"Doherty is going to join us here in just a second Tj jefferson to my right michael. Del tufo of course is always chris. Brockman know batting up over there We were talking about the green bay. Packers well here. We go pete doherty from the green bay press. Gazette joins us now to talk all things packers. Welcome to the show. Pete how you doing buddy. Good ryan how are you today do good how. How are things going out there. Nothing to write about this summer. It looks like yeah it's The circus kinda came back found But you know it's it's just it's going to be kind of a dead period. I mean there's going to be little snippets of news between now and the start camp but you know the next big date is whether he shows for the start of camp and if he doesn't show for that and whether he shows for the first game and even with the start of camp that's when things get really interesting if he if he doesn't show because that will begin to suggest how serious he really is about Want to get out of here. Yeah talking with pete doherty from the green bay. Press gazette again about this packer situation. has it I mean you have your contacts you you have your sources and things like that but is it. Is it leading to a possible return for the season because we haven't heard haven't heard Aaron rodgers blatantly. Come out and say it on the record. Like i do not want to be here. I'm not going to be here. We've heard from different ways. We've heard that he's had a problem with it with kenny. Mayne on sportscenter. But we haven't heard like that ultimatum. Like i'm done i'm out. I'm not playing there again. We've heard it from surrogates. So you know i believe that. It's true to at least some degree that he wants out. But you know the real proof will be what kind of financial hit. he's willing to take. Is he willing to sit out a season. Is he willing to. Even you know retire for a season or maybe longer So i you know. I believe it's true that there's you know that he's he's pretty serious. But i waver i keep going back and forth on whether he'll actually pull the trigger not i you know since this stuff broke you know right at the draft. I've been basically hovering around sixty forty that he won't be there. He won't be back and he won't be their quarterback this year just in the last week or so. I've kind of flip. Flopped at two sixty forty. He will be some of the things. James jones has been saying you know. Make me think maybe rogers you know his kind of lands a little groundwork for coming back and having the plausible deniability talked about there because he never actually said. I definitely want out But you know on the other hand devante adams you know when he's talked about it. He's in touch with rogers he seen. He didn't seem super optimistic. So really the only people who might know might be you know. Rogers and his fiancee and his agent. And maybe even they aren't sure you know what the ultimate decision be until it's time to make it what. What is aaron. Rodgers is legacy if he doesn't come back if he decides to retire with three. Mvp's a super bowl title in you know essentially four nfc championship. Losses could have got him back. Is it Is it a place where he's seen as the greatest green bay packers quarterback of all time or does he need that that other championship to exceed Brett farve and get get to the same level as bart star. Yeah i would think He would need to win another championship to get past five. You know right now. They're they're neck and neck. They each have their strengths. I mean let's. I mean they're both i mean. Rodgers will be no brain no-brainer hall of famer. If i'm still i'm a i'm a. I'm still in the committee my speech for my presentation for him. We'll be as long as it was for five which was like nine seconds. I think so you know right. He'll he'll rodgers will go down as one of the great greatest peer passers The game has ever seen Fantastic a great player helped build the titletown district out here which is going to be a. You know it's a business district next to lambofield. What's the packers own. And it'll be a revenue stream for decades to come for this franchise. So it's you know it's a franchise a lot. He'll he'll have all those things but he'll also have you know the championship losses. Some of which You know he bears little or no responsibility. But one or two of which he's right in the thick of being responsible for the loss. So it'll be a mix but obviously you know push comes to shove he's he goes down to one of the all-time great quarterbacks if he were to quit right now and you know like you say i mean he could have three to five real good years left. I mean who knows They have a good team or whoever else he might end up with he could win another super bowl or to really. Yeah i if you look what tom brady did for. Thirty eight to forty five essentially forty three. I think he played for four championships. So that's and. I also think that has something to do with. I think that aaron saw what tom was able to do. And i just don't know if there's a a landing spot for him that's a better place to win a championship. Then in green bay because They need each other right green. Bay's win loss record. May be hovering around. Seven or eight wins without aaron rodgers. And that's that's given a lot of credit to jordan love as a as a essentially rookie quarterback if he gets the call This this seems like a a a terrible hill to die on because he found his voice. This offseason when. I thought the perfect opportunity for him to voice his like dominance in like leadership. And i'm the guy was in the nfc championship when he walked off the field and allowed the team to walk on and kick a field goal there. That was the moment and where he puts his hand up till the floor. And says no if we're gonna if we're gonna lose this game it's going to be on my arm on the leader here. It is now. This is where i i told the line and i was. I was shocked that that didn't happen. And then this off season when he chose to kind of take the stand then Around his his what he thinks is his position with the green bay. Packers yeah and i you know. I mean if love is their quarterback even if love turns out to be a really really good player. I mean i think four or five wins is probably more more more realistic. I mean they were. Rogers was in his fourth year in the league when he became a starter and look how great he's turned out to be and they went six and ten his first year as starter. So it's tough sledding with the rookie comes with a really really young quarterback. There's never been a starter for no matter. You know no matter who the guy is and yeah for sure. This is their best. This is rogers. Best chance to win the super bowl and obviously the packers need him to win one There's nobody that they'd be willing to trade him to now. Who would have a better chance in the packers this and they're set up to be really good. You know this year and probably next year unless some strange things happen with With serious injuries and in that championship game they were you know they had. There's plenty of responsibility. go around. there's that touchdown they gave up on basically the last one of the first half it's not they. Atoms dropped touchdown pass early that they on third down so they had to kick a field goal Joe aaron jones fumbled on the first possession..

