Giga Texas Timeline Update, and the TSLA stock rebound

"Everybody. Robin our here, and today is kind of a Giga Day. We have news from gigafactory Shanghai Gigafactory, Texas gigafactory New York, and then we'll talk a little bit more about lucid ahead of their livestream unveil of the lucid air tonight, and of course, the stock which we can start out with dessel stock on the day to day finishing up eleven percent to three hundred, sixty, six dollars twenty eight cents on the back of a rising macaroni Environment Nasdaq for the day up two point seven percent. So as I said, yesterday, I, hate, stop-loss orders. This is exhibit a for why that is as Tesla today without much news swung back significantly in the. Other. Direction. That's really my only thought on the stock today. So let's move into the news. There was an interesting post this morning on Tesla Motors Clubs Forum by Ridge. Twenty twenty about a possible time line for Tesla's gigafactory in Texas. This user writes quote have some information on the tear factory build schedule. Tesla is sourcing how vendors slash contractors to bid on work at the site and quote this user then shares some screen shots presumably of some documents involved in that bidding, the most interesting of which lays out a project schedule in that project schedule not a first substantial completion date of May I twenty twenty one according to the American Institute of Architects. Substantial completion is quote the stage in the progress of the work when the work or designated portion thereof is sufficiently complete in accordance with the contract documents so that the owner can occupy or utilize the work for its intended use and quote the schedule also notes that the first dry in what happened on December thirtieth twenty twenty I xdrive just means that everything is sort of sealed up with the building shell so that interior work can commence without having to be exposed to the elements, and then in a separate page here that has also included. There's a more detailed schedule noting that in September they'll be doing things like underground electrical, mechanical plumbing, etc.. October would be fencing porta-pottys waste removal metals, recycling recycling removal, and then November would be architectural interiors which based on the dry and date assume would be non weather sensitive into your stuff. So obviously take this for what it's worth. It has just forum posts, but the documents to me look like they would be pretty legitimate I. Don't think there's a ton of reason to doubt it. I. Think for those of us that follow closely this would be pretty much in line with our expectations. This will be going from breaking ground to possibly production ready in under a year which we know Tesla is targeting based on their work active factory Shanghai originally and now With gigafactory Berlin as well. Speaking of Shanghai Tesla continues to make rapid progress at the gigafactory. They're the global times earlier. This Week reported that Tesla has completed the main section of phase two, which is for the Mata why and they write quote at present interior decoration and electromechanical testing being carried out and are expected to be completed on schedule in October and November and quote not exactly sure what interior decoration needs to be carried out and completed. I'm guessing that's probably something that's lost in translation probably more equivalent you interior design meaning, functional interior design. But regardless, we continue to see these reports about phase two in Shanghai though the Global Times appears. To also expect production to begin for the Monterey in one though they do cite other media reports on that which we have talked about. Personally, I'm still expecting some motto is to come out of gigafactory Shanghai. This you're probably not enough to be immaterial to quarterly results or the financials but more. So again, sign heading into twenty twenty one which cannot believe were that close to you already shifting back to the US and over to the energy side of the business with Peissel's gigafactory. In New, York a different type of gigafactory Tesla. Roddy today posted an article with the headline of quote vessel energy ramps hiring AC in New York for accelerated solar production and. Quote you on did actually re tweet this article in which Tesla Roddy writes quote a source familiar with the matter who spoke to Tessa. Roddy talk to employees at the plant who indicated the facility is currently operating on a twenty four hour schedule six days a week to keep up with demand. Altogether, this move seems to confirm the eighty eight acre location is accelerating solar production and installation insignificant way which coincides with the company's growth and the energy sector and quote while energy storage has definitely grown historically solar has actually been quite slow Tusla recently, which I think was correctly pointed out by Gordon Johnson in our bowl baird debate. So if we go. Back to two, thousand, seventeen, for example, cutie, Tesla deployed one, hundred, seventy, six megawatts of solar energy versus this most recent you only twenty seven megawatts of solar. There are a lot of reasons for that. The business model has shifted significantly but right now it's not at the point that at once what's Tesla's hope? Of course is that the solar roof changes that about which started in their cute you letter that quote solar roof installations roughly tripled in Q. to compare to key one, we continue to expand our installation team to increase the deployment rate and quote of course, this is a new product so to starting from a very low base for Tesla from. But hopefully, that growth rate continues we've also recently seen tesla cut their prices significantly for rooftop solar. Now, offering the lowest price systems in the United States at least at a dollar forty, nine per watt after incentives under cutting other systems and the US by about thirty percent on average. So plenty of reasons to be hopeful that Tesla is on the precipice returning to growth for the solar business and are on their way to finding a business model that works for them consistently for solar going forward. Next today on into provide an update to yesterday's discussion on delivery wait times. I've seen a few comments noting that those have changed for people today they have actually changed for me as well. So the model y currently sets for the all wheel drive version at seven to eleven weeks for me here in the Midwest two to four weeks for the performance for the Model S. and the Model X. Both of those currently sit at eight to twelve weeks versus yesterday's ten to fourteen. Weeks and the model three has held steady for all trims at two to four weeks.

