"An upset, but honestly, almost five seed crate and taking on 12 UCSB Westwood, one NC double a radio network Now to say Aroused you first team All Big East player at the left wing wants to drive gets bumped fires for Bishop and the reverse slam that they may laminate it all the hot 59 58. Rating the lead Rio three to go, Christian Bishop going reverse. You don't see that Austin Christian was terrific to play as much as he played enough to exert the energy had he had to defensively to get the dunk late. And then the two big free throws this fatigue to see it was is really a credit to the work that he's put in and the great condition that he's in double team stepped through. Find so mid lane, he rises and rips it out. Rebound. Creighton with two and that is gonna do it very likely 1.5 to go. Mamadou So was right on the welcome mat. He coulda rang the doorbell of the basket and he lifted out weigh a little lucky. They missed a layup down at the other end. And it takes a little bit of luck sometimes to advance in this tournament. Great Blue Jays if they'd a disaster in the first round, 63 62 by inches on the sole miss late in regulation, Grayton advances 63 62 in a white knuckle ride on a roller coaster and indeed The biggest Turney runner ups narrowly avoided the upset 63 to 62 market. "Well, the one I'm jump. That is the easy one. But I really like to match up. 89, Oklahoma and Missouri got line Kruger's team from the big 12. They wins. At one point. They beat Kansas, Texas and Alabama in a row. But they had some ups and downs. Which team is gonna be there going against console Martin out of the SEC in Missouri? Similar. How about this run? He beats organ, which Utah State Liberty and Illinois in a row and two teams that have shown what they're capable to do in there from big conferences, veteran coaches, I think that's a great matchup. That's what an 89 should be. Jimmy, What about you? Well, what stands out to me, and I just had him is Creighton. Uh, and also Santa Barbara. You know the 5 12 always and the reason why I say that because Creighton is one of those scenes when they get together and they play and they play well in conference you like Oh, can they really played? I think they have the potential to be a sweet 16 team because they shoot the ball well, multiple players with Mahony also Damon Jefferson. They could put it on the deck. But those three players Mahoney Jefferson and also ballot didn't have great into the year and also Big East tournament that they turn it on. Because the team like U. C. Santa Barbara, they can be one of those dangerous teams that can get to the sweet 16. If they begin to start hitting shot, And they will be looking to make the second weekend for the first time since 1974 but a long time coming for the Great Blue Jays and again Kansas send Virginia both having to back out of their conference tournaments, but in the same region is the three and four in the West. When we return, who's the top seed in the South? And what will it look like? Fill you in when we come back from the Westwood one and see a radio network? This is selection Sunday. "He was surprised. Also was waiting for the foul. What were you looking for? I was looking for him to pass the ball. He was holding it as the defense double team him. And then he held the ball above his head. That's the exact wrong thing you want to do when you're double to get rid of it. The Ottoman Yeah, it under well so far, five second call most. He wanted to get fouled because he wanted to get the free throw because he wanted the points at the line for a one on one opportunity. Bends his knees. Freshman releases in it is no good rebound. Think about the great Blue Jay 16. Seconds to goes every leading 77 69 14 seconds ago. Zeca Rasky top of the key working behind the screen rises up fires A three. It is no good rebound taken by Jefferson at the Mahoney. He fires the three. That's no good rebound, taking my Freeman with two seconds to go. And a free man who was found zero win This ball game is Fremantle walks together, end for a couple of shots 77 to 69 in the crowd that was allowed in here. They said it was 922. But I believe it's larger than that. And they had a wonderful time. This evening Late afternoon into the evening, here is the Musketeers with 1.3 seconds to go. Leading the great Blue Jay 77 to 69. It definitely feels like a couple 1000 here in Santa Center. It's so loud. Free throw hits, the back of the flames bounces around, falls out rebound taken by frightened they have nowhere to go with it. There is the horn that Xavier Musketeers have knocked off the crane Blue Jade's in a huge win for the Xavier Musketeers, 77. 69. Xavier Byron had intensity and energy from the very beginning of this ball game, and they did not relent. So huge is not the word. I mean, they needed this in the worst way, and they went out there and got it. Credit Travis still from the way they perform versus Providence, to the way they performed today was $180 similar ends of the floor. Love how they played their defensive, energy held greatness. 