"I would have mixed up something other than going for touchdowns and I think the worst case scenarios you give the ball to the Buccaneers at the what? The 87 Yard line and then you try to stop Brady there. You still need to touch down. I have Aaron Rodgers. And a chance to score a touchdown to take the lead and then try to stop Tom Brady. I don't want to give the ball back. I'm not giving the ball back to Jamis Winston. I'm giving the ball back to Tom Brady. And that to me compounded the mist Ake of Kick the field goal. Then give Tom the ball. I don't I don't They don't have Analytics for Brady, Pete. You know what I think you hit on something really important there because there was think it was to either to 20 or 2 10 left when they were at the eight. So they had a lot of time. To run their normal offense. They could have run the ball if they wanted to. They could have run it three times and two minute warning. Plus, as you said. You know, you don't want to give the ball back to Brady. With all this time left all they had to be a little careful there, because if you don't get the two point conversion, then you need the ball back against. You Gotta leave a little time. You don't want to leave Tom Brady with two minutes and their whole offense, the whole reason that they're the number one Scoring offense this year is How effective their running game was and how everything played off that and Rogers was just lethal and play action and they didn't run the ball once on those first three plays, that would have been the perfect time. Early on one of those 1st 22 downs to run the ball and they and they didn't. I think they got it in the fourth quarter. The game was right there for him, and they got away from their identity and they became a draft back team. They look like McCarthy teams in the last few years where it was Aaron drop back and run around to make a play. Yeah. I gotta have the ball in the best players. Hands that I just I just have to It doesn't make any sense whatsoever to go. Hey, we're gonna let Tom Brady have the ball and I'm gonna count on my defense to shut him down. I don't like those odds at all, and I still got to score a touchdown, but You only have seven months to, uh, kind of think about this, Pete. You know, I can't imagine that winter has gotten a little bit longer there and man next season can't come early enough. You know, I'm I'm gonna go to right. I'm gonna have to address us at a column later this week, and I can already tell you what the first line's gonna be. It's gonna be. The circus is back in town because this is This is in its own different laid. This is Brett Fire, talking about retirement and all that stuff all over again, Bill boy, hopefully Well. Erin won't end up in Minnesota, though. Yeah, well, you never know. I mean, I really I I mean, I still find it hard to believe he won't be the Packers quarterback next year. But I didn't thought think Fire would end up in Minnesota, But he got out of the judge. Who knows I'm gonna book you for August. Pete, so I can have you back on and then we could talk about Was this a story Or is the circus truly back in town, But Thanks for joining us, and we appreciate your time, Pete. Thank you for having me down. That's Pete Doherty, The Green Bay Press Gazette. Me long that winter got a little colder. Mur. "Show the story in which the reaction seems to be muted at best and what my explanation for it is that yes it does relate in the end the covered nineteen before that there is a tape that's been out there circulating all over social media that a lot of people about comedy god it's some a couple of doctors who operated company that runs a private emergency room facility they're both well trained they've done a video in which they claim the way we are reacting to cope at nineteen and all levels is totally rocked in particular they say the worst thing that we could be doing is locking ourselves up at our holds that the best thing that you could go to avoid viruses is to strengthen your immune system and strengthening your immune system can only occur when you expose your immune system to forces that caused it to build up resistance he they are urging people to walk around outside not stay indoors and not to wear masks the things all over the internet right now we've linked up a story on that and billing dot com if you would like to watch it it's a one hour tape it's quite interesting that I've had a lot of people ask me to commented saw without commenting on their thoughts it's up their ability to calm so when I finish in the second few seconds here you can get to that story up one other quick flight to make in reaction to some of the questions that we've been facing about the reaction to the virus as I said here in Wisconsin we know that we are a state that is very very diverse politically Madison and Milwaukee are liberal hell holes right now sure what is another planet of the micro managed Daddy state but there are other communities that are sensible and believe in freedom dust in Hartford the city of is what is lacking for Sievers is water it's not a law but I can force the order I wonder what would happen if in other conservative communities a barber shop say in Muskego where they've got a new mayor who claimed he was conservative just decided I was going to open up or hair salon or tanning spot or something like that or restaurant opened in Germantown is German tell going to decide that they're going to be the same bunch of fascist the Toyota universe is trying to run it is only when the public starts instead of rolling over asserting itself and following the lead of Hartford and credit to the people at Hartford for a sensible response any business that wants to stay close will close and one that wants to open then I got up right around and busted their windows that act as though we're living in communist China there in Hartford Wisconsin that is the way to begin to show our way through this particularly as we see numerous other states taking a much more open approach toward resuming society add Europe from what I can tell much of Europe is going to be open by the middle of may and you're seeing significant even in Spain which was virtually locked down they are now in the process of easy I lefties are always say we should follow Europe let's see if they're willing to follow Europe with regard to this and finally this topic in fact I'm going to preview it by mentioning something else on a related note there's a big story a J. S. on my did it comes to the Green Bay press Gazette this story gives you incredible truth if you think about it headlight a season without Packers fans would devastate Green Bay academy the point of the story is that the NFL this year decides to play without fans if at all but let's assume they say without fans that it would devastate the Green Bay academy think about what they just said they're saying if for the eight weekends nine county ten counting the preseason but the Packers play a home game if they don't get to have fans there for that it would devastate their economy well then what is it doing everybody else's academy where were all shut down all the way if green bay's devastated by not having kids football games what's everything else by not having any and anything so they're willing to acknowledge it would be devastating to shut everything down for ten days do they therefore not acknowledge that it's devastating everywhere else to shut everything that we have permanently at odd that related doubt part of it might simply be because of the distraction of a covert nineteen and so on but every time the Packers do something controversial it's the one guaranteed topic that I get ninety million reactions to I have gotten almost zero reaction to the Packers bold decision to not only draft but moved up to draft a quarterback in the first round of the NFL draft no of the people I know almost everyone is criticizing the move but I I know negative and some work people but I had no reaction from the audience to this at all and here's my take out I think most people simply don't know they don't know how good Jordan love is because he didn't play for a high level school he played in the mountain west conference Utah state so it wasn't on television that much they just don't know so even though it may rub them the wrong way that they didn't do something that helps the team immediately they're willing to think about this now well maybe I guess we should trust the expert which should be good against this is exactly how we have responded to calls at nineteen well they always should go let's try to start to follow G. let's try to start their prison someone usually sports fans have an opinion on everything and this one I think a lot of people don't really know all and don't stick their neck out