it better than he did and he never took himself too seriously Dick Schaap told this great story one night that Dick arranged a party out with a bunch of people, a bunch of writers and a bunch of celebrities. And among the celebrities were Muhammad, Ali and Tom Seaver and through the night went along alley. Brilliant Mad. But not a great baseball fan whispered to Tom seaver which newspaper do you work for Anti seaver like burst out in laughter that's how great he was at understanding his place and everything he said that what he retired, he wanted to become an artist, but he wasn't good enough to be an artist. But boy was he a great great baseball player who captured a town at the perfect

New Saliva-Based COVID-19 Test Could Be a Fast and Cheap 'Game Changer'

"A potential breakthrough in the battle against covid nineteen, the FDA, just granting emergency approval, for Corona, virus saliva test calling it testing innovation game changer this test which is simpler cheaper and less invasive than naval swabs was developed by Yale University researchers. It's been used by the NBA and could greatly help expand testing capacity joining us right now is an Wiley. She is associate research scientist with Yale School of Public Health, which helped develop this new tests and it's great to see you. Thank you for being with us this morning. And Hugh morning. So this is incredibly exciting the idea that you could do the saliva test that it could be cheap and readily available How does it work? Actually, quite simple really. It's as the name suggests that we you've seen saliva as the sample time. And what we're trying to do is get away from that swamp. That's that can you know there's been quite a bit of the vision to the swamp time and we're hoping to get around supply chain issues that we've been saying with the swamps and we also Greenie. Fancy. Collection Devices to help ourselves down and so was actually also quite a make about it unique about is that we haven't actually developed a taste that we just packed up out to you. So you next one of these tests but what we've? What we've developed is the mythic full the taste recipe you could say and we're able to she had this taste with other labs for them to get this method often running in their labs. As. Tasted south with actually adapted the white commonly used piece the artist which takes the virus are a but we've done is removed the most expensive stiff of that replacing with a more simple workup, which again house is down at work though I mean if it still requires a lab to put together, you deliver it to me and then what I drive to the lab, and then how long does it take for me to get my results back? So indeed much psych you know what you're doing at the moment with a swap. So the swap is being ordered for your doctoral with A. Is million schools where you have like a little booth, we your saliva sample and had that taken to the lab and so taking out that was time consuming our in that results Ruby available Asta. You know this isn't one of those that will teach broken about you know we can get. Results, sorted through in about three hours about ninety two samples. But of course, depending on the through the lab is experiencing. You know this isn't to say that results will be available in three hours but just that it's a slightly faster protocol means that labs pamphlets room autistic day. So we do that. We can't see many in some situations. Same Day results if what we're really striving for us to get below that twenty, our timeframe that we're just not seeing. At the moment how much does this test cost I? Believe I've read that that nobody is looking to really make any money on this they're trying to put this out there and make sure it's available at the lowest cost. Possible. That's exactly right. So and we're being very very open about let's should be ambushed at expecting the regions cost and how much the people can speak in the. Cost and that's because the reagents of the chemicals that make up the test opinion that companies getting them from the only cost somewhere between one and four dollars for the reagents. That's just the reagents attest. We do know that there is a markups said, GonNa go onto this such as you know to. The logistics of giving the taste of personnel to run the also just you know they need to pay for the facilities that. Do those tests but. Is that that was still trying to limit that labs charge. Miami Marlins CEO Derek Jeter: COVID-19 Outbreak Happened Because Players ‘Let Their Guard Down’

