"Game it was. But. Yeah. It was just a lot of stressful hours. Yeah. Well, actually, get those games. Yeah. And one of the things that I'm always been impressed with is you talk about the technological advances. Immediately after a game win or lose. If our whole collective group is on the road. And we're getting all the charter flight were settling in the planes. You and Jay Lucas and coach horn. I mean, the whole the whole coaching staff and shock, obviously, you're all sitting down at immediately. The laptops are up at a media. You're diving into the game just-completed next opponent. I mean, I guess that speaks to the Tech- technological advance is amazing. You know, we're fortunate. We have four graduate assistant managers, you're doing awesome job and do a ton of work behind the scenes of of just getting that stuff on computers and clipped up and our barb film coordinator, also north cut. It doesn't amazing job as well. Just keeping us all up today. When you look at that. And you take boy if I had that when I was doing this. I'd be way ahead of the Dow, right? Yep. But it all I mean, there's a lot of work. His way. Is it the goal always asked an assistant coach when he's on with us down the road. You wanna be a collegiate head coach that's the that would be the goal because always here head coaches, and I've heard chocolate state as well that I head coach really doesn't walk coaches on the staff don't ultimately want to be coached down the road. But is that is that your your goal? Yeah. If that's if.

"Chris Rashard is a guy likes to be aggressive at the line. So you know, Rashard coming out of USC playing for the Seahawks from two thousand to two thousand four. Then being traded to the dolphins in two thousand five then signed by the forty Niners later that season in the Oakland Raiders in two hundred seven before retiring than hired in two thousand eight by Pete Carroll as a graduate assistant for USC, then falling to the NFL is secondary. Coach overseeing legendary legion of boom. And then after losing Super Bowl the Seahawks from what it recharges to these -fensive quarter to replace Dan Quinn will become a head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. And then they just mentioned on January twenty second two thousand eighteen this past season. He was hired to be the Cowboys as defensive backs coach. But really the defacto defensive coordinator as he calls all the plays on Sundays and install a lot of the game plan alongside Rodman Anneli interesting tidbit reported by model saga of the Miami Herald, Adam gates actually shouts chard after the season at to ask them to come to my as defensive coordinator retard declined you'll get his chance to come back to Miami. Hopefully, but you look at videos of chard and the passion the way he commands the camera the way he talks to the players to others. It's just very it's magnetic reminds me of Dan Campbell, except here's a guy who knows his accent. Is knows reminds me the passion of Darren Rizzi, but a guy who's great on one side of the ball. I really don't think on the surface. You can go wrong with Chris Rashard? Obviously, no one knows how a head coach is going to do in the NFL when they get to that position. But to me, it seems he is the most qualified out of the coaches dolphins actually interviewed men includes Eric the enemy that includes Dennis Allen, if they talked to Vic Fangio that may have changed a little bit, but they're not talking to him. So for me Sharda as the clear coat first place top candidate that I want to delve into higher floors would be second Rizzi would be third house. I know you're a big fan of Chris Rashard? So I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on him. He's Chris Rashard guru on sensitive radio. I think we all like Krista short. But it's interesting you say that Adam gates, you know, reached out into the defense quarter 'cause words not that we can say here say convincingly, but there's a good chance of season could have been a little different. If you know map wasn't in there. Chris for short was the defense coordinator. So. Oh, that's a little fun fact there. But for me, I think he's a guy who he had success in Seattle. He called the plays. He calls the plays. Now what he's done to Dallas as defenses extraordinary compared to what we saw last season from them. So he he's a guy who like you said he's vocal. He goes out there and shows a motion in he's a former player, I talked about it. I talked about as well. He was traded to the dolphins or he was. Yeah. His trade to the dolphins in two thousand five he'd never played a game. But he was a Miami dolphin. So come back home, Chris Rashard? Hopefully, douse loses this weekend. 'cause no one wants to see douse when they lose..

"Training staff. Water goes were racing onto the field. The players get back. Not a timeout. If you're in your twenties, are you still a waterborne or are you a water? Young man. Graduate assistant and women for that matter. Yeah. So play resumes moving clock. Twenty third quarter is facing a third sixteen out of their own Twenty-three look into the left grows that way, people out of the backfield bottles. It drops it. It was a low throw Romeo. Finley one of the safety of the hurricanes was coverage and a bad series Virginia Tech, and they're gonna have to put it back to Jeff Thomas. Fifty are punt return for a touchdown, right? Good luck. I mean people's was hoping that was a drop by hand, but he would have been cackled well short of the line again. Anyway. Anything that would hurt Virginia Tech because the clock would have just kept going even though they didn't have a chance to actually get detects got all kinds of formations going here on this punt racing out to the left. The ball though is on the right hash. So now they finally lined up over their Oscar Bradburn away to kick it. Rolls to his left left-footed boot try to keep it away from Thomas this type off patrol, and who was laughing. He picks it up again. Still on his feet prey to other thirty five. Sideline. Picks up a block at the forty five cross midfield cuts. It back at the forty and he's finally pushed out of bounds. Credible. Jeff Thomas off the hop. This guy's got some guts. I can't believe.