because they don't add up to do you don't know best not to shoot off your mouth if you don't have an opinion don't spot what I actually have an opinion not surprisingly I have an opinion on the Packers draft Paul said well you should you want me to share with you about because you want to leave or should I share with you now I get it over with plus it would be a good I'd probably forget about it by tomorrow my opinion of the Packer draftees I agree with the J. outside the headline in the print edition of the paper and a J. S. I live the Packers did literally nothing to address any immediate needs they have on the team they say other than maybe the tight end position where they have nothing to go with the Packers have not addressed the fact that they can't stop the run on defense they have not addressed the fact that they don't have any wide receivers on the team they appear to have use this draft and done nothing for a team that had the I think third best record in the NFL last year to try to take that next step and go to the Super Bowl I agree with that that is all correct however I love this draft at I. credit good accounts for you know what would we like to use I'll just say gots to go ahead and do what he did first of all he moved up to get the player and in fact there's a report today that you tried to move up to twenty two so badly they wanted Jordan blob when I see a general manager with that commitment that they really want to move up and get a player that means that they think extremely highly of that player when it's been done in the past it usually is a move that works out but secondly I think people who say that the surprise the Packers are picking quite this is been talked about are we about at the time of the Packers need to start finding a quarterback people argue well Aaron Rodgers gonna play for five or six or seven more years no he's not I Aaron Rodgers is getting hurt all the time right now I'm guessing the Packers probably can tell in three years the mayor and before you so banged up that he can't do it anymore or that his talent completely goes away out of it it's slipped a little bit of this past season he still one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL but I think it about he's got about three years left as a prime player before he's either over the hell or so banged up concussions broken bones these body slammed around and so wide that he just can't do it anymore so drafting a quarterback on a three year project is I think why does it help you now no but it didn't help the Packers now back then in fire zero when they chose Aaron Rodgers with the first pick the question on whether or not this draft is a good rafter not is based on how good Jordan lobbyists I've watched him at Utah state he was phenomenal two years ago he's got the entire package he's tall he's strong he's fast he's got a cannon arm he had a bad year last year but he had almost everybody on the team graduate in a terrible wide receivers when you're a great quarterback with terrible wide receivers you try to force the issue and throw the ball into coverage and he did that too often he also had a new coach last year two years ago is coached by Scott wells a fast track coach now Hey Gerry Anderson the former badger coach with this year they change the system on it I think this guy needs a lot of coaching I think he's at least two years away for two to three years from now I think he can be very good I think he has every tool that you would want and I think ten years from now we're going to be happy the Packers did in this draft of the ad I love taking the running back.

"What about John over here with you okay I just on a quick story actually two quick stories for that and then I'll pick up your phone calls the Green Bay Wisconsin police department needed to get some N. ninety five masks ramming the police are out there dealing with people that are there in people's faces and people are in their faces they need some masks and so this is from the green Green Bay press Gazette a local newspaper in Green Bay Wisconsin and by recording from the article facing both the crime iris pandemic and a shortage of protective face mask recently the Green Bay police department began a search brown county sheriff's officials thought they could help one of the offices suppliers assist the sheriff's office larger than the police department a large geographic area one obvious is suppliers could promptly shipped the N. ninety five masks to northeastern Wisconsin provided the county ordered a thousand which is more they need it so the county department said will split that order with the police department and Green Bay in play in Green Bay said could you know we'll take half of back to the story from Green Bay press Gazette dot com but the masks never arrived they left a Tennessee supplier but ended up not in Wisconsin but some unspecified locale with the federal government filed at a greater need share of time delay in said quote everything was fine one day and then we got a notice in the supplier that the federal government was going to take them all there were going to be any for us the article notes he's on certain this is the sheriff or the yeah sure if tenet toddling he's uncertain which agency pulled rank to get the masks ninety percent of the personal peril personal protective equipment stockpile has been depleted as of Monday and the remaining ten percent the federal government says it is just for federal employees so where are these things going to which red state keep in mind Wisconsin has a democratic governor right now who trump is probably trying to punish it's absolutely incredible any hours pick up some of your phone calls here Robert and forest Grove Oregon Hey Robert what's on your mind that I hi Tom also thank you for coming months indicating American people I want to tell you one on the ground from Harvard Medical School I hope everybody only hassles yes can read it because it's really impactful this research from Harvard Medical School it shows that Medicaid expansion all rights okay here's the article opting out of Medicaid expansion the health and financial impacts by Sam give me even came out a year or two ago Robert we covered extensively on this program on a similar way in fact the original study showed that you know without Medicaid expansion you'd have one between twenty four and forty thousand additional deaths annually in the United States if I'm recording my numbers right like it was like three thousand dollars in Texas two thousand and Florida and my home was strong here they added it all up so what's your point Robert yeah my application is down the Republicans to discuss they got away with murder basically and that all these people died in this post I got a daughter okay but you know they're arguing all along was nobody will get hurt if we block Medicaid nobody will get hurt because you can always go to the emergency room the number that they can almost on the road I remember argument be made in the two thousand eight primary but I don't recall any Republican saying that since well the wild can you know they know they know that people die when they don't expand Medicaid they know that when Rick Scott was the governor of of Florida and chose not to expand Medicaid expand Medicaid is Charlene deal died because she was cutting her heart medication into the mother of three young children they knew that Charlene tells blood was on Rick Scott's hands as still as as a senator they knew that Greg Abbott and Texas refusing to expand Medicaid in Texas was going to lead to the death of Texans and and and and these you know these governors thank you not only do they know what they don't care they don't care about human lives they only care about the ideology of the billionaires who support them these libertarian billionaires who think the government should be doing anything and and god forbid we should have socialism they only care about back or the people yeah and out with the lobbyists the industry lobbyists who are pouring money into their campaigns in both cases they only care about the people who are giving them cash they don't care about the people who live or die and that's why I I am very very hopeful and frankly a little optimistic that come November we're gonna see all be maybe even the majority these Republicans both at the federal and state level get swept out because these people are sociopaths they're psychopaths in fact some of it you know being willing to take policy steps that you know are going to kill people just to satisfy a right wing billionaire who wants to give money to your campaign I mean that's what's going on Randy and Iowa Iowa a Randy what's up Hey Tom got I'd like to point out a couple of things that I haven't heard anybody comment on hello miss that this