"Let's get back to joaquin neiman. Did was there. Anyone who would have been the person that you would have been the most nervous to be around either to have played with or walk by on the range. Or if they're watching you hit balls on the range you'd have been nervous to be around. Who someone that that at that age would have major nervous riley. Yeah probably playing around here. I think i think the first time i saw was the moriarty was late north third or four tournament which Experience i remember. I was playing great. I was almost the last ruben sunday. I mean i could hear that. There was not only ten groups front but i could hear everything that's note and the people following him by think. Sergio helped me a lot to like. Get that pressure off. You know like lie. Know him. Before i turn pro. I will to play with him before on unknown how good they are also know that i can like i can be here. You know. I was actually at that memorial that year and i remember watching. Ut off on the tenth hole once. i'd never seen you hit a ball in person and it just stuck out to me immediately and do on tv. And i'm sure you hear a lot about how low you hit the ball and i'm just curious. Has that always been the case. And is that something that you know you. You were aware of growing up or any special reason. Why would hit the ball. Low and chile. Or do you think about that at all non. It was is fine because at the beginning that league union a lot of confidence. When i'm like a little bit nebulous son. I need to hit the way. I'll heed that show on a new. I remember when i start being professional a using. That showed that now during the time. Yeah i've been using it less. I'd i'd be using more hydro. I'm just trying to hit farther on. May i have that show that. I feel really confident when a heated unease yummies late may go to That's what i was. I was curious. And i was looking back at the highlights from when you won at greenbrier every now and then that forty one foot apex driver shot comes out and i was. I was just interesting because of how different the game appear the direction. The game appears to be heading seems to be you know track man. Everyone's telling you hit it high. Hit hi hi. I'm wondering if you know as you were transitioning from amador into pareo if anybody came along and said hey you could hit it this much further if you hit it higher or but i think what you just said though it's interesting how you've you've prioritized accuracy. But i'm wondering if if that has evolved at all over the years. I remember when i played. Infirm courses The bogus along. Way i Relate to two seventy and he runs it. Depends on the fairway ferry. Sometimes when their firm for example greenbrier they allowed so sometimes is not that short by yemi normally. I've been preferring. yes More with hydro. Sometimes i got bunkers around when he died. I'm like are now monday. Just gonna he'd been the hydro and the beginning. I was really. I don't know if i was a little bit more secure or no but early. I prefer yesterday that low one being more coffee when the on knowing that i'm gonna hit the airway but now he's more like a feel like i feel better on the course right now and i just. I just thought that showed that like more. And he's been pretty good lately. So i like it do you feel. Where do you feel most comfortable. Like firm and fast conditions or when when it softer yeah. I like away. When when he's firm. I know that. I don't hear really really high with the also with the iron. So it is hard to me to stub on own the green when i when i'm lega 5-iron their firm 'cause i don't get it like really high but yeah i mean like bain with firm conditions. I think is is more fun on unb lehner green or heating widgets from the hundred twenty yards is is is good to see that like bouncing around the great in those more fun. Yeah i mean. I find it interesting you know. Obviously when it's firm your drivers going to run out a lot more but like you said it's hard to hold greens. If you hit it low and i i wanna talk a little about royal melbourne in the president's cup. You know you have it's interesting. You didn't have the most success at royal melbourne yet at the same time at olympia fields this year which was very firm and fast you finish third. And i'm i wanna talk a lot about role melvin. But first off. I would say. Did you learn anything in particular from that week. That helped you in later situations when it is going to be firm and fast. Yeah more than of course it was more like the atmosphere. Unlike the like getting that amount of pressure it was one of those way i mean the whole way was really intense. On the course roy ever was unbelievable. I mean i think he's one of my favorite right now. Unease eighty s a lot of strategy. I remember ernie was standing us. They don't in many drivers. You gotta The ball on the right side than it was more. Legacy smart play yet was different course. i remember in chicago Driver everywhere every bunker was laid three or three. Oh five three. Thank ari so i was trying to cater scarlet side. Ken he was going straight. You which is which was really good that we

Twenty six in campbelltown australia. A farmer named frederick fisher suddenly disappeared except in his case. It took a couple of days for people to start asking questions. That's when his neighbor. George worl pipes up. George says he spoke to frederick shortly before he disappeared and allegedly frederick just decided to move back to his original hometown in england so definitely not a murder or kidnapping and even though frederick sudden departure is strange. It's not enough to keep anyone up at night. All of his neighbors. Basically move on but just four months after frederick's disappearance so weird happens one night. A local man named john. Farley is walking home from the pub when he sees someone sitting on the fence by the creek now to be fair. Farley's probably a little tipsy. But according to him he tip toes. That'll closer to have a look immediately. Farley is stunned to realize the person is none. Other than frederick fisher. The man who supposedly went back to england frederick doesn't explain his four month absence. Instead he makes eye contact with farley and slowly points towards the creek. Ben frederick just disappears immediately. Farley goes from being confused to totally freaked out like people can't just vanish into thin air. It had to have been a ghost. Which means frederick didn't move after all. He's dead barley hustles back home but he can't keep the scary experience to himself the very next day he tells everyone that he's just seen fredericks ghost and that it pointed towards the creek eventually local authorities agreed to search the area. It's not long before they fish out. Frederick fisher's corpse. It's unclear whether he appeared to have simply drowned or of he was visibly harmed but one thing is clear he never made it back to england like his old neighbor. John world claimed in fact word gets out that george has been selling off. All of frederick's things and pocketing the money so far he's been claiming that frederick left the stuff to him. But after finding frederick's body the police go ahead and arrest him. George was eventually convicted of frederick murder. But as for john farley the man who turned him in he eventually came clean. According to a contemporary newspaper account farley emitted years later that he never saw fredericks ghost pointing to the creek. He didn't even need a goes to tell him where. Frederick's body wise because he witnessed the entire murder happen obviously. It's really weird to make a ghost story instead of just going to the authorities but apparently farley was scared to tell the cops because he was afraid george war all the murderer would find out and come after him in any case the whole thing sounds a lot like zona easter shoes story. Some seventy years later and as it turns out. This probably isn't a coincidence. Fast forward to nineteen eighty six author. Katie letcher. Lyle gets really interested in zona story so she decides to write her next book about the so-called greenbrier ghost in her research. Lyle comes across worn detail that very few people know. According to lyle zone as airy appeared on page three of the local newspaper greenbrier independent in january eighteen. Ninety seven and page one of that veer. Same newspaper featured an article. About frederick fisher's ghost so okay the fact that. This story was published the same day as zone. As obituary means that her mother mary jane could have definitely read it and maybe she was inspired to make up a ghost story of her own and i can't really blame her. If you think about it. Mary jane never had a good feeling about edward shoe. She could see right through his tall tales and she was worried when zona married him not to mention edward standing guard by his wife's body like some sort of keeper of secrets. Obviously mary jane could have just gone straight to law enforcement but remember. This is the victorian era. A woman's suspicions were more likely to be dismissed back that so a desperate mother making a go story for closure pretty understandable except for one thing the vertebrae. How did mary. Jane know that zone is neck was broken between the first and second vertebrae that detail alone is so specific that it's hard to just accept that she coincidentally guessed it right and it's not you. Can i all that kind of thing from several feet away at a funeral. I should also mention that mary. Jane never retracted her story. She went to her grave insisting that everything happened exactly the way she described it which to be fair. This woman may have just wanted to preserve pride but at that point. It's not like anyone would have blamed her for coming clean. We'll never know. Just how mary jane got it. So perfectly right. Maybe her goes will show up some day ready to.

