"I. Hunt Groucho talk and and I'm looking for a good pair of boots and he'll goffin me only email and takeover and just you know in pump them up and honestly I you know I had to buy my first boots is not like. I'm not just saying this gets those I spend money but I also believe in the booths because I do and you know as upland hunters the only thing that we really have to depend on one hundred percent our not get out and you have to be over world out by Waukesha no definitely not. And that's those are some of the questions that I get and I'm sure sure you get to as I was. I was originally on the fence about you. Know why would I wanNA wear rubber boots all the time you know. Maybe when it's really wet but very quickly I came to the same conclusion. Oh you did. It's just there's enough water in the woods on a given on any given day and they're so comfortable and one thing I always tell people as they ask do your feet get get hot and I wear the neoprene line ones because they they make the boots a little bit stiffer and I like that. Little bit stiffer. Sure the upper. But they'll ask you if you get hot and you know maybe maybe on a really warm early-season day my feet might get hot. But I mean really. If it's if it's hot your feet are going to sweat no matter what kind of boots urine and without a doubt a sweaty foot is never as bad as a wet foot so no matter how sweaty your feet are when they're in that inside that gummy booth there. They're still going going to be more dry than a boot. That's letting water in and and Soak in water up. That's one other thing. One thing I love about the roots is you're walking through water and seven and puddles. They shed all the water. It all falls right off your your boots way. The same at the end of the day that they did at the start of the day where another leather canvas boot. That's going to soak up some water throughout the day. Sure sure.

"I'll be honest last year my best day in North Carolina seven burn up seven birds cats and we actually presented shots and yet opportunity to limit so that was fine and can't honestly the the usual day is probably going to be five flushes and ten miles up and down while. Yeah Yeah. Now what cocker different. We get goodwill talkline sharing my best. My Best Day last year was thirty. Four separate birds and we had two puppies so we went and put them on some re flushes things like that. The rooted shoot just a couple but thirty four separate birds and that was a good day. Woodcock obviously forty five day season. Three bird limit. What's the limit on rough grouse down there three a day day and it's more it's more of a goal or a challenge than limit? Sheriff kind of the same way up here you know Yeah Right I. It's hard to Tara. Shoot five girls in a day. That's for sure I should say it's not easy. Some people make it look easy. Sometimes but Stephanie. Not An easy thing to do. That's for sure you gotta be. You GotTa know what you're doing you gotta be in the right stuff and one thing to find enough grouse to bag that many but then you got to actually do it got to be able to. I think I think in the two falls up at Pine Ridge in that so that's ninety days of hunting. I think that that one guy last year shot limit. Okay and not for the fact that we don't put up a ton of urge every day he was a young guy get great reflexes and they came back and we made. It'd be eel out of the only time that I remember that would that would be. That would be a day to remember. That's for sure so.

"And we laugh about it. We calling the machine because he just put him on the ground and start him and he just goes but he This tale it's pretty beat up because the way he runs with in Happen Everything Yup but by the time by the time it starts to grow back on the late under look pretty much vote by now so that also brings up an interesting point. I was going to call you about a week or two ago because I remembered that I've seen pictures of your dog blue where his tail is pretty much. Just bear now how it looks hairless. It doesn't necessarily look too terribly beat up but my dog. He runs through the woods. I would say with caution. He does not beat himself himself up in the woods. He runs through the woods very well. And he's I found that interesting that you mentioned you. You always run your dogs in the woods as much as possible so they learn how to run through the woods and I. I felt like that was something that my dog did. We have wooded parks nearby that that's where we exercise so that's where he learned how to run through the woods and so he does not beat himself up he does have a high kinda cracking tail. So the tip of his tail usually gets usually gets a little bit bloody and beat up towards the end of the season this year. It it for whatever reason I don't know if I don't know that we really hunted all that much more but this re this year his tail got beat up. Pretty bad and I was. I started started trying to bandaged up and take care of it and wrap it and tape it and get everything going healing and I thought we had a beat but then at one point it got infected and it was in rough shape and I went to the vets in a couple of different vets actually wanted to cut the tail off. And Yeah so I was. I was Kinda down in the dumps and really didn't know what to do. I ended up calling a handful of bird dog folks and end vets and just kind of getting their opinion and I mean to make a long story short. We kinda took the wait agency approach. We put them on antibiotics and made sure it didn't get any worse but it appears to me like his tail is going to make a full recovery. But I was I was ready to call a you and just ask if if you've ever had anything anything deteriorate to that point and what you do to prevent or just monitor and take care of them. No I've I have never had anything that bad. I will say that blew it up a little bit of a bacterial. It's skin infection With antibiotics last sun'll okay the in fact there's there's no there are just no hero right Yup topside but as you know the feathering and everything is there but but no in the tips of all of them by the end of the season pretty well torn up and try to put stuff on there. I know over the one. That's down here and he's he's from he lives in hackensack. Okay so two now. And he's down here in. Debbie did send some medication wraps and all that stuff for it but I do put the medication on the wraps just get torn off the briars the.