"Key in combination with a likely double digit earnings recovery into twenty twenty one supports a fair value. P. For the broad-market of well north of twenty times earnings. Currently, the market is trading at about twenty times twenty twenty one earnings even including those big tech stocks. So there is room for some rerating still and the non tech areas of the market. It's difficult to argue that you would need to see tech valuations move higher in an environment where their earnings dominance is starting to fade a little bit. So it's unlikely that tech multiples continued to expand. They may even normalized like coming down a little bit meeting somewhere in the middle, the rest of the market as the rest of the market starts to catch up. Fascinating and gives us a timeframe for this. Gino when when is the latest that this might happen? Yeah. So our sector scorecard actually started to signal as of September. First, we put out the scorecard and it's the first time that we saw tech fall out of the top three sectors on the scorecard. Since twenty eighteen we saw materials, industrials, and discretionary stocks already starting to rise. There is some evidence even as of August that value the value factor in the S. and P. Five hundred anyway was starting to outperform. If you look at the lung short value factor it performs better than quality or volatility or momentum in the month of August for the first time in some time. So we're already starting to see some evidence of this rotation. If you look at the last five days, even material stocks are up while the rest of the index is down industrial stocks have fallen half as. Much as the index so I think we're starting to see a little bit of this rotation. Now, will it continue really depends on some solidification of that earnings outlook. Do think we need to go into third quarter earnings season and see companies start to confirm that they do see a better in by environment emerging into twenty twenty one, they do see order flow improving they do see manufacturing activity starting to pick up around the world maybe even some references to the weak dollar as a support to their multinational operations and multinational Activity starting to improve..

"It had its worst one day loss ever yesterday just on the S. and P. Five, hundred snobs with not in the S. and P. Five, hundred also GM biking Nikola, which is a little bit of a rival in some senses. Our next guest says that you know maybe that downdraft was not completely unexpected or walls as. you know unreasonable we are up eight percent today, but let's bring in. Our next guest to tell us exactly why he believes that Tesla may have some room to go below where it is right now Gordon Johnson is CEO and founder of G. O. J. Research. So Gordon yesterday. We were blaming the lack of inclusion, the S. and P. Five hundred for the selloff also the set off more generally but you say Tesla deserves to be valued much lower than it is right now there are several reasons behind that. Take us through some of them. Right. So we have a nineteen dollars price target on Tesla more than ninety percent downside at the twenty twenty, one year end price started right Tesla around you know just under four hundred dollars keeping my to as stock went from two hundred to five. I almost stock went a while ago from two hundred twelve. So you can see moves like this. Listen Tesla is a busted growth story their US revenues peak in the fourth quarter of eighteen their global revenues peaked essentially in the fourth quarter of eighteen Global I'm sorry their auto gross margins peaked in the third quarter of eighteen and listen even if tesla hit their guidance for five thousand, five, hundred, thousand cars delivered this year that's the only sixty, two percent of their capacity. They're expecting capacity exiting this year before they built two more plants and Germany and the United States so aren't really selling sixty two percent of their existing capacity. That's a very negative dynamic just no one talks about. So that Tesla I I'm sorry go ahead well, I was just going to. Point out the till Ray, which referenced as a cannabis company they make medicines and drugs, and drops, and so on and for a solar is obviously a solar module company very different stories though albeit you know the same type of company in terms of what people invest in is bose if if you want to talk about growth companies but but so is Amazon and you wouldn't fall down on for having a capacity greater than what it's delivering upon. So why full Tesla? Right. So Amazon is a very different