"The cardinals of the latest team to suffer a corona virus outbreak resulting in their four game series in Detroit being postponed the I. of course, was the Marlins. Here's Derek jeeter their man in charge describing how his players behaved before all this happened. Oil. Down to on this particular trip was. Guys were around each other got relaxed in. Let Their guard down. There were getting together in groups. They weren't wear masks as as they should have been warned social distancing of the entire traveling party is responsible for not following. The Protocols has instructed that that includes staffs, players. Everyone is seen seen the impact. They've seen their teammates, you'd sick. As I bring the Jeff Passan and Jessica does in Jeeter did go on to say, I think this is important that he had seen as we all have people suggesting that when they were in Atlanta, maybe the guys went out to bars and clubs and all of that strongly refuted that notion he was saying, yes, they got lax in some of their protocols, but it wasn't like they were out there doing things that were like super erase. I just thought that was important to get in. That said Jeff, what does the League's response to the Marlins, and now the cardinals outbreaks tell us about what we should expect for the remainder of this season. Greenie tells us that Major. League Baseball is saying damn the torpedoes full speed ahead, we are going to play through outbreaks and we saw that with the marlins and we're seeing that now with the cardinals, seven players on the cardinals have covid nineteen six staff members as well. Those thirteen people have been sent back to Saint Louis Right now is the cardinals trying to figure out what exactly they are going to do. They played only five games, this season Greeny, and yet the fact that they're missing potentially at least another four games possibly another week of games on top of that. MLB says, okay. This is this is reality if we want to put a baseball season on traveling around the country in two thousand twenty and it is a reality that they are embracing in full because at this point, if there's going to be baseball Greenie they really don't have another choice Jessica. What do you think? I think that honestly, this is something that's going. We're going to see it again in another team I hate saying that, but you get one player and that's what jumps out to me. So much is now seen it with two teams in a week or one player has it, and then the next thing you know you blink and overnight five, six, seven players get it, and I think even talking with, Mike, Chill, the cardinals manager everyone realizing how quickly this can spread and that's something i. feel. Feel like we're gonNA see continued throughout the MLB

MLB shuts down Marlins and Phillies, revises schedule for NL East, AL East teams amid COVID-19 outbreak

"Yesterday. Four additional members of the marlins tested positive that brings the total to seventeen members of their traveling party so that then lead to well, the nationals had been scheduled to play a three game series against the marlins starting Friday. In Miami. A majority of the Washington players voted against that yesterday, the decision on whether Games are played. Played rests with Major League Baseball, however, not with the nationals, but the league then did agree with the nats and postponed all of Miami's games through Sunday. So they're now not scheduled to play basically for the rest of the week that includes games originally scheduled for today and tomorrow in Baltimore against the Orioles, who will now instead host the Yankees for two game series starting tonight. Remember the Yankees had two games canceled or postponed that we're supposed to be in Philadelphia over the last couple of days. So Jeff here they are major league baseball for perfectly understandable reasons rearranging their schedule on the fly. What more can you tell us? Greenie. A schedule is a schedule, and till it is not and that's the scenario that Major League baseball is facing right now with the Miami Marlins. The idea that they are even going to complete sixty games simply is not possible at this point there points in the schedule where they can make up that three-game series against the nationals possibly, but the four games that they're going to be missing against. The Baltimore? Orioles. Orioles, they don't have enough off days to do that. Let alone to string series together like this. So Major League Baseball's looking scenario in which at least one team or two. If you include, the Orioles are going to be playing fewer than sixty games. Now, it helps that the marlins are probably going to be at the bottom of the National League east the Orioles are going to be at the bottom of. Of, the American League East, that these aren't the teams that are going to be in playoff contention that said this may not be the only time. We see this happen during this season. So at least there is a precedent being set early

"We've got the Yankees and the dodgers in separate games in a doubleheader tonight, and they are the Vegas Co favorites this year for those who haven't seen it. What is your world series prediction at the end of this unprecedented sprint of a baseball season? Will Greenie everyone's talking about the Yankees and dodgers and look at their rosters and their stars in the Yankees Got Garrett Cole this off season. The dodgers got bets so I'm going Yankees dodgers and they're just so stacked greeny and Sprint with sixteen games. I'm not sure what's going to happen. There's a lot of crazy things that could happen in two thousand twenty. At those two teams on paper, you have to say they're the world series favorites and you mentioned bets here. Let's get back to him. I don't know that anyone was really expecting on the day before the season began for mookie Betts to sign a three hundred sixty five million dollar contract extension. What was your reaction? First of all good for mookie Betts he's one of the top players in the game at a historically great player, and he's getting to play for the LA dodgers one of the top teams when the top franchises in all of baseball and so men good for Mookie Betts and I. Think a lot of fans are gonNA. Say Oh, well, look you know. Baseball's going to be fine. Players were getting paid, but you really look at why the players were so upset. This off season, and in all these negotiations with the owners is that salaries have not been really increasing with the state of play in Major League Baseball. You look at revenues have pretty much triple. Since Alex Rodriguez's huge contract twenty years ago, franchise values are up seven x in the last twenty years, but yet our top players are still just kind of making a round the same. They've been making for decades, so mookie Betts got a great contract, but I think what you've seen is a lot of teams are spreading these deals out. He's got twelve years right there. Spreading these deals out to stay under the luxury tax. This luxury tax is a problem for major. League baseball players and MOOKIE got his, but a lot of players won't get. There's this off season.

