That's after stronger than expected PMI data had traders reversing course on their fed bet pivot bets. Minutes from the Central Bank's last decision are out later today. Goldman's chief global equity strategist Peter Oppenheimer told Bloomberg U.S. equities are now far less attractive. You're getting quite a high return in competing assets with much less risk. So overall, the biggest market in the world we're looking at a flat return. We've been preferring non U.S. markets for quite some time. We still do. But even there, the absolute returns we think are going to be relatively modest. Goldman's Peter Oppenheimer speaking exclusively to Bloomberg. President Joe Biden has hit back a Vladimir Putin saying that Russia can never win his war in Ukraine. Speaking in the Polish capital Warsaw hours after the Russian president blamed the west for the conflict, Biden said the war could only have one winner. A dictator got not rebuilding an empire, will never be able to ease the people's love of liberty, brutality will never grind down the will of the free, and Ukraine. Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia, never. But unemployment we are still saying will be really quite strong relative to history will increase into 2024, but still be around 5% just over 5%. So it's what I would characterize as a mild recession is what we're predicting. The Lloyd CEO also unveiled a final dividend of 1.6 pence per share. Meanwhile, Microsoft says any move to carve off popular franchises would be game over for its $69 billion deal to buy Activision, antitrust regulators had suggested that the software giant may need to sell Call of Duty to allow market competition. Microsoft president Brad Smith told Bloomberg that regulators around the world have a clear choice. We don't see a viable path to sell off the part of this company Activision Blizzard that makes Call of Duty. Given that, I think that the alternative is really quite clear, either the deal gets blocked, or it gets approved with guardrails with regulatory controls. Smith steel is Microsoft's largest ever and one of the 30 biggest acquisitions of all time, the EU, U.S., and UK have all started procedures that could potentially block the deal. In New York, Charlie pellet, Bloomberg, daybreak, Europe. There's a few of our top stories this morning, some issues for the UK, so surprisingly positive it would seem in the economic data, but looking forward some major challenges. In terms of the planning regulations, apparently that is the thing that's held back building in the UK. I mean, we know this, but it's the extent of the issues that have been laid bare in the latest reporting on Bloomberg and also that the House of lords committee looking at climate change and the upgrade to people's boiler systems in their homes says that the governments again plan on this is just falling far short. You know what, every other day Carolina see a story in the UK newspapers I won't name which about wood burners when I was speaking about green laws. I know that you have strong views on them. It seems like a campaign by the UK newspaper editors. But to get rid of them. Yeah. Yeah, but that's because they're massively polluting. Not all of them, not the necessarily the new ones. But also you mentioned these planning laws holding back house building. It's a fabulous story on the terminal by Bloomberg's Louise moon. I have to say, I wrote a story about this back in the day about the sight lines in London that protect views of St. Paul's and other landmarks from way off from parks all around Richmond park Greenwich park, and in those sightlines you could have lots and lots of homes. Yeah, absolutely. We are building more high rise apartment blocks in London than we have done in previous decades, but it has not solved that horrendous housing issue that the capitol has. Those are a couple of the stories that we're watching on the blue beach terminal this morning are just of interest, I think, specifically for anyone in the UK, but we have to think about what is happening later on this morning, which is the Federal Reserve and the minutes from the last meeting that is front and center for markets, of course. We've seen a renewed surge in treasury yields, traders increasingly concerned about the fed. Really being nowhere near wrapping up the war against inflation alone pivoting. For more, let's speak to our markets reporter Valerie taitao. What should we be watching out for then in the fed minutes? It really goes back to what we heard from mister and bullard yesterday, the non voters came out and told us that they advocated for a 50 basis point move in January. And you have to think about, you know, going into that January meeting, we had a string of soft data, soft CPI data, soft economic data, and to hear from the hawks I should say that they were still campaigning for a 50, that just begs the question, have they convinced others to possibly vote for a re acceleration to 50 in the March meeting. Now the meeting in March, it's march 22nd. We still got a ways to go till then, but that's what the market is nervous about. We mentioned all that eco data that we've had since the last decision Jerome pearl has insisted that the fed's decisions are dependent as do other Central Bank leaders. But the data has been strong, how quickly could it shift the fed's thinking? The thing that's worrisome is if the

"Totally forgot about it. Three weeks after the Super Bowl, I opened my account and realized that I had bet on the rams to win the Super Bowl. And so that was a nice surprise. And so I didn't bet as much this year as I'm sure I will next year. But everything I did was coming out of profit. So that was a nice little surprise last year in March to find out. Do you still have money in that account? I do, yes. Good. All right guys, this is the reunion show of the gambling podcast that was so successful that the sportsbooks just asked us to not do it anymore. Too many people just seasons did we do? We did 20 19 and 20 and 21. Is that right? Yeah, I think we came back like halfway through 2020. If I remember correctly. Okay. So regular listeners on this feed should know who we are. We've done this before. I get approached all the time by people asking what happened to the gambling podcast. My family, sometimes once. Okay, so we actually, we did this show last year with Mitch. We're going to go through the prop bets. It's a little bit silly. You can take our advice if you want to go out and just cash in millions. But mostly we're just going to, I don't know, kind of mess around, talk about some of these prop pets. I think we're each going to do four, and I will not assign first slot to one of you. So when you can just raise your hands and start going? I bet you go first. All right. I'll go first. And we should say these are out of the west gate props bet packet, which I have had some brand loyalty to this packet for many years at this point. It's actually funny. This needs to be like my favorite thing of the whole year was looking at their packet and all the crazy things they have. And now so many people just do the parlays every single week, people on Twitter are posting their like 8 way parlays that it's sort of, it almost feels like it's lost a little luster because we see so many of these bets all the time. But I still love it. They do a good job as do many other places. So first one, I was thinking about AJ Brown and, you know, this has been a story people have followed. He has 50 yards total in the first two games. And you remember that scene in the Giants game and the divisional round where the team was up big and he was still unhappy on the sideline like he wanted on the ball more than they sort of blew it off afterwards said it wasn't a big deal and he's like, you know, I always want the ball. So two weeks ago, I'm at the eagles niners game. And it was the most predictable thing in the world. I said they were going to throw to AJ Brown on the very first play of the game because they want to keep him happy get him involved. First play from scrimmage, 6 yards to AJ Brown. I think it was the second drive, you remember they had that go ball from Jalen hurts where he had him, but he missed him. But I think once again, they were going to look to get AJ Brown involved early in the game. Keep him happy. So looking at all of the age group bets, they've got like total receptions over 5 and a half. I like that, but I don't think it's worth it for like minus one 40. They've got, will he score a touchdown at all? Plus one 40. First half touchdown plus 300, but first touchdown, which I know is now like a popular thing people that all the time. But first touchdown, he is ten to one. And I like that because again, I think early in the game, they want him involved. They want him feeling good. They want him into the game. You could do first eagles touchdown at 5 to one, which takes into account that it's like 50 50 who starts with the ball and the chiefs get it first. They could go right down and score touchdown themselves. But for the value, I also, when we're talking profits, I don't like doing a lot of the bets where it's like, yes or no, minus one ten on each side. Like, I think we're doing Super Bowl props. Like, let's go after big paydays. Look for value. So AJ Brown tend to want the players ahead of him. Kelsey 7 one hurts a 7 one miles Sanders is 8 to one and then at ten to one he's tied with Isaiah Pacheco. So I like it. AJ Brown