69 points 10 off of their average Xavier offense and reconnected with 77. "Xavier's leaders 67 59 odor brings it across the timeline with 4 55 to play in the second half. Hire the right point working against a man to man defense. Carter with it on the left point. Is it up total working behind a screen from Fremantle? Fremantle has the top of the key hands it off the Kunkle over told him into the corner right side to Carter back, told him along the baseline. Drives into the paint the ball's knocked out of bounds last touch. My Ballack. Ballack argued with the official that it was awful musketeer he's still talking doing. The official was pretty emphatic it savior's basketball save real inbound the ball along the baseline right of the bucket. All scrubs will be the man to toss it in. Safety officials having a word back a ballot now ballot walks away into the corner. Disengage for 37 to go Xavier with the ball leading 67 to 59. Maybe one of their out of bounds. Play to Kunkle catches fires up a 15 footer on the baseline. No good rebound taken by the Great Blue Jays. McConnell Brink make it Zachariah Ski brings it across the timeline. Totally shot is blocked by the one who comes and who asked you to look like he had him for a moment, one airborne with it, but over just launched himself and blocked it. With his left hand. The layup was attempt on the right side. Knock that abounds. The ball will go to the crate in Blue Jays with 4 26 to go. Autumn is competing at a high level. A big time blocked there and down along the right baseline wide open in the corner. Baylock catches fires a three and an out no good rebound tip to the free throw line controlled by Jefferson. He drives it down the lane and dunks it on the right side. Save your lead. 67 61 before 16 to go. His neighbor has to answer here Creighton is going is starting play with great in desperation mode. Xavier's got to play with that same energy on the offensive end. Fremantle. Top of the key gives it up totem. He's between the circles working against a man to man defense policy drugs with it outside the three point arc near the right side of the floor goes up in the air. Can't get rid of it. It's taken out of his hands. Went up. He had nowhere to shoot a steal by ballot. He drives hard, lays it up and in for two, and Xavier's leaders of 4 67 63. Travis deal. I think they want a time out. Will tra fires the three off the iron, No good rebound taken to the free throw line by the big man called Runner for the Great Blue Jays. A drive down the right side of four ziggurat ski. He draws the foul misses the shot and I believe he was found that time by autumn. Autumn is accepting the challenge of the preseason player of the year who plays the same position. That time he got to realize that that he picked up ziggurat ski too late, Joe The garage Key had a full head of steam and old and picked him up, but believe the free throw line Zeca Rosky just had too much momento. Check around skis. First free throw is no good. He's a 78% free throw shooter. He walks away. Zach around ski does out of the top of the key almost to the half Court line puts his hands on his hips. Just one out of four that Xavier Musketeers there, four out of four from the free throw line. Don Xavier is able to create this lead because it's starting on the defensive end. They like with it into the high post of bishop back to the right wing. Second, Rasky with it backs it away from the three point arc with the drivel. Lost the top of the key of past the Mahoney. "Joe Son, German and Byron Larkin. Hello, everyone and welcome to Santa's Center on the campus of Save University and Cincinnati, Ohio. Tonight in the Big East matchup. The Xavier Musketeers Val the 11th ranked Grayton Blue Jay as the season winds down, the Musketeers have lost three out. Their last four games are in in our in somewhat of a tailspin, main areas of concern that head coach Travis stealing his staff must get corrected. In order to stabilize themselves, three point shooting and their defense of effort. Now I believe their defense can be improved. With more awareness and more effort. The three point shooting is a little bit more problematic because their best three point shooter Nate Johnson has been out with an ankle injury and now Right before the game. It was announced that he's out for the rest of the season, so the other shooters haven't had enough success, while others haven't had enough opportunity. That being, said Joe, their destiny is there and in their own hands with three games to go, in the words of out Davis from the L. A Raiders. They just need to find a way to just win baby Great Blue Jays or 17 and five on the season 13 and four in the Big East, currently in second place behind Filling over the Xavier Musketeers or 12 and 55 and five and Big East play it in fifth place in the league right now, Byron The Musketeers are losing 11 points per ballgame from Nate Johnson. Most recently he's been going for 14 