"As always there's a lot to talk about governor Ron DeSantis holding his news conference earlier today continuing to ramp up testing in the state the arms count all of our Orange County leaders mayor Deming's Orlando mayor buddy Dyer sheriff John Nina all in a news conference today updating us on some of the local numbers as well it's a pretty much a debate now to open or not to open what to open waiting to open it all of that we got a lot of open mikes you can pick up the phone to discuss that with us if you have any questions up pretty much about anything hopefully we can help you out if we can't help you out certainly another listener can help you out that's what we've been doing here now for five weeks turning the radio station over to you for your questions or comments or concerns your opinions and again there's a lot to talk about tonight one of the hot stories this probably get national attention parents in Hillsborough County stealing the free food from the school lunch program and selling it online for a lot of people talking about that Harvard says they're not going to return the millions of dollars that they got even though president trump last night in the news conference said Harvard is going to return the money they said the body they got was not part of the US small business program didn't come from the small business program we're still trying to get some clarification on that cause them where did it come from but they say all of the money that they got will be helped to use students that are financially affected by the corona virus pandemic there so again eight four four two two zero zero nine six five cabins we get rolling tonight I I need to give a shout out to my wife okay and my neighbor Maddy who both made me some awesome food truck okay all right well Sandra of course as always yeah your neighbors well who just stays providing you food what you got on the main so we've got some chicken cutlets with cannellini beans okay that's from my wife nice some deliciously lightly fried chicken cutlets cannellini beans and my neighbor gave me some barbecued pork with broccoli and rice so that is you're even earlier that's what I was eating earlier you had was smells great in your breast you thanks I got a salad so mad if Maddie's listening Maddie shout out to Matt in Charlie and Barry give you some extra food for my colleagues every few just what okay all right never mind I let the fluoride I guess I can get my wife to give you some extra food instead of asking my neighbor to give yeah I was sad about your neighbors I really met your wife in real life but I haven't made a neighbor's yet so all right again if there's anything we can do for you unemployment obviously still a big issue and as you know okay have we discussed this earlier we've we're we're seeing reports we've seen several reports that the unemployment in the state of Florida is going to be retroactive as that's one of the questions we've been getting all along you know they've been talking about it they've been kicking around people keep asking us but we haven't officially heard yeah we haven't gotten the official word I was hoping government the Santos was going to say in the news conference yes we've decided to make it retroactive the the person that's in charge of unemployment now Sadler I forget his first name is but he was supposed to be in the news conference and I thought that's when they would announce that he was not in the news conference but again it's looking more and more like I don't want to say definitely because it's it's still unofficial but a lot of people are reporting that the Florida unemployment is going to be retroactive so for all of you that filed two weeks ago three weeks ago four weeks ago you still haven't gotten anything hopefully when you get it it's gonna be a big check retroactive check we heard from a couple people last night can have that got the federal money they signed they've managed to sign up for unemployment because we're still hearing from people that just can't get signed up but some people that were able to get signed up finally got the six hundred dollars the federal unemployment but not the Florida state unemployment yet yeah so I'm looking at the claim tonight from the Florida department of employment kind of see how many claims have been processed at this point out clearly thirst a long way to go overall in the state of Florida just twenty eight and a half percent of total claims have been processed and all those claims a member or of all those claims in general as well just fifteen point nine percent of those claims have been paid so it's already been hard enough just to get process let alone actually get the money so far you know we've been talking about thousands and thousands and thousands of people have been signed up for unemployment here of these past couple weeks and that's a pretty daunting stats with only fifteen point nine percent of those claims have been paid when we are now well over a month into this pandemic yeah absolutely and we've been hearing that frustration from listeners and you know when you finally get through and get signed up I would imagine that has to be such a huge relief right like you know I finally did and I'm finally signed up but then nothing happens then you don't get the money yeah no I I mean it's it's definitely valid like you said a lot of people are waiting on that time is certainly of the essence and you know even when you've got it process you're not necessarily out of the woods yet we've had multiple people say that they've gotten their applications process but they just haven't got the money so all right so one way to go if you got signed up for unemployment and you got money if you're one of the few people that received money let us know about it if you've gotten signed up let us know how long it took you to get signed up if you are still trying let us know how long you have been trying to get signed up it's an extremely frustrating situation we talk about it every single night and we really really feel for you folks eight four four two two zero zero nine six five if you we really feel for you if you have not been able to get signed up for unemployment or if you got signed up a few weeks ago and haven't gotten any money yet eight four four two two zero zero nine six five looks like David in mount Dora is up first tonight Hey David what's going on Hey there service master talk to you again all this is the this is David the barbecue ban yes Sir yeah good to talk to you later we just received a letter in the mail because they thanks to my name is Jay and my wife inquisitive child or so they took yours and your wife's yes third lady in and I don't know how they can take awhile because that is not heard their right now your wife would have to file what they call in injured spouse