tend to want to score the first touchdown of the game. All right. Yeah, like you said, first touchdown has become so popular. I know so many people do it. I don't know. I just don't love that bet. And I sort of get caught up in because you could do first touchdown or any time touchdown. And then, of course, I feel like if I bet any time touchdown, then they score the first touchdown, then I think I'm an idiot, and I hate myself. I'm gonna go with the first one I saw here that I liked. Is over two and a half rushing yards. For Patrick Mahomes first rushing attempt. I think with two weeks off the ankle's gonna be a little better. Still don't expect him to be a 100%, but obviously two weeks is a nice layoff to get the ankle a little bit better. If he's gonna take off, if he's on a bum ankle and he's gonna take off. You would imagine he's doing it when there's a lot of space in front of him. He's not gonna take a chance to further injure his ankle to get a yard or two. And the fact that it's just two and a half and he could move around a little bit. It's minus one ten, but I think if he goes, I think he's going for more than two and a half on that. Now it's the first rushing attempt, so you've got to pay attention. But that's the one I like right out of the gate. Yeah, and I don't know if they necessarily want to put in an in position to do any QB sneaking or anything like that. So you're probably not going to have the cheap half yard gain. I don't think the chiefs are going to do any of the butt pushing fun. I agree. Absolutely. I agree. And one thing that helps you hear the eagles obviously everyone knows about the eagles defensive line and the sacks. So if they're coming to get them and he's got to avoid his sack and take off, you hope he gets three yards in Europe winner. Yeah, I was thinking about the same thing and also the QB snakes. And I like your bet here, Jimmy, but I was also thinking about one of those plays where he's like scrambling and goes to the outside and it's one where it's like almost a sack, but he gets back to the line of scrimmage and they give him like a zero yard brush or a one yard rush. There are ways this could go south. But I like it. I think that's a good bet. Thanks. So I'm kind of obsessed with Boston Scott now, specifically after that touchdown running out last week, because I love it for a number of reasons. The one he had against forty-niners, if you watch the replay, no one realizes he has the ball until so late because he's so tiny and you know Jalen hurts if he wears one of those hand warmers can just carry Boston Scott in his pocket and then pop them out and give him the ball if he wants to. The other thing that kind of comes up to me here is the forty-niners have just incredible linebackers. Fred Warner and Dre greenlaw are great. But green law specifically, he's like a 6 foot linebacker. He's going to have some vision issues and that's how Boston Scott end up popping off that touchdown last week. The chief top linebackers Nick Bolton. He's another 6 foot linebacker. I think it's going to be something of a Boston Scott day. I don't think he's going to carry 25 times, but I think they're going to find some spots for him because I think it's going to be very, very difficult for chiefs linebackers to locate him. When they do that misdirection stuff in the backfield. So I kind of wanted to do touchdown, but he scored so many touchdowns. I think he scored in like three games in a row now or something. It's up to plus 500. That's just not really going to do it. But I will go with Boston Scott over 14 and a half rushing yards. That's a straight minus one ten right there. And yeah, I think he ends up getting like, you know, 7 or 8 carries in this game and ends up doing it like 40 yards. You didn't want to take a flyer on the touchdown with that

"You ravel? Is it rabble? Sure. You just rabble. Correct. But yeah, let's just say you rabble. They're going to ravel a game plan around it. Oh my God, is that a word? Are we just tired? Probably not, but let's make it a word. Let's do it today. Well, I Googled ravel and I'm getting Maurice Ravel. He's a French composer. If anyone calls us on it, we'll be like, no, we knew it wasn't a word. We were talking about the French composer, and his ability to put together a composition of music. Nope, nope. I don't know if you heard this. I'm hitting it on dictionary dot com. Ravel ravel. It's an intransitive verb, I knew it. Yeah. So we're good. You can ravel, raveling, yeah. Synonyms would be. To bind fasten, tie, wine, not, entangle. There you go. Yeah, we use it correctly. We got it. Oh man. Good show so far. Can you tell we're running on a collective 6 hours of sleep? Oh, man. So no, I'm glad you brought the Boston Scott one. I couldn't tell on the broadcast if Bosa jumped inside because he's expecting grey green law to basically scrape and be responsible for containing on the outside or it just looked like a lot of conflicted defenders. You gave the specific analysis. I'll give the broad barely considered analysis. A lot of defenders just constantly and conflict in this game. And you can go back to watching keeping an eye on the linebackers. Obviously, such a strength for this forty-niners defense. This was one of Fred Warner's most of his games are really impressive, so it's not really saying that much to say it was one of his worst games of the year because it was still probably pretty good. Drake greenlaw had a rough one, though. And I didn't know if it was a result of that. I also wondered how much of the fact that Boston Scott is 5 foot 6 played into that. Touch Sarah, because once he popped out, it took everyone like a full second to realize he had gotten he had broken contain and gotten out on the edge. But it was, it's funny. It's like, you obsess over Jalen hurts and, you know, his mobility and his threat as a runner. And it constantly puts you in conflict. But it almost felt like the forty-niners were almost like 55 45 more worry about hurts running than the running backs running. And as good as hertz is as a runner like miles Sanders or the head of steam is a much more dangerous runner at that point. And yeah, that's kind of how this one played out. Well, because when you evolve the run pass option into the run pass run option, which the eagles have done and that's sort of their contribution to the football world this year. I think that's what you're doing, right? Is you're just inviting another layer of fear and hesitation for all the defenders that you face. And I'm very, very happy that we get the long week between these games because now we get a fully healthy hurts. We get a, I don't know, you think mahomes can maybe get back to like 80, 85%. I think, and look, I think with hurts his shoulder, I think both quarter of actual probably be somewhere in the 80 to 90% health range. And that's fair. That's fair for everyone. That's as good as we're gonna get at this time of year. The forty-niners, man. There's not even a whole lot to say. They should the league is very reactive. So I'm sure they'll bring back the emergency quarterback at this point because it was. Kind of funny and a little bit of a curiosity when, you know, I don't know if you were hearing this in the press box, but they were kind of like, well, Christian McCaffrey is the emergency quarterback. So are we just gonna see McCaffrey and debo in the backfield and then they'll try to patch them together. That was fun to think about during a commercial break. And then they started doing stuff and it was like, wow, this is awful. It's like the worst pop Warner game and it's so sad that it's these just, you know, overwhelmingly talented guys and they just, they don't have a functional offense anymore. It was like watching the Golden State Warriors, but they can only shoot out to like four feet. And it was just dumb on watchable football and you could plug any sort of as we saw over the course of the year, perhaps baseline competent professional quarterback in there and probably gotten something out of this offense. I think it's a big credit to D'amico Ryan's that this game was close for a long time, you know? This game was close for way longer than it should have to the point where I always thought that they were just going to pop one of these runs and then all of a sudden it was going to be over, you know? And I don't know. I did not have any faith in the eagles being able to punch the gas the way that they did. But, you know, I've obviously been wrong in the past and I was wrong there. But so there was this moment where, right when Josh Johnson started getting evaluated for a concussion, he starts getting evaluated for a concussion. Brock purdy is in the medical tent. I think around that time, Bosa is like limping off the field and then it was almost like it was cinematic, like the sun started setting, like very rapidly and like the sky just turned like very like metallic gray. And I was like, oh my God, this is, this is terrifying. If you were a player, like how do you not think that you're somewhat cursed a little bit, but it was weird. That was his son Reddick hitting Brock purdy, and that was a game changing moment. At the time, we had no idea how serious it was because we're following Brock purdy to the sidelines with the binoculars, and then he throws a little bit, and it looks like he can throw. So you think, okay, back to the game. And we'll check this out. And then all of a sudden, he is standing by himself with no medical personnel. He's completely alone, and nobody's even trying to get him back on the field. And at that moment, you're like, uh oh. That quickly they've identified some sort of a problem where it's beyond the point where they can get him back on the field. And he tried to throw like three or four times, and each time, like Josh Johnson is just rocking the ball, and it's that NFL velocity and Brock purdy's just like, eh, like it's like, oh gosh, you remember rookie of the year? Yeah, we talked about that terrible movie. Yeah. It's a great movie. No, we talked about little big league. Well, we've talked about rookie the year. Yeah. It's the end. It's the end of the movie. It's the pitch that he throws at the end when he loses the strength in his arm and then he flips open the lip of the glove and it's the mom who was a good baseball player. And then she looks at him and she's like, it was me. That whole thing happened with Brock purdy. His mom, the whole thing. On Sunday. But that was like the velocity that we were getting on his throws. And it was so sad that we had to put him back out there for that. And I don't know, so you're anti emergency QB. You're anti

