"goudreau" Discussed on The Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast

"So often ray Ferraro, you know, you enjoy the moments, especially when celebrated players come back into a city, maybe they started their career and played for a long time. Want to Stanley Cup whatever. So Johnny goudreau back in Calgary to take on the flames. A game that you guys did on ESPN. And I don't know if I'm surprised by the showering of booze or not. I'm of the opinion, you buy a ticket. I don't like when guys throw their sweaters on the ice. I think that's disrespectful to any team any player any organization. But if you want to have some fun, entertain yourself and boo Johnny goudreau every time he touches the puck in Calgary. Fill your boots. I got no problem with that. And I think you correct me if I'm wrong 'cause you were there. He Alan pretty well, both pregame and postgame. He had an incredible night, I'm sure it was really weird and odd and he put a video to get the video that they put for the returning players. As soon as they put his face up on the board, the building started to boo, then they cheered really loudly through the video. And then Johnny stood up and waved, and he was, I mean, he was three feet from me. He had really emotion in his face. And then the video ended, they cheered him through all that. They cheered him when he waved and thanked the fans. And then it stopped and they returned immediately to booing him. In the same breath. So I love it. I thought their commitment to the booing was really what's really notable. I mean, man, that went to overtime and they were booing them still in overtime. So he had two beautiful assists terrific passes. He hit a goalpost. He missed the penalty shot. He hit Dan vladar in the head twice with a slapper. He honestly could have had four goals last night. And then Calgary one in overtime. So I think the people went home, feeling like that was a great night. And I hope good girl did too, because he was terrific. He was all over the game. It's for the people throwing their jerseys on the ice. I don't even mind that. And this is why. If you spend $300 on a Jersey and you're dumb enough or angry enough to throw it onto the ice, it's just like walking out in the street. And throwing 300 bucks into the middle of the street. If you want to do that, knock yourself up. I really don't care. Is it disrespectful to the team you're supposed to be a fan of? Sure, but again, that guy, just think that guy or girl, she's paid a couple hundred bucks to get into building to throw a $300 sweater. Yeah. On the ice. So if the 500 bucks doesn't matter to you, toss it. No. You'll realize it later. So 500. I think you should have, I think you should have decoys right, right? So don't throw the $300 one. Have like a T-shirt or something on underneath. It's like the hat trick cap, right? Like I didn't pay $55 for a team logo hat to throw on the ice in a moment of euphoria because one of my favorite players just got the hat trick. How about like a crappy one, stashed in a pocket or something? Well, and then lob that into the into the fray. Well, that take the planning of that, Drake. I mean, come on. So I get a hat trick in Atlanta and they brought, they collected all the hats and so they bring this big collection in a gigantic garbage bag. I don't know. There had to be a hundred hats in there or something. I don't know something like that. So I was looking through them. Some of them you wouldn't have put on tiny. They were just so greasy and pretty. Oh yeah, and those ones that you. Want to touch the brim on this one. I was wondering what they did with the hats. I just assumed that they went to charity, right? Like the clean ones and the ugly ones just went into the garbage, but you got the bag? Well, they gave it to me. I didn't take it with me. What am I going to take a hundred hats home? Hey kids, pick up a house. Not this one here. It's a little greasy, yeah. This one's okay. You should have taken it to like a doctor's office and see if there's any infestations and things. Oh, I loved it. What a way to start episode 35. All right, headlines. Again, presented this season by our good friends at Boston pizza. And, oh, there's a number of ways we could attack the goings on in Vancouver. I don't know, correct me if I'm wrong. For reasons that I don't entirely understand. And I feel like I was pretty invested in the telling of the foibles of the Vancouver Canucks over the last several months here. But I don't entirely understand why the Canucks waited until Sunday morning to fire Bruce boudreaux, but the hockey world clearly was in tune focused very passionate, certainly the fan base in Vancouver. Maybe even fixated rate on this for weeks. So in season changes seldom go well, right? Now, the club may improve. I mean, you may get a bump as the Vancouver Canucks got. They called it the boudreau bump when he replaced Travis Greene. Bruce popularity with the fans in the media complicated this situation. Maybe in toll with the fact that, look, Canucks management ownership had their reasons, whatever they are, and Rutherford and Patrick golvin tried to articulate some probably not all. But they had their reasons for waiting as long as they did, and then you throw in the popularity of boudreau, homeless globally, right? Because he's that guy, he's viewed as a nice guy. And this turned into a bit of a cesspool in all fairness. And a troubling one across the board. So I don't know, you feel, but you