company right? People often make that comparison, but we think tests has more like AOL or blackberry right there I doubt with vs and now everybody's coming with competition So I think there's big misconceptions out there tesla does not make their own batteries. I think a lot of your listeners think they do they buy batteries from Panasonic Vat L. and LG Kim, l. Kim just signed to do with GM. Anybody can buy those batteries. The Tesla by Panasonic anybody can buy the batteries to test the buys and the same with with cat L. P. APO has a million better listen people talk about you know vs being disruptive vehicles being disruptive. Here's the reality in the United States twenty eleven at Twenty Nineteen total not just hustle TUSLA total electric vehicles have went from point three percent of the market to one point four percent, right. You know that's not disruption and globally vs twenty, seven at Twenty nineteen went from point three percent of the market to one point seven percent one point, seven percent..

"So we can't necessarily I don't have the data for just electric vehicles right in front of me but tesla sales were much better than other automakers for the quarter even though they had us right I don't to we don't have to believe it I. Don't know Tesla's market share is in the US I, don't think that's important right now because again there's not a lot of. Being, sold in the US that compete with Tesla to compare a four thousand dollar model three to a one. Hundred Twenty thousand dollars type. Can I think those are two different Completely. Different. Also mentioned the Chevy. So for you to say that the pace and the Jaguar. Have the. Type of been here, those aren't compare the comparable cars will be the pollstar it will be the I d three, four, it will be issue see it'll be the machi those will be the comparable cars and those cars launched it. So Tesla's hasn't had competition in the US despite that fact their US revenues. In the fourth quarter of eighteen. So what do you think that we're? Less revenue that is US revenue. The revenue in the United States peaked in the fourth quarter of eighteen logo ramp been your guiding. Your forecast for nine point seven, billion in revenue in q four. I don't understand how you can forecast for thirty two percent more revenue from Tesla. Versus their best quarter ever, and then say that growth has peaked. Well I mean it's it's. It's quite easy..

"Two zero. Next. Year. The contracts the agreement with Fiat Chrysler is for one point eight, billion euros. We don't know for sure that that's all tesla but that's what it sounds like ended. Up Twenty its own on its for eight billion euros over three years twenty, twenty, two, twenty, thousand if not all guests love they said, it's not so they say and their financial document. So if you assume it's eighty percent tesla, you can argue with that. All you want that's assumption we made and you take the amount of credit cells to Tesla did and the first two quarters of this year. That's three fourths of three years worth of credit sell. So you're right they won't go to zero, but they're going to decline significantly and if they do an Tusla's recognition, credits are not Fiat Chrysler. Six million in the back half of this year that will be there really no FCA left. So we'll it zero maybe it's not but it's not going to be hundreds of millions. They'll probably be closer to fifty million a quarter. If you take that four hundred plus four, hundred, twenty, eight, million to fifty, million that they recognize credits elsie of. They lose money every quarter. So again, it will. Money into quarters during a pandemic. I don't think that's fair to say that the exact same situation is gonNA apply next year and on the regulatory credits I did want to talk about this first point I would say is not the entirety of the seven hundred plus million that they've recognized in the first half of beer comes from Fiat Chrysler Tesla has had regulatory credit revenue consistently before that deal was in place, it's boosted the regulatory credit obviously but it's not fair to just assume that that's all coming from. Fiat. Chrysler. The second point is that one. Hundred and forty million dollars of that revenue that was in the first half was deferred revenue from twenty nineteen. So it's not fair to include that in the calculations that you're making going forward and say that that's a percent of yet Chrysler's commitment to Tesla because that was already earned previously it was just recognized this quarter and then if you exclude that then tassels actually more around.

