"Pushed it back and really that's a race that's typically I think typically in years past Bobby on this weekend right now you would have the comped on Saturday and then the Southwest stakes on Monday. I've actually made that drive. I left fair grounds after the lecomte and drove halfway to oak one and then finished the rest of it in the morning and because my up and oak on a bunch of times have gone down or covered races, I've got a good friend lives in Memphis, so I've gotten down there just to have fun and we've gotten like a hotel room and had a blast down there. It's a great track to visit. And I do hope your weather is well, you're right. I saw today, it was supposed to be like in the mid 60s, sunny, maybe even close to 70 today in Hot Springs Arkansas by Saturday night. There's a possibility of snow. It looks like concert tours coming back Saturday in the 5th season race and the 5th season stakes and it's supposed to be wet and cold for that race for that stakes race on Saturday. The snow isn't bad as long as the track doesn't freeze and it gets unsafe where they have to worry about possibly canceling, which of course they had to deal with last year. Then we're okay. But I think no matter what, if we get live racing, we'll have a good time and hopefully we'll cash a few tickets while we're there too. You mentioned the lecomte. That's actually the next points qualifying race on the road to this year's Kentucky Derby. It's on Saturday, January 22nd. At fairgrounds. And we've got the top point getter as of now. Papa cap being pointed for the lecomte. Yeah, absolutely. Breeders cup classic runner up. He ran second in the American pharaoh stace as well. He was a sprint winner at delmar, the best pal stakes last summer for any strain by Mark Cassie, so he's based down in New Orleans at fairgrounds, and he's scheduled to come back and run in that race. He's going to run into a horse in a schedule to possibly run into Steve aspis and epic center who comes off a big 6 and a half win in the inaugural gun runner stakes a month ago or in back in December. And the other horse sits on the possibilities list is cyber knife out made winner for Brad Cox and, you know, a lot of people, he's been looking odds on favor in like three races in a row, cyber knife. So he finally broke through with a maid win. He could be moving the right direction. And yes, that would be a right now. It looks like a short but a solid field returning there. I'm looking forward to seeing papa cap come back and see what he can do at age 30. I want to talk more about the possibilities of the lecompton a few minutes first. Let's get back out to the phones our good friend Charles in Mississippi. Welcome to the bris Nat dot com call in show. Thanks, bob. Hey, James. Hey, Charles. Earlier in your show, you mentioned racial own great communicator, Bobby? Yes, sir. Now, and he has a wife named dot. Now, if I'm not wrong and correct me if I am, weren't race a deal in pet married to sisters. Now that I do not know, that's a good trivia question right there, Charles. I think they were. I think that they should be all married. I don't race the bill's wife was named dot. But I do know that somewhere in my brain, my foggy brain or I remember I believe that they and I'll be listening for the rest of the hour. And maybe another cholera that would know that information could tell us, but man, when y'all start talking about their rebel and how many sandwiches and beers, I might have to buy Bobby. Listen, I've never mentioned that. I have not mentioned that once. You seem to think that I'm going to eat a lot more than I'm planning on eating. I'm very thank God. Patrick got to his bed at the beals bet, Ben. Well, the only way I know you could I know you took the rose's bet and I would guess there's a chance he'll be there. Now, I think you're gonna get off easy. I don't think we'll be at the rebel. And I don't know if he's drying up anyway. Have you seen a picture of him lately? Yeah, I've seen it looks like half of him. Well, look, if you talk to him, I'm telling him I said Ella. I certainly will. He's doing well. He's got a year round job with iris, so he's happy. Oh, yeah. Well, you knew that was going to happen. Hey, I'm all for people doing better Bobby. I'm all for people. Improving yourself. You know, he was a hardworking guy, just like you are. And he helped put a lot into y'all's profession and you know, sometimes you get your Jeff bees are excited that. Well, I appreciate it, Charles. I'll tell him you said that. Listen, Charles, I'm looking forward to seeing you. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Hot Springs Arkansas in about, well, 6 weeks. Yeah, and remember, I'm across between Osama bin Laden and George Clooney. That's according to my wife now. Well, what's part is Morton? Which part is easy to recognize? But I've got my reservations. I got my mom with the rhyme. I've got everything shut up. I'm probably staying the whole weekend, but anyway. I can't wait. And I'm going to tell you this. I've been handicapped and so good, bob. I mean, it is. I think I'm in a dream. And I started in the last two years to be unable to pass races. I used to couldn't pass racism, Bobby. I mean, I would have the better race. If I was there, my hand would start shaking by the bed. But it was like something you said the other day. I'll get it straight. But I listen to the Nara best show too. You and James always do a great job. And listen, I'm a hang up. You can yell at us to talk, but I can't wait till a rebel and maybe we'll pick a few winners, okay? I'm looking forward to Charles will see out there and I'm sure we'll speak to you before then. But 6 weeks to the rebel, just 6 weeks from this Saturday. What were you talking about, Bobby, about great communicator? Well, you know what? So there was a horse that won the second race at Sam Houston today that was part owned by fad ACL, who when we were to see that name the first thing that comes up, you think of at least I think of his 1988 breeders cup turf. Great communicator. People take that's the greatest Tom durkin likes to say that 88 breeders cup. That's his favorite that he thinks that's the greatest raiders cup of all time. Well, I don't know if it is, but I will say this. It's one of the greatest claims of all time. I think they claimed him. It was either for 40 or 50 that they got great communicator, like the year before, and he wins the breeders kept turf. The very next year, obviously, lava man was a horse that was a great claim, but Henry. Yeah. Well, John Henry wasn't claimed. Yeah, he was claimed to ruin his career, I think, a keenland for like 30,000 or something. I mean, there are other horses that were in like maximum security. You could have claimed for 16,000 out of his days. But nobody did. But great communicator was claimed and fat ACL who really was not was not a billboard name as far as thoroughbred trainers in this country going in wins the breeders cup turf with great communicator in.

