Brave Republicans Confront DOJ About Whitmer 'Entrapment'

"A handful of Intrepid Republicans, and it's, it shouldn't be a handful. It should be the Republicans in a unified political phalanx. But no, it takes the brave ones to go out front. And here I'm talking about, I'm gonna name them. It's led by Marjorie Taylor Greene, but you've got Scott Perry, Dan bishop, Andrew Clyde, Andy Biggs, bob good, Mary Miller, Paul gosar, Andy Harris, Louie gohmert, Thomas massie Matt Gaetz, well, what are they doing? In the aftermath of the exoneration of two key defendants in the Whitmer kidnapping trial, the pressing attorney general Garland for some specific answers. Now, trying to get answers out of Garland is not an easy business. This is like going to the consigliere of Don Corleone and saying, hey, listen, we're we want to find out more about the mafia. You're actually talking to the mafia. But nevertheless, this needs to be done. And so this is a stinging letter and a demand. Of Merrick Garland copied a Christopher wray, and the questions themselves are telling, let me just read a couple of them. Who within the DoJ and the FBI knew about or was involved in the plot to kidnap governor Whitmer, tell us. Remember, this is a letter being sent by the legislators to the executive branch, which is accountable to the legislative branch. Number two, to what extent would the DoJ and the FBI motivated by the 2020 presidential election to paint political opponents as domestic terrorists specifically Vis-à-vis the plot to kidnap governor Whitmer and the events of the U.S. capitol on January 6th, 2021. In other words, this is not just at the FBI staging orchestrating infiltrating and moving along a plot. This is the FBI timing those events to coincide with an election. So the issue here being raised is the election interference, very important issue because these revelations came to light in early October of 2020.

The Governor Whitmer Entrapment Scheme Is the Stuff of Fiction

"Let's talk about some important stuff here with Julie Kelly, who is one of the great Americans who has taken it upon herself to cover the abuses of power by the deep state by the left by the Biden administration and the DoJ. And Julie, I hate to have a slightly positive attitude, but we got good news on Friday in that insane and trapped scheme that they did with the governor Whitmer attempt non kidnapping. Tell us about what happened. Jim, I say often that if you had the greatest fiction writer in the world, you could not have this person author a crazier story. That would happen. The various characters, including just low life FBI agents and informants who entrapped these several kind of sad misfits in a way, and other innocent men were given into the spot so they could produce the FBI once again interfere in a presidential election. We saw a certain negative headlines for Donald Trump as millions of Americans were voting for president in October of 2020.

Dinesh Reads the Tea Leaves of the Whitmer Kidnapping Trial

"The trial of the ragtag defendants who supposedly plotted a kidnapping of governor Whitmer is now underway. It's been jury selection going on. The general framework of the case has been set up. And it's going to be an interesting case, I think, because on the one hand, you've got the FBI and the prosecution trying to vindicate a kind of official leftist narrative. And what's that narrative that you've got these right wing, a kind of white supremacist, almost a prelude to January 6th, motivated by president Trump, and they were trying to do a political hit on Whitmer, and this was, of course, the narrative that Whitmer herself jumped on, she made a video right after the arrest of the perpetrators, the alleged perpetrators, and she said, when our leaders meet with encourage or fraternize with domestic terrorists, they legitimize their actions, where the leaders, she's actually referring here to Trump. They are complicit. Now, Whitmer knew at the time that there was a lot more to this story. And this is really going to be the heart of the defense, and there was some question about whether the judge and the Whitmer, this Whitmer trial, would permit the defense. And the defense is this. The FBI set it up. The FBI entrapped these defendants, the FBI actually concocted this whole case. They set up the mechanisms for doing it. They made sure that the plot was moved forward at every stage, and then finally they turned around and busted the perpetrators the bay had put up to it in the first