have a unique perspective on this. And I'm sure you're as happy as anyone associated with the organization or even as a fan, okay? It's over. Now let's do whatever we can to move forward. Well, I mean, I'm sure most people listening or almost all people listening know that my wife works in a management group. So my perspective is probably a little more closely tied. And respectful of her position. I will say this though, there's a couple of things that I don't think people understand. Number one is most of us, well, I can't think of anybody that doesn't think that when they knew that it was going in this direction, it should have been moved quicker. Like it just should have been moved quicker. If they had decided that they were going to go down this road and the story got out in the volume that it did. Even if you didn't want to, you probably had to. But we don't know the reasons. And won't know the reasons why that occurred. So that's the first part. The second part is, it was also reported that actually Jim Rutherford and Patrick Alvin said they had been talking to people over the last month or so. They first reached out. I think that timeline was a month ago or so to Rick talking. If people don't think this happens, they're completely naive. When you're thinking of making a coaching change, you don't just sit there, make the changes this morning and go, now we're going to start to look. You might end up at that point that yeah, we're going to make a change. There's nobody out there that we're really interested in at this point, so we will put an interim coach

"Let's look at that. Yeah, I'm with you. All right, we don't talk about the Columbus blue jackets very often. We just don't. And there's reason to and normally you would think it would be a positive reason because, you know, they signed Johnny goudreau, they've got Patrick Klein, who's back on the ice. He's back healthy again. And he's always fun to watch when he's scoring goals and the way he plays. But man was he pissed off after that buffalo loss. And understandably so they didn't show up. They didn't play at all in that game. It really looks to me, smells to me like Columbus is looking at the draft. They're looking at art in 2023 and it kind of reminds me and this is going back 2003 ray. And Jamie Rutherford at the time was with the Carolina hurricanes. And I know this because Paul Maurice told me the story. Rutherford went to Paul, who's coaching the hurricanes around Christmas and said, hey, we had an okay start. We're back to where I think we're going to be, which isn't very good just to be a 100% transparent. You're not getting any help. I'm not helping you. Like sorry, you know, this is what you're going to deal with because they looked at the Eric stall. So they draft Eric stall second overall in 2003. They were looking that far ahead at the June. You know what I'm laughing at the moment. I'm laughing at that for two reasons. One, of course, the blunt list, the bluntness of Jim Rutherford at that point. And then Paul Maurice, that's 20 years ago. I know he started when he was 28, but he was still a pretty good guy.

Vesey, Goodrow lead Rangers to 3-1 win over Senators

"Ryan lindgren set up each rangers goal in a three one downing of the senators. Jimmy vesey opened the scoring midway through the first period. Barclay goudreau doubled the blue shirts lead midway through the second and Chris kreider provided the insurance tally with 7 O one remaining. Yaroslav halak stopped 34 shots in helping the rangers into three game skid. Until Shane Pinto, tally late in the second period. New York improved to 11 9 and four, the Sens ended a two game winning streak and fell to 8 13 and one. I'm Dave ferry.

"But I find it interesting that there are inching more and more in towards the middle of the ice. In between the two dots. Which is the most premium real estate in the offensive zone. I think if you can consistently find a way to get shots in there, that's typically the hardest part to get into the defense is generally pretty good at sniffing that out and having someone there at least with a stick to prevent you from getting shots off. And the reason why I bring that up is because one of the guys they brought in this off season is all over Burke's friend who has profiled as one of the best players in the league at getting their time and time again throughout his years in Columbus. And he's doing so yet again here in Seattle. I don't know if we're ever going to be able to get to the Columbus blue jackets deep dive because we have the good vibes requirement with good visor requirement. But just thinking back to their off season and we saw that we saw that video of how the how the jackets basically got into Johnny gaudreau sweepstakes because they signed his friend Eric Branson. Of course. However, in doing so, it forced them to get rid of all of your strands for basically nothing. Yes. Would you trade Björk strand for good Branson and goudreau straight up? And I frankly don't know if I would. I think he's been that effective not only at 5 one 5, but also on special teams for this team. He's one of the he's one of the really good middle guys on the power play. For one, we saw the Columbus power play with so much more efficient when the offense ran through him when Patrick linen was hurt last year. And now we're seeing at 5 on 5 that this is the top, this is the best line that Seattle has. This is a dominant puck possession line with Alex Weinberg and entrepreneurs.