"What is your first day Stephan as we discussed earlier ball for or enraged a lot of people none more than Dick Young young was the pugnacious New York Daily News sports columnist who is credited with replacing the purple style of his grantland rice forebears with punch in the face pros and and also pioneering locker room newsgathering but young was also a conservative bore an ownership toady? He hated Marvin Miller. He loathed soccer. He disdained activists. Athletes like Muhammad Ali and Joe Nemeth so a young was predisposed to dislike the iconoclastic Jim Belton he wants wrote. That boughton finds injustice wherever he looks after excerpts of ball four were published in look magazine in May nineteen seventy young wrote to full columns about Boughton and and mentioned him in at least two more on May twenty fourth young was tipped off the Commissioner Buoy Kyun was going to reprimand about and for his muckraker expose the interesting trash certainly can be construed as detrimental to the image of baseball ball young wrote and if the players association has any clues not to mention a sense of responsibility it also reprimand Boughton for Fifth Column Ing Fellow members the idea of image and betrayal was central to young's attempt Taylor Swift Boat Mountain on May twenty eighth delivered a full length attack young speculated that Boughton would be fined by June he wasn't and that his career would end because of the book it did and that season but because boughton pitched badly. Why would a ball player risk these things young asked for the answer I you must try to understand the type of man Jim Belton? Is I feel sorry for Boughton. He is a social leper young road. He didn't catch it. He developed it his collaborator on the Book Leonard Scheckter there is a social leper people like this embittered people sit down in their time of deepest rejection and right they right Oh hell everybody's stinks everybody but me and it makes them feel much better. In ball four boughton admitted added that he was an outsider with the Yankees and pledged to try to fit in better with Seattle so young smart acidly accused him of being a hypocrite that tells you something about Jim Belton he wrote. He is willing to surrender his proud individuality in order to survive. If a man is such a superior individual why does he bothered a hang on for another year in such a shabby environment. Surely a man of his high intelligence has drive his nobility of purpose can make twenty seven thousand dollars or more elsewhere young then went on to mock Boughton for confessing to anxiety about his pitching and suggested that Boughton should drink to get over it and then he defended Mickey Mantle against batons revelations that mantle drank a lot and wasn't nice to fans and reporters by arguing that mantle might have been a two twenty hitter if he didn't drink case closed all of this was young's way of complaining about and broke the code nowhere to Dick Young or anyone else who attacked ball four dispute the accuracy of the book they disputed Bowden's things right to tell it that tells you something about Dick Young what really offended him was that ball four unmasked the compliance sports press as collaborators and mythologised salty than their predecessors but still part of an inside game that they wanted control that was clear an item and Young's column on May thirty first in which he used batons disgruntled X.. Yankees teammate Joe Pepe tone as a proxy to attack Boughton assault on the fiction of lionising players Phony Heroes inbounds words. I don't care that you write about me but why tear down mantle young quoted Pepe tone saying he's a star man he was great. We should all be so great young followed up by using pepe tone to slander boughton personally. Why didn't he right that? He's the Hornets the bleep in baseball -ASEBALL on June third after mccune met with the pitcher but didn't punish him and Boughton privately and then publicly refused to apologize for the book young wrote it is the deceit the Jim Belton must live with it is the deficiency of moral values that he should think think of next time he says he is not sorry the next time he boasts of having created a social commentary all other things are secondary. What a sanctimonious Prick Boughton though treated young like the troll he was when the book came out baton was pitching for the Astros and he ran into young and the visitors clubhouse at Shea Stadium.

