Who Is Watching the Eyes of the CCP?
"You received an invitation or you asked for an invitation to speak to the Republican governors associated to the national governors association. NGA. And they said, huh? And you showed up and you told them that each of them had been classified by the Chinese government, that got their attention. When you tell the audience a little bit about that story, which they've got to read in full to appreciate, but the CCP has a file on every governor and they are classified. So I had seen hints of this when I was a CA director, but I became Secretary of State. I was able to see it more clearly. And I was able to get this document declassified. It was written nominally by a Chinese think tank. But what they've done at the direction of the Chinese Communist Party was to continue to evaluate all 50 governors of the United States of America. And they would rank them. Friend foe or were working on them. And by the time I got it to classify, I'd also noted that there was a meeting in Washington, D.C., where all the governors would be. And so I called governor Hogan and then governor of New York, Cuomo, and asked for 20 minutes. They gave me 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty sleepy day. But when I began to lay out for them the fact that the Chinese Communist Party was watching them, observing them, running influence operations against them and had measured them, had raided them, essentially said, do we have them in our pocket yet or not, boy, I had their attention. They all, they all turned immediately to their devices or to their chiefs of staff and says, hey, I got to have a copy of that. I got to know where I am. And I wanted them to just be a little taken back, but mostly I wanted to remind them that this isn't just an attack on our federal government. It is at every level of our government today that the Chinese Communist Party is conducting its assault against our freedoms.

"Reaction governor to the search at Mar-a-Lago. Well, it was, it was really kind of a totally unprecedented situation. And I read your piece about it, and I agreed with everything that you had to say. But I don't want to rush the judgment. It certainly, the federal government, better provide overwhelming evidence that this action was absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I think it can have the potential to undermine faith in democracy and the rule of law. And we're so divided as a country today, dangerously divided. And Americans are starting to lose faith in our government institutions. And so I called on the Biden administration to release at a minimum, the documents authorizing the FBI search. Maryland is putting millions of dollars more toward filling gaps in wireless infrastructure in schools and homes. And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and it kind of showed us just how critical a lifeline, high speed Internet access is. Governor Larry Hogan announcing more than a 127 million will be going towards getting 15,000 households access to broadband Internet, as well as helping local schools close the gap for kids who don't have access to devices needed to connect to the classroom. Our goal is to ensure universal broadband to every single person. Several schools and Montgomery and Frederick counties will be part of this grant program. A new innovation promises to make a huge change in how Montgomery counties ride on buses fuel up a micro grid using the sun will power up, starting in September. Washington Post reports the Silver Spring depot will be one of the first in the country to use the micro grid to power some of the transit systems electronic buses. The energy will come from solar panels rather than the traditional electrical grid. It is all part of Montgomery county's effort to have all of its county owned vehicles be zero emission by 2035. "Administration condemning the illegal protests outside the homes of Supreme Court Justices? Every day they don't do that is another day that puts the Supreme Court in danger. And you know what? There are Republican leaders, you want to know why people flock to Texas or Florida or even Virginia. "Wearing masks for decades. Why to prevent infection in in different areas. I think this is a test of our humanity. I believe that that's what this pandemic is. And remember a pandemic isn't an issue. It's a virus that's trying to kill as many of us as possible. And so I think it comes down to are you be willing to be self less? And where that mass loving your neighbor and protecting them? Or is it more? A question of selfish? I have the right to do whatever I want, even if it causes harm to others, you know, you can't walk into a crowded movie theater and yell fire. Your freedom of speech doesn't extend that far. So let's remember that liberty is is the right to live our lives not to cause someone else's death. That should be pretty easy for people of faith for people of values. And I hope that we can start living those that faith and and those values to protect one another. Once again, let me lift up and talk about the larger challenge of polarization and the abortion debate. Frankly, I think is only going to exasperate or divide here, both of you. Would I could argue and you may disagree with me. But I'm going to play political analyst analyst here. Both of you have benefited when the other party went too far right that I could argue. That's why you're both governor today. Certainly why you may have a second term Governor Hogan and why Governor Bashir, you're there. Is that the only way to cut through polarization Governor Hogan is when the other party goes too far, and then the voters create a check. Is that about it? Because it doesn't seem as if the middle ground gets represented unless one party goes too far. Well, that's an interesting It's an interesting idea. I think that may be possible. Certainly in our state, you know they had raised taxes 43 times in a row, even though we're the most Democratic state in America. Even the Democrats got frustrated with that. And so, but I think it right now in America. There are certainly people on both ends of the extremes on the left and the right who get all of the attention. The ones that are making the most noise and that's what we hear about when we're watching television. But about 70% of the people actually just are somewhere in the middle there, moderate or right of center left of center. They really want their elected officials to try to figure out a way to do something about this toxic politics and they want us to work together. To come up with real bipartisan commonsense solutions. Turns out that's the most popular thing in America. With most voters, Governor Bashir both you and Governor Hogan have have also share another thing in common. When you've had some abortion bills come from your Legislature. You chose not to be to them. But you chose not to sign them. And they just became law. One had to do with some Medicaid funding with Planned Parenthood. I believe on the Maryland side of things. You with the current law. That's there. Um How much do you expect abortion to divide your state going forward? And what is your? Do you have a plan on what to do in a post Roe world. Well, I think it it remains to be seen exactly what impact this Texas decision will have, especially with another case coming before the Supreme Court here pretty soon, But as the state's former top prosecutor, I have seen the worst of the worst situations. Young girls raped, impregnated sometimes by members of their own families. I hope whatever comes down the line provides those victims that have been harmed in ways most of us could never imagine. The options that they deserve. Governor Hogan. Do you believe the abortion issue when it if it's going to be state by state? You seem to basically say, you know, your electorate is perhaps pro choice. You may be pro life and you've sort of taken a hands off approach. Do you believe it should be the sort of public sentiment that should dictate where we go on abortion loss. Well, and you know, I happen.

Maryland Board of Education to Host Special Meeting on Statewide School Mask Mandate
"Vote today may change that. A special meeting is coming this afternoon to be held by the State Board of Education, which is considering an emergency regulation that would require face coverings in all schools. Some local districts already have mandates in place. Others like Carroll County, do not.