"Let's see please up sixteen point four percent. And that is the. Biggest date surge since twenty nine that's a Bloomberg business flash. I'm Greg Jarrett. You're listening to Bloomberg markets with Lisa Abramowicz impulse. We need on Bloomberg radio. We'll tesla reported results last night. I think they are probably best characterizes a mixed bag, but there was drama on the conference call typically as with tesla. It was announced that the CFO surprisingly is going to depart the company stock is down about one percent this morning and trading joining kind of dig through what's going on with tesla is Gordon Johnson, Gordon is managing director research annals covering alternative energy metals and mining equipment from vertical group, he joins us in our Bloomberg interactive brokers studios here in New York, Gordon. Thanks for joining us. Let me just start with the C F O news. It just seems like I just remember him coming back for a second stint as CFO. And now he's leaving what's going on. Right. So I think that when you combine with the leaving which was unexpected you've had four vice presidents finance leave since two thousand seventeen you have the chief accounting officer at tests Aleve. With just a month on the job unexpectedly. And now you have the CFO leaving. And effectively the new CFO was just promoted to vice president in December. And has no specific accounting experience. I think this is a huge loss of institutional knowledge and it concern again, given the finance departures we've seen at Tessema recently. So Gordon, you're your longtime tesla bear, right? And you are you maintain a seventy two dollar per share price target, which is huge declined from where we are today. And you said you would be aggressively adding to any tesla short positions here bond markets don't agree with you because the bonds are actually going up and usually markets is the smart money. Why are they wrong? Right. So I think the reason they're wrong is because tesla reported a cash balance of three point seven billion. However, if you look at their interest income in the quarter and divided by that cash balance you get an annualized return of roughly eight point eight percent. Whereas in the in the fourth. Quarter that three year treasury Bill returned two point six percent. So either they're the most inefficient managers of cash we've ever seen which I think is highly unlikely are their cash balance is significantly less than what they're reporting. So I think that's why the bond investors are reacting positively, but we're still quite concerned. They're not going to be able to pay off that that convertible in March. Okay, hold on a second. So you're saying that they're they're massaging the numbers is that the idea I don't want to say, they're precising the numbers. But I think what they do is. They delay paying their suppliers until days after the quarter to allow them to report a cash balance at the end of the quarter is much higher than the average cash ballots, and you can see this in Q three Q two Q one. It hasn't always been the case. So again, either they're the worst managers of cash worse than a retail investor who could just park their money and three month treasury bills or their cash balances significantly less than what they're reporting. We think it's the latter. Sounds a little bit. Like, massaging the numbers to me. I think let's let's move. So how about the underlying fundamentals is what did you see Nicole last night? To give you a sense that they are remained challenge to meet some of their either per project per production goals and or profit, right? So keep in mind. We just updated our bottom up model, and we projected a gap EPS number of seventy nine cents. They came in at seventy eight street was at a over a dollar figure about this tesla built three years of backlog via the model three and like the Sports Illustrated article said today, it was a bayton switch strategy. They said it was going to be twenty seven and a half thousand dollars be fully autonomous mean, you can literally crawl in the back sleep and drive coast to coast, and you're gonna have free supercharging. None of that's true. The car costs fifty five thousand dollars out the gate. Clearly, I don't think anybody in their right mind is going to allow tesla drive them around without paying attention. There's been fifty two deaths reported either associated indirectly or directly with tesla. And clearly the supercharging costs money. So what they did in Q three threes. They took that huge moat of backlog, and basically in Q three and four sold cars to the best part of that backlog. I e the guys who are willing. Gonna pay the most. So if you look to what they're guiding for next year fiduciary at twenty nine thousand nine three hundred sixty two four hundred thousand cars sold if you look at their q four deliveries multiply that by four and use the low end of that guidance. They're actually guiding sales unit sales down and twenty nineteen despite the fact that on Q four numbers trading at ninety times forward EP multiple other car companies traded sixty five sixty five