points a ballgame. Where did they find it? Well, Joe, they're gonna have to dispense it through other guys. I look for a guy like Adam Kunkle. To step up in a big way. I mean, he's got some experience. He's a junior. Hey, last three games Joe. He's just he hasn't been able to make shots at a high enough level. He's got total a little eight points in the last three games. He's three for 17 to 12 from behind the three point line. No free throw attempts in those games show so he needs to be a lot more aggressive and not just settle for threes. Hey, had seven points in the last time these two teams met. Also, I look for CJ will try to have a bigger opportunity. He just comes in and just scores when he plays. I'd like to see him play more. And then Kiki Tandy joke. They're going to need him more than ever. Coach has been talking about him improving and him earning plan time. Let's see of him if Travis Rewards him. Xavier Musketeers taking on the crate in Blue Jays. This is that you create pregame show and you're listening to Xavier basketball from where I feel. I am Jay College on 700 wlw. And Graydon left about 23 minutes. Where's Avery left? For about 15 minutes of this basketball game, Joe. It was a close game and the stats bear that out. You know the one stat where you see the big difference, and you pointed at Xavier, just getting to the free throw line seven times making five. Meanwhile, 20 attempts by the Great Blue Jays, making 14. It's really Maybe we're the game was decided. Dilly Bistro, located in the heart of Mary Mon, closed on Sundays. You know, both these teams average a ton of points that number one and two teams in the Big East. But the same time this has been a real defensive struggle. We have 7 54 to go. Favorite trailing by 3 54 51 of Xavier confined there shooting stroke. Somewhere in the last seven minutes here, they could pull this thing out and you know when the same thing to be said for the Great Blue Jays, both teams have struggled from the field. Great with the basketball Dr Henry. Seconds by Bishop. They didn't call it is he did the 3 60 inside, finally shuffled the ball out to the perimeter deep into the corner of three is on the way by ballot. No good rebound taken by Zach Fremantle just under the free throw line. I'll give it to his point guard Paul Scruggs back into the ballgame. Scruggs at the top of the key left side of the four threes on the way it's off the island. I was taken by Johnson, Fremantle. With the rebound left hand hook shot in and out, no good. They will whistle and a foul called and that is going to go against Zach on Bill Ben Stanley's acting like this. I didn't see much of that there. That's a tough, tough break. They're Yeah, they're gonna call Ben Stanley, where offensive rebound will be found Open to rebound. 16 foul The musketeer 7 23 to go 54 51 crate with the basketball. Is that his fourth, so Fremantle with four fouls was seven tend to go just about have to keep the ball game. Yeah, Joe, you have to. It's got six points in the game. Only one Xavier player in double figures, and that's Nate stand. That's a Nate Johnson with 10 points. They should free throwing away rims out. No good. So it'll stay a three point lead Carter into the ballgame. Jason Carter now when he's in, he's gotta stay within himself. Don't try to create off the dribble he came in for Stanley are still going was at Freeman. Second free throw on the way from Bishop it. "Bye, Cobi Jones into the lane. But it's Snared by a Creighton basketball players now across the timeline, the low post a bishop, those upper left him jump hook, and he's found on the play over Stanley, and that's just power basketball right there. Bishops really good at that. He shoots 74% from the field. That's number one in the Big East, and he's three for seven in this one. He got the ball Joe when he makes that power dribble to the left. And he gets you right in front of the basket. You're gonna finish. He's gonna finish every time there's a technical foul called on the crate in Blue Jays gonna call it on on Bishop. It was probably Wolf in Ft. Made after he made a bucket. So that'll send Johnson the line to shoot two has just made his first exit. 53 47 2nd free throw from Johnson on the way front of the rim backboard for the front of the rim again through the strings calendar. Savior of trails 53 48. They just showed a bishop was after he made a bucket and kind of flexed and was screaming and Ben Stanley's face. Just want him to just shut up and play man. Should always gotta tell you about it, and the fishes got on for the left hander fires. His free throw completes his three point play, and Xavier trails 54 to 48. Exactly nine minutes to go, is And he brings it across the timeline gives it up to Stanley High on the left point. Now, Johnson has it working on the right side of the floor for free mental back to the left side of the Florida Jones Fremantle cuts to the bucket gets a return pass from Cobi Jones tries to Duncan, but he's found heavily. Ballack and that'll