"But it seemed the predominant opinion was that the raiders might have reached for the offensive linemen in the first round. alex leatherwood. What was your reaction. Do you think they might have reached for him or is this may be a little bit more overblown than than people think. Well i mean if he comes in and he's in he's great. It's not overblown right right. This is that's what the draft is. Y- reach. he wasn't going amy time there is. There is some talk. That obama was thinking about taking twenty seven. That still ten picks down that road. Right you know you can still go to twenty two and engaged a cloudy humid round pick and then there's i think it was peter king agra's in baltimore was in was in so who knows. The bottom line is easy. They're going to be good or the average or he's going to be a bus one of those three right. You better be good at at seventeen. He hey look at. He was a leader on the best team in football college. Football and mean he's an alabama kid So that's that's nice. I think i think you know mayo congruent really love guys and big programs and you look at the first round its clemson. it's alabama is ohio state. you know programs. we'll see. I talked to a scout rafter draft and said you know. He may not be spectacular. But he's going to be a starting right tackle for the next eight years. Is that worth seventeen. We'll see. I mean the the main thing is protecting your quarterback. And you're saying i. I know that the raiders had some work to do there. Let's say in the offense and just talk about the running back position. Kenyan drake was brought in to pair with josh jacobs. What do you make of that situation. A lot of people like saying the raiders are weird in their moves and they've earned that to a certain degree signing a backup running back when you have other needs to eleven million dollar contract over two years when you have. Josh jacobs might be our jewelry. Jon gruden loves his playbook. He loves adding wrinkles to his playbook. That's why he picked lynn boden west year. You know and it didn't work out. Drake is a guy that he's legs from afar you know like when he was scouted him on. He's he liked that guy he liked. Martavis bryant woody in. That didn't work out either and i think drake will work out. Drake sanel they place a wide receiver. I don't know he's going to be a classic ribisi. Revenues going to be some alignment some formations. You know everything about jon. Gruden as a head coach in decision maker in front office guy. he's a pretty good play caller. I think he's close to being an elite playcaller. There's think there is some cool stuff going on that offense during games right. And so i think that's gonna wrinkle. I think is going to keep josh jacobs fresh. I think that's important this guy. That's he's toughie as durable but he gets banged up a lot but he keeps coming back so if you can keep immortal fresher and his yards per carry went down very significantly in year two and that's scary for a guy at twenty two years old and you picked in the first route so i think this is about protection. I think this is about keeping him fresh and keeping defense on their toes in the end luxury. But why not sure. And it's worth noting to from the chiefs perspective. That andy reid and jon gruden were together on that green bay staff in the nineties and remained good friends to this day even though they are the division rivals. What's your greatest raiders. Concern entering this season Interesting cannon defense take a big leap to just be an average ryan can't offensive line gel quickly because if those things don't happen to be good and their schedules interesting. They did the schedule. Pretty bottom heavy as in december in january. But i think the first four games are sneaky. Tough in very important. It's baltimore is a top level. Afc team then. You go to pittsburgh. I don't know what to think about pittsburgh. But if ben is healthy you know it's a game pittsburgh and they have miami who i think could be a handful at home and then you got the chargers on the road so you got four five. C playoff contenders. You're playing to start the season the first quarter of the year. And if you don't come out of that at least two and two you get pretty big hole right and the chiefs have a tough beginning of their season. The first five weeks as well. I think the afc west will be really interesting. Look at around week six. Because whoever plays the best orleans could have a major advantage as you go i think. How do you think the raiders will fare against achieve specifically this season after they were able to get that win last year. that's up to the chiefs. I think the chiefs might be really pissed off at the raiders. And you know we'll see a superior talent obviously. I don't think that's not no breaking news. There there is a confident. Though and jon gruden is is those two chiefs weeks. He's going to especially the first one he's to say. Hey we should beat these guys both gret and they were right there. Those are two really good games. It's been an interesting dynamic. I will say in the marty schottenheimer days. It felt like on the kansas city side. There was this intense desire. And this up for raiders. Week were in this. Andy reid era he kinda downplays it a little bit and says you know it's just another game we're looking at what on the guy that does seem like in vegas slash oakland jon. Gruden puts a lot of emphasis still on chiefs week on that side and there does seem a little bit of an added intensity from the biggest side when it comes to the two chiefs weeks. Yeah 'cause it's big brother you know. And then and then thing they just pop the champagne in arrowhead and do that lap and that was a that was a move. That was the move that they're going to have to live with. And i don't think they're gonna regret it. He was ridiculous the way he had blaming the poorest bus driver area. I have friends who are subject areas. No offense to celebi bus drivers but your own that john. That was your move. You did it and this guy in this world. You're getting it caught. That's not that wasn't going to be a secret right. Yeah house so yeah. I don't does that. Does that spill over to this season. I'll probably not but you know. I think i think patrick mahomes guy what we've seen it on the field. He remembers things. Right of course up and You know i would be surprised if we see this after gabi so but i you know what why not have fun. It's just life. I agree with you. I agree with you. I there's a. There's a point where i enjoy when for example teams. Do things like that whenever there's a wwe aspect to the game when you have mahomes counting on his fingers when they're playing chicago for example or lamar jackson with the nfl. Top one hundred. Yeah for those of you just listening. Bill did a bus driver type of motion with his hands. So we'll see it. Patrick mahomes does something like that when they do play the race to happen. I know bill. I know we do though. I think we all do over here. what's your way too early season. Prediction closed here. What's your way too early season for. The las vegas raiders. I'm a realist. I don't try.

