We're going to get this trading week started with Dennis gartman, former publisher of the gartman letter. First though S&P futures are down 13 points down futures down 93, NASDAQ futures are lower by 27 points following the surge in Asian shares that we saw overnight on signs that China could be moving even further away from COVID zero restrictions looking forward to getting Dennis's take on that coming up. It is 5 12 on Wall Street. This is Bloomberg day breaking morning. I'm Nathan Hager. Let's get you set for the trading week ahead. We're joined down by Dennis gartman, chairman of the university of Akron endowment investment committee. Former publisher of the gartman letter, Dennis, great to speak with you as always as we watch futures pullback just a bit, but boy, what a surge did we see to start off this week in Asian shares overnight on these signs that maybe COVID zero restrictions aren't going to be quite so stringent as they've been over the last few months. I wonder what you make of these latest market moves, Dennis. It's about time that the Chinese made that made some statements to the fact that they were going to ease their COVID restrictions. They have been authoritarian too severe substantially. So and the fact that they're easing has allowed the Asian stocks to rally violently over the overnight, what do we have three, four, 5% overnight, very substantive moves on their part. I think, however, that it's going to be deleterious to U.S. share prices. I've been wrong for the past 8 weeks, let's be blunt about this. I've been right for the past 11 months. I've been very, very strong on share prices here in the United States. Predicated upon the fact that the fed is tightening monetary policy and the taxes that fed has to reduce the size of the balance sheet by $95 billion per month and is going to continue to do so for several years, taking the fuel away that had been the sponsor for the bull market and share prices here in the United States. I've been wrong, however, for the past 8 weeks must be let's be quite honest. But I like I said, I've been correct for the past 11 months. And I think if you take a look at a chart and stand 20 feet away from it, you still have a bear market in the NASDAQ. You still have a bear market in the S&P, you have perhaps the and incipient bull market in the Dow, but the broader indices have been, I think, particularly in unquestionably bearish. So I have been, as I said, I've been wrong for the past 8 weeks, but I've been right for the past 11 months. Let's see if I can be right for the next 6 weeks or so. I've been I'm going to continue to be bearish or share prices on balance. All right. Well, I want to dig in a little bit into what you just said about China's opening being deleterious to U.S. stocks. What is the correlation between the surge we're seeing in Asian shares overnight and the pullback that we could be seeing in U.S. stocks going forward? Sometimes the correlation is one to one, sometimes the correlation is nothing to nothing. And right now I would think that the money has we'll move from the United States and probably out of Europe and move to Asia just because the Asian shares have been so have been under such egregious pressure for such a long period of time. But on balance, over protracted periods of time, a rise in Europe, a rise in Asian shares will basically give a rise in European and American shares at the same time, but the correlation can be, as I said, one to one at times and negative at other times. So anybody who predicates their trading on watching what Asian shares they would do to take a position in the United States. I think you have to be suspect at best and cautious at most. All right. I wanted to ask you, though, is that a flow that you would follow? Do you see the Asian market as being more investable now given the moves that we're seeing in China right now? On a scale of one to ten where one being the least investable in ten being the most investable and until this weekend, I would have said investing in Asian shares was a one or a two at best. Maybe it moves to a four or 5 at this point. So still not aggressively bullish, but moving from one to four or 5 predicated upon the changes. These changes are necessary long overdue. And let's congratulate the Chinese government for finally making a movement in the right direction. Are you thinking that we could see more bullishness in the oil market given what we're seeing in China? Not really. I pay attention to the term structure in the futures market and crude oil as it may be being the best leading indicator of direction of prices of crude oil. And a good bull market you have the market you take the market to a substantive inversion, a substance and backwardation. And right now you've got the front month WTI trading one or two cents under the second and one or two cents under the third or one or two cents under the fourth futures, which tells you that you should be up on the side of being either neutral or bearish, not neutral or bullish. So the fact that we've had a bounce in crude oil prices overnight predicated upon the Chinese change, I think if you made me take a position, I'd be a seller today, not a buyer. What about the European price cap on Russian oil? Does that have any impact on your view? None. Zero, nada, not a myth. And in terms of what we're seeing from OPEC plus, they're holding pat on the 2 million barrel a day cut that they agreed to. A few weeks ago in our last 30 seconds of this segment here, Dennis, what does that mean for the broader oil market? If it had been bullish, you would have seen the market go to an inversion. And it's not. It's gone to a contango. A very small contango, but a contango nonetheless, if this were good bullish news, if this were substantively bullish, if this was surprisingly bullish, you'd see them in the fun months gaining upon the back months and doing so rather materially, they're not. So I think that means that this is a non event, a bit of non news, a bit of news that has already been well anticipated. All right, we're going to

'Feels like a loss': Commanders don't know how to feel after tie vs. Giants

"The Giants and commanders finished in a 2020 tie after seesaw game between two teams bat for playoff spots. Washington jumped out to an early ten zero lead, but the Giants behind Daniel Jones bounced back and held a 2013 lead late in the game before the commander scored a touchdown with just under two minutes remaining to even the score. It's not a loss. It's not a win either, so I think you understand that part of it, but I think just disappointed that we could have could have played better. It could have taken advantage of some situations. The Giants Graham gano had a chance to win the game of the 58 yard field goal at the end of overtime, but it fell short. Tom Harry

"His games when Tom Brady is at quarterback as the defensive line. And it's not just about having great rushers. You need them. Cam Jordan and the New Orleans Saints do as good of a job against the Tampa Bay offensive line than anybody in the NFL and it's because they're never out of position. They're always covering for each other. And when they get those one on one opportunities and we know how great cam Jordan is, but he's a guy that helps facilitate for other guys around him. And not only that, you got to take away quick access throws. Tom Brady also beat you by using backs like we've talked about before, getting the ball out of his hands quick to tight ends. So getting your hands up and trying to back balls, but also your linebackers being able to come down early and make him hold it for another half a second in order for the rush to get home. Let's continue with our recipe for defense of these Super Bowl winning quarterbacks in the NFC. Aaron Rodgers coming off back to back MVP seasons, but he did have one glaring weakness last season. That was pressure. Rogers ranked near the bottom of the league in both QBR and completion percentage when pressured last season averaged the fewest yards per tip. However, getting to Rogers was easier said than done as the average the fourth fastest time to throw. The theme here is that these guys are so good they figure out how to overcome whatever their issue is, but Marcus, how did your cowboys team try to quit Rogers in difficult spots when you played against him? As difficult as it is as it was and ears, you try to keep him in the pocket. I don't think Aaron Rodgers gets enough credit for his ability to extend plays. And not only extend plays, but they are usually a touchdowns or 50 yard plates. I played for the Dallas Cowboys. I've been on the other end of devastation from Aaron Rodgers being able to go underneath an out and then make a play, not only with his arms and legs. I think that's where the frustration came from when he didn't opt to run against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs in the NFC championship. But his ability to extend plays is athleticism is a very underrated trade of who he is as a quarterback. So we tried to keep him in the pocket and try to die a slow death as opposed to dying a fast one. So Luke, what does Rogers do that makes him so hard to game plan against him? The hard count for me with Aaron Rodgers is the most difficult thing and he does such a good job specifically on third down. You get a third short window. He's gonna get a free first down just on a hard count. If you look at this play right here, this is the first third down of the game. We went in all week talking about it. I jump off sides, free play. He takes a shot downfield. Obviously some frustration there and then as this play goes on, two plays later. Touchdown. So you get to the sideline, you can be as bad as you want at everybody in the secondary, but you know, if I don't jump off, if I don't jump off sides, then that series is over we're off the field. So that's the most frustrating thing about Aaron Rodgers is you know that hard counts come in. You know it's coming. It's the first third down of the game. I still jump and it leads to a touchdown. So it's frustrating, but that's why he's one of the best. What? Something just happened on this show that does not happen with Dan orlowski. You see how defensive players take ownership for their mistakes. 