isn't my initial the reason I called but that is it's so so security you take somebody who dies in their sixties they worked all their lives and then through somebody's negligence you know then they die and nobody pays so security term unless it's to their spouse so all the money they accrued is gone the majority of it the other point is that this trump in the wanting to sign the checks or has a name on the so secure the virus checks that the that's not trump's money and you just mentioned this earlier in a book review the service I can't remember what the restaurant was but the point is this by Michael Lewis his wrist yep that that's not trump's money but that is a federal note on the taxpayer's debt is what that is this is and he is owning by importing that signature on there his seventh bankruptcy in other words the bankruptcy which could come from a massive turned down and and massive destruction the United States and and and thanks for that bankruptcy in the United States began Randy was when Donald Trump pushed through which a two trillion dollar tax cut was a trillion and a half dollars but it's going to cost us two trillion dollars over the long term because allowing to fund that tax cut and though and we're gonna to pay interest on that borrowing for the next thirty years amen so yes spot on ready thank you for the call John in Medford Oregon Hey John what's up hi there Tom I'm happy to be on the show I called you about three years ago and I think it was right after trump was inaugurated and I made the point that Democrats tend to wind up pretty much everything we get more votes for the house to get more votes for Senate candidates you put it all together and now we win the popular vote I think we've won the popular vote for the presidency five out of the last six elections and yet the Supreme Court court is controlled by Republicans the government's basically controlled by them in my question to you at the time of my comment was you know how long should Democrats continue to play this game that's basically rigged against us every time yeah and you were pretty good your fairly dismissive and talked about alternate moved to Mexico yeah I don't know I just I let me let me finish and then I'll get an alternate John and and you know I'd seriously consider but I you we have not had ever in the history of the United States a third party candidacy Cecilie run for president I don't think we've had more than three or four times in the history the United States a third party candidate successfully run for governor I think Jesse Ventura was the last one to do it and he only lasted one term so as I recall I'm not talking about it a third party I'd turn it all right I don't know I guess my my question was hi John my suggestion is that progressives need to take over the Democratic Party so that the American people by and large you know keep it realize that that the Democratic Party can be progressing can do what they want keep in mind Donald Trump campaigned on basically democratic principles he said we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna have a you know impose tariffs to bring jobs back the United States Democrats been saying that forever it was Reagan and bush who wrote the nafta even though Clinton signed it was Reagan bush who who wrote it number one number two bad trump said I'm gonna do is we're gonna Carolina replace it with a program.

"Green Bay press Gazette joins us now Pete wonderful to have you thanks so much a door having good yeah doing wallmark organize our good men tree shaded I I know you know the tone that this game has taken an and I think collectively here in the bay it's almost like specially when we have anyone on who's covering the Packers were like no one wanted to sound disrespectful but based on the way these two teams play before that's kind of the toll in this game has taken what's the tone out there is is there is there belief for or or how would you describe it love my bug yet is that players are feeding into that and both Rogers and Monday Adams in their press conferences talked about the pressure being on the forty Niners that they but you know crossed on the last time there seven and a half point favorites all the pressures on them and I'm getting a vibe that the Packers are pretty loose and you know can read your skill level online and let the chips fall where they may that's the biker given off by but I I'm sure they feel like they have a much better shot than much of the rest of the world thanks what do you think the scenario is explain how this plays out in the Packers favor from a game plan standpoint well the biggest thing I don't know if you'd call this game planning or not is but job number one is to avoid a horrendous start that happened last time you know our but Adam's got that fifteen yard penalty for bumping order but the backs after catch couple plays later Rodgers bumble's at both inside the five basically give San Francisco a touchdown do they can't do anything like that that that would kill all getting up early they played well when they've finished syrup fairly well most games when they get up there kind of tough when they fall behind it got problems were talking early in the game so just keep wouldn't wouldn't contact there may be keeping the lead for the first half would would help a model lot game plan wise they've got to find a way to run the ball okay you know well enough anyway weather at passing a few times early to set up the run or whatever they have to run the ball okay and that's tough to do because of that front for and that front seven that San Francisco has I mean they ate the Packers alive and that last game I would say that's going to be one of the big keys is just to run well enough anyway they are the one third downs warden left the whole play action and more to just keep it at third and four instead of thirty seven you mentioned the von day items in that last game I know he had just come back from the turf tell was he healthy in that game I don't think so because he kind of struggled for the first month that he came back and may have some problems integrating it back in the office because they actually played really well about I'm going with the taken down payment they really look like a west coast offense and I think they try to force the ball to too much too well when he came back and in the last three weeks or months it's taken on a more organic feel to it they figured out more ways to get him open you know teams all they're gonna they're trying to get a two on they still got it open against Seattle against Minnesota you know the end of the regular season in Detroit to sell I know I think that tell the whole truth the wonders of I know they've built a spring break tell people might think that the articles are really bad injuries and I it seems like he's pretty much full strength our at least close to it Dorothy is with us Packers columnist Green Bay press Gazette glad to have you tonight here on these boards later Pete I I also look at the the the run game that the other Packers feature and and then look at their defense and and and just looking at the evolution of the entire season like they've been on a winning streak since they left San Francisco wasn't necessarily the greatest teams but there were you Vikings in Seahawks games in there what would you say the Packers are playing their best football right now or no probably they have that for instructor Adams was out when they played pretty well in those games to they became the city but now all normal home so for whatever that's worth a blue auto one they look pretty good then they struggle for awhile but yeah I think they are playing better I think their defenses stop the run better for the last month or so which would have been a big problem all season like I said I think they're getting a little better at integrating Adams in the office in a little more natural way there's look there's reason under there's reason to be skeptical of the people around here are somewhat skeptical of them the other point differential no good you know for a team that's when I was thirteen and during the regular season but they do kind of get the sense that their their plan there at least they're playing their best football you know we're right here at the very end of the year maybe not the month of December but the last maybe to their last three games of band you know look a couple of their best games of the season it was a national story last year the relationship between Aaron Rodgers and and Mike McCarthy and how about finally felt like it had to come to a close all with the floor coming in as he's arrived how is that involved how are those two doing together all over all over the last few months well it it's the outside looking in it looks good you know it's the