"Of what the bruins would like to be. Good at drafting. Good at drafting. You look Braden point. Ross Colton, Anthony cirelli, Andre pilat. None of those guys are, you know, first round picks. And there's more. There's more on that roster. You can look at the third and fourth lines. You look all over the roster. And again, like vasilevsky was a first round pick, but still, I mean, you look at the roster and you go, that's a team that drafted well. Yeah, no, it's that. And even if we want to talk about Colorado, of course, you can look at the avalanche and be like, well yeah, you just got to draft a generational center and a generational defenseman. You get to go. It helps quite a bit. You want to become a car. Like, oh yeah, I could see why a lot of teams like that guy. But I think you look at, as you said, Tampa and the way they've drafted and the way that they can, again, relinquish those first round picks to put themselves over the top. I mean, how many times have we seen it, whether it's Blake Coleman, whether it's Barclay goudreau, Nick Paul, Brendan Hegel, all these guys that you can sacrifice that first run talent because you've got the scouting department in the organization in place that you can identify talent in the second, third, fourth round. Not to say that every time you're going to draft a brayden point or an akita kourov, but even you look at gallic Ross Colton who I think was a fourth round pick. That's a guy that's Vermont. Yes, that's a guy that scored. I think it was what the game winning goal, a series clinching goal, I think, against Montreal. I want to say, that was a bruins player. It was like didn't hind and people would be celebrating didn't hide in the streets. It never have to buy a drink. Over at the hop. But again, it's one of those things where they just identify talent all across the board. And when you've got a strong scouting department in an established organization, you can give up those first round picks to get you that town that puts you in a position to get you over the top over a playoff series. I mean, even look at Colorado, the fact that, you know, you look at Joe sagging what he's done there, whether it's trading for a gala devonte, who was in kind of a cap issue there with the islanders taking advantage of that..

"Play in their lives. And I think as well, you pair anxiety with words that and I think I said this right at the top of the show and we're coming at it from a new angle. I've never really thought about anxiety being something, almost like a commodity, but the creative. That's how I took it, as soon as you consider themselves creative. Things like hope and care. And how it can drive. But I guess there were two prongs when I was reading the book, I thought, on the one hand, I can definitely think of times when my anxious feelings on that spectrum have galvanized me have moved me forward. And I can also think about times when they have worked against me. And the best example I can think of is in my early 20s, I got my dream job. But I was very much told at the time, this is a big risk for us. You don't really have the experience, et cetera, et cetera. And so for the ten years that I was in that job, I brought anxiety into every aspect of it because I wanted people who were witnessing me in that job, to perceive how much I cared. And the best way I could show that I cared in addition to doing my job to the best of my abilities was to be anxious about it at all times. And now I look back ten years later and think, yeah, you're kind of screwed yourself there. Because you didn't enjoy the dream job. Fascinating. And did you feel also that showing that anxiety was a signal, a signal to others around you as well, not just to yourself, but that you really cared? Yeah, I wanted them. I thought, well, if I'm presenting as highly anxious. And if I'm available at 3 a.m., if I'm emailing in the middle of the night, they're going to know that I live and breathe this job and I deserve this opportunity. Oh boy, this is fascinating. So I have so many thoughts about that. I mean, one is that anxiety can be debilitating. I mean, it stinks. There's nothing. There's no part of me in this book that wants to tell someone to like anxiety. Certainly not to love it, not even to like it. It's not meant to be lying. It's unpleasant, but and I quote all these Darwin. I quote the Danish philosopher Kierkegaard. Oh, you know, he's sort of the patron saint of anxiety. I opened up the book with that quote, which is whosoever learns to be anxious in the right way. Has learned the ultimate. So what that opens this completely different dialect. So I'm just sort of picking up Kierkegaard's ball. But yes, in a way I am because it even allows for the possibility that there's a right way to be anxious. So there's this first idea that. Thinking of it this way, but you know what I'm thinking about as you were speaking as well. Is that as women as well, if I may talk a little bit about that experience, we often feel, and I think, you know, we've all been raised many of us, especially if we're kind of achieving women if we're women who are, you know, doing it all. We think we're having it all. And that sort of myth of corporate feminism that, you know, of a wonderful friend of mine, she must know Johnny has written a beautiful book called pay up that is about the future of women in work. Yes, please write that down. She's an amazing woman. And she talks about this sort of we bought into this myth of corporate feminism that we can have it all, but it's just code for doing it all and putting this pressure on ourselves. So when I heard you speaking, I was also thinking about the anxiety of perfectionism. Of saying, you know what, unless we just bring flawlessness and unhealthy anxiety can drive that perfectionism much of the time. And perfectionism is toxic because it's this unachievable flawlessness. It leads to not only more anxiety and stress and a bad way and depression in this burdensome way. But it actually also causes us to perform worse. We add people who are constantly chasing perfectionism, never know when it's good enough. Never know when it's excellent. And there's this wonderful and there's this wonderful Canadian psychologist named Patrick goudreau who coined this term excellences as sort of the light side of the dark side of perfectionism. And by the way, today is May 4th that we're speaking, so may the fourth be with you for any Star Wars nerds out there in Jan's. I was very disappointed when my book was not actually published on May the fourth, so I couldn't say that. But sorry, so back to excellence. We also know that healthy, healthy anxiety, drives this excellence as and where you know that you can be that you're excellent. And that sometimes good enough is good enough. And making mistakes on the journey to excellence is part of the process. And so we can celebrate. So you were in this dream job of yours and rather than saying, I have to be anxious and perfect and show everyone that to allow ourselves and for myself having those experiences across my life to step back and say, you know what? I feel that anxiety, but I know that I can channel that to being good enough sometimes. Maybe failing sometimes, but all on the road to.