100%. Listen. Here's the thing. I mean, yesterday we're showing Lou getting moss by Julio Jones. Now we've got this out there. Luke is just right into the vibe here, taking accountability. Marcus did Rogers ever get you like that? He never got him. I bet he never got you, Marcus. He never got me, but it was because it wasn't because it wasn't 'cause it was so good. It was 'cause my ball get off was so slow. I wasn't bad for us. I was a two gaffer. There you go. Stop the run. There you go. Tell him. All right, so last season is we get the Matthew Stafford the third QB on our list. He led the league in QBR against the blitz. Ranked second in QBR when kept clean. But when teams were able to pressure Stafford without blitzing him, his numbers saw a significant drop, ranking 24th amongst qualifying quarterbacks and the good thing for Stafford, though, is he played behind one of the league's best offensive lines, the rams ranked first in past walk win rate last season. That's a big part of it, but of course this version of Stafford comes with Sean mcvay, calling plays for him, but Luke, how should a defense prepare for a matchup with that duo? That McVeigh and Stafford duo. It's a tricky offense because how the offense is set up. It's set up to put your eyes in positions where they shouldn't be as a defender as a defender. You have all these pre snap reads, these pre snap cues. This is where I'm putting my eyes. And then right before the ball is snapped, they send a guy across the formation, and it gets you looking where you shouldn't be looking. And the mindset of a defender's got to be, it's not where he is pre snap. It's where he's going. And the moment you can get to where he's going, you can get set up and you can put your eyes in the right spot, and this is a perfect example. They line up in a three by one set. They go zoom motion to two by two and just based on the chaos before the ball snapped, it gets guys out of position and makes easy throws. Stafford can make all the throws, but if you ask him, he's going to take every easy throw he can get, and that's why I think that combination is so good. Yeah, no doubt. Don't be win to shopping when you walking down the street with your lightning. That's what best out for want you to do. Listen, the other thing is this. The other thing is this about Matthew Stafford, and I think when he came to Los Angeles, this is why I was so excited. He's a matchup explorer, okay? I played against him. We had a 25 point lead on him. When I was in Dallas, and he just said, Calvin Johnson, and obviously we know what CJ was, but he said, I'm about to explore the matchup. You look at the rims. In the playoff series, when it had to be had when you had to have it, he knew exactly what he was going to do and where he was going. It was Cooper Cup. He exploited matchups early in the Super Bowl with Odell Beckham junior, but also don't ever think that it's over with Matthew Stafford. That is the biggest mistake you can make. That's the mistake a lot of teams made when he was in Detroit on bad football teams and you ended up walking out of there with a AO and yes, I was a part of a defense that thought it was over because we had a big lead and he was able to overcome that. That is his best trait. His best characteristic and best trait is the fact that Matthew Stafford never feels like he can't make a throw or a few plays to get his team back in the game or win it. And that's just everybody wants to talk like they have that trait. A lot of guys don't. He does. He lives it for real. Yeah, I'm going to be really interested to see the rams full schedule on Thursday when it's all released. Of course, we have a special here on ESPN. ESPN2 at 8 p.m. eastern. I want to know, what does that schedule look like? These Super Bowl chance trying to repeat. All right, this new one NFL live guys. "So we'll see how that sorts out, but I'm with you, if he's a top two or three receiver this week, that would make sense. I'm going with the chief side here. Darrell Williams over 11 and a half carries. Here, last week played 32 snaps at 5 carries and 5 targets, but it was a very poor game script, of course, is there a trailing, the bills on 80% of their snaps there about a touchdown favorite this week against Washington, so more carries. It's going to be Daryl Williams ahead of Jared with Ken and getting those carries. And assuming they're not struggling to lead in this game, he should be able to hit this mark. I'm at 14. So a pretty decent gap year. Keep in mind Washington has the opposing lead back against Washington has hit 13 carries in all 5 games this season. Of course, Williams will be the lead back for the chiefs. One of my favorite prop bets that I submitted for our column this week that you can get that column on ESPN dot com. How about this? I'm curious to get your thoughts because I'm with you with the 11 over 11 and a half carries, but how about over 47 and a half rushing yards? Yeah, just yards are tougher, right? It's all about efficiency. You know, you can rip off one and get that yards are tougher than projecting usage for sure. So that's what makes that tricky. And you said, what is it rushing her? I'm trying to it's 47. It's 47 and a half. I just play. I'm not saying it's a play. I just wanted to just curious to see what side you were on there. Yep, I'm over. I'm at 50 just south of 58 yards. So pretty decent gap there. The juice is not great on it. You know, I lean toward now, it's kind of coming back into my head as I was writing this column. So the juice on carries is much prettier. It's almost even money, whereas you're getting kind of ugly juice on the yardage total. So that's why this one. Yeah, it's minus one 20. So over 11 and a half carries is minus one O 5 over 47 and a half rushing yards is minus one 20. All right, the rams and the Giants. The Giants deepens, they're just so bad. I love Stafford this week over 283 and a half passing yards over two and a half touchdowns and you get that at plus money at plus one 55, which I like. Also, in the rushing attack, you know, how many there's very few and far between bell cows anymore in the backfield for a lot of these teams, Henderson is one of them. He's getting the lion's share of the touches over 76 and a half rushing yards for him. And I know, you know, there's a lot of talk in speculation in regards to Daniel Jones. He has to pass some tests later on this afternoon. But Mike, even if he passed the test, he's not a 100%. First and foremost. So don't be surprised. So just FYI, I would stay away from Daniel Jones this week because what if he takes another bad hit? What if he doesn't feel a 100%, you know, Mike glennon, this team believes in Mike glennon, believes that he could come in and perform admirably, but here's my play. Darius Tony under receiving yards. He's got a little temper and this is not going to be a good mix with him going up against Jalen Ramsey. We both know Jalen Ramsey likes to talk a lot of smack. Also he's dealing with an ankle issue, Sterling shepherd and Darius slayton are expected back. So and I know he's the last two weeks he's really like taking the NFL by storm. Everybody's talking about Kerry is Tony. I'm fading him this week. Lined lines are not out yet, and they won't be until Daniel Jones is active or inactive, notified as active or inactive, but regardless of what the line is, I'm playing under for Canaria's Tony this week. Interesting. That's a guy I was surprised how low people were on him in fantasy this year. It was the first round pick but people don't like him for some reason. So I hope you're wrong, Anita, because I'm unlike every single one of my fantasy teams, but I'm sorry. I hear you tough you could potentially be a tough matchup but he's out Sterling shepherd and Darius Lincoln could be back. I'm curious to see how they move guys around. I don't know if I don't know if Tony will play outside or inside with shepherd we know he has experienced doing both batoni is experienced doing both so far as well. So curious to see. And if he does move around, we're not going to be too worried about Jalen Ramsey and Darius Williams is out, so we're not worried about him either. But yeah, I have some props in this one, too. I'm gonna take Stafford, you like, you like him on the overs here and it looks like he's gonna need a lot of pass attempts to get there. We'll have one mistake, so we need one mistake. I'm going over at one half interception at plus money here. He's thrown three picks. This season, he's up to a clean 150 in his career. And he's thrown at least one in 56.1% of his career games. He's also been aggressive at the last couple of years, including this season. He pushes the ball downfield, which increases the odds here of the turnover. So, like that one, and for the first time this year, I believe Anita, we're going to go to the kicker well. Because I've avoided these mostly, nothing is really jumped off the page. Certainly a high variant's position, but Graham gano jumped off the page this week. You can get over two made field goals that even money and over 6 and a half ticking points at minus one 15 look he's made at least two field goals in four consecutive games and he's reached 7 points in three of 5 games. He's also been and I remember talking with Jordan we're not about this in the off season on his podcast as we did to see some preview about how underrated this guy is. He's one of the best kickers in the NFL. He nailed 31 of 32 last year in 21 of 23 extra points. I mean, the guy gets to these marks quite often. So you're getting decent juice here. I'm in on the overs on Graham Ben. I love that you're going with a kicker. Houston and the colts, man, do I love Michael Pittman? I love them coming out of college and I love them now and he's finally shining and we're seeing Carson wins kind of come into his own. I'm going over 16 and a half receiving yards. He's averaging 7 receptions a game, and he's up there in regard to air yards. So you've got a Houston secondary who let's be honest, I don't think any of their corners would start on any other NFL team..