"Burst into tears. Now priced in still. Doesn't believe in ghosts but the fact that zone his body was never examined disturbs him so much so that he agrees to reopen the case. Mary jane is thrilled but edward feels very differently and when he hears. His wife's body is to be zoomed. he is furious. But what can he do. Preston is the town prosecutor and edward knows. He shouldn't draw anymore suspicious attention to himself and just to show how skeptical everyone else's that edward even did it. He's actually invited to be present for the day of the actual examination. Edward accepts their invitation. And he's literally in the same room as the doctors who are scrutinizing. His wife's body their entire autopsy last for three whole days and edward seems nervous. He tells his friends that he knows he'll be arrested. Once it's over but he also says there's no way that the police will be able to prove that he killed zona like even if she was murdered at doesn't mean he did it either way on the third day. The doctors finally get around to examining zone is neck and the evidence is all their zona has black and blue marks all around her neck as if someone violently strangled her not only that her windpipe has been crushed but by far the craziest thing that the doctors discover is that her neck had been broken. It's snapped right between the first and second vertebrae just like her. Ghost told mary jane with that. The doctor turns to edward and says well edward. We have found your wife's neck to have been broken then. Just as edward predicted preston charges him with murder and takes him into police custody mary. Jane is triumphant when her son in law is finally put behind bars but then news about edwards passed slowly starts coming out as it turns out. He is even shadier than mary. Jane ever imagined for one. Edward first name is it even edward. It's a razzmatazz and sure enough. He's not twenty nine. He's actually thirty five but what really gets mary. Jane is that zona wasn't even edwards. First wife she was his third. Apparently eleven years before moving to greenbrier in eighteen eighty. Five edward married his first spouse. A young woman called alley. Lean cutlip the to made their home in pocahontas county west virginia but their union was extremely unhappy. Edward was often violent beating alley so frequently and severely that it became common knowledge around town now. This was the late eighteen hundreds when it came to spousal abuse. People were known to kind of mind their own business to a fault but apparently edwards behavior disturbs the other resident so much that one night a group of young boys come knocking on his door when edward answers they drag him out of his house and throw him into an ice hole and just so. There's no doubt about why they did it. They tell edward that they attacked him because he keeps beating up his wife. And i should mention that. None of the boys are prosecuted on the contrary townspeople up to vouch for their character. That's how disgusted. They are with the way. Edward treats his wife a few months later. Edward is thrown in jail for horse. Thievery alley uses this opportunity to safely divorce edward. She can finally escape him but things don't go so well for edwards second wife. After his release from jail edward moves to the outskirts of pocahontas county where he marries a young woman named lucy and it but just eight months later. Lucy dies now. There are a lot of different accounts about how she died. Some people say lucy fell and hit her head. Others claim that edward deliberately dropped a brick on her way happened. It seemed clear that there was some form of brain trauma and a lot of unanswered questions. But for whatever reason lucy's death is put down as an accident and there's never an investigation fast forward to eighteen ninety seven. Mary jane easter was probably reeling as she heard all these horrifying stories about her son in law but edward seems confident about his upcoming trial. Sure zone his neck was broken but it's impossible to prove that he broke it. All the prosecution has to go on is some circumstantial evidence and the testimony of a ghost. Edward even gets a little cocky in prison. Not only does he admit that zona was his third wife. He says he hopes to marry seven wives over the course of his life finally in june of eighteen ninety seven five months after zones death. The trial begins but even mary. Jane is the reason they are all here. Preston doesn't want her on the stand. If anything her testimony about a ghost can only hurt the case. Naturally edwards defense attorney takes the complete opposite approach. They can't wait for the jury to get a load of zone. 'as mom story so the immediately tap mary jane as their witness the minute she takes the stand edwards lawyers. Try and make her look stupid. They do this by asking her about her so called dreams but mary. Jane just keeps her cool. She calmly answers that she wasn't dreaming. She was quote as wide awake as she's ever been end quote. Eventually edwards lawyers realized. They're not going to rattle her before long. She's let go then. The prosecution calls edward shoe to the stand and a whole new level of crazy is unleashed. Edward is seething antagonistic. He accuses the prosecution of being driven by sheer spite and throughout his testimony. Edward goes on these long pointless tangents where he describes random events in detail in short. His performance is a complete disaster and it comes as the prize. After a brief deliberation the jury returns and declares war guilty by now all mary. Jane's naysayers have switched sides. This guy definitely murdered his wife and it seems pretty clear. This guy will get the death penalty. Which was the standard back in eighteen. Ninety seven's west. Virginia but for whatever reason. The judge ops to give edward life in prison. Which if you think about it makes sense. Edward was convicted on the basis of some circumstantial evidence along with eight truly terrible performance in court and an initial ghost story like it definitely adds up. But it's not exactly a clear case still. Several greenbrier residents are furious about this. They're convinced. Edward is a murderer and he can't stand the idea of him weasling out of the death penalty so not long after the verdict. A mob of about twenty angry men decide to bust edward out of jail and hang him themselves. Fortunately for edward greenbrier deputy sheriff catches wind of this and he manages to talk down the mock then just three years later. Edward died simply enough from about of pneumonia. So whether or not you'd call it justice this guy is dead. He can't cause any more harm. But that's not exactly the end of the story because while this is the only time in america that anyone has been sentenced to prison essentially because of a ghost story. It's not the only time ever. The same thing had already happened in australia about seventy years before his own ghost made her first.

"Not even mary jane her mother. Edward has also prompt a pillow and blanket beneath zone. His head when people ask him about it he says he wants to make his dead wife more comfortable but everyone who manages to catch a closer glimpse at the body before edward shoos them away has the same thought. It looks like zone as neck is a little bit loose. It's almost as if the bedding is the only thing keeping her neck propped up but apparently nobody calls this out and before zone. His family knows it. Her body is six feet underground. Still none of this sits well with mary. Jane in fact mary. Jane is furious. Her young daughter suddenly dropping dead never made any sense and after witnessing edward at the funeral mary. jane's gut is telling her that something is rotten in greenbrier. She is desperate for answers so mary jane praise for a sign. She asks god to show her what happened to zona and eventually she receives an answer from the great beyond coming up zone as ghost visits mary. Jane hi listeners. Hbo max now back to the story a few weeks after his own his funeral marry. Jane is woken up in the middle of the night by a bright light. Now this happens in eighteen ninety seven so there's not a whole lot of sales left to work with. But apparently according to mary jane the light was at the foot of her bed and it seemed like mary. Jane isn't so much scared by it. As she is confused. She keeps gazing at the light trying to understand it and gradually it starts to take on a physical for until to her shock. Mary jane realizes what she's looking at. Its zona solid. As she ever was in life stunned mary. Jane reaches out toward her dead daughter. But before she can make contact sonal disappears. Mary jane instantly has a feeling that she just saw her daughter's ghost and she worries that she's lost zone all over again that her ghost will never come back but after that first night zone ghost visits mary jane three more times over. The course of those three visits zona apparently tells mary jane a chilling tale now. This story is already pretty hard to believe but allegedly zone tells. Mary jane that her last evening on earth did not go all the way she had planned zone had cooked supper for her handsome husband edward to enjoy when he got home from work when he sits down at the table edwards clouds over he realizes zona hasn't prepared any meat to go with the meal then he completely flips out. It's unclear what all he does. But according to zone ghost edwards started all of her things he got so worked up that he eventually reached out and strangled her. And that's not all zone reveals. She says he kept squeezing until her neck snapped right between the first and second vertebrae. According to mary jane zona actually get that specific then as if to prove her words zona turns her head three hundred sixty degrees showing her mother without a shadow of a doubt that her vertebrae aren't attached mary. Jane is stunned but before she can react. Zona disappears and supposedly. That's the last time she ever sees her daughter's ghost. Okay obviously this story is completely crazy. The idea of a ghost coming back from the dead and twisting their head around is like something of a bad movie. But if mary jane is aware how nuts her tale sounds she clearly doesn't care after zone his fourth visit. She starts telling everyone in greenbrier about her nighttime apparitions now. This is a small town and again plenty of people witnessed edwards behavior at the funeral. So it's not that outrageous to think. He had something to do with her death. But when mary jane tells people what zone is go said they just feel sorry for her. They figure that the strain of losing a child has basically caused mary jane to snap but she isn't about to give up she heads right to the offices of the county prosecutor. A guy named john. Alfred preston if mary. Jane is expecting a different reaction from preston. She's disappointed like everyone else. The prosecutor pretty much thing. She's nuts but mary. Jane is so insistent that preston decides to speak to dr nap. The coroner who examined zona and when he meets with dr nap preston is shocked by what he hears now could have lied to protect his reputation but to his credit he's totally on. He admits that he gave up on examining zone his body because every time he tried. Edward.