"Playoff goals in the history of the Tampa Bay lightning, one, two cups there. He made his return at Tampa Friday night. I got an awesome video tribute, a nice day in the know from the crowd. Good read about him to I sent over to you guys Koopa call them quote, one of the game changes end quote for Tampa Bay franchise history and let's go to ufa a little tide joke. Before you go, he was one of those guys. I believe was open to the expansion draft as well and never got selected by Vegas. And just kind of a guy who got pigeon toss a little bit, kind of like the bad knob special. But still came back and played hard and was a pivotal piece in the Stanley cups in the back to back for the lightning. Yeah, and a lot of people have mentioned how they lost their third line of Coleman Gordon goudreau and it's like, not many people are talking about that they lost Johnson and he was playing up and down the lineup. Certainly at the end of his lightning career lower, but the fact that they had him playing on the fourth line kind of showed how good that team was. They're really going to miss him. I think they're probably still missing. And what happened is he signed that deal and then some players came in and so it was almost like a money thing where they couldn't afford them. I'm sure the lovely the lightning would still love to have them if he was making less money. But he came on the scene and I remember that run they had, they beat the bruins, was it the second round RA? And he was unstoppable. I think teddy Purcell was on that team. He's just like this water bug who is so hard to play against. An American kid, but he played in the WHO and if I have that correct, so I didn't know much about him and then he came to Tampa and kind of one of those guys that was there for the switch and the turnaround and that run that they made to the cup finals when they lost the Blackhawks. He was one of their best players. I mean, he was their guy and so he was injured. He ended up getting injured and that was a big reason as to why they the Chicago probably went on to win. And I just remember like seeing right away like holy fuck this guy, he's kind of got a nonstop motor and not many people knew that much about him. But after being one of the players who had all the success in the AHL with coop, winning a Calder cup, he came up with that entire crew. They learned how to win young, and that kid was an enormous player because once they got kucherov and stamkos, stamkos was their granted, but like they had some real game breakers that started coming in and making differences. This lineup, his lineup spot kind of lowered down a little bit, but only to have him play on a third, fourth line rolling to have that much skill will also have in like the motor of four checking and kind of being in your face all the time. It's what made the lightning cup champs two years in a row as guys like that. So you've seen all these return visits and guys get their rings and get to see their teammates, but Johnson made an enormous impact even before the two cups in the years prior. And if they did win that cup in 15, he was probably the likely con smite winner. He led the league in scoring in goals that year. Did he break his leg in that? Or was it his arm? I can't remember. Yesterday let alone 2015, Paul. Another pretty cool highlight of Tampa Bay Zach bogosian and his son hunt that had a nice little scrap on the ice. Did you see that wet is three year old son hot that he brought him up? No, I didn't. I didn't glue in the feet. Pound my son. Get him again, get him against Hezbollah. Hezbollah, what a video check that out if you haven't Caleb and has bula in Dubai. Oh yeah, unreal interview. So yeah, just a cute little video that the people throughout. I'm sorry that Zach throughout that nice little nice little thing. The same people going at Tyson Nash are now going up bogosian. He's going to teach us good violence. Shut up. We had a real flukey thing happened. I was talking to biz last night with. I wonder what the odds are of this. Both Sebastian aho squid within 34 seconds of each other the other night. Like it hasn't been what? Million to one odds that this happens? No, I read something that the ajo only has three goals on the islanders in the same night. The other one scored like two out of the three nights or something crazy like that. So whatever you just said made no sense. So this ajo on the islanders has three goals and on two of the days, the real good aho scored the same day. So I was surprised. The odds aren't that great from Finland. I thought I thought Sebastian aho's a name. You got a Sweden, you got a fin, I was surprised to hear different nations there. But it was still wild to see that happen. What did you say? 30 seconds within 34 seconds real, like real time. And it was just a third goal for the defensive and the 176 for the forward I hold in Carolina. So yeah, that's just a crazy fluke thing. Raccoon is what perhaps the check of the year, one of the best tires of the absolutely sends Kirby Doc ASTRO boutique with a cast brightest like hip check. I think if you zoom in on the audio biz, you can hit Kirby's act going fun. Good one, all right. I actually got your joke for once. As he hits the ice, but we don't see too many hits like that anymore. Old scratch goes old school as he is old school. He's a great number 5 or 6 down there in Florida, the shot blocker, the physical presence. He looks like it looks like he's out of like a Lord of the Rings or something with that beard too. He already does big old bushy bed. He just played in the 600th game the other night as well. So congrats to Ratko goudas on the accomplishment. Evander kaney set a record since we last met Paul. Racked up four penalties and just 7 41 of game time to set a new expansion era record. You got a roughing and interference in two tripping. You ever see a guy get rung up this many times in one night..