"Were playing this conservatively or were taken a shot here and any offensive coordinator then calls calls whatever the plays are going to be accordingly so for me. That's joe judge decision. And i also talked about. There were two other fourth-down situations where the giants settled for field goals by graham. Gano fifty to fifty five yards. And yes you want points there. Yeah i get it that you know. But in the fourth as a fourth quarter of a game unfolds for me extending a lead from three points to six points doesn't really do you all that much good because it still one scored game if you're your fourth and three on the thirty four or four thin three or four on about the thirty seven to me at least in one of those situations especially maybe in the last one where they went for the fifty five yard field goal. That gano made why not go for that. Why not try for the first down. It's not gonna kill you if you don't make it and if you do get if you do convert it you a have the opportunity to go down and score and make it a to score game and be. You're taking more time off the clock. So i just i didn't understand the to me. The the passive approach there at all. Because it just you know. Take the bull by the horns be aggressive. Go try to win the game. My one pushback on that was that was the same drive where the giants at two consecutive fall starts to put them in the third and fifteen credit the bengals jones to pick up eleven yards with his legs. But the fact that the offense already had the jitters. I mean i. The giants are lucky enough to eat and get themselves into field. Goal range in that situation and i get it only put you up by put you up by a another three points because it was twenty three to twenty before that play but that offense man. I mean you can't make those types of devastating and that wasn't the only time in the game at that. They were undisciplined and took a false start. Penalty order came out of a timeout and didn't know where to align. I mean those are inexcusable. Mosquito is in the first quarter that happened when they were up seven and they got down. I think to washington twenty seven yard line. They end up taking time out to avoid to avoid a delay of game penalty because they didn't know how to line up. Then they come out of the time out. they still don't know how to line up. The clock hits zero andrew. Thomas gets called for a false start. Which if he doesn't fall start they're going to get called for delay of game anyway. So it really. Didn't you know so. Whichever penalty got called. They were going to get cold anyway. And that's that's just ridiculous to come out of a timeout where you set up a play in a not know how to lying team up in the very next play. Daniel jones was sacked. I it's like you. You put yourself into those disadvantageous situations when you make bad. Mistakes and young teams undisciplined teams. They will end up losing football games by something as simple as a false start penalty that knocked out of field goal range. And i mean. I don't even want to blame c. J. board on that on the touchdown nullifying holding penalty. Because to me that one. That was a really ticky tacky. Call along to be honest credit. The daniel jones actually scampered Yards and a touchdown against his defense. But that was another. I guess you could say penalty. That took away four points from the giants. Although i i don't really want to blame board for that specific one because i mean you see that block a lot. Ed you really do and flagged on on this one unfortunately all right so let's let's spin forward you've got the atlanta falcons coming in atlanta's given up eighty points over two games. I think this is the only week three matchup between two or two football teams. This this has to be week where the giants get into the win column and finally maybe start to turn turn this thing around and and play a little better football and get started but when you look at what the giants have done through two games. Let's talk specifically about the offense coming out of thursday statistically and what we saw on thursday there actually are some some encouraging signs from this offense mark. Scofield did a breakdown for for big blue view that that appeared that posted just a little bit earlier on monday afternoon. Any said gino. The giants are actually really close to being a good offense which people are gonna find hard to believe but coming out of thursday. I thought there were some signs of some good. Things are absolutely was daniel jones in particular. I mean jones is ball placement. Wasn't perfect on some throws a little bit behind or a little bit ahead. i think the daria sleep drop. You could say it could have been a better throw similar to the evan ingram drop last year but it's still inexcusable for receiver to drop the football in those situations but i thought daniel jones got through his progressions quickly. He recognize things pre snap diagnosed with post snap. Then attacked confirmed what he believed in the present phase of play. I thought he'd took up steps forward in that area. Which is definitely a. I would say point of contention for me in terms of daniel jones. How good can he be in that situation from processing standpoint. I thought he showed that against a good defense in washington. I mean just the touchdown to darius slayton he recognized the coverage saul cub. One pre snap diagnosed with post nap held the safety to the right of the field. His back foot snapped his hips to shoulders his head over to towards various late inside and put the ball into a very catchable spot where sleet and security for the touchdown. That's a very nice play by daniel jones. He keeps showing that the fact that jason garrett was not shy to utilize daniel jones athletic ability. I think is a very encouraging sign for the giants offense. They were running our peos. Jones was making good decisions on the majority of those. Rpo plays the run pass option where he would put the ball into the belly saquon barkley. He would read that safety coming down at the safety bit. Too far down into the begats he would fire it over his head to kenny on the skinny. Slant i hope to see a little bit more of that. That zone read game. That should open up our rushing attack. The giants rushing attack. I mean when you get the zone reed coming that backside pursuit defenders not going to be able to crash. If you have. Someone as athletic as dana. Jill who just take it and run sixty yards which we have seen run eighty yards like we saw last year when he was tackled by philadelphia stadium. So i think all of those lead me to believe that this offense could be in the right direction. But i'm still concerned about this offensive line. That's where especially after you nick gates. I've still have concerned there really. Price didn't look great in the first game tough assignments. I wanna give give the kid his break at the bend bredesen's hasn't looked overly encouraging in his first two games. Either in your down. Shane lemieux n. nick gates. That's not great. You have neat sold. Starting that is not something that a lot of giants fans anticipated. And if something were to ever happen to any of these other offensive linemen there could be dire situation as of right now. I would still say. It's a marginal offensive line at that Probably played better than i expected against. Washington's front but still this is That's that's the one thing that makes me feel that. This offense may not be able to to fully take that next step. Especially if they can't get the rushing attack going with saquon barkley which they really haven't outside of that forty one yard run which was a really nice read by saquon barkley and a really nice blocked by cadence smith to take away the defender who was about tackling the backfield. Wanna make one comment about daniel jones and talk a little bit more about the offensive line. I looked at i. I don't always appreciate the way that pro. Football focus grades quarterback play. I think that that their system oftentimes just doesn't really reflect quarterback. Play really well. But i think i almost fell down this morning when i looked at at pro. Football focus quarterback grades. They have jones ranked as the number six quarterback in the league over all after two weeks and in terms of pure passing grade not passer rating not. Qbr not any you know not any of that..