honeymoon still going they really haven't had the terrible times this season no you lose three games that's a pretty good year so the time never got real tough looking for one of his strengths seems to be that is an easy guy to work with I don't think that means that he is soft I think yes core believes he would never stray from what he's willing to give it give in on things I think he's not Rogers more than half way you know this offense that you know you guys would numbers from the chanting and that there really isn't much or or if any audible and there's there might call to plays and use one of our own but they don't have the peer audible again it will look for change that for Rogers so they do have true audibles in it now so that was a big concession and show some trust them they they seem to get along real well and you know honey will still go on so at least for this year it's been up the chemistry between them as band has been really good and you can see it in the quarterbacks you know just demeanor and body language last couple seasons I am just talking in the locker room and press conferences last couple years old of this get this year he just seems you know a little looser little happier guides I want to talk about the fans to you even just mention of use of the fans are skeptical of of this particular group when they look at this game like when people are talking about on sports radio out there in Appleton and what not what are they saying right now scares them about this game you know I don't have a lot of contact with that but yeah that's why I think people are probably a little more optimistic now than they would have been a couple you know three weeks ago or whatever but I you know I still think they know why the Packers underdogs you know I just take a look at those the staff that like Cheney and threw out about what was that about the teams that have lost to a team by twenty five points in the regular season and played in the class was like sixteen and nine which you would think would be a lot better than that so the the losing team the blowing out teams chances are maybe better yet thank I make people see that and think the Packers have a chance you know I think they have a chance because of their tackles they have two good tackle the blogger got hurt in that first game in the first quarter he came out they put both so they will both little to the other side to go against the guy who replaced but both are just a them alive and that she's our game plan for it so by Karen black a black those guys boatswain for and do a decent job and not need much help them make the Packers can at least help more on the inside because that's where the forty Niners really kill them what was with Armstead Buckner totally shut down the run so be on the Packers can help out a little more there than they got a little little please give mark a fighting chance on offense because yeah they just did absolutely nothing in that in that last match up he George who covers the Packers the Green Bay press Gazette is whether speed I'm also curious about what kind of environment Levi's stadium will be we know obviously it's gonna be a while they all of that but that that's a story out here Levi's stadium over the last few years is is no Lambeau field it's not something you can trust this year it has certainly changed the fans are there but I wonder the Packer fans who travel so well how many tickets they're going to gather up what are you hearing out there because I just drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and I don't see anybody with cheese heads on our doing tourist stuff you're on the Friday before the game are there are there are a lot of people traveling out for this game based on what you know all right I have no idea you know there are a lot of transplants in California so maybe they get their hands on a take on the ticket on the tickets are really expensive so it's a pretty big commitment I would guess that they'll be fewer at this game and there would be that there were for the regular season game Francis put it that way I'm just guessing but up but really travel really well but I would think it would be less than in the regular season that way we walk in the town we thank you for the time and good stuff really appreciate it well they could have been marked all I really nice to have the Green Bay side of things from Pete Doherty appreciate his time tonight as well what is today is right around the corner Amy and did we "Right three three seven one three eighty five eighty five Broncos country tonight's up in just a little bit ran from von Miller is level of frustration with the a lack of a pass rush they have to quarterback is they're dead last in the league right now in quarterback kids joining is though right now to talk about the Green Bay Packers Pete Doherty you can define his work on Twitter Pete Doherty and of course he's with the Green Bay press Gazette in USA today network Wisconsin to Pete good evening how are well are you guys doing we're doing great thank you so much for the time tonight so well the things that we've been talking about over the course of this week is the Packers offense in some ways looking like or even with their Jones look fantastic this last week but the team is only averaging fifteen half points over the first two games and that's just kind of on air Rogers like I guess the best way to describe that and and so we're kinda wondering is this just a symptom of a new coaching staff or is this something else entirely. I would guess that you know might be something similar to what the Broncos are experiencing a defense fund I don't know I haven't looked at the Broncos points total but as you were just talking about the lack of sacks I mean that's a big glaring thing and I think it's a lot of it at least you know I can say with the Packers office my best guess is that it's. yeah you have a new a new head coach guys never been a head coach before put in a whole new offense his offense and you know even the rider's experience and obviously accomplish quarterback it's just that the province is fairly different even though they're both west coast they're totally different offshoots of the west coast from you know twenty ran with Mike McCarthy and so I think a lot of those those growing pains and the coaching staff and the players learn the scheme and the coaching staff learning what the players can do well and don't do well and I'm also at the ball you know just as in Gail fantails I'm sure finding out it could take a few weeks to start getting a real real good feel for that stuff. what's going on I would back and looked at a bit of the tape to kind of get prepped for this thing it looks to me like the Packers are a better football team on the script then off of it and I and I would almost say significantly so. yeah that was definitely not the case against Minnesota we only scored three touchdowns in the first I think it's literally fifteen glaze. you know and be a part of that is I'm sure there was a lot of plays on that script that we're on scouted looks. you know can help you out too because the mail the other side of the ball it has seen it. so yeah that was the that was a big factor now you know it just. you know they're not overflowing with talent on offense yeah they have they have enough I mean Tom Brady makes it work with out any in a real star that receiver may have Adams who is a you know he's looked at number one and they just you know I think it's just gonna be a few weeks before they they play good that they played pretty decent office which is going to be for the stars the other better week two than week one and our guests will be a little better in week three then in week two and I'm not sure good Denver's defense service I think Chicago is going to be outstanding Minnesota should be pretty good you know and has spent the last few years they still have a lot of those players so I you know it's just gonna probably take awhile and then we'll find out you know by halfway through the year so whether the injuries are taking a toll on Rodgers R.. no mail kinda office of cultural Florida's of things are still floundering in. November you know then and maybe they have some other problems they have been obviously that asked whether problems than just learning a new offense the door to you joining us here Broncos country tonight was so short of the defensive side of the ball because the defense has gotten off to a really great start is so far this year I mean they're they're tops in the league in several categories well what do you attribute to the defense success so far. yeah I mean you know we just got to keep reminding yourself it's just two games but they signed their GM Brian good echoes put big big money in the free free agents press that's