"Heroes. He didn't like phonies Phony Heroes Curious Stephon for how you position this book with your work particularly a few seconds of panic because they're some obvious very very obvious surface level connections there but one of the things that you wrote about so well and and your work is sort of how you felt like empathy for the players in the locker room had the players got along how they were smart and and I I didn't get the sense the felt alienated in that Locker Room and the same way that Boughton who was an actual major league baseball player felt alienated in his own locker room like how do you square those things. I think Boughton felt alienated because he was different. He wasn't trying to assimilate I mean he but he also admitted in in ball four that for once he was going to try to be one of the guys and he was criticized for that by the likes of Dick Young. I'm GonNa talk about in later on in the show <hes> but to me what Boughton did was the service that Boughton did was that he allowed the players to be themselves. He did it sort of clandestinely. I was there in the guys I was a reporter. They knew I was taking notes and recording their their words and what Boughton I think helped to do in addition to sort of reshaping the way athletes conceived of their memoirs and the way that fans embrace those kinds of memoirs ars with candor with honesty with openness <hes> you know what Boughton was able to do was show the frailties of the players and make everybody accepting of them himself first and foremost I mean in rereading ball four over the years. I've probably read at eight or ten times. What comes through to me? John is that ultimately when you get past as you said the beaver shooting and the Greenie taking this is a really sad book. This is about a man sort of reckoning with his failures with his with his departure from this this profession that he loves so much Yeah Yeah Jim Jim was on the downside of his career after nineteen sixty five right and he continued to pitch that didn't didn't matter whether it was independently whether it was beer Bali or whether it was a promotional <hes> return under Ted Turner's hers Atlanta Braves in seventy eight were actually won a game in through six shutout innings or at least six innings with no earned runs as I recall so Jim. JIM LOVES THE GAME HE LOVES THE GAME MORE I think than end Elston Howard more than <hes> Mickey Mantle. I think <hes> Jim was never quite ready to let it go so that's why he was still pitching in his seventies when. As a historian John Youth looked at kind of myths about baseball going back to the nineteenth century where they're kind of Bowden Lake figures before Bowden in terms. You've folks when you're trying to look back and see what was actually happening. In the game who did kind of tell it like it was an earlier era. No I think even though we have baseball autobiographies or nominal autobiographies as early as King Kelly's play ball in eighteen eighty eight they were all ghosted the first book that I'm aware of that I ball player actually wrote was Jim Browsing in nineteen sixty and there were plenty of Christy Mathewson Crappo <hes> memoirs and recollections and anecdotes and this is in a way the the core of the game. This is the myth the sustaining myth that `attaches his we attacked us as kids to baseball and hard wires that for us as adults and historically. I wonder particularly post Boughton why that was the case..

"Died last week at the age of eighty John Thorn the official historian for Major League baseball was a very close friend of bounds for many years he is here or now John. Thank you for joining US sure glad to recall Jim like so many other people John I I read ball four when I was in my teens and also like so many other people it changed me it was profane and hilarious and irreverent which validated a particular our teenage way of thinking but more important it was honest demystified baseball and it made me love baseball even more than I already did which was a lot. What was it about Bowden's personality that made him the right athlete at the right time I am to do this? It's not too much to call him. The boy in the emperor's new clothes and he's the guy who pointed out all the failings and foibles of the ordinary human beings who have populated it is the baseball landscape that policy that we were handed down or even the so-called true stories as in Sport magazine were not true enough so the stuff that Bowden revealed in the book whether it was players cheating on their wives players taking amphetamines Mickey Man all playing hung over you can understand how this sort of stuff might appeal to those has like Steph and Fats S._C.. Wanted to know the truth about what was happening and locker rooms and clubhouses in humanized players you know for their they were human. They were necessarily great people or or evil people they're just people but there was a certain group of folks who read this book and hated it yes and hated westbound reveal the cow. Would you characterize the folks who were upset about Balfour and why they were upset. Well Commissioner Hyun uncalled <hes> Boughton into his office and tried to strong harm him into saying it was all Scheckter's fault. The sections related to the foibles of his teammates were all fiction Leonard Sector About co-writer yes editor as about and called him. Yes and I think editor is much better than co writer because I don't think scheckter contributed anything original to the book but rather shaped the audio tapes and coon tried you to get to say that he was sorry for having written a book and Bowden of course would have none of that and one of the most interesting things about this and I don't remember this. I didn't remember this until I read about and sequel to Baltimore which he published in the next year which describes the reaction to the book was the Downton brought with him to that meeting Marvin Miller who is the head of the Players Association and another thing. I didn't really appreciate was the way that ball four or is rooted in the slow. March toward player writes that it was an important inflection point for the sport a few years later players would get free agency Marvin no relieved that charge and during during the Andy Messersmith hearings on free agency Miller actually quoted from ball four <hes> yeah I think <hes> you know Miller came on board. What sixty six I think and Bowden's book came out in Nineteen Seventy and by seventy seventy four seventy five you had free agency so it's Square in the middle and all these years later more important than the beaver shooting or the Greenie taking was <hes> this ironic Roenick huck Finn child-like stance that Bowden took tour grownups altogether not merely the baseball players yeah? He told me he said that he wanted to to knock down heroes..