"I would have said, hey, Dre, listen, brother. You're a hell of a dude. You're a great player. Hell of a pick. One hand, you're great. I'm not signing the pick. And what's interesting is, and I don't mean to disrespectfully, I just wouldn't have done it. Yeah, and Tom's gotten so much shit throughout his career because he hasn't shaken hands with some players and Ryan Fitzpatrick called him out this year because he said, you know, and now he has taken pictures and sliding jerseys and bowls. It was interesting. After a flat out asking. And I heard Dre green laws give the he goes, hey, the worst thing he could have said is no. So he's got a good philosophy, yeah? Yeah, I mean, what's he going to say? No, okay. You go back into the locker room and you gave it a shot. He didn't say no. So now he has a memento for the rest of his career. He can show his kids. Listen, potentially the last season, if not one of the last seasons in Tom Brady's career, I picked him off and I got him to sign the ball after the game. So credit to him, I'm just, I don't knock any of the guys for doing it. I personally wouldn't do it, but everyone does their thing. The other thing I wanted to ask you, you were a great tight end for many years. And there's a lot of talk this year about tight ends because of Travis Kelce. Who do you think is the greatest tight end of all time? Well, I said this on a broadcast a couple of weeks ago and people lost their minds, but that's okay. The current trajectory of what Travis has done, I think barring something unforeseen, which I couldn't knock on wood harder because I don't ever want to see anyone let alone a guy who's put a career like this, have something derail it, but the trajectory in which he's on. And people said this four years ago. Can he keep it up? Well, history tells us, if anyone can keep it up, it's him. And if he puts another couple years together like he has, I think Travis goes down as the best. What he's doing, I know Tony kind of sits out there 15,000 yards or whatever it is and that's like a number that to all of us growing up was unfathomable. Like you couldn't even process the idea of having 15,000 yards. Travis has had 7 consecutive 1000 yard seasons.

"It was sort of like a key third down to seal the game where they ran play action. Everyone chase McCaffrey and purdy rolled out and he threw the kittle for like the three yard gain, but he also had, I think it was Tyler Croft. With, I mean, he Tyler Croft could have caught that ball. He was so wide open. He could have run back to the opposite end zone, and then run another hundred yards to score the touchdown. I think, I mean, we'd have to game that out, but yeah, it was workable. And especially workable with what this defense is, which is very good. They essentially gave up one big play and one drive to the hottest offense in football. And it's the linebacker play, man. Yeah, it's the pass rush, but it's the linebacker play. And I think that really was especially problematic for the dolphins and people are gonna put out theories on why to a tongue valuable struggled in this one. Was he jittery taking some hits, was it just an off day? I think a lot of it was, they made him layer throws over the middle of the field instead of just getting to sort of hit those sort of direct laser throw windows. And he struggled with it. And he, you know, a lot of teams are going to struggle with it when you face Fred Warner, especially, but also three green law who just their long guys, they cover a lot of ground in the middle of the field. And I think that's what it ended up being here for the dolphins. Yeah, the one Fred Warner, you're talking about the tip too that he had. That was just supreme athleticism. He's so good. And I think that they can play that game, they can be an antidote to their own offense a little bit better than the dolphins defense canon. I'll be interested to go back and see the blitz stats. Did you get the feeling that they were kind of bringing some heat? And if not heat, like kind of more simulated pressure looks at to it today, it felt like, I don't know, and I could be wrong, it could have been me just like a couple of places stood out, but it seemed like to me that they were trying to speed him up a little bit too. I don't know if the blitz rate was higher than the forty-niners usually have. It probably was slightly higher. I feel like it's more blitzing than the dolphins have seen for the most part, this year, because everyone's just playing for obvious reasons with tyreek hill out there. Emerald just sort of playing terrified. Jalen waddle also was banged up. He played a little bit in this one, but not that many snaps, and he wasn't 100%, but it's, look, we talked on the mid week show about how will the forty-niners handle motion and the game literally started with a complete overreaction to tyreek hill motion that leads to a trencher field, basically a three yard pass that is a 75 yard touchdown, and that's, you know, that's as bad as it could be. Other than that, look, you had a really well called drive I might mcdaniel that opened up the long tyreek hill touchdown. That I think was a little more sustainable if you're a dolphins fan when you look at that, but it was, it was a really rocky day for the offense. You hope it's just one of those days against a really good defense, but there were sort of a sense of what you saw from two a tongue by Lola late the last two seasons where it's just, it's not good enough. Especially with the defense kind of being middling, it's a great system. The receivers were open, he has to hit them. Like he just has to be better than this going forward. Yeah. I agree. I think it's important to mention to some couple of good plays by the player of theme of the QB podcast. He was there today. He showed up, but yeah, I agree with you. I thought they kind of you saw a little bit of the borrowing of sort of the delayed motion coverage, which I think we were talking about with the Patriots earlier in the week where and it didn't work. I think they think they had Jimmy ward on tyreek hill, and they were saying, okay, well, maybe we're going to cover maybe we're not. And that doesn't really work unless you have this certain kind of certain kind of defensive back where you kind of wait to declare that you're the guy that's covering him and then you try to undercut undercut the route and intercept it. But I saw them try that a couple times. It's all interesting. I think this is a really good chess match moment. I mean, it's a huge confidence builder for this forty-niners defense, which, you know, especially before the half, some of the blitzes that they dialed up and both it was just unstoppable today too. I mean, you know, and it's easier to win when you play games like that. Yeah. Broncos ravens. So the ravens outlast the Broncos, they get a late touchdown, Tyler Huntley run here to win ten 9, I don't know if I can bear to talk about this Russell Wilson offense. Any more than we already have this year, but the big news from this one from the big picture standpoint is Lamar Jackson going out with the injury so we're back to Tyler Huntley as we were late last season and to me it's going to be interesting to see how teams defend Tyler Huntley because I think there was something of a honeymoon phase. I do think he's a capable number two quarterback, but there was something on honeymoon phase and it kind of dried up for him as a year went on. And I think if Lamar Jackson is going to miss time and Huntley is going to be the guy, I think there's probably a little more of a book on him and, you know, again, the ravens are very good defensively. Maybe they can win some of these ten 9 type of games, but this, if it's no Lamar, this is just not, it's not a Super Bowl contender. It's curtains on this season, especially with how well the Bengals are playing the browns getting back to Sean and still having a lot of, I think they still have the ravens on their schedule. Yeah, you're just not going to be able to do that. They're passing game isn't sophisticated enough to be able to run like to scheme guys open. You know, so much of it depends on what Lamar is doing in order to draw them open. And you can't replicate that with somebody else. That's like, boy, I'm