"gordon alias" Discussed on The Final Furlong Podcast

"That's the sound of a patient whose health data is protected from a cyberattack. And that, that's the sound of a financial system that's digitally secured from bad actors. Right now, there's an invisible war being fought on a digital battlefield that impacts what we do every day. That's why it periton, we do that can't be done to help protect the vital systems we rely on because if we don't, the alternative is unimaginable. Parents on. Right on Thursday, the Guinness Galway hurdle, no idea who's going to be writing who as of yet, but the current betting adamantly chosen who was a big contender for us at Shelton, and it went badly wrong. Oh, well, 7 two one with kaluki sportsbook. HMS who of course is engaged tonight, will bid to be doing the double 8 to one party central for Gordon alias is the same price, Santa Rosa, for drunk laughlin, 9 May mazie and 11 to one shot for Gavin Cromwell. There's a number of forces here including far out, echoes in rain, who are all going to be trying to win tonight or run well tonight and then come back out on Thursday. This is something that we become very, very familiar with, the Galway over the years. What's your overall view on the Galway hurdle, my friend? And are you in line for a ride? Pipeline, but I'm not quite sure just yet. So let's see how that goes. I just think it's a very it's a tricky race. Some are just kind of really like the children or even ten year old books. They've got something great, record the rest, but to be placed again. All is very strong and I think a great one here is drop down, drop down and handicap. And. Yeah, it's such a home raise. I'd like to see how polynomials are concerned tonight first. If he goes and wins well, I'd be fancying him. To put up another huge, huge, huge show on terms and basically comes by now has such a good record in his good heart. And so I want to see how you can find a nice. Of course, is odds on favored and you're writing against in the first. Gordon sores party central. I know he was talking about her in the lead up to the race daughter of Yates. She was very impressive at the festival. What's the latest on her? I haven't seen her raising the evidence. She's honestly learned anything to talk to unite doesn't talk about guitar for so much. So when you if you fancy on them, she's got a great chance and she's cast in there now. She got a nice wave as well. Of course, I just can't think of the last feeling either on that race. And I love to see, I just love to see a room where other people garden and that was I think I'm still going to stick with something more and just want to see how far north it's going to go tonight and very strong. And I think 20 American of dandruff and tutor city all is going to be a very transparent and it will just be interesting just being from the sea. You can see united was more of a battle Horton horse when she took it into. And it's very rare. She was an exception. I mean, I couldn't see pirate central Roman second and ask, you know what I mean? I think she was an exception that year. It was that last one. The only one I can ever think of, that they do that. It's very open. It's very top right. It's very tricky one. I'm bear that in mind for echoes and rain as well. Anything else that you highlighted in the race? Yeah, I just taught Jesse Evans to drop the pound for when he was told in an effort a couple of years ago. And I thought he was part of a 139 hundred and a half. We don't have a 138. And yeah, he could be an interest once. And you know, I actually, I really fancy and he just came to the autumn. I think he's too big a price. He's got a great farm from the lab. He's got great forum from the lab brook in laparoscopic sport. It wasn't beaten all that far. That would be dangerous bit of farm. He's a previous winner in the store, logical ground. And for me, he has a sneaky one. He reported money for him today into 20s from 25s is the current betting of autumn evening for Jessica Harrington. You were traveling up with a few jockeys and you've clearly just arrived at Galway now. What's the atmosphere like amongst your weight and room colleagues? It's always fairly dull on the way up in the carrot over to be honest. It'll be hopefully all at least. Yeah, listen, we're pretty, pretty normal on race there is really the lights I was traveling with are all very experienced and it's grand once we get here we get pulled together and get working and then when it's over we all had to travel back like it's not a day per day and other dollar as well. Beautiful. Anything on the flat there I ask you that you're interested in seeing or any other horses that you'd like to highlight from the great threes, great twos, the list of company races. And the novice JS on Torres there, visionarium, one well even well in wax with there, and it's for all offenses. Listen, it might it's a hot race. Now it might be a very good race for him, but he is still not only odds, whatever he'll be. That's the great dream I was just entirely. He had some interesting things to say about that horse on racing TV when Kevin Ryan was asking the Bose anything for Galloway or could visionary and go there. Yeah, we'll go for the croc, but it was the way he said it just gave you the education that he really fancies. Well, well, it's the only qualified for the horror land. And then I'll chase it with all the calls to be difficult to see to rock open a gold hardly was 25 to one. You know what I mean? So another chase is a great tree numbers JS and the top race. So it's hard to know it's hard to know