"Thirty one points. I mean listen. If aaron rodgers as three touchdowns to robert robertson and has another one to devante atoms and devante has a huge game. Crosby gets fantasy points then. Yeah i expect myself to have a big game. But you know i i don't really know and looking at how might players played in this league so darryl henderson seventeen point two fantasy points and he actually left the game with a rib injury. I believe there was a handful of players left rib injuries. So i don't know if he's gonna play. I don't have sony michelle in this league. So i'm i don't really know what i'm gonna do. I'm lost in this league okay. So let's go through this league so i drift. Jk dobbins with my first pick right. Then i get gus edwards later on in that draft as well so i'm like okay. You know that's good. You have the backup to jk dobbins so then. Jackie dobbins tears his acl tears acl out for the year. So i'm like okay. At least i've got sidewards. Scott sidewards his acl out for the year. I pick up justice hill. Tears his achilles. He's out for the year. I tyson williams right then. I trade sterling shepherd to my friend. Get ricky moster. Because i need a running back where he mustered out for the year with a knee injury. Okay so sterling shepard. If people have paid attention has been a monster has been a monster for the giants fantasy and actually looking rankings. Defense actually did well and fantasy this week. Eighteen point five fantasy points a defensive touchdown and to pick so you know albeit. They gave up thirty points but they still did well. So okay i guess. In terms of fantasy they did help but still a lot of points. But yeah back to what i was saying. So remote cert- he is out. Okay so my friend fleeced me in that trade. So now i trade joe mixon for darrow henderson and josh jacobs josh jacobs doesn't play and darryl henderson is hurt. So now i'm going to have leonard fournette and chase edmunds right now. As my only healthy running. Max won't williams. I guess tyson williams is definitely getting started. Okay he did all right ten point three fantasy points looking at his stats from the game. So i think i went over moretti but yeah seventy seven yards rushing and yeah i mean he played well. I think he's gonna be together. I'm going to start because For a guy that. I'm not going to start brandon. I ask one point six. I'm really worried about euch are i. Don't know what's going on kyle. Shanahan was saying stuff about him over the course of the week. How you know. He's got to play better than the guys behind him. Otherwise he's not gonna play. I'm really concerned about brandon. Because this guy. I kept saying how he's going to be great. A lot of people kept saying the same thing he's gonna be and deebo we're going gonna be the top two wide receivers and he has not mean. He has his catch on the year. One for six yards. He's not going to be in my line next week. I'm sitting him now. He's playing against the packers. So you know. Maybe he does do well. but i. i'm sitting in. Because i trust them. And you know what. Leonard fournette i mean. He's got me ten points in back to back weeks. I'm probably still going to start him even though they're playing the rams and that's going to be tough but listen if everybody's healthy here anderson is healthy. I'm starting him. I'm starting chase edmunds. Starting for net. And i'm starting tyson. Williams await actually now that i look at it probably start. Edmonds henderson are probably start. Won't run defenses good. So i don't know i think about that but jacobsen definitely starting just jacobs if he's healthy. 'cause they're going up against miami and i think he'll do well in that game. And then yeah. I start devante. Cd antonio brown antonio brown was definitely a big disappointment this week. Only two point seven fantasy points but again you know. I think he will do better. You know throughout the year. He's not. I mean that's just one bad performance. I mean he was great against dallas. I think he's still can be good Cd-rom was good seventeen point four. I mean really again. It just all depends on devante. Rogers tanya n- and crosby that's really what's going to determine if i win or not next week though already looking at next week i'm starting derek carr against the dolphins over aaron rodgers against the forty. Niners i think roger's is going to get the short and i don't know what's going to happen in this game against the lions but i just know that healthy forty nine squad going up against aaron rodgers that is a recipe for disaster for the packers and i do not think the packers will play. Well not starting rogers next week and you know what if you have a good quarterback other than rogers on your team if you have a competent backup. I think you start him over. Rogers i really do. I think devante you probably still start. Because it's devante. But i think if you have another quarterback i think you start him over so that's my thoughts on that but yeah i mean you know. That's it with this team. So i'm down by forty plus points but i'm still projected to win. I just. I think it's going to be close. But i don't really see myself winning. But we'll see. Roger has to have a big game so now let's get into the other dynasty league so right now i'm down one hundred twenty one to eighty one basically well to get the exact score so i'm down one hundred twenty one point zero eight to eighty one point nine fantasy points and yeah i mean you guys underperformed camaro only had five equa had eighteen. He had a two point conversion. So i did better. Mike evans did better. Seventy five yards receiving touchdowns. Calvin ridley had a touchdown. Melvin gordon was antonio brown. Yeah did nothing. Regal blankenship had twelve giants. Defense had negative one. I should've started graham. Gano had twenty two. And if i want to start him. That's an extra ten points. I'd only be down by thirty But yeah it's going to be tough. I got rodgers and tanya and left and you know. I need them to go off. I think if rogers gets three touchdowns to robert tanya. When i think i win i think i pretty much win. But that's a big if he has nobody else playing actually playing my friend my same friend in both our dynasty league and in our redraft league and right. Now i'm up in the reject league which i will get into in a second but i'm gonna need a big performance at rogers but the only problem is i'm going up against him in the redraft league. My friend has him so after route. Format after ruben. Him because i need to win. But yeah i'm endanger falling into and both my dynasty leagues. I really my teams. The depth is really. The huge problem is when i look in when i look up and down my My my depth chart is really not a lot of depth. They're really not. I don't have a ton of running back depth. Well you know. I have to williams. I have sony michelle. I've carlos hyde in key. Sky's get injured. They're gonna get seymour carries and swift has been dealing with injuries. But he's still playing. And i do have sony in this league so now if henderson does miss some time he's a guy that i can definitely potentially start. Maybe you know if my running backs going by weeks or get injured or something but the one thing that i said d'arno mooney did get targeted a little bit more. I noticed. I don't know if it was just me. When fields putting the game that definitely could be a good connection and moody could definitely maybe slide into a flex spot. Because melvin. gordon definitely is not going to be a guy that you know. I'm going to start week to week..

"Is to start your season. Oh into and they are open to now and the last twenty teams over the last two years. It started in two. Make the playoffs now. The giants are lucky. Horrible division of worse than in. Nfl so maybe they still have a shot. But the bottom line is they're not good enough for their next seven games or the saints. The rams i believe the chiefs and one more team. That's really good. They're going to be two in six. At best is short order and so their season-opening pretty much done but rob. This is why they should be enraged the giants fans because the giants absolutely positively gave that game away there's no zaza buts about it. And i am not only talking about the penalty on the misfield goal. That lay right. Hit the how. 'bout daria slayton dropping net pass indian-zone. I mean rob. And i gave you wanna say it was a tad bit overthrown tan. Maybe an inch but it was still very catchable. It hit him in the hands. You've gotta make that play. There wasn't a defender in sight and he dropped. It ended the game six minutes left. But then robbie got worse. They may the next same possession. Third and five in the territory of the reds. Though the team they have a false start. Nate soldier their offensive tackle. Now is third and ten next way. The offensive tackle andrew thomas. False start now. It's thirty fifteen. They're lucky daniel jones scrambled and got him back in somewhat field goal position and keno graham. Gano hit a great fifty five yarder to give them the lead and then rob to add insult to injury. Thirty seven seconds left. washington is marching. And there's another offsides penalty or infraction on the giants defense four penalties in the last six minutes of the game. That costs you the game. And that's not to mention rob. Daniel jones is long fifty. Five yard run came. Back it was a touchdown came back because of holding. So gioja is mr disciplinary. You know rob. I'm old school. I don't mind that. But how in the world are you mr disciplinarian. How in the world are you. Mr buttoned up. How in the world are you mister. We're going to do everything the right way. And you got four costly penalties in the last six minutes. That's why they should be raised rob because their seasons on the brink already because of self inflicted wounds. And that's all fair and i'm not even gonna disagree with you and you're right about george. You can't be you know where that on your sleeve. Chris and mistakes. You're talking about or coaching mistakes are they. Are those are win win. Coach hasn't hasn't gotten through the players that you're not going to hurt the football team okay. You're not gonna make those kinds of do those kind of things to hurt. But i i'm gonna go chris. It's even bigger than this. And if i'm giants ownership. I'm sorry dave. Gettleman done the. I got to get rid of dave gettleman. The general manager. He was hi. Chris ahead of the twenty. Th season through three seasons giants fifteen and thirty four one of the worst marks in the nfl. And you already see what's what's happening out this season. don't forget. He hired pat shurmur. You remember him. The co-driver lasted two seasons disaster. Now they gave them a second chance to hire another coach and he brought in judge right and it hasn't worked out so far. And there's other things you know. We're making a trade and when they got rid of odell beckham modell beckham junior and whatnot. And you could say the drafting of saquon barkley. Who is a fine running back route. But it has day and age second pick overall you draft in running back and the daniel and daniel jones. When you look at it you can just pick out and go. Yeah that was awful last night the giants or putrid they stink. Are you kidding me. Come on this is not good enough. Fifteen and thirty four. This is the general manager. He's put together this mess. He's hired to coaches who you don't like are coaching right. It's gotta go to the top seriously. The judge the giants have to do better than this and it has to be about the front office. What's put together is not working and you're right chris. Last night it looked like danny dimes. Had a had a great game. And we're gonna win and they're put together points against what was supposed to be a great defense but the first two games of the year washington wondering. I don't know about the defense. Chris do you. Let's say the last good day of not look good at all but you rob. You're right and i do think if this season goes is it's looking like it will. I do think cattleman will be in trouble. He might. I would think it'll be gone. I don't know i'm just speculating. But if this season is horrible again. I think he's in deep trouble and using a road. I wouldn't get rid of. Joe judge rob but you know how it is i keep him. It's only second year. You know how it works though when a new gm comes governments. Let go and the new. Gm comes then now. Judge is automatically on the hot seat. But you have to bring in right you bring in your own guy and this is. The only problem is like chris. You can lose because you don't have enough talent and whatnot but when you start losing because a coaching then then you gotta look at george. The stuff we talked about is coaching staff. And that that's where you should be concerned daniel jones. Did they find their quarterback of the future. I i don't think so. I'm not saying. Throw them out. But i am willing to watch more and more your. He did look good last night. He had been better at holding onto the football. The last seven games dating back to even last year. But you know but still the result. Aren't there no guarantee for sure. I'm saying like the giants have a horrible season and have a chance to draft a quarterback. He hasn't done enough yet for me to say. Oh no. we're not going to do that. You know what i mean like. It's just not gonna happen. This season is quickly becoming about. Let's see what daniel jones can do. Because if you're not going to make the playoffs and you know you're out. Then that's what it's to become about. Let let us see. If dan jones is improved enough where we think. He's our quarterback of the future. If not you know who. They're going to have their is rob spencer rattler. I would think the quarterback had oklahoma. He's off to a tough start this year but a lot of people think he's the number one pick and look. Look at the three. Last three quarterbacks come out oklahoma route baker mayfield cuyler. Murray and jalen hurts so so far so good for those guys in oklahoma. Be sure to catch. Live additions of the odd couple with chris broussard. Then rob parker weekdays at seven. Pm eastern four pm pacific on fox.