"Zona wants a piece of that but her mother mary. Jane easter disapproves. She doesn't like edward at all for one. Edward claims that he's twenty nine but he looks like he could be older mary. Jane also hates how he's always bragging about himself and telling all sorts of stories. That can't possibly be true. Like there's just something off about edwards whole persona. Of course her. Mother's disapproval only works to make edward that much more irresistible in zone as is so less than one month after meeting. The two lovers elope for the first few weeks of marriage. Things seem to be going well. Edward heads to work every day and when he comes back to their little home. Zona has a warm dinner on the table. They seem just like any other couple in greenbrier but three munson things take a turn. January twenty third eighteen ninety seven starts off like any other day. Edward wakes up gets dressed and heads off to the smoothie. Leaving zona at home alone only today. Edward doesn't go directly to his shop. I stopped by his neighbor. Mrs jones is house. He has an errand for her son. Andy edward tells her that his wife zona is feeling a little bit under the weather. She won't be able to deliver eggs from their farm to the store in town. So edward needs andy to do it. He also asks andy to look in on zona and find out if she wants anything else from town. Now i should mention that the joneses are one of the view black families in greenbrier and this is eighteen ninety seven so it's definitely possible that edward was used to having andy run errands and mrs jones easily agrees to it. So this doesn't seem like an unusual. Ask what is unusual. Is that edward returns to the joneses home. Four more times that day and each time. He gets progressively angrier that andy hasn't left yet. Which like sure this guy seems pretty self entitled checking in four times about a small aaron is. It's just bizarre. Even andy is a little weird out by edwards insistence but after the fourth visit he figures he better do with the irate white man wants so andy leaves his house and sets off for the shoe farm. The minute he gets there. Things seem off the first erin. Edward andy to do was pick up eggs from his chickens to bring to a store in town but no matter how much andy looks. There are no eggs to be found in the coupe which is weird because normally chickens lay eggs on a daily basis. So it's almost as if someone had already come by and collected all the eggs. In which case edward should have known or maybe zone is feeling better and did it herself. In any case. Andy still has to look in on zone so he walks over to the front door of the farmhouse and knocks. But there's no answer. Andy knocks again. But still nobody comes. After waiting around for a couple of minutes he decides to try the knob and to his surprise the doors unlocked. When andy steps inside the house is silent and zona is nowhere to be seen. Andy probably figures. She's upstairs resting but he decides to look for her in the kitchen. I but the kitchen is cold and empty like it hasn't been used all day. Still andy doesn't think of it. Zona probably just isn't feeling up to cooking and at this point he just wants to get this stupid errand over and done with so. He moves further into the house but then he stops in his tracks. Lying smack dab in the middle of the dining room floor is zona easter shoe. Her eyes are blank. Her mouth is wide open and her head is turned slightly to this side and he doesn't have to move any closer to see that sona is dead but he can't bring himself to leave without making sure so he reaches out and touches zones arm. It's ice cold. Andy doesn't need any more proof. Zona is dead and he doesn't wanna be seen anywhere near her body. He turns and sprints out of the house. Now andy doesn't go to the smith to tell edward what he's just seen he doesn't even bech the town doctor instead. He runs all the way home. Which if you think about it makes a lot of sense. I mean first of all andy is eleven. He's just a kid he's probably never seen a dead body before and either way he's terrified and secondly like i said andy is black. He's likely aware of the prejudices facing black people especially in a rural county like greenbrier and especially during this time. It's definitely possible. That andy ran home to his mother because he was afraid that he might get blamed for zone as death. Andy tells his mom. Mrs jones what he saw and she instantly knows they have to tackle this head on. They must inform edward so she takes andy to the smoothie and helps explain exactly what happened immediately. Edward sprint home to check on his wife and the worry people back at the blacksmith's forge send out a call for the town's only corner. A man named dr nap when dr nap arrives at the shoe farm. He doesn't find zona in the dining room instead. Both edward and zone us corpse are upstairs in the master bedroom. And the minute he enters. Dr nap sees this bazaar scene. Edward is on the bed with zone. His body he is clutching her in his arms and sobbing. But that's not even the weird part zone dressed in this stiff high necked gown and there's a large scarf tied around her neck that completely clashes with her outfit which might seem like a weird thing to be pointing out but it was noticed because zona was better dresser than this and sure enough. Edward explained that he has just dressed his wife in these clothes. He says the dress and scarf were zone as favorite and he wants her to be wearing them when she laid to rest now victorian custom at the time does dictate that a dead woman's relatives dress her for the funeral. But it's supposed to be a female relative. Who does it still. Dr nap seems to kind of just right. The whole thing off as edwards way of grieving. What's more strange. Is that edwards. Crying seems to escalate every time that doctor nap tries to jones body especially when he tries to take a look at her neck eventually. Dr nap just gives up. Trying to examine her he puts zone cause of death as everlasting faint. Which is how doctors referred to heart attacks back then and okay the fact. Dr nap doesn't try harder to inspect zone. His body is wildly clearly. Edward is acting weird and most people would want an autopsy to know why their loved one died. But no one seems to call dr nap out on this at any rate edward. Strange behavior only escalates during zone. As funeral he stationed himself by the coffin and refuses to let anyone else come close..

"Right. I'll take that backhanded compliment all day long you're on thin ice my friend I can't believe I gave you Kazoo sh- bless their hearts. Oh okay. No now are moving on we're working. Here's the deal many of the people in town maybe not all twelve jury members but many people the town believed Easter story she seemed sincere. She did not seem as though she had some sort of alterior mood to murder her own daughter She certainly wasn't getting money out of this and to be honest harassment's didn't really do himself. Any favors when he took the stand he was just kinda like rambling like a crazy guy who accidentally walked onto the Ted talk stage he was saying stuff to the jury like like interrupting the lawyers and say. Look into my face and then you tell me if I'm guilty, which is the worst thing to say yes. Especially like a super guilty look do that'd be like look away from my veins but pay me no mind you know. It's it's very interesting scene not to mention this didn't really come up. This is just my two cents. You know this was an elderly lady and these were the types of injuries that were clearly inflicted by hand by very strong hands like animalistic. -Ly strong hands perhaps the hands of trout. Trout don't have hands, but a guy with a nickname trout does yet, and because the jury had no hard evidence to consider just circumstantial stuff. Then of course, what appears to be the testimony of a woman who received information from ghost. They're left. We kind of feel out the VIBE. You know what I mean gone with their guts and this guy makes terrible first impression on them. The. So the judge said, you know there's no middle ground for the jury to take the verdict inevitably and logically must be for murder in the first degree or for an acquittal no other choices no manslaughter nothing like that. The jury deliberates but they don't go twelve angry men style. There are only deliberating for maybe an hour and change. It took them that long what did they find? Well, I mean, yeah, they they they convicted the guy I. Mean I just can't imagine what else they would have done when presented with especially such unsympathetic testimony from the man himself look at my face look trail mate. Exists. A face, the face of a child of God right hit no. No. Yeah but they sentenced him to life and it turns out. That's exactly what they took a as they say in the Shawshank redemption only in this case, it means that he died pretty quickly in prison of an UN determined malady But as we know in the time the spring of nineteen hundred something we can relate to there were quite a few epidemics running around measles and ammonia were absolutely ripping through this particular prison, the Mounds Ville State Prison and he had no one. To come and claim his body, and this is all from actually the the official website of Greenbrier West Virginia, and so now a question, the very halloway any question for everyone in the crowd true believers and sceptics alike, was it a ghostly visitation or was it simply mother's intuition that uncovered the murderer Mary? Jane hastier lived long after Trout atmos- has passed away. She lived until nineteen sixteen. She never changed her story about Elvas Ghost. Maybe it was her story that swayed the jury and won the case. Maybe. It wasn't. And as they say in a great mental floss article about this, maybe her daughter did speak to her from beyond the grave maybe it was all a Mary. Jane's head or maybe just maybe she had arrived at the information through mundane means and chose to frame it in this in this other worldly lie. To get more like is audit to get more attention but no matter what is she did not have the ghost story she would not have gone to the prosecutor and the prosecutor never would've put those pieces together and It's quite possible that shoe would have been on. Spouse number four pretty soon, the shoe would have been on the other spouse. Never, never mind I was just the shoe on the other foot. Forget it forget I. Work. Thank you. Thank you so much and so that's essentially the end of you know the main part of the story, but it actually becomes a little bit more of a legend I I love the idea of the legends Zona makes me think of the legend of Zelda of course but it's mainly referred to in folklore and the the Laura I guess of the area of Appalachia as the greenbrier ghost and it has taken on sort of a life of its own over the years. It's told on a lot of like ghost tours which we know well, even around here in Atlanta. In more haunted rural type places like new. Orleans. You might think of but there is actually a West Virginia microbrewery named zone `as revenge which is It's in her honor and is device be. Very nice. Very drinkable summary kind of beer. If you haven't had a vice beer I, highly recommend and Ben. No, you're a fan of this Geno Pearson. The comic appears on an episode of Drunk History, and then tells the the drunk version of the story and it has been adapted into quite a few stage plays. There's even a musical which I want WanNa hear all about the greenbrier ghost, the musical Britain by somebody named Clayton Zombie, which is fabulous name from. You. Know. Music and lyrics by example, and it was apparently there's a you can. You can read about it on new play exchange dot ORG. But it did seem to capture people's imagination. I'm surprised that we haven't seen it as a podcast. Yeah I mean I guess you know we are doing it as a podcast like a spooky Halloween fiction podcasts like thirteen days of Halloween from my radio featuring the original works have been bowling and a slew of other incredible writers, most of which are from right here in the Atlanta area. Made by our very own ride or die compatriots Matt. Frederick and the one and only Alex Williams who composed this This bay in track will don't worry Alex I. Know You listen to this show entirely for the part where we thank you at the end, we'll make sure to do I'm pretty sure newhouse might be haunted. What makes you say that the furniture is levitating in the ghost welcome home? Yeah that's that's spooky. You know what's really scaring. Missing out on Geico for help with homeowners and renters. Insurance GYCO makes it easy to see a bunch. Great. You're not sticking around. The bar is just getting started. Happy guy go we'd call today and see how easy homeowners and renters insurance can be. Tennys Sandgren on rocking and rolling onward