"In the last I got seven years now are Oklahoma City Trading Hardin to Houston and two thousand twelve after losing the finals to the Miami Heat and then in Oklahoma City losing the Western Conference finals to Golden State and two thousand sixteen and then durant leaving for Golden State afterwards. Let's talk about the trade I kind of how did you come to understand that moments when you're working on the back both for Oklahoma City and for the fans of the team it's complicated in any if something that's been turned into like this cartoon narrative that <hes> same prestigious Chris do sitting on a on a dynasty squandered for no reason or squandered it for the greediness of the owners or whatever I think one of the big worries that doesn't get talked about a lot was just the Fed the actual encore fit an awkward fit between Kevin Durant Russell Westbrook in James Harden. <hes> you know the team that went to the finals in twenty twelve harden was the sixth man and it was unclear that Wayne how good he it was it was clear that he was very good he was he was like setting these efficiency records I mean he was like like Wilt Chamberlain plus in terms of scoring efficiency on the floor in some unlimited limited time so the question was well. Do we have on our hands a third actual legitimate like top five league superstar player or do we have this kind of super sub who if you put him on his team gave him the full spotlight you know his his counting numbers would go way up efficiency would would come down back to earth and that was kind of the bet. I think that the thunder franchise made in that Press d made was like this guy is not the next Michael Jordan skies not like a revolutionary Gary Player who's GonNa Change everything then harden has had had in all of his talks with them during the draft and everything he had really volunteered for that sixth man role for that supplemental role and they thought they had found the perfect supplementary star tobacco up the superstars of of Durand Westbrook when Harden God that good it was really a problem and they had to figure out how do we balance these three guys because we have three ball dominant generational national talents in how do they share the floor and how do they all stay happy and I think there were really strong. Indications that James Harden was not gonNa stay happy in that role of being the third wheel and that he really wanted his own team. I think that's a strong element in that story than people realize that James Harden wanted to become the James Harden that we see today who is absolutely transformational revolutionary basketball talented changed how offense defense is played in the N._B._A.. And who took bet that efficiency and just ramped it right up to like maximum usage. I don't think they realized they had this like mythical god-like player on their team. I don't think anyone knew quite how good James Harden was. I guess it would have played out differently if hardened had just like a normal superstar publicly demanded a trade and insisted that to leave rather than management intuitive saying that that's what he wanted and now James Harden.