"Gonna keep them in the pocket and see if he can complete pass after. Pass after pass you know in front of our you know zone coverage with soft coverage Pretty much everywhere Then then let him do it. And then we'll try to tighten up in the red zone. I still think that forty six to twenty two and a game. That's you know back and forth. Not you know you're down by two scores and you're throwing to try to get back into it because it's late I didn't think gibson got enough. A runs in the game That is the penalties once again. Nine penalties eighty yards not good Some of those penalties You know obviously hurtful In terms of the unnecessary roughness the The p. is on on fuller and collins. And i think there's one other one i think jackson had one as well Several of them were on third down so washington now in two games has seventeen penalties into games. Fortunately their opponents have a bunch of penalties to last night. The giants had eleven. Although i think that holding penalty Was bullshit. i i really did. I thought i thought jones by the way was incredibly impressive in the game I thought his running ability his read option runs. I thought he threw it well. I thought he played very smart. Situational football those two third longs when they were out of field goal range. She made a throw to get him into field goal range. He made a run to get him into into field. Goal range I thought he was a very very good Last night Okay lastly A couple of other observations. First of all how that graham gano. Wow what a player you know. I mentioned the turning point in the game where they got knocked out of field goal. Range actually guinot has the range from where they you know. After that sack i think it would have been about a fifty six yarder. He kicked in the game A fifty five yard He remember he kicked for washington. Pack you know In twenty ten and eleven something like that was their kicker. He's gone on to have a fabulous career as a as a kicker five for five last night including that fifty five yarder late in the game which gave them a six point lead which also came. After the slayton drop touchdown pass that would have given the giants a thirty to twenty lead with five with about five and a half six minutes to go in the game. That could have been a true death-knell but graham gano Gave him that. Six point lead He was terrific and hopkins. He missed the kick. We would have been in here calling for you. Know eddie. pineyro to be the kicker against buffalo but he was three for three or two for two going into that kick he had made a forty nine yarder in the game He had made a thirty seven yarder in the game that he missed the forty eight yard but made the forty three yard. After the offsides against dexter lawrence on there was a situation in the game. that I think many of you thought Ron rivera aired Not going for fourth and three when they were down twenty three to seventeen. It was about nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Twenty two seventeen. He's facing a fourth down in three at the giant nineteen yard line. I didn't have a problem with that. I mean you can hit me with all of the fourth down analytics. You want You know urine a game where you know it's score to score. They're kicking field goals. You're kicking field goals. You're gonna cut the lead to three. You're gonna get the ball back again. Maybe it's after another score and it might be a devastating score. It might be thirty two twenty because the giants might get a touchdown and sure enough slayton drop that passed. That could made it. Thirty to twenty but I in context washington at that. Point was like three for eleven or three for twelve on third down. So you know. Ron wasn't very confident. I don't think in their ability to get fourth in three If he'd gone. I wouldn't have had a problem for it. I think it was very much a fifty fifty thing in a feel thing for him. Did he have the right play. Did he feel like he had the right situation. To make a fourth and three and remember even if you make a fourth and three there there's no guarantee that you're not going to be kicking a field goal three downs later anyway but either way i was fine with the decision In that particular spot it made it twenty three to twenty. The giants then drove back down the field slate and drop the past but they a field goal twenty six twenty and then obviously the two throws To mckissick and to ricky seals jones gave him the lead. By the way. I think One of heineke most important throws was on the final drive of the game when they were in very long field. Goal range With the clock. I thought they manage the clock very well. Net final drive. god aikman. Buck were a little bit panicked like they weren't. I thought they were totally fine. In their pace on the final drive they just needed field goal. Range you know this is why judge handled it so poorly on his end. Way too conservative But i really thought they handled it. Well they called the time outs exactly the way you wanted to call the time out. She didn't want to call them too early. He didn't want to end up kicking a field goal and thirty seconds remain on the clock. They handled it very well But i thought that the key throw they were at the giant.

"Family of podcasts. And today we obviously have a lot to talk about with the with the giants. Losing a gut. Wrenching heartbreaking whatever. You wanna call it gain to washington on thursday night as i wrote on big blue view friday morning. The giants snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Which obviously is is not something that that that's that's not an original statement but it absolutely fits. What happened to the giants on thursday night. This was a game that they had to win. We discussed that a number of times. It big lou view. They had to win this game. They had to avoid and owen to start for the eighth time. In nine years they had to do something to change all of the negative narratives that are circling around this football team as it continues to flounder at this point. Eighteen and forty eight over the last three plus seasons the worst record in football actually four plus seasons worst record in football since the beginning of the two thousand seventeen season last night was a chance for the giants to begin to turn the corner. Show that the past is the past and the future is brighter and the giants couldn't get that done. They had every chance to win this football game and simply couldn't take advantage of it. Daniel jones was maybe the best game. He's played for the giants since since coming to the team as the six as the sixth overall pick a couple of years ago at the very least you know the best game that he's played probably since his rookie season jones did everything last night. He threw the ball. Well he stood in the pocket. He protected the football. He made plays with his legs. He did everything humanly possible to try and win the giants of football game and the team around him and to be honest the coaching staff around him. Let the young man down and let the giants down to be honest. This is a game. The giants had so many opportunities. They obviously daria slate. And dropped a touchdown pass. They had several opportunities in the fourth. Quarter to score touchdowns that could have turned this into a to score game and made washington's task really really difficult in coming back. This was the biggest problem. I had with joe judge last night. Not just after the james bradberry interception right before the two minute mark where the giants chose to to be conservative and play for go ahead. Graham gano field goal but if you go back and look at the game there were three times in the fourth quarter including that last snowfield goal where the giants had opportunities to go for the jugular to go four touchdowns to really try and put washington away twice on fourth and fairly short inside the washington. Forty judge chose the long field goal. You thankfully graham gano made field goals from fifty two and fifty five yards. But in both of those instances you can easily argue that the giants could have and should have gone for the first down gone for the touchdown tried to put washington away. They didn't do it. And they wound up. Losing a heartbreaking game of course. No one feels worse about this loss than than dexter lawrence who inexplicably inexcusably unforgivably. Whatever you want to say jumped offside on what should have been the final game winning play for the giants which was a forty eight yard. Missed field goal by dustin hopkins. That of course gave hopkins a second chance and hopkins of course made that kick to to send the giants home from landover maryland with with a bitter bitter defeat. But you you talk about mistakes. Talk about lack of discipline. These are all things that judge has preached for two years. And yet you know. Physical mistake dropped like darius slate and had that's going to happen but a mental mistake like lawrence's is something that that judge has preached about those things ever since taking the job nearly two years ago now and the giants still make those mistakes. There's there's an absolute reason why the giants have gone eighteen in forty eight eight in the last you know four plus seasons and it's because they do things like last night it's because they don't make the plays when they're there to be made when you know when it's time to to win games. They don't get things done that are needed to win. Football games and and you know last night was more evidence that that at this point anyway. Things have still not changed for the floundering new york. Giants major major concern for me on defense where the giants simply have not had any answers through two games. you know patrick grams. Group had had no pass rush last night. No answers for terry maclaurin. No answers for covering the middle of the field. Gave up long touchdown drives at the end of the first half gave up the league twice in the fourth quarter including not being able to get a stop on washington's drive four. What ended up being the game. Winning field goal. This defense is supposed to be the backbone of this football team to this point has not been so to. This point has been a huge question. Mark a huge disappointment through two games. There are obviously fifteen games to go but right now what you see from this defense has to be a big big concern because it's vastly underperformed expectations through the first two games of the season half to have to talk about something else that that big view contributor. Chris flom brought up with me early on friday morning. And that's the fact that that you know many many of the giants big-name contributors many of these guys that they brought in you know to be impact players. Just haven't done that yet. James bradbury on thursday night got absolutely toasted by terry mcchord of washington. You know. I know that bradberry has a nice. You know pro. Football focus grade but to me. That's misleading mc. Oran had eleven catches in fourteen targets hundred seven receiving yards and most of that was with bradberry trying trying in vain to stop him in coverage was simply a mismatch disappointing. That patrick graham didn't go to a dory jackson to try to cover mcsporran or do something different in bracket maclaurin do something to to really try and help bradberry..