"Alright tennis sang welcome to the podcast today I'm doing well Nina. Thank you. We're here at the greenbrier in West. Virginia, how has your experience been so far with World Team? Tennis? It's been great. To. Get Out of the House and. Compete play tennis. Due to. Be Around People to a degree, which is nice and Enjoy playing cordon being the team environment does it feel unusual on strange naturally playing back to back to back matches with some kind of level of consistency in Structure Yeah remembering. What it's like to feel hurt. After like three or four or five days playing in Rhode some of the older injuries. Sovi stuff that POPs up. STARTS POPPING UP. It's like Oh. Yeah. I remember you were. been there in the last few months but you're back it's nice to see you again. Sore accuser sore shoulder there you're Let's Kinda just more familiar than not. It's nice. Guy. Getting a rhythm actually played. Feel like you're finding feet. Tennis in pretty good as far and having some kind of level of structure of like you know the next two weeks or three weeks of the season. You're you're playing tennis and it's going to count for something right? Right EXAC, which feels familiar versus. You've got two or three weeks, two or three months ahead of you and you're like I don't know what I'm doing just practice. I guess you know it's it's it's nice to have that sort of structure that hasn't been the case thus law when the shutdown happened, where were Indian Wells or at home, and how did you react to it because initially I know for me I didn't think it was going to be very long. I was I was in malls Things started cancelling and. I thought that things we're GONNA get cancer for a little while immediately. So frustrated reminds like tournaments going on per usual. no. Definitely not. So it's Kinda Bizarre I. Don't think anybody really knew how to plan. The deal is GONNA be knowledge. Really I don't think anybody who's alive is this who have pandemic thus far On New with people Handled it well, I thought about buying a bike and biking home from. from California crossed my mind. Actually I, I have nothing to do for the next. Two months. I knew it like within the first day of cancelling I'm like, what am I gonNa do for the next forever. So I thought about doing that night I didn't because that would have been crazy for me. Would you put your bags? Ship them. By call. And vicompte. Do, you bike a lot normal life. Okay Just silently confronting the try. But you can try all kinds of stuff knowing at that point you're you only played it knows me four months but did you try anything else? Knew that was different for you that maybe is out of character when you're usually on tour grinding. Now try anything different to be honest. I just got better at drums a little bit and let stop the smallest margin veteran drums and basically stay the same everything else you deflect tunes until. I could go to sleep wake up and do the same days. Did you feel any like like about like when you're GonNa get back or did you kind of enjoy having a of a break? I would not use the word enjoy Also having Zayed's Elon we're back she's like. Oh, just feeling filling days. It's difficult because you can't plan anything. You can't be like why can't play tennis but I'M GONNA go do. XYZ and. have another purpose in life to go do something. Purpose nothing to really accomplish. During the fact that everything shutdown. Now do. and. Maybe get a glimpse of would be like to retire just like like sixty retired like K now.
Patrick Mouratoglou and Andrea Leand
"Everyone John Worth I'm here is this with sports illustrated tennis podcast. Sweet. We have two guests, I. We talk with Patrick Rata Glue who of course wears many hats in tennis keeps the Tennis Miller's busy. He's a broadcaster he's a coach. He's a promoter Today we talked to him in two capacities. We talk about the the ultimate tennis showdown that he ran over the past several weeks. This was an attempt by Patrick to speed up tennis, make it faster younger draw a new audience. We talk about what worked what didn't we spoke with him in June and he invited us sort of wouldn't he said we'll do a reassessment when we're done and see what we did well, and what we need to work on, and so we took him up on that so. A conversation about the UTSA ultimate showdown, and then we talk about Serena. Williams. Patrick of course has coached Serena for almost a decade now, and we talk about where she is what she'll need to do to Win that elusive twenty-fourth major He is about to leave niece for Lexington Kentucky from the south of France to the land, of Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul but Patrick. is going to meet up with Serena and couture in Lexington on her way to the US. Open to we talk a lot about Serena Williams how she's handling pressure, which he needs to do differently if she were to get to the final and her sort of general disposition during during the Cova crisis. So good conversation that we talked with Andrea Leeann Andras a former top fifteen player. A commentator she also wants did a brief stint as an agent She was at the Greenbrier for the final of World Team Tennessee other day she was sitting courtside. So we talk a bit about tennis and a bit about what the US Open is going to look like under this sort of quasi bubble configuration. So good to good conversation sort of looking back but also looking forward. So let's get started in the south of France with Patrick. So we spoke a few months ago before. Before your events began and we said we would we would check in and you were open to suggestion and you sort of you wanted to hear how this went. So you you tell me first. Grade yourself what what work well. Most of it. I to to see the reality of something you've you've imagined is is amazing. It's an incredible feeling. And it was it was really impressive to see those those great champions play. As. I mean something that was difficult to imagine like play formats. So different from tennis. The accepting to be in such in this comfort zone at the start because it's very different it's very stressful. Is Very difficult in terms of physical because you don't have a lot of time between the much less so he can't recover well. You're so much more stress. To see them go through all that. In a completely new environment All the things that go is the software we had to give up this machine we had to develop for the JEREM buyers day so. I mean. The whole feeling for me was just incredible. To be completely honest, you you you sound to me like you you've written a screenplay and then you've you've actually seen it performed as as a movie. Perfect who put it What did you think first of all, what what did you think of the level play I mean this this was a different environment for the players. They were also coming off along break. What did you think of quality of Tennessee? I think at the start of Utsa one level was really so-so. After a few weekends decided to play well. the one birds for example, who on your gs? One I think is level the first two weekends was wow. Was Far from very far and then. He took off and then he started to play a some of his best tennis I think. Why he won and the level of I think for UTA. Finals. Men and women I. Think the level was really good. I think it was very good tennis. That's I really enjoyed so much watching.
Interview With Sam Querrey And Eric Hutchinson
"Jon Wertheim here, and it's this week's. Illustrated Tennis podcast, we have two guests this week, a bonus guest in mainstream tennis player guest I. Am Query joins us. He is at the Greenbrier in West Virginia where he was laying world team tennis, and then as he will explain, is ready to embark on a full season starting in August, and we talked to him about what it's been like in the tennis bubble what his plans are for the rest of the season and sort of what the impact of this crazy and cratered year has been on a on a player of his status, his age. then. We have Eric Hutchinson. He's been on the show before Eric is a friend of big. Band of tennis and we talk a bit about what it's like to be a solo performer solar artists in the time of Cova probably not dissimilar to being a singles player. Eric has a new album class of one, thousand, nine, hundred, Eighty, eight. So we talk a bit about the process a bit about this sort of enforced break that we are all on. What the overlaps between music and tennis. All right now and some tennis chatter with a big tennis fan. So Sam Corey versed Haircut Simpson's second. Let's start in. West. Virginia. You're. In the bubble. I am. Tennis bubble. Let's let's start the president as a been. IT'S BEEN AWESOME You know for me I hadn't told a match in. Australian Open because my wife had a baby in February also I mean it's been five months. So I was excited to go I think all the players here are are really loving it and it's fine and we're finally back plans some competition and it's been great i. mean the I've never I don't know if you've ever been here. I. Know I haven't most you'll have in, but the resort is awesome So it is a bubble but at the same time you can there's golf fishing a bunch of restaurants you can go. You know skeet shooting eighteen. So you're you don't feel like you're just you're playing tennis and going back to your room. There's so much to do outside tennis, which is really made it fun for everyone because we are here for for three full weeks. And it's great to be back in absolute competition and. Going to court I mean it's going great so far. Some sounds like summer camp widsom competitive tennis thrown in. That's exactly what it feels like especially 'cause you're you're in the mountains that it's got a very, very much camp field. We're we're only doing this audio. I have to say you're your backdrop is tremendous. It looks like I mean you can kind of see like. Beautiful. No it's. It's this part of the I've never been here like I said it's I mean we went ATV and a few days ago, and you go up in the mountains in the views and. I. Spectacular. Doesn't sound like a bad way to spend July. What's been the? What about sort of the training, the nutrition, the hydration everything that comes with competitive playing how have you been able to deal with? With that. I, mean for me personally that's been that's been tough. The last like months to find the motivation for practice knowing or not knowing when we're GONNA. Start. You know you're kind of always like like apprenticed for like, wow not studying for I'll just as the next day and then I do the next day. So you know the last two months I haven't practicing hard but there's there's a practice shape and there's match shape. It's hard to really get back into your match shape until you play match. So. I'm doing the best. I can I've got Christian Cossio who travels with me as like a physio here with me. So we've been in the gym every day and working on my body. So physically actually feel fine because you know the team that I'm on I'm only playing singles every day. So I've literally got a thirty minute sets of five. And that's all the tennis I'm playing. So off days and even some matchdays I'm finding the other guys have updates in in an extra and extra practice and spending time in the gym and trying to make the most of it won't here. What's the level play? Overall? It's been high I. Mean I've played tennis twenty years because of the incentives this year online means finals, winters, It's intense. The teams are into it i. mean every you really feel like everyone's kind of laying it out there and It's made it better. You know I it's fun of the past but these incentives, I, it's it's up the level and there's a few more come on. There's a the teams kind of gathering around over a little bit more. So it's it's been really fun and I hope they continue to do is incentives can. Stays at this level. Yeah. I mean I was GONNA. Say, this is an interesting. You're a world team tennis veteran. This is unlike any other season you've had you just. League can. Use this crazy. This crazy three weeks as a springboard. I hope. So I. Mean Look at Fred Leading Eric Davidson behind it and they love tennis and You know they seem to have the financial backing to help move it forward in a good direction and Like the nave because of what happened, I mean the level and the talent they have this year is like no other year they've had world tanks. See this type of caliber players for a full season. So hopefully I mean I everyone that plays this year know especially those top players are GonNa say oh. My God this has been fun like this has been a great. Few weeks of practice, it's fun to be on a team and hopefully for the years moving forward, they're going to those top players GonNa WanNa do it again. Give, give us your your like top top four players of the season. If you're writing in your MVP, votes would be Gosh I would have to look at kind of like the the win loss record. you know Bethany Matic Santa's up there because she's just it seems like every mixed doubles in every doubles cheese. You know winning most of those. Sets. closers was up there until she got her she was just on fire. So I'm still GONNA put closers in the mix and then. Not so I'M GONNA try to I'm trying to think of a guy that's. been somewhat dominant. I can't tell I. Don't know I would need to look at like. He's been winning losing.