not going to try to say it again. Remember when I tried to pronounce the guy who is the lead in Hamilton, Lynn? No, now I have a mental block on it. Lin-Manuel Miranda? Lynn Manuel Miranda. It's like when Lin Manuel Miranda is out. And you're trying to run Hamilton. It's not Hamilton. Sorry. No. I know you're a big Hamilton guy, but saw it live and Hartford. It's a good show. It's a nice show. The other sort of big picture. Takeaway here is contract wise. This is a contract year for Lamar Jackson. Were the ravens right to be hesitant to sign to the long-term deal in fear of this kind of scenario with his playing style. It's all kind of ridiculous, but it's also why it's important that he get his long-term deal because it's kind of unfair to ask him to run this offense that is just not, it's just not very good anymore. And it just depends on him making plays with his legs way too often. I don't know what the right answer is, right? Because you're exactly right. You're asking someone to do something very specific and then refusing to pay him for it because the way that you're asking him to do it is too dangerous. You know what I mean? It's like if your parents asked you to clean the house by licking your hands and rubbing the floor and then you kept getting sick and they were like, well, we don't like him 'cause he's sick all the time. It's because he's licking his hands and rubbing the floor, you know? On my parents kicking me out of the house for that? Man. But that's how it is. And I don't know if I've said this all along, so I can't say I've said this all along. I've thought this all along, that they were always going to make the ravens are always going to make this negotiation drawn out and difficult, and I think this makes it way more

"50, Minnesota 6 to one, Tampa plus 7 50. Or Seattle, 17 to one right now to win the NFC. Out of those 5, who are you the most afraid of? On the most of her San Francisco. Sam says goes been there before, right? They've been down this road two times in the last four years. This might be another time for them. So they've been in the playoffs. Defensively. Every time I sit down, I go, okay, who's got the tools to stop this Miami offense, man. Who's got the tool stuff this eagles often, so who's got the tool stuff that's buffalo offense. I go back to an elite four man rush and then a great zone team drop 7. And that's just San Francisco. It's about when they're healthy, you know, the potential to get Drake green law back this season. They have such cohesiveness in the back end and then such a cardinal trait. I was talking about this with shield and Philly special about the ability to have just take over guys in the playoffs. Do you have a unit or an individual who can just win your football game? When you match up, who has to get planned around, we start to get to those really unique bespoke catered game plans in the playoffs. You look at the niners and you find yourself a depot Samuel, a Christian McCaffrey, and Nick Bose and a Fred Warner. It's just takeover, guys. There's such a headache team. So I think they're very well suited defensively to deal with the top offenses that they might find NFC or AFC in the playoffs. And I think they also have the matchup guys on their side of the ball on offense that are such a headache to prepare for on a week by week basis. 9 or scare me the most. What's interesting about that if that was San Francisco Philly is two teams that are way better in the first half, it would be there would be some jacking to see who wants to take the 17 zero lead that the other team can then come back from. I think that Seattle odds are off that 1701 because everyone's kind of penciling in San Francisco to the NFC west title. And they've already had a lot of injuries, they have guys coming back, which would be the case to take them this week, but sometimes I don't know, man, that injury bug can kind of get in the air and it just kind of never stops such a long season. And that team just seems to have bad luck with keeping dudes on the field. Plus they have dudes. Kittle, deebo and McCaffrey. Do you trust those dudes to play ten weeks that are wearing? Much less 13 or whatever they need at this point. I don't. It was the one who, I haven't seen, I don't think we've seen like a 100% fully healthy kittle in years. If you just look at numbers wise, he's just not in the same receiver that he was, blocking wise, he doesn't seem the same to me. Like, he's the one that I think is really falling off by injury. I will say that right now when we go through the niners skill position players and you go, okay, debo scares me in the calf or scares me. And then the next thought is always kittle. The brand and I, you filmed this season, it's been awesome, man. And I was not on IU fan coming out. I thought it was a limited player. I thought it was a one trick pony. I thought the unwillingness and weakness as a blocker was always going to keep him in Shanahan's doghouse. He is a complete wide receiver. It was a very good job running the downfield routes like some of the most a new stuff that used to see in this offense. Kittle, not what it used to be. You watch a UK you see a really dangerous player. So they've got guys in the stables. I have him on a couple teams. He's been good. He's been a couple of really impressive film. A couple more games. Can we skip bears lions? I'm on the Internet. But it seems like everyone's on the bears. I like the bears, but then looking at some of the, some of the money stats. There's like nobody on Detroit. So I'm crossed them up. Brown's my Amy, I don't want to cross off. And I like this one because I think there's a case for both teams and I can see the case against the browns, but I kind of like the browns anyway. Cleveland's DVO is fit flash four weeks. Miami is one of their last 5 games by 19 total. They beat Pittsburgh by 6 just down Detroit by four in Chicago by three and people are like, Miami, look out. It's like, all right, all right, I don't know if I need to look at. I'll look. When I see tyreek spent amazing, you got to it going. Their defense is 27th defensively and Cleveland's pasty is okay. It's 15th, but they finally have Garrett back and they have some of their pieces back at least. Miami's offense is second in DVA. I think I Cleveland, they're three and 5. Gave away the jets game, the game was done. Nick Chubb falls down, that's a win the

"We have to make a 6 yard play like a ten yard play. And I think Christian McCaffrey is the absolute prime example of that. He's been doing that with really crappy offenses for a really long time and it seems like, you know, even an 8 man boxes, he's able to do this. And now, with a little bit more space and I think a little bit more ingenuity, he's turned into quite a weapon and no, he's not gonna throw like 8 more touchdown passes this season, so like what we saw today is not like meaningful in that sense, but I think it is meaningful for them to, I thought this was a big information game, right? Because a lot of teams play the same kind of defenses Raheem Morris does in LA and what you're doing is you're kind of allowing Christian McCaffrey to start giving you information about how a lot of other teams on your schedule are going to play you. And I do think that that was interesting, right? So if I line them up wide if I'm putting them in this kind of motion, if I'm starting them sprinting before the snap, how is everybody going to kind of adjust to that? Are they going to cover him? Are they not going to cover him? And so I actually thought like the halfback pass was like a neat example of not necessarily that it was cool that he could throw the football. That is cool. But just like, how much respect are you going to have in these situations, right? Yep, and this was part of the answer is this is because if you have a Christian McCaffrey, you want to use him as being part of the solution for your office at this point. But also with debo Samuel out in this game, there was a little more of a need for him to do some of this stuff in this rams game, which they got done, the other thing I want to bring up for the forty-niners side is there's probably some hand wringing with this defense a little bit. I know by like halftime of this game, there are some hand rigging with the defense and what's happening here. I do think we underestimate linebackers when they are playing against really good offenses with a really good offensive architects. And the way I hate to say this about the reserve forty-niners linebackers, but the way you can kind of exploit weaker linebackers that we saw the chiefs do last week and we saw Sean mcvay do in the first half of this game. The rams ran, I don't know. If they ran 30 plays in the first half, I feel like 27 of them were some variation of a screenplay. It just kept on doing it. And then they got the touchdown to Cooper Cup, which was they went after or in Burke's. Who's filling in for Dre green law at this point. So Drake greenlaw has been out. I think it's a much different defense when you are missing a starter, but I think especially going up against the chiefs and the rams, that difference is really going to be exploited more than maybe it would be against sort of generic opponent X so I have a gripe on that front because we didn't talk, will you and I talk regularly, but we didn't talk and record it for a podcast after the Buccaneers after the Buccaneers Thursday Night Football loss.