send free men on the line to shoot, too. That was a nice Handoff on the look like a pick and roll and sort of a fake, picked by Freeman or what you say. Then he just released and went to the hoop in a nice pass from the freshman. He slipped us the ball, screen said instead of sending, and he just kind of slipped to the basket, there was a good pass. Show that play he's been they blocked that shot multiple times in the game. Exactly man who misses the first free throw, but that time Zach protected the ball when he received it and attack when he was attacking the basket. Second free throw all the way. It is good free man who now has seven points of the ball game for the musketeer. Xavier trails by 5 54 to 49 with 8 43 to go. Cheers back in the man to man defense bollocks with a top of the key to Jefferson. We'll give it the Mitchell. He drives the lane is he turns the corner and a finger roll. That question is, Will it count? It did go through the strings. There was a foul at the free throw on it was on the floor. Great. We'll take the ball out of bounds underneath Xavier's basket That will be the fourth team found the Musketeers. This half great also has been called before possession Arrow, by the way, favors the Musketeers break him down the basketball on the right baseline. After the right wing. Now it's taking to the point by Mitchell, keeping the dribble lives now, like with those it along the left sideline to Jefferson, about the ballot tries to drive turned back by freshman Jones out toe tag around ski. He turned the corner kicks it to the right side wide open. Three is on the way. It's off the iron and the rebounds taken by Kiki Tandy. That shot was put up Jefferson for the Great Blue Jays. Candy brings it across the timeline, turns his back to his defender. Now over to Stanley, He drives hard on this man throws up a jump hook shot over, Bishop. My goodness, That was a nice looking shot, Joe. He's left handed. Been Stanley. He's grated drive into the bucket. With that, left and like making contested shots over extended hand savior has pulled within three, trailing 54. 51 freemantle was He just called for a technical on a belief, so no, he was just called forever. "He's the lead played around the league that sabers in every game is good. Every game is an interest, a lot of great players and awful lot of great basketball to watch. It is Joe. I mean, the Big East Conference is his tremendous. I think it's there's a lot of parody this year with Creighton and Villanova. The preseason Top, But then everyone else's is kind of a month together and anything can happen. So you know Villanova seven in one, but they lost. Thea other day two of Virginia Tech team That is not very good, eh? So there's just a lot of parody and in college basketball and in this league and Creighton No, they market came to all my home, beat them on their own floor. They were they were actually create was up by eight in the first half hour at halftime. Market was able to kind of get back in it so and come away with the victory of to give creating their only loss in the conference. So maybe Xavier can kind of do the same thing here, even though they're only down two. Xavier led for most of the first half to see what they could do to reestablish their momentous Xavier. Get the ball to start the second half. Scruggs Jones Johnson Carter Freeman on the floor for the Musketeers into the high post. Carter with it. Drives down the lane feeds the Fremantle in this shot is blocked from behind, trying to left him lay up in a defender from behind, able to squat it off the glass, creating with the basketball. Xavier sets up there, man to man defense That can't happen, Joe, You cannot get your shot blocked from behind. Once you get the ball in the paint a drive to the right baseline by Ziggurat Ski did a great job. Walking like he was going to stop the drive entirely. Go to the free throw line but is full objective was to go back to the baseline or finger off the glass. It's the first to the second half. That'll give Kreitner largest lead to the ball game at 4 38 to 34 Musketeers, working against the man to Man defense on the perimeter. Hey, Johnson penetrates to the free throw line because it up the Carter. He backs his way in, picks it outside the Freeman. I'll drive to the free throw line to Carter left corner threes on the way off the iron. No good. I should rather shot clock on that a little bit. "Are Joe son German Had Byron Larkin scored halftime. A great Blue Jays 36 to save your Musketeers. 