World TeamTennis CEO Carlos Silva
"Jon Wertheim here. Sports illustrated tennis podcast. Let us start by pausing for a second of silence to acknowledge that this ought to be the second week of Wimbledon one of the great pinnacles of the tennis calendar. We'll have to wait till next year, but meanwhile we have a good podcast this week. Our guest is Carlos, Silva Carlos as the CEO of World Team Tennis, which has perhaps you know we'll have a twenty twenty season a little bit different, but there will be a series of sixty three matches from July twelfth to August first at the greenbrier. The resort in West Virginia where all the players and all the teams will effectively be bubbled This is tennis's version of. Of what we're seeing, the NBA and this is a a prelude of sorts to the twenty twenty us open but world team. Tennis persists Carlos. Talks about where how and when you can see the matches, but they will be televised on a variety of networks and platforms, and World Team tennis stalwart in the sports since the early seventies will persist, so we talk with Carl's about world team tennis about staging an event amid corona where his league fits into this crazy mosaic, we call tennis and his experience with the sport as well as a former player so good conversation with a guy I've known for for a while. Here's Carlos Silva. Doing Oria I'm good I'm good. Things are good. Where are you? Where are we getting you? I'm in I live in Potomac outside of DC our. Okay so you're you're not far from. The greenbrier of these things go yet now I've been. I've been a few times over the last of the last few weeks, so yeah, it's like it's like three and a half hours from Dallas. All right, so you can, you can You can drive that. So! Yeah, let's start there I feel like. Talking about TV shows like a succession or Ozark but tell us about season forty five. What are we expecting a year? So. I mean as you know we. We have nine teams in season forty five. We had a new expansion team in Chicago there. Unfortunately, not comply in Chicago. Sloan Stevens is anchoring that team along with her coach out Murray. and. And so yeah, we're bringing everybody. We looked at a lot of different states John in Texas Florida. Nevada California, but But West? Virginia felt good It still feels good in the grand scheme of things was based on everything. That's happening, so we're out. We're bringing all night teams the Greenbrier, but we're GONNA. Play a complete season, and so the season will still be fourteen regular season, seven home and seven away. If you will, which will really only consists of. You, know whatever jersey, they're wearing that day home or away. On one court right at the writing a great low stadium that the Greenbrier Scott. I was GONNA. Say I. Commend You on a not picking Florida California. Texas Arizona, you. you picked well. I guess I think other sports are going to be looking at this as a real sort of. Canary in the coalmine to use the West Virginia and. Nobody I think whether it's dope, it or whether it's the Orlando in this NBA bubble. Do you feel pressured to sort of do this? Right for world team, but also I. Suspect a lot of other sports. Outlets are going to be looking at this. Yes we feel pressure? I mean in an I. Think you're right I. Don't think it's just tennis. I think it's sport. You know all of us. I mean the one thing you may have found it to John. I've found that over the last three months. Everyone's been very collegial in. In a weather we're on white. House calls whether we were all together. I mean I talked to Jay Monahan you know about a month ago before before their season started because they were GonNa go to tech says, and he gave me some great feedback on what they were doing with testing, and so yeah, we do we. We're We're trying to be very diligent and we're also trying every day to make sure that what we're doing. We're still analyzing it every. Every day, no as I told my team and we've told the players you know until August second when someone raises the King Trophy we gotta be diligent every day, so we've. We've even made a few adjustments as you know we're. We're going to have five up to five hundred fans in the stadium right halls, twenty, five hundred, and originally those fans were only required to have a temperature check, but about five days ago before everything a little bit. A little crazy over last five days we decided that we would add masks in for the fans as well and so all all. All the fans will also have mass in the stadium. And you know with the way we thought about that as you can always take the masks down at feel better, but better to be a little safer so Yeah, there's there's definitely a low pressure. I think we're up forward and I think we're going to show everyone how how we can be safe and be. Operationally smart every day. It's a five hundred fans as of today is the number you're working with. It is yeah. Yeah, and what? We got I don't know if you've ever been to that stadium, but it's a great little Horseshoe Horseshoe stadium around the court with a lower bowl at an upper bowl, and so the you'll either by a lower bowl, general admission, ticket or bowl, general admission ticket, and then every other rose blocked, and then the Oscars will social distance. Distance when you come into the stadium, so if you came John with your family, you'd be able to sit with your family. But if I came with my family, we'd sit together but I wouldn't be able to sit next to your family. We'd be six feet away and so and so that that works and we'd. We'd all at mass in the in the stance.
Christina McHale on stretching her comfort zone
"Everyone welcome for tennis. Dot Com podcast I'm your host Nina Pantic joined by my co host Irena. Falconi Hey, guys. How's it going? Our special guests is wgn. Pro, Christina McHale Christina Welcome. Thank. You guys so much for having me. We'd like to start with figuring out where in the world you are during this quarantine season, so tell us where you're at. So you always was been in Atlanta for the past two months. literally right after Indian Wells. That got cancelled I was like okay. Where am I going to go, so I went home for a couple days and then my sister was like. Why don't you come for a week? And literally just kept extending extending extending, and so we've been having a good time. Did you. Take your tennis rackets when you went down there. You know good thing I did because. Cracks debating it when I was home I was like. Is. It's just a week. Literally Bring Miranda is rumor sneakers. Now what? Y'All just let me just throw them on with me on the plane and thankfully. It's come in handy. What's been the hardest part for you? I think maybe it's probably the fact that the return keep sitting a stint extended, but what's been the biggest challenge? I think the biggest challenge has been just not knowing when we're GONNA. Come back, I think. You know normally we have. Something in mind that we're training for. We have a day I mean thankfully I. Do have World Team Tennis coming up and it looks like it's going to happen, so that has been able to help me figure out a time line just in terms of the toward the uncertainty of not knowing is is tough. So usually you talked to two different kinds of people in my opinion during this quarantine time you have the people that are like Oh my God. It's just a virus like it's no big deal. Totally be fine, and they have the other side of it. It's just like Oh, my Gosh! I can't be near people. I can't like Swat side. So where do you fall in that spectrum? I would say I'm somewhere in the middle I think definitely at the beginning of the quarantine I was like Oh. My God like. Don't we cannot leave if I want to go to the grocery store things like that and then slowly been getting more used to doing things especially here in Georgia things. Have you know we're one of the first states to open up so technically I? mean. We could go sit down at a restaurant. which we haven't done yet. I've been playing some tennis and stuff with my sister and Ryan but yeah slowly getting is funny like these things were all completely normal analogies. The thought of like sitting and eating at a restaurant is like scary, so. It feels crazy to think that you couldn't go to a restaurant or a bar or even tennis court, but you're getting some practice in and you have your sister. Luckily Lauren around and you have Ryan Harrison as you're hitting partner, right? Yeah. I'm pretty lucky to be quarantined with them because I've been. Able to hit with my sister Ann with Ryan sometimes, and then with my sister specially have been making her. Do all my work with me to keep me motivated. She's like ready for a comeback the tour she said. That she was ever really on the Torma she says she's ready to to make her debut. Yeah, I was actually talking about that with travel today. Just how just having someone there to kind of be there to kind of suffer with you throughout the workout just makes it easier, but that's awesome that you're going to be able to play world team, not everyone. Has that luxury I mean here. We have some exhibition kind of style tournaments that are going on, but yeah. I'm on the spectrum of I. Do not want to play those events. Just because there's no physios, you know there's a lot of stuff that you're just not. Not, really sure about so the fact that you're going to play world team tennis I mean it's something to look forward to Are you like excited to get back? Yeah, I'm really excited. And they just announced that it's going to be all in one place in West Virginia, the greenbrier resort, which I've heard really good things about sizing. That's great that rock and have to travel to several different cities. Once we get there. We'll stay there and yeah. I'm really excited because it's been like over two months since I last played a competitive match with like that environment is so fun, and like you're on a team, so it's. Serious because everyone wants to win, but at the same time you know you can enjoy with your teammates. I think it'll be a good like ease back into things. You've played world team tennis before pastor. Normal Times you, the aviators you played for the nearest empire played for the castles Segovia playing for this summer. I'm playing for the San. Diego aviators who I filled in for them four matches last year, and Ryan's actually on that team. So that'll be fun, we. Were teammates last year as well for four matches sell. Yeah, his letter pressure to cause isolated full season two years ago. and. You want to win so much for your team. Obviously, you guys playing college. Tennis would know that it's the different sort of. Pressure but I'm looking forward to it.