"Got a new hat. There we go. Excellent line read for weyland smithers on that one too. Yeah, this was a lot of issues defensively for the forty-niners in this game, which the chiefs do that to you. They also lost Drake green law when they're fine linebackers in the third quarter. But it really went sideways here, defensively, but offensively, gosh, so many ugly plays still crop up despite all of these just millions of playmakers in this offense. Yeah, so I don't know if you've read what I wrote about Christian McCaffrey at midnight on Thursday when this happened, but needless to say, I was pretty excited. I would imagine that let's say midnight on Thursday back in whatever 2000 BC, I find out I'm writing it on deadline and we find out about the creation of democracy. I think I would be, I think I was nicer to Christian. I was more excited about the Christian McCaffrey trade than I would have been for like a world changing political setup. So yeah, man, I was so excited. But you know what? You and I especially, I feel like I've done so many stories on an outside zone and wide zone, why it works, what it's good about it, and specifically what's good about Kyle Shanahan and I think it was so cool about it was, okay, he's got a tight end that's really a wide receiver in George kittle. He's got Kyle use check because a fullback is really tight end. And then he's got deebo Samuel's a wide receiver who could also be a running back. Now he's got a running back who could be a wide receiver. You could run, you could line that team up in any personnel grouping possible. The defense of coordinator has no anchor. He can't look at what you have on the field and decide what he wants to put in there. You should be a you shouldn't be beating teams. You should be assaulting teams. And granted, it's going to take him a week or two to get in the lineup. He didn't seem like he had a ton of snaps this week. But I mean, you know, I said that this was going to make him Super Bowl contenders and I feel a little silly today. I'm not going to lie. I don't know. So here's the thing, obviously they didn't have Christian McCaffrey up to speed in this one. They had like 72 hours to get him ready for his first game at four 9 uniform. We're going to fire off takes because that's what we are paid just obscene amounts of money to do. But there's not a whole lot to take away. As far as I McCaffrey and his fitness office, and you're right, I mean, defense is based what they're going to do. Their first hint is what kind of personnel you have on the field. The personnel is almost meaningless because like you said, everyone can do everything. Put Robbie gold at left guard. I mean, they can go ahead and do that and get away with it. You know, defensively, a bit of a head scratcher in this one. I would have hoped that this unit fared better against a chiefs offense. I was missing tyreek hill, and missing that sort of game breaking speed element. Just not a good day for them. But the whole approach, it's not exactly the same because the Miami Dolphins just collected so much overwhelming speed. That it's almost like, you know, this is, this is too much. This is too much speed. This is unfair to have this much speed on the field at one time. This is not quite that, but it's in the same vein. It's the overall approach of saying, we can't really do anything about the quarterback right now. We're not going to call the Chargers and get Justin Herbert, although if the charge are going to continue to use Justin Herbert in the way they are right now, maybe they do. I don't know. You're not going to get some sort of game changing quarterback in there right now. So the next best thing, thing is you just surround him with such an embarrassment, such an obscene amount of talent that it can't not work. And you seen it, click fairly well in Miami, small sample size at this point, but in San Francisco, it's still a lot of the same issues, and we know Jimmy Garoppolo is not a guy who's going to play well in second reaction. That's just never been his game. It's never going to be his game, but his decision making and his really like just sort of scattershot accuracy. It's been a deal for, you know, like three seasons now. He just fires high and wide for no particular reason too often. And I like the decisiveness he plays with most of the time. I like the sort of underneath intermediate accuracy, but there's just way too many, you know, you've got like a half dozen a game where it's just like, what is this? What are you doing? Like when I file a column, Gary, right? Half doesn't half dozen a week. Half is a week from Connor. Half dozen a week where Gary's like, what am I doing here? You're like Kyle Shanahan and you're cool ski hat, ski trucker hat. Just sorta regretting some life choices. But, you know, it's weird, right? The brand and Iook is obviously very, very fast. And I guess he's sort of their theoretical burner. And there is a necessary burner that you need that to run this offense. It's part of the ingredient to this. But I feel like where the forty-niners and the dolphins sort of diverged from their philosophies, which is really interesting. Mike mcdaniel is speed speed speed speed. And Kyle Shanahan is sort of like yak yak yak yak yak, you know? And now this is a very yak heavy team, but it's predicated so much on, like you said, the deciphered the decisiveness and the accuracy because not only do you have to get the ball out on time, you have to put it in the right spot to give them room to run. That's how they're going to make up a lot of the deficiencies in this offense. They're going to get yards after the catch. They're going to turn a 6 yard gain into a ten yard gain. That's their whole money making scheme that they have going on there. Who's the infomercial with the guy with the question mark suit? Oh yeah, he had the book. It was for a book. Yes, and it was some sort of scam, right? Oh my God. Well, I can't say for sure, but when it comes on at Comedy Central at three 30 a.m. Matthew lesko. Yes, there you go. Very good. Matthew lesko. Oh, for federal grant funding? Is that what he was doing? Free money. That's what it was called. Yeah. Federal grant, he's still alive, by the way. He got his MBA from American university. He's got two kids.

"They're going to run the football and that is just part of the system. I mean, just look back at the Mike Shanahan years with Denver and Washington. Different guy every year. And even this, you know, even with Kyle, you know four seasons that he's been the head coach. He's he's had four different leading rushers. And guess what? This year there will be 1/5 because I don't think it's don't think the leading Russia at the end of season is going to be Raheem Mostert, and I don't think the leading Russia at the end of season is going to be Jeff Wilson. So you know anybody other than the three guys that are going to be active on Sunday are going to be traced. Sermon ELISA, Malaysia, Mitchell and Michael Hasty. And again, I guess if it's uh if it's Elijah Mitchell stays healthy at this point. I think he's going to be the leading Russia this season, so no, I don't think it changes at all. And at some point help is going to be on the way to you know, they hope to get Mostert back middle of the season. Same thing with Jeff Wilson. They hope to get him back. So, uh, I just I think that the other their formula is with outstanding offensive line when it comes to run blocking in the actual yesterday. They're pretty good impact. Great yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. So with that run, blocking offensive line. It was basically 1/6 offensive lineman it in George Kittle. Now I don't think it changes at all. I think there that the formula stays the same, regardless of who it is that they're handing the ball off to Matt Male Co. Joining us as he does every week here on the Tolbert, Kruger and Brooks Show that nine or offensive line Open up holes in the run game, but Jimmy Garoppolo all sorts of time He had no pressure coming from the ends. He had no pressure coming from up the middle, which is always problematic for any quarterback, and I guess the The formula is, If Garoppolo has a clean pocket to operate in, he's gonna make some throws. He's gonna make some plays. That was the case yesterday. Yeah. I mean, I think that's you know any NFL quarterback That's probably the thing And I think he feeds well off of this formula. I mean, I don't think Jimmy is the kind of guy and we saw him. Do it in 2019, though, against the Saints in particular and It's the Rams and the Seahawks Games later in the season. You know, there were times where they put it on him. You know, Jimmy, go win a football game. I don't think that The standard, though you know, I don't think they do that every week. You know, it's kind of it's a I think they make it easy on him or easier on him because of The running game and just how everything fits together. And you know, the defense has always been strong. The defense yesterday certainly has a lot of room for improvement, but you know, there's there's always this kind of feeling that deal before year's defense is going to be good, so You know the worst thing there. I should say the, um you know, I'm a 3rd and 12. They can do a whole lot worse than drop loads, throwing the ball out of bounds and putting, you know and playing defense and getting the ball back and Going forward again. So, um, no, I think I think Rob Lowe. He's definitely coming off his best offseason, his best training camp. And I think we saw yesterday where he just He looked in control. He looks he looks good. He looks solid. He looked better than solid, so if they can get that kind of performance from him More times than not, or on a weekly basis. You know, he will keep Trey Lance at arm's length, I think throughout this season Maddie. You know, we Warner is incredible and green laws. Incredible. Uh, do do you think Greenlaw is going to go against Philly? And and to me that the big eye opener in this game was just How incredible. Um, as as these out Shakira has become, I mean, he just starts his people and he's so fast. He's so aggressive, but now he really knows the defense. He's playing fast. And he had, you know, I would say three or four impact hits where he separated the ball carrier or the receiver from the football talk a little bit about this linebacking corps. I mean, we all thought they were good, but I mean, if you're going to play like that, This might be the best linebacking corps or at least among them in the game. In just a young group. Two guys who just haven't been in the league all that long. You know the heat his final season in college. He had a CL tear, and it was just Heartbreaking for him because you know he grew up in a very rough situation, the homeless for a period of time, and he kind of saw football as his Skills that was kind of the end game and and he had the terror he would have been probably a mid round draft pick. That year, The 49 ers ended up sending him as a free agent and undrafted rookie. And yet he was on the bubble that first year, But there was I forget who the veteran guy is that they kept him over. But the thinking was that this guy can be a starter in this league, and he can be a starter pretty soon and that my dad already had Green Law and and Fred Warner. So I think what you saw on Sunday was he's now in his third year. He understands his role. He knows that defense and so I think because of him, there's no reason to push it with Greenlaw. Greenland has the groin. So I think there because of because of the guys they have there and Demetrius plan against thousands is a pretty good player as well. Good special teams guy and learning more and more how to play. Uh, linebacker in the NFL after being a safety in college, So I think because of that, um out here has a chance to be this week and every down linebacker right now he's playing that Sam position. Which in today's NFL means you're on the field about a third of the time because when they go with the Nickelback Key. Juan Williams comes in and I'll share it goes out, so I would think that if it's close, and if there's they feel that there's a risk of Greenlaw aggravating that injury and having it become worse..