"For the franchise for the fans for him of the bugs in more yeah everybody I think it just became exhausting. I mean to live like Russell Westbrook to be a fan of Russell. Westbrook is exhausting and so whatever comes next it'll be easier than that in certain ways so Paul. George laughed on the one year anniversary of Paul George Day the Mayor David Holt issued a proclamation Paul George's here to stay in recognition of P._G.. Thirteen commitment to our city and fading anticipation of the journey had declined Saturday July seventh to be Paul George Dan Oklahoma City so I knew about that everybody made light of that but I had remembered or realized sized Sam is that the previous mayor had declared Russell Westbrook day in two thousand seventeen but not only did he declared Russell Westbrook Day he said in an act that I think might be unprecedented. Quote exactly that's such a perfect illustration of the they went back exhaustion up loving Russell Westbrook. It's like we love him so much. Every moment of our lives is now dedicated to him but there's something that's both kind of charming about the connection between these players and the city and something kind of pathetic about it too just like with with the George on particular like you can understand Westbrook. The guy had been there forever. He did great things over many years and led the team in the city to glory entering the city's loyalty by staying for as long as he did and but with George. It's just like think you're like that you know happy that this guy is around like just feels like kind of their the the team and the city and it's fans or maybe asking gang and expecting too much of these players especially in the player empowerment era. There's going to be like a lot of disappointment and store for Oklahoma City fans in the years to come well. I have to wonder whether being so oh nakedly desperate about catering to someone like Russell Westbrook personality which has sam you just said is exhausting. Is there a fear that we can't recreate this. Our colleague Joel Anderson tweeted needed that he wonders whether the N._B._A.. Can even survive in Oklahoma City which I think is a little bit overstated because of the way that franchises refunded and salary caps work but there has to be thinking they're even if you're optimistic optimistic and you're saying Prestige general manager and you've heard it all these draft picks and you're doing a classic rebuild that can we ever persuade players of this caliber to come here and energize this fan base. which is you know it's not the biggest fan base in America but it's a very loyal fan base and there's just enough corporate money and enough season ticket buying potential to make it work yeah? I wouldn't go so far as being worried if the franchise can survive there. I do think there is some truth to this sort of P._r.. P._R. sounding notion that the city and the team have a special connection that runs quite a bit deeper than cities and most teams <hes> and I think moment you see some of this kindling that San Prestige has collected in the form of future draft picks <hes> start to spark in Bern. You'll see that passion combat completely <hes> I mean it was really that's how Oklahoma City earned a team was they kind of auditioned by adopting New Orleans Hornets after Hurricane Katrina a and they just blew the league's mind with the level of local support that was there they'd never really seen anything like it so I wouldn't underestimate the people of Oklahoma City and I wouldn't underestimate samp restes ability to mm to reboot and set the team up for a second. You know sort of dynasty chance at a second dynasty. It's funny to talk about that first team as as a dynasty that's how we talked about it in twenty twelve and then of course it immediately. Eli started like the wheels started coming off their furiously slapping the back on and it was like a contender for many many many many seasons that just never quite got over the top. Yes Zach Lowe and E._S._P._N.. On his piece about the trade argued that the two biggest inflection points for the entire N._B._A...

She faced only one seeded player on her path of the final in both cases Julia Bergaz our guests who is not the world's greatest player of all time she's fine but <hes> you know there are some luck of the draw their perhaps she wouldn't have made it to the final if she had had a tougher draw and perhaps it wasn't great for her in the end not to have been tested very much on the way to the final Simona how up in women's tennis in the past couple of years has been the ultimate tasked and she's somebody who requires of her opponents <hes> you know she she retrieves everything and so you have to be able to put her away Serena wasn't able to do it. I think it is really crazy that she has made all these slam finals and I wouldn't have expected her to make the Wimbledon final no but I do think it's just perhaps it may be what have been more flattering to her and more representative of her current abilities given her recovery from injury given her long layoff to like losing the quarterfinals to you know Halup or losing the you know in the semis to whoever <hes> you know it it's almost like by virtue of her being in the final and her history. Outplayed and there's no circumstance as Serena herself has admitted that she would have won that match no matter what happened with the empire she's about to turn thirty eight herself and there's not going to be more law more chances just for her and one level. It's remarkable that she was even there because she didn't play she's had a knee injury and hasn't played much this year and yet and yet and yet and I think that the difference to me anyway between Serena getting to these finals and federal getting to these finals is that federal plays more and you don't feel like Federer has come and gone three and a half a baby three in his head injuries Serena has not played very much and as a history of not playing much <hes> outside of the Grand Slams and for her to even make it to the finals of Wimbledon the last two years and the U._S. Open last year strikes me as pretty damn remarkable and losing these matches I think narrative we want to be a referendum on her entire career and Ken she win. The twenty fourth two time Margaret Court about Margaret Court's titles. There were all Australian nineteen sixties that is very true but she has imposed that narrative on herself sure that's something she wants really desperately so you're saying that if she wants that narrative very desperately she needs to find a way to get over the Hump in these finals that something is going into the not saying that something is clearly going wrong in these finals for her and it could be she's losing them. Yeah you don't WanNa do that. You don't want to go out there and Liz..