to six times, we think there's big risk in the in the stock certainly I think most would agree with you that there's big risk in the stop just based on how much it's been swinging around. But I'm wondering let's say tesla is able to pay off its convertible bond is your thesis wrong. I mean is that is that going to be enough of prolonging any sort of liquidity event that tests looking keep on going trying to make it work. No. I mean, everybody says if they're able to raise debt, you, you know, that's going to be great for the stock. Look, they burn a lot of money keep in mind in in the fourth quarter. They had huge demand pooling in the United States because their tax credit got cut in half. One more in nineteen in the Netherlands, right? European sales of tesla in two thousand eighteen were up six percent. If you assume that's because Netherlands sales were up one hundred and fifty eight percent, Germany was down forty. Spain was down like roughly twenty the UK was down. Roughly thirty the point is the Netherlands had a big tax incentive for for tesla. Cars that got cut January one twenty thousand nineteen we think Netherlands sales are gonna be down eighty percent and Q one. So the point is they've had a big benefit for that benefit is over. I think they're guiding to huge decline. We think the street numbers for Q one on revenue is roughly one point five billion too, high given Tesla's guidance and you have real competition coming in in the back half of this year. So I think they go back into losing money in Q one. I think basically that's their that's affecting their guidance. I think they lose more money in Q two and more money in Q three and four. So if you give a company money who just perpetually burns cash is that a good thing. I don't think. So. So I just think. Their business model was flawed. I think you on Musk's tried to change the way you manufacture cars from the car companies that had been it before it hasn't worked. And I think the costs are too high. I think they're going to burn a lot of money this year. Gordon johnson. Thank you so much for being with us. Gordon? "John Gordon Johnson to continue with us on tesla with some important calls. But for global Wall Street, John it's that word shenanigans in England. It's the same thing there's been accounting shenanigans over the years course, golden Johnson joins us now from vertical group managing director. And analyst after tesla reports a really good quarter the third positive for the company the question, I guess, Gordon and you used the word shenanigans. So let's talk about that again. Whether that would imply that something untoward is gonna whether they are just sort of officially making things look better. By squeezing suppliers bringing orders for with those kind of things which one is it. Well, I think it may be that. They're the ladder in in a couple of things I want to talk about with respect to the Q one thing we definitely want to see as their warranty reserves. You wanna to see what that number looks like because we've definitely gotten comments from the test or motor club that there's issues with respect to quality. There's issues with respect to parts fallen off the car. So if that number drops that number takes away from gross revenue drops one hundred percent, downside gross profit line. So if warranty reserves are dropping at a time when complaints are increasing that is a concern, we know that all of our audiences worldwide. Gordon Johnson having accounting AKU acuity there in finance or business. They have an interest in. This does warranty reserves move the needle for Mr. musk Zeke going to say, that's inconsequential. Or is it a reason to be cautious on the stock? It's it's one of the key things. I think it does move the needle one other thing we definitely want to look at as well is we've gotten indicate. Nations that they sold large amounts of cars being returned to enterprise. I the rental car company, and you can see that with respect to the almost the more than doubling in their accounts receivable CFA level five today with Gordon is that what we're doing this goes back to revenue recognition right which in England, John it's been a big deal over the years in Germany, particularly mean, are you this is important, Gordon, you're saying one of the things we need to know is revenue. Recognition is an issue. It Mr. musk company one hundred percent in the industry when accounts receivable show, a significant increase that is indicative of cells to the commercial space. I e companies and those cells are done at huge discounts. But if tesla does not recognize the cost associated with those cells in this quarter that is a huge boost to gross margins and one other thing highlight, we look at this and see if it's covered in the queue, we've heard of multiple instances of people getting a VIN number paying for their tesla car going to pick the car up and then the. Then being reassigned to someone else that potentially enables tesla to double book car sales in the quarter, effectively selling one car to to people that boosts their cash flow. So these are all items