"Matt Miyoko is joining us on the guest line here on the Colbert Kruger in Brooks Show. Hello, man. How are you? I'm doing well, How's everybody there? We are doing fine. Let's start with the injuries. Are the Niners as As hard as it was to see the red injury and as bad as you feel for him on a human level, but also understanding When healthy how good he is at corner. Are the Niners uniquely qualified to deal with him? Not being there because of what they had with their front seven, especially their down line in the way they can get pressure and you got mostly coming back at some point in the Commodore Lenore. I'd say is, you know is a fairly impressive young guy. It's not optimal that Barrett has torn a C L but is it truly a killer considering how good they are and in other places on the defense? You know, they done some things They just added Dre Kirkpatrick. So, you know you're talking about a guy that started 11 games last year for Arizona, and he's been in the league for quite a while with Cincinnati. Of course. And then last week they brought in Josh Norman, another guy who's played a lot of football, so they brought in to veteran guys. Who did not go to training camp, but our NFL players, and that's something that they haven't really done too much in the past to bring again, especially at that position. Usually all the all the good cornerbacks are taken right this time of year, but they found two guys that We're kind of looking for their opportunities to go to a team that's a contender. Go to a team that maybe had some injury issues and see if they could help them out. Probably also didn't hurt that Nobody likes to take part in training camp, and those guys are able to get paid. You know, basically a full season salary without having to go through training camp. So He talks about Lenore. I've been impressed with him from the beginning. And then they still have Emanuel Mosley. So, you know, manual Mosley is a pretty good player, but he has been an elected me injury they're expecting or at least they're hoping that he'll be able to play. Sunday. So you know when you look at it that way, very it was. You know when he's on the field. He has a really good player, but everybody knows the injury history there. So, uh, I do think that the 49 ers pass rush and their ability to come at you in waves does make it easier on the defensive backs to the cornerbacks in particular. So, yeah. I mean, I think that I think probably the 40. Niners do ask less of their cornerbacks than than a lot of teams in the league, so we'll see how that transpires, but they've also taken a lot of steps here recently to go up there and get some guys that they think in Can cover up. Um you know some of the some of the deficiencies that they might have with their depth guys who are just NFL players, guys who are veterans and guys who could just hold it together because I think that's what they need more than anything. With their corners. It was a really interesting game to watch, you know, almost like two games. Really? But what really stood out to me is that you know, Ford and both the impact that those guys make is incredible. And then the improvement of Al Shakir. And green law to go with Warner. I mean, that is an awesome front seven, potentially, though credit Detroit they had some amazing trap blocks that kind of freed up some inside running. But Matty, I got to ask you about the two. The two guys that I think are intriguing out of this game. One is that you know, nothing is more honest than the inactive active list. And Mitchell and Hasty were up. Sermon was down. Sermon was a third round. Pick Those guys, you know, Hasty wasn't drafted at all. Mitchell was a day three guy. They plug in Mitchell. He has a huge day. Were you surprised that sermon was inactive and then what's going on with Brandon Aiyuk still learning how to be a pro? What define what That means. Yeah, well, the first one is a sermon. It didn't surprise there. Expect should say it did surprise me that he was an active. I wasn't thinking along those lines because he had always been the number two guys. But I hadn't really been impressed by him through training camp and even the preseason games they played. He just I don't know. I mean, it's just the other guys made more splash plays. And so after I saw the inactive list, I was like, Okay, I get it because Elijah Mitchell has really good and Jean Michel Hasty has has shown some stuff so Now the foreigners have to go with sermon because Brahim posters can be out for eight games, at least, um and so sermon will get an opportunity. I still think Elijah Mitchell will be the starting running back as well. He should because I think he proved a lot of things on Sunday by just stepping in and looking the part and I think he fits that running scheme very well. So I mean, just to kind of Dovetail this and I look at that. I mean, they drafted Aaron. Thanks. In the second round, and it turns out that the fifth rounder Jalen Moore is probably at this stage to better offensive lineman different position, of course, but he's better. They take Trey sermon in the third round. And it sure looks to me and the 49 ers. As you said, they're inactive list. The corroborates that they believed that Elijah Mitchell is a better football player right now. They take and Brie Thomas in the third round and the fifth rounder, the Commodore Lynn or better than angry Thomas. So it's It's kind of funny that you know the the three guys that haven't given them a lot or Have been inactive into the cases are are in positions where they took guys later in the draft, and those guys at least initially, anyway. Are better prepared right now to play football. Your other question about brand and I, because that's something I'd heard. Probably about two weeks ago, and I started talking about it on my podcast a little bit. Is that Brandon Aiyuk, It was kind of had a disappointing training camp and You know, there's there's a being a pro is, you know, knowing how to take care of business? How to how to get prepared. How to get your body. Right? How did you everything Away from the field or or, you know, in the trainer training room or whatever. That gets you prepared to play your best football. And that is the area where the 40 hours would like to see Brandon Aiyuk step it up, and I think they've I'm sure and it's something that kind of CNN was asked about today. But he said that you know there's no issue. You know he's just the injuries, But, yeah, I mean, there's something going on there with Brandon Aiyuk and, uh I'm hi, I'm Brandon Aiyuk. You know the first couple practices of training camp. He looked awesome. And I thought, Wow, this is going to be a great combination of IAC and people Samuel, and after that Are you kind of disappeared a little bit and then train. Sure. Field stepped up. Take The brain and I use that I saw last year. I don't care how good trend Sure Field is performing. He's not as good as that. Brandon Aiyuk, So that's something where you know he's got to. Going to figure this out, get healthy and then kind of show the flashes that he showed last season. I think the 40 years you know, they expect him to be a good football player in You know they're going to have to start seeing it, though more than what he shall have. So what you're saying is they should trade all their 2nd 3rd round draft picks for 4th and 5th round draft picks and they would be better off. That's what they would be. That is something that I don't know that they considered Tom. But clearly, thank you. Innovative. Clearly they ahead of time I'm ahead of the curve. I think outside the box. Uh, one position was that wide receiver a few years ago. You said the point actually use all seven picks on wide receivers. Was that medical over special as well? Can't I can neither confirm nor deny. But it sounds like something I might say. It definitely sounds like something. I might say, that's all right. My angels did that this year, Matt. They drafted 20 pitchers in a 20 round draft. So we'll see how that goes for the movie. Did they really do that? Oh, yeah. 20 pitchers 20. Yeah, that's impressive. That's it. Well, impressive is the word we use their whole wolf. We'll see. We'll see if Master not dramatic. With the injury to Mostert. I know Kyle said that he wanted to lead the league in rushing attempts. Do you think that still holds or do you think this falls a little bit more on Garoppolo and Trey? Lance? Maybe. No, I think I think it doesn't matter who the running back is or the running backs are there..

