Tell you what, dick, the beltway is looking better and better through Montgomery county and prince George's county Chris George's Cali was never affected at speed most of the afternoon through prince George's county but Montgomery county at one point was very heavy, especially on the northwest side through Potomac. And that's it. No more. The volume we had on the auto loop is just about gone from old Georgetown road toward the cabin John Parkway and then off and on toward the legion bridge, so we're coast to now, and we still have volume on the antelope from after route three 55 toward Connecticut avenue, and that's it. No change with the volume on the envelope, Virginia side still slow, just on the short stretch from after Georgetown pike to the legion bridge, so the beltway is looking better and better as we speak. Maryland and I two 70 no problems there, 95 doing well on the Maryland side, PW Parkway had some weekend volume, little blow speed, both ways inside the beltway through hydesville and outside the beltway to parts of greenbelt and Laurel. Well, thank you to collars for clearing it up, Baltimore Washington Parkway headed north. We were slow leaving the bellway in greenbelt. The problem is before powder mill, we've got one broken down in that far left lane. South, Baltimore Washington Parkway, a little heavy at one 75, then just some volume, 32 ride running down toward Laurel. We're looking better on 70, headed in the eastbound direction in Howard county out of west friendship after route 32 and earlier crash cleared, as did the delay. Now just a little heavy as you pass 40 it going out toward 29, getting off of I 70 rolling southbound on 29 sounds like a crash down near route 40. We'll check out see if we can get some lane information two 70s looking good at a Frederick run in south, but you will slow right at the lane divide, going down the spur to get on to the outer loop. Out on the bay bridge, 50 westbound. Got the red X lit over the left lane that's going to be two way preparation. We'll see if they're going to do any work on the eastbound span or if we'll go three lanes eastbound two lanes west, but for now, two lanes these two lanes west, the left lane blocked on the westbound span with two way preparation. Got a little update from Maryland and our crash activity in green bell Greenville police telling us now that the crash eastbound on greenbelt road near the entrance to green bell park, single vehicle crash, and apparently the vehicle hit a power pole that power pole now leaning out over the roadway. Pep goes there to make racines, but for the moment, we make repairs, I should say, on the scene, but you can not get past that point, all eastbound traffic on route one 93 green belt road is being diverted at kenilworth avenue to get by. The rest of the Maryland roadways fairly quiet 50 across the bay bridge two way traffic on the eastbound band passing without delay. And the district, the crash was inbound on just on I 66 after the Roosevelt bridge on the ramp of the E street expressway with caution. In Virginia, lots of work. Odd outer loop of the capitol beltway, there had been work setting up bad for Leesburg pike over on the right side, the ramp from the outer loop to go west on 66, it's a single lane out of the two you normally get to make that transition, continuing outer loop of the beltway that works on between the little river turnpike and Braddock road is two right lanes to get by at last report according to the caller and then outer loop. After the Springfield interchange, before the point where you split off for the through lanes or the local lanes on the beltway, two left lanes are blocked by that work. On the inner loop, the work was going to be after the dulles toll road heading towards Georgetown pike with two right lanes getting by. On 95, northbound work after the centerport Parkway sluggishly, we get by to the left, south bounders after route one is Pennsylvania where the left lane blocked there. 66, the westbound work inside the beltway near the dulles connector road has blocked a left lane outside the beltway. It's single right after the after exit 57 for route 50 pharaohs all the way to the fairfax county Parkway to get past that work zone. So if you're on the beltway, either direction passing near the green belt metro station, stay to the right. You'll see flashing lights and a lot of equipment coming both ways. Now that's it for the Maryland side of the beltway. Our big story has been and continues to be a crash investigation on the inner loop in Virginia jammed out of tysons as you roll past Georgetown pike exit 44. It's just past the exit, single file to the left is getting by and that becomes the breakaway point for Virginia. We are going to go back into Maryland because our listeners on I 70 have also kept us updated. They have not moved on. I 70 as you're heading eastbound out of new markets, 75 year last chance. Any traffic beyond that point is still stopped the crash is right near the truck scales. They landed on both sides of the roadway. Rosetta Stone Eruption Could Help Explain Solar Explosions
"Dramatic molly staged eruption on the sun as revealed new clues. That could upside is solved. The long standing mystery of what causes the sun's powerful and unpredictable explosions a report in the astrophysical journal letters claims and covering this fundamental physics could hope scientists better predict the eruptions which caused dangerous base weather events on earth. The Big Story
Forest vs. Highway: The Eternal Canadian Battle