"So coach James calls me and said, I want you to be graduate assistant, and I said, coach, I don't wanna go to graduate school and I don't wanna be coach. So why would I be graduate assistant? And he said, I not only want you to graduate assistant. I want you to be here in the spring 'cause we have a new secondary coach wrong Lynn, who eventually became a coordinator in the NFL because my secondary coach Ma vibrant retired. So I say coats, that means I can't play baseball. And he said, you're not going to the major leagues in baseball. Said it's time for you to think about what you're going to do next in your life, and I really didn't want to do it, but he said your wife's got another year a school, so you can't go take a job someplace. So I mean he had a really compelling argument for me being a graduate assistant, and you know what? I didn't want to do that, and I did it and I loved it. And you know, that's a great sort of lesson for a lot of young people who think they know what they wanna do, and somebody makes us suggestion to own to try something and they don't wanna try it. I would suggest that you try, you might like it and this. I never felt like I've gone to work. I've been doing this for forty some years now. There's not the first day that I feel like when I get up in the morning, man, I gotta go to work today. Never never. And you know that's a blessing if you can do that to you, say yes to cars was who he was, and I couldn't say no to them, and but he was a great. Mentor, and I had a tremendous amount of respect for him, and he probably is one of the five people that had the greatest impact on my life and my future. Besides my parents and I have the utmost tremendous respect for him and everything that he accomplished and everything he did. He's truly one of the great coaches and our game that probably doesn't get recognized as much as I should you say that you've never not wanted to go to work in the morning, but at least from out here it looks like you've enjoyed yourself more in recent years. Is that, is that fair? Do you enjoy the moments now more than you did when you were younger and the next step was just the next step?.

"Yeah i think that's that's a great example and i think know a lot of people entering graduate school are choosing going with our eyes open and knowing what their income as a graduate assistant might be but i also i want to say that one of the fights around a graduate student labor and graduate student union organizing rights i'm trying to be recognized for collective bargaining it's not just about pay it's also about things like protection against sexual harassment it's about in some cases access to workers comp where people who are injured on the job in their job as a graduate assistant in some states have been an in some universities have been defined outside of the worker's comp system so we get people doing very dangerous work in labs working with chemicals and and they don't have access to workers comp when they get injured in the era of metoo were seeing the importance of having appropriate procedures for people who have experienced sexual harassment other forms of sexual misconduct so there are a number of as it's not just the salary that being recognized as employees and being able to collectively bargain for their rights can really really make a huge difference so if i understand right some universities are frightening being ta as an educational experience right well they are trying to define the graduate assistants as a centrally students who are doing a few things here and there that are only enhancing their education but aren't contributing anything.

"In college but in college only to run temple attended doesn't really matter and so you mentioned the installation on the on the pro level of being you know forty fifty plays per day or something like that on a certain level when you're in college what was you know you have the job for three years and maybe this changed over the course of your three years as you got older and more experienced but what was the typical how many plays were installed in a given week in college you know you would feel comfortable with in our game play we had about seventy eighty a game plan it would take a little bit more i mean the biggest thing is you know you have thing colleges you have so much more time to understand what you're done because i mean you're in a team setting most of the year anyways and professional right he's gotta get with a quarterback coaching off season or understand what he's done because those codes are taking vacation to you know they wanna get away and everything so that self some teach is harder to do in a professional right been in college and mainly because you know college they're always gonna be that support toes go on the ski trip and there's always gonna be that graduate assistant who understand the playbook inside out we help you diagnose that understand it where the pros on sitting in a man you're watching it by yourself so you sit there and watch you can watch seven hundred minutes of film but you understand why you're watching what you're watching you really wear time you talk about in college sort of the communication that you had with coaches and always being team setting and the gradison who knows the playbook inside and out.

"So much i am so happy to have you back i'm really excited you have so much to share so if you did listen to alexia's first appearance on the town and grow show which was episode ten then you can definitely learn tons of new stuff year it is not a repeat episode and if you haven't yet listen to alexia app just wait you are in for a treat so alexia the one thing i guess you will store repeat because i don't want to assume people did hear a your of professional journey and we always start with that here on the town grow show just give us the brief encapsulation of where did you start and we are you now absolutely and it's funny because when time passes you start to look at your life and career for different lens so it's quite possible that what isis hateful actually be different through all true like much of may her coworkers informed by my background in learning development so that wasn't a career path i necessarily chose i like to say that it's somewhat chose knee i was in graduate school and when you i wound up as a graduate assistant for an educational cedar company in i thought i was going to be going into schools and working with young people talking about difficult social issues which was but what the organization i worked for did that i wound up being placed in the professional development arm of the company so i was doing the work with teachers and social workers needs development professionals teaching them how to use interactive learning strategies to veteran gauge their audiences and i love that work i didn't love this salary cap that is inherent in a lot of nonprofit organization and as i started to explore what i really enjoyed most which was the coaching the facilitation pieces that i got to do when training and when i liked last which was all the administration a few people in my worlds and you should really think about this thing called coaching and this was in the early days before everybody and her mother said i give good advice are asking questions i should be a.