But, uh, I got a great coach and you don't make sure get right. That's young Elijah Mitchell.

"A secondary He's best when a running game is functioning at a high level and he can utilize the play action game. A lot of trick plays that are pretty much implemented into this offense is more so just about him being decisive, have been making the right decisions. And trusting his instincts trust in his training, and that's when he gets in. Trouble is when he's thinking too much. You can tell. He's thinking he looks like he's seeing ghost out there and he's indecisive with the football. That's why 2 to 3 times a game. You'd be like, What was Jimmy thinking on that throat? Right? It's because he's not decisive in his training, and he probably predetermined something sometimes, but I think he just needs to let it go. This. This is why third here in this offense, we let them so Super Bowl. He understands it. Checks the formations. Everything. Kyle Shanahan, one from them. Don't be in your head so much and just go out there and performance. You know, he'll take this team as far as they want to go if he plays well and plays confidently. Take us into the mindset of Dominica, Ryan's first year defensive coordinator. He's 36. As you said, he's got a terrific defensive line. I think this fortnight of defense is good on all three levels, but There's a there's a right tackle in in this game Penis Sewell, who was great at great in the Pac 12, but he's a rookie making his first NFL start. What will DiMicco Ryan's try to do to to, um To make sure that a Sewell remembers his first day in the NFL. Well, you put both over. He put the forward in front of them and you get them into third and long situations and you work the rookie. Um, but as far as the mindset of the D C I think that you know you're saying it's just don't mess it up for the last few years. This defense of you know, performed, you know pretty well even last year, with all the injuries 2000 and 19, arguably the best defense in the league. Just don't mess it up. The guys know this system from talking to them in training camp, they pretty much know where the ball is going and run situations and past situations. What is about that individual that in that area Understanding that the ball is coming to them, because that's the weakness in the coverage. When you get defensive thinking that way, it shows me that they're not just primarily thinking about offensive defense is secondary in third Early thinking into the defense, so don't just mess it up, and what he wants to do is he wants to implement a few more blitz us here and there a little couple pressure packages, which I expect being a Green law and Fred Warner are just tremendous when you Adam into the past rest. But other than that, just don't mess it up and play good run defense and let that front for go eat. I've asked a few people Don't who they think the most indispensable 49 are is this season and basically, it's come down to, uh, Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner. Those are the three names that always pop up. Who do you think the most indispensable 49. There is. He most are. The velocity and he hits the hose with being in this outside zone stretch team, the decision making being decisive and fear that he puts in defenders Is invaluable, and that's the reason why George Kittle was open a lot of times. It's a reason why receivers are open coming across the middle is where you get so many guys into him was stopping Iran stopping Iran. Let me beat Rahim to the gap. If they lose track of their past responsibilities, And as long as he can continue to gash, defenses get no splash plays your play action game is going to work all the time. So I would say that he's the most invaluable you have. He's the most valuable you need. Raheem Mostert on the field. 20 to 25 touches a game. Your offense will perform. His familiarity with Jared Goff. Is that something that this neither team can lead on going into Detroit? I believe so. I understand everything about Jerry golf him being inside the division. Past few years, and they have a three and five records. I mean golf has three and five record versus the 40. Niners 14 touchdowns 600 steps since they've been able to get to him, 11 times. They understand who they're playing. Jared Goff. He leaned heavily on the run game in L A. The past few years. When you put them in drop back situations. He doesn't know where is over the football. So that's the game plan for the defense is to stop to run not allowed Swift and Haakenson, the case, the ball and any Cinema to third and medium, third and long situations. Make Jerry Golf Beach you. You don't have to get to exotic. You just make him throw the ball in front of you. He might throw it to you. Talking to Dante winner on the guest line for years and years. The college game, you know in bits and pieces copied the NFL game, and I kind of think it's been reversed in recent years. Where now you see the NFL copying some of the concepts you see in college. One of the things I wanted to ask you about that I saw a lot this weekend. In a few different spots. You know, D J. Durkin's doing this at Mississippi, the 3 to 6 defense as a base with three down linemen, two linebackers and 60 Bs, basically a dime. Using that on the base in the base defense. What do you think? Dante Amino? Are we going to see more? Um as space becomes a premium premium and has become more of a passing league. Will we see Seven of the 10 defensive plays being dime. And do you think? What do you think of a 3 to 6 as a base concept? Sometimes 3 to 6 is for third and extremely long situations were not related, relying on the guys up front to get pressure on the quarterback..