And how he can put him wherever he needs him to be and Trevor will play whatever game is needed because all he cares about is the win. That's all he cares about. Go ahead, yeah. No, sorry to interrupt. I'm like, that's the key when you find a veteran. So he has to be able to take what he used to be and throw that away. Because you're not that anymore. And Daryl might be looking for 7 minutes from him. But he needs energy. He needs him to kill penalties. He needs them to crash around a little bit. Yeah. And if Kelly yarn croak is unfamiliar with what the Calgary flames want from him, about 11 seconds after he walks in the coach's office, he's going to know. That's the way, honestly, because Daryl's old school, that's what Al arbour did. Like if you didn't know what Al wanted from you, you weren't paying attention. And it's the same thing with Daryl. I look at Johnny goudreau and I'm like, I don't know what he was doing the last couple of years. He kind of lost his way a little bit. But I look at him now and I'm like, I expect him to score every game or to get to assist every game. He's skating. He's engaged. He's like, Daryl's got to him and help him understand how he could be the best Johnny goudreau that he can be. It's been really impressive. I agree and that's why, look, all players earn the right to unrestricted free agency. You want to chase the big contract, knock your socks off, fill your boots. I understand it. But Johnny hockey is an example for me of where man, you better reassess at the end of this year. And look at how productive you've been with lindholm and chuck, right? And realize that, okay, yeah, Philadelphia might offer money. New Jersey might offer you more money. But are you going to have a better playing fit and experience than the one that you're leaving, right? He's going to have a part of that becomes two drinks is talking to lend home and talking to kach and saying, what's your plan in the next couple of years? Yeah. Yeah. It's got a phenomenal performance. And it's cost effective. I mean, one of the use cases they have is that the technology will sit inside a call and when you're doing automated outbound dial in and what it does is it listens for answer phones and it recognizes an answer for and it will just skip to the next the next call. There's a whole bunch of stuff that it does. There's so much data in the conversations that you have. As we're going to find out today, as well. So that's the UX world forward slash subscribe and a conversation that is about to happen will be right up your if you are interested in the whole NLP space. We are trying to run a gujar who is the CEO of behavioral signals all about emotional AI, which is a topic that you can probably tell by my voice. I'm pretty excited. So welcome, Rana. Hi, Ken. Thanks for having me. Thanks for being here. I appreciate it. I really do. So Rana, you are obviously the chief exec of behavior signals, but you do all sorts of battles of things. You will invest there, you are right. You are a mentor. You do a whole bunch of things aside from behavioral signals, but so maybe as we can start with an introduction to yourself and then we can follow on that with an introduction to behavioral signals and what you do. So first of all, tell us about yourself what's your what your career being like and how did you get to create in behavioral signals? Yeah, for sure. I have to say, I mean, I've had the fortune experience to be a part of several iconic product journeys. During the early years of my career, I worked at a Logitech chronos, among others, where I was evolved in the development of some best in class products, which enjoyed tremendous commercial successes. One of the most exciting ones was the precursor of chrome steak back in the day was called Google TV. And in 2012, I was recruited to be part of a court turnaround team for an iconic company called cricketer Inc and I cricket led the initiative to build a first of its kind innovative products for the DIY community and affected the turnaround of cricketer from negative 100 million position, which was when we took it on to profitability plus 12 mil. So it's about a 112 million inhibitor in a little bit over two years. And so long story short, let me quickly build a successful IPO in 2021 that 4.4 billion valuation. So great success story. Well, I also found it a fast company called ties back in 2014 where we built some early machine learning models to predict the commodity prices in the future. And we set out to improve our kayak business processes for a very well established industry, which was especially chemicals market, we went after we built a specialized vertical sales for that. And it was an opportunity to create immediate value and a sector screaming for innovation. And we enjoyed rapid growth. We got quite by alchemy in 2016. And then I came on board as a CEO at vehicle signals in December 2019. And it's been an exciting, exciting journey since then. Wow, interesting. You said you enjoyed rapid growth. It doesn't always, I imagine there was some pressure involved in that as well though. It was all entirely enjoyable. I imagine that when you grow so fast, it's quite difficult to keep open things how was that experience? Yeah, I mean, the journey at the end of the day, you reminisce with a lot of love and nostalgia and you're excited for those memories when you're in the process, certainly there's a lot of ups and downs. You've got to go through the trust. And Ben Horowitz famous quote is very true. CEO of startup, you sleep like a baby. That is like you cry yourself to sleep every night. And so there's a lot of excitement, I'd say. It's not always good excitement. You're building something. Which is not predictable. And there's a lot of variables that you don't control and there's exciting successes and completely devastating failures. But..

