"It's Aaron Rogers. There's a case that he's not going to be very good this year because they can't fucking block. And Breeze Hall, as we've talked about, is a two year injury and Garrett Wilson is great, but that's really it for receivers that scare you on the team. And Robert Sal is the coach and people are treating Aaron Rogers as like, he's still in that, like Joe burrow, Trevor Lawrence class. And I'm not sure he is not, not to mention the fact that, what is he, 39 years old now? It's 40 team, 40 years old, really, really hard schedule, hard division. Last year, he threw for 36 95, 26 TVs and 12 picks, which basically I can get from what, 16 quarterbacks in the league. But I think there's this Renaissance of Rogers jets looks, Oh my God, you know, and two years ago at 48 TVs and all that. And I just don't see it because I don't think they're going to be able to block for him. So to me, he's a stay away. Yeah, no, I mean, listen, I didn't include him on my list just because I don't think he's being drafted high enough to make or break your team. Fair. I think he's, I think it's more make or break for NFL. I will, in today's NFL, in today's NFL, you need to be one of two things. You need to either be a dual threat, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, you know, fields, Lamar Jackson, somebody like that. Somebody, again, four of the six quarterbacks last year in points per game had at least 700 rushing yards. Justin Fields. You need to either be a dual threat like that, where you get your points with arms or your leg, or you have to have 35 to 40 passing touchdown upside. Joe burrow, Justin Herbert, by the way, Joe burrow had five rushing touchdowns last year, like, you know, just gimmies. But so you need to either be like just a pocket passer that can have just a massive touchdown. Mahomes right. Somebody like that. And Mahomes still gets you 20 yards a game. Um, or you need to be a true dual threat. Aaron Rogers isn't running, right. He's, he's just not running. So then you're like, okay, well, does he have 35 passing touchdown upside? And the answer is no, because to your point, the jets are in a very tough division. They've got a really good defense. They're not going to get into shootouts. One of the reasons why they went on and got Dalvin cook to go along with Greece hall is because they want a more balanced offense. Again, go back to that 2021 season. They, they want to be more balanced on offense. They don't want to put it all on Rogers. Rogers isn't an idiot. He's not going to be like, I'm going to do this all myself. Like he wants help. Uh, he chose to go to the jets cause he knew they were, they had all the pieces except for quarterback. They were quarterback away. Aaron Rogers doesn't need to be Aaron Rogers with a, you know, with a Cape and MVP Aaron Rogers. He just needs to be an above average NFL quarterback and they've got a real shot. So I don't think that he has a, I don't, I have no interest in him fantasy wise this year because I just don't think he's going to run. I think he's fine. It's going to be QB 15. Um, and there are other guys with more upside. It's going to be Derek Carr, you know, like I don't think people realize this though. And I'll tell you this, I would much rather have Anthony Richardson than Aaron Rogers for fantasy this year. Sure. Oh yeah. No question. And I'd rather have fields too. And those are people that aren't as good at quarterback as Aaron Rogers is, but it's fantasy. And the sleeping giant with fantasy, the last, I don't know, 15 years has been these quarterback running stats. And I always discount them. I always look at like, I just want passing yards and TVs. It's easier to follow. But then you go against these guys like, Jesus Christ, Jalen Hurts had 40 points yesterday. And you, you know, I think people get it more than they did. Yeah. I mean, I don't, just so you know, I don't think anyone thinks of, I mean, I have Richardson at 12, I have fields at seven. I have Rogers, I think at QB 17. Like I don't, I'm, uh, I'm pulling up ADP. I'm pulling up the ADP on, uh, fantasy life.com, by the way, to get a plug in there. Uh, because we have on fantasy life.com, we have the ADP for all the different providers, but at the quarterback position right now, Aaron Rogers, is, uh, you know, he's going like outside the 10th round on every site. Oh, so then he's not a maker. He's going to pick one Oh two on Yahoo. He's going at one 21 on underdog. He's going at one Oh six on FFPC. Like his, you know, he's, he's QB like 15. He's going out and Gino Kirk cousins, Daniel Jones, Dak, you know, Then I'm going to give you a different guy, Brock Purdy. Okay. One dollar. Yeah. I think you could end up starting in some weeks that, that that offense is loaded. He's a hundred. He was a top 10 fantasy quarterback down the stretch. And he was, um, he threw at least two touchdown passes in every game he started. And now it's another year in Shanahan system. And the thing that's brilliant about Shanahan is that he will, he will scheme that, you know, he'd be like, listen, Brock, all you, what he's the issue with Brock Purdy in college talking to, you know, my scouting buddies, right. They said the issue with Purdy was always that just all mental mistakes. Yeah. And what, what Shanahan is brilliant at is sort of eliminating the mental, like you don't need to think about this, this and this and this. All you need to do is here's this read. And if this read isn't there, you're going here. And it's just very simple. You know, how it's been explained to me is that he's really good at Shanahan's really good at sort of scheming it up. So that's really simple for Purdy and the skills can, can take over. And to your point, like that's a guy that can throw a five yard out to Christian McCaffrey. And then he's running 40 yards for a touchdown or Deebo Samuel or Brandon IU or George Kittle. Like they have all these guys that are so good after the catch that all he has to do is be semi accurate, which he was down the stretch last year as a, you know, as a third string rookie. Now he comes into camp knowing like, he's the guy, they've told them like, you're the starter, you're a QB one. So, uh, I don't mind, I don't mind Purdy at all as like a guy for, to your point in the, uh, you know, in the auction as a, um, a late round guy. We got to wrap it up. Who's your number one guy this year? Justin Jefferson. Okay. Justin Jefferson. He's my number one overall guy. Yeah. Okay. It would be interesting to see the list of all your number one guys heading into the season over the last 25 years. Like Tomlinson had to have been that for like three, four years in a row, right? Oh, sure.