that we think need to be looked into specifically. And we think the Tinky will provide some insights we haven't seen that yet. So golden essentially saying this quarter copied repeated we think this quarter cannot be repeated one thing we highlighted on. The prior appearance was if you look at Norway, the reason why we highlight Norway is in no way. If you buy engine card internal combustion engine car, you pay double the price. There's an excess tax that means you have to pay the price of forty five percents of cars in Norway R E right now the first month, I e October the Jaguar is available. They've outsold. Tesla by six cars are coming to America. Rose cars are coming to America in the fourth quarter. I'm sorry. You're wearing dodger blue today. Looks like the last thing we need to know. Gordon johnson. And what are the dodgers do about their pitching? I mean, forget about all the distractions. They got to get somebody to put the ball over the plate. Where is the next Colfax? I don't know. I'm I'm a dodger fade it was. It was tough last night. I can't root for the Red Sox because I believe the New York Yankees blue. So I don't know the answer to the question, but they have my backing one hundred percent. What do you want me to send back to that? You're supposed to say, they don't exist. If they don't have a Colfax, where's their Drysdale? Do you think I have a clue what you're talking about?.

"Vacation the topic right now is tesla and the shares of tesla. Are down about three quarters of a percent is coming after chief executive Elon Musk tweeted yesterday that he was planning and looking forward to bringing the company private at a price of four hundred and twenty dollars a share here. To help us understand this more and, get his reaction is Gordon Johnson he is managing director alternative energy metals and mining. As well as an analyst for vertical group and Gordon just to underscore he has already a sell recommendation, on tesla with a price target of ninety three dollars shares of tesla currently trade at three hundred seventy. Six? Dollars Gordon always a pleasure to hear what you've got to say what what was, your reaction when you saw or learned about the tweet from Elon Musk I gotta tell you thanks for having me on I mean initially it. Was? Sheer excitement because it seemed to me like this was the nail in the coffin I. Mean you got think, about this right let's just. Take a, step back just a few days ago on must promise that they were going to be profitable forever Starting trait so why. Would you, need to go private the, end? Negative propaganda from the short I mean if they're going to be profitable forever anything you're gonna go private at four twenty Short-covering alone with Dr? This Dr five hundred dollars I mean. You got, to think about all the dynamics regarding, an l. p. o. first and foremost every Leverage buyout investor what you're looking, for most of our money, from the, company, to pay the interest on your debt and. Ultimately the debt and we know that's not what this company does. And we know that these, you know they they? Rebuffed an, investment offer from Saudi Arabia so. You're passing the hat for the largest l. syndicate in history why would you, say no, to a big check I mean. It just doesn't. Make any, sense and when you think about the fact this seventy or eighty billion dollar deal you know Recorded graph I mean. The legal recourse for any argument balls would be significant so you. Know you're talking about you, know more perform in? We need, to be involved multiple investment banks. Would need to be involved we've heard nothing from any of finance lawyers regarding, a potential Learn that you know the board members are saying they just started talking about this last week listen here's the thing the question is does their investigation or. If they investigate they decide is wrong so we hear all investors care must. Here while they care probably not but. I think the bigger problem, is there's, no real offer out there if you're on musket, over the next few weeks showed abuse a real. Offer out there I think he has serious problems with respect to his current investors and credibility and. I think that's the real problem and when you're thinking about you know even shares in share. The, employees roller their. Shares you're still talking about sixty plus billion capital, raise you. Have to, current investigations electing both with solar city and with the. Amount of model trees produced you, have a, number of other, potential issues underpinning this company. With respect to a potential SEC well maybe. Out there I know the people said that not the case Listen to the question on the. Call, the question did. Not ask us what do they have a wealth You can. Read the capital which is not, the definition of a wells notice I mean quite frankly ludicrous and that was a reaction yesterday okay is there? A way that? You can see Elon Musk actually completing a deal like, this would it be is there I mean set aside for just a minute your skepticism, on a technical basis is this that is just too big to get done or is