"Of young Bert with one inch tail fans from early in the season. So so that that bodes well if if if they can pull off a second late NASA and get them ready for the winter then booed right. That was my experience. Well Lot of young juvenile birds in the woods including some I beg some birds early. That were some of the smallest birds that I'd ever seen or bags. That was that definitely. I experienced that as well but like like you said. Hopefully those birds the ones that that were not didn't end up in somebody's bag their winter capable and we were joking about that a little bit. We've got a lot of snow and there's a a lot of good roosting snow for grouse here right now now. It hasn't been very cold. So they're they're probably in good shape either way but they're they're off to a good start as far as the snowpack goes well well and I think last year on twitter Cole Pat Gray Snow on the ground up there. which which when you when you tell somebody especially from this part of the country that that actually better for the burks to over winter with that much snow on the ground because then you explain snow roosting in all of that to them and they understand it they have to make them understand that the birds are winner adapted and they rely on it and they do better with snow on the ground line which was really interesting when I was up this spring for for banding Woodcock at the Pine Ridge in some of the first as we got out in the snow but just really melted and you could see the open areas all the clumps of grouse pooper? They had spent the spent the winter in the snow and it has slowly moved melted down looking around. That was very inter- isn't that amazing. How many you can see like a given area? Oh in like a basketball courts size. I mean they're probably I duNno one spot probably had at fifty fifty poop. I mean fifty little piles yep it was also civil. Yeah that's that's pretty. I've seen gene that Doing some spring scouting and stuff up in up in those areas especially you go into a clear-cut because usually there's a lot of big that's an open area the grouse. They know that they'll reuss or they'll feed along the edge of those clear cuts and then they'll they'll die bomb into the snow out The wide open clear cuts there. And they'll leave the the they could be down there for a couple of days at at a time. I believe in though obviously droppings there and then they move on leaving in the spring. You see those those piles of droppings. It's very interesting. It is all right even so I wanna I wanNA rewind a little bit and talk about sort of how you got into this world of breeding.

"Okay leave. The leaves are thick and all right now are in the prime of grouse from the Deer season season is mostly over after Thanksgiving might still be open but most people are done hunting so we pretty much have the blister ourselves in for Kraus. woolcock season starts to Saturday the seventh of December. Okay we're just getting ready to just getting ready to kick off that all right. That's interesting gasoline. So the seasons aren't necessarily totally offset as far as grouse goes but the the way that it works out as far as prime time being our prime time is much earlier up here which is obviously why you find yourself in this neck of the woods and now you can travel down back home and you've got another primetime of groceries and that sounds Nice. Correct that you'd like like I I get to enjoy tooth oils. The first Merthyr and when I leave you know of course it's already snowing. BELIEVES WE'RE GONNA come back down here just a time to catch tail end of the leaves change in. Just pick it right back up. I don't have much time so you've kind of figured out. Exactly what a lot of us sort of you know. Kick kick the dirt under our shoes and ponder and think about. How could we make October longer longer? You've kind of fakes out Steven Greg. Yeah I about two months worth of October I do want to. I don't want to do it right now. I don't want to compare apparent contrast the grouse-hunting based on your location we'll get into that but I I don't know where to start. I don't know whether talk grouse dogs or boots. I don't know which direction to go Stephen. Or they're all they're all tied together so whatever one. Yeah yeah that's very true. Well being that you've kind of put a bowl on your time in Minnesota and you do spend a couple of months up here and you're in the woods essentially every day so you've got great perspective. I would love to. I'd love to hear your thoughts on and and I know you're a numbers guy to so we can talk about that a little bit. I'd love to get your thoughts on your time in Minnesota and the grouse and woodcock season you experience with your the year guiding clients and everything this fall like after September eighteen..