"That was actually the sun was out that day too so I think it it just depends on more than just the temperature. Just be if it's wet in forty five don't do it. You don't have to do that. There's a question for Mike. PICTON says does this Solheim Change Sally's view that the Ryder Cup should be an annual thing this was so good into dilute it with the Ryder Cup being played close to do it would not be good or would it amp up the Ryder Cup. I think I'm on an island here. That radical should be every year anyways but one hundred percent very much every other year. I'm probably somewhere in the middle. I would probably today if you're asking me. I would lean more towards every two. I do like how this alternates with. I think that's cool. That's cool trade off yeah I just. I don't know I really like I like not not having it's Outta sight Outta mind when it's not there. I think we mentioned this either. We mentioned on the Commissioner for a day pot but it a mixed event feels like it needs to happen. That was my takeaway. Today was like God how like all these women are so freaking good that like if you WanNa talk about like bringing more eyeballs to women's golf and like helping lift up women's golf like doing some sort of mix event where you're having Dustin Johnson like bringing is to women's golf. Essentially I don't know I think that would be so freaking cool. If you replace the President's Cup with like six men six women versus like a world team. That would be awesome so good. I mean I would assume the women would play the women and the men play them in a room. You don't want to stagger tease and try to figure out how to cross. I felt like he could play football with women paying different. T- that would be sweet. You know like Charlie good plane. Yeah that'd be awesome. Yeah Yeah that makes a rag on the presence. We do that every opportunity we get but like there's just no rest of the world except Europe. There's no natural troll rivalry there I am. I really honestly looking forward to watching role Melbourne. They did an awesome job with the time of day. Those matches are going to be played. It's actually GONNA be Primetime. I'm here in the. US is going to be incredible golf course and that part is GonNa be interesting but I honestly don't care like if the US wins or loses. I think that's an issue because I couldn't care more about that in the Ryder Cup or really even if you're a US fan. I think you want us to lose. One of these actually needs something right presents a couple things it differently for the better the way out better yeah yeah exactly the way that they draw teams like the way that they they legitimately. I think sometimes they televise it but a lot of times they have to do it like Wal matches still still on the course but they'll like bring the cap into the team room or into the interview room and they'll they'll do a whole like going out. I is Justin Thomas and then the international gather and figure you got who they want to put out and so yeah they there's a couple of small things that they do differently. It's just not I don't know it's not enough to literally forgot about today. When I was tweet like Solheim Cup ended and I was like thinking about team golf and I was like man okay so I guess what's next like the Olympics like Oh that's kind of interesting tweet something and someone's like oh thrown shade at the Presidents Cup. I was Ooh faulk now. Is the Olympics even teen golf individual but it's like. It's still really good. Take come on but it's still l. I mean you're still playing or like you still have a flag next year name and you're still on the team and I agree. It's not I'm trying to be positive here. There's there's a they could do it differently and I think like that was one of the things that if you were watching today and you don't think that like the Olympics will be better as long as a team event like. I don't really get what your your your goal is. Yeah the Olympic Committee their opinion was basically a if you wanna be in the Olympics we are going to compete the way that at the top level level of your sport you compete with a four round stroke play tournament it was not going to be a team novelty of some kind so among the PGA tour scheduled. Did I totally missed this this. They renamed the Palm Springs Event the American Express. I think that just happened this week. Whoa that yeah finally long live the desert classic. It's not going to be sponsored by that. that warlord from the Philippines sick Jason Jason Grant wants to know why Chevy can't find a hat that fits. I gotTA weirdly shaped head. I'M GONNA I'M GONNA sit this one out. I really thought this was going to be a lab for you that he's a special helmet to protect from. Cte Brooks gift. I really thought it was Patrick. Fluids says when was the last time you paid for off off Thursday Thursday. I paid for Wednesday Thursday and Friday last week. So where is that. Where did you play now that we're talking about it. If you WANNA WANNA if you WANNA discuss it amid a little trip up to Philadelphia last week to play Marian on Wednesday and then made my first ever trip which is also my first time there but also me and my first ever trip to the valley of Pines Pine Valley Golf Club clemens slash. Would you guys were way more excited about. Did you go to Clemson spot. We did not we drove by. We drove around it and took a bunch of pictures for for you. Guys really is a thrill to send those home to the boys shot at the DC exactly but no that was I mean it's whatever it's the number one ranked club in the world and I didn't. I was pretty blind on it. I've seen pictures of it and every all the pictures. I've seen them like. It sounds like a really really hard he shot. Where do you land it. I'm sure in person when you get there. It's a little more friendly. It is not it is absolutely not it is the hardest golf course ever played played. We played it twice but we got rained out last three holes so I didn't get to port. We played the back tees version. We didn't get to post the number and I wanted to see what it's kind of like a USO. What would you shoot. US The open. I was on my way to shooting like no better than eighty three and we got rained out but when you texted us about I thought for sure you're gonNA say yeah like the the caddy pulled me off a couple of the it's quite the opposite. It was kind of like expected. You guys finish out like I want to see like what what happens here. This is supposed to be the hardest golf course in the world and it's the Kennedys are amazing finding your Gulf oil and I put them in some tough spots ally and they did not lose a single one fairway's wide but they're wide like from the up up. Tea's like you go all the way back and I was going to tour events and look I don't I don't fairway's wide up there but from so far back with the way a dispersion cone goes like that is not wide enough for my swing and once you stand over a few of those new hit a few wayward ones those fairways get smaller and smaller and smaller and I hit some of the worst golf shots. What's I've ever hit. It was honestly embarrassing at times but it was it was I felt like I missed out on the golf course because I hit it so bad but we you'd try to do it at the end of the game. People tried to play. There's like what's the worst hole in like you argue over what the worst hole is because you can't pick one out and I had mentioned number six two says e B or something so do. I can't believe you didn't like number six. No no no I didn't. I didn't like it just came for me I was I don't know I you hear about what it's like to play at Augusta and everyone just says it's not a good hang like you are walking on eggshells the whole time and and you're a borrowed and you're just like in. Pine Valley is strict on like. Don't talk on your phone like that's like the rule and the rest is honesty when once you walked in the gate. It felt like it felt like you remember. I mean fell to the table. Yeah the table see to it was just you felt. I felt so comfortable the whole time. We got to stay in the clubhouse house which was just sick but the whole everyone there treats you like you're a member and the way the members approach. I guess I never really thought of it this way but the members don't really play with other than events it is expected that you bring three guests in that you stay on property and you play multiple rounds and like it and I was fortunate to be invited by a member and he his his attitude was like my I get a thrill out of taking people out here and showing them this place and experiencing it and that just really impressed me. It is of course a very exclusive of club. It was shocking to me in the way they described. This is a Golfer's club for play like not. It's not like you have to be a single digit handicap to get in but it's kind of like this is for people ah like dedicated themselves to the game and you know WanNa bring golfers here that are going to appreciate it and that was kind of their whole attitude and it was phenomenal is great. They have a short course. Is there absolutely blew. My mind shadows at the false the flaws. I guess claims he didn't move any dirt to do this. They have there's ten whole says his style eight of them are replicas of shots. You'll see on the golf course on the main golf course and they're nearly indistinguishable. I don't know if they like laser the Greens and the exact same but we've got to play it and play the short. Course I get out to like thirteen. I'm like dude. I've hit this shot four. This is absolutely insane and it was like the trickiest thing it's spread at our crosses huge acreage and back in these woods. I Guess Pines if you will and it was staggering I couldn't believe it so got dressed did the whole Lca coat and tie in dinner and all that and it was I will say about the course..