"Isn't it a let that linger a little bit? That was the JETS jets jets jets. We've reached our destination. Aaron Rodgers is now a jet for 24 hours. That's how we reacted real time, especially to finding out the compensation is Adam chef who broke the news out here just about 24 hours ago. Welcome to NFL live everybody. I wonder if anything like that is going to shock us today. Anybody got any anything we should know? I got nothing. Okay, well, nothing. Maybe Marcus and Matt Smith. That's on par for you. What did you just, oh, oh, yeah. Well, they're twins on the right side of your screen. That's Dan. We got Jeremy Fowler here in studio today. Marcus spears and Matt Miller later, we're going to tell you what we think the forty-niners should do with Trey Lance. But first, let's get to Aaron Rodgers, the jets, hoping the addition of Rogers will make them a complete team in a contender in 2023. Last season, gangrene had one of the league's best defenses, right? Ranking top ten in points per game, yards per play in opponent QBR. But their offense was a completely different story, ranking near the bottom of the league in all of those areas, including 29 in team total QBR. A lot of that had to do with the quarterback. Here's jets GM Joe Douglas on their new QB today. I mean, obviously, Aaron's one of the best quarterbacks I've ever played this game. And to have an opportunity to add a player of that caliber. We're just we're all excited to add someone of his character in his ability. I mean, at the end of the day, we're going to we needed to have 13 players we were really excited about. Now we have to have 15 players that were really excited about. But in terms of the mechanics of adding that to the deal, that was probably one of the last things that was that was agreed to in the deal. You know, Jeremy this is all trickled through and we've processed the information. Some have wondered did the jets give up too much to get Aaron Rodgers knowing that he isn't a guy that can be relied on to play for 5 years, ten years. Who knows? He dictates a lot of that. So what went into the decision of deciding to go ahead and get this done for the jets? Well, they've been working on this since late January. Really, when they first inquired to the packers about shaking this out. So they just figured, let's just knock this out. They got approval from the ownership to do this deal now. And really, they were trying to find a sweet spot with the first round pick. They didn't want to give up that 2024 first round pick outright to figure let's just give it to a percentage, make it a conditional pick, and then we both walk away with a win. The key there though, what makes this worthwhile? How long he plays? This is going to be beyond a year. I can check for the source who said that Aaron Rodgers has been through the process the same the last three years, which is he contemplates his future every off season. We've been through this song and dance. That's probably not going to change. But the source added, he always plays. So I think the jets are going into this thing, and there's a decent chance that he plays more than one year for them. Yeah, it hit me yesterday that he had said on the pat McAfee show when he said he was going to play for the jets. That going into the darkness, he was 90% retiring and here we are and now they're hoping he's making this team a contender. So let's go to the football. Dan, what does this offense look like with Aaron Rodgers at the helm? Yeah, it's a pretty seamless and ideal fit for Aaron to go into this offense. First of all, you start with Garrett Wilson. Garrett Wilson is going to become his Devante Adams, the guy that at the line of scrimmage, one on one, hey, I'm going to give you those hand signals. Second of all, Greece, hall, who led the NFL in yards from scrimmage in the weeks one through 7 before he got hurt. Nikko Hardman is going to be the touches guy. There's two quarterbacks in the NFL over the last three seasons who have thrown the ball at or behind the line of scrimmage more than Aaron Rodgers. Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady in the last picture you saw was Alan Lazar. He's going to be that trusted, kind of do the dirty work guy across the middle of the field and also in their run game. So in many ways, there's a lot of pieces on this offense that reminded me of some of the pieces in Green Bay. The last thing I would say is this, there's been this conversation that when Nathaniel Hackett coming over as the offensive coordinator that they're the only two that know the offense. Their ex offensive coordinator, Michael flore, comes from the same offense. Kyle Shanahan, Gary kubiak, Mike Shanahan. So a lot of the verbiage that the players on the jets know in formations and schemes are going to be very much so carry over so there's not going to be a ton of new stuff for everybody to learn that air knows. Yeah, I