No, this is going to win again because nothing just bring everyone up to speed about what the betting on his team last time. Was well last fall. I said that the the Eagles weren't going to make the playoffs because the Cowboys were leading the division at the time. The mistake you made is because you took the bait. It was all based on a tweet from, um, a glove and tweet, which is like the Lowest of the low hanging fruit on Twitter Inc I was having a glove and Twitter today, and I just kind of you. You took that bait of like the Eagles are not making the playoffs because the Cowboys were right in front of him. And as we all know, The Eagles made the playoffs and the Giants were still in the mix, too. Yeah, but you trying to dream talk game to the Sixers. Dream Talk is a great phrase rich If Orville and Wilbur Wright hadn't dreamed about flying, then we'd be walking places, right? Maybe you gotta drink. Maybe there'll be something news making in for ball and country of Dame talking about wanting to play in Philadelphia, and we haven't heard that yet, And it will be out there on Peacock. You know, Peacock is known for sending things viral like Kevin Hart, Um Making fun of Don Siegel's age that went all over the place, and my week goes off by the way. It was definitely real real where he responded, But that was all a gag. I mean, that was all just taking the joke to the ultimate end and making it making your virus beef between those But Kevin Harts reaction was just like, Whoa, Damn, I think, he said some didn't think you were that old. It's crazy. All right, let's go to Mike in New Jersey. Been hanging on for a while. What's up, Mike? Hey, How you doing? What's going on? What's on your mind, sir? So I know that you love your New York jets. Yes, sir. But I want to talk about the team that they share stating with the New York football giants. Amen. They're one of my shrug. Emoji teams of 2021. I have no idea and they've been hiding the ball the entire preseason. I mean, I have no idea. Nobody does 0.0. My gut tells me and I'm a fan thought I might be a little biased here, but I feel like there might be a dark horse scene depending on how Jones says, because I think we got the personnel, I think, because Probably one of our best teams. We've hadn't believed last 10 years or so. I think we feel very complete and we got Graham Gano. We got a lot of good additions on the defense last year. I think it's Daniel Jones, Gumball. I think we can play. Look, man, I'm I appreciate you putting the kicker in there as one of the reasons why your complete but I cannot Argue with you about the Giants. I cannot. I have no idea. We have no idea. Daniel Jones didn't play a lick in the preseason game. He was clearly won't play and he's not going to please not Z. Kwame Barkley hasn't played a lick. We have no idea he could come out week one. What's your Giants Play Week one and run for the top of my head. But Denver Denver Broncos at the Giants, they could be like Barkley could come out and carried a ball 30 times. You know, they probably won't gets his first game back. But you can get like 20 touches and Kenny Golladay who's questionable can go up top and Daniel Jones could. Daniel Jones has the ability To win a game with his arms and his legs with his arm and his legs. He has the ability to do that. We have? No, We have no idea about the Giants zero full blue Starsky. They have been hiding the ball this entire preseason. So I don't know, Mike, you could be absolutely correct. And you could also wolf saying Thank you for the call. We could be thinking of you. Week one when Graham gano splits the uprights to give the Giants their season opening victory. No, don't you know? As you know, he puts the gun and the no. And you know many times, so that's a terror that's a bad name for if you break a syllable, black syllable. It's a terrible name for a kicker, girl and no Speaking of girl, Uh, that was the SportsCenter one of many SportsCenter catchphrases of our Tuesday guest. Keith Olbermann's on This show. Keith is going to join us because it's the 32nd anniversary of Pete Rose, signing the Document abandoned for life. 32 years is tomorrow's anniversary. "One day after the giants second preseason game a seventeen thirteen loss to the cleveland browns. We're going to do a couple of things here on today's show. We'll talk a little bit about sunday's game. Want to point out that that chris fleming joe daley own did a quick post game. Podcast on sunday. If you haven't listened to that please go back and do so. Also chris joe and nick lotto will be putting together a film review podcast which should air on tuesday so please look forward to that. Give that a listen as well couple of things that we're going to do here today. We're going to play some audio for you from the post game on sunday. We'll hear from head coach. Joe judge we will also hear from wide receiver kick returner special team gunnar and now defensive. Back matt cole. After he played basically both sides of the ball played on all three groups on sunday. Kohl's a guy who's been impressive In his couple of weeks with the giants after being waived by the new york jets. So we'll hear from him as well. We will also look at the giants week ahead as they end their preseason this week finishing that up with a game against the new england patriots on sunday. Evening at metlife stadium all right just a few things here quickly guys. That were impressive yesterday. In addition to coal on the offensive side of the ball was really impressed by devante booker. Thought that for the first time booker really showed why the giants were in such a rush to to sign him thought that that the wide receiver competition really didn't get a whole lot of clarity on on sunday. Coal impressed in his variety of roles. David sills had another nice day. Cj board continues to be a critical special teams player for the giants. John ross continues to be injured so really interesting how the giants are going to shape. The wide receiver backups. How many wide receivers. They're actually going to keep on. The roster was actually impressed by much of the work of the backup offensive. Line was good to see veteran. Backup center jonathan harrison. Play the entire game after missing a lot of time this camp with an undisclosed injury. Kenny wiggins and and and ted larsen are both veteran. backed up. guards don't know if either of those guys will make the roster to be honest with you but they are both players. Who know what they're doing you know larson's a guy who was making his his preseason debut for the giants didn't grade tremendously well when it came to pro football focus but he's a guy who can both guards can play center offers. That kind of versatility knows what he's doing could be the kind of player that you want as a as a backup in an emergency situation so all in all thought that the offensive line played pretty. Well feel a little bit better about the about the depth. After watching sunday's game still think the giants will be looking on the waiver wire to to to perhaps upgrade that as we get closer to week one against the denver broncos but but thought that it was an encouraging performance by some of the the backup offensive lineman on the defensive side of the ball really impressed by the pass rush work of oceans immunise. Not so much. The edge setting against the run. That's an area where x has always seemed to struggle in that continues. Carter coughlan on the inside. Linebacker spot played really well. Couple of guys that got mentioned after the game by coach. Joe judge were defensive. Tackle david moa and linebacker. Trent harris not sure either of those guys can make the roster but they were both mentioned by joe. Judge also worth noting that ian rapoport. Nfl insiders reporting that some nfl teams have inquired with the giants about place. Kicker ryan santoso. Who isn't going to beat out graham gano but if he could bring the giants let's say a sixth seventh round draft pick in the upcoming draft. That might be worth considering for the giants. So we'll see what happens with santos though as it works out. The giants are heading to new england this week. Which happens to be a place kicker. Needy team so we'll see if anything develops there all right. Let's do this. Let's get right to the audio from joe judge. We're going to hear from joe judge. We're going to hear from matt cole. I will hear from judge talking about coal and talking about the the week that the giants spent working with the browns. Now probably not competed. He's guy scott here. Special teams offense or defense ages says yes sir. A hundred percent you know. We're sitting there looking at the amount of guys you're gonna play saying we a debt. Someone who's going to be an issue in the hot day with a lot of snaps and you always turn out. Say let's back lot lot on punt returner. Play has goner to see what he's got. You know you asked me. I've had experience doing for sears. And training camp and guys that have stuck around wanting impressed us. Was you know. He didn't blink out there. Get the ball through a couple of times. Nice tackle stopped short. They're enforcing feel so you know. Obviously hells a little bit noodle and he got a crash course last defense and some meetings but probably went up. Think yeah i think our entire roster we great quality working. it's quality opponent of the practice of jacksonian. We need to come out here. High-intensity high volume bill nor conditioning. Our fundamentals competitive rate about seen young guys play in competitive situation the entire game and she didn't really played for sixty minutes. That gives you a really good extended view these players not only early or in some small glimpses but extended how they make adjustments in games. Heather respond different situations for minute for the defense to minute. For the offense you can see a lot of players. Elevate their game this entire week and yesterday it's definitely a lot of push on a roster at different positions. You a lot.