"You explain them. Exactly what the conservatives are trying to do and how it would impact the green belt so the conservatives in ontario want to do. Is they want to build this highway. Which is about sixty kilometers The idea is that it would kick starts which they say we need given the economic fallout of covid nineteen and that it would also like help with those congestion issues. We're talking about the problem. Is the route runs through the greenbelt and it runs through a lot of other protected areas as well. we're talking like wetlands endangered species habitat in you know in the light of twenty twenty one. I think people people have questions about whether that's the best thing to do the other reason. This is controversial because this project was actually shelved by the previous liberal government. They studied this thing for years and years and years. What they found is that it would probably save drivers on average like less than a minute. It would also cost at least six billion dollars. That's like a low estimate and that it could have a really really difficult impact on the environment so when the progressive conservative survived. This idea which they did in twenty teen there was. There was a bit of you i think. Tell me about that. Pushback i mean for people outside of ontario And maybe even outside of toronto in the green belt area. Maybe they don't understand how bitter this fight has been better is a really good word for it. So at first the conservatives revived this idea in two thousand eighteen. Soon after they're elected they also kind of save. They want to review the environmental assessment for the highway which is like a boring word but the environmental assessment is really important because that lets the government see what the impact on the environment is going to be and it will also help them mitigate any issues so they announced that they want to streamline that and possibly start working on some early things like new bridges before that assessment is even done. There's a bit of immediate pushback from environmentalists. But it's also quiet. I wrote about it a little bit last year in the summer when the government finally announced the final route but even then it was really just environmentalists. Who were upset about it. I think The communities along route were probably supportive of that. There wasn't really a broad public pushback and then in early twenty twenty one something just clicked and it's hard to put a finger on exactly what it was

A Big Dose Of Perspective With Jack Kornfield
"Jack. Great to see you and thank you for coming Great pleasure thank you. Dan also for having me. It's time when we. I think we need to all come together and use our best wisdom and understanding of how to navigate. I completely agree and so let me. Just start with your mind. What are you doing to stay even in your own mind. Of course i meditate some but more importantly arrested in place that has a lot of spaciousness in it and a kind of trust. I'm old enough at age. Seventy five to have seen revolutions. Common go and difficulties arise in pass. Have and i also see that. There's i guess it was martin. Luther king talked about the moral arc of the universe being long but advance toward justice. I see that there's ways that systems also regulate themselves so whether it's the pandemic that we are in the throes of that is really causing enormous amount of suffering and loss whether it's the political disruptions in the capital and otherwise were just the calls for racial and economic justice that we needed for so long. I feel we're in a evolutionary process with its fits and starts. And i think about people like one gary mata who won the nobel prize for the greenbelt in east africa. She started by planning one to ten. Twenty fifty trees got other people to do. It eventually was thrown in prison on. I think that's a requirement for nobel peace laureates mostly And ended up planning fifty one million trees in changing a lot of the face to be africa or or or ellen sirleaf in manga bowie also nobel prize winners who said their country. Liberia used to be known for its child. Soldiers in had these terrible civil wars and now it's known for its women leaders and so there is some way in which just as the green sprouts come up through the cement in the sidewalk. There's something about life in. it's also the human heart that wants to renew itself. And so i rest back in kind and loving awareness to say yes. Let me turn my gaze away from the from the needs suffering the things to respond but also to hold it in a much bigger context justice. I agree that universe in the world is breathing. And that's how i keep my mind on a good day not the mean. There are bad days a bad moments but mostly my heart is pretty peaceful but you know there are things. I get a call from my daughter. Dad you know. This terrible thing is happening. At the nonprofit she runs for getting asylum for all people whose lives are endangered. What do i do our calls from dear friends. Oh my family has covid. So i'm deeply touched by these things and responding. Sometimes they really affect me. And i can feel the pain of it. You know or give worried but with all of that. There's a rounded a field of loving awareness of spaciousness entrust. That gives a much bigger picture and there. I'm just going on back away trying to answer your question and also spread out a little bit. When i was a monk training in the forest monasteries in southeast asia as a buddhist monk the main forest temple i lived was in a province adjoining. Both laos in cambodia was during the war in vietnam and laos cambodia. So we would see fighter jets going overhead and bombers and you know in some of the branch monasteries you could even see flashes from the from the bombs and people would come visit us. I had friends who were working in. Vietnam laos people that i knew as i had been working on medical teams in that ray calm river valley saying what are you doing sitting on your you know. There's a war to stop. There's things we need to do and my teacher would say. This is the place where we stop the war.