like that deal. I think this offense is going to be layered as well. We saw Aaron Rodgers operate highly when they were having success towards the end of the season with play action. And I don't think you'd have to be as run based as they were because of the young receivers in trying to usher them in, but that play action and that deep ball was amazing. And that is where Garrett Wilson is going to extel. Allen lazor was that guy to who can catch intermediate middle of the field and get some yards after kitchen. Obviously, you got Tyler Coughlin, ASC, JU zama, where Aaron Rodgers lean is on his tight ends to be downfield threats as well. But more than anything, man. The fact that he's going to be there in the off season. And I get what you're saying about the verbiage deal. And that's very important when you start talking about a communication aspect. But you know I've talked about this for a long time. The way Aaron Rodgers throws the football is different for any other guy in the league. The chances that he takes the back shoulders that we saw him in devonta Adams thrive in. Those are the things that you want to have in sync as you go in the training camp in the season. And now he's afforded the ability to do that with some dynamic wide receivers and weapons. Yeah, the AFC stacked, but it is worth remembering to your point, who Aaron Rodgers is, then has recently been, right? As recent as just a couple seasons ago. Matt, they did the packer, excuse me, the jets moved back to spots in the draft. That was a sticky point and something that we really wondered about that 13th overall pick. How critical is that for them now that we know for sure where they'll be picking? Yeah, it's a lot bigger than I think we realized that Joe Douglas said it himself. That was one of the late sticking points. It does matter. It matters because Green Bay has a lot of the same needs as the New York Jets. They're now at 13. It really matters because the New England Patriots are at 14 and they have a lot of the same needs as the New York Jets. So you've taken yourself out of the running for a receiver like Jackson Smith and Jake, but from Ohio State, a player I've heard throughout this draft process, the Jets have done a ton of work on, even after and before the odo Beckham, maybe miss signing that happened there. And it also I think it takes you out of the running for a left tackle like Paris Johnson, also from Ohio State, which is the biggest need for this team. Getting Aaron Rodgers was huge, but let's not act like they're offensive line is settled. It is not at left or right tackle. So the Jets have to hope that one of these tackles does slide to number 15. Yeah, and you got to hope that Aaron Rodgers is satisfied with that person. I mean, that's going to be a storyline to follow his weight protection key, of course, for Rogers over the last three seasons. He ranks second in QBR when he kept clean, but 21st even pressured Mina said it yesterday at his age, no day wants to get hit. Two days until the NFL Draft guys, what's something you're most looking forward to as we enter Thursday, Matt you first. Oh, we have to talk about the quarterbacks. Lower, where did the quarterbacks land? We could see four or maybe 5 drafted in the first round. We expect Bryce young to go first, but the AMC south could have a completely new look at the quarterback position as everyone else chimpanzees the Jack spill Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence. So guys, I want to see where did the quarterbacks go after Bryce young? We're just CJ Stroud land. What the heck did the Houston Texans do? It's going to be wild watching the pastors come off the board. Bring on the chaos. I want to see where the best receiver in this draft is going to go Jackson Smith and jig, but really starts at 12. Likely, if Houston stays here, I think Houston at 12. Green Bay at 13, New England at 14. The chargers at 21 Baltimore 22, the Giants at 25. There's that kind of ten pick window where I think the likelihood of him coming off the board is pretty high. You're getting a premier route runner, a guy who's really good with the ball in his hands who could separate downfield. I love the player. I think he's going to be a phenomenal pro