where the various weapons Adrian name also to outside linebackers and safeties uses first two draft picks for first rounders on defensive players are trying here is not plan much but there are no savages starting at safety yes all of the specially the four guys a three free agents and savage and especially the three free agent. I really making a difference and I think it's an improvement from what band with you know Kenny Clarke keeps getting better at nose tackle and he's only twenty three so the turn twenty four you the top at least ten to maybe five defensive tackle league now so he keeps getting better and Kevin caning is actually been healthy for the first two weeks which. is something that's been a rarity and when he and Jay Ehrlich Sander on the field together at cornerback this defense is noticeably better we saw last year the only place basically a couple games together but when they play together there at the front got more staff so. it kind of put all that stuff together and. I don't think this is a it also kind of anomaly these first two games I'm guessing they're going to be a pretty good defense and. I mean you never know maybe even maybe even really good I would guess the furnace and up in the top ten in here to points as long as they don't have a devastating injuries I don't know maybe only make top five unknowns. yeah that was one of the things at the start of the season I can have my eye on a felt like Green Bay was gonna be a better defensive team the people thought they were I was kind of felt like Mike Patton got a raw deal in Cleveland very good coach I think you look you know you got the continuity factor if it kind of feels like at this point and tell you know it really all comes together for a full game for Green Bay that they're they're almost the defensive identity team at this point. only hope for sure you know it's kind of figured they'd be. you know one of the lucky to be one one at this point and very likely only to about you know like that probably is a pretty good coordinator and accountability from last year's sure helps a lot you know other teams of. we have taken fairly deep dive their free agency they paid big money for those three guys. no you don't. it's it's stopping him on all of them you know you just give like addressing a miss on some of these but at least there Leon is looking like they got in all three. pretty good players there and guys who are you know maybe not all pro starts with guys were just don't good football players who are making a difference so I could be this defense led to carry on for for half the season and then we'll see how our writers as planned in November last one here for you Pete she thought about us tonight so mellow floor made the decision yesterday to not practice and. that was the team's a little bit banged up and he also mentioned that they've kind of got there are you a bit on the eagles do you think that there's a possibility there overlooking the Broncos but here. I didn't interpret it that way because I noticed Philadelphia did the same thing they just a Walker on Wednesday yeah I think that's the way you know we'll both teams are either going this way practicing shorter in camp maybe I'll even a little less pads and a couple years ago. and I think it's more if they're thinking I had for health reasons I don't think they're thinking it had you know I don't think they're working at on strategic reasons bell I mean maybe I'm all wet here maybe they are there they are looking at but it struck me as just the you know trying to take care guys physically because they're gonna talk with tough week and a half. I had a bomb and I guess a week now and the fact that Philadelphia did the same thing suggests that it's. we want those things it'll become common practice in the league especially if you go on the season and he'd get all backed up makes sense P. thanks so much for the time and I appreciate it all right thanks for a minute. already you can check out his work on Twitter Pete Doherty and of course she's a Packers columnist for the Green Bay press Gazette USA today network Wisconsin will come back to react to that also more sound from risking rell and also we'll hear from von Miller coming up here just a little bit Broncos country tonight Kaley..

"I was also impressed that I was looking at your board of of instructors some heavyweight talent on that. But we've got a local instructor to you know, he's in Tom Jenkins used to have Jenkins Jaguar now he's one of our instructors. So what he did is he ended up selling his business five years ago. And then he came to the kademi now, he's one of our instructors, one of the things I think that I see when I see that board is there's a lot of experience here and experience in how to manage your investment. How to look at the market in a different way than maybe a lot of us have been in the past that experience translates to the classroom, and that's what you guys do it online trading. Right. So when you bring up the experience, this is interesting. I don't even know if you know, this fact, but we. We have approximately one hundred forty instructors combined years of trading experience is two thousand three hundred thirty seven years of combined experience of trading experience. So in a roundabout way their instructors, I teachers I, but then they're also traders second, or they're more or less trader so what they're doing is. They actually understand the textbook, but they're actually trading. So if you look at this you're being taught by an instructor being taught by trader 'cause you know, you saw Rick into the three hour class. But then when you saw you saw Brandon Wendell who happens to be chart market technician. Tom Tom Jenkins with one of our instructors. So there's multiple traders, Brandon, Brandon Wendell is a chart market technician. A lot of people don't know what that is. That's a person that writes technical analysis. So some of the things you saw in the three hour class. Brandon writes that so think of the knowledge of that person walking through that path I'm joined by Scots her from the Online Trading Academy on Sunday morning. One of the things that you told me is we have to get out of this mindset of buying hold. And now look at it in a different way. You use the term see the vision that's out there. Right. See the vision or my father's markets dead. And that's the one thing we have to realize, you know, I told you earlier story about you know, I remember when I was a kid I live in Green Bay was born and raised in Green Bay was a farmer for twenty two years before he came in Online Trading Academy. And I remember my dad watching mash at ten thirty at night reading the Green Bay press gazette looking at his mutual funds, and it was going crazy because from nineteen eighty to two thousand the stock market the S and P five hundred one up thirteen hundred and eighty percent. So did my parents need to do anything in the markets know, they didn't. But from two thousand to two thousand nineteen Marcus have dropped fifty percent. So there's a turbulent ride. So I like to tell you about that roller coaster. We've got that roller coaster. We're going way up right now. The what happens is that chains to let go and you start to go down. You get that gut feeling is that possible where we're at right now when you come into the free class three hour class, I'm going to show you some charts and graphs to show you where we are on the curve in. No you saw those before. But it also starts to. They are not putting fear into you. This isn't get rich quick. But what would it look like if you actually had the opportunity to make the right moves in the market's how do you tell how do you talk to somebody when they're thinking about doing this? But maybe they're not brave enough to take the class. How do you? How do you get them over that home? You're going to help me get them over to hunt because we're talking about because the thing is you saw we talked before in your. You're intrigued the first thing is to have the have the interest. I mean, if you don't have an interest to change a retirement account, roundabout way, stay the rate stay the course if you want to be that person. At least you don't make a lot at least you don't lose a lot. At least you're going to be okay. No markets. This might not be for you. But the same point is understanding when you start to make those decisions in almost it's like taking the fear out because you come in your fearful, okay? What's going to happen to me? What's the market going to do? But the question is if you start to have a patent court trading strategy that we have here. It's also somewhat taking away the fear. And that's what we'll start showing you here when you come into the free orientation class right now. So what I'm gonna do is..