"All right. Leland Conway in for Jimmy Barrett on Houston's Morning news. By the way, you could follow me on Twitter. It's at Leland Chauffeur. Follow along. He heads up on what we're talking about. This morning, Shera. You mentioned Governor Whitmer of Michigan, who They uncovered that plot to attack her. And you brought up the point that despite what the media is saying, these people were not trump supporters. They were anarchists. They wanted to bring down the system. We'll have another interesting sound bite from the press conference. That was Wittmer did And I just want to point this out because I think it's interesting giving the rhetoric fromthe left over the summer for preparing to kidnap and possibly kill me. When I put my hand on the Bible and took the oath of office 22 months ago, I knew this job would be hard, but I'll be honest and never could have imagined anything like this. I want to start by saying Thank you to our law enforcement. Thank you to the fearless FBI agents and thank you to the brave Michigan State police troopers who participated in this operation. I find this very interesting coming from a very left wing Democrat after the rhetoric over the summer, in which Democrats at least tacitly Agreed, if not outright, agreed that it kept their mouth shut about the idea of the funding the police Suddenly. When you know the same thing happened with the was at the Baltimore mayor. That was like you can't protest here, Um, in left wing cities around the country. Suddenly they care about law enforcement again. When? What Law enforcement keeps them safe. And I just thought that was kind of interesting. Given what you brought up in the in that segment on. Obviously, the media is reporting this. They want to try to tie this to Trump Wittmer went on to completely blame Trump. In all of this and and repeat the lie that he refused to condemn white supremacist, which is absolutely a boldface lie. He's done it multiple times and the debate slip up. Which it wass a slip up. When the president said, standby or whatever, it was clear that it was it was ah, vocal mess up, but the next day he came out with the media asked him and he said, Yeah, of course I did not. Of course, I denounced them, and he denounced. Thiss group. Whatever they are the problems, whatever he denounced them specifically by name. So it's a lie that he didn't denounce white supremacy. And and if you look at his record over, not only justice presidency but even prior to that of working with people across lines of cultural Differences. Hey, has a long record and has won awards even from the CP and others for his work with minority groups, etcetera, So it's this is all a concoction. Of the left wing media. I started out as a journalist, obviously. Commentating now, but I remember The first news room that I worked in. I was the only conservative politically. And my boss who we remain friends to this day was very, very liberal and he was our top guy and he came over and he said, Look. Everybody is biased because your worldview will shape how you see things, he said. What you will always be bias. There's nothing to do about that. But what you can do and what you must do as a newsperson. To be fair. And that stuck with me and modern day journalism is anything but fair. We'll get into that because I've got some very interesting things about the upcoming debate, which the president is saying he's not going to be part of the virtual debate. We'll get into that, and next is well. Three sound bites. That show that the left have lost their ever loving mind. That's all coming up. But right now let's get to traffic.