your wife would have to fight what they call an injured spouse form to trying get because you guys probably file jointly so it all goes together yeah you're you're you're correct yeah and you owe child support I am unfortunately I know I know a little bit about this myself because I I was divorced a long time ago when I have children and it's the same thing with your income tax sometimes you're you know you build they'll take your whole income tax and put it towards child support or put it towards delinquent tax if you owe tax money or something like that and then the spouse the husband or the wife that that doesn't know the money has to fight what they call a an injured spouse form and I'm I have the information right here in front of me child support is just about the only thing that they'll take the stimulus money from you for if you owe child support they will take it out of the twelve hundred dollars right below that it says any tax debt stimulus payments cannot be seized to pay tax debt cannot be seized debate pay any private debt collection or even if you owe the bank money and we heard from a guy the other night who said his checking account was three hundred dollars in the negative or something and he got a stimulus check direct deposited and you got the whole twelve hundred dollars so our child support is just about the only reason they'll take the stimulus from you and I'm sure you can understand why they would do that if you owe child support but if they took you wife's money to then she's got to do the injured spouse thing well they don't imitate take it away from our lives there isn't is not heard their right that's what that's what I'm saying they they shouldn't be taking it from your wife but so she has to she has to file what they call an injured spouse form to try to get her twelve hundred dollars back after age eighteen taking me on their server yeah I no problem and we're still looking forward to coming out to as coming out to the acme rib shack when when when when time permits didn't get brisket yeah we'll get it all calves yeah it's really all right David thank you Brad in Winter Park Brad what's going on Hey guys so here's my situation so for the unemployment I don't you know I did mine in a sort of my friend and we both have direct deposit so when it happens it'll just go right into the checking account nearly got hers and she got the six hundred dollars number six hundred dollars though that comes from the federal government she got about her direct deposit to but here's my situation anything that comes from the federal government because when.

"Governor Ron DeSantis live in Miami a Jackson memorial and he outlined Ford is five point plan and those five points to protect the vulnerable Amatil to increase the taste and testing capabilities around the state he talked about buying additional attest kids twenty five hundred of them to be the point yesterday he indicated that a quest diagnostics and LabCorp are able to administer tests at their facilities as well third part of the plan to increase social distancing measures so bottom line he's canceled travel official travel for state employees for the next thirty days he's encouraging gatherings to not take place and we have MLS which has postponed its season at this point and Major League Baseball he mentioned the governor mentioned he had talked to the commissioner Major League Baseball they were scheduled MLB to have a a conference tomorrow not sure if that's going to change at this point course MLB this season doesn't start until later this month but spring training still going on right now in South Florida so we'll see what comes of that conversation with the governor Major League Baseball the fourth part plan to protect healthcare workers obviously was concerned not only about making sure that you had access to testing as needed but also health care workers themselves one that they don't become overwhelmed and the system that doesn't become overwhelmed but also that they are adequately protected against any patients they might come in contact with Kobe nineteen and the fifth part of the plan to monitor international and high risk travel and all the information latest information be made available and for the health dot gov so that's the latest from the state of Florida obviously there's a lot of breaking news it will continue to come about two o'clock today mayor Francis war as Miami will end up declaring a state of emergency for the city we will likely hear additional outcomes across the country throughout Florida I can tell you that even a smaller than a a an event for a sponsor I work within the palm beaches that was scheduled for one hundred people this week and that was just canceled so things are very fluid and if you have any events that were scheduled I it makes sense to book in advance to see if they're still going to take place because even the smaller ones at this point often have been called off and when we take a look at the lay of the land there couple things that I think are important and when it Dave this is the subject of my Q. NA today the difference between mortality and death rates is all the information that's out there and trying to deal with what's real it's important right now not to read into the situation what you want to read into it but the reality on the ground and it like it's not comfortable it's not something we want to deal with I've been trying to handle this as I do coverage for hurricanes you know like what we know a hurricane is coming we don't know exactly when it's going to hit we don't know exactly where it's going to hit but we are in the crosshairs so we have to be prepared there's a process that we go through and often the process feels the worst in preparation it's stressful it's emotional and then you wait and yet yet see how it's going to impact and yet you have prayed for the best right it's kind of where we are with this in so over the past few weeks I have been doing this daily update October nineteen often with information that might not be the most comfortable some hasn't been so bad but a lot of it like the death rate which has averaged six percent and still remains at six percent nah I don't enjoy that anymore than you do but that's what's real and so we go over the information takes us so that's what I would encourage you to do it again at this point have a story up that is about pandemics you need to take that information just pragmatism you know if we go back to the most recent pandemic two thousand nine the H. one N. one virus that pandemic killed just under twelve thousand five hundred people in the United States now what was reacted to differently than some of what we've seen so far and there's very specific reasons for that and again this is all addressed and the stories that I have put together for you will.