"Used to say, you just go, well, you know, with the base on the basis of new evidence, or with time to consider carefully, I now consider high definition to be a proper group one performer. Yeah, I think that I think they'll be disappointed if he doesn't win this, to be honest. Piledriver is the one they have to be manobo is a fascinating runner and Buick and Applebee can do no wrong. So we'll see how that plays out, but I'll go high definition maneuver reverse forecast and high definition for the win. So there is number one in the patent and you're going manobo as we move on to the oaks. Again, betting with 9 to two high definition, I'd be amazed if he's that price on the day. Emily Upjohn. So this was great for York that there are two classic trials for epsom produced the antibiotics for the oaks and Derby and now she gets put to the test. She turned up a breakfast at the stars. We have no idea who she scalped with, and I'm still uncomfortable with that. I still, how do you feel about that, Mark? Yeah, it's a little bit frustrating, isn't it? That these gallops are often a trade secret. We get to see the horses galloping. We don't know what kind of weeks they carried. We don't know who the galloping with. We don't know what kind of times they've run. In those galaxies, as an aficionado of American racing, American racing is much, much more transparent. When it comes to workouts, we've got workout times each individual horse is timed either from the gate or from a running start. And there's just a lot more transparency in American. I think this is something we could get a lot better at in this country. If a course like epsom and don't get me wrong, I think the breakfast with the stars morning is a tremendous idea. But I think it should almost be packaged as kind of a race meeting in itself, they should tell us who these horses have. The horses are the galloping with. And then just let us form our own opinion as to whether those gallops are worthwhile on. I don't understand what's the need for the secrecy. I don't really get it. I don't get it either. Obviously, it's a different landscape. And it goes back historically in that trainers are training on private land, whereas in America and Hong Kong, they're training on the track. And there's only so many spots in Hong Kong for you to do that. There's only so many spots with tracks in Australia for you to do it. But that means that in the U.S. Hong Kong America, you can go and look at track work. And you and I have spoken about American racing off air. And that is a massive advantage for betters of that sport. The fact remains, though, that if you're going to bring a horse to breakfast with the stars, and gallop that horse, you don't have to tell us how much weight she's carrying, or how much weight the opponent is carrying. But you can at least tell us who the opponent is. Who is she galloping alongside? And to just go, no, I'm not telling you. So has she worked with the second best horse in the yard? The best horse in the yard or the worst horse in the yard. Who is she worked with? Why this cloak and dagger stuff? Like, Willie Mullins, Gordon alias, they Henry bromhead when they're doing their race course gallops before cheltenham. They'll tell you who the horses are. Aidan O'Brien will tell you who the horses are at the Cara when they gallop. On day one after racing, he'll say, oh yeah, this is a lot one will be XYZ. Now, they're not obliged to tell us how much weight is being carried, but at least we get to know. So to just blankly look at you and go, no, we're not telling you. And then Maddie talked about this with me on talks for two on Friday. You then have a picture in the racing post towards Emily Upjohn with anonymous stablemates. It doesn't, it doesn't sit well at all. Anyway, there we go. There's our hot take..

"Gordon ill advisedly and stupidly posed for a photograph. But that horse is not in pain. An accident has happened. The horses had to be put down, but he's not doing anything to hurt the horse. It was a silly thing for him to do. I hammered him on the final for a long, a hammered him on talk sport. I called, I said, the suspension was right. But I also said, once this suspension was lifted for some reason, we're doubling back there. When the suspension was lifted, that right, that's it. He served his penance. He served his time. Let him come back. And Gordon's age, you can see the effect of the talent on him. This man is dealing with a live resource who can feel pain who is feeling pain and will feel the pain of his actions. And yet, people who were on this show are no longer are, are defending him. They're either shadow liking comments on Facebook or their shadow liking stuff on Twitter or retweeting support of him. Hey, they're not retweeting and actually they're just being clever enough to like it so that their name is there in support of sir Mark taught, but without retweeting it to bring the mob on them. But they wanted Gordon's head last year. Now they don't. And some are has acted in the manner that he has with a live horse. Horse who will actually feel pain. And he himself has apologized. He himself, before I'm pretty certain, before he was pushed, he resigned from the world resource welfare association. Pretty certain they were just going to go you're fired, or you're sacked, but as a patron he resigned from that. And you are right. He apologized. But the fact that he apologized means that all these people who are coming up with like, there was a sales agency. It was highlighted by godolphin John who was shattered to get off and John again. One of the. Most sensible and intelligent tweeters of horse racing commentary, on the tweet machine, a sales agency comes out in defense of Samarkand because of this longer video. And there seems to be this narrative of turning it on the person who released the video. Well, maybe she had two years to think about what happened to one. You know what? That wasn't right. So I don't get where the defense of Mark Todd comes from. And I really don't get how people who are in horse racing media. Are defending him. When those same people were hammering Gordon alias and wanted him gone. I don't get how there can be a defensive one. But not a defense of the other. Well, I'm certainly not defending him. But I'm certainly I'm not saying two wrongs make a right either. So I think it's up to the BHA now how they handle the case because yes, what he's done is inexcusable. I'm certainly not defending him, but I will just have to say that people must get the facts right because the video that was shown of Mark Todd hitting the horse, it wasn't a race horse. I'm not saying that makes it any better or any different. But it was a private lesson from what I gathered. It's a show jumper, isn't it? Yeah, it's not race, it's not a race horse because it's a private lesson. From whoever he was giving less than two, but yet I'm certainly not the venue here I'm certainly not saying.