"The ballot as to whether or not we should recall Governor Whitmer from her post. It's a very daunting task for this recall initiative. But that does not mean we should not take it up. If you go to recall governor Whitmer dot com petition start circulating on July 29th and they have exactly two months to gather 1,062,676 143 signatures. That's over 10% to the population of Michigan. That is a very daunting challenge. But if successful, it would put that recall language on the ballot for people to vote. I think at the next election, which is roughly, I think it's February dependent when they get the ballots are the petition then and validated. The other initiative. Now the recall initiative is a people that initiative if you want to go off and get our legislature involved and actually get them fighting back in a more substantive manner than they have been to date. The way that they can go off and address the governor's unlawful actions is with impeachment. And Ah, and I think there are serious grounds for this impeachment. I talked about the fact that she's Ah, I believe she's guilty of criminal negligence by encouraging covert 19 positive patients to go into nursing homes. She's on. She's already violating the 1976 p ay 3 90 long with her unlawful extensions of the emergency powers without the consent of the legislature. She's violated. Ah, 3 14 of 2014 which is a right to try act when she threatened the removal of The license to practice medicine for position that prescribed Hydroxy Clark went for the treatment of Hydroxy Clark. One are for the treatment of covert 19. And I'll tell you. That's the medicine that Democrat representative Karen Wits that credit to her recovery from Cove in 19 and she also gave gratitude. Tio President Trump as a result of that. And you know how she was treated by her fellow Democrats. When she did that she was actually kicked out a Democratic party and now she's got an uphill struggle to go off and get re elected. You know, I mean, I agree much on policies with represented Karen whipped up, but you know what? I really love about her. Is that she put the priorities for constituents first, and we need more people serving like that in Lansing. And then there's another initiative. That kind of undercuts what the governor Whitman has been leaning against for a long time. For a long time, and I'll get into that a little bit after the break, and that's unlike Michigan, But before you get into that I want to finish up on the impeachment process. You realize all it takes is for one member of our Michigan House of Representatives. To introduce a resolution to impeach Governor Whitmer to get the ball rolling. That's all it takes. Once it gets introduced. It's up to the speaker of the house. Get it up on the floor. And have a vote on the articles of impeachment. And all they need is a simple majority in the house, and there's a Republican majority in there, but I think they could get a bipartisan impeachment passage in the in the House. And it goes over into the Senate. And in the Michigan Senate. There's AH, currently 22 Republicans out of out of 38. They need 26 for a super majority, and they need a supermajority in order to convict the governor of those offenses. So But the key is our therefore Democrats that are concerned about the criminal negligence of Governor Wimmer. Putting those cove in 19 patients in the nursing homes is their concern and four Democrats that about her undermining of the rule of law. In the unlawful executive orders she'd been issuing that it completely ignore Public act of 3 90 of 1976. That remains to be seen. But right now we haven't even made the case for the fact that she should be impeached, and I think there's a lot out there. Governor. Women has been getting a lot of cover from the media. At the very least, it starts putting that out there in public, so people have to examine her record, and her record is not good on the response. A cove in 19 And once again whether she's re called or impeached. What happens at the end of that is that to the tonic governor would assume that role so lot to discuss when we get back from the break here. I'm gonna zero in on the unlocked Michigan initiative and a lot to discuss there so Talk to you in a little bit. "Governor Whitmer has kind of been at odds with the president I would say for the last I don't know forever but specifically this last week kind of their feuding has come to light because he was going to miss again to go to that Ford plant and she said all right I'm going to relax things so you can come to this plant and then the plant people said but you have to wear a mask you had the voting issues there the mail in voting going on where the president has already threatened to stop federal aid to the state if they do their mail in voting and she says already on top of all this I basically keep my mouth shut say what I have to say and that's it because I want the federal aid to keep coming back into the states this strikes me as a one way feud in other words governor what we're just doing what she thinks she should do as the governor and then trump is yelling at her about everything that's happening over there I don't I don't see I don't think she's not really taking pot shots at the president and now we know one of the reasons why because she's afraid he will pull funding you'll notice that the rhetoric from Gavin Newsom in California towards the administration has been fairly mellow right yes they not these are people who know how to play that particular game except she shouldn't publicly say I'm holding back that's the only thing now that I would criticize her for is you don't say oh yeah I'm not saying all the stuff I'm thinking you just don't say it right she bill handled herself yeah she did big time well we got a big lawsuit in California over voting by.