"Not not taking this seriously. The question is why is there that perception out there in i mean heck drone beddis came to pittsburgh in nineteen ninety with a reputation for having a bad attitude and being a malcontent and not being a hard worker. Not being a great teammate. And that couldn't be further from the truth. You know marcus out. Remember marcus allen. The one of the greatest raiders of all time. Mvp of the super bowl was super. Eighteen was at the super bowl. Yeah or maybe whatever super will that was seventy. I'm sorry. Seventeen that great mac magnificent cutback run reversed field fantast. His owner or his boss. Al davis the raiders. Owner always headed off work for allen. Nobody can ever figure out why some people thought it was because Alan hell out a training camp a couple of times. People thought it was because allan was never a true breakaway threat. In in davis was always about speed speed speed. No matter what the position he wanted speed he believed in that kind of thing. Remember he had bo jackson on the team at one point so Nobody ever got to the bottom of it but it was definitely a real thing. Allen has talked about this him and his him and davis never saw. I davis was always trying to replace him. It just didn't make any sense but you know the saying is all you need in life to succeed at. Something is one person to be your champion. That's why i'm here right now because michael beanie original editor behind this curtain Saw something in my writing back in two thousand ten the ask you to be one of his regular writers. Now here we are but the opposite can also be true since all it takes one person to not like you for whatever reason justified or not and it could It could lead to these kind of rumors and maybe even a visit by a tray turner's for somebody trying to trying to replace you. So i'm just. I just gonna go on record as saying i am very optimistic about kevin dots and i'm very excited about him and i can't wait to see what he can contribute to that offensive line in twenty twenty one but to reiterate i have no doubt that this source of of Desjardins told him this and that this is a real thing and the question is why and it'll be interesting to see how this unfolds through training camp the preseason into the regular season so that's all i wanted to say about that See we have on on the in life as far as comments on this and kathy ford says that dodson look pretty good in the pictures that he posted. Yeah i mean that's and that's that's that's true. That's what gives me hope that that dotson is in great shape but that's really not the issue. The issue isn't whether or not datsuns in great shape Like day caufield field says as far as this one term that i always struggle with mutually exclusive. Right i was. I always get that mexico. But i think. I haven't nailed now and kevin dawson can be in great shape but also have somebody within the organization. Unsatisfied with him. The two aren't mutually exclusive right. It's just how it is. Sometimes people just have it out for you for whatever reason they don't like maybe maybe they don't like the kind of player you are as far as technique or or size or or or whatever personality will never know but i have no doubt that this is actually a true thing. So here's my countries. Don't click bait me with that first sentence while it's not click bait. I actually talked about so that. Click bait me talking about what. I was going to talk about graduate and i agree brad you it says. I feel like exact banner. It's getting severely overlooked. I couldn't agree more to reiterate. Nick couldn't agree more. I think I'm very excited about zach. banner. I'm very excited about this line. And the reason why. I'm excited about the line. Like talked about a few shows ago. Because there's really no reason not to be. You know you have szucs who people have always said. And i repeat myself many times people have always say could be a better right or left tackle than the right tackle at. He's going to be moving over. And twenty twenty one obviously thoughts and left guard centers wide open. Hopefully it'll be kendrick green and of course you have trade. Who's a. who's a are a decent veteran. He's had some struggles recently but he's a decent veteran. He's probably going to be an upgrade over the cashier at right guard civil because the cashier was not healthy last year and the banner at right tackle who won the job last year and training camp before season was cut short before the end of the first game with an acl tear. So you have a completely new offensive line allowed. These guys are aggressive. I don't know about szucs so much. But we know dawson's aggressive. We know green as aggressively now banners. Aggressive right turner. I'm not that sure about. But he's he's a five time pro bowl guard. So you know. Adrian clemes preaching a more aggressive attitude and more aggressive demeanor They're going to be focusing on the run more this year. s- presumably so. I think there's really again to repeat something. I said in the past. There's really no reason. There's no point in in pointing out the lines performance last year As a barometer to how things are going to go this year because we just don't know how this lines to do because it's completely different unit more or less.