It's a song that I wrote and it's called the ballad of a backwoodsman. And yeah, yeah, yeah. And for those of you that follow along, you know that we have a we have a Hall of Fame in the bear grease world. Y'all know the baron Greece Hall of Fame? It's for real, man. It's not a joke. And the first, the first inductee, the bear grease Hall of Fame. It was a man by the name of James Lawrence. I say it was. He is a man by the name of James Lawrence. James Lawrence lives in Mena Arkansas. Dear, dear friend of mine. James Lawrence is a he's an incredible mountain deer hunter. He's been his whole life down in the Washington tolls and was killing when other people weren't killing deer when there weren't dudes. And James has always carried in my mind an intangible quality of the mountain people of Arkansas, humble earnest, hardworking, independent, and what I loved about James is nobody ever told him he was cool until maybe means wife. And James was going to be here today because the song is about James Lawrence. He doesn't know there's been a song written about him. He's never heard it before. So he was going to be here today, but he was not able to come. And so we're going to introduce this song, okay, that's stage one. Stage two of stuff I got to say, is that you got to know a little bit about what this song is about. Because it's quite specific. There's several reference points that are going to help you understand it. First of all, there's a reference to the cost of river. Y'all know where the cost on river is. It's going to be wood down in Southwest Arkansas. Okay, James Lawrence. Was born at the headwaters of the Kosta river. There is you will hear the term shock pouching in the song. Y'all know y'all know what a shock pouche is. Okay, that's when it's an old mountain way that James Lawrence's grandmother taught him how to do to carry a deer out of the Woods on your back by cutting different parts of his legs off and tie in the deer's legs and knots and use it like a backpack strap. James Lawrence hunted deep and still does Hans deep in the mountains and shock pouch made in here. You're gonna hear that phrase. You're gonna hear reference to the sawdust pile. James hunted a particular area. And they always camped at what they called the sawdust tile, which was deep in the mountains. You couldn't drive there. You had to walk there. And it was the remnants of an old sawmill where the salt dust stayed there for like 75 years. I mean, they pulled the login equipment out of there. Forever, and there's still remnants of that sawdust file pile. So they camped at the sawdust pop, okay? It's a complex song, okay? We're a complex people, right? So, and then there's reference to bucking horses and motorcycle Rex. When you talk to James, he's 75. And he's doing great for 75, but he's pretty banged up. And he always says, man, it was those bucking horses and motorcycle Rex that did me in. So that's in the song. So I hope you enjoy it. We're gonna give it a go.

"Marriage of him and jets fans is like watching the worst celebrity relationship of all time. We're like, oh, those two aren't gonna make it. Putting him in New York is hilarious. The Jordan love viewing theory potential, even though Rogers won a title a billion years ago, the packers, that's still there. Everything about this, I love, and I really hope it happens. What are you hearing? I'm not tamping it down at all. Anyone who listens knows I'm tied in with those jets guys. Solomon with 20 different guys. They had a list of 20 different people, picks Hackett and I spoke with solid today and his whole thing was, you know, obviously Rogers is going to get what everyone goes online about. But this is a guy who, you know, with Blake bortles was able to get to the AFC championship game and with Kyle Orton off the couch was able to take buffalo and win 8 games and with EJ Manuel scored 20 points. He's a good offensive coordinator. Now the head coaching thing, that's a whole other job. That's the CEO. Nathaniel Hackett can draw and play call. Like that is a 100%. So that's a safe hire from them in that standpoint. The Rogers thing, I will not tamp it down. They don't have a quarterback at the moment, and they're going to be looking for a quarterback. And if you're telling me Derek Carr is a safer pick than Aaron Rodgers because of what I don't, I don't necessarily see that. I think if Aaron can't go to the jets, that can't work. I'm just telling you now. It might match made in hell. It might happen. We might know that, but they might not. They might say, okay, well, Derek Carr is a significant upgrade from Mike white and Zach Wilson, and if we get that and we can win three more games, we're in the playoffs, you know? I think they're gonna bring in one of these veteran guys and gosh, if they can pull off the Rogers. That makes a lot of the backup plan. I think it's Jimmy G if it's not Rogers. Makes a lot of sense, except the injury history. Rogers, Rogers a lot more coming up and knee injury and you're the jets and guys get injured every year because you're jinxed. And Jimmy got hurt this year and Jimmy, yes, he was with Salah, but the connection with Jimmy was really Michael floor who's now no longer there. He was fired. So now you have Hackett who, like I said, when roger when Hackett was interviewing for jobs, Rogers was going around in like Peyton Manning did for Adam Gase way back when and people laugh at that now, but it was like, no, no, guys, this is the dude. This is the guy he was awesome. And Rogers doesn't do that for everybody. He loves Hackett. So I'm not gonna poo