"Rogue Secretary of State" Jocelyn Benson

"In two thousand eighteen Jocelyn Benson was elected as secretary of state in Michigan. It was part of a historic sweep. Where women were also elected to the governorship and to the Attorney General's office then the corona virus hit and Donald Trump went on the warpath personally attacking governor. Whitmer as she fought to get her citizens access to needed medical equipment. Well now he's also attack. Jocelyn calling her a rogue secretary of state for her plan to make sure all Michigan voters can apply to get an absentee ballot. This fall keeping them safe from the virus and ensuring everyone has a chance to vote. Jocelyn joined us to talk about the monumental importance of voting rights in the age of trump and the corona virus. This year we saw the. You're the woman. Two Point Gretchen. Whitmer Dana Nessel Jocelyn Benson Debbie Stamina and the list goes secretary of state of the Great State of Michigan. Four four my duties to invest in my abilities regard. Help me guys. The Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says. She sees nothing wrong with paper ballots. Secretary of state says the voter absentee ballot. Applications are great way for voters to vote in coming elections without risking their. How ahead of a planned visit to Michigan Tomorrow? President trump is targeting the leaders of the state on twitter president trump on Wednesday threatened to withhold federal funding to Michigan after the state announced that all of the states registered. Voters would receive applications for absentee ballots in the mail this year. Benton Secretary of State of Michigan on fighting every day to ensure that every voice is heard and every vote is counted. Sorry not sorry first of all. Thank you so much for doing this. I really really appreciate it. It's interesting because you have a job that I don't think a lot of people fully grasp what you do as secretary of State in Michigan. You're responsible for overseeing elections. But can you give my listeners? Really an overview of what that entails. And just broadly what? The job secretaryastate position in most states overseas democracy and that means everything from money in politics and regulating promoting disclosure of bat to the actual act of casting a ballot and making sure those votes are counted accurately protecting the security of the process. Anything that goes into ensuring that our democracy runs well flows lows through each state secretary of State and from your perspective. What is the biggest threat to our democracy? And you can do that. Broadly but you can also do that in Michigan. Well Yeah I always say that. A healthy democracy requires an engaged. An informed electorate and so in that way biggest threat is disengaged and misinformed electorate. I think you need both. You need everyone. Voting particular especially systems of underrepresented communities whose voices has historically been at the table and decisions. That are made them. But you also need to to be informed about all the aspects of an issue that they can make independent decisions about what's best for them. We're having our communities so to me really. You need people. Running the system secretaries of state and we need elected representatives who all kind of flow into that any neighbouring and encourage engagement and Commission. Of course the media as well but if you poke short on either of those two metrics those two pieces than democracy is threatened and. I think that's some of what we are seeing today where you have in some cases. Low turnout or disengagement or feeling of apathy or. My vote doesn't matter. My voice doesn't matter which is the exact opposite of which real and democracy or people not having access to accurate information about the decisions that are being made note decision makers that are making them can hold them accountable. We here and we've heard a lot about Michigan this cycle. So what makes it so important in this election besides the Electoral College? And how did it become a battleground? These chicken is a collection of voters that really reflects the entire country in many ways certainly in the Midwest and you've got a very diverse population we've got the largest concentrations for example Arab American voters in the country. We've got strong urban areas with unique stories and history like Detroit and Flint and high levels of communities of color growing Tino population and then a lot of the state is very rural. And so the racial demographics. The economic demographics -cation you have also right next to Detroit. One of the wealthiest per capita community in the country and they got in some ways integregation and many of the problems that afflict and having the country historically are reflected in Michigan. There's a great thing I saw when I personally hear when Michigan accuses the whole country gets a cold that in some ways is a bellwether state. Her a lot of different things is that because of the people because of history because of the community that can indicate how rest of the country like feeling going and attention on our state certainly over the past ten years when it comes to presidential elections. Really underscored that.