"Alright giants fans ed. Valentine back here on. Valentine's views podcast talking with patricia trainer. Giants country in the lock done giants podcast as we preview. You're twenty twenty one giants training camp which begins officially on tuesday. Patty we've been talking about offense. Let's talk a little bit about defense and really the one the one topic that i find really interesting. Entering training camp on defense is how the edge rusher situation is going to pan out. I think the giants have so. Many options are on the edge. Do you find that to be one of the most fascinating position groups entering camp. I do you know. There's an old saying you know quant. Quality is better than quantity. The giants have quantity but do they have quality. I think they do you know. I like z's larry i think he's gonna develop into a fine every down. You know edge. Rusher for them If lorenzo carter is fully healthy and it was a good sign that we saw him during the The spring he was on his way to becoming quite a force before that injury that he suffered. Now what about the rest of the gang there. What are they gonna get from. Ellison smith who was deaf. I believe they're fourth-rounder you know is ryan anderson. Done a play a role there What about o'shane zimmer. Says who seems to be the forgotten guy. What kind of role is he gonna play. And then you have some linebackers you know cam brown and carter coughlin. Did some some edge work last year. But you know. I think carter coughlin's going back towards the to being an inside linebacker more than at edge rusher is cam brown a situational guy so you have a bunch of guys there that you know the question is do. They have a guy who's going to be productive or tune. They really need a strong three man rotation i think at that position. I don't know that they have it yet. We have to see if they do but based on what they have on paper you can make the argument that they do but you know what they have on paper versus with they have on the field two very different things so definitely something to keep an eye on and you know the other thing on defense that i'm really interested in is how the how the secondary shakes out just in terms of how patrick graham uses all of the pieces that that they have have competition in the slot. You between darnay homes and rookie. Third round pick aaron robinson. Plus you have several other defensive backs capable of playing in the slot. You've got lots of competition for for backup spots in the defensive secondary. You've got xavier mckinney heading into his second year hopefully his first full season first healthy season. Is there any any position battle. Anything in this secondary that that really intrigues. You enter camp. Just how many different combinations can patrick graham. Come up with. i mean. This is kind of like a rubik's cube in a away except Instead of trying to solve get all the you know the colored squares to match on each side of the cube. There's so many different combinations that he can put together you know. Is he going to put a for. Example xavier mckinney in the slot on third downs whereas aaron robinson gonna fit in. Is he going to be the star linebacker. Is he gonna take over the slot. So there's a lot of questions but there's also a lot of different combinations that i think pacha gram. He's you know if i'm patrick graham. I'm probably sitting there. And i can't wait to run through some of these combinations and see what works what doesn't work and then figure out when i'm going to deploy them in certain game situations and there. There's a lot i mean. There's probably once that we probably haven't even thought of the patrick graham on his long list of you know personnel. Pack is probably has come up with a few new and creative ways to deploy those guys if we know grand patty. He'll he'll he'll come up with a few more of those tuesday morning. Sure he's probably know. Hey interesting things about the giants last season. Patty was that they struggled in some areas on special teams. Graham gano had a tremendous year as placekicker but the giants didn't get a whole lot from their return game canaries..

"Just really didn't know who the pig but it has to be anyone. I think it's tony powered for take returns not returns punt returns. Are we allowed to get like if we're not gonna put cd or devante. Don't think we're allowed to get really weird. You know the various. Tony returned anything in college. I really don't know like if we're playing around with all possibilities here as biagio looks it up. I mean you know it's it's worth kicking around every every single possibility just in the name of options because there really aren't a lot i mean and i don't think that this isn't like an indictment of the nfc east. There aren't a lot. I think i've studied returners in general in the nfl. But so that's just kind of it is what it is but did tony have anything that makes you feel better about him. I did see. He left practice early today. By the way over on big goal us so something to watch might be minor. We'll see A twenty one point six kick return average so not really good and in sourcing touchdown as apartment turner. He was better Although most of the work team in his senior season when he in the small sample size eleven four hundred thirty nine. So twelve point. Six average and one touchdown. So i mean i guess. He's in the mix too. But i think i mean raiders. College were better than that. So like i am far from your stand. Anyone who knows renascent knows that about me about like again. it's slim pickings. And he's like he was really a legitimate weapon at it in college like really really good. So maybe any again. He had a touchdown return last year. So maybe there's hope for him in that regard. I'm fine that so then overall here we've got way at punter. Graham gano at kicker who was the long snapper you made out rick. Labato rick levada. We have jalen reagor returning punts tony. Pollard returning kicks which leaves us head coach and general manager. Now the head coach thing. I don't think either one of us are going to sway the other Any an sec. Mix tape listeners. Know that you believe. In ron more than anybody in the inner cities. And i believe in mike mccarthy wanted anyone in the Which isn't saying a lot. It is perhaps the biggest indictment on the division as a whole i think though in the spirit of spicing things up. We should talk about general managers. I i i have a take and i'm curious if you agree is if you want me to go i i will unless you okay again. I'm sorry to you into really all. Bgn listeners who again i am. I am eagles fans favorite cowboys fan. We've established wrong already wrong. You're gonna say and you're wrong but again this is not like a game of this person is good at this particular job and sometimes it works out that way like when we're filling out the nfc east team but sometimes it is. This person is just the best of the worst and that is the case. Here it is howie roseman ask it is like i'm sorry it's how you look and if anything if anything you you've said several times howie. Roseman is great. I don't know if you've said about but he is great at finding value. And so if i if i'm gonna have anything that all at least i'll have a lot of value associated with the rest of the team and that's that's not horrible. You talked about winning the super bowl as like a sort of trump card of sorts in this particular game howie roseman did build a monster of a team that won the super bowl created. He destroyed it. But i mean how you roseman. Nobody else comes anywhere close. So you're wrong. But i do have howie roseman question. Mark written down. I on this because it's not easy. I don't think there's a no brainer pick year. Is it dave gettleman. I think they've got him in has been better. Recently i previously said he is my favorite demand or in the nfl. Because of how much of a joke he has been at times taking saquon barkley to taking daniel jones in part because they didn't want to hurt you. Lie manning's feelings. Because there is the whole thing about like being connected with a whatever like daniel jones the quarterback at duke there was a connection. There cutlets not the actor. Yeah they wanted to draft a successor. That wouldn't hurt allies feeling so Great job with that good priority to have so the giants you know get them in has been joked in the past although i will admit at been a little bit better recently or hasn't been as bad but still not him washington's weird like who who are we saying for washington because like they've had a weird structure i'll smith was there us running the show and then now he's not there anymore and is it doug williams because he's been there they added marnie hernia. I don't think he's truly running the show as he's kind of like there to be like ron rivera top guy and like it's almost like rivera's and i've even know who to put for them i. It's it's hard for for dallas The question here that i had for like we can't jerry jones here right. It's not jerry jones play. That's but he's not truly the dm right like that's the thing this is like. This is like top decision maker basically like this isn't just a title takeaway. Gm it's not about gm. It's about top decision maker like that's the literal qualification for this thing. So so it's kind of weird. It's this is the top rwanda parse through. Because of that. I thinking i had will. Maclay will mcclay next to how he rose on my seat year. Also question mark. Because i think the cowboys draft. Well think they've gotten They've done a good job of identifying talent in the jaffna so much this year but in years past and So i have him. It's tough though. I think with how we i have said those things about the value in yes. That is a strong suit. But he hasn't been as good as that lately on the whole and it's just really tough for me to look at super bowl fifty two and like he deserves all the credit in the world for that. Yes but when you look at the broader scope. It's so much clear that was lightning in a bottle and not some like stuff like well deserved like totally planned out. Like stroke of genius kind of thing. It was kind of dislike getting hot at the very right time like nick foles in the playoffs that year So it's tough. It's not an easy answer. I guess how he like by default but it. yeah even. i don't know that. I quite agree that it was lightning out about. I'm not far away from agreeing on that. By the way to be was again. I'm not far away from that at all. But if we want to like belittle it to the to the point of just labeling lightning in a bottle fine for the purposes of this conversation and it counts. I'm not trying to take it away to be clear. Just explain to be generating. I'm not saying it doesn't count taking away from it. But i'm saying this is not. This is the exception. Not the rule. Sure totally but even if that's true and again i'm not saying it's not but even if that's the case who else has done that you know i mean you mentioned we'll mcclay and i love will mcclay by the way i think the person for the purposes of this conversation that were qualified for washington is doug williams just so we have a face to point to But he's not in the running either here. Yes we'll mcclay has drafted well. Fine but the cowboys have also notoriously not spent in free agency and while yes. They've drafted. Well i mean they have not drafted. Well they're people used to think like. Oh my gosh. Every was first round. Pick us amazing. Think about since. I mean so okay since twenty if i just run the last decade quickly decade ish two thousand and ten dez bryant definitely two thousand seven smith awesome two thousand twelve trade about claiborne. Miss twenty thirteen travis. Frederick definite hit. Fourteen zack martin. We all agree. That the offensive lineman did extremely offer them..