poo it. And I think the jets are so desperate at quarterback, if they're gonna entertain everything. And if it means making a huge colossal mistake and mortgaging the future and all those things, like, gosh, for Aaron Rodgers and a jets Jersey, I don't think it's the craziest thing. I hope it happens. I think the price for him might be less than maybe we think. Turns 39 next year. Is that a first round pick? For two years, basically? You think that's a definitely a 100%? I think Aaron Rodgers is a year removed from two MVPs, I think, I think is a first round pick, yeah. I do. You couldn't tell me that's a second. And then a conditional third that could become a first. If you make the Super Bowl, potentially. And if you're the jets. Yeah, I don't mean to get jets fans all excited, but if you're the jets, you sign up for that. Do you have Aaron Rodgers? Okay, let's see what goes now. I mean, you got 8 wins this year, 7 wins this year with the 32nd quarterback room in the entire league and you're getting Greece hall back. You got Garrett Wilson. You've got Elijah more than you look at what they're going to revamp that offensive line too. And then Hackett speaks Rogers language. It's not one of these. Oh, I'm a coach learning how to play call for the first time on the job and gosh, Aaron Rodgers is such a difficult personality. How do I tiptoe around him? Hackett and him bus balls. They're like, boys. I think I like it. It's the most fun. I also personally have multiple jets fans of my life. Who despise Rogers. Hilarious. Yeah, when your Friends have a guy that they hate that all of a sudden they have to talk themselves that they're right. Hey, you know, maybe I misunderstood them. Yeah, he was different back then. I think it was. The Rogers far thing is interesting. I think that would be something Rogers would resist. He wouldn't like having the same career as Brett Favre, trajectory wise. I also think Rogers is a Chico California free love, you know, go to Green Bay, kind of have his own little privacy. Do his own thing. Aaron Rodgers in New York. I mean, I think that would be really interesting, man. I think it's going to happen. Frank rig to Carolina happened. Yeah. Met with Sean Payton. I made a joke about it on Twitter. Did you say it's like the constant of a quarterback for the last four years, right? And he kept trying to find quarterback and just was completely terrible at figuring out who the quarterback should be. And now he's going to attend a quarterback. I'm not saying rice wasn't the first pick. Carolina, David tepper met with Sean Payton on Monday. They had a really good meeting. I just don't know if the numbers were going to ever make sense for what Payton wants and all the picks at the saints were going to demand for him. So they had a good meeting. It didn't work out. Frank blew away, remember, right through their first touchdown pass ever and that expansion season he's got some roots there. Ben Johnson was the offensive coordinator in Detroit. I thought he was a good fit for Carolina because they were going offensive coach and he played at North Carolina and he had roots there, but he withdrew his name. So rik is solid. Now the question is, can he get Steve Wilkes to come back as a defensive coordinator? What are they doing there? And then that's one seat filled. Everyone was talking David Shaw for Denver this week and I was trying to poo poo that knowing what I know a little bit just Greg penner, the new owner, the Walmart director of the chairman of the boards, whatever he is. He had a Stanford MBA and Condoleezza Rice is a Stanford legend and David Shaw comes in. They know David Shaw, so everyone kind of connected those dots. But as we're recording this, it sounds like D'amico Ryan's might be the guy in Denver. Houston, Jonathan gannon had a really good interview with them. They're talking about him as potentially the guy and maybe some other names, but Arizona is the one that's interesting. Sean Payton's meeting with them today. I don't think that's a way to fit. I don't see it. I think Peyton's probably coming back to Fox, to be honest, and it's not because there were no jobs available. I think that he was being picky also, and he's got a certain price that maybe he's always wrong. He just has to wait a year, and then he can be the LA charger said coach. Gotta get one of those 5 quarterbacks. Yeah, so Arizona though, I'm hearing, and this might change by the time it is. I'm hearing either the two names that are leading the way are Dan Quinn is getting a lot of buzz. And then the other one was Brian Flores for a while, but the floor is Kyler matches a very interesting one also. This is a no nonsense. No nonsense guy. That would be a rude awakening for Kyler Murray. The only thing that would be more fun than Flores Kyler is Aaron Rodgers becoming a jet. I hope it happens. By the way, Kingsbury and I texting. He's still in Thailand.