"You know go out and do big things in year. Two looking for guys like Adam Scott Langley anyways is luck. There's on our message board the refuge there is I believe they Fedex Cup version of the game that you can play if you're looking for some guy problem with that one because everybody got unfettered access to the every single player there should have been some sort of tier system or salary cap or something like that with the Commissioner. I don't even know the commissioner is there isn't maybe there's there's no commissioner. That's part of the issue. It's early in season just worth noting that had five or six guys finished in the top twenty five this week but that's incredibly impressive. I had all well. I think all six of my guys missed the cut. which is the toughest thing it's also incredibly impressive which I was stunned to see? I don't pay that much attention this on a week in week. Al Basis how much money who's up for grabs grabs we one point three five to the winter and all the way through nineteenth place made six figures in ninth place finish was. It's like two hundred nineteen thousand dollars this so that's the kind of stuff that these korn ferry graduates are playing for now that they've never played for ever in their lives said before. It's like even if you you know even if you go finish one hundred fiftieth on the money list like you're gonNA make seven hundred grand or something like that you know. Six hundred grand endorsements are worth whereas headaches number one on the Korn ferry moneyless probably made like five fifty this year something like that Scott Harrington. He finished t twenty four this week. I think pretty sure he made more money in this week than he did. Last season on the Korn ferry tour yeah so it's like getting money is Jim Justice just floating all this money this week. It's the military budget. It's coming straight on the DOD military's again to write off for the charity Raytheon you know for Blackwater. Let's move on a couple of other things catch up on driver testing is now entered the PGA tour. I don't think we have a lot of details really on how that's going to be done or conducted. It sounded like they were pretty from what I read about it. Thanks to Jay Wall. They're I'm doing it in conjunction with the equipment manufacturers. which sounds like it's like the right thing to do because it's going to be you know it's kind of on them like they're taking some of the onus off the players more on the on the equipment manufacturers but I don't know if they were a little scandal detail? I think from what we've heard too. You'RE GONNA test drivers. I WANNA look at the three woods to. It's interesting that they're only. GonNa test drivers but just taken. I just take a look. It seems that from us it seems interesting saying this might not be a causation correlation thing like maybe this has been in the works for a while but coming off of the British open the open championship Cambridge whatever you prefer presented by seeing how quickly they got this turned around on the PGA tour. It's like when you put your mind to so you can flip these things around pretty fast. Whenever whenever you seem to be interested I don't know if that extends to things like pay play or any of the other myriad out of things that people like to complain about but looking into their policy that was another one. That's like well actually. I wouldn't say that that won't happen. Fast people writing about that for about thirty years one could say the where there's a will. There's a J. That's maybe a good segue yeah exactly. I got a chance to play with the Commissioner of the PGA Tour Mr Jay Monahan yesterday in a charity event. TC SAWGRASS don't have a ton to report from it other than we had a great time and we're hoping to have him on the podcast here a a lot of things are in flux currently with PGA tour particularly with television contracts topic we are obviously quite passionate about and I think once once the dust settles on on that we're looking to potentially have him back on the podcast to discuss a number of issues including television future the PGA Tour Golf and whatnot but the future of live under par yes future future of live under par transit especially keen on that one and as critical as we are the PGA tour that there wasn't really an at least on his behalf. There wasn't really an issue with the things we say or do I think he values feedback a lot and at least a certain level kind of gave us still a seat at the table which I think can be more than some of the other departments into the PGA tour do so it was actually pretty interesting. Play around a golf them pick his brain on a lot of things and hopefully hopefully some changes here in the coming months on and the future feature of how golf is presented on television so there's that character Latimer in the program. He has actually the program twenty years ago. He's obsessed asquith. Sit at the table. The table seat at the table so I'll tweeted out agrees it but he's like he finally cracks starting lineup the tool they voted yesterday houses game. I think that's the league ninety degree day playing without a glove. I was triggered. Good shots like I hated. I if I don't have the proper glove on a humid day. We saw what happened while. Gulf one had to go the ring glove. A grip is really bad but he swings it really well. I mean I know he plays a decent amount of golf prize not as much as you'd like to but he plays off five. He'd be a good partner as a five he doesn't miss.. He doesn't really miss shots. He didn't take it too deep but he is very very consistent. I think I saw something on twitter. Have a chance to discuss trends infrastructure yes yes. I'd sent him the commissioner for a day podcast. He's going to listen to it but I did give him a spoiler on the idea of connecting the intercoastal to the new route they would even take less. I swear to God she's asking for a proposal for people who haven't listened to the Commissioner for day podcast. We'll explain. I'll leave that to this this this is he's the lead architect on this project. Well yeah basically WANNA connect the it's kind of in conjunction with Randy's plan to put a hot tub in the middle of the Seventeenth Green Green Sawgrass. I think a lot of misinformation out there that said that I wanted to connect to the ocean I wanted to connect to the intercoastal waterway connect what the water at sixteen seventeen in eighteen I want to connect those so you can bring boats and yachts and Jet Ski Watercraft Lark out in there and then there should also be a lazy river over on thirteen gene sick. That'd be sweep but yeah so just just a lot a lot of stuff in that vein. There's a lot of idea sharing and that was the one that perked him up. Maybe the most so hot tub idea he was in the middle of Seventeen Greenie wasn't as keen on because he had just hit it right in the middle of the year and that's true that's true we wanted to rose and I told him the garbage swings I try to make them nervous before hitting the shot on seventeen but he just left the right in the middle the green so there were some rumors alignment eight on sixteen that was intentional actually put they wanted to stir up some plant the coors light there too that was my course lied excellent guy he. He probably answering to all sorts of folks on that. I did not intend attended that we were he was he did not drink. During the round. The rest of our foursome was was leading a few fly into it was a great event golf fights cancer. It was a great day. I was stunned to get the invite to do it and hopefully some progress towards repairing the relationship between noling up in the PGA tour so next time we're coming out the Jacksonville yes yes we hopefully this is kind of part of the relationship continues this doesn't people that are thought this buys curries favour buys favor for the PGA tour. Don't do not know us well enough. We did not back down on really the any of the issues that we believe in or maybe that I personally believe in and we I gave him gave him kind of the what I think a lot of things and he agreed to summon disagreed with some so it was a nice discourse if you will you should've you should have seen how much money you could get for home at home to set up that that match Jack Speech who have lost your bargaining power now that you already went to his in his place his place Pablo Creek. That's true yeah but season yeah so does that. It was fun all right so this is the first event of the fall schedule. The new fall schedule a lot more events and things like thirteen total events this fall. I love it. I think it gives the guys that are fresh off the korn-ferry tour. I think it gives them. Ample opportunity. I needed kind of stay in the groove. Is there's more events before the reshuffle this year is that correct. I think so I went to smarten on this and he didn't he couldn't yeah yeah the reshuffle just exemptions and all that stuff like feels like not a blackbox like I would be very transparent if you ask. It's very Byzantine yeah. It's just like yeah. I don't even know what questions to ask. How like how the hell this system works either way. I think it's it's just you know. It seems like they play a wide variety of courses this week next week. Safeway even like they're not bombers paradises like anybody can contend Jackson. I think it is I think it's pretty came. Champ one decimated people like Houston moving into the fall Zo. I'm super curious about that. One is he still got your kind of upper echelon events Bermudez in the fall now. It's a new event. Cj Cup and it was when your face it just feels like the events that are now opposite football or the events that should be upset football and that's what I was gonNA say. It feels very kind of in a good way. It feels like you can kind of check in check out like if you if you WANNA watch it if it's a captivating leaderboard if there's he's a good young players that you watch like they're going to get a chance to to shine like we're seeing you know this week with a lot of those new korn-ferry guys that you guys mentioned earlier but if you want to check out and you want to go to a football game or you want to go play golf or you know enjoy the fall or whatever it doesn't feel like you're missing all that much either so it's kind of it's kind of a cool balance and and I kinda I I'm actually super excited for the fall a lot of it's probably Fred ex-cop and like a lot of these young guys like getting a bunch of starts and trying to reshuffle up and like I think that stuff's always pretty captivating to Sickos like us but I get more excited for this stretch than I do like late summer. You know a lot of those. Kinda like dog dog days of summer events where everything has been you haven't had a week off in like almost a year and I'm ready for the fall. I just feel like there's there's more of a variety of of courses and you're getting new faces and I think it's incumbent upon the TORDA. I think they know they need to do this a little bit better but to kind of tell the story these new guys a little bit more so they're not just faceless guys as soon as they pop up on a leaderboard on the west coast swing right. Why don't we to a few questions here and then we can get close to wrapping this up. We'll barred. Bard will ask with fall approaching.