"Interesting text here from Andy in Saint Francis. Hey, Dan, how much impact do Milwaukee? Journal sentinel stories actually have on voter is considering how few the number of subscribers. They have an interesting point, Andy I would answer that with the Milwaukee journal sentinel much as the New York Times and the Washington Post for the national media sets the agenda for the Milwaukee media for the Madison media for the media statewide, and because the Gannett newspaper company also is running the same stories in the Oshkosh, northwestern and the Green Bay press gazette and all of the other newspapers that they own. This is the narrative that gets set up. So this is the way that this race is being framed. Do you want to elect a bigot Wisconsin, do you want someone like Brian Haggar Dohrn an anti gay bigot sitting on the state's highest court? Now, I do have a good friend of mine who writes, I disagree with you Dan with Brian was writing was that homosexuality was equal to beastie -ality. Brian does need to explain to his changing views on this. And explain why he believes differently now than what he did back then to that I will respond. He was not acquainting homosexuality with bestiality he was engaging in a very common and a very wrong. I thought from a logical standpoint slippery slope argument, for example, what what opponents of gay marriage were arguing in two thousand five and two thousand six I remember this is actually a fossil at the time of this was I was taking a constitutional law course, and this was actually a big it was Texas v. I keep wanting to say Texas v Johnson. But that's the flag burning case, it was a it was a case out of Texas that struck down an anti sodomy law as being unconstitutional and the argument that was put forward as well. If we allow a man to marry a man what's to stop a man from marrying his dog to which the argument is a dog's not a person. I mean, I it it just always struck me as a dumb argument. But that was the argument that haggen was making he wasn't and the context of his blogs if you actually go back and read them makes that abundantly clear. The more. Pressing argument. Now, I think interestingly enough how far we've come not with respect to the gay marriage argument. But now the next ethical question is going to be not whether a man can marry a dot can you legally marry a machine. Could you marry a robot? Don't producer ties laughing at me. It's true. There are people who want to marry the not not even necessary. I'm not talking about like a roomba. But like humanoid as we get far more advanced in robotics. I mean, what if we have robots like the show Westworld where they may. Hopefully, don't come alive and kill all of us. But it's just it's an interesting. It's an interesting question. So the response that would be he's not he he never did compare. Well, marrying a dude is just like marrying a salamander. No. He didn't say that. He said, okay. If we legalize this where does it stop? It was a poor argument. Not an argument, I would make and to be perfectly honest with you. Never really had an issue with gay marriage at all since I've always found that. Okay. States have the authority to issue. Marriage licenses independent from the church, right? The problem comes in when state says to church. Alright Saint Mary's Catholic church you've gotta marry John. And Steve what that goes against our teachings that would be a direct violation of the free exercise clause. Same thing with a Baker a private Baker. Who says I don't cater. That's why I love the was it memories. I think it was called memories pizza. I love the memories pizza story. You wanna know why? Because the media goes local media. Goes and finds this random little pizza shop, and they say would you cater a gay wedding. I'm like there are no gay men alive who would serve pizza at their wedding. I'm sorry. They just wouldn't it would be. Would just the okay, maybe you put out pizza at the Ed. But there's nobody I don't have enough. We cater a wedding. What are you talking about it? But that in and of itself, you do have the right to say the government cannot force you to bake a cake. The government cannot sanction you for not baking cake. All right. We do have a lot of people wanting to weigh in on this. We do have a lot of interest in this topic. I want to keep it going. Yes. I do have a whole ton of stuff on the Democrats just getting completely fanatical about abortion. But this is important because I don't think people realize conservatives, especially that this supreme court race is a war. I'm.

"You know, maybe it would be another year on the rebuilt, but even a five hundred season showing progress. I mean, that's how it that's how it works in this league get on learning new systems and all that. But he does have a pretty good record with quarterbacks. I mean, you know, he he helped rich Gannon just swears by them. And that's it used to be learned his career took off when he was in Oakland. But he said he learned most of what he knew or much of what he knew when he worked with the Carthy Kansas City. And I don't know if you remember Aaron Brooks, but he was a guy the Packers drafted then when maturity he was on railroad just staff only lasts staff lasted a year. Mccarthy went down to New Orleans and was offensive coordinator down there and got them to trade for him Brooks to be their quarterback. They didn't have one and Aaron Brooks took a little playoffs one. Yeah. Year. And he I think McCarthy was there for three years and they're Brooks played pretty decent football for him. When McCarthy left Aaron Brooks. I think his record after that was like two and twelve or maybe even worse than that was really bad. So his track record overall with quarterback is good. And you know, riders had that he was why am I blanking on the Tedford? You can't protect for Cal. And and had that system where you know quarterbacks had the high carriage on the back. So they put the ball right by their ear, and it kind of mechanical throwing motion because of the way he wanted them to play, you know, he wanted those mechanics, and you know, McCarthy got rid all that stuff. And now you see the natural thrower that Rogers really is. You know and McCarthy you have to say McCarthy helped him there. So yeah, I think he's he's good at work, and what these young quarterbacks, and that would be obviously that would be what would attract have to the to the jets, and what is somewhat ironic if I were call. I if I'm correct here. Mccarthy was with the forty Niners at a time when they were very offense of minded and during the draft passed on Aaron Rodgers, and Alex Alex Smith, I yeah. Yeah. And then McCarthy loses his job with the forty Niners gets hired by Green Bay. And then drafts Aaron Rodgers. Yeah. He gets one because it was that draft Packers. Some San Francisco had the first pick, and it was gonna be Roger Smith, and they took Smith and Rogers falls all the way to twenty five. I think it was and Packers take him at twenty five. And then McCarthy in all year later coaching is coaching Rogers. And I think Roger's never let him forget that that when he was in San Francisco, we pass on the funny thing there is you know, so you worked with Smith for a year, and obviously Smith wasn't close to ready to play. Right. The rookie. And he's nowhere near as good. As Rogers was. But they finished with a thirty second offense thirty second ranked offense that season and yet McCarthy still Thompson still that didn't bother him at all. And he's still hired McCarthy after he had the worst reykdal ranked offense in the in the NFL we're talking with for a few more moments p Gardy who has a Packers columnist for the Green Bay press gazette. You think McCarthy? He will be able to handle New York and the pressure and the scrutiny. I think so I mean, it's completely different markets. But one probably misnomer that people wouldn't realize is that the media coverage of the Packers is actually really thorough. You know, they're the far the biggest thing in this state bigger than Ben state government bigger than anything. So people follow this closely because of the sixties especially in the fire of years. They've got fans all over the just all over the country. They've got one two or three biggest fan bases. The NFL. I would I would guess that all over the world which by emails much ads we do and