it. Possible That's a great question pin but I don't even think it's about the size of the deal again. Think about this a leverage buyout is based on a company generating cash so if you're elbowing Bester effectively, take that, in a, company to, take, the company over what the prospect. Being. Generate Pash to pay you back for that debt or pay you back your interest and? Then pay you? Back for that debt win has tesla generated never so. Why has an p. owing pester you be willing to go out on a ram and, risk potentially you know Info wasting your money, I mean It doesn't make any. Logical sense And. I think investors, and the, public and you know quite frankly SEC needs to see this actual money that he says he. Has secured those two words money I think needs to be proven out over the next, day slash, weeks and we're highly skeptical that it's going to be able to be the case you know It's like a very. General question is there enough money out. There to do this yet, but doesn't make sense absolutely not well that LDL investors scrutinized bills more than equity shortsellers do and I think that's what's gotten lost a lot of. This story Want to thank you very much for joining us Gordon Johnson managing director alternative energy metals and mining and analyst for. Vertical group talking about, Elon Musk's Twitter proposal, to take, tesla private at four hundred and twenty dollars. A share shares, of tesla currently trading three. Hundred and seventy five dollars. That's down a little bit more than one, percent, coming up on Bloomberg markets we've. Got Chuck. "The vertical group in new york city welcome gentlemen hello how's it going hey gordon you have a sell recommendation for tesla you're you're kind of raining on the parade here what do you think's going to happen that it's not so good in the future i think there's two things number one talked about this being factory gate production which i don't think is actual production from our understanding of what factory gate means first of foremost tesla said they've always said there's there's no mention a factor gaetan any of their sec filings or transcripts and affectively what factory gate means is the car is effectively leaving leaving the factory floor meaning the car may not be fully completed and we did a overview of lengthen employees of tesla former employees we saw that factor gay typically means in the in the case of tesla cars that need to be further constructed addition to that by highlighting ilan less talking about in may shutting down for a little while to reach in april according to gordon johnson i'm sorry to break in and interrupt you but we just hang on because we want to go to the white house where president donald trump is meeting with the prime minister of the netherlands mark let's get a little bit of the conversation and the presentation that's taking place there now we do work it out that'll be positive and if we don't it'll be positive also because now we're just think about those cars are in here it'll be it'll be positive but again mister prime minister thank you very much going.

"In the first half of april and they said they were two thousand model threes in transit so that's what we six thousand model threes yet inside visa saying they only delivered thirty eight fifty so then if you use the buhler numbers the they tracked vin numbers for the model threes there was ten thousand produce in april so it looks like there's thousands of model threes sitting out there that either are in transit to be which it doesn't take long to deliver these cars that that's one option or or you know they have issues i e they've been poorly constructed and they're still waiting to be finalized so they're not really produced or they're just sitting in inventory i three of those scenarios a scary so to your question what needs to be done it seems like quite a bit needs to be done and we need to get more color on these production numbers that they're putting out there because the deliveries numbers from e inside evt's and keep in mind this this is a third party analytical company but you know very well respected very spot on so far over the years with the sector tesla deliveries on a monthly basis they don't match up with tesla's production numbers so what do they need to do probably spend a lot more cataracts to get their production facilities up to snuff and that's clearly not what the company's indicating they actually cut their cap x numbers they don't have the capital to expand gordon johnson thank you so much for joining us today gordon johnson is managing director alternative energy metals mining equipment analyst at vertical group in new york some strong words that the call yesterday that elon musk help with investors reminded him of to the two thousand and one enron call and that tesla would have to raise capital within the next few months order to keep going we'll keep an eye on the shares which are down about six and a half percent right now i'm lisa abramowicz along with my cohost pimm fox and this is bloomberg politics makes your heartbeat faster we're better than two hours at the gym.