34 welcome back to Republic Bank broadcast. Well, Joe the issue for Xaver this this half is their scorn. They started out hot out the gates. They were seven out there 1st 10. But as the game went on, it seemed like it was harder and harder. For them the score. They finished the half over their last seven and they haven't scored in over five. The last five minutes of the first half. And a lot of it is because Zach Fremantle Has not been on the floor. He's not played a lot because of foul trouble. He only got eight minutes in the first half. He had two points. When he was in there. The Musketeers were rolling. If you look at the plus minus neighbor was, plus 10. When he was on the floor s Oh, they're going to need him toe to somehow find a way to get back into this game. He's got two files. Trying the other big story, Xavier, just we're not. We're not effective enough. Offensively, Um Stanley had three points. He bobbled a couple passes. Brian Griffin bubbled two or three passes. That should have been easy buckets. I think the more that the big struggle, the harder it is going to be for the perimeter jokers. You had talked about it at the break that it seemed like Creighton started changing up the way their plans Xavier on the perimeter. They're really trying to smother the guards when they start to drive, almost double team on the team in the mud times. And they was trying to drop it off to their bigs. But their bigs have to be able to finish and if they do that Xaver will be in better, better position to kind of fight off off Creighton. In the second half. No, Xavier's defense was good enough in the first half. I believe you hold a team that's averaging 85 points a game. The 36 points in the first half. I think it's not bad. Scored half time. "Paying jobs in health care. Manufacturing, engineering and more, apply in 60 seconds or less and put your town to work with rolling on the floor for the Musketeers, Grubs, Jones, Johnson, Griffin and quarter Lot of players have been using this ballgame by both both coaches for Shinjo both and both benches have been impactful. Xavier's got nine points off the bench and Creighton Has 10 looking at scoring. Johnson leads all scorers for the Musketeers with eight Kiki Tandy, six points off the bench. Kunkle has three free men on to Carter for him, Paul Scruggs. Has five Cobi Jones at the line to shoot two looking for his first points of the afternoon. Two free throws on the way and it is no good heavy off the iron factory. He catches it with his right hand the same hand, he shot a handy shot it with his. It bounced heavy off the back plans, and this is his first road game as a freshman Joe This is the biggest crowd that sabers played in front of 1800 people. They play here, it Xavier there, you're used to playing in front of around 302nd free throw on the way and in front of the rim and rolls through, so it goes one for two. So Colby Jones is in the Book. Now it was one point the ballgame. Xavier leads by 7 29 22, Xavier's largest. Leaving this half was 13 savior selling some little bit of pressure, Byron. Yeah, they're extending pressure about three quarter court. They usually look like to do this and fall back into his own second or ask you with the ball top of the key right side of the floor. Mahoney back out the sac around ski. He calls for a screen takes of the left side of the floor. Top of the key a jumper on the weight and it is drained. Okay? That was Jefferson at that for To just inside the top of the key phrase really patient against the Musketeers defense that time he's got eight points, And that actually was Jones. He averages seven points a game. Joe, he's He's got eight so far a drive and then a quick pass into Griffin and Griffin is he tried to gather himself was found by Mahoney. See what they say is in the act of shooting or not, I don't believe so. They went down the basketball along the left baseline is Avery needs to get their bigs more involved in Carter. Check that Griffin is not done much offensively. Got a couple rebounds, but they've got advantage down there. They gotta take advantage of supposed today. Johnson, He fires up a jump hook shots. It's no good as it rolls off Rebound ripped off by the Great Blue Jays. Xavier's leaders at 5 29 24 6 36 to go Jefferson drives the right sideline passes a deep into the left corner, and we've got a whistle and a foul prior to the past. That will be on Jason Carter at 17 fouls for Xavier. Only two team fouls. Creighton and that'll start to pray to the free throw line with 6 31 to go in the first half, creating a good free throw shooting ball club. Jefferson shoots about 50% from the line. He's nine for 18 coming into the game because these are his first attempts, free throws on the way and no good,.