How Michigan's governor is battling coronavirus

"Jonathan Cape Heart. Welcome to this special edition of Cape. Up Two separate interviews with two elected officials in two different jurisdictions dealing with the corona virus. Pandemic Governor Gretchen of Michigan and Chicago. Mayor Lori. Lightfoot the start with Governor Whitmer who after instituting one of the strictest. Stay at home. Orders in the nation is getting set to review them and ask her why after all the attacks and president trump. She's polling better than him in a brand new Fox News. Poll Governor Whitman. Thank you very much for coming on the PODCAST. Client to be with him. So you have one of the strictest. Stay at home orders and now word comes that you're now reevaluating that stay at home order. What's changed to make that possible so I think you know? I want to assure kind of the rational. Why we have one of the strictest. Stay home orders. Michigan is the tenth most populous state in the nation. And yet we had the third highest death in the nation and that's something that It has just absolutely devastated. Communities across my state created an incredible amount of fear and concern and we know that Cova nineteen was spreading far and wide long before it was ever detected via test so it took actions to keep people safe and there are more restrictive than other states but I thought that it was absolutely essential after a few weeks of the stay home pasture. We have seen our trajectory. Really Start to flatten. We've saved lives on one of the things about Public Health when you're successful. You've never able to really quantify precisely. How many lives he saved. But we know that. This strategy is working here in Michigan. Every day. We're learning more about Kobe. Bank teen we are crunching the data. We are learning more through increased testing. We're not where we want to be your where we need to be as a nation and sterling. That's that's true in Michigan as well but we are seeing This data that gives us Optimism and so as we evaluate extending the stay home order. We're also an a moment where we can evaluate if there are some things that we might Lighten up on not dramatic changes but changes. That may bring us more in line with some of our our other states and so this is a moment where alphabet evaluation is happening. I'm GonNa make a very Thoughtful data driven determination that centered around promoting public health but also ensuring that people are still eager to abide by the stay home. Stay safe order. I think that's always the balance fat that we have to do here to make sure that we keep compliance than and we keep giving people confidence that we've got a strategy to re-engage in a very thoughtful safe manner so this is not a just so that no one thinks that you're gonNA completely junk your stay at home order. This is. This is going to be something. That is gradual. Sure yes absolutely. This is we're going to look at it. I think the trump administration says as a some people say we're GONNA open stages I like the visual of waves were We're surrounded by the great late. So I'm always thinking in those terms but I do think that we are going to be very thoughtful. We're GONNA have to measure every step of the way There will be you know it'll be necessary that we're nimble if we see a spike Dr. Start to happen that we pull back when necessary that if we are continuing to see success as we open things up where numbers stay down in our ability to meet the needs in our hospitals that are PPA. Needs are much than we can. Take the next step forward. But I think that the the leader's epidemiology and and health sciences across our country are advocating. That is the best practice to avoid a second wave and I hope even if you're a dissenter of the current stay home order we can all agree that avoided. A second wave is the most critical thing that we need to do. It will save lives but it would be absolutely devastated under economies Leeann. A second wave two so you are a part of a compact of states and correct me if I'm wrong. Great Lakes Region Governors who have joined together in sort of dealing with the with the pandemic at can that compact that you're in hold if each of you opens up your respective economies separately or are you given the evaluate reevaluation that you're undertaking and the one that Governor Dewine Ohio is undertaking are those being coordinated so that way these the waves of reevaluation as you put it are all being done in. Concert saved us. You know one of the things that I have found incredibly helpful in these unprecedented times is that I've got group of governors with whom I can share information and data and our thoughts and learn from and I think it's made all of our determinations better the fact that we've got an open dialogue and it's open with Democrats and Republicans. I think that's really important when I pulled kids out of schools here in Michigan as one of the first states to do that and immediately got a call for my friend. Jay Pritzker governor of Illinois. Same tell me. Your thought process did you. What are your experts telling you because they were contemplating it but I had made the decision and they wanted to understand you know weeks later. Maybe a week later when he decided to close bars in Illinois and Mike Dewine closed bars in Ohio and they made the restaurants dine out. Only I got on the phone with both of eminent said. Tell me your thought process. Tell me what you're seeing so I think that the sharing of information has been incredibly helpful. There are many people who can understand all the pressures that we are under but we certainly can understand it from one another and in the global pandemic were all in the in the same situation and we've got similar economies and so I think that's important. That's what really drove Reaching out and trying to get everyone to join this kind of Compact that doesn't mean that when I make a decision in Michigan Kentucky Ohio Indiana Minnesota Wisconsin Illinois. We're going to make the same exact decision at the same cadence but what it does mean is that we are having those robust conversations. I am organizing it. So we're getting on the phone regularly and our teams are as well so that our sharing at we are learning from one another and it makes all of our decisions that are informed and I think better decisions you you created the Michigan Corona virus taskforce on racial disparities and it's dedicated to the memory of Schuyler. Herbert who had five years old is the youngest person to dive the corona virus in in Michigan. It's the Task Force is headed up by your Lieutenant Governor. Why is this task force important sort of a leading question? But I'll have you hold forth. Well you know So you know governor Garland Gilchrist as the chair of this task force and one of the things that I'm really proud that we did in Michigan. We were one of the first states to do it. And frankly not Everyone has followed suit and I'm hopeful that eventually we'll have every state following suit but we've been releasing racial data on our current virus cases now even when it's not completely full because we do have a lot of Tests that were conducted on. The race was not noted early on in the process by gathering. This data has really put a spotlight. On the fact that we've got a disparate health outcomes and anyone who studied it anyone who's been paying attention isn't surprised by that but I think I think the surprise is that is so desperate that fourteen percent of the Michigan population is African American and yet forty percent of the deaths from Kobe. Nineteen are African American. And I think that that's something that we absolutely have to in this crisis. Learn the lesson and make them. Societal changes to improve outcomes and to have real equity meister. I gave a few months ago. It feels like a lifetime ago. Now highlighted. Is that a good part of my save. The state addressing the dispirit outcomes for women of Color and babies of color is three times more dangerous Three times more deadly for a woman of color to have a baby in Michigan than it is for women. And there's implicit bias. There there are a lot of contributing factors. I think it's incumbent on every leader. Everyone who has a position of authority to understand that? That's an issue that there's a problem and we've got to fix it and I think this is held a mirror up to our country and really magnified The the historic racial discrepancies. That we have in our society and fix them