"Would try to cater to every especially sad think the worst would've been Saturday college football because there were so many networks. And so many different teams. We had alumni groups on Saturdays, Florida Penn State, even Montana. Uh, Auburn used to show up when Kansas State whether we're the ones I remember, and we try and cater to them every week and pulling the game that whatever network it was on And it have sound and it got busy. Got hectic. Sometimes you know that I have people come in on the Sunday morning looking for a soccer game when we had 12 NFL games on and you know that was kind of tough. Yeah, but, uh, way did our best with the funny thing about preseason and until Years ago. We we were just getting lucky if we could find him under the K U band, so we would get friends and family who I mean, who really cares about preseason football that much originally, but they would come in, and it would always be a family member and one the one that stands out the most. And I'll always remember is when Tom Brady was a rookie With the Patriots, his family, the mother, the father and the sisters came over a couple of times that season, not even knowing if he was gonna get in the game. You know it as the third of four string quarterback just to see him play. And of course that was, you know, the most famous parents that we ever saw there for preseason. Wait a minute. Tom Brady Sr it. Ricky's the Raider bar. You never allow that in later years, Mori No. We have pay twit Sands. We treat everybody well. I mean, it's hard to believe that we have a chief's room We have We have a loyal group of Chiefs fans that come in, and we keep him away from the Raider fans. But take it. They know they have a street. They got their own room every week. Yeah, but you know what? You must have kept him really way because I didn't know they were in there. You have to sneak him in through the back door or something. I came over here with jackets on or something That's funny. They They had their own room. It was the room that Greg's mentioned it to where the big mural of Don Nelson playing poker at his place and Maui. That's with all the famous celebrities. That's that's the area where we had Yeah, when I think of the place and we used to do shows from there I not only go there socially, but we worked there. The three main sports figures, coaches that would go there a lot. Where George Karl Don Nelson. And then Jon Gruden would go there a lot. I'm ever John having that big birthday party for Mike to Rico on a Saturday night there when he came into town, so it's so tell us. Nelly was always there and George and just Tell us about those three guys and anybody else You can tell us stories about you know so big, various sports figures that would come into Ricky's Well, the funny thing about Nellie. This is back in the days when there was no league pass, and you didn't have games every other night on ESPN or TNT. So to scout scout the teams if the Warriors were playing somebody the following night. And and and the team was down in L A or wherever Denver Phoenix playing the game the night before he would come in because Ricky had the big dishes and he could pull in the feed. And he would he would come in and watch the game and he would also bring his dog along and he's been smoking a cigar inside and having a good old time And yet, George Karl came along. I know Ed Gregory used to come in sometimes. And there's pictures on the wall. I might. I probably wasn't there that time that Riley's been at Ricky's and a C green when the Lakers were in town one time and there's so many things, people With pictures around Ricky Henderson would come in a lot of times for the big night, so big fights. He was a good guy, lot of Raiders and You know it was Even some warriors came in sometimes. So it was, uh, It is a lot of lot of memories, and Ricky was so gracious to everybody and No. He treated you guys pretty well, too. I know I got to meet John a couple of times of the UFC or the big boxing matches. He was the best. In fact, I pulled this up and I know you know, but I want to read it. This is from 2005 Sports Illustrated named Ricky is the second best sports bar in all of America only behind the fours. In Boston, the says during the Oakland Raiders 13 years of exile in Los Angeles. Maybe 2 to 95 Ricky's was the Penelope of sports bars, Ricky says. We kept the torches burning all those years. We may never missed one Raiders game, he said. One time there was a game that they couldn't you guys couldn't get the frequency, he said. You rented a dish for $1000 to pick it up. And when open beat Minnesota in the Super Bowl in 77. You recorded it on three quarter inch tape and replayed it three times a day for several weeks. One afternoon, a bunch of radar players even came in tow Watch so that Z pretty awesome. What an incredible thing there to be named that Yeah, I don't know. You know all the parameters they used to grade it. I mean, it was. It was like your neighborhood bar. I mean, it didn't. It wasn't like glitz and glam, you know, like Vegas or something. Like that, but it you know the function when it was fine. It took care of the needs of the fans. And the only thing I regret, is it it seemed to get AH lot of people made it sound like if you wanted a Raider fan, it was only a Raider bar. And then that's totally was not the case at all. Because I guess that way showed all you know all 16 games 14 games on a Sunday Whatever. And and and and trip I tried to provide sound for everybody and make him feel welcome. And, ah, lot of the people that I met over the years you know, I today are still my friends. I met so many people. Um, over the years and the and the best night. So it was the night before the home games when people would come in later. Nation is worldwide. Not even just, You know, national they would have people come over from England and other places in Europe and Canada and you would meet people from all over. All over the world that that you needed to get together the night before a game home game, and that's how I met So many people. I still know today and it was just a great time in players would show up. You mentioned that was so nice. They gave up their free time. To show up on those Saturday nights. Jeff Barnes, Uh, Rod Martin would come up from l. A Derek Ramsey, right. See Ray Chester there it and then they put a lot of ex Raiders in the good old days. And they would take pictures and sign autographs and for free and they, you know great people. Remember that Saturday night when John had a birthday party for Mike to Rico, and they were all there. I mean, it was just that was like one of the greatest Raider nice that I could have a recall. And John was in such a great mood, and now he's back coaching the team. So Just before we let you go whenever I wanted to Ricky's that she Ricky right away and chain on, you know, hug Ricky and hug China and then you'd be working. How many years did you work there? And I think people thought you were like Ricky's brother. You're related to him. And so wait. When did you first meet Ricky? Well, it's funny because I moved to San Leandro. I think I don't even know what year it was. I'm going to stay late seventies eighties we we had nobody my number one sport to watch his hockey, so I was bummed out when the seals left and 76. And then he hawking stop being on ESPN. So went under some of weird network. But Ricky had the satellite dishes and I just stumbled into Ricky's. There was a sign. On his billboards. You know, a note saying hockey playoffs and and that's how I found it. And that's when a lot of people showed up back then you couldn't watch. There were no none of these passes, you know? Direct pass or center, ice or anything, so we had a lot of you know, people would show up. Boston fans. New York van Chicago fans all the transplants, and that's where I first met Ricky back then, and I was, You know, it was a customer..