"Right there on the floor. Yeah, they are ziggurat ski. He is. He's like I need Energizer Bunny. I mean, he is He never stops He's got, uh An unending dribble. I mean, he will continue to probe and continue to test you on the corners and try toe turn up. Turn the corner against you puts a lot of pressure on you as a defensive player. A lot of pressure from the officials because there's so much contact he he runs the contact and he understands angles and He's a tremendous player, Joe and again that he's the leading scorer in returning Leni's corn. The Big East averages. 16 points a game last year's averaging 14 this year and five assists that ship it 67 will jump against Fremantle at 69. The officials bounce the ball a few times walking between them. On the ball is tossed in the first possession belonged to the Great Blue Jay. Bring it across the timeline Ziggurat ski dress over to the left point between the leg journalist which is the ball to his right hand. Now top of the key Jefferson with it picked up by Cobi Jones. Jefferson drives down to the baseline, shoots his shots partially blocked picked out of the air by the Musketeers. Scrubs will bring it across the timeline. Left side of the floor. Dribbles of the right elbow, picks it outside Cobi Jones Open for three. Let's to fly No good Jefferson with the rebound for the great Blue Jays, they bring it quickly across the timeline. Cobi Jones was not didn't hesitate. He just let it go. It's a good shot. He needs to continue to take that into the corner. Ballot with it takes it to the top of the key throws a deep into the right corner. Three is on the way and it is good and that is Jefferson deep into the corner on the left side hits the three for the first score of the ballgames. Bring it up Crate. Blue Jays 1914 to play in the first half Cobi Jones working on the left side of the floor. Carter coming at the set a screen, But Jones gets rid of the ball before that conform up right side of the floor at the Jones back outside. The three pointer is on the way from the Johnson and we're tied at three Egypt or a nice pump fake It's a nice save by Zach Freeman. Oh, good to see Nate Johnson get his first three pointer to go down the drive down the lane kickback upside debate. Lock into the corner. Three is on the way. It is no good that was taken by Bishop rebound, taking left to the bucket. Jason Carter for the Musketeers. Crunch brings it Across the timeline, switches the ball left hand to spend move feeds inside the Carter one dribble, Reverse layup, bouncing on the river and through the strings. Good for two Xavier, his jumped on top by 2523 18 21 to play. One of the first half. What a beautiful pass by Paul Scruggs. Joe. He threw two defenders and just dropped it over his shoulder. Jason Carter was able to finish the reverse layup. They bring a man to man defense. Paul Scruggs, forcing Zechariah ask you to give the ball up. Baylock has the top of the key. Back the Mahoney elbow jumper on the way. No good rebound taking by the Musketeers freshman Cobi Jones. He brings it across the timeline right side of the floor, which is the ball with left hand throws it to the right wing. Fremantle within 10 ft. From the basket, spins baseline, pushes up a hook shot rolls across the river and falls off. No good rebound, taking it tossed after adding around ski, and he tries to penetrate. Put a double team that's good defense job by Jason Carter there Carter did a good job keeping. He was moving his feet. Cobi Jones. He got by Cobi Jones and Kobe kind of let him go by and smack the ball from behind. That caused the first turnover by Creighton Musketeers with the ball with two point lead, 17 30 to play.

"Save your basketball is on the air Brought to you by skyline Chili Feeling good Its skyline time. This is the Ukraine pregame show. Now here are Joe son, German and Byron Larkin. Welcome back to the Ukraine pregame show. I'm Joe Sunderland, along with Xavier's head coach Travis Steal this afternoon. Xavier's on the road to take on the Creighton Blue Jays and coach senior Paul Scrubs has been named Big East Player of the week. 29 points versus market. Six assists, four rebounds, three steals. And it's his third straight 20 point scoring game. He's been incredible me look at the consistency that he's playing with the decision making, you know he's impact in the game and a lot of different ways for us defensively, rebounding, passing, scoring, You name it. I mean, he's playing like the best guard in the Big East right now. We need that to continue, but his will that he kinda imposes on the game is obvious. Put your bench. It's just describe. It is a powerful bench and no better example that Adam's uncle's performance against Marquette? Yeah, We got a lot of different guys. You know, again, It's gonna be different guys. Different nights. Adam had the hot hand. We rode with him at the very end. Um, he played great. You know, and again, he just has to get his feet wet. I told him after After the Oklahoma game in the U. C game. I said, Hey, listen, You've gotta get your rhythm. He's gotta get in there and get you kind of flow back and he got that flow back. I know there's a loud and clear against Marquette Man because he gets adds a different dimension to our team. It just seems exceptional. A lot of different ways. You're eight. No, it's early in the season. But there's certain things that stand out even how your team reacted to the cove at 19 Protocol with your team was out for a number of days. I thought they'd have a harder time adjusting to that gap in and practice and so forth. Might've been resting for five minutes or so. But they picked it up pretty quickly again. You credit that to the chemistry of the team or just the depth or all the above. I think all the above, man. We got a nun selfish group. Our ball really, really moves well, and I thought I knew like in practice leading up to market. I was like, man, Our offense looks really good. Still, our defense I felt like took a big step back. You could tell like just you become your habits right when you don't practice It's like all of a sudden it's like man, not chopping your feet and close out going for shot fakes, not jump into the ball, and it's like man. I felt like our defense really got pushed back. But our offense is really good about Ben Stanley. Zale was really plays. 