"Governor Whitmer tells a broadcast town hall that the peak of the corona virus is still weeks away in Michigan she says that school districts are free to teach students online in the wake of her order closing the school buildings for the rest of the school year we have to recognize that each district has different challenges and also different resources and that's why it's so important that our local partners who are on the front line are helping design with the remainder of the school year looks like says there's no decision on extending her stay at home order Dr Mona Hanna Attisha says she's doing fine she tested positive for corona virus the flint doctor who study detected the flint water emergency is asking others who have recovered to donate plasma like she has a Detroit bus driver who went live on Facebook to complain about a writer who was coughing all over his bus has died of the Colbert nineteen a second fiat Chrysler employee has died of the virus that person worked at the mopar parts distribution center in center line Dr Fauci says the stay at home waters will have a delayed effect on the numbers so even when you suppress or stabilize the number of new infections it's still gonna take a while before you see a decrease in hospitalizations decrease in intensive care and a decrease in deaths in fact deaths well the last thing that lag so you could be doing well and having a good effect on mitigation and still see the deaths go up a guaranteed that's exactly what's going to happen in New York City New York governor Cuomo is warning distaste supply of ventilators is running out these ventilators are very it's very simple person comes into the I see you unit they need the ventilator or they die it is this is that basic a proposition we have about six days at the current burn rate of ventilators the food and drug administration is authorized a corona virus test that looks for antibodies in the blood the FDA says it's reasonable that it may be effective people still have to go to the store Dr Gupta says wiping down the groceries is a very good idea here's the view of the pandemic from the I have a local grocery store worker you know I think that during crisis either you see the best of people were the worst you know either your hero or zero and I've seen a lot of disturbing stuff the worker did not want his name used he works for a well known grocery store chain says working in the food sector right now is like being in a war zone the U. S. has stopped issuing passports the Dow Jones futures are down one hundred eighty three I've Decatur WJAR news more coming up with Paul W. more hearing the Paul W. Smith show news talk seven sixty WJAR seven thirty three we go directly to a very very busy governor Gretchen Whitmer and governor good morning thank you for last night's virtual town hall was on all the television stations WJR carried it and any kind of communication including these morning visits are extremely helpful and we appreciate the governor thanks to all of you I'm glad to be with you we have a lot to talk about very quickly what's the most important thing you'd like us all to take from last night in this or anything you want to add that that you never got around to because you were taking questions from that viewers and listeners well I think that fit all when it was really helpful I hope it was informative for people it was an opportunity to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about each of those anchors had gotten I'm grateful that they did this unprecedented staying and joined forces to host this I think doctor Jimmy Calhoun and I are both the appreciate the opportunity to answer some questions on this is really important people understand how serious this covert nineteen as in that none of us is immune everyone of us can be carrying it some of us are already without even knowing that and that's precisely why these aggressive actions were taken as a state arts are so important one of the things that Dr J. was asked and that I think is something worse your listeners relate thinking about as why should we all be wearing masks and I want to start first and foremost by saying the surgical masks and the and ninety five masks are in such short supply and that's what our frontline healthcare providers need mostly if anyone has those were asking that they that they get in over their local hospital four if you are able to where I. I. different type of managed you know it's not a bad idea and so someone give me a mask made out of Detroit tiger fabric and and that's something that that I'll probably wear on occasion but I'm not out about very often anymore and and accessible but not congregating and not in stores or anything from getting groceries and so what is this is a a governor sore spot with me because you don't know this but for weeks if not a month or two I have been suggesting masks to be used and I was criticized by doctors telling me oh no that won't really help anything and now we know for sure that if everyone were wearing masks a month or two ago seeing it being done in China and elsewhere at least the disease wouldn't have spread as much as it had because people who didn't even know they were sick but we're wearing a mask would not be spreading the disease as they did so I don't want to start on that now there's a story in USA today that is so annoying that we'll get to do you know that U. S. masks and other equipment that we're desperately needing ventilators surgical garments the surgical masks all of that were being sold to China in record numbers in January this is our products made in the United States being sold to China and therefore with no concern whatsoever about our need for them but don't I don't want to get off on that right now because your time is too valuable but it's annoying and and it angers me into charge what I think that's part you know I mean I I know that when I talk about we really could use a national strategy here some people say oh you're beating up on the administration I'm not it's it's a hearing conservation match I national strategy is merited here we've got fifty states are were all bidding against one another trying to get our hands on every piece of personal protection equipment we can't we've got some states that have not yet been issued stay home orders at this juncture even though Dr Fauci insane now we should be international stay home order and so it is it is something of a source of frustration I think you're feeling it but I can tell you I am a call because Copa nineteen doesn't observe state lines corporate nineteen doesn't your party lines it doesn't observe any separation and that's why the only thing that we can do to really slow this down as if to be Rusev and events fashioning your own mask and wearing it it doesn't mean that you can necessarily stop into close contact with you should do that and the six foot rule and wash your hands and do all the other pieces but it can't hurt and that's precisely where we've got to really be as aggressive as as we can be again pretending acting as if you are infected and that everyone around you is infected if you act that if that's top of mind you're all going to do the right thing to avoid it and to avoid people who might have it or to avoid giving it to people at this point if you haven't been tested you can't be tested just assume you have it and carry on that way hopefully you don't get sick but you're right it goes everywhere look at our police chief deputy mayor James Craig spoke to him yesterday he said he's fighting it them some family members to about Dr Mona Hanna Attisha the same goes to St Mona but if she's got it I mean it does not discriminate and by the way you mentioned the gold standard on this said task force Dr Anthony Fauci am I a difficult question but I just found out that they had to up his security detail he's getting death threats please tell me your not well you know I I think that there's a lot of stress right now and and not that that justifies opted right and threats of violence but it never does but we recognize that when people are out of work when people are afraid when there's loss of life when there's a lack of access to you know all of the important things like testing and creepy about that contributes to a much more heightened awareness of of you know all of these potential you know ways that structure can be manifested yeah and so we are you know it cognizant that there are a lot of people on what anxiety and stress and so I we can't fix it direct threats but I can just say you know this is I'm sad to hear that for Dr Fauci but I I think it's it's unfortunate it's horrible he's doing everything he can do to protect us and I'm I'm grateful for his leadership under your executive order twenty twenty thirty five you finally did order the K. through twelve school buildings to close for the remainder of the school year your own children were asking you questions on your way to that meeting last night my Sophie's asking them very nervous and it's it's sad to see but I'd I'd try to reiterate all of these kids and maybe all these kids across the country are in the same boat so for those like Sophie who's worried about her admission in the college after senior year next year I'm trying to tell them all relax everybody's in the same boat they'll be special circumstances that all colleges will be well aware of yeah that's right I mean this is not a unique situation in Michigan this is happening around the globe every student is going to end up being in the same spot and every university is going to as well and that's all going to be taking no account so I'm glad you're talking a selfie that way that's precisely how I'm talking with the Syrian city my girls who are asking all the same questions which is really important that parents and adults with the kids around and in the house are being very very clear and open and age appropriate conversations with our kids because they're strong they feel what they know something different even if they're used to being on their phones in their bedrooms like a lot of teenagers are out there feeling it too and so it's really critical that we're we're respectable were sharing information so that we can allay some of their concerns I know I I I know you got to go I just want to thank you for something that no one knows you were a part of to the you know the big announcement yesterday Henry Ford starts drug study to to see if hydroxy chloroquine then maybe there's a pack and other things will actually help prevent this virus and you were a part behind the scenes of helping facilitate that when we help to doctor bill o'neill reach out.