"Manage the risk, but what I'm really here in have grown quite a bit in this process. Is that the deep need for the self expression and the anger, and the outward manifestation of these intergenerational abuses, being offered in this forum, and that you both using hip hop in different ways, but also to really Cremona self, esteem and expression, the feeling and the body of being like empower this up expression of being out there creating space. You know talking about your pain I've been. Helped his helped me I mean I. my kids helped me, but you guys in tremendously helped me to slow down. Listen to the verse you know. We sat down having listened to the first and the feeling, so I didn't get to rest on my. Did you hear that language? You know they would unpack it for me and say I want you to listen to it. When my son even describe as hip-hop, give you I'm going to be interviewing. What is it you know? I couldn't tell you the look that came over him, but he talked about the aesthetic the beat he talked about the lyrics, but he said these are the greatest riders of our generation, but says vote. These are the greatest raiders of our generation. They take the deepest part they put it in. They make us feel it. They talk about it in the body, and that is the school I've. I've been getting during my dishwashing so to meet you, too really talking about it from a therapeutic place and being able to get out of my little head of, but it's violent like it should be on some level. How would it not represent the culture if it didn't have deep pain? Deep Aggression is coming from what I'm hearing from. You guys is coming from a lifetime of trauma. And it sounds like you guys are really capturing that to help us. Really be able to heal trauma to really be able to move in trauma and have a voice to am I hearing accurately, and we can move into the treatment aluminium like to hear from if you. I'm sorry ruffo is going to say when she said the greatest writers of our generation I. Immediately, Iras already thinking about Kendrick Lamar. That so. Yeah I mean because he clearly is easily far and away one of the most brilliant minds and writers of our generation, and I don't even really listen to Kendrick..

"James James. I'm sorry. Mr Question is Disa- movie about I'm here. Is this a movie about Duker. Oh about joker now do we ever really see the character of joker or do we see parts things that are the character of joker. I I think there might be a couple of glimpses in the movie that are joker but now the the the first time Brian saw that he stopped and he said it really wasn't a joker movie and I said Oh so it was Kinda like if the movie was Batman begins but it stopped when at the docks when he says. Where are you in batances here if it cut the black right there? That's what this was all set up altea knees and then when you're ready for the payoff it's gone a serious a serious movie just wrapped in wrapped in a in this one to add to the comic genre. Does it work. Booker Movie Yes and no I know. Take a string her if you watch it straight and you're looking for to be the definitive origin region joker story because we've talked about how we accept multiple things on print but we watch film. "Now with that said I just wish we would want. I think everyone illumination pushing its way to one today Derek but you know the he's such a class act you know and and that's what I love about their car take away did it was physical abilities are you can do on the football field he's just a real cool humble guy class act all the way and you know I I that's why I love you want seeing this guy perform yeah in everything Derek Carr has done guys how we handled Antonio brown how we handled the losing earlier in his career I can only think of one time your car got on the bad side of raider nation and that was of course right after the Las Vegas announcement any put out on Twitter how excited he was about Las Vegas that. the best move Derek but that's the only thing I mean the fan base absolutely loves the guy and has embraced them and he is the guide now as you just said not only just personality wise but statistically you know their car you got a look at him as being one of the greatest Raiders quarterbacks of all time one interest interesting observation from today and Ben Ross ace reporter for NBC sports California I got to get your thoughts on this band as well because you're at the Coliseum a lot like me specially for the baseball games kind of interesting to know today was the last raiders game ever where the raiders are gonna have an infield dirt because their next home game is November third and even if the ETS play game seven of the World Series and Oakland that'll be before November third to kind of interesting there have been isn't that wild that they don't play another home game until I mean I know they got to give in London but again for about a month and a half not to be the calls it I think both both franchises are probably happy about that you hear both sides whining about it I'm to play baseball on the football field and play football on the baseball field and he sighed wearing it down so I'm sure no complaints on either side there and you kinda wonder why didn't they do this earlier tell let the ETS wrap up their season without too many of these interruptions they don't care about that stuff will sorry they're not look at that when I don't look at that way the NFL couldn't care less what MLB's doing and vice versa also interesting to note that I was in the chiefs dressing room locker room and their interview room and they were asked flat out to talk about the plane the raiders a final time to call CM any re did not mince words he was basically like a great rivalry we are not going to miss coming here yeah the course I mean it's a toilet bowl I'm tire stadium or you know an overflowing one yeah I'm sure a lot of you know the teams that have played in the Coliseum switch on that infielder are not going to miss it one bit I'm sure they're gonna love going out to Vegas where they can party it up on Saturday night and temp. a football once in the afternoon so we'll see how the hell road teams do there after the catch the Vegas flu keep an eye out for that yeah I mean gentleman as I was watching this raiders game my eye rolling moment so to speak is just one right after the other getting beat over the top by in the homes and bet blown coverages and just getting be and you just have to wonder Marco it's so early is this gonna be a famed for this raiders defense or did they just get my home today I think this is going to be a theme for his raiders defense because you know we look at the Monday night game you know Joe Flacco first time in sorry for Denver you know I don't think he's not he's fully comfortable with that system yet the wall as the season progresses and maybe by that date night games will have it all down and maybe general search for some points because they got you know that I felt linsey who's a great running back young running back they're gonna give negative we got to give him more touches right so I think they're on a hill they'll be alright so when the raiders face another good offense a team as good if you have a face this season it's gonna be your guy this is what this game is a microcosm especially that second quarter was a microcosm what we're gonna see the rest of the season with a defense coming up next on bay area sports route more ETS analysis from Ben Ross is a reporter from NBC sports California also touch on the forty Niners went today wow forty Niners impressive there too I know and to NO in road games none the less that's next on bay area sports rob on eight sixty eight AM the answer the radio home.