45 minutes against Marquette grabs a couple rebounds on Di Know his role. I believe it'll expand. What does he mean to your ball club? Yeah, He's a really good player, you know, like again. He's kind of being thrust it out there. Um, coming out of quarantine to try to figure it out. You know he had been on scout team for the last month. And you know I hadn't had to remember is that kind of how we play, but he could really score. He could rebound. He's tough. I think he's gonna add a heck of a lot to our team. You've talked about rebounding an awful lot this year and how important it is to the second success of your ball club. Musketeers were getting it done on the glass. Yeah, it's not the size, you know, it's like that. It's you can't measure the size of your heart man. Like who's gonna be more physical? Who's gonna move guys back? He's gonna be discipline to block out every single time and our guys are really fighting on the glass and your opponent this afternoon, the crate in Blue Jays average 85 points a game, they can really light up the scoreboard. What is their magic on the offensive end? This their pace of play transition. I mean, they're incredible. They shoot the ball at four spots at all times over 40% from three. Their ball movement player movement is elite. Market. Zeca Rosky Great player. He's terrific officer preseason Conference player of the year. He's as good as any garden, entire country, but he can score you could make guys better. He's like the maestro for them defensively, what we expect from the Blue Jays. We're gonna play man to man. You know, the very scatting specific. Um, but, you know, they'll play man to man. They'll scramble around. You know, I think we can. I think we can get to get the ball movement against those guys. Always like to get a couple of keys from your coach. What do you have for me? I'd say, number one transition defense. We gotta make them run half court offense and then I think Number two. We have to have disciplined close outs. We can't We gotta stay away from those long close outs. We gotta stay down on shot fakes, You know, so that's critically important. All right. Good luck this afternoon. Thank you. This is the Ukraine Pregame show up Next The Xavier Musketeers and the Great Blue Jays on 700 wlw. Gathering together standing side by side, staying close to comfort one another. We do this when times get tough, and right now we can't but we can still help one another. It.

"Be on baseball tonight. Shabby the legend Gordon north of the border this week in his duties play by play man for ESPN. You got the Yankees, you got the Toronto OJ's. Look, the Yankees are playing great Blue Jays have some really interesting young players. What are you looking forward to seeing on Thursday night in your broadcast? I on the Blue Jays side. You know, it starts with their they're younger guys, like especially with, you know, video and Guerrero. Those are the two that, you know that I'll be Jackie out, you know, they they struggled to score. There's no question. They there last year you can be and they've struggled to runs that aboard. But they may have talent that coming, including another son of a big leaguer in Boba shit, and I yeah. I think that I'm intrigued to see what when this position players reaches their apex, sort of what it, what it looks like on the Yankee side, it's been pretty impressive. What they've been able to do. You know, I'm someone Wester who always feels as though. We. Overstay the damage that a single injury can do to a team. Like, I think that teams are always able to recover from an injury to a single player. No matter the caliber of player. No matter the caliber player better than what we end -ticipant. We always overstate it and the Yankees are or proof of that, and they they've done a really good job. And the one other thing that I would add on the Yankees is. And this is a larger topic that I know interest, you. But if you look at what the dodgers have done since Andrew Friedman took over, I'm gonna give you the number think it's right. It's in the general ballpark, but I believe that he is used. They didn't use the big league level. At least fifty two players every season that he has been running their baseball ops. And then the previous history of the dodgers, they had done back once and the point is putting together a roster all not one to twenty five. It's gotta be one before of optional talent of let's be