"Johns was underrated as a cowboy. It is incredibly difficult to be underrated while. Remember the dallas cowboys. But it still did happen to chris jones But the cowboys held on way too long. They do with way too many people he got hurt. they went with hunter nicewander. Who only played in eight games in his nfl career. All with the dallas cowboys. John fossil said last week. Obviously before this week That brian anger who the guy was signed. This offseason Looks like the favourite to win the job. Brian anger a fun. Fact if any of your ever on jeopardy are playing pub trivia or anything like that was the punter who was drafted in the third round by the jacksonville jaguars. That's caused rich eisen to coin. His famed punters are people to comment. but still bryan anger while a veteran in the nfl. Not somebody that. I can feel comfortable enough putting on this list. Chess way wins in a landslide. I mean seriously. Like how is this. Competition mandalorian bilgee. Yeah yeah. This is way really like how you're dropping jeopardy references now when you never watched the show before i mean i have watched honestly seriously every episode since aaron rodgers hosted and i've enjoyed all of the different hosts. It's been fun. It's been interesting expense. I feel wiser and more stoop. Yes you are corrected to show ticker i want to say. It's not the cowboys. Kicker spoiler alert. it's you know what. I'll have a question for you but it is graham gano but go ahead. I mean it's as simple like he missed. One field goal last year knows from ninety six point. Nine field goal percents ninety one point. Three extra point percentage. Compared to greg's our line he was eighty two point nine years at ninety. One point seven for extra point Jake elliott has not been good so it can't be him. Dustin hopkins says not good so he can't be him. It's graham gano jake. Elliott to me is a classic example of life a great moment that people always reference and and then use that to care for the player like the game winner against the giants in two thousand seventeen early on that shaw. That's all anyone can ever remember any eagles fan. I presume which is why they are refusing to let go of him It's a symptom. We need a name that symptom thing that happens to football fans all the time. That's unfortunate. I am just in a general sense i am up on. Greg's are actually wrote about this recently. If if if. I do think i mean. He attempted more goals in anybody last year. And he was as far as his career is concerned suspiciously down from downtown. But i believe he attempted nine field goals from fifty plus rains. That's a lot I don't think the cowboys will have to settle for as many shovels. He attempted by the way more field goals than anybody in the nfl last year. so logic suggests that that will be down So i with you. It's graham gano again if you go what. He was thirty one of thirty two. I believe i mean you. You win this honour. So the giants didn't have a big presence on our all indices team. But they're coming up. Strongly have kicker. But i had a question for you biaggi. It's about kickers. This is more of a philosophical thing. I've written about it before As it pertains dan bailey. At the time. I am completely against kickers being your kickoff kicker. I don't think that would be the case ever because and this was again this was kind of four years ago. I did a deeper dive on dan specifically but you think about all that energy that they are using on kickoffs especially at the time you know. Dan bailey's if you want a really good offense at a lot of kickoff and that's just the kickoffs in games you've got practice kickoffs like i know i'm getting kind of nitty gritty here. But if you're an elite offensive weapon which dan bailey was and we're being totally serious here. Why would you not want to isolate the energy for the kicks that matter. You know what. I mean the new tiring out your partner. Who would you rather fire up. I mean the kickoff i mean. How many punters kickoff in the nfl. I mean it's it's like what less than fewer than ten probably i was thinking about digits. Yeah okay yeah. So i dunno hasn't been a big to this point. I do think it's interesting when punters do it. And i think someone are probably more equipped to do. Especially when you're looking at notre guy the i don't think like robbie gold if if he's still taking right i don't think like he does that. I think sometimes you know to preserve an order player. Maybe it makes more sensitive to young guy come on. They're barely barely out there anyway. They're only by in like a few snaps per game. They can handle it. It's fine there being millions of. Yeah i mean. I'm not trying to say like the difference between a super bowl team. A non super bowl team. But it's just it's an interesting exercise no pun intended. I think that should be should be talked about saying like i would like to have this conversation with john. Harbaugh special teams master. Certainly with his time with the worst franchise in the nfl. But anyway it is what it is. So we've got tress way graham gano. You were very excited to talk about the long snapper on the all. Nfc east team. And so i'll give you the stage seconds kind of make your case and i'll make mine i. I believe we spoke about this on the first volume of the mix tape the cowboys cut. Lp ladder this offseason who Was their longest tenured player and the reason for that that a lot of cowboys fans tin foil hat believe in case anybody forgot is because this season he would have passed..

chris jones Jake elliott Dustin hopkins eighty aaron rodgers ninety six point ninety dan bailey last year last week Johns John fossil ninety one point Dan bailey eight games dallas cowboys third round four years ago Greg brian

"Colts, Browns, Ravens and Dolphins is going to be sitting at home watching the playoffs Come next week, all of those teams except for the Colts. Controls their desk today, and that's where most of the drama is in these one o'clock games. Now the Browns they're taking care of their business. Early on Nick Chubb, a Russian judge down Brown, seven Steelers Nothing. Of course, the Steelers not started been robbed this burger. Some other regulars are out as well. Mason Rudolph making the start at quarterback, the Ravens also taking care of what they need to they have a 10. Nothing laid on the Cincinnati Bangles Lamar Jackson, a 43 yard touchdown pass. To Boykin on again. 10 Nothing. Baltimore on top two minutes to play in the first quarter, the Dolphins, a small lead on the buffalo Bills, and three to nothing. And they have 3.5 minutes to play in the first quarter later, the Colts host the Jaguars and the Titans visit. The Texans don't know the whole picture until later on in the day. As for the NFC East, the five way and Giants and Cowboys still with a shot at this thing, the Giants have a 63 laid Sterling Shepherd, a 23 yard rushing touchdown. Graham Gano, however, wide left on the extra point. Cowboys answered back with a field goal. So there it is. 63 Giants. Those warmers. The winner of that game will feel good about themselves for a few hours, and then we'll have to watch Sunday night football. The winner. Will need Washington to lose to Philadelphia tonight. Alex Smith is healthy and expected to start for Washington going back all of us back in April and presented this week week 17 with the division on the line. I think everybody would take it across the league and you couldn't couldn't ask for anything better than this.