"I noticed that you corrected this that in your excellent piece on slate about the match to thirty two games for Jovovich obsessing about this during the match tie-break Games are not games. They're not real games. They're different thirty six to twenty nine. He looked dominant and there were moments in this match when Jovovich looked vulnerable particularly in the second set obviously which he lost one six <music> but other moments and I guess this is a joke vich trait sort of looking like everything is falling apart and fretting and pacing and getting mad but then the flip side of that is the joke which seems to find a way very frustrating. If you're a federal matter a fan finds a way some resolve to pull through this yeah he went away in the second set for sure and federal had similarly lost a six one set at all in the semi finals this happens to the greatest greatest players and the game but Jovovich has an ability over more than a decade at this point to play his best when that is what's required I wrote and my piece about the match. If he isn't isn't the greatest player of all time he's the greatest summoning greatness and that's what he did in this match fedor one two hundred eighteen points so two hundred four and the match and Jovic beat him and the tiebreakers twenty one to twelve and fettered didn't play well the the tiebreakers there are some you know you can certainly look at it through the Federal Lens and say that those tiebreakers were more about Federer not playing well than Jovovich really redlining because game as they say fetter made four backhand unforced errors in the third set tiebreaker it was not good for him but you have to Jovic credit for staying in rallies long enough and playing cleaned tennis than and knocked being there is and then in the flipside tiebreaker which was the ultimate pressure moment in the history of men's Grand Slam tennis there had never been a winner take all tiebreaker before Jovovich played aggressively he hit winners he forced fetter and tears and he was awesome. He was the best of himself and then obviously we have to talk about saving those two at that is that's the thing that Jovovich is done before too and the two thousand ten and two thousand eleven U._S. opens against Federer her he saved to match points in each of those matches. This is a thing that in the moment feels extraordinary and unprecedented like how could this possibly happen and yet in this exact matchup Jovovich has done it now three times signed it is really really remarkable and in this match it came at federal ahead eight seven with his serve in the fifth sat and as I was watching them it my first reaction was why did federal to Redo that on one of those points federal came into net and Jovic pass them on his forehand side across court and it just felt like oh you're squandering this roger. Y Not sit back. Why not I mean it's impossible to sort of deconstruct? These split-second the second decisions that athletes make I mean the reality is that Federer may have ended the match right there had he hit the ball a quarter of an inch differently on his serve because he was serving terrifically in this match. Yeah I mean I think a lot of it is ex post facto analysis when I watched that point again I saw federal made a I serve this is it forty thirty eight seven made a I serve but missed his spot it did not go right down the tea and went to joke pitches forehand. Jovic blocks the ball back and it's not a great return federal hits an approach and he again mrs spot he doesn't hit it into the foreign corner doesn't hit it into backhand corner down the center a little bit too much down the center and he rushes forward and forces Jovovich.