"The top is coaching. Absolutely I believe in this coach. You know way more than this guy I mean. The Patriots are probably a bad exemple because they're just so good all over the place but at the end of the day if you if you got that way you ain't going against O'Brien. I mean should that be worth two the coaches who've had and the other one drives me nuts that I think is a flawed deal. Yeah is run a run. Stop the run things things we always say that g generic things coach always say we were great all three phases of the offense defense special teams no one puts ten seconds of work into special special teams that should be factored into a wagering like if a team isn't the top five in the NFL on special teams there. There's there's always ten and teams at the end of you know they get their twelve yards. Punt return and you know they're special. Teams are terrific. I mean they're winning field position battle. That's a big factor does does anybody say oh yeah. I re- I really liked you know PEMEX because they're really good on special teams no but you over the course of the season especially teams. It's probably the difference three or four games yeah. That's an excellent point because because everybody in the NFL moves the ball at this point in time I mean I it just. It's a quarterback driven league. Everybody moves to football but if you're going eighty five yards words every drive instead of you know sixty five or seventy yards every drive that does make a difference. I completely agree with you. It's special teams definitely something. We need to focused on a lot more here and again. I mean that's that's a coaching thing you know. Some coaches really care about special teams some coaches kind of put it on the back burner and by the end of the a year you know you know even those teams that do play pretty well in special teams and it does have an impact. You're absolutely correct so a very excellent point. I did some buddy. I bet you go you know the top five defense or other in the top five in the league and takeaways if the but the thing is there's a difference the league takeaways you know if you break that down a decrease the those turnovers in their own red zone. You know okay great good deepens. They're they're turning those turnovers preventing field goals or they're preventing points but if if that team is in the top up ten in takeaways and they're the top five in special teams those turnovers they're creating a short field automatic points and nobody talks about special missile teams all right so let's see if we have any special teams or any additional thoughts here for a couple of games. I wanted to talk about with you including the Thursday night game here Tampa Bay and Carolina Carolina six and a half point favorite here in this one total on this game in the fifty range of course we saw Tampa Bay's total go up a little a bit here in week one against San Francisco and that was not an offensive showcase for either team but you know this short. We came Brian and we do you know you get back into under the floor of playing the starters actually play a full game all of a sudden you gotta turn around and play a quick division match up on Thursday. Yeah this one buddy a ah the tough one for me. I I thought Tampa Bay was a was a good play on Sunday and honestly it was their own inept left the cost of that game. If by the way areas made you know he's a hero of the works but they're down six third quarter that gives a penalty makes it goals to the maternity left kick the field goal. He goes forth. They don't get it then they get a turnover. They were already in that game would have been tied had he kicked a field goal then Tampa later back in their own in need the touchdown in Winston. Throw them one of the worst past. Ask History of football. you know the Tampa Bay game that game away I mean the niners stole a football game. You know so that Tampa thing I I don't know what you do there and Carolina's competitive. You know there's there's some good players there but basically it's McCaffrey and keithly you know they do everything for this team. They're gonNA have their weeks where words but you get. The right. Coach takes one one of those guys away away and I. I don't Know Carolina is sketchy. I don't I don't like the game at all that Tampa going on the road on the Thursday night games. Honestly we enjoy those the Monday night doubleheader wouldn't the Monday night doubleheader be better and scrapped Thursday night games and then these teams get literally one day the preparation for these Thursday night games yeah. I think that's much better call. I I think the players association like that too because the players have never liked this Thursday night game I mean they always complain about it week. One Week two week fourteen it doesn't matter they complain about this Thursday night game and I can't blame them. I mean the lack of recovery every time you play on Monday night. You still get you know most of the week. At least you play on Thursday night. You get very little time. I completely agree. We should just have a Monday night doubleheader double header and and scratch the Thursday game as far as this one goes in particular. I mean maybe this one's a teaser candidate for you Carolina. You bring them down to about a pick. Em teased. He's the total up because Tampa Bay's defense didn't play pretty well last week. Carolina's defense not so much but Tampa Bay is not the Los Angeles Rams as we all know so maybe a six point teaser Carolina down virtually pick them move the total up to fifty five and a half hope. It's a lower scoring game with the quick turnaround but that's the thing I mean early on here in the NFL season. All of these teams are kind of trying to find their ways especially with what we saw in the preseason so you're laying big numbers. I think especially in the short week game is a little bit dangerous but again you have Tampa Bay with a new coaching staff. So you know maybe the short we favors Carolina with more continuity. I don't know I agree with you. I think it's a little bit of a tough game. Maybe some stronger thoughts here on the colts and titans game to sixty one to sixty two first game on the board by rotation order on Sunday Tennessee a three point favorite with extra juice off of that blowout win over Cleveland. I the one thing I'd say generically about week. Two and I don't know if we did this. Specifically on this podcast days and things are all running together on me but week two and week seventeen are the most bizarre weeds in the NFL because everybody saw last week. Oh man okay. They're great. They're gonNA come in. They'RE GONNA kill this team but team circle the wagons because if you go to eighty seven percent of the time you missed the playoffs so the teams that lost the first game of the year literally are to play this game like a playoff game. We know that number and so don't go overboard. We saw the colts you know played their hearts so did a terry. Let them down but you talk about travel you know at the end of the world travels things now that big a deal but Tennessee they had all summer listening to all this Cleveland Heights then we must have talked about this one hundred times in the summer Tennessee the fiscal football team. You don't know what you're going to get one day to the next but I think breakable knows what he's doing. They were sick of hearing about Cleveland if they wanted to go in there and punch them in the mouth. You're like like really we're secure. Cleveland Tennessee gets the big win. They come home. Homeowners should be all jacked and life is rosy but he doesn't want to go to and Tennessee conceivably sitting in the letdown spot. Yeah I mean there's I look at this game. I think I kind of like Indianapolis at the outset I know no they went to overtime and the teams that off of an overtime game. Do not do well the following week. I Imagine Ralph and our next. It probably has that in front of him. I don't would have it in front of me right now. We'll get it here at some point. Throughout the course of the show you know teams that go to overtime generally. Don't do well the following week the thing that concerns me about Tennessee. You know you look at there are offensive performance in that game against the browns. They ran the football for four and a half yards per carry. That's solid that's good enough. They didn't have too many chunk place at three rushes of ten on yards or more but you'll get them in the passing game one fifty one yard play a seventy five yard scamper for Derrick Henry. I'm worried about this. Team's ability to sustain offensive drives another new offense coordinator this year for Tennessee. I think I'm probably GONNA be on Indianapolis if I can find a hook. I'll be pretty thrilled to get it but I think indy can move the football both ways. I don't believe that about Tennessee. I think he needs defense is better than they played last week as well so. I actually have a little bit of a stronger stronger opinions in this game looking at the dog oh I and I concur with that. I maybe I'd have a slightly into the under two that they moved the ball between the twenties. I don't want you there. I mean don't forget Tennessee. Game changed died on a two yard hats and Derrick Henry run seventy five yards one play and the whole thing blew. WHOA I I just WANNA throw one one goofy thing out there and I could be a complete fool for saying this but don't forget last year and I you know we know about Baltimore and they win in the free season well well. The other thing is last year harbaugh. The bills ended up with the second best defense in the League. Yeah Peterman was playing. Turn the ball over bucks. If it weren't for the opening game the bills had the number one defense in the league and they came out and had a great game against the jets again. Baltimore beat the bills forty seven seven to three last year and then went and lost the next week to Cincinnati so Baltimore did the same thing to Miami and all we're talking about is how rotten and terrific cryptic Miami's tanking and this and that I don't know what it is about horrible. They dial up for that opening game but I just I wonder if apply and he's not as horrific as we think because Baltimore did the same damn thing last year and it's weak ones goofy week coups goofy yeah. That's an excellent point. Of course you've got Miami in week. Two Miami is eighteen and a half or nineteen point underdog which is absolutely remark doc went home. No less Arizona going to Baltimore. Getting almost two touchdowns total shot up in that game. That's kind of an interesting one here to where again maybe you do have some of that overreaction with those two big double digit dogs. I do WANNA spend a few minutes here on the Gulf side of things with you Brian not a lot of big names zero at the greenbrier classic this is I believe it's White Sulphur Springs West Virginia by the way there is a sportsbook there for anybody who is heading up to this one but this this is they very I mean this tournament being in September is kind of weird not a long break for the start of the wraparound schedule Bryson Shambo your favorite twelve to one Victor Hobson was great last season fourteen to one justin coke.