"Dell Diamond this afternoon. Enjoy the Round Rock Express. J. Dick, who's taken golf to heart is in Montana. Remember a few months ago when we watched the match between Bryson Day Shambo and Phil Jason told me that day I'd like to play that golf course. Well, low and behold, Jason and his golf group have traveled to Montana and they're playing that golf course that was on TV. So good for Jason. To get some time off and good for better to be with our great friends from the round Rock Express just got a message from our buddy Brian Davis. He's in a staff meeting at the Statesman. He's going to be with us at 5 15 instead of 4 15, which is which is swell with me. I love to hear from our friend Brian Davis to talk about. The scrimmage from last Saturday. Before we get into some comments from coach Sarkeesian ESPN had a story today that was released today. College football's top 100 players for 2021 Well, Longhorn fans buckle your seat belt, according to ESPN, the number one player In college football is Spencer Rattler of Boomer sooner? That's right, Uh, Spencer rattler, uh, he threw for 3000 and 31 Yards. 28 touchdowns 27 interceptions last year, and he is ESPN. ESPN's top player in the country. Number two Is Devon Stingley, a quarterback from L S U Going down the list. Mack Browns quarterback is the fifth best college football player. Sam How the quarterback for North Carolina. Good for Mac Chris Away from Ohio State is at Number six. Number nine. Excuse me, Number eight. As the best player in college football. Another bit of heartburn for Longhorn fans. Marvin Memes of Oklahoma, the sophomore. Uh, he is awfully good. He's also a punt returner he's considered, according to ESPN. The eighth Best player in college football at number nine. Greece Hall, the running back that Longhorn fans know from Iowa State. He led the nation and carries last year to 79 rushing yards and 1500 yards after contact last season with 820. This guy is really, really good. And Iowa State is that sneaky, good team, but you've got to watch out for many people have Iowa state is there, darling? And a lot of polls this year. A lot of preseason post I think they're going to be really good, but I'm not sure if they can compete against Oklahoma. And I think the long horse would be just as good as Isaiah, Iowa State. All right, Aggie fans. You'll love this the 13th best college football player this year, according to ESPN before the season starts. You're running back Isaiah Spiller, and this guy is great. Isaiah Spiller is great. The guy has so much speed and he is really, really good Aggie fans. He's number 13, the 14th best player in college football. This is a little low for me. I think he should be higher. It's be John Robinson, the Texas Longhorns. Outstanding wide receiver. In the last four games of his freshman year, Robinson had 47 rushers for 522 yards and four touchdowns, eight catches for 129 yards and two more scores. Eugene Robinson is the real deal. If he stays healthy, he's going to make some noise in the high spin. He is considered the 14th best 14th best player. In college football. Aggies. Here's another one of your players. The Marvin Leo is the junior defensive end He's considered the 15th best player. Aggie is have the 17th best player in Kenyan Green, the junior guard who is a big, big block and guard, so the Aggies are well represented. Going down this list. JT Daniels 24th best player. The Georgia quarterback. Longhorn fans saw him when the Longhorns handled USC a few years ago. So the Longhorns have one player. One player in the top 30 At number 29 is Brock Party, the quarterback for Iowa State. He had a great year two years ago. Not so great last year, but he is a confident, confident Competent quarterback, uh for the Oklahoma Sooners. So That's it. Looking down the list more and looking down the list more no more. No more Longhorns in the top 50 in Iowa State's big tight in Charlie Koller is number 51. Okay. Steve Sarkeesian met with the media after After the Scrimmage on Saturday. I was part of the zoom call, and he said it was nice to see you really reversal of the negative things he saw from the quarterback's a week ago to what he saw on Saturday, little bit of revert role reversal from last scrimmage Other the offense played pretty well today. I thought they did a good job controlling the line of scrimmage. We ran the football well, which in turn of the quarterbacks had had a nice day that they're efficient with the ball took advantage of opportunities down the field when they were there, and in the end, I thought they kind of controlled the town. Poll that the defense got better as the day went on getting some three and outs getting off the field. So all in all, I love the improvement from the offense again, the ability to run the ball, the ability to control the ball, move the football down the field. Conversely, when one side does goodness scrimmage, it kind of tells you the other side and we need to step that up that part of our game and that's half of its winning on first down on defense and then getting off the field on third down again. We needed 100 place scrimmage or so we needed to feel the stress of it of playing to have the football. And for the most part, I like the resiliency of the guys. Obviously, there's individuals along the way that are gonna need to step up more so than others. But in the end was a good scrimmage force. Here's more on that battle for the quarterback and how he viewed the quarterbacks for the Texas Longhorns thought they had a really good week. You know, we challenge them after that first scrimmage, and I thought they had a really good first three days coming off the scrimmage Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Thursday, maybe a little spotty, Not quite where I wanted it came back and had a really good, crisp clean. Practice yesterday, and then they both went out and performed pretty well from the naked eye today, but they took care of the ball. Our tempo was better offensively, which is a lot on them of controlling that tempo. Whether we're using shifts, emotions whether we were trying to go fast, Whatever that is, they control it on the field, and I thought they got completions. Half of the key to the drill in our system is getting completions, right? We have to be able to get the ball to our players in space. Allow them to make plays..