"It's better as maximum gas bag man, I'm gonna tell I would tell you something I will put my hands on us. You call me traffic up. Again. I am not a fan of that. Oh, my God Boettger. Yes. So so so here's what I hear in that little soundbite research trying to be funny while at the same time letting you know that he really doesn't like that. And I understand it. There's a little sensitivity from, you know, read adman Nagai Andy greenie like they don't want to be known as traffic cops their host, Dan, they are home. Thank you for the correction, right? But but I do not mean it as an insult because they are all exceptional traffic. Cops. Well, but then when you say traffic cops how many well-known traffic cops artists. So basically what that means is you can be replaced at any moment. That's the reason why they level of sensitivity. When those words are us with the likes of greenie Reese Davis, and so on and so I am totally good with you being the ombudsmen on this on this particular issue. We will declare till semi we'll declare it. So because bugger said so I wanna talk to you about the the booger mobile because I saw where front row people were upset because you were in front of them. And then the league had to decide look these are high paying customers. Let's change the booger mobile. Can you break some news for us on the inner workings of that whole thing? How did the booger mobile get slightly transformed? So what happened was we were in Atlanta and the giants were there and this giant superfan? I don't know who is named is some super fat guy that just traveled and watches the giants play all the time. He posted a video of it starts tagging every. Everybody that he thought would say something on his behalf. He starts tagging everybody in bringing a lot of attention to it. And so everyone suffering. Okay. Well, maybe we're interrupting or interfering with some sideline. But here's the key. The only thing that was really interfering with them was the TV that we put on the back. So they wouldn't miss any of the game. And so all we did was take the big seventy inch TV off the bag that they could watch the game and not being rubbed. Did. We just took it off the back and all of a sudden now, man, they changed the whole mobile. No. We just took the TV off the back. So if you don't wanna watch the game of close, then so be it God this is short. So it sounds like this sounds like that you're are you bothered by those you bothered about the dismantling of your vehicle. Well, to be honest with you, Dan, I didn't even know the vehicle was this medal until after the game. And I look back, and I'm like worse the TV and like where we took the TV off. Because here's the thing. You gotta understand. I never see the TV because I have a headset on and I'm listening to you know, Joe Tessa torn Witten in the producer and all these. Different people. So I'd never hear what the fans say nor do I ever look behind me during the game. So it really was something that didn't affect me at all. But wait a minute booger. Are you telling us that they altered the booger mobile without consulting with booger? Well, they altered the mobile in the part that the fans were privy to which was the TV. Now, the inner workings of the mobile, which is my two Cup holders. My phone charger. My snack pack. None of that was touch. So awesome. Where's that TV? Now, by the way, exactly like where is it? I'm really not sure I've tried to see if I can get it on the low low, but I don't I don't think this. He's going to sell it wholesale. Can you guys? Help us understand what more is in the book or mobile plays for those who do not know. So the book of mobile consists of a nice comfy lounge share some similar to that that you would find in in like a lazy boy area, very similar to dedicate. It doesn't recline. I have two nights on breasts. They have little velvet on them make the make sure my elbow. Stay soft. And I have a an iphone charger. You have to Cup holders..

"Please tell them when greenie said what i what i now have forgotten what i was going to say oh is that it is remarkable how these games become each time a referendum on everything so yesterday kevin durant wasn't going to be in golden state for more than another fifteen minutes right he was looking for some place else to go and he's the scapegoat if they lose and now all of a sudden he's the finals mvp and they couldn't possibly wouldn't without him it is remarkable how one game changes the narrative so much there plus fifty six with him on the court plus fifty six that's insane he shooting fifty six percent from the field and forty seven percent from three point line is he the mvp right now or no he's the mvp and he's the cheat code for the warriors i'll continue to say that if you unlock assassin katie game over and not that they do do cleveland fans hold up number one we're number one no never made this sort of thing it's seventy seven series faecal if that finger were okay with it now a big number here a little help there have been a total of nine three excuse me there but a total of nine three point triple doubles in the whole history of the nba final lebron has five of those nine four of them with cleveland the cavs have split those four games this is the equivalent of a pitcher throwing like eight perfect innings and his bullpen blowing the lead in the night you can't get a win no matter what you do again he has five of the nine all point triple doubles in the nba finals team of only one half and he will not be the mvp of the final not if it gets wet no chance maria let's get up and go all right let's get it done the ranch big night it was even more important because the struggles that steph curry and klay thompson had the two of them combined for just twenty one point seven twentyseven the splash brothers couldn't throw it in the ocean jalen what's up.

"I think that's over to beetle because this i wanted to come over when you were showing this before because this does a t shirt greenie right there him holding up one finger yeah sounds good to me put more xs on people that would be really good series for the sixers were favored to move on against the celtics but somehow found themselves three games in the whole ben simmons hasn't been great game tune and make a shot he's averaging only eleven points a game was is the big one he's turned the ball over sixteen times in this series he's got a great regular season a good first round series but then something's happened what's going on with this guy the playoffs beats and what ends up happening the further you advance the weakness of your weaknesses of your game get exposed and that's why teams that are able to advance are able to play multiple different styles so forbid simmons the obvious thing about his game he's a terrific floor general he's an amazing athlete but the most important thing in basketball beside being able to dribble or play with effort is to be able to shoot and since he hit make shots hampers of the decisions that he makes like where he gets a rebound with eighteen seconds to go he's shooting it back up because he doesn't want to get fired all right that i think is the most important thing if you're going to have the ball in your hands as much as he is gonna have the ball and since you have to be able to make foul shots you can be a subpar shooter he can develop that part of his game but he has to start making fell shots because i totally agreed with what you said over there before i think when he throws that ball up there as quickly as he does in that circumstance part of it is i don't wanna get found.