all that. So and there's a lot of local media, keep the walkie Madison. Green Bay all the TV stations are out there all the time radio print media. So even a small market because the smallest city the media coverage is actually, you know, pretty robust so while it's going to be different in New York. Of course, the jump might not be as big as as. Someone who's unfamiliar with all this with gas. And what kind of well, certainly we're talking about the Green Bay Packers. And if there was going to be an America's team. It would be I believe the Green Bay Packers more than the Dallas Cowboys a little bit more promotional and marketing with with Dallas from when they started with that kind of monitor some years ago, but you're right about when you're talk with what you're saying about the Green Bay Packers. They have a fan base as to other teams too. But really, you're talking Vince Lombardi you're talking at the beginning of the NFL as we know it, you're and Vince Lombardi from here New York is you know, and the bottom line is no the Green Bay Packers without an owner and the Green Bay Packers right in the middle of the country, the small market that's talking about. They could be seriously called America's team if we were gonna call any team in the NFL, America's team might be more. Do you think? Yeah. People love that story. And it's the history is pretty neat. Actually, you know, I had a professor in. And journalism school never use the word unique. But professional sports in North America. They really are unique for their ownership structure, and how they arrived from from nineteen nineteen until now there's a lot of of that and you were hit on with with Lombardi. 'cause that's when the NFL started getting big on TV was in the sixties. And so the Packers were the dominant team Iran national games often. And so all these young fans, you know, teenagers and even younger around the country. We're seeing the backers and watching them win championships. Dr them, no matter where they live. There was people who adopted them as their team, and then they pass that along to their kids. And I think that's a big reason why between that and kind of just the allure of their story, and you'll be in the community on team at I think that has gone a lot of friends. I what I could tell I road games. You know, there's the teams the fans seem the pack stadiums when their team is on the. The most I think the Packers the Steelers New England because of how good they've been and you know, Cowboys fans to, but I think those are probably. I'm not sure if I'm forgetting anybody, but those might be the teams has fan bases. Phil opponent stadium was more than more than anybody in the NFL. No sure about the Green Bay Packers with the history. Currently Lambeau the whole thing. You know, listen to frozen tundra. I mean, I even remember, and I can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday. But I remember that Hornets number was five Jim Taylor. Number was thirty one. Everybody remembers the ice bowl. I mean, Vince Lombardi legendary already and that that's I mean, that's almost too obvious to say, but certainly people know from the Green Bay Packers before we let you go Peter again with Mike McCarthy, you think he'll take the job if it's offered money notwithstanding. You think he would like the challenge of taking over a team that knows losing. Mike from Charlie Brown with the peanuts cartoon strip. I mean, this is the bad news bears. They have not won a Super Bowl since sixty nine. You know from with Joe name that's been fifty years and what a hero. He would become. In fact, Chris Johnson the brother of Woody Johnson. The two owners of the New York Jets said he would become a legend were he able to turn things around any coach. And if it is Mike McCarthy, he would become a legend here in New York were heated turn things around for the New York Jets with young promising quarterback, and he would become a hero here in New York. You'd think he would accept if offered the job the challenge of what New York is. I would think there's a pretty good chance. Now, I'm guessing in his mind. He's interviewing the jets, you know, as much as they're interviewing him. He'll I wanna have a clear understanding of, you know, the the front office structure whose whose bosses and who's making what decisions but. I don't think he would interview unless he were, you know, pretty serious, and he's going to have done background or whatever. To find out some of these things. So I would think if he's taking the interview which it sounds like is that there's a really good chance. He would accept a job if offer I haven't talked to him. So I'm just guessing reading tea leaves. But that's that's my best. Guess sure. And you have no idea when he might be interviewing with the New York Jets. I do not all I've seen is that confirmed that he is interviewing with them. But I haven't seen a day. He's he's free. They could talk to him any time. I would have to assume it'll be in the next. I would guess the next two or three days. Many jets fans right here would love to see him interview. In the next ten minutes. I'm sure. Yeah. He's the popular choice with a lot of our caller is a lot of our listeners. I mean, there are there is always some concerns. I mean, there are a number of jets fans who would love to see this coach or that coach. But I think McCarthy right now is with the popular public opinion that the jets hire him, and I think he'd be interested more than say Arizona or some of the other teams because of the quarterback with Sam darnold. Do you think he would be able to be a complete head coach in other words? Yes, we know. He's offense of minded and the jets need that. And we know that that Sam darnold needs some tutoring and mentoring and coaching and educating ward he be able to cover the entire team as a head coach and be not only the offense of mind that he is. Is. But also have the respect and attention of the defense as well. Tell us what you think of him becoming or and being a head coach with the whole team. Yeah. So three or four years. I think it was three years ago. He decided to give up the play calling and head down. Tom Clements is coordinator at the time. Do it and about halfway about ten games of the season and their offense was not playing. Well, I think it was the fifteenth season is happened. He he took over the play calling himself. It back. My guess is after that experience. You'll never give up the play calling again, I could be wrong. But that would be my best guess. You know, he was hired in large part because of his expertise on offense. So he would be reliant on getting a really good experienced defensive coordinator who he can leave that side of the ball to the handle. Because if you're gonna run the offense there's just not time to also be heavily involved in the defense to so that would be one of the downsides of hiring. If that's what they're looking for is an overseer head coach, there's not enough hours in the day to do to do both. I don't think so sure there would there would be some limitations there. But you know, this is an offensive league. And it's a quarterback league. And so if you get that part, right? You're eighty percent of the way, they're you know, that's why that's why teams like having these offensive head coaches as that's why there's a good argument all things being equal you go off. But that would be my guess is that he would continue to run the offense himself based on his experience. One. He did give up the play calling and so much like he did with Aaron Rodgers when he first took over the job when Aaron Rodgers was young and unknown per se an untested when he was working with an Aaron Rodgers in the off season trying to refine and define his game. And help him become the star. He has become you would think that now all these years later that McCarthy would be doing the same with the Sam darnold working in the off season to improve his game. Yeah. That would be exactly and it was interesting in Rogers first season as a starter was always. And then the no nine so his second. Here's a starter halfway through the season Rogers is on track. If you pro rated that he was gonna be close to setting a record for being sacked most NFL history. I think coward on an instant, I think you have the record. And it was like seventy one sacks something like that..