"Low rates disappear. That's C U N e t dot com Here is Number three. About four. Attend a couple quick ones for you. This one is a bigger topic, but I want to just Get it out there because it's something I'm going to spend some more time on on future shows. And we've seen over the last couple decades. This push West people flocking to Western states, Texas and California and New Mexico and other places. And I've said over and over again. I think its pursuit of you know, quieter weather, although that's been disproven by the crazy whether we've seen over the last few years, um, just warmer. Lot of conversation about better schools, lower taxes. I get all that stuff and that that's always going to be a driver for one's decision. Where to live, or where to raise a family that that's all good and I completely understand it. But the thing that's not getting enough attention on this is the fact that When you look at the water, the fresh water supplies Their dwindling rapidly. For whatever reason, the climate has warmed up, and I'm not going to get into a big Climate warming debate here. It is changing the dynamic in the in the Western states, the United States. Colorado River Lake Mead. Many of these resources that provide fresh water for significant parts of the West. Are drying up. And when you look at this story It doesn't get enough attention. Because above Having a decent and steady supply of power, and we've talked about Texas and how their inability to control that Having fresh water to drink. Bathe in to cook in or cook with. It's gonna be a big issue. Like need. 35% of what it was 20 years ago. I think the other one is Lake Powell. Where they're having now to tell people You've got to conserve. Car washes and watering ones. Lawn going to live in a desert? Probably not a good idea to have a green law. Especially when you're struggling to meet the needs of the people who Just want to drink that water or cook in that water. So it's a story to watch. And you know, everywhere from Texas to California. This is going to be a story that's going to require Significant cooperation in the interesting part on the politics side is, Will states be willing to cooperate? And here's the big ask As it happened. It hasn't happened yet. But at some point, you know Somebody's going to make that request. Hey, great legs states. All that fresh water you've got you've had record Levels of Lake water. Can we borrow some or buy some? You know what the answer should be? No. You choose to live where you live. If you over populated areas that can't sustain for a lot of different reasons. Whether that's power or water. Probably not the best decision you can make, and I'm not condemning those states. But you've got to start thinking about this stuff. And when you're making decisions on where to live factor that into the equation, and I think I'm correct on this. I think California lost population for the first time in a long time. There's a reason why that's happening. And some of it might be water and finally to wrap the four at 10. Got to talk about this. The show is interesting. Yeah, The questions are interesting. We all play the guessing game. How many do you know if you hit 50%? I think you're doing pretty good. "Guerrero. Along with my co-host levin black what is up levin. Oh by the time waiting for real stuff to actually happen in the nfl. We got a little bit of that today by the way this is episode. Forty one the emmanuel moseley edition of the gold standard podcasts. We got some real stuff today. Eleven to forty niners were on the field. We heard from d'amico ryan's for the first time and we had some player availability as well. Few interesting quotes came out. That we're gonna get today was real. We had stuff today. it's nice. it's a nice break you know. We're at that part of the season where you could go entire week without anything actually happening and people are just drumming up. Something to talk about. This week is a little bit different. We still have the. Ot going on we got ta this week. We got ota's next week. We got mandatory minicamp the week after that things are going to be happening in the near future for the forty niners which is good because it makes our lives frankly a lot easier and so let's get right into it levin. The big thing. That i was looking forward to today. Was the first press conference from d'amico ryan's because as much as we focus on the quarterback the niners have a brand new rookie. Defensive coordinator never done the job before. I know a little bit about d'amico ryan's because actually remember him as a player but we you know we're still getting to know him so it was nice to finally hear from d'amico today. Yeah he's only thirty six. Quit playing just what six years ago. Twenty fifteen was his last year former defensive rookie of the year. I remember talking about him. I had older radio college show. And we're all picking our rookie defensive players in the air and we're like wow. This guy is like one hundred and thirty tackles as a rookie like my first memory of d'amico o. Rien but yeah. I kind of liked what he said. I mean we'll get into more of the details. But i thought it was a good first. Glimpse into d'amico ryan's as the head guy. So he started out with the typical defensive coordinator line which i feel like everybody says right. They said like what kind of defense do you wanna do. And he gave the typical well. We're going to be fast. We're going to be aggressive. We're gonna be smart like that. Is the straight up football guy every possible response. What else he was going to say. Well it was going to say we're going to be slow boring. And you know not like the tackle but i i. Soon as i saw that i was like. Oh no we just get generic defensive coordinator guy no on. I think Niner fans are going to be surprised when the season comes and sees dimicco ryan's is because we have seen rumors before solid. Even left the demille ryan's to blitz mawr that have d'amico rhines becomes the defensive coordinator. They'll will be more blitz everything he said today and a lot of reading between the lines of what the player said. I think that's going to end up being true. We're going to see a defense that takes a little bit more risks. I think they're gonna try to force more turnovers more sacks but that will also mean that they're more susceptible to give up the big play. There's kind of a balance there and even touched on that that there's a balance to being too aggressive and also throwing caution to the wind and that's a good point by you. You brought up the other things. The players have said because i think d'amico smart enough to be a little bit guard but some of the players aren't necessarily totally on their guard like a samson buco said basically when i was with the rams i had to do some reading and with the forty niners. They don't want me to do any of that. They just want me to attack all the time which to me means that. He's basically their replacement for deformed because they weren't dropping ford backing coverage either rate by reading he doesn't mean literal word reading he means at the snap. He has to read what the defense offense is doing and adjust what he does before he can actually decided to go up field. Say on like a passing play. Where the quarterback shopping back is to have that split second hesitation but the niners there is none of that and that's by design. He is in that wide nine tech where his job is to get upfield and try to get into the backfield so that i think is going to lead to a really good year. You know i've been saying on twitter. The last couple of weeks. I think samson is going going to have a really big year and he's going to become a fan favorite and i would not be surprised if he ends up getting a double digit sack season because the or the offensive line is going to roll protection every single time to the other side of the line. Because you're going to have nick boza on the other side of the line. So they're gonna have to concentrate and have the fullback or the tight in over on bo's aside a lot more often than sampson's that's always going to have kind of a free one on one often and that's not even touching on the fact that on the other side will also be the guy that a lot of the players said is the breakout candidate. That's von kinloch. Right side of the defensive line could be ridiculous. I love that the forty niners are going to be dictating. Two teams. Basically how you have to block up front. Just because of all the talent that they have and you're right to mention kinlaw because ryan's mentioned kinlaw. He was asked for like three breakout candidates and he mentioned javon kinlaw kevin gibbons and andrey greenlaw and i saw the report and i'm super skeptical of this but you know ryan said that dog kimmel looks so much better not as you can tell all the work like i am so done with that. There is nothing less valuable than ot a training camp reports about. How good people look member when solomon. Thomas awesome last year salman thomas. Trent taylor looked really really good. This was the year and then they got out in the field and they were the same damn players. They always work now. Maybe cannot will take a step forward because it's year to ram it's possible but i'm not getting my hopes up because d'amico ryan threw a bone in his first press conference and seed the one that i really can zero in on d'amico ryan's picked out green laws. A breakout candidate. That kind of to me tied into him. Talking more being more aggressive. I think green is going to be sit on blitz blitzes. Quite often just blitzed. Because i think the weakness degreen lot he. He's very athletic. He's pretty good coverage. But he he's pretty slow to recognize things to do the reading as samson but they if you blitz and put him into the gap or you think the run could be and if it's not a run and he's already going up filled towards the quarterback but if it is run he's blitzing the gap where the run should be. You know what. I mean like you kind of take away a little bit of him. Having to try to read the play before reacting. It's so funny to hear mentioned greenlaw because literally on yesterday's shannon plan kyle posey and kosh talked about the most overrated forty niner. And that was kyle's pick was dragged greenlaw and his point was basically he's gotten worse in coverage since he's come into the league and people love him because we think of the interception against russell wilson on monday night football and the stop on the goal line in seattle at the end of two thousand nineteen the clinch the number. One seat for the niners but we overlook all his other deficiencies and that is definitely one like you mentioned. He's he's slowed read and react to the play. So if the forty niners recognize that and try and take some of that uncertainty away and just say this is your job on this play..

Obviously the quarterback has a lot to do with that and missour- that they do that you try to apply to your own program with With the forty niners I'm editing takito. Long success is having the right quarterback Throughout that whole time and then having a good coaching staff and good personnel department. I think if you look at anyone other it's pittsburgh whether it's new england Whether it's new orleans green bay Seattle all the teams with At have had great quarterbacks over the last decade with good coaches and good personnel departments. They got a shot to be in the playoffs. He also talks about why drake lot will not be playing sunday in the keep backup. Qb will be a drake. Green laws injury wiser. What's his situation. Why's he out and then can you address the The backup quarterback situation. Who's going to be on sunday at the backup. Quarterbacks can be josh and and then greenlaw had a calf strain complained of some calf tightness after practice. Yesterday we got. Mri saul was strain. So you can go and the next person to clarify so we'll but I want to get all three up. I don't know if i'll be able to 'cause josh johnson we have to flex him rolling allowed three flexes or four with the extra linemen Looking at our roster. I gotta find out who we have to flex up Total just to be able to Field forty guys. If i don't have to do them for sure gonna get joshua johnson up. And that's why i don't have decided to if i can't get them up then without a doubt it'll be the other guy. Josh rosen kyle. How drills junior..