"Tolbert and Lund show and filling in for John Lund. Sports. Thank you so much for hanging out with us. Eight away came Biard is the number continuing discussion that we had a couple of minutes ago about Steph curry. The warriors beat the nuggets sixteen one or two last night Steph curry had seventeen points, and he's now fourth all time on the warriors scoring list. And we were just talking about the bay area's greatest athletes, and when it's all said and done is Steph curry going to be the bay area's greatest athlete I like to lift the Tom had a couple of minutes ago with bonds Montana rising Steph on it. What's yours? Let's go to the phones came are is the number. We'll start off with Jonathan walnut creek. Okay bureau Jonathan. I would think across the bay. If you talk Oakland, you gotta think Fung it. How long Sebastian Cousy played up the raiders all time leading for Ricky Henderson and. Eker? You know, I totally blew it on the as I missed. Yeah. Abs-? Absolutely. There's no doubt about that. The only reason I didn't think it Ray guide. Punter. So I should have thought of that Marcus Allen was a guy, but I always like an LA raider to make hard. Yeah. It's hard to give that love to the LA raiders phenomenal player. No doubt. But bay Ricky Ricky and for sure. Those guys are no brainers. Yeah. I'm thinking. Then. Yeah, we we through Freddie out there. We read boy in the discussion dead Jonathan the phone call you ever Henderson, no doubt. Ricky hitter of all time. One hundred percent go to Nick and San Bruno been waiting waiting awhile. What's up, Nick? Here's the only issue. I have is. No one's talking about who embrace the bay more than any other athlete. Definitely step. Even from here. Guys, grow up here. They don't embrace the bay. The only one that represents better than anyone else. Very. One of my favorite players forever. Built the whole. Great player. Oh, you say your us that good role. He was he was making such could roll. There was up the S, Bob. This is a little angry. It's interesting when very embraced the it seemed like amber mayors, you love the bay. I thought so too love everybody to it was interesting what he was talking about before we had to get rid of them about how much how much that. What's everybody's Willie Mays? It's more San Francisco. I mean, more New York than San Francisco think like, I'm not really talking about necessarily the the organization because if that's the case, and I'll say will. Willie? I mean, we'll we'll to warrior, but when I think of when I think of Willie Willie player in San Francisco, twenty four total, right. So the more it was more here than I thought. When I think of him, I was like New York. New York Giants not San Francisco Giants, then they played here and is eighteen to twenty two years, right? Okay. Here. Oh, man. I was way off then. Jeez. Even close the Willie Mays, obviously. Yeah. I did. I just I don't know. Why headed my head that he played more in San Francisco. I mean in New York they play in San Francisco. Yeah. My bed. Now. It's interesting though. I mean, there's just a couple of that we we skipped over. But what's that? Is that including six years in New York that include the Mets, very, wow. Yeah. Does any read a book? Up on my chief. That is awful go to. Willie McCovey in there too. Yeah. Well, that'd out. He he's he's one of those guys. So yeah, I mean, obviously Willie base to give it as one of the greatest players of all time. Absolutely. How much embracing the bait impact that though, the your view of the Jonathan was saying, sir. Guys, come out here. Don't embrace the bay. I don't know if it has much to do with if I'm rooting greatest athletes have plants. Yeah. We're keeping it simple. Like that for sure right there. So yeah. The greatest athletes in the bay area. So yeah, it would be the four mention and then Willie Mays third is Willoughby's, all right Willie. Yeah. Again, I thought he played more in New York, and I was too I did too. That's why I was rolling with you. I absolutely thought because adding the the Enron but the Mets in the early seventies. I thought he did play more new. You're absolutely right there with you. Not even close chance. Juliet Morgan hill their basement cheese. Joey. Okay. I just wanted to comment about Kevin Durant. And I know you had a really risky k when best friends being murdered. Yeah. And flying Red Eye coming back and having a few disappointments. Like, he the president guy. And I just don't think he should over think like. Over what happened last night? Yes. I'm not over thinking. I I've all we're doing as wondering if the officials look at them differently based on what happened in Minnesota when they embarrassed the officials in our the officials kind of targeting them a little bit more than they would like, I don't care. I got it. I got thrown out of a game myself. It happens. You get mad. You get upset and you're right. Maybe he had things in his mind. Ed more of a short temper than it could have had. But yeah. It's not a huge deal is just I wonder if the officials are looking at them differently now, if they are that's not a great thing. I know I totally agree with that as well. And I pretty displaying -ficiating. Well, saying look, I'm not I'm not a big fan of the officials. No matter what teams are playing. They're not. They just haven't been great this year. I gotta be honest. Good ones. And Zach Zara is one of the good ones is definitely one of the good ones. But there's a lot of guys out there in the league. It's like what are you doing? Can you please get a feel for the game? Just get a feel for what's going on out there that that. That's the biggest difference. Between officials now when I played when I played the officials all had a good feel for the game basketball. Good feel for it new at handle players handle egos and just understood the game. Now, guys. I it just it's not that way. That's just the way. It is. Thanks for the call. I it's a good question though, heading into the postseason with the final few games with the warriors. If they've got that tag. Because obviously, you don't want to be on the bad side of officials, but they are one of those teams that just got to say what they got to say. And we were talking about earlier certain individuals that are tagged with with officials on certain guys. Get calls. No more lenient with this cat alley on the other. But the team as a whole the warriors are very unique in that sense. I think they do have a Mark on him every time they tip off. It just feels like