"Pushback the Golden Knights. They got that power play after the year breakaway for Colin Diller, but the lightning get through the penalty kill still up three one with eight forty eight left in the second. Yeah. The penalty kill continues to look great. So far they're making the right wreath getting sticks late at one thing. That has had a tough time doing was just managing the puck along the lightning kind of use that to their advantage. They really go at press and attack them with the puck with bouncing off the wall gave them opportunities declare the puck and another successful kill for them. Belvoir Johnson neutralize one by Pierre award Belmar kala Miller from the red line pitches. It in your search up by the lightning here side covert Polat under major pressure Freda Tyler Johnson and not to Yanni Gordon setter. Bortles spin it in. Cheese now plays it first with the far side for Colin biller. So we see gore back with Johnson a plot to steal high slot shoots walk at front and it deflects out of place. So that might have just been a sequence of how they ran the lines after the penalty kill Kaley. But maybe we're seeing some light shuffling from John Cooper with the lining of three one in the second thought twice in the first period where stamkos kucherov point where paired up together during those first two after those first two kills and then again, we're seeing it again where they're trying to get stamkos and kucherov together with Brayden point in Yanni, Gordon that second line, but it's hard to deny the chemistry. We saw against Colorado with stamkos include often. Very exciting to see how those two replays and play off each other in a game. Especially with breaking point. He brings so much speed to that line pocket wins the face of Ed. Good work by JT Miller to win it left point shot blocked. Rebound pinballs to Girardi right circle. At its Kellyanne getting stripped by Holden and Calamar trying to step year. I sell at Reeves to center Ryan Reeves bangs it in. We'll carry a first of the pocket tournament. He fell down tantalum to call Girardi. They just lost his balance you get out to center ice. Mcdonagh JT Miller. Posit for pocket back for Miller profitable. I'm up circle. Try to split the D couldn't quite do sell. But it's played by McDonnell point Callahan off his stick and flurries. Gonna see it at the side of the net and cover it up clocks stop with seven forty five left in the second in the lining up three one. That Belmar carrier Reeves line, they're not necessarily a tic TAC toe line. But they bring a lot of energy to the ice. And they presented some challenges for the lightning. Just in transition Reeves. Carrier really laying the body and we saw earlier Reeves takeout Victor Hedman in their own zone in the Lightning's. Then. I'm sure they're hopeful to see him return to the ice. Barsha selling Johnson for the right of flurry. Lighting up eleven shots in the period. Seventeen for the game. Johnson. Withdraw Coburn LaPointe shot blocked in front lot hungrily after the rebound rights. Civil keeps it alive for kucherov, right circle. Just knock up a stick by Theodore good play by Theodore in years Riley. Smith guardian the lady circle shot at Hyde over the net. It hit the glass and went out of play. Boy, he just another beer there in the neutral zone. He gave himself a lean to the left circle. Seven twenty nine left in the second still pre one lightning. Yeah. It'd have to be careful right now, the lightning obviously, a three to one lead. They played really well up into this point so far. And now, I think the Golden Knights getting a little frustrated that their power play hasn't been able to connect. But they're pretty dangerous mentally have to watch those Atma odd man rushes and you don't want to start getting caught giving up some of those carelessly Riley Smith with a great chance there Carlson wants the offense is on face a Feodor centerpoint shot deflected wide, right. By William Carlson, keeps the puck alive right point anklet, rips it over the net. Rebound back to Theodore. Lapointe. It's Marxist Obama goal. William Carlson centers it. Oh, a back door a tap. Just wide left by Riley Smith. He was well defended by swamp who may have saved a goal. They're strong up the middle. Stamkos trying to get it out to center ice. A pursues it across the blue line left circle by the Johnson. Tyler Johnson got gotta stamp goes by today us dispossessed by Theodore to Riley Smith at center ice. He'll dribble it in her tap on the lightning at three one Tampa Bay the second short feet around the nearside walking at Hala bright circle past comes to March lightning player without a stick. They'll appointed John Merrill, shooting this wide, right. There is a stick on the ice that had been earlier shift circa to steal the Parsi Kucha forces it out of the self six thirty left in the second period. Pointing have a three one lead. Erin passer for folding will lead to an icing. So the lightning at an offense is on pace up. And now I haven't seen braided point on a couple of shifts. So there he is out of the so they mixed up the lines a little bit. It's hard to tell who's with whom because Johnson was just how it Kucha stamkos. But good news points. Okay. And he'll take the offensive zone face. Here. We've seen some different looks up front. I know it's difficult on the road. Obviously, I think some teams like it where they can get a little bit more rhythm because coaches aren't quite as worried about matchups. But yet we've seen point play with a couple of different people now in Johnson Kuchar Polat prior. So.

Belvoir Johnson Lightning Riley Smith kala Miller Ryan Reeves Theodore Freda Tyler Johnson William Carlson Johnson Kuchar Polat stamkos Golden Knights Coburn LaPointe Colin Diller Yanni Gordon setter Girardi Colin biller Kaley John Merrill Obama