"Well, biz, the battle of Alberta is the battle of the Pacific right now. The flames and oilers they keep taking the turns leapfrogging each other for the first place. Who's in first right now, all right? The flames are currently on top, but Edmonton does have two games in hand. But Calgary, they just had a really nice road trip full one and two road trip. My pony man 15 fucking goals in 9th 13 road goals excuse me. He looks like a Cy Young win of 15 and two. He's got 15 goals and two assists. When you look up a stats, but what's this kid doing different business year that he wasn't before? Well, I remember talking to Ryan Leslie. He does all the television there. And I remember through the holdout, I was like, because he was holding out in camp. I think it was a year before last. And I was like, is this kidney good? He goes, yeah, he's got some pep two step he scored in junior and he's obviously confident his abilities at this level, but the start he's had to this season. And as I mentioned, 13 road goals, which is unbelievable playing big D hockey. I was looking off overall of his goals. You just really good around the net and things are going his way right now. I mean, you saw the one he had against Boston. I mean, there was a couple of cracks at it. Instead of taking the loop by the net, what's he do? He stops by the blue paint and then he's rewarded. So, I mean, he is a smaller undersized guy, but definitely not not shy to go to the hard areas. But overall, I ended up reading that Pierre LeBron article, and it just goes through what Daryl Sutter has done to the team. And they go back to last season and I think maybe some people or fans expected that he could turn things around a lot quicker. But he really emphasized and stressed that this training camp, they were able to look a lot of the video, say, these are the issues we have. This is how we're going to try to correct them. I hope that you guys believe in my philosophy and it seems and I've talked to lucha. He's messaged me and I'm saying, what's going on? He goes, big D hockey, baby. Everybody's bought in and they're loving it. And they've just been doing a really good job of limiting teams from scoring opportunities. If they do get them get one, it's one crack. They're taking advantage offensively when they are getting their opportunities, and they're getting to the lead. Most games are scoring that first goal and then they're just like it's just demoralizes teams because they're playing catch up. And they're all bought in. And it's really pretty to see. And you guys mentioned goaltending. Yes, when the levee breaks, those guys are there to make the big stops right now, and that's what they need. But in some of these wins on the road, would they beat buffalo 5 nothing handed them and Granado had some is it Donato or Granada Granado? He had some really nice comments in that pure LeBron article. They asked Bruce Cassie about it. Everything I basically summarized was all these coaches just saying, this is what we're not getting anything. They're capitalizing on everything. They got no, they got no dead weight, and they're just a team that's really really taken the identity on of their coach. And one thing that Sutter talked about in the article was the fact that in the hiring process was this was about a year in the making. So he was able to watch all their games and become a fan and just really see what's happening with their structure and why they're losing games. So I know he got the job midway through last season, but he's really denying this team for the last year and a half. So now it's just finally starting to take mold. And the adjustments that he's been doing on throw his time away on video have really helped out and made a difference on the team. Yeah, markstrom is just add another level. We talked about flaw, but to have a goalie two goalies playing this well, that's one thing. And goudreau is my big thing, you know, to see the bounce back he's had to know it's a free agent year when a lot of people go into the season, including us, didn't see this team doing anything. Didn't see him getting on the playoffs. We talked about where a good girl would be traded at the deadline being a UFA. Now, who knows what ends up happening, but this team looks great. One guy I kind of feel bad for, I think of a little bit his former captain that's Mark Giordano and he's in Seattle to struggle. And, you know, you look back on the team that you were the leader of and you were there for so long and see him doing that well. No doubt that's tough to watch. I don't care who you are. And when I look at Calgary, be willing to get rid of him. And I questioning it and us wondering what's going on, even though he was, you know, 37 38 years old, they must have known about all of her killington and what type of player they have in this Swedish defender who's looked so good. He's got 12 points in 18 games. He flies around the ice. He actually looks similar to Giordano when he's a little bit younger in terms of getting up and down the ice playing offense. I don't think he's a defender.