that to me does does and obviously Friday night against Minnesota doesn't help their case at all. But for me watching them all year. Just that's how I think the vibe is with this team as they hit hit the tip off. And they're under way, I think the officials are already looking out. Brian Mountain View Brown with Jagan. Hi, Kim Plunkett Heisman Trophy winner, local lychees lick. But thought you said Plunkett Plunkett. What those guys though. As raider nine on and on. And then just saying as far as the greatest that have played here in the bay area. He's maybe he's fantastic. There's no doubt about it. He's on the level staff and bonds and maize and rice and Montana. Right. Sure. I'll give you that. But I mean, we're talking like you earlier. So, you know. Some brand pre-tape. Yeah. I think we were. Because we're talking about the greatest bay area bay area athletes for some reason, it feels like you have to include a writer, you don't have to. But not just throwing Plunkett and Ray guy. Well, there's no right or on the top by their as if that's not enlist, but we're just trying to pick one from every team to see if they would make have. Would've made would've made the list from the raiders. Bo jackson. Oh, absolutely. It would have made the list got hurt didn't make lift they did this the way it is trying to think though, who would I consider. Like over the last thirty years. The greatest the greatest raider. It's gruden. It's always going to be Gruden. That's all it is. It's the groom's show me. How long that have been the mic somewhere, isn't he? Yeah. But Tim Brown's definitely on the list. I mean, these definitely right there. Not on the list lived in my lived in my neighborhood, though, Ray guys on the list. Absolutely the perfect my guy my guy. My Ray guy stabler gaining journeymen who have unbelievable yours at the rate. A couple really monstrous. Monsters years just trying to think everybody said, I can't think of all the offensive line. But but art shell for sure it'd be one of them Robert gallery you're gonna throw Robert gallery. Not throwing Robert gallery in there. Plant. I guess they going way back. That I don't I don't down the rabbit hole. Now, we are definitely going down the rabbit hole. Thank you. Walt Coleman wall combs, the greatest raider. And let's twenty. Mike, Mike Haynes. As a patriot too. So I don't know how many the patriots half and put a level at the raiders. Say if I get that Rogge again, I want to say it was close to happen half with the with the patriots and the raiders hatred. Seventy six to eighty two raiders eighty three eighty nine cane. So what six and six. Thank you got one. Right. Not bad. Sorry. Like, I got a Shane day in Leklou was incredible. For the best in the game. For like ten years average, hang time. It's ridiculous number..

"Number very good afternoon. So much for hanging out with us. Up next. Our Steve Kerr injured Bagley about the warriors win over the nuggets last night talking about Kevin Rankin tossed after X Arba was oh, I think quick with the trigger but words were uttered for sure so. Kevin durant? Got us fifteen technical of the season. And it's a one sixteen one or two final four the warriors Steph. Curry did something of note last night along with scoring seventeen points in the win. He's now fourth all time in the war. You're scoring list. Chris Mullin last night. That's a big one a huge one. That is a biggie. It's crazy to think every time we talk about Steph curry just seems like every couple of weeks. We're talking about another accolades got. Yeah. Pretty credible. Who was number number one? I mean, do they count? Philadelphia's it will like the warrior organization, it'd probably will. It'd be up there with his Ariza was up there as well as close just trying to think who else would would be up there. I mean when I think wars, Golden State Warriors. That'd be Rick Perry. I guess the Molly played here longtime points to, but he's so Chamberlain berry reason curry mullet top five. Yeah. I mean, that's quite a, but then again, it's just it doesn't shock me though. At this point with him. I mean. Seems like for me. This seems like Steph has been around for fifteen years because we're always talking about him and his name's all of these records championships. But in reality what he's done in the amount of time that he's done so far. It's so impressive. He really has transcended the game to where it is in two thousand nineteen which is look at the rest of the the league and how everyone's trying to chase this team. And I it's been the craziest ride. I can remember being a fan of any team in the bay area is what the warriors have been doing for five years. You're going to be able to make a pretty solid case. They went another championship for two. And he plays pretty much entire career here if not entire career here. Might be the greatest bay area ever. It's because he can't recant really can't will cause he wasn't here. What was part of the organization, but those Philadelphia so he wasn't. He wasn't in the bay area. I think you would you go Montana rice bonds got to be in there somewhere. Definitely in there. Absolutely in there. Sharks? Joe thorton? Greatest raiders. Of all time. You know, it's kind of I was the first person that popped into my mind was Tim Brown when he was in for a long time. But the impact that the Oakland Raiders for sure. Gray stabler stabler. I mean, the coffee can go all those guys in the seventies a lot with you. No. He's just being an ass. Right. Okay. Is is I mean, that's. That's standard operating procedure. You I think you're onto something though, when it's all said and done, I think we are going to be talking about stepping the greatest bay area athlete we've ever seen because of not only what he's done with the organization, but what he did to the sport. That gave berry was so fun to watch. I mean, obviously, we know going out there and watching match was unreal. I don't think he changed the way that the game operator while around like the the entire NBA trying to take down the warriors what they've built. And I don't think berry had that much of an impact here would be the knock against berry, and he would be right there. The top of the list the Knox against berry would be. He started his career somewhere else. Plays entire career with the giants have to include the the steroid conversation and not that it was his fault. Because it wasn't because you can't manipulate baseball. He can't basketball as one player. He didn't wanna championship with