"Governor Whitmer says she sent a request to president trump for a major disaster declaration over the corona virus pandemic if granted in full among other things this will help us provide meals to families who need them would help us provide rental assistance and temporary housing to families there are now sixty deaths in two thousand eight hundred and fifty six confirmed cases of covert nineteen in the state that's up from forty three deaths in two thousand two hundred ninety five cases on Wednesday Wimmer says that what is happened in Michigan in just the past fourteen days is something she's never seen before just over two weeks ago we had zero this crisis is ramping up exponentially Michigan is currently ranked fifth in the nation with confirmed cases of covert nineteen governors will have the final say about their states but following the president and vice president holding a teleconference with them on the pandemic the White House made public a letter to the state leaders in his letter the president looking to nudge the governors who have put in statewide economic lockdowns he writes in furtherance of this shared goal of my administration is working to publish new guidelines for state and local policy makers to use in making decisions about maintaining increasing or relaxing social distancing and other mitigation measures we will suggest guidelines categorizing counties as high risk medium risk or low risk the letter does not indicate when these new suggestions are going to be made but the president is sticking with his aspiration of having much of the nation turning economically by Easter Sunday Bob Costantini Washington how does the death rate from corona virus compared to the flu thousands die every year from complications of the flu many health experts say the covert nineteen death rate appears to be higher Choate Dr Joel Fishbein head of infectious disease at Beaumont hospital answer to a question from a WJR listeners give sixty million people in the United States get this infection and even if it only has a half percent or one percent mortality rate you do the numbers it's actually astonishing so it doesn't have to be very deadly it only has to do with the vast number of people infected and then even a little percent mortality it's pretty amazing and then add on to that to people who don't die but now need ventilator support or respiratory support even if it's two percent you do the numbers every aspect of life has been upended by the corona virus crisis including grieving for people.