honest, manipulating the injury list and teams like Milwaukee have gotten into that at alternately Brian Cashman, that's put together. A roster not a one to twenty five but of one to forty that is allowed them to sustain these injuries. And I think that, that's a really interesting component of, of what the Yankees have done. Yeah, it's interesting because Brian Cashman started as Yankees general manager back with George Steinbrenner was running the team. And they were as old school is any team for years and years and years. But I think after the Red Sox, we're under the guise if the web steam Brian began to argue with George about, hey, we gotta get modern. And now there is a as modern analytically. There is regressive analytically as any team in baseball, and I would agree with you. I bet you Brian's been watching, what the dodgers are doing and saying, hey, we want to do the same thing. And we're seeing that play out this year. I got one more question about the Yankees want to ask you. But before we get to that, I saw you on over the weekend, and you just seem so happy with how your event turned out, you can get a chance to talk to you over the weekend. Tell us about how it played out. It was really cool. I mean, we just had a we had a really great night, you know, and raises over a couple of hundred thousand dollars to help people living with a ls. We had a really cool. Auction party on Thursday night. One of the things at the end, you know, to New York face events and a couple of the jets coaches were there, including Greg Williams and they, they added kind of a live Abed, basically just if you know, I mean, we had some suggestions in attendance, and they've got it all assets Brian Cashman donated his his Bach. And I was excited because my, my buddy, Mike Parker donated a really cool item. It's been skelly sign media guide from his final year as a broadcaster. And so he got that to me for for auction and I ended up paying a pretty penny for it. But you know as, as a big broadcaster, I just thought, man, this would be a pretty cool thing to. Oh, I one that I was I was it was money well spent, and it was just a really a really cool night. We get to the autumn. My friends. Some she he and, and help people live with I L S. It was cold. I don't know if this was a silent auction or something done in private, but it because it was done in a bunch of in front of a bunch of people. I got follow up and, and your money's being going is going to charity. How much did you wind up paying for it? I've paid eighteen hundred dollars for nice. See that. That's awesome. What do you think? Josh? I love that. Hey, it's, it's, it's cool. And it's for a good cause so why the hell not. Yeah, exactly. Well. It was really cool. It was it was really a great night. And I appreciate the appreciate the support. And and you know, just around the game, I've just, you know, so many people have participated in it's, it's, it's been really cool. Hey, I want to the other thing we were talking about the Yankees, you talked about analytics that it just stuck in my head. You what I always have these conversations because we're always like going around trolling for information, and there's no one better than you. But I went up to Cameron Maimon and with the Yankees that I asked him about when he first got to the Houston Astros, and he told me great story about their, then I think system, hitting time Alonzo Powell before they ever swung a bat. He sat with hammer maven was like, okay, what pitchers hit? Well, camera maybe said, well, low away. I'm really good. You know hitting. The pitch low and away in a while pound gave him. The data was like, yeah, you're not good at that, that you his bits of this, that you need to be hunting pitches middle in. That's what you really hit. Well, like me. He didn't know and so the point being two things. One always interesting, some players Chipper Jones. It'd be one really do know that, you know how they did against individual guys all the time and, and what their strengths and weaknesses necessarily are. But a lot of them, don't you can't hide all the data. It's really hard. But the broader point BUSTER was, I asked him, compare the Yankees and their use of data and analytic to the Astros. And he said that the Yankees, it's Saturday even greater level even higher level. No. They, they sit there. And we'll tell us you know so many different little pieces of details up to in the hitters meetings. Hey so and so's behind the plate. Vizo Ona's big three strikes. You probably gotta protect a little bit more than normal. You just little things like that. So, you know, this is where he ranks intrinsic cold strike percentage, especially away to writings, blah, blah, blah. But he said I asked him to compare the two and, and that's not was not a any way day like that was he was elevated both those teams. So I just wanted to share that with you, because I thought it was interesting. We'll be back with more of the baseball tonight podcast on ESPN radio after this. I.