"Will remember you. We sing that like every other episode. Hey, I want to talk about D man. You talked about goodrow. Rasmus Anderson, he got a pretty big deal a few years back. Maybe this was it last year? All right. I mean, I look up raster Sanderson's contract. But I think he just makes just under 5, I believe it's on a 6 year deal. Okay, yeah, and I think it was maybe signed two years ago, but a hard to play against big bear of a defenseman who can log over 20 minutes. He can pique, and now right now he's 6 points through 8 games. So he's throwing some offense in the mix. And the fact that monaghan what's up G? So his contract is a 6 year deal with an AAV of 4.5. Great. When was it signed? When was it signed granelli? The contract was signed January 8th, 2020. Oh, so it's last year. So I think some people at the time were like, what's this deal? Whereas a lot of flames fans are like, yeah, we know about this guy. We know what's up with that. There's more around the league. Yeah, it's like more around the league. People don't know, you don't quite shut down type defense, but he's played great. And then on the forward side, monaghan hasn't really gotten going yet. I think chuck's got a little more offense to give, but he's doing his thing being a rat. And in the end, goudreau plays like this on a contract year. Fuck, we talked to the preseason predictions where we all thought they weren't going to do nothing this year that he could get traded at the deadline. Now who knows what goes on if the flames keep rolling like this, but have we had a battle of Alberta yet? I don't think we have one. Yes, one Edmonton one. Oh, actually I did know. I just wanted to hear you say that bitch. Shut the fuck up plenty of. I think that's their only loss. And that's when you're born. I understand to open a night. Had butted Yamamoto. So listen, you can have your hot start to the season, buddy. I watched the last game that they played against Philadelphia..

"I'm not big on the buzzwords like leadership and things like that leadership does met but as in the case of keith. you don't need to overpay for leadership So i kind of just broke it down. Forwards defencemen and goalies like if we want include goalies included too because the smallest ones in the league that are actually good or like sixty two so trying to make all star team And so my criteria was for forwards to be five ten or below and actually be good players and then defenseman had to be Below six foot that was my only requirement. There tried to go as low as i could as long as they were good players. But i mean the the usual. Everyone knows. they're small. If i was to make a team just a small players got to break it at five seven. Everyone knows my favorite short guy. I get into it again. Man he's gonna get into it aka. The one that got away from the stars i would love to have him alongside robertson right now but So he he's my starting left. Winger i got marsh ended center. He's only five nine. Actually i didn't know that And then patty. Cain is actually only five ten really. Don't love patti king I don't love patty canes game much. He has a lot of flaws in my opinion actually in terms of two game his putt possession. Metrics have suffered a little bit but he still likes the lamp better than almost anyone leaks. So i like scoring. Job can tell you that i care about scoring more than defense as well. So patrick kane made the team second line. I got the guy who is probably going to be leaving the league next year. And i wasn't going to put him over to bring it for that Cap resolve starting lying to brayden. Point and clayton keller on the right wing and then i kind of had to iran out of wingers so i kinda awesome centers over on the left wing. So i got a check On the third line or gordon. I'm sorry i can't pronounce that guy's name gordie gordon gordon. Think i'll go to hell. Let's go from tampa. That guy is a absolute monster both in terms of objective stats and Analytics connor garland. Actually conner garland is a stud. And i didn't realize how good he wasn't until i did this. Little research project five full time and then guys who at this point. I was just kinda looking for guys to allow who are still good. But these guys. I wouldn't say are true all-stars but marcelo Fiala and goudreau Round out the forwards difficult on group. I did not yet. Just because i only had one playoff experience. And that's it shame or shame. I hasn't done anything yet josh. He's he's getting there but he just hasn't done anything to play a full season. I want to win here josh. So apparently produce a to. I'm curious to see what you got..