"Isaac Slade. Mata Bhutia might have hit him late there, Ben as he went into a slide pretty grabbed his helmet as he was coming up. It looks like we're gonna have a targeting penalty. On slave Mata Mata Attea way, see, targeting all across college football, but many times to me. At least you probably watch more than I do seems to come on that slide on a late slide guys changing planes. Order backs and defenders who are chasing playing defense is such a challenging thing to do regardless that but you add in reality that any time a player lowers his head to protect himself. Referee is telling us looks like he's calling for the targeting penalty. They're gonna live there. This personal foul targeting is the call, and now it'll go up to the booth to review a 308 to go. Yes. Isaac Slade. Mata you, Tia, But as a defender that is coming to secure the tackle. You have to recognize that Okay. At any moment, a quarterback may go into a slide, which is what happened right there, And as he's going down to the ground, it has to change your angle of attack for giving the administering the tackle. Same way with an open field runner that maybe will lower his head and shoulders to protect himself. Oftentimes the defender is called for a targeting that, really there was nothing he could do to stop with and it looks like as I've we've seen in a couple times on replay. This is gonna be one that is not going to be in the favor. Of the Oregon Ducks because he's come at the quarterback has established his his slide and Motta comes in and lowers his head and delivers a blow right to the side of rock parties helmet and as I've seen it, five or six times it looks like it ends up. Bottle ot, a shoulder who it's the head, but it's you pointed out. Once he goes into that feet first slide, he becomes a defenseless player. This is a pretty quick review to here comes our official David Smith. She will be able to hear him Go. Target is confirmed. You could hear that, along with us. And so Isaac Slade motto. Duty A has been rejected. For the rest of the game. The junior from Honolulu is out, and they'll have to go into some of their depth. There was a question of M. J. Cunningham, his sophomore backup would be available to play way were able to see some of the warm ups. He had his pads on. We'll keep our Eyes peeled to see with the Oregon defense looks like as they lose slave Monta do Tia to a targeting call and slave motto. Tia is one of the guys that Mario Crystal Ball pointed out, was one of the few veteran presence on that defensive side of the ball after the two game losing streak. Theo, Cal and Oregon State coach Crystal Ball pointed out Slave motto. Tia and Verone McKinley has a soft more. Those were the two guys that really rallied the troops specifically on that defensive side of the ball and slave motto. Tia was a huge Help development, a mentor for Noah Sul, the talents of true freshman at the middle linebacker position, So I think the loss of slide slave motto. Tia is going to be bigger than just the tackles he makes on the field, but also from a leadership perspective out there as well as on the Buckets Watch list this year televisions in a time out here with three await to go in the first half. Iowa State and Oregon. Tied at 14 a reminder ESPN radio is your home for the college football playoff. January 11th the playoff championship game. Presented by 18 T. Looks like Nick we be is replacing Slade Mata Bhutia, First down and 10 from the 39 yard line. There's a past left sideline who's caught by Joe Skates rather Hutchinson that Xavier Hutchinson Alan that far left sideline and out of bounds at about the 16 yard line. I guess maybe the first deep shot that we've seen. I was they take today. First time we've seen a three man route combination as well. And it's savior hutches and on the far side of the field back shoulder, throw for a big game 29 yards and say, Grease hole run to the left side out to the edge 10 yard line and forced out of bounds. DJ James, that time l market just inside the 10 yard line. Now you've got to start thinking about using the clock. You don't want to give Whole lot of time to this Oregon offense. They've proven in this game, but they can score quickly. Way saw two weeks ago member Iowa State scored a little too soon and Oklahoma ran up the field and got Bullets right into the locker room. Yep. Second and three from the nine yard line. Left side of the line is strongest will give the breeze Hall. He's going up that left hash and gets the first down first and goal on the five yard line before Lenore takes him down on the clock will stop. Is the chains moving Now? They reset with 205 to go and counting a four yard pick up I was state going quickly here, 30. Seconds on the play clock lived to Breeze Hall, pushing toward the goal line and pushing the pile over the goal. I know they're going to say he's down at the 1 ft line. Pile pushed over. But the line's been from the fireside with a hand held up came running in just shy of the goal line the previous run. It was excellent push by the offensive line and tight ends to give Greece Hall the opportunity to get down close to the goal line. But that play it was Greece Hall on a singular effort. Driving those legs. He's an elusive runner. He's a fast runner, but he has a tremendous amount of lower body strength. He pushes all the way down. I thought he got in for the touchdown. But they're saying his forward. Progress was stopped. And now we're here at another. Old line situation. Organ was able to step, put their foot in the ground and stop them. Last time. We'll see if I was taken. Find a way to punch this on him Borrow Crystal Ball called for a time out because he wants to save some time And in fact, he ran out onto the field to speak for the rest. I don't know if he's asking them to put some time back on the clock. Is 1 45 to go. As brief hall that looked like the left knee was just down Andrew fully you with the stop just shy of the goal line and a 14 all time. It's like they've had a three seconds 1 48 on the clock down. It's brief hall, driving his legs against three Oregon defenders, one on each side and another.