the warriors were looking at three possibly going on four. This is a guy who two time MVP, I think very seven. But again, those were with the pirates one thing very does have gone form along with his greatness. Obviously was he's from grew up here. Right. I mean, he was like giant from the time. He was born. He was a giant. And then ended up being having his greatest years with the giants. But there's no doubt the way this is going to be the greatest gold state warrior of all time pass wilt for warrior of all time pass, Rick Barry, and those guys great as Rick was he will be the greatest warrior. There's no doubt in my mind. And I think if I'm if I'm bay area. Athletes the greatest that the. The top four to me would be bonds Montana rice in Steph. Those those would be the four Joe is going to be there. They went to championship down, San Jose. And he's a former MVP a hall of Famer he would certainly be in that mix. A lot of raiders I'm not thinking because a lot of the best raiders were often linemen and defensive lineman. Great line. No, you're absolutely right. Right. Like art shell was you don't really think of like offensive linemen like is like the greatest athletes. I know but like. Great Willie Brown was fantastic. But they're dead. Great players, but not to that not to that level. And like. Steve young. It'd be the next down. It'd be it'd be right there as well. The hall of Famer great quarterback. But yeah, I think I think Montana rice bonds and curry. Ultimately like look at the pretty good force to think about. Garg? You be the best quarterback of all time. Not arguably the greatest receiver of all time. One of the greatest hitters grits. Baseball players of all time and gonna go down as one of the greatest basketball players of all time because. You hit on it. We've talked about it forever. He was part of the revolution. And he took it to the next level that no one else can really get to Dame a little bit like him. And that he has that crazy range kills off the dribble from anywhere guys. Spot up jump shooters a lot of guys can shoot through the dribble. But usually fairly close to the line. These guys are just like all over the court, and they always distort the court 'cause you're not used to guarding somebody that far out, and it just everyone has to guard more real estate it's tougher to guard those guys and tougher to guard the teams they play on. But there's not a lot of guys that can do it. He does. And but but it's a different game now because of those types of players that are just crazy shooters, and he'll definitely go down the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA when you think about range and accuracy because he's shooting forty percent from three shooting like eleven twelve game not four or five three's a game. He's amazing is absolutely. Amazing and. I would say Barry was the only one out of those four who coming into baseball. He was expected to be great like he was expected to be a great player because you know, is relationship does dad, obviously. Willie Mays and just that just and I know it wasn't like his dad was like, they're teaching them all this stuff because he said it, you know, that's playing and all this stuff out of just thought. Okay. This guy's pretty good by the time. I mean, I didn't know him was on a state and you saw good. He was like, okay. This guy. Montana was supposed to Montana. I don't know that anybody thought rights was supposed to be rice at Mississippi valley state, right? And Steph was supposed to be what Steph is out of you know, Davidson and all of a sudden you looking damn. It's hard. When you think about it? I mean, you could put together four five guys from a lot of different cities. But those four. I mean, you're talking about be Steph probably not at that level. We consider him the greatest point guard of all time. But he's getting there. He's getting there where you're thinking. This guy is going to be one of the greatest of all time again varies arguably one of the greatest hitters of all time and rice of Montana. They're speak for themselves quarterback receiver something interesting that you said as far as putting bonds in that list was was obviously didn't wanna championship. What do you think? Anybody on this in this giants core could replace bonds on this because of the championship? I mean, just what they did for the city the organization the championships like Posey or Olympic or Bumgarner. And the impact that they've had on the city because I've always felt this entire life is as far as being from the bay area. San Francisco loves the most important position in sports in the bay area. My opinion is the quarterback for the forty Niners. San Francisco Giants town and those World Series, and what they did for the city was unbelievable. None of those guys you mentioned anywhere near as great as Barry Bonds. Beloved players. Yeah. Any giant? That that I know of that's more beloved. Let's go. Most beloved China the last three or four decades that people love that kid still do kids. Love him love that guy. Timmy show up every once in a while come around come on the show, by the way love to have you love. What does he up to? What are you doing back know what he's still gonna join plan fever, definitely wanna hang out? Frenchie? But no I mean, but the key was. It was like a comet for lake if you years two Cy Young. Forget what was that that I came up with. I didn't come up with it. I looked at I actually researched them for like ten seconds but him and sandy Colfax or the only two pitchers in baseball history to Cy youngs. Two World Series two. No hitters is. I think that's what it was. Eight years ago. Beers between than. But I'm pretty sure that's what Dan guys that have done that wildly World Series two Cy youngs. Two. No hitters. I mean when he came when he came aboard, it was obviously after bonds, and there was that gap that everyone was figuring out. How how we're gonna fill the bonds. Void came aboard. That was I agree with you the last fifteen years ten fifteen years, I think he's one of probably the most beloved giant ten let's give me to be like if I can go back fifteen years or you one pitching matchup that I could see guys in their prime as a lot of great pitchers in baseball. One pitching matchup that I could add to pay money to go watch, and I can give both guys in their prime. Gimme compared to Martinez matchup. Oh, that's that'd be a man for that. One. Little dudes who are filthy. It could just firing ring it. I'm in for that. Because let's.