"May be as a backup somewhere else than that. Yeah that's what i'm thinking might happen. If he really wants to go for one heck maybe goes too. Maybe he goes to. The lightning seems to work out or just follow patent maroon. I mean that would work as well right. There was a bunch of jokes on twitter. That i was seeing that. Everyone's joking that they were gonna trade mitch minor for maroon because they have pat maroon. It's guaranteed you know. Go for eight million on the on the free agency market because of all the cups has man. That guy makes nine hundred thousand. You know as much as we drown on him and how how stars fans hate him just because of who he is. I mean he does a lot for that team. He plays on their fourth line and he was fantastic for them. He's a role guy he just ends up making big. Plays somehow right and you know. Let's let's talk about another storyline coming out of this Coming out of these playoffs is The the cap situation tampa bay I think they keep the core around a lot of these guys. you know. The big ones stamkos Headman kucherov vasilevskiy but some of these death players in some of these role players that they had I don't see them returning no way. I mean that's where their strength is really like if you look in the in the final game the big guys weren't even there like other other invest leschi. They weren't even showing up. They weren't even really getting great chances in my opinion but their debt is were. They win their hockey games. Like colt. coleman is the number one thing that looking at right now like he probably know chances in tampa bay next year. But that's where their strength is that's why they're able to win and so many different ways is because they had players who can do all the different things well and it's the same thing with All of those other players to you know blake coleman barklay goudreau and then you know speaking of other players that just happened to step up for the tampa bay lightning at the right time. How about the the golden goal for the for for tampa bay. ross colton. He comes out of nowhere this season and he seems to be relied upon and he scored the only goal in the in games five tampa bay lightning. And that's all they needed they just needed one and a it just goes to show you just how deep. This team is a and the deep. Let me ask you this question because there's a lot of Speculation between this to answer that people are talking about but a lot of people are saying that the success of the tampa bay lightning is because of steve yzerman who is no longer with the tampa bay lightning and he's actually now building the team in detroit a Other people are saying no. It's it had nothing to do with steve yzerman. It was all julian breeze bras. Do you think it's a mix of both or do you think it was all steve is..

"And it just proved to me that i was making such effort to change to adjust my energy to him and not realizing that i was not getting anything in return there was no reciprocity there and that turned into also realizing how did this all happen in the first place. Why did i adjust myself to him so much. And that's something within the south asian community. I think women here a lot like you have to adjust you have to adjust to the point where that word just makes me cringe and realized that actually a lot of people talk about quote unquote daddy issues. I don't really like that term a lot. I think it's kind of problematic but for me. There were things with my father that are there but my mother wound with my mom is very very deep. I realized how much i grew up having to be subservient to her having to adjust myself having mask myself constantly because of her wounds in the way. She projected her frustrations and anger upon my brother. And i especially upon me being a mediator being that person that she parental fide when i say parental vacation. I'm talking about how she put me so much. An apparent role even as a child. And so therefore i felt this need to save people including my now ex husband. I felt like it was my role in my job but my started my healing journey realizing i needed to really look at all of this in look deep inside about what my relationship with myself was. How was i- parenting myself. I never even thought about that. I just thought about other people and how to make them happy in what they needed. Which is exactly what my mom did to this day. I think she's healing. But you know. I think it's still very hard for her to focus on herself and realize what her own needs are and i realized that i can break the cycles by doing it with myself. I can help her as much as i can. But i also realize to constantly pushed my mom or anybody to do. Certain things is me forcing my will upon them. And that's not okay. And that's another reason. I feel like i'm a hype. Girl all about encouraging. But i'm not trying to force someone if they're not ready they're not ready and there was a time where i was. I think we all have our time when you know. Sometimes we just start to get it if my mascot did you have an arranged marriage. Was that of the character of your relationship here. Sure no we did not.