"And they went out and played really, really passionate football Last former Buckeye National champ Ben Heart Sakai Marquess too Sure, of course, Ohio State And Alabama January 11th of the college Football playoff National championship game, You'll hear it right here on ESPN Radio, CNN ESPN 407 ago. First quarter 77. Iowa State starts this drive at the 31 yard line Breeze, Haller run up the middle, and he's like tackled as he got to about the 34 yard line. That time. Bree's whole had seven carries for 28 yards on the first drive. And Ben Brock party, who was five for 65 completions to five different receivers on the first series. Getting pretty comfortable is going to be a big part of this game. He had struggled mightily in the Big 12 Championship, had three interceptions. He's a guy that you can use. Some of those quarterbacks scrambles to his advantage. You find a lot when, with athletic type quarterbacks, a run often settles them down in the throwing game. Second down seven. Give Hall looks up the middle now accelerates across the 35. About the 37 Yard line. Isaac Slade Mata duty of that time, with the tackle so far, Iowa State's offensive line getting the better of Oregon's defense of line. We haven't mentioned cave on Thibodeau yet part of that outstanding front. Well. Part of that is Iowa State is yet to take a deep shots, so they're trying to get the ball out of Bracher pretties hands quickly, but the stopping of the run right here, Jordan Scott and Austin Folio defensive tackle and nose guard for Oregon right now, really doing a good job clogging up the middle of that defense? There comes a third and four for the Cyclones of 37 Yard Line. Two receivers to the left. We have movement looks like the Iowa State. Line may have moved first and maybe drop back five yards here. David Smith is our referee from an SEC crew and it is a false start against Iowa State. We don't have a clean feed to the referee, but it looks like it is on Derek Schwaiger the right guard. I'll move it back five yards. That'll set up a third down and nine for Iowa State with 2 47 left in the first in a 77 game. Iowa State. The Big 12 regular season champs lost Oklahoma in the Big 12 title Games title game a couple of weeks ago in Arlington, Texas. 39 gyro. Brock is in the back field to the left of Brock Purty. It takes the staff he's gonna pass grows and it's caught. First out Kohler out of the 42. They're pushing him back. His forward. Progress was out to the 42. That will be a chain mover. That time is McHale right? The cornerback and Isaac slave Monta duty of that time with the stop excellent protection by the Iowa State Offensive line. Brock party. Good pocket that he was able to step up in. And Charlie Koller lined up in the slot, runs a 12 yard banana out trout and finds the spot between the cornerback in the outside and the linebacker in the inside comes down with a really impressive catch. Went up on two minutes to go here in this first quarter Iowa state as a brand new set of downs from their own 42 yard line. Dylan center in motion from the right hand off no longer bumps into the line, and he is swallowed up by a bunch of Oregon defenders might have lost the yard on that one. Brandon Doorless was the first one in Noah Sewell comes away with the football thinking He took it away. But they blown the play dead. You can see that this Oregon Ducks defense has been challenged on the sideline in this drive. They're playing much more stout through the middle. This defensive front. No assault comes in there and flies around Mario Crystal, head coach of Oregon. He has brought a toughness and a physicality to this Oregon team that they weren't known for. And they have really taken to it. I was state may want to get a stamp here, quick. We gotta look at a replay. I don't know that ball might have been out. From new Longer but too late. There's a stab to party pressure coming throws aflutter over the middle, and it is incomplete trying to find Charlie Koller. Or they call that a catch out of the 45. They did Wow! Shoestring catch out of the 45 of Oregon on second down, 11. And that was into a tight window. Nick pickets, the boundary safety was flying in from the outside and almost knocked that ball away. First down and 10 quick snap. Bree's whole losing his footing out of the 45 as he was chased on the edge goes down Nick Pickett and D. Amador Lynn, or that time in coverage. Greece Hall, trying to set the blocks of his offensive lineman tries to step up into the meat of that offensive line and then bounce into the outside. But Nick Picket two big plays in a row steps up from his safety position. As Greece Hall is trying to break contained to the outside and gets into the ground down to the final 30 seconds of this first quarter, Iowa state and plus territory 2nd and 10 from the 45 yard line. It is a play fake toe hall. Purty throws in the flat caught by saner and he's nearly upended right at the line to gain on the near left side by McHale, right. See where they mark it. If you've got the full 10 in the chains are moving, so it's a first down. Was state is not having as much success running the ball with Greece Hall, but they're still able to move the ball effectively Using play action and sneaking. Those off are those tight ends who are moving behind the formation out into the flat. If the run game gets gummed up, you can find a receiver of tight end out in the flat for short gains and turn that into a run game. Ready.
